Latest / The Embodiment Lab / The Embodied Woman: 10 Traits That Create Success
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: These are the traits that you need to embody before you become the woman with the results.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: You have to become the woman who can handle the results.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the Embodiment Lab.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: My name is Addy.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: And a couple weeks ago, I did an episode about the eight traits of a successful woman who embodies the results, the physique of a woman who has the big glutes, the lean physique, the abs, all the things.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: And I have 10 more for you today.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And these are so, so good.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: When I was coming up with these, I was thinking about me, my personal life, myself, you know, but I was also thinking of a couple of my clients who fully embody these traits.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And I think it's part of why, if not all of why, they are so incredibly successful.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Because when I look at some clients who are winning and some other clients who aren't as successful and they're having a harder, more challenging, difficult time building their dream body, I notice these behaviors between the two.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: And so we're gonna get into 10 of these traits and break down why each trait is on here.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And I was actually really excited about how fast these 10 traits just fell out of my brain.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I just like was walking on the treadmill today at the gym and I had this idea for a video, and I created a reel that's gonna go up as I'm recording this, it's gonna go up tomorrow, but tomorrow is uh Tuesday.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And when I get this episode up, it'll be a couple days, maybe like a week and a half after that reel does go up.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: But this idea came to me, you know what's funny is I forgot that I had done the podcast episode a couple weeks ago about this this topic, but the lens that these traits came to me, came into my head as I was walking, was a little bit of a different lens from when I originally recorded that episode.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: So I have some couple, some couple, English is hard.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: I have a couple different traits that I want to go over today and why these are each super important, just even beyond like the macros and the training.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Like, yes, the macros and the training are important, but if you are following a plan with the mindset as the embodied woman, you are more than more likely to get the result that you want versus acting from a identity of somebody who's like, I'm stuck, I have peaked, this is as good as my body's gonna get.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: You know, these traits align with the woman who believes she's capable of so much change.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So, starting off with number one, she does not believe in average, she wants to be exceptional and she's delusional about that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: So, this specifically, I started following, not even started, I've been following this one coach on Instagram for probably the last like two years or so.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And she actually lives in Tampa, so we're like basically neighbors, and she's a hormone coach, and there's been a couple of her videos where she like shows labs, and part of why some women are experiencing some symptoms is because they go to the doctor and their hormones, they run like blood work, they run like some tests and stuff, and their results come back normal.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And this coach actually shows that normal means that they're taking like a bunch of women that aren't necessarily meeting the right marks and taking the average of that.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And it's average, it's normal based off of like the normal woman, not what your body actually needs to be optimal.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So there's a difference between normal and optimal when it comes to your hormones, when it comes to different levels of nutrients in your body, all these things.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I hope that makes sense because that was kind of like a long-winded explanation to get here.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: But basically, normal in America, I've heard this a lot and just in the last week, but normal in America for a woman is to have an excess of body fat.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: It's not normal to be fit, it's not normal to be lean, it's not normal to see visible muscle on a woman.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And the woman who is successful, the woman who is fully embodied in just living the lifestyle, she does not want to be normal.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: She wants to be exceptional, she wants to be excellent.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: And this woman is completely delusional about what she believes she is capable of.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: So, you know, she might be stuck in a body.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: I say stuck, but she might be living in a body where she's a little bit squishier, a little bit softer, carries a little bit extra weight, a little extra body fat, under muscled, and she's been there for 10 years.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: She is so delusional that she believes that she can absolutely transform her physique, even though for the last 10 years she's lived in a body that doesn't look like that.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: She's so delusional, right?
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: We love a certain level of delusion that creates success.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And honestly, it does create, it does require a little bit of that delusion to create success.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Number two is that she is an overachiever and she never feels like she's doing enough.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And this sometimes can actually be her downfall because oftentimes this leads her to do more than what's necessary to create results.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And oftentimes that's the reason why her body is a little slower to change, and we have to rein it in a little bit to make some adjustments, make sure she's not completely burning herself out, burning her body out, and her body can actually respond to a specific protocol rather than just doing the absolute most.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: But it's the drive behind this trait that is what actually pushes her to be successful because she's not somebody to lean back, sit back, give herself an easy out, and be okay with just being mid or just doing the least amount possible.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Like she is an overachiever and she has that drive to do more.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And how she directs that energy is so incredible for creating results, right?
