- 0:39Speaker 1: series that we're discussing on PBS. What your thoughts are
- 0:44Speaker 1: on our discussion from yesterday If you heard that about
- 0:46Speaker 1: potentially expanding into a full blown PBS podcast, I don't know.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Time is not our friend. No, time is not our friend,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and especially like it's April fifteenth today as we record this,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and before we know it, it will be October and then
- 1:05Speaker 1: we'll be in the thick of Hallmark again. And I
- 1:08Speaker 1: just are we gonna do all that right? And we
- 1:12Speaker 1: got plans for summer? You know, guys, stay tuned. We'll

- 1:23Speaker 1: is where we'll drop the info. First. Yeah, we're girls
- 1:27Speaker 1: got on Hallmark over there? Can I just ask you?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Are you enjoying this? Series. Yes, do you love it?
- 1:34Speaker 1: I do. I like it a lot. I love the
- 1:37Speaker 1: kind of Monte Cristo. I'm enjoying the four sites. What
- 1:40Speaker 1: about you? Well, let me ask you this because you
- 1:43Speaker 1: are a huge down Abbey fan. Oh I like down
- 1:46Speaker 1: to nab better. Okay, interesting, But I also have a
- 1:51Speaker 1: long history with Downtown Abbey. So maybe by season three
- 1:54Speaker 1: year you'll be like I love the foresight. Perhaps like
- 1:58Speaker 1: I hear that opening music for downob and like joy
- 2:01Speaker 1: swells in my mind. Oh, look at that. I waited
- 2:05Speaker 1: to watch the final movie I don't know why, and
- 2:06Speaker 1: I watched it recent a couple months ago when I
- 2:09Speaker 1: was sick and that music played and I was like, Oh,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I'm home, my friends are here. That's so cute. That's
- 2:16Speaker 1: so cute. I wonder also, what's the demographic of people
- 2:21Speaker 1: who watch PBS masterpiece? I mean, I think you're looking
- 2:24Speaker 1: at a baby. The demographic was like googling progressives and
- 2:30Speaker 1: who had to add make eye doctor women to my
- 2:32Speaker 1: to do list as we're sitting here, you know, but
- 2:35Speaker 1: also me who really enjoys the content on PBS but
- 2:40Speaker 1: then also loves the dumpster fire of Bravos. So multitudes, right,
- 2:45Speaker 1: right right, And you know the foresights could be like
- 2:49Speaker 1: a soapy it could it is? I know it could
- 2:53Speaker 1: be so beer, and I would still inter me it
- 2:56Speaker 1: could be yeah, it could be HBO Max. Yeah, definitely, definitely.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Are you ready for a synopsis for episode four, let's
- 3:07Speaker 1: hear it. Joe tells Francis and June he's ended things
- 3:11Speaker 1: with Luisa. Francis continues matchmaking, June with Horatio in Paris.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Solmes feels out of place among Irene's social circle. This
- 3:22Speaker 1: series was written and created for television by Debbie Horsefield.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Debbie is a writer and producer known for her previous
- 3:28Speaker 1: work on Poldark, a series that has been often recommended
- 3:32Speaker 1: to Wendy and I. Yeah, I don't know anything about
- 3:34Speaker 1: that series. I don't literally nothing poll dark that those words.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It sounds like a mystery to me. Really, it sounds
- 3:42Speaker 1: wartimey to me. Oh, let's google it. What is it?
- 3:47Speaker 1: I have? People are listening, going, dummies, Oh, you're right.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Poldark is a British period drama following Ross Poldark, who
- 3:55Speaker 1: returns to Cornwall from the American Revolutionary War in seven
- 4:00Speaker 1: eighty three to find his father dead. His estate in
- 4:03Speaker 1: ruins and tell me if you've heard this one before.
