- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, friends, Happy countdown to Christmas season. We originally recorded
- 0:04Speaker 1: these reviews of the Mistletoe Murders season one episodes over
- 0:08Speaker 1: the summer, and we are re airing them in honor
- 0:12Speaker 1: of their debut on the Hallmark Channel as part of
- 0:14Speaker 1: the Countdown to Christmas lineup. We will of course be
- 0:17Speaker 1: reviewing the new episodes in season two when those drop
- 0:21Speaker 1: as well. Enjoy the reviews. This is a bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:48Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:51Speaker 1: a former Hallmark hater. Today we are starting the second
- 0:54Speaker 1: semester of the Girls Gone Hallmark Summer School series, and
- 0:56Speaker 1: we are beginning our reviews of Mistletoe Murder and we
- 1:00Speaker 1: are starting with combining episodes one in two Poison and
- 1:04Speaker 1: a Paratree Parts one and two. A little more on
- 1:07Speaker 1: that in a minute. Hang out with us when the
- 1:09Speaker 1: podcast is over. The best place to find us first,
- 1:12Speaker 1: it's probably Instagram, where we are Girls Gone Homark. Hey.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We are on Facebook in Facebook groups in particular, if
- 1:20Speaker 1: you are looking to join a Hallmark friendly Facebook group
- 1:24Speaker 1: with cool people who like to talk Hallmark and they
- 1:28Speaker 1: know their stuff over there. Yeah, it's called Girls Gone
- 1:31Speaker 1: Hallmark in Facebook groups. As mentioned, just a quick schedule adjustment.
- 1:36Speaker 1: We had initially planned to review each episode of Mistletoe
- 1:40Speaker 1: Murders separately, and then upon watching them, we thought maybe
- 1:43Speaker 1: that wasn't the best idea because we realized I didn't
- 1:47Speaker 1: know this ahead of time, that each mystery spans two episodes. Yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I didn't know either, and we thought we would just
- 1:53Speaker 1: combine them and do them kind of like a movie.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So minor schedule adjustment. Yeah, this will only run for
- 2:01Speaker 1: three weeks as opposed to six weeks. Right, so the
- 2:05Speaker 1: episodes every other week? Oh, is that what we're gonna do? Oh?
- 2:09Speaker 1: You want to do him back to back? Yeah? I
- 2:10Speaker 1: just figured we would just drop them the first three weeks,
- 2:13Speaker 1: the first three Thursdays, Oh interesting, okay, And in August
- 2:16Speaker 1: we'll just leave those Thursdays empty because you guys be
- 2:20Speaker 1: kind of scenes. August is busy. It's busy, but we're
- 2:25Speaker 1: also preparing for the onslaught of Christmas content, so we're
- 2:33Speaker 1: gonna take a little break. Great, let's start with a synopsis.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Christmas shop owner Emily Lane investigates a murder at a
- 2:43Speaker 1: tree Farm. That's all I Got. Missletow Murders was created
- 2:49Speaker 1: by Ken Cooperis, and he is credited with writing the
- 2:52Speaker 1: first two episodes of the series. He was executive producer
- 2:55Speaker 1: of the Mistletoe Murders podcast series, which the TV was
- 2:58Speaker 1: based on. He's also been a writer and a producer
- 3:01Speaker 1: on the Hallmark adjacent series Hudson and Rex Hudson and
- 3:04Speaker 1: Rex Sarah It Is Again. Grant Harvey directed the first
- 3:07Speaker 1: two episodes of Mistletoe Murders for Hallmark. Grant has also
- 3:11Speaker 1: directed fourteen episodes of The Way Home. His additional directing
- 3:16Speaker 1: projects include Heartland and Orphan Black. The One and Only.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Sarah Drew plays Emily Lane, our shop owner with a
- 3:23Speaker 1: missteria's past. Sarah has fifty three acting credits, including two
- 3:27Speaker 1: hundred four episodes of Grey's Anatomy as April Kepner. For Hallmarks,
- 3:30Speaker 1: she has appeared in Branching Out One Summer and Guiding Emily.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Peter Mooney plays Detective Sam Wilner. Peter must have big
- 3:38Speaker 1: cop energy because among his acting credits That was Really
- 3:42Speaker 1: Good Megan includes roles like Ricky Blue and Burden of Truth.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Sierra Marilyn Riley plays teenager Violet Wilner. This was her
- 3:50Speaker 1: very first acting project, and she has since appeared in
- 3:53Speaker 1: the series Motorheads. Kylie Evans play's Town busybody Brook Carmichael.
