- 9:09[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the drug report is thirty years old.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_04]: How old is news junkie?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_04]: Both of them change the way news is delivered.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_04]: Although the drug report, I think is gone hard and I trumps, so I don't look at it.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_04]: But after noon, you're on the air.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's on Syracuse.com, Jeff, if you take a look, thank you.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I, all right, we'll look at it then.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_04]: We have to be careful here about things because we have pranksters out there.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_04]: and other people who cause problems.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_04]: We will look at Syracuse.com.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_04]: Two brothers from Syracuse found dead in a night of lake.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_04]: Now I'm not.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see if there is a local angle in.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see, Westman, Roner, York, two dead men were found floating in our night-a-lake Wednesday after there was a report of an unmanned boat on three months.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_04]: They must have a three-mile bay down there.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_04]: It's not on night-a-lake.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_04]: So, but, thank you for the call anyway.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_04]: Couple more floaters.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of floaters this week.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_04]: One up in Harrisville, one up in Perishville, or boy, I'll tell you.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_04]: One up in Picton Island.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_04]: We still don't know what happened at Picton Island.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_04]: Well, Picton Island.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_04]: Hmm.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, does that mean you can't go there and bump in grind?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it'll curtail any of that, do you?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't think so either.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_04]: Seven, five, five, twelve, forty of the phone number.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_04]: And watch a little of the new news today.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_04]: I see less shock-leafs filling.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_04]: I think less does a good job.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we also got a press release in the mail.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_04]: From our good friend, Emily Griffin, who's a marketing coordinator for the zoo, New York, Thompson Park.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_04]: You know, well, she's talking about the announcing the dates for a brewed brew with the zoo.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_04]: and i have two of them issue and saturday august sixteen and uh... saturday uh... september thirteen and that's an event where they've got to food vendors live music and uh... all sorts of different beers to try and all of that and uh... there's a local band i can't say the name of it on here because it would be misinterpreted
- 11:57[SPEAKER_04]: Sponsor a sea com or good friends at sea com credit union and many other good folks so There you go.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_04]: It's August sixteenth and September thirteenth both Saturdays brewers the zoo coming up.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_04]: You know Emily there.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_04]: I've said before I don't know her too well.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_04]: I've seen her you see her on channel seven did a wonderful job and we thought like yeah
- 12:23[SPEAKER_04]: You know, when I was reading that proposal from the mayor for reimagining the whole Thompson Park, and then we see the Mr. North Rift, the golf club manager leaving, she would be a good person to put in there sort of a park car or whatever overseer promoted, whatever.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_04]: And as we transition, maybe the zoo into something different, whether it be a petting zoo or whatever, as we, and the golf club,
- 12:52[SPEAKER_04]: I might need a few lessons on how to set up tournaments, but I'm sure she could learn and other things too, to promote.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_04]: She seems to be able to write a press release, which is actually better than the previous PR people up there have done over the years.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think that would be am I wrong in trying to promote a talented local person to come in and do that?
- 13:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_04]: And she could live in the house up there, so she'd be living in a city, right?
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: just a thought just a thought don't take it seriously don't I don't want to get her in trouble or anything like that I was reading the water town post you haven't read that it's kind of interesting yeah it's the uh... let's see somebody just texted me something you said
- 13:56[SPEAKER_04]: uh... well i don't know about somebody sending the zoo a picture of a mink wondering if it was and they were told it was a fisher i don't know i mean i don't know about those kind of controversies i'm just trying to make suggestions that are helpful just suggestions that are helpful
- 14:20[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody, oh, I was waiting to water down post to the front.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know the front door of City Hall's permanently closed.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_04]: Sighting safety concerns according to Council member Olny.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it was never a convenient way to get into City Hall anyway.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_04]: The side doors more convenient, but whether you're a defendant or somebody else, but still, I mean, it's too bad that the front door isn't open anymore.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: There's always more of a tendency to want to isolate the administrative state from the great unwashed, I think, sometimes.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_04]: So that's close down.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_04]: Well, anyway, watertownpost.com, one word, watertownpost.com.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_04]: It's like an alternative little editor, and they do mostly editorials, the fellow editorials.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_04]: mostly in, you know, kind of different observations.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_04]: Again, it's something to supplement your information flow.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_04]: You should be reading news junkie and listening to my blog and listening to the hotline and read the water town post, read the water town daily times, watch channel seven, follow nosy neighbors on Facebook and some other ones.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_04]: If you do all of that, you'll end up with a good overall view of things.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise, you'll be like,
- 15:43[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, you'll be lacking.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_04]: Now, what was that incident at the fair?
