- 0:29Welcome into a very exciting episode of the scene.
- 0:31I am your host, Bubba Starts, and with me today is my brother coming back to the scene
- 0:37projects, Andrew Branson.
- 0:40Brother, welcome back to the show.
- 0:42What's going on, dude?
- 0:44Man, it's really cool to see, what has happened in the last month and, seeing that you guys had
- 0:52a great show, it looks like, up there at the Sherwood Lounge, and you're coming back there.
- 0:58So that's why we had to get you back in the show and talk about this new one coming up.
- 1:03Dude, much appreciated.
- 1:05I it was quite a quite a wild time.
- 1:08The first show, terrible, terrible weather, but we still got, like, thirty, forty people in
- 1:13this little bar and we had a great show.
- 1:15And that being said, if the show I I told them when we were negotiating for few future shows,
- 1:21I was like, for how bad the roads were and how good the turnout was, just imagine what's gonna
- 1:26happen when I can pay headliners, get a good headliner in here, and then there's good
- 1:31weather.
- 1:31All the stars align.
- 1:32All the stars align, and we can all just fill out this entire bar, and I guarantee I'm gonna
- 1:36astound Colleen and her and everyone that works there with the the the comedy that I'm bringing
- 1:42there.
- 1:42It's gonna be a great time.
- 1:43Yeah.
- 1:44Well, and so much about what that first time was was just a, hey.
- 1:48Will this work?
- 1:49Are you funny?
- 1:50Was more than anything.
- 1:51It it wasn't it was less can you bring people or, like, are you guys actually going to be
- 1:56funny?
- 1:56So I feel like anytime that you're doing a first bit and you'd kinda done that, with your,
- 2:01you know, few minutes that we provided when when you came starts and ends was playing up
- 2:06there that it was like, okay.
- 2:08He's funny.
- 2:09Well, does he have funny friends?
- 2:11Right?
- 2:11Is that next step?
- 2:12And now that you've proven that, it's like, okay.
- 2:14Cool.
- 2:14Let's start to look further out and then start to schedule some more regular dates and to get
- 2:19this popping.
- 2:20So really excited to see that you're back in there now, coming up soon.
- 2:25What's the date for the show?
- 2:26The next next one is, Wednesday, January 14.
- 2:29So it's next Wednesday, next Wednesday, at the Sherwood Lounge.
- 2:33And, everyone so, like, let me tell you this.
- 2:36So I was able to negotiate with them, and now I can pay headliners.
- 2:40So that means that I can book better headliners.
- 2:42I can get people who are excited to make an occasional 50 to $100 on a Wednesday night,
- 2:46something like that.
- 2:47And then also, like, the the people, in the Minneapolis scene, like the the comedy scene,
- 2:53they don't have that many mics to do on a Wednesday.
- 2:55So if this continues and I can continue this trajectory, get other bars and clubs to follow
- 3:00suit as well, join in on the cause of having Claiborne comedy in their venue, that, this
- 3:06could be something that could grow.
- 3:07And my goal for 2026 is to have two or three book shows that I'm producing every month every
- 3:15month.
- 3:15And And I love it.
- 3:17And to just take Wednesday nights and say, those are my night regardless of what the venue
- 3:21is.
- 3:22Because maybe not every venue.
- 3:23I mean, obviously, most venues aren't gonna be, prepared to do comedy every Wednesday night.
- 3:29And most some aren't gonna be willing or able to do it every month.
- 3:33But if you can stack up a list of venues, and I would highly recommend, Andrew, you guys gotta
- 3:39get video of these sets that you're doing this time so that you can prove the concept and use
- 3:44that as a, you know, an audition tape to very like, hey.
- 3:48This is what we're doing at the Sherwood Lounge.
- 3:51This is what we can recreate at your venue.
- 3:54And that's actually what I just had a meeting with my producer who is actually he's also the
- 3:59music act on my show, Oscar Straumannis.
- 4:02He's very, very funny, very musically talented.
- 4:05I give I give him, like, fifteen, twenty minutes before the show.
- 4:07He does some Johnny Cash covers.
- 4:09He does some of his originals, and then he'll play guitar in between comics when they come
- 4:13up.
- 4:13He he just brings up the production value of
- 4:15Great idea.
- 4:17Great idea.
- 4:18I know that, historically, comedians have opened for the music acts.
- 4:23Right?
- 4:24Jim Brewer used to go out and open for Metallica of all people back in the day.
