- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, it's producer Ingrid from Pink Shade.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Mary Payne wanted.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Me to let you know that she is doing very
- 0:23Speaker 1: well and appreciates all of your greetings. She had an
- 0:26Speaker 1: abdominal aneurysm a few nights ago and was fortunate to
- 0:30Speaker 1: receive immediate medical attention. She is going to take off
- 0:34Speaker 1: one more week while she recovers and looks forward to
- 0:38Speaker 1: talking about all the shit shows when she returns. Thank
- 0:42Speaker 1: you all for listening and for your patients, and we
- 0:45Speaker 1: will talk to you soon.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Bunkies, Hi there, welcome back for another episode of Pink Shade.
- 0:51Speaker 3: This is the Pop and Bravo episode, and I am
- 0:55Speaker 3: with you today.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I am Kit Casey.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I am host of Reality Life with Kit Casey, and
- 0:59Speaker 3: I'm doing eight makeover episode for Mary Pain this week.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And so many of the things that I'm going to
- 1:04Speaker 3: discuss I know that she equally gets fired up about,
- 1:07Speaker 3: and I'm hoping that you do too. There are so
- 1:09Speaker 3: many stories floating in pop culture, especially after over the
- 1:14Speaker 3: last few weeks, but in particular Bravo, I feel like
- 1:17Speaker 3: we have to first address what's going on on the
- 1:20Speaker 3: valley now. Mary Pain and I both think that Jacks
- 1:22Speaker 3: is probably one of the worst people that I've ever
- 1:24Speaker 3: been on reality TV, and that says a lot because
- 1:27Speaker 3: she watches a prodigious amount of TLC and the people
- 1:31Speaker 3: that have been on ninety Day Fiance have really ranked
- 1:34Speaker 3: themselves high up in the hierarchy of craziness. But Jacks
- 1:39Speaker 3: is one of those people who only looks out for themselves.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Is clearly a pathological.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Liar and will do anything to make the people in
- 1:48Speaker 3: his lives in his life their lives miserable. Brittany, I've
- 1:53Speaker 3: had empathy for for a long time because she married
- 1:56Speaker 3: this weirdo and they have a child with special needs,
- 1:58Speaker 3: and you can't help a feel for her. However, this
- 2:02Speaker 3: last episode, she was on my last nerve, and then
- 2:04Speaker 3: it makes me start to second guess some of the.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Empathy that I've had for her.
- 2:08Speaker 3: We've all had a friend that got engaged or got
- 2:11Speaker 3: married or had a baby and they wanted to keep
- 2:14Speaker 3: the secret of the baby's name, you know, protected, and
- 2:18Speaker 3: then there's some dingoing who lets the cat out of
- 2:22Speaker 3: the bag and you're so mad at them for spoiling
- 2:24Speaker 3: the secret. Well, that's what happened this week. If you
- 2:26Speaker 3: have not watched the episode, long story short, Kristin gets
- 2:30Speaker 3: engaged to Luke. Luke decides to only include Nia and
- 2:34Speaker 3: Danny in on the secret because you know, when it
- 2:36Speaker 3: comes to secrets, there are only few people in your
- 2:39Speaker 3: orbit that you know are a vault, so he has
- 2:43Speaker 3: them participate. When Brittany finds this out, she's enraged because
- 2:47Speaker 3: she says she's best friends with Kristen. Why wouldn't you
- 2:49Speaker 3: include her? But as Luke pointed out on the after show,
- 2:53Speaker 3: if you tell Britney something, it's going to get back
- 2:55Speaker 3: to Jack's Now. She says in the after show while
- 2:59Speaker 3: she's being interviewed with Laala, there's no way I would
- 3:01Speaker 3: ever tell Jacks. Well, we had archival footage that proved
- 3:06Speaker 3: that she tells Jack's everything, namely things that are personal
- 3:09Speaker 3: about her friends, which include getting engaged, and that's a
- 3:14Speaker 3: big problem.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So he then sends.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It to the text chain that he has with thirty
- 3:19Speaker 3: of his dude friends, and of course, you know they're
- 3:22Speaker 3: going to tell their friend, their wives, their girlfriends. Then
- 3:26Speaker 3: they're going to DM people. It's going to get out.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And I think it wasn't just that Kristen had not
- 3:31Speaker 3: told her family. I think that she probably had some
- 3:33Speaker 3: sort of magazine deal set up that Luke set up
- 3:39Speaker 3: with their publicist or something spoiling. It may have not
- 3:43Speaker 3: only been putting them in an emotional predicament, but also
- 3:46Speaker 3: a financial predicament. So I think there's some stuff behind
- 3:50Speaker 3: the scenes that were probably going on as well.
- 3:52Speaker 2: But because she.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Did that and she comes across as such a dangling,
- 3:56Speaker 3: it makes me start to think about the timeline of
- 4:00Speaker 3: her relationship.