- 15:49[SPEAKER_04]: Like, the fair is a great place, don't listen to something about it.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_04]: Just because they had an incident.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_04]: Doesn't mean there is anything wrong.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_04]: And they got some interesting looking rides.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_04]: That one with those chairs that are swinging way out.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_04]: Whoa.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_04]: That looks for the more adventurous.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_04]: But still,
- 16:13[SPEAKER_04]: So to me, it's, you know, the little ducks that float by in the game and you pick one up and see what your prize is.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_04]: That's about my speed.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if they have that anymore.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_04]: And I did get some pictures from a listener.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_04]: I assume she's a listener.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_04]: A good friend.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_04]: And she was down to Lewis County fair and she took pictures of the two major parties.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_04]: Republicans and Democrats had booths there set up.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_04]: And the Democratic booth was nicely laid out with posters and there was somebody sitting there.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_04]: And then the Republican booth was on man that look pretty shabby and I'm saying, he said, they want to win elections.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_04]: They got to tune up their act there.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_04]: just a thought, I don't know, I wasn't there, you know, but this was a Republican woman who sent the photos.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think it was a Democratic plan or anything.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know, it was a comment on something.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's see.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_04]: here's somebody says your park on washing and street and use the front door city hall has to put the big boy pants on and stop being afraid of everything I agree I agree and you know they could easily change that security wall so that you'd have to go through the after walk to the back and then I don't think something could be done but yeah I guess well everybody's
- 17:48[SPEAKER_04]: Security cat now, I guess, and sometimes it's a good reason.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_04]: It was a article the paper this morning about those two homeless places being billed apartment houses, one on grass and a post office, one on Maine Avenue.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_04]: Are they just for homeless people like people with shopping cart homeless?
- 18:05[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I'm all for like providing three hats and a cut for people, you know, and rather make them sit out in the cold in January, but wow.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_04]: You get a brand new apartment and everything.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_04]: People who work can't get that.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what those buildings are or anything.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_04]: But after noon you're on the air.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_04]: Hello.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_07]: Hello.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_07]: I wanted to tell you we're sitting at the fair right now waiting to pick up some tassies.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_07]: And if anybody wants good tassies, they ought to stop.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_04]: okay well that's great i'd taffy is always something that's good and uh... so were those uh... fried dough and i don't know what uh... sausage sandwiches all sorts of good things if to eat at the fair all that good stuff that's right i don't think it's going to rain too bad either so you ought to be able to do it okay well thank you okay by now that's the three mile bay lady methodist
- 19:15[SPEAKER_04]: I saw a story on the news that Coca-Cola is going to change what they put in it for sweeteners from some kind of fruit dose to pure cane sugar.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_04]: Is that better?
- 19:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_04]: I guess it is.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, two bodies floating on.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the dead man were from Syracuse.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_04]: Apparently they have a three mile bay.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how to like to.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_04]: you know what's kind of interesting and I we don't praise Governor Hockel a lot but well we'll do that after the break we'll do a break and then we'll come back with that

- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: That was caused by the homeless people.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: Really?
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I remember he took over the front yard last summer was it?
- 23:59[SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's one of what's about in the city light about it said it's something to security.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: Had to do with the homeless people because I used to walk through and face some bills.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_02]: They've had an issue getting in the front door.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: Got a security guard there to begin with.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even think you can get in the front door with the library here in Mortacom.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: No, not anymore.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say change that.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's another wonderful lobby you can't go in there to the front so you have to go through the side entrance on these buildings.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: I know.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the first couple called if you got a mayor.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: So hang up guys.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know why, probably don't you?
