- 0:04SPEAKER_04: Well, hey everybody.
- 0:05SPEAKER_04: Welcome to yet another exciting episode of the Steve and Jeff Experience Podcast.
- 0:10SPEAKER_04: I'm Steve.
- 0:11SPEAKER_04: And I'm Jeff.
- 0:11SPEAKER_04: How's it going, Steve?
- 0:13SPEAKER_04: Jeff, it is going so great.
- 0:14SPEAKER_04: You know, that that that show where we read the emails, that was that's such a hit.
- 0:19SPEAKER_04: We got so many more emails.
- 0:20SPEAKER_04: We got to do another one.
- 0:21SPEAKER_04: We got enough emails to do two more shows, probably.
- 0:24SPEAKER_04: It's incredible.
- 0:25SPEAKER_04: The response.
- 0:26SPEAKER_04: Now, yeah, okay, you know, most of them are like collectors, or one guy said, Don't hire Phil, he's a bum.
- 0:32SPEAKER_04: But but but I digress.
- 0:33SPEAKER_04: But we got a lot of emails, but but oh Jeff, it's going so well, and we're getting such good press.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Well, and it's cool when you get emails.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: I mentioned to you before that um oftentimes people, you know, when they have time to think collect their thoughts, um, they can communicate a little better.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: And I felt like we really got a feel for the people who are listening to the show.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: And for the most part, except for the uh the prison audience, yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Um, I feel really good about it.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: And even with those guys, you know what?
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Prisoners are people too.
- 1:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, we we have so many fans at Stateville and Joliet.
- 1:09SPEAKER_04: I I think maybe we should do a remote broadcast.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: We should do a show there someday.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: I mean maybe during Halloween.
- 1:16SPEAKER_04: Hey, oh yeah, they do it up nice at Halloween, yeah.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: They really do a good job.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: It's a scary, I mean it's a scary place any day of the year, but uh Halloween is even worse, you know?
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: You know, yeah, yeah, completely.
- 1:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, but Jeff, but Jeff, today, today we have a very special guest, someone really, you know, and you know, Jeff, I'm I'm from the future, as you know, but this is somebody that's gonna take us all to our past.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: We've got we've got in our studio, and you know, they told me not to tap the glass, but gotta tap it one more time because on the other side of that glass in that studio, you probably recognize her.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: You know, she's aged a couple years since you last saw her, but that is is that who I think that is.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: That is my mother.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: That is my mother on the other side of that glass.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: Hi, mom.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: How are you doing?
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I'm doing well today, Steen.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I I can't can you you can you can't wait, you can't see my house coat.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Can you?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You can't see my house coat, right?
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: No, it's uh the house coat it I I can see like the very top, it's like the little fringe around the neck.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: That's uh that's it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_04: That's it.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: But I wore the necklace that you gave me last year.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: I wore it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: I wore it for today.
- 2:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, thanks, mom.
- 2:27SPEAKER_04: See, she's she's nice that way.
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: Dad is so nice.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: I think that's excellent.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: So would you like me to can I call you mom?
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Because my mom's been gone for a while.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: It just feels feels good and feels right.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: If you don't mind, can I call you mom too?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: It makes me a little uncomfortable.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, I mean, she's not everyone.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Can I call you dad?
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Can I call you dad?
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I I feel like we're moving into uncomfortable territory, even here.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: How about just call me Gladys?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Just call me Gladys.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: That's what most of my friends call me.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's because it that is if that's my first name.
- 3:02SPEAKER_04: That's yeah, she never, yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: You might not remember her as Gladys because she's really she never went by Gladys, but she got older, she figured Gladys was okay.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: There wasn't anything ashamed, so yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Can I can I reduce that to Glad or G?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: I probably won't answer you if you do.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, okay.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Gladys it is then.
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, it's a generational thing, you got to use the full name with uh maybe I should have given you my last name.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: I'm really having a lot of regrets already, but the necklace looks good, I think.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: Isn't that yeah?
- 3:37SPEAKER_04: You know, I got that.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: I was at uh I was at this uh circle K and they had these things, and I I thought, oh mom would love that, and so I got it at a circle K for her.
