- 11:23Speaker 19: Hey, guys, this is doctor Roy with today's word on
- 11:26Speaker 19: the avenue. In film and TV news, Hollywood star Matt
- 11:29Speaker 19: Damon has expressed his admiration for acclaimed Indian filmmaker Shikha Kapor,
- 11:34Speaker 19: revealing that he would love to collaborate with him in
- 11:36Speaker 19: the future. Damon also shared that he was once considered
- 11:40Speaker 19: for Kapoor's epic war drama The Four Feathers, but was
- 11:43Speaker 19: unable to join the project due to his commitment to
- 11:46Speaker 19: the born identity, making the possibility of a future collaboration
- 11:50Speaker 19: all the more exciting for cinema lovers across the globe.
- 11:55Speaker 19: In media news, Mindy Kayling recently shared in an interview
- 11:58Speaker 19: that she may bring Indianmarica and stories to screens around
- 12:01Speaker 19: the world, but at home, she faces a challenge familiar
- 12:04Speaker 19: to many parents, introducing children to the foods she loves.
- 12:08Speaker 19: The actor and writer recently shared that while her kids
- 12:12Speaker 19: remain picky eaters when it comes to Indian cuisine, she
- 12:15Speaker 19: happily uses work trips as an opportunity to savor her
- 12:18Speaker 19: favorite South Indian dishes, including dosas and Italy's, proving that
- 12:22Speaker 19: a love for one's culinary roots never really fades. In
- 12:26Speaker 19: event news, while fans eagerly awaited the global trailer launch
- 12:29Speaker 19: of Ramyn at San Diego Common Con, the unveiling was
- 12:33Speaker 19: postponed following changes to the film's international release plans after
- 12:36Speaker 19: Sony Pictures came on board as its global distributor outside India.
- 12:41Speaker 19: Despite the delay, the star studed panel featuring Rounbir Kopur, Yesh,
- 12:45Speaker 19: director Natheesh Devadi and producer Nomaed Milhotra offered audiences an
- 12:49Speaker 19: exciting glimpse into the ambitious cinematic adaptation, with Yesh praising
- 12:54Speaker 19: Runbier's commitment and portrayal of Lord Rahm. That's it for
- 12:58Speaker 19: today's word on the Avenue until next time.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Yeah, So many people that I know went down to
- 13:03Speaker 5: Comic Con down there came back raving about not only
- 13:06Speaker 5: that panel discussion, but the trailer that was shown and
- 13:09Speaker 5: all the festivities in between. Looking forward to seeing that

- 27:53Speaker 3: Thanks so much for having me.
- 27:55Speaker 5: I got a chance to really dive into your story
- 27:58Speaker 5: this week in anticipation of this interview, and I wanted
- 28:01Speaker 5: to start by telling you how especially proud I am
- 28:06Speaker 5: as a musician that you have led this career that
- 28:09Speaker 5: you have. You've taken music, this background of music, you've
- 28:13Speaker 5: turned it into a filmmaker extraordinaire. And before I start
- 28:17Speaker 5: this interview, I wanted to first, you know, give you
- 28:20Speaker 5: a big high five from the brethren of the music
- 28:22Speaker 5: industry to just you know, congratulate you on this journey
- 28:25Speaker 5: that you've been and just how much you use music
- 28:30Speaker 5: in your film. To me, it's not a soundtrack. To me,
- 28:33Speaker 5: it's like a backbone of the visuals that you use. Brother,
- 28:37Speaker 5: Thanks for joining us on the show and tell us
- 28:39Speaker 5: about the marriage of music and film in your work.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Absolutely, Sammy Man, I mean you've got it. I mean,
- 28:48Speaker 3: you know you you are an accomplished musician. Then you
- 28:52Speaker 3: know I hardly am my film career. My career actually
- 28:57Speaker 3: went off because I chased it music. So I always
- 29:00Speaker 3: say that I'm a failed musician and what I wanted
- 29:04Speaker 3: to do I could never do in music, and I
- 29:06Speaker 3: had to make films to be able to make that
- 29:08Speaker 3: music happen, because that's mainly because of where I am.
- 29:12Speaker 3: You know where where I come from, which is Coolcata.
