- 0:15where we talked about a little bit of it all.
- 0:18And a lot of these topics that I bring into light to anybody that's out there that is listening.
- 0:25I said a lot of these topics come from experience, things that I experienced,
- 0:28conversations all this good stuff
- 0:31that happens in this world what's going on oh we
- 0:34making it happen let's go once again hit
- 0:37the like share comment little donation button somewhere it might some subscription
- 0:44and hey listen we got a little uh interesting topic here because it's a little
- 0:50conversation and and if you're listening to this podcast and just subscribing
- 0:55and this is the first time,
- 0:56whatever it is, there's a lot of motivational things that I do and a lot of
- 1:01things that I talked about, it's all in the mind, starts with the mind.
- 1:05As they already know, wherever the mind goes, the body follows.
- 1:10So if you're not feeding the mind right,
- 1:13if you're having negative thoughts, if you're always something going on with
- 1:17your life, sadly, the body's going to kind of drag and just sometimes just give
- 1:22up and be like, Girl, you know,
- 1:24I don't know if you could do it You know what, go ahead, man Do your thing,
- 1:28you know what I mean Go, go, go
- 1:30But you know, we want peace We're like mentally, physically, spiritually.
- 1:35We're all walking in the realm And we all want to take care of ourselves Somewhere,
- 1:40somehow Especially if we can And we should, obviously,
- 1:45But one of the topics that I keep hearing And it's an interesting one Because
- 1:50it's one where I'm just going to talk about And especially what I've experienced
- 1:55And where it comes from And basically one of the things And the other day I'm
- 2:00over here Doing the networking in my socials,
- 2:04And somebody brought up.
- 2:05But they said that, why is it that healthy food costs more than junk food?
- 2:11And you know what? That's an interesting question because I've heard this so
- 2:15many times and I've heard so many people that want to do that little thing.
- 2:20Want to take that step or the right step to say, you know what?
- 2:24Let me take care of myself. Let me do something.
- 2:27But it's a little asterisk. And, you know, when you said but,
- 2:30sadly, the statement that comes before, you know, it will notify.
- 2:35I want to be healthy, but what does that mean?
- 2:39So it is true. And then we are going to kind of explore a couple of things because
- 2:45there's a couple of factors that come in that when people say that,
- 2:48hey, trying to be healthy is expensive.
- 2:52And I agree to a certain extent. Because a lot of times I tend to question,
- 2:57you got to ask yourself, what is actually healthy for you? Eating fruits, more vegetables.
- 3:03Let's say if you're someone who enjoys the meat or whatever the case,
- 3:06what is certain meats that you can afford?
- 3:09Let's say pork, chicken, turkey, you know what I mean?
- 3:13Let's say for some reason, hey, people like to bring in, they like to kind of
- 3:17work out, bring in that little beef, you know, a little extra protein.
- 3:21There's those people that dabble on the pecao, you know, the fish,
- 3:26all that good stuff, the shrimp.
- 3:28Some people are allergic to shellfish. Hey, how I feel for you, man.
- 3:33You're missing out, but hey, I get it. I get it.
- 3:36So people just want to do the, you know, the veggie thing. Can you get the most
- 3:40out of veggies? Absolutely.
- 3:42Can you get protein as much as meat? Hey, absolutely you can.
- 3:48There's a lot of things and there's a lot of factors.
- 3:51So let's go in and let me just give you an idea because you have to factor a
- 3:57couple of things and many things when it comes to why trying to eat healthy
- 4:02or healthy food is more expensive.
- 4:05Again, you got to ask the question, what exactly do you mean by healthy?
- 4:08What exactly it is that you want to accomplish that you said to yourself,
- 4:12okay, for weeks and months and years, all I've been eating is chips,
- 4:17chips, chips, because I love chips, but I want to go healthy,
- 4:21but we have an alternative.
- 4:23Now, what's interesting is this, that I went to my social and I posted these two pictures.
- 4:29And again, another factor comes in, you know, the means, the budget,
- 4:33how many people you got to feed.
