Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to take a
• 0:06
Speaker 1: look at two different articles short articles, one about Jess
• 0:09
Speaker 1: Staley and the other about Leon Black. And when it
• 0:14
Speaker 1: comes to Jess Staley, well, Barclays is in another battle
• 0:20
Speaker 1: over Jess Daly's behavior, but this time with their own investors,
• 0:26
Speaker 1: and that's because these investors sued Barclays and they say
• 0:30
Speaker 1: that they were misled about Jess Daley and his relationship
• 0:34
Speaker 1: with Jeffrey Epstein. And in our second article from Politico,
• 0:40
Speaker 1: James Comer is once again threatening to hit Leon Black
• 0:44
Speaker 1: with contempt charges if he doesn't comply with the requests
• 0:48
Speaker 1: of the Congressional Committee. And if we know anything about
• 0:51
Speaker 1: Leon Black, we know that he's not going to be compliant.
• 0:55
Speaker 1: He thinks that the rules don't apply to him, that
• 1:00
Speaker 1: he can say and do whatever he wants, no matter
• 1:02
Speaker 1: what Congress or anybody else tells him. So, sticking with
• 1:06
Speaker 1: the Leon Black angle, why don't we dive into this
• 1:09
Speaker 1: political article first and see what they have to say
• 1:12
Speaker 1: about James Comer and his threats to Leon Black. This
• 1:17
Speaker 1: article was authored by Chris Marquette, House Oversight chair James
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Comer on Tuesday wrote a blistering letter to the lawyers
• 1:25
Speaker 1: of Leon Black, threatening to hold the billionaire Apollo Global
• 1:29
Speaker 1: Management founder in contempt of Congress. Well, it's about time,
• 1:35
Speaker 1: and this is what you get with your voluntary bullshit,
• 1:38
Speaker 1: mister Comer. Why are these interviews voluntary subpoena? People bring
• 1:42
Speaker 1: them in and let's get busy. Why are we screwing around?
• 1:46
Speaker 1: That's the real question out here, playing touch ass. The
• 1:52
Speaker 1: threat comes after Black, who paid the late convicted sex
• 1:55
Speaker 1: trafficker Jeffrey Epstein tens of millions of dollars, refused to
• 1:58
Speaker 1: answer the panel's question about possible non disclosure agreements he
• 2:02
Speaker 1: had signed with women tied to Epstein. Oh and that
• 2:06
Speaker 1: really set them off, right, Hell, dare you ask me
• 2:09
Speaker 1: about women that I've been cheating on my wife with,
• 2:11
Speaker 1: you scumbag, You absolute piece of shit, having a sick
• 2:16
Speaker 1: wife at home and out here creeping with all these
• 2:18
Speaker 1: other women and making them sign NDAs. Black has since
• 2:25
Speaker 1: produced one NDA after being subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee. Comer,
• 2:30
Speaker 1: in his Tuesday letter, said that was insufficient and demanded
• 2:34
Speaker 1: more of the documents, while floating the contemn vote. If
• 2:37
Speaker 1: Black refuses, imagine they hold somebody accountable for once. That
• 2:42
Speaker 1: would be awesome. And as far as I'm concerned, Leon
• 2:46
Speaker 1: Black is as much of an important figure in the
• 2:48
Speaker 1: rise of Epstein as somebody like Les Wexner. And I
• 2:52
Speaker 1: know that Wexner has gotten a lot of attention, and
• 2:54
Speaker 1: he should, but mister Leon Black is right there neck
• 2:58
Speaker 1: and neck when a come to people that were important
• 3:01
Speaker 1: to the rise of Epstein. The panel is hoping that
• 3:05
Speaker 1: the NDAs might shed further light on how Epstein and
• 3:08
Speaker 1: his network were able to sexually exploit women and girls
• 3:11
Speaker 1: and evade liability for decades. Susan Strich, a lawyer for Black,
• 3:16
Speaker 1: said that the Oversight Committee's letter misrepresents the facts. Oh,
• 3:20
Speaker 1: of course it does. Mister Black has always been nothing
• 3:23
Speaker 1: but truthful. He's never behaved in a manner that would
• 3:26
Speaker 1: call his truthfulness into question. Right, Mister Black provided the
• 3:30
Speaker 1: committee with the only confidentiality agreement that predated Epstein's death
• 3:35
Speaker 1: and the only one of which Epstein was aware, as
• 3:38
Speaker 1: Rich said in a statement. Comer in the letter said
• 3:42
Speaker 1: the production of a singular non disclosure agreement after the
• 3:46
Speaker 1: committee agreed to extend the deadline in good faith by
• 3:48
Speaker 1: two weeks is insufficient to fulfill the requirement of the subpoena,
• 3:53
Speaker 1: considering your letter fails to articulate that there are no
• 3:56
Speaker 1: further non disclosure agreements and seems to imply additionally non
• 4:00
Speaker 1: disclosure agreements exist. So, in other words, pony up, let's
• 4:05
Speaker 1: see what you got. Quit screwn around, give us the goods.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: We know you have it, Let's see it now. My
• 4:12
Speaker 1: problem is that comer never has any follow through. Bro
• 4:16
Speaker 1: talks a big game, but never follows through with it.
