- 0:08Speaker 1: Hey, babes, it is Lala Kent with my writer Die
- 0:12Speaker 1: Jessica again.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Hi everyone, it's me again.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Yay, welcome to the Give Them Lala Podcast. Last night's episode,
- 0:21Speaker 1: let's just get into it, you guys.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I haven't seen it yet, so Lala, I need to
- 0:26Speaker 2: know what to.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Expect, what to expect. There's a party for Charlie. Okay,
- 0:32Speaker 1: they are trying to get her food issues to go away, which,
- 0:39Speaker 1: let me be very very clear on this. We'll obviously
- 0:43Speaker 1: discuss this at the reunion. But when I learned about
- 0:49Speaker 1: Charlie's food issues, there was no context behind them. It
- 0:54Speaker 1: was just kind of you know what she said last
- 0:57Speaker 1: year or two years ago, I don't eat pasta because
- 1:00Speaker 1: I have a theory that it makes you gain weight. Right,
- 1:03Speaker 1: that was all I knew about it. I was like, Okay,
- 1:05Speaker 1: that seems strange. Don't get it then, is you? You know,
- 1:11Speaker 1: as we've heard her talk about, you know, her childhood trauma,
- 1:14Speaker 1: it all makes so much sense, you know.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And I wasn't invited to that party where everyone else was,
- 1:22Speaker 1: and they all brought different food for her to try.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Wait, you weren't invited?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:25Speaker 1: No? I was like an outsider. Oh you know, this
- 1:30Speaker 1: season was so strange for me.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, just because I was a brand new mom. You know,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I work really hard in my program. And that's not
- 1:44Speaker 1: to say that I don't have these like issues that
- 1:47Speaker 1: I still need to work on, because I definitely do.
- 1:50Speaker 1: But you know, AA is not just to stop drinking.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's to really get down to the root of all
- 1:59Speaker 1: of your issues and really just become a better human being. Granted,
- 2:04Speaker 1: when you become sober, you don't become Jesus and start
- 2:06Speaker 1: walking on water and turning the other cheek and becoming
- 2:09Speaker 1: this like, oh my gosh, incredible person. We're human beings.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We make mistakes, and the problem is is I this
- 2:18Speaker 1: season was having to pay for mistakes that I felt
- 2:22Speaker 1: I had already paid for. Yeah, if that makes sense,
- 2:24Speaker 1: that does.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And perceptions are real, bitch, because the way I see
- 2:30Speaker 1: things is not going to be the same as Sina
- 2:32Speaker 1: seeing things, or Ariana or sand of all. So it's
- 2:37Speaker 1: really the root of how things go badly.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah, And when you watch this season so far and
- 2:44Speaker 2: watched last night's episode and saw the party happening with
- 2:48Speaker 2: you not invited, do you feel a different way now
- 2:52Speaker 2: than you did when it was happening, or do you
- 2:54Speaker 2: feel how do you feel about it.
- 2:56Speaker 1: When it was happening. I was really trying to like
- 3:00Speaker 1: put it to the side because I didn't want to
- 3:02Speaker 1: bring that energy home to ocean. Yeah, but at this
- 3:06Speaker 1: point in my life watching a bag, I have much
- 3:10Speaker 1: bigger fish to fry, right, you know, right, Yes, I
- 3:15Speaker 1: take it one minute at a time, because you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: a seven month old can't sit around and wait for
- 3:23Speaker 1: you to get over shit.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yep.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you better keep your fucking head up and do
- 3:30Speaker 1: your thing. Yeah, So that's what I do.
- 3:33Speaker 2: And that's sort of what I was talking about when
- 3:36Speaker 2: I said last week, like the most inspiring soldiering through,
- 3:41Speaker 2: let's keep going with the day. It's incredible. And I
- 3:45Speaker 2: know you're dealing with a lot, but you also have
- 3:48Speaker 2: a lot of us who support you and love you
- 3:52Speaker 2: and ride or die for you. And I think you
- 3:57Speaker 2: have moments where you feel that and I love to
- 3:59Speaker 2: see those moments.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Thank you. I just never thought that my life would
- 4:03Speaker 1: be where it is right now, you know, And that's okay, Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 1: that's totally fine. And there's moments where I have pits
- 4:11Speaker 1: in my stomach and I'm like, I need God to
- 4:14Speaker 1: take over right now because it's too much, and he does.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely, this is a new chapter. It's like I've
- 4:23Speaker 2: heard you say it multiple times before with your last book,
- 4:27Speaker 2: give them La La. You're like, I feel like I've
- 4:28Speaker 2: lived a thousand lifetimes since that book came out, and
- 4:32Speaker 2: look at this. It's almost like I'm witnessing you literally
- 4:36Speaker 2: step into a new chapter.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's crazy because I look back on that book and
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, I was digging into stories from the time
- 4:46Speaker 1: I was like a child too, when my dad died,
- 4:50Speaker 1: through my drinking and what led me to get sober,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and I'm like, this feels like I don't recognize the
- 4:56Speaker 1: person that I'm writing about. Yeah, isn't that strange?
- 5:00Speaker 2: That's so strange. But it's so do you look at
- 5:04Speaker 2: your life because I do as sort of chapters like
- 5:08Speaker 2: to me, you saying that you look back on that
- 5:11Speaker 2: book and you're like, whoa, what was that life like?
- 5:14Speaker 2: To me, it was like a completely different literal chapter.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I just always look at life as like chapters and like,
- 5:21Speaker 2: oh my god, chapter six was wild. Yeah, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 2: like I don't.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Know, I look at it that way. Yeah, I for
- 5:28Speaker 1: sure look at it as chapters and you have to
- 5:32Speaker 1: be grateful for every experience because you know what I've
- 5:38Speaker 1: been through in my life, which people have been through
- 5:42Speaker 1: much crazier and traumatic things than I have been through.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Those people inspire me, who deal with things with grace
- 5:53Speaker 1: and they they come out on top even with the
- 5:56Speaker 1: hand they were dealt for me. I look at it
- 5:59Speaker 1: and I'm like, I would never have ocean, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: like this independence that I have wouldn't be here. Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 1: it just feels amazing, Like, yes, I have moments, but
- 6:14Speaker 1: I will say I feel so hopeful and happy.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I love that. That's amazing. That's I mean, I see
- 6:23Speaker 2: it like it's it's incredible, hopeful, happy and how great
- 6:27Speaker 2: it is to say. Not everyone can say this wala.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Not everyone can say wow. I look back at that
- 6:33Speaker 2: chapter of my life or look back at the book
- 6:35Speaker 2: and I don't even really recognize that person. That means
- 6:39Speaker 2: you're growing, you're growing, you're changing. It's like it's all
- 6:42Speaker 2: you know, it's all over the place. I see memes
- 6:44Speaker 2: about you know, you've changed. Well, thank god I have.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm not supposed to be the same person. That means
- 6:50Speaker 2: you're listening you're learning, you're educating yourself, you're allowing yourself
- 6:54Speaker 2: to grow, which some people never do.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Some people never do.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And they're stuck in their same ways and they can
- 6:59Speaker 2: look back at something they did ten years ago and
- 7:01Speaker 2: be like, yep, that was me. I'm the same God. No, Like,
- 7:04Speaker 2: that's just not you.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's true. And I feel like if anyone doesn't want
- 7:08Speaker 1: if anyone doesn't fit into your evolution, and if your
- 7:13Speaker 1: evolution involves you being happy or healthy, and there are
- 7:18Speaker 1: a lot of pluses to the changes you've made, and
- 7:21Speaker 1: people don't fit into that anymore, not my issue. I'm
- 7:25Speaker 1: burning the bridge.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I love that burn the bridge, and.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I don't care if I end up with three people
- 7:32Speaker 1: around me, because you know they're real. If you're a
- 7:35Speaker 1: quality person, that to me trumps the quantity.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I don't need a million friends. I need my mom,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I need you. Oh yay, you know my family obviously
- 7:49Speaker 1: those are a given. Yeah, and my husband's.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Love the husbands. Yeah, shout out load.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I love you. Well.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I think that's incredible. And I think just like I mean,
- 7:58Speaker 2: even from the person that I met what is it now,
- 8:02Speaker 2: six months ago? Yeah, you have like like I watch
- 8:06Speaker 2: you and I'm like, oh my god, this is amazing.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I am learning at so many things right before my eyes,
- 8:12Speaker 2: and it's really it's really inspiring.