- 4:35If it's you by yourself, if it's somebody else, if you have a family,
- 4:39if you're a single mother, single parent, whatever it is.
- 4:42You know, if it's two people and then there's only one provider,
- 4:45you know, there's so many factors.
- 4:48So when I went online and I posted two things.
- 4:52A family-sized potato chip from a big company, I ain't going to name it.
- 4:56Because, hey, you know, the company ain't paying me or anything like that.
- 5:00But no, it's actually a big bag of Doritos. Oh, we love the Doritos.
- 5:05A lot of us grew up with Doritos. A lot of us grew up with junk food, basically.
- 5:10If you're in America, and if you are somewhere in another country,
- 5:15listening from whatever country you're from, from the other side of 10,000 hours away.
- 5:21America loves junk food And what's interesting is this,
- 5:25Even throughout the world Where there are parts that are healthy But even throughout
- 5:30the world Hey, listen, there's a lot of American companies Like Frito-Lays,
- 5:35whatever it is That does Doritos,
- 5:37And people love that little munchie That cheese flavor They got the ranch They
- 5:43got a barbecue They got an old type of Dorito flavors,
- 5:46So I posted on thing of family size, a bag of Doritos.
- 5:50Now, Dorito is like, you know, the big one. You know what I mean?
- 5:54But that bag of chips is like $8. Now, when I posted on the,
- 5:59how can I say to you, the supermarket where I got this as a supermarket that
- 6:05I actually buy from, it was on special, $7.
- 6:10But if it was on special, it was family size, big size, $8.
- 6:15Now, I know a lot of people that don't have family, Whatever the case might
- 6:19be They be buying these big bags I tell people you don't need those big bags
- 6:23man Because then you're going to continue eating them You know a lot of these
- 6:27junk food got certain things That you know they're going to keep you,
- 6:30Addictive And then I grab Let's say what was it A bag of pistachio I love pistachios
- 6:39But a bag of spinach They were on special,
- 6:44$3.50 $3.50 Now, keep in mind, I'm in New York City, so these prices might vary
- 6:50depending on the supermarket, depending on where you're around,
- 6:53depending on where you're at.
- 6:56But the fact is this. Now, spinach is very, very versatile.
- 7:02You can eat spinach like that, put a little bit of dressing.
- 7:05You can make spinach. You can cut it. You can do so many things.
- 7:08As a matter of fact, you could bake spinach, get it a little,
- 7:11how can I say, a little crunchy thing if you want to or you're addicted to the crunch.
- 7:17Because a lot of these food, these junk food, they got certain things that trigger
- 7:22that thing, like that crunchiness.
- 7:24Boom, let's go to Doritos. chips let's go you know
- 7:28there's people that like those only chips that when you put your hand
- 7:31in it your hands is just basically oil matter of
- 7:34fact if they get hot enough you put an egg you fry in the oil you like right
- 7:38there with your fingertips i'm just saying but the fact that there are those
- 7:43things and again keep in mind everybody's background is going to be different
- 7:48based on how we grew up based on the means especially the budget the budget is definitely big.
- 7:54But it is possible to actually eat healthy. Now, in New York City, right?
- 8:00Or if you are at least close to New York City or you're visiting because you
- 8:04got family in New York City, do be a favor.
- 8:07Now, take this with a grain of salt, but I got to show love to some of my fruit
- 8:12vendors somewhere down the line where they just got a little nice tent and they
- 8:17sell a lot of good stuff, fruits, vegetables, for a low, low, low price.
- 8:22And I kid you not, for $20, I could get a whole week full of goodies, fruits, vegetables.
- 8:31Sometimes they got different stuff going on there.
- 8:34What's that? Wait, listen, what's that? What kind of food is that? Where you from?
- 8:39Got these people from different backgrounds, different countries,
- 8:41but they bring the good stuff.
