Latest / Ruffling the Feathers: An NFL Podcast / Episode 8: Week One Is Complete! First Impressions: Effective or Did It Fail?!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of the Ruffling
- 0:05Speaker 1: the Feathers podcast. In today's episode, we have gotten through
- 0:09Speaker 1: the first week of the NFL season, and we are
- 0:12Speaker 1: talking about first impressions. It is a move that is
- 0:16Speaker 1: guaranteed to attack on the first turn of a battle.
- 0:19Speaker 1: But wait, this is the NFL we're talking about here.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Did these first impressions prove effective, or did you face
- 0:26Speaker 1: a forager rep and that move fails? My name is
- 0:30Speaker 1: Talon Master J, and I am joined once again by
- 0:32Speaker 1: my co-hosts, Brandon and Supernova. Gentlemen, we have made it
- 0:36Speaker 1: through the first week of the season. It is beautiful,
- 0:39Speaker 1: is it not?
- 0:41Speaker 2: Oh, it's fantastic. Also, that reverse is going to go
- 0:44Speaker 2: over so many people's heads.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It might go over a couple of people's heads, but
- 0:53Speaker 1: I think we'll be fine. But Nova, what's going on
- 0:58Speaker 1: with you today, man?
- 1:00Speaker 3: Well, nothing much in particular. You know, I got a
- 1:03Speaker 3: lot of high school coverage still going through, you know,
- 1:05Speaker 3: getting set again for another new week. We're slowly approaching
- 1:09Speaker 3: league play where I'm at. And also the NFL season
- 1:14Speaker 3: started off fantastic for me. And you're all going to
- 1:16Speaker 3: find out why in this episode. But otherwise, I have
- 1:20Speaker 3: some shout outs to make, of course, because, you know,
- 1:22Speaker 3: we have some playful banters as well. Back of Riverside TV.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I got a shout out again. to my man, Jeff Gorham,
- 1:28Speaker 3: because he's the one who's being really playful with me.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I don't know whether or not to be serious about
- 1:33Speaker 3: yourself or whether you want to hear my takes about
- 1:38Speaker 3: the Valley Conference, but it's always nice being with you, Jeff.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, shout-outs to your co-host there.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But honestly, guys, I got a little bit of beef
- 1:49Speaker 1: that I want to talk about today. I got a
- 1:51Speaker 1: little bit of beef with something. You ever have beef before?
- 1:56Speaker 3: What kind?
- 1:56Speaker 2: It's usually cooked pretty well done.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I got beef because, once again, we had
- 2:05Speaker 1: a spectrum problem. It hasn't happened since, like, the second episode,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but I got some beef with spectrum again because I
- 2:15Speaker 1: noticed this here at the house that, you know, naturally
- 2:20Speaker 1: you get it. I was still, still with the fam
- 2:22Speaker 1: and everything, you know, make sure the family's okay. The
- 2:25Speaker 1: parents are getting older. So you got to keep with
- 2:27Speaker 1: the parents. You don't know how much longer you're going
- 2:29Speaker 1: to have them and whatever. But I noticed on their computer,
- 2:33Speaker 1: I was like, Hey, you know, the spectrum bill is
- 2:37Speaker 1: saying this, right. And you know, we, we brushed it
- 2:40Speaker 1: off or whatever, because my dad still believes in writing
- 2:43Speaker 1: paper checks. Brandon, I think I speak for both of
- 2:46Speaker 1: those when I say paper checks are still being written. Oh, God.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I can't even tell you the last time I picked
- 2:52Speaker 2: up a checkbook.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Well, fast forward to yesterday. And apparently my mom was
- 2:59Speaker 1: watching the local morning news and whatever. And then the
- 3:02Speaker 1: channel comes up and says, channel unavailable. You need to
- 3:05Speaker 1: contact Spectrum. And they, naturally, they call Spectrum. And Spectrum says, oh, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 1: you didn't pay your bill. And come to find out
- 3:17Speaker 1: that Spectrum credited the bill that my parents paid for
- 3:22Speaker 1: the Spectrum bill to my dead grandmother's house that we're
- 3:26Speaker 1: still trying to sell.
- 3:30Speaker 2: How do you even do that?
- 3:33Speaker 1: People are idiots in the world. And I thought most
- 3:36Speaker 1: of them just lived in Arizona.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Hold on. We can't really be saying that about them
- 3:41Speaker 3: after what happened. We can't really be saying that. We're
- 3:44Speaker 3: not there yet.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, no, we're not there yet. But then fast forward
- 3:48Speaker 1: to today as we're talking and getting ready for the
- 3:51Speaker 1: show and we're starting to get ready for the recording
- 3:54Speaker 1: and my internet's completely down. Every piece of internet is
- 3:58Speaker 1: down because apparently they still hadn't credited the account. They
- 4:03Speaker 1: still didn't change their mistake. So they had to call
- 4:08Speaker 1: Spectrum again. And they had to rectify the mistake. And
- 4:13Speaker 1: by 2.30, miraculously, the mistake was fixed. But again, Spectrum,
- 4:19Speaker 1: get your shit together. Get your act together. It's already
- 4:23Speaker 1: bad enough that my grandmother's house, we can't even connect
- 4:26Speaker 1: the main phone line for some stupid reason, which we
- 4:29Speaker 1: can't figure out. But yeah, Spectrum is great.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Ain't it? Oh, that's great. Yeah. My spectrum has been
- 4:36Speaker 2: acting up for pretty much the last four or five
- 4:38Speaker 2: days now. So it'd be kind of great if he could,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know, stop that.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It'd be great if they, if they knew what, what
- 4:46Speaker 1: they were doing. But of course, again, like, like I said,
- 4:51Speaker 1: People are idiots out there when it comes to the
- 4:55Speaker 1: jobs and whatnot and making sure stuff is correct. But
- 4:59Speaker 1: that's why the three of us are here. That's why
- 5:02Speaker 1: we are the good people. We're the honest people out there.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And we need to talk about some football, guys. Don't
- 5:10Speaker 1: you think? I think it's time. I think that was
- 5:12Speaker 1: a good opening segue on how Spectrum is bad.
- 5:16Speaker 4: But now we talk about the good, which was football.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but unfortunately, we may not start out with the
- 5:21Speaker 3: good because, well, we had to kick off week one
- 5:23Speaker 3: with the obvious thing, which is the kickoff game. New
- 5:26Speaker 3: England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks. And we all know Brandon has
- 5:30Speaker 3: a lot to talk about it since he does root
- 5:32Speaker 3: for the Patriots. So take it away.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Bye.
- 5:34Speaker 1: But before he does, Nova, I just got to ask
- 5:38Speaker 1: you guys, what day did that game get played on again?
- 5:42Speaker 3: It is Wednesday, my dudes.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Oh, wait a minute.
- 5:48Speaker 4: I got to.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Nova, Nova, Nova, Nova, Nova, Nova. What day is Animal Kickoff, Nova?
- 5:53Speaker 1: What day is Animal Kickoff? What's another day?
- 5:56Speaker 3: It is Wednesday, my dudes. Oh, come on.
- 5:59Speaker 1: What's another name for Wednesday?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Hump Day.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I thought you were doing the meme, man.
- 6:05Speaker 1: No, I was doing the hump day thing.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Hump day?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Because of the cam. Look, I mean, Brandon.
- 6:12Speaker 3: No, I get what you're saying. I thought you were
- 6:13Speaker 3: going to go along with the it is Wednesday meme.
- 6:15Speaker 1: No, no. But Brandon, before you start your stuff, I
- 6:20Speaker 1: just want to ask you. Because, again, that was such
- 6:23Speaker 1: a great commercial when we were growing up. The hump
- 6:25Speaker 1: day commercial.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It is good.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Don't worry.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Well, I mean, the original was good. This one was
- 6:32Speaker 1: kind of good because they incorporated football as well in it.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And just added Mike Tomlin. And Cam was like, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And he's like, don't.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Or, nope.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Like, Mike Tomlin was having none of it. But now
- 6:49Speaker 1: you can stoop.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Where the fuck do I start, first of all? So,
- 6:58Speaker 2: Patriots started out great, in my opinion. We played a
- 7:05Speaker 2: decent amount of smash-mouth football in the first half. Defense
- 7:09Speaker 2: held up very strongly, even though, for whatever reason, we
- 7:13Speaker 2: literally played nickel defense the entire first half. Which I
- 7:19Speaker 2: understand why, because Seattle likes going in their jumbo packages
- 7:24Speaker 2: with double, triple tight ends, you know, pushing the ball
- 7:27Speaker 2: through or whatnot. And we matched up very well with
- 7:30Speaker 2: them whenever they went with these jumbo sets. All right, cool.
- 7:34Speaker 2: No big deal. Going to halftime up 10-0.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I literally, for those listening, I literally messaged in our
- 7:41Speaker 2: Discord chat. and said, hey, guys, I'm going to go
- 7:45Speaker 2: die now. I'm going to wake up in the morning
- 7:47Speaker 2: to find out that we have found some way to
- 7:48Speaker 2: lose this game. Wake up the next morning, we've lost
- 7:52Speaker 2: 13 to 10. Oh, man. How did I call it?
- 7:56Speaker 2: How did I manage to call it? Turn around, look,
- 7:58Speaker 2: pull out the box score. And in the time that
- 8:00Speaker 2: I went to bed, Drake made through three interceptions.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And I'm like, what the heck happened? How did we adjust?
- 8:07Speaker 2: And how did they adjust? And we did not. And
- 8:10Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, cool. So this literally looks like
- 8:13Speaker 2: Drake May in the Super Bowl all over again. Drew
- 8:16Speaker 2: Locke had a game? I mean, granted, it was only
- 8:18Speaker 2: 16 completions for 187 and one TD. Man, still outperformed
- 8:22Speaker 2: Drake May. And I'm over here going, why are we
- 8:25Speaker 2: getting outplayed by a backup quarterback after Sam Darnold went
- 8:28Speaker 2: down in the opening draft? Like, how do we lose
- 8:33Speaker 2: to Drew Locke?
- 8:35Speaker 3: Because he locked in.
- 8:37Speaker 2: First of all, I can't make a comment for your team,
- 8:40Speaker 2: and we'll discuss that later on.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I wanted to make a joke. I wanted to make
- 8:45Speaker 3: a joke, man.
- 8:47Speaker 2: So not only did we lose the season opener to
- 8:50Speaker 2: the defending Super Bowl champions in a rematch of last
- 8:53Speaker 2: year's Super Bowl, we also lost A.J. Brown for at
- 8:57Speaker 2: least four weeks. It'll probably be closer to six weeks,
- 9:02Speaker 2: but hopefully that means we have time for everyone else
- 9:04Speaker 2: to get the rest of their shit together. And, you know,
- 9:07Speaker 2: that way we try to make something else happen with this.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I did anticipate us losing this game. I did anticipate
- 9:15Speaker 2: the score being somewhere along this way. I did call
- 9:18Speaker 2: it being at least a field goal game. I was
- 9:20Speaker 2: hoping that we would still win, but damn it, I
- 9:21Speaker 2: hate being right sometimes.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I mean, the fun thing, because you just said it,
- 9:26Speaker 1: that you did predict Seattle to win. Because remember, as
- 9:30Speaker 1: we did last week, we did do Pickhams and everything.
- 9:33Speaker 1: We were all perfect on that game. We picked Seattle.
- 9:37Speaker 1: We picked Seattle to cover. And we all picked the under.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So we went perfect in that game.
- 9:44Speaker 2: You know who didn't go perfect? Drake May with three interceptions.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say, those interceptions were not
- 9:50Speaker 3: even good either. It was a lot of overfroze, underfroze,
- 9:53Speaker 3: and then whatever the hell just happened that game.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Now, at bare minimum, though, and I think the three
- 9:59Speaker 1: of us... us can also agree with one of those interceptions,
- 10:04Speaker 1: the second one most notably, it wouldn't have happened if
- 10:07Speaker 1: Romeo Dobbs catches that ball because he did not have
- 10:11Speaker 1: a defender around him. He was the only Pelican in
- 10:15Speaker 1: the Puget Sound. That's how wide open he was.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Let me get very close to my microphone when I
- 10:22Speaker 2: say this. That man fucking robbed us of money.
- 10:27Speaker 3: And that right there is the tears of Green Bay.
- 10:37Speaker 2: That man literally said, here's this giant cupcake helmet. Watch
- 10:42Speaker 2: me still not be able to catch anything. I thought,
- 10:46Speaker 2: oh my god. I thought some of the other receivers
- 10:50Speaker 2: in this league had butterfingers. That man over here tried
- 10:52Speaker 2: to make a block tackle after an interception and decided
- 10:55Speaker 2: that he wanted to try to whiff the air instead.
- 10:59Speaker 2: And I said, we paid this man money, like WR2 money,
- 11:03Speaker 2: for him to look like this? Is he concussed already
- 11:08Speaker 2: and we just not realize it? Like, what happened? Either
- 11:13Speaker 2: that or this man is Jameis Winston before the eye surgery.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Because this man was seeing doubles or something. He just
- 11:19Speaker 2: happened to call the wrong one.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Welcome to the season, ladies and gentlemen.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So, Brandon, I think we need to ask, though. First
- 11:30Speaker 1: impression on New England. Was it effective or did it fail?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Have a seat, Romeo. Okay. I wish I could say
- 11:46Speaker 2: it was effective, but no, Patriots flopped the first game.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I hate it for them. I miss you, Tom Brady.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Please come back, baby XOXO. Here's hoping we'd turn it
- 11:56Speaker 2: around week two against Pittsburgh, but we're probably not going to. Okay, anyway.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You're going to get hit with the Steeler BS and
- 12:06Speaker 1: then be like, oh, yeah, this is happening.
- 12:08Speaker 3: It's the Steelers do this every time.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I'm going to turn around and go into this next
- 12:11Speaker 2: week's episode like, all right, so Patriots are 0-2. Congratulations.
- 12:14Speaker 3: How do we feel? And then everyone clamors at you saying, Drake,
- 12:18Speaker 3: the schedule may.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Oh, God. Drake needs to get a better grip on
- 12:22Speaker 2: his balls, man.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Okay, going on the Seattle side, yes, you did mention it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Sam Darnold, hip injury in the first play, first drive
- 12:32Speaker 3: with the Seahawks offense. And yeah, unfortunately, he's going to
- 12:36Speaker 3: be out next week as well. Drew Locke, he's going
- 12:39Speaker 3: to have to lock in as he did in this
- 12:40Speaker 3: week one game against the Patriots. He had that one touchdown,
- 12:42Speaker 3: which is a simple catch and run by Jackson Smith
- 12:45Speaker 3: and Jigba. And that really was the momentum slinger.
- 12:49Speaker 1: It definitely was the momentum swinger. Now I do also
- 12:52Speaker 1: want to say, um, I had Sam Darnold in fantasy
- 12:57Speaker 1: this week. So when I saw that he was out,
- 13:01Speaker 1: like I had just went to walk the dogs and
- 13:05Speaker 1: cause you know, I'm thinking to myself, okay, let me
- 13:07Speaker 1: get the dogs out quickly right before the game starts.
- 13:10Speaker 1: By the time I'm back inside, Sam Darnold is out
- 13:12Speaker 1: and drew lock is in like, I was like, what happened? And, um,
- 13:18Speaker 1: Then I'm like, oh, shit, I started him in fantasy. Well,
- 13:24Speaker 1: can't get much worse. But at least I had Jackson
- 13:26Speaker 1: Smith and Jigba in one of my leagues.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I will say that on that note, while we're still
- 13:31Speaker 2: talking about the Patriots, you know, JSN did do his
- 13:35Speaker 2: thing as reigning OPOY. For sure. You know, eight catches,
- 13:39Speaker 2: 122 yards TD on 11 targets. Good for him. Man's
- 13:44Speaker 2: a great receiver. Gonzo did his job against JSN. Whenever
- 13:49Speaker 2: it was just JSN versus Gonzo, Christian Gonzalez held him
- 13:53Speaker 2: to four catches for 27 yards. Man did his job,
- 13:59Speaker 2: I will say. However, it should have been like that
- 14:02Speaker 2: all night long. Why we allowed soft zone coverages versus
- 14:06Speaker 2: one of the best receivers in the league is beyond me.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Epic failure, ineffective New England.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean.
- 14:17Speaker 1: What more else is there to say? I mean, you
- 14:19Speaker 1: guys are playing Pittsburgh in week two. I think Brandon
- 14:24Speaker 1: has already given us a spoiler as to what side
- 14:27Speaker 1: he'll be picking, but that'll come in a little bit.
- 14:34Speaker 1: All I can say is, I mean, Wednesday football, I
- 14:38Speaker 1: think we might be getting that from now on for
- 14:40Speaker 1: an NFL kickoff, unless we don't want Wednesday football for
- 14:43Speaker 1: an NFL kickoff.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I really.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Don't know what's more to think about that. Yeah, we
- 14:48Speaker 3: went through the injury reports. Obviously, we saw AJ Brown
- 14:50Speaker 3: get hurt, as well as Sam Darnold. Both of them
- 14:52Speaker 3: are going to be out at least long-term. I don't
- 14:55Speaker 3: know how long Darnold will be out exactly. They didn't
- 14:56Speaker 3: put him on IR, so there's that. But he will
- 14:59Speaker 3: be missing next week.
- 15:02Speaker 1: He will be missing next week.
- 15:05Speaker 2: But.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Let's move on, guys, to the next game because we'll
- 15:10Speaker 1: get to the Sunday slate in a quick second because
- 15:14Speaker 1: we were actually talking about, do we want to talk
- 15:16Speaker 1: about just our three teams first or do we want
- 15:19Speaker 1: to go in order of the games?