- 4:02Speaker 2: How she knew he was an awful person and still
- 4:06Speaker 2: married him. That is weird.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Then it makes me think about how she seems to
- 4:13Speaker 3: get a pass from this group even though she was
- 4:15Speaker 3: clearly a fan of the show and knew who he
- 4:17Speaker 3: was when they started dating in Las Vegas, like years
- 4:20Speaker 3: and years ago.
- 4:21Speaker 2: There's this thing on.
- 4:22Speaker 3: The show where Kristin despises Janet because she says, well,
- 4:26Speaker 3: Janet was a fan, but I mean a couple of
- 4:28Speaker 3: them were clearly fans, So that's kind of weird. Well,
- 4:33Speaker 3: I don't know what's gonna happen with Jackson Brittany, but again,
- 4:36Speaker 3: she's starting to get on my last nerve and I'm
- 4:38Speaker 3: wondering if everyone else is feeling the same way. So
- 4:40Speaker 3: tension boils over between Janet and Kristen because they were
- 4:44Speaker 3: already fighting, and of course Kristen's getting engaged. Everyone's already
- 4:48Speaker 3: kind of like, throw kristin a bone. Be kind, be loving,
- 4:52Speaker 3: be excited. Janet could not be more disinterested in Kristin
- 4:57Speaker 3: and Luke getting engaged and isolated in one of the
- 5:01Speaker 3: rooms of the hotel, which obviously have been paid for
- 5:03Speaker 3: by the network. And she's just like a bump on
- 5:07Speaker 3: a log and also coming on the heels of a
- 5:09Speaker 3: couple episodes where she's just going after Danny. So there's
- 5:14Speaker 3: this major bombshell. Janet drops the serious allegation that she
- 5:18Speaker 3: accuses Danny, who's married to Nia, of sexual assault. She
- 5:22Speaker 3: claimed that he assaulted both Jasmine and Michelle, who is
- 5:26Speaker 3: our partner, at a Hollywood party and said in no
- 5:30Speaker 3: uncertain terms that he had crossed a line. Now, Danny
- 5:33Speaker 3: has denied the allegations, calling them slanderous, and Kristen even
- 5:37Speaker 3: criticized Janet's wording in a confessional colonist defamatory. Add this
- 5:42Speaker 3: to the list of things that are making this show
- 5:45Speaker 3: so hard to watch. I am surprised that they evencluded
- 5:50Speaker 3: that in this season.
- 5:52Speaker 2: At all, because it just why would you even include this.
- 5:56Speaker 3: There's no proof of it, and so it's just hearsay,
- 6:00Speaker 3: and I just feel bad for Danny and for Nia,
- 6:03Speaker 3: and I don't understand what chance motivation is. So she
- 6:08Speaker 3: has gone off for a vacation. There were reports that
- 6:12Speaker 3: she needed to get away, that she was in isolation.
- 6:15Speaker 3: She put out a video saying I just had a
- 6:18Speaker 3: family vacation. She has gone private on social media, which
- 6:22Speaker 3: is a good idea. I would have recommended the same
- 6:24Speaker 3: thing to her if I worked on the show. But
- 6:27Speaker 3: this show's dark.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Am I right?
- 6:30Speaker 4: It's summer and you know what that means? Lenen? You guys,
- 6:33Speaker 4: I love linen in this summer. It is so lightweight.
- 6:37Speaker 4: It makes me feel so happy. It makes me feel
- 6:39Speaker 4: like a fancy lady on vacation in Italy or something.
- 6:43Speaker 4: It look I might just be in North Carolina, or
- 6:45Speaker 4: am I be in Virginia? I could be in Mississippi,
- 6:47Speaker 4: but whatever, it makes me feel fancy. I love Lenen.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Right now. In my Quent's cart, I have the most
- 6:53Speaker 4: adorable shirt dress. It's a short sleeve short dress, but
- 6:56Speaker 4: it's sort of mid thigh. It buttons up, it has
- 6:59Speaker 4: a sash. Linen I just got two short sleeve linen
- 7:03Speaker 4: shirts from quints for myself and I got one for
- 7:07Speaker 4: my husband. You guys, go over to Quin's and get
- 7:09Speaker 4: their linen. You will not believe it. It is summer
- 7:12Speaker 4: and it is great quality. And again I've told you
- 7:15Speaker 4: guys about that little chart they have. Go down to
- 7:18Speaker 4: the chart, look at other luxury brands. Compare the prices,
- 7:21Speaker 4: and you're getting the same item, you guys, It couldn't
- 7:25Speaker 4: be more the same item. They are beautiful and so affordable. Okay,
- 7:31Speaker 4: so treat your closet to a little summer glow up
- 7:34Speaker 4: with Quint's. Go to quints dot com slash pink Shade
- 7:38Speaker 4: for free shipping on your order and three hundred and
- 7:41Speaker 4: sixty five day returns. You guys, that's no joke. I
- 7:43Speaker 4: had something sitting around from Quin's, a little pair of
- 7:46Speaker 4: shoes that just didn't fit me properly. I'd got the
- 7:49Speaker 4: wrong size or something. I went to return them. It
- 7:51Speaker 4: had been two months. They took them back, no problem.