- 3:47SPEAKER_04: And they have good stuff there, they do, really good stuff, yeah.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, they never have my name on the keychains either, they don't spell it right, so I just don't even try anymore.
- 3:59SPEAKER_04: No, they don't, they don't, they don't have any of those classic names, they've all got like Devin or Sean, they don't have like Gladys or Pete or Roger, just those classic names, or Pete or Pete, yeah.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, see, or mom, mom's a little forgetful sometimes, but yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:19SPEAKER_04: But so, mom, listen, I you know, I know it's been a while since I visited.
- 4:23SPEAKER_04: I really meant to, you know, and I was gonna come and get some of that, some of your uh mac and cheese.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: Oh, she makes the best mac and cheese.
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, Jeff.
- 4:30SPEAKER_04: Oh man, it's so good.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: I don't remember when I came to your house, Steve, her doing a lot of cooking, but uh I'll take your word for it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: But I always had good feelings about your mom, you know, she just she clearly loves you a lot, uh, probably more than it seemed like would than your sister, you know.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, she's there's something going on there.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a true statement.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I didn't, you know what?
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I her stuff is still down in the basement, but you Steven, I will tell you all of your My Little Ponies, I boxed them up and I made sure to put your name on the box.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: You when you come for mac and cheese, you take your ponies with you this time.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Oh, you still got my ponies?
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Oh mom, she's the greatest, isn't she?
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: Wow, that is so nice, you know.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: See, a lot of guys wouldn't cop to being a my little pony fan or a brony, as they sometimes call them.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: But but see, I don't mind because my mom's behind me.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: I don't care.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: There was that one time when I caught you smelling your sister's strawberry shortcape dolls.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: That felt like you had moved into really uncharted territory, Stephen.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: So what was I saying?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: That there was something about Pete.
- 5:53SPEAKER_04: Sniffing uh doll named Pete, I think.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, oh, I was sniffing the uh strawberry shortcake dust.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they used they used to smell those dolls, used to smell, yeah, but like good things, not like like not like like other things, right?
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they smelled good, and I you know, but mom, I that's people might think that's a little weird if I'm you know, if we say that on the radio this way, like in a podcast that I'm that's gonna be recorded and and millions are gonna listen to for years, and they now know that I smelled dolls when I was a kid.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Wow, that's they might you stop smelling them though, Steven?
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: Well, no, no, no, I I like them still.
- 6:30SPEAKER_04: I I have a bunch.
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: In fact, I I I got one right here.
- 6:33SPEAKER_04: Here, let me here.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: I uh oh man, it's so good.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Oh well, and I I don't know if we really have to worry too much about people thinking Steve's weird sense, and this is a good time to bring it up, Steve.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: If you aren't going to, I was going to the family car.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Um yes, in a previous uh a few other discussions with Steve and some private discussions.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Steve had a um an emotional and physical attachment to uh the family car, which was it a Chevy, Steve?
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh mom, you remember that 65 impala that you had?
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, you know, I you you threw up in that back seat twice, Steve.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: And I'm yeah, see, I was I I used to get car sick as a kid, you know.
- 7:20SPEAKER_04: And so I kind of got over it, sort of, but but oh mom, that car got the sleek lines on that car.
- 7:26SPEAKER_04: It just it it did something to me, mom, you know, and it you know, like smelling the dolls doesn't even seem unusual compared to that car, you know.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Well, it sounds like you did a lot more than just smell that car.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Well, but uh yeah, well, I digress.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: But you digress.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Stephen, you you borrowed that car a lot, Stephen.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: What were you doing in it?
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, I we'd go out and you know, in parks and quiet areas and just kind of be together.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: You didn't go to a rest, Steven.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: That's not safe.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: We well, one time we did go to a rest stop, yeah.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: You and your car?
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah, and just you and your car.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: There were a lot of people around, so we had to wait a while, but you know, yeah, it was it was a little weird, yeah.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: So, Gladys, I think we should do some fact checking here because I know Steve fairly well, but you know him a whole lot better, and maybe you could kind of give the audience a better sense of who Steve is.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: When did Steve first become completely potty trained?
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Um, let's see.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: You said completely potty trained because we had a few false starts.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: We thought he had it at two, thought we he had it at three, had a conversation about how things were not going well.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: I remember that by four and a half or five by the time he left for first grade, I was fairly confident nothing was gonna happen during the school day.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Wow, wow.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Well, Steve, that's way ahead of me.