- 24:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it sounded like him.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, go ahead and go.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: Gun can't stand a guy.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: Gun told him off there.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me back on the island.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't been on this show quite a while.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: Let me hear his calls are good, but then he called yesterday with some nonsense at tour.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_04]: All right, yeah, I know it's too bad.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's too bad people play little silly games and it's too bad.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I had a call about the incident up in a park with the speed bump mayor.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: My opinion is if you want to have speed bumps, I agree with you.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: Pull them out of there.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: Just don't need for speed bumps on either one of them crosswalkers.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to go up to five or six days out of the week.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: Never had a truck.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: Never seen anybody crossing there.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: But put in those yellow lights like they use over at the school.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: But you can't see that speed bump sign until you get right on top of it.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: Very small lettering.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 25:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: But this woman not having a helmet on.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: She had a helmet on.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: She probably still be alive.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: Not another issue.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_04]: Possibly.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_04]: We don't know that for sure, but yeah.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_04]: we don't know for sure but the uh... the tumble is still even if you're don't hit your naga and it's still a bad tumble you know the she would a pet died i don't the only way to i mean it's a one one or two day story the only way the media could advance it is if they could get an interview with the uh... husband so you get a better idea exactly what happened
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: before we get finalized on what the family is going to do, but I don't think they're necessary there, Mayor, even the one over on your road over there, I go, I don't think they're necessary, because you're very, sort of, in anybody trying to get across the road there.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's true, and I think people are going to stop for a crosswalker, they're ninety-nine percent of people anyway, sir.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, everybody's got to watch out for everybody.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's very simple.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_04]: But I think the idea, I think I heard there was somebody in the city government who likes speed bumps because they put one down on the road that comes off of the YMCA parking lot down to court.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't really see a need for them on public streets.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_04]: Even in
- 27:00[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, I know they can take them out.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_04]: They're probably just pinned down for winter.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: But, she's, I don't know, I... They're not necessary.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: I had a listen to that single occasion, a woman got killed at, and there probably three of her weeks before she did.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: I was going along coming out of there.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: I hit that speed, but probably twenty-five miles, and I worked totally snap my back, and I got shocked and silver on the back of my vehicle.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_05]: Hmm.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: Two hundred dollar bill.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: the center to the city, but it was my fault, but I can't see the signs it's the writing is so small on those signs.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: You have to get within ten three to read what the sign says.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: But put up like they got a yellow light coming out of that golden street exit going down hill there.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's me.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you can get those lights powered by a solar panel.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, if you're wanted.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: The same thing they do in front of a high school.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: have a slow down your speed another sign they have if you want to push the crosswalk I think most people that stop for crosswalk started big deal well yeah cost me about two hundred bucks for that incident I had I couldn't believe it but I hit it out of my nose like bolt I was going too fast but who knows how fast this lady was going she wasn't there was just coasting so I don't know but I think you're right I don't think they'll move the pull them out now
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: before we find out what uh... well i yeah but uh... you know what i mean it doesn't look good if we do that now and plus cliff only got a uh... complaint from a gentleman uh... jesus on a month before this incident about uh... these speed bumps if you're on a bike yeah there have been uh... there have been questions asked to be e-b bikes anyways mayor i think they should be licensed they got they can go twenty eight twenty nine miles an hour top speed
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's no rules of your city, someone with people would eat me, but hardly get them.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: They're in and on a traffic.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: They don't follow traffic rules very well, most of these people.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_04]: Well, what we think doesn't matter much, so, uh, no.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_04]: Bye now.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_04]: Good afternoon, Ryan.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just curious.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it came in last night for the pounders.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_04]: seven five five twelve forty the phone number if you'd like to give us a call to be on the air today and uh... we'll talk about whatever you want and within the balance of good taste of course uh... let's see uh... yet uh... headlined in the daily news that's a paper in New York city cell phone detox governor hokel says it's time for students and parents to brace for an all day band of she's been pushing us into her credit and we don't praise governor hokel on this show but we will on this because she's right
- 29:58[SPEAKER_04]: uh... this cell phone thing uh... not just in schools but in the workplaces become problematic and i think uh... putting the bell to bell ban in the schools now we won't know how it plays out here because we got like
- 30:10[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, can't even do a new story on it, because there's like thirty five school districts within the channel seven range.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, you don't really know how it's going to play out, but hopefully, though, we'll see, I don't know, that'd be an interesting news story.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what's the planning for this?