- 7:53Speaker 4: I got credit in my cart, and then I bought
- 7:56Speaker 4: myself some more linen and I bought myself a suitcase. Okay,
- 8:00Speaker 4: went dot com slash pink Shade free shipping, three hundred
- 8:04Speaker 4: and sixty five day returns. Qu I n ce dot
- 8:07Speaker 4: com slash pink Shade, you get free shipping and three
- 8:10Speaker 4: hundred and sixty five day returns. It's quins dot com
- 8:12Speaker 4: slash pink Shade and at the end they'll say where
- 8:15Speaker 4: did you hear about us? Make sure you say pink
- 8:18Speaker 4: Shade sent you.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:22Speaker 3: This has triggered a lot of reactions online. Some fans
- 8:26Speaker 3: are praising Janet, saying, Okay, she's you know, understands the assignment.
- 8:31Speaker 2: She shows up.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Others are siding with Danny and Nia, and of course
- 8:36Speaker 3: they've denied all of the accusations. I just feel bad
- 8:42Speaker 3: for the people that have to promote this show because
- 8:47Speaker 3: I have to think they're all looking at each other
- 8:48Speaker 3: like this is such a disaster and it keeps getting worse.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I don't know how much longer I can watch the show,
- 8:55Speaker 3: But I'm wondering what you guys think too. Now and
- 8:57Speaker 3: watch what Happens live. Jesse was asked about out the
- 9:01Speaker 3: things that he has said about Michelle, his ex wife,
- 9:04Speaker 3: and he claimed she constantly creates narratives about him and
- 9:07Speaker 3: needs to be more fun and friendly now The other
- 9:09Speaker 3: guest was Abby Elliott.
- 9:11Speaker 2: She was on Saturday Night Live years and years ago.
- 9:13Speaker 3: She gave him this side eye, and Andy made a
- 9:17Speaker 3: joke that it landed so badly with the Abby he
- 9:21Speaker 3: can't even see the forest or the trees either. So again,
- 9:24Speaker 3: everybody on the show, there's an issue with I want
- 9:27Speaker 3: to know what you guys think. Are you into the
- 9:29Speaker 3: show anymore? Does it still get you fired up? All?
- 9:33Speaker 4: Right?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Then we have the Golden Bachelor.
- 9:35Speaker 3: So the golden Bachelor is supposed to be someone who's
- 9:39Speaker 3: open to the idea of finding love again. Typically there's
- 9:42Speaker 3: someone who have been widowed or divorced and they have
- 9:47Speaker 3: kids from a previous marriage. They're usually adults, they don't
- 9:51Speaker 3: have kids at home that they have to still raise,
- 9:56Speaker 3: and so it provides them the freedom to kind of
- 9:58Speaker 3: begin this new chapter. Well, we know what a headache
- 10:01Speaker 3: the first gold in batster was. I could have told
- 10:04Speaker 3: you from the very beginning that he was going to
- 10:06Speaker 3: choose Teresa because she had the most money. They of
- 10:09Speaker 3: course broke up soon after they had the television wedding. Well,
- 10:12Speaker 3: now they have mel Owens. The first thing I heard
- 10:15Speaker 3: out of the gate was he was sixty six and
- 10:17Speaker 3: from Newport Beach, and I thought, they'll there's the problem.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I live here sixty six year old men. It is
- 10:23Speaker 3: a sea of veneers, very tight shirts. They're all on
- 10:27Speaker 3: like human growth hormone. They all believe they should be
- 10:30Speaker 3: with a twenty eight to thirty two year old woman.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I couldn't imagine a man here who played college football
- 10:38Speaker 3: and then in the NFL as an attorney wanting to
- 10:41Speaker 3: be with someone in the age range that the production
- 10:45Speaker 3: would have chosen. So on June fourth, during a podcast
- 10:49Speaker 3: that he did for University of Michigan Football because he
- 10:51Speaker 3: was an alum, he openly stated that he asked ABC
- 10:55Speaker 3: to only include women ages forty five to sixty, adding bluntly,
- 10:59Speaker 3: if you're sixty or over, I'm cutting them. And he
- 11:01Speaker 3: also criticized potential contestants for having artificial hips and wigs,
- 11:06Speaker 3: which of course promote prompted accusations of being shallow, agist,
- 11:11Speaker 3: and misogynistic. Well yeah, obviously, so fans erupted over social media,
- 11:17Speaker 3: as one would expect, because this is the one that
- 11:22Speaker 3: you're going to promote that it is pursuing a love
- 11:24Speaker 3: story of Like, clearly this guy is elated that he's
- 11:28Speaker 3: going to get a little bit of fame again because
- 11:31Speaker 3: he played in the NFL. And again, I'm telling you,
- 11:34Speaker 3: he believes he should.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Be with like a thirty year old.
