- 0:00Speaker 1: Good. I we had a full day of rehearsal.
- 0:02Speaker 2: We're obviously coming in our flight Sunday, so we're just
- 0:05Speaker 2: getting rehearsal in and then yeah, that's about it.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Yeah, are you looking forward to that fly?
- 0:12Speaker 1: No?
- 0:13Speaker 2: No, that part, I'm that part. I'm definitely not looking
- 0:16Speaker 2: forward to.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it sucks. You've done it before, though, haven't you.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I know I have. I've done it, like I've I've
- 0:23Speaker 1: flown to I've flown to like.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Vacation and like gone a vacation in Indonesia and done a
- 0:30Speaker 2: couple other things. But I've never been to Australia. The
- 0:32Speaker 2: band has never been to Australia. I like, I did
- 0:35Speaker 2: just flight to South Africa once. I did a flight
- 0:36Speaker 2: to Indonesia once. Those are miserably long, obviously, but as
- 0:40Speaker 2: like the like, it's a totally everything when you fly
- 0:41Speaker 2: as a band too, because you have like twenty pieces
- 0:44Speaker 2: of equipment and it's eight seven eight people and everybody's
- 0:48Speaker 2: got to go through and moves. It moves very slowly,
- 0:50Speaker 2: and there's like always an issue when you get to
- 0:52Speaker 2: the counter of like they didn't you know, the fees
- 0:55Speaker 2: are different than they said they were online, and you
- 0:57Speaker 2: got a media pass blah blah blah, So that'll be
- 1:00Speaker 2: We've done it to England, like to Europe UK a
- 1:03Speaker 2: couple of times, but Australia will be your first first time.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So good old Quantis bringing us over. We're looking forward
- 1:08Speaker 1: to it.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah, And well, I've always wondered, do you guys have
- 1:13Speaker 3: much time to sort of chill out before you have
- 1:16Speaker 3: to play a show, like a couple of days or
- 1:19Speaker 3: is it like straight away you're playing.
- 1:21Speaker 1: It depends. I think we have one and a half
- 1:24Speaker 1: days before and like two and a half days after. Okay, yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: so we have a little.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Time before and after the like, but to be honest,
- 1:32Speaker 2: a lot of time that gets filled with like press yes,
- 1:35Speaker 2: like like going to Triple j or doing whatever like
- 1:37Speaker 2: that's probably what we'll end up doing.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah. But yeah, well I hope you guys can recover
- 1:43Speaker 3: and not have jet lagged too bad done.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So yeah, we'll see, we'll see what happens. It's you know,
- 1:49Speaker 2: that's the life I chose. I'm not I'm not complaining
- 1:51Speaker 2: about it, so I'll go.
- 1:54Speaker 3: And speaking of Australia, it's a big first for you guys.
- 1:56Speaker 3: What are you looking forward to on your tour down Under.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Honestly, everything I like. I love traveling. It's like one
- 2:04Speaker 1: of my favorite things in the world. It's so important.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I feel like I'm pretty well traveled overall for an
- 2:08Speaker 2: American all things considered, And I feel it's just like
- 2:11Speaker 2: it's a content I've never been to, and it's one
- 2:13Speaker 2: like I just have always wanted to travel to.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And I don't know anything about the culture. Really.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I know that there's like koalas and kangaroos and beaches
- 2:23Speaker 2: and vegemite, and that's about it, to be honest, Like,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I don't know much honestly at all. I think everybody
- 2:28Speaker 2: just like knows the accent is like like people in Maria.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We just like joke about the accent every now and then.
- 2:34Speaker 2: And I wasn't aware until like well after we accepted
- 2:37Speaker 2: the offer for the tour that you can't drive, like
- 2:40Speaker 2: you have to fly between every show.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I had. I had no idea, Like I didn't.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Realize Australia was as big as it is and in
- 2:47Speaker 2: all like coastal and you can't really drive.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So I don't know. To answer question, I don't know.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I didn't know shit about Australia before before this, so
- 2:54Speaker 2: I'm kind of just coming into it like completely wide eyed,
- 2:58Speaker 2: like just looking to just like have fun and like
- 3:00Speaker 2: immerse myself in it.
