Latest / UK Business Voices / The Roof Moss Cleaners' Roof Moss Removal: The Work, Step by Step
Transcript
- The Roof Moss Cleaners removes roof moss by hand, scraping from the ridge down, and finishes every roof with a biocide treatment that carries a three-year moss-free guarantee. This is UK Business Voices. Every job follows the same nine steps. First comes a risk assessment. Then the area around the house is protected, and the access is set up. Depending on the roof, that can mean a cherry picker, an access tower or scaffolding. The team holds IPAF and PASMA training, which covers that kind of equipment. Next, the downpipes are blocked, so loose moss can't wash down into the drains. The moss is then scraped off by hand, working from the ridge down to the gutters. That includes old roofs with delicate clay tiles; they have worked on roofs dating back to the eighteen hundreds. Once the roof is clear, the loose debris is blown off, the gutters are cleared, and everything at ground level is tidied away. The last step is the biocide. The Roof Moss Cleaners calls it a biocide treatment, sometimes known as a softwash. It goes on after the clean, and it carries the three-year moss-free guarantee. A typical house takes one day. The biggest houses they have worked on have taken six or seven days. If the gutters need it, they can be cleaned at the same time. They're emptied by industrial vacuum and checked with a camera, with a thirty-day guarantee against blockages. Fascias and soffits can be cleaned on the same visit. In a later episode, Gareth and Anthony's customers describe the results in their own words. The Roof Moss Cleaners is a roof cleaning company based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, run by Gareth Webb and Anthony Holt, who have cleaned roofs under the name since 2013, serving Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
