- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hey family, welcome in to a brand new podcast.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: We are your hosts, Trisha and Mickey, and we are faith builders.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: We are here and have come together, not just as great friends, but also as sisters in Christ to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: We want to build faith among believers, and we do that by spreading the love and the word of Jesus Christ through his word, through his grace, and just through the building blocks and the foundation that Jesus has laid before us.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: So welcome in everybody.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: This is a brand new podcast, like I said, and so we're kind of just taking off for the first day.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: So stay with us and bear with us why why we're um working out all of the kinks here.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: But um I'm excited because today is a great, great lesson that we want to share with you because it's very important that we understand that the enemy wants to come, he wants to steal, kill, and destroy.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And how does he do that?
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm gonna we're gonna share that with you today by talking to you about distractions.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Distractions is the focus and the topic topic of our discussion today.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: So welcome in, everybody.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: And I have Trisha here with me, and she's got some great scripture and great information that she's gonna be sharing with you.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So everybody, let's say hi to Trish.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Hi.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: So uh we were talking about just you know getting distracted and not keeping our oil lamps full, right?
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: So um I looked up the word distraction, and it says that it's a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: The the company found passenger travel distracted for a business flight.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: So so you're going on a flight, you're getting ready to go somewhere, and you're distracted, and you miss your flight.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: You know, um, there's diversions, there's um interruptions.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: I like this one definition though, um, it kind of breaks it down from the Latin and it says dis apart and then to hear, which means to drag, so to distract when you're dragged away from your task or your concerns.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: So, how often are we dragged away from reading the Bible, reading our word, going to our Bible studies?
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, so many things, even even at if you're doing something good.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: So I tend to be um, you know, when I first came to Christ, I was more of a Mary.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: I was just at his feet, I was listening to every word.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: I was that was my that was my love, that was my everything.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: And then I started getting involved and I like to serve, and then I've gone through a lot of stuff, right?
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: You know, um grief, uh loss, um, all kinds of things from every direction.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: And I can say I was pressed down on every side, right?
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: So I see that as like uh diamond down into the 975 miles below the ocean floor.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: That was me.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: I was down that far, I was distracted that far.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: But um the thing about that is you know, God has to shake it up, you know, and you pray and you put it into in supplication.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: So there's this story about a lady named Martha, and I would like to kind of read a little bit about her.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Um so I'll just uh read the script, the passage.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: It says, Now it happened as they went and they entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: So she welcomed Jesus.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: So Jesus comes to visit Martha and Mary and Lazarus and the whole house.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: So there was like a dinner, I'm I'm sure.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: There was, you know, think about it.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: If Jesus was gonna come to your house, wouldn't you want him to see your house clean and everything put together?
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Well, that's our spiritual house as well.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: We should have that clean and put together.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: And um, Martha just didn't feel ready enough.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: So she was like, we got to do this, we gotta cook, we gotta make, you know, and I would be the same way, honestly.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: If Jesus was gonna be coming to my church, like in the physical, I would probably want to make sure everything was perfect, right?
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: But what wasn't perfect is how distracted Martha was, because she was so distracted on the perfection of everything, everything had to be just right, you know.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: I'm sure whatever she was cooking had to taste just right, you know, and me, I love to cook.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: So I I can just imagine how she felt.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: Now I like to uh do things at church.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: I like to cook, I like to bring a food, and I love it when people are like, oh, it's so good.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: I love it, you know what I mean?
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: And you're just like, yeah, you know, um it just makes you happy.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: And like I love to serve, and I know Jesus had a so I have a servant heart, which isn't a bad thing when it but when it takes you over, and you're all of a sudden wanting to serve, serve, serve, and then it distracts you from sitting at his feet, and so then um it says here that and he had so and she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard his word, but Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached him and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: Do you not care?
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: So it's like, do you not care?
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: She left me all alone.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: I'm doing this by myself, and if I had her help, I would already be done, and I'd be at your feet too.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: You know, like it's not fair that she's at your feet.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Well, here you go.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: And Jesus um had said to her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things, but one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken from her.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: So, you know, poor Martha.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't know if you ever watched the um oh what was that show back in um Brady's Bunch?
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: And they there was wasn't there a Martha there?
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah and they were like Martha Martha, or you know, anyway.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: I I just think that's funny that they were doing that too.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Oh Martha, Martha, you know, it's like Martha always had trouble, you know.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: I guess in the spirit, sometimes you can call me Martha, but I really prefer to be married.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: And um, in fact, we have a Mary Martha ministry at my church, and you know, you gotta have Mary and you gotta have Martha, you gotta have them both.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: And um anyway, I would like I quit, I don't want to be Martha anymore.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I have to set it set myself aside.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: So um in Psalm 27, 4, it says, one thing I have asked of the Lord um that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and inquire of his temple.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: So this is Psalm 27.4.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: So this is what Mary was doing.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: She was just gazing at the Lord, she was listening to him, she was at his feet, you know, and um I I can I remember that I remember always being at his feet.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: Um, so number one, there was the focus, number two, dwelling in his presence, um, continuing, just continuing to be in his presence, gazing upon him, the beauty of the Lord, in awe and in reverence.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: So it's like a great respect.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: It's like you want to have that relationship, you want to hear him, and um and in John 627, um it's about the bread of heaven.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food that endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal upon him.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: So sure, I can make a meal, I can throw down in the kitchen, but it's not the bread of heaven.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: It's physical food, yeah.
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: We need that, but what we need more is for our eternal soul, you know?
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: And um then there's the um the story of Mary of Bethany, who um she was um see, I don't like computers very much.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: It does that if you're not on it for a while, it kind of freezes up a little bit.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna jump in real quick while you're looking up that scripture, and I just want to share with our listeners that the story of Mary and Martha is in the book of Luke.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: It's Luke 10, 38 through.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: And I I have to say I agree with you on that story before we jump into the to um Mary Bethany, because my whole life I've been a multitasker and felt like such a Martha.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: And I knew something was missing in my life.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: So I loved what you said because you said we do have to have both.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Um, we need to be both Mary and Martha.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there are things that need to be done, but there's sometimes that we need to be sitting at Jesus' feet and just um taking in what he has for us.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we don't do that because we're so busy being distracted and multitasking that we think, oh, if we don't have everything done, Jesus is gonna see us out of order, or our house is gonna be not perfect and or the food's gonna not be great.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: So we want everything to be perfect to give to Jesus, but sometimes what Jesus only wants from us is just our heart, just our time.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And the enemy loves to distract us from that, and the enemy will literally keep you busy, busy, busy, busy all day long and and keep you distracted um with all of the household tasks and all of the things that we need to accomplish.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: So I think that was a really great um um illustration of um being distracted.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: But go ahead with um, we're gonna go into Mary Bethany, right?
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: Um actually I think I should go a little bit more into the distraction.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Um there's one word that particularly gets me is divert, diversions.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: So um, you know, you and me have had a lot of foster kids and even kids of our own.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: And how often is it that our kids will divert from the truth?
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: They will be like, um, you you try to call them out on something, right?