- 29:16Speaker 3: We're back up beyond and you know, nobody really expects
- 29:21Speaker 3: sort of super progressive stuff to come from here. So
- 29:26Speaker 3: it was really cool when we started getting accepted back
- 29:30Speaker 3: in two thousand and nine, when I started putting my workout,
- 29:34Speaker 3: and then of course Ghandu happened in twenty eleven and
- 29:37Speaker 3: we started touring the world with our music. My band
- 29:41Speaker 3: that time was GANDU Circus, and we made between me
- 29:45Speaker 3: and Neil la Ricari, my musical partner.
- 29:47Speaker 5: That's trying to me.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Shout out to Neil Man. He is the main man.
- 29:52Speaker 3: He I mean, we did so many films and albums
- 29:56Speaker 3: and soundtracks and singles together. I can't even found them,
- 30:00Speaker 3: you know.
- 30:00Speaker 5: Now.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Actually the great part of now is that I'm trying
- 30:04Speaker 3: to reconcile that music all together and start bringing it
- 30:08Speaker 3: out again, because you know, we suffered from a big
- 30:12Speaker 3: problem in distribution, and slowly we tried to address that,
- 30:17Speaker 3: and we did with the Netrix drop of all my films.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Netrics actually came into Asia, launched in Asia with my films,
- 30:24Speaker 3: so one way we got the distribution done, you know,
- 30:28Speaker 3: film wise, but music wise, I think now the time
- 30:32Speaker 3: that we should bring those that music out and in
- 30:36Speaker 3: a very different way for the new audience. India changed,
- 30:40Speaker 3: you know, and I'm super charged about that.
- 30:43Speaker 5: That's exciting. It's a whole new frontier for creatives out
- 30:46Speaker 5: there for sure. And you know, there's an interesting part
- 30:49Speaker 5: about your story that I discovered, Q was that, you know,
- 30:53Speaker 5: you have a background, of course, you know, growing up
- 30:55Speaker 5: in Calcutta and then you went on to spend twelve
- 30:59Speaker 5: years in an advertising agency working across many you know, yeah, yeah,
- 31:07Speaker 5: And it's really interesting to me because in that business,
- 31:10Speaker 5: you're you're trying to convince somebody else's story. You're telling
- 31:13Speaker 5: somebody else's story out there. It's not your own, yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 5: but you have to put yourself into their shoes and
- 31:19Speaker 5: project their vision and their story onto the people. What
- 31:23Speaker 5: did that teach you about your own storytelling?
- 31:27Speaker 3: I think what it taught me most. I mean, I
- 31:30Speaker 3: was really lucky in advertising. I got into really cool
- 31:34Speaker 3: agencies with really cool boxes will let me do whatever
- 31:37Speaker 3: I really wanted to do.
- 31:39Speaker 5: And what I really realized is that the idea.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Of brand building and something that struck me back then
- 31:48Speaker 3: was that, you know, artists can make their own brand.
- 31:51Speaker 3: And back then, you know, we we in India, most
- 31:54Speaker 3: artists come from a social afflective background and we sort
- 31:58Speaker 3: of looked down on the brand new bait and the
- 32:00Speaker 3: marketing bit and that's what my training was as well.
- 32:04Speaker 3: But what advertising really taught me was that the world
- 32:08Speaker 3: was going into this consumption pattern that could be predictable,
- 32:14Speaker 3: and this is something that the market always would work
- 32:17Speaker 3: on and this is inevitable. And that's what really happened.
- 32:21Speaker 3: And I think what I could at that point of time,
- 32:24Speaker 3: I could do was to apply the understanding and the
- 32:27Speaker 3: learnings that I had from advertising onto myself and create
- 32:31Speaker 3: this new character called Q. You know, Q comes from
- 32:35Speaker 3: a Japanese film called Visitor Q. So my daddy is
- 32:40Speaker 3: actually Japanese and he's Takashi Maiking. Right, So I come
- 32:44Speaker 3: from a film. I am born out of a film.
- 32:47Speaker 3: And that that idea would be only you know, would
- 32:51Speaker 3: only come to you if you're in the middle pick
- 32:54Speaker 3: of advertising logic. And I was working with male French.