• 4:19
Speaker 1: Does he, Oh, well, we're gonna hold this one in
• 4:22
Speaker 1: contempt and we're going to get answers over a year later.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: What answers do we have? The Committee demands full compliance
• 4:33
Speaker 1: with the subpoena and rejects any attempts at further disrupting
• 4:36
Speaker 1: or delaying this investigation. He wrote. The panel has been
• 4:40
Speaker 1: working to get Black to appear for a videotaped transcribe
• 4:43
Speaker 1: deposition September three, and has been negotiating with this legal
• 4:47
Speaker 1: team about the terms of the appearance and what documents
• 4:51
Speaker 1: he'd produce. If mister Black refuses to provide the committee
• 4:55
Speaker 1: with responsive documents or refuses to appear for his scheduled
• 4:58
Speaker 1: deposition on September third, twenty twenty six. The committee will
• 5:02
Speaker 1: use all tools at its disposal, including contempt. Comer said, well,
• 5:07
Speaker 1: I'll believe it when I see it. A lot of
• 5:12
Speaker 1: tough talk from somebody that has shown us so far
• 5:15
Speaker 1: that they're not willing to follow through with any kind
• 5:18
Speaker 1: of action. So we'll see what James Comer has to
• 5:21
Speaker 1: say moving forward, and we'll see if any kind of
• 5:24
Speaker 1: repercussions come Leon Black's way. All right, moving on to
• 5:29
Speaker 1: our second article, and this article is from the Telegraph
• 5:33
Speaker 1: headline Barclays faces legal fight with investors over a boss's
• 5:38
Speaker 1: Epstein links. This article was authored by Luke Barr and
• 5:43
Speaker 1: Lewis Goss. Barclays faces a legal fight with investors overclaims
• 5:48
Speaker 1: they were misled about Jess Staley's ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Oh,
• 5:52
Speaker 1: I would think they were misled. I would think so,
• 5:56
Speaker 1: And if I was an investor at Barclay's, I'd be
• 5:58
Speaker 1: pissed too. Imagine investing a bunch of money with a
• 6:02
Speaker 1: bank and then finding out that you got lied to
• 6:04
Speaker 1: about Epstein and his involvement with the CEO. Not exactly
• 6:08
Speaker 1: the kind of information you want to receive sharing the quarterlies.
• 6:14
Speaker 1: The British banking giant Risbying sued for hundreds of millions
• 6:17
Speaker 1: of pounds in the High Court in the first UK
• 6:20
Speaker 1: claim triggered by the action of his former chief executive,
• 6:24
Speaker 1: and they should be they lied. Let's be very clear, Okay,
• 6:28
Speaker 1: Barclays lied. They said that they did a vetting process.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: They looked into Jess Day they found that he wasn't
• 6:35
Speaker 1: telling lies and that he was being very open about
• 6:38
Speaker 1: his relationship with Ebstein. In reality, none of that was true.