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: And you're like, hey, um, who ate all the cookies, you know, or and you're like, um the kids are like, oh, you know, um, I saw a flower over there.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Did you see, you know, like they try to divert on they don't want to lie, but they want to divert from the truth.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: But then sometimes you will have kids that just straight up make a whole story with a straight face, and some of them are really hard to tell if they're lying, but oh yeah, and they and they've gotten really good at telling us embellishing a story and making this fantasy story, but then you find out when you ask them three or four or five times, the story kind of changes, it's never the same, right?
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: And and the and then you do your little investigation and you find out oh, they straight lied.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: And the reason being is they want your full attention, you know.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: Um, a lot of it is that they don't want to get in trouble, um, and they hold on to the lie like it's their life.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: I had this one young lady who just held on to every lie, and um, when you got her caught, she would get so upset.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Like, how dare you?
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: You know, and I had another kid that he would feel shame when when he lied to you, and then he would get destructive.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: Um, and then some of them are just funny, you know.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: To me, their lies are funny because they just want to, it's not really funny, but they just want your attention and they tell this wild story.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, oh yeah, yep, I saw it happen with my own eyes.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: You know, we were in the cornfield and they were uh throwing corn and I got hit in the head, and you know, like oh, you know, and you're just like, really?
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Were you a part of that?
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: No, nope, I'm innocent, you know, and and you're like, you find out from all the other kids that all the kids were throwing corn in the corn maze at night, you know, and and it's like um it's kind of comical to me, but I had a conversation with him and it was a really deep conversation.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: I really felt like it was from the Lord, and um I told him, I said, you know, I said, Satan is the father of lies, and he's lying to you, he's telling you to do this.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: He's, you know, all these thoughts that are coming in your head, you know, um, are not what God would want you to do.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: He wouldn't want you to, you know, tell the He would want you to tell the truth.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: So when you're saying lie, you're speaking of a character that looks like somebody that you're not.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: So we've got A and B, we've got Jesus and we got the devil, and we have good characters, good moral, light, you know, and then we have darkness.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: And what I feel is when someone holds on to a lie so hard, their character starts to shift, and they start to look like something they're not, they start to look like darkness or just a haughty look, or um pride comes in, jealousy comes in, all kinds of sins come in into this lie, and it becomes an idol.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: And an idol becomes a place of worship, which I'm going to hold on to this lie more than I'm gonna hold on to the hem of his garment, more than I'm going to sit at Jesus' feet.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: You know, I'm gonna hold on to being Mary or Martha and not sit at his feet.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: You know, that's not a lie, but that's that's actually something that you want, you know, it's to be admired or it's to um, you know, just serve and it covers up what you really need, and what you really need is him, you know, and it's okay to be yourself.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: And this is what I told him.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: It's okay to be yourself.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: I love your personality, you're funny, you know, even when you know why you're funny, but you know, like you're just he's a he's a cute, he's so um witty, you know.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: And um I love who he is, I love who you are, and I love how Christ made you, and the best way to have the characteristics of Christ is to read your Bible and ask and become more of the light that he made you to be, right?
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: So anyway, we're working on that one, but like I didn't realize that jealousy was such a thing that it could be such a hard thing.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, I used to be a jealous person.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: Okay, so when me and Tony, my husband were younger, um, any girl that talked to him or looked his way, I was I was gonna take him down, you know.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: Like I think I I even um knocked a girl on the ground once, and um that was taking me over.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: And this this was, you know, it could have cost him his job, it could have, you know what I mean?
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: And um I just bopped her in the shoulder and I just she slipped, you know, and I was like, touch my husband again and see what happens, you know.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: And so um that was the old trish.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: That was before I was a Christian, but now I couldn't imagine doing something like that, you know, even though I felt she was in the wrong by going over there and you know, flirting it up and being a big old flirt and you know, having a few drinks and you know, and my insecurities, that's an that's a distraction.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: I was a very insecure young girl, you know, and now I don't have those insecurities anymore because my security is in Christ.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: Do I need affirmation from the world?
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: No, you know why?
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: Because Jesus affirmed me on the cross.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: Right now, that's another distraction is affirmation.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: Um, there's um physical, tangible distractions.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: There are emotional distractions, there are um trauma distractions, you know, there's things that we habits, hookups, hangups, what do you lions and tigers and bears?
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: Oh my.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: You know, uh people, places, and things, oh my.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: You know, there's there's I used to get um anxiety attacks.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: You know, there's the fight, flight, or freeze.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Well, I would freeze.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: Uh sometimes I would flight and I'd run.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: And it's so easy to run away.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: It's so easy to get in your car and just go and listen to your music and just go and cry and not face, you know, what you're going through.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: You know, and that's a distraction, you know.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Uh go home, figure it out, you know.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: Um, don't run.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: The freezing thing is was something I just I don't know, it was like an anxiety thing.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: I don't do that anymore.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: I haven't had one of those in five years.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: But um, the freezing thing would always catch you out, catch me off guard, and it's it was like a state of panic, like inside, you know.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: And um, but those are the kind of distractions that have held me back.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: And then when I don't want to face those things, I become Martha.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: But what I really need is I really need to be Mary, and so then you look at um Mary of Bethany, and she was um so we talked about the food that endures, dwelling in the house of the Lord forever, and that's also in Psalm 23.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: Um, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: You know, that's another one.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: I love that one.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: Psalm 23 is so good.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: But um, there's a Mary of Bethany, it says, uh, then six days before the Passover, uh, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, that where he had been dead.
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: So he was dead.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: This is after his resurrection.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: He was raised from the dead.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: There they had made him supper, and Martha served.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: But Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: And Mary took a pound of very costly oil of Spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: And the house was filled with the fragrance oil.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Now that's very interesting to me.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: The the whole house was filled with oil.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Now I've repentance is is actually a fragrance to the Lord.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: That's another thing to repent from things that we do.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Um, there's different aromas to Christ, and sitting at his feet, I think, is one of them.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: And I really like that it said the whole house was filled with fragrance.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Well, are we filled with his fragrance?
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Our spiritual house, you know, our minds, our hearts, our souls?
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: Are we spiritually, you know, smelling like a beautiful Spikenard oil?
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: Um, but but one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray him, who was gonna betray Jesus, said why was this fragrant oil not sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and had the money box.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: And he used to take so and he used it to take what what it was put in.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: So he was in charge of the money box.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: I guess he was the the the cashier or the treasurer, the treasurer.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: But Jesus said, let her alone.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: She has kept this from the day of my burial.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: For the poor you have with you always.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: You always have the poor with you.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: But with me, you do not always have.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: So this was after Lazarus was raised from the dead, but it was also before the triumphal entry.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: And there were, if you read further on in the text, there was acts after this, there were plots to kill Lazarus.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: You know, and the Pharisees were so distracted from their um righteousness.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: That's another distraction.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: There, they knew the word, they knew the Torah.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: Um, they were rabbis, they were very learned men, they were very intelligent, probably smarter than a lot of us today.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: Um, but their heart was not, they didn't really know the Messiah when they saw him.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: He was right there, you know, and they were so distracted by their arrogance, their pride.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: I'm up here, you're down there, you're nothing, you're a peasant, you know, um, you're a commoner, you know, you know, you can see it, you know, you see it today.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: You see people that, you know, have a lot and people that don't.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: You're always gonna have the poor.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: Well, Judas, he didn't care about the poor, he was just the treasure, but he's like, oh, he puts down what she did for the Lord, her first love.
