- 1:10Speaker 1: The Upshaw starting starring Mike Epps, Kim Fields and one
- 1:14Speaker 1: of the sexist back on Netflix. Are you guys going
- 1:16Speaker 1: to watch that? Yes, I don't have time to watch
- 1:18Speaker 1: TV like that, but I will. You know, my kids
- 1:20Speaker 1: do watch it, and I pay for the Netflix, so
- 1:22Speaker 1: I feel like i'm supporting. Do you share your passwords?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, I've like twenty five TVs in
- 1:27Speaker 1: my house, all of my TV TV get into that second.
- 1:32Speaker 1: He has a very big house. It's not I'm not
- 1:33Speaker 1: even saying it like that. I'm just saying I have,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Like I think I grew up on TV. Everything I
- 1:38Speaker 1: learned was from TV or music, So you know, I
- 1:40Speaker 1: want my kids have access. So yeah, my kids watch
- 1:42Speaker 1: it all day, so I pay for the Netflix, So
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'm supporting. Okay, salute salute Bernard Boyd, Thams and Rema
- 1:48Speaker 1: bringing Afrobeats to the two thousand three NBA All Star
- 1:51Speaker 1: Game half show. Can we get some snatch for that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever seen an Afro beat halftime show.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I've never seen that Afro halftime show that's coming to
- 1:59Speaker 1: the NBA All Star But I don't love how popular
- 2:01Speaker 1: their music is. Becoming black is in style, Brothers, you
- 2:04Speaker 1: gotta pay attention. Not only is it black, is African Africa.
- 2:07Speaker 1: This is super fire, especially Burnt Let's get it. I
- 2:09Speaker 1: love his new stuff. Are you guys gonna watch the
- 2:12Speaker 1: NBA All Star Game? They always watching NBA All Star
- 2:14Speaker 1: I like how the afros a little bit more Afro
- 2:16Speaker 1: centric the NBA is than the NFL. Well, the NBA
- 2:21Speaker 1: they understand their fan base. NFL they understand their fan base.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So you know what I mean. Well, you know, the
- 2:28Speaker 1: NF the NBA has been dominated by black people, so
- 2:32Speaker 1: they understand their fan base. And not only that, if
- 2:35Speaker 1: you look at it, the NBA players, you know, you
- 2:37Speaker 1: can see their face on the court, right, you can
- 2:39Speaker 1: see them. NFL players everybody got on helmets, so they're
- 2:42Speaker 1: cheering for the helmet. They're not cheering for the faces.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You know. In the most important position in the NFL
- 2:48Speaker 1: is quarterback, and you know most of them are. And
- 2:51Speaker 1: for the first time ever, we finally had to black
- 2:53Speaker 1: African American players playing. Well, you know, I think I
- 2:58Speaker 1: think we should get Michael Vick Moore pro. You know
- 3:00Speaker 1: a lot of these guys are old enough, these guys
- 3:02Speaker 1: at the age where they was like kids seeing Michael
- 3:04Speaker 1: Vick run the ball. And now, if you pay attention
- 3:07Speaker 1: to the to the way it works. They're old now,
- 3:09Speaker 1: so now they're like man, they was seven, eight, nine,
- 3:11Speaker 1: ten years old and Vic was running. So now these
- 3:14Speaker 1: guys figured out I could be a quarterback. So we
- 3:16Speaker 1: have that, we have that thing happening now. So I'm excited. Alright,
- 3:19Speaker 1: if you gotta see Rihanna and right, y'all see how
- 3:22Speaker 1: Asap was like holding them. It was hard. That was artistic. Man,
- 3:25Speaker 1: that was dope. Stop. No, you didn't like it, right,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I think that. I think that now. Wait, so you
- 3:33Speaker 1: did not like it and said I didn't like it.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Anytime I see black people being celebrated, I love it.
- 3:38Speaker 1: But you can tell when there's an agenda being pushed
- 3:42Speaker 1: on us, you know, and the guy is being he's
- 3:46Speaker 1: following the woman, and the woman is leading the family
- 3:49Speaker 1: and the guys holding the baby in his hand. The
- 3:51Speaker 1: man should always be the leader of the family because
- 3:53Speaker 1: he's the person that protects people, so he should be
- 3:55Speaker 1: in the front because that's what his job is, to
- 3:57Speaker 1: protect his family. But you know, that's a whole nother story.
- 4:00Speaker 1: So you didn't you didn't like where he security. You
- 4:08Speaker 1: were not an agreeiance with the positioning of the I'm
- 4:11Speaker 1: not gonna say I'm not in agreeance. I'm gonna say
- 4:13Speaker 1: that I think that there's a slight agenda being pushed
- 4:17Speaker 1: and I think that that fits the narrative. And you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: if that was my family, I would have been in
- 4:23Speaker 1: the front. I don't mind holding the baby, but I
- 4:25Speaker 1: feel like the man should always be in the front
- 4:26Speaker 1: leading because that's the man's job is to protect and
- 4:29Speaker 1: lead his family. Don't you feel that way. I do
- 4:33Speaker 1: feel that way. However, in that specific look, if it's
- 4:36Speaker 1: a Rihanna, it's a Rihanna thing, and maybe she included me,
- 4:38Speaker 1: then I'm gonna fall and I'm gonna guarantee her thing.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Guarantee you if they said, if astap said this, how
- 4:45Speaker 1: it goes, they were sure whatever they had to go.