- 30:27[SPEAKER_04]: How is it?
- 30:27[SPEAKER_04]: What is going to happen?
- 30:29[SPEAKER_04]: Or do we wait till the first of September and then
- 30:33[SPEAKER_04]: You'll get your usual winers and complainers.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, maybe I know Millie's not on the school board.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe she knows.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_04]: And she could tell us, oh, you know, Jeff Smith's going to be filling in on live at five later this month.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_04]: That's right.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_04]: I just heard that the week of the.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_04]: Twenty eight.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_04]: It's the last week of July.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_04]: We need to land thirty thirty yeah twenty eight through the first Jeff Smith former Mayor Jeff Smith will be filling in on the hotline you don't want to miss that you absolutely don't want to miss that okay all righty uh... but anyway millie maybe she could let us know i don't i don't know what the plans are for the uh... local school districts uh... whatever they do they got to run it by legal first that's what the guy always says up there
- 31:23[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, they do keep their secrets well in the school districts.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_04]: Not the kind of leaking you see it.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of city stuff.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_04]: You don't see all these memos out there or anything.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_04]: We'll say right to many memos at City Hall.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_04]: You ever notice that there's always people that now they complain there's too many.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_04]: Now for a while, freedom of information requests, they can't handle them all.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's get say right to many memos.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_04]: You should never put things in writing.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_04]: Unless it's almost innocuous of stuff unless you're just announcing, you know, a retirement or somebody's birthday or something like that.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_04]: Because these people try to foil them.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_04]: These are the Digis people who you know who they are.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_04]: And I was reading a couple of emails on that topic just today.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_04]: Just today I was reading one.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_04]: And why should I be able to read anybody's emails?
- 32:23[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a talk show host.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_04]: I have no.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: Good afternoon, Ryan the Air.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: Good afternoon, Mayor.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_03]: There's been a lot of discussion about the electric bicycle.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: I was reading.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: I was reading an article on news junkie.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: And they've just made a new law part of DMD.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: Any accident was a electric bike.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: of that causes an accident was injury must be reported to the DMV.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's section six or one, but you know how my memory is.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_03]: But I do know that there is a law thing.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: He likes to have an accident has reported to the DMV.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_04]: I wonder, I don't know.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_04]: Well, why, why would they have to be?
- 33:14[SPEAKER_04]: They're not, they're just bicycles.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm here.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: I tried looking it up and I can't find it.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I... Hmm.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_04]: Well, we don't know how fast these people were going or anything.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_03]: All I'm saying is what I read about.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: That one section of DMV law.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not getting in on the discussion of how fast she was or wasn't going in all the way.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_04]: Right, nor should we?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_03]: Nor should we?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, ma'am.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_03]: You have a very nice day, ma'am.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: No, thank you.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_04]: Bye now.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_04]: But after dinner on the air.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, good afternoon, Jeff.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_07]: How you doing?
- 34:00[SPEAKER_04]: It's the Dough.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_07]: Um, your former employer there, they're going to get their funding cut.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_07]: I was wondering now, how you felt about that.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_04]: Former employer.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_04]: Have I ever had a job?