- 4:28But to have the music to kinda set the mood and get everybody feeling good before you just
- 4:35start hitting them with jokes and then having that in between a little you know?
- 4:40And it doesn't have to be very long.
- 4:41Get up, play a song, gives everybody a break, gives them a chance to go grab a drink and to
- 4:46do those things because you want them engaged in the comedy at this show.
- 4:51Exactly.
- 4:51And then, like, the added production value of there being a physical person on stage playing
- 4:56music, it's like, oh, this is a little bit more put together.
- 4:58We should give him more of our attention, which is why I wanted to bring him on.
- 5:02But, also, we had this meeting last week talking about exactly what you just brought up.
- 5:06I have a camera where he's actually running to the store today to grab some more camera
- 5:10equipment, and we're gonna be focusing on recording our shows.
- 5:13And I'm gonna be able to put out clips from, like, funny moments that happened.
- 5:17Comics could pay me a minimal fee of, like, $5 to get get their entire twenty minute clip or
- 5:22fifteen minute clip.
- 5:24Brother, we'll put them up and create a new comedy hour on the scene projects, man.
- 5:29I'm totally down to work with you guys on something like that.
- 5:32And we have connections to other media companies on Roku, Apple, Amazon that would be
- 5:38more than willing to take that content and put it out either.
- 5:41We can build our own Comedy Central right next to my MTV.
- 5:46Mhmm.
- 5:47Dude, I love this idea.
- 5:48It's brilliant.
- 5:49And I I let me tell you this.
- 5:50Is that, all the comedians that I'm booking from on my show, are either passed by other on
- 5:57this on this show, the my next show that I'm doing, like, all the comedians that are on
- 6:01there are are passed by local comedy clubs and or they feature or headline in their own right.
- 6:09So Elizabeth Celine, she's coming up at the scene very strong right now.
- 6:14She's been making waves in the past year and a half, two years.
- 6:17Trey Charles, again, very, very confident in what he can do.
- 6:21He's very funny.
- 6:22He also has the style of, like, a seventies dude.
- 6:24Big handlebar mustache, classic style.
- 6:27He's so fun to watch.
- 6:28You gotta come check him out.
- 6:29Whitney Haverstock at the top left, he is known as the mayor of Minneapolis comedy.
- 6:35So he, like he'll he'll wear a blazer, but he dresses pristine, kind of business casual, but
- 6:41smacks you in the face with whatever he's about to say.
- 6:44It's crazy.
- 6:45He he's gonna hit you with some black hooks if you come see some of the show.
- 6:47It's gonna be a good time.
- 6:49Top right, Drew Rudenstadt.
- 6:51He's a good buddy of mine.
- 6:52Very, very funny.
- 6:53Me and him nerd nerd out about movies and stuff and and different different music that we like.
- 6:58He he's very good.
- 7:00Eric Anton.
- 7:01Eric Anton, he has been making waves in, like, the bar scene that I've been noticing.
- 7:07A lot of people have been really loving his his shows, and whenever he gets on a mic at, like,
- 7:11these, like, these bars or little clubs, everyone enjoys it.
- 7:15It's it's such a good time.
- 7:16And
- 7:16I'm Well, that's a different beast too.
- 7:18Right?
- 7:18To to be able to command attention in a crowded bar and and to be able to get people and to
- 7:24have them engage with you as a comedian is a tough ask.
- 7:28That's why I that's why I asked the people who I asked because I know they do really well.
- 7:33All of them in their own right do really well in comedy clubs, and they all can maintain
- 7:37attention at these dive bar spots that I'm producing.
- 7:41So that's why I I created the show.
- 7:43And then
- 7:44The dive bar comedy tour.
- 7:45I love it.
- 7:46Yes.
- 7:47Yes.
- 7:48I was actually just doing I was working at House of Comedy.
- 7:51I I door staff and do sound booth and, like, produce a little bit sound booth at House of
- 7:56Comedy at the Mall Of America.
- 7:57We just had uncle Lazer there, and he's from Hill County.
- 8:02So we were I was hanging out after the show and having drinks with him, and he was like, hey,
- 8:06man.
- 8:06I got this idea.
- 8:07I got this idea.
- 8:08Then I was like, I've heard the idea before because it's not a foreign idea.
- 8:12But if someone can capitalize on that idea on large scale, it's very profitable and it's very
- 8:17cool.
- 8:18He was saying he wants to do some type of blue collar comedy tour, but for, like, north, east,
- 8:28south, West.
