- 0:03Speaker 1: Great. We got it. Hello, and welcome to The Pre-Cap,
- 0:07Speaker 1: a daily show podcast where we sit down with this
- 0:09Speaker 1: week's host to recap some of what happened last week
- 0:12Speaker 1: and take a look at what's coming up next. I'm
- 0:14Speaker 1: one of the writers of the show, Nicole Conlon, and
- 0:16Speaker 1: with me today is your host for the week, Michael Kosta.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hi, Nicole. This is fun.
- 0:21Speaker 1: This is fun. And hello, Walter, who's sleeping in a
- 0:23Speaker 1: position that I can only describe as uncomfortable.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Walter is my dog, and he really is a
- 0:29Speaker 2: big fan of the pre-cap, even though he's yawning right
- 0:31Speaker 2: now as we speak. Very exciting. And we're both in
- 0:35Speaker 2: our whites, our Wimbledon whites right now.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yes, that's why I wore this shirt. It's not because
- 0:39Speaker 1: it's the last one that was cleaned in my closet.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I love that shirt. And as I told you before
- 0:44Speaker 2: we started recording, sharks survived the Big Bang.
- 0:49Speaker 1: The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Sorry. No, that's not the Big Bang. The Big Bang
- 0:54Speaker 2: is when the universe started. Thank you. Sharks, we'll take
- 0:57Speaker 2: that back. Sharks survived the asteroid that killed 80% of
- 1:02Speaker 2: species on Earth, including the dinosaurs.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah. This shirt is about how we're... overfishing. The back
- 1:09Speaker 1: of the shirt talks about empty seas. And it's crazy
- 1:11Speaker 1: that sharks survived the deadliest event on record and might
- 1:17Speaker 1: not survive humans.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, might not survive how fisher boats are dropping chains
- 1:22Speaker 2: in the bottom of the ocean and dragging the floor.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Not great for sharks.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But an asteroid that was 10 miles wide and traveling
- 1:29Speaker 2: at 40,000 miles per hour and was equivalent to 1,000
- 1:34Speaker 2: atomic bombs.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Sharks were like, we got it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Sharks were like, we got it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: No problem.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I'm just going to go swim a little deeper.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Now, Michael, I can't help but notice that one of
- 1:42Speaker 1: your ankles has a big brace on it.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah. I had an MRI today.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Which I've never had an MRI on a foot. That
- 1:51Speaker 2: was fun.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Okay. I wonder what, brain?
- 1:54Speaker 2: I've had shoulder. Shoulder. I've had wrist, but the foot
- 1:59Speaker 2: was nice. I actually didn't have to go all the
- 2:01Speaker 2: way in the tube.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Foot's easy because they just put a bunch of stuffing
- 2:04Speaker 1: around it.
- 2:04Speaker 2: You don't have to do anything. That was great. I
- 2:08Speaker 2: have a chronically sprained foot.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm not going to get into all the details because
- 2:14Speaker 2: doesn't everyone love hearing about everyone's medical ailments?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Well, no, but there is a big contingent of people
- 2:20Speaker 1: online who love hearing about feet.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Feet, that's true.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So this could really help us.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Well, what was funny was, let's just put it this way.
- 2:26Speaker 2: The third time I sprained my ankle... I was at
- 2:29Speaker 2: a bowling alley. And what happens with me is I go,
- 2:34Speaker 2: my vision turns bright red and I go into such
- 2:37Speaker 2: a pain that I kind of black out. It's really, really, really, really,
- 2:40Speaker 2: really hurts. And I come to, and there's a man
- 2:44Speaker 2: standing in front of me. And this woman says, talk
- 2:46Speaker 2: to him. He's a doctor. I'm on the ground grabbing
- 2:49Speaker 2: my ankle. And he goes, well, actually, I'm an anesthesiologist.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And I'm like, am I just going to ask an anesthesiologist? Anyways,
- 2:56Speaker 2: long story short, he said, Michael, you still think your
- 3:01Speaker 2: ankle's 20 years old. I said I should be better.
- 3:04Speaker 2: It happened six weeks ago. He goes, it takes 10
- 3:06Speaker 2: to six months at your age now.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 3:09Speaker 1: That's a long time.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I was like, God damn it. The whole time I
- 3:12Speaker 2: thought I could still follow the rehab program of a 20-year-old.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I can't.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I had ankle surgery five years ago because I kept
- 3:21Speaker 1: rolling my ankle over and over again. And, and because
- 3:24Speaker 1: like you roll it and then the ligaments and tendons
- 3:26Speaker 1: get all loose. And so that makes you more likely to,
- 3:28Speaker 1: so I just kept rolling it and then I rolled
- 3:30Speaker 1: it really bad one day and then I was having
- 3:32Speaker 1: trouble bending it. And so I finally went to a
- 3:34Speaker 1: doctor who got an MRI and we got the results
- 3:37Speaker 1: back and he was like, Oh, it's all fucked up
- 3:38Speaker 1: in there. He was like, you have cartilage damage. You've
- 3:42Speaker 1: got a bone spur. That's why I couldn't bend my
- 3:44Speaker 1: ankle anymore. He was like, your ligaments are like barely
- 3:46Speaker 1: attached to the bones. And then I had surgery and recovery,
- 3:49Speaker 1: like kind of sucked, but wasn't that bad, all things considered.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But I have not rolled my ankle one time since then.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Okay, so what... Because I don't... I'm going to try
- 3:56Speaker 2: to avoid surgery.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But what do they do to the ligament in surgery?
- 4:01Speaker 1: I think they cut part of it off and then
- 4:05Speaker 1: just reattach it so that it's taught again.