- 4:06Speaker 1: His sweetheart engaged to his cousin, Hello the Count of
- 4:10Speaker 1: Monte Cristo. He rebuilds his life, fights for his community,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and finds love with a servant girl named Damelza. It's
- 4:17Speaker 1: lacking revenge. It's the only thing. I mean. I think
- 4:23Speaker 1: I might need to watch this series. I think there
- 4:27Speaker 1: were four season It's a lot of the same players.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I would not say that we're going to see a
- 4:33Speaker 1: Poldarc review series coming to Girls Gone Hamewark or down
- 4:38Speaker 1: to in Girls anytime soon, but I might watch it
- 4:41Speaker 1: for myself. That's another thing. Though. I'm feeling very overwhelmed
- 4:44Speaker 1: this week, and when I feel like this, I just
- 4:47Speaker 1: want to go away for a week. I just want
- 4:49Speaker 1: to Actually, I don't want to go away. I want
- 4:50Speaker 1: everybody else to go away. I want to be home
- 4:52Speaker 1: alone in my house. Take the dogs with you, please,
- 4:55Speaker 1: And I want to watch whatever I want to watch.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I don't want to prepare a meal for anybody. I
- 4:59Speaker 1: just want to eat girls dinner. Uh huh, be on
- 5:02Speaker 1: my own schedule for an entire week. You can come over,
- 5:05Speaker 1: nobody else six leave me alone. Let me watch what
- 5:08Speaker 1: I want, read what I want, eat what I want,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and just catch you up on life. Don't you feel
- 5:13Speaker 1: like a full week to yourself without a responsibility to
- 5:16Speaker 1: anyone else would be delightful?
- 5:19Speaker 2: It would be absolutely And I love all the people
- 5:21Speaker 2: in my life.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Speaking of girl Dinner, I just saw a TikTok where
- 5:25Speaker 1: girl Dinner. The guy took crinkle cut French fries and
- 5:29Speaker 1: cut them up into smaller pieces and then air freight
- 5:31Speaker 1: them crispy and put them on top of a Caesar
- 5:34Speaker 1: solid delightful. Right. Do you have an airfier? Of course
- 5:39Speaker 1: we don't. I used it last night. We don't. And
- 5:42Speaker 1: I see so many people just say, toss it in
- 5:43Speaker 1: the airfire, toss it in the airfire. And we don't
- 5:45Speaker 1: own one. And I keep thinking, you have a Yeah,
- 5:49Speaker 1: that works the same way, you old cheap piece of
- 5:51Speaker 1: crap toaster, get it, giddy airfryer. I got one in
- 5:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty. I'm still rocking the same one. Is it
- 5:58Speaker 1: like that or is it like a rocketer shape? It
- 6:01Speaker 1: looks like the ray out that thing that just landed. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 1: our artemis, that's what I would a got it. I
- 6:09Speaker 1: like the idea of an air fryer, reheat your pizza
- 6:12Speaker 1: and the Yeah, we're real into these Trader Joe's pizzas
- 6:16Speaker 1: right now too. Oh you guys hate If you're on
- 6:20Speaker 1: a Patreon listener, I don't know if we've talked about
- 6:23Speaker 1: that on Patreon. Put it on What's Good next week.
- 6:25Speaker 1: This is the content you're going to get on a Patreon. Yes,
- 6:30Speaker 1: send me your air fryer recommendations to what I could
- 6:34Speaker 1: make in my air fryer. Knowing that I'm I like
- 6:38Speaker 1: a real simple process. I was gonna call myself lazy,
- 6:40Speaker 1: but I don't think that's fair. I don't think I'm lazy.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I just think I have limited time and my willingness
- 6:45Speaker 1: to commit, my willingness to commit a lot of time
- 6:48Speaker 1: to food preparation is low. So send me your easy
- 6:53Speaker 1: air fryer recipes to Hello at Girls, Come homework dot com.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I love it. Should we get back to news and
- 6:58Speaker 1: notes on the for Sights episode? Yeah? Is there more?
- 7:01Speaker 1: There's just a few more and not allowed for a
- 7:04Speaker 1: director this episode, and she will go on to direct
- 7:06Speaker 1: episodes five and six. Her previous directorial work is pretty limited.