- 15:22Speaker 2: Let's just go ahead and knock our three out, yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I mean, I'm fine with talking about the Rams and
- 15:28Speaker 1: the Niners first because that one's going to be quick.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Actually, no, I was going to say because this is
- 15:33Speaker 3: almost a shocker from down under. No reference to the
- 15:39Speaker 3: substation because Brandon's obsessed with it.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Look, man, I'm just saying. If I remember correctly, all
- 15:47Speaker 2: three of us were wrong about this game.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Yeah, we were. Because here's the thing. The substation didn't
- 15:53Speaker 3: affect the 49ers. It affected the Rams.
- 15:56Speaker 1: The only thing that we got right, Nova predicted the
- 15:59Speaker 1: game to finish under. Yeah. And he was right. It
- 16:03Speaker 1: finished under. Because it was down under, Mike.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Boo.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Okay, yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Boo.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Let me join with that.
- 16:14Speaker 3: But yeah, this was a total shocker.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean... What more is there to say?
- 16:21Speaker 3: I mean, by the way, the game was Niners 27
- 16:25Speaker 3: ramps seven.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I mean, look, Brock Purdy looked impressive.
- 16:32Speaker 1: The Niners run game looked really good. I think Brock Purdy,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I think he was sacked.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Maybe what one.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Time or no Brock Purdy was not sacked at all.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Oh, then. Yeah. Okay.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Then.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's actually, there were no sacks.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Uh throughout the entire game yep um wow.
- 16:52Speaker 5: That's something yeah um what what i can also say
- 16:58Speaker 5: i mean look mike evans he looked good and what
- 17:03Speaker 5: was i think what was most shocking to me though
- 17:05Speaker 5: was mike evans play i think the majority of that
- 17:07Speaker 5: game if not the entire game in the slot You
- 17:11Speaker 5: want to talk about a fricking mismatch, a six foot
- 17:14Speaker 5: five wide receiver, and he's playing in the slot.
- 17:19Speaker 4: There ain't no corner that can cover him.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I was also going to mention, cause the Rams made
- 17:25Speaker 3: huge splashes on defense. You know, they went ahead and
- 17:27Speaker 3: got Trent McDuffie. They went ahead and traded for miles. Garrett,
- 17:30Speaker 3: Aaron Donald, unfortunately didn't make the trip to Australia.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Trans translation for that one. Nova.
- 17:38Speaker 4: They're playing at home next week. He wasn't going to Australia.
- 17:43Speaker 1: He's going to have the biggest freaking opening since Taylor
- 17:49Speaker 1: Swift and Travis Kelsey get him married when he runs
- 17:54Speaker 1: out of that tunnel next Monday night against the Giants.
- 17:57Speaker 2: No, it's not because he's on IR.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Well, Aaron Don actually on IR.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Oh, it's on Miles Garrett.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I'm talking about Aaron Donald.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Oh, he needs to be on IR too.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Okay, thanks for cutting into the segment because apparently Miles
- 18:13Speaker 3: Garrett had a knee injury during this game. So already
- 18:17Speaker 3: a big move for the Rams not sitting well as
- 18:21Speaker 3: they're losing a big time defensive end in week one.
- 18:24Speaker 3: But also, to Brandon's enjoyment, the substation claimed another niner.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Yes, the substation did indeed. Deshawn Shribling. Unfortunately, I think
- 18:43Speaker 1: he's a rookie. Yeah, I believe you're right. He is
- 18:51Speaker 1: a rookie. He just went on a route, and next
- 18:57Speaker 1: thing you know, he is just in so much pain,
- 19:01Speaker 1: it's not even fun.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Huh. Got to finish powering up Christian McCaffrey, I guess.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and actually, I need to bring this up as well,
- 19:12Speaker 3: because Matthew Stafford did not have a good game either.
- 19:14Speaker 3: So we're already talking about the two MVP candidates from
- 19:18Speaker 3: last year having goose eggs on their opening week.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Matt Stafford, 15 for 25, 155 in a pick.
- 19:27Speaker 2: It's not the best thing in the world for him.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Yeah, both picks in that game were like, what the
- 19:35Speaker 1: hell kind of picks? Were you guys throwing? And then
- 19:39Speaker 1: also with the Rams, I don't know if you guys
- 19:42Speaker 1: saw it, but that fourth and goal QB sneak by
- 19:45Speaker 1: Stafford that the Niners stuffed, I'm not. so convinced that
- 19:52Speaker 1: the Niners stuffed him. I think he might have broke
- 19:55Speaker 1: the plane.
- 19:56Speaker 3: That's neither here nor there, unfortunately. But yeah, the Rams
- 19:59Speaker 3: got to figure it out because as you're going to
- 20:02Speaker 3: see later on this episode, they might have a tough
- 20:03Speaker 3: contest coming up on the Monday Night Football stage at
- 20:06Speaker 3: SoFi Stadium.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, they might have a tough one on that one. Meanwhile,
- 20:12Speaker 1: for the 49ers, let's.
- 20:16Speaker 2: See.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Who do they play next? Oh, that.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Okay, yeah.
- 20:19Speaker 1: We'll talk about that one because that one will be
- 20:22Speaker 1: a lot of fun. But what I will also say,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and you guys can also chime in, feel free to.
- 20:30Speaker 1: The game in Australia... I thought it was a success.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I thought the crowd was excellent. That stadium looked great.
- 20:39Speaker 1: The grass looked great. It was 57 degrees at kickoff,
- 20:45Speaker 1: which was great.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Oh, that's beautiful.
- 20:49Speaker 1: What else can I say?
- 20:51Speaker 3: The Niners embraced the culture because they were in the
- 20:54Speaker 3: country a lot longer than the Rams. That was great.
- 20:59Speaker 3: And yes, I blame you on the Rams. Why would
- 21:01Speaker 3: you take a one day trip to Australia and then
- 21:03Speaker 3: just flop? I don't think that's good at all.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Apparently something about they rented the A380, which I guess
- 21:14Speaker 1: is like the most expensive charter flight in the world.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And allegedly the plane flies at such low altitude that
- 21:26Speaker 1: they were basically on Pacific time the entire flight. because
- 21:31Speaker 1: of how low altitude it was. And apparently they've been
- 21:34Speaker 1: sending staffers there the last two years because they've been
- 21:38Speaker 1: monitoring the body and whatnot. Like, look, I think I
- 21:43Speaker 1: speak for all of us when I say this. The Rams,
- 21:46Speaker 1: your first impression is a fail.
- 21:49Speaker 3: And it's only getting worse again with that Myles Garrett injury.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah. We'll see how the Rams fare in.
- 22:00Speaker 4: in week two.
- 22:01Speaker 1: But Brandon, I think I speak, was I correct in
- 22:03Speaker 1: speaking for you, man? Fail for the Rams?
- 22:07Speaker 2: Absolutely. And as you're over here saying that, I'm over here,
- 22:10Speaker 2: you know, and we'll touch on this later. I'm picking
- 22:12Speaker 2: up the Niners defense in fantasy right now. I'm putting
- 22:15Speaker 2: in a waiver claim for it.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Of course he is. Of course he is.
- 22:21Speaker 3: All right. Let's move over to the Sunday slate where
- 22:24Speaker 3: we could talk about our team's first end of I
- 22:27Speaker 3: think we can continue on to the negative bandwagon, unfortunately,
- 22:30Speaker 3: because talent has a lot to say about Falcons and Steelers. Oh, corn.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Oh, but by the way, ladies and gentlemen, before we
- 22:38Speaker 1: got into this, we were talking about which way we
- 22:42Speaker 1: were going to lead with this game. Cause Nova's Ravens
- 22:46Speaker 1: also played in the one o'clock slate on Sunday. And
- 22:51Speaker 1: we actually did rock paper scissors to see who gets
- 22:54Speaker 1: to talk about their team first. And unfortunately, I lost.
- 22:58Speaker 1: So it's fitting that I get to talk about my
- 23:02Speaker 1: team first.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I mean, it was probably going to be the better
- 23:06Speaker 3: synergistic anyway, just to get the negativity out. Oh yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Plenty, plenty of negativity to talk
- 23:14Speaker 1: about here. Most notably, I was right about, Because as
- 23:22Speaker 1: I said last week, as I said for months on end,
- 23:27Speaker 1: the Falcons cannot beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. I didn't care
- 23:33Speaker 1: if it was Michael Penix under center.
- 23:37Speaker 4: I didn't care if DJ.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Shockley came off of the fucking pregame show. The Falcons
- 23:45Speaker 1: were not winning that game.
- 23:47Speaker 4: It helped nothing.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Even better to bolster my claim that on Thursday, Tua
- 23:53Speaker 1: Tagovailoa has an oblique strain. So we already declared Michael
- 23:59Speaker 1: Penix Jr.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Out for Sunday's game.
- 24:03Speaker 1: My translation of that was Penix just didn't want to
- 24:06Speaker 1: play against TJ Watt on his first game back. I
- 24:09Speaker 1: don't blame him for that. Some Falcons fans may say
- 24:13Speaker 1: that's a total bitch move, but I digress. But yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 1: when Cooper Rush was starting, it just exacerbated that we
- 24:23Speaker 1: were not going to win that game. Outside of Bajon
- 24:25Speaker 1: Robinson breaking the all-time single-game rushing yards record, which I
- 24:30Speaker 1: think is just a little over 300 yards, if I
- 24:34Speaker 1: remember correctly, is the single-game record. And Bajon nearly did
- 24:40Speaker 1: it all himself. He had 173 yards of the Falcons.
- 24:43Speaker 3: 238 total yards.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And my fantasy team thanks him.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Of course your fantasy team does. I'm not surprised at that.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I want to interject here by saying Cooper Rush in
- 24:59Speaker 3: 2026 is hilarious considering he did terrible under Ravens last year.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Cooper Rush is hilarious, period.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 25:06Speaker 4: He's hilarious, all right. Because, look.
- 25:10Speaker 1: The first interception, and again, we'll talk about it during
- 25:16Speaker 1: the next time we get Brandon's villain arc here on
- 25:20Speaker 1: the program. But the first interception he threw when he
- 25:26Speaker 1: overshot Jahan Dotson He did one of the stupidest things
- 25:31Speaker 1: that I'm pretty sure they teach you in grade school
- 25:35Speaker 1: football what not to do. When you're thrust out of
- 25:39Speaker 1: the pocket, when the play is broken down, you don't
- 25:43Speaker 1: force it over the middle where there's a safety. You
- 25:47Speaker 1: throw the ball away, you live to see another down.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And Cooper Rush didn't do that. It was picked off.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And like five plays later, Aaron Rodgers finds Pat Fryer
- 25:59Speaker 1: moved with a incredible throw through the Falcons defense on
- 26:05Speaker 1: a third down, mind you. So yeah, you know, it's
- 26:08Speaker 1: not like anything has changed with the Falcons and their
- 26:11Speaker 1: third down defense. However, That defense is still freaking impressive.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Whatever shit Jeff Ulbrich and Nate Ali have done with
- 26:23Speaker 1: the defense, and that's missing Jalen Walker. That's missing James
- 26:28Speaker 1: Pierce Jr. That lost Caden Ellis in free agency. That
- 26:34Speaker 1: drafted Avion Terrell that has... All kinds of players out there.
- 26:42Speaker 1: You started Divine Diablo with the green dot, which he
- 26:45Speaker 1: did a good job and nearly had a pick, too.
- 26:49Speaker 1: That was a beautiful layer throw by Aaron Rodgers right
- 26:54Speaker 1: over Divine Diablo. Because, again, Diablo was in a great position.
- 26:58Speaker 1: It was just right over his fingertips. And then Sedarius Smith.
- 27:05Speaker 1: The guy is retired. The guy loses his parents. comes
- 27:10Speaker 1: back to play football. He goes to the Falcons who,
- 27:13Speaker 1: which are his hometown team. And he sacks Aaron Rogers
- 27:16Speaker 1: twice in that game. And we could have had a
- 27:20Speaker 1: third sack, but the yellow hanky decided to rear its
- 27:26Speaker 1: ugly head because AJ Terrell got a holding penalty and
- 27:30Speaker 1: AJ Terrell got a defensive pass interference penalty. Although in
- 27:34Speaker 1: that case, I respect AJ Terrell for what he did.
- 27:38Speaker 1: He would rather take the penalty yards than give up
- 27:42Speaker 1: a touchdown. And Atlanta held Pittsburgh to a field goal
- 27:46Speaker 1: on that drive. So all in all, net positive there.
- 27:50Speaker 1: He might have gotten away with one on DK Metcalf
- 27:54Speaker 1: in the third quarter. when he kind of hit DK's
- 27:58Speaker 1: right arm early. And I think the refs just thought
- 28:02Speaker 1: of it as a bang-bang play or whatever. And technically
- 28:06Speaker 1: it was a bang-bang play because AJ bang-banged his shoulder
- 28:10Speaker 1: on the ground with that. But outside of that, I mean,
- 28:16Speaker 1: and then special teams, man. Look, the punter that we had,
- 28:20Speaker 1: this Bailey kid or whatever, The kid had some fucking
- 28:25Speaker 1: great punts.
- 28:27Speaker 4: And Pittsburgh was struggling to.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Move the ball outside of, like, that one touchdown drive
- 28:35Speaker 1: or when they would get to the field goals or whatever.
- 28:37Speaker 1: And that's what DK Metcalf and they just got Rico
- 28:40Speaker 1: Dowdle to pair with Jalen Warren. You have Aaron Rodgers
- 28:44Speaker 1: paired up with Mike McCarthy again.
- 28:46Speaker 2: And.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And even on kick return, Zachariah branches, a 66 yard
- 28:52Speaker 1: kick return. And it's negated by a holding penalty. That
- 28:55Speaker 1: was so fucking soft of a hole. I haven't like
- 29:00Speaker 1: I've ever seen on these newer, uh, kick returns and whatever.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Uh, so that sucked.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Uh, Brian Robinson had a sort of a negative, uh,
- 29:11Speaker 1: kick return because it was like he didn't know if
- 29:15Speaker 1: he stopped or if he caught it and the momentum
- 29:19Speaker 1: pushed him back into the end zone.
- 29:20Speaker 4: It was like one of those close ones.
- 29:22Speaker 1: But Brian Robinson, very good and complimentary for Bajon Robinson.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I think he averaged 3.8 yards a carry, which for
- 29:30Speaker 1: a complimentary back, that's really good. And then again, let's
- 29:34Speaker 1: talk about Bajon Robinson. It is a fail that Drake
- 29:39Speaker 1: London and Kyle Pitts couldn't do anything.
- 29:41Speaker 4: But that's also a damnation.
- 29:43Speaker 1: On Cooper Rush because Kyle Pitts beat Jalen Ramsey and
- 29:47Speaker 1: would have hit his head on the freaking goal post
- 29:50Speaker 1: if Cooper Rush would have just put that ball in
- 29:52Speaker 1: front of him. But crying out loud, Jiminy Christmas Monkey Crackers.
- 30:00Speaker 4: With that horrible throw.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And then Kyle Pitts wasn't targeted for the rest of
- 30:04Speaker 1: the game.
- 30:08Speaker 3: If this man's not screaming for Jack Strand, I don't
- 30:11Speaker 3: know what he's doing.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I want Pennix! But apparently, who the fuck knows who
- 30:16Speaker 1: our quarterback is going to be this week? Because they
- 30:20Speaker 1: listed the depth chart, and Tua's the starter, Cooper's the backup,
- 30:26Speaker 1: Jack Strand is quarterback three, and Pennix is QB four.
- 30:30Speaker 1: So who the frick knows what's going to happen?
- 30:34Speaker 3: You also want to talk about the TJ Watt pick?
- 30:38Speaker 1: A little bit because, again, it's T.J. Watt that was
- 30:43Speaker 1: kind of to be expected. And even Tommy Reese in
- 30:47Speaker 1: the press box. You literally saw him. They actually went
- 30:50Speaker 1: to Tommy Reese and he's.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Like, oh, my God.
- 30:55Speaker 1: And it wasn't like the sad, dejected one. This one
- 31:00Speaker 1: was like a mixture of sly, impressive, because, again, it's T.J.
- 31:06Speaker 1: freaking Watt. Mixed with the, I can't fucking believe he
- 31:10Speaker 1: threw that ball.
- 31:13Speaker 3: I also remember Mike Tomlin said this on the Sunday
- 31:15Speaker 3: Night Football broadcast that this is why TJ Watt's so
- 31:18Speaker 3: good at defending the screen.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he timed Cooper Rush's... Snap count perfectly. Again,
- 31:26Speaker 1: that's why he's such a good defensive end. And I
- 31:30Speaker 1: know I spoke about special teams. Nick Folk, he missed
- 31:33Speaker 1: three kicks all of last year. He misses two in
- 31:36Speaker 1: this game from 54. Now look, the 54-yard one, I
- 31:41Speaker 1: can throw that one. away because Chris Boswell missed from 56.
- 31:45Speaker 1: So look, I can give folk a little bit of
- 31:49Speaker 1: slack and then shout outs to my friend, Daniel flick
- 31:52Speaker 1: of the Atlanta journal constitution. Apparently it's really difficult to
- 31:56Speaker 1: kick in Pittsburgh stadium for field goals because something about
- 32:01Speaker 1: the wind with the Ohio river. I don't know much
- 32:05Speaker 1: about that. Daniel can tell us more about that at
- 32:08Speaker 1: a later time, if, and when he decides he wants to, but, Uh, yeah,
- 32:13Speaker 1: he missed from 54. He missed from 45. Uh, he
- 32:19Speaker 1: made one, I think from 51, if I remember correctly,
- 32:22Speaker 1: or from 50 exactly, if I remember correctly. And then, uh,
- 32:28Speaker 1: hold on. I got it right here. He, um, yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you know, 51 yard field goal and then a 43
- 32:33Speaker 1: yard field goal. So, He was one for two from 40-plus,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and he was one of two from 50-plus. So all
- 32:44Speaker 1: in all, not horrible. But when you factor in that...