- 8:29Get, like, different regions of different styles of comedians that can still hone in on,
- 8:35like, the urban country, you know, suburban, outback type of crowd.
- 8:41You know what I mean?
- 8:41Well, and instead of going out on your own and just one person who now has to command the
- 8:47stage for an hour long set, you almost kinda do on the show that you featured on.
- 8:52We talked about last time you were on the show where, you know, where they went out in a
- 8:57tandem and also had a podcast with it.
- 9:00Like, bring the whole show.
- 9:01It takes pressure off your comedy set, off of everyone in the crew, and you're gonna have a
- 9:07shitload of fun out there traveling around together.
- 9:11Mhmm.
- 9:12It's gonna
- 9:12be But imagine the jokes that are going to come from everybody just, like, vibing in the hang
- 9:18of the tour.
- 9:20Mhmm.
- 9:21And let me tell you about the headliner that I have on my show.
- 9:23This guy's name is Riley Cosgrove.
- 9:25He's been an entity in the scene for the I've known him for, like, five, six years.
- 9:30He knew me before I started doing comedy.
- 9:33He actually worked with me at House of Comedy back in the day.
- 9:36He was a server while he was also doing comedy.
- 9:39I have him headlining.
- 9:40He's a feature act.
- 9:41He's headlined.
- 9:42He's done shows all over the nation.
- 9:45He's done he he recently, he moved back from Chicago, killing it over there.
- 9:50But he's one of those guys, six foot four, tall, sassy white guy, and this bar is not
- 9:55gonna see what what's coming.
- 9:57It's gonna be the best time.
- 9:58I I posted some clips about him.
- 10:00If you're ear if you're if anyone's curious watching this, riley underscore cosgrove on
- 10:05Instagram.
- 10:06Check out his clips.
- 10:07Super, super funny guy.
- 10:09Awesome.
- 10:10Well, he's gonna have to watch his head.
- 10:11They don't have particularly tall ceilings at the well, you know what?
- 10:16No.
- 10:16No.
- 10:16No.
- 10:16My my tall Paul fit up there.
- 10:19He's gonna be fine.
- 10:21He'll be fine.
- 10:21He'll be fine.
- 10:22But he'll be he'll be he'll be, talking shit about everyone at the bar.
- 10:25It's gonna be a great time.
- 10:27Yeah.
- 10:27I really think you
- 10:29gotta come check out one of these shows, man.
- 10:30I I I I'm telling you, it's gonna be a great time.
- 10:32Yeah.
- 10:33Well, you keep having them, brother, and I will make it up there at some point.
- 10:36I love this tour idea, and I think we're really onto something.
- 10:40We're gonna keep talking about that because I'm actually working with a company called Music
- 10:44Mogul AI who's building a booking agent and this massive database of theaters and venues
- 10:53for musicians, but I'm gonna suggest this to my buddy Brad when we when we get off the call and
- 11:01I talk to him later today about, hey.
- 11:03How much would it take to turn this to comcomedians and to provide that kind of
- 11:09service to a whole another sector of creators and performers?
- 11:13I think it's brilliant.
- 11:15Bro, that'd be amazing.
- 11:16Thank you so much.
- 11:17I'll tell you about this.
- 11:18This is like the niche that I want to go for my show.
- 11:21I want to be able to reach the, like, suburban crowds, the dive bars that are in, like, you
- 11:26know, the Lakeville, the Burnsville, the Shakopee, like, two hours into the, like, the
- 11:32center of the state type of vibes.
- 11:34You know what I mean?
- 11:34Like, little country bars, little pubs and stuff like that.
- 11:39Anywhere that has a stage that maybe doesn't fill it on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday night.
- 11:44And then we can try to figure that out because I know my comics and I know that they want to
- 11:48fill in their time of, like, a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday night.
- 11:51If they got nothing going on, they'll drive forty minutes to an hour to make $100 or
- 11:55something.
- 11:55It's gonna be a great time.
- 11:56And so I feel like if if I've I've traveled around Minneapolis so much in the past, like,
- 12:03three or four years doing comedy and Minnesota as a whole.
- 12:07Just noticing that there's so many of these little dive bars in, you know, these country
- 12:11towns or in the suburban areas that just do music, but they have a great stage for comedy.
- 12:17Well, they probably have a great local following that are in there.
- 12:21I mean, we know what these townie dive bars are like.
- 12:24We know their crowds.
- 12:25We know that they would be so appreciative of somebody bringing the show to them.