- 32:57Speaker 3: I was working with the best of the best in
- 32:59Speaker 3: the business.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Fact.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and I was in Sri Lanka, which was not
- 33:03Speaker 3: like India, which is which led me free, you know,
- 33:06Speaker 3: And I could work through the islands and the beautiful,
- 33:10Speaker 3: beautiful time, beautiful friends I made and a lot of
- 33:13Speaker 3: courage that I got to actually start doing this by
- 33:17Speaker 3: myself and build a brand.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Yeah, what a story. Incredible. Let's talk about this film, Gandu.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Incredible you put this out? Oh my goodness, what fifteen
- 33:27Speaker 5: years ago? How long has it been?
- 33:30Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 33:30Speaker 5: Fifteen years my goodness.
- 33:33Speaker 11: Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Twenty ten is when Gandu was made, twenty eleven when
- 33:37Speaker 3: it was shown, and twenty eleven in November the film
- 33:41Speaker 3: was leaked on pirate Bay and that's what late led
- 33:46Speaker 3: to Gandhu being Gandhu. And I can tell you now
- 33:50Speaker 3: that it was me and I was working with Pirate
- 33:53Speaker 3: Bay to prove to the world that digital distribution was
- 33:57Speaker 3: the future.
- 33:58Speaker 11: Wow, you know.
- 34:00Speaker 3: And and agent filmmakers including Monko y or Kim Kidok,
- 34:04Speaker 3: who are my titles, they've also come out and said
- 34:08Speaker 3: that without piracy, wouldn't we wouldn't have been seen, you know,
- 34:11Speaker 3: we wouldn't have been able to do anything that we
- 34:15Speaker 3: ended up doing. And I think I have to really
- 34:19Speaker 3: thank the Internet. The Internet at one point zero, yes,
- 34:23Speaker 3: you know, which is free and beautiful and independent, and
- 34:28Speaker 3: we thought that the future had come to us. It
- 34:30Speaker 3: has really and now with two point zero and three
- 34:33Speaker 3: point zero of Internet that we see with lots of
- 34:36Speaker 3: conditions and restrictions. Even then, the youth of India talking
- 34:42Speaker 3: right now, it's a beautiful time.
- 34:43Speaker 12: Man.
- 34:44Speaker 3: We've just had a revolution. I mean, we're just starting
- 34:47Speaker 3: the you know, seeds of change. It's it's the winds
- 34:50Speaker 3: of change are blowing it. I'm the happiest right now.
- 34:54Speaker 5: You know, if the film comes out today, how different
- 34:57Speaker 5: does it do then back then?
- 35:00Speaker 3: I think I think that was the time when Ghandhu
- 35:04Speaker 3: came out, man, I mean Gandhu with Gandhu Ghandhu because
- 35:07Speaker 3: it helped it talked about it documented that time just
- 35:11Speaker 3: before social media, when there was the Internet, there was accessibility,
- 35:16Speaker 3: but it was not like full on, you know, it
- 35:19Speaker 3: was not motivated, controls regulated in the way that it
- 35:23Speaker 3: is right now. So I think Gandhu was the celebration
- 35:27Speaker 3: of that and the idea that a little guy from
- 35:32Speaker 3: Howrah could actually be exposed to the music of Asian
- 35:37Speaker 3: that foundations and be inspired from it and be, you know,
- 35:41Speaker 3: do making music, which is like Gandhu was a musician.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Ghandu is a rapper. No one understands him there, you know,
- 35:48Speaker 3: and all his music is in his mind, you know,
- 35:51Speaker 3: and I can see it because I'm making a film
- 35:53Speaker 3: on him. But actually I'm the Gandhu because I've written
- 35:56Speaker 3: the song. So it is such a beautiful you know.
- 36:02Speaker 3: You know, we were in much. It was really totally
- 36:05Speaker 3: motion kind of process, and I don't think that we
- 36:10Speaker 3: can manage it right now. But there's another kind of
- 36:13Speaker 3: thing that will happened now, you know, another kind of
- 36:16Speaker 3: Gando that's happening right now. Gandu is cockroach right.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Right exactly, yes, exactly. Well put, yeah, I got to
- 36:28Speaker 5: hear of your name back then when this film was
- 36:32Speaker 5: out In my early iteration of my work, I was
- 36:35Speaker 5: involved in the hip hop industry through a group called Kharmacy,
- 36:38Speaker 5: and we were touring around a lot at that time.
