- 0:10Speaker 2: writer and columnists. Make sure you follow him on Substack
- 0:13Speaker 2: is Substack is a Rob Shooter, naughty but nice. Follow
- 0:18Speaker 2: him on Substack. Make sure you get his book, his
- 0:19Speaker 2: best selling novel, You'll love it. It's called It Started
- 0:23Speaker 2: with a Whisper. It's available now. It's Started with a
- 0:25Speaker 2: Whisper by Rob Shooter. Rob. How you doing?
- 0:29Speaker 3: Hey, good to be back, my friends?
- 0:30Speaker 2: How are you good? He speaking of being back? I
- 0:33Speaker 2: thought Rosie O'Donnell left the country. What the hell is
- 0:36Speaker 2: she doing back here?
- 0:39Speaker 1: She got help us off Rosies back in New York.
- 0:42Speaker 1: She's been doing this controversial one woman show. I actually
- 0:46Speaker 1: saw it last week. So she's doing this one woman show,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and then I think next week she's filling in for
- 0:51Speaker 1: her pal Jimmy Kimmel's on vacation.
- 0:56Speaker 4: And now she's announced that.
- 0:57Speaker 3: She's returning to the viewers next.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's the thirtieth anniversary of The View Blabomouse.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Rosie with her loose.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Lips has announced to the world but she's coming back.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Well, I hit the phones. Nobody hit the view knows.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Anything about the shit, we don't know.
- 1:18Speaker 1: They said, next year is a big anniversary and will
- 1:21Speaker 1: they be celebrating it? And often these TV shows they
- 1:24Speaker 1: do retrospectives. They look back over the last twenty thirty
- 1:28Speaker 1: years and they pull up old clips and they bring
- 1:30Speaker 1: back old hosts. So is there a possibility that Rosie
- 1:33Speaker 1: might be invited back to be a guest on the show,
- 1:36Speaker 1: not a host.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Yes, But as of this moment, as we speak now, my.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Friends, there's nothing on the books. Nobody knows about it.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Everybody at ABC is scratching their heads, including.
- 1:50Speaker 4: The current host, the Whoopi Goldberg's and the Joys. There's
- 1:53Speaker 4: just nothing there yet.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They could be forwards again, Rosie is ahead of a skis.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Hi can't believe she was. Why what did you say
- 2:04Speaker 2: the thirtieth anniversary of The View?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Do you imagine that thirty years I was a young
- 2:10Speaker 1: publicist in New York. I had just arrived in New
- 2:12Speaker 1: York and The View was one of the hottest shows.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And I used to go there taking different celebrities, and
- 2:19Speaker 1: I was lucky enough to work with Barbara Walters for
- 2:21Speaker 1: a little bit in my PR days. And at first,
- 2:24Speaker 1: everybody made fun of that show. Everybody who taught Pet
- 2:27Speaker 1: show was going to get canceled after the first season.
- 2:30Speaker 1: The numbers weren't very good, and I think if ABC
- 2:33Speaker 1: hadn't had Barbara Walters attached to it, they would have
- 2:36Speaker 1: canceled it. But they didn't want to upset Barbara, so
- 2:39Speaker 1: they gave it a second chance, and in year two,
- 2:42Speaker 1: year three it took off. But initially that show was
- 2:46Speaker 1: a tough sell, and now it's been on for thirty years.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Back then, originally Joy behar was like a once a
- 2:54Speaker 2: week that was it?
- 2:55Speaker 3: Right?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Do you remember? Besides Barbara Walters who were the original.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Gedby Metamophilis, she was like the MTV young person.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Who always said things that annoyed Barbara.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And then there was Star. Joe Star was heavy.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Star was on there, and Meredith Vierira I didn't know
- 3:14Speaker 1: who Meredith was called the view so it's Meredith Barbara
- 3:20Speaker 1: Star and then.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Joy was the Phillip host.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Joy was, I mean, Joy was a savvy player to
- 3:27Speaker 1: go from being a part time host on a TV
- 3:31Speaker 1: show to be in a full time host for thirty years.
