- 0:00Because fuck you. That's why. I is a founding member of the Odd
- 0:03Pods Media Network. Hello, and welcome to the Fine Audiobook Celebration episode.
- 0:44Guys. Guys, guys. I wrote a book, I published it,
- 0:49and then I went on the Internet and asked people to give me money to
- 0:53make the audio book and they did it. I can't believe it. I
- 0:59still don't know is this real life? Did I die at some point and
- 1:03I'm actually in heaven now? I have no idea. I'm just going with
- 1:06it. I'm going with the flow, no question at this point. So
- 1:11I I am so unbelievably blessed, and I wanted to celebrate our victory in
- 1:18a very timely manner two weeks after the starters succeeded. But you know I
- 1:25can all be winners. Listen. Scheduling as adults is super fun. Yeah,
- 1:32but I have two of my favorite people on the planet Earth here with
- 1:36me today. Uh and not only uh no, not you, guys.
- 1:41Man. I was like, sorry, I saw that going. I should
- 1:45have you could increase the number, it could be any number. You could
- 1:48say four. I should have said. I should have said two more of
- 1:52my favorite people on the planet of our health you should have. You should
- 1:55but you didn't. A right I have ninety could have my favorite. But
- 2:02who is missing? Will they be wondering why two of one of you are
- 2:08not my favorite person? But again, you're gonna want to be a patron
- 2:16member to get that. Get that joke. But anyway, so I have
- 2:21with us two of the stars of Thing the Audio Book. I have Carolina
- 2:27or Auela and David Atovino. Hi, guys, Hello, Hi, I'm
- 2:34so excited to have you here. Dave is making incredibly weird faces. I'm
- 2:42not sure if he knows this is an audio medium. They're in I'm looking
- 2:46into my camera. Well the Patreon supporters, Yeah, I'm looking for them
- 2:51in the camera. They think they're there. I told them we had a
- 2:54Patreon just so we could record them. Can get it. I'm so so
- 3:01excited to be doing this with both of you, Dave, David's playing David's
- 3:07playing Chris, the book's protagonist. Hey, and and Caroline is playing Victoria,
- 3:14one of the main cast members. Uh and one of my favorite.
- 3:17I mean, they're all my favorite, but you know, I love them.
- 3:23If I could have had everyone who got on the you know, on
- 3:25the cast, I would have absolutely, but that would have become so unmanageable
- 3:30and so impossible to schedule, as as I learned when I tried to schedule
- 3:35like a single meeting for all of everybody together, it just did not happen.
- 3:39Hard people's lives are weird, busy, very very busy. So but
- 3:46Dave is one of my favorite human beings ever. Caroline is one of my
- 3:50favorite human beings ever. Steven Oggie, You're just okay, that's the best
- 3:54we can help bar Really, no, no, no, you are all
- 3:58incredible. And I'm I'm so stoked of his day, like I can barely
- 4:00stand it. So if I had a question for you, I guess it
- 4:08would be what are you looking forward to most about Thane the audio book?
- 4:15Is there a particular is there a particular line? Is it listening to it
- 4:19afterwards? Is there a particular section of the book that you think will be
- 4:23interesting to hear? So let's go around the room and let's do some introductions
- 4:29first. I think it only fair to start with the illustrious host of the
- 4:32Ultra OAP Girls, which, which, after being put on quote unquote hiatus,
- 4:38is about to return. I think I can safely reveal yes, and
- 4:43super excited about that. It is my wonderful, wonderful, illustrious friend,
- 4:47Caroline or Cuelia it illustrious, Thank you so much. As a very quick
- 5:00local work get your own theme. So you mean you don't have your own
- 5:13themes? I just forgot to bring a mine's really good, So Caroline,
- 5:21we spend a lot of money on that. So so every time Caroline's on,
- 5:27I try to make sure we use it. Uh, get your money,
- 5:30that's true, absolutely true. So Caroline, do you have a particular
- 5:33line or scene that you're looking forward to, feel free to feel free to
- 5:38spoil this. This episode is going to have fain spoilers in it. Sure,
- 5:41I was going to ask spoiler warning right now. If you have not
- 5:45read the book, maybe go do that and then, but trust going to
- 5:48want to spoiler. There are a lot of things that could be spoiled,
- 5:54so uh, and there are a lot of things that it's a mystery thriller.
