Lake Austin Open, But Other Waters Stay Closed | Texas News
Lake Austin is open for boating and jet skis starting Saturday evening — a welcome return to the water. But don’t head to Lady Bird Lake or the Colorado River south of Longhorn Dam until Monday evening; floodgates are still releasing high flows, making those areas unsafe for kayaks, motorboats, and even swimming. Strong currents, hidden debris, and elevated bacteria levels after recent storms are the main concerns. Riverfront trails are also risky — stay away.
