- 0:01OK, I want to thank you for joining me and allowing me to
- 0:03make this presentation to you. Paper 195 has been one of my.
- 0:08Favorite ever? Since I started reading.
- 0:10The book because it's really the.
- 0:12One part of the book. Where they they predictably talk
- 0:16about what? We're going through right now.
- 0:19It's very important. And I want to start off by this
- 0:23quote which is from Paper 50. 4. And they define what?
- 0:29Liberty really is. And they say.
- 0:32That liberty is a. Self destroying technique of
- 0:34cosmic existence when its motivation is unintelligent,
- 0:38unconditioned and uncontrolled. True liberty is progressively
- 0:43related to reality. And is.
- 0:45Ever regardful of social equity. Cosmic fairness, universe,
- 0:49fraternity and divine obligations.
- 0:53And I believe in the context of what they're saying is humans
- 0:57are operating on a very limited. Scope they.
- 1:01Have no idea that the universe is filled with living populated
- 1:07planets and it's guided by intelligent spiritual ministry.
- 1:12So to us, liberty is about free speech.
- 1:15It's about human rights and all these other things, but.
- 1:18True liberty. Takes into account.
- 1:21Your. Cosmic obligations and fairness
- 1:24and the fact. That we are part of.
- 1:26God's universe and we are supposed to be doing his will.
- 1:31Humanity can no longer remain stable.
- 1:36And progressive. And this is what I think the
- 1:39revelators are warning us. About SO.
- 1:42We know that secularism. Started about. 300 years ago and
- 1:46science began its pursuit of unlocking the mysteries of the
- 1:48universe. And what started out?
- 1:51As. A protest against religious
- 1:53tyranny has morphed into a form of cultural tyranny.
- 1:57Spiritual. Realities are ignored.
- 2:00Materialism is the. Ideology being celebrated by the
- 2:03West because of this I believe that it has created.
- 2:08A stabilizing an unstable influence because religion is no
- 2:14is no longer acting like a. Break spiritual values.
- 2:19No longer guide human behavior. Moral Relativism.
- 2:23Rules the day. And the results of.
- 2:25All of this. Embrace of materialism and
- 2:28secularism. Is that we have a.
- 2:32Rise in crime, drug dependency, commercialized human trafficking
- 2:37on a global scale, and the rise of mental illness and war a
- 2:43deeply. Material Ideology.
- 2:45That is completely void of moral clarity, and that is.
- 2:48What plagues society today? On a grand scale.
- 2:51All are direct results. Of the new materialistic
- 2:55philosophy. The UB talks about.
- 2:57In Paper 195, let us remember that in Section 4.
- 3:02Five and. Six on secularism, materialism
- 3:05and totalitarianism. The.
- 3:07Revelators warn us of the dangers.
- 3:10Of these ideologies which are destructive.
- 3:13To human progress. And they write a lasting social
- 3:17system without a morality. Predicated on spiritual
- 3:20realities. Can no more be maintained than
- 3:24could the solar system without gravity.
- 3:27That's from Paper 195, section 9.
- 3:31They also. Write in that same paragraph
- 3:33that. Without God.
- 3:35This is only the beginning of the.
- 3:36Dire Harvest. Of materialism and secularism
- 3:40still more terrible destruction is yet to come now the.
- 3:45Urantia book says that. Secularism, Science, the
- 3:49Industrial. Age has brought us a lot.
- 3:52Of beneficent gains, we've eliminated a lot.
- 3:54Of diseases, our food. Production.
- 3:57Our infrastructure. The way that.
- 3:59We are more literate than we were, say, 2-3 hundred years
- 4:03ago. All of that is.
- 4:04Vastly improved, but religion and.
- 4:08Spiritual Faith has. Sort of taken aback seat and as
- 4:12a result of. This loss of religious faith or.
- 4:15Confusion. It's prompted scientific
- 4:18nihilism, the belief and accidental causation that there
- 4:21is no universal plan. Moral Relativism.
- 4:27That allows for the idea that good.
- 4:29Is based on the immediate and temporal needs.
- 4:32Without regard for. Cosmic relationships or
- 4:35responsibilities, and today materialistic emphasis is on
- 4:41things instead of knowledge and personality growth and spiritual
- 4:45growth. In.
- 4:47Fact, it writes from paper 111. Any civilization is in jeopardy
- 4:51when 3. Quarters of its youth.
- 4:53Enter upon materialistic professions and devote
- 4:56themselves. To the.
- 4:57Pursuit of sensory activities in the outer world when we.
- 5:02Are obsessed. With things instead of.
- 5:04Ideals. Science has also adopted an
- 5:07antagonistic approach to. Religious faith.
- 5:10And this has a destabilizing effect on the human condition
- 5:15quote the violence swing from an age of miracles to an age of
- 5:19machines has. Proved altogether upsetting.
- 5:22To man, the pursuit of mere knowledge without the attendant
- 5:26interpretation of wisdom and the spiritual insight of religious
- 5:30experience eventually leads to pessimism and human.
- 5:34Despair and. Those are quotes from Paper 195,
- 5:38section 6A. Little knowledge is indeed
- 5:42disconcerting. I say I.
- 5:44Recall as. The quote that comes after this.
- 5:46Paragraph Today's. Scientists views natural law as
- 5:49inherent and automatic. It was the same mistake that
- 5:53Lucifer made as well and his proclamation, for example, The
- 5:58Big Bang is without. A real purpose.
- 6:00It's really up to us to decide. And it's us to speculate on the
- 6:05truth of creation. But.