- 12:31And you need to get, like, a 12 passenger van that everybody can just throw into and not
- 12:36everybody's driving separately.
- 12:38Right?
- 12:39And just, yeah, take this show on the road, brother.
- 12:41I think you're building something incredible and that forward thinking of what you're doing
- 12:46and being willing to put other people on.
- 12:49That's really where it starts from is your your willingness to say, hey.
- 12:54I'm not just about this because you could very easily just go, hey.
- 12:57I want this night for me, and I'm gonna take it.
- 12:59And I'm gonna make a couple $100, and nobody else is gonna get a chance to step on that
- 13:04stage.
- 13:04Right?
- 13:05But instead, you've built this incredible night of comedy.
- 13:09You're supporting all of these other comedians, and the bar is getting a show that's above and
- 13:14beyond what they would get from just a single person.
- 13:18Mhmm.
- 13:19And I'll tell you this.
- 13:20On the the first night of our show on December 10, because of the terrible weather, I was
- 13:25astounded by how many people actually came out and supported the show.
- 13:28There's about 30 people, almost 40 people in there.
- 13:31And and, also, the Minneapolis scene comes out to support shows.
- 13:35If you if when when people started to find out that I'm producing my own show, there was,
- 13:39like, 10 people from the Minneapolis scene who weren't on the show just coming to support.
- 13:45And that's what's also gonna happen.
- 13:47If I get these shows that are, like, maybe twenty, thirty, forty minutes out of the city,
- 13:51that's not too far.
- 13:52A lot of these people who live in the area who are comedians are going to get their friends,
- 13:57their family, everything else, and come support it because they love the Minneapolis comedy
- 14:01scene and they love the support.
- 14:03That being said, also, we're we're penciling in ourselves into their regular market, the the
- 14:09Sherwood Lounge regular market, which you know it has they have a great crowd.
- 14:13They have a great audience.
- 14:14Oh, great batch of people that hang out there, and it's a family.
- 14:17And that's what you have at all of these, you know and and I want people to understand that
- 14:21when we say dive bar, we say it in the most endearing way possible.
- 14:26That is people's home.
- 14:27I mean, think of Cheers.
- 14:29You're probably too young to remember the old TV show, but where everybody knows your name.
- 14:34Everybody has one of these places.
- 14:36And instead of trying to pull them away from their from their spot, you're showing up in
- 14:43their spot and bringing the whole damn crew.
- 14:46Right?
- 14:46It's an amazing concept.
- 14:48I I I'm gonna continue to support you and put you on our program and platform you to promote
- 14:55this thing because I think it's an incredible way.
- 14:57And if we can start to capture those content and put it on these platforms as well, brother,
- 15:04we're building a little feedback loop of growing this.
- 15:07And and I've had the comedy moniker at the top of our scene, you know, at the Scene Project's
- 15:13logo since its inception.
- 15:16I've always envisioned this being a part of it.
- 15:19I just not being of the comedy world and having a fledgling comedy, you know, scene here mostly
- 15:26around Sioux Falls of which I'm not, you know, I'm not in that location.
- 15:30So it's really taken somebody like you, and who knew that, you know, a a simple conversation
- 15:36outside of the bar that you happen to kind of fall into that night would turn into all of
- 15:41this.
- 15:42Right, man.
- 15:43My friend Jesse just invited me to the bar.
- 15:45We were going to watch some football.
- 15:46We didn't know there was gonna be your band there, and we just, like, had the best time.
- 15:50We had the best time, picked up a conversation.
- 15:52And I'll tell you this right now.
- 15:53I actually think some comedians would go to Sioux Falls.
- 15:56If you have a venue in mind where you wanna do a music slash comedy show, I could bring a
- 16:00couple comedians up there, and we would we would have a great time.
- 16:03That would be awesome, man.
- 16:06That would be absolutely awesome.
- 16:07And I got one in mind, a place that we work at quite a bit.
- 16:10And they have, some stages, and they're doing some comedy.
- 16:14Shout out to my guy, Zach Dresch, who does a ton of stuff and had a really great year
- 16:18bringing comedy out.
- 16:20But we got some other, people that are doing some amazing things that they've been on the
- 16:25show, and they're just some really great people in Sioux Falls in the scene now.
- 16:30And, they're, you know the music and comedy scenes in Sioux Falls are really together too.
- 16:35So they have the Sioux Falls open mic.
- 16:37My friend John Small owns a radio station.
