- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: and S.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't know him personally, but I know he's a firecracker, and especially in situations like that, he was sticking up for the guys, and I was happy to see that.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was happy to see that.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, yes, so we'll dive into everything.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, but one thing I do know about Rouglas is he's very even killed all the time until you cross one of his guys, right?
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he is a tech div, he's obviously that outdoor baseball family.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got a little bit of a fight in him, you know, his nephew Rougnet famous fight where, you know, he took out Jose Batista, but Rouglas trying to take on the Diamondbacks when they tried to fund to break up a perfect game.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Cade, I thought that was complete bush league.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: I paid it.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: It always have Cade.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Where do you stand on funding to try to break up a perfect game?
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I understand that everyone's saying you're trying to get on base by me is necessary and I thought it was summed up perfectly.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's like if you're in that situation, you if you're the guardians that situation you hated if you're the dimebacks that situation you're going to do it, you know, to me because you're trying to break up the situation that's your in and try to slide a spark in some way shape or form, but no, obviously on this sentence where you're the guardians, I think it's I think it's, I think it's bushly, I don't like it obviously because.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're in a situation two where it's the first that bad of the inning.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's an O1 count.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then you just try to lay down a blind.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's weird.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think the difficulty with me, though, is that then he immediately swears back and lines a single in the right field.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: So it didn't really matter.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what I mean, if it did lay down the bottom of the work, you know what I mean?
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously the frustration is going to be through the roof, but he stood back in there and they're getting a single out of it.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, for me, I was able to swallow a little bit more once I was like, okay, well, got on base.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the other things, too, is Tim Tawa obviously was the one who wanted.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: He had a little bit of a hard slide into second base, straight to play it up that double play right before the rain delay as well.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Rubeless or Dora got hot though.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: I will say, Brian Rokio, you know what I mean?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: like that much on the field as well.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick Bailey, I know he can get into a little bit of that with some of the hitters, but Patrick Bailey took exception.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Kevin Williams didn't seem to take much exception.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: You don't really have to do that when you've got 10 strikeouts and 10 plus strikeouts in your fifth straight start.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Kate, he is an unbelievable starter for this team.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: If we weren't talking about how average this team was, how bad the run sport was, this guy would be in the
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, 100% and two to build off what you were just mentioning how Gavin really didn't react to it.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's good because we've talked about the maturity of this pitching staff at the years going on.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like we've seen some great control of the mind by Tanner Bivie.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen Joey Cantillo make great strides this season.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm super pessimistic or rookie.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: Slates at Coney's done a great job at weathering the storm in tough situations.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: And Gavin Williams, normally he's like, I can kind of plays with a little bit more.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say that's certainly like a fire tune, but he plays more with a little bit like, uh,
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know what the word is like he is a guy who comes into situations and he's like all right well, let's go get it done.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's a guy who's going to go out there and if that happens more often than I can see them there, you can make them out.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get it after it like but but seeing how he was like he was very even killed and he said postgame when asked about he's like
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I just get back to it going on the next that bad going on the next pitch get off the after and keep in the job done because he has a thing to do and that's to get the guy out in front of him no matter what happens.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I love what we saw about there on the on the control mentally, but also to the control on his pitches.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's done a great job of the last few starts.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting that ball in the strikes on a hammering it and then testing opposing batters, which is something that he wasn't doing in years past.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Pat like he was he was walking a lot of guys because he was scared to attack the strike zone in earlier on the season when he was attacking the strike zone.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: It was working out too well.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: He was given a lot of hits, but lately it's been a combination of that confidence of attacking the strike zone, but also the delivery of getting the ball in the strike zone effectively and efficiently not just to get it in there.