- 3:58Speaker 1: You might recognize Kylie s Stephanie from the series Good Witch.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Lara Amercay plays June Hubble murder suspect and Emily's best Ye.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Laura has had roles in Work and Moms, as well
- 4:09Speaker 1: as the Prime video series Cross David who Litt plays Ray,
- 4:13Speaker 1: the furniture sales person with a shady side hustle. David
- 4:17Speaker 1: has a deep resume. His longest running role was on
- 4:20Speaker 1: Stargate Atlantis, where he has appeared in ninety nine episodes.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Steve Lund plays Marcus Donovan. Steve was in all four
- 4:26Speaker 1: Hearts Around the Table movies and is appearing in season
- 4:28Speaker 1: three of Sullivan's Crossing. Mistletoe Murders is based on the
- 4:33Speaker 1: Audible original podcast by the same name. We are going
- 4:38Speaker 1: to take a quick break and we're gonna come right
- 4:40Speaker 1: back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what is your
- 4:51Speaker 1: first impression of Mistletoe Murders? Quid in a pear tree? Oh? Sorry,
- 4:55Speaker 1: this mystery did not come to play, and neither did
- 4:58Speaker 1: Emily Lane, who My first impression is I've heard the
- 5:01Speaker 1: term cozy mystery tossed around, and I think Hallmark nailed
- 5:05Speaker 1: it here a great can I tell you hold on
- 5:08Speaker 1: a second. I really want to make an edit. I
- 5:11Speaker 1: have to ask my seventeen year old how to exactly
- 5:13Speaker 1: do that, But I want to make an edit of
- 5:15Speaker 1: like Emily Lane to this song. Do you know what'sngbo? No,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it's I did something bad by Taylor Swift from their reputation. Oh.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think about while I'm watching this is like Emily
- 5:30Speaker 1: has this sort of like baddie energy. Yes, and I'm
- 5:36Speaker 1: loving it. I love love love. Let's talk about Sarah
- 5:41Speaker 1: Drew and the character she plays Emily's. First of all,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm all in on Sarah Drew. It was really the
- 5:50Speaker 1: movie One Summer that we recently reviewed that like was
- 5:53Speaker 1: the tipping point for me. Yeah, she's so good in
- 5:56Speaker 1: Guiding Emily Though. She is very good. She's very good
- 6:01Speaker 1: in that movie quite frankly as April Koepner. Like, she's good.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I didn't watch Grays oh know her as that character
- 6:08Speaker 1: at all. She's a good actor. I have a suggestion
- 6:13Speaker 1: for you new TikTok fanatic, Just search April Kaepner on
- 6:16Speaker 1: TikTok and you'll get some of her iconic Gray's anatomy.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I mean, she has this heartbreaker of a storyline. She's
- 6:24Speaker 1: so good. Oh I'm excited, I will, but she's so
- 6:28Speaker 1: good in this. She's so good in this. The way
- 6:33Speaker 1: she delivers dialogue is like how you and I would
- 6:36Speaker 1: talk to each other. I feel like there's she's of course,
- 6:40Speaker 1: she's like natural and warm, but she's just a little
- 6:42Speaker 1: bit sarcastic too. And the way it's delivered is like
- 6:46Speaker 1: chef's kiss. So good. Yeah, here's one thing I like
- 6:49Speaker 1: about her. Look, we are familiar with this setup, right,
- 6:52Speaker 1: We've got the cop Sam and then we've got the
- 6:56Speaker 1: amateur sleuth. But Emily Lane is not your average Ridge
- 7:00Speaker 1: Hallmark heroine. Yes year, we know she's got some sort
- 7:05Speaker 1: of mystery past. She clearly knows her stuff. I mean,
- 7:09Speaker 1: look the hidden briefcase moment with the passports, her lock
- 7:13Speaker 1: picking skills, the explosion. I love her, and I love
- 7:19Speaker 1: that her character's got a lot of depth. She's not
- 7:22Speaker 1: just like I'm a Christmas tree shop owner who happens
- 7:24Speaker 1: to be crime a Jason, and I'm going to solve
- 7:25Speaker 1: this crime because it involves my friends. She has a reason. Yes.