- 36:40Speaker 5: And right before you put out that film, you know,
- 36:44Speaker 5: we we kind of you know, stopped our work at
- 36:47Speaker 5: the time. But when we started to see these films
- 36:50Speaker 5: come out and the story of hip hop being told,
- 36:54Speaker 5: it really touched our heart because to me, the film,
- 36:57Speaker 5: when I saw your film, to me, it was like
- 36:59Speaker 5: one of the first you return signals of hip hop
- 37:02Speaker 5: coming back to us from India, you know, and it
- 37:05Speaker 5: was a way, you know, it was a very interesting time.
- 37:08Speaker 5: And then I've seen your career and your name keeps
- 37:10Speaker 5: popping up even here to the Indian Film Festival of
- 37:14Speaker 5: La with a film called Brahma Namen. Your films have
- 37:17Speaker 5: done remarkable things outside of India. They have done what
- 37:22Speaker 5: I would consider an amazing job of being an ambassador
- 37:27Speaker 5: of the culture. And as you see this world democratize,
- 37:31Speaker 5: things are so much they're accessible everywhere. You can get
- 37:35Speaker 5: to anything now, you know, as a filmmaker, tell us
- 37:38Speaker 5: about this new frontier, tell us about the new plateau
- 37:41Speaker 5: for somebody like you, who has oftentimes lived on the
- 37:45Speaker 5: outskirts of the film industry in certain ways, you know,
- 37:48Speaker 5: with these films that have not necessarily been considered mainstream.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Let's just say, and here you are now marrying film
- 37:54Speaker 5: and music. Music has taken off around the world from
- 37:58Speaker 5: our subcontinent. Film is becoming more available. How excited are you? Q?
- 38:05Speaker 3: Well, you know, as I was telling you earlier, you know,
- 38:09Speaker 3: the last seven years were very weird and complex and
- 38:14Speaker 3: socio politically agitating. But what has happened now is really
- 38:20Speaker 3: cool because the Internet is shifting again. The algorithmic prison
- 38:27Speaker 3: that we were in is kind of people are starting
- 38:31Speaker 3: to get to know about that. And the best people
- 38:33Speaker 3: these people is the new audience. This is the new audience.
- 38:38Speaker 3: This is the youth of now who do not have
- 38:41Speaker 3: the baggage that we had to contend with in our
- 38:44Speaker 3: generation and the next. You know, I find that's so
- 38:47Speaker 3: liberating that now it is zero. You know, you play
- 38:52Speaker 3: on zero. We always played in minus. We had to
- 38:55Speaker 3: work our way and from underneath the system to over.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Now everyone's equal, you know, and that that's something that
- 39:04Speaker 3: I've always believed in equality, And this is what we
- 39:08Speaker 3: are seeing in India right now happening. We saw it
- 39:11Speaker 3: in Bangladesh a few you know, a year and a
- 39:15Speaker 3: half back. We just saw it in Nepal happening, We've
- 39:18Speaker 3: seen it in Sri Lanka. Subcontinent is shifting. And I'm
- 39:21Speaker 3: talking only about the subcontinent. Of course, we have a
- 39:23Speaker 3: global presence. My fiams have always played there. As you
- 39:27Speaker 3: just said, I have been a Berlin alumni. I was
- 39:31Speaker 3: in Sundance with Brahma Naman.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I was.
- 39:34Speaker 3: I mean, I was doing the A list festivals mainly
- 39:37Speaker 3: because that was the only way that you could be
- 39:39Speaker 3: seen and be you know, audited and by curators who
- 39:44Speaker 3: would tell you, okay, you're validated now. And now we
- 39:47Speaker 3: could say, okay, these guys valuated me. Now look at me.
- 39:50Speaker 3: You know that shit is gone. Man, that is so cool.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I think that we are onto a new new path
- 39:58Speaker 3: right now. And I oops that this spot throws up
- 40:02Speaker 3: new ideas and new ways of dealing with these problems.
- 40:06Speaker 3: And they are and I'm super eager to learn.
- 40:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that's remarkable, Q, this is awesome. I have a
- 40:13Speaker 5: question for you. My final question is it's one of
- 40:17Speaker 5: my favorite questions I like to ask creatives such as yourself.