- 8:13Speaker 1: You're the best, jess I always like I I've told
- 8:17Speaker 1: you this before. At night, Jessica and her boyfriend Kyle
- 8:21Speaker 1: have been added to my prayers. And I don't pray
- 8:24Speaker 1: for many, you know, I tell God just like, be
- 8:28Speaker 1: with those who need you. Whatever you take from that,
- 8:31Speaker 1: God is what you take from it. But it's like,
- 8:35Speaker 1: right now, that's the only thing I can lean on,
- 8:37Speaker 1: is like a higher power.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Higher power and prayer and Ocean and Laala are in
- 8:42Speaker 2: my prayers every night. And my mom and dad now
- 8:45Speaker 2: pray for Ocean, Laala and Lisa.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Love Mama and Papa Walter. That's I'm sure love them.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Just shout out Amy and Jake.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So with all of that being said, I'm excited for
- 8:59Speaker 1: today's podcast because last week it was a Mommy podcast.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Britt was on Yeah, and after the podcast my writer died.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Jessica was like, I have so many questions about childbirth,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you guys.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I have so many questions. And here's the thing. I
- 9:21Speaker 2: have a lot of friends and family who have had babies,
- 9:24Speaker 2: but they seem to only talk about the beautiful part.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And let's be honest, we know having a baby is miraculous.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It's beautiful, but there are some gnarly aspects.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yes, So, so Jessica is going to ask us all
- 9:39Speaker 1: of the fun and yummy questions about childbirth. And I'm
- 9:44Speaker 1: also going to have my mom weigh in because her
- 9:47Speaker 1: birthing experience with me was not great. It was actually
- 9:51Speaker 1: very traumatic. So when we come back, Jessica's going to
- 9:54Speaker 1: ask us questions, my Mom's going to weigh in. I'm
- 9:57Speaker 1: so excited. We'll be right back. We are back and
- 10:03Speaker 1: we are talking about all things yummy with childbirth. Obviously,
- 10:07Speaker 1: can I tell you something just yeah, my mom will
- 10:10Speaker 1: say the same thing. After I gave birth to Ocean.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Like during my labor, which I had a very easy labor,
- 10:17Speaker 1: there were I have a low pain tolerance, so there
- 10:19Speaker 1: were moments where I was like, this is hard. Why
- 10:22Speaker 1: did no one warn me? And then after I gave birth,
- 10:25Speaker 1: I was like, this is why no one warns you?
- 10:26Speaker 1: Because you literally forget, yeah, about anything that was traumatic
- 10:32Speaker 1: or hard. It just kind of like leaves your memory.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That's what I figured, And like I said, I know
- 10:38Speaker 2: childbirth is beautiful, but what I think happens is like,
- 10:41Speaker 2: here's the thing. I won't talk to my pregnant friends
- 10:44Speaker 2: about these things because I've tried before and I can
- 10:48Speaker 2: see it filling their head with thoughts and anxiety. But
- 10:52Speaker 2: then once they have the baby, it's like I ask
- 10:54Speaker 2: these questions and it's almost like no pain ever existed,
- 10:58Speaker 2: no gross things ever exist, because like, you have a
- 11:01Speaker 2: human now, so all of that just goes away, right, yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 2: but I've got question.
- 11:06Speaker 1: All right, ask away. Let's get it pop in.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Okay, I have a list, ladies and gentlemen, Lisa, please
- 11:12Speaker 2: say hi to everyone.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Hello, everyone, good morning.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I love Lisa. Lisa's iconic. She's gigie.
- 11:22Speaker 1: We know. She see your face and she said good morning.
- 11:25Speaker 1: She looked like, what if people listen and it's not morning. Okay,
- 11:29Speaker 1: it's okay, mama. They got it, they get it.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So here's the thing. I'm going to ask all the questions, Lisa.
- 11:36Speaker 2: If you don't feel comfortable answering some, then you don't
- 11:40Speaker 2: have to. But you know what you guys, Lisa is
- 11:42Speaker 2: an open book like her daughter Laala, So I feel
- 11:45Speaker 2: like we won't have that problem.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I was just gonna say that I'm a totally open book.
- 11:49Speaker 3: So here we go, Here we go.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Okay, we're going to start with an easy one. This
- 11:53Speaker 2: is a very easy one, but I'm curious about it. Sickness. Okay,
- 11:57Speaker 2: so some I want to know about morning sick night sickness.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I have this fear of throwing up. I hate throwing up.
- 12:05Speaker 2: So the thought of becoming pregnant, Like, what happens. You
- 12:09Speaker 2: become pregnant, and then weeks in you get sick in
- 12:12Speaker 2: the morning, you get sick at night. Does it only
- 12:14Speaker 2: last for a couple of weeks? What's the deal?
- 12:17Speaker 4: So with my experience, I was sick from the get
- 12:19Speaker 4: go with Lauren. I got sick in the morning and
- 12:22Speaker 4: at night. And I literally this is so gross, But
- 12:25Speaker 4: I was driving to work one morning literally threw up
- 12:29Speaker 4: in my lap. Yes, yes, very gnarly.
- 12:33Speaker 1: How long did it last?
- 12:34Speaker 3: Mom? About three months? Three months? Yeah?
- 12:38Speaker 1: So it wasn't you just being nauseated, You like actually
- 12:41Speaker 1: tossed your cookies often, often.
- 12:43Speaker 3: At work, in the car at home.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Great, did you go to work with vomit all over yourself?
- 12:50Speaker 4: Well, on that particular day, I had obviously to turn
- 12:53Speaker 4: around and go home and change, But yeah, it was.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It was something you mean that people didn't want you
- 12:59Speaker 1: to perform, to work with vomit in your lap on
- 13:02Speaker 1: them or in my teeth, yummy, if you asked for it,
- 13:07Speaker 1: Jess with Ocean, I was nauseated and I couldn't stomach
- 13:14Speaker 1: a lot of things. But I actually only threw up twice,
- 13:19Speaker 1: like actually, but the nausea I felt was like all
- 13:23Speaker 1: day long. Really yeah, it really was.
- 13:27Speaker 3: And you know what else got me? Smells?
- 13:30Speaker 4: Oh, the smellmells were horrific, you know it just anything
- 13:35Speaker 4: would trigger me, Like I went. I remember going to
- 13:38Speaker 4: subway one day and I walked in the door and
- 13:39Speaker 4: I immediately had to leave because I just the combination
- 13:43Speaker 4: of the smells got to me.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Which is so strange because I walk into a subway
- 13:47Speaker 1: and I'm like, ooh, I can smell all sorts of things.
- 13:51Speaker 1: What do I order?
- 13:52Speaker 3: And now me and meatball subs are best friends.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Best friends. We've had one about every day this week.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Thank you Subway. Same smells God to me too. But again,
- 14:01Speaker 1: it only lasted three months and then and then it
- 14:04Speaker 1: goes away. It just one day you wake up and
- 14:06Speaker 1: you're not sick anymore. Britney was sick, morning, noon, and
- 14:10Speaker 1: night until she gave birth.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Really yeah, like throwing up.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Sick, vomiting all night long and all day. Like we
- 14:19Speaker 1: could never get together. It was okay because granted we
- 14:22Speaker 1: were in COVID, so we shouldn't have been getting together anyway.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Like that was it was like, okay, I'm okay with
- 14:27Speaker 1: this because we can't get together anyway. Yeah, but yeah,
- 14:30Speaker 1: she had a really tough pregnancy. But after three months
- 14:34Speaker 1: I was digging it really. Oh my gosh. Okay.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So then this leads me to cravings again. And not
- 14:41Speaker 2: the most exciting question you guys, but I need to
- 14:43Speaker 2: know this because I crave sweets all the time. Like
- 14:46Speaker 2: do your cravings stay the same but they just elevate
- 14:50Speaker 2: or are they completely different?
- 14:51Speaker 1: I like this question, Mom, what did you crave? Do
- 14:53Speaker 1: you remember?