- 7:30Speaker 1: So my notes about Emily Lane are that I think
- 7:34Speaker 1: she's Hallmark's most intriguing lead. Like ever, oh uh huh.
- 7:40Speaker 1: When I was watching it, I was like, Okay, she's
- 7:42Speaker 1: giving me Alias energy. Yes for that, you know, like,
- 7:46Speaker 1: of course she's not a spy. I don't think she's
- 7:48Speaker 1: a spy, but like the lead character in Alias was
- 7:52Speaker 1: a spy, and like it's that sort of kind of
- 7:54Speaker 1: like I mean that briefcase with the multiple passports is
- 7:57Speaker 1: giving spy something. And what I also find super intriguing
- 8:02Speaker 1: is is she hiding in plain sight here? I'm a
- 8:05Speaker 1: Christmas shop owner? Yeah, Like, what's the backstory here? I
- 8:10Speaker 1: love it. I love it so much. I have in
- 8:13Speaker 1: my notes that she's not just like a nosy amateur
- 8:18Speaker 1: sleuth here, like she brings a skill that we're not
- 8:21Speaker 1: fully aware of yet. It's more Amy Winslow than Hannah Swinson. Yes,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and I love that. This is a good thing. Question
- 8:33Speaker 1: are you more anxious for the reveal of Emily's backstory
- 8:38Speaker 1: or were you more anxious for the Emily and the
- 8:41Speaker 1: Amy and Travis Kiss. I'm more anxious to learn about
- 8:48Speaker 1: Emily Lane's backstory because and this is no shade to
- 8:54Speaker 1: mystery one on one, I it was a series I
- 8:56Speaker 1: really enjoyed, But with that said, it was very Hallmark.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Mistletoe Murders to me, feels elevated to a level of
- 9:07Speaker 1: in quality terms similar to The Way Home. Production wise,
- 9:11Speaker 1: director wise, like that kind of level. And also I
- 9:16Speaker 1: think that because it's based off of a successful podcast,
- 9:22Speaker 1: the storytelling was already there. The storytelling is already there.