- 5:58What do you want? There's there's spoilers, so just be aware of
- 6:00that before you go listening to this. But Caroline, go ahead. Yeah,
- 6:03So I think the thing I'm most excited about with this is when I
- 6:08read the book and so I don't know you listeners may or may not know
- 6:12this, but I've read this book through its various phases. I've read it
- 6:16when it was a little fetus, and I've read it like the second in
- 6:19their drafts, and I think what I'm most excited about is just hearing the
- 6:26voice actors bring the dialogue to life, because every character has their own very
- 6:30specific voice, and I think that a voice acting performance will really bring like
- 6:34new breath into these characters. And so I know that's so general, but
- 6:38I'm just excited to hear these people speak and have voices. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:42exactly a thousand percent. And I think I've said it on the show
- 6:46before, but just in case I haven't, Caroline is the reason the book
- 6:48exists. Like I got to chapter eight and got very stuck and lost all
- 6:54of my self confidence. There wasn't a lot to begin with, but I
- 6:57lost all of it, and I was like, Caroline, is this worth
- 7:00continuing? And I sent her the first eight chapter. She was kind enough
- 7:02to read them and say, Hey, I think what you've got here is
- 7:05great, but here's some ideas and things, and it just sparked that that
- 7:12it just She's amused she's honestly, my muse, honest to god, very
- 7:15sweet. Thank you. Every time I ask her for advice, she knocks
- 7:18it out of the park, like, honestly, it would not have existed
- 7:21without you. So and I've thanked you like a million times already, but
- 7:25thank you. I really appreciate it, of course. Anything you have a
- 7:29lot of talent and a lot to give to the world. I'm gonna melt
- 7:32before the show's over all. Right, let's move on to your partner,
- 7:36Caroline. I've partnered you with our lovely friend. He's a gamer and a
- 7:41storyteller, and he used to be my youngest friend. It's Augie's I realize
- 7:58now I can never change my user. No, you're stuck with that forever,
- 8:03damn. So this will be really interesting, Aggie. Given that you've
- 8:05read five chapters in total, is there something in particular you're looking forward to
- 8:11about in the audiobook? Yeah, getting to the rest of the chapters.
- 8:16Honestly, I I want to read more of uh that. Okay, his
- 8:24name fleets my memory, but it's the character that's based off of our residents
- 8:28Stevie here, oh Jamie, Yeah, the not Stevie Jamie. Jamie has
- 8:35some fun in this, just because I want to see how much of his
- 8:37personality actually bleeds through the character. It's there, It's there in spades.
- 8:43Oh yeah, I'm gonna say that. The difference between Jamie and Stevie is
- 8:46like the one's a fictional character and the other one might be a fictional character.
- 8:56Yes, yes, sir, Wow, Okay, brilliant and the other
- 9:01team starting off with my buddy Dave. Now, Dave, I realized,
- 9:07unfortunately at the last minute, that I did not have a jingle for you,
- 9:09and that should be corrected. Now I've whipped something up and I think
- 9:13it's almost as good as Caroline's. So I think you're really going to enjoy
- 9:18it. Vocals Nope, I don't. Well, maybe Oggie hit it.
- 9:24It's Dave. Tell you what I like about it. It's efficient, Yeah,
- 9:43the soul of wit. It's short and sweet, and I I only
- 9:50had time to grab public domain stuff, so so, but it's the best
- 9:54thing I come up with. I hope you enjoy it, and I will
- 9:58send it to you if you want to use it as a ringtone. Thank
- 10:05you very much. I love you. I'm so honored. I'll have arguably
- 10:07the best jingle of anyone like if you that would be my roomtone for you,
- 10:13Like so when you'd be like, oh it's Dave, thank you brilliant,
- 10:20I want some m I would I. I recorded an audio tour for
- 10:26an art museum once and I voiced the voice of a particularly goofy looking like
- 10:31sixteenth century duke or something, and I gave him this voice, thought like
- 10:37this again, Hella Peasant. And everyone at the company, at the audio
- 10:43company who recorded, they now they told me that they took just that clip
- 10:48hair Peasant and that's their like their ringtone. Everyone in the office so hilarious.
- 10:54Oh my god, sorry, sorry to win her up. That's fantastic.
- 10:58Please any hilarious stories you want, Dave? Is there anything I know
- 11:05you've read the book? Is there anything in particular you're looking forward to most
- 11:09about either performing or listening back to the audiobook? Yes? There is.
- 11:13But I will also I will remind you and I will comfort Augie here because
- 11:18I am also a slow reader. And it took me a long time to
- 11:22get through this and and I told you this, like I think when we
- 11:24last saw each other, that I am a slow reader and I am the
- 11:31sort of like very distractable, highly distractable reader, such that if anyone,
- 11:37you know, like like if I'm trying to sit and read and if anything
- 11:41interrupts me, if anyone interrupts me, then I'd like I have to go
- 11:46back and reread the whole page. And in my household, just I have
- 11:54my two children who just constantly interrupt me. Yea. So so it did
- 11:58take me a while to find peace and quiet to get to finish it.
- 12:01So Aggie, you'll get there, don't. I don't know. And it's
- 12:05basically not taking it personally when you're in good company. So the thing that
- 12:11I'm looking forward to most, I think is the moment, well, not
- 12:16the moment, it's it's there is kind of a stretch where we're gonna spoil
- 12:20things for Aggy. Now He's right, it is. So it's it's when
- 12:31Chris uh tries to explain toever on his like second and third go rounds.