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: She went to the Lord, she had the oil filled in her heart, you know.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: She was giving him, you know, it was like the Holy Spirit was using her to anoint his feet for burial because soon he was going to be taken to the cross.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: And he was gonna take the cup that we deserve on the cross.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: And I re and uh here's another thing: Jesus wasn't distracted when he was, you know, in the prayer garden at Gethsemane, which means oil press.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: He was um focused on his beloved bride.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like a groomsman should be, like just thinking like you can't wait for the wedding.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: You can't, you're excited, you know.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: And it's there's a Psalm of Solomon somewhere it says, He is my beloved, and my beloved is mine, you know, and and he says he goes and he prepares a house.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: Well, here's the thing the grooms back then they would actually prepare for their bride.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: It could have been seven years, like Sarah and Abraham.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: Like, was it Sarah and Abraham?
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: Or no, it was Jacob.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: It was Jacob.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: Jacob had seven years and then he had another seven.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: I know he had to because he wanted Rachel, but then he got Leah.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: Anyway, yeah.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: So talk about preparation for something and the distraction.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: You know, he was so focused on the beauty of Rachel, he what he didn't really know what hit him and what was going on, you know?
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: So um then there's Jesus who um so he's baptized, John the Baptist baptizes him, and he was baptizing people for the remission of their sins, and they were repenting and being baptized.
- 25:29SPEAKER_02: And Jesus comes on the scene and he's he says that you know there's one that's coming that sandals that I don't even that I can't even wear, basically.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Like I can't even compare to him, you know, and he's coming and he's greater.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: So Jesus comes and he baptizes him, and then the Holy Spirit descends onto him like a dove.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Says like a dove, it doesn't say a dove, but it descends upon him.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: And God says, This is my son whom I love, you know.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: And um after that, Jesus is led into the desert, and he is tempted, he he gets tempted by the devil.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: And um there's this is a really good part right here.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: I love this part.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: Now you're getting ready to share.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so he goes into the desert.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so then Jesus led it by the desert.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: He was tempted by the devil, and when he fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, afterward, he was very hungry.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: Now, when the tempter came to him, he said, If you are the son of God, command these to become these stones to become bread.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: But he answered and he said, It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but every word that precedes the mouth of God.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: Tell Martha that.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: You know, tell her that, okay?
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, Martha, man shall not live on bread alone, but every word that precedes the mouth of God, okay?
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Uh then there's and and so if you want to go back into the Old Testament where it says it is written, it's in Deuteronomy 8.3.
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: And it says, So he humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you did not know, or or did not know your fathers know, that he may might make you know that man shall not live on bread alone, but man lives on every word that proceeds the mouth of the Lord.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: So they're complaining.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: You know, there's I mean, God gave a manna, there's so much complaining.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: They complained for how many years?
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: Forty years.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: Forty years in the desert, yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: Forty years in the and and I can tell you, they complained about so many things because I'm actually reading reading it right now.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: Like I'm in um Exodus right now.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: They complained so much.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: I remember that they complained so much that they actually desired to go back to Egypt where the food was free because it was easier.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: You know, they would rather live um as prisoners and be beaten and and um be slaves and than to uh continue forward because um that's that's how long they're in the wilderness.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: That they they were just literally distracted by what what the purpose of them being free really was about, that they really desired to actually go back.
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: Yes, and in Exodus, um I believe it's 29.
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: Um I'm pretty sure it's 29, but in Exodus they he anoints the priest.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: Okay, so he he goes to anoint the priest, Aaron, which is crazy because way before that, what did Aaron do?
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: So he anoints the ear, the thumb, and the and the and the toe.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: The ear is you know, you need to hear the Lord, you know, it's it's a symbolic representation of hearing his voice in consecration to the Lord and the hands and the feet.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: We're the hands and the feet, where our feet go.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, he's a lamp unto our feet and a light to our path, you know, and then there's the hands, right?
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: So, you know, we don't want to rush into um being distracted where our hands and feet are going to go.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: You know, there's the wide path and there's the narrow path.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: What's crazy about Aaron is he gets anointed, even though before this he he lied to Moses.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: He comes down and um they were all having, I'll just say it, orgies and dancing and do it, drinking and partying.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: They were having a big old party, and they decided to make their own God.
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: They said, We're gonna make our own God.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: He used to take them so long up there.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: So then um they put their gold together and out comes a golden calf.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Well, Aaron tells Moses, oh, the gold just fell in and poof, it just uh you know, a golden calf appears, you know, we didn't know if you were coming back, so we're gonna worship this cow.
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: And um it was like it's like, oh, so so this is like Baal worship.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: This is you know, you're worshiping something other than God, and he says, Do not put any other god before me.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: Remind me is jealous, for I am a jealous God, and this is a zealous kind of love, you know, he loves us, and he gives us a lampstand and the he gave, you know, had had like the fiery bush he talked out of, and he puts you in the cleft of the rock, you know, and that to me that's my prayer time.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: I go to the cleft, let the glory of the Lord, you know, come by, you know, and um just like I feel like a little bird when I'm in my prayer, you know.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: I'm just okay, God, I'm going to my cleft, you know.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Um, but there's so many things in the old testament and the new testament that we can relate to, right?
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: You know, um, and that's one of them, the lie, the biggest lie.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: I hate I hate it when I'm lied to.
- 31:22SPEAKER_02: And so it's to me, you're you're you're worshiping in another in another realm of not God, you know, when you lie.
- 31:33SPEAKER_02: I don't like that.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: So then um did I read the whole thing already?
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: Um oh yeah, okay, so the next thing.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: Okay, there's another thing.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: Uh so out of the mouth of God.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Then the devil, and then the second temptation is the devil took him up into the city and set him in a pinnacle of a temple.
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: And he said to him, If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, He shall give his angels charge over you, and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dust your foot against the stone.
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: So the devil is quoting scripture back to Jesus.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: He's bold, he's bold enough to do that, and he doesn't care, right?
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: So he's gonna quote, he'll quote scripture to you, and he'll use people to do that.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: You have to stay focused.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: What is true, you know?
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: Uh true, beautiful, and praiseworthy.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: Don't be anxious about anything but prayer and petition and thanksgiving.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: Present your request to the Lord.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: Um then Jesus said to him, It is written again, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: Now in Deuteronomy 6 16, it says, You shall not tempt the Lord your God.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Okay, it says that.
- 33:02SPEAKER_02: Then it says, You shall not tempt the Lord your God, was you tempted him in Masa.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: So they've already been through this merry-go-around, right?
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: And so he knew he knew the scripture, so he quoted it back to him.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: This is how Jesus stayed focused and he didn't even waver.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Um again, the devil took him up on an ext exceedingly high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: And he said to him, All these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan, for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only you shall serve.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: Then the devil left him, and behold, the angels came and ministered to him.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: So in the third temptation, um it there's a scripture for that one too.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: And that would be Deuteronomy 10 20.
