Let's get it on. Let's get it on. [upbeat rock music] Let's get it on. Let's get it on. I stepped on the post. I stepped on it, all over it.
• 0:20
That's new. That's when I hit the button with my finger. Ah. [laughs] So I'm not looking. Hey, everybody. Yeah, he's like playing DJ Hero from old Dreamcast days. [laughs] It's Full Spectrum Cycling show 3-1-8.
• 0:36
Nothing clever. I took a look. Or 3-118. Yeah. Uh, there's a lot of, uh, stuff going on. It's a beautiful day in Milwaukee. A little chilly, but not bad. I don't think it was chilly at all. I wore a hoodie.
• 0:51
It was beautiful. All this chilly talk again. I'm getting the gases. [laughs] This morning's ride to school was, was chilly, but then the humidity was lower, so it was- Zesty... actually beautiful. It was zesty.
• 1:02
It was beautiful. It's beautiful. And it's gonna be beautiful in mid-August to have mid-70s for highs. Right, instead of 105. Yeah, I'm all for that. I'll take these slightly chilly days and chillier evenings. Mm-hmm.
• 1:14
Any day... It, I, I, I know it's not a popular opinion, but, ah, summer is coming to an end, isn't it? No, no. Yes, yes, yes. Well- I mean, we only get like a six-week burn. Mm-hmm. Yeah. T- today, today was momentous.
• 1:27
And, I mean, you have to suck all the marrow out of it. Today I realize it's the anniversary of closing on our house from 2018. Oh. And also, I completed a full year of Portuguese. Oh, all right. Didn't miss a day.
• 1:43
Duoli- Obrigado. So Duolingo has been pissing- Obrigado... me off so much 'cause it yells at me and it just- Oh, it does not stop... tries to make me feel guilty. Uh-huh. I'm like, "Well, fuck yourself, Duolingo."
• 1:50
Uninstall it. I've taken the notifications off and it still keeps emailing me now. It's like, stop it. You'll keep calling me. I'll get to it. Well, you could practice. You'll keep calling me. Yeah, or...
• 2:01
You'll make me feel guilty. I'll, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go. Sorry, there was- When Cameron was in Egypt land. [laughs] Let my Cameron go. Cameron go. Hey, everybody, uh, Tony's here today.
• 2:18
Hey, Tony. Uh, your, your, uh, your erstwhile, uh, co-host JK is over there. Hello. I'm Sven, at least te- part-time. [laughs] Part- Tem- Temporarily Sven. PTS, part-time Sven. Yes, I, I know these 50% appointments. Yes.
• 2:35
Oh, yes. 50% appointments at 100% of my output. No, no, no. No. Oh, no. The math isn't working there, my ladies. [laughs] I went out on the Fargo today. Did you now? I love that bike.
• 2:48
I was going to take photos of it, 'cause I do want to... Don't want to, but I'm gonna have to kinda sell it. I'm gonna kinda sorta sell it. Kinda sell it? I mean- I'm gonna kinda sell it... it's kind of a yes or no.
• 2:57
It's like being kind of pregnant. Well, somebody could buy it with the intention of making sure that I know when they sell it and get first right of refusal on it or something. There is that. But it, it, it's so nice.
• 3:10
I don't wanna sell it. I don't wanna. Um, yeah, I was doing, um, microphone tests on the cameras, so I had the iPhone on there, wherever that thing is, and the little, uh, Insta360 Ace Pro.
• 3:26
And while this case is super large, you gotta just see these things, man. They're so cool. Well, at 300 bucks they should be. It's, this is like 50 bucks. That camera? No, the camera's more. Yeah.
• 3:37
But this little microphone's like 50 bucks. Sounds surprising. It's a little mic air. And then- Like a homing beacon from the Star Wars... the other one is the, uh, the RODE- I watched a Star Wars-...
• 3:49
wireless microphone. Oh, it's also very tiny. Very tiny. This one is super awesome with the iPhone. That one is super awesome with the- Camera... camera. But this doesn't do the camera so well. Mm-mm.
• 4:02
I think that'll work with the phone, too, but just look how tiny that thing is. It's tiny. It's so small, it's very tiny. I'd lose that. Yeah.
• 4:08
And then, you know, it has to have a big-ass case, 'cause you got your dead cat and you got your other stuff and your, your mic- Spare battery or something, or a charger... yeah, your, all sorts of junk in there.
