- 0:53All right, guys, I wanted to do this video because I get so many
- 0:56questions. So many people ask me to say,
- 0:57Dan, how do I make friends? How do I make friends?
- 0:59How do I make friendship relationships last?
- 1:01How do I do all these things? You know, what is it?
- 1:03What is the key to making friends?
- 1:05Well, look, there's no special sauce.
- 1:08Making friends is difficult because anything that's worth
- 1:10having should be a bit of hard work, right?
- 1:12And that's kind of like a more oil of my life by.
- 1:13So it's not going to be easy to make friends, but it's
- 1:16definitely going to be doable. So everything is doable.
- 1:19So I've listed down three of the main components that I really
- 1:23think help, maintain, make and create friendships for long
- 1:28lasting awesomeness. Okay.
- 1:29So here we go. The first one here is like
- 1:33minded interest. Now this is the first thing you
- 1:35need to do. You need to try and find people
- 1:37who have the same interest as you.
- 1:40This could be going to events or meetups or even going online and
- 1:45trying to find Facebook groups of people in your same genre of
- 1:47interest. Like, I'm really into iPads, so
- 1:50I go to iPad forums on Facebook, I find iPad groups on Facebook
- 1:53and I made some friends on there.
- 1:54I skateboard with the Boosted Board when the weather doesn't
- 1:58suck, and I go on to electronic skateboard groups on Facebook
- 2:02and I talk to people. And I met a guy in there who's
- 2:03really cool and he came down and we skated together and then he
- 2:05went to London and got me a Boosted Board T-shirt.
- 2:08That was cool. And this is how you make
- 2:10friends. It's a tried and tested method,
- 2:12be involved in the groups of the subjects.
- 2:14And the interest matters that you are into because then you're
- 2:17going to find like minded people who are going to be already on
- 2:21the same wavelength for you. They're going to be thinking the
- 2:22same stuff as you. They want to hang out.
- 2:24It's the best way to make friendships and it's the
- 2:25quickest way to make friendships.
- 2:27So honestly, don't skimp on this.
- 2:28So #2, It is super important when making friends to be to do
- 2:33everything you can to be completely honest, transparent
- 2:36and nice. You want to be with people.
- 2:38You want people to think that you're horrible in any way.
- 2:41So be nice with people. Be honest.
- 2:43If they ask you questions, be honest, Give honesty.
- 2:45Because honesty is the best policy and the only thing you
- 2:47cannot improve upon is the truth, which is what my father
- 2:50says. So if you want to maintain
- 2:52friendships and have friends, be nice and kind with them and
- 2:55always be honest with them, because they'll respect you for
- 2:57being honest. And if there's anything that
- 2:59autistic people do best, and that's being honest and kind and
- 3:02nice. OK, so #3 in my little toolbox
- 3:05here of things to make friends, help maintain, and create
- 3:08friendships is listen. So #3 is listen.
- 3:11Aspergers can present some issues in knowing when to talk.
- 3:15When it's your turn to talk, you know how long you talk for, When
- 3:18do you stop talking? You know and and loads of stuff,
- 3:22right. And this can make it look like
- 3:24it seems like you're not listening to the other person's
- 3:27conversation, right? Because whenever he tells you
- 3:29anything, then they they it comes from a place of importance
- 3:32from them. It's important for them to tell
- 3:33you and it's important for you to receive that information if
- 3:35you're going to be friends with these people and pivot on that
- 3:37and go, OK, I get it, you know it's important for you and I get
- 3:40it. So by doing that you are
- 3:42actually you're by listening, you're actually maintaining and
- 3:46strengthening your relationship with a friend.
- 3:48So what you want to do is do your best to listen to them.
- 3:51It's important that your friends respond to the conversations
- 3:55that you've asked. And also when they're talking,
- 3:57you respond to their conversation, always listen.
- 4:00It's super important and they'll respect you for it and they will
- 4:02do the same to you. They listen to you, you listen
- 4:05to them. You have a conversation.
- 4:06This is how it works and this is how you maintain long lasting
- 4:09friendships, which is super dope.
- 4:11And guys, on that note, if you think this video can help
- 4:14somebody get a friend or make friends, please share it on
- 4:17Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Tag them in it, share this video
- 4:20with them, send them a DM, whatever.
- 4:22As long as they get this content and it helps them, that's what
- 4:25that's what matters. If you think this video is good,