- 4:08Speaker 2: The actual ligament in your body, or they provide an
- 4:11Speaker 2: alternative ligament?
- 4:12Speaker 1: The actual ligament in your body.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So I don't... As far as... I think I have
- 4:15Speaker 1: maybe a couple screws, but nothing else foreign... in there.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I did the worst thing you can do when I
- 4:21Speaker 2: was initially injured was I went on YouTube and I
- 4:24Speaker 2: watched ankle surgery videos, which is like WebMDing yourself. I
- 4:29Speaker 2: don't even know what's wrong and I'm already like, gotta
- 4:31Speaker 2: get the foot taken off. I am not optimistic about
- 4:36Speaker 2: this MRI. I think the doctor's gonna say you got
- 4:38Speaker 2: your shit's all fucked up in there too.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 2: But let's fingers have fingers crossed. Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm rooting for you.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I got, I went to a few specialists and I
- 4:48Speaker 1: got prescription insoles, which is very nerdy, but they've helped
- 4:52Speaker 1: a lot. Except the guy who did, my ankle doctor
- 4:56Speaker 1: was like, okay, I'm going to send you to this guy.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He's the best at this. He's very weird. And I
- 5:01Speaker 1: was like, okay. And so then I went to the
- 5:03Speaker 1: address my doctor gave me. It was just this guy's house.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Already weird. Already weird. He like did the.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Consultation in his living room and he like He spent
- 5:12Speaker 1: a long time making these insoles. And then he was like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: all right, well, I'm going to go out to the garage.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You stay here in my house.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I was like, okay.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And it was like a very long process, a very
- 5:21Speaker 1: strange man. And my feet and ankles have never felt better.
- 5:24Speaker 2: It is interesting. We are willing to accept high levels
- 5:27Speaker 2: of weirdness if somebody is great at their job.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 2: That goes for all jobs.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Comedians, musicians, artists, writers, whatever.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's like in comedy, if you're an asshole,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you better be very funny. Yes.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And then it's fine kindness.
- 5:43Speaker 2: It's not fine, but you're going to keep your job.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:45Speaker 2: But if you're not funny, you better be really nice. Yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. So that's our lesson. You only have to
- 5:52Speaker 1: be nice if you're not funny.
- 5:54Speaker 2: That's right. You can take that straight to the bank. Otherwise,
- 5:56Speaker 2: you can take that one straight to the bank. But
- 5:59Speaker 2: I also am putting myself in the ears of our
- 6:02Speaker 2: listeners right now. A lot of people who don't live
- 6:05Speaker 2: in New York City... Maybe everyone hates foot problems, but
- 6:08Speaker 2: it takes on a whole new level here.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, because you walk everywhere.
- 6:11Speaker 2: You walk all the time and you're also carrying goods
- 6:14Speaker 2: on you.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:15Speaker 2: You're not just walking from the parking lot to the car.
- 6:18Speaker 2: You're walking various elevation changes of like concrete and you're
- 6:23Speaker 2: also carrying stuff.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And you've got kids and a tiny dog that you
- 6:26Speaker 1: can trip over as well.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Well, this guy is probably the reason I don't have
- 6:30Speaker 2: any cartilage because he likes to hide under my legs
- 6:33Speaker 2: while I cook.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 2: You know what's going to be, I just foresaw the
- 6:36Speaker 2: way his life is going to end is I'm going
- 6:38Speaker 2: to drop a steak knife and he's going to be
- 6:40Speaker 2: standing right there. Keep that in the edit, Alan.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Walter's going to have a real Final Destination style ending. Yes, yes, yes.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Speaking of Final Destination style endings, there's a plague in Russia.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I know. How can you, well, what is a plague?
- 6:54Speaker 1: I think it's literally the bubonic plague.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 6:57Speaker 1: So it's the plague. It's the titular plague.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I thought plague was just like a term for a sickness.
- 7:03Speaker 2: But even though they called it the sickness.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Yes. Well, I think it also can be. But when
- 7:08Speaker 1: you say the plague, typically you're talking about bubonic. Yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And it sounds like one researcher has died.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And there have been like a bunch of shutdowns and quarantines.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But what I'm confused about is the bubonic plague is
- 7:24Speaker 1: very treatable with antibiotics.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So I'm not 100% sure why... There seems to be
- 7:30Speaker 1: this huge, because there's always like weirdly prairie dogs have
- 7:34Speaker 1: it a lot. And there's a lot of prairie dogs
- 7:36Speaker 1: in Colorado. And so every few years we'll get a
- 7:38Speaker 1: story about like, can you believe these prairie dogs with
- 7:41Speaker 1: the plague? So I didn't think it was like that
- 7:43Speaker 1: big a deal, but it seems to be. not great
- 7:45Speaker 1: in Russia.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I mean, if that's the map where it is, they
- 7:47Speaker 2: probably haven't even got antibiotics up there yet. That is
- 7:50Speaker 2: so far away.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's in Siberia. It's not near anything major.
- 7:54Speaker 2: You know, I give nature and in particular sickness a
- 7:57Speaker 2: lot of credit. They are not afraid to make a comeback. Viruses, bacteria,
- 8:03Speaker 2: it is, you know, they have to We've got better medicines.
- 8:06Speaker 2: They adjust and morph themselves.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Good job.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I'm wondering if this is like some sort of antibiotic
- 8:12Speaker 1: resistant bubonic plague.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That'd be interesting.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Which wouldn't be great.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, you know, it was an interesting interview. It
- 8:21Speaker 2: was when John had on last week, the guy who.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Evan Gershkowitz.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And his book about Russia and what a beautiful place
- 8:29Speaker 2: it was as a man who's served a prison sentence there.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What a complicated... The book's amazing. Did you read it?