- 34:11SPEAKER_02: You shall fear the Lord your God, you shall serve him, and him you shall hold fast, and take the oaks, oaths in his name.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: Oath, it's a hard word for me to say, oath in his name.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: Joshua 24, 14.
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: Therefore, fear the Lord, serve him in sincerity and in truth, and put away gods which your father served on the other side of the river of Egypt.
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: Serve the Lord.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: So there's another one that just came to my mind, and that's in the Proverbs.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: It says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: And that's Proverbs, I'm sure.
- 34:51unknown: Right.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: That's in Proverbs.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: So, what kingdom are we looking for?
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: What kingdom are we serving?
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: Are we serving God's kingdom or Satan's kingdom?
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: We have a choice.
- 35:04SPEAKER_02: Um, look at all the kingdoms he's showing.
- 35:07SPEAKER_02: And you know what?
- 35:08SPEAKER_02: Kingdoms can be found in doing good things.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: It could be a job, it could be um doing ministry.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, I have seven ministries.
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: Look what I'm doing, you know.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, like, seriously, like that's crazy to me, you know.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I think that that can be our distraction when we get some of us um are distracted with just having a title over our head.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know, I'm a um um and nothing against a worship leader or a Sunday school leader or a daycare, you know, servant.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: It's and that's fine.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: God, we need those positions filled in the church, and they're and they're very important positions.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: But if you go around boasting about it um and you're so distracted by it that you're actually taking um that um instead of taking yourself to Jesus, kind of like Martha, she she wanted to please Jesus, she wasn't trying to not please Jesus, she was definitely trying to please Jesus, but she was not sitting and taking in Jesus' word.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: So if we're serving in the church, which we need to be serving, but if we're going around boasting and being distracted by telling everybody, oh I'm I'm the worship leader, or I'm I'm um um I run the daycare or um I'm I'm a homeless um I I run the homeless ministry or whatever.
- 36:30SPEAKER_00: Um if we're using that and boasting with it instead of crediting God for it and giving all the glory to God, then we actually take that away from God.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: We're not giving it.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: That's not a service to God, that's a service to ourselves, and that's a distraction.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: The enemy wants to distract us by allowing, you know, people will come up and pat you on the back and be like, oh my gosh, you know, you do you do such such a good job at this, this, this, this, and this, and this.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: And honestly, we forget sometimes to go, you know what, you know, thank you, but all glory goes to God, you know.
- 37:03SPEAKER_00: Instead, we go, oh yes, yes, I did do such a good job.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, I am good at this.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, I do know how to do, you know, yes, I do know what I'm doing, you know.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: So we need to be careful in that.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: But another story on um distraction that I wanted to share, share real quick before we get too uh far out of time, is that um, which is one of my favorite stories, and that's why I like to go to it.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to find it here.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: So we talked about Martha, um, which is a great, a great illustration, but also Peter.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: Peter, um Peter was focused on Jesus while he was walking on the water, and he was walking no problem on the water.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: But what happened?
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: He got distracted by the wind and the waves, just the wind and the waves, and he began to say.
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: And Jesus said, Why why are you taking your eyes off me?
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: Why are you worrying about the winds and the waves when I'm standing right in front of you?
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm I'm I'm you're standing on water that's really deep, and you're worried about the wind and the waves right now, you know.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: And he starts to sink.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: And so I always I love that because we get distracted.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: He got distracted by wind, like the wind blew.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, there I went, there went Peter.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: His mind went completely off from Jesus, you know.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, here come a wave.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: There went, there went Peter.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: He he went, you know, a different direction and he started sinking.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: And that's what happens with us.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: We get so busy with so many distractions that we don't keep our eyes on Jesus, we don't keep that focus going.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: Even David was distracted with uh Bathsheba.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: Solomon was distracted by all of his luxury.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: Solomon was very wealthy, he had a lot of luxury, he had a lot of indulgence, you know.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: He was he had a lot, you know.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: And um he was distracted by material things.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: Well, he had and he had all those wives, and God warned him about that.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he had his hands full, both of them.
- 38:56SPEAKER_02: But uh wedding every week, no, I don't know.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: I don't even know how he went through so many wives, but he did.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: And you know, it's crazy because um his focus wasn't Jesus, you know, and all of these individuals in the Bible, I love their stories, but one thing I want to share with our listeners today is what are our distractions?
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: What are we dealing with right now, today?
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: Like you and I, right now.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: Like I know in my life right now, I I get distracted because we have a to-do list.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: We wake up every day going, oh, what do I have to get done today?
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: What do I have to get done today?
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: And so sometimes, like, it's taken me years to wake up, and like someone said, you know, you should give your first, the first part of your day to God.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: You should get up, you should pray, you should meditate, you can worship, whatever it looks like for you.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: You should spend the first, even if it's just five minutes, ten minutes, you should give that.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: But sometimes I wake up and I'm like, oh man, I gotta, I gotta go do this, I gotta go do that, I gotta do that, or you get woke up, you know, like the dogs are barking, or the kids are, or the alarm's going off, you gotta get the kids to school, or you gotta make breakfast, or whatever it is that you're doing in your life, those are distractions that take you away from that word of God that God wants us to feed.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: He wants to feed us something.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: He wants to give us manna from heaven instead of having Martha giving us chicken and dumplings at the table.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: You know, he wants to give us real manna, the real food, the real nourishment that's gonna keep us um righteous on the righteous path.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: And um, I love also in Proverbs, I believe it's Proverbs 4, and it's where um, so King David um taught King Solomon, and King Solomon was teaching his son how to stay on the righteous path and to stay away could stay away from the darkness, stay away from the wickedness, to try to keep yourself on that path, on the path of righteousness always, because those distractions will detour you into going down a path of destruction.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we don't think about it, we don't realize that even our small stuff that we're doing that we're distracted by, um, it can detour us, and the devil's good at this.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: He wants to detour us away from keeping our eyes away from Jesus instead of taking our eyes to Jesus.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: And so we need to we need to really be mindful and thinking, you know, what can I do?
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: What can I do?
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: So why don't you, if you don't mind, why don't you tell our listeners something that they can do every day to keep them focused on Jesus in spite of the distractions?
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: Because we're going to have them.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: The devil's not gonna leave us alone.
- 41:30SPEAKER_02: Yes, and it's funny you should say that because I was just thinking about that.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: Um, so there's a lot of noise, there's static.
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: There's noise.
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: Have you ever heard like some people when you go to their house, it's so loud.
- 41:43SPEAKER_02: I can't stand it.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: I am a peaceful person, and a lot of times when people come to my home, they're like, wow, it's so peaceful here, you know.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: I like it.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: Well, it's because I keep it that way, and and the reason I do is because I need peace in my life.
- 42:00SPEAKER_02: And um, I went to this friend's house.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, so she she took me to Stockton and she wanted me to be her friend, and he was a minister or pastor or something, and um we went there for some prayer meeting.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: So we're like in the prayer meeting, and then after that, he shows us this room, and it's what you call a soundproof room.
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: He said, when he was a little boy, he was so fascinated with sound.