- 32:52Speaker 1: Atlanta could have potentially won that game if not for
- 32:56Speaker 1: the missed field goals, if not for the nine penalties
- 32:59Speaker 1: for 96 yards because Chris Lindstrom and Matthew Bergeron decide
- 33:04Speaker 1: to hold all the time. And surprisingly, Jawan Taylor did
- 33:07Speaker 1: not get a holding penalty, I don't think, which is
- 33:11Speaker 1: kind of surprising to say the least. I know DK
- 33:16Speaker 1: Metcalf got two offensive pass interferences, but I mean, it's
- 33:20Speaker 1: DK Metcalf. He's shoving a guy. You really think you're
- 33:24Speaker 1: not going to get him when you get a full-arm shove? Like,
- 33:28Speaker 1: miss me, DK. Miss me on that one. And then injury-wise,
- 33:34Speaker 1: apparently Chris Lindstrom is in concussion protocol, so that's a
- 33:38Speaker 1: good thing. And Deshaun Hand, a defensive lineman for Atlanta,
- 33:43Speaker 1: he tore his quad.
- 33:47Speaker 3: That's rough.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so now he's out for the year.
- 33:51Speaker 1: So in a span of a month, the Falcons have
- 33:54Speaker 1: lost three of their defensive line rotation. They might have
- 33:59Speaker 1: lost Chris Lindstrom for this week against Carolina, which already
- 34:04Speaker 1: a tough matchup in and of itself. We don't know
- 34:07Speaker 1: who the fricking quarterback is going to be.
- 34:10Speaker 3: We don't, we never want to see Cooper rush start
- 34:18Speaker 3: ever again. Let's be real.
- 34:19Speaker 1: I would rather see Brandon suck up his Carolina pride
- 34:26Speaker 1: and put on the Falcon red and quarterback before I
- 34:31Speaker 1: want Cooper rush back in the game.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie, I didn't know where you
- 34:34Speaker 2: were going with that statement, and I was about to
- 34:36Speaker 2: be very concerned.
- 34:41Speaker 1: But no, I mean, look... I'm saying it right now
- 34:44Speaker 1: on both sides. That was a fail on both Pittsburgh
- 34:48Speaker 1: and Atlanta. It was a fail on Atlanta because, again,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you can't really do much with a third string quarterback,
- 34:54Speaker 1: but you were limiting yourself no matter what. And it's
- 34:57Speaker 1: a fail on Pittsburgh because you are touting this offense.
- 35:02Speaker 1: You are touting the final season of Aaron Rodgers. And
- 35:06Speaker 1: your offense could only muster up the same amount of
- 35:10Speaker 1: points that Atlanta's offense could muster up. That's a fail.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was saying last week about Mike McCarthy.
- 35:19Speaker 2: He was great when Aaron Rodgers was in his prime,
- 35:23Speaker 2: and Aaron Rodgers had a better arm. He had better weapons.
- 35:27Speaker 2: But I told you that both of them have definitely
- 35:30Speaker 2: regressed a lot in the coming years. So I'm very
- 35:33Speaker 2: glad to see that that still held true.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I was going to say, it really just feels like
- 35:38Speaker 3: nothing's changed at Pittsburgh, where it's like they play down
- 35:41Speaker 3: to the competition yet again. And then somehow find a
- 35:44Speaker 3: way to pull through in the end again. It's like
- 35:46Speaker 3: the script hasn't changed.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 1: But that was the negative. Let's turn to the positive.
- 35:59Speaker 1: And well, Nova, how about them Ravens, huh?
- 36:06Speaker 3: Yeah. And their new uniforms, by the way, they did
- 36:09Speaker 3: a lot more better than the Falcons could ask for.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I want to throw it at it before I say
- 36:12Speaker 3: anything more.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Of course he did, Brandon. Of course he did.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Look, I mean, I'm just saying the man's team put
- 36:19Speaker 2: up more points than both of ours did combined, so.
- 36:21Speaker 3: I mean, I was concerned at the very beginning because
- 36:25Speaker 3: on the opening drive for the Colts, you know, it
- 36:26Speaker 3: was like a decent driver, Daniel Jones, and then John
- 36:30Speaker 3: and Taylor got that touchdown. I was like, uh-oh, this
- 36:32Speaker 3: better not be what Brandon's saying about not putting stock
- 36:34Speaker 3: in the preseason because it's an opening drive touchdown for
- 36:36Speaker 3: Jesse Minter. It's not a good thing. How about Declan Doyle,
- 36:40Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson, and his offense? Clearly on the first drive.
- 36:44Speaker 3: It was smooth sailing for Lamar Jackson as well as
- 36:47Speaker 3: for Zay Flowers, who apparently over the internet was being
- 36:50Speaker 3: doubted through the extension he got. Oh, he's not receiver
- 36:53Speaker 3: one money. You best damn believe he was receiver one money.
- 36:58Speaker 3: He had multiple deep passes caught, especially in that game.
- 37:02Speaker 3: That first touchdown drive, immensely perfect. That ended with a
- 37:06Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson five-yard touchdown. Then Derrick Henry got a four-yard
- 37:10Speaker 3: touchdown as soon as he escaped a big third and 17.
- 37:14Speaker 3: as well during that drive. There was a Roquan Smith interception,
- 37:17Speaker 3: which I greatly appreciated because Roquan actually had a down
- 37:20Speaker 3: year last year. And then there was a 54-yard touchdown
- 37:25Speaker 3: pass from Lamar to Zay. And then it just kept
- 37:30Speaker 3: on pouring in. Eric Henry had another touchdown. He had
- 37:32Speaker 3: three of them today on that day. And then, I
- 37:35Speaker 3: don't know the best part, freaking Tyler Loop made both
- 37:39Speaker 3: his kicks, including a 57-yarder, which is just a career long.
- 37:45Speaker 4: And you want to know how good of a game
- 37:48Speaker 4: Tyler Loup had, Nova?
- 37:51Speaker 3: I can say it because I had a fantasy game
- 37:54Speaker 3: against him, unfortunately.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Oh no, he was so good, the Ravens cut Jake Moody.
- 37:59Speaker 3: I was going to say, it took me today to
- 38:01Speaker 3: cut Jake Moody for the practice squad. Yeah, he was
- 38:05Speaker 3: that good. But the defense, apart from the first drive,
- 38:09Speaker 3: was immensely perfect, you know. Jesse Minter definitely made his
- 38:12Speaker 3: presence known with his defense. Roquan Smith, he is so back.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Not only that interception, but he had 11 tackles as well.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I can also have it on the box score right now.
- 38:21Speaker 3: 506 total yards of offense for the Ravens on the
- 38:24Speaker 3: first game with Declan Doyle as the OC. 304 on
- 38:27Speaker 3: the air and 202 on the ground. And a 124
- 38:34Speaker 3: quarterback rating for Lamar Jackson as well. So for everybody
- 38:38Speaker 3: saying Lamar Jackson's not the better quarterback, I hope you
- 38:41Speaker 3: all take notice because he might be back.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Hmm, Brandon, what do you got to say about that?
- 38:48Speaker 2: I say my fantasy team also thanks Derrick Henry in
- 38:51Speaker 2: addition to B. John Robinson.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, my fantasy team thanks Derrick Henry too.
- 38:57Speaker 2: 224 carries, 144 in three scores. Yes, please, King. Thank you.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Keep going. Do it again next week.
- 39:01Speaker 3: It's also Moose in the third place all time in
- 39:03Speaker 3: rushing touchdowns.
- 39:06Speaker 2: But to touch back on what Nova was saying, wow,
- 39:10Speaker 2: English is really fucking hard there in that moment. 17
- 39:13Speaker 2: completions by Lamar Jackson. Completions for 324 yards. Now, just
- 39:25Speaker 2: for the record, that's just barely over 19 yards per completion.
- 39:31Speaker 2: That's slicing and dicing a secondary.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I mean, who's the receiver numbers? Obviously,
- 39:40Speaker 3: Zay Flowers, five receptions, 150 yards, including that 54-yard touchdown.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Chris Moore, who was picked up for the practice squad
- 39:47Speaker 3: just this week, had only one catch. as a 53-yarder.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Mark Andrews, four receptions, 49 yards.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I also just want to point out that since the
- 40:00Speaker 2: Colts' defense has picked up Sauce Gardner, I want to
- 40:05Speaker 2: say the statistic is that they are one win and
- 40:07Speaker 2: eight losses since picking up Sauce.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder who their one win was against.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 40:19Speaker 3: It was against Atlanta in Europe.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yay!
- 40:25Speaker 2: And how does that make you feel?
- 40:27Speaker 1: It doesn't.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Now, what are feelings?
- 40:32Speaker 3: Yeah, there are actually some relevant things on the injury report.
- 40:35Speaker 3: I mean, other than the fact that Kobe Lane had
- 40:37Speaker 3: his first career touchdown taken back by a penalty, which
- 40:40Speaker 3: I'm a little mad about. Both Zay Flowers and Jacoby
- 40:43Speaker 3: Lane are out with injuries. Zay Flowers is day-to-day with
- 40:45Speaker 3: a hamstring sprain and a broken wrist was reported for
- 40:48Speaker 3: Jacoby Lane, which puts him out for at least four weeks,
- 40:51Speaker 3: which I'm a little upset by because now it's essentially
- 40:54Speaker 3: Zay Flowers and Rashad Bateman, maybe. Otherwise, the receiver room
- 40:58Speaker 3: is kind of in a weird spot. You know, we
- 41:00Speaker 3: have LeJonte Wester. Unfortunately, Tez Walker is still in IR.
- 41:04Speaker 3: And then Mark Andrews, Matthew Hibner, Dermot Smythe. That's tight ends.
- 41:08Speaker 3: I don't think it's the worst thing, but I'm already
- 41:10Speaker 3: hearing words that the Ravens are already looking at the
- 41:12Speaker 3: receiver position for free agency.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I mean, but overall, I'm assuming that Baltimore was effective, right?
- 41:26Speaker 3: You're not defective, okay? Let's get that straight. I heard defective.
- 41:33Speaker 2: I mean, they're, they're effective for sure.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I mean, again, as we said, I mean, Lamar Jackson
- 41:39Speaker 3: also alluded to this. You guys are not ready for
- 41:42Speaker 3: this new offense under Declan Doyle. He warned you.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Look, man, I'm just saying, I'm just saying Tyree kills
- 41:50Speaker 2: a free agent.
- 41:53Speaker 3: He wouldn't be the worst option. I mean, I'm not
- 41:55Speaker 3: sure how good two speedsters in the receiver room is.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Cause Zay Flowers is essentially a speedster, but if he's
- 42:00Speaker 3: not able to go, in Week 2 against the Saints,
- 42:03Speaker 3: then yeah, he might not be the worst pickup.
- 42:07Speaker 2: DeAndre Hopkins is about you bringing back the Baltimore.
- 42:10Speaker 3: But he's the receiver's host at Georgia Tech!
- 42:18Speaker 1: I mean, we're going to talk about this team in
- 42:20Speaker 1: a little bit, but apparently Drew Brees was all set
- 42:22Speaker 1: to be the Broncos quarterback for that AFC championship game
- 42:27Speaker 1: back in January against Brandon's Patriots. But apparently his arm
- 42:33Speaker 1: is so fucked up that he can't even throw a
- 42:36Speaker 1: ball 15 yards.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Says a lot about, you know, post-retirement stuff. But yeah. Also,
- 42:43Speaker 3: I think we both missed this. It went over, and
- 42:45Speaker 3: that's kind of like... Yeah, that game went over on
- 42:47Speaker 3: the over-under spread. And I gotta say, 100% success. I
- 42:52Speaker 3: hope this continues because I really want people to recognize
- 42:57Speaker 3: how good the Ravens is instead of just, you know,
- 42:59Speaker 3: trash-talking them everywhere on the internet. It's all I've been seeing,
- 43:01Speaker 3: and I'm glad we all shut them up.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it was effective. All right, so they
- 43:09Speaker 1: are effective. Indianapolis, we'll chalk it up to an early fail.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a week one thing. It's like you got
- 43:19Speaker 3: handed a tough opponent week one. So it's like, I mean, again,
- 43:23Speaker 3: Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor didn't look that bad. But
- 43:25Speaker 3: the problem was like the defense picked up after they
- 43:27Speaker 3: gave up the opening drive touchdown.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Moving on.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Let's talk about this game because it hits close to home,
- 43:37Speaker 1: not just for Nova, but it hits close to home
- 43:39Speaker 1: for Brandon as well. The Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans. Boy,
- 43:48Speaker 1: was that a game?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Oh, wait, wait.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Are you talking about this button? That button?
- 43:59Speaker 2: So much for the scariest defense in the NFL being
- 44:01Speaker 2: the Houston Texans.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Yeah, they gave me negative points in fantasy.
- 44:06Speaker 2: They also gave me minus four in fantasy. All my
- 44:10Speaker 2: same team at B-Shot, Eric Henry are on, mind you. Wow.
- 44:15Speaker 3: But, you know, my quick summary is that Josh Allen
- 44:17Speaker 3: had to be the carry job again. And I don't
- 44:21Speaker 3: understand why does Bill seems like that?
- 44:27Speaker 1: I mean.
- 44:28Speaker 4: Look, I'll say this.
- 44:29Speaker 1: The DJ Moore sign-in was great for Buffalo, so that's good.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Outside of that, CJ Stroud, if you're trying to be
- 44:42Speaker 1: a $ 60 million a year quarterback, you don't take back-to-back sacks,
- 44:48Speaker 1: including a lost fumble inside the opposing 15 with the
- 44:55Speaker 1: game on the line.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's definitely in your.
- 45:07Speaker 4: Resume.
- 45:08Speaker 2: It was not very cash money on C.J. Stroud.
- 45:11Speaker 3: I mean, he did do all right on the offense,
- 45:13Speaker 3: apart from that final drive. Let's be honest.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, again, this is the most points given
- 45:19Speaker 1: up by a D'Amico Ryan's defense since his rookie year
- 45:23Speaker 1: as a head coach. So when you think about it,
- 45:26Speaker 1: it's kind of impressive that that it took that kind
- 45:29Speaker 1: of a gargantuan effort.
- 45:31Speaker 4: By the Bills to do it.
- 45:34Speaker 1: And also, I know I brought it up with Kyle
- 45:36Speaker 1: Pitts not having a single catch in my game. Guys,
- 45:43Speaker 1: I benched Dalton Kincaid for Kyle Pitts.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Thank God I didn't.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Even though we did talk about this, so we kind
- 45:53Speaker 2: of know where this conversation is already going. So it's
- 45:56Speaker 2: going to kind of beg the public, the publicized question
- 45:59Speaker 2: side of it. My brother in Christ, Cooper Rush started
- 46:03Speaker 2: for you. What are you thinking?
- 46:06Speaker 1: I thought, again, I thought, again, I brought, I brought.
- 46:11Speaker 3: I, I, I, uh, Talon on EXE has stopped working. Guys,
- 46:17Speaker 3: Talon on EXE has stopped working. I, I, I don't have,
- 46:22Speaker 3: I don't have words.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Except, I brought it on myself. I brought it on myself.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I was smoking the hopium, as my parents would sometimes say,
- 46:37Speaker 1: or just any other people that I was. I was
- 46:40Speaker 1: smoking the hopium that Kyle Pitts would do something, anything.
- 46:44Speaker 1: And again, I deserve to.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Lose my fantasy week.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Because of that and I did thanks to Kenneth Walker
- 46:56Speaker 1: which we'll get to him in a little bit.
- 46:59Speaker 3: But yeah continuing on yeah I don't really understand what
- 47:03Speaker 3: happened to the Texans defense I said in the preseason
- 47:05Speaker 3: episodes that it was going to be the backers to
- 47:07Speaker 3: be worried about because the way the Texans defense was
- 47:09Speaker 3: playing in the preseason we really should have taken account
- 47:12Speaker 3: for the starters.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah we definitely should have right Brandon I mean I
- 47:20Speaker 1: kind of loved True. Yeah, Nova, now that I think
- 47:27Speaker 1: about it, he did try to warn us about CJ
- 47:32Speaker 1: Stratton and everything.
- 47:33Speaker 2: I know.
- 47:34Speaker 3: I was more so referring to the Texans' defense because
- 47:37Speaker 3: I thought this game was going to be under the
- 47:40Speaker 3: point spread, but it ended up going way over. And yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 3: Josh Allen, again, I'm not denying he's good. I'm just
- 47:47Speaker 3: sick and tired of the media saying, oh, he's the
- 47:49Speaker 3: best quarterback to ever exist. No one can contest with him.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Dude.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson has not lost to the Texans whenever he started.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Calm down. Oh, man. Oh, man.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Brandon, what are we going to do about this Lamar
- 48:07Speaker 1: Jackson-Josh Allen debate?
- 48:12Speaker 2: Fuck Josh Allen.
- 48:14Speaker 3: That's the realest thing you can say as a rival. Oh, man.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Where are we going next?
- 48:24Speaker 1: Let's see. We were in Houston.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Actually, no, let's get this one out of the way.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Let's get Browns Jackalars out of the way.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, me. Yes, sir.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Ooh, me, ooh, me. Okay, so first of all, my
- 48:42Speaker 2: not-so-hot take at the end of last week was that
- 48:44Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence was going to have a 5TD game versus
- 48:47Speaker 2: this shit Browns team, okay? I just want you to
- 48:50Speaker 2: know I was so close. I was a dropped touchdown
- 48:55Speaker 2: catch away from hitting it right on the money because
- 48:57Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence went 18 for 23, 245 yards and four
- 49:01Speaker 2: passing touchdowns. I just thought he would five, five offensive touchdowns.
- 49:05Speaker 2: I was so fucking close.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Fuck y'all.
