- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I hope everybody's enjoying their morning run.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I'm out for a morning run right now, trying to send out my holler heights to everybody before it's probably make it a great one.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Can't wait to see everyone at Burdenham.
- 1:11SPEAKER_05: Thank you, Michelle, all the way from the Buffalo Wing Festival.
- 1:16SPEAKER_05: Now, follow-up to her intro, it was a real festival, a real competition.
- 1:21SPEAKER_05: They took first place, best in show, festival favorite, and served, catch this, over 11,500 wings.
- 1:34SPEAKER_09: Wow.
- 1:35SPEAKER_05: That's a lot of chicken wings.
- 1:39SPEAKER_05: So congratulations on all that.
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: Michelle, we'll see you at Bird in the Hand.
- 1:44SPEAKER_05: Friends, we're glad you're here.
- 1:47SPEAKER_05: Welcome.
- 1:48SPEAKER_05: Welcome to episode 258 of the Rise and Run podcast.
- 1:54SPEAKER_05: I'm Bob, and this week I am joined by Jack.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: Ah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_05: By Greg.
- 1:59SPEAKER_05: Hey, hey, hey.
- 2:01SPEAKER_05: By John.
- 2:02SPEAKER_05: Hey, how you doing?
- 2:03SPEAKER_05: And by Alicia.
- 2:05SPEAKER_09: Hello.
- 2:05SPEAKER_05: It is great to see you, my friends.
- 2:08SPEAKER_05: Happy Tuesday.
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: Happy first day of September.
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: Is it cold now where y'all live?
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: No.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Absolutely not.
- 2:17SPEAKER_08: It's very wet.
- 2:19SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 2:20SPEAKER_06: I had my first uh pumpkin, whatever.
- 2:23SPEAKER_06: Oh, don't tell me you're a pumpkin spice latte girly, Bob.
- 2:27SPEAKER_06: I don't I like it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_05: I don't I don't get in line uh on opening day to get it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_05: What did I have today?
- 2:35SPEAKER_06: Did you wear your puffy vest and ug boots too?
- 2:38SPEAKER_06: I wore my tinkerbell skirt.
- 2:40SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: Was it with a cable net sweater?
- 2:45unknown: No.
- 2:46SPEAKER_05: It's a good flavor.
- 2:48SPEAKER_05: I enjoyed it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_09: I like pumpkin spice.
- 2:50unknown: Yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_08: No apologies.
- 2:52SPEAKER_08: I don't care.
- 2:53SPEAKER_08: But everything doesn't have to be pumpkin spice right now.
- 2:56SPEAKER_08: Oh, I I it's overplayed for sure.
- 2:59SPEAKER_08: Pumpkin spice Cheerios.
- 3:01SPEAKER_08: Pumpkin spice.
- 3:02SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 3:02SPEAKER_08: Whoop cream.
- 3:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's a bit, yeah, I agree with that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_05: It's a bit much.
- 3:06SPEAKER_05: But yeah, I stopped by this afternoon, grab one.
- 3:10SPEAKER_05: Anyway, this week, our guest is Devin Siebold, the theme park comedian.
- 3:16SPEAKER_05: Maybe you've seen some of his work on Facebook, Instagram with his partner James.
- 3:22SPEAKER_05: Really entertaining interview.
- 3:24SPEAKER_05: A lot of fun.
- 3:25SPEAKER_05: Interesting fella, in addition to being funny.
- 3:28SPEAKER_05: Hope you enjoy that.
- 3:30SPEAKER_05: In the race report spotlight, Jenny ran the 10 miler in Annapolis, Maryland, and she joins us to tell us how that went.
- 3:40SPEAKER_09: If you enjoyed the Rise Around Podcast, please share us with your friends and introduce them to the Rise Around family.

- 4:18SPEAKER_06: The Rise and Run Podcast is sponsored by our glorious friends over at Magic Bound Travel.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: And I will say this week is going to be a very, very busy week for our friends over at Magic Bound because this week, the fall 2027 through spring 2028, Disney Cruise Line itineraries went on sale for castaway club members.
- 4:46SPEAKER_06: I think it goes on sale for the general public, I think a week from day of recording on uh yes, September 8th.
- 4:54SPEAKER_06: So if you're interested in booking a cruise uh for that time frame, it is imperative that you contact our friends over at MBT to get you those no obligation quotes because just like rooms at Walt Disney World, the cheapest time you are going to get a cruise is as soon as it opens.
- 5:16SPEAKER_06: So make sure to put in those requests, and you can do so by visiting magicboundtravel.com.
- 5:23SPEAKER_06: And I will say what's really exciting about at least this batch is a whole bunch of new uh cruise terminals.
- 5:29SPEAKER_06: DCL officially back in New York City.
- 5:32SPEAKER_06: I think only for seven sailings, though.
- 5:35SPEAKER_06: But if you know for all of us up here in the northeast that want to go on DCL, those are some ones that you want to hop on.
- 5:41SPEAKER_06: Uh, I think Alicia, I you've done this before.
- 5:44SPEAKER_06: Uh uh a Panama Canal cruise, I think they're gonna be doing on the magic.
- 5:48SPEAKER_06: I forget where that sails out of, but lots of cool itinerary.
- 5:52SPEAKER_06: So you want to go check them out again.
- 5:54SPEAKER_06: Visit our friends over at magicboundtravel.com.
- 5:58SPEAKER_05: Interesting.
- 5:58SPEAKER_05: Need to look into that further.
- 6:00SPEAKER_05: Last week I mentioned that we were approaching 600,000 downloads in the history of the podcast, and in fact, that happened.
- 6:08SPEAKER_05: We are now at 600 2,000.
- 6:10SPEAKER_05: I mention it because I want to thank you, friends.
- 6:13SPEAKER_05: We reached these numbers because of you, obviously, but it's not just the numbers, it's the the love and the dedication, and we just are so happy to have you and be a part of this Run Disney family.
- 6:31SPEAKER_05: So 600, 700, I don't know, probably next summer sometime, if things stay about as they've been for the last couple of years.
- 6:42SPEAKER_05: Training schedules, wine and dine, seven weeks away.
- 6:48SPEAKER_05: 49 days.
- 6:49SPEAKER_05: I'm excited.
- 6:50SPEAKER_05: It's getting closer.
- 6:53SPEAKER_05: Training week number 11.
- 6:56SPEAKER_05: Four miles with a magic mile.
- 6:59SPEAKER_05: And I looked at the schedule, and by golly, I'm not sure I still understood this, but for the next, I think it's the next four weeks, every other week you have a magic mile.
- 7:12SPEAKER_05: It's a little overkill, but that's what's on the schedule.
- 7:16SPEAKER_05: If you do them, great.
- 7:17SPEAKER_05: And remember, the magic mile is a is a tool, it's a measuring tool, it's it's not so much a training tool.
- 7:24SPEAKER_05: I did post officially the date and time for the meetup.
- 7:28SPEAKER_05: It's in the events in our Facebook group, and I was pretty excited because I did it earlier this week.
- 7:35SPEAKER_05: Uh the meetup will be as it's been all along, 3 p.m.
- 7:39SPEAKER_05: on Saturday, in the food truck area.
- 7:43SPEAKER_05: I guess it's still the food truck area, the food trucks are gone.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: But not long after I had posted it, I went back and saw we had 60 people say they were going.
- 7:53SPEAKER_05: I know we normally get more than that, but we normally have fewer than that who respond.
- 7:59SPEAKER_05: In fact, we typically get twice the number of people there as we get respondents.
- 8:06SPEAKER_05: So with 60 already saying they're going to be there, I think it'll be a big meetup.
- 8:10SPEAKER_05: Those are so much fun, my friends.
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: If if you've been to one before, I think you know I don't think.
- 8:18SPEAKER_05: I know you know what I'm talking about.
- 8:19SPEAKER_05: But if you haven't been, please try to join us.
- 8:22SPEAKER_05: Uh I've I've asked our friends over at the One More Run the Podcast to join us also.
- 8:30SPEAKER_05: That by the way, I I know many of you listen to that.
- 8:34SPEAKER_05: AJ and Erica do a wonderful job over there.
- 8:36SPEAKER_05: That's a great podcast.
- 8:37SPEAKER_05: And if you're not listening to it, give it a listen.
- 8:40SPEAKER_05: So we may have we may have guests join us, but I know that you feel like I do.
- 8:46SPEAKER_05: The more people we have there, the more opportunity we have to meet new friends and get to know our Run Disney community, the better it is.
- 8:53SPEAKER_05: So, seven weeks away, getting excited.
- 8:56SPEAKER_05: Let's look at Marathon Weekend now.
- 8:59SPEAKER_05: 18 weeks until the 5k.
- 9:02SPEAKER_05: Training week number 10.
- 9:04SPEAKER_05: Long run now 11 miles.
- 9:07SPEAKER_05: The numbers are coming up, and I suspect we're gonna talk about that in just a minute.
- 9:13SPEAKER_05: I had invited friends, you know, we've been talking about other races that are not Disney related.
- 9:21SPEAKER_05: We're I invited friends to tell us if they had some they wanted to chat about.
- 9:26SPEAKER_05: So we'll do that later in the episode, because there's a bunch of them.
- 9:29SPEAKER_05: So we're gonna do that later.
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: But in the meantime, as we have been doing, let's take a look at how the training's been going as the numbers start to increase.
- 9:41SPEAKER_05: Friends, what kind of training updates do we have?
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: I had the most disgusting thing happen to me.
- 9:47SPEAKER_05: Oh my goodness.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: Did it involve a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: It worse.
- 9:53SPEAKER_03: This involved what I could add to my protein number at the end of the day.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: Um, you know how some I don't know, you guys like run with your mouths open?
- 10:07SPEAKER_08: That's how I breathe.
- 10:08SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: You breathe through your nose, out through your mouth.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Out through your mouth.
- 10:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: Dude, I must have been like so like in a black abyss or something because this big chunky like in like flying insect, I'm like, oh, it was like a split-second thing.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: I had my mouth open.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: It flew deep into the depths of my like throat.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: And I just I tried hacking it out, like it hasn't met mile two, and I'm just like, this is the worst thing I think I've ever experienced, and I couldn't get it out.
- 10:42SPEAKER_06: On behalf of the Rise and Run Podcast, if you're experiencing PTSD right now, you can send all complaints to Jack at Rise and Run Podcast.com.
- 10:50SPEAKER_03: Well, it's kind of like you know how like they say on average, everybody eats like a two spiders a year on average.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's not true.
- 10:58SPEAKER_08: It's usually three.
- 11:00SPEAKER_08: That's not true.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: This dude was a chunky dude, whatever flew back there.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: But anyways, I have no clue.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: That would be a big bug.
- 11:11SPEAKER_03: I don't know, but like I just I was I was scarred because there's like little ponds where I run by, and then when I get back, like, okay, I get that I ran in the evening, but then I have in my sweat these dead gnats just sitting on my forehead and my cheek.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: I'm like, how many insects are dying?
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: I like trying avoid slipping on them in the ground.
- 11:37SPEAKER_08: Like literally my Jack the human windshield.
- 11:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah, right.
- 11:41SPEAKER_08: At least you've never read you've never ridden a motorcycle or a bike before.
- 11:46SPEAKER_08: It's been a while.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I just this was a very devastating run, and I just feel like Jack, this doesn't feel like a training update.
- 11:55SPEAKER_06: Uh, I know not everyone can can, you know, or obviously no one can see you, but I feel I know you're sitting on your couch right now, but I feel like this is like a therapy session.
- 12:03SPEAKER_06: I feel like you need to like reposition yourself to be laying down on the couch and and you know and recounting all of this.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: I'm afraid to go running after work again, genuinely speaking.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: Like, what do I do?
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: Like, Direc Vader, you know, like I don't know what to do with that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_05: Full face shield, full face shield.
- 12:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, did you did you listen to last week's episode?
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I was there.
- 12:30SPEAKER_05: For the interview with Dean.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: Oh no, no.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: So, okay.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: So I was going to listen to that during my run, but I happened to listen to a four-year amusement um March Madness podcast episode, and I didn't know there was a part two, which I was going to insert for the Dean Carnassus interview that we did last week, but then there was a part two, and I just had to know what the best attraction in America was.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: They're just so funny.
- 12:58SPEAKER_08: Okay, and you're gonna leave us hanging?
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: No, that's that's for the next long run.
- 13:04SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 13:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, it's a valid discussion, Jack, is nutrition during long runs.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: So I at least got one gram of protein.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: That would be my guess.
- 13:15SPEAKER_05: Just remember, Jack, nothing new on race day, okay.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: No.
- 13:19SPEAKER_05: Any other they're not gonna be that exciting.
- 13:22SPEAKER_05: Any other stories?
- 13:23SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 13:24SPEAKER_08: I did my long run this this week weekend, uh, and I put on the uh hydro patch, which I told like Bob Bob did it a couple weeks ago.
- 13:34SPEAKER_08: I did my test.
- 13:36SPEAKER_08: So two weeks ago I did my long run.
- 13:38SPEAKER_08: I didn't wear my high the hydro patch.
- 13:40SPEAKER_08: I wanted to wear it this week.
- 13:42SPEAKER_08: Weather was close to the same, so I'm gonna get a good idea.
- 13:47SPEAKER_08: Uh they work pretty well, I think.
- 13:50SPEAKER_08: I mean, hydration-wise, I've been wearing a vest for my hydration, two bladders of water.
- 13:58SPEAKER_08: I don't use the back bladder, those collapsible bottles, which puts about 12, 16 ounces on each side.
- 14:08SPEAKER_08: 16, yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_08: And I've you've been using those.
- 14:11SPEAKER_08: And two weeks ago, I ran out of water and and and hydration because I used it all up.
- 14:17SPEAKER_08: Uh this week I basically used my basic water up, and I still had half a bottle of uh my electrolyte drink uh still available.
- 14:30SPEAKER_08: I mean, starting that run last Saturday, I really didn't want to run.
- 14:35SPEAKER_08: It was one of those days like I was tired.
- 14:37SPEAKER_08: I woke up late.
- 14:38SPEAKER_08: Um less tired.
- 14:39SPEAKER_08: I I go, this is gonna be horrible.
- 14:42SPEAKER_08: And actually, it was it was actually a pretty good run.
- 14:44SPEAKER_08: Uh I put the patch on and usually I I wasn't as thirsty for the first seven, eight miles of of that run.
- 14:53SPEAKER_08: So I and I felt good.
- 14:56SPEAKER_08: I mean, usually I'm you know chowing down water like left and right.
- 15:01SPEAKER_08: I have a heavy sweater, but it really worked out well.
- 15:04SPEAKER_08: I mean, I had some energy, I wasn't cramping or any of that stuff that usually happens later on in the long run.
- 15:11SPEAKER_08: But I think it really worked out well for for me.
- 15:14SPEAKER_08: And I think they do help.
- 15:16SPEAKER_08: I mean, you do need water.
- 15:18SPEAKER_08: You're not gonna go out.
- 15:20SPEAKER_05: I wanted to jump in.
- 15:21SPEAKER_05: It's not a replacement for water.
- 15:23SPEAKER_05: It's not.
- 15:24SPEAKER_05: You you've got to get the water in you, but what it does it does supplement is your electrolytes.
- 15:30SPEAKER_08: So I think that that that was the the big difference.
- 15:33SPEAKER_08: I didn't I wasn't cramping.
- 15:34SPEAKER_08: I didn't need to go to my electrolyte drink as much as I had before.
- 15:38SPEAKER_08: And I did not stop at Reedus, Greg, because I said, I'm doing well.
- 15:43SPEAKER_08: I don't need braid freeze again.
- 15:44SPEAKER_08: I'll save that for next week.
- 15:46SPEAKER_08: I'll save that for next week when we uh get it out burned in hand.
- 15:49SPEAKER_08: Uh and and I was surprised.
- 15:52SPEAKER_08: I I was it was a pretty good pace, and I really never dropped off on that whole run.
- 15:57SPEAKER_08: Puts look at that, puts the hydro patch on, doesn't need a water ice.
- 16:01unknown: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_05: Italian Italian ice.
- 16:03SPEAKER_05: Okay, well right.
- 16:06SPEAKER_05: I ran with one already also this weekend.
- 16:09SPEAKER_05: And I I find it difficult to say during the run what difference it makes.
- 16:13SPEAKER_05: It's after that I notice it.
- 16:16SPEAKER_05: Is that I feel better afterwards.
- 16:18SPEAKER_05: This was a tough I had 14 miles this week.
