- 2:25SPEAKER_03: Aaron, I'm super excited you're here.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Thomas.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Aaron.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Appreciate the opportunity to join you all today.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: So, Brad, you're an executive director at Senior Private Client Advisor at Texas Capital Private Bank with over 20 years of helping high net worth individuals, families, and business owners achieve their legacy.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: What does raising a standard mean to you in the wealth management and legacy building?
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and in the business that I'm in, it's about elevating expectations for our clients.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: You know, they're going to come in expecting one thing, and I and I want to elevate that for them and give them an experience that not only will they remember, but hopefully they're going to tell family and friends about.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: But but that's really it is having them come in.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Every client comes in with one level of expectations, and I want to elevate that and be able to exceed what their expectations are when they walk in the door.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: And what do you think is the biggest lie that you feel the culture of the financial industry has sold people about wealth building, financial planning, and what it really takes to create lasting legacy?
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think the biggest thing is you need to plan and you need to you need to put a plan in place and you need to plan for the future.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: And so much of you know society today is I want it now.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Give it to me now.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: You know, I make a dollar, I'm gonna spend a dollar.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: And and that's not what's gonna let you be successful long term.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: It it may, you know, you you may feel good in the moment, but long term, that's not how you're gonna achieve financial success and financial freedom.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: You need to have a long-term plan in place to help you do that.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: And understand delayed gratification, right?
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: And I think you know, that's that's something that is not only common just in in this industry, but I think it's common in society today is is everybody wants it now.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: And, you know, that, like I said, feels good in the moment, but but over time you're gonna be disappointed.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: You coordinate comprehensive wealth management solutions with clients, entire teams, CPAs, estate planning, attorneys, and other professionals.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: How did your journey from Baylor University and Intel to wealth management shape your understanding of what people really need for long-term success?
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: You know, it's, I mean, I've got an interesting career path where I started off in corporate finance at Intel out of graduate school.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Then I moved into college athletics at Baylor, and then I moved into this role.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: And I think the the one thing that really I feel like has been a common denominator throughout a number of those careers is it's the relationships that you build with people.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: In in the corporate finance world, I was building relationships with colleagues, you know, to help them and help grow that business at Intel and the groups that I was a part of.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: And then when I moved to Baylor, you know, selling advertising at Baylor was about the relationships that we were able to build with both our national advertisers and the local individuals who advertised at Baylor.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: And that has extended now into my 20-plus year career in wealth management.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Is is it is all about the relationships that you're able to build with people.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: And the more that you get to know them, the more you get to learn their story, their individual story, their business story, their family story.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: And by doing that over time, it just enables me to become much better at my job to help them plan for the future because I get to learn what is important to them and what is important to their family.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: And, you know, that's that's it.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: It's it's about developing those long-term relationships.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: You know, I hate to say this, but a lot of, you know, that in certain ways, you know, money management has become more and more commoditized when when you've got you know just immediate access to information and you have, you know, things that are investment vehicles that are available to people that that are really, you know, it's it's hard to sometimes beat the the indexes, so to speak.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: But what's gonna differentiate me from others out there and and others in this business is those relationships that you can build with your clients over time.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: No doubt.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: No doubt.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: Well said.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: On that one, I'm gonna turn it over to Aaron with segment two, identity and legacy.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Aaron, take it away.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Brad.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, thanks, Thomas.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: So, Brad, for our audience, I know Thomas has done a beautiful job of telling us who you are and all your accolades, but I want our audience to get to know you on a more personal level.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: So, who is Brad?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: If you were to, they were just gonna come up and meet you.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Who is Brad?
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: I think, you know, there's three three words that I hope define me.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: One is a Christian, secondly is a husband, and and third is a father.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: And to me, those are the most important characteristics that I have, and and I think that defines who who I am.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: You know, I am looking, looking out for for my clients, I you know, looking out for my family, trying to put them first in everything that I do.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: And so hopefully when somebody meets me, gets a chance to know me over time, those are the attributes that that come through to them.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I think that's so important.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: So, with that, one of your, I think, number one jobs probably in this sector of wealth management is helping your clients achieve their legacy.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So, what does legacy beyond just the financial wealth management mean to you, both personally and with the work that you do with your clients?