- 8:59SPEAKER_04: And and you know, defined complete because I, you know, I sometimes wonder if I ever got there.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: But but but I digress, but yeah, I mean I was Stevie, that's fine.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: You don't apologize for your shortcomings.
- 9:11SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: See, there you go.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: See, mom's the best, isn't she?
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: Look at that.
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: That is oh, mom, thank you, thank you, mom.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're so welcome, Stevie.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: Does now my sister, you know, might be might be listening to the podcast.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: So she has now just heard that she's not the favorite.
- 9:28SPEAKER_04: But mom, I I think she already knew she wasn't the favorite, you know what I mean?
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think she did your sister.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Your sister knows she's not the favorite, she's earned that over time.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: No, I I she would she always used to say, she'd say, Steve, I'm not the favorite.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: No, and I would say, No, but she was she figured it out.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: She figured it out when she was just a little kid.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: No, she knew.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Well, and and you know, that can happen when you're dealing with adoption.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: So, you know, when you have a a sister who was a does does she know she was adopted, Steve?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Wait, my sister was adopted.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: I thought that was pretty common knowledge.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: No, I could be I could be completely wrong.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: No, this is this sounds right.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: This actually explains a lot.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, that explains why you know.
- 10:18SPEAKER_04: I always wondered why she didn't look a thing like us.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: She didn't look like anybody.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: You know how how families always say they'd get out these old pictures, say, Oh, you look like Uncle Fester, you look like uh whatever, you know, grandpa Jake.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: Nobody all these pictures, she look like anybody, nobody.
- 10:33SPEAKER_04: It's like who is yeah?
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: Well, I feel bad.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: I you know, I may have let the the cat out of the bag here, but again, this is all about honesty, all about sharing.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And if this helps, you know, explain some things to your sister, I think that uh in the long run she'll be better off for it.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, she never knew, did she, mom?
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: I don't think I don't think she knew.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: It's hard to say because she was a couple feet older or a couple feet taller than the rest of us, yeah.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: I think that was weird too.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Because she joined the family at like 14.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: I feel like she had some suspicions, but again, she was smarter than the rest of us.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't say she was really smart.
- 11:19SPEAKER_04: Well, and and you know, define smart, really.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: I mean, what do we mean?
- 11:23SPEAKER_04: When we say smart, what do we mean?
- 11:25SPEAKER_04: Do we mean brilliant?
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Words, right?
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: I don't know, Stevie.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: It's just a word, yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: It's just a lot of and it's used as a cheap word, too, you know, because yeah, because look, just because you you get held back in school three or four times doesn't mean you're not smart, yeah, it's fine, you know, and sometimes they call you fine when you're really not fine.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: And uh to me, it works both ways, where it's just it's a bad word, it's a word that I'm not sure I even understand.
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: But yeah, you know, you know that that now I understand why she was older than me, but I finished high school first.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: And I always wondered about that.
- 12:06SPEAKER_04: I was like, wait, how'd that happen?
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Now I know that's math, even we you've never been good at math.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: It's okay, it's okay.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: You just embrace those shortcomings.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: It's like when we found out that you were allergic to nuts, bananas, and chicken, and we were like, fine, then we will just eat mac and cheese for every meal.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: We just will, and it's good mac and cheese, too.
- 12:32SPEAKER_04: Oh man, I wish I had some of that mac and cheese right now, mom.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: You didn't bring any, did you by any chance?
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: I have there's a crock pot in the break room.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Crock pot in the break room.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: You're the best.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: I know I made it this morning with my coffee.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, that with the best, mom.
- 12:49SPEAKER_04: And I bet I bet some of those little cookies too.
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: And I bet she even has like napkins and forks and all that, all that stuff, you know, stuff that I don't remember that stuff.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: Napkin.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: I used my sleeve, you know, but hey, she probably has all that stuff, you know.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: I didn't, I forgot napkins.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: You can use my sleeve, Stevie.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you, mom.
- 13:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that sleeve of that house dress.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, I wiped my mouth on that many a time.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: I think after I got sick in the car one time, I think I did that, if I remember correctly.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Stevie, that's so true.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: You're a good boy, Stevie.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: You always washed your face.
