- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I just wanted to reflect for a minute the final
- 0:11Speaker 2: night of twenty twenty four and say thank you for
- 0:15Speaker 2: continuing to help grow the one leg Up network. Thank
- 0:19Speaker 2: you to my fiance Gabb who was at to listen
- 0:21Speaker 2: to me gab for hours on end on this podcast,
- 0:25Speaker 2: day in and day out, and she's a trooper for
- 0:28Speaker 2: sticking by me and supporting me through all the hours
- 0:31Speaker 2: that we've recorded here. I want to thank my mom
- 0:35Speaker 2: and my stepdad and my family for getting me through
- 0:40Speaker 2: one of the most transformative years. I mean, really, if
- 0:44Speaker 2: you look at this year for me, it was a
- 0:46Speaker 2: tale of two years. It was before May twentieth and
- 0:50Speaker 2: then after May twenty second, when I released the Gallstone.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I know I've talked about that a few times here,
- 0:58Speaker 2: but it's worth mentioning one more time. The transformation from
- 1:03Speaker 2: before when I used to go out occasionally and have
- 1:06Speaker 2: a drink or eat crappy food. I mean, I've pretty
- 1:10Speaker 2: much gotten rid of the big three food apps this year,
- 1:15Speaker 2: but it took a Gallstone and being knocked out TKO'd
- 1:21Speaker 2: for multiple days almost I guess green in the face.
- 1:24Speaker 2: They were telling me to say no, what I'm making
- 1:27Speaker 2: changes the rest of the year. And as I've said before,
- 1:31Speaker 2: that moment in May by being hospitalized was a release
- 1:41Speaker 2: of feeling excluded, because immediately after that, I said, screw it,
- 1:45Speaker 2: I'm going out to see Anthony Rizzo. I'm taking Gabby
- 1:49Speaker 2: to go see Yankees at Woodbridge and Frank Luna setting
- 1:52Speaker 2: us up at Woodbridge. Special moment there the day before
- 1:55Speaker 2: Gaby's birthday. I mean, all of you coming together, Rob
- 1:59Speaker 2: Gomett allowing us to go to these Yankee games this season.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We're going to the World Series, We're going to Fanatics Fest.
- 2:06Speaker 2: There were just moments that happened this year with a cousin,
- 2:10Speaker 2: Debbie's fiftieth birthday bash. My cousins were there, my aunts
- 2:14Speaker 2: were there. Gaby got to meet my West Coast now
- 2:18Speaker 2: Virginia aunt Nikki, she got to see Aunt Ricky. It
- 2:22Speaker 2: was a special night that if I was just sailing
- 2:27Speaker 2: along as is and May twentieth through the twenty fourth
- 2:33Speaker 2: did not happen, that inspiration to get out there and
- 2:38Speaker 2: live life to the fullest and say, no, what time constraints, whatever,
- 2:42Speaker 2: I'm going to make these events happen may not have
- 2:46Speaker 2: been there, but that drive happened because of that moment
- 2:50Speaker 2: in May, which has led to it a toll as I'm
- 2:54Speaker 2: calling it transformative year. And then this I want to
- 3:01Speaker 2: thank Lucas Ferrara. Lucas said something so interesting that this
- 3:07Speaker 2: podcast had never heard before, because that again, this podcast
- 3:12Speaker 2: never made. A radio show happened just through one interview,
- 3:18Speaker 2: but with christinaicates Remember I had her on to talk
- 3:21Speaker 2: about her days at the Palm and the days in hospitality.
- 3:27Speaker 2: And Christina Gates now has a radio show. Is a
- 3:32Speaker 2: proud moment for this podcast because I never thought this
- 3:36Speaker 2: podcast could make a radio career happen, but it did,
- 3:43Speaker 2: it did, and it inspired me to do more in
- 3:47Speaker 2: twenty twenty five to launch.
- 3:49Speaker 3: More careers as well as my own radio career.
- 3:52Speaker 2: It's time, it's Simon twenty twenty five to take all
- 3:55Speaker 2: the accomplishments and the work that has been going into
- 3:58Speaker 2: this podcast day in and day out, with the help
- 4:01Speaker 2: of Podmatch, with the support of Theimpact dot Com affiliates, Fanatics,
- 4:09Speaker 2: NFI Medical, recently skill Share, Sling TV. Of course, Derek's
- 4:15Speaker 2: bags big support of the show and I appreciate his support.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Derek Cook and Mike McDonald and Israel estate, and you'll
- 4:22Speaker 2: find out more about his real estate in the description below.
- 4:26Speaker 2: But all these factors are why we're ending twenty twenty
- 4:29Speaker 2: four at forty five thousand views, because the listeners support,
- 4:36Speaker 2: the on air support, and just the drive to keep
- 4:43Speaker 2: this going has made this podcast grow into, as Lucas
- 4:50Speaker 2: Ferrara said in the very first Culinary Confidential, a podcast
- 4:56Speaker 2: that launches radio shows.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Take a listen, thanks to Alex Garrett and that podcast
- 5:03Speaker 4: people at the station. I forwarded it to some people
- 5:07Speaker 4: at the station and Christina, they said, there's something here,
- 5:12Speaker 4: we like it. So Alex Garrett is single handedly responsible.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And with that, two more interviews to end twenty twenty four,
- 5:23Speaker 2: I want to turn your attention to on the same
- 5:25Speaker 2: podcast tonight, ahmard Vatal And of course we ended the
- 5:31Speaker 2: whole entire show with Lou Turmanello's final take of twenty
- 5:38Speaker 2: twenty four. So please sit back, relax, and enjoy the
- 5:42Speaker 2: final episode of the twenty twenty four edition of The
- 5:46Speaker 2: One Leg Up Network. I shouldn't say edition, the twenty
- 5:49Speaker 2: fourth chapter of the One Leg Up Network. I'm Alex Garrett.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 6:09Speaker 2: All right, well, here we are back on one leg up
- 6:11Speaker 2: ball Alex Garrett and with me once again is a
- 6:14Speaker 2: mar Vita amar Welcome.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Back, hey man, thank you for having me on.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Man.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You know when Wels ended our message our conversation last time,
- 6:22Speaker 2: I played a bit of your inspirational message to the
- 6:24Speaker 2: guys in Texas, tell us what you're doing.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I do more of that motivation this year.
- 6:28Speaker 3: How is your year? Year was a little rough, but
- 6:32Speaker 3: you know we were blessed.
- 6:35Speaker 6: And here in the state of Texas, I've been doing
- 6:37Speaker 6: a lot of stuff with a lot of sports teams
- 6:40Speaker 6: out here, been working with some high schools with some
- 6:42Speaker 6: leadership work. I have a program called Brotherhood Belief where
- 6:45Speaker 6: we really focus on the idea of servant leadership, working
- 6:50Speaker 6: with the young men to understand that, you know, being
- 6:52Speaker 6: a leader is not about being on top. It's actually
- 6:55Speaker 6: about being below who those you serve right and being.
- 6:58Speaker 3: There for them.
- 6:59Speaker 6: And so got back from Idaho here recently I was
- 7:03Speaker 6: out in a town called Cuna, right outside of Boise.
- 7:06Speaker 6: I've been to Amarillo and a lot of other places.
- 7:09Speaker 6: I've done some work with some nonprofits, working with a
- 7:11Speaker 6: group out of Austin, Texas doing they help build tiny
- 7:17Speaker 6: homes for the homeless community. The inner city of Austin
- 7:20Speaker 6: has about sixty five hundred homeless people, and so they're
- 7:25Speaker 6: looking to eradicate that. They're looking at a ten year
- 7:27Speaker 6: plan and they just bought some land and they were
- 7:29Speaker 6: breaking grind and we had a gala to try to
- 7:31Speaker 6: raise some money. Thankfully, we pulled in about five figures
- 7:35Speaker 6: worth of income and one night we had a couple
- 7:39Speaker 6: hundred people there.
- 7:39Speaker 3: So there was a lot of good donations coming from that.
- 7:42Speaker 6: And really, man, just getting back out here, trying to
- 7:45Speaker 6: redo the website, my marketing plans, my one sheet, and
- 7:48Speaker 6: you know, update my videos and get back out there
- 7:50Speaker 6: and do some more motivational speaking. I've been excited to
- 7:54Speaker 6: see what twenty twenty five brings. Twenty twenty four it
- 7:57Speaker 6: kind of kicked us in the teeth a little bit,
- 8:00Speaker 6: some family issues and some business issues, but man, you know,
- 8:04Speaker 6: God brought me through all of it, and we're still
- 8:06Speaker 6: here and we're still fun.
- 8:07Speaker 2: We have survived a quarter of a millennium. Okay, that
- 8:10Speaker 2: is just incredible. Thing about so true that quarter of
- 8:13Speaker 2: a century, I guess, I would say, right, so that's
- 8:14Speaker 2: where we've been right there, all right, I'm already gotta
- 8:17Speaker 2: say that you've been traveling.
- 8:19Speaker 5: You mentioned Idaho.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Boise State's probably electric right now because what's going on.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Are you following the college football playoff world as well?
- 8:27Speaker 6: You know, I'm catching I'm catching some action here and there.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I'm a football junkie. I absolutely love it. College football
- 8:34Speaker 6: is one of my phase right now. As we saw,
- 8:37Speaker 6: you know, you expand the playoffs bring more people into
- 8:39Speaker 6: the party. First round was a little suspect a lot
- 8:44Speaker 6: of lopsided wins coming out of that. But you know,
- 8:48Speaker 6: we're we're looking for the quarterfinals coming up. We got
- 8:51Speaker 6: a couple of matchups coming up here. I know one
- 8:52Speaker 6: of them is actually, like you said, being played today,
- 8:54Speaker 6: Penn State versus Boise State. I would probably say Penn
- 8:58Speaker 6: State is going to take that one. Penn State was
- 8:59Speaker 6: absolutely dominant in Round one. Boise State I think has
- 9:04Speaker 6: been a great story, you know, just like some of
- 9:06Speaker 6: the other teams, you know, the Indianas and the SMUs
- 9:10Speaker 6: great story. But I think Penn State has has a
- 9:13Speaker 6: lot going h defense is pretty strong, and offense can
- 9:16Speaker 6: put up some points, man, and I think that's gonna
- 9:18Speaker 6: be an interesting game. I love I absolutely love genty
- 9:21Speaker 6: what he's done this year. I think he was very
- 9:23Speaker 6: close to winning the Heisman. I thought he deserved to
- 9:25Speaker 6: win it. It's just, you know, when you have a
- 9:27Speaker 6: super soldier who can play both sides of the ball
- 9:29Speaker 6: and these six foot plus and can just do anything,
- 9:33Speaker 6: hey man, it's hard to turn away from the work
- 9:35Speaker 6: that Travis Hunter did this year with Colorado and so
- 9:39Speaker 6: but I'm looking forward to Washington Penn State, Bois State game.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Here today.
- 9:43Speaker 6: I got to actually have Alabama Michigan on in the
- 9:45Speaker 6: other room right now, so I see, I.
- 9:48Speaker 3: See you, So what do you So? Are you a
- 9:50Speaker 3: Michigan fan.
- 9:51Speaker 5: No, I'm mainly or a Dame fan.
- 9:53Speaker 2: But with Michigan, I have a friend who likes him,
- 9:56Speaker 2: and I was I have an infinity for Harball.
- 9:59Speaker 5: So there's kind of that too, you know.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And now it's funny what's happening with that program. It's
- 10:04Speaker 2: amazing Strowmore. It took him to the ball game, right that.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That's amazing. But then JJ McCarthy goes to Minnesota. He's
- 10:10Speaker 2: injured the whole year. I'm hoping to see what he
- 10:12Speaker 2: does in the NFL, though, I got to say, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 2: it's a Michigan product right there. But I'm already got
- 10:17Speaker 2: to say this twenty twenty five is coming with a
- 10:20Speaker 2: lot of hope and all that. And I'm sure you're
- 10:22Speaker 2: instilling that message through your work and even through your writing.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Am I right?
