- 0:00Speaker 1: How you doing. You look sweaty? Why are you sweaty?
- 0:02Speaker 2: So?
- 0:02Speaker 3: I worked out today right before the right before we
- 0:06Speaker 3: started recording, I jumped on. Like most people in the world,
- 0:09Speaker 3: I bought a Peloton bike, all right.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Well not most people people that can afford an expensive Peloton.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Well, according to the stock market, right, which is failing
- 0:19Speaker 3: right now, Peloton is the one product that is succeeding
- 0:24Speaker 3: in these troubling times.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Well yeah, so yeah, because no one can go to
- 0:28Speaker 1: the gym and it's like a subscription thing, right, So
- 0:30Speaker 1: a bunch.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Of people, a bunch of people that bought Peloton bikes, right,
- 0:34Speaker 3: and I am now riding with you know those people?
- 0:37Speaker 1: How long you go for forty five?
- 0:39Speaker 3: I did a thirty minute class just now. But this
- 0:42Speaker 3: dude kicked my ass. You know, the last time I
- 0:44Speaker 3: did it, I had a you know, I tried to
- 0:47Speaker 3: pick a you know, we talked about this.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I don't have to dance around your words. You tried
- 0:51Speaker 1: to pick a hot chick.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I do have to dance around my words. I am,
- 0:56Speaker 3: I am.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm sure your wife knows that you tried to pick
- 0:59Speaker 1: a hot ship.
- 1:01Speaker 3: She does know. She well she picked it. I kind
- 1:04Speaker 3: of tricked her into picking it, and she was like.
- 1:07Speaker 1: She was like, what do you want, Like, I don't know.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I prefer someone that looks a little bit like.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Her, right, And so I complained after the workout about
- 1:18Speaker 3: how the person talked too much and you know the
- 1:20Speaker 3: stuff you do when you want to deflect, and my
- 1:25Speaker 3: wife was like, well, I'll pick someone for you this time.
- 1:28Speaker 3: So she picked this dude who was like a dude
- 1:32Speaker 3: and was very commanding and everything like that and demanding.
- 1:36Speaker 1: What was that better for you? Was it a better workout?
- 1:39Speaker 3: It was a better workout for me? But then I
- 1:41Speaker 3: started thinking to myself, well, maybe I'm playing this role
- 1:43Speaker 3: wrong in my relationship with my wife. She picked the
- 1:47Speaker 3: dude that's like, now, get on the bike, pedal faster,
- 1:52Speaker 3: God damn it. But maybe that's pedal hard a motherfucker.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Maybe that's what you need.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Maybe I need to swim up my style instead of
- 2:01Speaker 3: being the passive you know gentle, you know sensitive guy,
- 2:05Speaker 3: you know the guy who loves puppy dogs and moonbeams.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Ready to be that motherfucker. Now you know what I'm saying, Well, I.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Think that's probably good for you. I gotta admit I
- 2:16Speaker 1: don't have a peloton bike. But if I got one,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I think I would probably pick the pretty attractive girl
- 2:22Speaker 1: to yell at me.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I'm never gonna pick the pretty attractive girl again.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'm sure there's probably a pretty attractive girl who scream
- 2:28Speaker 1: at you if you want. But what you're saying is
- 2:29Speaker 1: you got better results from the dude who was like, pedal,
- 2:32Speaker 1: mother pucker pedal.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Right now, God damn it, you ain't peddling hard enough.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Right For me, it's all about the music if I
- 2:41Speaker 1: if the music's good. If I like the music, I
- 2:44Speaker 1: go to a spin class and I will go so hard.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But I can't get into it when it's like, when
- 2:49Speaker 1: it's music I don't like. I hate.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I know, I totally understand. I hate. I hate getting
- 2:53Speaker 3: on a bike and having to listen to listen to
- 2:55Speaker 3: something that I'm not in the mood too.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So did the angry guy have good music?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Straight up hip hop?
- 3:00Speaker 1: All it's perfect for you?
- 3:02Speaker 3: You love that it was straight up hip hop and
- 3:04Speaker 3: it was good hip hop too, d MX Little Wayne,
- 3:07Speaker 3: old school little Wayne.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Oh see that's perfect. See. I think I think that's
- 3:10Speaker 1: the key. Obviously. You want someone who's gonna push you
- 3:12Speaker 1: and be like, come on, you wimp. You got this,
- 3:15Speaker 1: but I.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Think I am. You could call me a motherfucker, but
- 3:18Speaker 3: don't call me a wimp, you know what I mean.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Rather be called motherfucker than wimp.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, wow.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I gotta write that down. I'm learning new things about
- 3:26Speaker 1: you on this from.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Here on out, from here on out, if you want to,
- 3:28Speaker 3: if you want me to respond in a way that
- 3:30Speaker 3: it's positive. Hey, motherfucker, what's up?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Do you want to count us into the theme song
- 3:36Speaker 1: as that guy?
- 3:37Speaker 3: All right, here we go. God damnit, y'all get ready
- 3:40Speaker 3: for this? About six seven eight, motherfucker.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Here's some stories about sure. We made about a bunch
- 3:49Speaker 4: of dogs and nurses, and.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I said, here's the stories.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Around here. Yeah, I'm so sorry everyone. I think that
- 4:10Speaker 1: Donald has lost his damn quarantine. Mind tell them what
- 4:15Speaker 1: else you bought for your kids? You you sent me
- 4:19Speaker 1: a video, And first of all, Donald's like, I'm running
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know, he doesn't have a pool at his house.
- 4:23Speaker 1: He's like, I'm running out of things for my kids
- 4:24Speaker 1: to do. They're going crazy. I got this, uh this
- 4:27Speaker 1: water thing from them in the backyard. I pictured a
- 4:29Speaker 1: kiddie pool. You bought like a fucking you bought like
- 4:33Speaker 1: a fucking water park, an inflatable water park.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I bought an inflatable water park, and we set it up,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and I sincerely thought that these kids, like most kids,
- 4:42Speaker 3: were gonna spend the whole day in the water park.
- 4:44Speaker 1: How fast were they over it?
- 4:46Speaker 3: They were over it in forty five minutes. And we
- 4:48Speaker 3: spent so much money on this thing.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Dude.
- 4:51Speaker 3: It is like this morning we were like ready for
- 4:53Speaker 3: the water park and they were like, I'm good.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Describe it to people. It's it's the size of like
- 4:58Speaker 1: three cars.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Know, it's about the size of a nice big ass
- 5:01Speaker 3: pickup truck, like a big like a Ford, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 3: like the big ship, you know what I mean, Right,
- 5:07Speaker 3: And it's huge. And also our backyard isn't grass, it's
- 5:12Speaker 3: fake grass.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Right, that's good.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Your enirement problem is underneath that. It's just hard. And
- 5:21Speaker 3: so it says, you know, you climb up this big
- 5:23Speaker 3: ass ladder about ten feet up and then you slide
- 5:26Speaker 3: down a slide into the pool at the bottom and
- 5:30Speaker 3: they're sliding onto concrete. Now, granted we did worse than
- 5:33Speaker 3: that when we were kids, but to watch my wife
- 5:35Speaker 3: panic and lose her shit, it was the funniest thing
- 5:38Speaker 3: on Like every time the kid climbed up, every time
- 5:40Speaker 3: the kid slid down, she was like, I gotta go inside.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna have a heart attack out here.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And So, did you have a slipping slide when you're
- 5:48Speaker 1: a kid?
- 5:48Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we used to slip and slide on
- 5:51Speaker 3: concrete though, you know what I mean.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Wait in Manhattan, in the city.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, in the city. So I grew up in a
- 5:56Speaker 3: building that had a big ass playground in the middle,
- 5:58Speaker 3: like most buildings in Manhattan when you live in tall buildings,
- 6:03Speaker 3: and they had and and and and you know, if
- 6:05Speaker 3: somebody bought a slipping slide, we'd put it down on
- 6:08Speaker 3: the concrete on the playground.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Us.
- 6:11Speaker 1: That's so dangerous.
- 6:12Speaker 3: If you catch it right, it's fine. But if you
- 6:14Speaker 3: don't catch it right, yeah, you're gonna hit your head
- 6:16Speaker 3: on the I don't.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Remember a slipping slide ever being fun, Like there was
- 6:18Speaker 1: so much fun in setting it up, and then you'd
- 6:21Speaker 1: go down at once and you'd be like, ow.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Wow, Well that depends on it, right. If you don't
- 6:25Speaker 3: know how to slide, it hurts like it hurts.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I wonder if they sell slipping sides, because there's so
- 6:30Speaker 1: be like lawsuits.
- 6:32Speaker 3: They've even padded them now, so a slipping slide is
- 6:34Speaker 3: now padded so that we run and jump and dive,
- 6:37Speaker 3: you can. You got a little bit of.
- 6:38Speaker 1: A kids today, Donald, They need it slipping slides. When
- 6:43Speaker 1: I was a kid, we heard ourselves. I remember setting
- 6:46Speaker 1: it up on the lawn and my stepfather had just
- 6:48Speaker 1: spent a fortune, you know, residing the lawn. And he
- 6:51Speaker 1: came home and he was like, what the hell did
- 6:54Speaker 1: you do? And I was like, where slipping slided? And
- 6:57Speaker 1: he's like, the law is all trashed and money. It
- 7:02Speaker 1: just a fortune reshot it like it looked like beautiful
- 7:05Speaker 1: dream lawn, you know how like you know some people
- 7:08Speaker 1: are about their.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Line similar similar to how you were when my wedding
- 7:11Speaker 3: was over.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you trashed my one lawn, but you know what,
- 7:14Speaker 1: it was all in the name of love. I'll do
- 7:15Speaker 1: anything for you. You and your you and your family
- 7:18Speaker 1: can trash my lawn any day. You put down a
- 7:21Speaker 1: dance floor, yeah not a lawn, no, no, but on
- 7:25Speaker 1: on an area it was a botchy court, but now
- 7:27Speaker 1: it's a garden. But you put down a full I
- 7:29Speaker 1: mean I was, I was shocked with the effort that
- 7:32Speaker 1: when it looked beautiful, and I was for a minute,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I was like, we should keep it. And then people
- 7:36Speaker 1: were like, well, it's not really meant to be permanent.
- 7:38Speaker 1: It's like not like you know, you'd.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Have a greenhouse without any greens in it. Pretty much.
- 7:44Speaker 1: No, I mean, I didn't mean they tinted it because
- 7:46Speaker 1: there was there was gonna rain, but like they put
- 7:48Speaker 1: down this beautiful flooring, okay for your wedding, and I
- 7:51Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, maybe I should keep that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And then as someone told me, like, no, it's it's
- 7:55Speaker 1: meant it's not weatherproof. It's meant to be like you know,
- 7:57Speaker 1: last a weekend. So uh so we we took it down.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But god, your wedding was really beautiful.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I gotta say, well, dude, thank you very much for
- 8:05Speaker 3: helping us out there. Man, you the cost of the
- 8:08Speaker 3: wedding dropped dramatically when you said you could do it
- 8:10Speaker 3: in my backyard.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Well, I was so happy to be able to do
- 8:14Speaker 1: that for you. And it was a beautiful ceremony and
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'll never forget it. It was the way you guys did,
- 8:19Speaker 1: the designer of it, the whoever did all the decor
- 8:22Speaker 1: and everything. It was like almost like a farm, like
- 8:23Speaker 1: a farm vibes, you know, like farm.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Tables, and it was we tried to make it country
- 8:28Speaker 3: meet soul.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah, country meats. So I remember there was a gospel
- 8:32Speaker 1: there was a lot of music. There was a gospel choir.
- 8:34Speaker 1: What did they sing. They sang a song from Sesame Street.
- 8:37Speaker 3: No, they sang a song from the Muppets. Everything is great,
- 8:41Speaker 3: everything is grand. I got the whole wide world in
- 8:45Speaker 3: the palm of my hand. Everything is perfect. It's falling
- 8:50Speaker 3: into place. I can't seem to wipe this smile off
- 8:54Speaker 3: my face. Life's a happy song when there's someone by
- 8:58Speaker 3: my side to sing alone.
- 9:00Speaker 1: That's so beautiful. That's so beautiful. How did you guys
- 9:04Speaker 1: pick that? I mean, I never heard anyone I picked.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I picked that song. So the new Muppet movie had
- 9:10Speaker 3: come out. I guess it had been out, I guess.
- 9:12Speaker 3: But the music from that movie obviously is amazing. It
- 9:14Speaker 3: won an Oscar. But that song is the I believe
- 9:18Speaker 3: it's the first song of the movie, and so it's
- 9:22Speaker 3: the number one number. And Muppet songs are always dope.