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I really like what we've seen from Gavin Williams his growth has been tremendous.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: It includes in a great spot with a starting notation right now.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's one of the strong spots as we talk about heading into this trade deadline Monday at 6 p.m. cave.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're recording.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: I had a little bit ahead of time.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: We did see one trade go down.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: But something that is constant for this team that we can actually rely on is the front end of this starting rotation.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Messick, another absolute but I know the bullpen.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: really did not come through for our guy yet again.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of the same old story with our guardians, Gavin Williams, 10 plus strikeouts, parcromasic, another gem that bullpank couldn't come through, Tanner Bibi, yet another dominant start.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: I was starting to eat Crow a little bit, you know, I was talking about how Tanner didn't really, he didn't do much for me necessarily, but he's been unbelievable.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: So this starting rotation has been very good for our guardians lately, unfortunately, the storyline has been the bullpank.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: the biggest worry for me right now, Hunter Gattis.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a guy who's come in, cannot throw strikes.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's walked a ton of guys.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Tim here and obviously he hasn't really been the guy that we've seen in the past.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Recently, I guess you could say walked a bunch of guys down there in Cincinnati as well.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: But Colin Holderman, Kate Smith, they're the guys that you need, Eric Sabrowski, a little bit of a question mark right now as well.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: Kate, as we turn towards this trade deadline, I think there's got to be some arms in the back end of that bullpen that you bring in.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Sooner you look up the white socks man, they're starting to run away with this just a little bit.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the twins are now ahead of the the guardians as well at this point in time and say oh at least they're tied, but yeah, it's it's been a crazy Couple of weeks here with what we were seeing from the white socks really start to pull ahead The guardians just can't go on a losing spirit.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's the biggest thing right now because of that happens They're gonna slide even further back and we can't see a repeat of last year It's good so unlikely to see a team come back from the the way in which the guardians did so I think for them You're right the both ends this major issue at the moment in time, and it's because
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're trying to mix a lot of youngsters, the will deans of the world before is the Cody Hoyers.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's the fight bollymons and the Daniela spinos while they have talent and they might have something in the arsenal two, three, four years down the line where they've become staples for this bullpen at this point in time with how rocky the bullpen is putting more youngsters into the mix that are less experienced.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: really muddies the water and so part of me looks at what they've been able to do these past couple of weeks in the sense of getting some good starts from Mali Manning and then getting some good opportunities where common homens come in but then seeing some of the struggle some points from Sean Armstrong from Hunter Gattis to me it really does signal that this team's not in a situation where I believe that one guy fixes the bunch like quite yo-ho right we got him and he's a great guy he performed really well in his debut.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: You can't be done there, you know, that can't be the only thing because if you add another guy in here, I'll feel much more confident because then that's two new arms and that's two new arms that you can flex you can you yeah you can you can take a test to see how they look and how they perform with this bunch, but one guy doesn't change the bunch now now two guys though to me again, you had yo ho in and maybe another lefty or a guy who's can take the spot up to him here and then I'm feeling a little bit more confident here like a Mason Montgomery from the pirates like.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you're Cleveland, you have to go in the Zella and going, one bat's not going to fix this.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: One Vulpin arms not going to fix this.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: But two bats and two Vulpin arms, you could come out on the other side and go, all right, it might not be an immediate fix.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: But if you give yourself a couple of weeks, let the other guys settle in, iron out the pieces you do have, I think that's something to look in for Pat that goes, hey, this might actually work out.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think the beginning part as we'll start here for the trade deadline is we're about 24 hours, uh, you know, within 24 hours of the trade deadline.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: The guardians did trade backup catch your bone nailer.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: He was obviously on the Major League roster for a little while there.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: He had some flashes up here at the Major League level, but his time had kind of come up when you traded for Patrick Bailey.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously you sent bone nailer down.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: He went to the development over there in Arizona.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: You knew his time was numbered.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: You knew he was going to be traded out of here as soon.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you know, sooner rather than later, I guess you could say, so you did get some, uh, a little bit of depth in the outfield, sort of like a Stuart Fairchild, Feex Emily right where so, you know, depending on one of these outfield depth pieces as well, but Yoho comes in a little bit more control as well.