- 0:22SPEAKER_00: There are a lot of advantages to being an introverted writer.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: You enjoy being alone, which is a big benefit when trying to finish your writing.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: You'd mostly rather spend time with books than with people, which can help you dive deeply into literature and learning.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: You'd rather observe than participate, which can help you approach life like a journalist or a researcher.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: However, all that being said, the same strengths that help you become a great writer can also make it hard for you to build an audience, which is something that every writer has to do.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: So, here in this very short episode today, I want to give you three quick tips for building an audience.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: And this is specifically for introverted writers.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Tip number one, don't be afraid to put yourself and your writing out there.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You know, life is not all about observing others or writing about other people's experiences.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: We want to hear what you have experienced and what you have to say about your topic.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So in order to do that, you've got to put yourself out there and have some new experiences.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Tip number two, get out there and have some real conversations with actual people.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: You know, as introverts, we live in our heads and we avoid life in the real world sometimes.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: But this is where the action happens.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: I encourage you not to think of people as just being exhausting.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to also think of people as your best teachers and the reason that you do what you do.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, after all, we do what we do because ultimately it's for people.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And finally, tip number three is don't overanalyze this process.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to just start writing and course correct as you go, as you try to build your author platform or your career.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: You have to let go of the need to be perfect and have everything figured out.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Just relax, just get to work and just know that you're intelligent enough and you will figure it out as you go along.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: You know, your greatest strength can also be your greatest weakness.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: That's definitely true of me.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Don't get sucked into the lie that people are the enemy.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: You're there to serve people, enjoy people, and also to learn from them.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Choose one of these three tips that I've mentioned today and put it into practice immediately.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Don't wait.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Don't get paralyzed and don't overanalyze it.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Just pick one of the tips and do it.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And I think it's really going to help you.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: A big thanks to today's sponsor, Plotter.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Plotter is a tool that I'm currently using to write my very first fiction book.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: More on that in a few months when I'm a little further down the road, probably.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Plotter is the number one visual book planning software for writers that helps you plan books in the same way that you think.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Plotter's intuitive visual interface allows plotting to be the creative process that it's supposed to be.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: And it's not just for fiction writers, it's also a great tool for nonfiction authors, speakers, podcasters, and pretty much anybody who's creating content to help you organize your material and story points.