- 10:27Speaker 3: I am? I am?
- 10:28Speaker 6: And it's one of those things, man, where I'm actually,
- 10:32Speaker 6: you know, really doing I'm going to get back into
- 10:35Speaker 6: writing and I'm actually right now, I'm really kind of
- 10:38Speaker 6: doing what I have to do, like reflection, personal inventory,
- 10:42Speaker 6: like hey, what worked, what didn't work? What did I miss?
- 10:46Speaker 6: Where can I trust more? What can I serve more?
- 10:49Speaker 6: I'm really going through that process right now. It's going
- 10:51Speaker 6: to be a brutal process because you have to be
- 10:53Speaker 6: I have to be honest with yourself.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Hey where did you? Where did you fall short? Where
- 10:57Speaker 3: do where do you need to put your engine towards?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Man?
- 11:00Speaker 6: Because we can get so distracted so easily on so
- 11:03Speaker 6: many things, and when you really look back at it's like,
- 11:06Speaker 6: wait a minute, I just spent four hours doing what
- 11:09Speaker 6: and so I really want to get down to the grassroots.
- 11:11Speaker 6: If I flip my camera around, you see that my
- 11:13Speaker 6: office is about halfway or forty percent complete as far
- 11:17Speaker 6: as cleaning, And I really just need to purge.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Man.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Sometimes many times less is more.
- 11:22Speaker 6: It's just a lot of things needs to go, a
- 11:24Speaker 6: lot of thoughts need to go, a lot of things
- 11:26Speaker 6: need to go, and maybe even some relationships need to go.
- 11:29Speaker 6: And so I'm really kind of in that, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 6: get off the grid for a little bit, you know,
- 11:34Speaker 6: sit with myself, talk to my father and to see
- 11:37Speaker 6: what what do you have for.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Me this year?
- 11:39Speaker 6: And I think that's sort of where I'm at right now.
- 11:41Speaker 6: It's a really painful but a fulfilling part of life
- 11:44Speaker 6: that I go through many times throughout the year.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Well, I know that he's going to be guiding you.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You know, your father from above and your father yere
- 11:52Speaker 2: on earth. Right, So you got absolutely you got some
- 11:55Speaker 2: of them for sure. I'm Mark. You mentioned a few
- 11:58Speaker 2: things just a few minutes ago with the one you
- 12:00Speaker 2: know that to build your brand, I mean, how important
- 12:02Speaker 2: is that to you? And how important does the others
- 12:05Speaker 2: have that small business mindset of going out there and
- 12:08Speaker 2: sort of being out there with with I don't want
- 12:11Speaker 2: to say promoting yourself, but basically with branding. I guess
- 12:16Speaker 2: that this part I'm trying to make because you want
- 12:17Speaker 2: to do the one sheet and all that.
- 12:19Speaker 5: How important are those things though?
- 12:20Speaker 2: When people want to get off the ground running, especially
- 12:22Speaker 2: in twenty twenty five and started the.
- 12:23Speaker 6: New year, Absolutely, branding obviously is extremely important. It's pretty
- 12:28Speaker 6: much a foundational piece of marketing because branding is not
- 12:32Speaker 6: just what you do.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Branding is who you are.
- 12:35Speaker 6: And the interesting thing is is that when you go
- 12:38Speaker 6: into branding, it's like, Okay, when people see.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Me without knowing me, what am I? Who am I
- 12:44Speaker 3: telling them? I am?
- 12:45Speaker 2: Well?
- 12:46Speaker 3: What am I telling them? I represent?
- 12:48Speaker 6: Right?
- 12:48Speaker 3: What's it's not just what you do? Is what what?
- 12:52Speaker 3: When you show up? What am I getting? When Alex
- 12:55Speaker 3: shows up in my building?
- 12:56Speaker 5: Right?
- 12:56Speaker 3: And that's and that's that's sort of where I'm working
- 12:59Speaker 3: right now. And the issue is is like the me
- 13:01Speaker 3: who's online right.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Now, it's not not me, but it's not the fool
- 13:06Speaker 6: me That me has grown faster than he can update
- 13:13Speaker 6: the packaging, and so I obviously need to get with
- 13:16Speaker 6: some guess with some of my people and figure out
- 13:18Speaker 6: how to repackage that because my faith has just grown
- 13:23Speaker 6: exponentially in the past two years and I'm leaning in
- 13:27Speaker 6: on it. I'm actually I have an announcements coming out
- 13:31Speaker 6: next year where the church leadership saw some things in me,
- 13:35Speaker 6: and I'm going to be moving in a different way.
- 13:37Speaker 6: I probably will go on two, possibly three mission tripslet
- 13:41Speaker 6: next year. And so it's interesting that you would ask
- 13:44Speaker 6: me that question at this time because you know, with
- 13:47Speaker 6: me working with the youth ministry, with me going on
- 13:50Speaker 6: mission trips, with me serving in the church or whatever.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Are you also a chaplain at some point? Do you
- 13:54Speaker 2: do chaplain work for these different teams you work with
- 13:57Speaker 2: or you.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Know, I've seen that work. I love that work.
- 14:00Speaker 6: I haven't pursued what that looks like, but I absolutely
- 14:03Speaker 6: would love to do it because it would.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Be right in my wheelhouse.
- 14:06Speaker 6: I love athletes, I love ballers, and yes, let me
- 14:10Speaker 6: pray for you, Let me pray for your safety. Let me,
- 14:12Speaker 6: you know, be there in the trenches with you guys
- 14:14Speaker 6: when times are getting tough and we can lean on
- 14:16Speaker 6: our faith to make us get it through this game.
- 14:18Speaker 6: And we know that you know how we live, how
- 14:20Speaker 6: we move, and how we breathe and how we do everything.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Loyd's it's it's.
- 14:24Speaker 6: In conjunction with what God has for us. And so
- 14:26Speaker 6: I would like to get into that now. And I
- 14:28Speaker 6: probably need to pursue in looking into what that, what
- 14:31Speaker 6: that would entail, and what that what it takes to
- 14:33Speaker 6: be able to become one of those.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you this to mar because when
- 14:37Speaker 2: I first part you'all, I was so fascinating that you've
- 14:40Speaker 2: taken your work on the field and brought it off
- 14:42Speaker 2: the field with you when you see these athletes, So
- 14:45Speaker 2: are you reminded of your journey?
- 14:47Speaker 5: If I may ask that.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Yes, because I believe that a lot of a lot
- 14:53Speaker 6: of what, a lot of what who I've become was
- 14:55Speaker 6: learned on learning and sports on the football field, on
- 14:59Speaker 6: the track, on the basketball court. Obviously basketball didn't make
- 15:02Speaker 6: the cut going forward, and football and track or sort
- 15:05Speaker 6: of my things. I played college football obviously, And it's
- 15:09Speaker 6: just so much, I mean, so many books, so many
- 15:13Speaker 6: books from corporate America and different motivational speakers and coaches
- 15:17Speaker 6: where what you learn on the football field is things
- 15:20Speaker 6: you need in life, teamwork, accountability, discipline, you know, servant,
- 15:25Speaker 6: servant leadership, all of these different things you learned on.
- 15:28Speaker 3: The football field.
- 15:28Speaker 6: And so I'm glad that I'm able to use all
- 15:31Speaker 6: of that and now I have a stronger faith component
- 15:34Speaker 6: that comes with it, as well, and I'll be honest, Alex,
- 15:38Speaker 6: I'm trying to best bring it all together in the
- 15:44Speaker 6: branding and in my mark and in everything I do,
- 15:47Speaker 6: and what does that look like. Obviously I know that
- 15:49Speaker 6: I am a christ follower doing all of these other things,
- 15:52Speaker 6: but I'm trying to incorporate how all of that will
- 15:55Speaker 6: come together in my presentation. I know when I show
- 15:58Speaker 6: up on that, but how to convey that to the people.
- 16:02Speaker 6: And so obviously I'm living it, but you obviously have
- 16:05Speaker 6: to show you know how this all comes together and
- 16:08Speaker 6: how things are made and done.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Absolutely, you know, I'm just saying, as you're talking here,
- 16:14Speaker 2: it seems like you've really grown in your faith this year.
- 16:16Speaker 5: So tell me about what that journey was.
- 16:19Speaker 6: So I'm I'm a youth ministry leader here in the Williams,
- 16:23Speaker 6: Texas what a church called Grace Willing is part of
- 16:25Speaker 6: a larger group called Grace International, and I've been going.
- 16:29Speaker 6: I've been going there in nearly four years. And as
- 16:32Speaker 6: I was as I went on my third mission trip
- 16:35Speaker 6: this past year, we went to Utah, went to Tuila,
- 16:38Speaker 6: Utah and worked with one of our churches out there.
- 16:41Speaker 6: The percentage of Christians is very low so you have
- 16:43Speaker 6: to know that we're going into a territory where there's
- 16:46Speaker 6: going to be a lot of prodigals. And so as
- 16:48Speaker 6: I'm going through these these different mission trips, these different
- 16:51Speaker 6: conferences and things of that nature, I realized that I
- 16:57Speaker 6: have an influence of being in schools. I have an
- 17:00Speaker 6: influence of being in different in different venues, and I'm
- 17:04Speaker 6: understanding that I can utilize that in such a great
- 17:07Speaker 6: way going forward. And so what I've done is I've
- 17:11Speaker 6: brought in someone to be a basically to be a
- 17:14Speaker 6: disciple to them.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Right, I'm a Timothy and.
- 17:16Speaker 6: I have a Paul, But I also have a group
- 17:20Speaker 6: of young men whom I'm discipling them. And so for
- 17:24Speaker 6: me to be able to pour in more to our youth,
- 17:28Speaker 6: I need to become more and I need to be
- 17:30Speaker 6: I need to allow God to use me more. And
- 17:32Speaker 6: with that, I wanted to be able to to be
- 17:35Speaker 6: able to express that in the best way possible his will,
- 17:37Speaker 6: not my own will, and be better for them. And
- 17:40Speaker 6: so you know, obviously my Bible reading is up. I
- 17:43Speaker 6: have a steady prayer life. Obviously, service is just what
- 17:49Speaker 6: was taught to me from my fathers long ago, and
- 17:51Speaker 6: I continue doing that.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But it's just it's just.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Doing more of the Lord's work and doing more of
- 17:56Speaker 6: what he's calling me to do as opposed to what
- 17:58Speaker 6: am I to do?
- 17:59Speaker 3: She to do?
- 17:59Speaker 6: And so that's kind of where things have changed with me.
- 18:02Speaker 6: I'm being more intentional. I'm meeting with men who are
- 18:05Speaker 6: Bible scholars and have all of this knowledge and saying, hey,
- 18:08Speaker 6: pour into me, and I'm submitting to them, and I'm
- 18:10Speaker 6: honoring them in that spot.
- 18:12Speaker 3: And so all of.
- 18:13Speaker 6: These things have occurred and it's just made me a
- 18:15Speaker 6: stronger man overall, but it also brings it also opens
- 18:18Speaker 6: the door to more attacks it. You're people always think
- 18:24Speaker 6: they like as you as you become stronger in your faith,
- 18:27Speaker 6: like things get easier. No, it becomes more challenging because
- 18:31Speaker 6: you're accountable. More and more things come after you. But
- 18:35Speaker 6: then you just lean on your faith and you continue
- 18:37Speaker 6: to pray your way through it and and wait for
- 18:39Speaker 6: your father to share what you what you need to
- 18:41Speaker 6: do to be to make it through the moment.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Were you a type on the athlete to recognize him
- 18:46Speaker 2: on the field. I know a lot of these athletes,
- 18:48Speaker 2: you know point to the sky, and that is a
- 18:51Speaker 2: reference to God right a lot of the time, and
- 18:53Speaker 2: they're press convergences. The way they talk about their their game,
- 18:56Speaker 2: they actually say thank God, thank God. Were you like
- 18:59Speaker 2: that as an athlete?