- 42:33SPEAKER_02: And when he was in the he created a soundproof room, and I said, Wow, it is so quiet in here.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: Now I think that my house is soundproof because it's so peaceful.
- 42:46SPEAKER_02: It's not.
- 42:46SPEAKER_02: You would you wouldn't believe the distractions that are here.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: That's why when we go on retreats where we're in the mountains and stuff, it always feels like we can hear God better.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: When we go to the beach, we always feel like we can hear God better because we can, because we're not distracted with the TV, the noise.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: I I personally have to shut everything off.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: I quit watching TV.
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: I don't hardly ever watch it.
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: It's not a thing for me.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: To me, it's a big distraction.
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: It's to me, it's boring.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: To me, it's like I have I have better things to do.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: I I want to spend time with the Lord.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: So being in your word, spending time with the Lord, worshiping Him, um, it's it's like I crave it.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: Like I have to be in my word.
- 43:31SPEAKER_02: If I'm not in my word every day, I get distracted.
- 43:35SPEAKER_02: I start going, going, going.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: And I recently took a bunch of things off my plate because I was doing too much.
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: And it and I need more time with him.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: I need to sit on that mountaintop.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: And you know what's crazy?
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: That man goes, watch this.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: He had a um, he had um chairs there for to play music and stuff, and he would worship and listen to music.
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: He unplugged everything.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: And it got quieter.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: Even things that are inside your wall are making noise, and you don't even know it.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: There's so much static, there's static noise.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: And you know, the Satan is the prince of the airwaves.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: He's in that, he's in that static zone, and he's causing constant static in our in our minds.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: And we need to take captive every thought into the obedience of Christ.
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: It's hard to do when things are when you're going through for me, it's emotional stuff.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: And I literally sometimes just go like this, and like I'm grabbing it, and I throw it on the ground, or I go for a drive, and I get away and I listen to music, and I just, you know, try have to get my focus back on him.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: When I'm out of focus, it's like, you know how Elijah went to the cave?
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: Look how distracted he was with um Jezebel.
- 45:00SPEAKER_02: Jezebel was going to kill him, and he she killed all the other prophets.
- 45:05SPEAKER_02: And so he she was an evil woman, you know, she did a lot of mean things and she shed innocent blood.
- 45:11SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, there's the seven things that are detestable to the Lord, you know.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: We talked about that.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: And um, you can look it up in Proverbs 6, you know.
- 45:23SPEAKER_02: Haughty, Hadi's, I don't know if you have it in front of you, but um those things we're not supposed to be distracted with.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: We're supposed to Yeah, the abominations.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the the seven of them.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Do you want to handle those?
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't think we'll because there's seven of them, I don't think we'll have time to get through them today.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think that would be a good place for somebody that's listening if they want to look them up ahead of time.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: So when we do our next um our um our next podcast, um, you know, they'll they'll they can have their hearts and their minds prepared for that lesson because they they're really good.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: The abominations are really good, and we want to make sure that we are staying um completely focused on God to where these abominations that we're actually not doing any of these.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: Some of them are obvious.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: I think like murder, I don't think we're like everyone's out to murder, but now look at the world we're living in.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of murder going on.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, lots and lots and lots of murders.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: Look at the Christians that are being killed right now just for having the word of God on them.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Yet, yet we take advantage of that.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: We have our Bible sitting on a shelf getting dusty, you know, or we pick it up once in a blue moon, or you know, and that's why, you know, I was watching that on TV where all these Christians were getting killed, and um, I was like, man, Lord, don't let me be so distracted that I don't pick up your word and I don't get into it every single day, because this is a privilege.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: This is something that that we get to have that others are fighting, they are dying for it.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: They have one page advantage of it.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they only get one page.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: Some some places in this world, they only have one page, they hide it because they're not supposed to have it.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: If it gets it, they get killed for it.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 47:05SPEAKER_02: And they just want that one.
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: Here we can have we have access to a whole entire Bible, and they want just one piece of it.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, it has power.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: It's like holding onto the hem of his robe.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: You know, it's not the robe that had the power, it's Jesus that had the power.
- 47:21SPEAKER_02: So, you know, the word of God is active, sharper than a two-edged sword.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: It does have power.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: The word of God has more power than any principality in this world that can tempt you and try to drag you astray.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: One thing that I did learn is we are supposed to keep in step with the spirit.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: That's in Galatians 5.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: We're to have what love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control.
- 47:48SPEAKER_02: That's the hard one.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: We all struggle with that.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: Let's go get some ice cream right now, you know.
- 47:54SPEAKER_02: Or if someone has a drug problem or an alcohol problem, even Christians can have those issues.
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 48:01SPEAKER_02: They used to do it, or they're going through stress, and that's something their brain just wants to go through, go right to, especially the the enemy likes to get you when you're young, and you start those behavioral patterns, and it carves a pattern in your brain to want to go right back to it.
- 48:19SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 48:20SPEAKER_02: And it's a real fight and it's a real struggle.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: Um, there's a book called Seven Ways of Sobriety.
- 48:27SPEAKER_02: Part of it is health, too.
- 48:28SPEAKER_02: You know, you we gotta keep ourselves healthy, and um, we're supposed to take care of our bodies.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit where the Holy Spirit dwells, it dwells within us.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: And if we're unhealthy, we're not gonna think right, we're not gonna think correctly, we're not, you know what I mean.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: But I know a woman who um had she is in the Guinness Book World Records of having the most seizures or um aneurysms, sorry, not seizures, aneurysms, and surviving.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Wow, and surviving.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: So, so she's had all of these, and um, they said, You're never gonna be able to talk.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: And guess what?
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: She prayed.
- 49:11SPEAKER_02: She said, 'God, if you will let me talk, I will use my mouth and I will speak of you.' And guess what?
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: She gets on the bus, she can't drive.
- 49:21SPEAKER_02: She goes on the bus and does her little tours.
- 49:24SPEAKER_02: Everywhere she goes, she proclaims the name of the Lord.
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: She tells everybody about Jesus.
- 49:30SPEAKER_02: Some people might think she's crazy, but I think she's crazy for Jesus.
- 49:34SPEAKER_02: And you know, she was a big witness in my life.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: And funny, her name is Mary.
- 49:40SPEAKER_02: Um we went to dinner, we went to we went to lunch and I got convicted.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, me, my other friend, and her, we all went to lunch one day.
- 49:49SPEAKER_02: We're having a good old time.
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: And there was this uh young gal, and um, she was not having a good day at work, and she was, you know, uh late on getting us our water.
- 50:00SPEAKER_02: She was holding up our order, she was so she was so distracted from her job.
- 50:07SPEAKER_02: And um, it seemed like she might have been going through something.
- 50:10SPEAKER_02: Now, my other friend was like, What is this?
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: You know, and she was like so disturbed, and I started kind of like melting into what she was saying, and I was like, Yeah, where's our water?
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: You know, and then um Mary's just sitting there listening, and she waited, and the girl comes, and and I'm I'm like, Yeah, thank goodness we're getting our water, right?
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: She's pouring our water, and Mary grabs her hand, and Mary doesn't have much, but she had two dollars, and I was buying her lunch, and she puts it in her hand, and she said, I don't have much, but this is what I have, and you deserve it.