- 8:37Speaker 2: I have not read the book.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I have a copy on my desk because I was
- 8:39Speaker 1: on guest prep last week.
- 8:40Speaker 2: So I'll give it to you. It's really good.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Oh, great.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I would love to read that.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And that's not even my show and tell for this week.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah, great.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Nobody say that it's my show and tell.
- 8:47Speaker 2: And I have a show and tell that's unrelated to
- 8:49Speaker 2: Russia as well. Perfect. Great. But it's on brand for me.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Okay. I can't wait. I've been getting little hints about
- 8:56Speaker 1: what this show and tell might be. And I'm trying
- 8:58Speaker 1: to guess. I don't know.
- 8:59Speaker 2: We'll see. I mean, it is.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Strange that COVID happened and all the people that know
- 9:05Speaker 2: about this stuff said this type of thing will be
- 9:08Speaker 2: happening more and more as the earth warms and as
- 9:11Speaker 2: we are more connected to other countries in a multitude
- 9:16Speaker 2: of ways. And it feels like it has since then.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So, I mean, those scientists get to do a major victory.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Lap around whatever hospital we're.
- 9:25Speaker 1: All going to be quarantined in. Moving on to something
- 9:28Speaker 1: that is less effective at killing people.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Oh, man. This is a crazy story.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So there was a woman in Tennessee who many,
- 9:36Speaker 1: many years ago was convicted of murdering a classmate. They
- 9:42Speaker 1: sentenced her to death. And this week they tried to
- 9:46Speaker 1: administer a lethal injection and they botched it. So they
- 9:50Speaker 1: didn't kill her. And then they revived her and took
- 9:52Speaker 1: her to the hospital. And now they're going to have
- 9:54Speaker 1: to try to administer another lethal injection. Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And this is the state of Tennessee, Yes. I believe
- 9:59Speaker 2: that has a history of botched.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It's done this. It's done something like this before.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And from what I remember from when Gianna Tobani was
- 10:09Speaker 2: on the show and I was hosting and she wrote
- 10:12Speaker 2: a book called The Volunteer about a man in Tennessee. Check, please,
- 10:18Speaker 2: Asad or Alan. He had said, stop with the games
- 10:23Speaker 2: and kill me.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Go ahead. Like, I'm ready. I'm asking you. And even
- 10:27Speaker 2: though he was asking, the system doesn't actually know how,
- 10:31Speaker 2: can't do it. Appeals and they couldn't get the drugs
- 10:34Speaker 2: and they couldn't. So it's just a mess, the death penalty.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And Gianna speaks about how complicated, how much compassion do
- 10:45Speaker 2: we have for someone who has committed suicide? a heinous crime,
- 10:51Speaker 2: yet we are also trying to do the same to them.
- 10:54Speaker 2: She talks a lot about how much sympathy do we
- 10:56Speaker 2: allow ourselves for the person, for the victims, for the
- 10:59Speaker 2: whole process. It's just a really interesting conversation.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I guess I can't make any promises because I don't
- 11:05Speaker 1: edit the podcast, but if producer Alan makes it possible,
- 11:10Speaker 1: we'll put the link to that interview in the show
- 11:12Speaker 1: notes so that people can watch it and get sort
- 11:15Speaker 1: of a more informed opinion than I have about the situation. And.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You know....
- 11:21Speaker 1: Nevada.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Nevada, thank you. It was Nevada. I think at one
- 11:24Speaker 2: point Tennessee or somebody was like bringing back the firing squad.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yes. Which doesn't seem to be much better than lethal injection. Although,
- 11:35Speaker 1: like in France when they had guillotines, when the guillotine
- 11:38Speaker 1: was invented, part of it was viewed as like a
- 11:41Speaker 1: compassion thing because it.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Happens so fast. Yeah. You know, it's a very dark subject.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And what I find most interesting about humanity and our
- 11:54Speaker 2: society is the idea that the state was trying to
- 11:57Speaker 2: kill someone, messed it up, and then medical professionals were
- 12:02Speaker 2: trying to bring her back to life.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 2: So they can kill her again.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I mean, that is just, that ethically, conversationally, something is
- 12:13Speaker 2: off here. It's a mess. It's a mess. And I
- 12:16Speaker 2: would encourage everyone to check out Gianna's book And also,
- 12:19Speaker 2: let's think about ourselves and do we want to be
- 12:22Speaker 2: in a society that punishes killers by killing them? I
- 12:25Speaker 2: don't personally, but, you know, we can move on.
- 12:28Speaker 1: If we do, we should at least nail it on
- 12:30Speaker 1: the first try.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Well, that's what this guy was saying in the book.
- 12:32Speaker 2: He's like, just fucking do it. Yeah. Do it. Do it.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Do it. Do it. Do it. Anyways, I know. Messed up. Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 1: On to some more lighthearted news.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Have you seen this video of.
- 12:43Speaker 2: No.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, former... co-head of doge or
- 12:50Speaker 1: something like that have you seen him picking up and
- 12:52Speaker 1: almost dropping a kid aren't.