- 19:00Speaker 6: Thinking back, I was, But if I have to be
- 19:03Speaker 6: honest with you and the audience, I was kind of
- 19:07Speaker 6: a I don't want to say a show Christian, but
- 19:09Speaker 6: I just it was just something. It wasn't a at
- 19:14Speaker 6: that time high school and college. There was not a
- 19:17Speaker 6: deep rooted faith. I believed in God. I had my
- 19:19Speaker 6: Bible next to me, I prayed and all of those
- 19:21Speaker 6: different things, but it wasn't anywhere near who I am now.
- 19:25Speaker 3: But I did recognize that God was my strength.
- 19:28Speaker 6: I did used to recognize Him in my touchdowns and
- 19:31Speaker 6: different different things like that. And we prayed before games,
- 19:34Speaker 6: and we prayed for protection and all of those different things.
- 19:37Speaker 2: And I tell you what, the most emotional part of
- 19:39Speaker 2: any football game, high school, college, whatever level is when
- 19:42Speaker 2: they're at midfield doing the final prayer as they come
- 19:45Speaker 2: together after facing each other for forty minutes or sixty minutes,
- 19:50Speaker 2: they come down to midfield and just pray with each other.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I think that's one of the most strongest parts of
- 19:54Speaker 2: the whole game. And I know many people don't stick
- 19:56Speaker 2: around to see that, but when you see that, it's
- 19:58Speaker 2: a pretty moving moment.
- 19:59Speaker 6: Actually, yeah, well you see all the saints, all the faith,
- 20:03Speaker 6: all those all those following together and they hold hands
- 20:06Speaker 6: whether they won.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Or lost, and they circle together because not.
- 20:10Speaker 6: Only do we know that that it is Him as
- 20:12Speaker 6: the reason why we're able to play this game and
- 20:14Speaker 6: we came away safely.
- 20:15Speaker 3: But we're a lot.
- 20:17Speaker 6: We have life because He was so for us to
- 20:20Speaker 6: come together and gather together and go to Him in
- 20:23Speaker 6: prayer is such a powerful statement and it's beautiful and
- 20:27Speaker 6: I and I'm glad to see more of that. I
- 20:29Speaker 6: heard the Boise State coach after the after the I
- 20:32Speaker 6: think it was after the conference championship win, and he
- 20:36Speaker 6: and he spoke very very strong about his faith, talked
- 20:39Speaker 6: about Christ, and it was just like it.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Was just a breath of fresh air.
- 20:43Speaker 6: And it was a lot of people who were just like, yes,
- 20:44Speaker 6: more of this, more of this, because because we've turned
- 20:48Speaker 6: so much to so much darkness, so much paganism, so
- 20:52Speaker 6: much idle worship of self, to the point where it's
- 20:56Speaker 6: just like this life that we have, it's not about us.
- 20:59Speaker 6: It's just not right, it's so much bigger than that.
- 21:02Speaker 6: But and I'm glad we're getting back to that, and
- 21:04Speaker 6: there's a lot of good people on the ground, and
- 21:06Speaker 6: and I pray that I'm continuing to be a representation
- 21:09Speaker 6: of that myself and go out and do the good
- 21:11Speaker 6: work and show others that you know, there is something
- 21:14Speaker 6: bigger than yourself to be able to conmy.
- 21:16Speaker 2: By the way, when you do those mission trips in
- 21:18Speaker 2: twenty five, keep us posted because I love to know
- 21:20Speaker 2: more about what they what you were doing, you know,
- 21:23Speaker 2: in the work of the Lord, So that'll be awesome.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:26Speaker 2: The other thing about football players, and I think all
- 21:28Speaker 2: athletes recognize this is God gave you a gift to play,
- 21:31Speaker 2: you know. I think there's that undoubted truth, isn't it.
- 21:37Speaker 6: It absolutely is, And it's and it's interesting you say
- 21:39Speaker 6: that because that's you're grateful for the talent He gave you.
- 21:44Speaker 6: Like you know, if you're you're six ft plus, I
- 21:46Speaker 6: mean you're blessed with with with height, with physical ability.
- 21:49Speaker 6: Some people, you know, are just born being able to
- 21:52Speaker 6: run fast. Now, of course you have to continue to
- 21:53Speaker 6: cultivate those talents. But you look at some people and say,
- 21:57Speaker 6: like everybody didn't get that, Like, that's just the truth.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You know.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Some people can run like the wins, some people can jump,
- 22:03Speaker 6: some people are very physically naturally large and just doing
- 22:07Speaker 6: the doing the waste to go along with that. I mean, you,
- 22:11Speaker 6: I can do all the ways in the world. I'm
- 22:12Speaker 6: not going to be six foot five ever, that's just
- 22:14Speaker 6: not going to happen.
- 22:16Speaker 2: But it's done a really good job there of making
- 22:19Speaker 2: sure athletes get the education because they realize not everybody's
- 22:22Speaker 2: gonna be a number one draft pick.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Now everyone's going.
- 22:24Speaker 2: To be even drafted in the NFL, NBA, NHL. It
- 22:28Speaker 2: doesn't happen everybody.
- 22:29Speaker 5: So do you feel like.
- 22:30Speaker 2: The n n c A is done a good job
- 22:32Speaker 2: insuing education or could do they more? Could they do
- 22:35Speaker 2: more for those athletes that may not have the chance
- 22:38Speaker 2: to make it? If you if you if you know
- 22:39Speaker 2: what I mean, you know, it's.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Debatable what the role of the n C double.
- 22:44Speaker 6: A is right now and and and and and in
- 22:47Speaker 6: all of totality, like right we we can we can
- 22:50Speaker 6: you know, look and say, okay, what role does the
- 22:54Speaker 6: n C double A play at this point in time?
- 22:56Speaker 6: And I owe money these these uh, these these colleges
- 22:59Speaker 6: have recruiting going. You got the TV contracts and different
- 23:02Speaker 6: things like that. But I don't believe that the student
- 23:07Speaker 6: athlete student athlete has been promoted as much as it should. Yes,
- 23:12Speaker 6: I think the percentage, the percentage of young men who
- 23:15Speaker 6: go on to play college football is small from high
- 23:18Speaker 6: school and the percentage to go to the NFL is even.
- 23:23Speaker 5: A quarter of that.
- 23:24Speaker 6: And so obviously a lot of these guys they're going
- 23:28Speaker 6: to go on and be pros and something else. And
- 23:31Speaker 6: I know when I was coming up in the nineties,
- 23:33Speaker 6: it was always known that, like you know, you went
- 23:35Speaker 6: to school to play football and that's the only thing
- 23:37Speaker 6: you went to go do. I think that mindshed has
- 23:40Speaker 6: shifted these days a little bit more to where guys
- 23:43Speaker 6: are going and they are getting their education. Some guys
- 23:45Speaker 6: are going to get advanced degrees, which I think is awesome.
- 23:49Speaker 6: You graduate with your degree, you go to another school
- 23:51Speaker 6: and start a master's program. I think that's amazing. I
- 23:54Speaker 6: love when guys go ahead and graduate from college and
- 23:57Speaker 6: then join coaching staffs and go I want to do
- 24:00Speaker 6: those types of things and pour into young men. I
- 24:03Speaker 6: think though all those things are great, and you're right,
- 24:06Speaker 6: the pathway of success for most of these guys is
- 24:08Speaker 6: not going to come on Sundays on Sundays playing in
- 24:11Speaker 6: the NFL, or Mondays or Thursdays. It's going to come
- 24:14Speaker 6: from doing professional work. Some things you learned at your
- 24:17Speaker 6: four year institution and you move on with your life
- 24:20Speaker 6: and do great and amazing things you did. You use
- 24:24Speaker 6: sports as a means to earn yourself a better life.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Your school is paid for, maybe you made a little
- 24:31Speaker 6: bit of money while you're in college, and now you've
- 24:33Speaker 6: gone on to do something else and hopefully you have
- 24:36Speaker 6: no debt. That's a beautiful thing, and I think more
- 24:39Speaker 6: guys need to embrace that and make sure that you
- 24:42Speaker 6: have a degree that's actually going to be worth something
- 24:44Speaker 6: on the open market. That's a whole nother podcast for
- 24:47Speaker 6: another day, but it's a beautiful thing when guys can
- 24:50Speaker 6: utilize their skills and talents to leverage that into becoming
- 24:53Speaker 6: successful in life, because that's exactly what you're doing.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I think some of these teams need to hire you,
- 24:59Speaker 2: especially you for the first round picks. You know, I
- 25:01Speaker 2: don't know, I feel like the wet behind the years
- 25:03Speaker 2: guys just get drafted.
- 25:04Speaker 5: You need this kind of.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Encouragement going into their their year. And even those who
- 25:10Speaker 2: are in the college level, are you doing college level
- 25:12Speaker 2: at all or what? Or NFL level or is it
- 25:14Speaker 2: a high school based.
- 25:15Speaker 3: So I still have some colleges on a team.
- 25:18Speaker 6: I have a couple of a couple of junior colleges
- 25:20Speaker 6: and community college I've worked with.
- 25:22Speaker 3: There's been some d one schools.
- 25:23Speaker 6: It's just it's been a couple of years since I
- 25:25Speaker 6: went back into some of those schools. I've done more
- 25:27Speaker 6: with nonprofits and startup businesses and and and small small
- 25:32Speaker 6: businesses and things of that nature as of late. But
- 25:34Speaker 6: I am going to start firing back up my my
- 25:37Speaker 6: contacts in the college world because I mean, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 6: I got several colleges here in the state of Texas
- 25:42Speaker 6: I've been working with, and so I just need to
- 25:44Speaker 6: just I need to get back in touch with them.
- 25:46Speaker 6: Like I said, this year had a lot of family
- 25:47Speaker 6: issues going on, so we just were sort of off
- 25:50Speaker 6: the grid, making sure the foundation of the family was good.
- 25:52Speaker 6: And then we'll get we're gonna get back on the
- 25:54Speaker 6: playing field of life and and doing the good work
- 25:56Speaker 6: with more people.
- 25:57Speaker 2: But yeah, it's been a good it's been a good run.
- 26:00Speaker 2: You know you mentioned my team. By the way, I
- 26:02Speaker 2: do love Notre Dame. That's my number one college crew,
- 26:05Speaker 2: so I keep watching them. I've been thinking Texas is
- 26:10Speaker 2: someone to watch out the Longhorns or someone to watch
- 26:13Speaker 2: out for this college football playoff.
- 26:14Speaker 5: And I don't think I'm gonna be wrong on that.
- 26:16Speaker 6: I might know that, uh that that that defense is
- 26:19Speaker 6: is is nasty. I'd say them and Georgia are really
- 26:24Speaker 6: just doing doing some great doing some great things out there.
- 26:29Speaker 6: Obviously Texas offense is is putting up some points as well,
- 26:32Speaker 6: But that defense is I think top two, top three
- 26:34Speaker 6: in the country.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Uh.
- 26:35Speaker 6: I've seen so many fourth downstoffs from that defense. It
- 26:38Speaker 6: has been has been absolutely amazing. I mean, being a
- 26:41Speaker 6: guy from the state of Texas typically am I always
- 26:43Speaker 6: gonna wrap my Texas schools most of them as far
- 26:46Speaker 6: as wanting to have success on the field and things
- 26:49Speaker 6: of that nature. But yes, not I agree your team.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Your team is looking looking pretty solid right now. I
- 26:54Speaker 6: love I love the transformation Freeman made from year one
- 26:57Speaker 6: to year two, how they bounce back from that.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Really, I can't remember the team.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Well, it was Northern Illinois University, Yeah, who actually won
- 27:07Speaker 2: a bunch more money by winning that game. By the way, Yes,
- 27:10Speaker 2: and it's funny. I had someone who was an alumni
- 27:13Speaker 2: of Northern Illinois on my podcast a few weeks later.