- 3:00Speaker 1: So I'm looking forward to it a ton.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, you'll love it. Make sure you do get
- 3:04Speaker 3: if you can, try and get to see something wherever,
- 3:07Speaker 3: whatever state you're in, try and see something natural or yeah,
- 3:11Speaker 3: you'll love it.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, for sure and forever.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Yours hit twenty million streams, which is massive. Do you
- 3:18Speaker 3: have any favorite behind the scenes moments or stories related
- 3:21Speaker 3: to that track success?
- 3:25Speaker 2: No, I think it was actually one of the It
- 3:29Speaker 2: was I think might have been one of the last
- 3:31Speaker 2: songs that we wrote for that album. That was our
- 3:35Speaker 2: first full length record. Yeah, came out in twenty seventeen,
- 3:38Speaker 2: and that was actually the last song that we wrote,
- 3:40Speaker 2: like right before we wanted to studio to record it.
- 3:41Speaker 2: So it's kind of just like funny how that works,
- 3:44Speaker 2: where you have an entire record written and then at
- 3:46Speaker 2: the end you're like, oh, let's let's like no, like
- 3:49Speaker 2: kind of just see what happens, like throw some stuff
- 3:50Speaker 2: off the wall and see some sticks. And we ended
- 3:52Speaker 2: up getting that one like the day before we wanted studio,
- 3:54Speaker 2: which was a great, A great, great thing obviously for sure.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Yeah, And how did that success feel? Was it a
- 4:01Speaker 3: kind of pinchbe moment or.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I don't really think of it like that.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I just like I'm all about, you know, like just
- 4:10Speaker 2: the shows and like the interact with the fans, Like
- 4:12Speaker 2: obviously that's that one's been one that people love. And
- 4:15Speaker 2: I think it's like I think people love like acoustic music.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I think a lot it's like very listenable for people,
- 4:21Speaker 2: and I think that's great. And I think I don't
- 4:24Speaker 2: have like anything particular about like one song as far
- 4:31Speaker 2: as like success over another, Like I just love playing
- 4:33Speaker 2: and writing music, you know what I mean. I think
- 4:35Speaker 2: we're really excited about, uh to be able to come
- 4:38Speaker 2: to Australia because it's been we try to come through,
- 4:41Speaker 2: but Lockdown kind of messed up our schedules. So this
- 4:43Speaker 2: is our first time at all, like I said, so
- 4:45Speaker 2: supporting slowly slowly and then doing a couple of headliners
- 4:48Speaker 2: where we can do some of our older songs too,
- 4:50Speaker 2: just for fans.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Like we're really looking.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Forward to kind of giving everybody like any Australian fan,
- 4:57Speaker 2: like any Australian fan of ours, just like everything that
- 5:00Speaker 2: we have that they've been waiting for for like four
- 5:02Speaker 2: records at this point, so it'll we're really looking forward
- 5:04Speaker 2: to given and everything.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it. Yeah, definitely. So it sounds like you're
- 5:08Speaker 3: more interested in playing the live music rather than the
- 5:11Speaker 3: success of certain songs and stuff like that.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah for sure, definitely.
- 5:16Speaker 3: And the alt rock and punk influences in your music
- 5:19Speaker 3: are so strong. What was the first album you remember
- 5:25Speaker 3: completely obsessing over.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I would say the self titled Third Eye Blind record
- 5:31Speaker 1: was one of them.
- 5:33Speaker 2: A lot of those like nineties rock bands that I
- 5:35Speaker 2: grew up with, like listening to with my dad honestly
- 5:37Speaker 2: in the car, like they're on the radio at the time,
- 5:39Speaker 2: like in America, like Eve six, Third Eye Blind, Fuel, Wallflowers,
- 5:47Speaker 2: a lot of that, and then like my parents, the's
- 5:49Speaker 2: a ton of like Zeppelin and like older kind of
- 5:50Speaker 2: classic rock bands that I love.