- 11:36Speaker 3: So Jerry, who was the disaster from the first season,
- 11:40Speaker 3: publicly condemned his stance, saying it was a huge mistake,
- 11:43Speaker 3: reminding him that being open minded is essential on a
- 11:46Speaker 3: show that's designated to celebrate mature love. Okay, A publicist
- 11:50Speaker 3: wrote that, I promise you. So then rumors quickly were
- 11:53Speaker 3: spreading like reality Steve Who's buddy of mine. He reported
- 11:56Speaker 3: that he'd been fired over the comments, but sources connected
- 12:01Speaker 3: to ABC confirmed that they're standing by him, despite internal
- 12:05Speaker 3: staff concerns that the tone conflicts with the inclusive spirit
- 12:08Speaker 3: of Golden Bachelor, Like they're upshits crick, Who's.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Gonna watch this? So I don't know what's gonna happen.
- 12:16Speaker 3: But again, you can't choose a guy from southern California,
- 12:21Speaker 3: because this is what's gonna happen. You had to choose
- 12:23Speaker 3: somebody who is not from a part of the country
- 12:27Speaker 3: where all of the men think that they should be
- 12:29Speaker 3: with a woman who's like twenty eight years old. It
- 12:32Speaker 3: is absurd. I'm telling you Bobby his ex wife was
- 12:34Speaker 3: twenty years younger than him. Do they do zero research
- 12:39Speaker 3: into some of these candidates? It's crazy, So I'm interested
- 12:43Speaker 3: to know what you think. Do you think that you
- 12:45Speaker 3: will watch a show with a sixty six year old
- 12:47Speaker 3: man who believes that he should be with somebody much
- 12:52Speaker 3: younger than himself.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Look, feeding yourself is hard enough sometimes, but what about
- 12:57Speaker 4: when you have a whole family of mouths to feed? Okay,
- 13:00Speaker 4: one is home from college and I'm back to feeding
- 13:01Speaker 4: four people every night. I'm exhausted from it, You guys,
- 13:04Speaker 4: I'm exhausted from it. So thank goodness, I have Home Chef.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I can choose from over thirty five meals and eighteen
- 13:10Speaker 4: extras per week, and they can also cater to special

- 13:36Speaker 4: with the pre portioned ingredients, but they also have quick
- 13:39Speaker 4: thirty minute recipes of and ready options, microwave meals, a
- 13:43Speaker 4: dedicated family menu. No matter what you want, they have

- 13:57Speaker 4: this new five ingredient meals that simplify the prep with everything,
- 14:01Speaker 4: and I love that too, because when you simplify the prep,
- 14:04Speaker 4: you simplify the cleanup, and that's what I hate after dinner,
- 14:07Speaker 4: all that stuff you have to clean up, But not
- 14:09Speaker 4: with Home Chef. It's all simplified and there's no waste
- 14:13Speaker 4: because you used everything that sen't you. It's fantastic. For
- 14:16Speaker 4: a limited time, home Chef is offering my listeners fifty

- 14:40Speaker 2: Now Denise Richard's divorce. This was a shocker.
- 14:44Speaker 3: This came out Monday that Aaron, who is her husband,
- 14:49Speaker 3: filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Now he listed their separation eight is July fourth, So
- 14:58Speaker 3: you're running through the numbers just like I was. July fourth.
- 15:02Speaker 3: They got in some huge fight. What happened, and then
- 15:04Speaker 3: Monday morning he's already filed. So the spouse support spousal
- 15:09Speaker 3: support requests are bonkers. He's asking the court to mandate
- 15:14Speaker 3: spousal support and also reported that their combined monthly expenses
- 15:18Speaker 3: total around one hundred and five thousand dollars. I know,
- 15:21Speaker 3: you just threw your phone out the window. First of all,
- 15:24Speaker 3: apparently she makes two hundred and fifty thousand dollars a
- 15:26Speaker 3: month because of only fans, and he is saying again
- 15:31Speaker 3: the expenses are one hundred and five thousand dollars. Also,
- 15:34Speaker 3: he says that he has not made any income the
- 15:36Speaker 3: last two years because he is now part they've got
- 15:39Speaker 3: a fifty to fifty split of their joint venture, Smoke
- 15:42Speaker 3: and Mirrors Entertainment. Now, remember she said he would be
- 15:46Speaker 3: he would have been enraged to find out that she
- 15:50Speaker 3: alluding to, you know, on the Real Housewods of Beverly Hills,
- 15:53Speaker 3: that she may have hooked up at some point with
- 15:55Speaker 3: Brandy Glanville, saying, you know, we're in a monogamous relationship,
- 15:59Speaker 3: and you know it's very important that we you know,
- 16:02Speaker 3: he were in a very serious relationship and he doesn't
- 16:05Speaker 3: like any of that stuff, and then to all of
- 16:09Speaker 3: a sudden become her business partner and then she's on OnlyFans.