- 9:27Speaker 3: The Rainbow Connection, you know, I.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Mean, I had never heard that song. And just just
- 9:31Speaker 1: so people can picture it. I had told all my
- 9:34Speaker 1: neighbors like, we're gonna have a big ass wedding, and
- 9:37Speaker 1: I sent them like little gift baskets, and I sent
- 9:41Speaker 1: them a letter saying, hey, it's gonna be loud. We'll
- 9:44Speaker 1: be done by midnight. You know, I hope everybody's cool,
- 9:47Speaker 1: but I was anxious because you know, my neighborhood is
- 9:51Speaker 1: the sound bounces around, so everyone was. Everyone was coming
- 9:53Speaker 1: to this wedding, whether they wanted to or not. Right,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and and so that's all set up and it's all
- 9:59Speaker 1: quiet and all all of a s and then the
- 10:01Speaker 1: gospel choir comes and it's time for that moment and they.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Turned just me walking out for that, right, so they turned.
- 10:07Speaker 1: But they but they turn on the mics. And I
- 10:11Speaker 1: had never in my mind imagined it was gonna be
- 10:13Speaker 1: this loud. And granted it was beautiful and amazing, but
- 10:16Speaker 1: as the neurotic homeowner, I was like, oh shit, these
- 10:18Speaker 1: people are gonna be so pissed. But maybe they weren't,
- 10:21Speaker 1: because it's amazing. We weren't. I guess there were they acquired.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It was like six people.
- 10:25Speaker 3: I don't know it, six people, but they were.
- 10:27Speaker 1: But anyway, this this amazing gospel group sang that song
- 10:31Speaker 1: and it just it just reverberated. It was beautiful. It
- 10:35Speaker 1: bounced everywhere all over the whole neighborhood, and I was like,
- 10:39Speaker 1: this is I was. I just it was magical. I
- 10:41Speaker 1: got tears in my eyes.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so I got to ask my wife what the
- 10:44Speaker 3: name of the band was, the name of the group was.
- 10:47Speaker 3: But also they when she came down the owl, I
- 10:50Speaker 3: can't sing this song for anything because Beyonce sings it.
- 10:53Speaker 1: But you can sing better than Beyonce.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Don I wish.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Oh my god, you should have seen Joelle's face. Everybody
- 11:01Speaker 1: Joelle made a face like how dare you, sir mind.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Joelle's face was like I will not Joelle's Joel's face
- 11:09Speaker 1: was like, I will not be a part of this podcast.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Yo. It's funny. It's just like the character when Eddie
- 11:23Speaker 3: Murphy makes fun of Stevie one day and the dude
- 11:24Speaker 3: comes up to Stevie wanted to see wanted some musical changes,
- 11:27Speaker 3: Scot Damn Joe.
- 11:30Speaker 1: You can't joke about Beyonce. You cannot. You can't even
- 11:33Speaker 1: say jokingly. Donald Faison sings better than people like Joelle,
- 11:37Speaker 1: like lose their breath.
- 11:38Speaker 3: That's about We lost about seventy five listeners just now alone.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah. People were like, I love the podcast, but Donald
- 11:46Speaker 1: better than Beyonce. Fuck y'all, she's a queen crumbs. Fuck
- 11:52Speaker 1: Donald's is she here, Queen Joelle?
- 11:57Speaker 5: She is Listen.
- 11:58Speaker 6: She has the hottest check out right now.
- 12:00Speaker 3: She just released a new one. Megan Stallion, I believe
- 12:03Speaker 3: the track was dope before Beyonce.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Truly truly elevated it.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Just like that Ed Sharon record got elevated after Beyonce
- 12:11Speaker 3: got on it. Dude, Yeah, no doubt, no doubt. Beyonce.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Beyonce be lacing people. Man, I'm telling you right now,
- 12:19Speaker 3: there are people that have songs and the song will
- 12:21Speaker 3: be really good. And then she sings a Verse on it,
- 12:24Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, the song is a top
- 12:26Speaker 3: five on the Billboard charts. Man, like that Ed Sharon
- 12:28Speaker 3: song was dope, and it was. It was already on
- 12:31Speaker 3: the Billboard charts for a long time, and then she
- 12:33Speaker 3: sang on it and it's and and it broke even
- 12:35Speaker 3: more records thanks to her. Man.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I met her once, you know, so did.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I, and you were like good. I met her once, well,
- 12:41Speaker 3: I met her several times together. Yeah, we were, and
- 12:44Speaker 3: you were like, yo, that's Beyonce. I was like, that's
- 12:45Speaker 3: not Beyonce.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Are you talking about it? At the restaurant bar no
- 12:50Speaker 1: name in Hollywood?
- 12:51Speaker 3: No, no, no Beyonce. Way before that, we went out
- 12:54Speaker 3: one night to a.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Poor h Please respect my father and call her beonce.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I don't, Yes, Beyonce. We went out.
- 13:01Speaker 1: We went something else.
- 13:04Speaker 3: We went out to a Ferrari party or something like that.
- 13:08Speaker 3: You me raiding and Carrie Brothers, and Beyonce was there
- 13:11Speaker 3: with somebody. This is well before Jovah, well before all
- 13:14Speaker 3: of that. This is early on in scrubb. Yeah. Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 3: and uh I remember you guys being like, go say
- 13:21Speaker 3: hi to her, and I was like, get the fuck
- 13:23Speaker 3: out of here. That's Beyonce, dude. And this is before
- 13:25Speaker 3: she even had the solo record or anything like that.
- 13:27Speaker 3: She was still with Destiny's Child. And I was still like, Joe,
- 13:31Speaker 3: I can't. I'm you know what if I say hi?
- 13:34Speaker 3: And she says, get the fuck out of here. And
- 13:36Speaker 3: so finally she looked at me.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Maybe she was single.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Oh dude, Finally she looked at me and she goes
- 13:41Speaker 3: hi and gives me to look like motherfuckers say hi, dude.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Oh shit, We're the only black people at this party.
- 13:49Speaker 1: That was the look. The look was the only black people?
- 13:52Speaker 3: What are you doing? And I was like, oh shit,
- 13:56Speaker 3: my bad, Hey, how you doing?
- 13:59Speaker 7: I don't know that that's funny A long time ago, dude.
- 14:03Speaker 1: So you just said hi, and I just said hi.
- 14:06Speaker 3: And I walked and we walked away. Listen, man, I
- 14:08Speaker 3: played myself to so many of these lovely ladies in
- 14:11Speaker 3: Hollywood that I decided I will never do that again.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Like I played myself. You saw a heart, I went
- 14:17Speaker 3: after Casey. I've done things that are so stupid that
- 14:22Speaker 3: I was like, what was I thinking? When I look
- 14:23Speaker 3: back at it now you know what I mean.
- 14:25Speaker 1: You mean like you should have taken your shot.
- 14:27Speaker 3: No, like I shouldn't have taken a shot at all. Oh,
- 14:30Speaker 3: because I sounded like an idiot. I did take my shot.
- 14:33Speaker 1: We all have those flinch moments where you're like, oh
- 14:35Speaker 1: that was that was right. But I was in a
- 14:38Speaker 1: restaurant bar called No Name that since closed, run by
- 14:42Speaker 1: my friend Brian Ling on Fairfax in Hollywood, and it
- 14:46Speaker 1: was like a cool restaurant bar and upstairs on like
- 14:50Speaker 1: a mezzanine there was a private area where you could
- 14:53Speaker 1: have a private dinner party or you could have a
- 14:54Speaker 1: small cocktail party. And if you went past that room,
- 14:59Speaker 1: there was a another room. So we were headed to
- 15:01Speaker 1: that room, he and I and somebody else and I
- 15:03Speaker 1: cam up the stairs and I come around the corner
- 15:05Speaker 1: and they are just seated alone at this private table
- 15:09Speaker 1: was Beyonce and jay Z. And they looked up and
- 15:12Speaker 1: they stared at me, and I stared back at them,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and they had big smiles in their faces, like saying hi.
- 15:18Speaker 1: But I was like, I was in pol of shocked.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I really was.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I froze, That's that's royalty man. They got that. They
- 15:23Speaker 3: got that glow man, they got that Bruce Lebroyd.
- 15:25Speaker 1: But it was also like you come, you come around
- 15:27Speaker 1: to bend and you're not expecting to see like there's
- 15:29Speaker 1: no one else in the room. I mean, it was
- 15:30Speaker 1: just Beyonce and jay Z having private dinner. And I
- 15:33Speaker 1: was like, and I just walked in like hi. Of course,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I said, oh, I said, I'm so sorry interrupt I
- 15:38Speaker 1: got high. And they were like, hey, how are you?
- 15:40Speaker 1: And I said, I'm good. Uh, you guys are awesome.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna keep moving.
- 15:47Speaker 5: You know.
- 15:47Speaker 1: They were very sweet. They obviously smiled and laughed at
- 15:50Speaker 1: me because I was like a nervous wreck.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I've played myself so many times with jay Z, it's ridiculous, Like,
- 15:55Speaker 3: come on in. Like there's certain people on my list
- 15:58Speaker 3: of people that I think, think, are you know the shiz?
- 16:02Speaker 3: And he's one of them. Him, Michael Jordan, you know,
- 16:04Speaker 3: Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford.
- 16:07Speaker 1: You know Billy D.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Billy D Williams. When it comes to athletes, I have
- 16:12Speaker 3: a lot of athletes on my list, but not I
- 16:14Speaker 3: don't have a lot of rappers on my list where
- 16:15Speaker 3: I see them and I'm like, holy shit. I used
- 16:18Speaker 3: to be like that, but then I grew out of
- 16:19Speaker 3: that face.
- 16:19Speaker 1: If there's one athlete you could meet and not just me,
- 16:22Speaker 1: if there's one athlete that would be like Donald, let's
- 16:24Speaker 1: go get a drink. I want to get to know
- 16:26Speaker 1: you better.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Who would it be, oh Man, Well, he's no longer
- 16:29Speaker 3: with us, But that's Kobe Bryant. That's an easy one.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I met Michael Jordan once and that was cool, and
- 16:34Speaker 3: I met Kobe several times. But there was something special
- 16:37Speaker 3: about Kobe Bryant. That was like, you know, I mean,
- 16:41Speaker 3: and Michael Jordan too. But you know, when I first
- 16:46Speaker 3: moved out to La, Kobe Bryant was just getting you know,
- 16:50Speaker 3: he just arrived and I got to meet him way
- 16:53Speaker 3: before he played basketball and stuff.
- 16:55Speaker 1: And wait, even before he played basketball.
- 16:58Speaker 3: So La is a small town, react like it's a
- 17:01Speaker 3: huge Hollywood is huge and stuff like that. But you
- 17:03Speaker 3: run into people in La. And one of my friends
- 17:08Speaker 3: was not dating Shaea Brian, but was hanging out with
- 17:11Speaker 3: Shaa Brian. And so Shaea would come over to my
- 17:14Speaker 3: apartment like all the time, and we would you know,
- 17:16Speaker 3: hang out and you know, go to the movies or
- 17:19Speaker 3: go to Magic Mountain stuff like that. And one day
- 17:22Speaker 3: she comes over. We're going to Magic Mountain and she
- 17:24Speaker 3: comes over and she's like, Yo, my brother's outside. He
- 17:27Speaker 3: wants to talk to you. And I was like, oh shit,
- 17:30Speaker 3: why does your brother want to talk to me?
- 17:31Speaker 1: But he wasn't famous yet.
- 17:33Speaker 3: No, everybody kneho Kobe Bryan was. At this point, he
- 17:35Speaker 3: had taken Brandy to the prom, you know what I mean,
- 17:39Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh man, oh wow, okay. So I
- 17:43Speaker 3: go outside and he had broken his arm playing basketball
- 17:47Speaker 3: at the beach at Venice Beach, at the courts on
- 17:49Speaker 3: Venice Beach, right, So he had the cast on. I
- 17:52Speaker 3: remember when he broke his arm. I remember thinking, come on, man,
- 17:56Speaker 3: you've got this contract coming up. What are you doing
- 17:58Speaker 3: playing basketball at Venice Beach. That was what my thought was.
- 18:02Speaker 3: When I saw him with the cast I was like, oh, ship,
- 18:05Speaker 3: he got the cast on. Yo, Like it was.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Heard about it.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I heard about it, but I was like, yo,
- 18:12Speaker 3: he got.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Did you think he was gonna let you sign it?
- 18:17Speaker 3: No? No, no, but but I did. But I definitely thought.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I was like, this dude's about to tell me, you know,
- 18:23Speaker 3: I better respect his sister and all of that stuff.
- 18:26Speaker 3: And there was nothing going on with me and his sister.