- 5:52Speaker 1: But I would say as far as for me, it.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Was a lot of like nineties alt rock, Gin Bossoms,
- 5:56Speaker 2: those kind of bands, and then obviously the mixed in
- 5:58Speaker 2: oft blend an a CDC and bands like that for sure,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and then some like punk bands too.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, awesome. We can definitely hear it in
- 6:07Speaker 3: your music too, like the different influences. It's not just
- 6:10Speaker 3: cut this is you know, this genre it's.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I think we just think of it as just like
- 6:16Speaker 2: alternative rock, you know what I mean, Like it's just
- 6:19Speaker 2: kind of a combination of a lot of things for sure.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely. And if you could collaborate with any band
- 6:26Speaker 3: or artists past or present to create a song, who
- 6:28Speaker 3: would it be and why?
- 6:31Speaker 2: I think it'd be. Like, I think it'd be Led Zeppelin.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I think they're like my favorite band of all time.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Think they're like, yeah, I mean they're probably I don't know,
- 6:40Speaker 2: I think they're like the best rock band of all time.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I just think I just think being in the room
- 6:44Speaker 2: with them, like picking their brains and learning stuff would
- 6:45Speaker 2: be that'd probably be my answer.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I think that's a pretty fair call.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so too.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah. And since The Heart just dropped in January, how
- 6:55Speaker 3: do you feel like your music has evolved from your
- 6:57Speaker 3: previous albums.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great question. I mean I feel like
- 7:01Speaker 2: in some ways it's changed a lot. In some ways
- 7:03Speaker 2: it stayed the same. It's just kind of been this
- 7:06Speaker 2: natural thing of like our first record was just like
- 7:09Speaker 2: a like punk rock record. Our second one we kind
- 7:11Speaker 2: of experiment Melevido, We kind of experimented with a little
- 7:14Speaker 2: more like pop production, a little more like electronic stuff
- 7:18Speaker 2: kind of involved, i mean, not even electronics, just like
- 7:20Speaker 2: pop production in rock music. And then and then like Umber,
- 7:25Speaker 2: our third record was a little more like it had
- 7:26Speaker 2: strings and it had choirs and it had brass sections,
- 7:30Speaker 2: is a little more.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Like theatrical, you know. And then the Heart.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I feel like it's sort of all of the good
- 7:36Speaker 2: things I feel about all three of those records just refined.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Is kind of how it feels like the one.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It almost like this whole era of our band feels
- 7:44Speaker 2: like a self titled era in the sense of it's
- 7:47Speaker 2: like the most time we took between records.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And this one was kind of taking all the things
- 7:52Speaker 1: we've done.