- 40:21Speaker 5: There is a young kid in Calculta right now, who
- 40:25Speaker 5: is ten eleven twelve. He is a big hip hop
- 40:31Speaker 5: head because the industry is emerging in India. And he
- 40:36Speaker 5: is of course very very comfortable in working a camera
- 40:41Speaker 5: because he's had an iPhone in his hand or some
- 40:43Speaker 5: sort of phone or something. Yeah, and he looks at
- 40:46Speaker 5: you with amazement. He says, manque, what he did and
- 40:51Speaker 5: what he's doing out there is an inspiration. What would
- 40:55Speaker 5: you tell that young young gentleman or young lady sit
- 41:00Speaker 5: in Calculta right now that is looking for the path forward?
- 41:04Speaker 5: What advice would you give them?
- 41:05Speaker 12: You?
- 41:08Speaker 3: And I would I wouldn't actually advise them, I would
- 41:13Speaker 3: ask for their advice. Brother, I'm telling you these kids
- 41:18Speaker 3: are onto something else. And what we've seen in the
- 41:21Speaker 3: last week, last two weeks in India the way to
- 41:26Speaker 3: deal with establishment, which is what we have done. I
- 41:29Speaker 3: have always done that, the way to move yourself in
- 41:35Speaker 3: your path come what made and our systems have always
- 41:40Speaker 3: been against us, and so is the system against that
- 41:43Speaker 3: ten year, twelve year old, fourteen year old who's working
- 41:46Speaker 3: right now in Calcutta or who's thinking of working, you know.
- 41:51Speaker 3: And I'm glad to tell you that I'm here in person.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I am here in Cookata and we are not only
- 41:57Speaker 3: looking at Cokata but the whole big all and how
- 42:01Speaker 3: to energize the young musicians of beingals to come up
- 42:06Speaker 3: with really original stuff. So one key thing is not
- 42:10Speaker 3: to follow. Do not follow me, do not follow anybody.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Just to your own shit. And that's whatever your inspirations are.
- 42:19Speaker 3: You know, they will percolate into your work without you
- 42:23Speaker 3: trying to think. If you really like it, if you
- 42:25Speaker 3: really love the work, it will be in your blood,
- 42:29Speaker 3: in your brain, so you will have to try to emulate.
- 42:33Speaker 3: You Just do your own shit, and that's where everything
- 42:37Speaker 3: will come together. I'm super hopeful and super charged about
- 42:41Speaker 3: the new era, and I must tell you before we
- 42:44Speaker 3: end that I just made a film about them called Dishlife,
- 42:49Speaker 3: which is a film about the new age micro influences,
- 42:55Speaker 3: the lowest of the low, the guy at the edge
- 42:58Speaker 3: of civilization. You know, yes, nothing but just that fucking phone,
- 43:04Speaker 3: and then taking those videos and finding life through that,
- 43:09Speaker 3: you know, and finding the world through that and what
- 43:12Speaker 3: they have to encounter. The film is about that. The soundtrack,
- 43:16Speaker 3: of course, I'm going back to music. It is the
- 43:19Speaker 3: spine of the film is the soundtrack. Which is done
- 43:22Speaker 3: by my new band that Bayan Juna and most importantly
- 43:26Speaker 3: the first and the most craziest, uh you know label
- 43:32Speaker 3: of India, Gully Gang, who are the you know, number
- 43:36Speaker 3: one hip hop label. Now they've diversified him into everything.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Then they picked it up and now we're working together
- 43:44Speaker 3: to bring this to the wing or the youth, you know.
- 43:47Speaker 3: So I am super kicked. I think that we we
- 43:51Speaker 3: will reach the furthest kids in Bengal and be able
- 43:55Speaker 3: to inspire them to do their own thing.
- 43:58Speaker 5: Wow, you know, gotshak. I have asked this question, I
- 44:03Speaker 5: don't know to how many people, and nobody has ever
- 44:06Speaker 5: said to me I would ask them for their advice.
- 44:10Speaker 5: That's really interesting. When I said to you, you know,
- 44:12Speaker 5: what would you say to that young child or young
- 44:16Speaker 5: individual in Calcutta and everybody else you know has great advice,
- 44:20Speaker 5: amazing advice and it's and it makes you stop. But
- 44:23Speaker 5: nobody has ever said to me that I would stop
- 44:25Speaker 5: and listen to them. Brothers.