- 49:07Speaker 2: But no, Trevor Lawrence looked amazing. You know who didn't
- 49:11Speaker 2: look amazing? Fucking Deshaun Watson. Dude, you had... So look,
- 49:17Speaker 2: I'm at work earlier today, right? I'm kind of surfing Twitter,
- 49:20Speaker 2: kind of looking around, seeing all these clips for the day,
- 49:22Speaker 2: trying to think of some ideas for the night. And
- 49:23Speaker 2: I come across several Twitter posts of fans who were
- 49:28Speaker 2: at the Jacksonville game. Oh, no. And you have the
- 49:33Speaker 2: Jags fans booing Deshaun Watson. Saying they want the backup
- 49:41Speaker 2: quarterback instead of Deshaun Watson.
- 49:43Speaker 3: So is Shador Sanders in this case.
- 49:46Speaker 2: They're saying we want Sanders. We want Shador. And even
- 49:52Speaker 2: what few Browns fans there were in a crowd joined them.
- 49:58Speaker 2: And cheering for we want Sanders. How bad of a
- 50:02Speaker 2: player and a person do you have to be to
- 50:05Speaker 2: where you don't even, to where both sides of the,
- 50:09Speaker 2: both sides of the ball are cheering for the backup
- 50:12Speaker 2: quarterback to take the field.
- 50:16Speaker 3: I want your opinions on this one, Talon, because I
- 50:17Speaker 3: got mine.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Because, on, on, because before, while y'all, while y'all stewing
- 50:22Speaker 2: that for a little bit, because Deshaun Watson, I'm pretty
- 50:25Speaker 2: sure he hit the dirt with the ball and his
- 50:27Speaker 2: body more.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Than he actually had a decent game. Wasn't that like
- 50:31Speaker 3: a ball he threw to the ground?
- 50:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 1: He threw the ball into the ground. He threw a
- 50:36Speaker 1: horrible pass where he was throwing it to Jerry Judy.
- 50:40Speaker 1: And shout-outs to this guy because I loved him in Atlanta.
- 50:46Speaker 1: And I even got to interview him with my old
- 50:49Speaker 1: podcast host a long time ago. But that interception by
- 50:54Speaker 1: Foye Sade Aluakun, man, that just felt right because I
- 51:01Speaker 1: fucking loved Foye.
- 51:03Speaker 4: In Atlanta.
- 51:05Speaker 1: So it was nice on that. But yeah, I mean,
- 51:11Speaker 1: Todd Munkin, what are you doing, man? You're already naming
- 51:17Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson the week two star. I mean, look, we
- 51:21Speaker 1: predicted this, the three of us and probably every person
- 51:25Speaker 1: on planet Earth. is predicting this. The Browns were not
- 51:29Speaker 1: leaving the state of Florida for the first two weeks
- 51:32Speaker 1: of the regular season. I mean, if they're smart, they
- 51:35Speaker 1: wouldn't go back to Cleveland. They would stay in Florida,
- 51:37Speaker 1: practice in Orlando, and then take the I-4 train to
- 51:41Speaker 1: fucking Tampa to play the Bucs and then fly back
- 51:45Speaker 1: home to Cleveland if they were smart. But such is
- 51:49Speaker 1: the life of being a smart NFL fan and not
- 51:52Speaker 1: a luscious NFL owner.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Fun fact, and it's not going to be so fun
- 52:03Speaker 2: once you hear the context behind it. Apparently in week one,
- 52:09Speaker 2: Deshaun Watson threw week one's longest completed pass of the
- 52:14Speaker 2: NFL slate of 62.6 yards, which was a 46-yard TD
- 52:20Speaker 2: pass to rookie Denzel Boston. That came with a minute
- 52:24Speaker 2: 40-some-odd seconds left in the game in which Jacksonville already
- 52:29Speaker 2: had its second and third strings out.
- 52:33Speaker 3: That's great. That's great.
- 52:34Speaker 2: It took this man second and third string defenses to
- 52:40Speaker 2: put seven on the board. When they already had three.
- 52:44Speaker 2: When they only had three. So this could have been
- 52:47Speaker 2: a 34-3 game. But garbage time points are garbage time.
- 52:54Speaker 3: We all knew Jacksonville was winning that game. And I
- 52:57Speaker 3: think we alluded to this before. This is going to
- 52:58Speaker 3: be a long year for Cleveland. And I don't want
- 53:03Speaker 3: to be the person to say this, but I think
- 53:05Speaker 3: Todd Punkin's seat might already be on fire.
- 53:10Speaker 1: It's getting there. But I know we also predicted it too, guys, that,
- 53:15Speaker 1: like I said, The Browns are in Florida for Jacksonville.
- 53:20Speaker 1: They're on the road next week in Tampa. I feel
- 53:26Speaker 1: like Todd Munkin is starting Deshaun on the road. So
- 53:31Speaker 1: that way they can get a full house when he
- 53:34Speaker 1: announces Shador starting the home opener. Because I'm also looking
- 53:38Speaker 1: in the Jaguars-Browns game. According to this, and I don't
- 53:43Speaker 1: know how legitimate this is because, again, I'm not in Jacksonville.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Apparently that game only had 41,000 people in that stadium.
- 53:51Speaker 1: But then again, I also got to remember the Jaguars
- 53:55Speaker 1: are still in the process of moving into their new stadium,
- 54:00Speaker 1: which will be completed in 2028 because next year they're
- 54:03Speaker 1: playing in Orlando.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say, weren't they renovating Everbank Stadium?
- 54:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I just thought of that because now I just
- 54:14Speaker 1: remember that. So now it makes a little bit.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Yeah. I just looked it up and apparently the temporary
- 54:21Speaker 2: capacity of Everbank is 42 and a half.
- 54:24Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't know we sold it out. That's pretty good.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Okay. So it was still a star. So.
- 54:30Speaker 2: All right.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Where's the next one we could take?
- 54:32Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 54:32Speaker 3: We could probably take care of Jets Titans pretty easily, right?
- 54:35Speaker 1: Yes. Because that one will be. That one's going to
- 54:38Speaker 1: be so quick. Brandon, take us home.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Why is he laughing already?
- 54:43Speaker 4: Take us home.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Because in the process of this, ever since I got
- 54:48Speaker 2: off of work, for reference, I literally got home 20
- 54:52Speaker 2: minutes before we started recording. And in the process, I
- 54:56Speaker 2: have a tendency to catch up on some of your
- 55:00Speaker 2: missed posts, missed social medias, missed sports things, what have you.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Because I work in an environment where I cannot have
- 55:06Speaker 2: my cell phone on my person, much less while I work.
- 55:11Speaker 2: And literally just a few minutes ago i'm over here
- 55:15Speaker 2: looking at this and i'm over here the jets are
- 55:20Speaker 2: some fucking demons man because i'm over here looking at
- 55:23Speaker 2: a play i'm gonna send this to you i'm gonna
- 55:25Speaker 2: send this in our discord too uh because i literally
- 55:28Speaker 2: just saw this that's why i started laughing um there
- 55:31Speaker 2: was an off there's this is oh five personnel okay
- 55:36Speaker 2: The Jets have five tight ends lined up in offense
- 55:40Speaker 2: against the Titans heading in the fucking red zone.
- 55:46Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 55:48Speaker 2: They are labeled off. Andrew Bag, Jelani Woods, Jeremy Rucker,
- 55:52Speaker 2: Mason Taylor, and you've got Kenyon Sudeikis in the backfield.
- 55:56Speaker 2: This man is running 0-5 personnel, five tight end wide
- 55:59Speaker 2: in the red zone. This man is a demon.
- 56:02Speaker 3: Wait, Aaron Glenn did that? This man is a demon.
- 56:12Speaker 3: I'd like to point out, we were all thinking the
- 56:13Speaker 3: Titans would win that game because we were thinking the
- 56:15Speaker 3: Jets were going to be terrible. Good God. Is Cam
- 56:19Speaker 3: Ward really that bad?
- 56:21Speaker 1: It could also be that Robert Sala is just not
- 56:25Speaker 1: that good of a head coach.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I mean, Brandon says that he doesn't trust Sala.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I don't. I really don't.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Ugh.
- 56:37Speaker 1: I'll be honest, I think that's the first time I've
- 56:39Speaker 1: ever seen 05 personnel.
- 56:46Speaker 3: That better not just be an Aaron Glenn.
- 56:52Speaker 2: Thing.
- 56:54Speaker 3: Anyway, the final score was just 23, Titans 10. It
- 56:57Speaker 3: didn't look pretty for the Titans at all. It probably
- 57:00Speaker 3: does self-explain a lot of things for the Titans regime,
- 57:03Speaker 3: but Not a good start for the Robert Sala 2.0 era,
- 57:08Speaker 3: especially against the team that fired him. Yeah.
- 57:13Speaker 1: So we got that game out of the way. Let's
- 57:16Speaker 1: go and talk about, because funnily enough, we actually left
- 57:20Speaker 1: all of my division still on the board for the
- 57:24Speaker 1: last three games of the 1-5 win streak. Which one
- 57:27Speaker 1: do we want to talk about? Do you want to
- 57:28Speaker 1: talk about Tampa?
- 57:29Speaker 3: Bucks-Bengals. Let's go Bucks-Bengals. That's like the one without the
- 57:33Speaker 3: most drama, per se.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Tampa Bay versus Cincinnati with the Bengals defense forcing four
- 57:44Speaker 1: turnovers of the Bucks.
- 57:48Speaker 3: That surprised me almost instantly because that's something you never
- 57:51Speaker 3: see out of a Bengals defense at all.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Baker Mayfield had butterfingers, man.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that was not... And remember, we said it, Brandon.
- 58:02Speaker 1: You and I both said it. We said Baker Mayfield
- 58:04Speaker 1: is not a $ 50 million a year quarterback.
- 58:07Speaker 2: He's not. He's worth some amount of money, but he's
- 58:11Speaker 2: definitely not worth 50 mil.
- 58:13Speaker 4: No, he's not.
- 58:14Speaker 1: If he's worth 50 mil, then I'm the next governor
- 58:17Speaker 1: of California.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Hey, don't you bring up that topic. Don't you dare
- 58:22Speaker 3: do that. Yeah, I mean.
- 58:25Speaker 4: Potato, potato on that one.
- 58:27Speaker 1: But no, I mean, it was very impressive by Cincinnati's defense.
- 58:36Speaker 1: I mean, the one Baker Mayfield fumble. And look, that one,
- 58:40Speaker 1: the fumble at the goal line or whatever, that one
- 58:42Speaker 1: is equal parts. Okay, great play by Cincinnati's defense. Equal parts. Okay, Baker,
- 58:51Speaker 1: we understand you're trying to put the Superman cape on.
- 58:55Speaker 1: But sometimes you gotta know when to just give yourself
- 58:59Speaker 1: up before the goal line.
- 59:05Speaker 3: I'm at a loss for words because it's like it
- 59:08Speaker 3: got close towards the end as well, but it's just
- 59:10Speaker 3: like we really became the comeback attempt later in the
- 59:13Speaker 3: game when we were just that behind I mean Joe
- 59:15Speaker 3: Burrow didn't have a good game either he had an
- 59:17Speaker 3: alright performance he had a touchdown he had a big
- 59:20Speaker 3: six mind you and the Bengals still.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Won by Josiah Trotter, no less, the Bucs rookie, who
- 59:27Speaker 1: apparently became the first player with a sack and a
- 59:32Speaker 1: pick six in his NFL debut.
- 59:35Speaker 3: So, all right.
- 59:37Speaker 1: I mean, Josiah Trotter, you were effective in your first
- 59:41Speaker 1: impression of NFL playing. As for the rest of your team,
- 59:47Speaker 1: I was not impressed by them. It really wasn't all
- 59:51Speaker 1: that great for Tampa. I mean, Because, you know, Cincinnati
- 59:55Speaker 1: just kept piling it on and piling it on. They
- 59:57Speaker 1: kept capitalizing on Tampa's mistakes, as good teams often do.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: Sorry, Nova. I had to throw it out there.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: I still don't believe Zach Taylor's a good coach, but
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: he's definitely the way everybody is. He can't save his job.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Um... But, yeah, I mean.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Also, can I just say, Reuben Bain, no sacks. Like,
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: is that a testament to how overhyped Reuben Bain is?
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Or is that how good the right tackle was for Cincinnati?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Brandon, you've been awfully conspicuous over there.
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: I think, like, are you.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Trying to stew over the Reuben Bain slander?
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: No, no, not particularly. I'm just kind of. I hyped
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: up Baker Mayfield a lot, and even though he had
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: a reasonable passing game, you know, if he doesn't fumble
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: three times, I think, you know, I think Tampa Bay
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: wins it. But three fumbles is crazy.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: And three fumbles is crazy.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: But.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: And look, I'll say this right now.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: If anybody listens to it, your survivor pools next week,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: if you're still alive next week is when you take Tampa.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Cause if Tampa doesn't beat the Cleveland Browns, then take
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: the biggest fricking pitch fork. You got in your garage
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: and stick it in a pirate flag. Cause that's how
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: cooked the bucks will be.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Okay, yeah. Okay, next up we have, this is the
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: game that shocked me the most, despite the result being
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: obviously correct for us. Lions Saints went to overtime.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Oh boy, where do I start with this one?
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: Where, oh where, oh where, oh where?
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: You just started with the controversial backwards pass that got
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: called off.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: I was going to say Jameer Gibbs is RB1, and
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I told you.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Nova, to answer your question, nope, that was legal. There
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: was no controversy there.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Yes, there is. It was the most thought-provoking thing about
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: that game besides the overtime.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: I think it was legal.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I think it was good on the referees.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Good call.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Tell us you're not a Falcons fan. I'm not saying
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: you're not a Falcons fan.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: But in all seriousness, yeah, I.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I got as confused as everybody else with the way
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: they were explaining it. I was like, wait, what?
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: Wait, wait a minute.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: So now the second a quarterback even so much as
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: picks his arm up, that's the throwing motion. Really?
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: I don't know about that one, Chief.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Really? Really? Yeah, I don't know about that one either.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: However, I also want to add that for some, I mean,
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: the Lions were up, I think, like, 24-7, if I remember,
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: and then the secondary gets just chopped up, like, throughout
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: the entirety of the end of the game.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they, it's like classic Big lead defense in a
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: fourth quarter. You just start playing like really soft zone coverage.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Don't really get into man all that much. And depending
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: on if the team has a decent quarterback, and I'm
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: still not sold on.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: Tyler Shuck, but I will say.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: The man.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Put up 410 in the air. What do you mean?
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: I know, man.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: The man is the NFL passing leader in the week
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: one with 410 yards. Granny had two pigs.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: But 400?
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Again, you didn't let me finish.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: I'm just going to jump. See, Brandon jumped you there.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: My bad.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Again, I'm still not sold on him yet, but in
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: the context of today's episode, the first impression was effective.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: He led his team against a really good Lions team.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: forced overtime against a really good Lions team. He made
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: some great passes. We talked about it, that Juwan Johnson
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: is a good tight end. When we had the debate about,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: name me a receiver on the Saints roster outside of
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Chris Olavi, because I forgot about Jordan Tyson being hurt.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: I'm completely honest. I forgot about that.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: But, yeah, I mean.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Outside of New Orleans defense still being Swiss cheese because,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I mean, it's the freaking Lions and the Lions, again,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Jameer Gibbs, Jared Goff, Amon Raw having that crazy catch
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: where he just bounced off of the Saints defender and
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: was right in the end zone was great. I will
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: say this, though. I liked the decision by Kellen Moore
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: in overtime, and I'm not saying it because the Saints lost.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I'm saying it was smart to go for two there.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: You had the momentum. You had the opportunity to pull
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: a rabbit out of your hat. And they tried taking it,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: and it just didn't work. It happens.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Yeah, no, you definitely go for two there.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: I think that's also a testament to how terrible these
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: new overtime rules are, to be honest, because you had
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: to go for two in order to win games, because
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure a lot of teams do not play
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: for the tie. And I'm going to be perfectly honest.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: I'm beginning to hate the new overtime rules. Which, by
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: the way, thank you, Buffalo, for that. I hate it.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Fuck Buffalo.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Fuck Buffalo.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: How many times do you have to loosen the cheese
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: to just make up the rules?
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you could kind of also thank Shannon
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Sharp for what he was saying, like him and Stephen
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: A and all of the talking heads, which again, when
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: we get to the Chiefs game, I'll be bringing up
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: a certain Chieftain to just really have fun with Brandon
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: on that game.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Sadly, I'll take off my headband and walk away.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: All right let's go to our final game when we
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: get the cover and actually this is what shocks me
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: the most in terms of like the context of the
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: score because Chicago Carolina um who had the Bears going
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: over by themselves.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Who had the Bears going over period.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Uh Danny Parkins did because He said during his Parkinson's picks,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: by the way, I know we were going to talk
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: about Nick Wright in a little bit. Nick Wright went
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: 0 for 3 on Nick's picks. Danny Parkinson's went 3
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: and 0 on Parkinson's picks.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Look, I'm just saying this reinforces the statement that I've
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: had that Nick Wright is a piece of human trash.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: He's a fucking moron.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: What's the off chance that he listens to this podcast?
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: What's he going to do, write me a scolding letter?
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: The man's trash. Why does he have a show? Anyway, continue.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: But yeah, Danny Parkins said it when he picked his games.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: He said that the Bears will score 30. The Bears
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: will score 35. They may even score 40. And Kevin
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Wilds actually said, come on, Danny, really?
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: 40?
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: But I mean, Ben Johnson said that he wants the
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Bears to have the highest scoring offense in NFL history,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: which would break the 2013 Denver Broncos is record.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Um, it's a tall claim.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: It's, it's a tall claim, but with that kind of
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: offensive firepower, you kind of have to believe that they
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: may be able to do it, but I should also
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: point this out. Every one of those highest scoring offenses
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: in NFL history.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Um, Brandon, uh, You can answer this question.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: I don't want to.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: What happened when the Patriots had the highest scoring offense
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: in NFL history?
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Some miracle rabbit out of a hatch helmet catch.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: No, I have a better question for you, Talon. What
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: about the 2013-14 Broncos squad?
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: They got absolutely eviscerated by the Legion of Boom. What
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: about the Atlanta Falcons in 2016? Yeah, what about the Falcons?