• 6:44
Speaker 1: And Jess Staley was always close to Ebstein, close enough
• 6:47
Speaker 1: that he visited the island on his own, close enough
• 6:51
Speaker 1: that he would write Jeffrey Epstein emails about snow white
• 6:54
Speaker 1: and beauty and the beast, whatever the fuck that means,
• 6:57
Speaker 1: and close enough that he had said with one of
• 7:00
Speaker 1: Epstein's assistants. Now, whether that was assault or not, we
• 7:06
Speaker 1: don't know yet because we don't know who the assistant
• 7:09
Speaker 1: is that he had his little tryst with. Now, according
• 7:12
Speaker 1: to Jess Staley it was consensual, But I have my doubts.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: If a woman is being trafficked, how can it be consensual?
• 7:20
Speaker 1: So we have to find out which woman it was
• 7:23
Speaker 1: before we can make the leap right, But either way,
• 7:26
Speaker 1: not exactly a great look for Jess Staley. The investors
• 7:33
Speaker 1: who were being represented by City Litigation Fund Woodsford claimed
• 7:37
Speaker 1: to have suffered vast stock market losses when the truth
• 7:40
Speaker 1: about mister Staley's ties to Epstein came to light. Mister
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Staley was close friends with Epstein and even visited him
• 7:47
Speaker 1: while he was serving his prison sentence for procuring a
• 7:50
Speaker 1: minor for a prostitution. Imagine being that brain dead. Oh,
• 7:56
Speaker 1: let me go and visit this dude who's sitting in
• 7:57
Speaker 1: jail for molesting a child. Oh wait, I'm sorry. She
• 8:02
Speaker 1: was seventeen, and you know that makes it okay. She's
• 8:05
Speaker 1: a prostitute, so it's okay. Who gives a shit, Just
• 8:08
Speaker 1: another poor vulnerable girl, No big deal. That's how the
• 8:12
Speaker 1: men of Forever look at everybody, your kids included. He
• 8:16
Speaker 1: had first met Epstein in nineteen ninety nine while head
• 8:19
Speaker 1: of JP Morgan's private banking division. However, it's claimed that
• 8:23
Speaker 1: Barclays failed to disclose the true extent of mister Staley's
• 8:27
Speaker 1: relationship with Epstein to investors for the entirety of his
• 8:31
Speaker 1: tenure as the bank's chief executive And that was a
• 8:34
Speaker 1: big deal, right when he got that ban from the
• 8:40
Speaker 1: city from the UK Regulatory Board, it's a big deal.
• 8:46
Speaker 1: I mean, tell me you're guilty without telling me. Mister Staley,
• 8:50
Speaker 1: who ran Barclays between twenty fifteen and twenty twenty one,
• 8:54
Speaker 1: was later issued with a one point one million pound
• 8:57
Speaker 1: fine and a lifetime ban from the city his relationship
• 9:01
Speaker 1: with disgrace pedophile Financier. This came after mister Staley was
• 9:05
Speaker 1: found to have misled Barclays about the nature of his
• 9:08
Speaker 1: relationship with Epstein and the point of their last contact.
• 9:12
Speaker 1: The misinformation let the Barclays writing to the Financial Conduct
• 9:16
Speaker 1: the forty to deny that mister Staley had a close
• 9:19
Speaker 1: relationship with Epstein. In the wake of the pedophile financier
• 9:23
Speaker 1: is death in August of twenty nineteen, thousands of emails
• 9:27
Speaker 1: subsequently revealed that mister Staley had described Epstein as one
• 9:31
Speaker 1: of his deepest and most cherished friends. So look at
• 9:34
Speaker 1: his own words, right sunk by his own words, his
• 9:37
Speaker 1: own actions, his own behaviors. Nobody'll blame but himself, just
• 9:42
Speaker 1: like the rest of these scumbags. Oh, their reputations are
• 9:45
Speaker 1: in tatters. I don't care. Their reputations mean un goats
• 9:50
Speaker 1: in the grand scheme of things. You know what matters
• 9:52
Speaker 1: accountability and justice. In that same year he was appointed
• 10:00
Speaker 1: Barclay's chief executive, mister Staley made two visits to Epstein's
• 10:04
Speaker 1: properties in the US Virgin Islands. Court documents stated mister
• 10:08
Speaker 1: Staley used his own daughter as an intermediary to communicate
• 10:12
Speaker 1: with Epstein after becoming Barclay's boss. Think about how perverse
• 10:16
Speaker 1: that is. I'm gonna have my daughter contact Jeffrey Epstein,
• 10:20
Speaker 1: and for my next trick, I'm gonna send my son
• 10:22
Speaker 1: to Jeffrey Dahmer's house for dinner. Investors are preparing to
• 10:27
Speaker 1: sue Barclays on the basis that they were deceived over
• 10:30
Speaker 1: mister Staley's Epstein ties, which led them to suffering large
• 10:34
Speaker 1: losses when revelations came to light. In particular, they claim
• 10:39
Speaker 1: they have suffered losses when barclay share price fell on
• 10:42
Speaker 1: three separate occasions between twenty twenty one and twenty twenty three.