- 16:20SPEAKER_05: This was tough.
- 16:21SPEAKER_05: And it was hotter this week than it was two weeks ago when I went.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: So I this you know, I don't want to oversell something here because it's not a miracle that you're going to slap onto your arm at one point and suddenly increase your tempo and all that.
- 16:40SPEAKER_05: But I do find it helpful.
- 16:41SPEAKER_05: I find it helpful to the point that I would not want to run a long run in the heat here without one.
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: So uh we've been talking, John specifically has been talking with the folks at Hydro Patch.
- 16:56SPEAKER_05: And what'd they tell you, John?
- 16:58SPEAKER_08: They've gave us a code for a discount.
- 17:01SPEAKER_08: So a tw a 25% what's what's the discount, Poe, Bob?
- 17:06SPEAKER_08: Do you know?
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: He's Allen 10, I believe.
- 17:07SPEAKER_08: Oh, Alan 10 now.
- 17:08SPEAKER_08: So if you use Ryzen Run 25, you'll get 25% off the the price.
- 17:15SPEAKER_08: I mean, these patches are not they're expensive.
- 17:20SPEAKER_08: I mean, but uh for what I think they do for that for your for your run, I think they're worth it for your your long, long runs.
- 17:30SPEAKER_08: I mean, you're not gonna use it for a 5k, but no, I wouldn't anyway.
- 17:34SPEAKER_05: I mean, some people I wouldn't.
- 17:36SPEAKER_05: Because of the cost.
- 17:37SPEAKER_05: They're uh I mean they it depends on what quantity you buy them in.
- 17:41SPEAKER_05: They can be they can be as much as ten dollars a piece.
- 17:44SPEAKER_05: Well, they'd be a little less.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: They'd be a with the discount now.
- 17:47SPEAKER_05: I think they'd they'd be pretty the the other yeah.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: The other thing about the discount, if you go to the site right now, they offer you a 25% discount straight up.
- 17:58SPEAKER_05: But we'd still appreciate it if you use the Rise and Run code.
- 18:02SPEAKER_05: We it's not an affiliate, we're not getting any money out of it.
- 18:05SPEAKER_05: I would just like them to know that we have an audience and that they are listening in there if you decide to do it.
- 18:11SPEAKER_05: Uh you're they're ordering it based on hearing about it on the podcast.
- 18:15SPEAKER_05: Rise and run 25.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 18:18SPEAKER_08: We're all partnering up with them to hopefully bit better things are gonna come out of this.
- 18:22SPEAKER_08: And uh they did say they would be on the podcast uh next year.
- 18:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, in a year or two.
- 18:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so if they said 2027, so yeah, you know, so maybe they have moot new things coming out, and hopefully we get some updates on it.
- 18:36SPEAKER_05: I agree.
- 18:37SPEAKER_05: So that's that's the news on the hydro patch front.
- 18:41SPEAKER_05: Again, they're expensive.
- 18:42SPEAKER_05: Something I would consider, and I've tried to talk my friends here into doing it, but my buddy John jumped the gun on me.
- 18:49SPEAKER_05: You can uh sorry about that.
- 18:51SPEAKER_05: You know, with the with a 25% discount, if you partner up with somebody, one or two people, then the prices can come down.
- 18:58SPEAKER_05: The the prices come down.
- 19:00SPEAKER_05: Three is the minimum order, then ten, then thirty, and then you get into kind of larger bulk orders.
- 19:07SPEAKER_05: But the prices, you can get the price down to with our discount.
- 19:12SPEAKER_05: I I think we decided that if you ordered a box of thirty, you get the price down to six dollars and fifty cents each instead of ten bucks.
- 19:20SPEAKER_05: So all right, that's enough of that.
- 19:23SPEAKER_05: If you want to know if you want to know about them, I'll be wearing one at Burden Hand.
- 19:27SPEAKER_05: So would I look us up?
- 19:29SPEAKER_05: Uh I st I was talking about the run this weekend here in still very warm Florida, and I come up against the thing that I come up against every year, 14 miles, and I struggled to finish 14 miles.
- 19:47SPEAKER_05: Uh I am at a point in my running career where if I feel a little twinge, like, oh, that doesn't feel right, I'm shutting down.
- 19:56SPEAKER_05: So around mile 13, I felt a little twinge in my hamstring.
- 20:00SPEAKER_05: I walked it in.
- 20:02SPEAKER_05: I'm fine 100%, but I'm not gonna risk.
- 20:05SPEAKER_05: I think I've got 15 races or 15 race weekends coming up this season.
- 20:10SPEAKER_05: I don't want to risk them.
- 20:11SPEAKER_05: I don't want to risk missing being with my friends and crossing start lines and hopefully finish lines.
- 20:17SPEAKER_05: But I know coming in, I think to myself, 14 miles.
- 20:23SPEAKER_05: I got a marathon in January.
- 20:26SPEAKER_05: Can I do 12 more miles?
- 20:27SPEAKER_05: And the answer today is no, I can't.
- 20:31SPEAKER_05: But that's when we get into trusting the process.
- 20:36SPEAKER_05: Trust your training process, hit your training goals, stay consistent.
- 20:41SPEAKER_05: The long runs are going to be a challenge for you, but what you're going to find, I believe, at least this is what I've found, is that let's say the next, well, my next one will be 13 at bird in hand, but the one after that's probably going to be 16.
- 20:57SPEAKER_05: It's going to be hard, but I will more than likely get to 14 and feel a lot better than I did on this last 14.
- 21:05SPEAKER_05: And it just continues to build in that direction.
- 21:08SPEAKER_05: So don't look too far ahead.
- 21:12SPEAKER_05: Run the miles that are in front of you.
- 21:14SPEAKER_05: Don't worry about the ones that you have to come and trust the process.
- 21:20SPEAKER_05: Anyone else?
- 21:22SPEAKER_06: So, Bob, I was thinking about you on my long run uh this weekend because uh, you know, obviously I wasn't on the episode last week, so I didn't get a chance to talk about uh my wonderfully bad training I had uh down.
- 21:37SPEAKER_06: I had a work trip uh just north of Miami.
- 21:41SPEAKER_06: And you know, Bob, I was texting a lot with you that weekend and you're like you know, saying, you know, not that I don't believe you, you know, when you talk about the conditions down in South Florida and stuff like that.
- 21:53SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 21:53SPEAKER_06: But I mean, I I went out and I was like, you know what, I I'm I don't want to do this stuff on the treadmill.
- 21:59SPEAKER_06: I was supposed to do stuff.
- 22:00SPEAKER_06: Speed work.
- 22:01SPEAKER_06: And um thankfully there was a trail around the resort that I was staying at.
- 22:06SPEAKER_06: And uh unfortunately I couldn't get out early because of early call times for work.
- 22:12SPEAKER_06: So I had to do it once we had wrapped for the day.
- 22:16SPEAKER_06: And by that point, it was 90 degrees.
- 22:20SPEAKER_06: The dew point was 80.
- 22:22SPEAKER_06: And I was like, all right, let's see what I can do.
- 22:26SPEAKER_06: And I like I knew I wasn't gonna be able to do the full workout, but I was at least somewhat confident that I could do well over half of it.
- 22:37SPEAKER_06: And a third of the way through, I had to call it because it just was a condition that my body is just not used to it right by any means whatsoever.
- 22:46SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 22:46SPEAKER_06: But then I was thinking about you on this past weekend's run because you know I remember you were saying, like, you know, Greg, you know, sometimes you know, when you get those extreme changes and things start to cool down, it's gonna feel like you're dealing with supplemental oxygen.
- 23:01SPEAKER_06: And lo and behold, I got to experience that this weekend because I got really lucky.
- 23:07SPEAKER_06: Uh, I had 23 miles on the schedule this past weekend because I I have to do my I'm gonna have a longer taper leading into New York.
- 23:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 23:18SPEAKER_06: So uh, but we had dew points below 60 at the start of my run.
- 23:25SPEAKER_06: It was actually below 60 degrees um at the start of my run, which I was very, very thankful for.
- 23:32SPEAKER_06: And but even to this day, running now for 10 plus years, the night before a long run uh of of this length, I still get really nervous.
- 23:44SPEAKER_06: Sure.
- 23:45SPEAKER_06: And I don't sleep well, and I don't know why, because I know even if things do go poorly, like I I I know how to handle myself, I know how to take care of myself, but yet I still get all these nerves built up or whatever.
- 23:57SPEAKER_06: I get it.
- 23:57SPEAKER_06: Um, but I think part of the reason why I was a little concerned is, you know, and I've talked about this on the podcast uh maybe a couple of years ago, is I think I, as a runner, I have learned my kryptonite, and that is anytime I go more than 20 miles by myself, um, I just I don't necessarily hit a wall, but I get in my head, and then that and then the like the monkey brain kicks in, and then I start telling myself things that just are silly and I shouldn't be telling myself.
- 24:26SPEAKER_06: So I had made it a joke to a couple of friends of like, oh, you know, that that are local.
- 24:31SPEAKER_06: And I was like, okay, well, who wants to run 23 miles with me?
- 24:35SPEAKER_06: And all of a sudden, our buddy Allie without an E.
- 24:38SPEAKER_06: Now, God bless her, she lives 90 minutes away from me.
- 24:43SPEAKER_06: Oh she's like, Oh, I have 10 this weekend.
- 24:46SPEAKER_06: I'll do I'll do 10 with you.
- 24:48SPEAKER_06: That's cool.
- 24:48SPEAKER_06: And I was like, wait, you're willing to drive three hours round trip to do this, and she was like, Absolutely.
- 24:54SPEAKER_06: So I was like, okay, I'll run a half marathon and then we'll pick a time to meet, and and then we'll we'll do those last 10 together.
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: And I mean, I know conditions were in my favor.
- 25:07SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, I know my my weight loss journey has helped with you know my endurance and everything like that.
- 25:14SPEAKER_06: Folks, I had the run of my life.
- 25:17SPEAKER_06: Wonderful.
- 25:18SPEAKER_06: The training run of my life.
- 25:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:19SPEAKER_06: I mean, I I finished the the half marathon part and I still had a lot of energy in the tank.
- 25:26SPEAKER_06: I was really smart about um you know fueling uh the night prior.
- 25:32SPEAKER_06: Uh I definitely I feel really good about using scratch high carb now in terms of leading up to my runs.
- 25:38SPEAKER_06: It's not messing with my stomach like Tailwind did years ago when I tried that.
- 25:43SPEAKER_06: Uh, and then you know, even when I was getting into the you know 1820-ish mile range, I think I only ever had to ask Allie for like maybe two to three times total um for an extended walk break, which was really nice.
- 25:59SPEAKER_06: Now, as the day went on, it did get a little bit warmer and I did slow down and we did make a pit stop at Wawa, so I I always do, you know, appreciate a stop like that.
- 26:11SPEAKER_06: Um, but it's interesting how, you know, because John, you know, you always say I'm the math guy when you and I run together, you know, especially during the marathon, and usually my math is pretty good.
- 26:22SPEAKER_06: I had a huge foe though when it came to math um this weekend, because I looked down on my watch and we were probably maybe a half a mile away from finishing, and my watch had just crossed over five hours.
- 26:35SPEAKER_06: And I was like, okay, not the time that I that I expected, but uh, but I'm still really, really happy with this run.
- 26:42SPEAKER_06: And you know, and that's gonna lead to a massive uh PR, hopefully, you know, whether that be New York or um at the marathon weekend this year.
- 26:53SPEAKER_06: And then all of a sudden I stopped my watch and I, you know, I synced at the Strava and I got home and I was relaxing.
- 26:58SPEAKER_06: I was just looking at my stats and I'm like, wait a second, the five hours included the time that I stopped my watch to refuel when I picked up Ally at the place where we met.
- 27:12SPEAKER_06: And I also paused the watch when we went into Wawa to fill up our water bottles and our bladders and stuff like that.
- 27:19SPEAKER_06: And in theory, my run, my actual running time was like 25 minutes faster than what I originally thought my watch was saying.
- 27:31SPEAKER_06: And I'm like, so of course that's got my head spitting now of like, oh man, could I do you know sub five at one of these races and stuff like that?
- 27:39SPEAKER_06: And it just it gave me a lot of confidence as a runner because usually when I finish these really long runs of 20 plus, I usually am not in that positive head space.
- 27:48SPEAKER_06: So I'm just I'm really excited where my training's at.
- 27:51SPEAKER_06: So you know, I I don't know what the future's gonna hold for me for these two marathons coming up.
- 27:55SPEAKER_06: Obviously, when it comes to New York, it's not my race, it's Rachel's race, and I will do anything and everything, no matter how fast or how slow to get her across the finish line.
- 28:06SPEAKER_06: But I mean, I I'm starting to think Everest now for Marathon Weekend.
- 28:10SPEAKER_06: Oh, nice, great.
- 28:12SPEAKER_06: So, um, yeah, so very happy, very excited.
- 28:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and um, you know, and just all want to thank uh you know, all the the positive holler hypes that I got over the weekend as well, too.
- 28:21SPEAKER_06: And uh and shout out to Troy.
- 28:24SPEAKER_06: I I think I scared him a little bit because I think I was his second hype of the morning, and I was like, Yeah, hey, it's me.
- 28:30SPEAKER_06: You typically don't hear my voice this early because I don't like waking up early, but uh it was cool to be virtual training buddies with him this weekend too.
- 28:37SPEAKER_06: So um just you know, so proud of all my co-host progress and the progress of all the running community that we have here within Rise and Run.
- 28:45SPEAKER_06: And again, this summer training, as you say, Bob, is really gonna lead, I think, to some fall PRs for a lot of people.
- 28:51SPEAKER_05: Stick with it, stay consistent.
- 28:53SPEAKER_05: We've heard from the guys, ladies, anything, any updates?
- 28:56SPEAKER_05: Alicia, did you eat a bug?
- 28:58SPEAKER_09: Not this training session, but I have before accidentally eaten a bug.
- 29:03SPEAKER_09: Um, no, like you, Bob, I had to really listen to my body this last week on my long run.
- 29:09SPEAKER_09: Um I had worn some different shoes, and when I went out for my long run, the side of my foot was hurting.
- 29:17SPEAKER_09: And so I slowed down and walked.
- 29:19SPEAKER_09: Um, and then I was like, okay, yeah, mile two or three, I'll turn around if it's still feeling poorly and just call it because I don't want an injury.
- 29:29SPEAKER_09: And that's what I ended up doing.
- 29:30SPEAKER_09: Turned around at mile three.
- 29:32SPEAKER_09: That foot stopped hurting, but the other foot star started hurting on the other side.
- 29:36SPEAKER_09: And so um I ended up getting seven miles instead of ten.
- 29:40SPEAKER_09: Um, but I wanted to be smart about it and um not risk that injury.
- 29:43SPEAKER_09: So um I have another long run tomorrow, and I'm hoping that one will go better.
- 29:49SPEAKER_05: Well, I am I'm hoping too, and I'm I'm confident that it will for you.
- 29:52SPEAKER_05: Thanks.
- 29:53SPEAKER_05: That's good.
- 29:54SPEAKER_08: So can I say something about the Garmin watch that I'm very upset about?
- 29:58SPEAKER_05: I don't think so, John.
- 29:59SPEAKER_08: Okay, then we'll guys, what do you think?
- 30:01SPEAKER_08: Uh okay, all right, go ahead.
- 30:05SPEAKER_08: Okay, so I was on like a really good uh getting my step goal streak on Garmin.
- 30:14SPEAKER_08: I lost it Sunday.
- 30:17SPEAKER_08: The watch or the streak?
- 30:18SPEAKER_08: The streak, because I mowed my lawn.
- 30:21SPEAKER_08: Uh work with me, Jimmy.
- 30:22SPEAKER_09: Because your arm wasn't moving.
- 30:24SPEAKER_08: Since my arm was on top of the lawnmower pushing it, I got like no steps from when I was mowing the lawn the entire time.
- 30:33SPEAKER_06: Here I thought you ran over the I did.
- 30:36SPEAKER_06: You ran over the watch with your lawnmower.
- 30:38SPEAKER_08: I I I felt like doing that afterwards.
- 30:40SPEAKER_08: I go, I go, it's just not right.
- 30:41SPEAKER_08: I go, I just mowed my entire lawn for a half an hour, and what do I get?
- 30:46SPEAKER_08: Like 200 steps?
- 30:48SPEAKER_06: John, I I feel your pain.