- 50:52SPEAKER_02: Oh wow, I I teared up and I cried.
- 50:54SPEAKER_02: I'm like, we can get distracted on our anger and our needs.
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: I want water.
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, guess what?
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: Jesus has water that that lasts to eternal life.
- 51:11SPEAKER_02: Told the woman by the well who was distracted with what five husbands?
- 51:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, five husbands.
- 51:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:21SPEAKER_02: So you know, fill me with nothing can fulfill you like Jesus.
- 51:29SPEAKER_02: His water, his water lasts to eternal life.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: You know, you you mentioned the word water, and and I'm just gonna say this in closing before we wrap up here, that um again, a distraction that I think the world is in because we are not paying attention that we are so we we are diving deep into the end times right now, and we are actually witnessing it firsthand.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: A lot of the things that are being fulfilled in the Bible, the prophecies that are coming to pass, and they're coming to pass faster and faster and faster than we've ever seen them fulfilled before.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: And one of the prophecies is that um during the tribulation, the water is going to turn to blood.
- 52:08SPEAKER_00: So if you are drinking a bottle of water like me right now, you might want to be thankful because if you do not get raptured up, if someone does not get raptured, they are not gonna have water to drink.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: Um I always encourage people to come to know Jesus because Jesus is the water, he is gonna give us plenty of water to drink.
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: But if we deny Jesus, if we do not take heed in his word and um, you know, accept him in our heart and and go to heaven with him, then we are not gonna have water.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: We are gonna be thirsting and thirsting.
- 52:42SPEAKER_00: We are gonna be so thirsty that we're not just gonna get upset with the waitress, we're gonna probably be upset with everything that that's around us because we're gonna be pretty darn thirsty and we're gonna be poisoned by the water that we do have, we'll end up dying trying to get something to drink.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: And that's how devastating the world is is turning right now.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: But there's an answer, and that's Jesus.
- 53:03SPEAKER_00: Because Jesus, if we keep our eyes on him, pay attention to what's going on in the Word of God, and um be ready.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: It says to be ready in and out of season.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Keep your oil lamps filled, do not be idle, do not do not be hasteful either, do not waste time.
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: Get ready now.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: And here's the thing I also want to share real quick is another distraction.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is a huge disc distraction, and and maybe um you could add to this in closing.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: Um I think a lot of people are waiting to come to Jesus because they're waiting to get their act together.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Well, I can't I can I can't come to Jesus because I'm too messed up, I've made too many mistakes, I'm a failure, I'm a this, I'm a that.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: And that's the enemy putting that distraction in your ear, keeping you from Jesus.
- 53:51SPEAKER_00: He's going to keep you and tell you all of these things that you're not worthy, you're not good enough.
- 53:57SPEAKER_00: Jesus will never accept you nor love you unless you're cleaned up.
- 54:02SPEAKER_00: So let me tell you this.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: When you have a little child, and you and I can relate because we we've had a lot of kids, when they fall down, we pick them up, we dust them off, and we send them on their way.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Do we not?
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: That's Jesus'.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: Jesus is right there when we fall down in the mud, in the mud puddle, in the, you know, whatever we fall down in in the dirt, and he doesn't, he doesn't dismiss us, he doesn't disown us, he doesn't stop loving us.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: He just dusts us off and he helps us along on our way.
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: He wants us in the mess that we're in right now.
- 54:32SPEAKER_00: He does not want us to being distracted by what the enemy is trying to do.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: The enemy is keeping people so distracted with identity.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Identity is huge, with politics, with government, with laws, with um government shutdowns.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: Everything that's going on in the world right now, those are all distractions of the enemy.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: And Jesus wants us to not, we're not even supposed to be worried about any of that stuff's going on.
- 54:56SPEAKER_00: If we have a relationship with Jesus, you don't have to be worried about that because our um our salvation and our eternity is is secure in Him.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: We have that security.
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: We have a huge security blanket wrapping us up in Jesus.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: Um, so I just wanted to say that to our listeners today that if if you are distracted and you are afraid and don't know Jesus because you think, oh, he doesn't love me, I'm not good enough, I'm not worthy, today's the day.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: Don't go, don't wait any longer.
- 55:26SPEAKER_00: Come right now.
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: Just just just ask God.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: Just just literally, it's it's so simple.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: The salvation prayer um is so easy.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: You just you just ask God, Jesus, please come into my heart, take away my sins and take me to heaven when I die, and forgive me, Lord.
- 55:42SPEAKER_00: And and that's it.
- 55:43SPEAKER_00: And then and mean it.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: And when that happens, transformation happens when you do that.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: Jesus sees it.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: And yeah, you're not gonna walk away and always you know when you when you come to church, and I use this example for people that that get really high and mighty and and they act the holier than that, that when they get they become Christian.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: So I want to make I want to put this out there too.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: When you come to church and you're in a mess.
- 56:07SPEAKER_00: So let's say you come to church and your clothes are dirty, and you accept Jesus Christ as your savior right then and there.
- 56:13SPEAKER_00: Are your clothes clean in that moment?
- 56:16SPEAKER_00: They're not.
- 56:17SPEAKER_00: No, you have to go home and launder them, right?
- 56:20SPEAKER_00: So when you get saved, Jesus saves you.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: You're you're saved, you have eternal salvation.
- 56:25SPEAKER_00: Does that mean you're perfectly clean, you're perfectly anything?
- 56:28SPEAKER_00: No, you're not.
- 56:29SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have to go home, you're gonna have to spend some time at Jesus' feet, and you're gonna have to put your clothes in the washing machine, and you're gonna have to tidy up, and you're gonna have God's gonna teach you to have a change of heart, and he's gonna show you his word, and he's gonna love you through it.
- 56:42SPEAKER_00: And he's never gonna stop you.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: Yes, he sanctifies you.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 56:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's a um there's a verse that I like.
- 56:50SPEAKER_02: It's in uh Romans 10, 9.
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: Um let's see if I can find it.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: Um, here it is.
- 57:02SPEAKER_02: I like to start with verse 8.
- 57:03SPEAKER_02: But what does it say?
- 57:05SPEAKER_02: The word is near in your mouth and in your heart.
- 57:09SPEAKER_02: That is the word of faith that we proclaim.
- 57:12SPEAKER_02: Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: For with one the heart, the one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: For this scripture says, Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame, for there is no distinction between Jew or Greek.
- 57:39SPEAKER_02: For the same the Lord is the Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.
- 57:48SPEAKER_02: For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: I really love that part where it says, You will not be put to shame.
- 57:56SPEAKER_02: So there is no shame, there's no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
- 58:02SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, in John 3 16, for God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him would have everlasting life.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's a Roman really good, really good scripture.
- 58:19SPEAKER_00: I love Romans because it talks a lot about salvation and um it it's very direct and it's very clear.
- 58:30SPEAKER_00: So I I I I kind of get confused when people go, Well, I don't understand salvation.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: Well, read the book of Romans, you know.
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: It's gonna help you.
- 58:37SPEAKER_00: Um, read the Gospels.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, start in the Gospels, but Roman, Romans really explains, you know, how to get saved.