- 9:25Speaker 1: But I also I don't feel like they're trying to
- 9:28Speaker 1: dumb anything down from the audience. And sometimes I feel
- 9:32Speaker 1: like Hallmark might be a little watered down in terms,
- 9:37Speaker 1: especially with the mystery stuff. This felt different level to me.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I think one thing they do nicely is balancing the
- 9:45Speaker 1: tone in this movie, Like there is some sinister stuff, gambling,
- 9:49Speaker 1: dead's blackmail, shade business deals, and yet they balance it
- 9:56Speaker 1: and they've found the piece that makes it Hallmark. And
- 9:59Speaker 1: I have not listens to the podcast, but you have
- 10:02Speaker 1: you know your hot Chocolate tastings. You have Emily runs
- 10:05Speaker 1: this shop that would go to business ten and a
- 10:07Speaker 1: half months out of the year, but still manages to
- 10:10Speaker 1: be her bread and butter somehow, and part of me
- 10:12Speaker 1: is knowing a little bit about her backstory, and like,
- 10:15Speaker 1: it is it a front? Is it a sham? I
- 10:18Speaker 1: don't think it is. I think, you know, Hallmark is
- 10:21Speaker 1: the only place where this could work. But I think
- 10:24Speaker 1: they are balancing the mistletoe and the murder piece of
- 10:27Speaker 1: it nicely. I agree. And while watching this, you know,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm not a huge fan of Christmas, and I know
- 10:36Speaker 1: it's called mistletoe murders, it feels to me like it's
- 10:41Speaker 1: just operating like during the holiday season. It's not like
- 10:45Speaker 1: a part of this not bashing you over the head
- 10:47Speaker 1: with it. Yes, I it could stand alone, even if
- 10:52Speaker 1: it removed the holiday element from it. I agree. I
- 10:57Speaker 1: imagine it's not going to I imagine season two is
- 10:59Speaker 1: going to pick up during the holiday season. Sure as well.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I really enjoyed the story where we have all these
- 11:09Speaker 1: clues the baseball, Like all these clues start to reveal themselves, right,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and they're almost they're coming to Emily. I know she's
- 11:18Speaker 1: out in pursuit of information, but it's like these clues
- 11:22Speaker 1: are falling into her lap a little bit, like when
- 11:24Speaker 1: she's at the bank, and she sees the baseball and
- 11:26Speaker 1: then she puts the name the player names, the fake
- 11:29Speaker 1: name together, and when Lizzie comes in and Lizzie's looking
- 11:33Speaker 1: for a specific cookie, and she's starting to put like
- 11:35Speaker 1: the pieces together of Oh, Lizzie must have been with
- 11:38Speaker 1: Marcus that night, et cetera, et cetera. It's like enough
- 11:42Speaker 1: to keep me like interested, but I'm not like trying
- 11:47Speaker 1: to piece it together and put it together myself. I
- 11:49Speaker 1: think a huge piece of that is the voiceovers, because
- 11:52Speaker 1: we don't have to guess what she's thinking. She's like, Oh,
- 11:54Speaker 1: that means x Y and Z. I think one of
- 11:57Speaker 1: our complaints about mysteries is they give us so much
- 11:59Speaker 1: information that's sometimes it is hard to follow. And because
- 12:03Speaker 1: she is piecing it together in her head and we
- 12:05Speaker 1: hear that inner monologue, it helps us keep up with
- 12:09Speaker 1: what's going on. Yeah, so you don't need the big
- 12:11Speaker 1: explanation at the end of the episode. Yeah, yeah, I
- 12:15Speaker 1: want to talk about Violet, the daughter Violet. Yeah, scene
- 12:18Speaker 1: stiller for me. I loved her. She makes She has
- 12:23Speaker 1: this line when her dad comes into the Christmas shop
- 12:26Speaker 1: and they're talking about perhaps maybe a killer on the
- 12:30Speaker 1: loose and she says, do I look like Final Girl
- 12:32Speaker 1: material to you? I just was like, I love the writing,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I love this actor. I can't believe this is like
- 12:38Speaker 1: her first project. I thought she was really good. She