- 18:28Speaker 3: So I go outside and he's like, hey, man, how
- 18:30Speaker 3: you doing. I just wanted to meet you. You know
- 18:32Speaker 3: you're going to Magic Mim with my sister. I just
- 18:34Speaker 3: wanted to meet you to make sure you know that
- 18:37Speaker 3: was looking for for a sister, right, that's cool story. Yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 3: But I ran into him several times after that. But
- 18:45Speaker 3: I just when I first moved to l A, Kobe
- 18:47Speaker 3: Bryant was in l A also.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It's so tragic. I keep it's like, it's unbelievable.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I just want you all to know, man, I loved
- 18:56Speaker 3: Kobe Bryant like I loved Kobe Bryant. I named my
- 18:59Speaker 3: kid Kobe.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I know, I know, and just you know, God, I
- 19:03Speaker 1: see the love. There's all these amazing murals all over town.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I'm sure you've seen him. Yeah, he was one of
- 19:08Speaker 1: the most beloved people in the country, probably the world,
- 19:11Speaker 1: maybe world. So we switched tones the end of the episode.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Let's do it. We you know, this is an episode
- 19:18Speaker 3: with It was directed by Mark Bucklin, written by Mark Stegman.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah two Marks, two Marks, uh my blind Gate.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Yes. Mark Stegman is a great writer, great friend.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, guy, I believe you went to write on
- 19:33Speaker 1: Community after US and some other shows and Mark Bucklin.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I really think Mark Bucklin, I'm going to say it
- 19:41Speaker 1: now in nine years one of by far one of
- 19:44Speaker 1: our top directors.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's easy.
- 19:47Speaker 1: This episode is is not to not to say as
- 19:50Speaker 1: a director, but as a director, this episode is incredibly.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Directed, well well well directed that it really makes up
- 19:57Speaker 3: that I know we're going to get to it.
- 19:58Speaker 1: But yeah, a that's a really cool ononer. For those
- 20:01Speaker 1: of you who don't know what a wonner is. It's
- 20:02Speaker 1: when the camera never cuts so there's no edit. It's
- 20:05Speaker 1: a long one shot that moves around and involves lots
- 20:09Speaker 1: of choreography, and it often takes a lot of times
- 20:11Speaker 1: to get it right, and it's just done really well.
- 20:16Speaker 3: But this episode is amazing.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I really want to say. You know, the thing about
- 20:19Speaker 1: TV directing is these guys and gals who do this.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You come in, you have to execute your vision, but
- 20:27Speaker 1: in the tone of the style that's been established by
- 20:31Speaker 1: the showrunner and by whoever directed the pilot. In this case,
- 20:34Speaker 1: Adam Bernstein, the showrunner and the pilot director was sort
- 20:37Speaker 1: of set. This is the look of this show. It
- 20:40Speaker 1: has this vibe. The camera can move like this. This
- 20:43Speaker 1: this is the sort of tools you can use, and
- 20:45Speaker 1: that now you go do it. So for a director
- 20:47Speaker 1: to stand out, it's it's tricky. You got how you
- 20:51Speaker 1: can put your own stamp on it, because otherwise it's
- 20:53Speaker 1: just kind of like, Okay, I'm here to execute someone
- 20:55Speaker 1: else's someone else's vision. But someone like Mark Bucklin with
- 20:59Speaker 1: his level of talent, really does stand out. I was
- 21:02Speaker 1: watching this before I even knew that it was Mark.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I was watching going, Oh, someone good directed this. I
- 21:07Speaker 1: can tell already. There's just a he finds a way
- 21:10Speaker 1: to put his own stamp on it, and I looked
- 21:13Speaker 1: it up because I haven't seen markinears. Also a really
- 21:15Speaker 1: good card magician, if you remember that, Donald.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Yeah, also a very great ping pong player.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember that. But during downtime he would do
- 21:22Speaker 1: these insane card tricks. He was one of those guys.
- 21:24Speaker 1: He's he's doing a show called He produces and directs
- 21:26Speaker 1: a show called Stumptown.
- 21:27Speaker 3: With great show.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Do you watch it?
- 21:29Speaker 3: It's on the ABC lineup with the new ABC lineup.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Kobe Kobe smolders, Yeah, yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 3: As you know, I do a television show for ABC
- 21:40Speaker 3: called Emergence.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Emergence, Yes, And when are we finding out if we're
- 21:43Speaker 1: getting a season two?
- 21:44Speaker 3: We have no idea. I don't even know if Stumptown
- 21:46Speaker 3: knows if they're getting a season two yet or if
- 21:49Speaker 3: or and if they do, then probably we didn't get it.
- 21:52Speaker 1: But all I know when, when when does ABC tell
- 21:56Speaker 1: you that? I tell you.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Things are different right now, man, life is different right now.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Nothing is the same. I'm supposed to find out. We
- 22:03Speaker 3: were supposed to find like Upfronts is the fourteenth or
- 22:05Speaker 3: something like that, so we should be finding out soon.
- 22:08Speaker 1: But I don't know will you be doling out drunken
- 22:10Speaker 1: noogies at this year's upfronts.
- 22:12Speaker 3: I've learned my lesson. I did. I Yo, you know what,
- 22:14Speaker 3: last year, I did crash the NBC Upfront. I did
- 22:17Speaker 3: crash that and that was a lot of fun to
- 22:20Speaker 3: do anyway.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Mark Bucklin also, just to finish my Mark Bucklin research,
- 22:25Speaker 1: won an Emmy for directing the pilot of My Name
- 22:28Speaker 1: is Earl oh Nice. Yeah. So he's a very talented fellow,
- 22:31Speaker 1: very very very tin and I just wanted to say
- 22:33Speaker 1: that that I really notice how good he is. So
- 22:37Speaker 1: this episode has a lot of good stuff in it. Man,
- 22:40Speaker 1: this is a good one.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Mm hmm. This was a great one. I laughed aloud.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I laughed out loud, none none harder than Kelso. When
- 22:47Speaker 3: Kelso go she goes doctor Kelso, I'm not going to
- 22:50Speaker 3: sue the hospital, and he goes oh and then just
- 22:53Speaker 3: walks out.
- 22:54Speaker 1: He just leaves. Elizabeth Bogush was a guest star. Didn't
- 22:59Speaker 1: arc really talented gal and she this was JD's first
- 23:05Speaker 1: first love interest.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I was gonna say that, and I was just.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Going through the rest of season one. I think she's
- 23:10Speaker 1: the only I could be wrong, so sorry if you
- 23:12Speaker 1: know better than I do, but she's the only lovengerest
- 23:14Speaker 1: before Sarah and I start a relationship. Really, really, Joel,
- 23:20Speaker 1: isn't that what happens? Uh?
- 23:22Speaker 3: I'm not aware. I haven't gone forward.
- 23:24Speaker 1: What Joel might know or she can look it up.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But I think what happens is there's three episodes with
- 23:29Speaker 1: Liz Bogish and then uh, and then Elliott and I
- 23:33Speaker 1: start our our thing. I think that's what. Okay, good see,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I was right, Donald. I did my research. I did
- 23:39Speaker 1: a lot of research for this episode. I want the
- 23:42Speaker 1: fans to know I did. I got trivia. Do you
- 23:45Speaker 1: want to know the trivia?
- 23:46Speaker 3: Right?
- 23:46Speaker 1: To start off? The right? Off the bat?
- 23:47Speaker 3: It's a good one, go for yours.
- 23:49Speaker 1: So so, so Cox is trying to get his perfect game?
- 23:53Speaker 3: All right, I gotta ask you a question before you
- 23:55Speaker 3: do the trivia?
- 23:55Speaker 1: Then?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Did you know what the perfect game was before we
- 23:58Speaker 3: started doing it? Before the show?
- 24:00Speaker 1: I know what a perfect picture game is. Yeah, I
- 24:02Speaker 1: know it's happened. My brother's My brother is a baseball fanatic.
- 24:05Speaker 1: My father was a baseball fanatic, so I know some things.
- 24:08Speaker 3: So and you don't talk to the picture while.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Now that I didn't know, and I wanted to talk
- 24:11Speaker 1: to you about that, because first of all, how the
- 24:13Speaker 1: fuck does JD know that? I mean, JD doesn't know
- 24:15Speaker 1: anything about sports. We hammer home in every episode, and
- 24:17Speaker 1: all of a sudden, JD's whispering like you know stuff
- 24:21Speaker 1: about never you know that you don't talk to the
- 24:23Speaker 1: picture during a game, So tell me about this real quick.
- 24:26Speaker 1: This is a thing. If the picture's doing really well
- 24:28Speaker 1: in a game, you don't talk to him like in
- 24:30Speaker 1: the in the in the dugout.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Them, Yeah, you don't. You leave him alone. You don't
- 24:34Speaker 3: say anything to him and let.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Him You don't even give him a butt tap.
- 24:38Speaker 3: No, you don't say. Look, you don't want to be
- 24:40Speaker 3: the reason that his rhythm all of a sudden falls off.
- 24:42Speaker 1: But what if I'm throwing a perfect game and I'm like,
- 24:44Speaker 1: holy shit in my head, I'm like I'm fucking killing this.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And then I go into the dugout and I get
- 24:48Speaker 1: no butt taps and I'm like, oh, why are they
- 24:51Speaker 1: tapping my butt? And then I start and then I
- 24:53Speaker 1: start spiraling, no butt taps. I'm gonna fuck it.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Up now and then, and it'd be your fault that
- 25:00Speaker 3: you fucked it up, not their fault, because so they
- 25:02Speaker 3: did they tap you on the button, you'll and then
- 25:04Speaker 3: you don't have a perfect game.
- 25:06Speaker 1: You could be like, motherfucker, why do you tap me
- 25:08Speaker 1: on the bicee? So, so that's the thing. You just
- 25:11Speaker 1: ic him. You don't talk to him.
- 25:13Speaker 3: You let that person do what they gotta do to
- 25:15Speaker 3: get that.
- 25:16Speaker 1: See that I didn't know that. I didn't know, And
- 25:18Speaker 1: I find it hilarious that JD didn't know.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Because hilarious.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Why did even Joel wrote that down in her note,
- 25:24Speaker 1: She's like, how the hell does JD know all this
- 25:26Speaker 1: stuff about? All right, here's a little trivia for you.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Ready, Okay, let's do it.
- 25:31Speaker 1: There's twenty seven patients that in the ICU that doctor
- 25:36Speaker 1: Cox is trying to keep alive through midnight. Do you
- 25:39Speaker 1: know why twenty seven?
- 25:42Speaker 3: I don't.
- 25:42Speaker 1: There's twenty seven outs in nine innings.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Holy shit, Mark, ladies and gentlemen, slow clap, slow clap,
- 25:52Speaker 3: clap for Zach Braff.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Why I didn't? It's not my trivia. I got enough
- 25:56Speaker 1: scrubs wiki, but but don't know if I don't know
- 26:00Speaker 1: if Mark Stegman gets that.
- 26:02Speaker 5: But J.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Way to go JD way to go, Zach, I didn't.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't figure that out. I read that,
- 26:12Speaker 1: So don't be too proud of me. I don't even
- 26:15Speaker 1: know if that's what we give Mark Stegman credit for that.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Let's ask Bill. That's a good Bill question. Bill, you're
- 26:19Speaker 1: not gonna remember, and he's Bill's gonna be like, that
- 26:21Speaker 1: was me. That was me now. But Bill, it's very
- 26:23Speaker 1: clever that there's twenty seven patients and there's twenty seven
- 26:26Speaker 1: ounce in nine innings. Who came up with that?
- 26:28Speaker 8: Twenty seven outs on a ball game to save in
- 26:30Speaker 8: twenty seven patients. It came around because the episode started
- 26:35Speaker 8: with doctor Cox wanting to have a perfect game, you know,
- 26:37Speaker 8: and a perfect game in baseball, Zach, which is a sport,
- 26:41Speaker 8: is not only does no one get a hit, but
- 26:45Speaker 8: nobody even gets a walk or gets on base with
- 26:48Speaker 8: an air So it's not just a no hitter, it's
- 26:50Speaker 8: a perfect game. You only face twenty seven batters.
- 26:54Speaker 3: That's it, all right. So Death's back, played by the
- 26:58Speaker 3: wonderful Randa Winston.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Death is back by Randall Winston. Now, I don't
- 27:02Speaker 1: mean to take a dig at Randall.
- 27:04Speaker 3: But listen, man, I love Randold of Death, but with
- 27:08Speaker 3: all my heart, Now, I don't think if Randall.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Was auditioning he would have gotten this role because Death
- 27:13Speaker 1: isn't the best you guys. I love Randal to death,
- 27:19Speaker 1: but if dead, if SAG actors had auditioned for this part,
- 27:23Speaker 1: we probably could have gotten a better fucking performance.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Oh that's horrible that you say that, dude.
- 27:28Speaker 1: No, I'm sorry.
