- 0:00Welcome to multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke and
- 0:08Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to.
- 0:13All. Things nerdy.
- 0:19Yeah, that's good, pretty good. I am very very hungover and
- 0:23tired. Yeah.
- 0:25I put Christmas drinks and my God, it's I'm too old for that.
- 0:30Matt, you've been in Iceland Wednesday.
- 0:32I understand. I.
- 0:36Had to restrain myself because, you know, I had to go pick my
- 0:39daughter up after the what, Christmas party so I couldn't go
- 0:42to nuts. So.
- 0:45But how's Iceland? Great.
- 0:49Amazing. Yeah, Yeah, I recommend it.
- 0:51I mean, yeah. It's cold.
- 0:53Sick as fuck. It was cold.
- 0:55There was more snow here when I got back than there had been in
- 0:58Iceland, but apparently it's not that unusual.
- 1:01OK, snow like you would think, but it was fucking cold.
- 1:04Yes. And very, very expensive.
- 1:10Yeah. Really.
- 1:10Once you're there, like, I was surprised.
- 1:13I guess I shouldn't have been, but I went to get a mulled wine.
- 1:18While we were. Hanging out at the Christmas
- 1:20markets and they were like he was like that'll be 17,000 krona
- 1:26I think and I was like hi, don't get the conversion on that.
- 1:29So I looked at my phone, I'm like $15 like for a little paper
- 1:33cup and I was like, that seems hell.
- 1:34Wow. And then I googled I.
- 1:36Mean that's a Sydney price right there.
- 1:38Oh, is it? 15 USD.
- 1:41That's 30 Australian dollars. Almost.
- 1:44So I googled, you know, Reykjavik expensive, and
- 1:48everyone's like, oh, it's fucking expensive because it's a
- 1:50island with like one of the things, not many people and
- 1:52resources and, and stuff like, oh, OK, yeah.
- 1:55So I'm gonna be paying out the arse.
- 1:57Yeah. But still worth it and so easy
- 2:02to get to from here that it's bizarre to me that.
- 2:05Yeah, right. Yeah, You forget because you
- 2:07look at a map and you're like, Nah.
- 2:09But then you look at a globe and you're like, oh, you're
- 2:11practically touching. It was just a stop on the way to
- 2:13England. Then they are and they said do
- 2:16you want to stay for a bit longer?
- 2:17And I was like, fuck yeah, I'll guess you Iceland so.
- 2:19Yeah, right. It's like a 5 hour flight from
- 2:21here. Oh, incredible.
- 2:23That all. For, for us, our flight from
- 2:25here, we're still in Australia. Yeah, yeah, it's.
- 2:28True. I mean, you could do that the
- 2:29other way. You used to be sure, America.
- 2:32For us, the starting point is a long way to get there.
- 2:35Once you're there though. But that's why, you know,
- 2:39they've, they've, I think it's pretty much the consensus now
- 2:42that the Vikings got to America before the the Italians did, you
- 2:47know? And it's like, yeah, because
- 2:49they just, they just sailed West to see what was out there.
- 2:53If we keep going, there'll be something.
- 2:55And there was and there was. I got a slight correction for
- 3:01something that I heard Luke say last week.
- 3:04Sorry, no. No, it's all right.
- 3:06It's all right. You've, you've the, the, the
- 3:10Discord server. I haven't set that up yet, so
- 3:15I'll try to do that this week. Now that now that it's been
- 3:17promised to people. Yeah, that's all right.
- 3:21Yeah. It's coming.
- 3:22Yeah, Yeah. No, it's good because.
- 3:24Luke promises things on air and then you have to just stumble
- 3:27around trying to fix it. I said I was going to do it and
- 3:30I forgot is the truth. And then and then Luke.
- 3:34And now it's. Calls me out and now.
- 3:36Now I have to do it, but he does.
- 3:38Yeah. There's yourself calling here on
- 3:40some of your other projects. Wow, the roast of Matt Ham.
- 3:45OK. Yeah, we'll be here all day.
- 3:49We do have some some other follow up Matt, last week's
- 3:53episode you you missed, but Bonnie Blue had been up to no
- 3:57good in Indonesia. Saw slash word.
- 4:00I didn't see anything. I didn't see anything.
- 4:01I wasn't there. I wasn't there.
- 4:02I. Was in Iceland.
- 4:03I suppose I wasn't. That's part of the thing.
- 4:05No one saw anything. The authorities got there early.
- 4:09No proof that they were gonna make a porno, Yeah.
- 4:13Interesting. Oh no, there's.
- 4:15A truth to terror a bunch. Of men.
- 4:18And a camera and. A camera do.
- 4:20You know what she got in trouble for?
- 4:23Because remember seeing her on the back of the Ute the bang bar
- 4:26scene? That's what she got in trouble
- 4:29for, for not using a vehicle for its intended use because she was
- 4:32standing on the back of it with people.
- 4:34Yeah. And you know what?
- 4:35The fine for that was $20. Or one year in jail.
- 4:41Jesus Christ. You get to choose.
- 4:43Yeah, I'll say this. And again, like people can do
- 4:47what they want. I don't want to slut shame.
- 4:49Whatever you're into, whatever you want to do, that's power to
- 4:52her, whatever, whatever. But when I saw her sitting in
- 4:55the back of that truck that they had hand painted bang bus on,
- 4:59driving around the streets of Bali, I was like who is the
- 5:03audience for this and why don't you have more sophisticated
- 5:06taste? Yeah.
- 5:08Well, basically it's for barely legal males.
- 5:14That's the role he is. I know that.
- 5:16I know that's how she says it, but it's just some.
- 5:18It's even dirtier when you say it.
- 5:23I don't see the attraction to her either.
- 5:26It's. No, but I mean no whatever.
- 5:30Whatever. No, I don't.
- 5:32I don't see it either. But yeah, $20 or a year in jail,
- 5:38she paid her $20 and now she's banned from Bali.
- 5:40I I was gonna say, it says here that she's banned from Bali,
- 5:43which, OK, I mean, fairly serious consequences, I suppose
- 5:46you wanna go there, but. I think it's because they knew
- 5:49what the plan was, there was just no evidence for it of
- 5:52course. Oh yeah, yeah, it wasn't like
- 5:55that. Oh sorry, our mistake.
- 5:56It's not coy about this stuff. That would like give us the
- 5:59footage and she's like we haven't started we're.
- 6:00Gonna come in the country and. Fuck all the boys, hmm?
- 6:03You hadn't got heat like 20 minutes later.
- 6:05I probably would have done 3 or 4.
- 6:08Yeah, at a time. Well, all right.
- 6:15Happy ending. Wink, wink.
- 6:17No, not at the time, I'll correct you there.
- 6:19It's because during the last thousand man gangbang they she
- 6:24only worked out to do them one at a time about halfway through.
- 6:27Up until then, it was just everyone crowded around and
- 6:29trying to just put it in her. About halfway through, somebody
- 6:36was like, we need a production manager here to actually.
- 6:39She's not good at logistics, Dad.
- 6:40Tell me Body Blue didn't think these things through.
- 6:46Come on mate. Look I think she need like 1054
- 6:51in 12 hours or something ridiculous.
- 6:55You know what I want to know, you know, there's heaps of guys
- 6:57that were like, oh, it wasn't worth it.
- 6:58I just fucking. I've got only a couple of
- 7:00thrusts in and I didn't even get to finish.
- 7:03How many of them do you reckon finished each other off, back
- 7:05outside? You know what I mean?
- 7:08We're so revved up. Yeah, you'll.
- 7:11There's only one thing to do know.
- 7:16What happens in prison? That's why body blew.
- 7:20I never been to crying in her. In her interview, she was crying
- 7:24because she couldn't get them all to come because it was just
- 7:27a timing thing. It was just.
- 7:29Sure, Yeah, sure she was. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:30She was just so overwhelmed with sadness.
- 7:32Yeah, there's a tears of disappointment on my own part.
- 7:36Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not internal hemorrhaging.
- 7:44Oh man. Still, you definitely want to be
- 7:48one of the first ones. No, I don't don't want to be.
- 7:50Anyone of the 1st. Ones, yeah, but here's the
- 7:54thing. You'd have to go back in time a
- 7:55long way to to be it's it's a it's a long continuous list, you
- 8:00know? Mm.
- 8:00Hmm. I mean, Luke wants to get in
- 8:03there before she figures out that she's got to stop you at a
- 8:06certain point, yeah. But also don't forget Luke.
- 8:09The first ones were like fucking 8 to 12 guys all going around at
- 8:13OH. That's right, you know.
- 8:15Fight. Yeah, Luke's basically said I
- 8:17don't want to wait until it's one-on-one.
- 8:19I want to go in there when it's like every man for himself, I
- 8:22think. Any one of us is alpha enough to
- 8:25to to, you know, enjoy that experience.
- 8:29Yeah, man, you would have to be so fucking detached.
- 8:33Yeah. From humanity.
- 8:36There's only at least 1000 of them that were that detached
- 8:40that they could do it. Yeah, at least not for me.
- 8:45What else has been happening this week?
- 8:50I watched some James Bond movies on the plane.
- 8:52You did, yeah. Yeah, I'm still continuing my my
- 8:55watch of of them all. I've watched.
- 8:57I watched both. Timothy Dalton.
- 8:59On films, it is sad that there's only two Timothy Dalton ones.
- 9:03Yeah, I felt I was like, why did he only do 2?