- 30:49SPEAKER_06: I remember last summer we were doing this a step challenge at work, and I had learned this because I I used to cut my lawn with a push mower, uh, and then I finally got smart and bought a tractor.
- 31:03SPEAKER_06: But um, because I knew that when we were doing the step challenge, when I was in the grocery store, I would push the cart with one hand so that I knew my other hand would be moving and and still getting the steps.
- 31:18SPEAKER_06: But now the part that I do appreciate though is um so we do a family step challenge every month because um Riley's new watch that we got her, you know, it helped promote you know movement and physical activity.
- 31:31SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, it all counts our steps.
- 31:34SPEAKER_06: But for me, because I don't have a Google watch, you know, she does and and my wife does, um, as long as I have my phone in my pocket, then I'm getting credit for all the steps.
- 31:46SPEAKER_06: So that's acting as a pedometer, which is nice.
- 31:49SPEAKER_06: But although I do lose the steps though, if I had to do like a treadmill run and I just like leave it on the treadmill, then I'm not getting those.
- 31:55SPEAKER_06: But no, I I I do feel your pain, John.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: And I can third that because whenever I'm on the stairmaster, my it doesn't catch the steps either.
- 32:05SPEAKER_05: All right, you kids.
- 32:06SPEAKER_05: Well, there you go.
- 32:08SPEAKER_05: Hope your friends hope your training is going well.
- 32:11SPEAKER_05: Again, consistency is the key.
- 32:13SPEAKER_05: Stick with it.
- 32:14SPEAKER_05: You can do it.
- 32:16SPEAKER_05: Caution runners, change of topic ahead.
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: All right, my friends, it's time to ask a question I haven't asked for a couple of weeks.
- 32:28SPEAKER_05: What would Alicia do?
- 32:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Bob.
- 32:35SPEAKER_09: So right now in Minnesota, it is Minnesota State Fair time, which is my favorite thing of the entire year.
- 32:42SPEAKER_09: Oh sure.
- 32:43SPEAKER_06: My favorite social media content that Alicia puts out every year and live for this stuff.
- 32:48SPEAKER_09: Um, and so yeah, I've been posting what I've been eating.
- 32:52SPEAKER_09: Um, we always go two or three times a year.
- 32:54SPEAKER_09: I've already been twice um this year, and we're gonna go one more time before it ends.
- 32:59SPEAKER_09: Um, but I wanted to know from my friends here, what is your favorite fried food?
- 33:04SPEAKER_09: Or if you could make one thing into a fried food, what would it be?
- 33:09SPEAKER_08: I was thinking about this.
- 33:10SPEAKER_08: This is a tough question because there's a lot of good things.
- 33:13SPEAKER_08: Everything's kind of good fried, technically.
- 33:15SPEAKER_08: Some days a nice fried chicken cutlet sandwich, some days fried veal cutlets, you know.
- 33:22SPEAKER_08: We can go back to cutlets.
- 33:23SPEAKER_08: Or but I if I'm thinking anything, I'm probably gonna go fried calamad.
- 33:27SPEAKER_09: Fried what?
- 33:27SPEAKER_08: Which is for the rest of the world, it's calamari.
- 33:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:33SPEAKER_08: Okay, galamad.
- 33:35SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 33:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:39SPEAKER_09: I have no idea what you said, but I understand that.
- 33:43SPEAKER_05: Favorite fried food.
- 33:45SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna I'm gonna pass over Twinkies.
- 33:48SPEAKER_05: Fried Twinkies.
- 33:50SPEAKER_05: I don't know if I've ever had one.
- 33:52SPEAKER_05: That's that's that's fair festival type.
- 33:54SPEAKER_09: That is, yeah.
- 33:55SPEAKER_09: They have those.
- 33:56SPEAKER_05: They have fried Twinkies.
- 33:58SPEAKER_05: They have fried Kool-Aid too.
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: I haven't seen that.
- 34:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I haven't seen that.
- 34:04SPEAKER_05: How do you fry Kool-Aid?
- 34:05SPEAKER_06: They they they uh they they deep fry the brick wall and then the Kool-Aid runs through that.
- 34:10SPEAKER_08: They they like freeze the Kool-Aid and they then they put it in the fryer.
- 34:15SPEAKER_08: It's the weirdest.
- 34:17SPEAKER_08: I like at the at the boardwalk, they had a whole big fried section, like to kind of imitate the state fairs.
- 34:24SPEAKER_05: Corn dogs are great.
- 34:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's here in Minnesota, it's corn dog or pronto pup.
- 34:31SPEAKER_09: Pronto pups are a pancake batter, and unless you're from Minnesota, you really don't know what a pronto pup is, but that's like the thing that if you come to the Minnesota State Fair, you have to get both and try and see which one you like best.
- 34:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, corndogs are good.
- 34:46SPEAKER_05: Um I've seen fried Snickers bars.
- 34:49SPEAKER_05: Never tried them.
- 34:50SPEAKER_09: We have those, yeah.
- 34:52SPEAKER_05: How about fried ice cream?
- 34:53SPEAKER_05: Anybody ever had fried ice cream before?
- 34:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, that's kind of tasty, yeah.
- 34:57SPEAKER_08: Mexican restaurants.
- 34:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's hot.
- 34:59SPEAKER_05: That's right.
- 34:59SPEAKER_05: That's right.
- 35:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:00SPEAKER_09: Jack, I have one for you that they had last year as a new food.
- 35:04SPEAKER_09: It was a burger with two deep fried uncrustable sandwiches on both sides with the bun.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there you go.
- 35:14SPEAKER_09: This all sounds diabolical.
- 35:16SPEAKER_06: Okay, quick question for you.
- 35:19SPEAKER_06: Would you rather eat that or another bug?
- 35:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'd rather eat that.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: At least it has flavor, you know.
- 35:26SPEAKER_05: What if they fried the bug?
- 35:28SPEAKER_05: Deep fried bug.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: Am I winning?
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: They're out there.
- 35:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's all they're doing.
- 35:33SPEAKER_05: They're out there, yeah.
- 35:34SPEAKER_05: Fried ants.
- 35:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_05: They're out there.
- 35:36SPEAKER_09: Any guesses what my favorite is?
- 35:39SPEAKER_08: Fried butter.
- 35:40SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 35:41SPEAKER_08: Fried butter, yeah.
- 35:42SPEAKER_09: No, but uh a big thing about our state fair is they do butter pickings of the uh um the faces of our um the pageant winners.
- 35:53SPEAKER_05: Oh golly.
- 35:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 35:55SPEAKER_05: What an honor to have your face in butter.
- 35:57SPEAKER_09: No, it isn't so cool.
- 36:01SPEAKER_09: You guys should come to the Minnesota State First.
- 36:03SPEAKER_05: I would think that would be even bigger in Wisconsin, but uh Yeah.
- 36:07SPEAKER_08: So I got it, I got a great question about that fair.
- 36:09SPEAKER_08: So I'm I saw your video, you're walking around, and I don't know, all that your little foodies you were doing.
- 36:17SPEAKER_08: Is like all these booths like always up there?
- 36:19SPEAKER_08: Because this is like a really huge fair.
- 36:21SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 36:22SPEAKER_09: So it's been a thing for a number of years, like over a hundred years.
- 36:26SPEAKER_09: Um, and it's changed over the years, and it it's originally moved around different locations, but now it's in a centralized location.
- 36:34SPEAKER_09: Um in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, it's near St.
- 36:37SPEAKER_09: Paul.
- 36:37SPEAKER_09: Um, some of the buildings are permanent locations, and then there's some that will come um and just be like little booths.
- 36:44SPEAKER_09: Um, there's what's called Machinery Hill, where like they'll come and they'll still do um showings of tractors and different things because there's a lot of farming in Minnesota.
- 36:54SPEAKER_09: Um that's what Minnesota State first started out as.
- 36:57SPEAKER_09: But yeah, a lot of a lot of cool things.
- 36:59SPEAKER_09: So like our food building is a permanent location.
- 37:01SPEAKER_09: There's an agriculture building, arts building, all those are permanent locations, and there's people that man the state fairgrounds, and there's other things that happen throughout the year.
- 37:10SPEAKER_09: Um, but yeah, it's it's fun.
- 37:13SPEAKER_09: My favorite is fried pickles.
- 37:14SPEAKER_07: I was like pickles.
- 37:15SPEAKER_05: Oh, good call.
- 37:16SPEAKER_05: Good call, yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:20SPEAKER_05: I I just had fried pickles just two or three days ago done differently than I've ever had them before.
- 37:25SPEAKER_05: You know, normally you get spears or you get chips.
- 37:28SPEAKER_05: These were cut as just as though they were French fried potatoes.
- 37:32SPEAKER_05: They're just the same size as a potato, and that was quite good.
- 37:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:38SPEAKER_05: I'm getting on a tangent here.
- 37:39SPEAKER_05: We just ended up with ham we just finished hamburger week in Madeira Beach, Florida.
- 37:43SPEAKER_05: That was a lot of fun.
- 37:44SPEAKER_08: You guys ever have fried hot dogs?
- 37:46SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah.
- 37:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they're good.
- 37:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:50SPEAKER_05: Deep fried hot dog, yeah.
- 37:51SPEAKER_05: They're good.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: I love I haven't had it in ages.
- 37:54SPEAKER_03: I love a good fried cheesecake.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, they have that, yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, put it on a stick, put it in a coating, and yeah.
- 38:02SPEAKER_03: Dip it.
- 38:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I would say favorite fried food.
- 38:07SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna give a shout out to Tony here.
- 38:09SPEAKER_06: Uh, I had the the first time I ever went to uh Wisconsin and I had cheese curds.
- 38:16SPEAKER_06: Okay, those those didn't suck.
- 38:18SPEAKER_06: Uh that's for sure.
- 38:20SPEAKER_06: Um, although the fried food that I want to try, going back to what you said, Bob, about corn dogs, and then I'm gonna mix that in with something that Alicia has talked about, um, is I want to go to the the corndog stand at the boardwalk and get that hot dog that they put into the uh the pickle and then they put the corndog batter on top of that.
- 38:45SPEAKER_06: That now apparently they do serve that with peanut butter.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: That's a little too expensive.
- 38:49SPEAKER_06: That I don't understand, but I I I would like to sink my teeth into that.
- 38:53SPEAKER_06: Pickle dogs, right?
- 38:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we have those other stickers.
- 38:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:59SPEAKER_05: I wonder if there's a way to deep fry a cheesesteak.
- 39:03SPEAKER_06: Ooh, I mean the closest thing I've ever seen is what what we call the South Philly taco, and that is you go and to one of the Taurus cheesesteak places, and then you go to this pizza place called Lorenzo's, um, and where they're known for making this massive, like the biggest pizza pie you've ever seen before.
- 39:25SPEAKER_06: And the slices are so big that you can actually wrap the cheesesteak in the piece of pizza and then eat that.
- 39:32SPEAKER_06: So, but I haven't seen any of that deep fried though, unfortunately.
- 39:36SPEAKER_05: That's a challenge uh along the lines of the kitchen sink.
- 39:39SPEAKER_06: Does anybody feel their arteries clogging up as we're having this conversation about it?
- 39:43SPEAKER_08: Don't they have to fried cheesecake kind of at Disney with that uh with that booth?
- 39:48SPEAKER_08: Uh what the hell's that booth over there?
- 39:50SPEAKER_08: Uh right before Adventureland.
- 39:54SPEAKER_08: The little egg rolls?
- 39:55SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 39:56SPEAKER_06: Oh, the the cheeseburger egg rolls.
- 39:57SPEAKER_08: Oh, the cheeseburger egg rolls, yeah.
- 40:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, right, right.
- 40:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they're pretty good.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: But Bob, there you go.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: There's a will, there's a way.
- 40:07SPEAKER_05: I'm thinking I'm thinking there's millions to be made on a fried cheesesteak.
- 40:12SPEAKER_06: Well, and did anybody else notice that over the course of this whole conversation, anytime we suggested something that was deep fried, Alicia followed that up with, oh yeah, we have that.
- 40:21SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 40:22SPEAKER_09: It's a very big state fair.
- 40:24SPEAKER_09: We I think we're the second or third largest, but we have been nominated as the best in the country.
- 40:30SPEAKER_09: So yeah, anyway.
- 40:32SPEAKER_05: Certainly the best in the state.
- 40:34SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.
- 40:37SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: Before we depart, exciting announcement.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: What is it?
- 40:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah, so I do have an exciting, unrelated announcement to the Minnesota Safer.
- 40:46SPEAKER_09: Um, our friend Donna.
- 40:49SPEAKER_09: No, but almost as cool as that.
- 40:52SPEAKER_09: Our friend Donna, who is in episode 246, who is the editor, one of the editors for Runner's World, she asked me to be a part of an article for Runner's World.
- 41:06SPEAKER_09: So I have been featured um in an article, and um, I'll give it to you guys.
- 41:11SPEAKER_09: Um, you need to be a membership or you need to have a membership to read the article.
- 41:16SPEAKER_09: So if you don't, you won't be able to read the whole thing.
- 41:18SPEAKER_09: Um, but just kind of a cool opportunity that I have to be a part of.
- 41:22SPEAKER_09: That's really awesome.
- 41:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_05: Good for you.
- 41:25SPEAKER_05: That's it that is exciting.
- 41:27unknown: Yeah.
- 41:27SPEAKER_07: Because that's what Alicia would do.
- 41:31SPEAKER_07: Caution runners, the topic is about to change right now.
- 41:37SPEAKER_06: Now that most schools are back in session, we figured this would be the perfect time to chat with our guest.
- 41:45SPEAKER_06: This week we are trading our running shoes and training logs for our first lesson in Comedy 101.
- 41:53SPEAKER_06: Our guest this week is a former Florida educator who pivoted his career to become a stand-up comedian and keynote speaker, is a member of the uh board teachers comedy tour, host of Crying in My Car podcast.
- 42:11SPEAKER_06: He's a viral theme park comedy sensation.
- 42:14SPEAKER_06: And oh, yeah, by the way, he runs Disney as well.
- 42:18SPEAKER_06: We would love to welcome Devin Siebold to the Rise to Run podcast.
- 42:23SPEAKER_06: Devin, welcome.
- 42:24SPEAKER_04: Thanks for having me.
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: Appreciate it.
- 42:26SPEAKER_04: Great intro, man.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 42:28SPEAKER_04: I was like, did I give him any of that?
- 42:30SPEAKER_04: No, it's impressive.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: Good, good research.
- 42:33SPEAKER_06: Oh, I appreciate it.
- 42:35SPEAKER_06: But you know, before we we dive into the hilarious theme park content that you share on social media, I just want to discuss your other passion in life, and that's being in education.
- 42:47SPEAKER_06: What led you in that career path to become a teacher?
- 42:51SPEAKER_06: And why are you so uh passionate about it to this day?
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: Well, originally I was gonna be a um psychologist.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: I I went for psychology my first year, but I had already had two years of um college in high school.
- 43:04SPEAKER_04: You know, you get the the dual enrollment.
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: And so I was in an advanced school and I was like, oh, I'm gonna be out with a psych degree in in two years, then I'll get my master's, I'll be, you know, practicing in in four years.
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: And then I hit a roadblock.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: And my roadblock was uh I wasn't mentally prepared to deal with other people's problems.
- 43:27SPEAKER_04: And and so I we were literally, I took my problem was I took um uh psychology of children my first year, and it was rough.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, because you're learning about a lot of stuff that's ex like heartbreaking and like deep.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: And some of it was things that I had gone through as a child.
- 43:45SPEAKER_04: And you know, we're just reading this stuff, and I'm already like tearing up or like, you know, taking on the emotions of the the people that we're talking about.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: And uh my my professor was like, Hey, uh, so this isn't for you.
- 43:59unknown: He's like
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: He's like, you can't cry across from the patient.
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: He was like, it's it gets a little much if you're like constantly taking on everything.
- 44:08SPEAKER_04: Eventually it'll break you.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: He said.
- 44:10SPEAKER_04: And so I was like, you know, he goes, I'm just letting you know early on that I think you might have um a little too many, too much emotion to be a part of as a psychologist.
- 44:20SPEAKER_04: You got to cut it off.
- 44:21SPEAKER_04: And I don't know if you can do that.
- 44:22SPEAKER_04: So I was like, okay, well, what else do you suggest?
- 44:24SPEAKER_04: He's like, well, it seems that you you have a passion for helping others.
- 44:28SPEAKER_04: He's like, you know, you should try teaching.
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: And so I went, and um, my story is that I was a guy, and I I, you know, I'm a college kid, 18, you know, just about turned 19.