- 27:29Speaker 3: But for those of you who don't know, Randall Winston
- 27:32Speaker 3: is uh the line producer on Scrub was the line
- 27:35Speaker 3: producer at the time on Scrubs. He's since gone on
- 27:38Speaker 3: to be an executive producer on Kill Directs. Now, he's
- 27:45Speaker 3: very He's a very very established UH producer slash director
- 27:49Speaker 3: in on television right now. Also, he married my wife
- 27:54Speaker 3: and I in uh Zach's backyard. He was the.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I forgot you were married by death?
- 28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, married by death in your backyard. Randa Winston is
- 28:05Speaker 3: one of my all time favorite people. So don't you Death.
- 28:09Speaker 3: It's like it's like Joel and Beyonce. Don't you Death.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Say I'm bad you made a face like Joelle made listen.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I just want to say I love the guy to death.
- 28:18Speaker 1: He's an extremely talented producer. I don't know that acting
- 28:22Speaker 1: is necessarily his forte but boy, but listen. Uh, Death
- 28:28Speaker 1: talks to his daughter. I don't know that any in
- 28:30Speaker 1: any art form I've ever seen Death's daughter. But there
- 28:35Speaker 1: she is. She's in a girl scout outfit, trying to
- 28:38Speaker 1: sell her her cookies.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Right, well, that's why Death's occupied. He's selling cookies. It's
- 28:43Speaker 3: pretty funny to try to help knock the cox out.
- 28:46Speaker 1: He's a Death says something like she's in second place,
- 28:49Speaker 1: and if the first place girl keeps winning, we're just
- 28:52Speaker 1: gonna take her.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Take her.
- 28:59Speaker 1: In the ICU, where there's a lot of the scene
- 29:01Speaker 1: takes place, there's a lot of amazing camera work. At
- 29:03Speaker 1: one sixteen, there's a cool three sixty pan. It's always
- 29:07Speaker 1: challenging for the cinematographer and filmmakers to light when there's
- 29:11Speaker 1: no place to put the lights and when the camera
- 29:14Speaker 1: is steady camming. For those of you who don't know what
- 29:16Speaker 1: that is, it's I think we've mentioned it before. It's
- 29:18Speaker 1: it's this rig that mounts on a steady cam operator's
- 29:21Speaker 1: body and it allows him or her to move around
- 29:24Speaker 1: and it gives it and they can run and do
- 29:26Speaker 1: all these cool shots and the camera always looks like
- 29:28Speaker 1: it's floating. A lot of Scrubs was shot on a
- 29:30Speaker 1: steadycam because of all the quick walking and running around,
- 29:34Speaker 1: and sorry to digress, our steady cam operator has a
- 29:39Speaker 1: cameo in this episode. Did you recognize Charles Pappert.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Dom Where was pepperd at?
- 29:43Speaker 5: Oh?
- 29:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he was the guy on the MRI.
- 29:45Speaker 1: He's the MRI tag when the MRI goes awry and
- 29:49Speaker 1: you see a guy freaking out by the way, speaking
- 29:51Speaker 1: of people who aren't actors giving a decent performance, I
- 29:53Speaker 1: thought Charles did a wonderful job.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you know Charles Pappard. Every time I run into
- 29:58Speaker 3: Charles Pappert, Yes, every time I run into him. He's
- 30:02Speaker 3: like he'll introduce me to the people on his in
- 30:06Speaker 3: his camera crew, and he'll be like, tell him the song,
- 30:09Speaker 3: and I'll be like, what, like, sing them the song?
- 30:12Speaker 3: They I've told everybody about the song. I was like,
- 30:14Speaker 3: are you fucking serious? Right now? He's like, sing them
- 30:17Speaker 3: the song.
- 30:17Speaker 1: It's the Transformer's melody, But I don't remember the words.
- 30:20Speaker 3: You remember the words? Charles Pappard all balls and no shaft.
- 30:27Speaker 1: All balls and no shaft. Yeah. I love that he's
- 30:35Speaker 1: I like the show. I love that he's begging you
- 30:38Speaker 1: to sing a song to his friends about how he's
- 30:40Speaker 1: all balls and no shafts.
- 30:42Speaker 3: All balls, no shaft. He begs me to It's like
- 30:45Speaker 3: he says to them, So Donald Faison's coming in the day.
- 30:48Speaker 3: He has a special song about me.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I want to say that what's funny about that song
- 30:52Speaker 1: is that it's the Transformer's melody but and sung very
- 30:56Speaker 1: softly like a ballad. But it's it's but it's all
- 30:59Speaker 1: balls and no chef. Anyway. Charles Pappert was our steady
- 31:09Speaker 1: cam operator and he uh plays the MRI I tech
- 31:13Speaker 1: and I thought he did a wonderful job.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I thought he does an amazing job. In the episode
- 31:17Speaker 3: he also was amazing. He's an amazing steady cam and
- 31:20Speaker 3: normal cam operator. I've worked with him several times since then.
- 31:23Speaker 1: And maybe he's had some you know, a surgery to
- 31:26Speaker 1: adjust his last.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Justice his situation. He uh, he.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Didn't get like a shaft extender. Is that a thing?
- 31:34Speaker 3: I once asked Real j D about that. I was like, yo,
- 31:37Speaker 3: so what is this about? This penis enlarging stuff.
- 31:40Speaker 1: You don't need that. Why the hell are you asking
- 31:42Speaker 1: about that?
- 31:43Speaker 3: Listen, man, everybody wants to be Do.
- 31:46Speaker 1: You remember in the in the episode of Bahamas. Do
- 31:48Speaker 1: you remember in the episode of Bahamas when I when
- 31:50Speaker 1: I thought I saw an eel?
- 31:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was my It was me. I'll not know.
- 31:55Speaker 1: We're gonna go and break while you guys think about
- 31:56Speaker 1: Donald's eel, and we're back speaking of your eel. My
- 32:08Speaker 1: girlfriend's mom was facetiming me about this about our podcast
- 32:12Speaker 1: because she listens, and she was like, I really like it,
- 32:14Speaker 1: but you guys talk about your willies too much. And
- 32:21Speaker 1: as we began to talk about your eel, I was
- 32:23Speaker 1: I was hearing my girlfriend's mom talking telling us that
- 32:26Speaker 1: we talk about our willies too much. So sorry to
- 32:29Speaker 1: the people of the United Kingdom.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I don't like to talking about WHOA. I don't like
- 32:34Speaker 3: talking about my.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Willie Colonel doctor at two forty nine. I just got
- 32:38Speaker 1: excited to see him, Snoop Dogg Interurn. A lot of
- 32:41Speaker 1: the greats are in this episode.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Yes, Lynn's in the episode. A lot of people.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Lynn Deontay once again, Deontay Deontay worked a lot. Yeah,
- 32:53Speaker 1: well Deontay was Denner. What they would do. What they
- 32:55Speaker 1: would do is sometimes when they needed more background performers
- 32:59Speaker 1: than they had, they would ask the stand ins to
- 33:01Speaker 1: to put on a costume and and join the scene.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I think that's what happens.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Well, yeah, not just that. Also, the stand ins are
- 33:08Speaker 3: you know, they're all good actors on their own, you
- 33:11Speaker 3: know what I mean. You give Deontay a line, he
- 33:13Speaker 3: he'll deliberate.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Well, not everyone, but Deontay was someone who was a
- 33:16Speaker 1: good actor, right, and so, but my point is is
- 33:19Speaker 1: that I think usually this the standings weren't dressed in costume.
- 33:23Speaker 1: So often when you see them, my brain goes, oh,
- 33:27Speaker 1: they wanted a couple more bodies, so they asked them
- 33:29Speaker 1: to suit up, right.
- 33:30Speaker 3: But they're always prominently featured if you noticed.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Well, of course, because they're not.
- 33:34Speaker 3: They're not.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Dante's not fucking around. He knows where the camera is, right,
- 33:36Speaker 1: he knows what he's doing. He knows what he's doing,
- 33:39Speaker 1: the saying Deonta's first rodeo. He knows where that camera
- 33:41Speaker 1: is going to be. He's like, He's like, if I'm
- 33:43Speaker 1: gonna put on these scrubs, you're gonna see.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Me right right, right, all right.
- 33:47Speaker 1: So at four oh two, there's this long monologue with
- 33:51Speaker 1: Johnny c. By the way, Johnny CE is incredible in
- 33:53Speaker 1: this episode crushes.
- 33:55Speaker 3: I've learned that I you know, I didn't appreciate it
- 33:58Speaker 3: when it was there, you know what I mean. There
- 33:59Speaker 3: was so many lessons to be learned just from watching Johnny,
- 34:02Speaker 3: just from watching Judy, just from watching Ken. And you know,
- 34:05Speaker 3: you want to get the fuck out of there at
- 34:07Speaker 3: a certain point in time, you know what I mean.
- 34:09Speaker 3: And I look back at this stuff now and Johnny
- 34:11Speaker 3: crushes sud. He's very funny. You know.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I agree with you Donald, watching even just watching the
- 34:16Speaker 1: however many we've watched twelve At this point, I'm really
- 34:20Speaker 1: taken by what a good actor Johnny McGinley is. He's
- 34:25Speaker 1: just he's fantastic, and this episode really highlights so good
- 34:28Speaker 1: he's And Sarah is wonderful in this episode.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, it's amazing.
- 34:31Speaker 1: It do you find it's weird? I always find it
- 34:34Speaker 1: weird in a TV show when they reference another TV show.
- 34:38Speaker 1: So here here we reference I referenced er, for of
- 34:41Speaker 1: all things, another hospital TV show.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I think we were trying to be funny.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Uh no, I know, but I just think it. I
- 34:48Speaker 1: always think it's weird when you when JD Me playing
- 34:52Speaker 1: a fake doctor on television then references another doctor show.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I just think I just pulls me out of the show.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It's I find it weird.
- 35:00Speaker 3: See. But the problem is is that in er Anthony
- 35:04Speaker 3: Edwards was still kind of he still kind of looked
- 35:07Speaker 3: like uh the character he played in Top Gun, you
- 35:11Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 35:11Speaker 1: No, he didn't. He was more bookish and academic.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Kind of sort of.
- 35:15Speaker 1: But he's still good on Anthony Edwards Revenge of.
- 35:20Speaker 3: The Nerds that you're like, holy shit, that's the dude
- 35:22Speaker 3: from Revenge of the Nerds.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Anthony. Anthony Edwards has had such a career. Can we
- 35:28Speaker 1: just talk about him for a second.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Get it?
- 35:29Speaker 1: That is that is the right name, right, Anthony Edwards. Absolutely,
- 35:32Speaker 1: what's the name of the black guy named Anthony.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Edwards and you're thinking of Anthony Anderson more?
- 35:37Speaker 1: Sorry? Sorry, sorry, they're very similar Anthony Edward. By the way,
- 35:45Speaker 1: I love that you knew what I was talking about.
- 35:46Speaker 1: That's how close we are. Baby. Anthony Edwards has spanned
- 35:51Speaker 1: Revenge of the Nerds to Top Gun, yes, and then
- 35:55Speaker 1: back to er and and and poon other things. I'm sure,
- 35:59Speaker 1: but those are the things I most think of him for.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got ranged.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Now are we not allowed to like Revenge the Nerds anymore?
- 36:05Speaker 1: I know that it has a very problematic movie, but man,
- 36:07Speaker 1: as a child, that was life changing for me in
- 36:09Speaker 1: that movie. I went with a babysitter to see that
- 36:12Speaker 1: movie in the theater and it was, Oh, I think
- 36:16Speaker 1: I was nineteen eighty four.
- 36:17Speaker 3: I was probably did your babysitter get kicked out?
- 36:20Speaker 1: Listen? I think it was I was nine. I think
- 36:22Speaker 1: I can't believe I got to go see this movie
- 36:24Speaker 1: with a babysitter.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Was your babysitter? Fire?
- 36:26Speaker 1: Was it nineteen eighty four? Joelle? Can you look that
- 36:28Speaker 1: up please? I remember went to see and I had
- 36:30Speaker 1: a crush on her, a nine year old crush. And
- 36:33Speaker 1: then I see this movie that's obviously are and I
- 36:35Speaker 1: can't believe I was seeing this. And then at the
- 36:38Speaker 1: end I was so riled up. I was so turned on,
- 36:42Speaker 1: if you will, by the movie, and I thought, I yes, thanks,
- 36:46Speaker 1: she says nineteen eighty four. I in my mind, I
- 36:49Speaker 1: thought like, oh, I'm going to try and impress my date.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I just started thinking of her like she was my date.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And we went into like a CVS type you know,
- 36:59Speaker 1: pharmacy giant, you know, one of those big ones, and
- 37:02Speaker 1: I forgot someone my sister probably wanted to buy something.