- 14:54Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 14:54Speaker 4: I don't remember craving anything. I think it was more
- 14:57Speaker 4: trying to find something that sounded.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Oh, we're so on the same page. I was so
- 15:02Speaker 1: excited when I got pregnant because whether people want to
- 15:05Speaker 1: believe this or not, I have a huge appetite, Like
- 15:07Speaker 1: I am a snacker. I love food. But then I
- 15:11Speaker 1: got pregnant and I was so excited. I'm like, I
- 15:13Speaker 1: can eat whatever I want. I don't even care. And
- 15:17Speaker 1: nothing sounded good except sushi and chocolate cake. And when
- 15:20Speaker 1: you're pregnant, your doctor will tell you, like, I wouldn't
- 15:23Speaker 1: have sushi, so I didn't. Yeah, but like nothing even
- 15:27Speaker 1: perrier didn't sound good. Shocker, shocked and shook to my
- 15:32Speaker 1: core about that. Wow, I know nothing sounded good really,
- 15:37Speaker 1: And even like you hear about people wanting pickles and
- 15:39Speaker 1: things like that, yeah, I don't want to pickle.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Yeah, never wanted to pickle. That was never never anything
- 15:46Speaker 4: I thought about.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Lisa wanted a different kind of pickle.
- 15:50Speaker 2: And on that note, these are this is one of
- 15:52Speaker 2: the questions you guys, I'm just gonna be jumping around
- 15:55Speaker 2: so horniness. I have heard that that some pregnant women
- 16:01Speaker 2: are completely disgusted by sex the entire time. And I'm
- 16:04Speaker 2: saying I've heard that from friends. Okay, other women it's
- 16:08Speaker 2: the horniest they've ever been, they can't stop, and other
- 16:12Speaker 2: women it comes and goes in phases. So do you
- 16:14Speaker 2: care to speak on that, either one of you?
- 16:17Speaker 4: So mine was just do I want to hear that
- 16:20Speaker 4: day on? So I was just never never got hornier
- 16:26Speaker 4: or didn't want it. It was just even kill for me.
- 16:29Speaker 4: So I wasn't affected either way.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I wasn't it was even killed. I just needed it
- 16:34Speaker 1: twice a day like I always do, and I'm good,
- 16:36Speaker 1: look at her, noddy her hand.
- 16:37Speaker 3: You know what you're gonna die.
- 16:40Speaker 4: But when I started showing, like five six months, my
- 16:45Speaker 4: husband was kind of like, not really.
- 16:47Speaker 3: I think he felt like it was kind.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Of like his peepee was going to hit your kids
- 16:53Speaker 1: in the face. Yes, yes, I've Yeah, that's really common
- 16:58Speaker 1: because like when I went into my obie, he would
- 17:04Speaker 1: stick his fingers up there and be like, I feel
- 17:05Speaker 1: the head and I'm like, oh, no, wonder you know
- 17:09Speaker 1: men are like, I don't want to put my peepe
- 17:11Speaker 1: up there. If you don't want your child's first thing
- 17:14Speaker 1: to touch them be that.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Wait stop really the fingers thing? So yes, zenus penises
- 17:19Speaker 2: could touch Oh my god, Well, depending on who you are,
- 17:23Speaker 2: could touch the baby. Yeah, did you speak on your horniness?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Were you at five months? I would look at the
- 17:31Speaker 1: corner of a couch and be like that put it
- 17:34Speaker 1: underneath me. I need to sit on it. I need
- 17:36Speaker 1: to maneuver on it. That is turning me on. I
- 17:39Speaker 1: was beyond torny it five months. Really, it's all I
- 17:42Speaker 1: thought about.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Everybody's so different.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I know, I know had my little handy dandy fingers.
- 17:51Speaker 1: We love the job done.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I'm going to ask this to Lisa. Lisa, how many
- 17:56Speaker 2: times did you have sex per week, per month when
- 18:00Speaker 2: you were pregnant?
- 18:01Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, you're asking a woman that delivered thirty
- 18:05Speaker 4: one years ago.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Let me think about this.
- 18:08Speaker 1: You're a freak. Tell us we.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Were probably on the norm two to three times a week.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Oh my god on the north.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Oh is that norm? Kyle? You hear that.
- 18:18Speaker 2: We gotta step it up a little.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Bit, Okabe?
- 18:23Speaker 1: No, I know, I know you, Lisa love it.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Okay, So then you guys, like I said, I'm gonna
- 18:30Speaker 2: jump all over the place. I need to know about
- 18:32Speaker 2: nipples because let me tell you something right now. A
- 18:36Speaker 2: few weeks ago, Laala just casually mentioned that nipples change
- 18:41Speaker 2: when you get pregnant, and I audibly gasped, because what
- 18:46Speaker 2: do you mean? What do you mean? Well?
- 18:48Speaker 1: I may or may not have shown Jessica, because I
- 18:52Speaker 1: was like, you have to see, this had to have
- 18:55Speaker 1: been a little bit ago. It was like you had
- 18:57Speaker 1: just been hired, But my nipples got so big and
- 19:03Speaker 1: so dark, and like the areola part, like not the
- 19:07Speaker 1: actual nipple that stayed the same, but the areola was
- 19:12Speaker 1: like a giant melted Hershey's kiss me.
- 19:18Speaker 3: On the other hand, not so much.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Lisa has the tiniest nipples you'll ever see, Nile
- 19:30Speaker 1: so Jesse. You guys know, we have like this makeshift
- 19:33Speaker 1: setup for the podcast and Lisa and Jessica to share
- 19:36Speaker 1: a mic, So if you hear one of them in
- 19:38Speaker 1: the distance, just know we're gonna pull our shit together
- 19:41Speaker 1: at some point. But a lot of things are changing,
- 19:43Speaker 1: so just roll with it for a minute.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So there's that on nipples. But I love darker nipples. Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 1: So I when my nipples got dark, I was like, oh,
- 19:54Speaker 1: they're so cute.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Are they little dark?
- 19:57Speaker 1: No, they're back to normal. But it's a real thing. Yeah,
- 20:01Speaker 1: when women say like, my baby sucked the life out
- 20:03Speaker 1: of my boobs, it's a real thing.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Really.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Like I look at my boobs and I'm like,
- 20:08Speaker 1: they used to be so cute and perky and like fake,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and now they're like sad balloons.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Well, you know that's another thing talking about nursing, Like
- 20:17Speaker 4: I tried to nurse Lauren for I wanted to do
- 20:21Speaker 4: it at least six months, but I didn't have the
- 20:23Speaker 4: milk supply and Lauren, on the other hand, was just producing, producing,
- 20:29Speaker 4: producing machine. I had to supplement with bottles, but I.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Didn't because of my mom telling me like it was
- 20:36Speaker 1: difficult for her to nurse. I and I've said this before,
- 20:39Speaker 1: was not married to the idea of nursing. I always
- 20:41Speaker 1: thought like, nursing is a privilege. Even if you want
- 20:44Speaker 1: to do it, you may not be able to. And
- 20:47Speaker 1: that's why it always bothers me when people would ask me,
- 20:50Speaker 1: are you going to It's like, well, I hope, but
- 20:52Speaker 1: that's sometimes not an option. You don't know how much
- 20:55Speaker 1: milk you'll produce. You don't know if your baby will latch.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And I wanted to be no, like, your baby lived
- 21:01Speaker 1: inside of you for nine months. Whether it's on the
- 21:03Speaker 1: boob or on a bottle, you're bonded. It doesn't matter exactly.
- 21:07Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:07Speaker 2: That's a great yeah, my mom. I know my mom
- 21:10Speaker 2: tried to nurse. There's five of us siblings. My mom
- 21:13Speaker 2: tried to nurse most of us, but I think two
- 21:16Speaker 2: of us didn't take And you know.
- 21:18Speaker 1: It's definitely cheaper if you're able to nurse, if you're
- 21:21Speaker 1: oh really, oh yeah, you don't have to pay for that.
- 21:23Speaker 1: It just comes through the boobies.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Lauren had she was very colicky, so I
- 21:29Speaker 4: had to when I supplemented her, I had to buy
- 21:32Speaker 4: a formula and it was fifteen dollars a can. And
- 21:35Speaker 4: this is thirty one years ago, like fifteen dollars. I
- 21:39Speaker 4: don't even know what it is now.
- 21:40Speaker 3: It was called.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I thought it was new New trimmin or something like that.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it was something like that.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it does. I saw it the other day. It
- 21:50Speaker 1: does still exist. And you know, when you're nursing, you
- 21:54Speaker 1: also have to be careful about what you eat. Because
- 21:56Speaker 1: I ate cauliflower one day and Ocean had. She screamed
- 22:01Speaker 1: morning until night until it was out of her system.
- 22:04Speaker 1: It was horrific.