- 4:48Speaker 1: They is it a vote covert? When the last time
- 4:52Speaker 1: every featured on that, When the last time anybody had
- 4:55Speaker 1: cared m who's on the last one's vote? Do you
- 4:56Speaker 1: know that anybody? Okay, we a little MoU before that.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It's just it's just heightened right now because she just
- 5:01Speaker 1: did Super Bowl, so all these promotions are coming out.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I love it like I
- 5:05Speaker 1: love Rihanna, like dog, I've made a lot of money
- 5:08Speaker 1: with rock Nation. I'm not it's not that, but I'm
- 5:10Speaker 1: saying I just you know, it's like when you see
- 5:12Speaker 1: commercials and you're like, damn that see agenda? Now you
- 5:14Speaker 1: could just tell and you see commercial and you see
- 5:16Speaker 1: the kind of couples they pushing in front of us, like, Okay,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I see agenda. I can acknowledge the agenda. I might
- 5:21Speaker 1: not like it, but I gotta respect it, especially one
- 5:24Speaker 1: as my people. So are you a big sports causer?
- 5:27Speaker 1: Big sports? They got know just so much about sports music.
- 5:30Speaker 1: It is time for players ball. I'm a foul up.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Kevin Love to get bought out? Kevin Love from the
- 5:37Speaker 1: Cleveland Capitalers get bought out, Yes, even though he was
- 5:41Speaker 1: still playing. I didn't either. You dumped on them last season.
- 5:46Speaker 1: This season that bro, you're coming off the bench after
- 5:49Speaker 1: you don't want he won his chip in sixteen coming
- 5:53Speaker 1: off no bench. Damn. That's the first Kevin Love headline
- 5:56Speaker 1: I've seen all year, Isn't it? Isn't that the different
- 6:00Speaker 1: like they're not they're not relevant. Cleveland is really good
- 6:02Speaker 1: this year. Yes, but they got some young guys on that.
- 6:03Speaker 1: That's my point. But it's like, Bro, you you're the
- 6:06Speaker 1: old g and you played with Lebron. Bro, you're supposed
- 6:08Speaker 1: to be be coming off the bench. No, he's getting old.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Everyone does not have Lebron James longevity. All Right, We
- 6:14Speaker 1: then retire because, like Ray said, we ain't heard about
- 6:17Speaker 1: Kevin Love since he got dunked on and we ain't
- 6:20Speaker 1: inside that. But he said that, But I would just
- 6:22Speaker 1: say I've heard about Kevin Love this season. Alright. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: didn't say that, but I want you let's get you
- 6:27Speaker 1: guys here about Michael Jordan makes making a massive donation
- 6:30Speaker 1: on the sixtie birthday, which is February seventeenth day after
- 6:33Speaker 1: my uh thoting ten million dollars to make a Wish Foundation,
- 6:37Speaker 1: the largest from an individual in their forty three year history.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think it should be Louder Way louder. I think
- 6:43Speaker 1: they all. I think they try to allow Jordan as
- 6:45Speaker 1: a villain out here, like he doesn't gave. You make
- 6:47Speaker 1: Jordan's seem like he's a villain. And I've heard a
- 6:50Speaker 1: lot of villain stories about Jordan's soul. I think Jordan
- 6:53Speaker 1: made itself to be the villain. No, Jordan's said, I
- 6:56Speaker 1: don't want to be a role model at that. He don't.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I don't think he said that. He said, Barkley said
- 7:03Speaker 1: it that I'm not kind of any kind of agreed
- 7:05Speaker 1: join Jordan's kind of you know Jordan, he don't, he don't.
- 7:09Speaker 1: He don't get into politics or anything politics. And the
- 7:12Speaker 1: funniest stories when when Chamillionaire of talking about that story
- 7:16Speaker 1: where he bought Michael Jordan's and he seen him and
- 7:23Speaker 1: he said, oh man, you know, you know get uh.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I think he asked for a picture Michael Jordan, I
- 7:28Speaker 1: will take pictures with niggas and he turned around, Hey,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I don't think Lebron would ever do that. Shut up man.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Tom Brady reportedly has a plan to win back his
- 7:41Speaker 1: wife just said he was supposed to start a Fox
- 7:44Speaker 1: Sports job this year. However, he would rather begin in
- 7:47Speaker 1: two thousand twenty four as he hopes to get some downtime.
- 7:50Speaker 1: What do you guys think about that? I said, Tom,
- 7:52Speaker 1: get you go get your family back, or maybe maybe
- 7:55Speaker 1: Tom want to be a thought for the rest of
- 7:56Speaker 1: the year. What are you talking about. I think any
- 7:59Speaker 1: time a man wants his family back, I'm all about
- 8:01Speaker 1: family and family structures. So go get your family back.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I support that completely. I don't have no I mean,
- 8:07Speaker 1: you know, you could kind of tell what happened. He
- 8:09Speaker 1: probably didn't want She probably was, you know, unretired. Lad,
- 8:15Speaker 1: that's when the divorce happened. Yeah, so obviously they definitely
- 8:18Speaker 1: probably had that conversation like you go do this then
- 8:21Speaker 1: and she got probably and then I hear that she's
- 8:22Speaker 1: worth more than him, so she has you know, she's
- 8:24Speaker 1: a big deal. We have. When we had an episode
- 8:25Speaker 1: about that, Chapelle say he said jay Z got fuck
- 8:29Speaker 1: you money, but Beyonce got fuck you two money, so
- 8:32Speaker 1: to money. So yeah, let's take a quick commercial break.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We got Ray Daniels in the bid and we're gonna
- 8:36Speaker 1: pick his brain talk to him when we get back
- 8:38Speaker 1: right here with the Ball Show. We'll be right back
- 8:40Speaker 1: with more of the Baller Alert Show. You're listening to
- 8:50Speaker 1: a special edition of The Pallor Alert Show. What if Everybody?