- 8:43So you live in New York City, if you live in New York City,
- 8:46if you're visiting New York city ask one of the
- 8:49peoples that you're around now if you don't got a fruit
- 8:52stand then i don't know where you at you're not
- 8:54in new york city you see them a lot they do off for
- 8:57good prices but again the grain of salt would be you know whether they got license
- 9:02i i don't know i'm just saying because sometimes i've seen stuff where a little
- 9:08uh strawberries little uh box of strawberries It'd be like $2 compared to, let's say,
- 9:15you go to the supermarket. It'd be like $4 or $5.
- 9:18But then you buy those $2 strawberry.
- 9:21Out of 20 strawberries, you could only eat 10. I'm just saying.
- 9:25And then in the supermarket, they all look fresh.
- 9:28They all look. So that's another thing, too.
- 9:30You got to get a bang for your dollar.
- 9:33Just because something is cheap, it doesn't mean that you're going to get a bang for your dollar.
- 9:39And I'm just saying. And also the other thing, too. What exactly it is,
- 9:43once again That you want to do That you want to say I want to start eating healthy.
- 9:49Now, there's people that are close to Walmart. Hey, listen, I get it.
- 9:53Walmart is this big corporation that does this. Boom, bam, boom.
- 9:57But hey, listen, if you're somebody who wants to eat healthy,
- 10:00maybe going to a Walmart.
- 10:02If you're close to a Walmart, Target, one of these big stores that now sells
- 10:06groceries. Who would have thought?
- 10:09I remember 20 years ago, you go to Target, bought TVs, bought VCRs, you know, DVD plays.
- 10:17And you could buy food.
- 10:19Same as Walmart, you know what I mean? Who would have thought on a black fighter?
- 10:23You go to Walmart and you could grab a nice big TV for $100 and you could just
- 10:30go to the grocery section in Walmart and go and get food.
- 10:34And not a bad price. The only thing with a grain of salt.
- 10:39What exactly that these companies are doing to sacrifice to make sure that you
- 10:43get that food for a lesser price?
- 10:46Why does that chicken look a little bit little?
- 10:49You know, I think I seen the movie Chicken Little, but seeing a little chicken,
- 10:53that's a whole different story.
- 10:55And that's the thing that you also have to keep in mind.
- 10:58Now, the other thing that sneaks in, especially, again, and I'm speaking,
- 11:03or I'm going to say in my point of view, in New York City, and this happened a lot.
- 11:08Give me a shout out. Give me an amen. Give me a little comment if this happened.
- 11:12You go out there and you do takeout, $30, $40.
- 11:15There are restaurants out there in New York City that give you food in abundance.
- 11:20That some of this food could probably last like two, even three days, depending.
- 11:25If you're one of those type of people that don't mind eating,
- 11:28how can I say, leftovers?
- 11:30That's why there's microwave. That's why there's other places.
- 11:33I mean, other means to reheat the food.
- 11:37I got an air fry. It has a button that says reheat. I put aluminum. I put something.
- 11:41I put my leftover. Boom. Five or six minutes later, I'm like,
- 11:45yo, this actually tastes better than when I first bought it. That happens a lot.
- 11:50But even if I go 20 years ago, let's say, be surrounded here in New York City
- 11:56once again, I'm pretty sure all the big cities and maybe little cities,
- 12:00little towns, are we called a chicken spot.
- 12:03I can't imagine how these chicken spots, decent prices, even though,
- 12:08you know, price had gone up a little bit, you know what I mean?
- 12:11But the fact, let's say two people, with $20 back then, you could have probably
- 12:16fed or you could have probably done the little bit of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- 12:22With maybe $20, $20, $25. I'm just saying 20 years ago.
- 12:26Yeah, I was a party boy. Let's go. I was chill with my peoples.
- 12:31I was tagging on with somebody. Boom, $20. Yo, we doing it. Let's go. We got chicken.
- 12:36We got a little salad. You go all in the chicken spot. Chicken spot,
- 12:40hey, listen. They're very underrated. They got all that good stuff.
- 12:43But the fact that, you know, what it is, the chicken that they sell is fried chicken.
- 12:48And fried chicken got that little, you know, that little fat that you're enjoying,
- 12:52drinking and all that good stuff, doing that little schmo, whatever it is that
- 12:56you're doing, that stuff hits.