- 16:39He's a clean comedian, but he does comedy all over the state.
- 16:43So I'm gonna connect you with some people down here.
- 16:45And if we can get that tie in like we've done with the music scenes again, Devin Worley
- 16:51Band's gonna be coming back down from Minneapolis to play in Sioux Falls at at a bar
- 16:55called the Den later this month, actually.
- 16:58I I better get my tickets.
- 17:00And, because I'm not gonna miss that, and I wanna get out to see my friends that, we we
- 17:07have something building and growing, and we just need to stay dedicated to it and working
- 17:12with the venues that are willing to have us and growing this whole thing.
- 17:17I think I actually think some of the comedians I have on my next show on this poster have
- 17:21performed in Sioux Falls.
- 17:22I'm pretty sure Elizabeth Saline has.
- 17:24I'm pretty sure Trey Charles, maybe Whitney Haverstock.
- 17:30But yeah.
- 17:31I also just wanted to say this.
- 17:33I've had this mantra since I was, like, 17 years old, just skateboarding at the skate
- 17:38park, you know, doing kickflips and shit.
- 17:40And I've always said this, like, I'm about to do something scary.
- 17:43I'm about to do a scary trick, and I just shout into the world, believe and achieve.
- 17:47Believe.
- 17:48Believe and achieve, you know.
- 17:49Doesn't matter what it is.
- 17:51That it didn't go for anything, you know.
- 17:53You you have to believe to achieve.
- 17:55But sometimes you can achieve without believing, but that's after you believed
- 17:59repetitively enough and you can catch yourself by surprise.
- 18:03But the short mantra is believe and achieve.
- 18:06I wanna get that tattooed.
- 18:07I wanna get t shirts made of it.
- 18:08I want that to be my merch.
- 18:09I wanna maybe name my podcast that.
- 18:12I just think that's a mantra that can go anywhere in life.
- 18:16Believe and achieve.
- 18:17Doesn't matter what you're doing.
- 18:18If you're reaching for your goals, if you're, like, trying to start to work out again, you're
- 18:22doing your new year's resolutions, believe and achieve.
- 18:24Believe that you can achieve whatever you're going to do.
- 18:27Yeah.
- 18:28Well, we got another bar down here called Lucky's that I see is back doing.
- 18:32Lucky's bar is back with their open mic and doing stuff here.
- 18:36And sorry.
- 18:36I'm kinda jumping in, and it's been a while since I've checked in on everybody.
- 18:40It's so, you know, rare.
- 18:42Sarah Manson, look her up on Facebook, s a r a.
- 18:48Shout out to our friend.
- 18:49She's doing some awesome stuff.
- 18:51I, I love this picture.
- 18:52I'm gonna share this picture up with everybody and shout out some of her shows too.
- 18:57Because building it all together is really what this is about.
- 19:01So, yeah, man.
- 19:04Love what you've built up there.
- 19:05Love what you're building and growing, and, shout out to the Sioux Falls music community
- 19:11and and open mic and and comedy community for continuing to stick with it.
- 19:17You know, we don't have the advantage of having a major city center.
- 19:23Right?
- 19:24We we have Sioux Falls is a few 100,000 people.
- 19:27So they're still doing these, every Tuesday.
- 19:30They've been going incredible.
- 19:32Sarah's great.
- 19:32They would love to have you anytime.
- 19:34She would be a great connection for you to, build into this scene.
- 19:39So make sure that, you connect with her on Facebook.
- 19:42All you other comedy folks that are in Minneapolis that are gonna see this, do the
- 19:46same.
- 19:47They would love to have you and and to help to bridge those communities because everybody in
- 19:51Sioux Falls would love to come up to Minneapolis.
- 19:53Right?
- 19:54And and vice versa.
- 19:55So it's such a cool pipeline that we're building here.
- 19:59Mhmm.
- 19:59She seems she seems familiar.
- 20:01Like, a lot of comedians in, their surrounding states come to Minneapolis, you know, if
- 20:06they're going to see a concert or something.
- 20:08They're going to see a football or hockey game or maybe they're coming for the Acme's Funniest
- 20:14Person contest.
- 20:14And, like, some sometimes I'll meet comedians from, you know, North Dakota, South Dakota,
- 20:19Iowa, Wisconsin, or Chicago.
- 20:21And and I'll be like, how do I recognize you?
- 20:23And it's like, oh, you were in town a year ago at one of my shows because you were on the
- 20:28contest.