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: That energy being driven to like in the right places, that energy being applied in the right places is what helps her to get results.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Number three, she learns that balance is saying yes and no.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Balance, it's this buzzword that floats around the internet, and everybody wants balance.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: There's people who believe in balance, but there's also pol there's also people that don't believe in balance.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: And I feel like a lot of the times people think that they need to be perfect and that balance is for after they achieve the result.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And yes, it is to a certain extent.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I don't believe in being restrictive, 100% perfect and crazy, insane, never allowing yourself to have fun throughout your entire journey to getting to where you want your physique to be and then allowing yourself to have the donut.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: I believe in allowing yourself to go out to eat one time a week, maybe twice, and being strict about making sure that you're only going out to eat when you say you're going to.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Hopefully it does.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of people have this idea of like, oh, I can pursue my fitness journey and still have balance.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: While yes, you can, there is a point where the balance is not actually balance.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: It's just an excuse for you to say yes to everything that comes your way.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Balance is knowing when to say yes and when to say no.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: And the embodied successful woman knows when to say no so that she can stay on track and she can take care of herself so that she has the physique that matches her standards.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: So sometimes there are going to be things you're gonna have to say no to.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you're going to wake up in the morning and drive past the McDonald's and be like, ooh, that's a no.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Know when to say no, not giving in to every desire, every whim of, oh, I want this.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: This sounds fun.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: No, know exactly when you need to say no, but then also like set up boundaries of Friday nights, we're gonna have dinner out at a restaurant.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Super fun, right?
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: You know, setting specific standards like that.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: So the embodied woman knows that balance is saying yes and no, not just saying yes or just saying no.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: There's both.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: It's a balance.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Number four, she is selfish about taking care of herself.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: She takes time for herself so that she can pour into others.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: This woman knows that she would be insane, off the rails, out of her mind, going just like insane if she does not have time for herself.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: She understands that it is selfless to be selfish about taking care of herself so that she can be selfless and take care of others.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: If she is constantly running around trying to take care of everybody else before she is taken care of first, she's gonna be stressed, she's gonna be out of sorts, she's gonna be on edge, she might be quick to anger, she might be, you know what I mean?
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Like this woman is not going to be at her best because she hasn't taken care of herself first.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: It's like the analogy of, I have two analogies for this.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: One, the airplane analogy, how you have to put your mask on yourself before you can put it on your child, because you can't put a mask on your child if you are dead, right?
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Put the mask on yourself so you can take care of others.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: That and you can't pour from an empty cup.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Fill your cup first so that your cup overflows and you can take care of others.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: If that means prioritizing the gym over running around doing everything for everybody else, do it.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: If that means taking 15 minutes in the morning to have quiet time to center yourself, ground yourself, all the things, do it.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: There are certain things that the embodied successful woman does on a daily basis in order to make sure that she is well taken care of so that she can take care of other people.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Number five, her clothes in the gym, her outfits in the gym evolve over time because she wants to look cute.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: She wants to look hot.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: I think of some of my clients who I've been working with for several years, even myself too, like I have upgraded my closet from like oversized baggy t-shirts, black leggings, black shorts.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Um, I remember I would shop at Academy and get kind of like not the most flattering shorts and leggings and things to I've purchased Gymshark.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: I went through Gymshark phase and then I discovered honoractive and there was no going back.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: And now when I go to the gym, it's all about how can I put together the cutest outfit so that I feel so good and I can look at myself in the mirror and be like, yep, this is what we're building, this is what we're doing.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Because the way that you dress yourself, that affects how you carry yourself, affects how you show up for yourself, it affects everything.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: But also like when people look at you, I mean, it doesn't have anything to do with other people, but when people look at this woman, they're like, oh, she's got her shit together.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: It's like it's part of the character, it's part of the, I think of like the alter ego a little bit.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: There's a little bit of like an alter ego that you embody when you go to the gym.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: I definitely do.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: You kind of have to, especially if you are somebody who's a little bit more quiet, reserved.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: You have to like have this alter ego in order to take up space in the gym.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: So you're not constantly like, oh, I'm afraid to take up space.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: No, take up space.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: So wow, that went off on a little bit of a tangent.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: But I've watched some of my clients completely overhaul their wardrobes and they wear super cute outfits in the gym and they they start buying honor.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: I'm like a little bit of a an influencer when it comes to my clients buying honor.