- 44:27Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, yeah, they are the ones who Now.
- 44:34Speaker 5: I can't agree more. I can't agree more. It's phenomenal
- 44:37Speaker 5: how they look at the world and it's through a
- 44:39Speaker 5: different less than we did. Literally, and so to your point.
- 44:44Speaker 5: First of all, thank you very much for sharing that
- 44:46Speaker 5: film and your new project there. That sounds very exciting
- 44:49Speaker 5: and something very h apropos for the time, given how
- 44:56Speaker 5: people don't necessarily look at the influencer in that type
- 44:59Speaker 5: of way that they are the ultimate entrepreneur in my eyes.
- 45:03Speaker 5: You know, they taking very very simple ingredients and they've
- 45:08Speaker 5: turned it into revenue, if nothing, commodity and a weapon.
- 45:15Speaker 3: A commodity and weapon at the same time.
- 45:18Speaker 5: Oh my god, that's that's insane.
- 45:21Speaker 3: You know, that's insane, and they're turning him. And I've
- 45:24Speaker 3: always believed, you know, I, as I told you, I
- 45:27Speaker 3: come from this being always saltious and your intellectual filmmaker,
- 45:33Speaker 3: art filmmaker. We have a history of parallel cinema, all
- 45:37Speaker 3: that shit. But now everything is a joke. You know,
- 45:40Speaker 3: everything is joke, and that I think is the main
- 45:44Speaker 3: lesson that we need to take and I am taking
- 45:47Speaker 3: it very very seriously. This joke. If I want to
- 45:52Speaker 3: really live by that, every minute of your life.
- 45:54Speaker 5: Should be a joke. You c awesome talking to you today, brother,
- 45:59Speaker 5: really really nice talk to you. Thank you so much
- 46:01Speaker 5: for sharing your story with us and your insight and
- 46:04Speaker 5: your perspective. Brother, thanks for joining us here on the bridge.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Thank you, Sami. It was great, It was great. Thank
- 46:11Speaker 3: you for having me on the bridge and to you later.

- 49:22Speaker 5: people's specific journeys when you go into this little window
- 49:26Speaker 5: of research that you have to when you interview somebody.
- 49:29Speaker 5: And so when I get a chance to have somebody
- 49:31Speaker 5: in front of me that I'm going to learn about,
- 49:33Speaker 5: it's you you get to It's a rabbit hole. There's
- 49:37Speaker 5: so much about their story. I'm so proud of where
- 49:39Speaker 5: Q has come. Really. Now let's bring Indita to the show.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Hi.
- 49:43Speaker 12: Everyone, this is your Rokasavni radio music correspondent back with
- 49:48Speaker 12: another artist spotlight. Let's spotlight Aditya Ricardi, the Dalli born
- 49:52Speaker 12: Indie singer songwriter who's emotionally raw music has made him
- 49:55Speaker 12: one of the most fastest rising voices in Indian pop today.
- 49:59Speaker 12: Known for her artfil hits like Fastly, Samjona Barrow and
- 50:03Speaker 12: the viral sensation Saheba, Aditya has built a massive fan
- 50:07Speaker 12: base so deeply personal lyrics and minimalist melodies that connects
- 50:10Speaker 12: strongly with gen Z listeners. Twenty twenty six is already
- 50:14Speaker 12: shaping up to be a huge year for him. Earlier
- 50:16Speaker 12: this year, Aditya collaborated with Kudli Khan and Ravator on
- 50:20Speaker 12: the Koch Studio power track ah Nabi, a soulful fusion
- 50:24Speaker 12: record that quickly gained major traction online and across streaming platforms.
- 50:29Speaker 12: He's also continued his streak of releases with songs like
- 50:32Speaker 12: Promise and Lajawa, while expanding further into Bollywood with tracks
- 50:36Speaker 12: for upcoming films including Dukoit and Pattipatni or Vodo. Fans
- 50:40Speaker 12: and critics alike have praise his ability to turn vulnerability
- 50:43Speaker 12: into music that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable, with
- 50:47Speaker 12: many calling him one of the defining voices of India's
- 50:51Speaker 12: indie wave.