- 37:05Speaker 1: And I was like in an aisle and I was like,
- 37:08Speaker 1: what can I what can I act like I want
- 37:10Speaker 1: to buy that's gonna seem impressive to my babysitter. And
- 37:14Speaker 1: we were in like I was like, I went in
- 37:16Speaker 1: like the hardware aisle because that felt masculine and uh,
- 37:20Speaker 1: and I saw this this battery, you remember, one of
- 37:23Speaker 1: those big chunky batter not a car battery, but like
- 37:25Speaker 1: for like a lantern. It was like this bit like
- 37:27Speaker 1: you know, like like you know, this is a lantern
- 37:30Speaker 1: battery basically, and I and I remember looking at it
- 37:33Speaker 1: and then I saw my periphery. She was coming down
- 37:35Speaker 1: the aisle and she's like, what are you doing in
- 37:37Speaker 1: this aisle? And I was like, see this and I
- 37:40Speaker 1: pointed to the battery and she goes, yeah, I go,
- 37:44Speaker 1: this is what I want for my birthday. Because in
- 37:51Speaker 1: my mind I thought she would be like, whoa.
- 37:54Speaker 3: This kid, this kid is deserves to see my book.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Ye, this kid is fucking manly. I know he's nine,
- 38:03Speaker 1: but if he's into battery, he's like this big I
- 38:15Speaker 1: I really thought. I remember this many years later. I
- 38:18Speaker 1: remember thinking, like, just act like you want this fucking battery.
- 38:22Speaker 1: But that's what that's the nerds did to me. All right,
- 38:30Speaker 1: let's move on the French five fight. Talk about this, John,
- 38:32Speaker 1: Because you're married, you probably have this fight with your wife.
- 38:34Speaker 3: I believe in this fight, and I believe in Turk
- 38:37Speaker 3: side of this fight too. And you know, at the
- 38:39Speaker 3: end of the show it goes someplace different. But absolutely,
- 38:42Speaker 3: if I if we go to get burgers at McDonald's
- 38:46Speaker 3: and I get a combo meal and I ask you
- 38:49Speaker 3: what you want and you say, I'll just have a burger.
- 38:53Speaker 3: You're not eating my fries. Goddamn it, right, those are
- 38:56Speaker 3: my fries.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Does this happen all the time? It sounds like you
- 38:58Speaker 1: got riled up just now. It's this. Does this happen
- 39:00Speaker 1: in your home?
- 39:01Speaker 3: I got riled up because of this dude that was
- 39:04Speaker 3: teaching me how to ride the bike today.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you've taken on his persona. You are you
- 39:12Speaker 1: are as an actor, you were like a sponge and
- 39:14Speaker 1: you've taken on his persona I am.
- 39:16Speaker 3: I am, I am the bike riding instructor.
- 39:20Speaker 1: From this average Do you remember do you remember his name?
- 39:23Speaker 5: No?
- 39:23Speaker 3: I don't remember his name. God Devin, I'm just him
- 39:25Speaker 3: right now.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Okay, calm down, Calm down. He's probably howdyway smoothie on
- 39:29Speaker 1: a on a couch right now, and you're.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Somewhere drinking orange gourgu He's.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Probably it's probably in a steam room with other dudes.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Anyway. But no, this is sincere and this happens all
- 39:41Speaker 3: the time, and I I used to hate this when
- 39:44Speaker 3: but then this is also when I knew, Holy cow,
- 39:46Speaker 3: I love my wife. We would go and get food
- 39:49Speaker 3: from someplace like Astro Burger or McDonald's or something like
- 39:54Speaker 3: something quick and fast and greasy and everything after a
- 39:57Speaker 3: night out of partying in the club and be like
- 40:00Speaker 3: do you want anything? And she'll be like, no, I'm
- 40:02Speaker 3: not really that hungry. In my mind, I knew exactly
- 40:06Speaker 3: what that meant. That meant she's gonna eat my.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Shit, right, So would you order extra fur?
- 40:11Speaker 5: No?
- 40:12Speaker 3: Well, at first you don't realize that, and then when
- 40:14Speaker 3: it when it gets to where Turk and Carla are,
- 40:17Speaker 3: it's when you start testing it and you're like, I'm
- 40:19Speaker 3: gonna test and see if when I say, do you
- 40:22Speaker 3: want anything and she says no, I'm good. I bet
- 40:25Speaker 3: you she's gonna grab my fries. Watch. That's what's gonna
- 40:27Speaker 3: it's gonna happen. It's gonna happen. And when it happened,
- 40:30Speaker 3: you're like I knew it, and you and you and
- 40:32Speaker 3: you explode. And that's what happened with Turk. Turk was
- 40:36Speaker 3: online with Carla at the cafeteria and he's getting all
- 40:40Speaker 3: of his food and she's looking at him, and in
- 40:43Speaker 3: his mind, he's like, she's gonna want this stuff. She's
- 40:45Speaker 3: gonna want it.
- 40:46Speaker 1: It does feel like an example of not sweating the
- 40:48Speaker 1: small stuff, though, doesn't it.
- 40:50Speaker 3: But that's not the small stuff. Come on, man, that's
- 40:52Speaker 3: not no, that's not the small stuff.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Harley Pasternak, who we both know, very fancy celebrity trainer,
- 40:59Speaker 1: he he told me that. I think it was him
- 41:01Speaker 1: who told me that French fries is the worst thing
- 41:04Speaker 1: you can put in your body.
- 41:06Speaker 3: He once told me pizza was the worst thing you
- 41:08Speaker 3: could put in your body. So I don't know. I
- 41:10Speaker 3: think that was him just trying to get you to
- 41:11Speaker 3: stop eating French fries.
- 41:12Speaker 1: And he also told me something I'll never forget that
- 41:15Speaker 1: He calls a banana a sugar stick. He's like, you
- 41:19Speaker 1: might as well have a candy bar. Banana is just sugar. Really, Yeah,
- 41:24Speaker 1: I love a banana Harley. Celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak ruined
- 41:29Speaker 1: bananas for me. I still eleep bananas. I like them
- 41:32Speaker 1: in my smoothie. But he told me that they have
- 41:34Speaker 1: even though it's natural sugar, it's filled with sugar. But
- 41:37Speaker 1: he also said French fries are the worst thing you
- 41:39Speaker 1: can put in your body because it's just saturated fat.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but he also told me pizza was the worst
- 41:43Speaker 3: thing you could put in your body.
- 41:44Speaker 1: He got you in good shape once. And you played
- 41:45Speaker 1: basketball with yeasy right?
- 41:48Speaker 3: I have played basketball with con Yeezy.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Was it at Harley's house?
- 41:52Speaker 3: I gave Yeezy and Common to business. They know what's up.
- 41:55Speaker 3: They know what's up. Don't act like y'all don't know.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure Yeezy's listening. Listen. Did you play it?
- 42:00Speaker 1: Did you play it?
- 42:02Speaker 5: Right?
- 42:02Speaker 3: He's somewhere in Wyoming?
- 42:04Speaker 1: Do you Did you play it at Harley's house? Did
- 42:07Speaker 1: you play at Harley's house?
- 42:09Speaker 3: I know we would go and play at like a gym.
- 42:12Speaker 3: We would go to a gym, he would run out
- 42:14Speaker 3: of gym and me him.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Because that's the only time I ever when I was
- 42:18Speaker 1: working out with Harley, That's the only time I ever
- 42:19Speaker 1: met Kanye. It was before he became, you know, enormous.
- 42:22Speaker 3: He was still a huge Kanye has been Kanye.
- 42:24Speaker 1: No, I know, but I didn't. He wasn't the household
- 42:26Speaker 1: name at this time.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Yeah, he was making that music since back in it.
- 42:30Speaker 1: And I used to get on the treadmill next to
- 42:32Speaker 1: Rick Fox Donald, Who's.
- 42:34Speaker 3: I played basketball with Rick Fox before too?
- 42:37Speaker 1: Really?
- 42:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I played basketball with a lot of people.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I know you're fancy, all right. Listen, A drunk clown
- 42:43Speaker 1: hurt me once, laughed.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Out, laughed out loud, laughed out loud.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I don't know if I made that up or not.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I would like to take credit for it.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Okay, let's ask Bill.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Bill's not gonna remember, and if so, he's definitely not
- 42:53Speaker 1: gonna give me credit. But Joel, please ask him who
- 42:56Speaker 1: made up a drunk clown hurt me once? And make
- 42:57Speaker 1: sure to put in parentheses. Zach believes it might be his.
- 43:02Speaker 1: He's gonna come back with the sassiest answer, and here
- 43:04Speaker 1: it is. A drunk clown hurt Me once?
- 43:06Speaker 8: Was Zach Braff improv He came up with that, and
- 43:10Speaker 8: I remember watching it happen and I remember taking credit
- 43:13Speaker 8: for it afterwards.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Thank you Bill. Well, we haven't heard Bill's answer, but
- 43:17Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say, thank you Bill. I agree, No,
- 43:22Speaker 1: thank you Bill.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I don't know that you're going to agree with that.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I might not agree. I might not agree. A drunk
- 43:27Speaker 1: cloud hurt me once is very funny. I gotta say
- 43:30Speaker 1: I left out loud about that because God knows what
- 43:31Speaker 1: that story is.
- 43:34Speaker 3: And how you found out the clown was drunk?
- 43:36Speaker 1: Is I love. I love these JD things that never
- 43:38Speaker 1: get explored, like these long you know, there's times like
- 43:42Speaker 1: there's this random sentences that you know we could have
- 43:44Speaker 1: gone into a fantasy, but we never do. I love
- 43:47Speaker 1: those rare moments.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Like yeah, like I got treated by a Kayu.
- 43:53Speaker 1: That is probably my favorite episode and you know why
- 43:56Speaker 1: because you directed it. It's the first one I directed.
- 43:58Speaker 1: But also not just say because I directed it. That
- 44:01Speaker 1: is a fucking epic great episode.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Oh that's a great episode.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Do you know what season that is? Oh? My god?
- 44:06Speaker 3: That episode shows up. I know what it happens.
- 44:10Speaker 1: I got Joe, will you please look up for me
- 44:12Speaker 1: what episode that is. It's the first one I directed.
- 44:14Speaker 1: I don't even have no idea what it's called. Heather
- 44:16Speaker 1: Graham's in it, but Donald, I got treed by a kyo.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that one. And then I'm starting to see why,
- 44:23Speaker 3: uh what did he say his name was? I'm starting
- 44:26Speaker 3: to see why leon Il foxed you.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I don't remember that.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Jason Bateman, I like to make I like to make
- 44:33Speaker 3: belts out of it.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Oh, and Jason Bateman says, I like to make belts
- 44:36Speaker 1: out of their necks. I mean, how stoned were they
- 44:39Speaker 1: must have been in the writer's room when they came
- 44:41Speaker 1: up with an idea that the ostriches are are are sentries? Right?
- 44:46Speaker 3: Yeah? Right? No there So in Jason.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Bateman's character's home, he has ostriches, but they they not
- 44:53Speaker 1: only work as guards, but they stole your kango right
- 44:57Speaker 1: and put it on right.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Oh that's leon very funny episode.
- 45:04Speaker 1: All right, we're back to this one.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Michael McDonald is back.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Michael McDonald's back.
- 45:09Speaker 3: That was right away. He was just on we should
- 45:12Speaker 3: have him on.
- 45:13Speaker 1: And he's paying the same guy. I think, Joelle, you
- 45:15Speaker 1: may have thought he was playing multiple characters.
- 45:18Speaker 3: He's always definitely playing the same guy.
- 45:20Speaker 1: He plays a hypochondriac who's always I.
- 45:22Speaker 6: Believe unless the family he's wrong that he plays different
- 45:26Speaker 6: characters in a later season.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Okay, well, we don't know. Maybe the fans will tell
- 45:31Speaker 1: us on the social media's, but I believe that he's
- 45:34Speaker 1: always playing a hypochondriac. The episode, thank you Joelle for
- 45:37Speaker 1: finding this that Donald and I were talking about, was
- 45:39Speaker 1: is season four, episode eight, My Last Chance. It's probably
- 45:44Speaker 1: my favorite episode of the whole one of my top
- 45:47Speaker 1: three of the whole run. Granted it was my first
- 45:49Speaker 1: time directing and that was special. But also Bill, because
- 45:52Speaker 1: he's so fucking competitive, decided to write an episode that
- 45:55Speaker 1: should have been shot in like ten days, and because
- 45:59Speaker 1: it was epic, we called it Scrubs the movie. If
- 46:01Speaker 1: you recall, it's the one where Donald and I have
- 46:04Speaker 1: a permission slip from Elliott that allows JD to sleep
- 46:07Speaker 1: with Heather Graham's character and we go on an epic
- 46:10Speaker 1: night long quest to find Molly to give her the
- 46:13Speaker 1: permission slip.