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: That happens all the time, and it's actually such a cool thing.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: But something that seems like so small, minor, and like not important, it it's actually so important.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it just like it affects how you carry yourself and how you show up for yourself.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: And it also kind of bleeds into number six.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: Number six is she romanticizes the shit out of her health because she loves herself.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Couple things I want to say here.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: When I think of what I love about the gym, I romanticize the crap out of it.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: I have my cute outfit, I have my energy drink, I have my podcast.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: It's like a whole experience that I give myself when I go to the gym.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And I think it's so fun.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: I think mostly because like I grew up watching YouTube and Instagram, like videos of these girls that made going to the gym look so fun and aesthetic.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: And in my head, I live that life and it makes it so fun.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: The second wavelength I wanted to go off here, when you are acting from a place of self-love, meaning that everything you do is for the betterment of yourself because you love yourself and you want to do better for yourself, you're much more likely to enjoy the process and stick with it long term rather than everything you do is coming from a place of self-hatred.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: If you hate your body and you're eating a certain way because you hate your body and you're going to the gym because you hate your body and you're getting your steps in because you hate your body, and you're doing all these things to change your body because you don't like your body, your body is going to have a very hard time changing.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: But also it's going to make it so hard and so miserable for you to show up that eventually you're not going to want to anymore because it is just this big negative thing that surrounds the entire subject, the entire journey.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: It's so negative and it's clouded in so much darkness rather than this successful woman does this because it gives her life, it adds to her life, it makes her feel good and it helps her because it is a self-love journey.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: And I love that for her.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Number seven, she never misses twice.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is so good.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: There is a lot of opportunities in life for you to miss your workout, for you to skip a meal, for you to go out to eat when you didn't plan to.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that any of these things are bad or frowned upon at all, because these things absolutely come up.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: They happen, even to me sometimes.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I'll miss a meal.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I'm I'll miss my yogurt in the afternoon, or sometimes the gym.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, it doesn't happen often at all, but sometimes like the gym needs to be skipped, sometimes.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: But the embodied woman does not let it happen twice in a row.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: If you miss your workout one day because maybe work went a little bit long, you had a long meeting, whatever.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Sure, you missed your workout, it's okay.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: She doesn't make herself feel guilty.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: She just gets up tomorrow and she goes to the gym.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Because when you miss twice, you are starting to create a pattern.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: And the pattern does not actually align with the life that you are trying to build or the body that you're trying to build.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: And so you have to be careful of building the correct pattern so that it's easy for you to show up basically on autopilot for your goals so that they do happen.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: So if you miss your steps one day, don't miss twice.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: You get them in tomorrow.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: You miss your water, get it in tomorrow.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: You miss your meals, you don't hit your calories today.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: It's okay, you will do it tomorrow.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: She never misses twice.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: Number eight, she front loads her day to set herself up for success.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: I actually stole this one from Kelly Poole.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: I listened to her podcast last week.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: And this is something that I knew about, but I didn't actually like think about the fact that I was actually doing it for some things, not everything.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: But front loading your day, meaning like your breakfast needs to have 30 to 40 grams of protein.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Starting your day off with a decent amount of protein so that you're not playing ketchup later.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: Starting your day off by chugging a bunch of water.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: First of all, this is good for waking you up, making you feel hydrated, doing all the things, kickstarting your digestion, all of that.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: But then also, so you're not chugging water at 10 p.m.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: and then waking up 55 times in the one night to pee.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Setting yourself up for success.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: Also, getting your steps in.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: I didn't even think about this, but when you can go for a walk for like anywhere between 20 to 45 minutes in the morning, you can get in a third, a quarter, half your steps in first thing in the morning.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: And then it's so much easier to hit your step goal by noon or two o'clock or three o'clock, and then you can just chill for the rest of the day.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: It's when you don't front load your day that you set yourself up for stress and for trying to shove it all in at the end of the day.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And that is what creates the exhaustion.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: That's what creates the overwhelm.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: That's what makes it hard for you to consistently show up because you're overwhelmed.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: You got so much shit to do.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Rather than if you started your day off on the right foot and you set you set yourself up for success, that makes it a hell of a lot easier to not only hit your goals, but then also just to breathe and chill out the rest of the day.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: So the successful woman, she front loads her day to set herself up for success.