- 44:38SPEAKER_04: And I was like, maybe I'll be a teacher.
- 44:40SPEAKER_04: And I walked into my very first uh room and it for all the teacher people, and they were all women.
- 44:46SPEAKER_04: And I was like, this is my career.
- 44:47SPEAKER_05: This is the place, man.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: You know, as a college guy, I was like, man, this is awesome.
- 44:52SPEAKER_04: And turns out I really enjoyed it.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: I was I started to learn about it, and I was like, wow, this is actually a pretty cool career.
- 44:58SPEAKER_04: And um, you know, unfortunately, there's not a lot of the reality of teaching in in college, it's a lot of uh hope and optimism, and you know, um, the real world hits pretty hard when you get into it.
- 45:11SPEAKER_04: But uh I I enjoyed it.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: It was uh definitely a challenge, but something that I was definitely passionate about.
- 45:16SPEAKER_04: I taught for 13 years.
- 45:18SPEAKER_05: I mean, you you're leading into it almost, uh Devin.
- 45:22SPEAKER_05: So what made you flip the switch and get out?
- 45:25SPEAKER_04: Um, so that was actually just doing comedy.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: I was doing comedy on the side.
- 45:29SPEAKER_04: So I started teaching, and right away I uh I was in one of my classes, there was always was like a delay.
- 45:37SPEAKER_04: It was weird.
- 45:38SPEAKER_04: We were having like um bomb threats and all sorts of bad things happen.
- 45:41SPEAKER_04: And when we had them, they'd be like, Okay, uh, Mr.
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: Siebel, take these six classes into the auditorium.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: And they're I mean, chaos and fights and things like that.
- 45:52SPEAKER_04: And so I just grabbed the mic and I just started telling them funny stories of things that had happened to me in my life, or college stories, or like, you know, just trying to get them to just focus on me for a minute.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: And uh one of the students was like, Hey, you're pretty funny.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: You should consider, you know, being a comedian.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: And I was like, huh.
- 46:09SPEAKER_04: And so I started writing a lot.
- 46:11SPEAKER_04: I had I wrote a bunch already.
- 46:13SPEAKER_04: I was always a writer, and um, and uh, I just decided to maybe give it a shot, did a class on it, loved it, and then uh so start doing comedy and then like started really doing it, like opening for big names.
- 46:27SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, people always often are they're like, Oh, you're a real comic.
- 46:30SPEAKER_04: I'm like, Yeah, I I opened for Peter Satara, um, uh Theo Vaughn, Bert Kreisher, Tom Segura.
- 46:37SPEAKER_04: I I went on the road with uh Ralphie May for a bit, you know, uh Adam Ferrara.
- 46:41SPEAKER_04: I've I've opened for all these guys that are huge.
- 46:44SPEAKER_04: And so I was touring, and uh it just got too much to where I was like having to ask for too much time off.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: And then I got offered an Australia run, which was three weeks in Australia.
- 46:54SPEAKER_04: My principal's like, I really need you to make a decision.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: And I was like, ugh.
- 46:58SPEAKER_04: So I had to step away just to you know see if it worked.
- 47:01SPEAKER_04: And then the board teachers tour came up and other things.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: So it was really just I got too busy with comedy to to maintain my my level of teaching that would have been uh not getting me fired.
- 47:12SPEAKER_05: So no, that's cool.
- 47:14SPEAKER_05: That's a good upbeat answer.
- 47:15SPEAKER_05: I mean, I like that.
- 47:16SPEAKER_05: I'm I've been married to a woman who taught for 30 years.
- 47:20SPEAKER_05: She would give you a different answer.
- 47:22SPEAKER_05: Get the heck out of there.
- 47:23SPEAKER_05: But anyway.
- 47:24SPEAKER_06: Now I I gotta ask though, I mean, you said you worked with with Bert Kreischer and Tom Segore.
- 47:29SPEAKER_06: Why, why weren't you offered a spot as uh the third bear in the cave?
- 47:33SPEAKER_04: You know, I don't know.
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: I asked that this it's so funny because I worked with all these guys before they were like big, and you know, uh especially like Theo.
- 47:42SPEAKER_04: Man, I was opening for Theo and we had some shows where they were considering canceling them because there was 20 people.
- 47:48SPEAKER_04: And now the guy's you know doing arenas and stuff like that.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: And that's kind of you know, he's he's gotten into you know podcasting and politics and and all that stuff, and I'm just here for the jokes, you know, and uh I don't I don't really want to enter that realm that he's kind of in.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: So some of those guys I don't really follow him around as much because it kind of is like, okay, once you you side or open with or go for these guys now, it's like you're kind of going, Hey, by the way, here's what I endorse, here's my political beliefs, here's this.
- 48:17SPEAKER_04: And I'm just always like, I don't know, I just want to do the comedy.
- 48:20SPEAKER_04: I don't really want to have to enter that realm.
- 48:22SPEAKER_04: And I don't think you really have a choice uh when you with you know some of them.
- 48:26SPEAKER_04: So interesting.
- 48:28SPEAKER_09: All right, Devin.
- 48:29SPEAKER_09: So would you say that dealing with a classroom full of children is a good preparation for the hecklers in the comedy club?
- 48:36SPEAKER_04: You know, I wouldn't say that the kids were like good preparation for the hecklers because the kids were mostly in my pocket, like they were the ones that I really enjoyed, and and we were on the same page.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: It was those visits from the principal or administration or like the district comes in and suddenly they're throwing questions at me, they're trying to interrupt my flow of testing, they're coming in and the the class is paying attention to them.
- 49:01SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, no, focus on me.
- 49:03SPEAKER_04: So it was a lot of um the adults were more the hecklers.
- 49:07SPEAKER_04: The kids were my audience and they wanted to listen to what I had to say.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: But when the adults came in the room, I was like, Can you just leave me alone?
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm just trying to try to do my job.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: I wish I had a bouncer for my principal.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: I'd be like, yeah.
- 49:21SPEAKER_06: Well, I guess on the flip side of hecklers, do you have any stories where you know the the messages that you talk about, whether it's in your keynotes or in your comedy sets, have provided a positive impact on an educator?
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: I've got endless student success stories.
- 49:38SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's so many of my students that have gone on to do amazing things.
- 49:41SPEAKER_04: Um uh, you know, I one of the students, I guess I'd probably give there's examples of students that have gone on to become stand-up comedians.
- 49:51SPEAKER_04: I had one open for me.
- 49:52SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 49:52SPEAKER_04: Uh he was in the world.
- 49:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's wild.
- 49:54SPEAKER_05: That's wild, man.
- 49:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he was inspired, decided to open for me, and I had him open for me.
- 49:59SPEAKER_04: That was great.
- 49:59SPEAKER_04: And uh there's uh one um girl is now just now started stand-up comedy.
- 50:05SPEAKER_04: So they've kind of followed in those footsteps, but I was always kind of pushing um follow your dreams, you know, do what they saw what I was doing, and I was like, you know, this I'm trying to still pursue something else.
- 50:15SPEAKER_04: I really enjoy this, but I was honest with them.
- 50:17SPEAKER_04: I was like, I was like, I like teaching, but also I really have a passion here.
- 50:21SPEAKER_04: So I'm kind of pursuing that as well.
- 50:23SPEAKER_04: And I want to see I you you don't want to get stagnant in careers, I've always told them.
- 50:27SPEAKER_04: You know, don't just go, well, this is what I am.
- 50:30SPEAKER_04: If you're not happy, you know, start going, okay, well, what else can I be?
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: You know, and um and and reach your full potential.
- 50:37SPEAKER_04: So I there's a lot of students like that.
- 50:38SPEAKER_04: But one story I'd like to tell you that I think was really uh cool is um I had a student uh named Navid, and um he was from Iran, and he came in as a uh a refugee.
- 50:51SPEAKER_04: He was having a lot of problems in in his uh home country and his family sought refuge in America.
- 50:57SPEAKER_04: And so he came into my class and knew not a word of English, not a single word.
- 51:02SPEAKER_04: And they sat him down and gave him a Farsi to English textbook or sorry, um, dictionary, and that was it.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: And I was like, oh my gosh, how do I reach this kid?
- 51:11SPEAKER_04: And I just was funny, like in my class, the kids would laugh, and like there was humor, and like, and I just would try to like laugh with him, and I never made it any pressure.
- 51:22SPEAKER_04: I'd be like, Do you know the answer?
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: Can we?
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: And I'm trying to say stuff and I'm messing it up, and he's laughing at me.
- 51:27SPEAKER_04: It was just I no pressure, I just kind of laughed with this kid, and uh then I see him like years later, and he's the pharmacist down the road, actually, in um in Orlando now.
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Oh, you're a pharmacist.
- 51:41SPEAKER_04: I was like, How's it going?
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: He's like, Mr.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: Siebold, how are you?
- 51:43SPEAKER_04: I was like, Wow, full English.
- 51:45SPEAKER_04: This is great.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: And he goes, Yeah, I got really fluent in it, and I went to a pharmacy school at UF and I'm doing really well now.
- 51:52SPEAKER_04: And I was like, that's awesome.
- 51:53SPEAKER_04: And he goes, You know, you were my favorite teacher.
- 51:55SPEAKER_04: I said, You didn't understand a word I said.
- 51:57SPEAKER_04: He goes, No, but I was really scared and I was really fearful.
- 52:01SPEAKER_04: And when you made when you laughed, it made me feel like I wasn't needing to be fearful, like I was in a safe place.
- 52:08SPEAKER_04: And that was kind of like a moment that I was like, wow, you know, that's a cool impact to have just a presence of a positive figure in a kid's life.
- 52:16SPEAKER_04: Doesn't even have to, you know, you always everybody thinks textbooks, tests, things like that.
- 52:21SPEAKER_04: Sometimes kids just want a positive person to be around, and and that can make the difference.
- 52:27SPEAKER_04: They they have so much negativity in their life, you know.
- 52:30SPEAKER_04: So when you have somebody that's willing to laugh and willing to joke with them and willing to not take life so seriously, I think it really kind of opens up their minds.
- 52:38SPEAKER_03: I th I thought you were about to say that he was scared of you, so he laughed awkwardly.
- 52:44SPEAKER_04: Like Yeah, I'm I am tall, I'm 6'6, so it was uh definitely an ominous presence in the class.
- 52:50SPEAKER_04: The first week I was always very strict with the kids, very stern, you know, just kind of uh leaning into the he's a giant mean man, and then you know, you open up once you got the the rules down.
- 53:02SPEAKER_09: So I think that's wonderful because I mean smile and laughter is a universal thing.
- 53:07SPEAKER_09: Like even though he didn't understand necessarily what you were saying, that that feeling of happiness and laughter is contagious.
- 53:14SPEAKER_09: And I think that like even like the class clowns of of classrooms get this bad rap, but if you can do it in a productive way of like still learning, but like making people feel safe, it's it's a a happy, positive thing.
- 53:28SPEAKER_09: And look at he you made a difference in his life.
- 53:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's actually what I talk about in my keynotes when I go into schools.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: I think it's the most profound keynote like out there for teachers to hear is that um people don't understand.
- 53:40SPEAKER_04: You said it perfectly though, but people don't know.
- 53:43SPEAKER_04: Laughter is the way which the earliest humans signaled safety.
- 53:46SPEAKER_04: It was our it was our universal language, and we kept it as a survival mechanism to signal safety to each other.
- 53:53SPEAKER_04: And so um it's weird, but people seek uh laughter in times of hurt and pain and fear.
- 53:59SPEAKER_04: Uh during COVID, all these comedians blew up, Netflix was shoveling money at specials, and there was a reason.
- 54:05SPEAKER_04: It was because people were fearful and they sought out humor for safety.
- 54:09SPEAKER_04: I they always seek out humor for safety.
- 54:11SPEAKER_04: You'd be so shocked if I if you went to one of my comedy shows, the people walking out have stories.
- 54:17SPEAKER_04: They they're oh, I just went through a divorce, my mother just died, my this, and it's uh it's trauma healing.
- 54:22SPEAKER_04: Like it's it's because it's universal, it's the language of healing of safety and feeling like everything's gonna be okay.
- 54:29SPEAKER_04: And so that's why we seek it out.
- 54:31SPEAKER_04: That's also why ticket sales are through the roof right now.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: All the comics are like, yeah.
- 54:42SPEAKER_06: Let's get into the you know, more of the comedy side of you.
- 54:46SPEAKER_06: And now how I discovered you was via your extremely hysterical theme park comedy.
- 54:52SPEAKER_06: Uh, I saw it on Instagram and with Reels with your uh your comedy partner, James.
- 54:56SPEAKER_06: Uh, you know, how did the two of you meet and decide to team up to to create these uh these awesome theme park comedy bits?
- 55:04SPEAKER_04: So he was actually my um host of the very first comedy show I ever did at the Orlando Improv.
- 55:11SPEAKER_04: And when he came out there, I was mesmerized.
- 55:14SPEAKER_04: If you've never seen James live, oh my goodness, like people, tears, like pain, like physical, like they can't laugh harder.
- 55:24SPEAKER_04: And um, and so yeah, it's it's really impressive to see them, them like you know, how how talented this guy is.
- 55:32SPEAKER_04: And so I I actually uh was like, man, I gotta line myself up with that guy.
- 55:36SPEAKER_04: And he saw something of me too.
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: I didn't think I'd had a really good set, but he was like, No, that was really fun.
- 55:41SPEAKER_04: Your writing's really good.
- 55:42SPEAKER_04: I said, Okay, well, great.
- 55:44SPEAKER_04: I'll I'll um you know, host for you anytime you need me.
- 55:47SPEAKER_04: And he had me host for him.
- 55:48SPEAKER_04: So he was fantastic and it was a mentor, you know.
- 55:51SPEAKER_04: Uh so he got me into a lot of comedy clubs, got me my first ever paid gig,$25.
- 55:57SPEAKER_04: And um and I when you're when you're doing a pat a hobby and all of a sudden you see a check in front of you, it's like uh the dream.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: Like it's like, oh my gosh, wait, people want to pay me to do something I really love to do.
- 56:11SPEAKER_04: What?
- 56:11SPEAKER_04: So we started doing just all sorts of sketches together, just little things.
- 56:17SPEAKER_04: We have so many we it I find stuff on my phone that I've never even posted from like 10 years ago.
- 56:22SPEAKER_04: And uh it's just us doing the stupidest stuff, the most random of things.
- 56:27SPEAKER_04: We did podcasting, we were always uh I've been on his show a few times.
- 56:31SPEAKER_04: I did his, he used to have a show on Comcast actually called The Downlow with James Young, and then he actually also had a uh a stand-up comedy called Funny Not Famous, and it was like unknown comics, and I was on that twice, and it was a lot of fun.
- 56:44SPEAKER_04: But he he's just always kind of cheered me on, I've cheered him on, and then we were in the parks, and uh, we just I diehard Disney, and I was like, you know, we should do like some videos, and he's like, I'm down, and his pass was expiring.
- 56:59SPEAKER_04: He goes, But my pass is expiring.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: I was like, Are you trying to get me to buy your pass?
- 57:04SPEAKER_04: So he didn't so he's like, Well, I don't know if I can afford to do this.
- 57:10SPEAKER_04: I was like, All right, whatever, I'll buy it.
- 57:12SPEAKER_04: So I bought his pass, and he was like instantly going, uh, yeah, let's do comedy, let's do jokes.
- 57:17SPEAKER_04: And so we did um, we set our very first one, it was a disaster.
- 57:22SPEAKER_04: I was like, Man, we're gonna this is gonna be terrible.
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: We uh we went through Moana Journey to Water, and um I put my mic on and I was like, let's do a funny sketch here.
- 57:33SPEAKER_04: Put my mic on, and then immediately put my um crossbody bag on, and I guess it knocked the mic off.
- 57:40SPEAKER_04: I didn't know.
- 57:41SPEAKER_04: And the mic like went in the water, and it's Moana, right?
- 57:45SPEAKER_04: Journey of water, so yeah, I know, and so um and and I was like, oh my gosh.
- 57:50SPEAKER_04: And so I picked it up and I was like, I don't even know if it'll still work.
- 57:52SPEAKER_04: It wasn't registering, and then I'd put it on again, and we were walking around, I dropped it again, and this time I couldn't find it.
- 58:00SPEAKER_04: And luckily, somebody actually turned it in to guest services, which was amazing.
- 58:05SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 58:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:06SPEAKER_04: And so we were we were we only had one mic the very first day.