- 13:21SPEAKER_04: I did, I always wanted to be clean, you know, even when I wasn't.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's it was always important, you know.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Steve, it's funny because we just got done hearing from my father, you know, who was dead, at least to me, for many years and turns out to be alive and and still as feisty and supportive as always.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: And yeah, and now now you have your mom on our show, and I just feel like we're we're going back to our roots.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: I think that's really important.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: I think that's what makes this show wonderful.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: I think that's really our strength is we're we're all about the basics, we're all about the family, we're all about the roots, we're all about the core values, and and that's why we're gonna be the biggest podcast out there, not that comedian MMA fighter guy.
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no, no, not him.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: No, we're gonna be a much bigger podcast than him, and and as if to prove that, Jeff, we got a lot more to talk about with my mom, but we got to take a little break here because Jeff, we got a new sponsor, and wow, you know, and and it's your dad.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Is it your dad?
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: Well, no, no, no, no, he didn't want to spend the money, but but I digress.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: But remember in a couple shows ago, we had the Uber driver on and we talked about doing Uber stuff, then we had Uber as a commercial.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: Well, you remember in that I think it was in that same show.
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: We had a commercial for a dating service for Fumble, you know, the dating service for guys, right?
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: Remember we had that?
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: Well, other dating services heard of that ad.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: We it's so popular, they heard that ad and they wanted to get in on it too.
- 14:52SPEAKER_04: So we have we have another ad from a dating service.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: So, Jeff, let's uh go to commercial.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: Have you tried all the dating services but still not found your perfect match?
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: Maybe your perfect match lived thousands of years ago.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: Billions of perfect matches have died over the millennia, but should that prevent you from finding true happiness now?

- 16:14SPEAKER_04: I always wanted to date a Hittite, but I could I couldn't find it.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: You know what?
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: So, Steven, with I'm I'm not sure if this is the best way to tell you this, but your father and I, things are not going well.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: So I how do I get the login for the for the for the for the reaper?
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: I I want to I want the login for the reaper.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, I think I think it's just okreaper.com.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: And I just I just put that like I do I just write that on some.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Can I just eat can I put that in a mailbox?
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you do that.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: You you do that on the email, and then you go to the uh AOL.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Oh no, hang hang on.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm writing this down.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: I need to write it down.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: I'll write it.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: So I just and and I can just mail it to them and they'll send me all the information.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Like, will they send me a picture?
- 17:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, they mail it, they mail it back, they'll mail you a video, and you can like see these ancient people.
- 17:12SPEAKER_04: It's it's really cool.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: I I talked to the guy a little bit.
- 17:15SPEAKER_04: I figure, you know, being from the future, I have several millennia to think about.
- 17:19SPEAKER_04: So I thought, well, I better figure out what this is.
- 17:21SPEAKER_04: I may, I may want to use this someday, you know what I mean?
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: You don't know, you don't know that that one that woman of yours, she may not stick around.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: You gotta have a plan B, Stevie.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: You gotta have a plan B.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah, and and mom, I'm sorry to hear about that.
- 17:36SPEAKER_04: It's not going well with dad.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: It's uh it's the drinking, isn't it?
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've been doing a lot of it.
- 17:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh me too.
- 17:43SPEAKER_04: But yeah, it's too bad.
- 17:44SPEAKER_04: If dad only would only join us, things would probably be better.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: That's probably you should have a conversation with your father.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, maybe we could get him on one of these days too.
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: That would be see, I don't know.
- 17:54SPEAKER_04: I don't think he likes to do this though.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: He's not doing anything.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: You if he's not mowing the grass, he's available, and even then, he's out there with the trimmer for 40 minutes.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Who takes 40 minutes to trim the yard?
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: It's a postage stamp, Stevie.
- 18:10SPEAKER_04: You know, I think mom, I think for the for him, I think the yard is kind of like that 65 in pala was for me.
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: No, I have no idea what you're talking about, Stevie.