- 22:05Speaker 2: That is crazy. So because she had like gas or something, yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Her gap, it was gases. You know, because at that time,
- 22:13Speaker 1: they're still trying to figure out how to push things
- 22:15Speaker 1: out of their system. They don't know you have a
- 22:17Speaker 1: tummy ache, and you're like, what do I do? When
- 22:19Speaker 1: you're a grown asked woman, You're like, gotta go to
- 22:21Speaker 1: the bathroom, lay on my belly, push it out, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 1: but she's just a little infant, Like, what is this feeling?
- 22:27Speaker 2: Have you ever seen the videos? I this is off topic,
- 22:30Speaker 2: it's not one of my questions. But nowadays of the
- 22:33Speaker 2: women who I literally just saw this first video a
- 22:36Speaker 2: couple months ago, the women or men who take their
- 22:41Speaker 2: baby's feet and like push the gas out.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I had to do that a lot with Ocean.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Really yeah, and it just comes out.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's actually very satisfying.
- 22:52Speaker 4: And you know what else I had to do with
- 22:53Speaker 4: my babies is they would get constipated, so I'd have
- 22:56Speaker 4: to give them suppositories.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I mean, like there's a lot that stuff that goes
- 23:01Speaker 3: into caring for these little guys.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I mean totally no, you're absolutely right. Because when Ocean
- 23:06Speaker 1: was born, if they don't poop within twenty four hours,
- 23:08Speaker 1: that's a sign of jaundice. And the nurse had to
- 23:11Speaker 1: come in and put a little vacoline on like the
- 23:13Speaker 1: tip of this thermometer and like massage inside so that
- 23:16Speaker 1: she would have a poop.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 23:20Speaker 3: She couldn't go home right until she had that first.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Pis she she couldn't go home until they cleared her
- 23:26Speaker 1: for and then literally I was I gave birth on
- 23:30Speaker 1: a Monday, I got to go home on a Tuesday,
- 23:32Speaker 1: and literally on Thursday, I was taking her to the doctor.
- 23:35Speaker 1: They had already been in communication, my pediatrician and cedar
- 23:38Speaker 1: Cyan I, so he knew what he was looking for.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Wow, my pediatrician, Yeah that is wow. See I didn't
- 23:45Speaker 2: know any of that. Okay. So then with breast milk,
- 23:49Speaker 2: that was another question.
- 23:50Speaker 1: By the way, what breast milk is not just for
- 23:53Speaker 1: feeding your baby if your baby gets little acne or
- 23:57Speaker 1: anything like that, Like the other day, Ocean got a
- 24:01Speaker 1: little mosquito bite. Yeah, I put the breast milk on
- 24:04Speaker 1: it and it literally went down the next day.
- 24:07Speaker 2: That's how amazing is that something your body produces as
- 24:11Speaker 2: like a miracle milk?
- 24:12Speaker 3: It is.
- 24:13Speaker 4: And I wish I had known that back in the
- 24:15Speaker 4: day because at five weeks Lauren got these little those
- 24:18Speaker 4: little pimplest baby.
- 24:19Speaker 1: It's really common.
- 24:20Speaker 4: And some breast milk would have totally cleared it up.
- 24:23Speaker 4: And I was putting all this other stuff on it
- 24:25Speaker 4: because nobody told me.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's a lot when you have a baby
- 24:29Speaker 1: and you're just expected there the hospital's like here, you
- 24:31Speaker 1: go take it home and you're like, what do I
- 24:33Speaker 1: do with it?
- 24:35Speaker 2: I have to keep this alive. Well, that's breast milk sells,
- 24:39Speaker 2: probably illegally, I don't know, but for a pretty penny
- 24:42Speaker 2: online to like bodybuilders.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I know I've heard that. Yeah, there's like a market,
- 24:46Speaker 1: a huge market market.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Well, speaking of breast milk, so obviously this is different
- 24:51Speaker 2: then from what you said. Women produce breast milk differently.
- 24:55Speaker 2: But one of my questions is, obviously your boobs start
- 24:59Speaker 2: getting so then when do you know that you have breastmlke?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Do they randomly start leaking one day?
- 25:06Speaker 1: No? I So in January I had wet spots on
- 25:11Speaker 1: my pj's and I was like, what is this. I
- 25:14Speaker 1: ran to my mom and I was like, what is this?
- 25:16Speaker 1: And she's like, that's claws strum it's coming in because
- 25:20Speaker 1: it was like this orange, not orange, but like yellow,
- 25:23Speaker 1: like a yellow. Ye. No, it's basically the fat that
- 25:28Speaker 1: comes like this, the fatty part that comes in before,
- 25:31Speaker 1: and it's very rich. It comes in first, and your baby,
- 25:35Speaker 1: if you're able to breastfeed, will take that first because
- 25:40Speaker 1: it's got a lot of nutrients in it. And then
- 25:43Speaker 1: your milk comes in, right, But my tits were so big, Jess,
- 25:48Speaker 1: they were awesome. I was like, these are the funnest bags.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Ever, you know.
- 25:53Speaker 4: And it's interesting too, because a lot of women will say, oh,
- 25:57Speaker 4: I felt my milk come in are or they'd be
- 25:59Speaker 4: so in gorge that they'd have to get in the
- 26:01Speaker 4: shower to relieve it.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I never had that ever, ever.
- 26:05Speaker 1: No, I had to actually see. I pumped a lot
- 26:07Speaker 1: as well because I had a lot of milk, and
- 26:11Speaker 1: when I was doing Watch What Happens Live in September,
- 26:15Speaker 1: I didn't take my pump because I'm like, I'm breastfeeding
- 26:19Speaker 1: her just in the morning, afternoon, night, right, Yeah, her
- 26:24Speaker 1: teeth are coming in. By the way, there's nothing more
- 26:27Speaker 1: painful than feeling a little baby tooth rip your nipple.
- 26:32Speaker 1: It is excruciating. But I was like, I won't need
- 26:36Speaker 1: to I can't imagine that that much milk would come in,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and it did. I was literally sitting in the shower
- 26:42Speaker 1: warming my boobs up and just pushing on them and
- 26:45Speaker 1: it was just like squirming everywhere.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I need to know, then, did you ever get curious
- 26:50Speaker 2: and turn it towards your mouth and try a little.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Well, breast milk is like liquid gold. So if there
- 26:56Speaker 1: was a bottle that Ocean took and she didn't finish it, yeah,
- 26:59Speaker 1: I would drink it because I didn't want it to
- 27:01Speaker 1: go to waste. And you know it's only good for
- 27:04Speaker 1: a certain amount of time. Yeah, so I would drink it. Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 1: But I was producing so much that I froze so much.
- 27:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 27:15Speaker 4: And I think going into this, I think I attribute
- 27:19Speaker 4: some of my not being able to breastfeed, not Milt
- 27:24Speaker 4: not coming in.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I had postpartum depression.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Oh, I love that you mentioned that.
- 27:29Speaker 3: What was though?
- 27:30Speaker 1: I remember you telling me, Mom that your best friend
- 27:33Speaker 1: Sid whose daughter is my best friend, we both have
- 27:36Speaker 1: babies that are six months apart. We started to give
- 27:39Speaker 1: them Lalla baby together. And you told me because you
- 27:42Speaker 1: had your first baby when she was having her last,
- 27:45Speaker 1: which is Olivia, and it was her fourth, and she
- 27:47Speaker 1: would come into your house and open the drapes you
- 27:50Speaker 1: to the mall totally.
- 27:51Speaker 4: I would be in my pajamas all day, the drape strawn,
- 27:54Speaker 4: the TV wasn't on.
- 27:55Speaker 3: She'd come over and.
- 27:56Speaker 4: She'd say, well, of course you're depressed, and she'd rip
- 27:59Speaker 4: open the rapes, turn on the TV, get me dressed,
- 28:02Speaker 4: make me go to the mall or do something. But
- 28:04Speaker 4: you know what was so freaky is I would be
- 28:08Speaker 4: doing something at that moment. Like I remember we were
- 28:11Speaker 4: at the mall and I was worried about what I
- 28:13Speaker 4: was going to be doing the next day or the
- 28:15Speaker 4: next week.
- 28:16Speaker 3: It was. It was not a good mind space for me.