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you get a reliever that you needed obviously in that bullpen.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Cade will start there though.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: The trade to me from both the bone ailer trade to me.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: That wasn't really a win or a loss for the Guardians because the loss was when you had to send down bone nailer like that.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: The trade is kind of independent of the, uh, the most good standpoint.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when you sent down bone nailer because, you know, we heard about it with Carlos Bayer again, Gabgatti right here in the studio talking about, oh, bone nailer, like he's a great player.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: You need to do this.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that catcher was a really low position across majorly baseball.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: The averages are lower, the slugging percentages lower.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's all fine and good.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: He was a first round pick.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: He was a top 100 prospect for quite a long time bone ale was in this system.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't come to fruition.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's unfortunately when you have to send him down, you're not going to get nearly as much as you like in the past for bone ale.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're definitely right there.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, going off of what we've seen in the catcher position this season, I thought we'd see a little bit more David Fry.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: And now was something that early on, they tested the waters with.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then when that didn't work out, you really were coming down to just Austin hedges in Bonaylor.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so to see that, that wish you washy, you know, in Bonaylor's out there, the defense isn't as sharp, the command of the pitching staff isn't as sharp,
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: that that leadership generally isn't as far as well.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's no problem.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like that in some players are meant for that something aren't.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: And that's okay.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's just that Cleveland relies so heavily on it.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: So then you get a guy like Patrick Bailey who comes in and fits that mold perfectly.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: So Patrick Bailey now awesome.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: He had just, you got the great one, two punch.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: He was the odd man out because at Chipalay, he's fighting for time against Cody Huff and Cooperingle.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Two guys who Cleveland wants to develop into hopefully eventual major league staples or at least get them more opportunities to be able to ship them off in a trade package.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: To me, yes, you're totally right.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: The Guardians, you know, this trade was a wash back when we had to move bone-ailer down to the minor leagues.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: And this to me just solidifies know that they were willing to cut ties with it.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: They're willing to package up Cody Hoyer who'd been an up and down all year long at the major league level.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then get to guys that they say at least have some sort of value.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now Craig Yoho's the big one.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's done a great job.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: We saw him today.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: He got to pop out on the first one.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I ground out.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: Then hit Nolan or not, and then struck out the next batter he faced.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: So he looks pretty sharp today.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Good change up as we talked about, you know, one of those reals a couple of days ago when it was announced.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so the thing about
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Craig Yoho, is that he's going to be good to this full pen.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited to see what he does.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Blake Brook and tell the other hand, who knows what we'll get from him.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Just a somewhat mediocre center of field or who has a chance to maybe impact a team of an injury occurs or some things need to down the line off the bench.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's not going to be someone who's going to immediately make the jump.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know if this trade to me does it all.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, again, like I said, moments ago, if this is the only move of the deadline, I'm kind of sitting there going,
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: What's the move to strengthen the team or just part ways of the bone nailer?
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Both can be right, but it feels more like if this is the only move pad, it felt like it was just to cut ties and move on to the next step of the journey.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, alarm bells would be ringing for sure.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: So Kate and I will dive into what we need our trade deadline to look like for this Cleveland Guardians, especially as this A.O.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: Central shapes up, a lot of moves already with the white socks and the tigers will dive into all of that coming up next on the Cleveland Guardians on S.I.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Cleveland Guardians on S.I.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Report is brought to you by Fandle.

- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's just another reason why Fandle is the home for home runs.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: So are you ready to play your game?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Join all the action at fandle.com slash big play.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's fandle.com slash big play to play daily dingers and make your free pick on who's hitting a home.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Play ball and swing for the fences on Fandle, an official partner of the MLB.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: back here on the Cleveland Guardians on s i report we are talking about trade deadline as it comes down to the nitty gritty here k the a.l.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: central got me making some moves.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to dive into what we want our Cleveland guardians to do here before the trade deadline.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: But first, a couple of moves already made the inevitable has happened.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Terri school has been traded to the Dodgers completely inevitable.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: Thanos got his infinity stone the the last ever.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: The time stone that he needed as well, obviously, but an intriguing move as well.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: The white socks acquired Luis Castillo.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't been really been that great for the Seattle Mariners after they traded for him, but it could be an impact arm for the Chicago white socks in this A.L.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: Central race.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: To me, Kade, that signals how wide open this A.L.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: Central is.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw the twins making a couple moves as well.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: They haven't been quiet either.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, you really look at everyone.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you look at everyone else who's making moves and you go, Cleveland, got to do something here.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand if you look at this, this team, if you're the front office, and you say, I don't know if moves make a difference at this point in the year, especially with an impending potential lockout next year.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I understand that, but as a baseball fan and someone who just wants to see that competitiveness
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: You can't just give up, you know what I mean?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, that's the toughest part.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I understand there might be a lock out next year.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand that the rest of the teams are pulling ahead of the American League Central.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand maybe right now the Cleveland Guardians aren't in a position where they can go content for a World Series title.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't mean you can't try.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, that's the biggest thing.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so if Cleveland goes into this deadline and can just make something happen to at least play yourself in a conversation that involves the terror
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying, go out there and make a splash.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to see some moves that puts you in the conversation of teams that were busy at the deadline, because the twins, they didn't make a splash, but they made a couple of moves, got a couple of arms, and to you, and to us, we're talking about that.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like everyone's talking, okay, the white socks are making moves.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: The twins are making moves.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: The guardians aren't.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to have them, someone say at the end of the deadline, the guardians were making moves.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's all that comes to mind to me, like that's all I'm looking for.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely, too, because, you know, at a certain point, you just can't stand pat with this team right now because, you know, Jose Amiris obviously hasn't exactly been who we wanted him to be since he returned injury on Hellmartina's sort of the same story as well.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, at a certain point, you're going to have to make an answer.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have to get your answer where you're going with this team because we're based on 110 games in at this point, Kate, and
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really see them going anywhere in the in the postseason.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like I know the Arizona Diamondbacks here this weekend.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of a great example because what was that 2020?
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: One or 22 whatever it was when they went to on that absolute heater in the month of August August September October and they were able to make it to the world series.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's not gonna be able to you're not gonna be able to follow that recipe the whole time every time.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: So the Guardians you can't really just sell me that.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: You can't really sell me that.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we believe in the town that we've got here all the sort of stuff the younger kids I'd be willing to listen on that is a little bit more But you know the Reese Hoskins the Kalmanzardo the David Fries of this roster pretty soon They're gonna have to be gone.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: You got to bring in an outfield that in my opinion as well So Kate I want to start here the number one thing that the Guardians easy to do for this trade deadline is what?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: bringing a right hand outfielder.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's as simple as that.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: You bring somebody who's going to help out this team from the right side of the plate and complain the outfield because don't get me wrong.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like Chase Latter is great.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's your every day with a filler slash dh, right?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Stephen Cuan.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's been phenomenal as of late.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: So he's your every day with a filler slash centerfielder.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: But you need that next guy who can play Latter Center when Stephen Cuan's out of position or a guy who can play right field when Chase Latter's dh.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, it's got to be a guy who can swing with the right, at the right side of the plate, in Heli-Ramos comes to mind, a guy from the San Francisco Giants, you know, the garden has made that trade for Haptic Billy earlier in the years, so they know they have that contact in San Fran.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I'd love to see that be the move, bring in Heli-Ramos, bring in a guy who can help out this influence side, and a guy who can play all three positions.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: So that comes to mind immediately here,
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's much needed.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's names being thrown around Spencer Steary did get hurt for the Cincinnati Reds obviously as well.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know Taylor Ward used kind of that name thrown around as well.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: He fits that that mold as much as we might like but Elliott Ramos obviously as well from the San Francisco Giants seems like whenever you can trade with the Giants right now with Buster Posey seems like it might be a victory for the Guardians.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully that well obviously.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's going to be a lot more teams clamoring for right hand to power bat.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: As we mentioned to everyone's kind of wanting a right hand to power bat.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: The Yankee's went and got Luis Garcia Jr.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's wrong.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's, there's kind of like the, um, we've got a little bit of chase to his profile.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not really like, oh, the Guardian should have gotten him from the Washington Nationals.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: That sort of trade doesn't really move me one way or the other.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's definitely a Yankees on the fringes sort of trade.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that really doesn't do that much for me.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: But the Guardians, you have to get a rating and a power bat because like I mentioned, Reese Hoskins, David Fry.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: David fries MIA right now resuscits at a two run blast obviously the other day but David fry where's he at right like ever since he made the awesome you know we just haven't seen much of him cade so i think this trade deadline you have to go get a right hand a power bat but also for me this trade deadline would be a success if