- 18:21SPEAKER_04: Well, it's you should probably look for a a match with that okay reaper, you know.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Hittite, that's the way to go.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: I I'm liking the Hittites, but uh some people prefer the Aztecs, you know.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: I they were they had some wild parties, I I have heard.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: So I don't have a lot of energy these days, Stevie.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: I'm looking for somebody who's just gonna be maybe there's a pharaoh or something I might be able to just hang out with.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Well, I think you should aim higher than pharaoh.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Uh fair sounds too low for you because you sound like a sensational woman, and uh she is, Jeff.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: And probably has had a wonderful uh has had a wonderful life, which brings me to another question about Steve.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: So is Steve is Steve's father really his father, or have you had affairs and possibly Steve doesn't even know his father?
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, this again.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: I I I had sorry, Steve.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: I just you know I suspect that about myself.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: There are some nights that are a little blurry.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think you look at Steven, you look at his father.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: I did a side-by-side comparison.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm 82% confident.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: I think that's a good statistic.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: It's a B minus.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: I think Steven is the B minus to his father.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: I I and and you know, I I bet if we did a DNA sample, let's not do a DNA sample, Steven.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't think we should, but if we did, I bet it'd be at least 50.
- 19:51SPEAKER_04: And you know, that's 50 plus one, man.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: You're in, right?
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: So let's so you don't eat why even waste the money, like you take that that the money you would have spent on the kit.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe you go mini golfing.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, mini gol.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: I'd love mini golf.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: We used to we used to go all the time, mom.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Remember that?
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: We'd go out, we'd do mini golf, and you'd give me a cigarette occasionally, you know.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: It was it was it was a lot of fun.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Only only if you got par.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: I had to earn that cigarette, but oh, I would putt so carefully, I'd say, Mom, mom, give it to me now.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, only seventh hole.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: You know, we got two more to go, you know.
- 20:27SPEAKER_04: Come on.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: High standards, Steve.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: We've got high standards we gotta uphold.
- 20:31SPEAKER_04: That's that's one of the things I learned from mom is just rules are important, and it's important to have a system, you know, kind of like we have a system with this with this podcast, you know what I mean?
- 20:40SPEAKER_04: And that's why it's so successful.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: I love the relationship between the two of you.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: There's obviously a lot of love there.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Steve obviously is a well-balanced person.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: So, my next question is Did you spank him when he was a child or as an adult?
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, of course.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: I I think good to know is a son ever really an adult?
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: A son is he will always be my child, he he will always be my Stevie.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Maybe, maybe when he doesn't follow the rules, maybe he's maybe he's Steven for a day, but he is always my little boy.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Spanking is never off the table.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: You you can you spare that rod, spare that rod, and you have problems.
- 21:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, in fact, mom, uh, you remember you spanked me.
- 21:23SPEAKER_04: Uh, what was it, my last birthday?
- 21:25SPEAKER_04: Oh man, that was a little maybe a little too exciting.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: I I kind of like that, you know what I mean?
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, Steven, you're not supposed to say things like that.
- 21:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 21:35SPEAKER_04: No, it was okay then.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: Is that better?
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: That's better, okay.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, it's my fault that I brought it up.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Steve, you know what I'm thinking.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: You know, it's like I I get this feeling that maybe my dad's not my dad, and I feel like uh that probably searching.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, probably, yeah, yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: I think you're probably right, and I'm searching, so I guess.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: I look at somebody like Steve and you and the perfect upbringing that he had, and I say to myself, Well, there's got to be something wrong with you guys because I need to know that other people are you know searching like I am for the truth.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: I I said I forgot I forgot the napkins this morning.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: I thought you've heard me say that.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's the kind of honesty I'm talking about.
- 22:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no napkins, gotta use sleeves.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: And Jeff, I don't think she's gonna let you use her sleeve.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: You know what, Stevie?
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: I have two sleeves.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: I have two.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, so giving.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: She's a great.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: This is it, she's the greatest.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: Listen, this is so good.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: Listen to this.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: And I remember, you know, the last time I saw you, as I recall, was when Steve and I were much, you know, we were kids, you know.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I was like 17 years old, and you know, all I had was, you know, alcohol, drugs, and sex on my mind.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: And uh, and to be honest with you, uh a little bit about you too.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, it was just you and me both, Jeff.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: You and me both.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: Wow, wow.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Good memory, good to know, and good to share.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: You know, I've kind of held this inside of me for a long time.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's kind of good to tell people what I was thinking, to know that I'm not strange or that there's something wrong with me.