- 58:10SPEAKER_04: We're trying to like share the mic back and forth, and I'm like, this is so bad.
- 58:14SPEAKER_04: I don't know if people like it.
- 58:16SPEAKER_04: And uh man, I was wrong.
- 58:18SPEAKER_04: They just they like humor, and uh, you know, even with one mic, we made it made it work, and um early on we had a lot of videos do pretty well.
- 58:26SPEAKER_04: And uh I was like, look at that, people want to laugh.
- 58:29SPEAKER_04: Let's let's do it, you know.
- 58:31SPEAKER_04: And um since then we've just been going pretty much nonstop.
- 58:35SPEAKER_04: Our content, the amount of stuff we post is like crazy.
- 58:38SPEAKER_06: So, needless to say, if we ever see you in the parks at Journey of Water, you'll only be on the dry path now as opposed to the wet.
- 58:47SPEAKER_06: We've never gone back.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 58:51SPEAKER_04: We're like, all right, we we win on that journey.
- 58:53SPEAKER_04: We'll let uh embrace your fears, okay?
- 58:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:58SPEAKER_09: So as you're doing these, do you find a favorite place that you draw inspiration from?
- 59:03SPEAKER_09: Like the park itself or snacks or just um social media trends, or does it just kind of come naturally day of?
- 59:11SPEAKER_04: So we really like try to steer clear of social media trends.
- 59:14SPEAKER_04: It's nothing against the the people that are doing the trends.
- 59:17SPEAKER_04: I love, I laugh my butt off at some of them.
- 59:20SPEAKER_04: We will sometimes see them and just want to put a little spin on it, you know, or do something a little bit different.
- 59:27SPEAKER_04: But um, we just thrive on the creativity of it all.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: Like we will literally sit and be like, what do we enjoy?
- 59:35SPEAKER_04: Well, how can we bring that into the parks?
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: Can we do any crossovers?
- 59:38SPEAKER_04: I'm sitting there watching Unsolved Mysteries, and I was like, Oh, I gotta do a Disney Unsolved Mysteries, and and then I put out a few of those, and I've I wrote, we even have another one too, of where the mythical beasts world and um uh animal kingdom went, you know, because that was so we did it, we did an unsolved of that one.
- 59:57SPEAKER_04: I haven't even put that out yet now that I remember it, but we've got like quite a few uh that we wrote, and we just started doing like I was watching CSI.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: I was like, we should do some funny CSI Disney stuff, and and uh then he had the um I had the idea of the lawyers, and I think that's been our biggest hit is like we we did the Colton and Jamal lawyer thing, and uh that divorce first one we did of the Mexico-Canada divorce attorneys that was like crazy viral.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_04: And then I'm I'm big into Broadway, he is too, but I'm like big, big into Broadway, and so I know the songs he just he goes and watches, but I'm like the guy that listens to him on Spotify, and like uh you know, you you get in my car and you're listening to the Spring Awakening soundtrack all of a sudden, and people like, What is this?
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, the greatest Broadway play ever.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_04: What are you talking about?
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: You know, and uh and so I decided to cross over Broadway a little bit, and so I'll write the lyrics for like Hamilton, or we did Hades Town because James is really big into Hades Town, you know.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: So, and we've got other ideas.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_04: I've I've wrote a few small ones, and um the uh oh, I've we got a Gatsby crossover.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_04: Um, I I saw Gatsby on Broadway and was just fell in love with the that production.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_04: It was really good, and it has a really good song called Daisy that's like pretty popular in the Broadway community.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_04: Unfortunately, most of the stuff we do is incredibly niche.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I hear you.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_04: Sometimes it gets only like 50,000 views or like 10,000 views, but it loads up with comments of the people that we want, and that's the people that know the Disney, know the references, and it's cool to kind of build your own fan base of people that are kind of on the board with you, you know.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_03: Is there like a favorite park that you guys like to go and film at specifically, or do you just kind of go with the cards?
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_04: So Epcot for two reasons.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_04: Epcot's constantly changing, so they constantly are adding food, but also the thing that the problem we've run into, um, and it's probably been within the past month, like especially difficult, is we can't record because so many people are coming up to us.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_04: And it's a big gift.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: I mean, we are so thankful.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_04: We talk to everybody, and we we spend time.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_04: You are a fan, you're supporting us, we will support you.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_04: We listen, we talk.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_04: I I bought uh I was at Food and Wine the other day, and people were behind me and they were like, Oh, we've never tried this one, this one.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_04: I said, I got you.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_04: So I just bought their whole thing and we just sat it together, you know, just fans who who but we had a problem when we went to like Hollywood studios of we just couldn't film anything.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_04: We had a full like 20 that we needed to get through, and we had to be done by three because he had somewhere to go.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: And I think we got five done.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_04: And you'll notice that most of our recent videos have kind of been off the beaten path.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_04: Like we've had to find some really like quiet places, and it's it's no you know, fault to these people.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_04: We please come up and say hello.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_04: But it's it's um become pretty difficult to film.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: But Epcot has a lot of those hidden spaces that we can go to, so we can go back in Morocco and film something.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_04: We can go over by mission space and film something.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_04: We got like little points where we're start to go, okay.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_04: We need this part, this part, this part, and uh it makes it a little easier, even on the entrance.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_04: We can go all the way right or all the way left and get behind a few trees, film it, and then come back out and say hello to people, you know.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, not anymore, Devin.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_05: We got a good audience, so you gave them all away.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_04: Now they know our spots.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, sorry.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_08: Okay, so besides your Moana incident, was there any other times recording your videos that something went terribly wrong?
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, things go terribly wrong all the time.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_04: We'd we've dropped the camera many times.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_04: We have flubbed lines, we've flubbed lines with curse words.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_04: We have had uh we we've the only thing that we've um really tried to make a really big point of is we don't want kids in the background.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_04: And sometimes we'll do like long videos and we'll do like you know a three-minute sketch, but we'll do it all in one take.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_04: And in the last like 10 seconds, uh a you know, three-year-old walks behind us and you can see their full face.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, uh, so then we're like, we gotta redo that.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_04: I don't want to blur them out.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_04: I try to just keep them out of it.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_04: The video I posted tonight, there was a little girl in the background, but she kept her face away.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_04: I just don't want faces of the kids in there.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: So we we try to keep the the people generally out of our videos.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: So um, you know, there's constantly uh challenges.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_04: Um we've left the camera behind, we've had uh ducks attack us while we're trying to do food reviews.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_04: We did a we did a French fry review, and that was ridiculous.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_04: But we did a review of the French fries in the UK, and we were like, nobody reviews the fries, let's review the fries.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_04: And literally, we were getting swarmed by the the birds and ducks because we were the first people down there and they were hungry, and uh so it it depends, but yeah, we've got quite a few.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_04: I've I'm gonna put together a blooper roll blooper uh reel one day.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, for sure.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_04: Endless like craziness.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_06: So yeah, you were talking about fries.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_06: I I thought you were gonna go to the uh you posted a video the other day of the new poutine place in the refreshment port.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_06: Oh, they actually brought forks in now, it's incredible.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was shocked when I walked up.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_04: I saw somebody with one, and I was like, they have forks now because I'd asked for one before and you couldn't even get one.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_04: And then this time they actually just literally put the fork in there, and I was like, no way.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_04: And it's true though, that little wooden thing was the most pathetic.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_05: Oh, it was silly.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_04: Couldn't get a single fry on that thing.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_04: I don't know who if you tried to eat it, it would take you an hour.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_04: It's insane.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_04: I think the birds like were behind that.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_04: They wanted to drop all the fries tried to eat conspiracy, yeah.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_06: Obviously, we know we talked about you know the things that have gone wrong, but you know, a lot of your content though is extremely funny.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_06: And I think what makes it so funny.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_06: Is that you, you know, the subject matter that you're talking about for you know the Disney adult, the you know, the mega Disney fans that we are, you hit this stuff right on the nose.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_06: While I'm sure that Disney themselves don't say anything to you.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_06: Have you ever gotten like any like cast member feedback?
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, whether it be positive or negative?
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_04: Cast members absolutely love us, but we treat them with utmost respect.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_04: I mean, and that's the thing is as soon as cast members walk up to us or talk to us, we look at the name tag, we remember their name, we say hello to them every time we go.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: There's some that we've just made it a habit.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_04: We're like, oh, Gail is over at the fry booth, we gotta go say hi to Gail.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_04: We'll walk out of our way to go say hi to her.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_04: And and um uh Mariselli and uh the the Sophia over in somebody messaged us.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_04: Uh um, I won't say who, but somebody messaged us when they were on shift and they were like, Hey, it's all you're in the park.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_04: Uh, do you ever come by such and such?
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_04: And we walked all the way over there, didn't even respond, just walked right in, was like, hello.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_04: And you know, so we try to acknowledge the cast members and and um respect everything that they do because James was a cast member.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_04: He actually worked in um uh catering and used to feed all everybody there.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_04: Uh so yeah, he he worked there for quite a while, and uh so yeah, we we love the cast members, but a lot of them are big fans of us.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_04: One time, I'll tell you a funny cast member story.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_04: One time we did a video with the new trash cans, like the day they came out.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_04: We were in Epcot and we did a video and we were making fun of them.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_04: We were roasting them and we were like just you know having fun with it.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_04: And then like a uh higher up uh cast member came by and they're like, Oh my gosh, I'm the biggest fan of you.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_04: And we were like, Oh, thanks so much.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_04: It's so great to see you.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_04: And we took a picture with her, and she was so nice.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_04: And then she goes, Oh, what do you got?
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_04: Are you guys filming anything today?
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_04: We're like, Yeah, we're filming a few things.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_04: She goes, Good, just don't make fun of my trash cans, please.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_04: Let's put them out.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Oh no, we out of respect, we shelved that video.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_04: We never posted roast the trash cans, so you know, but we we it was funny too.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_04: I I wish we would have posted it, but she was just so heart, she was so so much heart and passion into these trash cans.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_04: I was like, we can't turn around and post that, she'd be devastated.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_06: So is there any content coming to um I I know a lot of people have been poking fun now that food and wine is in full force, those new tables that they've built on the railings, but you know, and they put like the very small sticker that please don't sit there when you clearly know people are gonna sit there.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_04: We we've got just a few things written about that.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_04: And um I mean, I can't, we we've got so much stuff, but that we've got that uh a sketch on that written.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_04: Um, we were working on uh so one of the my favorite ones that we have coming up is he and I are gonna be a southern um uh southern two southern women that were on Star Tours and thought it was a real tour and got really upset that it got hijacked.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_04: And like they're kind of giving their story about like they're trying to talk to the manager uh about how they didn't appreciate being uh light beamed into a different galaxy, you know.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_04: So it's uh we we just bounce ideas.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_04: I text him all day.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_04: He's texting me, he's like, we should do this, and I'm like, Yeah, let's do that.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_04: And then we just kind of collab and write it and piece it together, and then we just gotta get to the parks and film it.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_06: Is is there one particular park or like Disney nuanced thing that that is like the funniest thing to the two of you, or or you know, or or gives you an opportunity to write about?
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_04: I don't know, per se.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's uh there's a lot of humor in the parks, you just gotta kind of look for it.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_04: It's uh I will Magic Kingdom has a ton of stuff like uh to kind of make fun of and and kind of roast and talk about.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_04: And we've done quite a few videos on Magic Kingdom, uh, but we have so much more.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_04: It's just again kind of hard to film there.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_04: So uh we need to go.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_04: I we have some plans to go on like some evening nights and stuff where it's a little bit harder to maybe spot us, or we can uh get a little bit quieter because it's the crowds are lower.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_04: So we have some not so scaries coming up and things like that where we're gonna film some things in those uh that uh kingdom, yeah, Magic Kingdom.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_04: But the worst part about it is the the monorail, like it's just takes forever to get there.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_04: I'm like, all right, let's meet at Magic Kingdom, you know, and it's like, yeah, we're nine on Main Street, and it's like okay, so we'll both get there at 7:45 and then try to get into the park by nine, you know.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_08: One of the other things that you guys seem to have a fascination with is mint tea in Morocco.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_08: What's the deal with that?
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_04: So uh we I I had already I'd already tried the mint tea.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_04: I was in love with the mint tea for ever since they got like had it.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: I've just been the biggest fan of the mint tea.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_04: And I think it was kind of a big deal for James because he'd never tried it.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_04: And when he tried it, it instantly became like one of his favorite drinks.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_04: And it's so refreshing that we we always make it a point like we're done with Epcot, and that's our last spot to go, and we're dehydrated, we're sweating, we've got you know, uh a few thousand steps in already, and it just hits the spot every single time.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_04: And you I think it's you sit by the water right outside, and there's just a breeze coming, you can hear the boats.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_04: It's just the most majestic drink, I think, on property in terms of like ambiance and taste, and it's just the perfect end to a day.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_04: And uh it's interesting too because the frozen one's good, but I just think that iced one just is the best, just to sit in there and sip on it and just feel like uh you know, uh a southern woman on the porch, you know, and uh enjoying the afternoon, you know.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_08: I've never tried it, so I might have to put that on my bucket list.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, too many people tag us and go, Oh my gosh, it's amazing.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_04: They're like, No, it's really, really good.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_04: But I will say I have a new tea I'm gonna try to get James in too.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_04: There's a a rosemary mint tea that uh Spice and Tea Exchange has at Springs.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_04: And I tried that the other day, and that was phenomenal too.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_04: And I was like, man, I was like, I and I bought some and uh ended up making it in my house, the iced version.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_04: It's delicious.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_04: So and the best part about it is it's yeah, it's not the best part about it, too, is like the Moroccan mint is like really sweet because they add sweetener to it.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_04: The um rosemary mint is not sweet at all, but it tastes so flavorful that it doesn't need it.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_04: So if you don't like a lot of sugar, it's probably the better way to go.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_06: Bob, I think you need to introduce Devin to the uh your go-to drink in Epcot, the uh tipsy ducks and love.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_06: Because I feel like that could lead to, you know, especially all your bird talk about getting attacked with a fries, I feel like that could lead to some good content as well.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_06: Too, you know, if you're a little tipsy, that should you invoke some hilarity as well.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm a lightweight.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_04: We we we did a full video at Ogas the other day, and I had one drink, and James had one drink, and I don't know if that bartender just hated us or wanted to see us uh kicked out of Epcot or of uh Hollywood.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_04: We were hammered on one drink.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_04: Wow, and then it's funny because you see the video, we're like, Yeah, we're at Ogas, we're gonna have a great time, and then like eight minutes in, we're sitting there, like, you know, I don't want to talk about politics, but here's my opinion.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_04: And like we just were diving in, and we were uh that I and I also think it was the heat too, but man, we hadn't had any breakfast on an MDC.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, there you go.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_04: Went straight there, and it just tore us up.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_04: A lot of factors.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, Tipsy Ducks and Love, Chinese pavilion.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_05: I'm finishing the marathon with a friend named Mary.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_05: She's never had one.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_05: We're not gonna cross with a beer, we're crossing with a TDIL.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_05: So I said, I'll buy it for you, Mary.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_05: Here you go.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_05: Now I've had them before, and I don't know if you have or not.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_05: What they do with this the joy of tea booth is they pour, they've got it ready.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_05: It's a semi-frozen drink, they pour it, then they pour a shot of bourbon on top.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_05: Oh you take the straw and you stir it around.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_05: Unless you don't know what they've done.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_05: And I go, here you go, Mary.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_05: And when we just finished a marathon, right?
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_05: We're finishing a marathon.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_05: Bob, I'm going to kill you.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_05: Oh, I forgot.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_05: You're supposed to start.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_05: I was not popular, but it's a good story.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_05: Good story.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_04: People don't understand how much alcohol that little tea booth has.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_04: They've got like some, they've got one mixed one that just I'm watching them pour it and I'm like, all right, how are you?