- 8:53Speaker 1: This is Ray Daniels and I'm kicking it with my
- 8:55Speaker 1: good friends at the ball Alert Show. And we were
- 8:58Speaker 1: back with the ball Alert Show podcast available everywhere you
- 9:00Speaker 1: get your podcast. Ray Dames is in the building. Can
- 9:03Speaker 1: we get some snaps from my guys, Big, big, big,
- 9:06Speaker 1: big deal that you're here, sir, I don't know about that.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I love I love when you Bradley Stike. You please now,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I got a quick story those me. Maybe I don't
- 9:14Speaker 1: even know if you remember this. I met you. I
- 9:18Speaker 1: was I had just graduating college maybe a year, and
- 9:21Speaker 1: I was throwing parties. I didn't want to get a
- 9:23Speaker 1: day job, like, man, I'm just throw some parties. Charge
- 9:25Speaker 1: people at the door to the dug me Dave Mato,
- 9:28Speaker 1: my Hatto and um My Dog cooked, and you brought
- 9:31Speaker 1: rock City. You Bitty Barnes brought Rock City to Tampa,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and um I was hosting d J was djan And
- 9:39Speaker 1: that's the first time I met you. And then when
- 9:41Speaker 1: I saw you guys, I was like, man, I gotta
- 9:43Speaker 1: move to Atlanta. I moved to Atlanta and I will
- 9:45Speaker 1: slip your intern for what maybe ten months, I didn't
- 9:48Speaker 1: even know that. I didn't know either. Yeah, yeah, I
- 9:54Speaker 1: was doing Street Team and all types of ship and
- 9:57Speaker 1: then um we started linking. And then I've known you.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I always liked you. You and Dave like to my
- 10:02Speaker 1: favorite people that I've met period, Like in the game,
- 10:05Speaker 1: you've actually saw me come from zero. Yeah, and I's
- 10:10Speaker 1: and I'm and I'm and when you hit me, I
- 10:12Speaker 1: was like, you were working in Scope at the time. Correct,
- 10:16Speaker 1: he was signed the inter Scope. I think I was
- 10:17Speaker 1: working for Motown at that time. Town. Yeah. Please bragging
- 10:21Speaker 1: yourself a little bit. I don't know, to be honest
- 10:23Speaker 1: with you, I don't know how to brag on myself. Okay, well, okay,
- 10:25Speaker 1: how to raise days? Get a start? Um? Somebody asked
- 10:28Speaker 1: me to help them that I went to high school with, uh,
- 10:30Speaker 1: a young musician. Yeah, he was an artist, artist, producer, writer.
- 10:35Speaker 1: He wanted me to help him. So, uh, he said
- 10:37Speaker 1: to me, since we were in seventh grade, I always
- 10:39Speaker 1: talked and people listening. So I was working a regular
- 10:42Speaker 1: nine of five. I was trying to figure my life out.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So when he asked me to help him, I was like,
- 10:45Speaker 1: maybe this is a guy want me to do. And
- 10:46Speaker 1: I jumped in head first. Um, and that guy didn't
- 10:49Speaker 1: make it and I'm here, So that was what God
- 10:52Speaker 1: wanted me to do. You just you, just you, you
- 10:55Speaker 1: just not even give me some more. So well you know,
- 10:57Speaker 1: because okay, so let me tell what it is. Let's
- 10:59Speaker 1: sell what is so let me get an example. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: feel like we all at this table of dreamers right,
- 11:03Speaker 1: And I think we all are like, I don't think
- 11:05Speaker 1: our parents understand what we're doing. You know what I'm saying,
- 11:09Speaker 1: streamers right, Okay? So you know, for me, we all
- 11:12Speaker 1: we all are here because we had a dream. And
- 11:16Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure all of us have met someone that
- 11:18Speaker 1: we looked up to and got in the room with
- 11:20Speaker 1: him and was like, how the fund did they get? Right?