• 4:18
And then you got a doper on the side. That's, that's awesome about this- I thought I saw a doper in there... because this is a charge case. Oh, yeah, I can see that. Two mics there? It... Two in there, yeah.
• 4:27
Two in there, yeah, yeah. This is not, and here's something dumb, in this day and age. What the fuck is this thing? What is that deal? Oh. It's called USB. Yeah. Why? They don't make this anymore. True.
• 4:39
Nobody has it on their computer. Nobody has it on their phone. Every PC has it on it. Well- You're just an Apple guy... shme-C PC, pretty greasy. They're 80% of the market for a reason, dumbass. Yeah, stop it, you.
• 4:50
Oh, it's got the... Does it have- Ouch, facts hurt... does it have that little, uh, microphone poofy thing that I see annoyingly in TikTok videos? A cat. It's a dead cat. Oh, God. I will have a video posted. Oh, God.
• 5:00
I, I, I kinda edited it today, but you, you would be surprised- Are you, are you gonna put it on right by your mouth, like... No, it was clipped on my shirt. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But you'd be surprised.
• 5:08
It was like 15 miles an hour on the bike, 10 mile an hour wind. So 25 mile an hour wind, can't even tell. Mm. The thing does its job. Mm. If you're inside, you don't need it. You just use it like so. Gotcha.
• 5:19
If you're outside- Gotcha... you need that fuzzy- Could you use it inside just in case? Yeah. Okay. You could. There we go. Anyway, there'll be a video up about that. It'll be, it'll be cool.
• 5:30
We'll talk about the Fargo a little bit. I should've talked about it more, 'cause it's really cool. It's a cool bike. Very cool bike. Uh, right on. Mm. What's going on with Tony?
• 5:40
You haven't been on the show for, mm, couple two, three, five, eight weeks. However long it's been. I don't know how long it's been. Uh,
• 5:48
was excited to go to the backyard barbecue, but monkey wrench got thrown into that, so looks like I'll be in downtown Chicago waiting for my daughter to take an exam. Wait, what? What?
• 5:56
What kind of examination is she taking? Um, she is taking an exam that apparently only 10% of the people pass. It is actuarial sciences, and if she passes, that means she's got...
• 6:11
A- and I should be talking about this more excitedly, because if she passes, that means she has an internship next summer which will basically pay for her education. That's a good thing. That's a really good thing. Yes.
• 6:21
'Cause so far I have, I'm very proud to... I'm not proud, I'm, well, I'm proud of my daughter, but I'm also very excited because so far- [laughs]... college has cost me nothing but room and board. Right.
• 6:32
That's, that's right. Which is pretty great in this day and age. Yeah. Yeah. And she also doesn't have any debt.
• 6:36
I think, uh, Garrett will pop out with a little bit, just like Sydney did, but that was, I, we both, all of us decided that that wasn't a bad thing to have a little bit of a- No... skin in the game kind of an idea.
• 6:47
Builds up credit too. Yep. So everything's about, it's good. But yeah, so gonna possibly... Well, her exam is at noon. It's three hours, three and a half hours. So go to that.
• 6:59
Might make it back for a couple of shows in the af- late afternoon. You could get back for the collections of colonies of bees. That's what I'm hoping for. That's... But some of the other bands are really good too. Yeah.
• 7:08
Voodoo, uh, that's my, my attention- That, that's, yeah... is 3:50. So. 3:50, huh? 3:50. They're coming from New Orleans? Yeah. And, and other points. Yeah. And local between.
• 7:19
That, I caught a couple of their tracks on one of the shows on WMAQ this week. I mean, that's, you remember Jay. You remember Jay. Yeah. Jay Anderson from River West Komono.
• 7:26
He, like everybody knows who Jay is except for me. So- Yeah... that should be, I mean, that's gonna be a great show. Again, I'm gonna openly- Yeah... admit, I don't know anything Braid sings. No.
• 7:36
But my- Have you, have you listened to them yet? See, I, yeah, I watched a live show. Did you- Still don't get it. Me either. I too will be in Illinois before the Back Air property.
• 7:45
I'm going to- I thought you were going to the Ren Faire. I am. That's not Illinois. Yeah. Close enough. [laughs] You're gonna go to the- What? I could sneeze. I could- Go to the Bristol 45 Diner.
• 7:55
You, you can't buy a joint there. I am. Yeah. Well, why would I? 'Cause it's the Ren Faire. No. You bring them. [laughs] Okay. Fair. What the hell? [laughs] All right. Fair enough. Fair enough. I got- I mean.