- 9:05And I looked it up, apparently there was a third in progress.
- 9:09But because of legal rights with the films, because there's this
- 9:12whole, you know, this whole thing about, you know, like
- 9:16never Say never again, there's like, which is technically not
- 9:19an official Bond film because it was Aeon Productions got the
- 9:22rights to Thunderball, but only Thunderball.
- 9:25And so there's like this whole thing where James Bond was kind
- 9:29of split between 2:00. Yeah.
- 9:31And then anything that was in Thunderball is also off the
- 9:35table. They're like Blofeld, for
- 9:37example. Yeah.
- 9:38So it's very. And I think Casino Royale's
- 9:40rights have been sold separately too, which is why that was never
- 9:44a canonical Bond until Daniel Craig.
- 9:46But there is ATV Special based on it and there is that spoof
- 9:50movie because those rights were up for grabs elsewhere.
- 9:54Righto. OK, I like the spoof movie The
- 9:56best. Do you?
- 9:58Yeah, So there's. OK Well, so there was going to
- 10:02be a third one, but it because of all the legal stuff, it got
- 10:05tied up and Timothy Dolan apparently got the shits and
- 10:07said, Nah, I can't be bothered waiting.
- 10:08I need to go. Yeah, I want to go get paid
- 10:10somewhere. I want to get some acting, so
- 10:12yeah, he. Royal Shakespeare Company.
- 10:15So that's a shame and he's very good.
- 10:18Was the third movie going to be Goldeneye and they just recast
- 10:21it or was it going to? Be something that would make
- 10:23sense, but I don't know yeah because his movies I'd.
- 10:26Like to have seen his Goldeneye? The two that he's that I can't
- 10:31remember the name of the first one just.
- 10:34Licensed to kill. Oh.
- 10:35No living daylights. It is Living Daylights.
- 10:39For some reason I kept thinking that's Roger Moore, but no, no,
- 10:43they're very good. And they're much more serious
- 10:46than the Roger Moore ones. They're not completely serious.
- 10:48They still have funny bits. Yeah, like this a bit.
- 10:50Even Living Daylights where the he's got the Aston Martin with
- 10:54all these gadgets, but he's also convinced this woman who's like
- 10:59a Russian defector that he's is that the is that?
- 11:04The one I'm thinking of, yes. Does she play the cello?
- 11:06He doesn't want her to know he's a British agent.
- 11:08So he's just like, oh, that's weird.
- 11:10What's the what's the car shooting at people?
- 11:13That's very that's a little bit silly.
- 11:15And like, he uses a laser to chop the top off a police car
- 11:19and he goes what he gets. Rust damage is terrible around
- 11:22here. And like, so it's got some silly
- 11:24bits, but overall it's much darker.
- 11:27In turn though, yeah. Especially license to kill.
- 11:30License to Kill. Is this quite Somebody gets put
- 11:34into a pressurized? Yeah, it's got Felix lighting.
- 11:38It's eaten by a shark. That's right.
- 11:41Yeah, that guy, what's his name, gets put in the pressure thing
- 11:43and like, blows up and blood. Sprays.
- 11:45I remember seeing that when I was quite young and and thinking
- 11:48that was quite. Felicio Del Toro gets thrown
- 11:50into the the mashing machine for the cocaine and it's blood
- 11:55sprays everywhere. Ruining all that coke.
- 11:59Yeah, well they they burnt the place down after that, so yeah.
- 12:04But they are very good. Snort Benicio del Toro.
- 12:11But I also, you just reminded me when you mentioned Casino Royale
- 12:13that I've been reading the books and they are very good but
- 12:22problematic in certain ways, for example.
- 12:26Gets their existed dishes with all the problematic words still
- 12:29in. There, I, I, that's, we talked
- 12:31about that, right? Yeah.
- 12:32I intentionally tried to find. So Casino Royale doesn't have as
- 12:38much of this. It does have one quote that I
- 12:39wanted to read to you though, because I was reading it and I
- 12:42was like Jesus Christ. Yeah, you gotta wait till he
- 12:43goes to the Caribbean, then it's all.
- 12:46So he he hooks up with Vespa, right?
- 12:49But as you will recall from the film, the place quite similar.
- 12:53She's technically a double agent.
- 12:57Sorry, spoilers, but but oh, you know.
- 12:59From a book from 1950. Yeah, exactly.
- 13:03So while she is having sex with him, she presumably doesn't
- 13:08actually want to 100% or she's feeling unsure about it.
- 13:12And so there's this line where he says that that he's talking
- 13:16about how like, you know, oh, it's fucking great.
- 13:19But like, yeah, sure, if she was caught into it.
- 13:21And then there's this line. But that conquest of her body,
- 13:24because of the central privacy in her, would each time have the
- 13:28sweet Tang of rape. Oh.
- 13:31My God, that's like what the. Fuck.
- 13:36Like in other words, it it was, it was, it would have been good
- 13:40anyway, but it was even better because he just thought, yeah,
- 13:44he doesn't want this. What is the sweet Tang of rape
- 13:47and why are you just putting that in there?
- 13:49Ian Fleming? Why are you referring to it that
- 13:52way? Yeah, how is this?
- 13:53Sweet Tang, I would. Never think to call it that.
- 13:57No, no, a rapist might. Yeah, right.
- 14:01Yeah. But in fact, we would even, we
- 14:03would recontextualize that whole thing by being like, at the time
- 14:06I was having fun, but then I suspected that she wasn't, so it
- 14:09ruined the whole thing for. Me, yeah.
- 14:10Because I kept thinking, oh, I don't, oh, we don't want to do
- 14:12that kind of thing. Yeah.
- 14:13Whereas he's like, oh, this is. Interesting, this is better.
- 14:16I might I might be able to go again actually.
- 14:20Sorry, a little coughing fit there A.
- 14:22Thousand of my mates in. So that that ain't Casino
- 14:27Royale. And then also in I'm now into
- 14:30Live and Let Die, which is actually the second book, which
- 14:33is, as you'll recall, the one about the kind of voodoo stuff
- 14:36with Tanaka in the in the in the movie, but in this.
- 14:41It's not. Is that the second book?
- 14:43Yes. In public order.
- 14:44Wow, I. Mean it's of it's time.
- 14:48It's just got a lot of the N word, yeah, but it's not used.
- 14:53It's used casually in a way where I think obviously he's not
- 14:58trying to be racist or anything, he's just using the palace at
- 15:00the time, but it's just very confronting now it's got and
- 15:04sorry the the 2 N words because there's.
- 15:07Yes, the NE and the NI. Correct.
- 15:09Yeah, both of them. Like as in that is just how they
- 15:12describe people. One of those I feel is almost
- 15:16still fine in its historical context.
- 15:20Right, except for the other ones, because I remember when we
- 15:22talked about, I think we talked about this with the, with the,
- 15:26the rework of the books they removed, they said one of the
- 15:31things they addressed was that he, he mentions unnecessarily at
- 15:35times the race of people, but he does.
- 15:38And so I and reading it, I was just like, yeah, I don't, I
- 15:41didn't need to, didn't need to say it.
- 15:43That way didn't add anything to what was.
- 15:47I've been reading a lot of Graham Greene, who is a
- 15:49contemporary of Fleming and also writes spy fiction and espionage
- 15:53fiction. He does the same thing too.
- 15:55It's like you didn't have to put the N word in front of that
- 15:57sentence. Correct, he could have just the
- 16:00the man. And I would have gotten by all
- 16:01the context clues that that he was black.
- 16:03Like you've made that abundantly clear without having to pop that
- 16:07little signifier in there. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:11So I mean, but other than that, they are actually very good.
- 16:16Like I can see why they were popular.
- 16:18They're kind of kind of interesting and thrilling.
- 16:21And the and the Felix light of getting eaten by shark is in
- 16:23that book in. Yeah, to live and let die, which
- 16:27is also interesting to see. Oh, Felix is more than that.
- 16:31They take a train. Yeah.
- 16:34Well, he if he if he doesn't die, he's missing limb.
- 16:36He's got bites at him, so yeah, right.
- 16:38Yeah. And then there's they catch a
- 16:40train down from from New York to Florida.
- 16:44So there's bits in that as if there's still these bits that
- 16:46I'm like, oh, OK, that's in this film.
- 16:48And they've taken that and they've put it in here.
- 16:50And then, yeah, it's just interesting.
- 16:52Oh that is interesting. I've only read a couple of the
- 16:55books. I have read Casino Royale and I
- 16:59for some reason I randomly read The Man with the Golden Gun.
- 17:02I read that From Russia With Love, but I think they're the
- 17:05only three I've read. I would like to go through them.
- 17:13I watched an interesting movie this week.
- 17:14Sweet Tang. That's not the that's not the
- 17:18name of this podcast. OK, it's not.
- 17:23Not even just Sweet Tang, it's just none of it's going in
- 17:25there. Yeah, Tang is I just it's just a
- 17:29drink here. I.
- 17:30Did see AI did see a meme? Yeah I remember Tang from the
- 17:3380s. I saw a meme the other day.
- 17:36What? Not a meme but just something on
- 17:38the Internet. It's all memes now.
- 17:39It's just, they all look like memes.
- 17:41Somebody said. I, I, I read the, the book Jaws
- 17:44that the movie Jaws is based on and they're like the lead guy
- 17:48says faggot in the 1st chapter and she's like, but this is the
- 17:52lead guy. Like what's the shark gonna say?