- 20:29Like, that's what I think about Sarah.
- 20:30I I recognize her a little bit.
- 20:32Yeah.
- 20:32Well, I I know she anywhere there's a mic, she's gonna get on it.
- 20:36I know that about her.
- 20:38Zach Dresch the same way.
- 20:40He's actually a fantastic drummer too.
- 20:41He actually played some shows with my pants starts and ends, not this last summer, but the
- 20:46summer before.
- 20:47And, man, I'm just so blessed that these scenes are growing.
- 20:51It's the reason that I started the platform, the scene projects, is because to support
- 20:57wherever your scene is.
- 20:58It's not just about, like, our little local thing that we're doing.
- 21:01It's about the Minneapolis or Chicago, and now we're taking this show on the road to major
- 21:05markets around the world or, you know, at least around the country right now, around the world
- 21:10in the near future.
- 21:11But, you know, we're going on tour in March hitting Detroit, Nashville, Dallas, Austin,
- 21:16Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta.
- 21:18You know, we're getting out and touching these major points because everyone is dealing with
- 21:23the same issue is that there's not enough people that are willing to do what we do.
- 21:29And and, Andrew, you're getting better at this podcast thing.
- 21:32I'm really gonna have to start pushing you to start your own podcast where you can start
- 21:36hosting everyone on interviews in your scene, and we would air that onto the scene projects
- 21:42network as well, brother.
- 21:43That's what we are all here for and using our connections into the other media outlets that
- 21:49we have, to keep putting this stuff out.
- 21:51It's just incredible what you've been doing.
- 21:54You're so motivated.
- 21:55You're such a light, and lighthearted person to go out there, and you don't get discouraged
- 22:01easily.
- 22:02And I think that may be your your best trait is that nothing's going to stop you.
- 22:08And if you have that, then you won't be stopped.
- 22:11Thank you.
- 22:12I appreciate you.
- 22:12And congratulations for going on tour.
- 22:15That's gonna be a lot of fun, dude.
- 22:16That's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 22:18Yeah.
- 22:18Well, we got an opportunity to go down to Nashville, to cover the Josie Music Awards,
- 22:23which is a large independent thing, but it was at the Grand Ole Opry House.
- 22:26So I did a 150 interviews with on the red carpet and realizing that value and being able
- 22:32to communicate and talk to all these artists that were coming from all over the world and
- 22:38realizing that, okay, now that we know each other, hey, I'll be in your town or closer to
- 22:42you, you know, you don't have to just come to me.
- 22:45I'll come to you.
- 22:45I love to travel.
- 22:47Right?
- 22:47And nobody is just, like, randomly landing in my little farm town in the middle of South
- 22:51Dakota.
- 22:53I I I watched some of your interviews.
- 22:55They're really good.
- 22:55I I I and I will say this.
- 22:58You gotta bite off a little bit more than you can chew.
- 23:01You can't stay complacent.
- 23:03You can't stay in your little bubble.
- 23:05You gotta bite off a little bit more than you can chew because I saw this quote earlier this
- 23:08year.
- 23:09You know what's crazy is that memes, after enough time, memes can turn into quotes, which
- 23:14is which is ridiculous to think about because we live in this era.
- 23:17But anyway, I saw this meme quote where it was like, no one is expecting change.
- 23:23No one expects the change you're about to get.
- 23:26You don't expect what the change you're about to that's about to happen to you.
- 23:30So reach but bite off just a little bit more than you can chew.
- 23:34Not too much, but, you know, like, back up a little bit.
- 23:38My show that I wanna produce, I wanna put out two or three shows a month producing myself,
- 23:43the type of show that I do.
- 23:45And I'm thinking about if the trajectory goes well in the next year, 2027, I wanna reach out
- 23:50to Chicago, North Dakota, South Dakota, like, the whole Midwest.
- 23:55Just tour the Midwest with this little show that I'm doing.
- 23:58And that way, it'll build up more confidence.
- 24:00I'll build more confidence.
- 24:01I'll build more of a stage presence than I already have.
- 24:03And then also, it becomes kind of like a mystery.
- 24:06Like, where's Claiborne comedy gonna be this week?
- 24:08Where's Claiborne comedy at?
- 24:10Brother, it's a reality show.
- 24:12You get cameras and get a full time camera person to follow you.
- 24:16You throw six comedians in a van, renting out Airbnbs across the Midwest, film everything,
- 24:24and brother, you got some you got gold there because that's what people want now.