- 23:20SPEAKER_04: No, not at all.
- 23:21SPEAKER_04: In fact, as long as we're confessing, as long as we're being real honest, as long as we're telling the truth on this podcast, this podcast is all about the truth, you know.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: So long as we're telling the truth, mom, you know, I that that 65 Impala, I always kind of pictured that as you.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: I think that's why I like to hang with it.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: This is really a moment.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: I I really always thought of myself as an Impala.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: Oh graceful, sleek, yet a 427 dual-charge engine.
- 23:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, that thing could kick, let me tell you.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: That was quite the car.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, that's you, mom.
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: That is you.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: I've got good lines and a sleek engine.
- 24:05SPEAKER_04: I you know, we really connected, Jeff, and it's in a way that I probably a lot of mothers and sons maybe don't, but your father could learn something from you.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I tried to teach him, but he yeah, you know him.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, I he didn't listen.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: He's uh I know better.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: I, you know, you're sit you're just a kid, I've been doing this forever.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: Come on, yeah.
- 24:26SPEAKER_04: What what do you know?
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, and it's and it's and dads have such egos, you know, and and it goes back, you know, to their fathers and their fathers, and uh yeah, same thing that I'm going through with my father, my own father, uh myself.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: Uh goes back to the Hittites, you know.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and who I I must say he's a handsome man, and I don't know if you are looking around.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: Maybe there's a chance that I could introduce you to my father.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just well, how about you just drop a picture in the mail?
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: I I'll go, I can go down to the corner, I can just check our mail.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: I I would oh, yeah.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: So you still get mail.
- 25:02SPEAKER_04: Cool.
- 25:02SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, it's a generational thing, Jeff.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, drop the picture in, and then in two or three weeks we can talk about it again, and then we'll that sounds great.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: That's that would be a reasonable timeline.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I will do that.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: I have a couple here, so I can I can send you some of them.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: You know, there's there's some that are older, you know, like when I was young in grade school, you know, it'd be like parent teachers conferences and stuff like that.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: But a couple got a couple older ones too, you know, some of the surveillance that you know I paid for with my father, you know, when I was thinking that he was fooling around on my mom, you know.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: So I've got some photos that I can uh share with you.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, and so they're they're so they were professional photos, yes, yes.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: Wow, I bet he looks like Sears and Pennies quality.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Wow, yeah, like portrait stuff.
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: Well, when they were stalking him, did they see him?
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: Was he doing anything like weird when they when they found took the pictures?
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: You know, Steve, I don't like to judge, but yes, and uh it was it was it was pretty shocking.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: I know the first couple times I looked at it, yeah, I was I was taken aback by it.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: But you know, after a while you kind of get used to that kind of stuff, but yeah, you just figure this jerk understand it.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Yes, yeah, it's Jerry, that's what it's gonna do.
- 26:16SPEAKER_04: It is, you know.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: I remember Jerry.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: We used to have some drinks, so you know, when I'd come over to your house and you weren't there, Jerry'd say, Yeah, come on in anyway.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: What the hell?
- 26:23SPEAKER_04: And we did pour a scotch.
- 26:25SPEAKER_04: See, I don't know if you knew that, mom.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: I was drinking scotch when I was like 16.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: But when we mini-gulf for the cigarette, you had to actually like you had to hit par.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I I think he did, mom.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: I think he I think he did it because it it because it was like his way of being nice to a kid that wasn't his son, you know, you know what I mean?
- 26:52SPEAKER_04: Like he wanted to be nice to a kid, but didn't want to be nice to you, Jeff.
- 26:55SPEAKER_04: Sorry, uh, you know, it's just this is Jerry, this is him, not me.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: But Stevie, we're good kids, Stevie.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: I can see the appeal.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: I can see yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Well, and I remember I remember your my dad always saying, you know, I like that, Steve, you know, tall, strapping, blondish, you know, dirty blonde hair.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: You know, I I know he had a lot of respect.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: That goes way back.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: But I know he had a lot of respect for you.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: So uh probably still does.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: Probably still does.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: I should give Jerry a call and maybe get him a scotch one of these days, you know.