- 12:53Speaker 2: You so i i don't know about you i wake
- 12:55Speaker 2: up every morning thankful at the amount of money doge
- 12:58Speaker 2: has saved this government it's every single day and then
- 13:00Speaker 2: knowing that we can put it towards iran yes i
- 13:02Speaker 2: can't be happier.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yes i see the benefits throughout my life personally for
- 13:07Speaker 1: sure every day i'm walking down the street i'm like
- 13:09Speaker 1: that was doge that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Was doge that was doge that was doge.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Um and Vivek has retired from a successful career cutting
- 13:16Speaker 1: government spending to do this. And you're watching this for
- 13:19Speaker 1: the first time.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I've never seen this. It's very funny.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Alan, can you cue it up?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Oh, shit. I'll pick you up. There you go.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Whoa. Oh, jeez.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Big guy. That is a big guy. You want to
- 13:32Speaker 2: say something? You want to say something?
- 13:38Speaker 1: Uh, yeah.
- 13:40Speaker 2: USA! That's our educational system right there.
- 13:48Speaker 1: There are many funny things about this. First of all,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I thought when I saw this video going around, I
- 13:53Speaker 1: thought that must be like his kid at a rally.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's somebody else's kid. I don't know whose kid that is.
- 13:58Speaker 1: When he picks them up and he almost drops it,
- 14:00Speaker 1: he's like, oh, big guy.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Yeah, the big guy. I mean, when I'm at the
- 14:04Speaker 2: playground with my kids and there's like another kid screaming
- 14:07Speaker 2: on the swing saying, get me off. and I'm closer
- 14:10Speaker 2: to that kid than the parents, I always say, like,
- 14:13Speaker 2: do I have permission to help your child off the swing? Like,
- 14:16Speaker 2: you don't touch someone else's kid. And by the way,
- 14:20Speaker 2: they always say, yeah, grab my kid.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Michael, very trustworthy. Very trustworthy park dad.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I do have kids. I'm not just at the playground.
- 14:30Speaker 1: The other thing is that kid... was not helping. The
- 14:33Speaker 1: kid went fully, like, dead body and was not helping
- 14:36Speaker 1: Vivek in the scenario at all.
- 14:39Speaker 2: And if you think it's hard picking up a kid,
- 14:41Speaker 2: imagine moving an adult body, right? Just think about that.
- 14:47Speaker 2: It's heavy picking up a kid who's alive.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. So if you ever have
- 14:51Speaker 1: to dispose of a body, that's going to be a
- 14:53Speaker 1: lot harder than picking up that kid. It is.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And that is very funny. And I would say to
- 14:58Speaker 2: all politicians... It's not going to be a good photo
- 15:01Speaker 2: op if you're picking up a... That was not even
- 15:03Speaker 2: a toddler.
- 15:04Speaker 1: No, no, no. That was like a nine-year-old kid.
- 15:06Speaker 2: A nine-year-old kid. That's funny.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Also not having anything prepared for him to say. To
- 15:12Speaker 1: just be like, hey, you, third grader, open mic.
- 15:16Speaker 2: You can say whatever you want. It'd be great if
- 15:18Speaker 2: the kid was like, we need to reevaluate our strategy
- 15:21Speaker 2: through the Strait of Hormuz. 40% of the world's oil
- 15:24Speaker 2: goes through the Strait. Okay. Oh, whoa, I dropped him. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 2: I dropped you again. Okay.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah. So that is what Vivek Ramaswamy is up to.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Some other former cabinet members. We got Kristi Noem. News
- 15:36Speaker 1: about Kristi Noem this week. I was just thinking a
- 15:38Speaker 1: few days ago, like, oh, right. Remember Kristi Noem.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I know she was.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It feels like a lifetime ago.
- 15:43Speaker 2: But isn't she now the head of Special Shield Western
- 15:49Speaker 2: Hemisphere Envoy?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Very funny. And everyone was saying this whole time that
- 15:55Speaker 2: her marriage was a mess, right?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yes, because she bought the sex plane, which was ostensibly
- 16:02Speaker 1: for deportations, but there was a bedroom. And then a
- 16:05Speaker 1: news story about her husband dropped. Somebody leaked his OnlyFans DMs.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And so people were like not... Because they're also a
- 16:15Speaker 1: very traditional family values couple. And so people were like, okay,
- 16:18Speaker 1: I guess they're just going to stay together. But they
- 16:20Speaker 1: are now getting divorced.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and wasn't... It was like his requests were very
- 16:25Speaker 2: strange or something.
- 16:26Speaker 1: He was sending pictures of himself. And look, I don't
- 16:28Speaker 1: kink shame, but he was sending pics of himself. He
- 16:31Speaker 1: has like a, I think it's called a Barbie fetish.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Where he would stick balloons in his shirt to look
- 16:37Speaker 1: like huge boobs and then like wear like short shorts.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Alan's going to pull up the pictures so we can
- 16:43Speaker 1: all see.
- 16:44Speaker 2: And I might've even said this to you, Nicole, because
- 16:46Speaker 2: it sounds familiar, but I was always like, why don't
- 16:48Speaker 2: these people just say, We're in a kinky open marriage.
- 16:54Speaker 2: But then the thought, the response I had was, it's
- 16:56Speaker 2: actually worse to say that than to just be a Republican, like,
- 17:01Speaker 2: there it is.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And just do all this shit in secret.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I mean, I don't, you know, do your thing.
- 17:08Speaker 1: These are also, like, everybody involved was a consenting adult.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Correct.
- 17:12Speaker 1: There's no actual nudity.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Like, this... This is all.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Honestly fine by me. It's just like they're in this weird,
- 17:19Speaker 1: like traditional family values, you know, socially conservative couple that is,
- 17:25Speaker 1: handing down these regulations for other people. And it's like,
- 17:27Speaker 1: what are you doing?
- 17:29Speaker 2: Is it true that Grindr always goes off the chain
- 17:33Speaker 2: when the Republicans are in town?