- 11:23Speaker 1: So my thing is, I think a lot of us
- 11:24Speaker 1: brag on what we do when we should open our
- 11:27Speaker 1: mouth and when you're hear us talk, you can know
- 11:28Speaker 1: what we do. So I don't really know how to
- 11:30Speaker 1: brag on what I do. I just talk about what
- 11:32Speaker 1: I do. And I think people tend to figure out
- 11:34Speaker 1: like rock City, this nigga know his ship rock City? Yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and then who's next? Uh, Well, I built city. I
- 11:40Speaker 1: built rock City. I worked at in Epic and I
- 11:44Speaker 1: worked with Sierra. What was your job? And UM shout
- 11:48Speaker 1: out to l A read love that guy. UM left
- 11:51Speaker 1: Epic to go to in the Scope? Was that in
- 11:53Speaker 1: the Scope? And then when was your job at in
- 11:54Speaker 1: the Scope? Vice Presidency? And UM left in the Scope
- 11:57Speaker 1: because I quit in the Scope because I felt like
- 11:59Speaker 1: they were I just didn't like the way. It felt
- 12:02Speaker 1: like collecting the check and not being able to do anything,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and I feel like being you know us all being here.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I didn't. My dream wasn't to make money. You know,
- 12:10Speaker 1: money is a by product of being successful. My dream
- 12:12Speaker 1: was to be someone, and I just felt like they
- 12:15Speaker 1: were paying me to be someone that I didn't want
- 12:17Speaker 1: to be. So I quit. Uh. Then I went in
- 12:19Speaker 1: to work at Warner Uh. And you know, I did
- 12:22Speaker 1: pretty good there. I made him a lot of money.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I did you know? I did Sweeties best Friend record?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Did Sweeties tap in? Sign Eneli Choppola signed rmble Uh? Yeah,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I put. I put all of you married him a
- 12:33Speaker 1: lot of money on the board. But then, you know,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you start realizing as you work at these companies that
- 12:38Speaker 1: they want your influence, they just don't want your voice.
- 12:41Speaker 1: So I decided to just I started a new company
- 12:44Speaker 1: called l y I, which stands for Leverage your Influence.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And I decided to bet on myself. And here I
- 12:50Speaker 1: am simple as that. You still manage one of the
- 12:52Speaker 1: biggest songwriters in the country. One Record of the Year
- 12:54Speaker 1: at the Grammys with Lizzo's About Damn Time and you
- 12:57Speaker 1: can't wait to put the plaque up for that one.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Uh a lot man, we got, I mean connotes a
- 13:01Speaker 1: lot of those biggest record, big energy. Um Man, it's
- 13:05Speaker 1: so crazy because I don't really know how to watch
- 13:07Speaker 1: my work. I just do the work. And for me,
- 13:09Speaker 1: it's like when you. I feel like most of us
- 13:11Speaker 1: lose because we're so busy watching I work, waiting for
- 13:14Speaker 1: a celebration that happened, and I don't live by that creed.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I live by this. I'm the same You know this.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You've been my friend for over fifteen years. I'm the
- 13:21Speaker 1: same person I was from the minute I came in.
- 13:24Speaker 1: The minute that I changed that thought process is the
- 13:26Speaker 1: minute that I lose it all the minute that I
- 13:28Speaker 1: walked like I mean no, every day I wake up
- 13:31Speaker 1: willing to earn my keep. Every day I wake up
- 13:33Speaker 1: willing to do the work. And good ship happened for me.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Live ba. My mom ain't worked in ten years, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: I ain't won't never work, damn never mansion. Yeah, my
- 13:47Speaker 1: mom living the mansion, driving a nice range of but
- 13:49Speaker 1: everything paid off. My mom ain't gonna never work a
- 13:51Speaker 1: day in the life. And that's because of what we've
- 13:53Speaker 1: done in the music business. So I honor that process.
- 13:56Speaker 1: How do you feel about when artists have of shoes
- 14:00Speaker 1: when they're talking about their contracts being signed to a label.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I talked about this a lot. I think that I
- 14:06Speaker 1: think you gotta take the good with the good, the
- 14:07Speaker 1: battle with the battle with anything in life. I think
- 14:09Speaker 1: that Lebron James we just talked about, I think Lebron
- 14:12Speaker 1: James is underpaid and he makes more money than probably
- 14:15Speaker 1: everybody on his team right. So for me, it's just
- 14:18Speaker 1: the way of the world. You gotta if you're an artist,
- 14:20Speaker 1: you knew what you were signed, and you took the check.
- 14:23Speaker 1: You knew that you knew how much was in it
- 14:24Speaker 1: for you. I see a lot of artists. It's so
- 14:26Speaker 1: crazy because when I try to do deals an artists,
- 14:28Speaker 1: I'm always the first question every artist asking for saying
- 14:30Speaker 1: how much money? I'm like, why does that matter? Let
- 14:32Speaker 1: me tell you why. Because my first year in the
- 14:35Speaker 1: music business, I mean my first year, oh five, I
- 14:38Speaker 1: made like seventy eighty tho dollars That money was going
- 14:41Speaker 1: by the end of the year. So that means I
- 14:42Speaker 1: gotta make more money oh six, oh seven, oh eight,
- 14:45Speaker 1: And here we are in two thousand twenty three. I'm
- 14:46Speaker 1: still making more money. And the reason why it's because
- 14:49Speaker 1: I honored my word and honor the process, rather than saying, damn,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I should be making more. Damn, I should be this.
