- Lucas: Hei, og velkommen til Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 81, can you believe it? We're getting so far into this language journey. Lucas: I know. And today we're going to keep building on the verbs you already know. Remember in episode 64 we learned 'å gå' – to go or walk? Luna: Yes! 'Jeg går' – I go. And in episode 78 we had 'å lese' and 'å skrive'. So today is another verb day? Lucas: Exactly. Today we're adding a new verb: 'å komme' – to come. And we'll revisit 'å gå' because they work really well together. Luna: Å komme. That sounds like 'come' – it's kind of similar. Lucas: It is. And it's a very common verb. So let's start with the phrase 'Jeg kommer'. Repeat after me: Jeg kommer. Luna: Jeg kommer. Lucas: Good. And that means 'I come' or 'I'm coming'. For example, 'Jeg kommer fra Norge' – I come from Norway. Luna: Jeg kommer fra Norge. What about 'I come from the US'? Jeg kommer fra USA? Lucas: Exactly. And if you want to ask someone 'Do you come?', it's 'Kommer du?' Luna: Kommer du? That's easy. Lucas: Now, let's use it with 'å gå'. Say I'm going to the store: 'Jeg går til butikken'. And if I say 'I'm coming to the store', it's 'Jeg kommer til butikken'. Luna: So 'går' is going away from somewhere, and 'kommer' is coming towards? That makes sense. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice a little dialogue. I say 'Jeg går til butikken. Kommer du?' – I'm going to the store. Are you coming? Luna: Hmm. Jeg kommer? Yes, I'm coming. So I say 'Ja, jeg kommer'. Lucas: Perfect. 'Ja, jeg kommer.' Now, what if we're both going? 'Vi går' – we go. 'Vi går til butikken'. Luna: Vi går til butikken. And if we're both coming? 'Vi kommer til butikken'? Lucas: Exactly. So you see how the same pattern works. Let's do a quick listen and repeat. Say 'Jeg kommer'. Luna: Jeg kommer. Lucas: Kommer du? Luna: Kommer du? Lucas: Vi går. Luna: Vi går. Lucas: And now let's put them together: 'Jeg går, og du kommer' – I go, and you come. Luna: Jeg går, og du kommer. That's a nice little sentence. Lucas: It is. And by the way, if you're finding these episodes helpful, and you'd like to support us so we can keep making them ad-free, you can buy us a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It really helps us keep the show going. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps. And we appreciate everyone who listens. But let's get back to verbs. Lucas: So, let's try a mini-scenario. Imagine you're on the phone with a friend. You say: 'Jeg kommer klokka sju' – I'm coming at seven o'clock. Luna: Jeg kommer klokka sju. What if I want to say 'I'm going at seven'? 'Jeg går klokka sju'? Lucas: Exactly. So 'går' and 'kommer' are like opposites in direction. Now, one more phrase: 'Vi går på kino' – we're going to the cinema. Can you ask 'Are you coming?', using 'du'? Luna: Kommer du på kino? Lucas: Perfect. That's a natural question. And you could answer: 'Ja, jeg kommer'. Luna: Ja, jeg kommer. So today we've got 'å komme' and 'å gå', and we can use them in both directions. Lucas: Right. Let's do a few more repetitions. Repeat after me: 'Jeg kommer fra Norge'. Luna: Jeg kommer fra Norge. Lucas: Jeg går til skolen. Luna: Jeg går til skolen. Lucas: Vi kommer hjem. Luna: Vi kommer hjem. Lucas: Great. So now you have two powerful verbs. Use them in your everyday conversations. Practice saying 'Jeg kommer' and 'Jeg går' until they feel natural. Luna: I will. And I'll remember that 'kommer' is for coming towards and 'går' is for going away. Lucas: That's the idea. Thanks for joining us today on Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Ha det bra! Bye for now.