- 17:34Speaker 1: I think that's an urban legend. Or it's the kind
- 17:36Speaker 1: of thing that activity on any dating app increases whenever
- 17:40Speaker 1: there's a big convention.
- 17:41Speaker 2: When there's a convention.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Because I always thought that was a fun one to
- 17:45Speaker 2: want to believe.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:47Speaker 2: But I always wondered if it If it would. And
- 17:51Speaker 2: welcome to our podcast called Alan Google Stuff.
- 17:55Speaker 1: This is, I mean, Joe Rogan's constantly having him look
- 17:59Speaker 1: up stuff. Yeah, Jamie's always looking stuff up on Perplexity.
- 18:02Speaker 1: If it's good enough for the most popular podcast in
- 18:04Speaker 1: the world, we could do it.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I don't ever root for anyone getting divorced. I hope
- 18:09Speaker 2: her and her ex-husband are better for it. But there
- 18:15Speaker 2: is a complexity to this because of this whole family
- 18:18Speaker 2: value thing.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 2: And man, is that such an insulting photograph of Kristi
- 18:24Speaker 2: Noem standing in front of the, I almost said prisoners.
- 18:28Speaker 2: We don't even know if they're prisoners. The men that
- 18:30Speaker 2: were locked in that El Salvadorian jail.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Really bad.
- 18:34Speaker 2: And we don't even know if they had reasons to
- 18:37Speaker 2: be deported or imprisoned.
- 18:39Speaker 1: We also, I think she did a photo op in
- 18:41Speaker 1: front of men in an El Salvadorian prison who had
- 18:44Speaker 1: been they were like violent criminals who had been arrested
- 18:47Speaker 1: in El Salvador. So like she was like trying to
- 18:50Speaker 1: make American like immigrants.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So it was a whole thing.
- 18:54Speaker 2: So I, I really am not a fan or rooting
- 18:57Speaker 2: for her, but personal stuff. I hope they get through it.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. But at least somebody in the administration found
- 19:03Speaker 1: love because it was just announced today that Kash Patel
- 19:07Speaker 1: has gotten engaged to Alexis Wilson.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Nice.
- 19:10Speaker 1: His now fiance slash country singer.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Oh, is she a country singer?
- 19:14Speaker 1: She is a country singer. Oh, yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I remember this one.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yeah. So, good for them. Yeah. I will say, Cash
- 19:22Speaker 1: is probably a little busy right now.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Well, he's still got to find the grandmother that went missing, right? Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I'm sure he's right on that.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I'm sure he's really on that. Yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 1: So, I don't know how involved Cash will be in
- 19:36Speaker 1: the wedding planning, but if they're lucky, that same oligarch
- 19:39Speaker 1: who paid for Don Jr. 's wedding will pay for theirs.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Will pay for theirs. I mean- Uh, you know, he,
- 19:46Speaker 2: he was in the news a lot as a drinker Uh-huh.
- 19:49Speaker 2: And then that story came out, I forget who broke it,
- 19:53Speaker 2: and he has stayed out of the news a little
- 19:55Speaker 2: since then.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Well, but there was the whole bestiality thing.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Oh, I don't remember that.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. We did a show. Josh had two shows,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and he got the fun bestiality stories, and then you
- 20:05Speaker 1: hosted the next day.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's right. I was the next day.
- 20:07Speaker 1: And you were the very dry and dark around war updates.
- 20:09Speaker 1: It was. And I was like, oh, Kosta missed the
- 20:11Speaker 1: fun show by one day.
- 20:12Speaker 2: It is funny. Some days you strike gold, and some
- 20:16Speaker 2: days you're like, oh, I'm shoveling coal today.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I'm the policy guy.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm the policy guy today. That's right. I forgot
- 20:21Speaker 2: about the bestiality.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Kash Patel had that whole thing where he was like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: we're taking away the restrictions today. Against officers having participated
- 20:28Speaker 1: in bestiality. And John Kennedy trying to throw him a bone,
- 20:32Speaker 1: no pun intended, was like, so what do you mean
- 20:36Speaker 1: by this? Because surely you don't mean that if a
- 20:38Speaker 1: guy fucked a chicken, he could still be in the FBI.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And then Kash Patel not understanding that John Kennedy was like.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Trying to be on his side.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Was like, this is exactly what it means. This is
- 20:47Speaker 1: exactly what it means. And it's also for people who
- 20:48Speaker 1: are victims of bestiality who are.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Oh, Jesus.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That was like, he really kind of got over. He
- 20:54Speaker 1: got out over his skis on that one. But you
- 20:56Speaker 1: know what?
- 20:56Speaker 2: I'm going to cover.
- 20:57Speaker 1: My dog's ears for this.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Sorry, Walter.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Don't worry. Neither Kash Patel nor Kristi Noem can get
- 21:01Speaker 1: you in here, Walter.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I would love to just be proud of these cabinet members.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Or not know who they are at all.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Or not know who they are and just go like, oh,
- 21:09Speaker 2: I haven't heard about the FBI in four years. Or, yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 2: it's just all a big reality show.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Another video that was popping off this week was
- 21:19Speaker 1: two New York politicians who both are very good at
- 21:22Speaker 1: using social media.
- 21:23Speaker 2: It's true.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Mamdani, Zoran Mamdani and Curtis Sliwa both got flu shots
- 21:28Speaker 1: this week.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Nice. Zoran Mamdani, the mayor, holding Curtis Sliwa's hand.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yes. Sliwa was nervous about getting a flu shot.