- 14:54Speaker 1: When I did what I did for Warner, I made
- 14:56Speaker 1: him a whole lot of money. I could have stayed
- 14:57Speaker 1: there and been like yo, but no. If the way
- 15:01Speaker 1: guy worked it out, it was different. I could have
- 15:02Speaker 1: went and begged for a job. But I know me
- 15:04Speaker 1: enough to know my damn like. It's like Sean, like
- 15:07Speaker 1: for Ferrari, no Ferrari. Since he was, you know, since
- 15:10Speaker 1: I was, I have named my phone Sean. There is
- 15:14Speaker 1: a thing. Whether he worked at Streets, whether he worked
- 15:18Speaker 1: at V, whether he works at ball Alert, wherever he is,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I still see Sean. And he called me I'm coming.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I don't get so you've never told me no come,
- 15:27Speaker 1: and my thing is bt same thing ever y'all ever
- 15:29Speaker 1: called me I'm coming. So the reason why is because
- 15:31Speaker 1: it doesn't matter what brand you work for. It don't
- 15:35Speaker 1: matter you are the brand. And once I figured that out,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I was like, Damn, I could I could be the
- 15:39Speaker 1: guy that represents Warner. I could be the guy that
- 15:41Speaker 1: represents in the scope. I could be the guy that
- 15:43Speaker 1: represents epic. I could be the guy that represents my
- 15:45Speaker 1: fucking self and I'll take the good, the good, the
- 15:48Speaker 1: bad with the bad that come with that. And that's
- 15:49Speaker 1: just where I'm at with it. So my companies called
- 15:52Speaker 1: y because I wanted people to see their influence. I
- 15:54Speaker 1: want people to see themselves, like with all of us
- 15:57Speaker 1: out here chasing money when we should be building value
- 16:00Speaker 1: and leveraging that value for ourselves. So that's so, you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: that's why I'm at with it. Man. So when you're
- 16:05Speaker 1: building value, you can't focus on what you did because
- 16:08Speaker 1: you gotta wake up and build with value tomorrow. Got
- 16:11Speaker 1: to build value the next day. I take the weekends
- 16:13Speaker 1: off when i'm with my kids because I gotta be
- 16:14Speaker 1: normal at some time. But yeah, my only goal is
- 16:16Speaker 1: waking up building value, and that's it. That's what I've
- 16:19Speaker 1: been doing. Speaking of value, what do you think about
- 16:21Speaker 1: everybody selling their publisher? Now, um, that's a good question.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I think it's a so I think it's a good idea.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Uh became a multimillionaire off those deals, so I'm never
- 16:35Speaker 1: gonna say it's a bad deal. But here's a good part.
- 16:38Speaker 1: We sold a piece of we sold part of our
- 16:39Speaker 1: catalog that was from oh seven of two thousand fifteen, right, okay,
- 16:43Speaker 1: we sold that, But Nigga two thousand fifteen to two
- 16:47Speaker 1: thousand twenty, we did more records, more hits, Lizzo, Sierra,
- 16:51Speaker 1: every DOJ cat got out of that deal. Now we're
- 16:54Speaker 1: in a new deal and we got hits with Lizzo,
- 16:57Speaker 1: Cardi everybody. I'm a worker. I don't you know how
- 17:00Speaker 1: to look at it? And I look at it. I
- 17:02Speaker 1: have a theory and it's gonna sound disgusting to you,
- 17:04Speaker 1: but this is how I just want to be honest.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I'll tell me. I wanted to tell me your name, Octavia.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Nice thing. If somebody came to Octavia said I want
- 17:14Speaker 1: to buy a couple of your piss, you would sell
- 17:15Speaker 1: it right get like, where is this going? No, you wouldn't.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I don't know, Tavia. Somebody came here and said me
- 17:24Speaker 1: get a thousand US for your piss, You're not gonna
- 17:26Speaker 1: say what are you gonna do with it? Like what
- 17:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna use the restroom right now? I'm actually gonna
- 17:30Speaker 1: do that. Okay, So I'm not gonna just sell my
- 17:33Speaker 1: whatever like that's DNA you flush it down the toilet,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but you flush it every day. So my thing is this,
- 17:39Speaker 1: So I couldn't work with you then because you don't
- 17:40Speaker 1: see the world why I do it. What I see
- 17:42Speaker 1: it is is you're gonna piss them all. I'm gonna
- 17:44Speaker 1: piss four or five times a day. So somebody wanna
- 17:46Speaker 1: buy a couple of piss. I'm a pist today. I'm
- 17:47Speaker 1: a piston. Momna keepiss. I'm never gonna stop as long
- 17:49Speaker 1: as I'm alive, I'm gonna use the restroom. So if
- 17:51Speaker 1: you want to buy it, I'm gonna sell it. So
- 17:52Speaker 1: as long as you're going, you're fine. Now. If you're
- 17:55Speaker 1: gonna stop, then that's different. Now it's like, man, I
- 17:59Speaker 1: don't know again, I'm gonna sell it. Okay, cool, that's
- 18:02Speaker 1: what it's worth something. But as long as you're gonna
- 18:03Speaker 1: pis tomorrow, then who cares. So for me, it's like
- 18:06Speaker 1: sell your catalog for two reasons, either because you continue
- 18:09Speaker 1: to go or you decided you want to stop. And
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's that simple, you know it's But if you're doing
- 18:16Speaker 1: it to make a check, that shouldn't be gone tomorrow
- 18:19Speaker 1: because money goes fast. Um, can you talk about your podcast?
- 18:24Speaker 1: You started the podcast. Yeah, I don't like your podcast.