- 27:16Speaker 2: How about that for timing? But no, that was a
- 27:19Speaker 2: special win for them. But you're right, Notre Dame bounced back.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I didn't like the idea that they were going to
- 27:23Speaker 2: fire they should fire Freeman. You know, I'm like, no,
- 27:27Speaker 2: don't go with that. You know, he's a great coach
- 27:29Speaker 2: and his recruiting is so amazing, and you know it
- 27:32Speaker 2: was impressed by the Bears. The Bears are impressed by
- 27:35Speaker 2: his coaching too, So we'll see if that ever happens.
- 27:37Speaker 2: But you know, Omar, I got to say this as
- 27:40Speaker 2: we're talking. When we first talked, you were doing a
- 27:43Speaker 2: lot of this on TV. You were doing the college
- 27:44Speaker 2: football analysis. But has growing deeper in your faith sort
- 27:49Speaker 2: of taking away from that big lights TV sports analysis?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Would you say or what's you know? Is that a
- 27:57Speaker 2: reason why you're no, It's just I got I got
- 28:00Speaker 2: out of doing the daily grind of sports. Recruiting analysts
- 28:04Speaker 2: work pretty much altogether. I do a couple of things
- 28:07Speaker 2: here from a written standpoint, But the TV work has
- 28:10Speaker 2: been has been off for a few years now, and
- 28:14Speaker 2: my faith has doesn't really have any correlation with it.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Because now whatever I do going forward.
- 28:20Speaker 6: Let's just say I went back into sports journalism and
- 28:23Speaker 6: I got back into writing and doing the late night
- 28:27Speaker 6: Fox show here in the Houston area, and I'm going
- 28:29Speaker 6: back to high school games, and I'm going back and
- 28:31Speaker 6: covering college games, and I'm doing college football recruiting again.
- 28:34Speaker 6: My faith is going to be the leader on the
- 28:36Speaker 6: front end of that going forward. Whatever I do now,
- 28:39Speaker 6: I'm taking the ministry on the battlefield with me with
- 28:42Speaker 6: the work I do. So whatever I do, it's just
- 28:45Speaker 6: now is going to be intensified and the fact that
- 28:48Speaker 6: that my faith is going to go along with me,
- 28:50Speaker 6: and I'm going to you know, be very open about that,
- 28:53Speaker 6: not to be pushy, but to be open.
- 28:56Speaker 3: About it, right, And that's just what we're called to do.
- 28:59Speaker 6: We're called to share and be you know, good servants
- 29:01Speaker 6: unto others. And so that's going to be the difference
- 29:04Speaker 6: in me going forward, and I look forward to that
- 29:06Speaker 6: transformation and it's still me. It's still like downloading downloading
- 29:11Speaker 6: now and it's still I'm still going through that process.
- 29:14Speaker 6: But we're here, and I'm more than willing to uh
- 29:17Speaker 6: to start making that journey, which I've already been doing
- 29:20Speaker 6: up to this point, and continuing.
- 29:21Speaker 3: To do that.
- 29:23Speaker 2: When you're on the field, right, did you feel like
- 29:26Speaker 2: as an a guy coming in for a tackle, did
- 29:28Speaker 2: you feel like, all right, God, you gotta get me
- 29:30Speaker 2: through this one tackle one after the other. Right?
- 29:32Speaker 5: Didn't feel like that sometimes?
- 29:33Speaker 6: Or Alison still feels like that sometimes, just from the
- 29:38Speaker 6: standpoint that you know, the trap, the road for which
- 29:42Speaker 6: I got here is an interesting one. And you can
- 29:46Speaker 6: probably go back and poll all the people I went
- 29:49Speaker 6: to college with and they'd be like, that guy's a
- 29:51Speaker 6: youth ministry leader.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Really, that guy teaches the youth, he's leading the youth.
- 29:55Speaker 6: He's you know, he's a man of God, he's a
- 29:57Speaker 6: man of faith, and it there would be many who
- 30:01Speaker 6: was just like I would never imagine that he would
- 30:03Speaker 6: do that.
- 30:04Speaker 3: And then you know, and just to be honest, sometimes, man,
- 30:07Speaker 3: you don't I don't.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Deserve some of the things that have occurred to me. Right,
- 30:12Speaker 6: I didn't earn this, some of this stuff. I've fallen
- 30:14Speaker 6: short many of times. But I know that his grace
- 30:17Speaker 6: is what is the reason why I'm able to still
- 30:19Speaker 6: do the work, and I'm able to be in at trenches.
- 30:22Speaker 6: And I know that based on the word we read like,
- 30:25Speaker 6: he didn't always choose the most polished, the most righteous,
- 30:30Speaker 6: the most respected people, right, but he chose those who
- 30:34Speaker 6: had a heart to want to serve and give. And
- 30:36Speaker 6: that I will say I do have. And so as
- 30:39Speaker 6: I go and I grow in my faith in things
- 30:41Speaker 6: of the nature, I'm grateful that now I can look
- 30:45Speaker 6: at myself and say, you know, God gave me another chance,
- 30:49Speaker 6: and I'm going to continue doing this. And I love
- 30:51Speaker 6: the young people I work with. I think they're amazing
- 30:54Speaker 6: to see the next generation unfold before me, and I
- 30:57Speaker 6: can look at them and say, Hey, this road that
- 30:59Speaker 6: you're about to travel, let me tell you about some
- 31:02Speaker 6: of the pittholes, the potholes that you may fall into
- 31:04Speaker 6: that I fell into many times and now I've come
- 31:07Speaker 6: out of those. But let me save you from spraining
- 31:10Speaker 6: your ankle a couple of times and be able to
- 31:12Speaker 6: get you on a pathway that's going to bring more
- 31:14Speaker 6: good into your life.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Let me tell you, I feel like youth ministry is
- 31:18Speaker 2: so vital because here they are. You have an opportunity
- 31:22Speaker 2: to get kids the perspective that they don't get in
- 31:25Speaker 2: the classroom. And Okay, we could talk about separation of
- 31:28Speaker 2: church and state all we want, but I also feel
- 31:30Speaker 2: like they're not getting any kind of faith based thing
- 31:34Speaker 2: in the public school system. I mean, if I can
- 31:36Speaker 2: opine for a minute, so do you feel like you're
- 31:38Speaker 2: that backstop to say, Okay, here's this other perspective I
- 31:41Speaker 2: want you to look at, which is God.
- 31:45Speaker 6: Well, you know, to be honest, elics, I told you
- 31:48Speaker 6: I just got back from I just got back from
- 31:50Speaker 6: Kuna write Us out of Boise, Idaho, and I offered
- 31:53Speaker 6: coach you know, I did a leadership session with his coaches.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I did a leadership session with his team captains.
- 32:00Speaker 6: And I always do a community service project when I
- 32:03Speaker 6: come down to a city because I want to give
- 32:04Speaker 6: back to the community which poured into me and giving
- 32:07Speaker 6: me the opportunity to be able to speak unto their
- 32:09Speaker 6: students or teachers or coaches, to have whomever I'm there
- 32:11Speaker 6: to speak with. And I offer the Bible study while
- 32:15Speaker 6: I was there, not forceful. It's open to whoever wants
- 32:18Speaker 6: to come by. And we had a coach and a
- 32:21Speaker 6: couple of players come by and Right before I jumped
- 32:23Speaker 6: on the plane, we had a Bible study.
- 32:25Speaker 3: And so those are type of things I'm going to
- 32:27Speaker 3: do going forward. I'll offer.
- 32:30Speaker 6: You know, just like when you guys go praying at
- 32:33Speaker 6: the fifty yard line, it's not forced. We're going out
- 32:36Speaker 6: there and kneeling. We're gonna pray and we're gonna honor God.
- 32:38Speaker 6: If you want to come, fine, If not, no one is.
- 32:40Speaker 6: No one is upset. It's not forceful. So that's what's
- 32:43Speaker 6: going to be happening with the new me. That's the
- 32:46Speaker 6: new me. I'm getting used to saying, Hey, this is
- 32:48Speaker 6: what I want to offer for you. Here's what's available
- 32:51Speaker 6: to your guys. And yes, we do need a restore
- 32:54Speaker 6: sense of morality, which does which is biblical, because a
- 32:57Speaker 6: lot of the morality we have come from the Bible.
- 33:01Speaker 6: It does need to be restored, you know, the separation
- 33:04Speaker 6: between church and state. I mean, come on, like, can
- 33:07Speaker 6: we say that the public school is better now than
- 33:09Speaker 6: it was twenty five years ago.
- 33:12Speaker 3: No, we can't exactly that. The morality has just taken
- 33:16Speaker 3: a decline.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So and at that point, you know, there are people
- 33:21Speaker 2: out there in our generation, by the way, cheering the
- 33:25Speaker 2: murder of the CEO in Cold Blood. I mean, is
- 33:29Speaker 2: that a sign that we're not at all where we
- 33:32Speaker 2: should be?
- 33:33Speaker 5: I feel like it is, isn't it.
- 33:36Speaker 6: Well, we we know we live in a fallen state.
- 33:38Speaker 6: We know that that's that's understandable. We all fall short,
- 33:41Speaker 6: we all sin and all those things. But I do
- 33:44Speaker 6: agree that the that there's a facet of there's a
- 33:49Speaker 6: there's a there's a there's a portion of the society
- 33:53Speaker 6: who is so far on the other side and glorifying
- 33:56Speaker 6: you know, sex and death and you know, this level
- 34:01Speaker 6: of equality that doesn't exist right, there's there's there's so
- 34:06Speaker 6: many things that are going on simultaneously. And whereas I
- 34:11Speaker 6: obviously don't like to see people, you know, do wrong
- 34:16Speaker 6: unto old people, under children, not protecting women or disrespecting other.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Men, I don't like seeing any of that. I definitely
- 34:24Speaker 3: don't condone murder. Right, So when we get to a
- 34:27Speaker 3: point where.
- 34:28Speaker 6: It's like, okay, that's justified because you had a couple
- 34:33Speaker 6: of claims that were denied, No, that that that we
- 34:36Speaker 6: we can't get we can't be there that that can't
- 34:39Speaker 6: be the case.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:40Speaker 6: We can't say, like I can look at someone and
- 34:43Speaker 6: say that they're they're immoral, but it's not up for
- 34:45Speaker 6: me for them to see punishment from me, right, I
- 34:50Speaker 6: trust my Lord Savior to take care of that, right,
- 34:53Speaker 6: and it will come back around to you because it
- 34:54Speaker 6: rains on the just and the unjust.
- 34:56Speaker 3: However, cheering on murder.
- 35:00Speaker 6: As someone who did not I don't want to say legally.
- 35:05Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know what category we want to
- 35:07Speaker 6: put it in.
- 35:08Speaker 2: It's just like it didn't deserve, did not deserve to
- 35:11Speaker 2: be killed like that in the middle of Manhattan. I mean,
- 35:14Speaker 2: and I it's impacted us because we're in New York,
- 35:17Speaker 2: you know, and it's like it just it's a share,
- 35:20Speaker 2: it's an eerie healing and I'm here even more pissed
- 35:23Speaker 2: off that people are cheering it.
- 35:25Speaker 3: That's that's the point.
- 35:26Speaker 5: And I think the school system is.
- 35:27Speaker 2: The reason why they are because they've been grown to
- 35:29Speaker 2: hate CEOs and everything like that, and of course they're
- 35:34Speaker 2: not grown to love the Lord. I think that's what
- 35:36Speaker 2: the point of all this is. So uh, this has
- 35:39Speaker 2: been great. I always want to bring up for your
- 35:42Speaker 2: twenty twenty five message before I let you go, and
- 35:44Speaker 2: even a prayer if you want to give our listeners today.