- 18:06But I watched a movie called The Carpenter's Son.
- 18:10Oh, I have that ready to watch, but I have not watched it.
- 18:13Look, I loved it, but it's not what you think.
- 18:18And I don't know who this movie's for, right?
- 18:22Because, yes, this can only be described as a horror movie
- 18:28about Jesus as a child. Right, Right.
- 18:33Starring Nicolas Cage. Yeah.
- 18:35OK. All the elements are there and
- 18:38it is that, but it is not some like tongue in cheek.
- 18:43She's hot. It is deadly serious and like
- 18:47biblically accurate to the infant Gospel of Thomas, which
- 18:50is based on one, she was one of the synoptic gospels like the
- 18:54non canonical gospels, right, right.
- 18:56And it's basically just what would happen if you were a small
- 19:00family back in like fucking 015AD and your little boy was
- 19:09doing magic. Like you'd be like, is this OK
- 19:12or is this really fucked? Like so Nicolas Cage plays
- 19:17Joseph and he's like, don't be doing any of that fucking magic
- 19:20shit. Right?
- 19:22And then and then Mary seems OK with it and he's like, tell me
- 19:27again who his fucking dad is. Tell me in.
- 19:30My fucking face. And she's like, God, he's like,
- 19:33yeah, you're still going with that.
- 19:34OK, fine. Like it's.
- 19:37But it's fucking great. Like I reckon it's.
- 19:40Sort of a horror movie. I thought it'd be sort of like
- 19:43where he comes back to life and I.
- 19:46Was expecting that presents the resurrection.
- 19:49Yeah, but it is not it is like you would have to understand
- 19:53enough about the Bible to appreciate the detail that
- 19:57they've put into this movie. Yeah, right.
- 19:59But at the same time. Be open enough to a radical
- 20:04interpretation, yeah, you know, to not be completely offended by
- 20:08it. I'm.
- 20:09Certainly. Open that guy does he up on
- 20:12stage he kills at least one person in this Yeah, there's
- 20:18this awesome bit where someone someone dares him because
- 20:22they're they're kids, right? It's kids.
- 20:23Someone dares him to touch this leper, you know, touch it.
- 20:27Fucking touch it. And he's getting real close.
- 20:29And and then he does touch it and he gets fucking healed,
- 20:33right? And that's how he realizes he
- 20:34can heal people. But everyone thinks, you know,
- 20:37like, that's not natural, right? But then he works out.
- 20:40He can do it in reverse, and he fucking magics the life out of
- 20:43some guy. Yeah, right.
- 20:45Like, oh God, yeah, he's got to load his power somehow.
- 20:49That's right, Luke. God, yeah.
- 20:51Yeah, your Lord and mine. But it's very good.
- 20:56Nicolas Cage is very good. It's very good.
- 20:59FKA Twigs, whoever the fuck that is, is very good.
- 21:02FKA twigs? I've heard of that.
- 21:04She's in the Crow remake and this and I think she's a.
- 21:07Musician. Oh yeah, I know her.
- 21:10Very. Odd name, odd lady by the look
- 21:14of it. On a good way.
- 21:17I'll. Have to check that out.
- 21:18Speaking of Nicholas Cage, just, well, we're in in Manchester at
- 21:22the hotel Lira went to bed, obviously because child and on
- 21:27the TV was The Unbearable Weight.
- 21:30Oh. I still haven't seen that or.
- 21:31Talent, whatever it is that the guy's so fucking good, I've got
- 21:34to. Watch it.
- 21:35The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, something like that.
- 21:37Yeah, I do have to watch that, Yeah.
- 21:38Pedro Pascal is so good in it. Is he?
- 21:42He's so funny, you've got to watch it.
- 21:45Always quite good. I don't think I've ever watched
- 21:47a Pedro Pascal movie and went me.
- 21:50He's like the the head of this like arms cartel and like but
- 21:56he's like this really mild mannered guy who just wants to
- 21:58make a movie like you got. Oh, he's so.
- 22:00Funny. Cool.
- 22:02Yeah, I was. Read this script that he wants
- 22:03to watch this cage to be in his movie.
- 22:06Did you end up seeing the second Wonder Woman movie, Matt?
- 22:10I know Luke and I saw it, but. No, I did hear that he basically
- 22:15spends half the movie looking like he's just shocked at how
- 22:17bad Gal Gadot is. Like in the movie he's like.
- 22:23Have you seen there's a I've I've seen it on Instagram, but I
- 22:25think she's a tik toker. But she does.
- 22:28She looks a bit like Gal Gadot, and she's like, what if Gal
- 22:30Gadot was in this video? Harry Potter.
- 22:33Yeah, you're Harry Potter. I mean, it's it's mean, but
- 22:40it's. Oh yeah, but it was dead
- 22:43accurate. It's fucking bang on.
- 22:47Yeah. God, that went down the wrong
- 22:51way. That lime cordial.
- 22:53This is why I drink beer. Never had that problem with
- 22:57beer. I do receive to recall about a
- 23:00year ago that Luke was like, you know what guys?
- 23:04I'm drinking fucking 10 gin and tonics every night.
- 23:07I'm getting out of shape. I'm going to, I'm going to get
- 23:09healthy. I'm going to start drinking
- 23:10sugar free tonic. Have you, Luke, have you
- 23:16switched to sugar free tonic? I have.
- 23:18OK, good boy. I I drank Hoxton quite a bit
- 23:24when I was in the Cotswolds. Hoxton.
- 23:27Yeah. Jeremy Clarkson's beer.
- 23:28Oh. Yes, because you went there,
- 23:30didn't you? I did.
- 23:31It's OK. Make some good beer at Hoxton.
- 23:34Go to the brewery. Is it an?
- 23:36Aisle or a lager or a start? What?
- 23:37Is it they make all of this, They make all the companies.
- 23:39They've got Ipas, they've got lagers.
- 23:41The the premium lager I think is their kind of main 1 and it is
- 23:45delicious. Yeah, I drink that a few times.
- 23:49Yeah. And then with the farmer's dog,
- 23:50with those who've seen Clarkson's Farm, we'll know what
- 23:52that is. It's his kind of pub restaurant.
- 23:56Yeah. It's busy, nice man, it's all
- 23:59his. All the stuff he's got there is
- 24:00very nice and very well done. I.
- 24:03Mean he's got the money, but. Yeah.
- 24:06He's he's also trying to inject money into the town and stuff as
- 24:09well from. Yeah, so we made the restaurant.
- 24:11Show. We had dinner at the restaurant.
- 24:12Sometimes. Everything there, it says the
- 24:14signs up that says everything you're eating was grown in the
- 24:18area. Or at the very least if we
- 24:20couldn't get it in this area, it's from Britain.
- 24:22There isn't nothing on this menu.
- 24:24There's not from Britain and like outside.
- 24:27So they've got the tent from the Grand Tour is now a shop there.
- 24:31You can go in and they've got like there's like a they sell
- 24:34the beer and they sell all sorts of stuff like Diddly Squat farm
- 24:39merch. I got AI got gin, Diddly Squat
- 24:41Gin. I got we got a bunch of stuff,
- 24:43but there's a like a burger truck out the side of the Grand
- 24:49Tour tent during the day. So you can get like get like a
- 24:51burger. And there's a big sign that
- 24:53says, can I have ketchup? No, you can't have fucking
- 24:55ketchup. And then underneath it explains
- 24:57they don't make ketchup in Britain.
- 24:58You can't have it, right? It's like, yeah, we own, yeah,
- 25:02only British stuff. It's quite cool.
- 25:04What sauce do they put on a burger?
- 25:07I didn't get a burger because they didn't have a veggie one.
- 25:08It's a good question. Yeah, I guess that was going to
- 25:10be my next question. HP sauce probably.
- 25:13Oh, HP Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't mind.
- 25:16They're big on vinegar and chips over there, aren't they?
- 25:18Yes, I love vinegar and chips. That's the best.
- 25:21Yeah, I actually used vinegar this week for some cleaning
- 25:24because, you know, I'm just fucking fully domesticated now,
- 25:28but just the smell of it made me want chips.
- 25:30Delicious. No, you.
- 25:31Can't really get them anymore. It's not really chips on offer.
- 25:35No vinegar and chips. Oh, even chips like the the
- 25:38chips like we used to have as a kid.
- 25:40No, yeah. That don't exist and I don't
- 25:42mean England. There was somewhere here I got
- 25:44chips the other day that. That were good.
- 25:46Oh, it was a pub in we went to lunch at work and there was to
- 25:51like, it's like an Irish pub. And they gave, I got fish and
- 25:54chips and it was actual proper chips, like I would know them,
- 25:56not fries like they usually do. Yeah, right.
- 25:58I put some malt vinegar on the table and I was like, oh fuck
- 26:00yeah. Hello.
- 26:02Yeah, it was an American. No, it was an Irish pub.
- 26:09Yeah, had a good time. Lyra has told us that she never
- 26:13wants to go to another restaurant.
- 26:15We obviously we're on vacation. Sit there.
- 26:19Quietly. Yeah, so we had to, I mean,
- 26:21that's how you eat when you're on vacation because you can't
- 26:23cook anything, right? And literally the third day
- 26:27we're in Wrexham and we walk in. It's it's in the evening, we
- 26:30walk into a brewery and she walks in and she looks around
- 26:34and she goes, why are we in another restaurant?