- 24:29They want to live vicariously through that.
- 24:33It's why reality TV is as popular as it is.
- 24:36Right?
- 24:36And now you're not just bringing the the show and the performance, but you're capturing all
- 24:42of the backstage stuff.
- 24:44Shout out to Wildman TV.
- 24:46My buddy Clayton Ryan, he's up there tearing up the scene in Minneapolis.
- 24:50But him and, Casey have teamed up Coffee Break Entertainment, my guy, Alec Glauwitz, Zander in
- 24:57the couch, that, they have done something incredible.
- 25:02And while they're not getting the views now, the content that they have created is
- 25:07absolutely bananas.
- 25:09This TV show that they created when no one was asking for it, right, is gold.
- 25:15And I share it every time I can and continue to put it out there and looking to get them into
- 25:20some of our networks and and on some of the things that we're doing as well.
- 25:24But it's staying focused on the creation and the capture and the views and the attention
- 25:30will come after.
- 25:32Right?
- 25:32And I think that's what some people forget is that we live in this world of instant
- 25:36gratification that you feel like if that piece of content that you put out doesn't go viral
- 25:43that you failed.
- 25:44No.
- 25:45You're just not ready yet.
- 25:46The world isn't ready yet.
- 25:49So save it, post it again in six months, and keep going and keep going.
- 25:54And, really, that tidal wave hits you when you least expect it, when you've been at this grind
- 26:00for three years and it feels like you should have given up a year and a half ago, and then
- 26:06that's when it finally happens for you.
- 26:08But you have to prove it to the universe that you're willing to keep going.
- 26:13And I think once you've kind of established that, that's that's when the universe goes,
- 26:17okay, buddy.
- 26:18Here you go.
- 26:19Look at Kill Tony.
- 26:20Kill Tony was on the air for ten years.
- 26:23You know what I mean?
- 26:23Or eight years before they moved to Austin and before it really started to get I mean, they
- 26:28did it for five to seven years before it was anything.
- 26:32Right?
- 26:32And that was even locally in a place that has a thriving music community because Tony was
- 26:37willing to show up every Monday night and to never quit.
- 26:41And that's what it's about.
- 26:43That's what it takes.
- 26:44And, also, I didn't I I I I didn't wanna just breeze by this.
- 26:47You told me to look this up.
- 26:48What was your buddy's program that he he puts on?
- 26:51His his TV show that you you that's kinda like a reality show you were just talking
- 26:54TV.
- 26:55You can find them on YouTube.
- 26:57Yeah, man.
- 26:58And Clayton Ryan is is his name as an artist.
- 27:03You won't find him on any of the streaming services anymore.
- 27:07He's gonna be doing everything just organic, real, back to the email, text lists, and
- 27:13connecting with real human beings.
- 27:15He's done playing the Spotify game.
- 27:18God bless him for everything that he's doing.
- 27:20And and I really think it's a movement that maybe he didn't start, but I think he's gonna
- 27:25bring a lot of attention to it.
- 27:26He's one of the most talented people I've ever met in my life.
- 27:29I will continue to pump their tires every time I get a chance to.
- 27:33And, what they've done with their TV show is unreal, man.
- 27:37I think you're really gonna love it.
- 27:39I'll have to check it out.
- 27:40I love everything you're talking about, man.
- 27:42It sounds really cool.
- 27:43It sounds like a cool experience.
- 27:44Awesome.
- 27:45Well, one more time, we're gonna put the flyer back up.
- 27:47Tell everybody where they can find y'all and what's going on.
- 27:51Follow me on all my social medias, Andrew Branson Comedy, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube,
- 27:56TikTok, and follow my show, Claiborne Comedy.
- 28:01I'm gonna be making an Instagram and a social media for the show itself.
- 28:05I'm booked at the Sherwood Lounge every second Wednesday of the month until April or May for
- 28:10the next four months or so.
- 28:12And then we're gonna discuss whether we're gonna keep doing the show in the summertime.
- 28:15But right now, it is a testing period while I'm also just producing these great shows.
- 28:19Come out, support it.
- 28:20The next show is what January 14, Wednesday, January 14, and then my next show is, I think,
- 28:29February 11.
- 28:31Awesome, man.
- 28:32Well, we're gonna get you back on.
- 28:33We're gonna make it a regular segment to get you here, talk about your shows, and to do this
- 28:38properly to be the promotion arm of Claiborne comedy.