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: we get clarity at the first base position.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think resuscans, Kalamazar, David Fry, if you put them over there, you need something in there.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: To me, the name that screams out that has to be sort of the addition at this trade deadline at first base for the Guardians is Ralphie Velazquez.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: I can't see much more of Kalamazar.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: I know we got the grand slam in Cincinnati.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: However, some of the abats just still aren't doing it.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if did you see the comments from Chris Anthony as well?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't, I didn't, was the, the comments from yesterday.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Bob, man, so today.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: He was talking about how he can kind of take over a lineup for you.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: At certain points of time, when he does run hot, but when he's not running hot, that was the parent's medical office.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: When he's not running hot, he's almost unplayable.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't really say it in those words, because obviously, Antanetti's never really going to get that way.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: With his players, he's always going to try to protect his players.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: But we can read between the lines.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: We've heard enough from Chris Antanetti.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: We know what he's trying to say about Kyle, man, Zardo.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be Ralph,
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that it's a good question to ask to with the first face spot because you're totally right in the sense of this trade deadline will give you a lot of clarity on where the organization sits with it because if they do bring in somebody, that showcase is okay, whether it's wrong or less because or someone from outside the organization is showcases, hey,
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: the trusting common zardo is is on thin ice or lost at this point in time.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it also signals that hey, we know that fry in Hoskins aren't the answer there.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: And to me as well, it also, if that doesn't happen, showcases if the organization is okay,
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: with sitting with Manzardo or next year, giving the reins over to Rocky Velazquez.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, I totally agree with you on the sense of like, it's kind of a one-and-one.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of are right handed out, Fielder, but you also kind of need some sort of clarity at first base.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a few things here, because outside of those two as well, it's also the bullpen, which makes me now, as we're talking about it, and as I kind of look back
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: With so many issues, Pat, do they go into the deadline and do nothing?
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to do nothing.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to be proved wrong, but obviously this is, you know, recording this Sunday evening before the trade deadline really sorts of sort of heats up before the day off.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously on Monday, but I don't think they're going to do anything of note here, Kate.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: My next question for you is, as we talk about this trade deadline, which would be more of a failure, standing pat and not making moves or selling off some of their major league players, but puning on the season.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's a great, I've been obviously, I think, to me it's selling and punching because we've seen so much playing throughout contests this year with a bullpen, putting in Matt Fest going to different guys in moments that are questionable.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, you're told, I think if they go into this and they sell off some guys and punt the rest of the year because the twins and the white socks have made moves to pull ahead.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be severely disappointed, but I also don't envy the position and I'll go back to that.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't envy the position the front office is in from the sense of
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a very young crew who is not yet there yet.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: And it's visibly obvious from the outside.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: But you also have a young crew that you don't know if you can build around yet with an impending lack out for next year.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is such a difficult time period for Major League Baseball to be in.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: And at the end of the day, it only hurts the sport.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like the things that have occurred this week with Scooble going to the Dodgers and some of the conversations surrounding what's next because the financial issues that we're seeing across the league
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: this is a situation that if you're the guardians, I don't know what you do.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, like I said earlier in the episode, I'd love to just keep that competitiveness of the sport, go out there, forget about that, and just go play competitive baseball and try to win game in a game out.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: But at the same standpoint, there is the point of it is still a business.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: You still have to make money, you still have to stay afloat, and you still have to go out there and stay true to what the organization is, and I don't know if the Cleveland Guardians right now will do anything.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think they will.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't trust Chris Anthony in the front office at this point to be paid because Kate, you know, I understand the thing of, you know, I don't empty where this front office is at right now.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that they're in a very difficult situation.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately, though, Kate, they painted themselves into this corner.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't bring anybody in in the off season.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: You got Colin Holderman up.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: scratch off that you get at 7 11 you got a really lucky you know you hit on that one you put in $10 you won 125 bucks right we've all done it on the sports book and you're feeling good however that can't carry you for for a whole 162 games you can't count on bone-ailer to continually try to come back to the major league level you know as a you count man Zardo obviously you can't
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: you're not expecting him to be a below a major league level sort of bat.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: So not bringing in anybody and only bringing in really Reese Hoskins and Kyle Colin Holderman.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys, that's just not doing anything for me.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think this season ultimately, unless they make some big shakeups at the trade deadline, I think it's a complete failure on Chris Antonetti and the front office.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: Cable wrap up here too.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: with the trades in the background of Terrix school and the Detroit Tigers going sending him over to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the White Sox bringing in Luis Castillo, the twins bringing an AJ midter and a couple other pieces as well.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: This Guardian's team, their trade deadline would be a failure if what?