- 34:11[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, public television.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you don't really know.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to see the, you know, the, the story and the local news about our terrible of theirs, but I don't know what component of the operating budget is federal money for the individual stations.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, times have changed and I hate to say it because, but when I work there,
- 34:37[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you didn't have all the cable penetration and, you know, British TV shows and all of that were like a novelty in people watching them and you, you know, all of that, but times have changed and operating as they do, two transmitters, one in Copenhagen and one up in Norwood or Norfolk area, North, or that's expensive and a question whether all that's needed with today's satellite reception and
- 35:07[SPEAKER_07]: cable and all of that so I don't know I'm not you know I wish him well, but I feel the same way because it's totally the whole scheme is totally different now.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_07]: The other thing is it they should be on pretty good financial footing as it is so they should be able to handle it on their own.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know where their money comes from.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_04]: I'll tell you over.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_04]: at WPBS, they should dig out that old film Charlie and I had with the comedian there, Jerry Seinfeld over at the Golden Lion.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_04]: That'd be a, that'd be priceless if you could on Earth it.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_04]: But all I can say is that I haven't watched public TV in decades.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm not against it, but I don't really have any affinity there.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_04]: And as far as now NPR,
- 36:03[SPEAKER_04]: I do know people you know there are people who listen to it and like a lot of the shows, but I don't know what they're how they're funding.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_04]: All these places have commercials now of some kind.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean the thing is to the I'd listen to if I want to listen to classical music, you know, because I got serious that time.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_07]: So I just listen to classical music, or I listen to the forties of fifty.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_07]: So, you know, I never was a big fan about government subsidizing private businesses in the first place.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it was always sold on the idea that, especially in rural areas, there was a possibility of signals.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, they did, I think NPR has got all things considered and all their news shows.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_04]: But there's been controversy over the, you know, the political slant over there.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_07]: Well, what I say then, if there's that popular,
- 36:58[SPEAKER_07]: then let the liberals pay for it.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_07]: You know, no, they can buy ads, they can, you know, they've got to get all this money to run, can't pay, they get all this money to run, you know, all the things that they run.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_07]: So they can come up with some money to make up the difference if they really enjoy it, because let's face it, the average conservative doesn't watch it.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_07]: And I'll tell you one thing, Mike said, to my grandkids never watch public television.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_07]: The other choice is on the other other networks that they watch and we're specifically designed for certain age groups, you know, you have baby first on cable that they watch when their babies then it goes to the next level next level.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_07]: And they all were, they all been brought up on that and it's not one of them ever watched.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_04]: Well, there's no doubt, there's no doubt about it.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_07]: The world is, the other world is, I think.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_04]: I'll show you.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_07]: Jim Henson, get all this money for the purposeful we pay for it.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_04]: Well, he's dead, isn't he?
- 38:01[SPEAKER_07]: He got the right stall all that, but yeah, it was the government that paid for him to develop the moppets and all that stuff.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_07]: I don't get that, and they sell all that stuff, and they sell right stall that stuff.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_07]: How come that side?
- 38:13[SPEAKER_07]: The government property, because it was paid for by the government.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I don't know.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_07]: I
- 38:31[SPEAKER_07]: That's tough.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_07]: So why didn't we get the benefits of that when all of a sudden became power?
- 38:37[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I like to go back to the old days of Captain Kangaroo.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_04]: That was television.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_04]: You used to watch that and there was a, I can remember in DC when I lived there briefly, there was Captain Tug, also on WTTG.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_04]: And that was a similar type show.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_04]: I was in the late afternoon, but you know, Captain Kangaroo was on in the morning and
- 39:01[SPEAKER_04]: Mr. Moose and funny rabbit and grandfather clock and all of those characters.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I grew up on, Dammit.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_07]: Well, yeah, you had the little giant or whatever was from Canada there.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_07]: He was on and, you know, there was children's programming out of Canada that you could watch here and all that kind of stuff.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I remember, you know, well, originally public television was what they called ETV or educational television.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_04]: And it was a way to get signal into schools because you didn't have all the vehicles or platforms you have now.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_04]: So they remember they'd roll a TV into the classroom and they'd watch some show and a but science show or something.

- 45:41[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody checks and remember bowling for dollars, yeah?
- 45:44[SPEAKER_04]: Remember that?
- 45:45[SPEAKER_04]: Remember the game where they used to have a cut up a phone book and
- 45:49[SPEAKER_04]: You know, they take like six from the top of each slip or something that they pull out.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_04]: And then they'd call that number.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_04]: And if you were home, you wouldn't.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_04]: All sorts of silly things.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_04]: There's a person texting.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_04]: I have a radio shack transistor radio.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_04]: Still working.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_04]: Good.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_04]: God bless you.