- 7:52Speaker 2: On our previous records and really identifying, like what is
- 7:57Speaker 2: the most unique to us and what we love about,
- 8:00Speaker 2: and like making the best version of all of that combined,
- 8:02Speaker 2: If that makes sense.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, is it almost like you guys have really found
- 8:06Speaker 3: your sound with the Heart?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel that way. I definitely feel that way.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I would never say like anything prior feels not like
- 8:14Speaker 2: not authentic in any way. But I think this is
- 8:16Speaker 2: like it feels like something we've been working towards sonically,
- 8:21Speaker 2: something that's like the most unique to us.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I feel, yeah, yeah, nice. And you've toured with some
- 8:27Speaker 3: heavy hitting bands like All Time Lounging Class Heroes. What's
- 8:30Speaker 3: one piece of advice you've taken away from a band
- 8:33Speaker 3: you've toured with?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Just like I mean, I think just watching watching bands
- 8:42Speaker 2: like All Time Low or Boys Like Girls or The
- 8:45Speaker 2: Main or you know, bands like that, got like they're
- 8:48Speaker 2: kind of been doing it a long time and had
- 8:51Speaker 2: a lot of success, and they're all bands that we
- 8:52Speaker 2: look up to and are friends with. I think there's
- 8:54Speaker 2: there's so much just watching them every night, like from
- 8:58Speaker 2: a performance stam point, not only like performing as a musician,
- 9:04Speaker 2: performing as a performer, like interact with the crowd, all
- 9:07Speaker 2: those things. And then I can't speak highly, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 2: highly enough about all all of those bands I listed,
- 9:11Speaker 2: like how how good they've been to us, how good
- 9:13Speaker 2: they are as people, And it's yeah, I just I
- 9:17Speaker 2: guess just just the way you carry yourself and treat
- 9:20Speaker 2: support bands that are on the tour with you, and
- 9:22Speaker 2: how you know, kind of watching them as a musician
- 9:24Speaker 2: watching them do their thing.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I think it's been inspiring for me for sure.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh that's lovely, isn't it nice when you know
- 9:31Speaker 3: you are touring or you get to meet these big
- 9:33Speaker 3: musicians and they treat you as equal and not like
- 9:37Speaker 3: someone below them just.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Because Yeah, of course, yeah, definitely so nice.
- 9:43Speaker 3: And you guys have been making music together since twenty sixteen.
- 9:47Speaker 3: What's the one thing that stayed the same for you
- 9:49Speaker 3: as a group, no matter how much has changed after years.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I mean, we've been like friends since well before that,
- 9:56Speaker 2: we've been friends like twenty eleven, twenty ten or something,
- 9:59Speaker 2: so even friends as we were in like like eighth
- 10:03Speaker 2: ninth grade, like ninth grade. So I would say to
- 10:06Speaker 2: answer that, like us has stayed exactly the same. It's
- 10:10Speaker 2: never like it's always kind of been like friends. We've
- 10:12Speaker 2: been like best friends, like literally like brothers before anything.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And then yeah, like we've stayed exactly the same as
- 10:20Speaker 2: we were when we were kids, and we still love
- 10:22Speaker 2: each other so much the same way in different ways,
- 10:25Speaker 2: evolved ways, and we've been through a lot together personally,
- 10:29Speaker 2: and it's just like brought us closer and I'm really
- 10:31Speaker 2: like proud and have a lot of love for all
- 10:33Speaker 2: of them for sure.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously you guys have really good communication to stay
- 10:37Speaker 3: friends that long, but also be able to tell each other,
- 10:40Speaker 3: you know, what's working, what's not working.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think any you know, in any
- 10:45Speaker 2: any relationship, you need good communication, for sure.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I mean it's always.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I mean, it's always like something people continue continually need
- 10:51Speaker 2: to improve on. I feel like a lot of people
- 10:53Speaker 2: as as a you know, grown up, it's like communication
- 10:57Speaker 2: I feel can solve good communication can solve a lot
- 11:01Speaker 2: of like personal conflicts, you know what I mean. And
- 11:03Speaker 2: that's something I continue to learn. I'm still learning over
- 11:06Speaker 2: and over again, for sure.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Yeah, me too. Every album brings something new. What's one
- 11:12Speaker 3: thing on your bucket list that you still want to
- 11:14Speaker 3: achieve creatively with Grayscale?
- 11:17Speaker 1: That's a good question. I've ever been asked that before.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I think our band continues to lean more and more
- 11:23Speaker 2: into like rock, and I'm like, I don't know, creatively,
- 11:28Speaker 2: like we don't plan anything out ahead of time, like
- 11:30Speaker 2: knowing exactly what the next record is going to sound like.
- 11:32Speaker 1: It's kind of something that of like uncoveras itself as
- 11:34Speaker 1: you do it.