- 7:10Speaker 1: All of the main cast returns with the addition of
- 7:13Speaker 1: Josette Simon as Ellen Parker Barrington, Barrington coming in to
- 7:18Speaker 1: shake things up. I have so many questions. Hey, let's
- 7:22Speaker 1: talk first impressions. Solmes is absolutely a sharrier location kind
- 7:28Speaker 1: of guy. Red flags, red flags all around. My first
- 7:34Speaker 1: impression is, Oh, looks like Solmes is a bad boy
- 7:37Speaker 1: in a completely different way than we had expected. I'm
- 7:41Speaker 1: a little disappointed. Oh, because I love a bad boy,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but he's getting into like scary territory. Huh. Yeah. What
- 7:51Speaker 1: did you like about this episode of the Foresights. I
- 7:55Speaker 1: am all in on this episode, like things are getting juicy,
- 7:59Speaker 1: real juicy juicy. I love that we have our opening
- 8:03Speaker 1: voice over or we get the theme of the whole
- 8:07Speaker 1: episode in choosing your heart or choosing security money basically,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and it runs through everything in this episode. Yeah, but
- 8:16Speaker 1: I have a question. Remember when we reviewed Ripple and
- 8:18Speaker 1: we would hear the voiceover at the beginning and they
- 8:20Speaker 1: would say something, and then we would hear that later
- 8:23Speaker 1: in the episode. Did you notice that that happened here?
- 8:25Speaker 1: I didn't at the beginning of the episode, and it's musing,
- 8:30Speaker 1: who is our call of duty? Too? And later in
- 8:33Speaker 1: the episode, Solmes is like, is my duty to business
- 8:36Speaker 1: or is my duty to myself? Interesting? Yeah, I didn't
- 8:41Speaker 1: pick that up. I don't know if that same echo
- 8:45Speaker 1: has happened in previous episodes. But I do love Ann's
- 8:49Speaker 1: voiceovers at the beginning that set the tone on every episode. Yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 1: I don't think I'm really like clocked in on it before.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And I was watching this and I had listen to it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Actually I read it on the screen because that's how
- 9:04Speaker 1: I roll in my house. And then as I'm watching it,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I was like, oh, it's all tied together. Hey, dummy again.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I love that we we get to see what that
- 9:14Speaker 1: means to each character. In this episode, we have June
- 9:18Speaker 1: choosing Philip. Didn't see that coming like that, really, no,
- 9:23Speaker 1: I saw it coming back. I didn't see her being
- 9:25Speaker 1: that defiant taking that. The speed of these engagements like
- 9:31Speaker 1: was that we'll you're it well June. June's hand was
- 9:36Speaker 1: forced because she knew that they were going to the
- 9:38Speaker 1: Carter It's home and that Horatio was going to propose, right,
- 9:41Speaker 1: so she knew it was now or never. I kind
- 9:45Speaker 1: of loved it actually, and I liked that Joe doesn't
- 9:49Speaker 1: totally shut it down because I think Joe's like I
- 9:53Speaker 1: see you, June. I wish I would have moved like
- 9:56Speaker 1: you did at some point with Louisa. Joe's so interesting
- 10:00Speaker 1: to me in this episode. Why Well, at the beginning
- 10:04Speaker 1: we see him, he's like, they make a comment about
- 10:06Speaker 1: the children being provided for, and then he's like, I've
- 10:09Speaker 1: cut ties with Lisa, kind of trying to shut Frances
- 10:12Speaker 1: down because Francis is like, you know, you need to
- 10:14Speaker 1: commit to this family. He's like, already we're done. I've
- 10:17Speaker 1: done what you asked me to do. Leave me alone.