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: What about those Falcons, Talon? What about those Falcons? What
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: was that halftime score?
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Well, it sure as hell wasn't 28-3. It was 21-3,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: It was 21-3. you fucking morons on talking head shows.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: No, yeah, it was 28-3 because I distinctly remember flipping
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: my coffee table and letting Freeman score a touchdown right
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: into the third quarter. I was like, my coffee table
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: was on its side. I'm not going to lie. I
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: was really upset about that.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Guys.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: What do we have to say about the Panthers? It's
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: a Bryce Young ball doubt despite the 59.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: And also, before we get into that, I should also mention,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: it shows how much of a Pats fan Brandon is, Nova.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: He couldn't even correctly identify the Falcons running back that
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: caught that touchdown. It was Tevin Coleman.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't care. They both are the same fucking player. Anyway.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Yes, but now, Brandon, you are the Alabama fan here.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: You are the tide. You are the rolling of the tide.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: I'm also the Carolina resident.
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: You're also the Carolina resident. Let's hear you talk about.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Bryce.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: I'm too short to play quarterback young.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I mean, I stand by what I said. He's definitely
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: too short to play quarterback. No, I know I remember
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: saying that if Bryce Young could continue, to demonstrate the
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: improvements that he had towards the back half of last
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: league year, that he would continue to improve and he
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: would be great. But 23 for 37, 361 passing yards,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: three TDs and a pick. I mean, even though he
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: had a pick, that's still a very impressive performance. At
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: the same time, I did also was like, hey, Panthers
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: training camp, Him and Jalen Coker has already started to
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: develop a really good relationship. Eight receptions, 138 receiving yards,
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: two TDs on nine targets. That sounds like a pretty
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: good relationship to me.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: It just sucks that they had to go against the
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: high flying Chicago Bears offense. That performance wins Panthers games,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: except against the Chicago Bears, apparently.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Well, see, here's the thing is I was I was
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: working my LGS during the Panthers game and we had
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: it on the TV. Because majority of my local game
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: store are Carolina fans. So I was like, yeah, sure,
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: we'll watch it. We get to watch some football while
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: I sit here and do absolutely nothing. So I'm absolutely
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: okay with this. And honestly, it was a close game.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: It really was. And for about 70, 75% of the game,
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: it was fairly neck and neck. It was definitely shoot
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: out here, shoot out here, shoot out there. It was fine.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: And then the Panthers defense just gave up. They just
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: quit playing. And next thing you know, you've got DeAndre
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Swift with 18 carries for 124 and three scores. Kyle,
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: whatever the heck his last name is, because I'm not
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: going to embarrass myself.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Yeah, sure.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: 10 carries, 100 yards in the TD. And then Caleb
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Williams over here with 269 through the air. And then
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: he has two rushing touchdowns of his own. So I'm
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: sitting here like, what happened, Carolina? What happened?
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Defense.exe has stopped working. That's what happened.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: The EXE definitely turned into more of a JPEG, honestly,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: because they were just like still frame. It was a
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: very good game to begin with. It had every definition
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: of what somebody would classify as a shootout. I was like, damn,
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: this Carolina team actually looks kind of impressive until they
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: did it.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: And yeah, that concludes the early slate of the games.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and take a look at the next game.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Well, hold on. Talon, what did you think about it
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: since they're one of your rivals?
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Um.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: I mean, it's Carolina. It's Bryce Young.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: He's probably going to have a field day next week
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: because he loves playing Atlanta.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: Um....
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: I really wonder how Atlanta's defense is going to hold
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: up against Ted McMillan and Jalen Coker with the way
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: those two were playing.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to leave that there. So let's move
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: over to the afternoon slate. And let's just take care
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: of the first thing that probably is going to be
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: the most forgettable thing in the schedule, or depending on
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: how you view at it. Dolphins Raiders at Allegiant Stadium
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: in Las Vegas, Nevada. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Sure.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Oh, wait.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Am I supposed to say something about this game now?
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Yes!
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: You volunteered. You got things to say about Kirk Cousins?
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Oh, you mean old Kirko Chains out there in Vegas?
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: I mean, well, he hit 301 touchdowns for his career.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: So.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: So there's that.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: I mean, he passes John Elway on that list, by
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: the way.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Passes John Elway on that list. And two of his
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: passes went to Ashton Gentry. So I think all of the, uh,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: brouhaha about Gentry being picked first overall can be quelled
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: for at least one week, even though it's one of
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: the stupidest first overall picks I think I've ever seen. Um,
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: I think the most impressive thing about this is that
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Brock Bowers wasn't in this game.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: So yeah, you gotta love how we have our recordings.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: And then the days after we're recording injury updates just
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: happened first to a talk of my law. Now Brock Bowers.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Um, and then, I mean, it's the dolphins. They got
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: a roster. That's so more abundant. The university of Miami
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: would have given the Raiders a better challenge for If
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: you ask me, they're the team in the Southeast portion
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: of Florida. That should be the NFL team right now
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: with the way the dolphins are, uh, the way the dog.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: They're, they're not good.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, I saw this stat that
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: was so asininely crazy.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: It's not even funny.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Apparently the dolphins are, have more money being paid to
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: players that are not on their roster right now, then
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: they actually are paying their current roster.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: That goes to show you how much of a disaster
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: of a general manager, 10 year, Chris Freer had in
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: the dolphins and how this new dolphin scene is just
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: trying to do everything they can to just weather the
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: storm and clear fruit at.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Um, Brandon, anything to say about the Dolphins that.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: We don't want to read? Um, the Dolphins suck. Um, Ashton,
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: GT is good. Kirk Cousins is incredibly mid.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Um, he made history though.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: Yeah. If I play as long as Kirk Cousins did,
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: I might fucking do something with it too. Um, that's
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: like saying LeBron James is now the longest playing player
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: in NBA history because the man just won't fucking retire. Um,
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: It's a hot take. How about two of them might
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: have actually been the person holding this Miami team together
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: because they looked awful.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: I don't think it's the worst take I've heard.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: No, it's not the worst thing.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: At least they put up points with two. I give
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: them that much.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: Actually, you know what? I'm subjective to this, Brandon. Since
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: you hate LeBron so much, let's bring up the Philadelphia
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Eagles against the Washington Commanders for you to start with.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: Let's do that.
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: Why have you got to do that to me?
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: You fed it to me on a silver platter.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: I mean, that's incredibly valid. That's incredibly valid. Also, shout
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: out Jalen Hurts for fantasy. I mean, it's crazy because
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts, Bijan, Derek Henry, all the same roster. Gotta
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: love it. Jalen Hurts looked kind of rough against the
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: commander's defense. I mean, stat line doesn't really show that
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: much looking at it on paper. 14 for 25, two
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: or three and three scores. It was a good game.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: It really was. You know, they scored five touchdowns, you know,
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: offensive touchdowns.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: No, six.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Am I counting right? I don't know. No, they scored
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: six total offensive touchdowns between the two teams. I guess
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: not to offend Jaden Daniels.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: But Saquon, I mean, the game was, the game started
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: out kind of, you know, very defensive, grindy. Washington took
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: an early 3-0 lead, and then Philadelphia was kind of like, hey,
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: here we are. Congratulations. Jaden Daniels tries to recover. I
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: don't know. It was just a very, very NFC-type game.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: I also got to bring this up as well, because
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: during one of Jaden Daniels' touchdown passes, you know about
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: Stephon Dix siding with the Commanders. He He got the
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: touchdown and then gets immediately flagged for Esports like Honda
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: just seconds later.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds about right, man. Also, it was targeted
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: nine times and only caught four of them. So, yeah,
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: go fuck yourself, Stefano.
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: That's why I think we lost to Commandos this game. Also,
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: the freaking pitch inside for the two-point conversions. that they
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: had to delay because of stefan diggs messed them up
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: and that's oh yeah shocker yeah shocker yeah i'm for
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: i'm for really blaming stefan diggs.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: For the loss oh yeah no i was very glad
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: that we got rid of stefan diggs because that man's
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: just a fucking diva He thinks he's WR1 because of
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: how well he did in Buffalo when he was realistically
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: their only decent target. But, no, he's WR3. No, sorry, WR2. 5
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: at the best, probably.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: All right, so we have talent yet to say anything
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: about this, so go at it.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Well, Jaden Daniels wasn't horrible.
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: In this game. He wasn't bad.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: But he wasn't good.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: No, he wasn't good. Dallas Goddard had a hell of
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: a catch on, I think that was a fourth down,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: wasn't it? Or was it a third down where it
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: was like Washington sent the house and Hurts threw to
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Goddard and it was like he, he did. Now he
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: did one of the slowest spin moves I've ever seen,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: but he still somehow managed to get like a 36
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: yard touchdown from it. So I'm, I mean, look, it
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: was the commanders. We're not really expecting much.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Out of them this season, but I, I expect a
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: little bit out of them. I mean, just cause they
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: have gotten better over the years. But to kind of clarify,
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: I did pull the play up that you were talking about.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: It was third and six at the Washington 43. And
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: it was a 43 yard good air touchdown.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: Wait, did I mishear that? Did you say Dallas Goddard?
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: That is not how I did not. Oh, my God. Oh,
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: my God. Financiation stuff.
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Periodic. I'm going to do that just to bother you
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: now until you watch an episode of Spongebob.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Yes, hopefully band geeks, right, Brandon? Hopefully band geeks.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Get some culture in your soul.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: Yes, I am successful. But no, yeah, it was 36
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: at the Washington 43, and it was a shotgun snap
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: for a touchdown. Yeah.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Look, I'll say this, though. That two-point conversion was probably
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: one of the stupidest two-point conversions I've ever seen.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: It wasn't good.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: And again, I reiterate this. I blame Stefan Diggs for
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: that one.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: I can blame Stefan Diggs for a lot.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: You want to go next, Alan?
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: Let's move on and talk about Oh, my God.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I can't believe we have to talk about this game.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: How did the freaking Chargers lose to the Cardinals?
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Give me this one. Oh, my God. I can never
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: be as much disappointed as I am with a local product.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: That is the Los Angeles Chargers. We all thought they
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: were going to win by a lot. Well, well, wait
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: a minute.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Wait a minute.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: As you guys remember, I said when we did the
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: picks that any time a spread is reaching two scores
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: or double digits, I hate those kind of spreads because
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: it screams trap. And I was right on that part.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: Let me tell you how much of a trap that
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: was because, holy God.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't care that I picked Cleveland to cover
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: eight and a half against Jacksonville, though.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we let you escape with that one.
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: Okay, but like continuing on, how do you let the
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Cardinals do that? I mean, the defense, I think this
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: is really just a testament to how bad the defense
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: is for the Chargers without Jesse Minter. Is this just
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: like a depiction of how not improved his offensive line
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: is for the Chargers or how Justin Herbert has suddenly
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: become one of the more sack heavy quarterbacks in league history?
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: Or is this just like the Cardinals saying, okay, we're
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: going to try to shut everyone up about us.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Also, yes. Also, To touch on your note, I actually
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: saved a tweet just for that particular stat you just
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: put out there, Nova. Justin Herbert has been sacked 241
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: times in 99 career games for the Chargers.
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: Which is more than Andrew Luck. I know that tweet.
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: And yeah, as a reference point, Andrew Luck was sacked
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: 185 times in 94 games for the Colts. So five
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: fewer games. 241 times versus 185. That's a lot of injury.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: You hearing this, Talon?
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: I'm hearing it.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: And not only that, not only all of that, the
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: receiver group, where did his offense go? We were all
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: thinking Mike McDaniel was going to fix the offense for
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: the Chargers, and they only got two touchdowns, and Clyde
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: McConkie got hurt.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: I mean, they're trying to fix the receiver room because
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: earlier today the Chargers signed Valdez-Gantling. Ah!
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: Does that mean Lann McConkie is going to be out
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: next week?
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: It's not a good sign for him, though.
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: Oh my god. But yeah, congrats to the Cardinals for
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: winning the rare game that you wanted to shut everyone up.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: Congrats on the Super Bowl.
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: Because Trayvon Bryan and Jeremiah Love both impressed super well.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, can... Congrats to the Cardinals on a game that
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: I don't... I just don't have any more words about
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: that game.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Actually, I do have words because isn't the Chargers schedule
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: brutal now?
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: Something like that.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: Because they have an eight-week stretch where it's all playoff
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: caliber opponents.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Raiders, Bills, Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs, Rams, Texans, Ravens. Jesus! Jesus Christ.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: Yeah, they've got a really rough stretch coming up. Except for,
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: you know, Cleveland, I think I heard.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: Mike McDaniel, you've got to spin the ship quickly. You failed. Yeah.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: But let's talk about the last game of the 4
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: o'clock window, and well.
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: If I, I'll use the line, guys.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: If I had a nickel for every time the Green
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: Bay Packers blew a double-digit lead to their opponent in
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: their division.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: And the game was in their opponent or their division
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: opponent's home stadium.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: You'd have three.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I'd have three nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: weird that it's happened thrice.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I can let you take it. I had enough ranting.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: What the fuck happened, Green Bay? Like, did Matt LaFleur...
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: And you know what? I'm going to do the... I
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: know he hates doing it. I know he hates it
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: when Stephen A does it, but I'm going to do it.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Matt LaFleur. Matt LaFleur. Yeah. You ain't got no LaFleur.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Your brother has it out there in Arizona, but you
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: are LaFleur.
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: You're Matt LaFleur.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Is the dude trying to get fired?
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Yes. I.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: I don't know because it's like, and I'm going to
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: throw this out because I know we brought them up
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: a little earlier in the show. Matt LaFleur was on
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: that 2016 Falcons coaching staff.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: It's amazing how every coach on that staff.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Especially when they have a good team. They play great
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: for three quarters. And then the fourth quarter shows up.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: How do you... How do you lead by 12? Your
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: player gets a quote unquote, a little dirty with the
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: hit on Kyler Murray that knocks Kyler Murray loopy and
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: out of the game.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: How do you let Carson Wentz do all that?
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Again, you were up by 12 and you lost by 17. How?
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: I'm just, I'm just saying personal experience here. Don't sleep
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: on Carson Wentz.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Oh, I know we shouldn't, but here's your problem. He's
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: regressed since the Philadelphia fans ran him out of town
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: and the same thing happened when he got ran out
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: of Indianapolis.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: 12 for 19, 133 and three touchdowns. Kind of says
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: that he's probably not regressed as much as we think
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: he has.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: As out there, he sacrificed his body to the Chargers
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: last year.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: I also got sacked three times for 19 yards in
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: the same game too. And, that means, you know.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Also, fun fact.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: Fun fact, the Vikings apparently had the highest defensive blitz
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: percentage this week because out of 67 plays they ran
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: on defense, they blitzed on 55 of them.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: That's the Brian Flores experience for you, Brandon.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: Correct, it is. That's 82.1% for you math junkies out there.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: Okay, and I want to go back to what I
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: was alluding to in the earlier episodes. I firmly believe
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: the Packers will finish last in the NFC North, and
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: this just solidifies why I think that's going to happen. Uh-huh.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: You don't sound convinced. I mean.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I think it'll be a lot more tougher of a division,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: but with no Micah Parsons on that defense, it's amazing
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: at how bad Micah Parsons less defenses are.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: That's what I'm trying to tell you guys. Yeah.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: I'd stand by what I said.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Okay, buddy. Well, go watch the previous episodes. If you
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: wish to find out what Brandon said about Micah Parsons.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think all that remains now is the
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Sunday night football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: New York football giants. And before we say anything about
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: this game, because we have our thoughts about this game,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say, God damn, is Carrie
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Underwood still fucking great for the Sunday Night Football anthem?
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: My God, was that awesome.
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: I think we can bring Brandon to take this.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: I don't like country music, so I can't. I have
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: a very biased opinion on that one. I have seen
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: her live before, though, so that's accidental, I guess. I
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: don't know. She was good. She was good when I
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: saw that. I'm just not a fan of country music.
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: Nor am I. Nor am I.
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: First of all.
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Go ahead. Go ahead.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: No, I wanted to do a little thing here because Pep,
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: I'm not buying into country music.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: I mean, yeah. Choosing Texas is a good song. You
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: are not going to get me into country music, Pep.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Just know that.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: So first of all, before we continue, I kind of
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: lost track of time because we kind of glanced over. Well,
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: not really glanced over. The Arizona Cardinals game. I was
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: told by one of my buddies one of my Pokemon
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: VG buddies his name is Tim that I owed him
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: a public apology for shitting all over him about the
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Arizona Cardinals because I did tell him that I thought
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: they would get shit on and this man messages me
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: on the 13th at 8.37pm and goes Arizona Cardinals.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: That's all.
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: I said, you know what?
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: He goes, I was not expecting to win this. He goes,
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: I was hoping we would just be competitive and try
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: our best. He goes, but we actually look pretty good today.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: He's like, I expect the formal apology in your podcast
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: to be personally. So, Tammy, I am sorry.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: The sign of a good man is one who admits
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: his flaws.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Speaking of admitting a flaw, the New York Giants, I
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: had a take in, what was it, week two?
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: Week three? Yeah, I think it was.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Somewhere around week two. I had a take that the
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: Giants would go 0-17. Because I had very little faith
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: in a team that had been injury riddled as they
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: were towards the end of last season. And also the
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: fact of the syndrome that a lot of teams team
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: seem to catch whenever they have a new head coach
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: rotate into their system, regardless of how experienced or tenure
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: that coach may be, there's always a down season for
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: the most part. And that's what I fully anticipated here
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: was more so on the injury side than anything. And
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: also because of how poorly I had seen John Harbaugh
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: coach for Baltimore, um, in the last few seasons before
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: he left. Um, Yeah, so to my former roommate, Tyler,
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: I also owe him an apology because he was like, damn, man,
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: you really had that little faith in us? I was like,
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: I did. I honestly did. As I sit here and
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: watch Jackson Dart decimate that Dallas secondary 23 for 29,
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: 230 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Also with
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: 11 carries for 54 yards himself. That game was just
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: some good old downright smash-mouth football by the New York Giants.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: As I sat there and watched that game, and I
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: watched that clock hit zero, and they snapped that ball
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: multiple times. They milked the hell out of that ball.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: That defense, though, also made Dak Prescott look like a bitch.