- 12:41Speaker 1: vibes nicely with the guy that plays her dad, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: she's a not She doesn't feel the role of best
- 12:49Speaker 1: friend and like, obviously Emily has like the best friend
- 12:53Speaker 1: who gets in trouble in this episode, she doesn't get
- 12:55Speaker 1: in trouble, but is suspected in this episode, but she's
- 12:59Speaker 1: you know, the the sounding board at work, yep, and
- 13:04Speaker 1: it just works. Yeah, she uses the line resting cop
- 13:06Speaker 1: face great, it's great. I love it. Speaking of supporting character.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Is a big fan of Detective Sam. I like his
- 13:15Speaker 1: dry wit, but it's also balanced by the fact that
- 13:17Speaker 1: he's really warm with his daughter and very actively participating
- 13:21Speaker 1: and trying to make it so that like their life
- 13:24Speaker 1: has changed, but her life doesn't have to, and then
- 13:27Speaker 1: takes the chance to listen to her when she's like, look,
- 13:30Speaker 1: we can adapt, we don't need our life doesn't need
- 13:33Speaker 1: to be a carbon copy of what it was before,
- 13:35Speaker 1: and he hears her and adapts to what she needs,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and obviously you see him kind of warming to Emily
- 13:44Speaker 1: and the skills that she brings. Like he's mildly annoyed
- 13:47Speaker 1: that she's running her own investigation, as he should be,
- 13:50Speaker 1: quite frankly, but acknowledges, you know, the help that she's
- 13:56Speaker 1: offering kind of softens towards her. Obviously we see where
- 13:59Speaker 1: this is headed. I'm really enjoying Detective Sam. I agree
- 14:03Speaker 1: with you, he's attractive. I don't love the trope of
- 14:12Speaker 1: I'm annoyed at this amateur, amateur sleuthe story. And maybe
- 14:17Speaker 1: it's just because we've watched a lot of mysteries. Yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but she also stops in and she's like, give me
- 14:23Speaker 1: this information. He's like, get the heck. Yeah, no, I agree.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I love when he clocks her and he's like, not
- 14:30Speaker 1: all investigations are an Agatha Agatha Christie you know story
- 14:33Speaker 1: or whatever. Yeah, except bro, you're living in one. Yeah,
- 14:37Speaker 1: exactly exactly. My final like is and we talked about
- 14:42Speaker 1: at the top this two episode arc. Very smart move, yes,
- 14:48Speaker 1: so smart. I love it, and it ties in with
- 14:52Speaker 1: my final link. The final scene we get that kind
- 14:54Speaker 1: of wraps up all of these storyline. It's told without dialogue.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Lizzie's telling Trent the true truth. We see Gordon waking
- 15:01Speaker 1: up in the hospital, Sam and Violet doing their career.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Like we're wrapping up all these storylines. Emily and June
- 15:06Speaker 1: are at the bar. Emily exchanged gifts with Ray. Uh,
- 15:11Speaker 1: you know it gives us like closure, but then opens
- 15:14Speaker 1: the door to the next thing. Yeah, I'm curious to
- 15:17Speaker 1: see because I have not watched episode three yet. Do
- 15:20Speaker 1: we get new characters introduced at all? We would have
- 15:26Speaker 1: to because I can't imagine the cat to the DP.
- 15:28Speaker 1: This pool of people are not gonna have another murder. Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I would hope not. So. Yeah, I imagine we'll still
- 15:35Speaker 1: see June. Right. Our best friend Tom Kavanaugh joins the
- 15:41Speaker 1: cast in season two. I think, oh in season two?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Is that what it is?
- 15:45Speaker 1: I think? So okay? Interesting? That feels like heavyweight. Yeah,
- 15:49Speaker 1: who has a lot of experience. We didn't talk about it,
- 15:53Speaker 1: but the character of Ray and I put this on
- 15:57Speaker 1: our Instagram stories. Yeah, or a few of you who
- 16:01Speaker 1: knew what I was referencing. But is he not Jonesy
- 16:04Speaker 1: from Beverly Hills Niners. As soon as you said it.