- 26:38Like. Some people start looking over
- 26:40and we're like, what? She she goes, I'm not going to
- 26:42any more restaurants. I will not.
- 26:45And then it's like, all right, honey, just come and stay. 4
- 26:48year olds ever get to Antrim? And then in the hotel in
- 26:51Manchester, we said, OK, good brush.
- 26:53We've been walking around all day looking at the Christmas
- 26:55markets in Manchester, and she was a trooper.
- 26:58But then she goes, we say, go brush your teeth.
- 27:00So she goes in the bathroom and then we can hear and they're
- 27:01going, Illyria, come over here. Let's go look at this.
- 27:04Illyria, let's go over there. Look at this over and over
- 27:07again. Why is everybody making me walk
- 27:09all over the place? I'm sick of it.
- 27:10I just want to relax while I want vacation.
- 27:13Amazing, amazing. And so she was just having that
- 27:18conversation with herself. Fucking 4 year old having a rant
- 27:21in the bathroom. It's very fun, there's some
- 27:26interesting teenagers. It's like the last episode of
- 27:29The Jinx. Yes, exactly.
- 27:31Yeah, left the mic on. Yeah.
- 27:35So so we met to find some more kid friendly stuff for her to
- 27:40do. Obviously.
- 27:40Yeah. Fair, Yeah.
- 27:43Because it's hard. You want to try and pack as much
- 27:44as you can in, but I don't want to.
- 27:46Be bored. It's just very difficult
- 27:48because, like, you know, you're on vacation.
- 27:51And then again, I don't know, kids can be bored by things that
- 27:55shouldn't be boring to them too. Like it's just true.
- 27:58Yeah, we will go to the library today.
- 28:00And just before we left, HUB was like, I'm just going to get my
- 28:02iPad. And we're like, why?
- 28:05Just like, it's like I watch my iPad in the library.
- 28:07I'm like. Yeah, why are we going to a lot
- 28:10of books? Watch your.
- 28:11IPad when we get back here. We took, yeah, Lyra's frabinet,
- 28:19as she calls it. She knows that tablets are
- 28:22tablets, but hers? It's still called Frabinet
- 28:25because that's what she called it because it was.
- 28:26Always called. Yeah, and it's just like at some
- 28:29point. She's going to stop you for now.
- 28:31Yeah, it's. Like, yeah, OK, that's Frabinet
- 28:33and all the others are tablets. It's like.
- 28:36Funny. There's been some Avengers
- 28:42doomsday news. This week.
- 28:46The trailer leaked apparently. I haven't seen, did you either
- 28:48you guys see it? No, 'cause the trailer's still
- 28:50not out yet. Anytime it sort of gets put up,
- 28:53it's taken down. Yes, I've never been able to
- 28:55catch it. Yeah, yeah, there's a bunch of
- 28:57AI ones, but don't be fools. It is out like out out now
- 29:01because it's with in front of the new Avatar movie.
- 29:04MMM, you've got some James Cameron used to.
- 29:07But so, so people have seen it and we've confirmed the main
- 29:10thing, which is, I mean, people are complaining about spoilers
- 29:13because of this, but it's not fucking spoiler.
- 29:14It's in all the trailers and everybody just knows Chris Evans
- 29:18is back, Captain America's back. They have fucking undone all
- 29:24that shit because nobody's watching these movies anymore.
- 29:27Yeah, just put the cut, put the cast we like back in.
- 29:31Roman Danny Junior's back. He's a different character.
- 29:34But is he back? Let's see how they play it out.
- 29:37Yes. So yeah, sad, honestly, in a
- 29:43way, it's like I'm. Not going to try to see Avatar
- 29:46and tomorrow and. Have you seen the second avatar?
- 29:51I've seen the second one. OK.
- 29:52I haven't seen the second one. I haven't.
- 29:54Wouldn't it's way the first avatar was so bad?
- 29:59I liked it when I first saw it. I haven't really watched it
- 30:02again since I'm. I think he liked how good it
- 30:05looked. I don't think he liked the.
- 30:06Movie. Yeah, because that's what I
- 30:09remember taking from it. I still remember the.
- 30:11Best description of it was from friend of the podcast Brian
- 30:14Moses, who said he felt like he was getting a massage and the
- 30:18massage was OK, but he could feel the masseuse's erection
- 30:21pressing against him. And it just it.
- 30:24Just ruined it. Yeah, well, we've got some
- 30:32Avatar related news actually, if you want to talk about this.
- 30:34This made me laugh because. James Cameron.
- 30:36Yeah, so Matt Damon apparently said a few years ago, he claimed
- 30:43in an interview that he had been cast in Avatar as Jake Sully is
- 30:49the lead role, but he turned it down because he was doing a
- 30:53Bourne movie and even though they had offered him 10% of
- 30:57Avatars prophet. Oh wow.
- 31:00He had had to turn it down and and so he always felt like you'd
- 31:05missed out because of that. And then the premise of this
- 31:09article is that James Cameron is is shooting down that.
- 31:12But let me read you what James Cameron said.
- 31:14And you tell me if this sounds like he's saying this didn't
- 31:18happen or if he's saying in a weird way that it did happen.
- 31:22So he says he was never offered the part.
- 31:25I can't remember if I sent him the script or not.
- 31:27I don't think I did. And then we wound up on a call
- 31:30and he said I'd love to explore doing a movie with you.
- 31:32I have a lot of respect for you as a filmmaker.
- 31:34Avatar sounds intriguing, but I really have to do this Jason
- 31:37Bourne movie. I've agreed to it.
- 31:38It's a direct conflict, so regretfully I have to turn it
- 31:41down. But he was never offered.
- 31:42There was never there was. We never talked about the
- 31:45character. We never got to that level.
- 31:46It was simply an availability issue.
- 31:49Like what? It doesn't sound like it, James,
- 31:52it sounds like and then and then the next.
- 31:53He says later on he felt compelled to call me personally
- 31:56and tell me he didn't want it to come from his agent.
- 31:58That's an honourable guy. Why would he?
- 32:00Why was it his agent have called you about a thing?
- 32:03That called you? Yeah, out of the fucking blue.
- 32:07Yeah, so I mean, but that this matters, but it doesn't sound
- 32:10like he wasn't offered that James the way you're.
- 32:12Telling it sounds like yeah. It sounds like he's.
- 32:14Open admitting that you. Are asking him to be in the
- 32:16movie and he called you to say he couldn't do it and you.
- 32:20It feels like he's just an an old rambling man.
- 32:23And he even said, look, I've I love your films.
- 32:26I've always wanted to work with you.
- 32:27I respect you as a director, but I just can't.
- 32:29It's just the timing. He throws that in there too, He
- 32:32told me. He told me how good I was.
- 32:33He told me was very handsome. And yeah, that's right, he told
- 32:36me if the biggest penis you've I've ever seen.
- 32:38But yeah, it's a very strange. More like he was offered than it
- 32:47wasn't. That's.
- 32:47What I'm saying, even the way he's telling it sounds like
- 32:50obviously more to it than that. We never talked 100.
- 32:53He just called me to tell me he couldn't do it.
- 32:56OK, why? And I respect him for calling me
- 32:58and telling me in person. Yeah, because otherwise his
- 33:00agent would have had to do it. Why would his agent have had to
- 33:03do that? If he was an office, I had even
- 33:05sent him the script giving him nothing.
- 33:07But yeah, I. Don't remember even sending him
- 33:09the script but anyway he said to me I love the script.
- 33:11Am I? Supposed to call James Cameron
- 33:12every time he makes a movie and say sorry mate I can't do it.
- 33:15Sorry, I wasn't in that movie. I respect you as a film maker,
- 33:20but I just don't have the time. I've got work.
- 33:21I've got work. In the morning.
- 33:23Yeah, that's very funny. Yeah.
- 33:28And there's another one that I thought he does get up for good,
- 33:31Zynga, I think in this one, which is he was talking about
- 33:35how science fiction films aren't really recognized in the Academy
- 33:40Awards and such because, for example, Denny Villeneuve didn't
- 33:45get best director for Dune, even though largely, but I think
- 33:48people agree those were. There's some of the better films
- 33:51of Yeah. And, And so James Cameron says,
- 33:55you know, Denis Ville, you've made those two magnificent Dune
- 33:58films. But apparently these films made
- 33:59themselves because he wasn't considered a director, not even
- 34:02by the Directors Guild. It's like, OK, you can play the
- 34:05awards games or you can play the game that I like to play, which
- 34:08is make movies that people actually go to.
- 34:13Yeah. That was a pretty good zinger
- 34:15I'll give him. Enough and not many people.
- 34:17People could say it, but James Cameron can say it.
- 34:20Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so far.
- 34:22Because honestly, up until Avatar, I've watched anything he
- 34:24fucking made. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:26Yeah, I think these Avatar sequels are will test the James
- 34:33Cameron's ability to, I don't think go.
- 34:34To theatre, even the last one did that well.
- 34:36I think I had like a good opening weekend, but I don't
- 34:38think. Enough people who?
- 34:39Don't know. Sure anyone out?
- 34:40I'd forgotten. Like he did have.
- 34:43Was it from Titanic on? Maybe it was before Titanic, but
- 34:46from Titanic? Top grossing film of all time.
- 34:49Yeah, he just toppled them repeatedly.
- 34:52And so he has does have a track record where he can, yeah, he
- 34:54can say this stuff, but. Yeah.
- 34:59Yeah, and then I've I also see he's claimed something else this
- 35:04week. Is that true?