• 10:47
Speaker 1: That includes November one, twenty twenty one, when mister Staley
• 10:50
Speaker 1: resigned from Barclay's and on March ninth, twenty twenty three,
• 10:54
Speaker 1: when JP Morgan filed a complaint against him in relation
• 10:58
Speaker 1: to his alleged knowledge of Eppstein Deane's exploitation of women.
• 11:03
Speaker 1: The final so called stock drop occurred on August twelfth,
• 11:06
Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, when the fca issued mister Staley with
• 11:10
Speaker 1: his lifetime ban. Mister Staley has repeatedly denied that he
• 11:14
Speaker 1: had a close friendship with Epstein and previously unsuccessfully challenged
• 11:19
Speaker 1: the fcaa's lifetime ban. After the decision was upheld last year,
• 11:24
Speaker 1: he reiterated that he was never dishonest. Oh no, just
• 11:29
Speaker 1: a pillar of truth, you know, a real salt in
• 11:31
Speaker 1: the earth type of guy. Barclay's allegedly omitted information from reports.
• 11:39
Speaker 1: Woodsford claims at investors collective losses across those three dates
• 11:44
Speaker 1: amount to two billion pounds. Lawyers, instructed by a group
• 11:47
Speaker 1: of investors playing Barclays, breached its obligations by failing to
• 11:52
Speaker 1: disclose risks posed by mister Staley's Epstein's ties. These include
• 11:56
Speaker 1: allegations at Barclay's omitted information from his twothy nineteen and
• 12:01
Speaker 1: twenty twenty annual reports, despite claims that hired a law
• 12:04
Speaker 1: firm to review thousands of emails, which appeared to depict
• 12:08
Speaker 1: the close relationship between the two men. Oh not appeared,
• 12:12
Speaker 1: most certainly did. And I think the latest contemporaneous emails
• 12:17
Speaker 1: slammed the door home on any kind of bullshit just
• 12:20
Speaker 1: daily might triumph pump. The proposed claim echoes similar lawsuit
• 12:27
Speaker 1: filed against Barclays in the US, where the bank has
• 12:30
Speaker 1: been accused of material misrepresentations over the status in nature
• 12:34
Speaker 1: of Staley's relationship with Epstein. Legal documents filed in the
• 12:40
Speaker 1: US claim that when defendant's deception of the FCA and
• 12:43
Speaker 1: investors was revealed, the price of Barclays fell and investors
• 12:47
Speaker 1: were economically damaged. Woodford has said it'll sue Barclays if
• 12:52
Speaker 1: a settlement is not reached. Barclays was contacted for comment, Well,
• 12:57
Speaker 1: I guess we can just add this one to the pile, right,
• 13:00
Speaker 1: another lawsuit that we have to keep an eye on,
• 13:02
Speaker 1: and that's exactly what we're going to do as it
• 13:05
Speaker 1: continues to make its way through the system. As for
• 13:08
Speaker 1: this one, though, that's going to do it. All the
• 13:11
Speaker 1: information that goes with this episode can be found in
• 13:14
  Speaker 1: the description box.