- 16:13Speaker 3: It just seems like that's in conflict. Like she almost
- 16:17Speaker 3: made it seem like he was either controlling of the relationship,
- 16:21Speaker 3: like you can't be with anybody else but me? Would
- 16:25Speaker 3: that same person be okay with her? Like flawning her
- 16:28Speaker 3: body on a subscription site? Like it all seemed very weird.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Also important to note he does seem bonkers. He seemed
- 16:36Speaker 3: like somebody who is a conspiracy theory theorist about just
- 16:40Speaker 3: about everything in life. Like there was one dinner scene
- 16:43Speaker 3: on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills where he was saying,
- 16:45Speaker 3: everything that you believe and you can correct me if
- 16:48Speaker 3: I'm wrong on the phrasing here, So like everything you've
- 16:50Speaker 3: ever believed about health is completely wrong, like you should
- 16:53Speaker 3: believe nothing that you've ever read anywhere by any person,
- 16:57Speaker 3: which includes any doctor, like he's you know, one of
- 17:00Speaker 3: those people that really believes they know more than anything
- 17:04Speaker 3: that anyone has ever studied, like crazy pants. So he
- 17:09Speaker 3: is no longer a health coach. Shocker, because Denise is
- 17:13Speaker 3: making all the money from OnlyFans. So they become business partners,
- 17:17Speaker 3: as mentioned, and so that's what we're talking about. But
- 17:19Speaker 3: what's also crazy is they talk about the list of expenses. Oh,
- 17:25Speaker 3: by the way, for context, they got married in twenty eighteen,
- 17:28Speaker 3: so it was a seven year marriage. At the time
- 17:29Speaker 3: of filing. He had that healing business and face significant debts.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Court filings have detailed over one hundred and ninety thousand
- 17:37Speaker 3: dollars in defaulted business loans, with debts bellonging to two
- 17:40Speaker 3: hundred and twenty eight thousand dollars. Creditors have even attempted
- 17:43Speaker 3: to claim her income to repay his debts. According to
- 17:46Speaker 3: the Sun, and the couple started or they started filming
- 17:52Speaker 3: Bravos Denise Richards and Her Wild Things, I think just
- 17:57Speaker 3: maybe six months before it premiered of twenty twenty five,
- 18:01Speaker 3: So that show showcased their family life and the ups
- 18:04Speaker 3: and downs of marriage. So he's got a lot of debts.
- 18:08Speaker 3: He's probably pushing her do only fans because they needed
- 18:12Speaker 3: the money. I'm assuming we can only assume and then
- 18:15Speaker 3: to do this TV show. Maybe that added extra strain too,
- 18:18Speaker 3: But the financial entanglements could be some of the reason
- 18:21Speaker 3: for this. With shared business assets and substantial joint expenses,
- 18:25Speaker 3: that divorce could involve a complex legal and financial settlement,
- 18:29Speaker 3: as one can explain or expect. So is TV figures
- 18:33Speaker 3: that split is short unfold under the spotlight. And I
- 18:39Speaker 3: got to tell you, if he thinks the media is
- 18:41Speaker 3: not going to cover this is crazy.
- 18:43Speaker 2: But let's get back to the costs.
- 18:45Speaker 3: He's claiming they spent twenty five thousand dollars a month
- 18:48Speaker 3: on food. By the way, he never adopted Eloise, her daughter,
- 18:53Speaker 3: but apparently he had plans to, so the the filing.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I don't know how much he can include. No, you know,
- 19:05Speaker 3: I stand corrected. He does say that seven thousand dollars
- 19:08Speaker 3: was spent on Eloise's care per month. There was like
- 19:11Speaker 3: five thousand dollars on dry cleaning, eighteen thousand dollars on
- 19:16Speaker 3: their rent. There was no mention of a mortgage and
- 19:20Speaker 3: on the show because I watched a couple episodes of
- 19:22Speaker 3: the Denise Richards Show with her kids, Denise Richards and
- 19:27Speaker 3: her Wild Things, it looked like his family was staying
- 19:31Speaker 3: in the home that she lived in Malibu, and then
- 19:33Speaker 3: they had adjoining apartments. But that rent is eighteen thousand
- 19:37Speaker 3: dollars twenty five thousand dollars on food.
- 19:41Speaker 2: How do we explain that one?
- 19:43Speaker 3: So what's next is the We can expect the court
- 19:46Speaker 3: filings outlining the custody, support, debt division, and the business ownership. Also,
- 19:52Speaker 3: we have to keep an eye out for official public
- 19:54Speaker 3: comments or updates from the reps, which have yet to come.