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_04: You guys are losing money on this.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_04: There's no way.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_06: All right.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_06: Well, Devin, you know, speaking of the marathon and and Bob, you know, buying drinks for people, you know, when we were looking at your social media pro profile more in depth, you know, we were really, really excited to see that you're part of the Run Disney family.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_06: So, you know, we got to know what drew you to this subsect of the uh of the Disney community.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_04: Man, so probably in about 2009, I was uh dating somebody that was a runner, and I got into running because she was running.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_04: And I had already I had ran in high school, even and it's weird because I'm a giant, I'm really tall, and people don't look at me and they go, No, you're not a runner.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_04: And I go, actually, my name's on the wall.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_04: I used to run the mile, and I I got my mile time was insane.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_04: It was like 445.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh, unbelievable, you know.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_04: So it was a school record at the time.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_04: It was in it was I I just used my stride.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_04: So I used to love running, and she got really into running, and she did a run Disney event.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_04: And it was back when you could like stand on Main Street in Magic Kingdom and like cheer people on.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_04: And like I rode the monorail over there, I was cheering her on.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_04: She was, you know, it was only uh it was the princess, like the first year of the princess one, I think, or I don't know.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_04: I it was something she was dressed as a princess, I remember that.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_04: And um, I was like enamored.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_04: I was like, this is the coolest thing ever.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_04: This is what I want to do.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_04: And I chickened out my first time.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_04: I actually signed up for the Tower of Terror 10 mile.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, my that was my very first one I signed up for, and I trained Nada.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_04: I was like, I was like, hey, I'll be fine 10 miles.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_04: You know, sure.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'll be good.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_04: I'll be good.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_04: And I remember like two weeks before it started, I got on the treadmill, and I think that the first mile just murdered me.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_04: I was like, there's no way I can do 10.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_04: I was like, I think I'm just gonna be out of the money.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_04: I did and in my mind too, I didn't know you could like just walk or like speed walk.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_04: So I was thinking, you gotta run.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_04: And like I was like, I'll literally just die before I get to the finish line.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_04: And um, and so I I chickened out on that one, and then I signed up again and I started doing like the 5k, the 10k.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_04: Uh, and I this will be my first year doing the full.
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_04: Uh so oh nice.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'll be doing the full for the the January one, and uh I'm excited about that.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_04: But uh, you know, training is is no joke.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_04: People, you know, I don't know why, but people think it'cause it's Disney that there's like some magical conveyor belt that's gonna whisk them to the finish line, but it's it's hard.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_04: I mean, it is hard.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's yeah, when I when I first started running, I mean, they have the mile markers and stuff, and I remember I'd see a mile marker and I'd be like, Oh, there's mile marker uh four.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, great.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_04: And then I just run and run and run, and I'm like, all right, I I passed five.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_04: I had to have passed.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they must they must have pulled them up or something.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_04: I've five was back there.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_04: There's no way.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_04: And then, like, you know, a few minutes later, I see five, and I'm like, they they messed this one up.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_04: This whole thing's marked wrong.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_04: There's no way.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_04: And then you look at your watch, you're like, Oh, I'm just I'm not as in shape as I want to be for this right now, you know.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_04: So I always said it's humbling though when you're you're really think you're making really good time, and then some guy dressed as a grandfather clock like Cogsworth passes you, and you're like, Oh my god, you're like, Maybe uh, maybe I'm not cut out for this.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_04: But I I just love it.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_04: It's oh, it's so much energy.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_04: Like, that's the thing.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_04: You get there at like 4 a.m.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_04: and these I mean, everybody's just like ready, and like there's just this passion in the air, people are excited, everybody's stretching.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_04: It's it's wild, man.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_04: I think the first time you do one, you're like, I'm hooked.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, uh, quite often that's the case.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_05: How about I mean you talked a little bit.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_05: How about some favorite Run Disney memories on your part?
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_05: Races, parts of races, yeah.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so this past uh one that was with the Muppets uh was my my absolute favorite when they did the uh the I think it was the wine and dine last year or the maybe the year before, but it was Muppet themed.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_06: And it was the Swedish chef, yep.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_04: Yes, chef was there, and man, I I love humor, so I'm cracking up.
- 1:18:57SPEAKER_04: I remember it so he was like on stage and like somebody went by dressed as Miss Piggy and he was like pork chop.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Pork, yeah, yeah, right jokes like that, you know.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_04: And then uh you're you're running, and uh, you know, the they're like all this for a banana, you know, and it's like there was the opposite of motivation and some of it, and I was like, that's so perfect that they they I just always think the mup, and then they had the chickens, you can meet the chickens like as a meet and greet right there, which I wish they would do more Muppet meet and greets, but obviously they can't because the Muppets talk, you know, and they people would ex-numer meet and greet where he's not talking.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_04: I think that's why they always choose like meet and greets of Muppets that are non-talking characters like the chickens.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_04: Like they threw the chickens out there because the chickens don't talk, they just stand there, you get a picture taken, you know.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_04: But uh, I wish they would do more, you know, uh with the Muppets, but but yeah, I I really enjoyed that.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the only one I ever saw was Alicia, I think it was that one winning dine we ran together.
- 1:20:01SPEAKER_06: They had Swedums out.
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_06: Yes, yeah, but it was uh it wasn't like a true character stop, it was just like one of those like selfie stations, and you and you had to go.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_06: But you know, that that's that's a really, really solid point about yeah.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_06: If I if I saw Curbed on the Course, yeah, I'd want to sing Rainbow Connection with them.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_04: So yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_04: You want to like have a conversation and uh they'd have to have the voice and then they'd have to monitor what they say.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_04: I mean, you can't just put like pre-program, you know, some of these uh, you know, you go through Star Wars Land and there's pre-programmed voices in the the troopers and the you know, they got things that they say, but it's not them, it's the the helmet talking or the you know, whatever that is.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_04: It's it's kind of neat, but you could never do that with a Muppet.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_03: Do you also like when you go and do these Run Disney races, do you dress up for them?
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_03: Like, do you have specific characters in mind, or what's like your biggest idea?
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_04: I would love to.
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_04: My problem is is that I've every single year I've ran, I've always repped Saint Jude.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_04: And so I've uh just loved to rep them.
- 1:21:01SPEAKER_04: So they sent me the shirt and they sent me the everything to wear, and I just feel like I should, you know, and it's it's you know something that I want people to be more aware of and see people running with the St.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_04: Jude stuff on.
- 1:21:16SPEAKER_04: So uh if I'm there repping them, I will do that.
- 1:21:19SPEAKER_04: But I would like to maybe explore like an outfit that I could include, you know, like a St.
- 1:21:25SPEAKER_04: Jude logo on or something and make it make it Saint Jude, but also Disney themed, you know.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_04: So I don't know.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_04: I've I've got to think about that a little bit more.
- 1:21:33SPEAKER_04: But yeah, sometimes though, I it's I would I think about it, I'm like, man, I should wear like a costume, and then I see people just struggling, you know, and I'm like, oh my gosh, they they did not think that through, you know.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_04: If you put on a good costume, that's great, but you should run in it first.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, I think sometimes that was the first the first time they've ever put on the costume.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, you don't understand how difficult this one's gonna be, but the you know, but then also sometimes I I think you know how brilliant they are.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_04: It's it's really impressive to see the ideas people come up with.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_08: Okay, so you mentioned Saint Jude.
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_08: So we know you're doing both Wine and Dine and Marathon Weekend.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_08: I know you're running St.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_08: Jude's for one and no kids hungry for another.
- 1:22:19SPEAKER_08: Any uh, what makes these organizations so important to you?
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_04: So for St.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_04: Jude, I've been a St.
- 1:22:24SPEAKER_04: Jude ambassador for years.
- 1:22:26SPEAKER_04: They found they sought me out as a creator, um, as a teacher, and they messaged me and were like, hey, would you like to come to our campus, uh, spend a few days here?
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_04: We will um put you up in the hotel room and we will give you all the tools you need to help us fundraise because we think you have a really big audience and we see that you're passionate.
- 1:22:45SPEAKER_04: I was donating to St.
- 1:22:46SPEAKER_04: Jude prior to becoming an ambassador for them, and I think they saw the connection.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_04: They're like, oh, this guy gives us money already, and he's got a big following, you know.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_04: So I went out to the campus and uh fell in love with it.
- 1:23:00SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Oh, you're you're getting all my time and money, you know.
- 1:23:03SPEAKER_04: You the things that they do for the kids and not just the kids, but the families, like it's it's unbelievable.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_04: So um, so I decided, you know, as soon as I saw they were an option to run for them, I was like, that's uh a no-brainer.
- 1:23:15SPEAKER_04: The the um no kid hungry, so I actually did a few fundraisers for them as a comedian.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_04: Uh, we did the Treasure Coast Food Bank and um I did a fundraiser for them here in Orlando.
- 1:23:26SPEAKER_04: Uh and so I started working with them kind of on the side and noticed the good things they were doing.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_04: And my I actually was a um, we had the Orlando Fringe Festival, and I I was a a writer and a director behind a uh uh video on homelessness, and we chatted with the mayor, Buddy Dyer, and tried to uh find some good common ground solutions for getting people fed and off the streets.
- 1:23:50SPEAKER_04: And so it just kind of became more involved with that.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_04: So I was like, well, you know, I can do both.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_04: Uh they're not gonna get mad if I'm raising money for the other.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_04: You know, of course not.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_04: And and so yeah, it works out really well.
- 1:24:01SPEAKER_04: But I like being involved in that stuff.
- 1:24:03SPEAKER_04: Charitable giving, I think, is something that people really need to kind of get on board with, is especially nowadays, all the funding and stuff, especially from like government, you don't realize how how underfunded all this stuff is.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_04: All the grants went away.
- 1:24:16SPEAKER_04: You know, I just did a I literally just did a fundraiser two days ago, three days ago in Denver.
- 1:24:21SPEAKER_04: And it was for a uh the Greeley house, which is uh for homeless people, uh, to find um the a room to get back on their feet.
- 1:24:30SPEAKER_04: And they were talking about how they're 50,000, they were 50,000 short this year from the government funding uh grants.
- 1:24:37SPEAKER_04: And so, you know, so yeah, they could use all of our help.
- 1:24:40SPEAKER_04: I think if you're gonna run and you're gonna spend that much money on a entry, you know, if you if you have people that you know you might be able to get to donate, you know, grab one of those fundraising slots because I know it's crazy.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_04: People I still to this day, they go, uh, oh, I tried to get on, but I couldn't get on register.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_04: And I go, you know, you can register right now if you're willing to raise a thousand dollars for St.
- 1:25:03SPEAKER_04: Jude.
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_04: And they're like, really?
- 1:25:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, well, I don't know if I want to be committed to a thousand.
- 1:25:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, well, I'll spot you a hundred.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_04: So can you come up with nine hundred?
- 1:25:13SPEAKER_04: And do you have a a friend or uh, you know, you call up your grandma or you know, somebody and just try to get 50 from them, 25 from them, maybe do a challenge on your Facebook and get ten dollars here.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_04: You have a birthday, you could do a birthday for my birthday, donate five dollars, and then pretty soon your entry is paid and you raise money for a good cause.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_03: So, speaking of fundraising, can you tell us just a little bit more about the recent fundraising challenge that you do you and James did that involved um a certain attraction he is not a fan of?
- 1:25:50SPEAKER_04: Uh so James had never been on Tower of Terror, and I didn't know that.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_04: We went to uh Hollywood Studios and I put it on our lightning lane and we were walking there and he goes, Where are we going?
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_04: I go, uh Tower of Terror.
- 1:26:02SPEAKER_04: And he goes, No.
- 1:26:04SPEAKER_04: I go, No.
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_04: I said it's our lightning lane.
- 1:26:06SPEAKER_04: He goes, Yeah, I'm not doing it.
- 1:26:07SPEAKER_04: I was like, What I I what do you mean?
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_04: He goes, I've never been on it and I never will.
- 1:26:12SPEAKER_04: I don't like rides that fall.
- 1:26:13SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Oh my gosh.
- 1:26:15SPEAKER_04: I said, Well, we're getting you on it.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_04: And he's like, No, I'm never doing it.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Okay, and this, you know, as lightning lanes, you got to scan in, uh, you know, to to zero it out.
- 1:26:26SPEAKER_04: And I told him, I said, just go through the line with me.
- 1:26:28SPEAKER_04: And he was petrified.
- 1:26:30SPEAKER_04: And he's like, I was gonna kidnap him and throw him on this ride.
- 1:26:33SPEAKER_04: And he's like, No, no, I'm not doing it.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_04: I'm not doing it.
- 1:26:36SPEAKER_04: And I was like, just through this room and we'll be in the boiler room.
- 1:26:39SPEAKER_04: He's like, Is this it?
- 1:26:40SPEAKER_04: Is this where we I'm like, no, and I was like, My goodness, you are really genuinely afraid of it.
- 1:26:44SPEAKER_04: And I said, You it's really a lot of fun, you gotta conquer your fears.
- 1:26:48SPEAKER_04: And so we talked about it, and I was like, you know, would you ever do it if we like reached a hundred thousand followers or maybe did like a fundraiser or something?
- 1:26:56SPEAKER_04: He goes, if we did a fundraiser and we raised for a good cause, he goes, I'd consider it.
- 1:27:00SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Okay, so we set the goal uh to for St.
- 1:27:05SPEAKER_04: Jude, and it was uh just 3,500, and I think we reached it in like two hours.
- 1:27:10SPEAKER_04: And um, and I told him, I said, I'm not sure if everybody loves Saint Jude or everybody hates you.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_04: Because they want you on this thing, and uh, so he did that.
- 1:27:22SPEAKER_04: And he's the funny thing is, is he's got now a few rides he needs to conquer.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_04: He's never been on Tiana or Splash Mountain, he never did it.
- 1:27:29SPEAKER_04: He doesn't like falls.
- 1:27:30SPEAKER_04: He would said okay, falls he wouldn't do so.
- 1:27:33SPEAKER_04: That one he never done.
- 1:27:34SPEAKER_04: And um, you know, when we go over to DCA, there's a few over there we got to get them on, and the guardians for sure, you know, things like that.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_04: So, but yeah, he was petrified.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_04: But as soon as we raise the money, I called him and I go, Hey, we did it.
- 1:27:46SPEAKER_04: And he goes, Did what?
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_04: And we reached the goal.
- 1:27:51SPEAKER_04: He goes, 'Aready?' And he was like, Oh, and then he was disheartened because from that point on, for like a full week and a half.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_04: People were messaging us nonstop.
- 1:28:02SPEAKER_04: When's he doing it?
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_04: When's he doing it?
- 1:28:05SPEAKER_04: He was like, Why does everybody hate me?
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_04: I was like, they don't.
- 1:28:08SPEAKER_04: They're just they don't have fun with the event.
- 1:28:10SPEAKER_04: So, but yeah, it was uh he did it though.
- 1:28:13SPEAKER_04: He was terrified.
- 1:28:14SPEAKER_04: Uh, but it went really, really well.
- 1:28:16SPEAKER_04: Everybody loved the video, and uh man, I had to get such a good time tormenting my friend.
- 1:28:21SPEAKER_09: So I'm right there with James.
- 1:28:23SPEAKER_09: I don't like falling rides.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_09: So I mean, if it was for a good cause like that, I would I would go on it, but that is not one people can get me on like challenge accepted.
- 1:28:32SPEAKER_03: At least like his his fear is not of elevators.
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_03: When I was working there at Tower of Terror, people would do the whole walkthrough, assuming there was like a stairway down for them to take to wherever they take an elevator when they find out that they actually have to still go on an elevator to go down to the exit area.
- 1:28:50SPEAKER_03: I've had people walk all the way back through, hope that the bookcases over like doors would open so they can go back through and walk through the entire line just to avoid the elevator.
- 1:29:02SPEAKER_03: So at least, at least he wasn't scared of an elevator.
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_04: No, he was mortified when he got into that elevator to leave for sure.
- 1:29:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_04: And he said it was just him and like a three-year-old.
- 1:29:17SPEAKER_04: Three-year-old was comforting him.
- 1:29:21SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_06: You know, Devin, earlier on uh in the interview, you you referenced um actually one of my favorite bits that you guys do, and that is the legal consulting uh with uh Colton and Jamal.
- 1:29:35SPEAKER_06: So I'm gonna present a hypothetical to you here, and that is if the two of you were to protect the Run Disney runner, what would you be saving us from so that um we could get financial compensation from Run Disney?
- 1:29:50SPEAKER_04: Um I would say the the suspect boxed uh meal that you get at the very end, it's you know, they they give it to you, and sure it's got that little liege waffle in there, the power waffle of like a banana, but like we need some quality food here, you know, like we a little lobster tail every now and then, you know.
- 1:30:11SPEAKER_04: We just ran a full marathon and they're like, Yeah, here's you know, uh 78 cents worth of food in a little box, and it's just the most anticlimatic thing, you know.
- 1:30:21SPEAKER_04: But I don't know, probably that or um uh I don't know.
- 1:30:26SPEAKER_04: I I I would say we have a decent lawsuit on our hands because I did the 10k uh last year, and um I looked at my watch and I had to like message some people.