• 8:06
[laughs] I, I gotta show you guys this just so you can see it. I can't buy one at the Rave Eagles Ballroom. Uh, are these they? But guess what? I end up with one. [laughs] Yeah. It's amazing.
• 8:17
[laughs] Kobe decided that he needed those wheels for his Lyn- Lynski. That's, I, it says sign in now. Oh. Oh, you can- Cat Country. Bullshit. Hey, oh yeah. So hey, why don't you get...
• 8:27
I told him he's dumb to do this, but he's gonna do it anyways. Some kind of carbon road Vision blah, blah, blah wheel set. Yeah. I'm like, "You don't need them." He likes those big s- big things. Oh, like the head wheel?
• 8:37
Yeah. Yeah, it's like a head. Somehow. He, yeah. Whatever. Sean, you know, I, he, he doesn't need them, but hey, Kobe, I know you're listening.
• 8:44
You'll, you'll get it, and then you'll, you'll- You're gonna save yourself an ounce and a half- You'll want it... of weight and... Well, he wants narrower tires to go faster. He's always about going fast.
• 8:52
Then why'd you buy a gravel bike? You should've bought a road bike. 'Cause that, that- You hear that, Kobe? Talking to you... 'cause, 'cause that's the right bike for the city of Milwaukee.
• 8:59
I agree, with the right wheels and tires on it. [laughs] Yeah. True. Um. But you know what? If he can do- By the way... if he can do it, he can do it... don't get me started about the Rave, 'cause holy crap. Oh, Lord.
• 9:10
So- I, I, I, dude, I have already, I passed on the int- like, uh, trying to get tickets for, uh, Atmosphere and Cypress Hill and Pharsight. So I do have tickets for those.
• 9:22
Well, I mean, I would not mind, well, at definitely three of the four bands. Yeah. Lupe Fiasco I'm in, in agreement. Oh, see, for me it's just the opposite. I want to see Lupe Fiasco.
• 9:35
I could easily leave for Cypress Hill. Oh, I love Cypress Hill. I love Atmosphere. And Atmosphere. I like Cypress Hill just fine, but Atmosphere is so good. And Pharside, Pharside is like a damn time machine.
• 9:43
I'll be like, ooh. Push, Push Coast. I am gonna be in- Great song... I'm gonna be in the freaking- Why are we fucking Rave then? What, what's happening? Because it's the- So I went-...
• 9:51
the venue that can hold this amount of humanity... I, no, I went on- Kind of thing... Friday night to see LCD Soundsystem, and I will say that they s- I, so the last time I had seen LCD Soundsystem was oddly enough
• 10:03
15 years ago at the Rave, and Hot Chip opened for them. And it was, Hot Chip is, like, one of my all-time favorite bands. LCD Soundsystem is right up there.
• 10:12
The acoustics were so bad the s- that the s- the whole show I was like, I was pissed. Was it in the up, up, upstairs? It was in the ballroom. Oh. Was- Were there a lot of people? And, and I was in the balcony.
• 10:21
Apparently not enough. Yeah. Yeah. 'Cause that's the deal. That place needs to be packed with people. So Friday night- And it has to be loud and raving music...
• 10:26
Friday night for the show I saw, I saw Dana, Dave and Dana Danos. Dina, Dana. Ugh. Uh, and, um, but first of all, they tout about their new air conditioning and how much greater the place is. LCD Soundsystem?
• 10:41
Um, no, the Rave. Oh. And- Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah... on two occasions LCD Soundsystem was like, "Is it hot as fuck in here?" And we're like, "Yes." It's like, it was like a damp sweat the entire show.
• 10:54
Good to know. Good to know. And you know- 'Cause I've heard the same thing. I hear people blasting about it. And I'm like, I doubt, and then I doubt it. And they, they don't let you leave. There's no stamps or anything.
• 11:02
So I show up. I have to listen to a moderately bad DJ for an hour and 45 minutes while paying $14 for a fucking 12 ounce Happy Place. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I'm like, and I'm sorry, that is captive audience bullshit.
• 11:18
Oh, yes. Well, they don't really- Yeah. And did you pay for tickets or did you get free tickets? I did... Well, no, I won tickets. Oh. A lot of people go in there for free, so they're- Yeah...
• 11:26
like making money off the beers. [laughs] Forever. Then okay, then I'm sorry. Forever and ever. Fuck them. Drop the price of a beer down to nine bucks and let people pay. Yeah. Well, it's, they can't get them to pay.
