- 0:38Living a life for Christ. She's a happy girl.
- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02It is no mystery where true wisdom can be found. It is found in Christ Jesus.
- 1:08It is no secret where the source of knowledge is located. It is the person of Jesus Christ.
- 1:14There is much comfort in knowing these facts, because if wisdom and knowledge
- 1:19are the treasures found in your Savior, then you know you can have them.
- 1:23Join us in this program going on a treasure hunt as Kim Miller of Woman at the
- 1:28Well Ministries takes us through Colossians 2 3 which says in whom are hid all
- 1:34the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
- 1:36Hello and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries and we just
- 1:41thank you for joining us and we ask that you would just join us now as we pray.
- 1:45Our kind and most gracious to Heavenly Father Lord I just pray that you would
- 1:48clear our hearts and our minds, that we would hear what you would have us to say.
- 1:52I pray to Heavenly Father that your scriptures would just jump out at us and
- 1:56that we would have full understanding of what they mean that they might be transforming in our lives.
- 2:02I pray, Lord, that you would help us to be the Christians that you would have us to be.
- 2:06I pray, Lord, that we would be the witness that you would have us to be, Lord.
- 2:09And I just ask that you would help each of us to grow closer to you,
- 2:12that our desires would be more of you, and that we would seek after your knowledge and your wisdom.
- 2:18Lord, I thank you for the privilege of serving you.
- 2:21I thank you, Lord, for being part of your kingdom. And I thank you,
- 2:25Lord, for your love and your mercy and your grace. In Jesus' name we pray.
- 2:28And all of God's people said,
- 2:29amen. In today's scripture, we see that he says, in whom are hid all the treasures
- 2:36of wisdom and knowledge.
- 2:37And when we look at the word whom in that verse, we need to move up forward
- 2:42into verse two to be able to see who he's talking about.
- 2:46And he clearly says in verse two, that unto all riches of the full assurance
- 2:51of understanding to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God and of the Father and of Christ.
- 2:57So it's of God and of the Father and of Christ are hid all treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
- 3:04And Paul's hope here and prayer here is that all of us would have our hearts
- 3:09to be comforted and to be knit together in love, and that we would have the riches.
- 3:15Of understanding the mystery of God the Father and of Christ,
- 3:20and that we do that through the wisdom and knowledge that comes strictly and fully from God.
- 3:28It's an interesting thing how much time and energy and money is spent in seeking knowledge.
- 3:35And there is certainly great benefits to being knowledgeable.
- 3:39But it's interesting what we choose to be knowledgeable about.
- 3:44Some of the things that people are incredibly knowledgeable about are not very useful to them.
- 3:51And maybe that's something they do for relaxation. Maybe that's something they
- 3:55do for joy and entertainment.
- 3:57But when it really comes down to that, it really doesn't benefit them.
- 4:02And we all have those things in our lives that we spend a lot of time for.
- 4:06Then there are those things that we learn and we know that we incorporate into
- 4:11our everyday life or into our work performance or into our skill set that allows
- 4:16us to use them so that we are better at what we're trying to do.
- 4:20But the thing that brings the most benefit and the knowledge that is the most
- 4:27useful for every single person is the knowledge of Christ.
- 4:33And that's interesting in the fact that for many of us, the least amount of
- 4:39time we spend seeking knowledge to him is how it is.
- 4:44We will seek knowledge all about us and all around us and in many other things.
- 4:48But we spend just a fraction of time seeking the knowledge of Christ.
- 4:53And that's true for Christians.
- 4:55Many Christians hope to get all the knowledge that they need and want from their
- 5:01Sunday morning service.
- 5:04A few will go back on Sunday night, and still fewer will go back on Wednesday.
- 5:08And between those services, they rarely pick up the Word of God.
- 5:13And knowledge is important to all of us.
- 5:17And knowledge of who God is is incredibly important to the Christian.
- 5:22It teaches us what he
- 5:25has for us it teaches us what he
- 5:28expects of us and it teaches us where
- 5:31we can gain the strength that we need to do what he asks us to do and that is
- 5:38through him it's interesting in that a lot of the other knowledge that we seek
- 5:44is limited to us based on our a capacity to learn,
- 5:49based on a privilege to pay.
- 5:53Based on where we're located or how we have access to it.
- 5:58But the knowledge of Christ, the most valuable knowledge of all, is free to all.
- 6:03And it is available to each and every one of us. And it's found in the form of Christ.
- 6:09It's found in the Word of God. And the Bible says that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
- 6:15And if for some reason you don't have access to the Holy Word of God and you
- 6:21don't own your own Bible, then I encourage you to contact us at Woman at the
- 6:26Well Ministries and we will see to it that you have a Bible in your hands.
- 6:30Because the Word of God is the key to all success.
- 6:34This side of heaven and on the other side of heaven. It's the key to peace.
- 6:40In fact, knowledge of Christ and a working relationship with Christ and a daily
- 6:45walk with him will give you a peace that passes understanding and a joy unspeakable and full of glory.
- 6:52He made it clear that we don't have the things we need because we don't ask.
- 6:59And I don't think that always means material things. I think oftentimes that
- 7:05means we don't have the answers to things that trouble us.