- 28:42I'm gonna keep leaning on you to start doing interviews with your friends and getting your,
- 28:47getting your comedy, professionals on and, just talking with them.
- 28:52And I think after I think right after this show is a great time.
- 28:55Get everybody back on to talk about the show that they just did.
- 28:58Give everybody a little bit of FOMO knowing that they're gonna be able to come through in
- 29:03February and to check out another show.
- 29:05And if you got a monthly lined up right now at the Sherwood Lounge, man, I'm so damn proud of
- 29:10you.
- 29:10You you capitalize on a single moment and and have turned it into this.
- 29:16Right?
- 29:16You took five minutes and turned it into 12 shows.
- 29:20Thank you for hyping me up.
- 29:22Thank you for giving me this opportunity to, you know, shine a light on the Minneapolis and
- 29:27Twin Cities comedy scene.
- 29:29Thank you for giving me the time on stage that night I met you.
- 29:31That was such a fun time.
- 29:32I would love to perform music with you next time I see you, man.
- 29:36Would love to just set like, I feel like it'd be so cool to share the stage with you again
- 29:40and just go back and forth with the different music chops.
- 29:42It'd be a really good time.
- 29:44I'm just bringing that up because I was just thinking about that before we started.
- 29:47I'm like, man, I had such a cool time on stage with you.
- 29:50It would be so cool to keep doing that, man.
- 29:51So, like, next time you have you have an idea for a show or something in Sioux Falls where
- 29:55maybe a comedy music type of, you know, showcase of both both things.
- 30:00You know?
- 30:00Let's just try to figure something out like that.
- 30:02That sounds incredible, man.
- 30:03Yeah.
- 30:03I I think I'm gonna reach out to a couple of venues as soon as possible and and kinda pitch
- 30:08the idea to them and see what we can get moving.
- 30:11I'll be back up in April, but it's gonna be the third week because the first falls on a
- 30:16Wednesday.
- 30:16So your show will probably be on April 8, and I won't be in town till the eighteenth.
- 30:20We got another smoking on the runway show that we're gonna come up and take a part in that
- 30:24too.
- 30:25I don't know if they'll be back at the hook and ladder or not, but what a cool venue.
- 30:29Oh, by the way, I did talk to your buddy, Ira Ford, and got him on the show.
- 30:33I don't know if I posted the episode.
- 30:35I think it got lost in the shuffle a little bit over the holidays, but I know that we talked a
- 30:40lot about the the bong show.
- 30:43So
- 30:44Oh, the bong show is so much fun, man.
- 30:46If you can get if you can come out and watch one of the one of the episodes of the bong
- 30:50show, he's gonna be recording it, I think, this year and trying to put out every episode on
- 30:54YouTube.
- 30:55That's one of the shows that I've been seeing in the scene where, like, I'm watching it and
- 31:00I'm, like, everyone's getting high.
- 31:02Everyone's smoking weed.
- 31:04You know, like, I do a minute, someone else does a minute, the crowd reacts to see who did
- 31:08better, and whoever did worse has to take a bomb rip to stay on stage.
- 31:11And the show slowly falls apart in the funniest, most, like, nuanced way.
- 31:17And it's so fun to watch the host get so fucking high, and then, like, the show kinda
- 31:22slowly falls apart, but we're still there together, and we're there for it.
- 31:25It's such a fun time.
- 31:26Oh, what a blast.
- 31:28Alright.
- 31:28Well, one more time.
- 31:29Everybody make sure January 14, are at the Sherwood Lounge.
- 31:32That's on White Bear in Saint Paul.
- 31:35Go check it out.
- 31:36Claiborne Comedy.
- 31:37Awesome lineup of Minneapolis comedians.
- 31:40And, Andrew, you're killing it, man.
- 31:43Just keep crushing it out there.
- 31:45You're doing a great job, and and I will continue to put you on the SCENE Projects
- 31:50platform and to keep on growing with you, buddy.
- 31:53I'm proud of you.
- 31:54Thank you, dude.
- 31:54I appreciate you.
- 31:55And we'll keep in touch with getting my podcast put together because I've been thinking about
- 31:59that for a long time, and you're pushing me in the right direction.
- 32:01Thank you.
- 32:01Good.
- 32:02Good.
- 32:02Well, since you got the guy with the cameras now, let's connect after this show next week,
- 32:07and I'll let's start putting some stuff together.
- 32:10Mhmm.
- 32:10Thank you very much, man.
- 32:12Have a good one.