- 3:35Speaker 1: She's the only original one left is Joy. She made
- 3:39Speaker 1: a penny or two, so she negotiated the politics the drama,
- 3:43Speaker 1: all that stuff that goes on at ABC. She's still standing.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, when it was Barbara Waters running it for
- 3:50Speaker 2: many years, it was kind of down the middle, you know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: some politics, some entertainment. But then it became crazy, just
- 3:56Speaker 2: strictly left wing stuff.
- 3:59Speaker 3: It's wild, isn't it. Yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 1: They're in a lot of trouble at the moment with
- 4:02Speaker 1: the FCC. The view is claiming that they are a
- 4:06Speaker 1: political show, not an entertainment show.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And ABC moved the view.
- 4:10Speaker 1: When Barbara was there, it was in the entertainment division
- 4:13Speaker 1: and really they focused on celebrities and cooking segments and
- 4:16Speaker 1: fashion and occasionally a little bit of politics, but it
- 4:18Speaker 1: is more of a lifestyle type show. Then they took
- 4:21Speaker 1: a hard turn, which I don't think they would have
- 4:24Speaker 1: done if Barbara had still been alive.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Barbara's successes.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Even though she was an incredible newswoman, she knew the
- 4:30Speaker 1: power of entertainment. Her dad used to run the Latin
- 4:33Speaker 1: Quarter here in New York. He was a showman, and
- 4:36Speaker 1: so Barbara loved celebrities and she wanted that show each
- 4:39Speaker 1: day to be kind of fun, not so heavy. If
- 4:43Speaker 1: they were disagreeing about something, it would be Princess Diana's dress,
- 4:47Speaker 1: not taxes or immigrational. But now they've took a hard turn,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and there was recently a study I think not ninety
- 4:59Speaker 1: percent of the guests lens to the left.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so well, but you know, on both sides of
- 5:05Speaker 2: the aisle you got high IQ shows, low IQ shows.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Like on the left, Rachel Matter, that'd be a high
- 5:12Speaker 2: IQ show, and the view is the low IQ show
- 5:15Speaker 2: and you need that. Yes, so it's okay. I mean, well,
- 5:19Speaker 2: what are they on against? The price is right? I
- 5:21Speaker 2: mean it doesn't have to be that smart. Hey, Carson Daly,
- 5:27Speaker 2: what happened with him?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Matt, Oh, this is trauma.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So I've just announced the kiki. Yeah, this is not
- 5:32Speaker 1: good anybody. He's been on the Voice since day one.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I think he's the original cast member too. All those
- 5:38Speaker 1: judges and people spinning around in those red chairs, most
- 5:42Speaker 1: of them have changed. Carson's the last connective tissue to
- 5:46Speaker 1: the original Voice when it first debuted and it was.
- 5:49Speaker 3: A huge success. He's now dropping out, is the official statement.
- 5:53Speaker 1: The official press release is put out by publicists, and
- 5:57Speaker 1: he wants the focus on his work on this day show.
- 6:00Speaker 3: But he has been doing that and the view for the.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Last and the Voice for the last decades, and so
- 6:06Speaker 1: I don't know what's suddenly changed. It isn't like this
- 6:09Speaker 1: is a new job and he's under a lot of pressure.
- 6:11Speaker 1: He's been juggling both for a really long time. And
- 6:13Speaker 1: let's be honest, he ain't the lead of the Today Show.
- 6:16Speaker 1: He's on, you know, for a few minutes every day.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He's not the host like Savannah. But he's been pushed out,
- 6:23Speaker 1: so he's no longer on the Voice and Kiki Palmer
- 6:27Speaker 1: is taking over. I'm told that even though the press
- 6:29Speaker 1: releases and all the all the interviews are positive and happy,
- 6:34Speaker 1: there's drama there. You and me have done this a
- 6:36Speaker 1: long time. People don't leave jobs like that, they get
- 6:38Speaker 1: pushed out. That is a fat job. It pays really well.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's an easy job. They fly him back and forth
- 6:45Speaker 1: to la on a private plane and he tapes for
- 6:48Speaker 1: a day. He comes back, they put him in a
- 6:49Speaker 1: posh hotel. He's not sleeping on someone's gout. It's a cushy,
- 6:53Speaker 1: cushy job, and it pays millions of dollars. And so
- 6:57Speaker 1: the fact that NBC has pulled that from him, that's
- 7:00Speaker 1: not a good sign.