- 35:49Speaker 6: Okay, we can definitely uh pray going. We can pray
- 35:52Speaker 6: going into twenty twenty five. I'll ask you, Alex, do
- 35:56Speaker 6: you have any prayer requests for your podcast, for your family,
- 36:00Speaker 6: or for your show.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Well, transformative year that hit me. I mean I was
- 36:06Speaker 2: in the hospital for a whole week dealing with the
- 36:08Speaker 2: goldstone issue, which SI lent me for a whole month.
- 36:11Speaker 2: So like, I want that transformative thing that I think
- 36:15Speaker 2: God helped me with because he got me through that, right,
- 36:18Speaker 2: I want that to be a lasting impact. I don't
- 36:20Speaker 2: go back into those habits that led me to the
- 36:22Speaker 2: hospital in the first place. So that's my one prayer
- 36:24Speaker 2: that I learned from this transformative year and run with it.
- 36:29Speaker 6: We want, we definitely want to be able to take
- 36:31Speaker 6: care of all of our people. So for all the
- 36:35Speaker 6: listeners out there and for my brother Alex, let us
- 36:40Speaker 6: let us go into prayer. Father Lord, we thank you
- 36:44Speaker 6: for this time and for your presence. We thank you
- 36:46Speaker 6: for your grace and mercy which you have extended to us.
- 36:49Speaker 6: Heavenly Father Lord, I pray that should be with Alex
- 36:51Speaker 6: during his time with his podcast, with his family, with
- 36:54Speaker 6: everything that he's involved with. Heavenly Father for Lord, we
- 36:57Speaker 6: know that you have brought him out of some some
- 37:00Speaker 6: some sickness and some different ailments of his body. Heavenly Father, Lord,
- 37:03Speaker 6: I pray that you just bless his body, Heavenly Father,
- 37:06Speaker 6: cover him in your blood, heal every cell of his
- 37:08Speaker 6: body and be able to restore the gallstones that have
- 37:12Speaker 6: been worked on. Heavenly Father, Lord, and I pray that
- 37:14Speaker 6: you not only bless him, but bless his home, Heavenly Father.
- 37:17Speaker 6: For his fiancee's recently dealing with some surgeries, Heavenly Father, Lord,
- 37:21Speaker 6: I pray that you bless her and bring her to
- 37:23Speaker 6: full health, Heavenly Father. As they go through and they're
- 37:26Speaker 6: dealing with these different issues, Heavenly Father, and they're going
- 37:28Speaker 6: to see doctors, nurses and hospital staff. Heavenly Father, Lord,
- 37:32Speaker 6: I pray that you bless the staff, the hospitals, the doctors,
- 37:36Speaker 6: the nurses, the office workers, everybody involved in the health
- 37:39Speaker 6: care process. For Alice and his fiancee, Heavenly Father, I
- 37:42Speaker 6: pray that you bless them, Heavenly Father, Godly minds and
- 37:45Speaker 6: healing hands, Heavenly Father, Lord, bless them and bring peace
- 37:48Speaker 6: and comfort over them, Heavenly Father, and full healing in
- 37:51Speaker 6: your name, Father, Lord, I pray that this be a
- 37:54Speaker 6: transformative year for Alex Heavenly Father, and Lord, that you
- 37:57Speaker 6: bring him increase Heavenly Father, spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially.
- 38:02Speaker 6: Heavenly Father, thirty sixty one hundredfold blessings unto them, Heavenly Father,
- 38:06Speaker 6: I pray that you bless his mind, his heart, his ministry,
- 38:09Speaker 6: Heavenly Father, his work, and his financial being.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Heavenly Father.
- 38:13Speaker 6: Lord, I just ask you, the Lord, bring him the
- 38:15Speaker 6: cares and the joys of his heart. Heavenly Father, that
- 38:17Speaker 6: he may see an increase in his health, Heavenly Father,
- 38:21Speaker 6: may see an increase in the love of his home.
- 38:23Speaker 6: Heavenly Father, and Lord, I pray that the provision you
- 38:25Speaker 6: put unto him, Heavenly Father, is extended to all whom
- 38:29Speaker 6: he loves, Heavenly Father, all of his audience, Heavenly Father's
- 38:32Speaker 6: family and everyone.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Heavenly Father.
- 38:34Speaker 6: Lord, we thank you for this man in what you
- 38:36Speaker 6: have done for him through the medium he has here
- 38:39Speaker 6: with the podcast, Heavenly Father, pray it reaches those Lord
- 38:42Speaker 6: who need to hear a good word, Heavenly Father, a
- 38:45Speaker 6: word from you, a word of wisdom, heaven Father, and
- 38:48Speaker 6: a word of just blessings and respect and accountability and responsibility,
- 38:56Speaker 6: Heavenly Father. Lord, I pray the Lord that those who
- 38:59Speaker 6: are in need need of some level of encouragement, Heavenly Father,
- 39:03Speaker 6: that they are led to Alex in all that he
- 39:05Speaker 6: does here Lord and.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Providing for his audience.
- 39:08Speaker 6: Father Lord, we take Alex's health, we take his fiance's health,
- 39:12Speaker 6: We take his work, his podcast, his mind is.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Hard, his spirit is soul.
- 39:16Speaker 6: We take everything Lord that has been asked for on
- 39:20Speaker 6: this list, Heavenly Father, and we submit it into your
- 39:22Speaker 6: hands and to your authority.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Know it is done. For Lord, you said what we
- 39:26Speaker 3: ask for in your name. It is done. And for
- 39:28Speaker 3: that and all the love and blessings we've received, we
- 39:31Speaker 3: are so truly grateful.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Lord.
- 39:33Speaker 6: We love you, We thank you. We submit this into
- 39:36Speaker 6: your hands, into your authority, Heavenly Father. And anything that
- 39:39Speaker 6: is not of you, Heavenly Father, anything that is not
- 39:42Speaker 6: beneficial and according to your will, Heavenly Father, we place
- 39:45Speaker 6: it at your feet, at your altar at the cross, Father,
- 39:48Speaker 6: knowing that your grace is sufficient for all of our needs,
- 39:50Speaker 6: and your strength is made perfect and our weakness. Heavenly
- 39:53Speaker 6: Father and Lord, and we are so grateful. We love you,
- 39:56Speaker 6: We thank you and this and your mighty gracious and
- 39:58Speaker 6: loving Then we pray the beautiful name Jesus.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Amen.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Amen. Thank you so much, Amarkin for joining us on
- 40:07Speaker 2: one leg up to end the year and to begin
- 40:09Speaker 2: twenty twenty five.
- 40:11Speaker 6: Thank you, sir, appreciate you for having me on man
- 40:13Speaker 6: and bless you and your fiance and your podcast, and
- 40:15Speaker 6: we'll see you again.
- 40:16Speaker 2: So and before I let you go real quick, you
- 40:18Speaker 2: can follow a mard at if I got this rate,
- 40:21Speaker 2: I'm mard ah m ar d vital v I t
- 40:25Speaker 2: a l on Instagram and is that your ex as well?
- 40:29Speaker 2: On Twitter or what's your Twitter?
- 40:30Speaker 3: Everywhere?
- 40:32Speaker 6: It's some all vitall everywhere, YouTube everywhere, it's the same thing.
- 40:37Speaker 3: No, no surname, it's.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Just that all right, Amar, Thanks again, and enjoy the
- 40:41Speaker 2: rest of college football playoff and we'll see what we
- 40:45Speaker 2: have coming up toward the end of the month.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Here, all right, thank you, Alis, I appreciate you.
- 40:49Speaker 2: God bless you.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Here's your host Alex Garrett.
- 41:00Speaker 2: All right, well, as we sit here to end twenty
- 41:02Speaker 2: twenty four, how can we not do a Terminalo's take
- 41:06Speaker 2: to wind down the air? Am I right?
- 41:08Speaker 5: Louis Alex, you are correct. It's good to be with
- 41:13Speaker 5: you as we wind down twenty twenty four.
- 41:17Speaker 2: What a year, And I called it a transformative year
- 41:19Speaker 2: because personally I went from a hospital but in May
- 41:23Speaker 2: to like getting out there in the world. I think
- 41:25Speaker 2: that hospitation taught me a lot and transforming the sense
- 41:29Speaker 2: of not only just getting healthier, but just being out
- 41:31Speaker 2: there more. And I think that was excess this year.
- 41:33Speaker 5: So we learn everything from We learned something from every
- 41:37Speaker 5: experience that we have in life, positive and and negative.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Nobody wants to be in a hospital, but you do
- 41:45Speaker 5: learn from it and you realize how you prioritize being
- 41:49Speaker 5: as healthy as you can. So hopefully that do you
- 41:54Speaker 5: have a lot of good health in twenty twenty.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Five right absolutely into twenty twenty five. That's my hope
- 41:58Speaker 2: of gold and that includes sports covered as well. We'll
- 42:02Speaker 2: ramp that up also. But lou looking back in twenty four,
- 42:07Speaker 2: I mean, there's so many storylines. Where do you want
- 42:10Speaker 2: to start because I feel like this to be a
- 42:12Speaker 2: gear in review, and there's so much review. I would
- 42:15Speaker 2: say because baseball has been on our mind a lot
- 42:19Speaker 2: the last few months. I mean Otani's deal to set
- 42:21Speaker 2: the tone for the season. I mean, that was a
- 42:24Speaker 2: big thing, and you think it has ripple effects. Now
- 42:26Speaker 2: moving forward to the twenty twenty five well I do.
- 42:29Speaker 5: Obviously you know Otani's signing and he signed like two
- 42:34Speaker 5: weeks before the end of twenty twenty three. Uh, does
- 42:38Speaker 5: definitely has ripple effects. I mean, I don't think Soto
- 42:44Speaker 5: would have been offered seven sixty by the Yankees in
- 42:48Speaker 5: seven sixty five by the Mets if Otani had been
- 42:53Speaker 5: as hat signed for five hundred million dollars. So I
- 42:57Speaker 5: do think that finly has a ripple effect on everybody.
- 43:02Speaker 5: I mean, you even look at at some of these
- 43:05Speaker 5: some of these pitchers, Walker Bueller, a very talented right
- 43:11Speaker 5: hander who came through for the Dodgers at the end
- 43:15Speaker 5: of the World Series, but it is still a very
- 43:17Speaker 5: fragile injury situation with him signed for twenty one million dollars.
- 43:22Speaker 5: You know, it's one year, but I mean it's a
- 43:23Speaker 5: it's a lot of money. There's a lot of money
- 43:25Speaker 5: going out there. Sean Manaia had a good year for
- 43:28Speaker 5: the Mets, especially after the Mets turned around. In June,
- 43:32Speaker 5: signed a three year deal and the term isn't bad.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Twenty five million dollars. You know, we're forgetting how much
- 43:38Speaker 5: twenty five million dollars is. How much fifteen million dollars.
- 43:42Speaker 5: Of course, guys are now getting Soto's deals going to
- 43:45Speaker 5: average fifty one million dollars a year for the length
- 43:48Speaker 5: of his contract. Oh, Khani seventy million, Judge forty million.
- 43:53Speaker 5: We're forgetting that. You know, ten million, eleven million dollars
- 43:56Speaker 5: is a lot of money. And I mean, I think
- 44:01Speaker 5: that's really a top storyline, you know in baseball. Baseball
- 44:05Speaker 5: still hasn't solved the problem. Yeah, I know they have,
- 44:09Speaker 5: you know that they have the luxury tax situation, but
- 44:12Speaker 5: they haven't solved a competitive balance situation. They really haven't,
- 44:16Speaker 5: So I don't know if that's going to get worse
- 44:19Speaker 5: as time goes on. We'll never see a salary cap
- 44:23Speaker 5: in baseball. They've always been able to keep it out.