- 16:07Speaker 1: As soon as you said it, I was like, shady side, hushole,
- 16:11Speaker 1: good guy. Maybe doing some not so good things. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I loved it. I loved it too. I loved it.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I really like him. Let's talk wishes, Let's talk wishes.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I know very few. Yeah, me too. My first one
- 16:30Speaker 1: is it's kind of a yes I do, but no,
- 16:34Speaker 1: I don't. I want more information about Emily's backstory, But
- 16:39Speaker 1: then again I don't. I'm like, give it to me
- 16:41Speaker 1: just in breadcrumbs. It makes it more enjoyable that way.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean that final scene in the first
- 16:48Speaker 1: episode where they show the flashback to her all in
- 16:51Speaker 1: black and the explosion behind her, Like, that's great, that's
- 16:54Speaker 1: super interesting. It was the end of the episode two
- 16:57Speaker 1: when she like pulls out that Yeah, the gift from Jonesy,
- 17:01Speaker 1: it's right, gun, right, I know, that's what it's My
- 17:04Speaker 1: wishes too, Like what is it? Is it a gun?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Is it a burner phone?
- 17:08Speaker 2: I don't know? Yeah, what is it?
- 17:10Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm dina no, but I feel like
- 17:12Speaker 1: a gun's too obvious and what could it be? I
- 17:16Speaker 1: don't know. But yeah, I'm really enjoying her backstory. I'm
- 17:20Speaker 1: enjoying the slow reveal. Another thing I want more of.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I want more Brooke and more Sue. I'll be shocked
- 17:29Speaker 1: if we don't find Brooke Carmichael at the center of
- 17:31Speaker 1: one of these mysteries this season. She plays the perfect
- 17:35Speaker 1: little town busy body. We didn't really get enough of her,
- 17:38Speaker 1: in my opinion, in these first two episodes, but they
- 17:40Speaker 1: do set her up nicely to be kind of getting
- 17:43Speaker 1: in the middle of something sticky coming up. I thought
- 17:46Speaker 1: so too. So I also like Sue, you know, the
- 17:51Speaker 1: diner owner. I think she could be involved in a
- 17:54Speaker 1: bigger way as well. I like her. She's real funny,
- 17:57Speaker 1: she's real dry. So here's the thing that we see
- 17:59Speaker 1: in a lot of mysteries, and that is that the
- 18:01Speaker 1: murder is someone who often we don't know a lot about.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Not always the case, but sometimes they'll introduce this character
- 18:10Speaker 1: and then we won't see them or they'll be like
- 18:12Speaker 1: really peripheral and so we don't suspect them. And they
- 18:16Speaker 1: did that in this case, and it's Rowan, And I
- 18:19Speaker 1: felt sometimes I find like it's maybe maybe too easy,
- 18:25Speaker 1: like it felt a little bit like he came out
- 18:28Speaker 1: of nowhere, Like I did feel like he was suspicious
- 18:29Speaker 1: from the moment. Yeah, he shines her in the woods. Yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: but we don't get enough about him until we, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: discover that he's sleeping in the loft and all of that.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So you just just came out of nowhere. Do you
- 18:41Speaker 1: wish it was somebody more obvious, maybe somebody who is
- 18:45Speaker 1: like a bigger player in the maybe in the story. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I hear you, I hear you. That's it. Well, let's talk.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Did you see that moment I have to okay and
- 18:58Speaker 1: they're not to Did you see that? They were just
- 19:01Speaker 1: stand out moments? Yeah. Same. The first one is when
- 19:08Speaker 1: Emily is pressing Anna the daughter about your dad is
- 19:15Speaker 1: tech challenge. He wouldn't know how to send an anonymous
- 19:18Speaker 1: And it's a really it's an acting choice that Sarah
- 19:24Speaker 1: Drew makes like she's asking her a question, and then
- 19:28Speaker 1: she goes like this with her eyes like and you
- 19:31Speaker 1: guys obviously were on a like an audio podcast that
- 19:34Speaker 1: I just did. But her, I said, go ahead answer me.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You don't have any answer. I just thought it was