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: And I want to remind you that Jackson Dart is
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: now 2-0 against Dak Prescott.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Also, and I'm over here because, again, while we're over
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: here going in between games, I'm over here looking through
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: stats on social media and stuff like that. 20 free
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: for 39, 79.3% completion, 230 passing, 59 rushing, three scores,
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: no picks, 134.2 passer rating in the new John Harbaugh era. Also,
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: giant rookie guard in his NFL debut, 36 pass-blocking snaps.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: Zero pressures allowed. Zero QB hits. First rookie since 2018
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: to record more than 35 pass blocking snaps in week
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: one without even allowing a pressure.
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: That is insane. And a great pick for the Giants
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: in the draft.
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: That is a great. Also, apparently that game. was also
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: the most watched week one Sunday night football game since 2015.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: Because the Giants-Cowboys game brought in 25.7 million viewers.
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: All for that to see America's team lose again.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: I love it. And guess why?
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: Because it's like Matt Everfloos never left.
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: It's like he never left. Because if you guys remember
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: the Patriots-Rams Super Bowl, the only touchdown of that Super
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Bowl that had came from the Patriots' Sonny Michel, it
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: was a string of plays that was the literal same
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: play in no huddle snaps that the Rams just could
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: not stop that eventually ended up with us going into
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: the red zone off of a post route from Gronk, right?
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: That's very similar to what Jackson, Dart, and the Giants
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: did to Dallas on the drive. It's just cool. Same play,
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: same play, same play, same play. And Dallas just could
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: not do anything to stop it. I don't know what
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: happened to that Dallas defense, but they looked like crap.
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: I mean, you're going to let Jackson dart, who, to
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: be fair, I did think was a good QB coming
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: out of the draft. But that man has just continued
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: to impress. Like, I think, as of now, this is
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: an initial first impression that I think is incredibly effective.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: This Giants team looks really good. They just need to
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: get rid of, and I'll die on this hill too,
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: because I mentioned this one as well. They need to
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: get rid of Tyrone Tracy. That man cannot hang on
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: to the fucking football to save his life. Also, and
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: this one might ruffle Noah's feathers a little bit. From
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: my old roommate, Tyler, and I quote in a Facebook message,
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: I don't understand how Isaiah Likely was never the starter
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: over Mark Andrews because Isaiah Likely is the far better
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: tight end in the NFL league.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: See, this is the role of my fetter system. And
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: I was actually upset by this because, you know, the
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: regime at Baltimore when Harbaugh was the coach, he always
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: had Mark Andrews above Isaiah Likely, which honestly annoyed me
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: when Mark Andrews choked that playoff game against Buffalo. But
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: it just upsets me.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: Because I'm sitting over here going like Isaiah likely had
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: a hell of a game to eight receptions, 78 yards,
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: two scores, didn't drop a single pass. He called everything
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: that was thrown his way.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: And all I got to do left is wait for
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: the moment. John Harbaugh chokes again, because that's all I
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: can think of right now.
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: I don't know if they keep if they keep this
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: up and they keep playing this type of smash mouth football,
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: you know, and just kind of, you know, nose to
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: the grindstone. this might actually be a really good Giants
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: team because the time of possession, 36 minutes and 40
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: seconds for the Giants versus 23 minutes for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: They played that clock management very well.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Oh, they definitely played that clock management well. And again,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: you guys were talking about it with the Giants offense
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: and the Dallas defense being like in mid-season form. It
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: says a lot about a team when you run the
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: exact same play four straight times and they... still can't
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: stop you.
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: Again, I said it before and I'll say it again.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: It's like Matt Everfloof never left.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you want to know the best part
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: about that game? What is it? Well, maybe a little
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: bit him, but no, my parents are Cowboys. My parents
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: are Cowboys fans.
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: Oh, man, that's like you should have taken a chick
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: in the parking lot.
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: Yeah, so my.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Mom said she turned the game off when Dak Prescott
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: threw that interception, which, in all fairness, that interception at
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: the end of the first half, what are you doing, man?
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: You were already out of the pocket because the play
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: broke down. Don't throw the Herculean ball off your back.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: But that is a secondary, for lack of a better
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: reference or comparison, that's like a hanging curveball in baseball.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: I mean, Brandon, you played youth ball growing up, right?
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: I speak for both of us. And I mean, Nova,
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: did you ever play youth ball?
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: No.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: Okay. Then I speak for Brandon and I, when I
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: say this, I, I speak for Brandon. When I, when
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: I say this, Brandon, how many times did you have
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: a kid that you were playing against? And he just
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: threw that, that low or that high hanging curve ball.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: And your eyes just widened. Cause you're like, fuck. Yes, man.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: You're just like, this is a wet dream, and you
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: just smack the shit out of that thing.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Yeah. That is basically what that pass by Dak Prescott was,
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: because it was just bad.
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: It was just bad.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: And then stupid-ass Javante Williams, man. You're down 14, and
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: you score a touchdown, and And you taught the Giants player.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: So you make it harder for Brandon Aubrey, who, what
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: happened with him, man? I mean, like Brandon Aubrey was
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: essentially the next Justin Tucker for the most, for like
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: the last couple of years where it was like, and again,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: I know, I know it's bad to say his name,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: you know, a little bit of, a little bit negative
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: for Nova, but I mean, Nova can attest to it.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: Anytime he saw number nine go out on that field,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: he was like, well, here's three points.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: No, that was not true towards the later end of
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: that period. I'll be real.
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: I said for the most part.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Okay. But yeah, I'm a little disappointed in Brandon Aubrey.
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: I had him in fantasy and he barely did anything.
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: And I had Harrison Mevis. He barely did anything either.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: Well, that's because the Dallas offense barely did anything because
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: Aubrey only had three attempts at an extra point and
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: he went two for three. So I'm just like, eh,
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: he didn't even attempt a field goal because they couldn't
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: because that Giants defense bottled them.
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's an estimate of how good John
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: Harbaugh can lead a defense. Again, I'm merely just waiting
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: for the moment he chokes again. That way we finally
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: bring up the John Harbaugh camp close games excuse.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: Oh, man, I'm honestly low-key hoping this kind of continues
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: because the Giants really did look impressive. I hate the
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: Giants and what they did to us in two Super Bowls,
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: but they really looked impressive. And honestly, I think they've
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: had it a long time coming because Eli Manning was
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: a dogshit quarterback.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I mean, but I will also throw this out here, though,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: before we get to our last game of week one.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: This was a weird stat that I saw because we
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: just talked about.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: Baseball, Brandon.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: Apparently, this year is the first time the Giants and
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: the Jets both won in week one since 2009. Do
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: you remember what happened in 2009, Brandon?
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: I graduated high school.
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: I was in eighth grade.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: But 2009 was the last time the New York Yankees
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: won the World Series. Boo. So, some New York fans
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: are out there going, it's the Yankees year because history
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: is repeating itself again.
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: Pump the brakes.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: Because.
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: Right now, and again.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: We can talk about the last game in a second,
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: but small tangent, it feels like it's Tampa Bay's to
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: lose right now because they are fucking hot. I disagree.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: I think the Saints can win the South.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: I'm talking about the Rays, not the Bucs.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: Okay, I got lost in the South. That's cool.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: Yeah, we talk about baseball, brother.
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: I got lost in the South. I guess, to be fair,
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: the Tampa Bay Rays are pretty good.
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: I mean, they have one of the best records in
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: MLB right now, if not the best record.
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: And Junior Caminero just hit another walk-off home run as
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: of the time of our recording.
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: Oh, cool.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Can anybody beat the Dodgers? Your answer is probably going
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: to be no.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. Dodgers are absolutely vulnerable. No, they're not.
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: They're going to win the World Series again. They're going
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: to have to repeat. Brother.
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: My brother in Christ. No.
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: Yes, they will.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: We're going to have to do a wellness check, Brandon,
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: on Nova if the Dodgers don't win the World Series.
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: Look, as soon as I want to care about baseball,
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: I can finally care about it again because Artie Moreno
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: finally sold the Angels. I've only been able to care
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: about the Dodgers because they're everywhere in my newsfeed until
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: Artie Moreno selling the team thing.
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: Brother, y'all can't even beat the Braves. What are you doing?
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: How am I winning the World Series?
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: They've done this before, especially last year.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: All right. But let's get into the last game of
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: week number one. And did any of us say that
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: the Denver Broncos were going to look as abysmal as
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: they did in this game?
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: No, no, I did not. And I didn't even watch
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: it because I was stuck in college.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I watched that game, and I was like, what
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: the fuck, Denver?
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: I just have one statement to make before y'all take
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: this away with the game breakdown, okay? I just have
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: one statement to make. Well, two, technically, but mainly just one.
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: Fuck you, Kenneth Walker. The man had more rushing yards
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: than the entire Broncos offense. Maybe give or take a
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: few yards, but you know, anyway, carry on.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: I mean, look, look, I, I already said my fantasy
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: thoughts on that one because I started Kyle Pitts over
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: Dalton Kincaid and Kenneth Walker single-handedly helped my brother barely
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: beat me. Literally the final score of my brothers in
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: my game. I will say it right now. I had 129.46 points.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker got into a buck 31.
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: That is.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: Actually insane.
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: That's tough.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: So fuck me with that.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: Also, the whole offense thing. Remember when Davis Webb was
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: being hyped up as the next offensive guru for the
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: NFL and that just happened?
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Uh, yeah, I remember that.
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Sean Payton might need to take back clay calling duties.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: Sean Payton. There were times I was watching the game
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: and it looked like he was doing on the sideline.
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Cause he was just like, I want to be calling
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: these plays so bad right now. And he didn't.
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: And welcome back. Mo picks.
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: I'm just saying, apparently, allegedly, and I say this allegedly
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: because this is an alleged statement. Let me repeat this. Allegedly,
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: Jalen Waddle was so upset by the lack of targets
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: and Bo Nix's poor performance that he, at some point
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: in time in the huddle, apparently called Bo Nix Tua.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: Oh my gosh! Oh my god, no way.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: If that's true, that's hilarious. Again, allegedly. If that's true,
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: that's hilarious.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: That is great.
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: Love it.
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: Welcome back, Mopix.
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: And y'all thought, and people thought this man would deserve
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: to be in the Super Bowl over us? Go fuck yourself.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: You would have gotten smashed by the Seahawks too, it's fine.
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: Nah, they probably would have pulled out the four-quarter comeback
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: deal again.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Nova's probably right there. But, yeah, I mean,
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: I did not anticipate this game going the way that
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: it did.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: And... No, not at all.
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: No, none of us did.
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: Let's be real.
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: None of us did. It's not just you.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: None of us did. But also, apparently Patrick Mahomes as
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: the first touchdown was plus 2000. And he was the
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: first touchdown.
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: Mid, am I right? Yeah, absolutely. I'll die on that hill.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Wait a minute. I need to do my Nick
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: Wright impersonation for Brandon. Because, you know, where's my banner here?
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: Looking for the eject button on this podcast right now
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: from a talent seat.
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going to be playing Among Us.
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: He is the imposter. I didn't think Patrick Mahomes even
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: looked that good. I mean, to be fair, the Broncos,
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: the Broncos defense looked like shit, but at the same time,
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: none of us expected the Broncos defense to look as
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: bad as they did.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, look, I think, I think it's
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: safe to say that we would have been like, we
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: would have been fine. The chiefs have won the game,
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: but it was like, you know, 24 to 20 or
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: something like that.
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: Not 31 to 10.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: Right. Because, like, all right, so, like, look at it
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: this way, right? In terms of, like, an offensive performance,
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: the Broncos could not stop the run game. They couldn't.
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker, 8, showed why he was the Super Bowl MVP, right?
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes had 184 passing yards. He took two sacks
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: for 12 yards. That gave him 172 total offensive passing yards, right?
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: Can we agree on that number?
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker had 173 rushing yards. mathematically, he had one
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: more rushing yard than Mahomes had a passing yard.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say, Patrick Mahomes didn't have
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: a good passing game, but the Chiefs still won. They
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: fixed their running back issues.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the Denver defense showed that they
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: forgot how to play football.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I mean, the other thing, though, is that the Denver defense, like.
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: Didn't he miss 28 tackles?
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: And that's what I was going to get at Nova.
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: This kind of tackling infuriates me. I get that we
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: all play Madden. I get that.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: I don't play Madden. Okay.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: Oh my. Oh my goodness.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: To add on to that, apparently Bo Nix can't hold
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: on to the fucking football because he fumbled three times
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: But getting back to it, yeah, look, I understand that
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: we play Madden.
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: We love the hit stick.
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: We love forcing a fumble against a computer and then
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: get pissed off when we can't do it against our
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: friends all the time.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: I'm scared for the INTs. I don't know what y'all
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: are playing.
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: That's why I'm not playing, so you can't tell me.
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: But my God, man.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: These guys were bouncing off of Chiefs players and not
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: wrapping them up like they were a fucking pinball machine. Like,
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: what the hell? Why are you just putting the shoulder,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: wrap somebody, and put them in the ground?
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: 248 yards allowed from missed tackles alone. Highest single game
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: total recorded in next-gen stats era.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, man.
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: Man, I mean, that was a pick we didn't think
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: would be terribly wrong, and we have one last thing
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: to do. I guess, like, now that we've gone through
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: all the games, how did we do in our predictions? Oh, yes.
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: On the predictions.
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: Rub it in.
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: Well, I mean, here's the thing.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: I kept putting the numbers in, and then I was saying, oh, yeah,
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: Brandon won the week. And then I was like, oh, wait, no.
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: Nova won the week.
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: Oh, wait, no.
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: Nova and Brandon won the week. And then I realized
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: I can't do fucking math.
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: Join the club, buddy. Join the club. But.
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: I will do this. Unfortunately, wait, do we have one?
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: Oh, we do.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: The winner of week one picks with a nine and
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: seven record is Nova.
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: Thank you, Chicago.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: And then right behind him is me and Brandon.
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: We both went 500 this week.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: Again, thank you, Chicago, for the historical Master Classicist Carolina.
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you, Chicago, for that one.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and preview week two.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: Let's do that. We will start with the Thursday night game.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Detroit Lions at the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: Hmm. At New Highmark Stadium.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: And according to the weather report, 73 degrees with thunderstorms.
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: Oh, we have a rain delay.
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: Detroit. Detroit.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: Brandon's not even giving it a second thought. He is
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: going with the Lions.
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: Nah, Detroit's playing with a chip on their shoulder. They're saying,
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: what the fuck did we do against New Orleans, Detroit?
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: Nova, what do you got?
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: See, here's my thought process. You know, both Detroit and
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: Buffalo played horribly close games. I mean, I think it's
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: more telling of Detroit playing close to the Saints because, like,
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: I don't know if I should be high on the
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: Saints or low on the Lions. And with the Bills,
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: it's still just Josh Allen, the team. So it's just like,
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: what happens more? Josh Allen torching the Lions secondary or
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: Detroit getting their act together against a really suspect Bills defense?
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: That's where I'm stuck. But if I had to take
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: a guess, I... As much as I hate this, I
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: think Buffalo wins.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: Honestly, with this game, I mean, I think just because
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: it's the new stadium christening and usually a new stadium,
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: teams usually do well in because it's the first time
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: and they're having all of this hype and glamour. Add
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: in the fact that it's a Thursday night football and... Yeah,
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: I'm going Buffalo. I'm going Buffalo this game.
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: And here's the thing. I'm not picking Detroit not because
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: I don't think they're bad. I just don't trust the
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: secondary because, like, you know, as much as Talon wants
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: to keep trash-talking the Saints, I don't think the Saints
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: should have played that close to the Lions. And I
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: have a really strong feeling Josh Allen's going to go
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: God mode again.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to go that far, but I do
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: think this game will be....
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: I think it'll be closer than people give it credit for.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it will be. It will be. It'll never
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: shoot out.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: I mean, odds makers have it at 54 and a
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: half for the total.
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: I think it's going over. All right.
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: Well, let's move on to the Sunday games because unfortunately
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: we don't have a Wednesday, Thursday, then Sunday, Monday. We
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: have Thursday, Sunday, Monday, and the first game is Atlanta
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: and Carolina.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: Carolina by a mile. Wow.
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: Where is this at? Is this at Bank of America?
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: This is at Atlanta.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: As much as I want to give Atlanta credit, the
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: fact that their quarterback battle is not great, I have
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: to give it to Carolina.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: Can I ask you guys an honest question before I
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: make my pick?
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: If Cooper Rush is still your quarterback, it's Carolina by
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: three scores. If it's Jack Stroud, I say maybe two scores.
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: Jack Stroud, get it right.
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: I'm doing this intentionally to piss off Nova.
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: Differentiation.
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: No, but the question that I had for you guys was,
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: do I have the right to change my pick depending
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: on who the actual starter is?
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: I guess in your context, sure.
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: I'll give you that flexibility. I'll give you that flexibility
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: because y'all shit so up in the air right now.
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: Okay, I'll say this. If it's Cooper Rush Carolina, if
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: it's any other quarterback Atlanta.
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: That's generous.
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: I do want to believe in Jack Strand, but if
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: it's not him, I don't see it.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: I mean, people forget Michael Penix has played the Carolina
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: Panthers three times in his career, and two of those
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: games were in Atlanta. The first time, he lost in
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: overtime and never got to touch the ball. That was
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: the 44-38 shootout game. The second game was in Carolina.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: We don't talk about that game.
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: Oh, no, we do.
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: We do.
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: No, we don't.
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: No, we don't.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: But the third game was Atlanta was up 21 to
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: nothing when Elijah Wilkinson cost Michael Penix his season. And
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: then Atlanta lost.