- 18:27Speaker 1: You be talking that I didn't even know I started.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I didn't even know I started the podcast. Just start first,
- 18:30Speaker 1: you you first star, just started talking on Instagram. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: that's what I really did. Then then it came came
- 18:35Speaker 1: into it because first it was tweets. It twee tweets,
- 18:38Speaker 1: and it was tweets because the video. It was tweets
- 18:40Speaker 1: because I worked that Warner and when you worked for
- 18:43Speaker 1: major label, your voice has to be silenced. So like say,
- 18:47Speaker 1: if I worked at a major company, how I have
- 18:50Speaker 1: to ask the permission to do this show? If I
- 18:52Speaker 1: was an A and R marketing guy, whatever, I gotta
- 18:54Speaker 1: ask the permission. Yeah, yeah, asked the permission. You gotta,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and now only guys permission. They want to know what
- 19:00Speaker 1: are you gonna be talking about? What's going on? Because
- 19:02Speaker 1: what happens if I say something dumb up here, They're
- 19:04Speaker 1: not gonna say Ray Daniel said it. They're gonna say
- 19:06Speaker 1: Ray Daniels of and it's got records said something that
- 19:11Speaker 1: I respect it. But so I was tweeting because I
- 19:14Speaker 1: couldn't use my voice. And then as soon as I
- 19:17Speaker 1: left Warner, I started putting out videos, and I didn't
- 19:20Speaker 1: want to go ask for another job. I didn't want
- 19:23Speaker 1: to go ask for another job. I just felt like
- 19:25Speaker 1: I was bigger than that, and maybe that's me being arrogant.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And I was like, man, put the camera in front
- 19:29Speaker 1: of my face and asked me a question once a day.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So I would do that, and then all of a sudden,
- 19:32Speaker 1: people everywhere I would go, people be like, no, could
- 19:34Speaker 1: gradual on the podcast always? But then you made it
- 19:39Speaker 1: and it's called people calling me to do I thought
- 19:43Speaker 1: that was a podcast. I didn't start a podcast. I
- 19:46Speaker 1: just started podcast. What I was like, I was like, oh,
- 19:48Speaker 1: he's in clue. And then even then this is and
- 19:51Speaker 1: this is I always this. This podcast is an experiment,
- 19:54Speaker 1: by the way, for artists. What's the name of it,
- 19:57Speaker 1: god show It stands for goats and underdogs. But this
- 20:00Speaker 1: podcast was it was an experiment. The Jamain the Jermaine
- 20:04Speaker 1: Dupre clip was the one that took it over the
- 20:06Speaker 1: top too, because you you had started, you had started
- 20:08Speaker 1: some some like you know that's what that's what actually
- 20:14Speaker 1: puffed is the first person that put it on. But
- 20:16Speaker 1: there's the person that really set the podcast off because
- 20:19Speaker 1: he posted one of my videos setting me out, and
- 20:21Speaker 1: then he deleted everything off his page and it was
- 20:23Speaker 1: just my video time for like four days. And that
- 20:27Speaker 1: was when everything changed for me. Um, you know, because
- 20:30Speaker 1: even though I know my peers were probably frowning upon it,
- 20:32Speaker 1: saying what you're gonna do anytime you're doing some different
- 20:34Speaker 1: people that know you're gonna be like, what the hell
- 20:36Speaker 1: are you doing? But I just had I was just like, man,
- 20:38Speaker 1: like I said, it was a really it was really
- 20:40Speaker 1: a social experiment and I didn't have And the reason
- 20:43Speaker 1: why I didn't have guests was because I have so
- 20:45Speaker 1: many theories in business, but I feel like most people
- 20:48Speaker 1: want to tell people what they're doing, and I want
- 20:50Speaker 1: to tell people what I did. So for me, it
- 20:52Speaker 1: was like, how can I come to somebody say hey,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I'm starting a podcast. I already know what your response
- 20:56Speaker 1: is gonna be in your head? Is you Everybody's doing that?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Every doing everyone's doing it. So I remember calling a
- 21:02Speaker 1: friend of mine, like real close friend of mine. I
- 21:04Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I think I started a podcast. It's
- 21:06Speaker 1: like two years ago. He was like, I do the
- 21:08Speaker 1: interview later, and I mean it's one of my close friends.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I was like, damn, I couldn't get mad at him
- 21:12Speaker 1: because I'm like, I'm just like everybody else. So I'm like,
- 21:15Speaker 1: just put a camera in front of me and let's
- 21:16Speaker 1: talk about all the equipment. And then all of a
- 21:18Speaker 1: sudden it turned into something and now it's I don't
- 21:21Speaker 1: even call it a podcast. I don't believe in the
- 21:22Speaker 1: word pot it's a show. That's why it's called the show.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Famous here, Like when you call it a podcast, I
- 21:30Speaker 1: think you put yourself in the box. For me, I
- 21:33Speaker 1: feel like this ship is TV. This is premium content
- 21:36Speaker 1: with premium My kids don't know the difference between HBO
- 21:39Speaker 1: and YouTube. That's the fact. That's difference. My thing is
- 21:44Speaker 1: that the only difference is is that you know, they
- 21:46Speaker 1: want to established yourself as premium content and one establish
- 21:49Speaker 1: yourself as pre content with ads. But the fans don't care.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So for me, it was like I'm just gonna call
- 21:53Speaker 1: it the show and whatever comes when it comes with it.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I still haven't made a dollar from it, by the way,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and because I didn't enjoying it, didn't know what I
- 22:00Speaker 1: was doing. And that's another thing, like something for money,
- 22:05Speaker 1: you're gonna always look for the money after everything you
- 22:07Speaker 1: do and if you do something because you love it,
- 22:09Speaker 1: then you just love the process of it. So for me,
- 22:12Speaker 1: the fun part has been I remember one of you know.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Another thing that I think we all under estimate is
- 22:17Speaker 1: the power of our phones. I think, like, it's so
- 22:21Speaker 1: weird to me how many people are chasing things when
- 22:23Speaker 1: you have a phone in your hand. And if you
- 22:26Speaker 1: have a thousand people, a thousand people can fill up
- 22:29Speaker 1: center stage. You know. I looked at so I looked
- 22:32Speaker 1: at social media differently. That's why I said this was
- 22:34Speaker 1: a social experiment. My first time going outside after I
- 22:37Speaker 1: put the show out was that revoked. I couldn't take
- 22:40Speaker 1: three fucking steps. Everywhere I went, it was how about this?