- 1:30:36SPEAKER_04: I was like, what was your final distance on that?
- 1:30:40SPEAKER_04: And they were like, oh, it was like 6.4 or like 6.3 or something.
- 1:30:44SPEAKER_04: And I was like, oh, it's over.
- 1:30:46SPEAKER_04: I was like, I thought so too.
- 1:30:47SPEAKER_04: And like, and then I was like messaging people and they're like, Yeah, the track was a little bit longer, and I'm like, but that's that's not supposed to happen.
- 1:30:54SPEAKER_04: There's a they need to pull it back like a little ways or something.
- 1:30:57SPEAKER_04: You know, they had like this design, which is fine, but uh here I was crossing, and I was like, you know, I plan for a 10k, I didn't plan for a 10.1k.
- 1:31:05SPEAKER_04: You're messing with people there's definitely lawsuits there.
- 1:31:10SPEAKER_04: Uh and I think we should all sue Norway.
- 1:31:13SPEAKER_04: Uh here's the thing because the second you get on that boardwalk, you pass Norway and you smell or you get as soon as you get the protocol case, yeah.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_04: You smell the roll, the school bread and the cinnamon, and it all smells so good.
- 1:31:32SPEAKER_04: And that's the most punishing.
- 1:31:33SPEAKER_04: I'm literally like two miles in, and you're hitting me with like the best of smells and flavors, and it's not open.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_04: I can't go buy any of that stuff.
- 1:31:41SPEAKER_04: I just have to, you know, uh miss it, unfortunately.
- 1:31:45SPEAKER_04: But yeah, I would I remember passing by that and going, oh man, they really would be baking this early.
- 1:31:51SPEAKER_04: That breaks my heart.
- 1:31:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:31:54SPEAKER_06: Oh, the the one that always gets me similar to the smells is especially on the 10K course, when you go by the beach club and yacht club, there's always that one spot right before Stromlong Bay where I all I can smell is bacon.
- 1:32:08SPEAKER_06: And I'm like, that's all I want in that moment.
- 1:32:10SPEAKER_06: So I I feel your pain.
- 1:32:13SPEAKER_06: I think you're gonna start with our treatment plant.
- 1:32:16SPEAKER_04: Also, we should sue the rich people at Yacht Club because to have no cheering right there, they have a no-teering literally like the they're like quiet here.
- 1:32:26SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, why?
- 1:32:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they they booked this, not me.
- 1:32:30SPEAKER_04: I you know, they knew what's happening.
- 1:32:32SPEAKER_04: It's so funny, they don't say quiet at the value resorts as you pass by.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_04: It's just the rich people that get the quiet area, and they're like, no, no, we're cheering.
- 1:32:41SPEAKER_04: Uh bring on the marching band.
- 1:32:43SPEAKER_04: It doesn't make any sense.
- 1:32:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you go.
- 1:32:46SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 1:32:47SPEAKER_06: Well, well, hopefully we'll we'll see some Run Disney content uh you know from you guys in the future.
- 1:32:52SPEAKER_06: But Devin, this was an awesome interview.
- 1:32:54SPEAKER_06: It was an absolute pleasure to get to know you.
- 1:32:56SPEAKER_06: Before we officially wrap things up, obviously, you're involved with so much between the keynotes, the comedy tours, obviously, you know, everything on social media.
- 1:33:06SPEAKER_06: Tell all of our listening audience where they can find out more about you and the theme park comedians.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:33:12SPEAKER_04: Uh, we're at theme park comedians on pretty much all social media.
- 1:33:15SPEAKER_04: And then for me, it's Devin Siebold or Devin Seabold comedy.
- 1:33:18SPEAKER_04: Uh, people are often surprised because they see our our con our theme park comedians page and like, oh, you have you know 80,000 followers.
- 1:33:25SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 1:33:25SPEAKER_04: And then I'm like, yeah, have you been to my personal one?
- 1:33:27SPEAKER_04: And they're like, oh, you have half a million.
- 1:33:29SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yeah, sorry.
- 1:33:30SPEAKER_04: I got a lot over there.
- 1:33:31SPEAKER_04: Uh but it's uh yeah, I've been doing comedy for a long time.
- 1:33:34SPEAKER_04: So you can find basically either or, but one of them is teacher centered, one of them is Disney and theme park centered for sure.
- 1:33:41SPEAKER_06: We're so excited that you have done just such an amazing job fundraising for all your efforts for this upcoming uh Run Disney race season.
- 1:33:48SPEAKER_06: We will be cheering you on both on and off the course for your first marathon.
- 1:33:54SPEAKER_06: Uh so please report back to us that to tell us how that goes.
- 1:33:57SPEAKER_06: Uh and you know, you know, maybe the next time we'll see you, you know, you'll have your medal on and you know your Mickey years, as long as Run Disney's still giving us the Mickey years.
- 1:34:05SPEAKER_06: Hopefully that still happens.
- 1:34:06SPEAKER_06: But best of luck in that.
- 1:34:08SPEAKER_06: And uh again, thank you so much for joining us here on Rise and Run.
- 1:34:10SPEAKER_07: Thank you.
- 1:34:11SPEAKER_07: Caution Runners, change of topic ahead.
- 1:34:16SPEAKER_05: I want to thank Devin for joining us.
- 1:34:17SPEAKER_05: That was uh that was a lot of fun.
- 1:34:19SPEAKER_05: Uh, check his material out.
- 1:34:20SPEAKER_05: It's entertaining.
- 1:34:21SPEAKER_05: His buddy James is pretty darn funny, also.
- 1:34:25SPEAKER_05: So yeah.
- 1:34:26SPEAKER_05: And uh if you see a real tall guy at Disney World who's not me, go say hi to Devin.
- 1:34:34SPEAKER_05: Now, I we did the training updates, but I want to talk about some of the races we have coming up that we didn't address.
- 1:34:41SPEAKER_05: Now, Burden Hands a week away, friends.
- 1:34:43SPEAKER_05: See you soon.
- 1:34:45SPEAKER_05: See you next week.
- 1:34:46SPEAKER_05: Uh, hopefully you've registered for the dinner.
- 1:34:48SPEAKER_05: Did we get a final count on that?
- 1:34:50SPEAKER_05: I'm just curious how many people we have going.
- 1:34:52SPEAKER_08: We had 66 at one time at one point.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_08: So we're we're we're we're like at we're at the limit.
- 1:34:59SPEAKER_08: So we're at the number, yeah.
- 1:35:01SPEAKER_08: If you're going to be at the Burning Hand dinner, let us know quickly because I think we have to give a final count, Craig.
- 1:35:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I think when we chatted about this a couple of weeks ago, I think we were gonna make the cutoff um this Friday afternoon.
- 1:35:13SPEAKER_06: So uh September 4th.
- 1:35:15SPEAKER_06: Let's let's call it 5 p.m.
- 1:35:17SPEAKER_06: That's when we're gonna cut it off.
- 1:35:19SPEAKER_06: Uh so obviously, if you're listening day of or day after, you still have a chance, but if not, we'll cut it off after that point.
- 1:35:25SPEAKER_05: Now we will see you there Friday afternoon, Friday afternoon, Friday evening, the pasta dinner.
- 1:35:31SPEAKER_05: Uh I know I plan to go.
- 1:35:32SPEAKER_05: I think Greg and John plan to go also.
- 1:35:36SPEAKER_05: Don't get them confused.
- 1:35:38SPEAKER_05: The pasta dinner is a fun event.
- 1:35:41SPEAKER_05: It's great to see everybody.
- 1:35:43SPEAKER_05: It's nowhere near as good as the after race buffet.
- 1:35:47SPEAKER_05: So don't be disappointed.
- 1:35:50SPEAKER_05: The uh Miles2Go 5K in Orlando is coming up on the 19th of September.
- 1:35:56SPEAKER_05: Still time to register for that one.
- 1:35:58SPEAKER_05: That's the Miles2Go charity fundraiser.
- 1:36:01SPEAKER_05: There's a discount code if you register.
- 1:36:04SPEAKER_05: It's Rise and Run.
- 1:36:06SPEAKER_05: Still looking forward another six weeks from now, just before Wine and Dine.
- 1:36:11SPEAKER_05: We've got the Rise and Run 5K in Kissimmee.
- 1:36:15SPEAKER_05: I haven't checked to see how many people are going to that.
- 1:36:20SPEAKER_05: There is a team Rise and Run.
- 1:36:22SPEAKER_05: A couple people, including Jack, have told me they're going to be there but hadn't registered yet.
- 1:36:28SPEAKER_05: Uh Space Coast, the week before Thanksgiving.
- 1:36:32SPEAKER_05: There will be a meetup at the Village Idiot.
- 1:36:35SPEAKER_05: I haven't put that on the schedule yet.
- 1:36:37SPEAKER_05: Donna Weekend, if you're going to the Donna Weekend in Jacksonville, when I registered, I made a team Rise and Run, but then I found out there was a team moving for Jeff Galloway.
- 1:36:47SPEAKER_05: We were able to move the Rise and Run team members to the Moving for Jeff Galloway team, which put 43 members on that team now.
- 1:36:56SPEAKER_05: And friends, you know most of them.
- 1:36:59SPEAKER_05: They are our friends from the podcast from customized training.
- 1:37:03SPEAKER_05: So they're there.
- 1:37:04SPEAKER_05: Uh Flying Pig will start to register soon.
- 1:37:06SPEAKER_05: Flying Pig Registration hasn't started yet.
- 1:37:09SPEAKER_05: It starts soon.
- 1:37:11SPEAKER_05: You can use our code FPM27RISERUN.
- 1:37:20SPEAKER_05: All one word.
- 1:37:21SPEAKER_05: Or you can use Allen 10.
- 1:37:23SPEAKER_05: But wait till next year.
- 1:37:25SPEAKER_05: Next year we're getting a different code.
- 1:37:27SPEAKER_05: Now, friends have reminded me of races.
- 1:37:29SPEAKER_05: There's one up in Carnation, Washington on September 12th.
- 1:37:33SPEAKER_05: So we're getting close.
- 1:37:35SPEAKER_05: The beat the blurch run.
- 1:37:38SPEAKER_05: There's only two folks in the race report right now.
- 1:37:41SPEAKER_05: But I remember reading about this in years past from race reports.
- 1:37:45SPEAKER_05: It's legendary.
- 1:37:46SPEAKER_05: If you're in the area, that's a destination race.
- 1:37:50SPEAKER_05: The Beat the Blurch.
- 1:37:51SPEAKER_05: They got multiple distances there.
- 1:37:54SPEAKER_05: I think I think they have from 5K to full, but I'm not sure.
- 1:37:57SPEAKER_05: That's a great event.
- 1:37:59SPEAKER_05: Again, more local to Orlando on September 26th.
- 1:38:03SPEAKER_05: Our friend Mark has asked me to tell you about the Margav Margaritaville run 5K, 10K, and half.
- 1:38:10SPEAKER_05: There will be Galloway pacers, including Adam.
- 1:38:16SPEAKER_05: Jack?
- 1:38:17SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:38:18SPEAKER_05: You're pacing.
- 1:38:19SPEAKER_05: What are you pacing, Jack?
- 1:38:20SPEAKER_03: I'm pacing with Adam.
- 1:38:22SPEAKER_05: Uh half?
- 1:38:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:38:24SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:38:25SPEAKER_05: And other friends will be there.
- 1:38:27SPEAKER_05: Mark also wanted me to tell you about the Galloway 360 app that they put together a mental resilience training challenge based on Jeff Galloway's work and sports psychology.
- 1:38:40SPEAKER_05: But it started yesterday.
- 1:38:42SPEAKER_05: You might still be able to get in if you're on the Galloway 360 app.
- 1:38:45SPEAKER_05: Last one I heard from, I heard from our friend Lessa, who by the way just finished her 105k.
- 1:38:53SPEAKER_05: And I messed up.
- 1:38:54SPEAKER_05: I promised we'd talk to her, but we'll talk to her soon, lessa, I apologize.
- 1:38:59SPEAKER_05: But she's got a code for folks in the Kingsport, Tennessee area for the haunted half and relays which occur on Halloween.
- 1:39:11SPEAKER_05: Use the code Lessa, that's L-E-S-S-A 423.
- 1:39:20SPEAKER_05: L E S S A 423.
- 1:39:22SPEAKER_05: Kingsport, Tennessee, Haunted Half.
- 1:39:25SPEAKER_08: Just what?
- 1:39:25SPEAKER_08: To go back to Bird and Half for one more time.
- 1:39:28SPEAKER_08: Your bib has to get picked up Friday for the half marathon.
- 1:39:35SPEAKER_08: So if you are gonna be coming in late or have an issue, anyone could pick up your bib.
- 1:39:40SPEAKER_08: So that's that's the good thing.
- 1:39:42SPEAKER_08: But I like what they said in their thing.
- 1:39:44SPEAKER_08: Anyone could pick up your bib in your packet, but the whoopee pie might be missing out of your bag later.
- 1:39:52SPEAKER_05: I'm staying across the street, so that's an easy easy one for me.
- 1:39:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:39:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:39:57SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 1:39:59SPEAKER_05: Further announcements.
- 1:40:00SPEAKER_05: This is a Zoom Thursday.
- 1:40:02SPEAKER_05: But before we get to Zoom Thursday, yesterday was a Zoom Wednesday.
- 1:40:06SPEAKER_05: I've put I've put the information on the Facebook pages.
- 1:40:09SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah, it's kind of too late to talk about the Zoom on Wednesday, but it is a Zoom Thursday.
- 1:40:16SPEAKER_05: Hope to see you there.
- 1:40:19SPEAKER_05: Upcoming episode next week, we talk with Dr.
- 1:40:22SPEAKER_05: Sindra Kampoff, author of The Confidence Habit.
- 1:40:28SPEAKER_05: I've been reading it, Alicia's been reading it.
- 1:40:30SPEAKER_05: Lots of good information in there that I think many of our friends will appreciate.
- 1:40:36SPEAKER_05: Especially those of you who are doing some of this for your first time and you're not sure, a little bit nervous.
- 1:40:43SPEAKER_05: I think uh Sindra can help us out on that.
- 1:40:49SPEAKER_05: And now please stand clear of the door.
- 1:40:54SPEAKER_05: It's time for a race report.
- 1:41:02SPEAKER_05: The race report sponsored by Thomas Stokes, Stoked Metabolic Training, Stokes.fit slash rise and run coaching is the place for more information.
- 1:41:13SPEAKER_05: Tom has just started enrollments for the Finnish Strong Four-week challenge.
- 1:41:20SPEAKER_05: That challenge starts September 14th, ends October 11th.
- 1:41:25SPEAKER_05: I registered today.
- 1:41:28SPEAKER_05: Alicia is registered, I believe.
- 1:41:30SPEAKER_05: John is registered.
- 1:41:31SPEAKER_05: I don't know if anybody else is going through Jack.
- 1:41:33SPEAKER_05: You doing that one?
- 1:41:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I've been doing Tom stuff.
- 1:41:35SPEAKER_03: Uh okay.
- 1:41:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I thought you had.
- 1:41:38SPEAKER_03: I kind of forget that they're challenges because I'm sorry, Tom, I don't look at the chats.
- 1:41:43SPEAKER_05: Oh, but you just stay, yeah, you you stay with Tom straight through, yeah.
- 1:41:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:41:47SPEAKER_05: And I should also, I really should.
- 1:41:49SPEAKER_05: Shame shame on me because Tom goes out of his way to try to help.
- 1:41:54SPEAKER_05: But uh I'll be glad to be back.
- 1:41:55SPEAKER_05: That's a good ex that's a good reason.
- 1:41:57SPEAKER_05: That's a good excuse.
- 1:41:58SPEAKER_05: That's a good time to restart right after uh bird in hand.
- 1:42:02SPEAKER_05: I'm looking forward to that.
- 1:42:03SPEAKER_05: All right, let's take a let's take a look at the races for the week.
- 1:42:06SPEAKER_05: And there are not many, and that's okay with me.
- 1:42:09SPEAKER_05: They'll pick up very soon.
- 1:42:11SPEAKER_05: Uh, we start on Friday in Sebastian, Florida, sunset on the Fairway 5K inaugural running of this evening race.
- 1:42:21SPEAKER_05: Lucy was there on a golf course, hence Sunset on the Fairway.
- 1:42:26SPEAKER_05: They did not release the course in advance, so they were a little concerned that they might actually be running on the grass on the course.
- 1:42:34SPEAKER_05: But as it turns out, the course was on the cart path, so they're fully paved.