- 28:18Speaker 1: That's depression, where you're concerned about where your headspace is
- 28:22Speaker 1: going to be when you have to go home.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a really common thing. And it's a huge
- 28:28Speaker 1: reason your experience mom was a huge reason why I
- 28:33Speaker 1: used Mommy made, which they encapsulate your placenta and you
- 28:39Speaker 1: have to remember your body forms an organ that it
- 28:44Speaker 1: then just gets rid of.
- 28:46Speaker 3: That is so amazing.
- 28:48Speaker 4: And you know, I think you guys are so lucky
- 28:50Speaker 4: in this day and age because mental health is spoken about.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Back it was spoken about, but I didn't talk about it. Yeah,
- 28:57Speaker 1: you know, but it was like taboo.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 4: And then I remember I would go in for be
- 29:02Speaker 4: twelve shots and they wanted to put me on an
- 29:04Speaker 4: antidepressant and I was too afraid that I would be
- 29:08Speaker 4: locked in and to what's the word I want to say,
- 29:12Speaker 4: dependent dependent on it? Yeah, you thought you'd be dependent
- 29:15Speaker 4: on the ansid, right.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Which is nothing wrong with taking an antidepressant.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But now in the day, it was just a different
- 29:24Speaker 1: day and age it was, and now everything is spoken about.
- 29:27Speaker 1: There's so many outlets for you to call and understand
- 29:30Speaker 1: what it is that you're feeling. We talk about chemical imbalances,
- 29:34Speaker 1: what happens after you give birth, and even beyond that exactly.
- 29:39Speaker 4: It's like, I say, you guys are so so lucky
- 29:42Speaker 4: that you're in this day and age.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 29:45Speaker 2: And that was another question I had about the placenta.
- 29:48Speaker 2: So obviously it's an organ that comes out of your body.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I have heard there's different ways. First things. First, I've
- 29:55Speaker 2: heard the rumors that eating your placenta ingesting it after
- 30:00Speaker 2: you have a baby can help with postpartum depression. Yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 2: did you find that accurate?
- 30:05Speaker 1: You know, I would feel I suffered from heavy depression
- 30:10Speaker 1: while I would like the first few months of my pregnancy,
- 30:13Speaker 1: and I felt guilty because I'm like, how when my
- 30:15Speaker 1: body is creating something that is you can give me
- 30:18Speaker 1: all of the scientific facts in the world on how
- 30:20Speaker 1: a baby is created and how it's born. Yeah, I
- 30:23Speaker 1: don't give a shit. That is nothing short of a
- 30:25Speaker 1: miracle period. So I would sit there and be like,
- 30:28Speaker 1: how are you depressed? You're creating a miracle right now.
- 30:31Speaker 1: So I got into this weird headspace. Luckily it subsided,
- 30:35Speaker 1: but there were times after, you know, I gave birth
- 30:38Speaker 1: that I'd be like, I'm a little down today. And
- 30:41Speaker 1: you know, Mommy Made gives you instructions when you're feeling
- 30:43Speaker 1: this way, take four of those capsules and face chug them.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And I did, and it absolutely helped.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Really, yes, and I'm so thankful that you had that.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I mean that really is truly, You're so blessed to
- 30:58Speaker 4: have had that.
- 30:59Speaker 1: No, I know, I recommend that to everybody you can find.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I actually follow Mommy Made on Instagram, so look them
- 31:06Speaker 1: up on my Instagram. They are the best. They made
- 31:10Speaker 1: it so easy for me. Literally, I just told my obi,
- 31:14Speaker 1: by the way, I'm gonna eat this thing in a capsule,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and he was like perfect. I brought my little cooler.
- 31:22Speaker 1: They picked it up and a few days later it
- 31:25Speaker 1: was like, here's your pills.
- 31:26Speaker 2: So that's what you do. You bring they give you
- 31:28Speaker 2: a cooler to bring yep, and then you give birth
- 31:31Speaker 2: and does the obgyn immediately put it in the cooler.
- 31:34Speaker 3: How does that work?
- 31:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they do whatever they do with the plus for
- 31:37Speaker 1: the placenta, and then they put it in the cooler
- 31:40Speaker 1: and your indirect contact with someone from Mommy Made. They say,
- 31:44Speaker 1: we'll be there in whatever timeframe they pick it up,
- 31:48Speaker 1: and you can actually look on their instagram on how
- 31:51Speaker 1: the process is done. It's crazy. And they even sent
- 31:54Speaker 1: oceans on bilical cord that was made into a heart
- 31:59Speaker 1: and painted, so I have that too.
- 32:02Speaker 2: That's so sweet. And how many days after you're home
- 32:05Speaker 2: from the hospital or after you give birth do you
- 32:07Speaker 2: get the pills?
- 32:08Speaker 1: It was pretty immediate, really, yeah, like it was a
- 32:12Speaker 1: couple of days maybe, yeah, really it was fast.
- 32:16Speaker 2: And it's just a free I'm assuming, like freeze dried placenta.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. And they're all colorful. You can
- 32:22Speaker 1: pick a flavor.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Isn't that the jar that you have on your counter?
- 32:26Speaker 3: That's that pretty? Like fisha ping?
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yep, that's exactly what it is.
- 32:29Speaker 2: And so okay, okay, so well, like Lalla said, they
- 32:32Speaker 2: have it on their instagram how it's done, so check
- 32:34Speaker 2: it out.
- 32:34Speaker 1: What is it?
- 32:35Speaker 2: Just Mommy made?
- 32:36Speaker 1: Mommy made encapsulation okay, yeah, and literally like my saving grace.
- 32:42Speaker 1: On that note, we're going to take a short break.
- 32:45Speaker 1: We will be right back with all things birth. Okay,
- 32:52Speaker 1: we're back. We've spoken about placentas. Are you gonna get
- 32:55Speaker 1: into nitty gritty because, by the way, you're gonna get
- 32:57Speaker 1: nitty gritty.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I've got the questions.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Okay, because by the way, what like, we haven't even
- 33:02Speaker 1: gotten into the part where they're like, time to put
- 33:05Speaker 1: the catheter in.
- 33:07Speaker 2: See, now, this is the stuff I need to hear.
- 33:09Speaker 3: So and the enema.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Okay, I didn't have an enema. I had no.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Wow, breaking news, Lisa had an enema when she was
- 33:21Speaker 2: giving birth to Laala. Everyone.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Wow, I didn't know that.
- 33:27Speaker 3: See how things have changed.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Maybe, Yeah, I was dilated to a five when I
- 33:31Speaker 4: got to the hospital and they immediately gave me an
- 33:34Speaker 4: enema and then they put the catheter.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yeah, like, oh wow, okay, really quick on dilation. This
- 33:42Speaker 2: is the dumbest question ever, But I need to know
- 33:44Speaker 2: because it's it's mind blowing. So when they say dilated
- 33:48Speaker 2: to a five or dilated to let's say a nine, right, Oh,
- 33:51Speaker 2: your baby's coming, Does that mean though that you they
- 33:55Speaker 2: go Laala's dilated to a seven? If you laid down
- 33:59Speaker 2: and spread your legs. Would I see a seven centimeter
- 34:02Speaker 2: hole right there? How does that?
- 34:03Speaker 1: Is that?
- 34:03Speaker 2: How it goes?
- 34:05Speaker 4: So, you know, I'm not quite sure. All I know
- 34:08Speaker 4: is when you're at a ten, you are given birth.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Baby.
- 34:10Speaker 1: But you you had your water break with me, right,
- 34:14Speaker 1: You weren't induced?
- 34:15Speaker 3: No, I was two weeks overdue with you. Okay. They
- 34:19Speaker 3: were telling me that they were.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Gonna induce me on a Monday Sunday. I remember speaking
- 34:24Speaker 4: to Sid and all of a sudden, I'd have these
- 34:26Speaker 4: pains and then i'd have another pain, and she's like,
- 34:29Speaker 4: we're gonna time them.
- 34:30Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden, she's like, you're in labor.
- 34:33Speaker 4: So I labored throughout the night at home, Okay, got
- 34:36Speaker 4: up at seven o'clock. Of course I didn't get up.
- 34:38Speaker 4: I was already at but Dad got up at seven
- 34:41Speaker 4: o'clock in the morning. We headed to the hospital and
- 34:44Speaker 4: I was dilated to a five and like I said,
- 34:47Speaker 4: and then at one twenty three, I had a baby girl.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was not that new. Like tell I
- 34:54Speaker 1: fast forwarded much.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Now you a traumatic experience, very.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Traumatic, Like I got in there and your heart rate dropped.