• 11:34
It's like a scam. Well, then- That's the, they cannot get them to pay. That's the whole thing. So- It's been this way since the fucking- I, Molly is getting the tickets for Cypress Hill and giving them to Joshua...
• 11:42
since the '90s. Like, go have fun. We're not coming here. Speaking of not paying, Corey Bowman went around the George Webbs because the Brewers won the 12 games. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And got- Got a bunch of shitty burgers?
• 11:55
... got, got six of, he stopped at six different George Webbs. [laughs] What an idiot. Nice. Corey, I know you're listening. We love you. [laughs] Well done. Well done. I just never was going to do- I-... any of them...
• 12:07
I think it, he- Did he save one of them and sign it so he can sell it like his baseball cards? He did it for us. I think he put it in the freezer maybe.
• 12:14
Yeah, or your, your, your, uh, whatever you- Or save one of your vouchers... uh- It'll be on eBay in, like, 10 years... for- Yeah, you spray it with the thing, you know, the stuff Preservatives?
• 12:22
Yeah, the, the stuff that you put in the glass for the- I think McDonald's used to do a old, back to the old days pricing thing where you could get a cheeseburger for, like, five cents, and you could buy, like, 30 of them or something.
• 12:34
Yeah. And then you just put them in the freezer. Those poor employees. Yeah. I mean- I mean, they're not good, but they're not bad. They're above a Dirty Ron, and they're below- Yeah, below a Camino or something.
• 12:44
Yeah I mean, way below. Way, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're below a Culver's. Are you talking about Webby's? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're below a Culver's. Yeah. In between Wendy's and McDonald's, I'll say. Okay. How about that?
• 12:55
There you go. Somewhere in there. That Wendy's- Al- although Wendy's i- is no good in the Milwaukee area. Sure. You've got to go outside the metro to get a good Wendy's.
• 13:02
I- So the day before, uh, Cloud Red over in Shorewood, which used to be a Webbs- They were talking about that-... which I did- which I didn't know... at Amorphic, yeah... and I was like, I was like, "Hot damn."
• 13:11
I w- I, I was... I'd stop by there- 40, 40 or more years ago- Yeah... 'cause that was, that was a Village Pub for 25 years. Forever. Yeah, I used to go there. I went by about,
• 13:22
excuse me, 1:30 or so, and they started at 2:00. And there was about 15 people in line. Wow. And I had to run back- That was probably a wait that I'd order...
• 13:30
I had to run back to campus, and I was like, "Oh, shit, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun." I came back, three blocks deep. I'm just like, "I don't have the patience." [laughs] And I know it'd be a hell of a lot better burger.
• 13:41
Nah, not- Oh, yeah. Yeah... not gonna do it. Cloud- Cloud Red's burger? Shit. Yeah. I was just doing a simple smash burger. That was it. Well, if you would've been there with the 15 people, you would've been all right.
• 13:50
Yeah. I don't know. Work intruded, damn it. Damn it. [growls] Tony, what do you got? Let- let's, let's talk about that fancy-ass lock you got there. What's going on with that?
• 13:59
Well, I, I caught wind of a great deal on Abus locks- You broke wind? [laughs]... by this guy named Sven. It's, uh, it's a- So-... it's an industry deal, 'cause Tony's a bike shop employee- So this here-...
• 14:11
to this day... is for those people that always lose their keys, like me. I just simply go, and it opens. [laughs] Is it, is it actually called a Yardo? Yeah. Yardo is the brand. I don't know.
• 14:24
I think I'm, I'm- Or the make... the Bor- it's a Bordo, right? No, it's a Yardo. Let me, let me try mine, Tony. Oh, go ahead. Okay, but- Try all your fingers... I mean, it's still an Abus. It's an Abus lock. Yeah.
• 14:34
Try them all, baby. See if you can get it to go. It, it ain't gonna let you in. It's, it's pretty freaking impressive. It's also a deadly weapon.
• 14:42
I mean, it's the heaviest lock I've ever owned, and it swings like it could do some serious... Especially if you were to- This is like my old Kryptonite. Heavy like Sam... if I take my finger and open it,
• 14:51
then you have this much room to start smacking somebody. Watch your shins. You're going down. Is it, uh- Watch your shins... does it also have an app? Nope.