- 11:35Speaker 2: But I could see a world where you know, are
- 11:38Speaker 2: moving forward. Our music is just like more and more
- 11:41Speaker 2: just like rock leaning. Yeah, so we'll see, we'll see
- 11:45Speaker 2: how that goes. I mean, we already are. But it's like,
- 11:47Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of like synse and that's
- 11:48Speaker 2: just like what Graceco kind of always been in the hearts,
- 11:50Speaker 2: like the best version of of of exactly that. But
- 11:55Speaker 2: I don't know, there's a part of me with somebody
- 11:56Speaker 2: that wonders if we just write like a straight up
- 11:58Speaker 2: like rock and roll heard like to have you fun
- 12:01Speaker 2: as shit. But well, we'll see what happens. I don't know,
- 12:03Speaker 2: we'll see what naturally happens creatively.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Yeah, awesome. And you're known for your emotional lyrics. Do
- 12:09Speaker 3: you ever feel like you're putting your heart on the
- 12:10Speaker 3: line when you release something personal? Or is it more liberating.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Than scary all the time?
- 12:16Speaker 2: I like, I feel like it's I really it is
- 12:19Speaker 2: liberating and it is scary, but at the same time,
- 12:21Speaker 2: like I feel not to be like I hate being
- 12:24Speaker 2: like the super like art art it like arts art guy,
- 12:29Speaker 2: like artsy guy, but I feel I feel it's just
- 12:33Speaker 2: like what good art deserves, Like it's I feel almost
- 12:36Speaker 2: like that's something that I owe to music itself, Like
- 12:41Speaker 2: it's not. It's something all all the influences I have,
- 12:43Speaker 2: like Bruce Springsteen and Third Eye Blind and these these
- 12:46Speaker 2: incredible lyrics lyricists that I've grown up listening to. It's like,
- 12:50Speaker 2: I don't it's not really up to me, Like I
- 12:52Speaker 2: don't have a choice if that's if that's a story
- 12:54Speaker 2: I have to tell and it's real. It's like, it's
- 12:57Speaker 2: not really up to me to keep it to my
- 13:00Speaker 2: self in like a if I'm at least either don't
- 13:02Speaker 2: write about it or if I'm gonna write about it,
- 13:04Speaker 2: it's like write about it, you know what I mean,
- 13:06Speaker 2: and don't And that's what good art is. It is
- 13:07Speaker 2: like that's why people go back and it stays with people.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Is not not just a song that's like, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 2: it can be catchy or fun or whatever, and that's great.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And there's like I love pop music like I love
- 13:17Speaker 2: all kinds of music. It's not specific to any genre.
- 13:19Speaker 2: But I think the songs that have really stuck with
- 13:22Speaker 2: me are the ones that like oftentimes you know, the lyrics,
- 13:25Speaker 2: there's no.
- 13:28Speaker 1: There's no surrender to it being too personal.
- 13:31Speaker 2: You know what I mean, there's always like it's inspiring
- 13:33Speaker 2: when it's really really like somebody wearing their heart on
- 13:35Speaker 2: their sleeve, you know.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely, No, it's raw and unfiltered. And do you
- 13:39Speaker 3: ever because I feel like in my position, if I
- 13:42Speaker 3: was to be a lyricist, I would get worried about
- 13:45Speaker 3: what like my family or friends would think, how do
- 13:48Speaker 3: you deal with that?
- 13:50Speaker 1: I just don't. Yeah, I just do it.
- 13:52Speaker 2: And then I mean there's I mean, honestly almost there's
- 13:56Speaker 2: like often when a record comes out and I'll get
- 13:59Speaker 2: a call from some that's pissed about something. Yeah, not really,
- 14:03Speaker 2: but like I think there's emotional like some really like
- 14:06Speaker 2: sentimental songs about like deep songs like my relationship with
- 14:10Speaker 2: like my mom on a couple of records. Like that's
- 14:11Speaker 2: an example of something where it's like it's stuff with
- 14:14Speaker 2: something that has to be like talked about when it
- 14:15Speaker 2: comes out or if I show them ahead of time
- 14:17Speaker 2: and like the reaction can be mixed or or they
- 14:20Speaker 2: find out and like talk to me about it. But
- 14:24Speaker 2: that's just kind of again, it's kind of something that
- 14:26Speaker 2: I I don't really feel like that's that's that's art, you.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, you don't need to explain yourself.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and it's just like that's that's like
- 14:36Speaker 2: a lived experience and that's like what I feel that
- 14:40Speaker 2: I want to do the story justice.