- 19:56Speaker 3: But I don't think the custody is going to be
- 20:00Speaker 3: issue because he never formally adopted her Eloise. Then we've
- 20:04Speaker 3: got a Love Island scandal. On Love Island, there's been
- 20:08Speaker 3: a way of controversy surrounding season seven contestants being removed
- 20:12Speaker 3: after resurfaced racist content on social media. So it's a
- 20:17Speaker 3: cast member by the name of you, Lissa, and she
- 20:19Speaker 3: was removed after leaked clips from a twenty twenty four
- 20:22Speaker 3: podcast where she used an explicative and it is very upsetting.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Producers quietly sent her home early into the season, but
- 20:30Speaker 3: they only gave a vague reason that she left for
- 20:33Speaker 3: personal reasons. She later apologized, acknowledging that she used a
- 20:38Speaker 3: hateful word I had no writing using, and said that
- 20:41Speaker 3: she was reflecting, learning and growing. But then Sierra twenty
- 20:46Speaker 3: six days later, she exits. She is an influencer and
- 20:50Speaker 3: a content creator. Ejected just before the finale after pasted
- 20:53Speaker 3: Instagram posts from twenty fifteen to twenty twenty three emerged
- 20:56Speaker 3: containing anti Asian slurs. Her remove followed petitions. They had
- 21:02Speaker 3: seventeen thousand plus signatures, with intense backlash and a significant
- 21:07Speaker 3: drop in her follower a count. Her family has called
- 21:10Speaker 3: for compassion and stated that she was isolated in the
- 21:13Speaker 3: villa and had not fully processed the incident because they
- 21:16Speaker 3: take away everything, their phones, everything. So again, that was
- 21:19Speaker 3: the second time the season tied to contestants that were
- 21:23Speaker 3: made to exit because of racist past social media. So
- 21:29Speaker 3: it obviously is sparking public scrutiny of Peacock and ITV's
- 21:32Speaker 3: vetting processes and consistency, and the viewers are questioning the
- 21:37Speaker 3: production's double standards because Ulyssa exit, her exit felt abrupt
- 21:42Speaker 3: and unexplained, while Sierra had more public pressure and action.
- 21:47Speaker 3: So I'm going to say that there probably were working
- 21:50Speaker 3: on the fly, and it is a good question of
- 21:53Speaker 3: the vetting how that didn't come up, But.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I don't know. It's hard to say.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I would love to interview somebody who works in casting
- 22:01Speaker 3: about the level in which they are able to do
- 22:04Speaker 3: the vetting process for some of these shows. And that
- 22:09Speaker 3: finale is soon approaching. It's like July thirteenth, I think
- 22:13Speaker 3: that's the finale, So it'll be interesting to see if
- 22:18Speaker 3: they interview executive producers after to find out all of
- 22:21Speaker 3: the things that happen.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Y'all, as ladies of a certain age, we are always

- 24:03Speaker 3: Now, the other thing I wanted to tell you about
- 24:05Speaker 3: what you should watch because every week I put out
- 24:08Speaker 3: this list of what to watch, and I cannot recommend
- 24:11Speaker 3: this enough. It is a documentary called My Mom Jane.
- 24:15Speaker 3: It's on HBO and if you love all things pop culture,
- 24:20Speaker 3: you will appreciate this because Mariska Hargateay, who is the
- 24:26Speaker 3: director of this documentary but kind of woven into the subject.
- 24:30Speaker 3: She is a star of Law and Order and her
- 24:33Speaker 3: mother was Jane Mansfield, who is this blonde, blonde bombshell.
- 24:37Speaker 3: So if you're familiar with like a lot of Hollywood, lord,
- 24:41Speaker 3: you may be familiar with the story. But I'm telling
- 24:44Speaker 3: you got to watch this doc And for so many
- 24:46Speaker 3: of you that are listening, you're looking for something that's
- 24:50Speaker 3: really hearty. It's got great personal storytelling, and this doc
- 24:55Speaker 3: is the one to watch. So it revisits the life
- 24:58Speaker 3: of one of Hollywood's most misunderstood icons, Gene Mansfield has mentioned,
- 25:02Speaker 3: but it's through the eyes of her daughter, Marishka. So
- 25:05Speaker 3: of course she's best known for her role on Law
- 25:08Speaker 3: and Order, but in this case, she's taking us on
- 25:10Speaker 3: this emotional journey to understand her mother behind the myth,
- 25:14Speaker 3: not just this blonde bombshell or a tabloid fixture, but
- 25:19Speaker 3: her mom as an artist and this complicated human being.
- 25:22Speaker 3: She was one of the most fascinating figures of the
- 25:25Speaker 3: mid twentieth century pop culture, often remembered for that blonde hair,
- 25:30Speaker 3: her persona, and of course her tragic death, and the
- 25:34Speaker 3: full story of her life reveals a woman who was
- 25:36Speaker 3: far more complex, intelligent, and driven than the headlines had
- 25:40Speaker 3: ever allowed. She was born in nineteen thirty three in Brynmar, Pennsylvania,
- 25:45Speaker 3: but raised primarily in Texas after the early early death
- 25:48Speaker 3: of her father when she was just three years old.