- 35:05Yeah, James. Cameron he has.
- 35:07He has officially stated that he wrote the script for Point Break
- 35:11that his then wife uncredited him.
- 35:16Oh. And and and went and made the
- 35:20movie with her name, with only her name on it.
- 35:23And he just kept quiet about it until now.
- 35:25And that's why ex-wife I. Don't know about that.
- 35:31He's got a couple of ex wives. Yeah, he does, yeah.
- 35:34Because he keeps the other Hamilton being.
- 35:36One of them. Yeah, I'll take any of his
- 35:38sloppy seconds, that's for sure. Speaking of Lyndon Hamilton,
- 35:42Stranger Things. Oh she's not?
- 35:45Yes she is. I've only watched the 1st 2
- 35:46episodes so just watch what you say all.
- 35:49Right, but she's in that. She's in it now, OK.
- 35:51I've seen her, yeah. I haven't started yet, I might
- 35:54start. That she has an identical twin.
- 35:56I did know that, yeah. I did not know that.
- 35:58Yeah, I found out. This week I just, I, I just saw
- 36:01a picture and it was like Linda Hamilton and her twin.
- 36:04And I was like, oh. Linda Hamilton and Linda
- 36:06Hamilton, Yes, I promised the listeners.
- 36:17When I updated the Patreon, I promised the patrons a new
- 36:20segment. OK.
- 36:23So we could, I don't know if it's going to be good, but did
- 36:25you want to try out a new segment?
- 36:27Let's. Try it.
- 36:27Definitely try a new segment, yeah.
- 36:29All right. I'm going to call this segment
- 36:31review review. And I love it.
- 36:35What I'd like to do, just for funsies, is take a look at some
- 36:39negative reviews of films that we like and just see how we feel
- 36:44about that, right? So I thought to kick it off, I'd
- 36:49go with an obvious think obvious movie to start and that is Star
- 36:53Wars. A.
- 36:55New Hope specifically. Great.
- 36:57Yep. Little bit of Star Wars news
- 36:58later, we'll tease that. All right, very good.
- 37:01I won't spend too long on it because I don't know.
- 37:04Yeah. Is this?
- 37:05A contemporary review. The Review.
- 37:07Yes, I want to know when the review came out.
- 37:09Yeah. Yeah, these are contemporary
- 37:10reviews. That's how I thought that would
- 37:11be interesting because obviously we have nostalgia in a way that
- 37:14people don't when they watch it now.
- 37:15Yeah, when they've just gone to see it.
- 37:18First review What's the point of this movie?
- 37:21Spaceships don't even exist. Actually, they do.
- 37:27Feels very modern. That feels like a like a modern.
- 37:30But don't we have spaceships like, I don't understand,
- 37:33classified like the old shuttles of spaceships?
- 37:36Yeah, What is it? What am I watching?
- 37:38What is this? Wookie.
- 37:39Wookie isn't real. I've never.
- 37:41Seen a wookie? Why have I not heard about this?
- 37:44What is this documentary? Next review I didn't watch this
- 37:50but I had a really bad day today.
- 37:51I almost fell down the stairs I was so scared.
- 37:54I just definitely laugh. Someone felt the need to post
- 37:57that on the Star? Wars, who's just lonely.
- 37:58You wanted to talk to someone and that's his safe face.
- 38:03Star Wars more like stupid fucking dumb shit movie for butt
- 38:06heads. A good one.
- 38:11My history teacher in middle school made me write a 5 page
- 38:14essay on how this shit relates to the Roman Empire and I
- 38:17fucking hated it ever since. I didn't like do neither, and
- 38:20I'm only minorly amused by Georgia CGI monster editions in
- 38:23this 2011 revision. Oh wow.
- 38:26OK. If you watch Star Wars you get
- 38:30no pussy. Sorry, he's saying the only
- 38:32thing he liked were the extra bits added in in 2011.
- 38:35He was really mildly interested in those.
- 38:38Yeah, but that was the best part for it.
- 38:44Oh, this one. This one will trigger you
- 38:47probably. Presumably this is something of
- 38:50a let down after Avenge of the Sith.
- 38:52Perhaps I should have watched these films in order of release.
- 38:54I mean, it's perfectly fine, but is this honestly better than the
- 38:56prequels? Really.
- 38:58Cool, cool. It's not our world anymore.
- 39:03But I could understand watching it that way you go, why did it
- 39:07like it was very difficult because.
- 39:09Everyone suddenly got mustaches. Yes.
- 39:13Yeah, where's all the lightsaber fights and people, Jedi throwing
- 39:17things at each other? Yeah, Jedi speed that never gets
- 39:20used again all. Right, we'll get into some more
- 39:24serious ones because those are obviously just silly.
- 39:26You know what I found I had to do was you can't look at the one
- 39:29star reviews. They're just trash.
- 39:31You got to go like 3 star if you actually want a.
- 39:33Reasonable. Sort of actual.
- 39:35Somebody who's actually watched the whole.
- 39:36Movie. It might be somewhat
- 39:37interesting, yeah. A New Hope is easily my least
- 39:41favorite in the franchise. I get that it was influential
- 39:44for its time, but watching it now, it just doesn't hold up.
- 39:46The visuals feel outdated, the pacing is too slow, and the
- 39:48story feels kind of empty. It's a simple hero's journey,
- 39:52but nothing really stands out compared to later movies.
- 39:55The acting is hit or miss. 4 is great.
- 39:56Hamill feels awkward at times. While I respect what it did for
- 39:59cinema, as a movie, it's just not that engaging.
- 40:02What do you guys think about that?
- 40:05It's hard for me to. Agree specifics.
- 40:07It's hard to pick it apart, really isn't.
- 40:10It it is hard for me to agree, but is that because I saw it in
- 40:12a time when I mean. When that was the greatest thing
- 40:16that had ever been made. I don't understand how you
- 40:19wouldn't be engaged by it, but then I've I watched it a long
- 40:23time. I find it hard really saying
- 40:24it's slow. I think what they mean is just
- 40:28in terms of pacing out the story, it's there's like heaps
- 40:34on Tatooine and then they get off Tatooine and then there's
- 40:38heaps on their way to the death * and then they do the Death
- 40:41Star and then it's then, then it's the assault at the end.
- 40:44Like it's nothing. Everything just happens very
- 40:47chronologically, this and then this and then this.
- 40:51There's no like the movie. Movie time versus real, real
- 40:56lifetime. But that's what made movies in
- 40:59the 70s. Because one I saw that didn't
- 41:01include either mentioned the the, the the big battle at the
- 41:05end and just how boring that was.
- 41:07Like they were in they liked the movie and then at the last 20
- 41:09minutes they were just like, I know, right.
- 41:11But it's just like I guess. Because the trench run let them
- 41:13down. What?
- 41:15Yeah. And I maybe that's because
- 41:17modern action is just so like more genetic stimulating.
- 41:22Yeah. Like whereas I mean at the time
- 41:25this was that, yes. Like, even the battle at the
- 41:29start of Revenge of the Sith, that is like a lot of stuff
- 41:33going on ship blowing up everywhere.
- 41:35Like there's some people like there, yeah.
- 41:38Yeah, it's the only part of Revenge of the Sith I liked.
- 41:41Was that that one scene? Yeah.
- 41:43Battle of the The opening. I thought, oh, we're on the
- 41:45right track and. Then yeah.
- 41:48It started talking again. Yeah.
- 41:52But yes, so some, some, some critical, it's a critical views
- 41:56of a New Hope. That's great.
- 41:58That's very good. Another one I looked at was
- 42:02Blade Runner. Because.
- 42:05I know people don't like it but. There are people that don't like
- 42:08this and I'll say before we even begin, it is very slow.
- 42:14I fucking. Love it.
- 42:14It is, but it's very slow it I like that about.
- 42:19It to be slow. Yeah, I like that about it.
- 42:21But I understand if you don't. That's fine.
- 42:23Yeah, all. Right.
- 42:26Reviews of Blade Runner? No offence but literally what
- 42:28the fuck is this about? When you have to start a review
- 42:32with the phrase no offence, no. Offence.
- 42:36I kept falling asleep and then waking up to flashing lights and
- 42:39synth music. I don't know what happened.
- 42:44I like this one. Apparently everyone in the
- 42:48future is miserable with a great coat.
- 42:51Yeah, like that. We've got nothing bad to say
- 42:54about that review. That review gets 10 out of 10,
- 42:57Yeah. Slowest movie ever and people
- 43:00will continue to talk about it as a cult classic on the same
- 43:02level as Titans like Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones 0 action
- 43:06until the end. Harrison Ford is great and the
- 43:08world is interesting but nothing happens in this movie.
- 43:11It's a 2 hour piss break. Wow.
- 43:19Yeah, well, so. Yeah, I can sort of understand
- 43:22why. It is a very, very slow movie.
- 43:26Yes, yeah. Takes its time, yeah.
- 43:29Yeah, I think also people forget like.
- 43:31To watch it on it's time, not on your time.
- 43:34Isn't it our whole thing about people wanting to get off Earth?
- 43:38Sure to the. Earth is.
- 43:40Yeah, is. Street like, that's what it is
- 43:43and that's why people want to leave.
- 43:46Yeah, except for the replicas that want to come to Earth to.
- 43:51They're looking for a cure. Their lives, yeah.
- 43:54So this one I think is interesting and it's got,
- 43:56there's a clue in this one as to to something.