- 35:04Speaker 3: They had to put oxygen on me.
- 35:07Speaker 4: And then the doctor came in and was looking at
- 35:09Speaker 4: the heartbeat papers. Back in the day, I don't know
- 35:12Speaker 4: what they do now, and he said, we have to
- 35:14Speaker 4: get this baby out.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Now.
- 35:15Speaker 4: I had a nurse laying on my stomach. He was
- 35:17Speaker 4: inside me trying to flip the baby around. He got
- 35:21Speaker 4: four sets that were snapping, and I thought they were
- 35:23Speaker 4: pulling my baby's hat off. My poor mother did not
- 35:27Speaker 4: want to be in the delivery room. She was with me,
- 35:29Speaker 4: but once I was going to give birth, she wanted to,
- 35:31Speaker 4: you know, be out. She poor thing was pinned against
- 35:35Speaker 4: the wall and my best friend said was there, and
- 35:38Speaker 4: obviously my husband And all of a sudden, I'm pushing
- 35:42Speaker 4: there laying on my stomach and this purple this is
- 35:46Speaker 4: what Sid and Kent tell me, this purple like cone
- 35:51Speaker 4: starts appearing and they look at each other like, oh
- 35:53Speaker 4: my gosh, like what is wrong with this baby? Like
- 35:57Speaker 4: then she they got her out and they whist her
- 36:00Speaker 4: away to the nic U unit. For five hours, I
- 36:03Speaker 4: didn't even get to see her. I mean, mine was
- 36:05Speaker 4: a very traumatic berth, very traumatic.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So what was the purple cone?
- 36:11Speaker 2: Was that her head?
- 36:12Speaker 4: She was in the birth canal and though so that
- 36:15Speaker 4: was part of and the trauma of trying to get
- 36:17Speaker 4: her out.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Look at her now, no conehead, Miles.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Well, who knows that never shaved my head. I could
- 36:29Speaker 1: still be there, still be there.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Let's get in. I need to know the obvious. Okay,
- 36:35Speaker 2: poop key and did the space I'm not going to
- 36:39Speaker 2: use medical terms. Did the space between your vagina and
- 36:41Speaker 2: your butthole rip? So while you're pushing, did you poop?
- 36:45Speaker 2: Did you pee? And did that space rip? I know
- 36:47Speaker 2: there's a medical term.
- 36:48Speaker 3: I didn't poop.
- 36:49Speaker 4: And as far as they they snipped me, Oh yeah,
- 36:53Speaker 4: they snipped me.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Yes, wow eezyotomy you go, Glenn Coco, you know all
- 37:01Speaker 1: the medical No, they didn't snip me. I did not poop,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and there was no pee because I had a catheter
- 37:09Speaker 1: and had a cat by the way, it was awesome.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Wait tell us about the catheter, because that makes me scared.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Don't let it make you scared. The most traumatic part
- 37:17Speaker 1: of my birthing experience was the most basic, which is
- 37:20Speaker 1: when you go in and they put the ivy in
- 37:22Speaker 1: your arm. Really, oh yeah, I passed out twice. They
- 37:25Speaker 1: thought I was seizing but I wasn't seizing because Ocean's
- 37:28Speaker 1: heart rate didn't drop. Okay, but I was fully out
- 37:32Speaker 1: cold twice. I'm a freak when it comes to needles.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I don't want to hear them talking about I can't
- 37:37Speaker 1: find the vein. I'm like, I'm gonna pass out. That
- 37:43Speaker 1: is enough to make me black out and I'm just done. No.
- 37:48Speaker 1: So once we got through that, and they did the epidural,
- 37:53Speaker 1: which was no issue for me, like, just don't tell
- 37:55Speaker 1: me about it.
- 37:55Speaker 2: The epidural is the big thing up your spine.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Yes, that numbs you, That numbs you.
- 38:00Speaker 4: And everybody wanted to tell me their horror stories about
- 38:02Speaker 4: their epidural.
- 38:03Speaker 3: So that was another fun fact.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Did you I learned? Was it fine?
- 38:08Speaker 3: It was a piece of cake.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Piece of cake for me too. They shoved it in
- 38:11Speaker 1: whatever I was. I was having anxiety about the fact
- 38:14Speaker 1: that I was so numb. I felt like humpty dumpty.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Really I felt like a rolling egg. I was like,
- 38:18Speaker 1: this is I'm gonna freak out, like I can't feel
- 38:22Speaker 1: my legs, you know, and the reason you just know,
- 38:27Speaker 1: you just know, your body just knows. Yeah, And I
- 38:29Speaker 1: kept asking them, am I doing it? And they're like
- 38:30Speaker 1: you're doing fantastic, Like she's right, I'm looking at her.
- 38:35Speaker 1: It was crazy.
- 38:36Speaker 2: So let's go back to the catheter. How do they
- 38:38Speaker 2: put that in?
- 38:38Speaker 1: They shove it little thing in your tea hole, in
- 38:41Speaker 1: your peep hole. Yeah, but you can't feel it because
- 38:43Speaker 1: you've already had your epidural. Okay, yeah, And then they
- 38:46Speaker 1: come in and empty the bag every so often. You're
- 38:49Speaker 1: straight chilling.
- 38:50Speaker 2: So the bag is where can you see it filling up?
- 38:52Speaker 1: I didn't see the bag. I couldn't see the bag.
- 38:54Speaker 3: It was hung on the side of the bed.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Yummy, who's horny? No, I didn't see the bag of
- 39:01Speaker 1: pea at all. In fact, they would come in to
- 39:07Speaker 1: check to see if I was dilated anymore, and it
- 39:10Speaker 1: was time to break my water, and I was so comfortable.
- 39:15Speaker 1: After they broke my water, they were like, we're gonna
- 39:16Speaker 1: change the sheets because it's very wet, and I was like,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I can't feel anything, so just leave it.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Really yeah, yes, I remember that.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I got the best sleep of my life.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Really yes, Okay, then here's my question. We're going we're
- 39:31Speaker 2: moving on to pain because I have heard the comparison
- 39:35Speaker 2: use that I've heard multiple times is it's like a
- 39:37Speaker 2: football coming through your nostril. That doesn't seem accurate. But
- 39:41Speaker 2: like maybe if you don't have an epidural, did you
- 39:43Speaker 2: feel pain?
- 39:45Speaker 4: You know, I was in pain up until I went
- 39:46Speaker 4: to the hospital, and that's right epidural. But I've also
- 39:50Speaker 4: been told I have that very high pain tolerance. I've
- 39:52Speaker 4: passed kidney stones twice on my own, so doctor.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Sad me that.
- 39:56Speaker 3: So I don't know.
- 39:57Speaker 2: De Savage, that's amazing.
- 40:00Speaker 1: She would have done well in like the stone ages.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh do.
- 40:03Speaker 1: You think I would?
- 40:04Speaker 2: I would have died at the end of the world
- 40:07Speaker 2: comes she's on our team.
- 40:08Speaker 1: One hundred percent. Because my apidural kind of wore off,
- 40:11Speaker 1: like the button wasn't working. Yeah, and it like wasn't
- 40:15Speaker 1: that bad, but for me, it was excruciating. I was like,
- 40:17Speaker 1: this needs to be fixed with media.
- 40:20Speaker 2: It was so you could feel the baby coming out ocean.
- 40:23Speaker 1: It more is like cramping, like have you ever had
- 40:27Speaker 1: period cramps? Yes, of course, so intensify that by like
- 40:31Speaker 1: a hundred.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Okay, see that doesn't feel like it's that much pain
- 40:35Speaker 2: to me, though.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Well that's because you're a bad app by one hundred though, yeah, maybe,
- 40:40Speaker 1: But if someone out there like that doesn't sound that bad.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I'm like, it's horrific.
- 40:46Speaker 2: My thing is if I feel the hole at the
- 40:50Speaker 2: bottom of me like ripping.
- 40:51Speaker 1: No, don't get that out of your head. You don't
- 40:53Speaker 1: even know you have a hole down there. Really, you're
- 40:55Speaker 1: so numb you don't know.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Shit.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Okay, you forget you forget that you even have a
- 41:00Speaker 1: bottom half of your body. Really, yes, And when they're
- 41:04Speaker 1: telling you to push, yeah, you feel pressure, but it's
- 41:08Speaker 1: not painful. Now after it wears off and you go home,
- 41:12Speaker 1: you feel like someone's taking a sledgehammer from the inside
- 41:16Speaker 1: of your vagina.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Oh no, oh see now this lots of questions on this.