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for for me personally, it's it is truly about my family.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: You know, there's there's a saying out there that you're you're three generations removed from being forgotten.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: And and if you think about that, you know, we've got, you know, I look at myself, my parents are are still are still around.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm lucky that they're still around.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: And so I have a relationship with them.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: My grandparents, I have memories of them in and doing things with them, holidays with them, trips with them.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: My great-grandparents, which is that third generation removed, I I never met them.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: They had passed away before I was born.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: So to think about that and think, you know, what, you know, who who knows you?
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: You look three generations from today, and and that generation is probably going to have very little to no knowledge of you.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: So, you know, that that is important to me.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: When I look at my my clients, it's it's different for for everybody.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: For some people, for a business owner, you know, it's they want to build a business that is gonna last multiple generations.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: They want that to be their legacy.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: And I have clients who it's the fourth generation is now involved with the business.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: And that's a great legacy that that initial generation left for them.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: For for other clients, it it is their family.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: You know, it's it's knowing that they've left something behind, whether it be, and it and it's not, I think, you know, people will say, oh, well, it's it's a financial legacy.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: I don't believe that's the case.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: It's it's so much more than just a financial legacy that they're leaving behind.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: And other clients, it it may be a charitable organization that they grow attached to and they want to create a mechanism that is going to fund that charitable endeavor for years to come after after they're deceased.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: So I think those are probably the three biggest things that I see with my clients that are the legacies that they want to leave behind.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Wow, I love that.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: That really made me start thinking as you were talking, not to like not be present.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: But I was like, yeah, like you're kind of that three generations removed.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And you know, I think of like my grandparents, like my kids wouldn't know my grandparents the way that I know my grandparents, you know, and how do you tell those stories and keep their legacy alive?
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Because that's so important, and I think a lost art that we have.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: So I love I love that so much.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: So what separates clients?
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: This is kind of where you're giving us our secret sauce.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: What separates clients that you work with who successfully build and transfer lasting wealth to those that struggle with that?
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: And is there a missing piece or something that's kind of the common thread that you see throughout?
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: You know, I think the common thread is one, those that are successful have have put a plan in place.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: And so that plan could be a financial plan for them about how they want to manage their assets going forward.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: In the business, they've they've been successful in the business because they put a plan in place for their business and they have been able to execute that plan, and that has created opportunities, you know, going forward for for them and and for their families.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: So I really feel like you know, that is the most important thing.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: When when we meet, when I get a chance to meet a new client, one of the first conversations I want to have with them is do they have a plan in place?
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Have they thought through all of these different aspects of life that are come at them?
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: And and it, you know, in different stages of life, you have different needs that you need to address.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: And so the plan is going to change and it's gonna adjust over time.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: But to help them create that, help them, you know, grow, make the adjustments when they need to make the adjustments, but then at the end of, you know, at the end when it's time to to sell a business, when it's time to, you know, enjoy the earnings that they've had, the investments that they've had, and the plan that's put in place, you know, that's that's that's the that's when you're able to sit back and say, yes, you know, we we achieved as a client and as me as their advisor, we achieved what they wanted to achieve.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: And and hopefully then there's an opportunity to do even more than they thought they were going to do.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: And that can be, you know, traveling, that can be supporting a charity, that can be supporting family, supporting their community, you know, all of those different aspects.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: But I think, you know, what's what's fun for me about this is that every client is different, and every client has a different story.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: And so when I get a chance to to learn their story and and have an opportunity to help them achieve the long-term goals that they have that they want to achieve, that's that's the joy that I get out of out of this, out of out of this role that I have.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I think in the other word, I is they probably say disciplined to their plan.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: So yes, they have a plan and then execute the plan.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, because you're right.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: Just because you have a plan doesn't mean you're going to be successful with the plan.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: So it's having that discipline to to follow that plan.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: And I think, you know, what whatever area it's in, it's having somebody who can who can kind of help you guide you through that too.