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: And then Atlanta lost.
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: Also, how about Atlanta's currently favored to win this game
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: at 55%?
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: That's the ultimate disrespect.
- 1:58:08Speaker 4: But yeah, Carolina's the favorite.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: No, Brandon said that Atlanta's the favorite. What do you mean?
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: No, Atlanta's the favorite. According to ESPN's site, Atlanta is
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: the favorite.
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: See, to me, that's the ultimate disrespect. Because didn't you see? Wait,
- 1:58:25Speaker 3: what game did you see?
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. What game did they watch and
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: what game did they watch for Carolina? Matchup predictor has 55.2% Atlanta.
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: Okay, but the DraftKings odds opened Atlanta minus one and
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: a half. It's now Carolina minus two and a half. Yeah.
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: So we got some 50-50s going on here.
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: I think, look, Carolina's defense is as bad as it is.
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: A good quarterback can expose them, but I don't think
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: that's happening, personally speaking.
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so I reserve the right to change my pick
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: depending on who the starter is. But for the sake
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: of this, I will pick Atlanta. But if it's Cooper
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Rush starting, it's Carolina.
- 1:59:14Speaker 3: Okay, I got Jason next one. Let's do Vikings Bears.
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: Chicago.
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: It's not even close.
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: Yeah, no. Chicago is going to molly whop Minnesota.
- 1:59:27Speaker 2: No, I think it might be close. And it's at
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: Soldier Field.
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: Sure.
- 1:59:31Speaker 3: I'll give you that one. I'm picking Chicago as well,
- 1:59:33Speaker 3: but I think it'll be a close game. If Carson
- 1:59:39Speaker 3: gets the ball out of the way, he did against
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: the Green Bay Panthers.
- 1:59:42Speaker 4: Look, I'll say it'll be closer than the Panthers game.
- 1:59:46Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: But yeah, no. I mean, it really just comes down
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: to your definition of close.
- 1:59:53Speaker 3: I think it comes down to a one-score game. I
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: think it might be a four-point game.
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: That wouldn't shock me if it came down to something
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: like that. Let's move on to the next prediction. Philadelphia
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: and Tennessee.
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: Philly.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: It'd be really funny if the Titans somehow win against Philadelphia,
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: but it's going.
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: To be Philadelphia. I would shit a brick if the
- 2:00:17Speaker 2: Titans won this game.
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: Because remember, apparently anything can happen now with the Cardinals winning.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: Fucking apparently.
- 2:00:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but again, Philadelphia would.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: would have to lay a fricking goose egg to lose
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: that game.
- 2:00:36Speaker 3: Uh, speaking of goose eggs, uh, let's see a Packers jets.
- 2:00:41Speaker 3: And apparently the jets are one to know to the Packers. Uh,
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: Owen one.
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: Why do I, why do I feel like, why do
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: I feel crazy enough to actually smoke that hopium and
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: pick the jets?
- 2:00:55Speaker 3: Cause you're behind to me.
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: I mean, is that really the whole reason, Brandon, or
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: am I just that stupid?
- 2:01:10Speaker 2: I low-key want to see Green Bay go 0-2, but
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: I think it's going to be Green Bay winning it.
- 2:01:17Speaker 2: This screams trap game. This does scream trap game a lot.
- 2:01:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it does. Because the Packers plays terribly in East Rutherford,
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: New Jersey for some reason, but I think the Jets
- 2:01:27Speaker 3: are going to be bad enough that the Packers get
- 2:01:29Speaker 3: away with the last second win.
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: I could see that.
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: Let's go to Pittsburgh, New England. How about that game?
- 2:01:39Speaker 3: Oh, this will be fun.
- 2:01:40Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all have at it. Y'all have at it. I'll
- 2:01:44Speaker 2: save mine. I'll save mine.
- 2:01:45Speaker 3: Because the last time they played each other, the Pittsburgh
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: Steelers beat the Patriots in Foxborough.
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01:53Speaker 3: Hmm. Hmm. It's like taking into account the Steeler BS
- 2:02:00Speaker 3: as well as how bad Jake May played against the Seahawks.
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: Is the Steelers' defense at the same level or worse?
- 2:02:07Speaker 3: And that's a question to you, Brandon.
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: Worse. The Steelers' defense is definitely worse than the Seattle's
- 2:02:17Speaker 2: defense is.
- 2:02:18Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: For sure.
- 2:02:21Speaker 3: Call me crazy. I think this goes overtime and the
- 2:02:23Speaker 3: Patriots win.
- 2:02:25Speaker 2: I could see that. I could definitely see that. Also,
- 2:02:28Speaker 2: I think this is kind of generous looking at the
- 2:02:31Speaker 2: matchup predictor on ESPN. New England favored at 66.1%. Holy shit!
- 2:02:37Speaker 2: And this is without A.J. Brown.
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: That is without A.J. Brown.
- 2:02:49Speaker 2: I think that's generous. I think.
- 2:02:53Speaker 2: I do think on paper we're favored. Um... I don't
- 2:02:57Speaker 2: think it's 66% favored. I think it's closer to like
- 2:03:01Speaker 2: a 55-45.
- 2:03:01Speaker 3: Yeah, because remember, steal or BS can just happen anywhere.
- 2:03:07Speaker 2: Yeah, apparently.
- 2:03:08Speaker 3: You'll be consumed by it.
- 2:03:11Speaker 2: I can definitely see what Nova said over time into
- 2:03:18Speaker 2: a field goal game, probably. I can see that for sure.
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: At the same time, I can also see Ramondre Stevenson
- 2:03:26Speaker 2: just running it down their throat.
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: That's what I'm going to do with this prediction. I'm
- 2:03:32Speaker 1: going to say it's the Ramondre Stevenson game. Because, again,
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: your number one receiver for this game is most likely
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: going to be Romeo Dobbs. And we already know how
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: you felt about the muffin. Wait, it's not going to
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: be Matt Collins?
- 2:03:46Speaker 2: No, it's definitely going to be Matt Collins. No, Romeo
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: Dobbs can go eat a cupcake and sit down.
- 2:03:53Speaker 3: Okay. What do we got with Browns Buccaneers?
- 2:03:57Speaker 2: Is this even a question? Do we even need to
- 2:04:00Speaker 2: talk about this?
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: The real question you need to ask is, like I said,
- 2:04:09Speaker 1: how big a fork do you want to stick in
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: Tampa if they lose to this Cleveland Browns team?
- 2:04:15Speaker 2: Their head coach is fired if they lose to this
- 2:04:17Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns team.
- 2:04:18Speaker 3: Let me remind you, the Browns had a big early
- 2:04:21Speaker 3: upset against the Packers early last year.
- 2:04:23Speaker 2: That was last year. This is this year. Yeah.
- 2:04:27Speaker 3: But it's not happening this year. This week, I'll be real.
- 2:04:30Speaker 3: I think Tampa wins. I think it's going to be
- 2:04:31Speaker 3: by at least two scores.
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: Matchup predictor, 79.3% Tampa Bay.
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 2:04:39Speaker 4: I'm surprised it's not 85-15.
- 2:04:43Speaker 2: God. I think Deshaun Watson comes out of this with
- 2:04:45Speaker 2: three picks.
- 2:04:47Speaker 3: Do you think Todd Munkin pulls the Shador trigger?
- 2:04:50Speaker 2: I do, 100%.
- 2:04:52Speaker 4: If he wants to keep his job.
- 2:04:57Speaker 2: I think if he doesn't pull the Shador Sanders trigger
- 2:04:59Speaker 2: after like a second, Deshaun Watson INT, then he loses
- 2:05:02Speaker 2: his job.
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat with Brandon there, but.
- 2:05:08Speaker 4: Let's move on to Cincinnati, Houston.
- 2:05:16Speaker 2: That's not what I meant.
- 2:05:17Speaker 3: Oh, no, that's exactly what he meant, because this is
- 2:05:22Speaker 3: the game the Texans defense will bounce back and give
- 2:05:24Speaker 3: Joe Burrow a living hell.
- 2:05:28Speaker 4: So, Nova, you've got Houston?
- 2:05:30Speaker 3: Yes, I do. I hate the Bengals.
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: Well, then you're going to hate me this week because
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: I'm riding Joe Burrow.
- 2:05:38Speaker 2: I'm also riding Cincinnati as well.
- 2:05:42Speaker 3: You guys don't think D'Amico Reyes bounces his defense back
- 2:05:45Speaker 3: after that Buffalo disaster? How could you?
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: I'm not saying that the defense doesn't bounce back. I'm
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: just saying the.
- 2:05:52Speaker 2: Texans don't win.
- 2:05:52Speaker 3: I'm saying C.J.
- 2:05:53Speaker 2: Stroud's a shit quarterback.
- 2:05:55Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Different discussion.
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: Sure.
- 2:05:59Speaker 4: I'm not saying the defense won't bounce back.
- 2:06:01Speaker 1: I'm saying it's going to be like 21-17 Cincinnati over Houston.
- 2:06:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it'll be a close game.
- 2:06:10Speaker 3: Okay. Saints-Ravens next. I had the Ravens. And, you know,
- 2:06:14Speaker 3: despite the Saints playing a really good game against Detroit,
- 2:06:16Speaker 3: I'm willing to believe that's a one-off. And I think
- 2:06:18Speaker 3: the Ravens win by two scores. I think it might
- 2:06:20Speaker 3: be like someone run the Lions at 31-20.
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: I just feel bad for my friend TJ, who is
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: the guy that I cast VGC events for in Florida.
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: Because this is the second regional in the last, what,
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: two or three years that it's been in Baltimore. The
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: same weekend as a Ravens game.
- 2:06:48Speaker 3: The home opener, mind you.
- 2:06:50Speaker 4: And the home opener, mind you.
- 2:06:53Speaker 2: Which this is the only reason I'm not going to Baltimore,
- 2:06:55Speaker 2: mind you.
- 2:06:57Speaker 4: You're right in New Orleans.
- 2:07:02Speaker 3: That's not what he said. He didn't go to Baltimore regionals.
- 2:07:05Speaker 2: No, that's the reason I didn't go to Baltimore regionals.
- 2:07:07Speaker 2: It's because it's the home opener. Oh.
- 2:07:10Speaker 3: Get your back straight, Talon. How could you?
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: I mean, look, I considered going to Baltimore regionals. Then
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: I actually was smart and looked at my money and decided,
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: you know, a new car is better than going to
- 2:07:22Speaker 1: a regional at this point.
- 2:07:24Speaker 3: Factuals. That's fair. And what's your pick, Talon?
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: Oh, I'm taking Baltimore. Like, is that a question? I'm
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: taking Baltimore.
- 2:07:34Speaker 2: I think it's Baltimore, but I think it's Baltimore, but
- 2:07:36Speaker 2: I think it's Baltimore by three scores. Wow.
- 2:07:40Speaker 3: I'm willing to get the benefit of the doubt to
- 2:07:41Speaker 3: the States, but I don't know.
- 2:07:43Speaker 2: I'm not. I'm not. I think I think Detroit had
- 2:07:46Speaker 2: a bad game. I think Chuck had a good game.
- 2:07:49Speaker 2: I think he over I think he dramatically overperformed. I
- 2:07:55Speaker 2: think it's Baltimore by three scores, and I think they
- 2:07:58Speaker 2: take that three score lead early.
- 2:07:59Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:08:02Speaker 1: I'm not going to go that far on that game.
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: But I could see Baltimore winning by like two scores.
- 2:08:11Speaker 1: I maybe nine points at the most.
- 2:08:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I already said my thing was like 31-20. I
- 2:08:19Speaker 3: think it's going to be deceptively close until the end.
- 2:08:22Speaker 3: But now we move on to the first time ever
- 2:08:25Speaker 3: in the 2027 season, the 1.05 slot in Pacific Time,
- 2:08:29Speaker 3: the 4 o'clock and 5 p.m. slot for the rest
- 2:08:32Speaker 3: of you in the East Coast. Raiders Chargers is where
- 2:08:35Speaker 3: we'll start.
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: Wait a second. Wait a second. Brandon, did he just
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: say a 5 o'clock window? When has there been a
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: 5 o'clock window?
- 2:08:44Speaker 3: No, I meant the 4.05 in the minutes, not the hour.
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: Okay, then I... Did I hear it wrong then, Brandon?
- 2:08:52Speaker 2: You did. Okay.
- 2:08:55Speaker 4: Okay, then I'm just stupid.
- 2:08:57Speaker 3: And this thing got interesting because the Chargers disappointed so
- 2:09:01Speaker 3: badly and the Raiders, albeit also Dolphins, impressed. So, that
- 2:09:06Speaker 3: being said, I don't know who I pick here. I
- 2:09:09Speaker 3: really want to say to... You know what? Screw it.
- 2:09:11Speaker 3: I'm doing it. I'm going to pick the Raiders.
- 2:09:16Speaker 1: And Brandon.
- 2:09:18Speaker 2: Chargers.
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: Ooh, picking the Chargers.
- 2:09:25Speaker 3: What about you, Talon? You're the one that hasn't responded yet.
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: I haven't yet because I was saving it for... We're
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: riding the Kirko train. Let's go.
- 2:09:33Speaker 3: 68.9% favored matchup prediction in favor of the Chargers.
- 2:09:47Speaker 1: I mean, again, as long as they have that offensive line,
- 2:09:50Speaker 1: I don't have confidence.
- 2:09:52Speaker 2: I don't either, but I don't know. I really just
- 2:09:56Speaker 2: want Kirk Cousins to scream, you like that again.
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: That's why I'm picking the Raiders.
- 2:10:02Speaker 1: Well, let's go. Let's stay on the West Coast for
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: the 4 o'clock window.
- 2:10:06Speaker 3: Dak Morris Broncos is the next one up. The 105 hour.
- 2:10:15Speaker 2: I have my thoughts.
- 2:10:17Speaker 3: Then share them.
- 2:10:19Speaker 2: If Denver plays as shitty as they did against Kansas City,
- 2:10:24Speaker 2: this is going to be Jack's by at least two scores.
- 2:10:27Speaker 3: Wasn't that the result last year as well?
- 2:10:28Speaker 2: I think, I believe so. Don't quote me on that
- 2:10:32Speaker 2: without looking it up.
- 2:10:33Speaker 3: I remember I saw this. I remember that Jack Morris
- 2:10:36Speaker 3: won it by at least two scores against Denver in
- 2:10:38Speaker 3: Denver last year.
- 2:10:39Speaker 4: And that's why I'm picking Jacksonville.
- 2:10:41Speaker 1: Look, Denver's got to show me something after playing as
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: abysmal as they did last night. So I'm just not
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: seeing it. I don't think they're going to.
- 2:10:58Speaker 2: The last time that they played Jacksonville at Denver was
- 2:11:01Speaker 2: December 21st, 2025. Jacksonville won 3420.
- 2:11:09Speaker 3: I got Jacksonville as well. And I also think it
- 2:11:11Speaker 3: will be by two scores. I'm not going to think
- 2:11:13Speaker 3: it's more than two. I just think it's going to
- 2:11:15Speaker 3: be two.
- 2:11:18Speaker 4: And Brandon, is it a clean suite?
- 2:11:21Speaker 2: I think it's, I think it, I think Denver kind
- 2:11:23Speaker 2: of gets his shit together a little bit, but I
- 2:11:25Speaker 2: still think, I still think Jacksonville wins by at least
- 2:11:28Speaker 2: one score.
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: Okay. So now we talk about Miami and San Francisco.
- 2:11:37Speaker 3: We moved to the four 25 window. Cause now we
- 2:11:40Speaker 3: have that separation again, which, uh, why do we have this?
- 2:11:44Speaker 2: We have three games in that time slot, mind you.
- 2:11:46Speaker 3: Yeah. I think this is the Niners as well.
- 2:11:50Speaker 1: I mean, that was probably the easiest one of the
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: 425 window.
- 2:11:58Speaker 4: The other two might be a little bit more dicey.
- 2:12:01Speaker 3: Especially because they're rivalry games.
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, which one do we want to talk
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: about first? Seattle, Arizona, or Washington, Dallas?
- 2:12:10Speaker 3: Washington, Dallas, personally, but I don't know about you guys.
- 2:12:12Speaker 3: Where do you want to go?
- 2:12:17Speaker 4: Brandon, let's talk about the Cowgirls.
- 2:12:18Speaker 1: Have at it.
- 2:12:20Speaker 2: Hold on a second. I'm going to backpedal back to
- 2:12:22Speaker 2: this Miami game. You remember what we said about the
- 2:12:25Speaker 2: line and having a double-digit line?
- 2:12:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:12:30Speaker 2: Same friends.
- 2:12:30Speaker 3: 13.5.
- 2:12:31Speaker 1: Oh.
- 2:12:31Speaker 3: I mean, it's not like McGlee-Quillis will pop off against
- 2:12:42Speaker 3: Fred Warner in that defense, right?
- 2:12:46Speaker 2: I hope not.
- 2:12:47Speaker 1: Oh, and it opened at 10 and a half.
- 2:12:52Speaker 2: It opens at 10 and a half and the Niners
- 2:12:54Speaker 2: matchup predictor is 91.5%.
- 2:13:00Speaker 4: I'm still picking the 49ers.
- 2:13:02Speaker 2: I'm still picking the Niners as well, but holy crap,
- 2:13:04Speaker 2: I haven't seen a prediction that's lopsided in a minute.
- 2:13:09Speaker 3: No.
- 2:13:13Speaker 1: But yeah, let's move on to Seattle and Arizona. We'll
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: save the Cowgirls for last because.
- 2:13:22Speaker 3: This game got all of a sudden interesting because of
- 2:13:24Speaker 3: the Cardinals' win over the Chargers.
- 2:13:26Speaker 1: Let me just... I'll make my prediction simple. Is JSN
- 2:13:32Speaker 1: on one of the teams?
- 2:13:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:13:35Speaker 4: JSN is going to win that game.