- 41:22Speaker 3: What did you have a donut? I don't remember. Did
- 41:25Speaker 3: you sit on the donut?
- 41:26Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 41:26Speaker 3: Me too, bed though, what.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Do we mean by donut?
- 41:30Speaker 1: We need to know.
- 41:32Speaker 3: It's like an inflatable inner tube that you sit on, sit.
- 41:36Speaker 1: On when when you're in a city, at the table
- 41:39Speaker 1: or wherever you so that there's not direct pressure on
- 41:42Speaker 1: your huh. Okay, ok And I did rip a little bit.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I had like two stitches, and it was every time
- 41:48Speaker 1: you'd go to the bathroom, which, by the way, you can't.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Wipe you can't wipe, do they The stitches just dissolve.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Yes, they dissolve. But you they give you like this
- 41:57Speaker 1: little douchey thing. Yeah that you you pee, then you
- 42:00Speaker 1: spray it, then witch hazel pads for you to pat it, okay,
- 42:06Speaker 1: and then you let it air dry your vagina. Your vagina,
- 42:11Speaker 1: you're pretty little.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Set air dry.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Let it air dry. You're not supposed to rub it
- 42:15Speaker 1: at all, just gently pat okay.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Yep.
- 42:19Speaker 1: And I liked the ice pads by Freda. There's like
- 42:23Speaker 1: a giant pad you like, just snap it a little
- 42:27Speaker 1: bit and it releases the little things that make it cold. Yeah,
- 42:30Speaker 1: those were a lifesaver. They also gave me spray to
- 42:35Speaker 1: numb it. But when you have a baby, yeah, go
- 42:40Speaker 1: and get either Depends or Secret diaper, you know diapers
- 42:46Speaker 1: by Secret, the little liner companies. Okay, so full sized diapers,
- 42:50Speaker 1: full sized diapers. You're gonna live in them, and it's
- 42:52Speaker 1: just so much easier to take them off and throw
- 42:54Speaker 1: them away for how long depending on how long you're bleeding.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I mean I was probably in mind for a good
- 42:59Speaker 1: three weeks.
- 43:00Speaker 2: And you're bleeding just from your body is just bleeding.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I mean, you just had a baby there.
- 43:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, it's so it's kind of the lining
- 43:09Speaker 4: sluffing off. Everything's kind of sluffing off.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 1: And also if you ripped like I did, there's gonna
- 43:14Speaker 1: be a little bit of blood from that. It's just
- 43:16Speaker 1: like your body just pushed out a living human being.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, nitty gritty, did you take a mirror and
- 43:23Speaker 2: look at your vagina? How different did it look like?
- 43:25Speaker 2: What did it look like stretched? And how long until
- 43:28Speaker 2: it snaps back?
- 43:29Speaker 1: My cookie looked cuter after childbirth. Really, she snapped back
- 43:33Speaker 1: like a rubber band. Sure it did.
- 43:38Speaker 3: I don't remember looking at it. No, I don't know.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Really, it's interesting.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Oh I remember laying in my closet spread eagle, being like,
- 43:47Speaker 1: you're a badass bitch.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Really and it snaps back because and I don't think
- 43:50Speaker 2: my mom would care about saying this, but my mom
- 43:52Speaker 2: did have five kids. So, like, I remember jumping on
- 43:56Speaker 2: the trampoline and she would come jump on the trampoline
- 43:58Speaker 2: with us and then be like, oh my god, I
- 44:00Speaker 2: have to get off the trempline because she was literally
- 44:02Speaker 2: peeing her pants.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Was it p though or juice? Because I juice way
- 44:06Speaker 1: more now that I've had ocean really.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so it's just like discharge.
- 44:12Speaker 1: It's just whatever yumminess that is, like a slip and slide.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Oh, speaking of slip and slide, we're back to birth.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Mucus plug. What in the world is a mucus plug?
- 44:23Speaker 2: And when does it come out? Lisa help?
- 44:26Speaker 1: Okay, so I heard about this. Do you know anything
- 44:28Speaker 1: about it? No?
- 44:29Speaker 3: I never even experienced that. But they had to break
- 44:31Speaker 3: my water.
- 44:32Speaker 1: So I had to break mine too. So I've heard
- 44:35Speaker 1: about the mucus plug. Yeah, but I didn't experience it.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Okay, So my boyfriend Kyle knows a lot about childbirth
- 44:43Speaker 2: for some reason, and he said the mucus plug was
- 44:47Speaker 2: something that comes out before your water breaks, like the mucus.
- 44:51Speaker 2: It's like mucus in there.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I know this too because of Sid's daughter.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Yeah, they were really into like what about her mucus plug?
- 44:58Speaker 1: And I was like, I don't know what that is.
- 45:00Speaker 1: But again, I was induced, so I was laying in
- 45:02Speaker 1: a hospital bed and they were just dealing with whatever
- 45:04Speaker 1: was happening down there.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Okay, if anyone knows the exact thing of what a
- 45:08Speaker 2: mucus plug is, we're not going to google this comment
- 45:11Speaker 2: and lawless.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Photos on Instagram.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Yeah, or call in to the podcast. Yes, a call in, yes,
- 45:16Speaker 1: and tell us what a mucus plug is? Eight six
- 45:19Speaker 1: six La La pod because I want to know.
- 45:22Speaker 2: We all want to know. Okay, so we're back. You
- 45:24Speaker 2: had to wear a diaper?
- 45:26Speaker 1: Yes?
- 45:26Speaker 2: How long until you can have sex again? And is
- 45:29Speaker 2: it painful when you do?
- 45:30Speaker 1: It? Was six weeks they recommend.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to have a six week check up
- 45:35Speaker 4: to clear before you can do anything.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Yeah, any sort of exercise, sex, finger banging yourself, all
- 45:43Speaker 1: of it.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Were you fine after six weeks, either of you? Or
- 45:46Speaker 2: did you have to wait? No?
- 45:47Speaker 3: I was totally clear.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Good to know, good to know. What about douching, then,
- 45:53Speaker 2: is that just like a thing you have to do regularly?
- 45:55Speaker 1: You just like hold the douche.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Oh, you don't out, you don't know.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Do You don't put any anything in there, and that's
- 46:01Speaker 1: just to clean it from the outside.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Because you don't get your affection right and you can
- 46:07Speaker 2: get an infection with putting things in there after you
- 46:09Speaker 2: have a baby.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Yes, because it's all toe up in there. Oh, so
- 46:13Speaker 1: you do it from the outside. You squirt it down,
- 46:16Speaker 1: No soap, just warm water. Okay. And it's funny because
- 46:21Speaker 1: I remember you asking me about the smell.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it does it smell.
- 46:24Speaker 1: It doesn't smell bad. Okay, there's for me, it smelled
- 46:29Speaker 1: like medical and I actually I was obsessed with everything
- 46:35Speaker 1: that was happening to my body after I gave birth.
- 46:38Speaker 2: See, and that's what. And you just loved it. Because
- 46:40Speaker 2: you loved it, you have your miracle, like you have
- 46:43Speaker 2: a miracle in front of you.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I just felt like I am a woman.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Hear me, roar.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I just gave like I have. I've never felt so
- 46:50Speaker 1: much like a strong, beautiful woman.
- 46:54Speaker 3: And you were and looked like a strong beautiful woman
- 46:57Speaker 3: and you are.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Thank you. But yeah, after childbirth, there's something that for me.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I know that a lot of my friends struggled after
- 47:04Speaker 1: they gave birth with their body because your body is
- 47:07Speaker 1: not yours anymore. Yeah, your boobs are not just these
- 47:10Speaker 1: sexy things that are for Kyle to play with. Yes,
- 47:12Speaker 1: those belong to the baby. They're feeding her. Your body
- 47:17Speaker 1: isn't yours anymore. Yeah. I was okay with that. I
- 47:19Speaker 1: loved it.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you just felt like mama and you just have
- 47:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, I mean that is I mean, hello,
- 47:25Speaker 2: that's beautiful, She's like.