- 10:19Speaker 1: He doesn't say it like that, but that's off Frances
- 10:22Speaker 1: too nice. But then he does a few things. He's
- 10:26Speaker 1: sitting in his office and he looks around at the
- 10:29Speaker 1: paintings on the wall and there's one that's very clearly Louisa. Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And then we see him just looking back and forth
- 10:36Speaker 1: between two paintings and he gets up and takes them
- 10:38Speaker 1: off the wall and turns them around. But not only that,
- 10:41Speaker 1: he goes around his office. There's got to be at
- 10:43Speaker 1: least ten paintings of Venice that he takes down. I mean,
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's just over and over and over again, and it
- 10:49Speaker 1: just feels like the influence that this has had on
- 10:51Speaker 1: his life. Where we're reminded how big it was, right,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and so I think you're right. He is like, well,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I missed my chance to be in a relationship for love.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I came back out of family duty. Yeah, and now
- 11:07Speaker 1: look where I am. I have a question later, but
- 11:10Speaker 1: i'll ask you now. Joe meets with Philip and he
- 11:16Speaker 1: basically says like, I don't agree to you two getting married,
- 11:19Speaker 1: but i'll agree to an engagement you can prove to
- 11:22Speaker 1: me that you can provide for her. He comes back
- 11:24Speaker 1: and says to Francis like, look, I'm just buying us time,
- 11:26Speaker 1: Like balloon's going to come off the rose. She'll see
- 11:28Speaker 1: through this eventually, right. Do you believe that that is
- 11:32Speaker 1: his motivation. I think he's trying to put Francis like,
- 11:37Speaker 1: tell her to back off a little bit. Sure, and
- 11:40Speaker 1: maybe he's giving time to June to figure things out.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I don't know. Like I felt like it was a
- 11:46Speaker 1: fair I felt I did too. It was a fair choice.
- 11:50Speaker 1: He opposition was fair. I agree with you. It is early.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Philip can't provide for her, so he's giving him time. Yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I just feel like buys little time on everybody's sad. Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I think he made the right decision. What I'm wondering
- 12:05Speaker 1: is the way he spun it to Francis was like,
- 12:08Speaker 1: I'm on your side, like this is a terrible choice.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Let them figure it out on his own. Whereas to me,
- 12:14Speaker 1: I think he's feeling like one very protective of June.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He calls her his daughter, like June is his daughter
- 12:23Speaker 1: in his mind, and he does want her to be
- 12:26Speaker 1: with someone who can provide for her. But I also think,
- 12:29Speaker 1: on the other hand, if she if that can be
- 12:31Speaker 1: someone who loves her, then maybe she doesn't need to
- 12:34Speaker 1: choose the connection that's best for the family. Like I
- 12:39Speaker 1: think he's feeding Francis what she wants to I think
- 12:43Speaker 1: so too. I think so too. I just want to
- 12:47Speaker 1: rewind just a tad bit. I know we don't do
- 12:51Speaker 1: digitee that's in this when we're reviewing this series. But
- 12:55Speaker 1: I did notice something when he's taking the paintings off
- 12:58Speaker 1: the wall. Did you notice like the yes, the way
- 13:00Speaker 1: they're hung No, the marks that the pteen like if
- 13:04Speaker 1: they've been on the wall for a century, you move
- 13:06Speaker 1: it and there's like a square of the picture. I
- 13:08Speaker 1: was like, every single painting in here, it's only been
- 13:12Speaker 1: like I guess it's been like eighteen years, but that's
- 13:17Speaker 1: all that's I just noticed. I was like, why would
- 13:18Speaker 1: they be so I noticed the way they were hung.
- 13:21Speaker 1: There's like chains hanging from the ceiling with like little
- 13:23Speaker 1: grammets on the end that the hooks go through as
- 13:26Speaker 1: opposed to being in the wall because whatever the walls
- 13:28Speaker 1: are made of it. I don't know Semester the ballet
- 13:32Speaker 1: fever dream that we have with Somemes, like I got
- 13:35Speaker 1: to talk about Somemes and my wishes. But I did
- 13:37Speaker 1: think that that was kind of masterfully produced, a great
- 13:40Speaker 1: where it transitions from he's watching this ballet and then
- 13:44Speaker 1: he starts to have these these fears and he realizes
- 13:48Speaker 1: what it's going to mean for his wife to be
- 13:49Speaker 1: one of these dancers, and it gets hot and heavy
- 13:52Speaker 1: and the lighting changes to red and it's just all
- 13:54Speaker 1: hands and body parts and his reaction and then coming
- 13:58Speaker 1: back into himself. I thought that was very well done
- 14:02Speaker 1: on screen. Agree. I think there's a really nice contrast
- 14:07Speaker 1: between Paris and London here, particularly Irene's Paris, because Irene's
- 14:13Speaker 1: Paris is loud and messy and fun and London is
- 14:18Speaker 1: like very like stiff backed. Well dressed organized, quiet, proper,
- 14:26Speaker 1: and I, you know, obviously they do that to show
- 14:31Speaker 1: how much some sticks out in that environment. But I
- 14:34Speaker 1: also think it does a nice contrast between like the
- 14:38Speaker 1: expectation of the foresights and some of the wildness that
- 14:43Speaker 1: June and Joe and Irene are looking for along the
- 14:46Speaker 1: lines of that Paris storyline. I thought it was really
- 14:49Speaker 1: nice how it highlighted who Irene was because at this point,
- 14:54Speaker 1: like I didn't really know what Irene was doing. And obviously,
- 15:01Speaker 1: back to Anne's voiceover, Irene is not there out of love.