- 21:36Speaker 2: That's very sweet.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And so Mamdani went with him. And it's like a
- 21:39Speaker 1: very sweet video. I mean, Curtis Sliwa is like kind
- 21:43Speaker 1: of an unhinged weirdo, but I do like him as
- 21:45Speaker 1: like a mascot. I don't think he should ever hold
- 21:48Speaker 1: elected office, but I like that he's the kind of
- 21:50Speaker 1: guy that we can have around. Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I mean, that's kind of how I felt about Trump.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I liked that he was in the Republican debate. He's
- 21:59Speaker 2: sort of a weird avatar. Yeah, it was like kind
- 22:01Speaker 2: of a fun character to have as long as he
- 22:04Speaker 2: didn't bode any real power. And now we see what
- 22:07Speaker 2: happens when, you know.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 2: But Curtis Lee, I always give him credit. I mean,
- 22:11Speaker 2: when I turn on the news at 7 a.m. and
- 22:13Speaker 2: he's like at the live show, media hit, I'm like,
- 22:17Speaker 2: this guy wakes up every day doing this shit.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, he lives for this. He's 100% sincere. He's
- 22:22Speaker 1: wearing that beret.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:24Speaker 1: 100% sincerely. And so they got flu shots. And I
- 22:27Speaker 1: always think it's nice when there's like a more conservative
- 22:29Speaker 1: politician who's like, you should get a flu shot. You
- 22:30Speaker 1: should get vaccinated.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Correct. I think the imagery of elected officials supporting science
- 22:36Speaker 2: is a great one.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I agree. I agree. I got A few years ago,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I got a flu shot at like the CVS inside
- 22:42Speaker 1: of a Target. And I was ahead of these two,
- 22:46Speaker 1: a mom and her two little like five and six-year-old
- 22:48Speaker 1: girls who were visibly very scared about getting shots. And
- 22:53Speaker 1: their mom was like, it'll be okay. Like they do
- 22:55Speaker 1: this all the time. And the pharmacist was like, do
- 22:59Speaker 1: you mind, like, can they watch you so they can
- 23:01Speaker 1: see you get a shot? No, it's not a big deal.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And I was like, absolutely not. No problem. And for
- 23:06Speaker 1: whatever reason, it is the most painful shot I've ever gotten.
- 23:11Speaker 1: They must have just hit me at exactly the right
- 23:13Speaker 1: angle because they stuck me. But I was like, these
- 23:15Speaker 1: two little girls need to get their flu shot. So
- 23:17Speaker 1: I had to be like, oh, it was not a
- 23:20Speaker 1: problem at all. It feels kind of good, actually. And
- 23:24Speaker 1: then every shot I've had since then has been fine.
- 23:26Speaker 1: It was just that one where I was on the
- 23:27Speaker 1: spot that was a nightmare.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Well, I think older kids who aren't getting vaxxed as
- 23:32Speaker 2: much Are more afraid of shots.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Which is something my pediatrician said when the COVID vaccine
- 23:40Speaker 2: came out. Some of these kids were coming in for
- 23:42Speaker 2: the first time. Keep in mind, the vast majority of
- 23:46Speaker 2: children are getting vaccinated. Yes. But the ones that weren't
- 23:49Speaker 2: were terrified of a needle and they were like 11
- 23:51Speaker 2: years old.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:52Speaker 2: It's like, oh, gosh.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I support vaccines and I need to get my flu shot.
- 23:58Speaker 1: OK, let's look ahead to the stories that we're probably
- 24:00Speaker 1: going to be talking about next week. The midterms are
- 24:03Speaker 1: kicking into gear and Trump is on tour. Trump is
- 24:06Speaker 1: on like a cross-country tour. He's doing rallies, I think,
- 24:09Speaker 1: every day this week or at least three days.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Trump's in Nebraska.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Fourth rally in five days. Unbelievable.
- 24:15Speaker 1: The stamina on this guy, especially because isn't it? Is
- 24:19Speaker 1: Nebraska at play? I guess they split their electoral college votes,
- 24:22Speaker 1: so I wonder if their two senators are split also.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Thank you for knowing that, Nicole.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Oh, thank you.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Because there's two states that do that.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't remember the other one. I know Nebraska
- 24:32Speaker 1: splits theirs.
- 24:35Speaker 2: I'm going to say New Hampshire.
- 24:36Speaker 1: That sounds right. Everybody at home, Google it on your own.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Google it on your time. This is our podcast.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I have a second guess if it's not New Hampshire.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Okay, wait. Alan's looking it up.
- 24:45Speaker 2: It would not be Colorado because you would know that.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Correct.
- 24:47Speaker 2: There's two states, Maine and Nebraska.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Maine.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I was close. I was close.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Just one state off. Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 2: That's great.
- 24:56Speaker 1: So he's traveling around.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:59Speaker 1: There's also been a lot of polling that shows like
- 25:01Speaker 1: or not polling. There's also been a lot of stories
- 25:03Speaker 1: that have been like these Republican candidates are trying to
- 25:08Speaker 1: get Trump not to talk about them. Right. Because he's
- 25:11Speaker 1: so unpopular right now that he's like tanking their campaigns.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I know.
- 25:15Speaker 2: I just never know what to think about all this.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I don't trust it at all.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I just want it's like what I want is not
- 25:22Speaker 2: always what it is. I hope I hope that America.