- 46:15Speaker 3: I have a question for you. When you were making
- 46:17Speaker 3: this episode, did you realize when you were making it
- 46:20Speaker 3: how big of an episode it was for you to
- 46:23Speaker 3: have to execute.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yes, I knew, I knew it. Bill. Bill's a big
- 46:28Speaker 1: brother to us both, and it's always been competitive with me,
- 46:31Speaker 1: like we don't play sports. So the competition came in
- 46:34Speaker 1: like in other ways. So it came in like, Okay,
- 46:36Speaker 1: it was after garden State and he's like, garden State
- 46:38Speaker 1: was a success, and he's like, okay, you can direct.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Here's the script. And it was like the most epic
- 46:44Speaker 1: impossible thing. You know. We shot an episode of Scrubs
- 46:47Speaker 1: traditionally in five days and you had to write them
- 46:50Speaker 1: so they were they were executable in five days. And
- 46:53Speaker 1: this was you remember Donald, We were like, oh, we
- 46:55Speaker 1: were on the Universal back lot. There was an ambulance
- 46:58Speaker 1: chase with an accident. It was huge, and I just
- 47:01Speaker 1: remember being like, oh my god, he's totally testing if
- 47:04Speaker 1: I can pull this off. And I did, and I did.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I think it's I mean, we were ziplining across the
- 47:09Speaker 1: Universal backlock.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Let's save it for that episode.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I know. Sorry you got me talking about because I
- 47:13Speaker 1: really love that episode.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Okay, so now we're at this awesome one.
- 47:17Speaker 1: No, you're going too fast. I want to talk about Sammy,
- 47:19Speaker 1: the legendary Sammy Lloyd has some good stuff in this episode.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, okay, yeah.
- 47:24Speaker 1: At five oh nine, Sammy Lloyd comes in and uh,
- 47:27Speaker 1: I remember now because he's covered in the sweat. Yeah,
- 47:29Speaker 1: right before, right before it takes they would sweat Sam
- 47:33Speaker 1: up so he would totally look like he was always
- 47:35Speaker 1: on the verge of a panic attack. Yes, yes, and
- 47:38Speaker 1: and and Kelso goes to him, tell him Todd. He goes,
- 47:41Speaker 1: it's ted ted, but it's ted even it's only been
- 47:44Speaker 1: twelve years. And then at five twenty seven, he'd laughed
- 47:48Speaker 1: when he goes and then if this, if that happens,
- 47:50Speaker 1: the higher ups heads are going to roll. And then
- 47:52Speaker 1: he starts laughing. Yeah, very funny. Yeah, yeah, Sam has
- 47:57Speaker 1: some funny shit later later on in the.
- 47:59Speaker 3: MRI room run away with Me.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Yeah, he was running away with it. And then before
- 48:05Speaker 1: that way I wrote down something. It was so funny.
- 48:07Speaker 1: He says, Since my wife left me, I find it
- 48:09Speaker 1: hard to see past the evil, right, something about like
- 48:16Speaker 1: I can't date women since my wife left me, I
- 48:18Speaker 1: find it hard to see past the evil.
- 48:21Speaker 3: Now he finds love again. He finds love on the
- 48:23Speaker 3: show later.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Too, right, yeah, with Mazuci, Right with the gouch. Yeah,
- 48:28Speaker 1: the gooch played by Kate mccuchi, who's a very talented
- 48:32Speaker 1: gal and plays the and sings really well and plays
- 48:35Speaker 1: the ukulele very well. Yes, so Donald Liz bogush I.
- 48:41Speaker 1: She did a great job. Of course, that's her voice.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Imagine getting apart good things. She knew she had two
- 48:45Speaker 1: more episodes coming up, because imagine getting a part in
- 48:47Speaker 1: me like, hey, we're never going to see your face,
- 48:49Speaker 1: and I had forgotten at the end of the episode,
- 48:52Speaker 1: they were clever enough to not even reveal her.
- 48:53Speaker 3: That was cool, right, and you had to wait until
- 48:55Speaker 3: the next episode.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Right, But it wasn't even like to be continued. It
- 48:59Speaker 1: was like some of the audience might have been like, oh,
- 49:01Speaker 1: we never see her.
- 49:02Speaker 3: You know, right. Well, that's that's also very interesting because
- 49:05Speaker 3: this is so at some point during the season the
- 49:10Speaker 3: show does start to connect where it becomes a serial, right,
- 49:14Speaker 3: where it becomes uh, is that the right way to
- 49:16Speaker 3: put it?
- 49:17Speaker 1: Where yeah, when when they're when they're yeah, when they're
- 49:19Speaker 1: going in.
- 49:19Speaker 3: Every episode is connected to and then it breaks apart again.
- 49:24Speaker 3: I always like the fact that you could tune into Scrubs,
- 49:26Speaker 3: and no matter what episode you catch it on, it's
- 49:28Speaker 3: like you you.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Know, yeah, you can watch it out of order, as
- 49:31Speaker 1: I'm sure they aired it on syndication out of order,
- 49:33Speaker 1: I imagine.
- 49:34Speaker 3: But but this specific, these specific two episodes.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Well people would also you know, yeah, and certain actors
- 49:40Speaker 1: would do arcs. You know, they do three, you know,
- 49:43Speaker 1: I think Liz did three. All right, but come on,
- 49:46Speaker 1: first of all, why can't JD just bend down and
- 49:49Speaker 1: look into the damn machine.
- 49:50Speaker 3: I don't know, man, I don't. That's you know, I'm
- 49:54Speaker 3: if if you're worried about that, If you're worried about that,
- 49:56Speaker 3: you're not really watching the show.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I know, Donald, But I'm telling you they nationalized it
- 50:00Speaker 1: a little bit. You can tell the writers were wrestling
- 50:02Speaker 1: with this because they were like, oh, no, she's hurt herself.
- 50:04Speaker 1: We can't move her. Otherwise it was like, oh, come on, girl,
- 50:06Speaker 1: just climb out of the fucking time.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Right, just.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Or if you're that worried, slide a backboard in there
- 50:13Speaker 1: and help some dude slide her out, I mean, get
- 50:15Speaker 1: her out. But but it is very clever. But I
- 50:17Speaker 1: just want to say that, Uh, the device was a
- 50:19Speaker 1: little like come on, buddy, just just just peek in there.
- 50:22Speaker 4: JD.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Right, Well, she's just see what you would just see
- 50:25Speaker 3: nostrils and forehead.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Well, first of all, if you've ever if you ever
- 50:28Speaker 1: had an MRI, I and I have, you're deep in that.
- 50:30Speaker 1: You're deep in that thing.
- 50:31Speaker 3: All the way in there, You're all.
- 50:32Speaker 1: The way in. Yeah, I don't know what the hell
- 50:35Speaker 1: kind of MRI Liz Bogers was getting.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Yeah, just ahead, I guess. But even when it's just
- 50:41Speaker 3: a head, you're all the way in. You want to
- 50:43Speaker 3: take a break, Yeah, we should cut the commercial. They'll
- 50:45Speaker 3: be here two minutes. So let's you know what we
- 50:46Speaker 3: should do.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Give me a break, Give me a break. I'm not
- 50:51Speaker 1: gonna save the brand. And we're back with Donald Bezon.
- 51:05Speaker 3: And Zach Braff talking about this awesome wonner. Finally, I've
- 51:10Speaker 3: been dying to talk about this for the entire episode.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so this this woner shot that starts at six
- 51:16Speaker 1: fifty six. It goes for a full minute. It's very
- 51:19Speaker 1: cleverly choreographed. And and here's Jackie, Hi, Hi, Jackie, jack
- 51:28Speaker 1: Jackie Jackie's phone.
- 51:33Speaker 5: I was going to use HI, I was gonna use
- 51:35Speaker 5: my computer. But at the very old computer and it
- 51:38Speaker 5: just wasn't working at all.
- 51:40Speaker 1: No worries where just clad You're here. Welcome to fake doctors,
- 51:45Speaker 1: real friends.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, Please welcome Jackie.
- 51:51Speaker 6: Jack is here to surprise someone.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Oh another surprise, Joelle, You are just making people's months.
- 51:57Speaker 3: I needed to pick me up and Jack did it.
- 52:00Speaker 3: What is the birthday play?
- 52:01Speaker 1: So Jackie, what's the story here?
- 52:03Speaker 5: So at the end of this month is my boyfriend's
- 52:06Speaker 5: thirtieth birthday, and I've been trying to forge out when
- 52:10Speaker 5: I wanted to give him, and he has no idea
- 52:13Speaker 5: what he wants. So I thought this would be a
- 52:15Speaker 5: really nice surprise because we both are huge fans and
- 52:19Speaker 5: we just finished we watched watching it for the millions time.
- 52:22Speaker 5: We watched it once a year together.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Oh, thank you so much. That's that's really cool. Donald,
- 52:27Speaker 1: we got to this is a this is a thirtieth birthday. President.
- 52:30Speaker 1: We gotta like, do you want to straighten your shirt
- 52:31Speaker 1: or something? Do you want to change your shirt? Because
- 52:36Speaker 1: what's his name? Jackie?
- 52:37Speaker 5: Sean?
- 52:38Speaker 1: Sean? All right, Sean? You know'll be funny if you
- 52:41Speaker 1: tell Donald and I something about Sean that we they
- 52:44Speaker 1: we couldn't possibly know, and we'll throw it out there
- 52:47Speaker 1: during the conversation.
- 52:51Speaker 5: He is a very big D and D person.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Okay, okay, Donald, Donald, Donald can tap into that.
- 52:58Speaker 5: Yes, he is a very big Dungeons and Dragons person.
- 53:02Speaker 5: We actually are in a campaign. No, he does not,
- 53:05Speaker 5: he does not DM, not yet. He's this I'm in
- 53:09Speaker 5: my very first game with him right now.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Okay, how do you ingratulations? I guess sorry play? Have
- 53:15Speaker 3: you played Dungeons and Dragons before or is this your
- 53:18Speaker 3: first time?
- 53:18Speaker 2: This is?
- 53:19Speaker 1: And are you liking it?
- 53:21Speaker 5: I am like you, and we're having it to do
- 53:22Speaker 5: remotely unfortunately because of the pandemic going on, but it's
- 53:26Speaker 5: still really fun.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I would imagine a lot of D and D folks
- 53:29Speaker 1: are doing this online these days.
- 53:31Speaker 5: Right, yeah, they are.
- 53:33Speaker 1: You can probably get games yet, Can we get into
- 53:35Speaker 1: a game, Donald, because you like it? Right?
- 53:38Speaker 3: I do? I just it depends on what their rules are,
- 53:40Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Certain rules are? I don't know. Man,
- 53:43Speaker 3: you play? You know, I grew up playing Dungeons and
- 53:45Speaker 3: Dragons and so you kind of get used to your
- 53:48Speaker 3: DM and then you go and play in somebody else's
- 53:50Speaker 3: world and you're like, this is nothing like how I
- 53:52Speaker 3: remember playing it now.
- 53:54Speaker 1: It can take a very long time, right, we don't
- 53:55Speaker 1: have that much. Can we can we do a campaign?
- 53:57Speaker 1: Can we do a short campaign? Are you able to
- 53:59Speaker 1: do a short a campaign?
- 54:01Speaker 5: It's possible. Yes.
- 54:03Speaker 3: How long is the campaign that you're on right now?
- 54:04Speaker 3: How long have you been doing it for?
- 54:06Speaker 5: We have been doing it, I want to say for
- 54:08Speaker 5: about a month. In campaign, we meet up once a
- 54:13Speaker 5: week and we'll play for about four hours.
- 54:15Speaker 3: So you guys play like short hours. You don't really
- 54:18Speaker 3: do the eight hour, nine hour D and.
- 54:21Speaker 5: D unfortunately not because some of them, like my boyfriend
- 54:25Speaker 5: has to go in the work in the morning, right,
- 54:28Speaker 5: So we used to.
- 54:29Speaker 3: That used to be the jam, playing D and D
- 54:32Speaker 3: until the sun came up, and then sleeping all day
- 54:34Speaker 3: and then getting back together that night and playing D
- 54:36Speaker 3: and D again.
- 54:37Speaker 5: Oh he has had campaigns like that.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Yeah, we used to love that. And I grew up
- 54:43Speaker 3: in the inner city, so I used to play D
- 54:44Speaker 3: and D with a bunch of drug dealers. It's hilarious.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Why did you end up in a D and D
- 54:50Speaker 1: with drug dealers?
- 54:51Speaker 3: Because I grew up with a bunch of drug dealers
- 54:52Speaker 3: as friends, dude, That's why so.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Would they have to Would they have to pause the
- 54:56Speaker 1: campaign to deal drugs?
- 54:58Speaker 3: No, no, no, no no no no no no no.