- 22:43Speaker 1: I didn't even have a ticket. I was trying to
- 22:45Speaker 1: go get my ticket, and when I came up to
- 22:47Speaker 1: the front door, they was like Ray, Ray, and everybody
- 22:50Speaker 1: put him in. Where's your panel? And I'm like, I don't.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I had so I had a pass, but I had
- 23:00Speaker 1: to go pick it up. So I'm walking to the
- 23:02Speaker 1: front of this long line to ask where's will call?
- 23:06Speaker 1: So as I walked to the front, I didn't even
- 23:08Speaker 1: know what The girl watched. She said, Ray, let him in,
- 23:10Speaker 1: who's with you let him and I got walked in
- 23:11Speaker 1: and I couldn't take three steps every like puff, people
- 23:14Speaker 1: will talcome to me like I love you, and I
- 23:15Speaker 1: was like, damn, this ship is kind of working, like
- 23:18Speaker 1: I gotta So for me, it's the exciting part has
- 23:21Speaker 1: been the social experiment because I feel like so many
- 23:23Speaker 1: people are victims and I'll never allow myself to be
- 23:27Speaker 1: a victim. I'm a victory. So the only way to
- 23:29Speaker 1: be a victory is to get off your ass and try.
- 23:31Speaker 1: And you can laugh at me behind my back. I
- 23:33Speaker 1: don't give a funk, But when it works, you're gonna
- 23:35Speaker 1: be like, I do it because that's what people do.
- 23:37Speaker 1: But I mean always, that's what people do, so you
- 23:39Speaker 1: gotta want you just understand people. It's like, bro, just
- 23:42Speaker 1: that's what when you call me him like nigga, what
- 23:43Speaker 1: you need, I'm there. What you're doing, keep doing it,
- 23:45Speaker 1: because as long as you don't stop doing it, you're fine.
- 23:49Speaker 1: When you stop and wait for the applause, when you
- 23:51Speaker 1: hold your hand up and be like, look around, oh
- 23:53Speaker 1: you lost. I don't give a funk who's watching. I
- 23:55Speaker 1: don't give a funk who's not watching. I'm gonna get
- 23:57Speaker 1: up every day, and I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do,
- 24:00Speaker 1: and I'm gonna either benefit from it or I'm gonna
- 24:02Speaker 1: learn from it, but I'm always gonna win. Alright, Cool,
- 24:04Speaker 1: appreciate you. Ray. Let's go to commercial. When we come back,
- 24:07Speaker 1: it's time for Baller Man. Oh my god, Chris Parks
- 24:11Speaker 1: got something to say. We'll be right back with more
- 24:14Speaker 1: of the Baller Alert show message Dear ball Alert, My
- 24:27Speaker 1: man took a bribe and I do not know what
- 24:29Speaker 1: to do. So last week I overheard my man talking
- 24:32Speaker 1: to somebody about taking a bribe for him making sure
- 24:35Speaker 1: their sons started in the high school basketball game. Now
- 24:38Speaker 1: high school high school basketball season is is well over,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and I approached my man about the conversation I overheard
- 24:44Speaker 1: because I did not like that. He assured me that
- 24:47Speaker 1: it wasn't a big deal and not to ever ever
- 24:49Speaker 1: worry about it. But being the guy, fearing person that
- 24:52Speaker 1: I am, I can't stop thinking about how bad this
- 24:54Speaker 1: is and I want to say something, but I do
- 24:57Speaker 1: not know what to do. Should I leave this alone
- 24:59Speaker 1: or that I do something, Do some more digging and
- 25:02Speaker 1: find out exactly what happened and deal and handle with
- 25:05Speaker 1: this situation need you all opinions on this. Thank you.
- 25:08Speaker 1: By the way, I love the show. Is her husband
- 25:11Speaker 1: the coach? All I know is she said, my man
- 25:13Speaker 1: took a bride, so he took some money. I overheard
- 25:16Speaker 1: my man talking about somebody taking money for him making
- 25:19Speaker 1: sure their sons started in a high school basketball game.