- 25:51Speaker 3: He died of a heart attack while he was driving,
- 25:52Speaker 3: and sadly, she was in the car at the time,
- 25:55Speaker 3: which we will come back to in a second. From
- 25:58Speaker 3: a young age, she was ambitious, she said, acting, singing,
- 26:01Speaker 3: She knew multiple languages, She had a very high IQ
- 26:04Speaker 3: and dreamed of Hollywood stardom. But it wasn't just talent
- 26:07Speaker 3: or ambition that got her there. She was a master
- 26:10Speaker 3: of media before that was even a concept. So if
- 26:13Speaker 3: you were to compared to someone now, maybe like a
- 26:15Speaker 3: Paris Hilton. She understood long before the age of influencers,
- 26:19Speaker 3: that success in Hollywood wasn't just about performance, it was
- 26:22Speaker 3: about perception. So she was an early architect of personal branding,
- 26:26Speaker 3: crafting a public persona that positioned herself not just as
- 26:30Speaker 3: an actress, but as a spectacle. And she did it knowingly,
- 26:33Speaker 3: but with a wink and not a stumble. While she
- 26:36Speaker 3: leaned into the Hollywood caricature, she was, at her core
- 26:39Speaker 3: a multifaceted artist. She could play multiple instruments, including the
- 26:44Speaker 3: violin and the piano. Again, she spoke several languages fluently
- 26:47Speaker 3: and took acting very seriously. She studied at UCLA and
- 26:51Speaker 3: with private coaches, but she didn't want just fame. She
- 26:54Speaker 3: wanted a career, and she also knew how to work
- 26:56Speaker 3: the system, so she would orchestrate these publicity stuff. She'd
- 27:00Speaker 3: invite the proparazzi to capture these outrageous moments, and seemed
- 27:04Speaker 3: to always be one step ahead of the press. She
- 27:07Speaker 3: knew that to stay relevant, you had to stay talked about,
- 27:10Speaker 3: and she was brilliant at staying on the front page,
- 27:12Speaker 3: whether it was a wardrobe malfunction or a controversial photo
- 27:16Speaker 3: op or eyebrow raising quotes. She wasn't just playing the
- 27:20Speaker 3: Hollywood game. She was rewriting the rule book, long before
- 27:23Speaker 3: the rest of the industry really caught on. She broke
- 27:26Speaker 3: into business in nineteen fifty and was crowned Playboy Playmate
- 27:30Speaker 3: of the Month in nineteen fifty five and signed by
- 27:33Speaker 3: twentieth Century Fox as the studio looked for someone to
- 27:37Speaker 3: rival Marilyn Monroe. Her breakout role came in the Broadway
- 27:40Speaker 3: in film versions of Will's success Spoil Rock Hunter, where
- 27:44Speaker 3: she played a self aware parody of a Hollywood starlet.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Her life often teetered between the aspirational and the outrageous,
- 27:51Speaker 3: between stardom and scandal. As the sixties wore on and
- 27:54Speaker 3: Hollywood began to shift away from the studio system and
- 27:58Speaker 3: from the overtly glamorous start line archetype that had really
- 28:02Speaker 3: had been something that she embodied, she found herself increasingly sideline.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Roles became fewer, and the ones that she was offered
- 28:10Speaker 3: often felt like echoes of the persona she had already outgrown.
- 28:13Speaker 3: The industry that once courted her began to turn its
- 28:16Speaker 3: gaze elsewhere, and while she was still in her early thirties,
- 28:20Speaker 3: she was already being deemed too old for the image
- 28:23Speaker 3: that she had so carefully crafted. So she pivoted the
- 28:27Speaker 3: way that women in Hollywood so often have to do,
- 28:30Speaker 3: by taking her fame on the road. She performed in
- 28:32Speaker 3: nightclubs across the country, including Las Vegas, lounges and small
- 28:36Speaker 3: town venues. These were no longer high budget film sets,
- 28:40Speaker 3: but she brought the same star power to a nightclub
- 28:42Speaker 3: stage as she did to a movie camera. She'd have
- 28:44Speaker 3: the sequence and the jokes, and always in control of
- 28:47Speaker 3: the room. She also appeared in a string of European
- 28:51Speaker 3: B movies, often with lurid titles and minimal scripts, that
- 28:54Speaker 3: capitalized on her notoriety more than her talent. But she
- 28:57Speaker 3: leaned in, working constantly hustling to provide for her children,
- 29:02Speaker 3: refusing to disappear quietly. Now she had five children, and
- 29:07Speaker 3: she worked hard, and if you think about that time,
- 29:11Speaker 3: she would bring her kids everywhere.
- 29:14Speaker 2: If she went to.
- 29:16Speaker 3: A talk show, she would bring her kids with her,
- 29:19Speaker 3: and that was so unheard of at the time, where
- 29:24Speaker 3: you know, it was sort of like kids should be
- 29:27Speaker 3: not kids should not be seen. We don't want to
- 29:29Speaker 3: know anything about your kids. Just keep working, especially if
- 29:32Speaker 3: you're this bombshell and you give this like sexy persona.