- 55:00Speaker 3: But it would just be funny because you know, it's
- 55:03Speaker 3: funny listening to your boy two ki rolling dice, Like,
- 55:07Speaker 3: so I pull out my you know, I'd reach into
- 55:09Speaker 3: my bag a holding, then pull out my sword plus
- 55:11Speaker 3: five swing. Wow. You know, rolling dice turns into something
- 55:16Speaker 3: completely different when you're in the hood. Yo, it's something
- 55:19Speaker 3: completely different, yo. And then you know what I mean,
- 55:22Speaker 3: you roll a twenty side dice. This is the dope
- 55:24Speaker 3: thing about twenty side dice. You could either do a
- 55:26Speaker 3: twenty side dice or you could do a ten sided
- 55:28Speaker 3: and a six sided I think at the same time.
- 55:30Speaker 3: And that's the same thing, right, And so you roll,
- 55:33Speaker 3: and it's like rolling dice. You like blowing on the shit,
- 55:37Speaker 3: hitting it off the feet, off the dogs, yo. On
- 55:40Speaker 3: the table. You got rules. If it goes off the
- 55:43Speaker 3: if it goes off the board, it doesn't count. Then
- 55:46Speaker 3: you get particular about it. Like let's say it does
- 55:48Speaker 3: go off the board, but you roll a natural twenty,
- 55:50Speaker 3: which is a critical hit in the game that my
- 55:52Speaker 3: buddy would DM, and it rolled off the board. You'd
- 55:56Speaker 3: fight five hours, like, yo, just please let this stand.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Let this be. I love playing D and D well.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Maybe maybe Sean will let us into his game.
- 56:08Speaker 3: He would, You'll bring that up. We'll bring that up
- 56:12Speaker 3: in the conversation, like kind of crazy.
- 56:14Speaker 5: I made him hide in our bedroom.
- 56:16Speaker 1: What does he think's gonna happen? Does? Does he have
- 56:18Speaker 1: any idea what's about to happen?
- 56:19Speaker 5: He's like, Yo, she's I guess it, but not really.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I hope we're the best of his guesses.
- 56:25Speaker 3: What if I doubt it? He's gonna be like you
- 56:29Speaker 3: mean this this?
- 56:30Speaker 1: He's like, what the hell is bullshit? I thought I
- 56:32Speaker 1: was getting a new D and D dog. Ready.
- 56:35Speaker 5: I need to sit next to you.
- 56:38Speaker 1: You gotta put the earphone in his ear. I'm sorry
- 56:43Speaker 1: to direct you.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Happy birthday.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Happy birthday to your happy birthday.
- 56:55Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Happy birthday too, Happy birthday to happy birthday?
- 57:05Speaker 1: Hi, Sean?
- 57:07Speaker 3: Is Sean's birthday?
- 57:10Speaker 1: All right?
- 57:10Speaker 3: You can stop miss turned third day?
- 57:13Speaker 1: Donald? Let the man speak.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Jackie hooked it up.
- 57:18Speaker 1: You got a good girlfriend.
- 57:21Speaker 3: He hasing real friends. You're doing?
- 57:26Speaker 8: Man?
- 57:27Speaker 1: Happy Happy birthday?
- 57:29Speaker 3: Is this a surprise you expected?
- 57:30Speaker 1: We want to make sure that we're better than the
- 57:32Speaker 1: surprise you were expecting.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Well, I did make a guess earlier.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Was it was it us? Yeah?
- 57:38Speaker 2: It was you? But it was like out of the world, like, yeah, sure,
- 57:42Speaker 2: I bet what maybe you did this? I thought I
- 57:44Speaker 2: had like a friend coming over or something, but this is, uh,
- 57:48Speaker 2: this is.
- 57:50Speaker 3: A friend coming over during quarantine. That's what you wanted?
- 57:53Speaker 1: Yes, no, Sean, no.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Friends on maybe a masked friend.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I don't all right, right, hey man, Well, thank you
- 58:00Speaker 1: for for liking our show and for being fans of us.
- 58:03Speaker 1: We we we really appreciate it. And it's so it's
- 58:06Speaker 1: so one of the cool things about this podcast is
- 58:08Speaker 1: we get to randomly meet fans and and uh and
- 58:12Speaker 1: it's it's so it's much fun for us to be
- 58:14Speaker 1: able to see your face and talk to you.
- 58:16Speaker 3: Absolutely, It's like it's like when we played D and
- 58:18Speaker 3: D and.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Yeah, we wish you were into D and D because
- 58:21Speaker 1: we were gonna invite you into our game, but we
- 58:22Speaker 1: we hear you're not into it.
- 58:26Speaker 3: No, it's just like when we play right, and it's like,
- 58:32Speaker 3: you know, you're going up against God.
- 58:35Speaker 1: I grew up, I grew up playing I grew up
- 58:37Speaker 1: playing I grew up playing with I grew up playing
- 58:39Speaker 1: with with drug dealers in my in my hometown. I
- 58:46Speaker 1: was gonna take I was gonna take your whole story
- 58:47Speaker 1: and make the mind and impress Sean. Yeah, there's two key.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Yeah. So so tell us about yourself, Sean. We want
- 59:01Speaker 1: to get to know you briefly. We have you. Oh,
- 59:04Speaker 1: where do you guys live?
- 59:06Speaker 2: We live in Morgantown, West Virginia.
- 59:09Speaker 3: Virginia, in the house right right right, West Virginia.
- 59:15Speaker 1: What do you guys do for a living?
- 59:17Speaker 2: I'm a pharmacy technician.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Nice Currently I work at Alta Beauty as a prestige
- 59:25Speaker 5: beauty price. They're sorry put makeup on people for a
- 59:28Speaker 5: living right.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Now, but you're not able to do that, I imagine
- 59:31Speaker 1: right now, or maybe you guys are open. I don't know.
- 59:33Speaker 5: We are open just for curbs I pick up, so
- 59:36Speaker 5: only my managers are currently working. I have been home
- 59:39Speaker 5: for the past month and a half.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Okay, you're not going to be able to go to
- 59:42Speaker 1: the curb and put makeup on someone in the car,
- 59:45Speaker 1: unfortunately not.
- 59:47Speaker 3: When and when you are reopen, I imagine it's going
- 59:50Speaker 3: to be masks and gloves as you.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, Now, Sean, have you still been working because
- 59:56Speaker 1: pharmacies are obviously open? Yeah?
- 59:58Speaker 2: Yeah, still nothing every day?
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so no time to play Dungeons and Dragons?
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Then, yeah, how are you able to do your campaign?
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: You know, she was telling you We've been doing We've
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: been doing like Skyper, Google hangouts, and there's a lot
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: of online sources to use.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: You're in three campaigns right now.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I'm playing three different games.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Well, what kind of character you do you have? Like
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I had a I had a cleric in one, and
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: then I had a monk and another like my my,
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: my brother. At one point, the DM got funky in
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: the game we were playing and he got to play
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: a ogre magi, which was so sick.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, can the DM? Can the DM make
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: up any rules he or she wants?
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's their world, yep.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: There. Yeah, I'm currently playing a a Goliath fighter in one.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: I'm playing a uh halfling road in another, and a
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: half elf draconic sorcerer in the third one.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Nice do you guys have dark elves and with elves
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: and all of that stuff? And oh yeah yeah, it's
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: so such a fun game man.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Oh man, Yeah, it's uh it's a lot of fun.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: I've made a lot of friends through it, and uh
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: that's cool.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: And so now that it's all online, does that make
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: it easier for you or is it just as fun
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: or do you prefer to be in person like around
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: a table.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: I prefer to be in person table. It's just, you know,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: it's just some of the games have yeah, maybe six
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: seven people in it, so it's kind of a big
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: group to do online, a lot of screens to go through.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: It's just easier to do in person. But it's still
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: you know, it's still scratches that itch and people get
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: really passionate about it, right.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: I say, do you talk shit when you play? Are
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: you one of those people that's like, yeah, I'm about
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: to crack this motherfucker upside? Wow Sean.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Sean doesn't seem like they like he would say something
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Donald, Okay, not so much. Maybe I should.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Do you guys ever get heated? Do you guys ever
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: get heated and get in fights? Like I should have?
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: That should have worked that role.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Yeah, there's been some uh, there's been some friendly conflict
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: in some games, But yeah, do.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: You guys have a question, Oh yeah, we forgot that
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: you're supposed ask a question, Sean. You can ask us anything, Sean.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: You can ask you know how on Reddit they have
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Ama ask me anything. This is your own personal birthday,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Donald Fason, Zach braf Ama.
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: Oh my gosh. It could be anything.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: It can be about anything. Donald. You can even ask
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Donald a very private question and he'll answer it.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: I'll make it, don't blow it, Sean.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: I was ready.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Okay, Well, well, Jackie, maybe while he thinks, do you
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: have a question to help him.
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: Out, I've had a question because we we've discussed while
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: we listen to your podcast, like if you're ever on here,
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: what we want to ask? Yeah, while we're watching Scrubs.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: So I assume you'll have seen that the last season,
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: season nine was not the best season.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I don't know what you're talking.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: We don't even know there is a nine. I didn't
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: know there was a season nine. What are you talking, Jackie.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: The first rule of season nine is there is no season.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Don't talk about it.
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Well, they make it a season nine on Hulu. So
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: I was kind of just wondering, like, you're just your
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: own feelings on season nine. In general, I thought.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Season nine had some very funny moments. You know, I
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: was going through a lot during season nine, Like I
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: got new teeth while we were doing season nine, So
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: there are a couple of episodes where my teeth.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Are like, I didn't know your teeth didn't come till
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: season nine until.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's when I started. That's when I changed it up, yo,
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: and got these big ass pearlies. Anyway, there's some really
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: funny performances in season nine. Dave Franco makes me laugh,
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: you know, in season nine and outside of the show.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: I have great memories of season nine. I also have
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: really bad memories of season nine. I knew it was over,
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: and I knew it we weren't necessarily making the show
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: that the fans wanted.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: But did you miss me?
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Well, you were in a lot of the episode.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I was only in the first six.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: We only did thirteen.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Well did you miss me for the seven?
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: I missed you so much. I missed you so much.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: But the point is, I, you know, I didn't mind
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: season nine. Granted I've never really watched any of the
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: episodes of Scrubs anyway, so it all kind of seems.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: It all felt like we were still doing our job.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: But it was weird too. It was weird for multiple reasons. One,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I was leaving and that was in the air. Also
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: also eight seasons had been shot, as I'm sure you
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: may know from just us talking about it in the past,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: in this abandoned hospital, and then for season nine we
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: moved to a traditional studio backlot and all, and so
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: they built that fake hospital on a stage and the
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: classroom stuff was all on a stage, and it felt
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: weird to me. It felt like jump the sharky a bit,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: if you will.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: If you're gonna jump a shark, you might as well
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: do it season nine.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Though you know, well we did. I mean, you know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: we were so blessed we went nine seasons, but it
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: just felt I don't know, I felt weird about it,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: and I to this day, it's gonna be funny if
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: we keep going and decide to make it disease and nine.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: It's gonna be really funny for me because I've never
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: seen them, so I will be watching them for the
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: very first time. But I know, Dave Franco was so funny.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: And I like to say I discovered Carrie Bouchet because
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I put her in a pilot and then Bill saw
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the pilot, and yeah, and I thought, I think carry
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: a Northwestern graduate, mind you is very talented. But uh,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: but I don't know, it was weird. It was a
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: weird energy in there, you know, you know when when
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I think we all knew something was it was coming
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: to an end, and we kind of we kind of
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: knew his time for it to be over, but we
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: kind of didn't want it to be over. And and
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I think in Bill's mind it was like, you know,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: if these new kids, if this gels with the audience,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: this could take off like like er you know, and
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: and and just keep putting in new cast and have
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: it keep going.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Yeah. I remember the moment I realized. I was like,
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: holy shit, I'm screech, holy shit, I'm you were screeching,
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: and and and and and John c Is Belding. I
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: was like, holy shit. Yeah, especially if.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: I did I did read. I don't know if you
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: guys talked about it or I also looked it up
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: that it was almost supposed Season nine was almost supposed
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: to be like a not a spin off kind of
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: but like you know, they were going to call it
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: something different, like.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Well, it is a spinoff, it's not the same episode,
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: right if you if you if it's not the same
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: show if you recognize. Season nine came like a year
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: and a half later, and not necessarily a year later,
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: like you know what I mean?