- 44:25Speaker 5: But that's what separates baseball from you know, from the
- 44:29Speaker 5: other sports. And you know, we've seen Manford trying these
- 44:32Speaker 5: these gimmicks and we've talked about them. We're not going
- 44:34Speaker 5: to beat them to death here now. Talking about possibly
- 44:37Speaker 5: his gold in that bat, which obviously was totally criticized
- 44:43Speaker 5: by everybody associated with baseball, whether it be a fan
- 44:46Speaker 5: and executive, whether it be somebody in the media. But
- 44:50Speaker 5: they tried, you know, they tried all these gimmick things,
- 44:54Speaker 5: which when you start gimmicking the sport, the sport becomes
- 44:57Speaker 5: a gimmick. So we'll see. So to me, that's a
- 45:00Speaker 5: big story. Soto to the Mets, huge story. I mean,
- 45:04Speaker 5: obviously a player going from the Yankees to the Mets,
- 45:08Speaker 5: even though he was there only one year, is big.
- 45:12Speaker 5: You know, the Mets taking soda away from the Yankees.
- 45:16Speaker 2: That, by the way, what is the difference between pinch
- 45:19Speaker 2: hitting and golden rule? I don't understand it.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Well, the gold in that bat was going to be Yeah,
- 45:26Speaker 5: we'll just make it real quick, so say in the
- 45:29Speaker 5: bomb of the eighth inning, and well, and we'll do
- 45:32Speaker 5: Yankees Mets. DZ comes in, the bases are loaded, one out,
- 45:40Speaker 5: DS strikes Judge out, two outs. So who bats behind Judge?
- 45:46Speaker 5: I think most of the time this year was Austin Wells.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Boone decides, you know what, I'm going to use my
- 45:53Speaker 5: one gold in that back to do it one time.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Judge stay up there. Judge gets a second chance to
- 46:00Speaker 5: a swing against Diz and maybe this time hits a
- 46:03Speaker 5: grand Slam, or hits a three run homer or hits
- 46:05Speaker 5: a single. That's what that's what it is. You can
- 46:08Speaker 5: you can use one player and you can put him
- 46:11Speaker 5: in at any time.
- 46:13Speaker 2: That totally would take away from the excitement of the sport, though,
- 46:15Speaker 2: because if you so, I got the big guy, that's
- 46:17Speaker 2: the whole point is.
- 46:18Speaker 5: That's that's right, Alex, that's right. That's exactly right. That
- 46:22Speaker 5: that that that's right. I mean, what a buzz kill.
- 46:25Speaker 5: You strike out, you strike out Otani, you strike out Judge,
- 46:28Speaker 5: you strike out Soto, you strike out Bobby but Jr.
- 46:31Speaker 5: But no, you know what, We're gonna keep him up
- 46:33Speaker 5: there for another at bat, and that relief pitcher is
- 46:35Speaker 5: going to have to go through that player again and
- 46:38Speaker 5: try to get him battle.
- 46:39Speaker 2: When people think a strike three call wasn't made, that
- 46:42Speaker 2: gave someone the opportunity to extuly get an extract back,
- 46:45Speaker 2: you know, that's right.
- 46:46Speaker 5: You're you're right. So so I mean, I I think
- 46:49Speaker 5: that you know that that that was that's a big,
- 46:51Speaker 5: a big story that you know, the high salary uh
- 46:55Speaker 5: Soto jumping eight miles uh uh from the Brons to Queens,
- 47:01Speaker 5: and I twit make for a very interesting basis.
- 47:02Speaker 2: And no, Atani winning the World Series is something major
- 47:05Speaker 2: League Baseball wanted for a long time. He's just going
- 47:08Speaker 2: to get it in the Angels, so I think him
- 47:10Speaker 2: switching to the Dodgers has given that opportunity. And you know,
- 47:13Speaker 2: though he wasn't especially against the Yanks, he wasn't as
- 47:16Speaker 2: prolific a home run here as as he was the
- 47:19Speaker 2: rest of the year. But but he did win a ring,
- 47:22Speaker 2: and I think major League Baseball and I certainly the
- 47:25Speaker 2: Dodgers were happy, but they sure are. Oh Tani was
- 47:28Speaker 2: a story. I mean that is just true. That twenty
- 47:30Speaker 2: was a story. In twenty twenty four next and.
- 47:33Speaker 5: In twenty twenty five, he's going to be in this
- 47:35Speaker 5: starting rotation, so that will intrigue. And he is the
- 47:39Speaker 5: number one brand, he's internationally famous, and you know, we'll
- 47:44Speaker 5: see but that that's that's my that's my big story
- 47:48Speaker 5: in baseball. I mean, if you're wrong, look at the NFL.
- 47:51Speaker 5: I mean locally, obviously we thought the Jets were going
- 47:54Speaker 5: to be We're going to be a very good team.
- 47:56Speaker 5: I did not think like some of these people that
- 47:59Speaker 5: they were Super Bowl bound. But I thought they would be,
- 48:03Speaker 5: you know, in the race right to the end. It's
- 48:06Speaker 5: like a ten and seventeen. There's a lot of reasons
- 48:09Speaker 5: why that didn't happen. Obviously, it's a disaster from the
- 48:15Speaker 5: get go, and you know now they're back to square
- 48:18Speaker 5: one like they've been so many times for the last
- 48:21Speaker 5: many decades.
- 48:22Speaker 2: But the bigger story everybody's watching is whether.
- 48:24Speaker 5: Mahomes can really do it again.
- 48:26Speaker 2: And let me tell you, they have been having the
- 48:28Speaker 2: most lucky wins in some circumstances this year. It's almost
- 48:33Speaker 2: it almost makes me wonder if going to twenty twenty
- 48:35Speaker 2: five they can get away with it in the postseason.
- 48:37Speaker 2: I know you say, don't bet against Mahomes, but these wins,
- 48:41Speaker 2: are they gonna fly in the playoffs? I don't know
- 48:44Speaker 2: if they will.
- 48:45Speaker 5: Louis Well, I think they're getting ready. I mean, the
- 48:48Speaker 5: last couple of weeks it seems like they have raised
- 48:53Speaker 5: their game. I thought they were gonna lose in Pittsburgh,
- 48:57Speaker 5: and they man handled Pittsburgh. Soon this week they will
- 49:02Speaker 5: rest almost everybody. They have a bye, and again they'll
- 49:09Speaker 5: be playing both games at get Arrowhead. I think that
- 49:12Speaker 5: gives them a great advantage if I'm not a betting man,
- 49:16Speaker 5: but right now and we'll talk about it before probably
- 49:21Speaker 5: next week as a playoffs start, I'm going to say
- 49:24Speaker 5: that they are. They are still, in my opinion, the
- 49:27Speaker 5: favorite to go to New Orleans and represent the American
- 49:31Speaker 5: Football Conference again in the Super Bowl. That that that
- 49:36Speaker 5: would be my uh.
- 49:37Speaker 2: By the way, and do you notice since the buzz
- 49:39Speaker 2: of Taylor and Travis has died down? I guess because
- 49:41Speaker 2: they're a normal couple. I guess you would say, no
- 49:45Speaker 2: one's noticing that Kelsey keeps breaking these records and we're
- 49:48Speaker 2: seeing that this year. He just keeps making a record
- 49:50Speaker 2: almost weekly, it feels like, so he's still doing his thing,
- 49:54Speaker 2: whether Taylor's at the ballpark or not.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Louis Well, he's obviously, he's a Hall of Fame tight end.
- 49:59Speaker 5: He he has great chemistry. As we've talked to in
- 50:01Speaker 5: the past with Mahomes, they know each other. They know
- 50:04Speaker 5: each other like the back of the hand, very much
- 50:06Speaker 5: like Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrews. That's a quarterback tight end.
- 50:10Speaker 5: The combination that's been effected for years and doesn't get
- 50:14Speaker 5: the same notoriety, mainly because Baltimore has failed in the postseason.
- 50:21Speaker 5: But that Jackson to Mark Andrews quarterback to tight end
- 50:26Speaker 5: chemistry combination is as as good as anybody's. So we'll
- 50:30Speaker 5: see and Alex this year. You know, you talk about MVPs.
- 50:33Speaker 5: I know I'm dan off to be pale a little bit.
- 50:37Speaker 5: You're talking about MVPs. I don't know who's the MVP
- 50:40Speaker 5: in the league. How can you vote? How can you
- 50:42Speaker 5: go against Lamar Jackson, who is better than ever? He
- 50:46Speaker 5: has improved his game.
- 50:48Speaker 2: But I haven't as simlingly had the year of his
- 50:51Speaker 2: life right now that he I only anybody expect them
- 50:54Speaker 2: to have, especially after losing Digs. But look what a
- 50:56Speaker 2: year he's created.
- 50:58Speaker 5: Well, Josh Allen is carrying a bill on his back.
- 51:02Speaker 5: Joe Burrow is carrying the Bills on his back on
- 51:06Speaker 5: his excuse me, he's carrying the Bengals on his back
- 51:09Speaker 5: on his shoulders. That is not a good team. The
- 51:12Speaker 5: fact that they go into Saturday Night with a chance
- 51:14Speaker 5: to get into the playoffs, yes, they're gonna need a
- 51:17Speaker 5: lot of help, so I don't think they'll get in.
- 51:19Speaker 5: He has had not a good year. He has had
- 51:21Speaker 5: one of the great years of quarterbacking and NFL history.
- 51:25Speaker 5: He's definitely an MVP candidate. Barkley is an MVP candidate,
- 51:30Speaker 5: Jared Goff is an MVP candidate. Sam Donald is an
- 51:34Speaker 5: NBA candidate, and you know what, I'm not gonna say candidate.
- 51:36Speaker 5: They're all candidates, but all these guys are MVP worthy.
- 51:40Speaker 5: If any one of those.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Guys would say Darcy that's right now because of the
- 51:44Speaker 2: turnaround he's had. I know, Golf and the Lions have
- 51:46Speaker 2: been unbelievable, but the Vikings went from you know, I
- 51:52Speaker 2: don't want to say mediocre against with Cousins, well they were.
- 51:55Speaker 5: They were seven and ten last year and they're fourteen
- 51:58Speaker 5: and two now, but.
- 51:59Speaker 2: To excellent with former jet as Sam Darnold, I think
- 52:02Speaker 2: he's gonna be the MVP. I just have it here
- 52:05Speaker 2: on that. But it's gonna be fun because I guess
- 52:08Speaker 2: the Lines and Vikings are duking it out now for
- 52:10Speaker 2: the number one or the Vikings have it right.
- 52:13Speaker 5: Now and they will play on They will play on
- 52:15Speaker 5: Sunday night in the last game of the year. I
- 52:17Speaker 5: believe it's game number two seventy two, and yes, both
- 52:22Speaker 5: teams are in the playoffs, but the winner, the winner
- 52:25Speaker 5: doesn't have to play the next week. And if I'm
- 52:28Speaker 5: the Detroit Lions whose defense is so battered, I think
- 52:32Speaker 5: they really need that we go off right now the
- 52:34Speaker 5: line to try and out score everybody. Even last night
- 52:37Speaker 5: against San Francisco, San Francisco, all beaten up, really had
- 52:41Speaker 5: no problem moving the ball up and down the field
- 52:43Speaker 5: against Detroit. Detroit's defense is really in bad shape. I
- 52:48Speaker 5: cannot say that they're going to be these the favorites
- 52:51Speaker 5: coming out of the NFC right now. They need to
- 52:55Speaker 5: win on a Sunday night to Troy really have a
- 53:00Speaker 5: good chance to get to New Orleans. In my opinion,
- 53:03Speaker 5: going in, I would say Philadelphia is the favorite.
- 53:09Speaker 2: So to be clear, Campbell is right to play all
- 53:13Speaker 2: his guys, right or is he wrong to play some
- 53:16Speaker 2: of these guys.
- 53:17Speaker 5: Campbell is one of those coaches who plays all his guys.