• 14:59
Watch your shins because- It's all prime programmable by that button... I've done the same thing. So it's an Abus Yardo. Yardo. And they're about, what, new they're about 170 bucks or something, right? 100, yeah, 170.
• 15:09
That's the long one. I got the longest one, so yeah, maybe 179. Yeah. Well, they make good stuff. But- I've, I've g- I've got the, uh-... it's level eight, um- Okay... cut ability out of 15, so it's, you know.
• 15:21
Yeah, I've got that one that we reviewed that is the one that's angled grinder proof. That's their, that's 15 plus. And it weighs, like, eight pounds or something. Yeah. That's a beefy, that's a beefy lock. It's beefy.
• 15:30
Well, if you wanna save your stuff, you need a good lock, folks. Right. That's pretty much how it works here in the old, uh, metro areas these days.
• 15:37
Well, don't get bike-napped when you're unlocking, and then they force you to do it, and then they steal your bike. And they cut your fingertip off and say, "Ha." [laughs] At that point, take my fucking bike. Yeah.
• 15:46
I mean, I'm not, it's just a bike. Ugh. But it's a cool lock. Just l- keep, leave me, leave me the lock for God's sakes. [laughs] Nothing else. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Leave me something with this.
• 15:56
It is pretty cool, I will admit. It's, uh- You've taken my bike and my dignity... I got it yesterday in the mail. I r- I rushed home to get it so a porch pirate didn't steal it.
• 16:03
[laughs] Um, and then I brought it back to work and programmed it, and I'm like, "Okay, this is kind of cool."
• 16:08
So it's gonna be Cleo's for her electric bike, 'cause I'm not gonna let her use her shitty bike that Lock picked yesterday. And then you're gonna have to come and unlock it every time?
• 16:14
No, it can have up to 20 different fingerprints. Oh, boy. Oh, okay. All right. I'm not on the list apparently. No, you didn't make the list. [laughs] Just saying, listen.
• 16:22
Hey, this is the new, uh, this is the new Bikepacking Journal. Uh, number 14 came out recently. So is it a journal to keep your own notes, or has it actually got- No, no, it's, it's all stories... oh, see, it's got info.
• 16:33
It's from thebikepacking.com and- Oh, look at Pence and Pedals, Wave Form. Just, just smell it. It smells so good. Oh, it does smell good. Just like it's been freshly printed. Oh, that is good. Uh- See that?...
• 16:45
if you are a b- Just give that a little smell... if you're a bikepacking.com member, you will get to it easier. Ooh, right? As well as- Ooh, it's got-... as well as a bunch of deals on other stuff.
• 16:53
They've got some pretty good deals going on. It's like you just opened a box of them. And then it has a fancy r- uh, what is that one? Roots- They always-... of Caravans...
• 17:00
yeah, they always put in there a poster also that is large and hand-drawn and, and, and very cool. I don't even know where that one is. Is that- Yeah... Atlantic Ocean, uh, where are we at? The, the- Portu-...
• 17:15
uh, is that Portugal? Uh, Tangier. No, this is, uh, Northern Africa. Oh, yeah. Tangier and the, uh- Gotcha... Pillars of Hercules here, which would be the Strait of Gibraltar. Yes, indeed. Nicely- Tangier...
• 17:29
nicely hand-drawn. I have been there. Oh my, it is a place. Yes. Speaking of- You've been to Tangier? Nice... speaking of a place that you get passively kidnapped at. [laughs] Touristing kidnapped. Yeah.
• 17:43
"No, we're going to take you with us. No, no, you will go to the restaurant of my cousin and da, da, da, da. We will take care of everything." Oh, it was- That happens in Amsterdam, too.
• 17:52
Yeah, but I was like, I, I was on pain medications, 'cause I had a torn bicep and a jammed up thumb, and I was not really- All there...
• 18:00
I was kind of, yeah, I was kind of in the spirit world the whole time, and it was just like, "What is going on? [laughs] I don't know what's happening." Make, make my day. Yeah.
• 18:07
[laughs] It was after a 12-hour bus ride to get to- Gibraltar to go on the ferry to get to Tangier. So- So I was out of it... Portugal is kind of by Spain, isn't it? Yeah, well, I- Abutting it... I, okay.
• 18:18
Like right next door. So a lot of, a lot of that trip was based on [laughs] really bad, uh, perception of maps. It's only that far away on the map. It only- Yeah... that far away. Yeah.
• 18:31
Yeah, 12 hours on a fucking bus is what that was. [laughs] And ah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, but, uh, if you- I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. It was such an experience.
