A 56-year-old steelworker with 10 kids and no criminal record was caught with 23 grams of marijuana—just for personal use with his girlfriend. Instead of a conviction, he got a conditional discharge: stay out of trouble for a year, or face a $1,500 fine—or six months in jail. Meanwhile, Jacky Auguste, who had way more weed (2.5 oz and 1.5 oz), claimed he was holding it for someone else, got convicted, and paid $850 in fines. Two others had charges dropped.
