This year’s CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore smashed records, pulling in over $33 million and packing 22 games with 33,000 fans — a 36% jump from last year. The event’s success, spotlighting HBCUs and student athletes, led to a new 5-year contract keeping it in Baltimore through 2029. Over 1,600 local jobs were created, generating $6.7 million in income, while visitors spent $17 million at hotels, restaurants, and shops — with nearly 10,000 staying overnight.