- 43:59So you'll you'll know after decades of hype.
- 44:03What in the heck was that? In light of this, I'm rethinking
- 44:06Scott's filmography. I'm thinking he never had it.
- 44:08I'm thinking there never was. Source.
- 44:10This is such a mess. The questions aren't even deep.
- 44:13It holds up visually more or less, but is absolutely bereft
- 44:16of substance, concept or nuance. What?
- 44:21Horrendous, inconsistent exposition dumps from a voice
- 44:23over. Terrible editing, especially
- 44:27towards the end. Unreasonably jarring.
- 44:29No characters. Harrison spends the climax of
- 44:31the movie running around without meaning or clarity or saying
- 44:34anything, literally just grunting as he climbs around
- 44:37using his broken fingers. No subtlety, no nuance, and no
- 44:42room for scenes to breathe. Oh, not slow.
- 44:47Enough. So strange.
- 44:49Wow, I. Find that review very strange.
- 44:51And the yes, the voice over. OK, they watched the theatrical
- 44:55version. Fair enough.
- 44:55It's different. Yeah.
- 44:56And look, if that's the version you saw and you didn't like it,
- 45:01OK, that's not your fault. Like, sure, even Ridley Scott
- 45:05didn't like it. You know what I mean?
- 45:07Like, But we were just lucky that we grew up with the VHS
- 45:10version, which was different. Yes, the.
- 45:12Yeah, the director's cat. Yeah, but just the no.
- 45:15Bereft of substance, concept or nuance, Plain watch.
- 45:19It again mate yeah, maybe you just didn't get it I.
- 45:22Think, yeah, I don't know. I just don't.
- 45:26Yeah, I don't think you paid attention to what was happening
- 45:29at all. Well.
- 45:31It wasn't that. Might be why, which is fine I
- 45:33guess I just find it. Yeah, I mean, the guy who kept
- 45:36falling asleep, I can understand why he didn't get it.
- 45:39Yeah, exactly. I didn't see enough of it.
- 45:41But like, yeah, no room for the scenes to breathe.
- 45:45It's just densely packed with action.
- 45:48It's. Way.
- 45:49Too. Way too things happened way too
- 45:51fast. Yeah, he was just looking at
- 45:53that fucking snake scale. Yeah.
- 45:55And I. The close up of the fucking
- 45:59origami Unicorn just didn't hold long enough.
- 46:05I've got one more for you. OK.
- 46:08Citizen Kane. Oh, here we go.
- 46:13Shitizen Kane one staff love it. No, it's a great review.
- 46:21Come on. Yeah, you get a point for the
- 46:26for the word play here. We go boring, mysterious,
- 46:30underwhelming, dated, disappointing, well made, well
- 46:33shot and overrated. Happy 100.
- 46:36Mysterious. Day, Orson Wells.
- 46:42OK. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 46:45Such a funny list of boring, mysterious.
- 46:50See, I've never seen Citizen Kane, and I don't think I would
- 46:53like it. Probably not.
- 46:55Yeah. Not you.
- 46:57I don't. Yeah, probably not you.
- 47:00Boring and mysterious. It's the movie equivalent of
- 47:02reading a book. This one's funny, I think you're
- 47:10telling me you're looking me in the eye and telling me this is
- 47:13supposed to be one of the best movies ever made.
- 47:16Calling it a steaming pile of dog shit left in Arizona heat so
- 47:19it starts to melt and stains the ground covering it in slick dog
- 47:22shit that people keep slipping on.
- 47:23And you slipped on it. And you went to court for your
- 47:25partner of 12 years who just fucking died by a drunk driver.
- 47:27The jury found them guilty and not guilty and your childhood
- 47:30dog just died. And you not only end up getting
- 47:32pink eye from slipping and falling in the hot dog shit, you
- 47:35break your ankle and cover your rented suit.
- 47:37And steaming dog shit would be a compliment I don't think you
- 47:44like. It so you put a lot of effort
- 47:46into that. Yeah, I quite like it.
- 47:49I'll say this though, it's not my favorite of Orson Welles
- 47:51movies, not by a long shot. It's no Transformers.
- 47:55It's a reasonable. One, it's no Transformers the
- 47:57movie, Yeah. Unicron.
- 48:01I was hoping I'd feel different about Citizen Kane after not
- 48:04seeing it for a number of years, and although I can certainly
- 48:06still appreciate the technical aspects, the acting, and the
- 48:08craft, I'm just not overly interested in what's going on.
- 48:11The pacing is sluggish and the story isn't engaging enough for
- 48:14me personally. I think it's a reasonable.
- 48:16I mean, that's perfectly fine because it is.
- 48:18It is. It is a slow paced movie again
- 48:21and it's a man's entire life from his birthday.
- 48:23It is an achievement, but he's bored.
- 48:25Yeah, yeah. And you didn't like it?
- 48:27Fine. Yeah.
- 48:29Yeah. Anyway, that's that's review,
- 48:32review. I just thought that was fun.
- 48:34Yep, 10 out of 10 and the segment is reviewed 10 out of 10
- 48:38as well. Very good.
- 48:41If you want me to do that again, listeners, yes, let me know.
- 48:44Please, no, I don't care if the listeners want it.
- 48:46I want it all right. I I also have a segment of
- 48:50slickers. What, because it's a Christmas
- 48:54episode? We forgot to say.
- 48:55Oh. Fuck yeah it is 0.
- 48:56It is too Christmas episode. Merry Christmas listeners.
- 48:59Merry Christmas. Yeah.
- 49:01And you know, we used to do a lot of very, very crisp.
- 49:05We used to lean. Into the Christmas.
- 49:07We haven't you. Lads, you lads everywhere in
- 49:08Iceland, by the way. Oh, I bet there are.
- 49:11Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 49:12Did you have to miss your Yule party because you were in
- 49:14Iceland? Or are you going to cram
- 49:15tonight? I'm gonna have to try and have a
- 49:17nap today because it's OK. Yeah, it's tonight, Yeah.
- 49:20I'd have a nap today, but I thought I would read a celebrity
- 49:28Christmas message. This is This is a Christmas
- 49:32message. You're going to sing it like Gal
- 49:34Gadot. No, because it wasn't sung
- 49:37originally. So I want to I want to just do
- 49:39it justice. But this was this celebrity
- 49:43asked his lawyer to present this Christmas message to the world
- 49:47while he. Joseph Fritzl, you familiar with
- 49:53the Basement Rapist? Can't say that I am.
- 50:00Yes, you are. He locked his daughter in a
- 50:02basement. Oh, and then all of that stuff.
- 50:06Because he'd. Like that sweet tank?
- 50:07Of rape. I remember this.
- 50:11Out of context, yeah. So anyway, he has a Christmas
- 50:17message for all of us. OK, it's going to be hot, hot
- 50:21warming, I think. Yes, yeah.
- 50:26He wishes everyone out there, everyone out there.
- 50:29So everyone that's us and you, listeners, he wishes everyone
- 50:31out there a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, 2026.
- 50:35And he hopes, I'm reading this verbatim.
- 50:37And he hopes that by Christmas next year, 2026, he might
- 50:40perhaps also be free. So it was important that he got
- 50:45that message out there. Yeah.
- 50:50I don't think he's. Ever going to be public appeal
- 50:53for like, clemency? What the fuck?
- 50:55I know, right? What's he trying to do?
- 50:57Oh, he said Merry Christmas. Maybe we could let him out.
- 51:00We were wrong about him. Yeah, I mean, his daughter was
- 51:05locked up for 25 years. Like it has to be at least that
- 51:08long. I think we can all agree it has
- 51:10to be at least that long. Right.
- 51:12Yeah. Like you took away 25 years of
- 51:14her life, you lose 25 years of yours at the start at.
- 51:19The very fucking least. He's what, 90 I think it says
- 51:23here. Yeah, but I love this this if
- 51:25you're looking at this article from the US Sun.
- 51:27Now, I don't know US newspapers, but I, I think this might be a
- 51:32slightly low class publication because just because of the
- 51:38wording, they don't feel they need to be unbiased.
- 51:40Listen to this. Estrad Wagner, Fritzl's defence
- 51:44lawyer, posted a video holding a small Christmas ornament, saying
- 51:46it was given to her by the incestuous beast during a recent
- 51:50prison visit. Oh, actually, anyway, are we
- 51:54maybe reading it wrong? And when he's saying maybe he'll
- 51:56be out by next Christmas, he means he'll be dead.
- 52:00Oh, maybe. Maybe kick off the weed?
- 52:13We got a lot of cards. Coming up in the Master.
- 52:16Party, party. So I'm just going to, I'm just
- 52:18going to tease this right now, patreon.com/multiple Orgasm if
- 52:24you want to subscribe to the after party where we, I was
- 52:29about to say review celebrity deaths.
- 52:31I guess that is what we do like. This sort of what we do, yeah.
- 52:34Yeah, and Luke decides who, if any, deserve the coveted title
- 52:39of the week. Yeah, Originally it was just
- 52:44because Neil Armstrong died, so we made him right the week, I
- 52:48think. I think that's how it started.
- 52:50Yeah, it has evolved a lot since it first started.
- 52:52Yes, actually, I I I seem to recall coining the phrase Geek
- 52:57of the Week without any deaths originally.
