Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 27th.
- 0:11Unshaken in the storm. Have you ever looked around and
- 0:14felt like everything is shaking at once?
- 0:17Headlines feel heavier, conversations feel louder,
- 0:20opinions feel sharper, and it seems like truth is harder to
- 0:23find. One minute you're scrolling and
- 0:25laughing, the next you're anxious, confused, or
- 0:28overwhelmed. It can feel like the ground
- 0:31beneath your feet isn't as steady as it used to be.
- 0:34Psalm 11 captures that same tension.
- 0:37David was surrounded by injustice and violence, yet he
- 0:40refused to panic. He says that the Lord tests the
- 0:43righteous, but he hates wickedness and violence.
- 0:46In other words, God sees everything.
- 0:49He's not distant or distracted. Even when evil seems loud and
- 0:52unchecked, God remains just, watchful and fully aware.
- 0:56The testing isn't meant to destroy faith.
- 0:59It's meant to reveal and strengthen it.
- 1:01Jesus echoes that reality in Matthew chapter 24.
- 1:05He doesn't pretend the future will be easy.
- 1:07He warns his followers that deception will increase, that
- 1:10people will claim authority they don't have, and that many will
- 1:14be LED astray. But the very first thing he says
- 1:16is this. See that no one leads you
- 1:18astray. That's not fear based.
- 1:20That's preparation. Jesus is telling us to stay
- 1:24awake, stay grounded, and stay anchored in truth.
- 1:27Storms don't shake you because they exist.
- 1:29They shake you when your foundation isn't secure.
- 1:32When opinions become your anchor, you'll feel pulled in
- 1:35every direction. When trends define your beliefs,
- 1:38your faith will constantly shift.
- 1:40But when God's Word shapes your thinking, you can stand firm
- 1:43even when the world feels unstable.
- 1:46Being unshaken doesn't mean you won't feel pressure.
- 1:49It means pressure won't control you.
- 1:51It means when lies spread, you check them against truth.
- 1:54When fear rises, you return to God.
- 1:56When confusion grows, you cling tighter to what you know is
- 1:59real. God doesn't promise the absence
- 2:01of storms, He promises his presence in them.
- 2:04The testing of faith isn't punishment, it's refinement.
- 2:08Just like strong trees grow deeper roots in strong winds,
- 2:11your faith grows deeper when it's tested, and those deeper
- 2:15roots keep you standing when others fall away.
- 2:17You don't have to have all the answers, you just need to know
- 2:20where to stand. God is steady.
- 2:22His truth doesn't change, and when your life is rooted in Him,
- 2:25you can remain unshaken even in the storm.
- 2:28Let's pray. Heavenly Father, when everything
- 2:31around me feels uncertain and unstable, help me remember that
- 2:34You are steady and faithful. Guard my heart from deception
- 2:38and anchor my mind and Your truth.
- 2:40When my faith is tested, strengthen me instead of letting
- 2:43fear take over. Teach me to stand firm, trust
- 2:46You fully, and remain unshaken no matter what storms come my
- 2:49way in Jesus name, Amen. What if the ache you feel for
- 2:54more is actually God calling you deeper?

- 4:08Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 4:11Bible reading plan. Psalm Chapter 11 World English
- 4:16Bible for the Chief musician by David.
- 4:19In Yahweh I take refuge. How can you say to my soul, Flee
- 4:23as a bird to your mountain. For behold, the wicked bend
- 4:26their bows. They set their arrows on the
- 4:28strings, that they may shoot in darkness at the upright in
- 4:30heart. If the foundations are
- 4:32destroyed, what can the righteous do?
- 4:35Yahweh is in His holy temple. Yahweh is on His throne in
- 4:38heaven. His eyes observe, His eyes
- 4:41examine the children of men. Yahweh examines the righteous,
- 4:44but his soul hates the wicked. And him who loves violence on
- 4:48the wicked He will rain. Blazing coals, fire, sulfur, and
- 4:51scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
- 4:54For Yahweh is righteous, He loves righteousness.
- 4:57The upright shall see his face. Matthew chapter 24 World English
- 5:02Bible Jesus went out from the temple and was going on his way.
- 5:06His disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the
- 5:08temple, but he answered them. You see all of these things,
- 5:11don't you? Most certainly I tell you, there
- 5:14will not be left here. 1 stone on another that will not be
- 5:16thrown down. As he sat on the Mount of
- 5:19Olives, the disciples came to him privately saying, Tell us,
- 5:22when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming
- 5:25and of the end of the age? Jesus answered them.