- 53:19Speaker 5: He played them all last night. He will play them
- 53:21Speaker 5: all this week as well. Kevin McConnell, O'Connell's done a
- 53:25Speaker 5: great job because they want to get that week. They
- 53:28Speaker 5: want to get that week off. I don't care what
- 53:31Speaker 5: you say, you know they say sometimes it's a little
- 53:33Speaker 5: rust if you get to buy you know what this
- 53:36Speaker 5: is football. The less games you have to play the
- 53:39Speaker 5: let's wear and tear on your body. The less of
- 53:42Speaker 5: an opportunity for a key offensive or defensive or golf
- 53:46Speaker 5: a bit a quarterback like Donald or Jared Goff get hurt.
- 53:51Speaker 5: I mean, one of those guys get hurt, They're done.
- 53:54Speaker 2: I'm about big one. You look them about the Lions
- 53:56Speaker 2: real quick. Didn't Montgomery have the league? Isn't he on
- 54:01Speaker 2: the rest of the season. He was their star running.
- 54:02Speaker 5: Back as he was Now they have depth at running back, uh,
- 54:06Speaker 5: and there's an outside chance he might be ready sometime
- 54:08Speaker 5: in the playoffs Montgomery. But the key thing is they
- 54:11Speaker 5: gotta get some of these defensive guys back. And they
- 54:14Speaker 5: might get Alex Ends alone back a key linebacker for
- 54:18Speaker 5: them for the playoffs, but they need more. They've had.
- 54:21Speaker 5: Not only was starting defensive players injured, the backups were injured.
- 54:25Speaker 5: So it's it's gonna be it's gonna be very, very difficult,
- 54:28Speaker 5: I think right now, depending on their health, uh, for
- 54:32Speaker 5: them to get to New Orleans.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Now, you know a team that I'm really excited to
- 54:35Speaker 2: see fans had before Washington because that's the I don't
- 54:41Speaker 2: care if they change the names or not. It's a
- 54:43Speaker 2: dynastics team. They had the era of Gibb and all that,
- 54:47Speaker 2: and they really just ran away from that until now.
- 54:49Speaker 2: And now there's finally excitement back in Washington. Isn't Washington
- 54:53Speaker 2: like one of those vintage teams you want to succeed
- 54:55Speaker 2: every year? I feel like it would be right.
- 54:57Speaker 5: Well, I don't care about Washington. I care I only
- 55:00Speaker 5: care about the teams I rooted for. But I watched
- 55:02Speaker 5: it that one of them. But you are one, right, Alex.
- 55:06Speaker 5: They were four and thirteen last year. They've gone through
- 55:08Speaker 5: a long, long period of being a non contender. You know,
- 55:12Speaker 5: I've gone from feign thirteen and uh, you know right
- 55:16Speaker 5: now they are eleven and five and uh, Jayden Daniels,
- 55:22Speaker 5: I mean, obviously a couple of weeks ago he had
- 55:25Speaker 5: fallen back into a group of a couple of guys
- 55:28Speaker 5: for Offensive Rookie the Year. Well, he's separated from that.
- 55:31Speaker 5: He's gonna win the Offensive Rookie the Year easily, and
- 55:34Speaker 5: after winning the Heisman Trophy last year, he has done
- 55:38Speaker 5: a great job in his first year. It'll be interesting
- 55:41Speaker 5: to see how far they go. But what a turnaround
- 55:43Speaker 5: here for one of the flags of franchises in the NFL,
- 55:46Speaker 5: like you just said, so, it'll be interesting to see
- 55:51Speaker 5: the kid's great.
- 55:53Speaker 2: That yeah, and we talk about the storyline of the
- 55:55Speaker 2: NFL was how these rookies were going to do of
- 55:58Speaker 2: all of them, and I'll actually both Nick's all so,
- 56:00Speaker 2: I had quite a season two for the Broncos, bringing
- 56:03Speaker 2: them to the playoffs. Back to the playoffs, I would say, so,
- 56:05Speaker 2: not a bad draft class for twenty twenty four, wouldn't
- 56:08Speaker 2: you say.
- 56:09Speaker 5: Alex, I agree, And uh, Caleb Williams had I think
- 56:14Speaker 5: he's still going to be good. I'm not putting this
- 56:16Speaker 5: on him. You know, I lost ten in a row.
- 56:21Speaker 5: But Caleb Williams, Daniels Nicks, Nicks who's gotten better every week.
- 56:31Speaker 5: And Drake May I know he didn't start from the
- 56:34Speaker 5: beginning of the year, which is probably a good thing.
- 56:37Speaker 5: His potential is outstanding and he'll be he'll be one
- 56:41Speaker 5: as we go into twenty twenty five to look at
- 56:45Speaker 5: as he goes through his second training camp, and he'll
- 56:47Speaker 5: be the starter from opening day. But yes, that was
- 56:51Speaker 5: a good draft class of quarterbacks. Unlike this year, we don't.
- 56:54Speaker 5: We have a lot of question marks it with these
- 56:57Speaker 5: with these quarterbacks coming.
- 56:58Speaker 2: In now before we get to the NHL and some NBA.
- 57:04Speaker 2: The storyline for me of all of twenty twenty four
- 57:08Speaker 2: was how much and I know that WNBA about how
- 57:11Speaker 2: much the WNBA was shaken up by Kaitlyn Clark and
- 57:15Speaker 2: just she was a storyline for the entire year. Would
- 57:18Speaker 2: you agree or no?
- 57:20Speaker 5: I would say that's one of the big stories in
- 57:22Speaker 5: twenty twenty four sports Kitlen Clark, no doubt about it. Yes,
- 57:28Speaker 5: the WNBA was rising, the arrow was pointing up, but
- 57:32Speaker 5: she had the arrow pointing quicker than anybody could imagine.
- 57:36Speaker 5: I can't. I really hate when people try to find
- 57:40Speaker 5: chinks in her armor. It's very I think that's very weak.
- 57:47Speaker 5: She's done more, not only for the WNBA, for women's
- 57:51Speaker 5: sports in a long time. I mean fantastic player and
- 57:56Speaker 5: the fantastic brand. And she's done what Jordan did uh
- 58:02Speaker 5: for the NBA in the eighties, after Bird and Magic
- 58:07Speaker 5: and doctor j did it in the early eighties. That's
- 58:11Speaker 5: what they do. You know, you just from now and
- 58:14Speaker 5: we look back, if w NBA continues on his trajectory,
- 58:18Speaker 5: we'll look at Klein Clark, who did this. I mean, yes,
- 58:22Speaker 5: there's other players, but there's been a lot of other
- 58:24Speaker 5: great players, but they didn't have the cache that that
- 58:28Speaker 5: Clark did close.
- 58:31Speaker 2: And I'm you're miss if I didn't say the local
- 58:33Speaker 2: storyline was the Liberty. I mean, they're the only championship
- 58:37Speaker 2: team of the entire city right now this year, so
- 58:42Speaker 2: of course they're the storyline. I mean, look what they've
- 58:44Speaker 2: done with Sabrina, I and s and Stewart and I mean,
- 58:48Speaker 2: what a what a crew to.
- 58:50Speaker 5: A super team? Yeah, a super team absolutely.
- 58:55Speaker 2: So, I mean I don't know if you have thoughts
- 58:57Speaker 2: on that, but I just thought, there that's the storyline
- 58:59Speaker 2: here in New York as they won.
- 59:00Speaker 5: And then well, if they did win the championship, obviously,
- 59:03Speaker 5: on the pecking order of teams in New York, you know,
- 59:06Speaker 5: they're probably at the very bottom as far as popularity
- 59:11Speaker 5: and the impact in New York. Obviously the two baseball
- 59:14Speaker 5: teams are the top two. So you know, so we'll
- 59:19Speaker 5: see there's still a young league, as you know, so
- 59:21Speaker 5: there's it's still just it's all in front of the
- 59:24Speaker 5: WNBA and the Liberty and all of the teams in
- 59:28Speaker 5: that league.
- 59:30Speaker 2: All right now. No on the local city line across
- 59:32Speaker 2: the way the entire thing. Then look, Baseball I know,
- 59:37Speaker 2: we go back to it. Yanks were in the World Series,
- 59:40Speaker 2: Mets were two games in the World Series. It's twenty
- 59:43Speaker 2: five years since the Subway Series. Do the shakeups that
- 59:47Speaker 2: both teams underwent this offseason? I mean, could we see
- 59:50Speaker 2: a Subway Series reprisal in twenty twenty five? Were we
- 59:54Speaker 2: almost there or what?
- 59:55Speaker 5: Yes? I would say so. A couple of things here.
- 59:58Speaker 5: The Yankees have a much easier path the American As
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: we sit here on New Year's Eves, the American League stinks.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: Let's face it, it stinks. The Cleveland Indians trade the
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: right side of their infield, of their all star second basement,
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: Andre Simonez, a young player, and a Trey Nahler, a
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: guy who was a power hit their first basement over
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: one hundred rbs. I have no idea why they did that.
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: You know, Uh, it's just a much easier path. You
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: look at the best teams in baseball, the Yankees, the Mets,
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: the Dodgers, the Phillies, the Braves, the Diamondbacks, the Padres.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: Where's where's an American League team? None?
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: No longer.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: Baltimore can't sign Corbyn Burns. They're not gonna be able to.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: They're not going to sign Santander their big offensive player.
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: Will they be able to sign Gunner Henderson in a
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: couple of years. That's a problem. And like I said,
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: the Pats or the Yankees to get to the World Series.
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: If they don't get to the World Series, that would
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: be a disappointment. Now in the Mets case, they're gonna
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: have to go through what they went through last year.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: They're gonna have to be They're gonna have to fight
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: the Braves and the Phillies in their division. They're going
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: to have to play the Braves and the Phillies and
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: the playoffs. For the Padres or the Dodgers's it's a
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: much tougher It's a much tougher road as we speak today.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: Now there's still six seven weeks to go before training camp.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: They can still be some roster changes to some of
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: these other teams. So we'll see. But as we sit
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: here today on New Year's Eve, yeah, the Yankees might
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: be in the World Series again and the Mets might
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: be the only thing. The Mets will have a much
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: much tougher road. And I think the Yankees did a
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: great job if they lost Son, No, you know, signing
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: Max Freed would I have given a thirty year old
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: picture eight years I wouldn't. But whatever Goldschmid, whatever he
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: gives them is a bonus, and he might be better
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: than he was last year, I know. I think getting
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: Devin Williams is going to solidify the bullpen. I think
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: the Yankees are doing great, in great shape, I really do.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: But it will be a very interesting baseball season, and
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: those two three games series between the Yankees and the
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Mets are gonna be are gonna be epic.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: It'll be like twenty five years ago because that energy
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: and even in the regular season.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Absolutely, I mean I think that was the.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Year that is at the homer against Clemens. Wasn't that
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: two thousand or was that ninety nine?
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I'm forgetting that that was two thousand and one oh one,
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: But of course two thousand of the Piazza hitting the
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: head and then of course the bat thrown at him.
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: I mean, what a wild year it was. Yeah.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Also, that was the year they had a day night doubleheader,
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: one inn Yankee and one in Shay Stadium.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: I went to the one at Shay. I did not
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: go to the one at night, the one where Piazza
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: got deamed.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: We definitely went up to both games because my dad
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: and I were like that, you know, we just showed
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: up one last thing though, and I feel like the
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Knicks are ending twenty four great. But I want to
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: get to the hole that the Jets and Giants do
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: leave us. They leave us with not knowing when a
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: head coaches the Jets do anyway, I don't know what
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: the Giants are going to do. They leave us with
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: the whole of what they're going to do for quarterback.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: I think that's the biggest You're.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: Right, Alex, what what what's gonna what each team is
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: going to do for quarterback? For the Jets, who's going
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: to be their coach? Is there is they're going who's
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: going to be their general manager?