- 47:27Speaker 4: And you know, I think both Lauren and I were
- 47:29Speaker 4: super lucky too, because at my six week checkup, I
- 47:32Speaker 4: was back to my pre pregnancy weight and I think
- 47:35Speaker 4: Lauren was too, which you know is we have to
- 47:39Speaker 4: be very grateful for that.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. And people ask me like, what did
- 47:43Speaker 1: you do? And I have to just say it was genetics.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because you didn't do anything spec and you didn't
- 47:49Speaker 2: even seem I mean, I started working for you three
- 47:52Speaker 2: months after Ocean was born, but you didn't seem you
- 47:55Speaker 2: were just like, I'm just it's not like you were
- 47:57Speaker 2: a woman who was like I need to get back
- 48:00Speaker 2: to this body. You were just like you seemed thankful
- 48:02Speaker 2: for your body and just like it's going to do
- 48:04Speaker 2: what it's going to do right now. Yeah.
- 48:06Speaker 1: And I think when I express how I felt about
- 48:08Speaker 1: my body, there have been commons where it's like, well,
- 48:11Speaker 1: of course you would think about your body that way,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I mean, look at it, but mentally you don't think
- 48:19Speaker 1: that way after you give birth, right, you don't think,
- 48:21Speaker 1: oh my gosh, my bounce back is amazing. Like I
- 48:24Speaker 1: acknowledge as an outsider how people would say that, Yeah,
- 48:29Speaker 1: but mentally I still gave birth like everybody else. Yes,
- 48:33Speaker 1: I'm very lucky that my bounce back was very quick. Yeah,
- 48:37Speaker 1: but I still felt like things are sitting different.
- 48:41Speaker 2: That was another question. Oh, for sure, you know, is
- 48:44Speaker 2: your body forever change? Because I have a friend who
- 48:47Speaker 2: was like, who actually was happy about it, but she
- 48:50Speaker 2: was like, I never had hips. Look at these hips now. Yeah,
- 48:53Speaker 2: like I heard your hips sort of you blow out or.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't really fit into any of my genes.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I remember telling my mom, I need to go Jean
- 49:01Speaker 1: shopping so that I can and throw these out. And
- 49:03Speaker 1: she was like, no, no, no, you gotta wait because
- 49:05Speaker 1: now I fit right back into them.
- 49:07Speaker 2: So your body doesn't permanently change, or it does in
- 49:10Speaker 2: some ways.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I think it depends on who you are.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I think it depends on who you are too.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:15Speaker 4: I think some people get you know, curvier and more volumptuous,
- 49:19Speaker 4: and others, you know, go back to what they were before.
- 49:21Speaker 3: It just I think it's an individual thing for sure.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I felt like my body was. I loved
- 49:27Speaker 1: my body after I gave birth because I've always loved
- 49:32Speaker 1: I've always loved women with me on them who are
- 49:35Speaker 1: curvy and volumptuous, like I've always wanted in the fall. Yeah,
- 49:38Speaker 1: like I've always loved that. I've always said, like, give
- 49:42Speaker 1: me Ashley Graham on a silver platter and I will
- 49:45Speaker 1: be the happiest girl in the entire world. I am
- 49:49Speaker 1: grateful for my genetics. But I've always, even when I
- 49:53Speaker 1: was a young kid, wanted to be curvy. Yeah, like
- 49:57Speaker 1: big boobs, the hips, the big but I always wanted
- 50:02Speaker 1: that really yeah, and I've tried to get it in
- 50:04Speaker 1: the gym and it just doesn't happen.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Well, it's funny that we all want what we don't have.
- 50:09Speaker 4: I mean, don't you feel that way?
- 50:10Speaker 3: Yes, hello, yeah.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 50:13Speaker 1: But my dream woman is curvy and sexy, and like,
- 50:18Speaker 1: just give me all of the curves, all the curves.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Yes, we love curbs. I love curves. Okay, this is
- 50:24Speaker 2: gonna be one of the last ones. But I do
- 50:27Speaker 2: want to know, because it's not clear to me. Can
- 50:30Speaker 2: you just breastfeed forever? Obviously, people, a lot of people,
- 50:34Speaker 2: I mean most people wouldn't choose to do that. Can
- 50:36Speaker 2: you just some women just choose however long I want
- 50:39Speaker 2: to pump, you just have milk in there.
- 50:41Speaker 1: You want to know what's so crazy is I was
- 50:43Speaker 1: watching Old school Housewives of Orange County and I remember
- 50:50Speaker 1: Shannon Badore. She like mentioned that if she hears a
- 50:55Speaker 1: baby cry like she'll start lactating. And Andy Cohen asked
- 50:59Speaker 1: her about it on the Union and she was like, yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 1: I could still produce milk. So that's an interesting question.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I've heard breast milk is supply and demand, like now
- 51:08Speaker 1: that ocean. It's funny because with her teeth coming in,
- 51:12Speaker 1: depending on the day, if it's morning time, she'll sucky sucky,
- 51:16Speaker 1: no biting, nighttime sucky sucky, no biting. Mid day. It's
- 51:21Speaker 1: a chew toy, feed and bite. So for me, it's
- 51:25Speaker 1: like supply and demand. If I used to feed her
- 51:29Speaker 1: every single meal from the boobe. Yeah, my boobs were huge,
- 51:33Speaker 1: just filled with milk. Now it's kind of lessened, but
- 51:37Speaker 1: I think it is supply and demand if you choose
- 51:40Speaker 1: to feed your kid, even if it's once a day
- 51:42Speaker 1: from the boobe. I have heard of kids that are
- 51:44Speaker 1: like five still sucking on the baby.
- 51:46Speaker 3: I actually have.
- 51:47Speaker 4: A friend and she nursed her baby till I think
- 51:49Speaker 4: she was almost four.
- 51:51Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 51:52Speaker 3: What I kid you not?
- 51:55Speaker 2: That is incredible.
- 51:56Speaker 1: It is because if you think about it, if the
- 51:59Speaker 1: world comes to an and there's no food, you want
- 52:01Speaker 1: to be with a mom who's nursing because we're all
- 52:03Speaker 1: going to need to take a turn.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Yes, well, it goes back to I don't know the
- 52:08Speaker 2: actual like hardcore facts on the tribal days, but it
- 52:12Speaker 2: was like women would always that's why periods sync up,
- 52:15Speaker 2: you guys. And again we can fact check this with
- 52:18Speaker 2: an expert, but that's why periods sync up because it
- 52:21Speaker 2: was always easiest for women and tribes to be on
- 52:24Speaker 2: the same cycle, to give birth at the same to
- 52:27Speaker 2: breastfeed at the same because women would just breastfeed all
- 52:30Speaker 2: the babies, right.
- 52:32Speaker 3: I think that is so cool.
- 52:33Speaker 1: It's amazing women. It is a miracle. No, I've always
- 52:40Speaker 1: loved women. So let's talk about all the things that
- 52:43Speaker 1: women can do.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Wow.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Well, congratulations to everyone who's given birth, because what a
- 52:49Speaker 2: ride it is.
- 52:50Speaker 3: It is.
- 52:51Speaker 1: It's very intense, but like I said, you forget about
- 52:53Speaker 1: all of the things that are not great because you
- 52:55Speaker 1: have like this perfect little human who's you.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just thinking. Amen to moms area.
- 53:02Speaker 1: They're superheroes.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Celebrate moms.
- 53:04Speaker 1: They really are.
- 53:06Speaker 4: So whether you have a surrogate, whether you adopted, whether
- 53:09Speaker 4: you gave birth.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Doesn't I always say that, stars. I love that you
- 53:12Speaker 1: said that, Mom, because I say that all the time.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I'm like, it doesn't matter how your kid got here.
- 53:16Speaker 1: There's something that happens when you know your baby is
- 53:18Speaker 1: on the way that you are just you just become
- 53:21Speaker 1: like this like incredible force. You become like a mama bear. Yeah,
- 53:27Speaker 1: you'll die for your kid and you'll take someone out
- 53:29Speaker 1: for them, so be prepared.
- 53:31Speaker 2: And that's amazing. And yes, no, you're so right, Lisa.
- 53:33Speaker 2: That goes to all of the women. So many women
- 53:36Speaker 2: can't have babies, and so many women choose to not
- 53:39Speaker 2: be mothers, and whatever path you choose, I think it's incredible.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Women are incredible in general. But I think celebrating it
- 53:46Speaker 2: all is beautiful.
- 53:47Speaker 1: What an amazing podcast today. Thank you Mama for joining us.
