Bat Rabies Alert in Libby Montana | Missoula News
A bat in Libby, Montana, has tested positive for rabies—here’s what you need to know: don’t touch bats with bare hands, even though most aren’t carriers. Bats help control insects and pollinate plants, so stay calm but cautious. If you find one inside your home or think it may have contacted you or your pets, wear gloves and cover up—especially in attics or barns. Seal gaps in your home to keep bats out, and make sure your pets are vaccinated. If you suspect exposure, call Lincoln County Public Health at 406-283-2467.