- 1:42:39SPEAKER_05: It was hard, of course, hot, of course.
- 1:42:42SPEAKER_05: Two point of 76 even in the evening in Florida.
- 1:42:45SPEAKER_05: Lots of gnats everywhere on this one.
- 1:42:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:42:48SPEAKER_05: Uh but the rest of the course was great.
- 1:42:50SPEAKER_05: Lucy finished in 2132 for a 5k.
- 1:42:54SPEAKER_05: First female.
- 1:42:56SPEAKER_05: Smoke it.
- 1:42:57SPEAKER_05: Great job, Lucy.
- 1:42:58SPEAKER_05: Her reward was a goat statue.
- 1:43:02SPEAKER_05: That's right.
- 1:43:03SPEAKER_05: A G-O-A-T goat statue.
- 1:43:09SPEAKER_05: On Saturday in Dardanelle, Arkansas, the Mount Nebo 10K.
- 1:43:16SPEAKER_05: Ryan, I hope I pronounced both of those correctly.
- 1:43:19SPEAKER_05: I'm not sure.
- 1:43:20SPEAKER_05: Ryan did run that one.
- 1:43:22SPEAKER_05: Didn't hear a report, and I didn't hear from Divi either, who did the Dulles 10K on the runway at Dulles Airport in Chantilly, Virginia.
- 1:43:32SPEAKER_05: I did hear from Mary who ran with her cousin Tom in the Dandelion Days 5K brew run in Muskego, which is in the Milwaukee area in Wisconsin.
- 1:43:47SPEAKER_05: Mary's second race ever and a new PR.
- 1:43:52SPEAKER_05: Now around a two-mile mark, she struck up a conversation with someone who seemed to always be near her with a similar pace and run-walk-run intervals.
- 1:44:02SPEAKER_05: So that's cool.
- 1:44:02SPEAKER_05: They finished together.
- 1:44:04SPEAKER_05: That made for a fun event.
- 1:44:06SPEAKER_05: Congratulations, Mary.
- 1:44:08SPEAKER_05: Out in Seattle, Stephanie did the summer spirit run 10K.
- 1:44:12SPEAKER_05: Fantastic course.
- 1:44:13SPEAKER_05: It's uh around a park along Lake Washington.
- 1:44:19SPEAKER_05: Little Seattle late summer rain showers made the run nice and cool.
- 1:44:24SPEAKER_05: PR by 43 seconds over her last PR, which was set just a month ago.
- 1:44:31SPEAKER_05: Stephanie, you're on a roll.
- 1:44:33SPEAKER_05: Way to go.
- 1:44:34SPEAKER_05: Talked earlier about our friend Lessa.
- 1:44:37SPEAKER_05: She did her 100 5K at the Escape Brushy Mountain Prison 5K in Petros, Tennessee.
- 1:44:48SPEAKER_05: She's now heading to Nashville for the Dolly-inspired 9-5 run.
- 1:44:52SPEAKER_05: Megan was there too.
- 1:44:54SPEAKER_05: Megan ran with her daughter Gracie.
- 1:44:56SPEAKER_05: Gracie's first 5K.
- 1:44:59SPEAKER_05: Brushy Mountain's part of the family history.
- 1:45:03SPEAKER_05: Like so many others in the area.
- 1:45:05SPEAKER_05: Megan's granny was one of the first admins and ended up working there until she retired.
- 1:45:11SPEAKER_05: There's even a document in the museum with her signature and a notary stamp on it.
- 1:45:15SPEAKER_05: How cool is that?
- 1:45:17SPEAKER_05: Now, as for the race, summer training seems to be paying off.
- 1:45:21SPEAKER_05: Hill training too, for that matter.
- 1:45:23SPEAKER_05: Going up the main hill during the race wasn't easy, but it was easier than it's been in the past.
- 1:45:30SPEAKER_05: Way to go, Megan, and congratulations, Gracie.
- 1:45:34SPEAKER_05: Last race on Saturday was the Run for Recovery 5K in Fairmont, West Virginia.
- 1:45:40SPEAKER_05: Rich was there.
- 1:45:41SPEAKER_05: This race was rescheduled from the middle of July due to the smoke that had been coming down from the Canadian wildfires.
- 1:45:48SPEAKER_05: Rich says he wouldn't have been able to do it in July because he was on vacation in Florida.
- 1:45:53SPEAKER_05: But now, despite not having run most of the month of August because he had a little problem with his knee, he ran this one, finished second in the age group.
- 1:46:01SPEAKER_05: Way to go, Rich.
- 1:46:03SPEAKER_05: The big event on Sunday was the Sydney Marathon.
- 1:46:06SPEAKER_05: I'm hoping we'll have some friends join us next week to talk about that.
- 1:46:10SPEAKER_05: Sydney's a tough one with the with the crazy time change and people traveling such a long distance.
- 1:46:16SPEAKER_05: But Lori was there.
- 1:46:18SPEAKER_05: Amanda was there earning her fourth star.
- 1:46:22SPEAKER_05: And Julia was there finishing marathon number 26 and world major number seven.
- 1:46:30SPEAKER_05: Julia says this is by far the most challenging of the major courses because of the constant hills, the cambered roads, lots of out and backs.
- 1:46:39SPEAKER_05: But as with other world majors, wonderful crowd support.
- 1:46:43SPEAKER_05: There's a marvelous finish to this one at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
- 1:46:49SPEAKER_05: Julia finished in four hours, 23 minutes, 10 minutes faster than London.
- 1:46:53SPEAKER_05: Fantastic, fantastic marathon.
- 1:46:56SPEAKER_05: Again, we'll see if some of our friends are available next week to tell us about the marathon in Sydney.
- 1:47:02SPEAKER_05: And finally, friends, let's wrap it up in Annapolis, Maryland.
- 1:47:06SPEAKER_05: For the Annapolis 10 Miler.
- 1:47:10SPEAKER_05: Our friend Jenny ran that one, and she has been kind enough to join us this evening for the Race Report Spotlight.
- 1:47:18SPEAKER_05: Hiya, Jenny.
- 1:47:19SPEAKER_05: Good to see you.
- 1:47:20SPEAKER_01: Hi, thank you so much for having me.
- 1:47:22SPEAKER_05: Oh, we're happy that you're here, as always.
- 1:47:25SPEAKER_09: All right, Jenny.
- 1:47:26SPEAKER_09: We always want to start off the spotlight by getting to know the runner that we have on.
- 1:47:32SPEAKER_09: So why don't you tell us how you first got started running?
- 1:47:35SPEAKER_01: I was in high school.
- 1:47:36SPEAKER_01: My sister is about two and a half years older than me, and she was a cross-country runner, and she got me into running cross-country when I was a freshman in high school.
- 1:47:47SPEAKER_01: And then since then, which was a very long time ago, I've run pretty much the rest of my life, but on and off.
- 1:47:55SPEAKER_01: I wasn't consistently running.
- 1:47:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I have five kids, so I took some time off when I have my children, and then you know, life got busy and all of that.
- 1:48:03SPEAKER_01: And then more recently, um my sister, the same sister who got me into cross-country running, her name is April.
- 1:48:12SPEAKER_01: She introduced me to Run Disney.
- 1:48:15SPEAKER_01: And she was like, You gotta sign up for this race.
- 1:48:17SPEAKER_01: Uh we did Princess, it was uh 2020.
- 1:48:20SPEAKER_01: We did the virtual run in 2022, is when it was still virtual.
- 1:48:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, when it was right, right.
- 1:48:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:48:26SPEAKER_01: And then um we did in-person princess 2023.
- 1:48:30SPEAKER_01: She convinced me to sign up for it.
- 1:48:31SPEAKER_01: So I I started training, you know, for that.
- 1:48:35SPEAKER_01: And then that's actually that was three years ago, and then that's what got me back into running.
- 1:48:40SPEAKER_01: Um, then when I was turning 55, I was like, oh, we were at marathon weekend, I think it was 2024, and I watched, we were spectating the marathon, and I was like, I'll never run a marathon.
- 1:48:55SPEAKER_01: That seems crazy.
- 1:48:57SPEAKER_01: And then I watched the end of the marathon with the the finishers, and I was like, you know what?
- 1:49:02SPEAKER_01: Actually, I think I want to do that.
- 1:49:04SPEAKER_01: So I ran my first marathon uh when I turned 55.
- 1:49:08SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 1:49:09SPEAKER_05: Beautiful.
- 1:49:10SPEAKER_03: I know we love talking about Disney, but you just ran the Annapolis 10 Mile.
- 1:49:14SPEAKER_03: Can you give us some information on that one?
- 1:49:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sure.
- 1:49:18SPEAKER_01: Um so it's a basically a local race for me.
- 1:49:22SPEAKER_01: I live pretty close to Annapolis, and it's put on by the Annapolis Striders.
- 1:49:27SPEAKER_01: It's a running club um in the area.
- 1:49:30SPEAKER_01: And it starts in the Navy uh Memorial Stadium where they play like the Army Navy game is the football field, yeah.
- 1:49:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the football field, exactly.
- 1:49:42SPEAKER_01: Um it doesn't start in the field, but like in the outside of the stadium.
- 1:49:46SPEAKER_01: Um the start and finishes there.
- 1:49:48SPEAKER_01: And then it runs through all of Annapolis, through downtown, like historic Annapolis, over the Navy uh bridge, and it that crosses the Severed River.
- 1:49:59SPEAKER_01: So it has.
- 1:50:00SPEAKER_01: Some really pretty views uh of the river and downtown Annapolis.
- 1:50:04SPEAKER_01: There's a couple of cobblestone roads and stuff that are something to navigate, but uh a lot it's pretty hilly.
- 1:50:11SPEAKER_01: I think there was like 650 feet of elevation gain, but um it wasn't too bad.
- 1:50:17SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like rolling hills, you know, in and out of neighborhoods.
- 1:50:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it was a nice race.
- 1:50:22SPEAKER_01: It was it was good.
- 1:50:23SPEAKER_01: A lot of the midshipmen from the Naval Academy are out there volunteering, handing out water and stuff like that.
- 1:50:29SPEAKER_08: That's cool.
- 1:50:30SPEAKER_08: This race, you did not really well, you ran as a runner, but you ran as a special runner, right?
- 1:50:35SPEAKER_01: I did, yeah.
- 1:50:36SPEAKER_01: I was asked a friend of mine who's uh a physician's assistant.
- 1:50:40SPEAKER_01: I'm a nurse practitioner, and um, I work in the medical field, obviously, as a nurse practitioner.
- 1:50:45SPEAKER_01: And so they were looking for volunteers for people who have a medical uh background to be a medical runner.
- 1:50:53SPEAKER_01: And what that means is that you you run the race, you just run at your own pace, whatever your pace is.
- 1:50:59SPEAKER_01: And they needed people of varying paces because they wanted them dispersed throughout the running field, and you just run the race and they give you a little vest that says medical on the back of it, and you have a pack that you run with that has supplies for um basic first aid.
- 1:51:16SPEAKER_01: They have like gauze and band-aids and a blister kit in there, and then they had uh some gels and smelling salts and like Tylenol, I think, and uh some other stuff.
- 1:51:30SPEAKER_01: And if anyone needs any medical assistance, you know, you're obligated to stop and help them, which I probably would have done anyway, but without supplies.
- 1:51:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, right, right, right.
- 1:51:42SPEAKER_05: You were the mobile medical tent.
- 1:51:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:51:45SPEAKER_01: They did also have medical tents along the way, but um, this was just to have them people more available in case anyone needed help.
- 1:51:52SPEAKER_05: That's interesting.
- 1:51:53SPEAKER_05: Now, was there an occasion where you needed to stop and help somebody in this race?
- 1:51:57SPEAKER_01: There was just one person who asked if I had a gel, which I did have.
- 1:52:03SPEAKER_01: And so I offered, we had a bunch of gels just in case anyone needed fuel.
- 1:52:07SPEAKER_01: And I offered him the gel, but he actually didn't want it because it wasn't the right flavor.
- 1:52:12SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, well, I can't help you.
- 1:52:17SPEAKER_08: You're not a walking bodega or anything.
- 1:52:20SPEAKER_01: Sorry, this is all I have.
- 1:52:22SPEAKER_01: One other person asked me for a safety pin, but I I didn't know.
- 1:52:26SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's interesting.
- 1:52:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, their bib was.
- 1:52:28SPEAKER_05: Bib coming off.
- 1:52:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, okay.
- 1:52:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but too bad.
- 1:52:31SPEAKER_01: Couldn't help them.
- 1:52:33SPEAKER_05: Uh, how'd you train for this race?
- 1:52:35SPEAKER_01: Well, I've been training, I'm doing uh goofy actually and at Marathon Weekend.
- 1:52:40SPEAKER_01: So I've been training for that.
- 1:52:41SPEAKER_01: I've been training for that, and I also had another event that I was training for.
- 1:52:45SPEAKER_01: And um, I have a great coach.
- 1:52:47SPEAKER_01: She's very helpful.
- 1:52:48SPEAKER_01: She's written a training plan for me.
- 1:52:50SPEAKER_01: I've been working for with her for about four months now.
- 1:52:53SPEAKER_01: Um is Alicia.
- 1:52:55SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:52:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's the best.
- 1:52:58SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
- 1:52:58SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, so I've been I was already up to about 10 miles for goofy training, so it actually worked in really well with my training plan.
- 1:53:08SPEAKER_01: So I kind of took it as like a cater training run, basically.
- 1:53:11SPEAKER_05: Very good.
- 1:53:12SPEAKER_05: At least she at least you can owe me for that one, all right.
- 1:53:14SPEAKER_01: All right, sounds good.
- 1:53:18SPEAKER_08: Okay, so you said you're doing goofy this year.
- 1:53:21SPEAKER_08: Anything else coming up?
- 1:53:22SPEAKER_08: Uh coming up next for you on your race schedule?
- 1:53:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, the next race I have on my schedule is Space Coast.
- 1:53:28SPEAKER_01: I'm just doing half there, and then after that, uh Goofy, and then I'll be back in Disney for uh Princess.
- 1:53:37SPEAKER_01: I'm doing the challenge at Princess, and then for Springtime Spreads, I'm doing the 10 Miler.
- 1:53:43SPEAKER_01: So you guys will see a lot of me.
- 1:53:45SPEAKER_05: Did I hear you say for Space Coast, you're just doing the half?
- 1:53:48SPEAKER_05: Is that what you said?
- 1:53:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, just the half.
- 1:53:51SPEAKER_05: That's a that's a Disney term.
- 1:53:54SPEAKER_05: Because yeah, we were talking with uh John Hughes a couple episodes back, and uh he talked about the day that they broke out.
- 1:54:02SPEAKER_05: You know, they used to run the marathon and the half marathon on the same day.
- 1:54:06SPEAKER_05: And then one day I forget what year they broke them out, so one was one day, one was the next.
- 1:54:11SPEAKER_05: Allowing people to do both races and giving birth to the phrase that had probably never been used anywhere before just the marathon.
- 1:54:20SPEAKER_05: So you're doing just the half a space coast.
- 1:54:23SPEAKER_05: Have you done Space Coast before?
- 1:54:25SPEAKER_01: No, I I haven't.
- 1:54:26SPEAKER_01: Uh you're gonna enjoy it.
- 1:54:29SPEAKER_05: It's a it's a lot of fun.
- 1:54:30SPEAKER_05: I've done this will be my seventh year in a row, and uh it's a lot of fun, and you're gonna find a lot of friends there.
- 1:54:35SPEAKER_05: So we look forward to seeing you there.
- 1:54:36SPEAKER_05: Nice.
- 1:54:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, me too.
- 1:54:38SPEAKER_05: Well, Jenny, I I think Annapolis is a beautiful area.
- 1:54:40SPEAKER_05: Sounds like a great run.
- 1:54:42SPEAKER_05: Uh you had a in spite of running as the mobile medical tent, you still had a pretty decent pace time, I believe.
- 1:54:51SPEAKER_05: And uh congratulations to you.
- 1:54:54SPEAKER_05: We look forward to seeing you.
- 1:54:56SPEAKER_05: And you just told us when you oh, I'll see you at Space Coast.
- 1:54:59SPEAKER_05: The rest of us will see you marathon weekend.
- 1:55:01SPEAKER_01: Sounds great.
- 1:55:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, looking forward to it.
- 1:55:03SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:55:05SPEAKER_05: And with that spotlight, we conclude the race report for episode 258 of the Rise and Run podcast.