- 14:42Speaker 1: And it's like it's never been a problem.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Actually, Like I'm fucking around saying like I've got a
- 14:46Speaker 2: call from somebody that's like yeah, like it's like something
- 14:48Speaker 2: with like my mom in particular, I've had to like
- 14:50Speaker 2: talk about and work through for sure.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah, pre worn. I guess maybe did you pre warn
- 14:56Speaker 3: that looked as a song coming out or was it
- 14:58Speaker 3: just like.
- 15:00Speaker 2: First one that came out in twenty seventeen, which wasn't
- 15:02Speaker 2: a very nice song, there was no warning, and then
- 15:06Speaker 2: the most recent one, which was a kinder song but
- 15:08Speaker 2: a very open, vulnerable one. There were two songs. One
- 15:12Speaker 2: it's called Mum and ones called Mom Too. They're like
- 15:14Speaker 2: the same uh, like about the same thing. It's about
- 15:18Speaker 2: the relationship with that I have with my mom and
- 15:20Speaker 2: how it's evolved. But the second one, which is on
- 15:22Speaker 2: the Heart, it was already done and put on the
- 15:25Speaker 2: record and pressed on vinyl. But by that time, I
- 15:28Speaker 2: think it was before it came out, I like went
- 15:30Speaker 2: he and like played it for type thing.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, oh nice.
- 15:35Speaker 3: And do you have any memorable fan interactions or wild
- 15:38Speaker 3: stories from your time on the road.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I have plenty. I feel like.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I'd have to really think about this, but I've had
- 15:52Speaker 2: a lot of memorable ones. Like I think it's just funny,
- 15:57Speaker 2: like our fans are like very hyper involved and it's
- 15:59Speaker 2: awesome and there's committed and like they mean the world
- 16:01Speaker 2: to us, and I, uh, there's just times for like
- 16:06Speaker 2: I remember the first time we toured like Europe UK,
- 16:08Speaker 2: like every time we go there, like somewhere we kind
- 16:11Speaker 2: of we talked about how we love like Kinder and
- 16:13Speaker 2: Cadbury chocolate because we don't really have it in America.
- 16:16Speaker 2: There's more now, there's more like you can get it
- 16:18Speaker 2: now a little more commonly, but there's less of a selection.
- 16:20Speaker 2: But we like there's times when we come to like
- 16:24Speaker 2: Europe UK, like almost every time we come, there's like
- 16:27Speaker 2: fans that just come with like buckets of just chocolate,
- 16:30Speaker 2: like you just we because we love like Europe, like
- 16:32Speaker 2: European chocolate, like chocolate over you know, Europe UK is
- 16:35Speaker 2: so much better than here on average, and uh so
- 16:37Speaker 2: we get a ton of that. I think it's that's
- 16:39Speaker 2: like a lighter heart, lighthearted one. But I think that's
- 16:41Speaker 2: one that I love about. Like, you know, they found
- 16:43Speaker 2: out we love chocolate. We talk about how good European
- 16:45Speaker 2: chocolate is, and so every time we come over, we're
- 16:47Speaker 2: just like you know, brought so much, so much more
- 16:51Speaker 2: chocolate than we can even eat ourselves through if we
- 16:53Speaker 2: wanted to, So we have to leave it. We eat
- 16:55Speaker 2: as much as we can and we end up not
- 16:56Speaker 2: being able to bring it all. But it's yeah, it's
- 16:59Speaker 2: been amazing, awesome.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Well that's a little note to all the Australian fans
- 17:03Speaker 3: because I think our chocolate is even better than the
- 17:05Speaker 3: European chocolate.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Do you really?