- 6:07What is truth? That's a.
- 6:09Good question and the Urantia book answers it from paper. 34.
- 6:13Section 6. We're told contrary to secular
- 6:17perspectives. Quote there truly.
- 6:20Exists within you a conspiracy of?
- 6:23Spiritual powers whose exclusive purpose is to.
- 6:26Affect your final deliverance from material bondage and finite
- 6:31handicaps. So it's saying that there is.
- 6:35A. Thereafter.
- 6:36There is something next that comes.
- 6:38This is not all there. Is.
- 6:41And the. Secular perspective is.
- 6:43You only live once and that's it.
- 6:46The Urantia book. Disputes that.
- 6:48And says no, you continue living, but in order.
- 6:51To get. Deliverance from material
- 6:54bondage that. Requires spiritual.
- 6:57And living faith. But what are the fruits of
- 7:00religious faith? Well, number one, as we just
- 7:03discussed, salvation, escape from material death and enduring
- 7:07values, enduring personality, another aspect.
- 7:13Of the fruits of religious. Faith increased wisdom and
- 7:16insight through prayer and meditation and worship.
- 7:20The growth of the personality, the.
- 7:23Enhanced relationship. With God the Father.
- 7:27An even more meaningful and close.
- 7:29Relationship. With Christ, Michael and there's
- 7:32also the components of anxiety and stress reduction.
- 7:36We have more than enough scientific evidence that shows.
- 7:39That religious faith. Is medicinal as well.
- 7:42As practical. And then of course, there is the
- 7:45connection to the Supreme. It's like.
- 7:48We're all connected with. Each other.
- 7:50But are we connected to the Supreme?
- 7:53What? Are the.
- 7:54Solutions that the urantia. Book revelators offer us.
- 7:57In dealing with materialism and totalitarianism and secularism,
- 8:03Well, from Paper 96. We read.
- 8:06The time is ripe to witness the figurative resurrection of the
- 8:09human Jesus from his burial tomb amidst the theological
- 8:13traditions and the religious dogma of 19th centuries.
- 8:18In other words, it's time to. Upgrade our religious software.
- 8:23What a transcendent service. If through this.
- 8:27Revelation, the Son of Man. Should be.
- 8:29Recovered from the tomb of traditional theology and be
- 8:33presented as the. Living Jesus to the Church.
- 8:35That bears his name and to all. Other religions, so here
- 8:40they're. Specifying what's in this.
- 8:43Book is. Going to help you from paper 196
- 8:48Section 2. Paragraph 3.
- 8:50The great mistake that has been made.
- 8:52By those who have. Studied the master.
- 8:54'S life. Is that some have conceived him
- 8:57as entirely human. While others have.
- 9:00Thought of him as only divine throughout the entire
- 9:03experience. He was.
- 9:05Truly both human and divine, even.
- 9:09As he yet is. It's a wonderful quote.
- 9:14It is indeed a pity. That his followers failed to
- 9:16create a unified. Religion which might have given
- 9:19proper recognition to both the human and the divine natures of
- 9:23the Master, as they were inseparably bound up in His
- 9:27earth life. And so gloriously set.
- 9:29Forth in the original Gospel of the Kingdom, indeed.
- 9:32The Social. Readjustments, The economic
- 9:35transformations, the moral rejuvenations.
- 9:38And the religious? Revisions of Christian
- 9:41civilization. Would be a.
- 9:43Drastic and revolutionary change if the living religion of Jesus
- 9:49should suddenly supplant the theologic religion about Jesus.
- 9:54That's a direct call. To Western civilization, it says
- 9:59that everything could change. Quickly, if we would adopt the.
- 10:03Living Religion. Of Jesus.
- 10:06And what? He taught.
- 10:08And the Arantia book gives. His whole life, the.
- 10:10Life and teachings. Of Jesus.
- 10:14So in our conclusionary summary, what is?
- 10:17What is the meaning of all of this?
- 10:19Well, the. Revelation alerts us to the
- 10:21dangers of materialism in society, which we can.
- 10:24Clearly. See.
- 10:26They tell us a new. Perspective of Jesus's.
- 10:29Teachings offers humanity the. Surest path to.
- 10:33Restoring stability. It says the tenets of Jesus's
- 10:37teachings are faith in God. Is a valid truth.
- 10:43Materialism without religious. Faith is destructive to society.
- 10:48And religious living as Jesus. Taught.
- 10:52Provides incentive for putting the Golden Rule into action,
- 10:56which benefits everyone. I think those are pretty
- 11:00important statements and proclamations.
- 11:05To follow. Jesus means to personally share
- 11:08his. Religious faith.
- 11:10And to enter into the. Spirit of the Master.
- 11:13'S life of unselfish service for man.
- 11:17One of the most important things a human being is to find out.
- 11:21What Jesus believed to discover his ideals.
- 11:25And to strive for the achievement.
- 11:27Of his exalted life purpose. Of all human knowledge.
- 11:32That which is of greatest value. Is to know the.
- 11:35Religious life of Jesus. And how?
- 11:37He lived it. And that's from paper 190.
- 11:41Six section. One paragraph.
- 11:43Three, Jesus said. Regardless of.
- 11:48Who I am and what power I may or may not wield, I have always
- 11:53been and always will. Be subject to the will.
- 11:57Of my. Paradise, Father.
- 12:01I think. That's a pretty great.
- 12:03Way to end this presentation. Could it really be?
- 12:06So simple. So let's talk about.
- 12:08It thank you for listening to my presentation.