- 58:44SPEAKER_00: You know, just repent, you know, and come to God.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Romans eight is my favorite because it says that we are we're chosen, you know.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: And I like to go in Romans 8 a lot, and it says that what raised Christ from the dead lives in you, you know, so the resurrection of Christ lives in you.
- 59:09SPEAKER_02: If you say yes to Jesus and ask him into your heart and confess that he is your Lord, he lives in you, he resides in you.
- 59:17SPEAKER_02: The Holy Spirit, it says once you first believe, you're sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: So the promise of the Holy Spirit, yes, you might do things wrong, but then you confess, Jesus, you're my Lord.
- 59:28SPEAKER_02: Come into my heart and help me with this situation.
- 59:31SPEAKER_02: I didn't act right today.
- 59:33SPEAKER_02: I had a tantrum or whatever you're going through.
- 59:36SPEAKER_02: There's no condemnation for those who are in Christ, which is in um, I think it's Romans 12, actually.
- 59:44SPEAKER_02: Going with Romans again.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:47SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, for those who love God are called according to his purpose, you know, and so he wants the relationship.
- 59:58SPEAKER_02: It's not about um, you know, being perfect like a Pharisee, it's about a relationship.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_02: You know, I had somebody once tell me, you know, I always have questions.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_02: I got I used to get in trouble for questions at school.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_02: And um, my teacher would get onto me.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_02: She had the sticks in her hair, you know, and a bun.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_02: And anyway, I would ask a question in history and she condemned me.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_02: And I was like, oh, the wrath of my teacher, you know.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_02: But Jesus is a better teacher, he's not like that.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_02: He loves you, and his love book is the Bible.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_02: He said he gave He gave us the Word and He gave us this to love us, you know.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_02: In Revelation, it talks about, you know, the lampstand and having your first love and and and staying with that and just running with it, you know, and sometimes, you know, like running and being a Martha, you know, distracts you from what you first started with, you know, starting fresh with him.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_02: And, you know, Jesus, you're my Lord.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_02: I I have to confess all the time and repent.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_02: Repentance is a fragrance.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_02: And repentance means to turn away from.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: You better repent, you bad girl, you know.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_02: But um I yeah, I've been a bad girl.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_02: But you know what?
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, Lord, you know, and you repent from what you've done, and then he fills you with his goodness, with his love, his joy, his peace, his patience, his kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, which is the hardest.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_02: Self-control is so hard because we're in these fleshy bodies, you know.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: We have body, soul, spirit, body, soul, spirit.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: You know, our body is the flesh.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_02: It wants what it wants, and we have those desires.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_02: And then the the next thing is the soul, you know, the soul is connected to the heart and the mind, you know, and that's what the distractions do.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_02: It tries to take captive of your heart and your mind and lead you in the wrong direction, actually drag you in the wrong direction, you know.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_02: And I don't know about you, but if something's gonna try to drag me, I'm gonna kick and scream and try to get away, you know.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_02: Like, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_02: If you think about a monster movie and something grabbing you and you're pulling away, I don't watch those movies, but I, you know, I'm just saying, like I used to when I was younger, and that was my mother loved, she used to love those scary movies.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_02: I I would hide and run, and I was convinced there was something under my bed.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_02: But you know, think about that.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_02: You know, what's dragging you away from saying yes today?
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_02: What is is there anything that you know, he is an anchor of hope for us, right?
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_02: You know, you want to be anchored in something, anchor yourself in Christ and see what he will do.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_02: I dare you, I'm gonna dare because I'm here because of a dare.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_02: I was scared, I didn't believe it.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_02: I was like, nah, it's not for me.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_02: I've gone to churches before, they're all you know, and yeah, there the thing about churches, there's people and they're trying to heal too.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_02: And it's like a spiritual hospital, you know.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_02: Right, we all fall short of the glory of God, so you can't just go to church and go, oh, you know, they're messed up.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_02: I it I knew it was wrong.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_02: No, the the Holy Spirit gets a hold of you, you know, and um see, a phone, uh, someone tried to call me and distract me.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_02: I was like, nope, goodbye.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I think also that we need to be careful with.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_00: Um, or this is one thing I'm gonna suggest is that if if you are um distracted, or if you're not sure what exactly is distracting, go and ask God to show you.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: Say, Jesus, what's distracting me?
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_00: Like, get up and go, you know what, God, today I really want to focus on not being distracted.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_00: So could you just bring it to my attention?
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_00: Can you just show me?
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_00: Um, because I think when you ask God to do that and start revealing things to you, He's gonna show you some things that you're not even gonna know.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: Like, I didn't even think about what you said about the sound and the walls.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_00: And like I'm look like when you did that, I literally looked around my room with or live in my living room and I was like, that's plugged in, now it's plugged in, now it's plugged in, you know, and and and what have you.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Wow, I wonder how much quieter my house would be if I just unplugged everything, even, you know.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I mean we need to get plugged in with Jesus and then let Jesus help us work through the distractions so that we can understand what they are.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_00: And not everyone's distractions are gonna be the same.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's gonna be some similarities, but um my distractions are gonna be different than yours.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: I have different things on my plate than than you have.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: And um, there's gonna be times where um Jesus really wants to show me something that um he wants me to get away from, he wants me not to be distracted by it any longer.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: But the enemy is really good at it.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_00: The enemy has been doing this for a long time.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_00: He's been pulling us around and dragging us for a long time.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_00: He is the author of detouring and diverting and all of that.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_00: He puts the road box up every single time to make you wonder what you're doing in your own life.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_00: So, with that in mind, we do need to get um, we need to we do need to wrap up, but I think for our next episode, I think that we should dive into the abominations um and explain how each one of them um not only are they a hindrance, which a hindrance is also a distraction, um not only are they a hindrance, but how they actually um they keep us in ha uh in bondage and we become hostage to the enemy when we are living in abomination.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_00: We need to come be we need to become free from that, and we need to get delivered from that.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: That and we we haven't even touched deliverance yet.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be a whole nother topic of discussion.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_00: But when we dive into the abominations and we break them down and explain how they become a distraction in our life and how we can get delivered from them and stay away from them and recognize them.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we don't realize we're even doing stuff.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_00: Like for me, sometimes I walk in a room and I'm like, I don't even know why I'm in this room.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_00: I walked in here and I don't wanna lie.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_00: Because I'm already distracted.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_00: Just walking from one room to another, the enemy will distract me from my mindset from what I'm trying to get done that day.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_00: And um, which causes frustration and then the devil wins because now I'm irritated because I don't even know why I left the room.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_00: So we want to be really careful.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_00: So my suggestion today for all of our listeners is if you are distracted and you find yourself in a place that you're you you really want to be like Mary, you want to sit at Jesus' feet, but you have so much on your mind, so much on your plate, so many emotions raging throughout your body, um, just a lot on top of you.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_00: Take a look at yourself, do some self-evaluating and just ask Jesus, Jesus, show me.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_00: And he may not show you the whole package, he may only show you one thing.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_00: He might go, you know, I just want you to focus on this one thing.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: And then he may break it down.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_00: He may want you just dump the whole plate.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: He might be like, here, just go get a clean plate.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_00: Let's just start over.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_00: So God works on us differently.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think that as we're clearing out our distractions and we start getting free from them, we are gonna just feel like you said in your home, you're gonna feel peace, you're gonna feel a weight lifted, you're gonna feel joy, you're gonna feel happiness.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna feel burdened with trying to be Martha.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_00: Martha was irritated.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_00: Martha was irritated with Mary, and she actually got irritated with Jesus for Jesus not rebuking Martha Mary for not helping her.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_00: Like she was getting really agitated with Jesus, even for not going, hey, why aren't you making her get in the kitchen?