- 15:07Speaker 1: She's there for opportunity, money, et cetera. Like and we
- 15:11Speaker 1: really see that when we when she gets into Paris
- 15:13Speaker 1: and she's partying with all these people and wants to
- 15:16Speaker 1: have this like big social life, which is not the
- 15:20Speaker 1: social life of these Londoners. Right, there was this moment
- 15:24Speaker 1: where they were like doing shots of like absence and
- 15:27Speaker 1: all this stuff, and then Solmes orders champagne and Irene
- 15:31Speaker 1: looks at him, and I was like, Okay, what's the
- 15:33Speaker 1: deal there? Is is champagne like this elevated beverage compared
- 15:38Speaker 1: to like what they were doing, and I didn't. I
- 15:41Speaker 1: didn't ordering a bottle of wine while they're doing tequila shots. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I was like, what's happening and what is happening? But
- 15:48Speaker 1: then then we later get the ballet moment and I
- 15:52Speaker 1: was like, Okay, this is all coming into perspective. Now
- 15:55Speaker 1: I get like Solmes is not vibing with this life
- 16:01Speaker 1: and it is feeling very possessive over Irene, especially when
- 16:04Speaker 1: she's like I got up and saw the sun and
- 16:06Speaker 1: he's like, we do everything together. Now I'm like, yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 1: that was at first I was like, oh gosh, totally.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And then she tells that story about like how they
- 16:16Speaker 1: had a canary and like, I think it was her
- 16:19Speaker 1: mom was like a wild thing shouldn't be caged. And
- 16:21Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, this is who Irene is. And
- 16:23Speaker 1: she's telling Solmes in so many words like don't cage
- 16:28Speaker 1: me in, dude, and he wants to put her in
- 16:31Speaker 1: a box. Yeah. He says, we're married, we should want
- 16:34Speaker 1: to do everything together, and she goes everything and I
- 16:37Speaker 1: was like, oh, I feel smothered on your behalt totally totally.
- 16:41Speaker 1: The other thing that I really liked, I have to
- 16:43Speaker 1: say it, this episode was kind of sexy and like
- 16:46Speaker 1: the most wantced PBS masterpiece kind of way. We have
- 16:51Speaker 1: scenes between Solmes and Irene and the way that they're
- 16:54Speaker 1: this the scene is blocked, like they're so like intimate
- 16:58Speaker 1: and in each other's space, and there's like tension and like, yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 1: it's really selling the honeymoon for sure. And then we
- 17:05Speaker 1: have this other scene where Irene is asleep in bed
- 17:09Speaker 1: and SOM's like takes off his robe or whatever. He's shirtless. Hello,
- 17:14Speaker 1: But it's almost sinister, like the way he's like goes
- 17:17Speaker 1: to the bed and he gets into this like tiny,
- 17:19Speaker 1: little creakty European bed. You know, it was just so funny.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But that scene where he was like fiddling with her ring,
- 17:28Speaker 1: what did that mean? Was he like considering like maybe
- 17:31Speaker 1: we shouldn't be married or what? I had the same questions.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And then she wakes up and she's like what are
- 17:37Speaker 1: you doing. He's like, can't I admire my possessions? Yeah?