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Number nine, she keeps everything so freaking simple.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: Fitness is simple.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: At the end of the day, as human beings, we do need to eat.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: It's just a matter of how you're eating.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: And if you set yourself up where you're grocery shopping and you buy mostly whole foods and you eat mostly the same meals every single day, and all you have to do is just show up and eat them.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And you have your workouts planned out.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's three times a week, maybe it's four, maybe it's five, whatever it is.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And you show up and you do the same workouts and you just push yourself, you get stronger, you just drink your water, you get your steps in.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Really, there's like four levers that you need to pull.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: It's your workouts, your nutrition, your water, and your daily movement.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: And the embodied successful woman knows that it's so simple and knows that she doesn't have to overcomplicate it to be successful.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Keep it simple.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: It's like that kiss expression.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: Keep it simple, stupid.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: The more simple you can make it, the easier it is to automate it, and the more that you can just show up on autopilot and not have to think so damn much, not have to expend so much energy trying to figure out how to figure out all the complicated shit.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Just keep it simple because it is simple.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be complicated.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: Once you get it figured out, it is so easy to just run on autopilot.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Except for your workouts.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Those don't need to be so autopilot.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: You do need to like be conscious and push yourself.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: But the structure of your workouts should be easy to follow.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Anyways, number 10.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: We've made it to 10.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: She handles things that would throw anybody else off like a champ.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: I see this all the time with women that will join my program.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: And like I just had it happen last week.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: I assigned a new girl into embody you, super exciting.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, she's an elementary school teacher.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Her school literally had her switch grades second week of school, and she had to completely redo lesson plans and all these things.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: And she's super stressed with work and she's got a couple trips coming up.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: She could very easily say, Oh, not right now, not right now.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: I know she's going to be so successful because she jumped head in, head in.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: She jumped in head first.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: Let me get those words unscrambled.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: And it's honestly through the chaos that you learn the most about how to set up your fitness journey so that you can be successful.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Because I've said this before, I'll say it again until I'm blue in the face.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: But your fitness journey does not really matter or make a difference when life is calm and life is perfect.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: It makes the biggest difference when life is in complete chaos and shambles and going nuts, berserk, crazy off the walls because you learn how to handle everything in the middle of the chaos.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: You learn what to adjust, you learn what's important, you learn what to prioritize, you learn how to expand your capacity.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: All of these things are so, so important to be successful.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: The successful embodied woman, she handles getting sick like a champ.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean she's doing absolutely everything while she's sick.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: She allows herself to be sick, recovers, and immediately picks back up and keeps going as if nothing happens.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Same thing for vacations.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: She goes out of town, she handles the vacation like a champ.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: She comes back in, she comes back into town and she just jumps right back onto her routine, right back into it.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: Work gets a little bit crazy.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, cool.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: We need to be a little bit more strategic, a little bit more careful about our schedule to make sure that everything is prioritized.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: Maybe we need to pull back a little bit, maybe we need to adjust a couple things.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: She handles these things like a freaking champ because again, back to the whole delusional thing.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: She does not believe in average, she doesn't believe in just settling for okay, life is busy this week.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: I guess we're gonna do nothing.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Again, that's what average people would do.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: And the exceptional, delusional woman, the successful embodied woman, is the woman who will take the chaos and adjust her life to make sure she's still getting what she needs in.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: She handles things like a freaking champ because she is, and that's why she's successful.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: Doing these things helps you to embody that kind of character, that kind of woman that you need to be in order to get the results.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: You don't get the results and then become the woman.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: You become the woman and then get the results because becoming the woman, that woman has the actions, the traits, the patterns, the habits, the routines that you need in order to have the physique.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: You don't get the physique until you become the woman who can handle the physique.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Those are all 10 traits.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: And I feel so freaking passionate and so on fire about every single one of them.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: And I'm so excited for you to listen to this episode because it is so good, and I feel so fired up.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: But that is going to conclude today's episode.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: I hope that you enjoyed, and I will chat with you in the next episode.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Bye.