- 50:52Speaker 1: With billions of.
- 50:53Speaker 12: Streams, sold out live shows, and a sound that feels
- 50:55Speaker 12: intimate yet cinematic all at once, Aditya Ricari continues proving
- 51:00Speaker 12: that indie music in India has never sounded more honest
- 51:03Speaker 12: or more powerful. Oh that's all for me, Stay tuned
- 51:07Speaker 12: for more only on Ruckus Avenue Radio.
- 51:09Speaker 5: I'm a big fan of Aditiars. He has been around
- 51:12Speaker 5: the business for quite a while and has been dropping

- 51:22Speaker 5: This song is called Saiba, one of the top songs
- 51:25Speaker 5: from what I think it was like twenty twenty four,
- 51:27Speaker 5: and it's become etched in out there. Here's a dea.

- 54:19Speaker 5: Did they recry everybody? He's had a bunch of songs
- 54:24Speaker 5: that have reached the top spot here on the bridge.
- 54:27Speaker 5: I think two of them if I can count correctly,
- 54:29Speaker 5: And this song easily could have been up there too.
- 54:32Speaker 12: You know.

- 57:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I love this break down at the end here
- 57:17Speaker 5: it's cool. Raps a pair everybody. I wanna give a
- 57:20Speaker 5: big shout out to Q for joining us today in
- 57:24Speaker 5: thirty years in this business. And I'll tell you, artist,
- 57:26Speaker 5: I trust most, not the ones who make comfortable things,
- 57:31Speaker 5: the ones who tell you exactly who they are and
- 57:34Speaker 5: pay whatever it costs. Q sat with me today, Kaushik Mukherjee,
- 57:39Speaker 5: And for all the noise around his name, here's who
- 57:42Speaker 5: he told me he actually is. He's a failed musician
- 57:45Speaker 5: who found another instrument. Sit with that because it reorders everything.
- 57:52Speaker 5: The man they call India's most dangerous filmmaker is not
- 57:56Speaker 5: dangerous at all. He's a musician making album out of light.
- 58:01Speaker 5: Gandhu the film that got him branded for life was
- 58:05Speaker 5: a rap musical Black and White, running on hip hop's grammar,
- 58:09Speaker 5: made fifteen years before the mainland rap wave that lives
- 58:13Speaker 5: on this show's countdown every week. Brub Deep right now
- 58:16Speaker 5: is at number five, to Evil right Now is at
- 58:18Speaker 5: number three on my countdown show. Think about that. Two
- 58:21Speaker 5: my top five songs are hip hop songs, and that
- 58:24Speaker 5: lineage has an ancestor. And of course there's so many
- 58:28Speaker 5: names you can tie into it, but one of those
- 58:30Speaker 5: is cute. Nobody hands him that credit tonight on this show,
- 58:35Speaker 5: we do. And his road tells a story my audience
- 58:39Speaker 5: knows in its bones. Yale Premiere, Best Film in New York,
- 58:44Speaker 5: Sun Dance, Berlin, and two full years before his own country,
- 58:49Speaker 5: let his own film be seen, celebrated abroad, censored at home.
- 58:55Speaker 5: That's not just an artist scandal. That's the oldest diaspora
- 58:59Speaker 5: story there is, and he lived it without leaving Calcutta.
- 59:03Speaker 5: Here's the truth I walked away with today. Bengal's cannon
- 59:07Speaker 5: to Gore Ray all that respectability survives because of artists
- 59:12Speaker 5: like Q, not despite them. He took to Gore's own
- 59:16Speaker 5: work and made it psychedelic and I'd call that love
- 59:19Speaker 5: the deepest kind, the kind that refuses to let the
- 59:22Speaker 5: culture fossilize into a museum place to gore scandalize his
- 59:27Speaker 5: establishment too. Q is not the Canon's vandal, he's its air.
- 59:33Speaker 5: Go find his films tonight, start anywhere. Let them make
- 59:37Speaker 5: you uncomfortable. That discomfort is the medicine, and it was
- 59:42Speaker 5: always the point. And give the man his flowers while
- 59:45Speaker 5: he can still smell them. All right, I'll leave you
- 59:48Speaker 5: with Tesher. Let's see you tomorrow. Face