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I was, I was leaving, and the the idea
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: was to help launch this new series, so JD would
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: be there for six episodes to like make the audience
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: feel like it wasn't that different, and then I would
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: tiptoe out and and hand the vo literally off to
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Carrie Bouche and and it was gonna be like Scrubs.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Med School was kind of like the idea, right, yeah,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: and you know we're teachers now, but we had.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Gotten so far into the silly realm by that time too.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: You know what I mean, Like it was very broad.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, dude, like you and I dressed up as
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: a cowboy.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: And what was the name of that guy who I
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: think may have passed? He was very funny, the security
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: guard guy. Yes, yeah, he did he pass away.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: He did pass away.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Yes, Joelle's going to get his name for us.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: He was.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: He was very funny. I remember doing some funny stuff
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: with him while I was there for season nine.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Do you have another questioning I'm just entrance.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Shock.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Yes, do you even request, Donald, concernade you with the song.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: The only request is that if I can do a
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: it's a sequence of numbers that after the numbers a
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: song plays, you guys always do on the podcast. I
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: don't want to say it because if I say it.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Oh, you want to do it?
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: Wait? Wait, I would have done it already.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: No, he's very respectful.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I appreciate that, but I would have.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Turned it off. Dan, listen, listen, you would be You're
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: allowed to do it because it's a special occasion. And
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: by the way, a lot of a lot of people sorry,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: it's Wendell of middlebrooks uh. And he was hilarious and
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I'm sad to say that he did pass. He was
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: a very very funny man and he was on season
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: nine Scrubs. This is a security guard. But a lot
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: of talk on the social media about Bill Lawrence and
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: these numbers this week, and I think people were cracking
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: up about how Bill kept doing that, and these numbers
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: are all over my my timeline. I don't know if
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: if it's happened to you too, Donald.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: No, I I I knew exactly what he was talking
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: about when he said it. I'm very impressed that he
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: asked if he could do it, and he's.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Unlike Bill, he's a respectful man, would.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: I mean yeah, like yes, but.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Now you're taking from your Donald.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Stop it, listen, listen, and uh, it's your birthday. You're
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: the very first person we've allowed to do this who's
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: not Donald, Bill Lawrence or right, Oh, Judy did.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Judy did it? And so did uh what's her name?
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Uh the caller didn't she?
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Yes? Okay, you're right. You ruined, you ruined the specialness
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: of it.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: As I'm not the only person.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Well, you're the you're you're you're one a few other
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: than Donald.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: And you're way too respectful. Sean. I'm gonna say that
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: you're way too respectful.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Well, thank you, thank you for calling in. Happy birthday.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: And as you leave, you may yell those, don't yell
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: them because Dan's just she's but Donald. Let me direct Sean.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Go ahead. I'm sorry, dude, I didn't mean to get
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: in the way.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Okay, Sean, you can do it however you like. Thank
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: you for coming on the show. Happy birthday.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Thank you guys so much. This is amazing.
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: Go for it, sewn five s stories show. May okay,
- 1:10:11Speaker 7: turn it off.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Dan, that's enough.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Thank you Dan. Okay, we're back. Thank you guys for
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: coming on. Happy happy, happy birth yea, happy birthdays so much.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: May all your how do you? How do you wish
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: someone well? On a Duncan duncan on a D and
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: D campaign, you say like, may your journey be successful
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: That sounds great.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: May or may all of your May all of your
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: journeys be successful. May the dice fall in your favor.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: That's perfect.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: I wish you. I wish you twenty five critical hits
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: in your next campaign.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: May a warlock never eat your brain.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: I hope you never see the eyes of a beholder.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Yeah. If you ever come across an elf and his
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: name is Jasper, ignore him.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Elf with the bow is so cliche.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Okay, bye, guys, By we have to flitch you go.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: The show is going on forever.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Donald, This is a long one, h.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: I know, I know what we got it going on
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: D and D and and uh and and so many
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: other things. French fries.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Okay, let's get back into it. Okay, So we were
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: talking about the awesome Uh, well, I.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Think we've done the one or justice Johnny's great Charles Pappard,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: The city came operated to fine job choreographed Lomark.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Buckland missed a man amazing Okay, uh, then you with
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: the medical jargon. I know, dude.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I want to say that was badass and I was
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: watching it going go Zach because at nine ten I
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: have a big ass chunk of jargon. And for all
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: of you in the medical profession, who know what the
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: hell I'm saying. You guys are smart, and all I
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: had to do is memorize it. I didn't get too
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: many of those, but that was a doozy.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: That was a doozy. Also, the return of Jimmy Walker.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Oh so funny. Why are you o always in my fanity? No?
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Why am i? Ahways fantasy?
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: By the way, you got a problem man?
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Yeah, by the way, you mentioned it last time. Jimmy
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Walker showed up and he makes really fun bizarre choices. Yes,
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: like why are you oh in my fantasies? Yeah you
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: got a problem man?
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: That was hilarious.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Though very interesting line reads it makes it very very funny. Yeah,
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: that was why he was kid dynamite.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: A little bit of trivia on Sarah Chalk in the
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Catcher outfit. She looks very cute at eleven forty two,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: but she's wearing a left handed mint Donald.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: Well that's for camera purposes, obviously, I guess so.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: But I'm telling you I looked on the on the
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: on the trivia, and Sarah's a right hander. She shouldn't
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: be wearing a left handed Mit.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: Thro it right here, right here, she was help me
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: to help you. I don't know how she didn't laugh
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: with him doing that in her face. I think she did.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I think I'm to help you, I'm sure. On the gagriel,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: which is probably on YouTube, you can see her cracking
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: up at that. Yeah.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: And now finally, Yeah, this wasn't my final one. Doctor Kelso
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: saying doctor Kelso, I'm not suing the hospital and then
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: him walking out was my biggest laugh of the show.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: I said it before, I'll say it again. That shit
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: was hilarious.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Man, that was funny. But my heart hates Ugos for
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: fourteen forty to fourteen. That's funny, But I mean it's
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: a funny line. But first of all, I'm no piece
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: of art, and the idea that JD was saying he
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: ates Uggos is a bit ridiculous because I'm no Brad
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Pitt myself, but it was funny.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: But it was very funny. Yeah, very funny.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: That end song is supposed to be five for fighting
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Easy Tonight, for licensing purposing purposes. I listened to it
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: on Was it that on who? You listen on Hulu?
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: No, I saw it on Hulu. It wasn't that, for sure.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: Yeah it wasn't. I was on iTunes and it wasn't
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: on iTunes. So, just to reiterate, some of you have
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: heard say this a thousand times, but those of you
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: who hadn't because there was no streaming and such when
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: this show was made, and these licensing agreements were made
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: with these songs. Unless you're watching them in certain places
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: you have the DVDs of course, or most of the time,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: when you purchase it, like really purchase it iTunes or Amazon,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: the songs will be the original songs, I believe. But
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: when you stream, some of those contracts have expired or
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: didn't cover streaming. So someone who we never know and
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: has nothing to do with Bill or Christa who did
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: a lot of music, just put songs in. I'd love
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: to meet that person. Maybe Joelle can, Maybe Joelle can
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: do a homework assignment.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: On a very special episode of We Got to Bring.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: That We Gotta find that person and be like some
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: mysterious intern at Disney was responsible for just putting in
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: random songs. Because I was watching this this montage moment
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: with Sarah starting to kick as in the ICU, and
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I said to myself, this music isn't moving me. And
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: one of the great things about Scrubs is when they
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: would find the perfect they slash, we would find the
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: perfect bit of music and it would give you goosebumps
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: and it took the show to the next level. And
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: people love that about the show. And it just goes
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: to show you you can't just stick any old song
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: in there, because a lot of the magic of this
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: montag for me was lost because the song did nothing
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: for me. No offense to those musicians. It's a lovely song,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: but it wasn't that magic that happens when you find
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: just the right song. And I bet that five for
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Fighting Easy Tonight's song would have been perfect. So you
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: tell Judy you love her at twenty twenty twelve. I
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: was surprised by that. Why you break up for the
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: whole episode?
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: I know, I don't think he's trying to break I
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: think I think he's panicking. Yeah, you know what. I
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: think the fact that he got upset about her taking
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: the fries panicked him because that's a sign of I
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: really do care about you know what, this how this
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: girl makes me feel. I care so much that I'm
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: starting to recognize patterns, you know what I mean. And
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: when you start to recognize patterns, you're invested. And I
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: think Turk realized, Holy cow, I'm so invested in Carla
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: that and and and it's it's it's new for me. Therefore,
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: he snaps with the French fries, and he doesn't know
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: how to take it. And when it comes time to,
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: you know, break up with her, what she thinks is
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: about to happen, he tells her the truth. You know,
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: the writers so much.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: The writers did a good job with that mislead, because
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I again haven't seen this in twenty years, and I
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: was like, oh, did they break up for a few episodes.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I had no idea that you were about to say
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I love you.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: Oh, right on.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: You did a good job, though, you were. It was
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: a very heartfelt moment, and you're a fine actor, Donald Faison.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: Oh, Zach Braff, you are a fine actor.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Two more small things. First time doctor Cox ever calls
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Sarah Barbie. Okay, just a little trivia for you.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: The two of them together was really fun. They were
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: really good together.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: They were good, they were good combo. And lastly, because
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: there's Girl Scout cookies in this episode, do you want
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: to tell the listeners what your favorite Girl Scout cookie is? Joelle?
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Do you want to go first? While I don't.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: I don't fuck what you g style kikies?
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: Whoa fighting? Where is Donald?
- 1:16:54Speaker 6: How can you have buy cookies from these adorable little girls?
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I don't care about the girls. I care about the cookie.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: I think, yeah, I say, I think the cookies are overpriced?
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: You don't, Okay, But for the sake of this fucking exercise,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: can you name your favorite dick?
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: I'll fuck with girl Scott cooking?
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Oh? I got all right, Joelle? But Joelle, what's your favorite?
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I like Samoa's.
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: Samoas are delicious. That a frozen taglong, though, is my favorite.
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: It's the chocolate and peanut butter one.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: You're one of those ones. Dan, You want to weigh
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: favorite girls cookie? Oh? He's got a box?
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: Oh shit, he's got a box of samoas Samoa's just
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: do you have a niece or something like that that
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: you had to buy?
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Where did you get those?
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: I see those girls. I see those girls and their
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: mom on the corner, and I'm like, and they're like,
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: girls scott Cookies. Do you know my mom?
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I'm like, no, Dan, Dan, what where did you get those?
- 1:17:43Speaker 9: They come to my parents neighborhood all the time. Okay,
- 1:17:46Speaker 9: so they always hit me up, they said, Dan, they're
- 1:17:48Speaker 9: coming around, throw us in order and I get in
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: between five and tag boxes of samos.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: You know what they're doing? Money? You know what they're
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: doing money?
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Shut up, downs. You're supporting a charity, all right? Listen?
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: Oh is it for cherry?
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they give it to they do girlscout things with it.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: What girls?
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Can you think they're just pocketing the money and putting
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: badges on their ship.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: So let me get this straight.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, when you think the girls cookies aren't doing with
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: that money, let me get prom Hold on, let me.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Get this straight. So when you were a kid and
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: you had to sell candy for something, you didn't pocket
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: that money.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: No, And I never had one of those things because
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: I wasn't involved in any of those activities.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: You ain't pocket that money.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: No, you're you're admitting to the audience that you stole
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: fucking charity money shop the price.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: All you gotta do is up the price. Oh god,
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: Instead of making it a dollar, you make it a
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: dollar fifty and you walk away with fifty cents. You know,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: this is these are these are this is like.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Uh, how to hustle?
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: You want to learn how to hustle. This is the
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: perfect way to hustle. Listen, they gave Listen, they give kids.
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: There's a reason why when you see those kids with
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: the candy and the chocolate bars, that they're charging you
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: five dollars for the chocolate.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Oh my god. Will this Peloton character be back on
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: the next episode or is he just in this episode?
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: He might just be this episode. But I didn't drink. Hey,
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: check this out. I didn't drink this episode.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Didn't drink, but worked up because of a Peloton instructor.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Because of a Peloton instructor. And how my wife responded
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: to him. I was like, so that was really interesting
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: that you you know, you made me, you gave me
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: that guy. She's like, well, I rode with him this morning.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: Oh oh okay, Casey Kom got all worked up by
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: this guy.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: I think she might have got worked But he's got
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: better abs than you.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Donald.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: He definitely has better abs than me. He has better
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: guns than me.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: He's probably got better season, way more stamina than I have. Hey, listen,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I just want to tell you something. What these girl
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Scouts are doing in California is setting up outside the
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: weed shops because weed is legal here, even for recreational,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: as it is in several other states.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: So you're telling me that's not a hustle.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: So you're telling me that that's a smart hustle.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: That's a hilarious So it's not a smart hustle to
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: up the price of girl Scout cookies. No, I just
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: a smarter hustle, just to stay in front of you're
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: allowed to have a weed shop within feet of children. Right,

- 1:20:08Speaker 3: putting the weed shop in jeopardy. I'm just gonna get
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: it out there.

- 1:20:13Speaker 1: it up. Right, get out in front of my wheed shop.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: But let me get a box of Samoa's first.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna call the cops. I'm gonna call the cops
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: on him for first.