- 27:25SPEAKER_04: That would be nice, wouldn't it, mom?
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: Maybe that'd be nice, Stevie.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Hey, maybe, maybe, mom, maybe I can get Jerry and you, and we'll all have a scotch, and Jeff, yeah, and we'll all have a scotch, and you can meet Jerry, and yeah, we'll kind of take it from there.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: Because Jeff, I could even, I could even take some pictures.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: We'd be like stepbrothers or something, wouldn't we?
- 27:49SPEAKER_04: That would be so cool.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: We'd like related.
- 27:51SPEAKER_04: We could make it, we can make a movie.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: They wouldn't be professional photos, though.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: No, these would be like off the phone.
- 27:57SPEAKER_04: You know, phones can take pictures now, mom.
- 27:59SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you knew that.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we can take it right off our phone.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: No, but how then how do you put them in the album?
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: Well, we you you then you you take the phone and you you glue put glue on the album, you stick the phone in the album, and then you know, you know, you got to charge it periodically, but you know.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: No, that makes perfect sense.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: That makes perfect sense.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: And not that Elmer's glue.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: You have to use glue that's made specifically for phones and albums.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, phone glue.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: I think they can do it.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: That Elmer's, I once I find something that works, I don't like to change products, CV.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: It it's it's just it's just too written.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: You can't count on things anymore.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: That's why I still have my Maytag washer.
- 28:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 28:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, that thing, man, that thing has lasted my whole life, I think, hasn't it?
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 28:51SPEAKER_04: I mean, you guys had that when I was a little kid.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we did.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: You fit into it.
- 28:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I climb into it.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: I climb into the washer in the dryer, you know.
- 28:59SPEAKER_04: I do the spin in the dryer, and sometimes, mom, I don't know if you knew this.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: Sometimes dad would make me do a spin in the dryer if I was not a good kid or something, you know.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: That was just to rebalance the load, Steve.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there were all these wet towels around me, too.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: I didn't know what what that was all about, but okay, yeah, that makes sense.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: It throws the load off, slows things down.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: It was just was very practical as way, your way of doing your part.
- 29:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I could help, and and the and the dryer helped because I was always a little I would get cold as a kid, and that that heat really was helpful.
- 29:33SPEAKER_04: You didn't have a lot of body fat, it was mostly because of the not eating, yeah, yeah, because I was allergic to all this stuff, and so I ate mac and cheese, but you know, you reach a limit on mac and cheese at some point, right?
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: I mean, not not mom's mac and cheese, but mac and cheese in general, you know.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: Well, and because it comes out of a box, I can't I can't make it all the time, Stevie.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: I had a nap and also I was tired.
- 29:56SPEAKER_04: It's a lot of wrist action in doing the mac and cheese.
- 29:59SPEAKER_04: You got to stir it, then you gotta stand there while it boils.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: It's like yeah, it's it's work, it's a lot of work.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: Well, it's it's been wonderful to reconnect with you again.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: It sounds like you're doing great.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping that uh we'll have a chance to talk to you again sometime and and uh shoot us an email.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: We'll read, we'll read what you have to write.
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and we are because we are, yeah, Jeff, you're right.
- 30:20SPEAKER_04: We are just about to get kicked out of the old studio here.
- 30:23SPEAKER_04: But uh, mom, listen, I thank you so much for coming in.
- 30:27SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm gonna visit you more often, mom.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, come come get your ponies, don't forget about the oh, I got the I Jeff, you'll really like those ponies.
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: We can do a show on the ponies sometime.
- 30:38SPEAKER_04: I really like those.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Sounds great.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Check the break room.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: Just yeah, sorry about the napkin.
- 30:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's great.
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, I you know, I got a long sleeve shirt today because I'm cold again.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I'll be fine.
- 30:49SPEAKER_04: I'll just and then I'll use your house dress too, mom.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: Because I just makes me feel like I'm uh still a little kid and still at home.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: I got it.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: I'm tear, I'm tearing up.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: I am too.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: This is very emotional for me.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: I'm so proud of you.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you, mom.
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: And and mom, I'm proud to have you on the best podcast because you're the best mom.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: It was great seeing you again, Steve's mom.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 31:18SPEAKER_04: All right, thanks.