• 18:41
If you're a bike racing fan, uh, La Vuelta starts this Saturday, which is- Oh, ho, ho... the tour of Spain, basically the same thing as a Tour de France, only say it with me, in Spain. España.
• 18:54
Similar three-week- España... badass. Some pretty serious hill climbs in Spain, too. Did you say hill? Oh. Yes, I think he did say hill. [bell ringing] [laughs] There must be a top. There is a top o' the hill. Right.
• 19:09
Today was a fridge cleaning day, and the- Leftover night... it, it's, it's, you know, it's getting to be the end of the summer. Sport. We gotta make sure this stuff doesn't sit in the fridge too long.
• 19:18
I think this is my first Half Acre Wave, Waybird? Waybird. Uh, yeah, when did we have that one? I don't- That one's, that one's been around for a little bit. Yeah. Yeah, I think so, based on the taste.
• 19:28
[laughs] This is a Mosh Pit Juicy Pale from Surly Brewing Company. That's a good beer. That's a good beer. It is a good one. I started with the Terrapin Haze- High & Hazy. Nice, always.
• 19:38
I'm gonna finish up with- And then I went to-... Founder's Mortar Blue... I, I also see a Founder's Mortar Blue, Blue.
• 19:41
I'm finishing up with the, uh, with, uh, Port Washington's, uh, house wine, the hazy little- Thanks for the new nickname. I do like it. [laughs] That was- That almost went all over the microphone.
• 19:56
[laughs] The, uh, the, the- Full spit take... bruising on my legs are still coming through. Tony, Tony the Turtle? That was- Turtle, Turtle, Turtle. [laughs] I had, Sunday was a full day of recovery, ice on both knees.
• 20:09
Um- You had a very clean bottom. I mean, I had a very clean, and my bike was immaculate when we got home, too. [laughs] Oh, that was, yeah, yeah. It was great. I was like, I looked- Like, wow...
• 20:17
I'm like, wow, I really don't have to do a whole lot of- The only thing I need to do is oil my chain. Yeah. My, mine was, I use, uh, Rock n' Roll lube on my chain- Yeah, I should've...
• 20:25
which is, which is great in the sand except that you have to immediately deal with it. Otherwise, you get a little rust on your chain. Yeah. Which was no big deal, but,
• 20:32
um- Especially when you're riding a Box nine setup... uh, but y- yeah, which was okay on the beach. I'm,
• 20:39
yeah, I always end up, and it, maybe I change the front gearing a little bit, but I always end up right by the jump. Mm.
• 20:46
Because the ones that are on the lower end, like the lower five, are pretty close together for your faster moving and your, you know. But that jump between the one and then that one and then that one, and you're like...
• 20:58
It, it i- it isn't like you can keep spinning and just kind of slowly slow down. You slow down immediately- Yeah... because now you're, now you're going- It, it's quick speed... yeah. Now you're, right. It's quick speed.
• 21:07
Uh, there are- I still like them... there are pros because of the narrow nine-speed, or the wider nine-speed chain compared to the narrower 12 stuff. But like the Michigan trip where we were on
• 21:18
mostly, well, not mostly, mm, whatever, three-quarters or better road, I would've loved to have the 12-speed. On the beach, it didn't really matter. Ah. But, um, yeah. I don't know.
• 21:31
I'd like to have a 12-speed but with a nine-speed chain. Just have to have a w- even wider rear end, though. Actually, because that Bear Claw can take a roll off, that's still in the future of that bike. Huh.
• 21:44
It'll be the, it'll be the until I croak bike. Blood moon. The blood moon rise. Is that what our next, uh, f- full moon beach ride is? Yeah, blood moon. Gonna be red. It's gonna be a hard call, man.
• 21:55
Poker ride, depends on the weather. Mm, yeah, I- If the weather's beautiful, I'll probably full moon it. But if the weather's even questionable- I got a bad feeling. I got a bad feeling about the poker ride.
• 22:04
It's gonna be inside, though. I'm okay with that, though. Yeah. It's inside at Linneman's. Eh. That could still be fun. It'll be fun. I don't, I don't have a problem with that.
• 22:11
We should have them reschedule it for a non-full moon day. And outdoors. Good luck with that. And outdoors. I'm just an outdoors guy. 'Cause they're not gonna- I'm an outdoors cat.