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: I think for, you know, you look at a business, and as a business, most businesses, you know, they they either have a formal or an informal board of directors, board of advisors, but people they can lean on to to help kind of help keep those guard, help, keep them between the guardrails.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: And for us, that's that's our role as their advisor to to help you know provide that discipline.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: And and when things start moving, you know, one way or the other, to be able to come in and review and say, okay, let's let's get back in line here because we we have this ultimate goal that we have created, and and that's what you need to help you achieve that is you need to put the plan in place, have the discipline, and then have somebody there who's gonna support you through the process to stay on track.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sometimes we need our coach, like somebody that's kind of a coach, a guide to make us accountable and kind of GPS us.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Like we gotta recal recalculating here to get back on the road.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So we're not like off doing our own thing.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: So with that, and I know we've had you on other shows with us.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: What is one truth you wish?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: I think especially this younger generation with athletes, NIL, that you wish they understood that maybe they're not getting about wealth management, legacy building that most people aren't telling them.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: You know, I think you know, the first thing we kind of talked about it is is you can't, you know, you can't spend every dollar that you make.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: As and I feel like with these, you know, kids who are getting this NIL money, if you are, I mean, I look back when I was 18 years old.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: If if at 18 years old I got even, you know, let's say$100,000, which which today is is not that big of an NIL deal.
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: But if I had that money, what would I have done with that?
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: And would I have had somebody around me who could help guide me and just just education, I think, is such a key component of this is to is to be properly educated and have somebody who's gonna help walk you through.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, another thing that I feel like is that you know, you you you can't take it with you.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: I feel like so much of this is, hey, let's, you know, I want to get the biggest this and the biggest that, the best car, all of these different items.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: And and while yes, that's that's nice to be able to do, but you know, at the end of the day, you know, you still, you know, you you still you know need to have need to have that plan.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: You need to be prepared for what's gonna come next and and not you know, not not just waste it all at one point.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love that.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's so important.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: And I think think about the end goal in mind, like where what's absolutely the big picture plan you want for your life, and how does this fit into your versus okay, I got this money now to your point, let me spend it, or just think about short-term things versus like much, much bigger future.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and I think, you know, and it's not just it's not just money either.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: You know, I feel like when we, you know, going back to the NIL discussion, I think we've got a lot of these athletes that we're seeing more and more of it who are four schools in four years, or if if they allow, you know, five years, five schools in five years.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: And to me, that's something that we're that they're focusing on the short term instead of looking at the long term and maybe you know what what are the benefits that could come if I you know even stayed somewhere for for for two years or three years and then you know only went to two different schools, you know, something like that.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: It's just that I feel like so many people have that short-term mindset, yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: And to and to not have that short-term mindset, but to have have somebody around you once again who can be there and help you look more than just you know what's directly in front of you.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: I think that's so important.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: So with that, Thomas, I'm gonna kick it back over to you.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: Thanks, Aaron.
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: Brad, we're gonna get into wealth management.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: And you worked at Wells Fargo, BMO Harris Bank, America Bank, and now Texas Capital Private Bank.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: How has the wealth management industry evolved?
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: And what do you see as the biggest challenge and opportunities for families building wealth today?
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that the biggest change that I've seen from when I started over 20 years ago to today is just the amount of information that is is available to everyone.
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: I look back to you know when I started and then even you know prior to that, that information was was available to to certain people.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: And there were there was information that was not as publicly available information.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: And so you could see you know, people who had access to that information could potentially you know make some investments and and have an opportunity to do to do better because of the information that they had.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: Today, so much information is available in real time.
- 20:07SPEAKER_02: Markets adjust immediately to information.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: There's there is not that much of a lag time whatsoever.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, what what we're seeing with a lot of clients is some of that from an investment standpoint, that foundation that you're putting down in place, you know, you're you're looking for solutions that are lower cost solutions and tax advantage solutions that you know may may be you may be doing the same thing that everybody else is doing, but that that's a great base for you to have.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, you're just not seeing as much in our industry of what I would call kind of the stock pickers that you would have had 20, 30, 40 years ago because certain individuals had access to information that other people didn't.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: And and that's just not here in this industry nearly as much as it used to be.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: The other thing is from a from a technology standpoint, the the tools that we have available to help clients plan, help clients put together investment portfolios, help clients manage their portfolios in a tax efficient manner are are growing on a daily basis.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: And so those are those give us ways to help clients.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: You know, at the end of the day, what I tell clients is we want to help you, you know, it's yes, you want to earn as much as you can, but at the end of the day, you really want to keep as much as you can because there are some strategies that can help you earn, but then there's other costs, whether it be taxes or transactions.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Costs, other things that at the end of the day, you're going to end up lower than maybe some other solutions that don't have those costs in it.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: So it's really, you know, what you get to keep at the end of the day.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: And I think technology is really providing us more and more ways to help our clients do that.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: And if you can sit down with the younger version of yourself, this is kind of the if you knew then what you know now.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: If you can sit down with a younger version of yourself, just starting in the wealth management, what advice would you give about building a practice that truly serves clients' long-term legacy goals?