- 19:40Speaker 1: a really good, good scene. What do you have to
- 19:42Speaker 1: say to that? Yeah, it was just so good. She
- 19:45Speaker 1: just like it's almost like when you like make oh
- 19:48Speaker 1: my daughter are so long, when you like make a
- 19:50Speaker 1: person flinch, like yeah, you know what I mean, It
- 19:53Speaker 1: just it was really good. It was really good. The
- 19:57Speaker 1: other scene has to do also with Emily, and it's
- 20:01Speaker 1: when she's confronted with Rowan up in the barn rafters
- 20:05Speaker 1: and Rowan says, you shouldn't have come up here, and
- 20:09Speaker 1: she Emily looks possessed to me in this moment and
- 20:13Speaker 1: she's like, he says you shouldn't be here, and she says,
- 20:17Speaker 1: I should say the same thing to you, and she
- 20:19Speaker 1: like goes for him, and then that's when she crashes
- 20:21Speaker 1: through the rafters. I was like, what is happening? I
- 20:25Speaker 1: need to know the backstory of this battie. Yeah, that's great,
- 20:29Speaker 1: because what's funny is that scene. To me, The remarkable
- 20:31Speaker 1: thing to me was the fall was so good. It
- 20:34Speaker 1: was so well executed, the way she hits the ground
- 20:37Speaker 1: and comes out of that. But you're right, it's like
- 20:40Speaker 1: we're starting to get a hint of who she is
- 20:41Speaker 1: and what she's capable of, but she's interrupted by the
- 20:44Speaker 1: floor giving away. That's great. Yeah, you know, like you
- 20:49Speaker 1: there's not a lot of real dig you see that
- 20:50Speaker 1: moments for me. But I would like to say one
- 20:52Speaker 1: thing I noticed I found the inside of Ray's office
- 20:55Speaker 1: to be very incongruous with the outside. Like his office
- 20:58Speaker 1: is very nice, it's well a point, it's clean, everything's organized.
- 21:01Speaker 1: The front of his building is like dilapidated and falling down.
- 21:05Speaker 1: You know, this discount furniture is kind of like a
- 21:08Speaker 1: front for whatever other shady dealings he's got going on.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I just found the two to be an interesting contrast
- 21:14Speaker 1: to each other. Interesting. Is he running guns through his business?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Is that what's happening? Guns and passports? And I don't know.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't know because to me, I'm like he's kind
- 21:24Speaker 1: of like the bad guy with a heart of gold.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Like when he talks to Emily and he's like, how
- 21:29Speaker 1: did you know what I was into? And she says
- 21:30Speaker 1: game recognizes game, and he goes, I don't know what
- 21:34Speaker 1: that means, but I'll take it. Like he just he
- 21:36Speaker 1: doesn't give me like sinister, you need to be afraid
- 21:39Speaker 1: of me, bad guy vibes. I'm afraid of Emily. Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 1: That's who I'm afraid of. Yeah, I'm like, please don't
- 21:46Speaker 1: be like a terrible bad person that I can't you
- 21:49Speaker 1: know that show you were oh uh huh. Joe Goldberg
- 21:53Speaker 1: is a murderer, but you're like, I'm enamored with Joe
- 21:56Speaker 1: the murderer because he's so charming. Yes, I'm like, is
- 21:59Speaker 1: that what's going to happen with Emily here? Are? Is
- 22:01Speaker 1: she going to be like a Robin Hood situation? I
- 22:06Speaker 1: don't know. Hey, what did you rate this first two episodes?
- 22:10Speaker 1: I gave it four point seven five stars.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I gave it.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Five stars, acknowledging that my patients for Emily's backstory and
- 22:18Speaker 1: the Emily and Sam Slowburn might run out, but evaluating
- 22:23Speaker 1: these two in a vacuum, thought it was great, so good.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I haven't told my husband. I was like, numerous times,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I go, this is really good. This is really really good.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Uh huh, he won't watch it. No, my husband wasn't
- 22:38Speaker 1: interested in watching it either, but I was like, I
- 22:39Speaker 1: think you'd like it. Hey, thank you for listening to