- 17:07Speaker 3: Yes, I know that your chocolate in the US, I
- 17:10Speaker 3: don't know. It tastes like watery dirt or something. Sorry,
- 17:13Speaker 3: no offense, and then the European one is getting there,
- 17:17Speaker 3: but I think ours is better for something.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Well, hopefully hopefully some Australian fans hear
- 17:24Speaker 2: this and bring a couple of samples that would be
- 17:26Speaker 2: that would be wonderful.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah, And on the same topic, is there can you
- 17:30Speaker 3: think of like the weirdest gift a fan has ever
- 17:34Speaker 3: given you.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Uh, I mean, yeah, I'm trying to think of like
- 17:42Speaker 2: an appropriate one for an interview.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But let me think.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I think it's interesting some times when we get like resumes,
- 18:07Speaker 2: like I mean, it's not a gift, it's like but
- 18:09Speaker 2: they'll be resumes about it's it's like it's very like endearing,
- 18:16Speaker 2: but it's resumes about like to as far as like
- 18:19Speaker 2: touring roles which we just happened.
- 18:20Speaker 1: To have filled already.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think it's like it is like it's
- 18:25Speaker 2: very kind and like you know, meaningful, but it's like
- 18:28Speaker 2: it's something where it's like we already have those roles filled.
- 18:32Speaker 2: But I think it's a very like interesting same thing
- 18:35Speaker 2: that I guess I didn't see coming with people would
- 18:37Speaker 2: come and like bring resumes to like wanting to be
- 18:41Speaker 2: part of like the touring party or like work with
- 18:43Speaker 2: the band or for the band, which I thought was
- 18:45Speaker 2: like a really nice thing. It's not really a weird thing.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I think it was just something unexpected. I guess it
- 18:49Speaker 2: is a better way of saying that's something I didn't Yeah, but.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I can't really think.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I have some other ones like in my in mind,
- 18:56Speaker 2: but they're like not.
- 18:59Speaker 1: The best thing to talk about.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I mean sometimes, I guess a better example is just
- 19:04Speaker 2: like it's not weird, but just like weed, just being
- 19:08Speaker 2: brought weed all the time, or drugs, and some of
- 19:11Speaker 2: them are drugs that we don't do and we're like no,
- 19:14Speaker 2: like I don't know, thanks, thanks, but take that back
- 19:18Speaker 2: then you we don't need to get pulled over with that.
- 19:20Speaker 2: But yeah, that kind of thing. And that's that's I
- 19:22Speaker 2: guess the best version I can give in this interview.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I've never heard that answer before of like getting resumes
- 19:29Speaker 3: to tour with. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and like something it's like for merch or for
- 19:34Speaker 2: like photography or like, yeah, it's it's just for something
- 19:37Speaker 2: or tour managing. It's something I wasn't never expected before.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure it happens to quite a few bands
- 19:42Speaker 3: as well.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Totally, I'm sure. Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 3: And what music are you liking and listening to at
- 19:47Speaker 3: the moment?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Uh, Sam Fender Fontaine's DC, Wonderhorse. There's a lot of
- 19:54Speaker 1: like British Irish.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Bands that I've really been enjoying lately, slowly slowly record.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I've been listening to ton Forgiven Spree. It's awesome.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yeah, nice, yeah, I really love it.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Spontane's DC. Everyone has hyped up at the moment. Are
- 20:07Speaker 3: they worth checking out? Obviously?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they're sick. They have a new record called Romance
- 20:11Speaker 2: that I like love. I would start with the song
- 20:15Speaker 2: favorite by Fontane's DC off their new record.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I'm going to do it. I'm going to say what
- 20:20Speaker 3: all the hype is about?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Sick Sick? Yeah, Now they're dope. They're very cool.
- 20:24Speaker 3: And if you could create a joint music video for
- 20:26Speaker 3: one of your songs with no budget limits, what would
- 20:29Speaker 3: it look like?