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: You know, I think you've just got to take the time to educate yourself.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: You've got to take the time to learn, you know, it's not, yes, it's it's the there's the business piece of it, but the people who are successful have the ability to develop relationships on a personal level.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: And I think, you know, that's one thing that you know, you get into this business, and especially, you know, when you're in college and you're getting trained into different ways to manage clients' assets and different ways to invest.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: And you know, a lot of the colleges now have have the investment club, which is to, hey, let's analyze a stock and figure out, you know, which stock is the best, best stock and and which one's going to provide the best return.
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: Those those things are important, but in in the type of role that I have, which is, you know, now having clients, building up a client base, it's it's about managing those relationships and being able to learn about your clients and sit back and listen to them.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Because if you take the time to listen, ask them the right questions, they're gonna tell you everything that you need to know to help them achieve their goals.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: And it's just being able to be be quiet in the conversation, be quiet in the moment, and let them talk.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: And I feel like you know, early on in my career, I wanted you want your clients to know how smart you are.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: And so I I talked more and listened less.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: And the further I get in my career, that's now reversed, where I'm gonna listen more and talk less because they they will tell me everything I need to know.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: And and it makes my part of the conversation much easier because I've had that chance to understand where they are today, where they want to go.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: So that's that's probably the biggest thing is just talking less and listening more, would be the recommendation I would give to a younger me.
- 24:57SPEAKER_03: No doubt.
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: I mean, across all fields, right?
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: What about young professionals and business owners who are starting to build wealth but may not understand the importance of comprehensive planning?
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: What do they need to know about setting the foundation for lasting success?
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: I think a lot of business owners, when they're getting started, and even you know, as they're building the business, I mean, 10 years in, 20 years in, their focus is fully on the business.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: And they want to grow as fast as they can.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: And a lot of that growth is going to be invest, you know, investing back in the business, investing back in the business.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: And and I've seen so many business owners who've been successful doing that.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: The business grows, and at some point in time there is a liquidity event.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: But I believe that there are other ways to, you know, to provide for, you know, to help yourself out over time.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: A lot of times we'll see clients who have an opportunity to make an investment in something outside of their company, but they don't have the liquidity because they have taken all of their liquidity and invested it back in the business.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: And they don't have a way to get that liquidity back out of the business to take advantage of some outside opportunity.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: So by helping them understand the benefits that come from taking some of that money out and setting it aside in an investment account, in a bank account, you know, even some external real estate, some other things that you can do.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: And then you're able to utilize that for liquidity when when these great opportunities come up that that you do have to move very quickly on.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: And so that's that's a lot of those conversations is just helping them see that you know there there is a benefit because once again, they're looking at, I want to grow my business, and that's great.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: But if if we can help them see the benefit of setting something aside so that you do have something there when another opportunity presents itself and you've got to act quickly.
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: Just being liquid and have a balance.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're gonna turn it over to Aaron, which is the next segment, segment five, which is a rapid fire round.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: Aaron, it's all yours.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay, get ready, Brad.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: This is the fun, this is the fun part, not with the rest.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: No, okay.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: So what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna start a sentence and you're just gonna finish it for me, okay?
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, discipline equals daily to me.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: Leadership equals servant, legacy equals family, faith equals.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: You know, putting putting God first in everything that I do.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: What is one thing that you would never compromise on?
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: My relationship with my family.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: And if you could put a billboard up for the next generation of athletes, young entrepreneurs, business owners, what would that message be?
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: I would say that from my experience, what I would want them to know is that God is in control.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: And as much as we think we know what's best, and you know, it's it's not that everything is going to be perfect.