- 25:22Speaker 1: So he is the coach. Sounds like it. And if
- 25:25Speaker 1: he's taking money to start kids at a basketball game,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you should be concerned because I'm gonna tell you what happened.
- 25:32Speaker 1: He take that money and them kids don't start. She
- 25:35Speaker 1: needs to grow up sometimes and listen. Let me tell
- 25:38Speaker 1: you something. If Sean is running a radio station and
- 25:41Speaker 1: I call him and say, give my son an opportunity,
- 25:44Speaker 1: it feels like a bride, but he's gonna probably do
- 25:46Speaker 1: it because I have favor with him. Use to use it. You.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Nepotism is good. If a father or mother could help
- 25:52Speaker 1: their kids get on, then get the funk on, Like,
- 25:54Speaker 1: why are you worried about that? Grow up? Don't worry
- 25:57Speaker 1: about that to me? It's like to me, it's like
- 25:59Speaker 1: worry about if so many the things you need to
- 26:01Speaker 1: be worried about, why you worn't about a damn game?
- 26:03Speaker 1: It's a game that father just leading with ego, trying
- 26:06Speaker 1: to get his kid on the game. Who cares? Who?
- 26:08Speaker 1: Why do you care? If defend? Now, what you should
- 26:11Speaker 1: care about is if he took the money and spent
- 26:13Speaker 1: it on another broad Now that's when he's doing. But
- 26:16Speaker 1: if he took the money and spenting on you, then
- 26:18Speaker 1: you won. And to me, I feel like like the
- 26:21Speaker 1: one thing I learned is that, you know, one of
- 26:22Speaker 1: the biggest lesson to learn in life was cheat to win,
- 26:25Speaker 1: cheat the wind, cheat the wind. Yeah, I'm only concerned
- 26:30Speaker 1: about you found out and now your conscious is fucked up. Uh,
- 26:34Speaker 1: I am a little concerned. I am concerned. I don't
- 26:36Speaker 1: know what to tell you that too. You're in the
- 26:39Speaker 1: conundrum in my tip voice, Um, I don't know what
- 26:42Speaker 1: tell you do, sweetheart, it looks like you want to leave.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Look like you want to snitch and leave your man.
- 26:47Speaker 1: So if that's what you want to do, go ahead.
- 26:50Speaker 1: But you look like you what you need to do?
- 26:52Speaker 1: You got damn Yeah, you got money your business man.
- 26:56Speaker 1: When that when I'm scared for you, I'll tell you
- 26:57Speaker 1: that you're you know, I just hope the kids to start. Man.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Whoever he took the money for you didn't hear it?
- 27:04Speaker 1: And you know that's what I'm saying. Roll up what
- 27:07Speaker 1: you think? I think it's time to get out of here.
- 27:12Speaker 1: What's up with my dog? Core? Sparse? Come over here, sir?
- 27:14Speaker 1: Uh you you come on over here by me, sir.
- 27:17Speaker 1: So you know, Ferrari's a good friend of min. I'm
- 27:20Speaker 1: knowing him since he got to Atlanta. I've been here
- 27:23Speaker 1: for about almost eleven years, um vice president promotion. That
- 27:27Speaker 1: Warner Record has been there for roughly five months. Came
- 27:30Speaker 1: up from Epic. I was there for eleven years. I
- 27:32Speaker 1: was a vice president. We worked together over there. We
- 27:34Speaker 1: sure did me. I met Ray when he was managing
- 27:37Speaker 1: Noah when I was hanging postal boards back in early
- 27:41Speaker 1: two thousand. Yeah, exactly. So I just want to say that, um,
- 27:45Speaker 1: Ferrad got a job. I just have far our national
- 27:48Speaker 1: director of Lifestyle, and Mike Show want the records to
- 27:51Speaker 1: charge next week. Yo. I put him through some tests.
- 27:58Speaker 1: He didn't even know he was in for a past
- 28:00Speaker 1: couple of months. So when the position opened, I interviewed
- 28:04Speaker 1: some cats, but I really only had one person really
- 28:07Speaker 1: that was really interesting and he should be Oh Tom
- 28:11Speaker 1: and Tom again. We had those conversations. He's ready. He
- 28:14Speaker 1: wanted to come over to the record side open to
- 28:16Speaker 1: warning my boy, you're you're in the records and I
- 28:23Speaker 1: feel good. Time to you know, keep leveling up, making
- 28:26Speaker 1: my folks proud. You know, Like I said, I wanted
- 28:28Speaker 1: to do it with Ray because Ray saw me like
- 28:32Speaker 1: I had a day job when I met Ray, ye
- 28:35Speaker 1: and and um les apartments at least his apartment, at
- 28:39Speaker 1: least a lot of people in apartments. So like Ray
- 28:41Speaker 1: saw me like, you know what I'm saying, like at
- 28:44Speaker 1: the very beginning of you know what I'm saying my
- 28:46Speaker 1: care Yeah, So you know, I just wanted, you know,
- 28:52Speaker 1: continue making Yeah. Yeah. I love to see when you
- 28:57Speaker 1: guys win. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's why I love to
- 28:59Speaker 1: see Corey winning. Like very birthday, alright, time for me,
- 29:05Speaker 1: get up out of here. Think that was the pep talk.
- 29:07Speaker 1: That was the pep talk. Keep going, kids, Appreciate you all.