- 17:41Speaker 1: Or my most prized possession? And I thought, oh no,
- 17:45Speaker 1: oh no, don't like that at all. He's like, oh,
- 17:50Speaker 1: we got to go back to London, so pack up
- 17:52Speaker 1: your shit. We're out of here. And so what happens
- 17:57Speaker 1: next is she gonna feel smothered back in London. Well,
- 18:02Speaker 1: it's interesting because he was like, I'm going to set
- 18:04Speaker 1: up shop here in Paris, and then he realizes what
- 18:08Speaker 1: that life will be like and he's like, well, let's
- 18:10Speaker 1: get we got to get out of here. Mmmm. I
- 18:12Speaker 1: owe my father the courtesy of going back home. And
- 18:16Speaker 1: he knows if he goes back home, he's never going
- 18:18Speaker 1: to be able to get out of there, right, And
- 18:20Speaker 1: he's not going to try because he doesn't want Irene
- 18:24Speaker 1: in Paris. He doesn't want her dancing, he doesn't want
- 18:26Speaker 1: her around these friends. He wants her in her little cage.
- 18:31Speaker 1: So is Irene going to rebel freak the f out? I?
- 18:35Speaker 1: You know, Irene, Joe, and June. I think they're all
- 18:37Speaker 1: cut from the same cloth here. Ayeah yeah. And then
- 18:40Speaker 1: of course I continue to love Anne. Oh she's just
- 18:43Speaker 1: so like snarky but polite at the same time. I
- 18:47Speaker 1: just love her, love her. My favorite Anne line from
- 18:51Speaker 1: this episode is when June drops the bomb that she's
- 18:53Speaker 1: already engaged and they're going back and forth and for instance, says,
- 18:56Speaker 1: nobody finds us remotely amusing, like pretending like June's Joe
- 19:00Speaker 1: and angles I don't know and loving it, love it
- 19:05Speaker 1: and I like that. We got some more contexts from
- 19:07Speaker 1: Anne too about James and Joe. Oh yeah, about that
- 19:11Speaker 1: they at one time thought over the same woman. I'm
- 19:14Speaker 1: going to assume that's Joe's wife, who is now Joe
- 19:17Speaker 1: Senior's wife who's now dead. You're shaking your head. It's not,
- 19:20Speaker 1: it's not. I'll tell you how. I know that because
- 19:23Speaker 1: they say, I wonder what became of her. Oh oh.
- 19:29Speaker 1: The way I heard that conversation was that like neither
- 19:32Speaker 1: of them ended up with her. She went away and
- 19:35Speaker 1: they don't know where she is. That's so interesting because
- 19:38Speaker 1: I kind of assumed it was Joe's now dead Joe
- 19:41Speaker 1: Senior's now dead wife, and that would explain why James
- 19:46Speaker 1: is so shitty to his current wife. Sure. Yeah, he's
- 19:49Speaker 1: terrible to her the worst. She hates him. They hate
- 19:52Speaker 1: each other. But it's hard to watch. Yeah, any other
- 19:56Speaker 1: likes that about wraps it up. Let's knock wishes only
- 20:00Speaker 1: have one? Okay, I need more clarity on the Barrington slash.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Luisa's storyline. I don't know what's happening here. I was,
- 20:10Speaker 1: I agree, so confused. What does her charity do deals
- 20:14Speaker 1: with wretched women? Yeah? Puts them to work in some organization. Look,
- 20:20Speaker 1: as far as I can tell, we're talking about women
- 20:23Speaker 1: who have fallen on hard times, who have had children
- 20:25Speaker 1: out of wedlock, who are unacceptable to this polite society.
- 20:30Speaker 1: They kind of put them away, but they have in
- 20:33Speaker 1: some way raised money for them. The way I read it,
- 20:37Speaker 1: the only thing that I really understood about that is
- 20:40Speaker 1: that missus Barrington brings Louisa in as an example of
- 20:44Speaker 1: what these women can be if given the right resources.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And Louisa tells her story and the women are like, yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: but you're not like them, AND's just like, actually I am,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Actually I am. And of course Francis is freaking out,
- 20:58Speaker 1: but Luisa does her the favor of saying the man
- 21:01Speaker 1: died to sell her, how but we were never married.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Do you think that's the end of the Barrington storyline here?
- 21:10Speaker 1: Why introduce her? I don't know. I don't think that's
- 21:14Speaker 1: the end of it. Because of course we cut to
- 21:18Speaker 1: Louisa's children having scarlet fever. Isaac notifies Joe. He races
- 21:24Speaker 1: through the night to get to them. She tells him
- 21:27Speaker 1: their fever has broken, and they share that charged moment,
- 21:30Speaker 1: and before they can step towards each other he turns
- 21:32Speaker 1: and leave. Yeah, what were your thoughts on that moment?