- 28:47SPEAKER_02: There are going to be challenges, there are going to be struggles.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: But, you know, I and and I I struggle with this many times, you know, sometimes multiple times in the day, but just stepping back to say, you know, God is in control, there's a plan.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: And if you have that faith and that belief, you know, it just makes the days much better.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: That was so good.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Amen to that one.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: And I hear yeah, sometimes I struggle.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, let yes, yes.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying that I'm I'm clearly not perfect in that myself, but you know, when I when I do struggle, it's like deep breath.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: And, you know, and I think that just that message, I mean, I am so happy to see more and more of these, you know, universities and these coaches that that are embracing that part of their life.
- 29:50SPEAKER_02: I feel like so many of them, it has been there, and they were afraid to express it.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: And so just just to see them comfortable, see the athletes and and specifically, you know, the athletes, it's it's so easy for an athlete to get up there and after they won the game, you know, all glory to God.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: And yes, that's important, but to see more and more of them who have who have stepped up and in a loss and said, look, you've heard me in a win.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say the exact same thing in a loss.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: And I think that message is so important to get through to you know the the next generation that's coming up is that it's it's okay to to express that.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: And is just, you know, I I think it's something that that is important, and I'm glad that there are role models out there in every walk of life who are being open to express that now.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: That is so great.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, Thomas, I'm gonna let you take it from here.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, you're so right on that one, Brad.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: And before we wrap up, we'd like to turn over the floor to our guests and just is there something that we didn't touch on today that you feel that business owners, families, or anyone building wealth needs to hear about legacy planning and comprehensive wealth management.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: You know, I just think it's it's important to put a team around you who is gonna be there to support you.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: And it's it's important in the business side and it's important on the personal side.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: And if you can, if you can do that and have people that you truly trust and and have your best interests at heart, then you are going to succeed more than you're gonna fail because you're not relying on yourself.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: So many of us think we've got to do it all on our own.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: And and that's that's not accurate.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: If we can put a team around us, a support group around us to help us navigate the daily challenges of life, we're gonna be more successful.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: No doubt.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: So you were in the rapid fire and now you're in the hot seat.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: Art imitating life, Brad.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: What are your top three sports movies of all time?
- 32:09SPEAKER_02: Let's see.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: So number one for me is Hoosiers, and I say that because you know, my my parents grew up in Indiana.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: I got my NBA from Indiana.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: So, you know, there's there's a little bit of Bobby Knight and Gene Hackman.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: So that would be that would be number one.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: Gosh, number two, the next two sports movies.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: I'd say Rocky.
- 32:32SPEAKER_02: I love watching all of the Rockies, you know, the the underdog story is always fun to watch.
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, for for kind of just uh a fun movie and something that, hey, when it when it flips on, am I gonna sit there and watch it?
- 32:49SPEAKER_02: And it was just on last week, and I think you know, it's probably because it's early in the baseball season, but major league.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: You know, kind of major league and bull Durham, they they kind of, you know, there's they they it depends on what kind of mood you're in, but you know, they both are are great, just you know, Bull Durham tells some great stories, but but they're both just you know, I baseball's a kind of a child, my my first loved childhood from a sports standpoint.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: And so those movies also really appeal to me.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: You know, that's so similar.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: My number two is Rocky, my number three is Hoosier.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: So you and I are very much aligned, and everything else is pretty much an honorable mention, but my number one is miracle, and I never played a I I just I just love about bringing a bunch of misfits together to understand, kind of like finance, kind of like what Aaron and I are preaching, is you need a team.
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: You're not gonna win on your own.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: You need a team.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: You really do.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, and I think you know, you look at coaches, and I feel like you know, leaders in business.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: So many times you want to put together the team of all all-stars.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: And most of the time that doesn't succeed because different people have different strengths, and you need all of those different roles to be successful.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: So, yes, I I think you're right on that.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: That, you know, miracle, that team had had all-stars, and then it had people who had defined roles, and they were successful because people played their role and played it to perfection.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: You know, uh, I lived in Los Angeles for 25 years, so I was a Lakers fan, and they got swept.
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, I mean, you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't gel together coaching staff as well as players, you get swept, right?
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: And there's there's a lesson right there.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: Brand, where where can people connect with you and learn more about Texas Capital?

- 36:15SPEAKER_03: Talent fades, but truth endures.
- 36:17SPEAKER_03: Let's raise the bar, rebuild the culture, and become the standard.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: Brad, Aaron, thank you so much.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: Team, we'll see you next time.

- 36:26SPEAKER_02: Thanks, guys.