- 12:59And you don't got to cook anything. That's another thing, another factor that
- 13:03I've encountered is that when it comes to healthy food, you know,
- 13:07you just can't grab just healthy food and just be like, okay,
- 13:11I'm going to eat it right there.
- 13:13You could do this with junk. You could open a can or process whatever it is.
- 13:18And then boom voila but process sometimes i mean can process but sometimes the
- 13:23healthy food let's say the spinach
- 13:26whatever it is the veggies you know it takes time to cook to make it,
- 13:31you know the chicken that that grilled chicken you know you got the little nice
- 13:36uh turkey press going on boom boom boom again that's all time consuming they
- 13:41could all be done like in 10 15 no more than 20 minutes.
- 13:44But sometimes that's that factor that some people just want to be able to eat
- 13:50quick when they're starving.
- 13:51And a lot of times junk food eating out, it's the most convenient and in the fastest way to eat.
- 13:59Now, what is, is there a good replacement for, let's say, I love chips.
- 14:04Are there other alternatives out there to eat healthy chips? Ah, sure.
- 14:10Now, again, I just want to take a lot of things especially things that are labeled
- 14:14organic, you know, festival chips, whatever.
- 14:16You always want to, you know, take those things to an arena, you know what I mean?
- 14:22To get you that label, oh, natural, you know, we only use natural oil.
- 14:27What does that mean, natural oil?
- 14:28Damn, what does that mean? There's like a cloud of oil that just once,
- 14:32you know, hovers around your factory only and then you just grab some of that
- 14:35oil. You know, what does that mean?
- 14:38And again, it's a lot of factors that go into why people feel that way that they,
- 14:44why is uh and it is true again and not trying to say anything but I don't want
- 14:49people to get discouraged to say just because,
- 14:53just because this is expensive I can't buy it so why should you just go out
- 15:00and buy junk food now I'll go back to the bag of chips that bag of chips family
- 15:04says depending on how many people could probably last weeks,
- 15:09you know if you close the properly, boom, you're going to have some crunchy chips for a long time.
- 15:15That pack of spinach, you know, it's perishable. So you got to probably eat it within a time frame.
- 15:22And that's why, you know, I say that, you know, when it comes to,
- 15:25let's say, spinach, spinach is very versatile.
- 15:30Another thing, too, what happens is this. There's a lot of healthy food and
- 15:35good food that has that protein that's going to keep you full.
- 15:39And I think a lot of people kind of forget how protein plays a lot to,
- 15:44you know, our lifestyle, what we eat.
- 15:48And when it comes to, you know, again, chips, cookies, all this sweet stuff,
- 15:52even sugar plays a part that keeps you eating that junk.
- 15:56Is that a lot of these junk food don't have protein. So what you do,
- 16:00you keep consuming, consuming, consuming.
- 16:02And you might say, well, why buy these bag of chips? Because they want special for $2.
- 16:06Again, keep in mind, a lot of people have cell phones.
- 16:11And I'll throw a little information here. There's an app called Juca.
- 16:16And I've mentioned this before, and I mentioned this to my, you know, people that I know.
- 16:20Y-U-K-A, it's, I believe it's on the, you know, it's definitely on the Apple,
- 16:24Android, if I'm not mistaken.
- 16:27And you know what this Yuka app does Is that if you go to a supermarket And
- 16:30you scan it And it kind of tells you Hey is it good, bad It has whatever it
- 16:35is that is good Whatever it is that is bad,
- 16:37And that's why sometimes I say to myself And I tell people Just because this
- 16:42generic brand Has the same so-called ingredients As this brand And it's $2 extra,
- 16:49It doesn't mean that it's the same,
- 16:51Trust me I've seen a pack of something cookies Let's say I'm a big.
- 16:57Oatmeal raisin cookie guy. Woo!
- 17:00Hey, I love me those cookies. Cookies!
- 17:04But I could buy a cheap whatever generic brand and then I could buy certain
- 17:09brands that they say, listen, me got all the good stuff in this cookie and it's a big difference.