- 20:32Speaker 2: We had an idea, actually I think it was it
- 20:33Speaker 2: was an idea of a different band, but going around
- 20:37Speaker 2: and interviewed, like showing people strangers, like on the street,
- 20:40Speaker 2: like showing them the song and asking them what they
- 20:43Speaker 2: think the music video would look like, and then taking
- 20:46Speaker 2: whatever the answers were and compiling them together into a
- 20:49Speaker 2: music video from like literally written by strangers inadvertently. Would
- 20:53Speaker 2: I think was a concept that we've thought about and
- 20:55Speaker 2: talked about and we never executed yet, but that would
- 20:57Speaker 2: be one that we'd still consider, I think for a song.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I think that's actually the best idea I've ever heard, Like, yeah, it's.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Not my it's from I forget who it is, but
- 21:05Speaker 2: our creative director Jacob has been talking about it for
- 21:07Speaker 2: a while. I think there's a band. It may have
- 21:09Speaker 2: actually been for Oasis. I think where like a director
- 21:13Speaker 2: brought it to like somebody an Oasis and they I
- 21:15Speaker 2: don't think they wanted to do it, but that was
- 21:17Speaker 2: like the the story, I guess, and we've talked about
- 21:20Speaker 2: like we should try that, which you see like what
- 21:22Speaker 2: people come up with, but yeah, I hope you do.
- 21:27Speaker 3: What's the favorite song of yours to play live? And why.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I love?
- 21:35Speaker 2: Kept Me Alive is the first song on our new record,
- 21:38Speaker 2: The Heart, and it's the first song on our set,
- 21:40Speaker 2: like I like coming out to Kept Me Alive right
- 21:43Speaker 2: into through the Landslide, which are the one and two
- 21:45Speaker 2: of like our new record, and I think that's it
- 21:49Speaker 2: feels like a really like immersive cool thing that's like
- 21:51Speaker 2: you know, you're just walking out, You're you're ripping right
- 21:54Speaker 2: into this new sort of like era of our band
- 21:56Speaker 2: that I've been really enjoying.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Those.
- 21:58Speaker 2: We've only played them a couple of times so far
- 22:00Speaker 2: at our record release show and we did like a
- 22:01Speaker 2: festival in Arizona. But these Australian shows, and then all
- 22:04Speaker 2: of the May Day Parade support shows we have in
- 22:06Speaker 2: the US shortly after. We'll be doing it a ton,
- 22:08Speaker 2: so I'm looking forward to that a lot.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Nice great opener.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it'd be great.
- 22:13Speaker 3: And is there anything lastly that you'd like to say
- 22:16Speaker 3: to your Australian fans.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Thank you for being patient.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I know it's taken literally years for us to get
- 22:24Speaker 2: over there. We tried, ironically, we're supposed to go over
- 22:27Speaker 2: there with May.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Day Parade before COVID. It didn't work out.
- 22:30Speaker 2: It was getting ready to be announced obviously it didn't
- 22:33Speaker 2: and then now we're touring them with them in the
- 22:36Speaker 2: US shortly after this Australian tour. Just a coincidence, but regardless,
- 22:40Speaker 2: thank you for your patience. We really really are excited
- 22:43Speaker 2: to come over. We're gonna play some support shows, but slowly, slowly,
- 22:47Speaker 2: and alongside Honey Revenge, who's a great band, and then
- 22:49Speaker 2: we're going to do a couple of headliners I think
- 22:52Speaker 2: Canberra and Belgrave.
- 22:53Speaker 1: They're both on sale.
- 22:54Speaker 2: We'll probably do some more older songs with those ones
- 22:57Speaker 2: as well, and honestly we're gonna try to meet everybody.
- 23:00Speaker 2: We're really excited to meet everybody and play play music
- 23:02Speaker 2: for the first time over there.
- 23:03Speaker 3: So thank you, Yes, we can't wait. Colin, thank you
- 23:06Speaker 3: so much for your time today.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Thank you