- 7:09We don't have the answers to things that confuse us because we have asked everywhere but him.
- 7:19And true knowledge comes from Christ.
- 7:24And so if you really want to possess a lot of wisdom and knowledge,
- 7:28if you truly want to be wealthy in the things that matter,
- 7:31you have to spend time with the lord and the bible says that he gives wisdom.
- 7:37Liberally to those who ask and we as christians need to change our priorities perhaps.
- 7:44Or at least stop and reflect and say, how much do I desire to know who Christ is?
- 7:52For some of us, understanding that he's our Savior wasn't enough.
- 7:56And we just sort of walked away from the scriptures and we go to church and
- 7:59we let the preachers and pastors and teachers tell us what they're teaching us.
- 8:04But we don't spend time ourselves.
- 8:07And that's kind of like trying to build a relationship with somebody through a third person.
- 8:12And we all have friends who are
- 8:15actually friends of our friends and so we know
- 8:18that person because they're a friend of so-and-so but we
- 8:21don't really know them and that's what
- 8:24you're trying to do when you let preachers and pastors and teachers and other
- 8:30people tell you about the word of god and you never go in and really delve into
- 8:36it yourselves preachers and pastors and teachers are teaching you the Word of
- 8:41God as God has given it to them.
- 8:43And hopefully it's inspiring you and motivating you to draw closer to the Lord
- 8:47and allowing you to understand Him better. But hopefully it's giving you a greater
- 8:51desire to know Him even more.
- 8:53And so it drives you into the Scriptures. It drives
- 8:57you to your knees that you can pray and talk to
- 8:59the true and living God and know that He will
- 9:02give you the knowledge and the wisdom you need not only to succeed but to enable
- 9:08you to understand his full purpose in your life that you trust him and follow
- 9:13him and do his calling in your life you see it's an invaluable treasure.
- 9:22A personal relationship with Christ. It's more than salvation.
- 9:28It's more than saving you from hell. He saves you from a lot of heartache and
- 9:34a lot of disappointment.
- 9:36If you come to him and follow him and let him be your God, he says,
- 9:40I am the way, the truth, and the life.
- 9:42And no man cometh under the father, but by me following after him will keep
- 9:47us on the path that he intended us to have.
- 9:50It will keep us in the place where we were there to receive the blessings that he has for us.
- 9:56It will keep us in the place where we can have the most abundant life and that
- 10:00we can have that peace that passes understanding that I referred to earlier.
- 10:04Following after him and staying in his will is going to give us the best life possible.
- 10:09And it comes from seeking after Christ and seeking his will in your life and
- 10:15allowing him to impart to you his wisdom and his righteousness.
- 10:21Wise people are not found seeking foolish things.
- 10:26Wise people are seeking God. Around Christmas time,
- 10:30we often see t-shirts or sweatshirts or
- 10:33bumper stickers or something that says wise men
- 10:36still seek him and it's talking about how
- 10:39the wise men heard of the birth of
- 10:42jesus and they followed after him and they're saying
- 10:45wise men today people who have wisdom still seek after him and that's a true
- 10:51statement not just during christmas season but every day of the year wise people
- 10:57seek after the counsel and wisdom of god that they might live the life that
- 11:02god God intends for them to live.
- 11:04And he says, if you will ask, that you'll receive. If you seek,
- 11:08you shall find. And if you knock, it'll be open unto you.
- 11:12Wisdom and knowledge is freely given by God to those who seek it.
- 11:17Those who seek it find a wealth beyond this world.
- 11:22They find a richness in the treasures of Christ.
- 11:27And so we need to be daily going on a treasure hunt,
- 11:31looking at the word of God to see the nuggets that he reveals in your heart,
- 11:36to tell you how you need to live,
- 11:39to show you answers to things that you don't understand, to reveal mysteries
- 11:43of things that happen around you,
- 11:45to give you an understanding of what the events that he gives in the scriptures
- 11:50are trying to tell you for this day and time that you might have the wisdom
- 11:55and the knowledge that God imparts to have the abundant life that he promised in John.
- 12:01He said, I have come that you might have life and that you might have it more
- 12:04abundantly. And it's found in seeking the wisdom of God.
- 12:08And all who seek him shall find him.
- 12:12And every moment that you spend in prayer every moment that you spend in study,
- 12:18every moment that you spend learning of God is a moment that you have invested
- 12:24not just in this world, but in eternity.
- 12:27It is the best spent time you can spend because it's an investment.
- 12:33It's not just wasting it away.
- 12:36And so we need to have a disciplined life that is disciplined in prayer and
- 12:41disciplined in Bible study whose heart is desiring to study and know the word
- 12:46of God that we may seek out the treasures that are found in Jesus Christ.
- 12:52And that we might have a life that is filled with wisdom and knowledge.
- 12:59To the point that others can see Jesus in you. Because you're seeking after God.
- 13:07That's the treasure hunt you need to plan. And the treasure hunt you need to
- 13:11go on. So buckle your seatbelt.
- 13:14Put the Holy Spirit around you. And open up the word of God.
- 13:18And get on your knees and see what God has to reveal to you today.
- 13:23It's a treasure hunt, this life of Christianity, where we are seeking after the Lord.