- 7:01Speaker 2: What do you think it really is. They want somebody younger, thinner, whatever.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I think they want someone younger, someone of color, that
- 7:06Speaker 1: shows a little dated, that shows a little boring. They
- 7:09Speaker 1: like to woke things up, don't they Over at NBC,
- 7:11Speaker 1: They're always bringing in new faces. Look how they destroyed
- 7:15Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars. That was such a great show,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and then they kicked off Tom bergeron.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I think Tyra Banks they brought in.
- 7:22Speaker 1: They wanted a personal color, they wanted a woman, they
- 7:24Speaker 1: wanted someone younger. These shows ain't broke when bosses start meddling.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And we've seen this in our careers that everybody else
- 7:31Speaker 1: is our friends. When bosses start meddling, it never turns
- 7:35Speaker 1: out well. My rule is, if it ain't broken, don't
- 7:38Speaker 1: fix it.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, rap shooter, Hey, get his book. You'll love his book,
- 7:43Speaker 2: his new novel. It started with a whisper and you
- 7:45Speaker 2: can follow him on a substack naughty but nice as
- 7:48Speaker 2: his substack. What's the deal with Travis kelcey Now that
- 7:51Speaker 2: they're married, they're together, still married? Right there?
- 7:56Speaker 1: He's back at work, so training has begun, so he
- 7:59Speaker 1: thought already back. She's laying low. What Taylor's success has
- 8:03Speaker 1: been over the last ten to fifteen years. Is she
- 8:06Speaker 1: knows when she's overexposed, and she disappears. When celebrities pretend
- 8:10Speaker 1: that they can't disappear, it's a lie. They can. I've
- 8:13Speaker 1: worked with them for a long time. They get attention
- 8:15Speaker 1: when they want attention. Jennifer Anderson, she can disappear in
- 8:19Speaker 1: LA when she don't want us to see it.
- 8:20Speaker 3: We don't see it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Julia Roberts disappears, Sandra Bullard disappears. Taylor is feeling the
- 8:25Speaker 1: backlash from that wedding, that massive, ridiculous, kind of vulgar,
- 8:30Speaker 1: over the top wedding at Madison Square Garden. It was
- 8:33Speaker 1: not perceived the way that they wanted it to be perceived.
- 8:37Speaker 1: My sources are telling me they were stung by some
- 8:39Speaker 1: of the criticism. People are struggling, and they shout shut
- 8:43Speaker 1: down New York on the fourth of July weekend on
- 8:45Speaker 1: a major transit and there were above a major transit hub.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Everything about that wedding was odd, including the thousand people.
- 8:54Speaker 3: There're many of which they did not know.
- 8:56Speaker 1: They're not close with Robin Roberts or George Stephanopolis know.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Him, are you?
- 9:01Speaker 4: And so I think that.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Backlash that has stung them a little bit. He's back
- 9:05Speaker 1: at work, but they're both deliberately keeping a low profile.
- 9:09Speaker 1: When you've got her money and you've got private planes,
- 9:11Speaker 1: you can disappear. So at the moment she has done that,
- 9:15Speaker 1: they have disappeared. I don't think we'll see her for
- 9:17Speaker 1: quite a while, and I think, to be honest, it's
- 9:20Speaker 1: probably a good thing. I think everyone's sick of Taylor
- 9:22Speaker 1: Swift at the minute. She needs to lay low, and
- 9:24Speaker 1: that's exactly what you're doing.
- 9:27Speaker 2: So people didn't like the wedding so much. You think
- 9:30Speaker 2: for a wedding, the perfect venue for a wedding is
- 9:33Speaker 2: not a basketball stadium. You think you wouldn't.
- 9:38Speaker 3: That's a very funny question.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I would think already.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It is about love and commitment, not Steven Spielberg sitting
- 9:45Speaker 1: there on the front row looking, you know, trying to
- 9:47Speaker 1: get a job.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Like I just think it's so weird. You know.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I love the guards and I've seen Billy Joel there.