• 22:18
I, I- They're not gonna have 500 people in Linneman's. Yeah, they could've tried pulling it off at the Wu Tang Park. Yeah, could have. 'Cause it does have power. Yeah.
• 22:26
Courtesy of Tim and Tony, and apparently before they broke up the, uh, River West bid, Locust Street bid. Which that building is for sale still, $549,000. I've been trying to get Steve to do something about that. Yeah.
• 22:42
It's a lot of space for him. If he could- Still a lot of money, but... I don't know. If there's a way to boot out the, um, the vape guys and give me my shop back. [laughs] Both units? Yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah.
• 22:55
Didn't the new v- the old place knock out the next door cellular place? Right. But, but going the other way west- Didn't they?... between Rusty's guitar shop- Yeah...
• 23:05
and, or the old bike shop, where the guy that works at Wonderland, the artist that lived in there- Yeah... when he moved out, that would be a perfect expansion, because all of- To the old bike shop, just those two...
• 23:17
yeah, all that's between that and the bike shop is a- Just two doors... there's two big arches- Yeah... and it's all drywall. You could just knock that stuff out. It would've been...
• 23:25
Kind of remind me of, uh, Yellow Jersey in Madison. I think they- Oh... were in, like, six different- Spaces... buildings, like side by side. It's like, oh, we need a new one for the repair shop. We'll get this building.
• 23:36
We need a new one for whatever. We'll get this one, and- Cool... it just kept expanding. Well, it's like the- But it was very eclectic... yeah, kind of, uh, Madison with the, uh, Essen Haus, Hotel
• 23:48
Ruby Marie, and some other bar. They're like all just like [clicking] right, like all connected- Right... but independent, but- Yeah... connected, but- Yeah... in, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. See? Yeah.
• 24:00
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, hey- Separate but together... I think we talked about this a couple weeks ago. Giant, I don't know, this is a 2022 bike, so maybe they're still making fat bikes at Giant.
• 24:12
I'm sure they're making them for someone. I'm not sure if they're gonna be under their own brand. For Giants? But last time we talked about this bike, it was- 2299, originally $1,500. You're like, "Oh, that's not bad."
• 24:22
  Now 799. For a $2,500 fat bike? 2299. $2,300 fat bike. It's, uh, it's, it's SRAM NX, it's Maxxis good tires, it's 27.5. It's got all... It's decent stuff for 800 bucks.
• 24:38
No wonder there's no, you know, aftermarket sales of fat bikes anymore. Right. When you can buy a brand new one for 800 bucks that's good- That's good, yeah...
• 24:47
not $800 for something that is not really passable without putting- Right on... new tires on. Right on. Yeah You know, whatever, whatever. Drop another thousand bucks on it. Yeah. Right.
• 24:55
You can make your $800 bike good- Kim's... for another thousand bucks. Kim's Megolift, [laughs] you mean. Yeah, kinda sorta. Kind of, in that- Yeah... where you have to... It was, it was a...
• 25:05
Yeah, at the time it was a good thing. Yeah. Oh, I know. I, I- And then it was like, eh. Yep, yep, yep.
• 25:11
I'm just glad you got your wheels back because that bike did not deserve wheels that cost three times more than [laughs] that bike does. [laughs] And it was kinda fun ro- rolling on...
• 25:21
Well, and then I got, uh, her skins in that, so I got an Endomorph. I have, I have a young- I'm like, "I have an Endomorph. I'm, I'm rolling on an Endomorph."
• 25:29
I, I have a young coworker who is, like, very new into cycling, and I had my Ape and in the office, and I bring that up and park it in the office 'cause I'm not about to lock that up in a rack.
• 25:42
And, uh, one of my coworkers has a- You're learning... right You're, you're learning. You still have ice though, didn't you?
• 25:47
One of, right, one of my, one of my coworkers has some sort of specialized gravel bike, and he was, like, looking at the two of them. He's like, "So, you know, why is your bike so much better than his?"
• 25:58
I'm like- [laughs] I'm like, "Well..." It's, like, existential. [laughs] I'm like, "I don't really wanna be an elitist here, but my hubs cost as much as that bike." [laughs] And he's like, "What?"
• 26:10
I'm like, "I guess I am an elitist." Yeah, kinda. 'Cause, yeah, I have Hope hubs on this bike, and they are very expensive and- Yeah, but they last-... you know... forever with- Exactly...
• 26:19
a- and they're rebuildable and, you know. Yeah. Unlike you, you know? The Glen Gary move, this one. "You like my watch? This watch, you like? This watch costs more than your car." [laughs] Which is silly, but you know.