- 53:00Because remember that guy who applied for a job at DreamWorks
- 53:04by editing footage of Steven Spielberg answering questions
- 53:09about the Holocaust and then cut in his own questions about
- 53:14working at DreamWorks and and sent that in as his Dream Works
- 53:20auditions? As his resume?
- 53:22Yeah. As his.
- 53:22CCV and not only did he not get a job, but Spielberg personally
- 53:26said that managed to never ever work at any company.
- 53:30I'm involved. He probably did get a job now,
- 53:35yeah, in the industry. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:39Just notoriety. Before we go to the after party,
- 53:43I want to ask. I know that you've obtained a
- 53:46game, Dan. I want to know, have you played
- 53:48the game yet? Oh, I have.
- 53:50I've been playing it for the last two days.
- 53:52Oh, you're probably further than me at this point.
- 53:54Oh, you've been you popped it on as well.
- 53:56I've got I've got the Silent Hill 2 remake.
- 53:59Oh yeah, I was very keen for this.
- 54:04No, I'm enjoying it. And like Blade Runner and
- 54:08perhaps Star Wars A New Hope. It's it's a fucking slow burn,
- 54:12but in a way that I'm so grateful for because no games
- 54:15these days allow so little to happen over so long a time.
- 54:19Period. Sure.
- 54:20You know what I mean? And it's not even any.
- 54:21Like, the world is dense, but there's nothing really even to
- 54:25explore. Like, I'm used to having to,
- 54:27like, go over to every box I see and see if it's interactive.
- 54:30Yeah. It's kind of pointless doing
- 54:31that. You find bits of paper or if you
- 54:33if you want around, but yeah. Yeah.
- 54:35So yeah, I haven't sort of added in anything that's flushed out.
- 54:39It's just the we've just made the graphics better and the
- 54:41controls better. Away you go.
- 54:43No, no, it. Controls are better.
- 54:45Yeah. And it is redone like I'm
- 54:49positive that it is. It's been so long since I played
- 54:54this that I actually, I can't remember what's from this game.
- 54:58And I've played the first game again since then.
- 55:04And actually I'd forgotten how similar the two games are to one
- 55:07another. Yeah.
- 55:09Yeah, I, when I started playing it, I was like, well, this is
- 55:13just how I remember the game. Yeah.
- 55:15And then I looked up videos of Silent Hill 2 on the PS2 and I
- 55:18was just like, oh God. I meant to do that too because
- 55:21for the same reason I just remember it always looking this
- 55:23good. Yeah, that's yeah.
- 55:25In my mind, that's just what. Because Silent Hill One was like
- 55:28original PlayStation game. It's about to say PlayStation
- 55:31One, but that's not. Correct.
- 55:33It's. I'm going to look that up now
- 55:34because I bet it looks worse than I'm thinking in my mind
- 55:37even. It probably doesn't like it.
- 55:38I'd like a comparison as well. As for most games.
- 55:43But that's why. Oh God.
- 55:47There's. Oh.
- 55:50Yeah, it looks atrocious. But games from the 80s and first
- 55:56half of the 90s are charming for their rudimentary yeah and feel.
- 56:05But games from the late 90s and early 2000s have amazing
- 56:09stories. But you there's just something
- 56:13about those fucking low Poly PlayStation One and to.
- 56:19Take for me, there's also the load screens.
- 56:21The load screens, you take all of that ever I mean.
- 56:24Yeah, like that one and two both look rough compared to.
- 56:29That's interesting because like, yeah, like.
- 56:32You hear that horn go off and you go, oh shit.
- 56:38Yeah, the the movie comes out soon.
- 56:43Oh yeah, we'll see how they do with that.
- 56:44I don't know. They're getting better with
- 56:46transferring stuff from game to TV or movie.
- 56:52Christopher. Gannigan I don't I don't
- 56:54understand how that. Yeah, that's odd, isn't it?
- 56:57How that went so wild the first time I'll be interested in CV.
- 57:03Yes, give him another go. Mean what?
- 57:05It can't be worse. Did you see?
- 57:08Todd Howard has said this week that Fallout 5 will continue on
- 57:14from the Fallout TV. Show.
- 57:16He didn't quite say that. But he's saying it's canonical.
- 57:22It's canonical, so there's stuff that you know, be before and
- 57:25after. So it's going to be it's in the
- 57:26same world. Right.
- 57:28Which is. But I'd always kind of thought
- 57:32this show was just kind of kind of pick and choose from what's
- 57:34been out there and could recontextualize or what.
- 57:37But but yeah, no. But evidently it's it's Canon.
- 57:41Yeah, right, Because I know New Vegas is in the new season.
- 57:46Yes, I've heard people aren't a big fan of the new season at the
- 57:52moment. Oh, really?
- 57:53Yeah, I thought people say it was good.
- 57:54I've only seen a couple of reviews and.
- 57:57What's that out fall out Season 2?
- 58:00Well, the only person I know who has seen it said it's.
- 58:04Episode 1's already out. Oh, is it?
- 58:06Yeah, Yeah. But of course, that's just to.
- 58:11Watch Stranger Things. First, people on the Internet.
- 58:14I guess Stranger things fucking release schedule is so annoying
- 58:19like. It's not annoying to me because
- 58:22I haven't even had time to watch all the ones that are out
- 58:24already. But no, but just the concept of
- 58:26it, right? So they put 4 episodes out.
- 58:29It's it's what, 2-3? And one on Christmas Eve, and
- 58:31one on me. And yeah, and then one on New
- 58:32Year's. Eve yeah, fucking.
- 58:34What is this come? On like.
- 58:36Just if you're gonna do that, just do week to week.
- 58:38Because people are fucking busy. Like what are you doing?
- 58:42Oh, I watch. What are you trying to do with
- 58:44that? It's weird.
- 58:45Yeah. Yeah, 'cause it doesn't even
- 58:47make sense in trying. To just extend people, how long?
- 58:50They're gonna get new subscribers for.
- 58:52It's not Yeah. It's not like you haven't made
- 58:54them. And you're gonna you finish.
- 58:55It on Christmas Eve, so you have to release it on Christmas
- 58:57morning, like people are busy at Christmas so.
- 59:01You're basically releasing it at the time of year when they're
- 59:03most least likely to have the time to binge it and then
- 59:06everyone's gonna just fucking spoil.
- 59:07It's just such a weird thing to do.
- 59:08I don't understand. Or you're suggesting people
- 59:10should abandoned their Christmas plans and watch your fucking
- 59:13shows 1 episode. It's a strange thing.
- 59:15It's a really weird thing to do. It is.
- 59:18Weird. I I've.
- 59:20Watched a few episodes of this YouTube channel.
- 59:22I can't remember the name so I can't shout it out.
- 59:23But a guy who analyzes 80s TV specifically sitcoms just
- 59:28generally TV. But he was saying that the the
- 59:32main reason TV is different now. I mean we we all know this is
- 59:34that TV used to be week to week and and now it's like 1 story
- 59:38for entire season. But he articulated it really
- 59:42well. He said that the reason for that
- 59:43is, is that the chances of you watching episode 1 of something
- 59:48was almost 0, right? Like chances are your friend
- 59:53told you about the last episode he watched and then you watch
- 59:57from the next one and onwards. There's no way to go back.
- 1:00:00Which is why everything you need to know about the show has to be
- 1:00:05the opening credits of the show. OK?
- 1:00:09Yeah, that does make sense because.
- 1:00:11Yeah, there's no just take for granted.
- 1:00:13Whatever. You could just go watch, OK?
- 1:00:16Yeah, I'll go watch episode 1. Yeah, like.
- 1:00:19No, no, you'll watch what's on. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:23Which I guess is what. And they played them all out of
- 1:00:25order and. Whatever.
- 1:00:26Well, and they get which is indicated, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:28They would just play random episodes.
- 1:00:29Yeah, sometimes, which I think is why they got confused,
- 1:00:32whoever it was. That used to program television
- 1:00:35in the 90s when things did start to transition, like things like
- 1:00:39The X-Files, where they would play them sometimes out of
- 1:00:41order, and it was like, no, you're fucking up the mythology
- 1:00:44here, Firefly. Firefly suffered from that.
- 1:00:47Too. The worst?
- 1:00:49Offender for me. Was that great show American
- 1:00:52Gothic, if you recall that one, that's.
- 1:00:54Oh, that's right. Yeah.
- 1:00:55It was a confusing. Mess when they played that so
- 1:00:57out of order it it just literally made no.
- 1:00:59Sense because it was very sequential.
- 1:01:01I know with Firefly they thought that the first.
- 1:01:04Episode of first two episodes were a bit too dark, so that's
- 1:01:07that's why they started with three because it was just one of
- 1:01:10the funny on Yeah, just like 1. Off yeah, instead of playing the
- 1:01:13first two, which explained the law.
- 1:01:16Of the world or anything starting the entire universe.
- 1:01:19Yeah, yeah. Now, I'll say this, that first
- 1:01:22episode, it's probably my least favorite episode of that entire
- 1:01:26series, but not because it's, but just because after that it
- 1:01:29really ramps up and gets good. But doesn't mean you should skip
- 1:01:33that. You should still start at the
- 1:01:34beginning. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:40Right, so there's one more thing.
- 1:01:41We can probably squeeze in before we.
- 1:01:42Finish and I want to talk about this.
- 1:01:44So it's going to be a remake of Starship Troopers.
- 1:01:47Oh yeah. Well, I'll stop you there.