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: You know that's that's going to uh predicate everything what
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: they do. You know a lot of people say, hey,
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: bring Rogers back because the other the free agents out there,
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: as far as quarterbacks go, none of them are effected
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: With the Giants. The Giants need a lot of need
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: a lot of roster help, they need a quarterback. And again,
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: the fact that people are upset that the Giants won
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: on on some days nonsense, because as I've told you
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: a thousand times. Uh, players and coaches don't care about
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: draft picks and tanking in the NFL because most of
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: those guys aren't going to be on the team next
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: year anyway, and they want to play well, get get
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: get on film. So next year if the Giants, if
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: they're not on the Giants, some team in the league
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: will say, you know what, that guy did a nice job,
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: let's bring him in. So that's what it's all about.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: And and I think they're gonna have to find a
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: guy that's gonna be right to Malik because I think
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: they're gonna want to build around malink neighbors. There's no
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: doubt about that.
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: Well, again, you don't build around a wide receiver. But Elik,
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: he's a difference maker. You're one hundred right. And Uh again,
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: who's going to be the quarterback for the Jets? Who's
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: going to be the quarterback for the Giants? I don't know,
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: I really don't know. I mean, it all depends on
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: on who's the coach and droll manager. Obviously, the knee
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: jerk reaction of firing Sala. Obviously nobody's going to confuse
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: Robert Sala with Visulambardy or Bill Park sells. But the
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: timing when they fired him totally totally sunk the Jets
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: season because I'm written knee jerk reaction by an owner
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: and all these owners, you know, they're, oh, Willie Johnson's
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: a bad owner. Well, you know what the Spano's family
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: with the Charges forever, I've been bad owners, been bad owners.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: They're not going to get Harbor or Harbor won't want
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: to go there because they're a bad owner. Look what
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: Harbor has done for Los Angeles chargers who were five
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: and twelve last year and with less offensive talent, with
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: less offensive talent, are going to be a pain in
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: the butt, not only this year but for years to come.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: He's a great coach. He's exactly what the New York
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: Jets needed. So we'll see. I had a feeling that
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: Jets are going to do this quick. I think this
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: is going to happen within the first ten days of
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: twenty twenty five.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: I agree, all right, Uh oh, it's five o'clock today
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: here in New York. They share the same arena, and
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: let's just whip around that for a second. Yep, biggest
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: story lane for the Knicks has no longer become that
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: they were ousted in seven games by the Pacers. But
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: that they got Carl Anthony made an incredible, incredible difference
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: in this team. I mean, kat Is the difference is
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: the story line of twenty twenty four.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: What didn't you say for the Knicks?
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: Well, I think you just look at you look at
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: the Knicks a year and a half ago. They a
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: couple of years ago they signed this is his third
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: year with the team. They signed Bronson. Okay, he was
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: looked at as a good point guard, nothing spectacular. Well
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: since last year he's been a superstar and he's developed
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: his game for somehow, and you know, we've talked about it.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: Nixon Nets never made a trade. They didn't even talk
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: to each other, and somehow, all of a sudden, they
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: traded best player to their number one rival, both business
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: rival and on the court for five number one draft picks.
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: Strange to me, you know, maybe we can get Bobby
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: Marks on one day, the old Nest's assistant general manager,
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: my old coworker, and we could talk. We could talk
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: about that, they get him. And then seven or eight
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: days before training camp opens, the Minnesota Timberwolves, who came
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: within an eyelash of getting to the conference finals, and
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: obviously we're going to be good for a great number
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: of years. Trade trade Karl Anthony Towns and there was
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: really no explanation given why they traded him. He's not
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: a bad kid, he's his contract, there was no contract issues.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: They trade him to the Knicks. Well, obviously he's been
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: fantastic for the next he leads the league in rebounding.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: He's an MVP candidate, and the Knicks have had had
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: even though they had an easy schedule in December, Alex,
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: they crush most of these teams. You know, they're not
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: messing around a Thiboeau doesn't mess around as coach.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: They all like they're averaging at least hundred twenty points
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: a game right now?
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: For me, well, yeah, and it's an NBA. It's an
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: offensive NBA era, which again I come from a different
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: era of NBA. But they are they're they're deep, and
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: it's going to be very interesting. I mean, obviously I
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: think they have a chance to get to at least
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: a conference final, depending on the brackets.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: The Nets, that's your that's your team you work for
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: for what twenty eight years or so, I mean, tell
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: us about your Nets, what's going on.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: Well, they just traded two more guys because they're winning
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: too many games. And that's an NBA problem, an NBA
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: problem that I hate. And it's not only a new
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: NBA problem. It was an NBA problem even when when
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: I was in the league. I mean in the mid eighties,
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: the Houston Rockets tanked to get Ralph Samson, which led
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: to the lottery. There was no lottery before that. They tanked,
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: have the worst strike in the league. Now the Nets
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: are tanking to make sure they get into the top
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: to the top three or top four.
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: They traded Dennis Schroeder, a very good a very good guard,
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: a total professional, a leader to the Lakers, I mean
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: to the Warriors. They traded Finney Smith to the Lakers,
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: a good defender, a guy who hit the three. He's
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: going to help the Lakers a lot. And then the
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: Nets got the Angelo Russell back on an expiring contract,
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: which means they're not going to resign him next year.
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: This is all about, This is all about the summer
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: of twenty five for the Nets. I'm glad that I'm
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: on a season ticket holder. I'm glad that I don't
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: have to pay these ridiculous sums of money to go
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: to a game, and I'm going to do, Alex. Thirty
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: nine percent of NBA players this year, NBA starters have
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: missed at least one game. The fact that these NBA
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: players do not play every game is a modern disaster
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: in my opinion. Michael Jordan never missed the game. Julius
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: Serving never missed the game. We talked about a thousand times.
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: I'm not going to bring it up again.
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: I remember there was one point where they were going
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: to start to find the NBA teams for not putting
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: out their stars or all that at one point.
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: Well it is and uh you know, especially for you
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: know all these now on all these national TV deals.
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: Oh you go, you go home, like in the old days,
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: you go home to watch the Celtics play the Pistons,
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: and you want you're gonna see McHale and Byrd and
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: Robert Parrish against Isaiah Thomas and uh Bill Lambert Beer
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: and Rick Mahorn and Vinnie Johnson. You know, it's it's different.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: But that the fact that the nets for tanking, Alex
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: Gon be honest with you, I'm a I really have
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: put them on the back burner. Right now. I'll you
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: visit that in the offseason. We'll see what they do.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: That is rough well in the and then also in
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: the garden you had the Rangers and hockey ur WHI
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: should really end. I know we could talk college football playoffs,
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: but we'll we'll recap as we get to the national championship.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: How we talk I think about that because that's too
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: much to intercept to dissect right now, round by round.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Let's wait disease in the title game and go from there. Louis,
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: But I think.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: The most dramatic storyline of twenty twenty four in New
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: York City, I guess nationally, because they were the whole
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: ice team all of last playoffs.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: Right are the Rangers?
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: You had steps away from the Stanley Cup Final to
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: this disaster class almost not just every once, every every
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: game now, and that's just shocking. They have a lot
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: of the guys from last year. So is this a
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: cultural problem? What's going on the locker room? I mean,
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: what's going on here?
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: Louis?
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: It's Alex. It's really mind boggling to me because they
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: have they have veteran players, they have a deep team,
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: they have great goaltending, they have their roster of defensemen
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: should be good. But we saw it early on when
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: they got off to that twelve to four and one start,
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: and Sorokan bailed them out of those lot of those games.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: But you figure it, Okay, it's the start of season.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: You know they'll tighten up. Well they didn't, and you
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: know they there's just too much, too much periods of
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: horrendous play. Their power play which was lethal, which was lethal,
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: is is nowhere. I mean, it's it's so it's become
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: so weak with the same guys, Krider, it's a banaj
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: ed panerin Adam Fox. The last night they dropped as
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: Abanajead to the second power play and then put La
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: Froniera and lot for a year after signing his contract.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: Has had a bad year after having a very good
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: walk year last year. Uh. Do the Rangers still have
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: a shot to get back in it. Yes, they're only
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: seven points out of a playoff spot. I can't believe
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: I'm saying that they just let's see what happens between
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: now and the Foreign Nations break when they have that,
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: that that two week break for the tournament in mid
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: in mid February happens. But I'm gonna make a prediction.
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: I think I think Lavolett might get fired.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: I think it is a good chance he might have
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: very wants to quit. Also, I don't know if that's true.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: Okay, I didn't hear that, But you know, there comes
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: a point where, especially a veteran coach, a guy who's
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: coaches Stanley Cup championship team like he did in Carolina,
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: the guy who's been around in all kinds of different situations,
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: know when he's not getting through to the players anymore.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: And sometimes that's when they he'll might resign, just walk out.
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: They know that's a jury problem.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: I feel like that the jury issue as well, isn't it.
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: I think it is. I think it is. I think
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: the fact that he leaked that everybody was available.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Was bad.
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: The fact that he didn't handle the tuber situation in
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: the summertime and did it after the season began. Looking back,
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: that's that was something I've probably hurt the team. And
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: you know, Sarrogan's not going to value out every night.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: That's not me, Egor, you're talking about the Island.
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm getting him confused. With his Russian counterpart
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: and good friend, uh Shasterkin's not going to bail him
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: out every night. And if I said Sorogan earlier, I misspoke.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: But Igor Ssterkin, great player, he's not going to bail
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: him out every night.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: Well, they locked him up for this eight year deal
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: middle of the season, I think to put everything at ease,
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: and then you know.
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: And that's not to say that that back far yet.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Out No, no, no, I'm saying I'm glad he stayed though.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: I think that's a really good sighting. It's not going
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: to backfire. I think he's the future of the Rangers,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: so in.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: That absolutely, he's the young kid.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: But were you surprised that been this season and rather
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: than wait till the offseason.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: I don't think truly wanted to get that far. That's
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: what I think. I think he just wanted to get
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: Latona signed and moved on. So so we'll see. They're
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: not dead yet. But really, I mean, you look at
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: them and you said this team won the Presidence Trophy
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: last year. It's almost hard to believe it's the same
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: roster with the same coach.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Well, we'll have to see what happens, but for now, Louis,
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: it's been an eventful twenty twenty four this show continues
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: to take off every week, and I think adding a
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: LinkedIn component where we put on LinkedIn almost every week
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: has helped grow the show. What did you say?
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: I would say, I'm looking forward to doing some things
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: to make it grow even more in twenty twenty five.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: And I appreciate you always including me on a weekly basis.
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: I enjoyed very much talking sports and talking sports with you,
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: And again I can't I can't thank you enough Alex
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: for having me on as on a weekly basis.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: Well, Lou, love you man, Happy and blessed New Year,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: and let's do this all again in twenty twenty five,
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: shall we.
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: I'm looking forward to where a lot of good things
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: happen in twenty twenty five. Really, I really feel good
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: about it.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: Me too, Amen to that. All right, Turbo, those take
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: for the last time in twenty twenty four.
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: Did we review everything? I think we reviewed everything here.
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: I think we're all separate. Yeah, I mean, obviously there's
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: there's a lot of things with the review, but we
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: could then then the podcast would be twenty four hours, so.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Exactly all right, Maybe dissect more as we go into
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, but for now, this is the Final Terminal's.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Take of twenty twenty four. Thanks for joining, Louis.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: Alex, thank you so much for Happy new hear to
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: you and Gabby.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: A few other folks I should say thank you to
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: is Nithan who continually reposts all the content out there
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: on my ex on my Instagram. So appreciative of the
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: NR Hour and so appreciative of Jake Cosak and his
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: friendship and mentorship. Anna Ray, I thank you guys before

- 1:17:44Speaker 2: shout them out as well for being part of this
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: network as well as as well Nestor Cortes. Pretty special
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: to have those two Yankees on as well as a
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: mob Bradshaw of the Giants of Super Bowl and of
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: course meeting Major League mad Mes and Eisen was awesome.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: And of course my colleagues at AM nine seventy the

- 1:18:31Speaker 2: their mentorship and their guidance all year long and may
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: continue in twenty twenty five, bigger and better. Thanks for everything,
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: and we've made it, everybody to a quarter of a
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: century twenty twenty five. Here we come on the one
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: like a network