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: If they stand pat, yeah, if they stand pat, I think, no matter what, you go into this deadline.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I said, I don't envy it, but I still sit here and I think that, like, if you go in there and you don't do anything, or if you go in there and you sell off guys, anything but investing in the group you have now and building up a core around them.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then going and trying to compete in the postseason is a failure in my books, because every single year, we see the same thing.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: A team that the guardians scrum together somehow, you get the, the seven love and scratch off like you said that pays off.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: and somehow some way you make it to the postseason, but you get bouncing the first round.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: That does nothing year after year after year.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, my soul wrote about the athletic recently.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: You can't just keep hoping to get to the postseason and then go on, all right, time for next year.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: All right, time for next year.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: We like, it's just not the case.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like, it only goes so far when you just get the same result every single year.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: So in my books, unless you go into this deadline, you make a couple moves, you build up what you got right now and you make a run towards the postseason.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's a failure.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely and there's one place to get all that news.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's Cleveland Guardians on SI trade deadline talk is all up and down to there might be a couple articles that we've got a little crossover with our guy chasing lock and fora over there on Baltimore orials on SI but make sure you stay tuned kids can have tons of content Nick Pannon obviously our other guys right and for Cleveland Guardians on SI
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we got pretty much everything covered, right?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: Right now is the Guardians time to shine, Cade, you always do a great job over there.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, we're writing some positive news of people we're bringing in and hopefully not guys that are being sent out from this organization because honestly, the way that the Guardians are standing right now, basically third place as I mean, you could tell me their type of twins right now.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: As I look at it, they're third place behind the twins right now because they're playing some pretty good baseball, the white socks continue.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of walk-offs this season.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: They've been doing an unbelievable job at late in the late innings.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: So this Guardians team, unless they make a little bit of a shake up, I don't see them really winning that A.L.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: Central Crown.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: But Kate, obviously as I mentioned, you're going to have everything you need to know on Cleveland Guardians on its side.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, for sure.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: You got to make sure to, I don't know, you can't put on push notifications, but you can do it for my Twitter.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: So go over there.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get the coverage there.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then we'll go up on Cleveland Gardens and S.I.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: and we'll have the deep dives.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have the inset information, the interviews, the quotes, everything you could possibly need.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: If there's moves made, we'll have it.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: If there isn't, we'll have the reactions to either one.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully we will get some positive reactions at seven negative ones.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: But either way, everything will be over on Cleveland Gardens and S.I.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: The trade deadline bearing down as quick as it could come here on this MLB season.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy to believe that we're already into the dog days of August.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: We thank everybody for tuning in here on Cleveland Guardians on S.I.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: as well.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: But make sure you get yourself over there.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: Tons of breaking news that you got to follow.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: Cade will have you covered for Kate Crackas.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Pam Gwire.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see you next time.