- 1:01:50There's going to be another. Adaptation of the Starship
- 1:01:53Troopers book. Yeah, I was getting people
- 1:01:56saying that. This is going to be interesting
- 1:01:58because. In the book the Bugs, they.
- 1:02:03Actually have their own. Spaceships and stuff.
- 1:02:04They're not just bugs on the planet.
- 1:02:07And yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm interested to.
- 1:02:11See if he goes down. That path.
- 1:02:15Yeah, yes. Interesting.
- 1:02:17Because it's Neil Blomkamp. Neil Blomkamp, District 9 and
- 1:02:20other things. But District 9 is very good at
- 1:02:24presenting both sides of an alien conflict, which is also
- 1:02:30the point of Starship Troopers. Yes.
- 1:02:34Is Robert Heinlein the book, right?
- 1:02:37Yeah. Yep.
- 1:02:38Yeah. And then?
- 1:02:43Yeah, the book is good. It's it is very different.
- 1:02:46To the movie because yeah, they've in the book, they're in
- 1:02:48the later movies, they got the power armor and stuff, but they
- 1:02:51have that the whole time in the yeah, in the book they didn't do
- 1:02:54like the the Hovens book, they didn't have any of that stuff.
- 1:02:59The Hovens movie you want to talk about?
- 1:03:01Yeah, but the later movies are. Not good, no.
- 1:03:07Some of them are hard. I don't even.
- 1:03:08Remember, honestly, two was terrible.
- 1:03:12I think wasn't 3. Good.
- 1:03:14I think 3 was better. Because I brought back down
- 1:03:16what's his face? Because I.
- 1:03:17Think I remember 2 being. Unwatchable.
- 1:03:20I brought back Rico. They actually I remember
- 1:03:23watching. The doc, the commentary.
- 1:03:25For Starship troops too. And I went like, we didn't
- 1:03:28really have the budget to do it, but we decided to make it
- 1:03:30anyway. And it's sort of like, why don't
- 1:03:32you just stop? Well, didn't they?
- 1:03:35Didn't the 4th 1A cartoon? For that exact reason I went to
- 1:03:39a screening of that. It was quite good actually.
- 1:03:43OK, there's actually a few different cartoon the.
- 1:03:46Animated one. Is the best or yeah that?
- 1:03:49They are the best of the sequels.
- 1:03:52It's been quite good, yes, Yeah, but.
- 1:03:55Nothing beats the original. I was like top off as saying
- 1:03:57the. Read Journal District 9 was
- 1:04:00great. Great.
- 1:04:01Yeah. What's the one with Matt Damon?
- 1:04:04Elysium. Elysium.
- 1:04:05That was all right. It was just.
- 1:04:07OK, Yeah. It wasn't mine.
- 1:04:08It wasn't as good. It was Chappie.
- 1:04:11I really liked Chappie. I didn't.
- 1:04:13Know Chappie, not everyone. Does Matt, have we talked about
- 1:04:15this? Have you seen?
- 1:04:17The documentary about D'antwood made by directed by the daughter
- 1:04:26of D'antwood. Oh no, Ninja and.
- 1:04:30Yolani's daughter. Made a documentary about what it
- 1:04:34was like having parents that are D'antwood.
- 1:04:39Yeah, it's very strange. I can imagine, right?
- 1:04:42What the fuck are they? Doing right now.
- 1:04:44Actually, I can sit in a big pile of money.
- 1:04:48Yeah, I haven't heard from. D'antwood since.
- 1:04:51Chappie Yeah, well, I think it started to come out that they.
- 1:04:54Were pretty racist and stuff. I know there was a one of.
- 1:05:00The kids that they adopted went on a YouTube thing and did a big
- 1:05:07interview about his experience and it wasn't good.
- 1:05:10So yeah, I think they're just. Very strange.
- 1:05:14People like, I mean, clearly so I don't know, I think in South
- 1:05:20Africa. The poor whites are even lower
- 1:05:27in the food chain than. The poor blacks do you know
- 1:05:29what? I mean, like, I think there's
- 1:05:30there's this real old fashioned hierarchy and if you somehow
- 1:05:36became a millionaire famous jet setting Rockstar from that
- 1:05:42subgroup, that must be a bizarre experience.
- 1:05:49You know what? Watch this.
- 1:05:53Oh yeah, I'll find the documentary that sounds.
- 1:05:54Interesting. I just.
- 1:05:55I mean, I find them interesting. They're very I like them in Mate
- 1:06:01when they're they're not the best actors, but I liked.
- 1:06:03Them in it, Yeah. There was one album that came
- 1:06:06out. With that, I thought was just
- 1:06:07fucking. Great.
- 1:06:08You know, like I was just like, yeah, no, they got some good
- 1:06:11stuff, yeah. Yeah, it's just that the yeah,
- 1:06:14there's. A lot of controversy around.
- 1:06:17Them and they're yes, especially with the yeah, adopting the.
- 1:06:21Kids with. Disabilities and stuff like
- 1:06:23that. It's all a bit exploitative
- 1:06:29because they've done a lot of that I.
- 1:06:34I went to, yeah, I can say it. I went in Indonesia.
- 1:06:44In Sumatra, there's. As this factory where we were
- 1:06:49filming and they all the employees are disabled.
- 1:06:53And I mean really like little little 1 little hand coming out
- 1:06:56of the chest like that kind of disabled.
- 1:06:58Oh, wow, no legs, just the little hand.
- 1:07:01I can make it all these things and interviewing the person who
- 1:07:04owns the factory and saying, yeah, we give these people a
- 1:07:06chance because no one else would, you know?
- 1:07:09And it's like, yeah, that might be so.
- 1:07:13But also from my point of view, this does not look good.
- 1:07:18Like the optics of this? How much are you paying them?
- 1:07:22Yeah. Yeah, I.
- 1:07:24Went to a place like that in. Vietnam and it's sort.
- 1:07:27Of the same like they're taking sort of victims of Asian orange
- 1:07:30and sort of teaching them to sort of they're making sort of
- 1:07:35artwork and stuff. And why they explained it is
- 1:07:38they get they get paid while they're there, but they also get
- 1:07:4130% of anything that's purchased while they're trying to invest
- 1:07:45into these people weren't partners.
- 1:07:48Yeah, just employees, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:07:54And look, I'm sure they were very grateful that oh.
- 1:07:57Well, yeah, you know, you know. If you know.
- 1:08:01I'm sure fucking this is not like if you're going to be this,
- 1:08:06Indonesia is the last place you want to be.
- 1:08:09Yeah, but still I was. I'm able to get work since Total
- 1:08:12Recall came out. That's.
- 1:08:14Right with my third titty. We will go to the after party,
- 1:08:21but we did promise some Star Wars news so I'll just quickly
- 1:08:25put this in here before we move over.
- 1:08:28Lucasfilm were being sued by producers who claimed that they
- 1:08:33and they alone had the rights to reproduce Peter Cushing after
- 1:08:36his death. And therefore Lucas that's we're
- 1:08:40in breach of of of that copyright.
- 1:08:42I think we can resurrect him. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:47And I think we reported on this one it when it was first came up
- 1:08:51and but they have they have it's been dismissed.
- 1:08:55So, Lucas. Cannot be I actually.
- 1:08:57Got a shock that they just didn't settle.
- 1:09:01Yeah, I guess they were just standing on.
- 1:09:03Principle on this because maybe they.
- 1:09:04Settled. They couldn't do it again in the
- 1:09:06future and they didn't want to, you know, there could have been
- 1:09:08some kind of. Yeah, because they were.
- 1:09:12Only saying like we lost £250,000, they probably would
- 1:09:16have spent a lot more on Boys on time on this.
- 1:09:19So yeah. But yeah, it does set a
- 1:09:22precedent. That then other people.
- 1:09:24Can come and go. Hey, we want to see you for it
- 1:09:27now. Yeah.
- 1:09:29I think his family weren't happy about it either.
- 1:09:31But he's. He sold his likeness, didn't he?
- 1:09:34Yeah, I believe so. Yeah.
- 1:09:35Yeah, like gentle drones. Sold his voice.
- 1:09:39Yeah, that's a weird one. Yeah.
- 1:09:42Yeah, but you know, on 11 labs which?
- 1:09:44Is. What I Dick around with
- 1:09:46sometimes just making Orson Welles say that he's my real dad
- 1:09:49and stuff like that. You can now license celebrities,
- 1:09:54shooters and Kane. OK, Yeah.
- 1:09:57You can license celebrity voices.
- 1:09:58And I believe. James L Jones is one of them.
- 1:10:01Really. Yep.
- 1:10:02OK, we could. So James L.
- 1:10:04Jones could redo the intro. To this podcast, yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:07absolutely can. And not him, but officially him.
- 1:10:14Yeah. Like, it's not an impersonator.
- 1:10:17It's the most official voice. Him we're ever going to get to
- 1:10:19voice. It's possible.
- 1:10:20Yeah. Anything to do?
- 1:10:21Anything for any of us. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:24Yeah, but also I'm also. Happy that he set.
- 1:10:26That precedent for book I'll sell my stuff for.
- 1:10:30People are just going to be crazy when people die and just
- 1:10:33start making stuff. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 1:10:37That's a good point. It's not that.
- 1:10:38AI related stuff lately like with.
- 1:10:41Some game companies, but we don't need to talk about that
- 1:10:43right now. We could.
- 1:10:44Next week, I think we'll go to the irrelevant party, talk about
- 1:10:47who's dead, I think. Good after party.