- 29:36Speaker 3: So there is an undercurrent of tragedy in this period,
- 29:39Speaker 3: not just in her declining fame, but in the way
- 29:41Speaker 3: that the industry discarded her. She played the game it
- 29:45Speaker 3: demanded of her, and when it a longer served her,
- 29:47Speaker 3: it had moved on. So as the spotlight dimmed, she
- 29:50Speaker 3: remained a consummate performer. She stayed visible, She stayed working,
- 29:54Speaker 3: She stayed provocative. Reinvention wasn't optional, it was survival. But
- 29:58Speaker 3: behind the scenes, beyond the care Emma flashes in the
- 30:00Speaker 3: cleavage bearing gowns, she was that devoted mother. Her journey
- 30:05Speaker 3: into motherhood began early. At sixteen years old, she married
- 30:08Speaker 3: her high school sweetheart, Paul Mansfield, and gave birth to
- 30:11Speaker 3: her first child, a daughter named Jane Marie, when she
- 30:13Speaker 3: was only seventeen years old. That early experience shaped her deeply.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Even as her Hollywood dreams took off. Motherhood was never
- 30:20Speaker 3: something she treated as secondary. Like I said, she would
- 30:22Speaker 3: take her kids everywhere. Her life unfolded in chapters, each
- 30:25Speaker 3: one marked by intents of love affairs, public marriages, and children,
- 30:30Speaker 3: and after her divorce for Paul Mansfield. She married Hungarian
- 30:33Speaker 3: American bodybuilder and actor Mickey Hargateag in nineteen fifty eight,
- 30:37Speaker 3: a union that became one of the most Hollywood photograph
- 30:41Speaker 3: marriages of the era, and they had three kids, Mickey,
- 30:45Speaker 3: Sultan and Marishka, the youngest, who would go on like
- 30:48Speaker 3: I said, to become a celebrated actress in her own right.
- 30:51Speaker 3: But her life was cut tragically short on June twenty ninth,
- 30:55Speaker 3: nineteen sixty seven, in a car accident that shocked the
- 30:57Speaker 3: nation and became one of the most haunting stories in
- 31:00Speaker 3: Hollywood history. She was only thirty four years old, traveling
- 31:03Speaker 3: from a nightclub appearance in Biloxi, Mississippi, to New Orleans,
- 31:07Speaker 3: where she was scheduled for a TV interview the next morning.
- 31:10Speaker 3: In her car were her then boyfriend Sam Brody, her driver,
- 31:14Speaker 3: and three of her kids, Mickey, Sultan and Marishka, who were.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Sleeping in the back seat.
- 31:20Speaker 3: So at two twenty five am, in a dark stretch
- 31:22Speaker 3: of Route ninety, just outside of New Orleans, her sixty
- 31:26Speaker 3: six Buick Electra crashed into the rear of a slow
- 31:28Speaker 3: moving tractor trailer that suddenly breaked behind a cloud of
- 31:31Speaker 3: insecticide fog being sprayed along the road, so the car
- 31:35Speaker 3: slid under the truck, instantly killing the three adults in
- 31:38Speaker 3: the front. Now, the three kids in the back survived
- 31:42Speaker 3: with minor injuries. So her father passed away of a
- 31:47Speaker 3: heart attack while driving while she was in the car,
- 31:49Speaker 3: and then she would die at the age of fifty
- 31:52Speaker 3: four or thirty four with her three kids in the back.
- 31:55Speaker 3: So in the aftermath, the crash became the stuff of
- 31:57Speaker 3: urban legend, and the tragedy was so high profile and
- 32:01Speaker 3: gruesome that it led to a significant change in vehicle safety,
- 32:04Speaker 3: the introduction of the underwride bar, now commonly referred to
- 32:07Speaker 3: as the Mansfield bar, which prevents cars from sliding underneath
- 32:11Speaker 3: large trucks. So I want you to watch My Mom Jane,
- 32:14Speaker 3: because it's a moving, intimate, and deeply personal exploration not
- 32:18Speaker 3: just of her life through the lens of tabloids or
- 32:20Speaker 3: pop culture and nostalgia, but through eyes of her daughter Murushka.
- 32:25Speaker 3: And for decades her public image had been flattened into
- 32:28Speaker 3: that caricature, the blonde bombshell, the Monroe look alike, the
- 32:32Speaker 3: Starlin new died tragically young. But in this documentary, it
- 32:35Speaker 3: goes deeper and she reclaims her mom as a full,
- 32:39Speaker 3: complex human being, an artist, a mother, a woman who
- 32:42Speaker 3: lived large but loved even larger. So again it's called
- 32:47Speaker 3: my Mom, Jane. So if you want more of my
- 32:50Speaker 3: lists of what to watch each week, ship what I
- 32:51Speaker 3: put out every week, go to Katekasey dot substack dot com.
- 32:55Speaker 3: I give you a list of tons of reality shows
- 32:57Speaker 3: and documentaries to watch. And then, if you love Real Housewives,

- 33:10Speaker 3: like that too. I'm sending all my love to the
- 33:13Speaker 3: Pink Shade listeners and of course to Mary Payne, and