- 46:23[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody else texted and exceeding the park speed limit of twenty miles an hour by more than twenty percent and navigate a clearly visible and marked speed bump is crazy.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: Didn't anyone using the road to get up into the park already have to cross one or two of those.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they did.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_04]: And there you go that went to get in there you'd have to cross up.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_04]: So is it was that?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_04]: But you hate to say anything because, you know, it was a tragedy.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_04]: But after you're on the air.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_07]: Hey, Mike is in my grandkids both much to a lot of PBS.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_07]: They'd like all of the shows on the air.

- 47:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, watch fine.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad they did.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, okay.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm not just saying there's a lot of people that do watch it.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_07]: Actually, it's a small percentage of their money comes from the government.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_07]: But I think Netflix worked to deal with them already before this.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_07]: If it was going to happen that they were going to
- 47:25[SPEAKER_07]: put that money to and then they release it on next but Netflix the same day or something like that.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_04]: Well good.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_07]: Well good.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_07]: Well good.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_04]: Good.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_04]: That's American.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_04]: That's the private sector stepping up.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_04]: That's what we want to see.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_07]: You can't afford that and you know I mean it kind of sucks but you have to pay Netflix fee.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god if you're poor people have cell phones and they've got everything.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_04]: Well maybe they have Obama phones.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_07]: in a poor people, first in every word would be one.

- 48:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what to do about it.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_04]: There was something I could do I would.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, why don't you invite one to live at your house?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_04]: You live alone?
- 48:13[SPEAKER_04]: You got plenty of room in that house?
- 48:15[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and I'm, I'm a,
- 48:19[SPEAKER_07]: I'm good.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_07]: All right.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I don't care if they're almost or not, but I don't know.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not going to invite them to live in the house.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_07]: That's just silly.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_07]: But you know, it's just another addictive Trump move on this PBS because they had Donald Gromp was a billionaire.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_07]: You know, he's after
- 48:45[SPEAKER_07]: The Grout Flicker Oscars is Donald Grump was a character and he was a muppet and he just can't get over anything anybody doesn't against him as what it comes down to.

- 48:55[SPEAKER_07]: I have a text, that's me, Shree.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_04]: Look at how many times do I have to say?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_04]: I don't agree with everything that Trump does or says.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_07]: You're right.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_07]: There you go.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_07]: There you go.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_04]: There you go.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_07]: There's a line.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_07]: When you start having concentration camps, you have to stand the way out of the room.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my God.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, they got air condition.

- 49:20[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, they're air condition because the air comes in the plants, the air space or whatever, but they don't have air conditioning.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_04]: Now, listen, if I started calling Dr. Fauci, Dr. Mangala, you'd be all mad about it, but you can call Trump Hitler and it's okay.

- 55:38[SPEAKER_04]: And another person said, Jeff, I have seen cars driving around said speed bump in the park the last few days.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_04]: They drive on the grass and go right around it.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_04]: I don't blame him for that.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_04]: But after doing it on the air.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_07]: Because I have to know Jeff a couple of things I thought I'd share with you a couple of thoughts, transistor radios from radio shack.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_07]: I'm presently listening to your show and have for quite some time.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_07]: My fifty-year-old radio-shack transistor radio.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_07]: No problems.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_07]: Only solutions.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_07]: Great little, great little piece of machinery.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_04]: Right, yeah.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_07]: And the other thing is I heard the funniest thing Glenn's show yesterday.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_07]: The live at five.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_07]: They were talking about public TV and
- 56:27[SPEAKER_07]: and funding and so on and so on.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_07]: And the caller was talking about Sesame Street.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_07]: There's Glenn Coddy on there was so funny.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_07]: It really cracked me up.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_07]: He cut it and he said, oh, the kids don't look at Sesame Street anymore.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_07]: They're on TikTok.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_07]: It just really hit me.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_07]: Glenn's a student of human.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_04]: He's a chronic order of a human condition.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, he is.

- 57:27[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody likes him other than maybe a couple of our listeners here.

- 57:45[SPEAKER_04]: But he says,
- 57:50[SPEAKER_04]: He says he's going to use what's he going to do here?
- 57:53[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to make better use of social media reaching out to more young people and touching more people.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_04]: He says, God help us.