- 21:35Speaker 1: There was she finally saying, like, I thought she was
- 21:38Speaker 1: going to step into him, like she was going to
- 21:40Speaker 1: exceed if he stepped forward. She seemed receptive. And then
- 21:44Speaker 1: why do you think he turned and went duty?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Oh?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Interesting, I was thinking, like hoping he was like, wait,
- 21:52Speaker 1: before we do that, I need to go and end
- 21:54Speaker 1: things with Francis. Oh but maybe not. Well, you know
- 21:58Speaker 1: he goes home and she's sleeping and he doesn't go
- 22:00Speaker 1: into her room. Yeah, I didn't think that way. I
- 22:05Speaker 1: thought he was just having one one moment of I mean,
- 22:08Speaker 1: Joe is a good guy. He is a good guy.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So I have some questions. I have a few questions.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Do you think June and Philip are actually in love?
- 22:19Speaker 1: Or are they in love with the idea of breaking
- 22:21Speaker 1: the rules of society and family duty or in lust? Like,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you know, he's cute, he's fun, he's interesting. Can you
- 22:29Speaker 1: be in love that quickly? I don't know. I know,
- 22:33Speaker 1: I'm telling you at the speed at things the way
- 22:35Speaker 1: things happen here like engagements and like, and she pushed
- 22:39Speaker 1: the engagement, and he much like Luisa was saying, your
- 22:42Speaker 1: family will never accept me.
- 22:43Speaker 2: It can't it cannot be mm hm. You know it
- 22:45Speaker 2: makes me.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Nervous for her that she was the one who said
- 22:48Speaker 1: let's get married and I love you and all of that. Also,
- 22:52Speaker 1: I cannot stand his raccoon hat. What is happening? I
- 22:57Speaker 1: don't know. Was that like a sign of the times
- 23:00Speaker 1: when they're like, did you see his hat? And so
- 23:02Speaker 1: thought it was a cat? I died. It's funny. There's
- 23:06Speaker 1: a little humor, you know, infused in Oh for sure.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Monty remains comic relief, like he
- 23:12Speaker 1: is the worst of the worst. He's just this total
- 23:15Speaker 1: social climber. When they get the news that Sos isn't returning,
- 23:18Speaker 1: Monty's like, well, there's a space right there for me
- 23:21Speaker 1: to just leggle my way right into. And I thought
- 23:24Speaker 1: that was actually kind of been using. I agree, I
- 23:27Speaker 1: did too. If you had to choose right now, would
- 23:29Speaker 1: you pick love with uncertainty like June or security with
- 23:33Speaker 1: strings like Irene. I don't want Irene's position at all.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I feel smothered on her behalf. Yeah, so yeah, I
- 23:41Speaker 1: would I choose me. Uh, you're funny. I need Irene
- 23:45Speaker 1: to like figure it out real quick that she's destined
- 23:51Speaker 1: for a life of like his mother, like Solm's his mother.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, you know when I saw Irene and
- 24:01Speaker 1: so I's interacting at the beginning of they're so lovey dovey,
- 24:04Speaker 1: they're so in that honeymoon phase. And then he she
- 24:10Speaker 1: seems genuinely happy. She does, but I don't totally buy it,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and then he drops the bomb and I'm like, oh God,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and you can see she kind of starts to pick up.
- 24:22Speaker 1: We get revealed after reveal after reveal in this episode,
- 24:24Speaker 1: it starts with the well, we should do everything together,
- 24:26Speaker 1: and then they go with her friends and you can
- 24:29Speaker 1: see her face clocking his reactions, and then after the ballet,
- 24:35Speaker 1: he says, we got a GTFO. Well, that's a wrap
- 24:38Speaker 1: on our discussion of the Foresights episode four. Things are
- 24:41Speaker 1: getting a juicy. I don't scary if I'm gonna be honest,
- 24:46Speaker 1: We'll be back next week with future discussion of the Foresights.