- 17:16But then I can see, I can understand why that comes into the fact of why,
- 17:22you know, I can say junk food is cheaper because now you see it as a,
- 17:27at least it's an old milk cookie. That's what my kids want to eat.
- 17:31You know what? It's only $2, a whole pack.
- 17:34You know, they can't tell the difference, you know, because they're little kids, which is true.
- 17:38You know, sometimes, you know, our parents, whoever adults, they fed us some
- 17:44junk food. We couldn't even tell, but we loved it.
- 17:46But that's what we grew up in. That's why we gravitate to junk food.
- 17:50Once we see something that's a little bit more money than what we was eating,
- 17:55nah, you know, that's expensive.
- 17:58But again, it all comes into the mean. So there's little factors as well.
- 18:01And I told people, hey, listen, if you want to help each other out,
- 18:04go out there, share what supermarket you went to that they got the special.
- 18:09What did you buy for a certain amount?
- 18:12Can you, one, let's say, single person, weekend, $20.
- 18:17Can you buy groceries for $20? Yeah, you could buy the eggs.
- 18:20Let's say eggs, you know, the prices go up and down, you know,
- 18:25from $5 to $8 to $9 to $10, whatever it is.
- 18:29You could always buy a pack of chicken. How can I say this?
- 18:33These chicken drumsticks, the thighs, a lot of food, you know,
- 18:37certain food that people could, you know, you could get a pack or six pack of
- 18:40chicken legs, whatever it is, for $3 or $4.
- 18:43So, you know, there's a little bit of alternatives there. There's other factors.
- 18:47Again, it all depends also on what exactly you want to eat, what you need to move for.
- 18:52And, you know, are you a type of person that they say, oh, I can't do this. I can't eat that.
- 18:56So let me know what you think. It's an interesting thing, and I'm just going
- 19:00out there, and I'm telling the person, just go out there.
- 19:03Share your information. If you're in a socials and you got a lot of people and
- 19:07you want to help out people, it doesn't hurt.
- 19:08It doesn't hurt. Hey, listen, I'll show you a little receipt when you want to.
- 19:12There's a special. Listen, we're all here. There's certain supermarkets that
- 19:16I know, or certain supermarkets that I know especially, that sometimes we have like 50% off certain.
- 19:24They added like the stake that normally like $16, 50% off, $88, $8. You know what I mean?
- 19:31And I'm like, you know what? Let me grab it. Now, again, a lot of specials,
- 19:35they all come in because either things are expired or my understanding is that,
- 19:40let's say the name of that company, whatever the brand is, they want the supermarket
- 19:44to sell this at a certain price so they could restock, bring new orders, hey, by all means.
- 19:50And sometimes that's another thing too. And I hope that in the United States
- 19:53they fix the, you know, the Best Buy, expire, whatever it is. You already know.
- 19:59You will know when something expires, either the taste of it,
- 20:02how it look, or whatever the case.
- 20:05There's some cookies that say, oh, it expires in two months or a month. You buy those cookies.
- 20:10And then because if they expire, there's like half of them left,
- 20:13and you throw them out, hey, grab a bite. I mean, I'm just saying.
- 20:17I know people are afraid to be like, oh, I don't want to, you know,
- 20:20taste that something that has expired.
- 20:22Might give me a stomachache. Even the most healthiest and the most freshest
- 20:27food, if it has fiber, hey, you'll be using a bathroom. I'm just saying.
- 20:32Don't think something expired. That means that it's bad. You'll know it's bad
- 20:36when you start seeing little extra colors there. You'll be like, ah.
- 20:40But anyways, hit the like, comment. Let me know what's going on.
- 20:44Share all that good information in you out there. Like I said, in your socials.
- 20:48Put it out there. Let the world know. Hey, 50% off, 80% off.
- 20:52Have we up? $2 eggs come and go. Let's get it. Let's make it happen.
- 20:58It's a Deconstructing Topic Podcast, and I'm out. Peace.