• 26:33
Yeah. Yeah. For sure. I was catching you. Yeah. But yeah. I'm catching what you're hanging, though.
• 26:36
He, he, he was pretty funny to, to kinda, like, explain the difference between hydraulic and mechanically actuated disc brakes and so I, I gave him some good, some good lessons.
• 26:45
Good tips on why he should spend more money on bicycles. Right. Right on. Uh, next week we're going to have Dave Schlabowski on the show. Ooh, is that him? I d- [laughs] I don't think so.
• 26:59
He does have some, uh, routes on the- His legs cannot be that good... on the bikepacking.com. And he does have an affection for orange. [laughs] Yeah, that's true, so. So does that guy across the table. Yeah.
• 27:11
I know you're sitting on an orange chair. Look at the, look at the, look at the big N- Nook case right behind you for... Case in point. Case in point. Is, is, is, is orange. It is orange. Case and point.
• 27:20
And pointing at the orange case. And point. Case and point. Yes, there are reasons for orange. Because it goes with purple, basically. Wow. There you go. You got two birds stoned at the same time for that one.
• 27:30
[laughs] Lots of things go with purple, though. Black. Yellow kinda sorta. Yeah. Oranges would be, yeah, that would be good. We're all pink on the inside. Yeah. Meow. All right, everybody.
• 27:42
[laughs] Well, Tony joined us today. Just so- That was, that was a good thing... so deep. Thank you, Tony. Uh, don't forget we should go over there and get your- Get my cooler. Get your Bog.
• 27:49
Look at, uh, Cleon's soon to be electric bike. We can all take one bicycle downstairs 'cause I got a guy coming to pick up three bikes that we tuned up and rebuilt and blah blah blah. Oh, really?
• 28:01
Around 7:00 PM here on a, on a Wednesday. Right arm. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it wa- it was a couple regular tune-ups. I don't know what happened to the guy's, his Trek on a, a, but whatever.
• 28:14
I don't know if it was on his bike rack in the back and the cables, uh, you know, the outer housing were going thwackety thwackety thwackety thwack, but all of the outer plastic came off and all that was left w- was the inside wires.
• 28:30
So I don't know how that happened. Were they ancient and it just cracked? Probably. Yeah, they were probably just old. Sun, sun faded and- Probably UV... yeah. Well, I don't know.
• 28:37
I mean, they, I think they keep them in garages, but... And the other, the, the good fun was rebuilding the, like, '94 or something GT mountain bike for his daughter- I see...
• 28:48
'cause it was his when he was a kid or something like that. I almost sent you a message that I saw a very pristine same color as your and I's 950- Ooh... for $130.
• 28:58
That's the thing about that bike is nobody knows what it is. I was like, and it's our size too. I'm like- Yeah... "Ah, I just can't spend any money right now," but that's a s- killer- Yeah... OX platinum frame set.
• 29:09
I kinda feel like that- Oh... bike with, with original LX stuff that wasn't used very much and, and a Control Tech stem and a zoom bar, that's $350- Right... minimum. Right. Because it's better than...
• 29:21
What else can you buy? Right. Nothing. And that thing rides like a dream. Yeah, they are pretty nice. Downhill, they're fun to ride, they're quick. Oh, yeah. I've, I saw it and I'm like, "Ooh, Molly would kill me." Yeah.
• 29:34
Especially, you know, I'm trying to buy a car and shit. You don't need more bikes. I do not need more bikes. [laughs] I got a lot of bikes. All right, everybody, thank you very much for joining us. Hi, doctor.
• 29:45
Uh, there are updates available for my computer system. Oh. I will wait till later tonight. Ah, yes. I'm gonna push the install tonight business. Mm-hmm. Oh, now it... Okay. Really? Now I have to do this.
• 29:54
Now it's just gonna do it. What's your password? Yeah. Well, I don't want some schmuck updating my computer. Does it have a thumbprint? Uh, yeah, it's over here. No, it's over here. It's a fingerprint.
• 30:03
It's actually a fingerprint. Finger. Yeah, it's kind- E-T-... it's kinda like a lock, only different... bone. Ouch. All right. Ouch. Next week- You're dead. Next week- Out...
• 30:12
it do- it, it won't matter to you people, but we're doing this on, uh, Tuesday next week. We'll be right here. Oh.
• 30:23
  [rock music] Oh.