- 25:27Speaker 2: opens its eyes and pays attention to the bribery that's happening,
- 25:33Speaker 2: to the... Jeez, I just think Donald Trump has only
- 25:37Speaker 2: helped himself in this election, not the average American person.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I feel like every election that I have watched for
- 25:45Speaker 1: the past 10 or 15 years, everybody's been like, this
- 25:49Speaker 1: could finally be the year that Democrats flip Texas. And
- 25:52Speaker 1: then everybody gets their hopes up and they never do.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And it feels like a Lucy with the football situation.
- 25:58Speaker 1: So I'm choosing to be pessimistic until proven otherwise.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Pessimistic, but still registering to vote and voting.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yes. Do that. Don't let the system defeat you. Stay
- 26:10Speaker 2: voting and be pleasantly surprised when it happens.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I agree. I agree. Michael, you've also got some good
- 26:15Speaker 1: guests coming on this week. You've got Aaron Sorkin. Yep.
- 26:18Speaker 1: who is here promoting The Social Reckoning.
- 26:20Speaker 2: He wrote and direct The Social Reckoning.
- 26:21Speaker 1: You got Sebastian Stan, who is in the movie Fjord.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Somehow I didn't realize that Sebastian Stan is Romanian from Romania,
- 26:30Speaker 1: and he speaks Romanian in this movie.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yes, and he is a... And I'm halfway through this movie,
- 26:36Speaker 2: and I had to stop it because I needed a
- 26:39Speaker 2: break emotionally. Yes, it's... Yeah. Yes.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:42Speaker 2: It is really well done and really, really... Well done.
- 26:47Speaker 2: And so, yeah, but he plays a Romanian man living in... Norway. Norway.
- 26:52Speaker 1: It's based on a true story.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Oh, is it?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Shit, I was hoping that wasn't the case.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Get to the end of the movie, but it'll all
- 26:58Speaker 1: be fine.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And then on Thursday, Kyle MacLachlan.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah, which, of course, I knew who he was, but
- 27:06Speaker 2: when you read someone's memoir, it's like, oh, yeah, of course. Oh, yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 2: of course. Oh, yeah, of course. And just a really...
- 27:14Speaker 2: fun writer, fun book. I typically would not be one
- 27:20Speaker 2: wanting to read an actor's memoir, but it is very
- 27:24Speaker 2: well done and funny. And you really see the correct
- 27:29Speaker 2: decisions he's made in his career and the terribly awful
- 27:33Speaker 2: decisions he's made in his career, which he's open about,
- 27:35Speaker 2: which I love.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That's great.
- 27:36Speaker 2: That's what a memoir should be.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 1: So these are like I mean, Michael, you kind of got.
- 27:42Speaker 2: A-list celebs all week. I know, I can't fuck it up.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I can't fuck it up. Yeah, don't fuck it up.
- 27:46Speaker 1: The pressure's really on.
- 27:47Speaker 2: No, I love, you know, one of the best parts
- 27:51Speaker 2: of this job, period, is the vast array of different
- 27:56Speaker 2: successful people I get to talk to.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 2: It's very cool.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Hearing from their stories, just getting their energy, their vibe.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 2: When in a million fucking years would I have been
- 28:11Speaker 2: able to talk to those three people? It's like insane.
- 28:13Speaker 2: It's very cool.
- 28:14Speaker 1: It's amazing. I'm excited to watch all of the interviews.
- 28:17Speaker 1: And I'm also excited to finally find out what your
- 28:19Speaker 1: show and tell is.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Because we're onto the daily show and tell. What is
- 28:24Speaker 1: something that you have watched or read or listened to
- 28:27Speaker 1: or have in your pocket that you would like to
- 28:29Speaker 1: show and tell us?
- 28:29Speaker 2: Well, this was sitting in my office and I thought,
- 28:34Speaker 2: Not a lot of writers do I get to actually
- 28:37Speaker 2: reference sports and they know kind of what I'm talking about.
- 28:40Speaker 2: But you actually have a good understanding of sports.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Pretty solid.
- 28:43Speaker 1: The pressure's on now.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Pretty solid. So Tyler, one of our stage guys, gave
- 28:48Speaker 2: me this recently.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Cool.
- 28:51Speaker 2: And I didn't know if anybody knew that tennis balls
- 28:56Speaker 2: used to be white. Did you know this? Interesting.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Why did they become yellow?
- 29:00Speaker 2: They used to be white tennis balls. And let me
- 29:03Speaker 2: just see if this monitor makes it easy for you.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Do you see my shirt?
- 29:08Speaker 1: Oh, because they always wear white.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Is this easier to follow?
- 29:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Is this easier to follow?
- 29:13Speaker 1: This is fascinating.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Is this the best show and tell we've ever had?
- 29:18Speaker 1: You're really leading into the show. So let's hope that
- 29:21Speaker 1: everybody's watching this on YouTube and not listening to it.
- 29:23Speaker 2: When color TV was invented, nobody could track the fucking
- 29:27Speaker 2: white ball. And the whole sport changed to a bright
- 29:32Speaker 2: optic yellow ball. Because of television. Because of television. I thought,
- 29:35Speaker 2: that's interesting. And also, duh, but also good job doing that.
- 29:39Speaker 2: That was a smart change.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Have you ever played with the white balls before?
- 29:43Speaker 2: That's a good question. I don't think I have. And
- 29:45Speaker 2: I think it would be fine, but I think this
- 29:47Speaker 2: would be easier. Okay. Definitely be easier. Yeah. What's an
- 29:50Speaker 2: equivalent in this? Like hockey's Hockey's played with... Hockey's got
- 29:54Speaker 2: the puck.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I mean, I play golf, and I'm... So, like, typically
- 29:59Speaker 1: I'm always, like... I want to be a little bit different. So, like,
- 30:02Speaker 1: with golf, I'll try to pick, like, a colorful ball,
- 30:05Speaker 1: but then you just can't find them. So, like, the
- 30:07Speaker 1: white stands out against the dark green better.