- 5:28Be careful that no one leads you astray, for many will come in my
- 5:32name, saying, I am the Christ and will lead many astray.
- 5:35You will hear of wars and rumors of wars.
- 5:38See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen.
- 5:41But the end is not yet, for nation will rise against nation,
- 5:44and Kingdom against Kingdom, and there will be famines, plagues
- 5:48and earthquakes in various places.
- 5:50But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
- 5:53Then they will deliver you up to oppression and will kill you.
- 5:56You will be hated by all of the nations for My name's sake.
- 6:00Then many will stumble and will deliver up one another and will
- 6:03hate one another. Many false prophets will arise
- 6:06and will lead many astray, because iniquity will be
- 6:09multiplied. The love of many will grow cold,
- 6:12but he who endures to the end will be saved.
- 6:15This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole
- 6:17world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will
- 6:21come. When, therefore, you see the
- 6:23abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the
- 6:27prophet standing in the holy place, let the reader
- 6:30understand. Then let those who are in Judea
- 6:33flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop
- 6:36not go down to take out the things that are in his house.
- 6:39Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes.
- 6:43But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in
- 6:46those days. Pray that your flight will not
- 6:48be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath, for then there will be
- 6:51great suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the
- 6:54world until now. No, nor ever will be.
- 6:58Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have
- 7:00been saved. But for the sake of the chosen
- 7:02ones, those days will be shortened.
- 7:05Then if any man tells you, behold, here is the Christ or
- 7:08there, don't believe it, For false Christs and false prophets
- 7:12will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as
- 7:15to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.
- 7:19Behold, I have told you beforehand.
- 7:21If therefore they tell you, behold, He is in the wilderness,
- 7:24don't go out, or behold, He is in the inner rooms, don't
- 7:28believe it. For as the lightning flashes
- 7:30from the east and is seen even to the West, so will the coming
- 7:33of the Son of Man be. For wherever the carcass is,
- 7:36that is where the vultures gather together.
- 7:39But immediately after the suffering of those days, the sun
- 7:42will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars
- 7:45will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be
- 7:48shaken, and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the
- 7:52sky. Then all the tribes of the earth
- 7:54will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the
- 7:57clouds of the sky with power and great glory.
- 8:00He will send out His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and
- 8:03they will gather together, His chosen ones from the four winds,
- 8:06from one end of the sky to the other.
- 8:09Now from the fig tree learn this parable.
- 8:11When its branch has now become tender and produces its leaves,
- 8:14you know that the summer is near.
- 8:17Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that He
- 8:20is near even at the doors. Most certainly, I tell you, this
- 8:24generation will not pass away until all these things are
- 8:27accomplished. Heaven and earth will pass away,
- 8:30but My words will not pass away. But no one knows of that day and
- 8:34hour, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father.
- 8:37Only as the days of Noah were, so will the coming of the Son of
- 8:40Man be. For as in those days which were
- 8:43before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying
- 8:45and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into
- 8:49the ship, and they didn't know until the flood came and took
- 8:52them all away, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
- 8:55Then two men will be in the field, one will be taken, and
- 8:581:00 will be left. Two women will be grinding at
- 9:01the mill, one will be taken, and 1:00 will be left.
- 9:04Watch therefore, for you don't know in what hour your Lord
- 9:07comes. But know this, that if the
- 9:09master of the house had known in what watch of the night the
- 9:11thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have
- 9:14allowed his house to be broken into.
- 9:17Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don't expect,
- 9:20the Son of Man will come. Who then is the faithful and
- 9:23wise servant whom his Lord has set over his household to give
- 9:27them their food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his
- 9:31Lord finds doing so when he comes.
- 9:33Most certainly I tell you that he will set him over all that he
- 9:36has. But if that evil servant should
- 9:39say in his heart, my Lord is delaying his coming, and begins
- 9:43to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the
- 9:45drunkards, the Lord of that servant will come in a day when
- 9:49he doesn't expect it, and in an hour when he doesn't know it,
- 9:52and we'll cut him in pieces and appoint his portion with the
- 9:55hypocrites. That is where the weeping and
- 9:57grinding of teeth will be. Thanks for joining us on Bible