- 9:53Speaker 1: We've seen concerts there, We've seen great sports and events
- 9:55Speaker 1: that you ain't the first place that comes to mind
- 9:58Speaker 1: when you think about it into the robotic It was rididulous.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Everything about it was odd and I think that it
- 10:05Speaker 1: was a misstep for Taylor. She hasn't made many her
- 10:09Speaker 1: fans love her, but you know, she's always painted herself
- 10:12Speaker 1: as the underdog, as a person that's on our side,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and I think she looked totally out of touch and
- 10:19Speaker 1: got stones like. It was a bad look all the
- 10:21Speaker 1: way around, and Adam Sandler being the officians here, who
- 10:25Speaker 1: are you like?
- 10:27Speaker 3: Everything about it was stupid.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Hey, But the word was the reason she had all
- 10:31Speaker 2: these celebrities there and him doing the ceremony is that
- 10:34Speaker 2: the whole thing has been a videotaped for a Netflix special.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Do we know if that's happening.
- 10:39Speaker 3: We do know that it's been taped.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I know a couple of the camera men who were there,
- 10:43Speaker 1: and they're not videographers for weddings. This is not your
- 10:46Speaker 1: cousin Vinny with the camcorder. They're a professional, professional people.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Who work on morning shows, on evening shows.
- 10:53Speaker 1: These were some of the best photographers, some of the
- 10:55Speaker 1: best camera people working today.
- 10:57Speaker 3: So it has been videoed. The other thing about that wedding.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Is that a lot of people felt as if it
- 11:03Speaker 1: was a branding experience rather than a wedding, and a
- 11:08Speaker 1: lot of it felt as if she was trying to
- 11:10Speaker 1: get him work. We know he's probably going to leave
- 11:13Speaker 1: the NFL after this season. It might be his last season.
- 11:16Speaker 1: He desperately wants to get involved in entertainment. And so
- 11:21Speaker 1: a lot of people at that wedding. I think we're
- 11:22Speaker 1: invited so that Travis could shmooter.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Them a little bit.
- 11:26Speaker 1: That's how Hollywood works, Like, don't hate the game. That
- 11:29Speaker 1: is the game, and they play it really really hard,
- 11:32Speaker 1: getting connections, getting your foot in that door. And now
- 11:35Speaker 1: he is mister Taylor Swift. Everybody's going to take his call.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Wow, well, great stuff, brilliant as always. Robshooter, great to
- 11:42Speaker 2: have you on his substack is really good. Sign up
- 11:46Speaker 2: for his substack. Go to substack, Rob Shooter naughty but nice.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Sign up for his substack, and then get his novel.
- 11:53Speaker 2: What's the best place Go to Amazon and get it.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Amazon's a place if you can pick it up
- 11:57Speaker 1: an Amazon Leader review. It's doing really well for golf
- 12:00Speaker 1: colomists get a morning shown and they got them about celebrities,
- 12:03Speaker 1: but they quickly realize.
- 12:04Speaker 3: The real gossip is about themselves. Each of them has
- 12:07Speaker 3: a secret.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Yes, get the book. It's a new novel. It's called
- 12:10Speaker 2: It started with a whisper Rob Shooter. Get it on Amazon.
- 12:14Speaker 2: It started with a whisper Rob Shooter. Thanks for being
- 12:17Speaker 2: with us.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Great to see you.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Get my friend take down.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Take care, talk to you soon. Hey. Yeah, and Culter's
- 12:23Speaker 2: on vacation. Sho'll be back with us next week. Don't
- 12:25Speaker 2: forget at noon today, Buck and Clay, what a good
- 12:29Speaker 2: show every day. And then the most listened to radio
- 12:31Speaker 2: show in America Sean Hannity three and don't forget my
- 12:35Speaker 2: show is now three hours. So we start at nine
- 12:37Speaker 2: am every morning it's nine to ten, I mean nine
- 12:40Speaker 2: to wish. We'll thinking it's nine to noon, nine to
- 12:45Speaker 2: noon every day. And then of course in the morning
- 12:48Speaker 2: six to nine it's Curtis Leewa and Larry Menti on
- 12:51Speaker 2: seven to ten wor