- 30:09Speaker 2: But I think an optic yellow ball is fun.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I've played with those before.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's also fun to play with a pink ball every
- 30:13Speaker 2: once in a while.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but sometimes you lose them. When I was caddying,
- 30:17Speaker 1: my first job was... I was a caddie. Okay. And
- 30:20Speaker 1: you used to have to... Like, part of your job
- 30:21Speaker 1: was to, like, watch... where people's balls went so they
- 30:24Speaker 1: could find them. And whenever somebody played with a ball
- 30:27Speaker 1: that was hard to see, it was like a nightmare,
- 30:29Speaker 1: especially because I was also 14 and I should not
- 30:31Speaker 1: have had that job.
- 30:32Speaker 2: That's kind of the job of the caddy. It's like,
- 30:35Speaker 2: you know, it's next to the tree under the thing.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah. So anyways, you know, I thought we weren't going
- 30:40Speaker 2: to talk about tennis today. We talked about it a
- 30:42Speaker 2: lot last time, but I thought, you know, isn't that interesting?
- 30:45Speaker 2: It's also nice to see when people make, when sports
- 30:48Speaker 2: and organizations make adjustments for the better.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 1: How is your ankle situation going to impact tennis? I
- 30:57Speaker 1: assume not well.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Terribly.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I mean, I love playing tennis and I play tennis
- 31:02Speaker 2: and I have not injured my ankle playing tennis in
- 31:05Speaker 2: 10 years. It's always hiking now. It's bowling. It's bowling
- 31:09Speaker 2: and hiking. It's largely bowling-based injuries. I should say there
- 31:11Speaker 2: were a few beers involved.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I think it's the bowling thing. More than the beers, probably.
- 31:17Speaker 2: What is your show and tell? And if it's showing
- 31:19Speaker 2: that tennis balls used to be white, I am incredibly sorry.
- 31:22Speaker 1: That's not mine. I am. For better or worse, using
- 31:25Speaker 1: show and tell for a little bit of self-promotion because
- 31:28Speaker 1: the new season of my podcast just dropped this week.
- 31:31Speaker 1: It's called The Climate Denier's Playbook. I co-host it with
- 31:34Speaker 1: Raleigh Williams, who's the creator of the Climate Town YouTube channel.
- 31:37Speaker 1: We just put out an episode about the White House
- 31:39Speaker 1: released an AI video about the auto start stop feature
- 31:43Speaker 1: in cars where almost everything in the video is wrong.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So we put that out. We're doing an episode about
- 31:48Speaker 1: AI next week. So there's never been a better time
- 31:50Speaker 1: to subscribe to the podcast.
- 31:52Speaker 2: It's called The Climate.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Deniers Playbook, where in every episode we sort of break
- 31:56Speaker 1: down a different kind of climate myth or piece of
- 31:58Speaker 1: misinformation that people in power use to stop us from
- 32:02Speaker 1: fighting the climate crisis.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Love that. And we just need to care and pay
- 32:09Speaker 2: more attention to our climate.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what it comes down to is like we
- 32:12Speaker 1: have a lot of the technological and ecological solutions and
- 32:15Speaker 1: the problems are largely political and cultural.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it does seem like, to be optimistic, technology and
- 32:23Speaker 2: some of the development is quite amazing.
- 32:27Speaker 1: There's a lot of amazing stuff. And the Earth is
- 32:29Speaker 1: quite resilient. Yes. So if we put in the work
- 32:33Speaker 1: to help it, a lot of things can bounce back.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Not everything, but there's still so much that we can save.
- 32:40Speaker 2: And I do think the Earth is going to win.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Ultimately, yes.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I don't think we're going to win.
- 32:44Speaker 1: The floating rock in space will be here for a
- 32:46Speaker 1: lot longer than us. But it would be nice if
- 32:48Speaker 1: we created a, you know, habitable place for us while
- 32:51Speaker 1: we're here. Yes.
- 32:53Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting talking about how we started here.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I was at the Natural History Museum yesterday learning about
- 32:58Speaker 2: the asteroid that knocked out the dinosaurs, but not the sharks.
- 33:04Speaker 2: And there's this whole exhibit on all the other times
- 33:06Speaker 2: in Earth's history that we've had a near-life.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Blackout cataclysmic we've had a lot you know we've had
- 33:14Speaker 3: like eight in the last 600 million years or something
- 33:19Speaker 3: and i just am watching all this going oh it's
- 33:20Speaker 3: gonna happen to us too if we don't do anything
- 33:22Speaker 3: it's just gonna happen to.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Us well life finds a way yeah so it'll.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Be eventually some seed will sprout but yeah let's make
- 33:27Speaker 2: it better for our kids how about that yeah.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I think that's something we can all agree on yes
- 33:32Speaker 1: uh unless you work at the oil companies yes um
- 33:36Speaker 1: right walter Walter's ready to go back to sleep.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he is. There you go, buddy. All right.
- 33:43Speaker 1: That is all the time that we have for the pre-cap.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I have been Nicole Conlon, and you can catch Michael
- 33:48Speaker 1: Kosta hosting all this week on Comedy Central, Paramount +,
- 33:52Speaker 1: or right here at the Daily Show Ears Edition.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I'm Michael Kosta. Which one's easier to follow?
- 33:58Speaker 1: If you're listening to the Ears Edition, he's holding the
- 34:02Speaker 1: tennis balls again. Oh, yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I should explain that.