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_00: And Jesus is like, no, she is in the right place, right where she needs to be.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_00: And that's where we need to get.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_00: We need to get ourselves to where we are in the right place where we need to be with Jesus so that way we aren't distraction.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_00: And then when it comes back around, we'll recognize it and go, you know what, uh-uh, no, not today, devil.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_00: I saw you before.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_00: You are out of here.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_00: We're we're done with that.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_00: And then you can cast it, rebuke it, whatever you need to do with it to get rid of it.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_00: And so that's really, really, really, really exciting.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_00: But going forward, we do need to wrap up because we are running, we are out of time, actually.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_00: But um this episode for this podcast, we are going to do a series on distraction.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: This was just the first, the first topic, and we went a little bit long.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_00: We shared a lot of information.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_00: So if you didn't get it all, go back and listen to it.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of scripture to look up.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_00: Um, and if you have any questions, um, just message Trish or I in the comments um of the video that's posted and let us know how we can help you out.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_00: And if you need prayer for anything, let us know that too.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_00: And Trish, do you have anything you want to say in closing?
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_02: Um, so when you were talking about Mary and Martha, I realized just now, and this is fresh off the press, um that Mary and Martha both were in need of something.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_02: They were both in need of something.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_02: And you know what what is our need?
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_02: Do we need to be at his feet?
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_02: Do we really need to be like Martha and go?
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_02: I need her to help me.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_02: You know, they both were in death, they were both in desperate need of something.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: We're always looking for that need that to fulfill us, but it's really Jesus that can do that, you know.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_02: And then I and then I have a t-shirt idea.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_02: Um unplug the noise, plug in with Jesus, anyway.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, cute.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_00: That's cute.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_00: I think I'm gonna I am gonna add to that because when you said that about being in need, um when we do have needs, we need to make sure our needs are Jesus bound and not the enemy telling us that's what our need is.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_00: Because the enemy will lie to us.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_00: The enemy will be like, you need to clean your house, you need to cook dinner, you need to do everything Martha was doing, um, and getting distracted because the enemy, I think, was keeping her in distraction instead of allowing her to go sit with Mary at Jesus' feet and absorb exactly what Jesus was dishing out.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_00: That would have been the best dish of all.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_00: But um I think the enemy, we got to be careful where our focus is and our distraction and where that distraction is coming from.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_00: If it is of the enemy, we need to recognize it and we need to um not focus in on it.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_00: We need to focus away from it and just call out to Jesus and say, Hey, uh, you know, I'm not sure if this is just if you don't know, say I don't know if this is a distraction, but I don't feel like it's of you.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_00: So I want to, you know, lead me to you, Jesus.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_00: You know, that kind of that kind of thing, if you will.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_00: Um, so that way we can regain ground and be in the position where um we're not Peter.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, we we're gonna sink.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_00: We're all gonna start sinking if we don't get out of the distractions.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_00: And our world is so full of them.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_00: It's just it's just so full.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, I could go on and on and on about all of the distractions, but um again, we do need to wrap up this episode.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_00: So is there anything you have that you want to say before I say goodbye?
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm always thinking about the parable of the sower, too, and how um there's one part where it's you know, there's different soils, you know, and of course the good soil is the heart that's ready for Jesus.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_02: So is your heart ready for Jesus?
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_02: There's some hearts that are still hard, and he has to break up that soil to get that seed in there, and the seed is what we did today.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_02: That's the faith, it's the um the word of God.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_02: And um when those seeds are sown into your heart, the birds can come and steal it away, or the ways of this world can choke it out, which is, you know, like the thorns and the thistles that like if you're a gardener, you go and you plant your plants.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_02: And I've actually witnessed it because I have a little garden and I've seen birds come in and steal my seed.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_02: And I've seen uh weeds come in there and choke my plant, my one tomato plant that just got destroyed over the weed.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_02: And um, and that that can happen to us, you know, we hear the word, we, you know, but all this stuff, these distractions, and and that's in uh Luke 9, it's in three uh two other or also Mark 4 and Matthew 13.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_02: Um, but I really like Luke 9 because he gives a little more depth and a little more detail about how the ways and the worries of the world will choke you out.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_02: And that's always like the final stage is the good seed and the good soil.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_02: So they get it all up to the third point, and then this the distractions that come in, like the ways of the world that take it away and um choke it, you know, they strangle it.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_02: And um, you gotta think, you know, keep remembering Jesus and you gotta keep going to your Bible.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_02: And I've heard people who've been in leadership say, I've had a hard time reading my Bible today, but when I did, it was so great, you know.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_02: Uh so get in there, you know, get get in that word and read it.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, uh I like visuals, you know.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_02: Um I I like to actually the hearing of the word for me really helps me.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_02: And I'll put it on my audio Bible and I'll listen to it and close my eyes.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_02: And I imagine that I'm there.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_02: I imagine I'm in that place.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_02: And I and and sometimes I'll fall asleep, but you know, I wake up feeling so happy, and I'll and I'll I'll start out in John and I'll end up in Revelation when I wake up, you know.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_02: It's like, well, it was going through my head at least, you know.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_02: Um it it's just so refreshing to just get into the word, you know.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_02: And that's what I've been doing this.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_02: I've been at his feet all week and it feels great, you know.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that's it.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_00: So in closing, I just want to say this that um the word says not to worry about anything but to pray about everything.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_00: So let's close this out with prayer.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_00: And this has been a wonderful um episode today, and I hope that we were able to um um give some information to where we can help um Christians and believers to work on building up their faith and work on not being so distracted and spend time with Jesus.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_00: So, Father God, Lord, we thank you.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_00: We thank you for this this podcast.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_00: We thank you for for the opportunity, Lord, just to sit here and um take in your word, Lord.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_00: And and there's so much, so much goodness in your word.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_00: We could just go on and on and on and on, Lord.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_00: And we just ask that just whatever it is that you want us to get out of your word, that you just feed us today, Lord.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_00: We want your manna, Lord.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_00: We want everything that you have and everything you desire for our hearts, Lord, so that we could just be righteous and holy and just content with your word, God.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_00: We just love you.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_00: We just thank you again for everything you do, and Lord.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_00: We just want to glorify you in all things.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_00: And again, thank you for this podcast.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_00: We hope that all of our listeners, Lord, if they don't know Jesus, that they would just come to know you today, just by asking you to come into their hearts and take away their sin, Lord.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name I pray, Lord.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you, everyone.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_00: Um, we will be back in our next episode.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_00: So um, everyone, I hope they have a great day.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_00: God bless and take care.