- 2:13:39Speaker 3: So you're not taking the odds that the Cardinals' win
- 2:13:41Speaker 3: was a fluke? Oh, it was an absolute fluke.
- 2:13:46Speaker 2: Seattle opens up minus 10, spreads three and a half.
- 2:13:53Speaker 3: That sounds wrong. I think it's Seattle nonetheless, but I
- 2:13:58Speaker 3: think it will be deceptively close.
- 2:14:00Speaker 2: Matchup predictor favors Arizona. What?
- 2:14:05Speaker 3: They don't believe in Drew Locke?
- 2:14:08Speaker 2: I don't believe in Drew Locke. Fuck you. I really
- 2:14:15Speaker 2: would love to see Arizona win this game. As like
- 2:14:19Speaker 2: an ultimate apology to my Carolina captain, Timmy. I would
- 2:14:24Speaker 2: really like to see him have extra ha-ha, fuck you,
- 2:14:30Speaker 2: told you so, against me for having the Cardinals beat
- 2:14:34Speaker 2: the Seahawks, but the Patriots cannot beat the Seahawks twice
- 2:14:37Speaker 2: in a row. I would like to see Trey McBride
- 2:14:42Speaker 2: do his thing. I may or may not be biased
- 2:14:47Speaker 2: about that. Yeah, I'm picking Arizona. I may or may
- 2:14:48Speaker 2: not be biased about that for fantasy purposes, but I think.
- 2:14:53Speaker 1: I mean, I've got JSN and Jeremiah Love in this game, so.
- 2:14:58Speaker 4: I.
- 2:15:01Speaker 1: Mean, I'm kind of with you on that, but I
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: have one.
- 2:15:03Speaker 4: On each side, so it's like.
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: But that's Seattle, Arizona. Let's talk about the cowgirls, Brandon.
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: How much do you want to talk about how much
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: you love them cowgirls?
- 2:15:20Speaker 2: I don't. I really don't. God, I hate them as
- 2:15:24Speaker 2: much as I hate any Philadelphia franchise. That says a lot.
- 2:15:30Speaker 2: For those who may have missed it, I'm a Boston
- 2:15:32Speaker 2: fan through and through. Red Sox, Bruins, Pats, Celtics, you
- 2:15:36Speaker 2: name it. I'm in it. I would really, really like
- 2:15:43Speaker 2: to see Jayden Daniels have a bounce-back game because of
- 2:15:46Speaker 2: how well they hung with Philly. I would like to
- 2:15:50Speaker 2: hope that they clean it up a little bit, they
- 2:15:51Speaker 2: tighten up the game plan some, and they just kind
- 2:15:56Speaker 2: of go crazy. I think it's going to be a
- 2:15:59Speaker 2: one-score game, but I would love to see Washington win it,
- 2:16:02Speaker 2: even though everything statistically favors Dallas.
- 2:16:06Speaker 3: No, that's not right. Nothing should favor Dallas. You see
- 2:16:09Speaker 3: that defense?
- 2:16:10Speaker 2: I agree. I agree. Nothing should favor Dallas because fuck Dallas. However, numerically,
- 2:16:17Speaker 2: it favors Dallas, but I would really like to hope
- 2:16:21Speaker 2: Washington wins this.
- 2:16:23Speaker 3: I do too, but I'm picking the Cowboys, not because
- 2:16:26Speaker 3: I don't think that they'll fix their defense. I think
- 2:16:28Speaker 3: they're just going to slam points onto the Commanders. I
- 2:16:32Speaker 3: think they win this in a shootout.
- 2:16:36Speaker 2: Uh....
- 2:16:38Speaker 1: I'm kind of leaning Dallas myself, but I'll say this.
- 2:16:42Speaker 1: I mean, the over under is 51 and a half,
- 2:16:48Speaker 1: but the spread right now is Dallas minus four and
- 2:16:51Speaker 1: a half. I'm going to throw my own spread out
- 2:16:53Speaker 1: there over under hearing on the broadcast 15 times because
- 2:16:59Speaker 1: it's in Dallas. How many times over under 15 that
- 2:17:03Speaker 1: we get to hear Dax cadence.
- 2:17:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:17:07Speaker 1: Here we go which has to be one of the
- 2:17:11Speaker 1: most annoying fucking cadence as i've ever heard i hate
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: it so much i hate.
- 2:17:19Speaker 3: It uh sunday night football now it's.
- 2:17:25Speaker 4: Cold wait wait wait brandon who did you pick.
- 2:17:28Speaker 3: He picked the what commanders commanders okay So we go
- 2:17:33Speaker 3: to Sunday Night Football now, and now we all have
- 2:17:35Speaker 3: to talk about the Chiefs now that they're rubbing it
- 2:17:37Speaker 3: in on us now.
- 2:17:39Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just picking KC because I don't trust
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: Indianapolis as far as Daniel Jones can throw it.
- 2:17:45Speaker 3: That's a tough one.
- 2:17:55Speaker 2: I fucking hate Patrick Mahomes he's so mid fuck you
- 2:18:00Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes I'm taking the Colts.
- 2:18:03Speaker 1: I mean the real question is how many times are
- 2:18:06Speaker 1: they going to show Taylor Swift on the Sunday night broadcast.
- 2:18:09Speaker 2: Bro, she was screaming at the camera to get the
- 2:18:11Speaker 2: camera off of her after Kelsey's touchdown. Or after one
- 2:18:14Speaker 2: of Kelsey's catches, or whatever he had the other night.
- 2:18:18Speaker 3: You know how ESPN plays politics, Elizabeth. They're not going
- 2:18:21Speaker 3: to stop.
- 2:18:23Speaker 2: She was screaming. You could read her lips very clearly.
- 2:18:25Speaker 2: It was very clear.
- 2:18:28Speaker 3: I have the Chiefs. Don't ask me why.
- 2:18:37Speaker 1: I'm not going to ask why we're just going to
- 2:18:40Speaker 1: move on to the last game of the week, the
- 2:18:44Speaker 1: giants and the Rams on Monday night football.
- 2:18:47Speaker 2: Giants, giants, giants, giants play as bad. If the Rams
- 2:18:56Speaker 2: play as bad as they did against the Niners, it's
- 2:18:58Speaker 2: going to be New York driving it down their throats.
- 2:19:03Speaker 3: I think the Rams bounce back. I actually think they win.
- 2:19:06Speaker 4: I got the Rams as well.
- 2:19:08Speaker 2: I would love to see the giant twin. I'll play
- 2:19:10Speaker 2: the underdog of us week. It's fine.
- 2:19:12Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 2:19:15Speaker 2: Look, I also have Devante Adams on one of my
- 2:19:18Speaker 2: fantasy teams as well. So I would love to see
- 2:19:20Speaker 2: him go off because he pretty much shit the bed
- 2:19:23Speaker 2: as well, because Matt Stafford also shut the bed. I, I,
- 2:19:28Speaker 2: I would love to see if New York to keep
- 2:19:30Speaker 2: up what they did against Dallas. They just played a
- 2:19:34Speaker 2: very complete game.
- 2:19:38Speaker 3: What?
- 2:19:41Speaker 4: Nova, did you find something?
- 2:19:43Speaker 3: It's not NFL news. Don't worry.
- 2:19:45Speaker 4: I'll tell you after.
- 2:19:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:19:49Speaker 1: Before we get out of here, guys, with our Ruffling
- 2:19:51Speaker 1: the Feathers segment, I just want to have a little
- 2:19:54Speaker 1: fun with you guys myself because Brandon has– talked about
- 2:19:59Speaker 1: his disdain for Nick Wright, and he's really talked about
- 2:20:04Speaker 1: his disdain for Colin Coward.
- 2:20:08Speaker 4: Two things about Coward.
- 2:20:09Speaker 1: Apparently, he now has merchandise, including a T-shirt that says,
- 2:20:17Speaker 1: that's a you problem, which, in all fairness, I mean, look,
- 2:20:20Speaker 1: irrespective of Coward, that's a great shirt, right, Brandon?
- 2:20:24Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 2:20:28Speaker 3: You know the worst part i know about the merch
- 2:20:30Speaker 3: because i keep watching his youtube shorts uh and he.
- 2:20:33Speaker 1: Also apparently has a t-shirt that says where colin was
- 2:20:36Speaker 1: right yeah he.
- 2:20:37Speaker 3: Does this segment and all of his shows he's like
- 2:20:40Speaker 3: where i'm right where he makes these like predictions where
- 2:20:42Speaker 3: he's like where he's right where he's wrong yeah.
- 2:20:44Speaker 1: Because he claims he actually will take his wrong predictions
- 2:20:49Speaker 1: on the chin and whatnot which he does credit to
- 2:20:52Speaker 1: him he's willing to come out and say you know
- 2:20:55Speaker 1: hey i was wrong um but apparently his herd hierarchy
- 2:20:59Speaker 1: for week two came out and here's his teams brandon
- 2:21:04Speaker 1: you ready for it.
- 2:21:05Speaker 3: Oh i'm ready for this it's not just him it's
- 2:21:07Speaker 3: me too.
- 2:21:09Speaker 1: But i'm waiting to see if brandon's ready for it
- 2:21:11Speaker 1: since he since we know how much he.
- 2:21:12Speaker 2: Likes no yeah no i'm here very begrudgingly listening to
- 2:21:17Speaker 2: this but i'm here.
- 2:21:19Speaker 1: Okay, so for Colin Coward's herd hierarchy, number 10, the Eagles.
- 2:21:25Speaker 1: Number nine, the Bengals.
- 2:21:27Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:21:29Speaker 2: Keep going.
- 2:21:31Speaker 4: Number eight, the Giants.
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: What? Number seven, the Chiefs. Number six, the 49ers. Number five,
- 2:21:41Speaker 1: the Jaguars. Number four, the Bears. Number three, the Ravens.
- 2:21:48Speaker 1: Number two, the Seahawks. And number one, the Buffalo Bills.
- 2:21:59Speaker 3: I'm opposed to like two of those.
- 2:22:02Speaker 2: That's actually kind of reasonable, honestly.
- 2:22:05Speaker 3: It is reasonable to hear the Bengals and the Giants
- 2:22:07Speaker 3: in the top 10.
- 2:22:09Speaker 2: I disagree. I think that is reasonable.
- 2:22:10Speaker 3: No, it is not.
- 2:22:14Speaker 2: The Bengals will drop out of the top 10 next week.
- 2:22:15Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 2:22:17Speaker 3: They better.
- 2:22:20Speaker 1: I mean, I'm willing to say the top five is correct. Like,
- 2:22:29Speaker 1: if you want to interchange some of those ones, I mean, hey,
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: who am I to argue with it? But for the
- 2:22:38Speaker 1: most part, I think it was pretty good for the
- 2:22:41Speaker 1: top five. The bottom five is as interchangeable as you
- 2:22:44Speaker 1: could possibly get.
- 2:22:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:22:49Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I have problems with Buffalo at one,
- 2:22:51Speaker 3: but sure.
- 2:22:54Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you're a Ravens fan. But again, like
- 2:22:58Speaker 1: I said, the top five, you can make an argument
- 2:23:01Speaker 1: for everything. I mean, I was surprised he doesn't have
- 2:23:03Speaker 1: Chicago at number one because they put up 59 points.
- 2:23:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say, why wouldn't he put
- 2:23:08Speaker 3: Chicago at one? He's the one praising Caleb Williams for everything.
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 2:23:17Speaker 4: It is what it is.
- 2:23:18Speaker 1: I mean, people want to listen to Cowherd's opinions. I mean,
- 2:23:26Speaker 1: I'm not going to say he's right. I'm not going
- 2:23:28Speaker 1: to say he's wrong. But, I mean, hey, those were
- 2:23:33Speaker 1: 10 of the best performances.
- 2:23:35Speaker 4: In week one. I'll say that.
- 2:23:38Speaker 3: I can agree.
- 2:23:41Speaker 2: Alrighty.
- 2:23:43Speaker 1: And with that, We have.
- 2:23:46Speaker 3: One last thing to do, hopefully, which is our usual
- 2:23:49Speaker 3: Robin Lee and the Feathers segment.
- 2:23:51Speaker 2: Before that, let me interject something that I just read. Apparently,
- 2:23:57Speaker 2: as of 40 minutes ago, the favorites, because apparently the
- 2:24:02Speaker 2: Steelers are putting Joey Porter up for trade. Or they're
- 2:24:05Speaker 2: at least listening to offers.
- 2:24:08Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I posted about that earlier in the backstage room, too.
- 2:24:12Speaker 2: The Giants have been getting the Harbaugh and everybody has
- 2:24:15Speaker 2: been given the clear, the green light to pursue this
- 2:24:19Speaker 2: man for anything that they deem worth it. And that
- 2:24:21Speaker 2: money is not an issue.
- 2:24:25Speaker 3: Wasn't there a rumor with the Lions with Joey Porter Jr.
- 2:24:28Speaker 1: As well?
- 2:24:28Speaker 2: I think so.
- 2:24:32Speaker 4: Something like that.
- 2:24:34Speaker 2: I could see Joey Porter on this Giants defense being
- 2:24:36Speaker 2: actually pretty OK. But anyway, ruffling the feathers.
- 2:24:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's talk about it. Brandon, you lead us
- 2:24:50Speaker 1: off for this week.
- 2:24:53Speaker 2: Hmm. I've really thought much about a hot take for
- 2:24:57Speaker 2: this week, honestly, because, like, anything that I would have
- 2:25:01Speaker 2: deemed to have been a hot take this week kind
- 2:25:04Speaker 2: of got turned up on its head with all of
- 2:25:06Speaker 2: these teams that we thought were going to lose wound
- 2:25:09Speaker 2: up winning pretty convincingly. Like, I don't understand... NFL world,
- 2:25:15Speaker 2: I guess, now anymore, apparently. Because who honestly expected Arizona
- 2:25:21Speaker 2: to beat the Chargers? Right? Yeah.
- 2:25:27Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:25:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:25:32Speaker 3: I mean, I.
- 2:25:36Speaker 1: Think my hot take is that It was no fluke.
- 2:25:48Speaker 1: I'm going to say... Wow, I can't believe I'm actually
- 2:25:54Speaker 1: about to say this.
- 2:25:56Speaker 4: I'm going to say it was no fluke.
- 2:26:00Speaker 1: The Cincinnati Bengals are going to have the largest margin
- 2:26:03Speaker 1: of victory this week.
- 2:26:07Speaker 2: See, I was thinking kind of something similar. I was thinking,
- 2:26:09Speaker 2: I was actually thinking something very similar as well. And
- 2:26:12Speaker 2: mine was going to be, and I'm going to, I'm
- 2:26:14Speaker 2: going to kind of, I'm going to kind of ride
- 2:26:15Speaker 2: the train here a little bit. I've been riding it
- 2:26:16Speaker 2: for most of the episode. I'm going to do it again.
- 2:26:18Speaker 2: I think the Giants are right up there with them.
- 2:26:24Speaker 3: Here's mine. I think Kirk Cousins throws three touchdowns against
- 2:26:26Speaker 3: the Chargers.
- 2:26:29Speaker 2: I think that's doable.
- 2:26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually don't think the Chargers defense is good.
- 2:26:33Speaker 3: I low-key think the Raiders score 30 on him.
- 2:26:39Speaker 1: That would be something.
- 2:26:44Speaker 3: And remember, there's Raiders fans in SoCal. They're going to
- 2:26:47Speaker 3: flood SoFi.
- 2:26:50Speaker 2: Open the black void. Open the black hole. Let it consume.
- 2:26:56Speaker 2: Come to the dark side.
- 2:26:59Speaker 3: No, that's Seattle.
- 2:27:02Speaker 2: Man's never seen Star Wars.
- 2:27:04Speaker 3: No, I have.
- 2:27:06Speaker 2: I don't know, man. You've never seen SpongeBob. I don't
- 2:27:08Speaker 2: trust you.
- 2:27:15Speaker 3: No, the dark side is called the Seattle Seahawks defense
- 2:27:17Speaker 3: right now.
- 2:27:23Speaker 1: I mean, it's not wrong. The Seahawks defense is called
- 2:27:25Speaker 1: the dark side.
- 2:27:30Speaker 3: That's the episode, ladies and gentlemen.
- 2:27:33Speaker 1: Yes, that is going to conclude episode number eight of
- 2:27:38Speaker 1: the Ruffling the Feathers podcast. if you guys have enjoyed
- 2:27:42Speaker 1: everything that has been said on this episode please consider
- 2:27:45Speaker 1: uh leaving a like and giving us a five-star review
- 2:27:48Speaker 1: wherever you get your podcasts from because It's a lot
- 2:27:53Speaker 1: of fun just talking football, just talking about these games
- 2:27:56Speaker 1: because now we have real games to talk about.
- 2:27:59Speaker 4: We don't have to worry about.
- 2:28:00Speaker 1: Just randomly finding a rabbit out of the hat or,
- 2:28:06Speaker 1: in this case, hoping that Derrick Henry and Darnell Washington
- 2:28:10Speaker 1: don't just take their fucking right arms and stiff arm
- 2:28:13Speaker 1: you into the ground.
- 2:28:16Speaker 4: And Derrick Henry didn't even do that this week.
- 2:28:18Speaker 3: No, Darnell Washington did.
- 2:28:20Speaker 1: Yes, to Xavier Watt.
- 2:28:25Speaker 2: Fuck you, Romeo Dobbs.
- 2:28:31Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say Brandon is looking forward
- 2:28:35Speaker 1: to his receiving core for week two.
- 2:28:38Speaker 2: God almighty.
- 2:28:41Speaker 1: But that's going to end it there, ladies and gentlemen.
- 2:28:45Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your support for Brandon and
- 2:28:49Speaker 1: for Supernova. I am Talent Master Jay, and we will
- 2:28:53Speaker 1: see you guys next week for week two of the NFL.
- 2:28:59Speaker 1: But until then, make sure them feathers stay ruffled because
- 2:29:03Speaker 1: we'll be coming at you with them.