- 12:35It's when Chris tries to explain what has already happened to everybody, Uh,
- 12:39especially that that that the second go round where he's like, oh oh,
- 12:43and he tries to explain to everyone I know this about you, and I
- 12:46know this about you and I like that as an acting challenge because what draws
- 12:52me to science fiction as a fan are those things that really push the boundaries
- 12:58of human experience, right, that couldn't actually happen to a real person,
- 13:03And so as an actor, I have to like extra use my imagination to
- 13:07try to put myself in that kind of situation in these science fictional situations that
- 13:11that can't really happen in our reality, that really push the the emotional boundaries
- 13:16of of what our minds can comprehend. So I'm really looking forward to like
- 13:20doing some acting acting there. Yeah, it wasn't easy to write either,
- 13:26like trying to come up like what would happen in this instance? Like how
- 13:28would you even deal with that situation? So it needs natural Yeah, reads
- 13:35really naturally, So I need to make sure that I do justice speaking it
- 13:37out loud, you know, because sometimes there's a disconnect. There is something
- 13:41that reads really well doesn't speak you know. That's whatsoever you can put your
- 13:43headphones back on. Okay, he's literally skipping the spoilers, like you said,
- 13:48Yeah, the whole situation with the fist, the whole fist. Yeah,
- 13:50the whole fist, the whole absolutely and finally it could fit in there.
- 13:56Yeah right. Finally his partner, he's a veteran in a podcaster and
- 14:01a veteran podcaster. It's Stevie. It's Steve. That's almost as it's brief,
- 14:16it gets to the point your name not a word of a lie.
- 14:24Now you have read the book twice, I think yes. So is there
- 14:28a particular part that you're looking forward to, either as a performer or as
- 14:31a future listener. First off, I would like to say that Aaron,
- 14:37you are a marvelous author. You your your word smithing is beyond compare.
- 14:41Uh and if I bless you, I'm gonna start glowing. I could not
- 14:46imagine having any other honor that this being my first professional voice, I think
- 14:52gig then to do it with you? Man, oh man, You're gonna
- 14:54make me cry so seriously. I mean, I'm mad proud of you.
- 14:58I really am like you. You you grabbed like your passion. You took
- 15:01care of it. Man. Yeah, I'm sorry everybody. Stevie just won
- 15:05the whole episode, all right, That's all I needed. How many extra
- 15:09points? It's like twelve? What's the entire game? Out of reach?
- 15:15Yeah? They spend some backstage time with the host. You know I was
- 15:20messing around. You are one of my favorite I got you right, I
- 15:24got you No, I'm just looking forward to having some fun with like all
- 15:28these actual professionals and stuff apposted goofballs. I am excited to see you bouncing
- 15:33off of some of these people, like I know, I know you won't
- 15:35be recording with them, but excited to hear you. Strange. There's a
- 15:39bunch of scenes where the group of you were all together and JB just jumps
- 15:43in and Shepherd's the conversation because he's unafraid of, you know, doing just
- 15:46that. Yeah, yeah, he just goes right into it and he's like,
- 15:50man, I like vegetable sleeves where he's he's the bomb man, like
- 15:54little trees man you can like, have you ever been able to put sailor
- 15:58dressing on a tree? Well you can not a little damn Do I want
- 16:02broccoli for dinner tonight? Dope a ship, Thank you Stevie, And finally
- 16:11I am your host. Pencil Saran Stars. Yes, that gets stuck in
- 16:32my head often. My favorite of the song Yeah I dig It. We
- 16:37don't play it very often because we typically don't when we have guests but like,
- 16:41yeah, these themes are great and they just stick with you forever.
- 16:45I have made mine my ringtone. I actually had to change it when I
- 16:48went back to work because it had the explicit version, which was speaking high
- 16:55all the time. Past and future guests of Mexican actually did all of those
- 17:00except for Dave's. I naturally did Dave, Wow, that sounded so professional,
- 17:06though I thought, I really did. I thought that for you,
- 17:11Mexi is on a different level. But I gave Dave my own personal attention.
- 17:17Yes, exactly, and that's why. That's why it's the best.
- 17:19And I think I've sort of already spoiled that. But the thing I'm looking
- 17:22forward to most about the audiobook is the group scenes where everybody comes together and
- 17:26has a conversation, because that, to me, is where it will literally
- 17:32come alive. It's also those are also the segments where as the primary narrator,
- 17:37I get to do the least work, so so I enjoyed that for
- 17:41two reasons. But I'm really looking forward to listening hearing all of my characters
- 17:45start talking together, Like I think that's going to be a really magic moment
- 17:49the first time, Like when they're all there and they're all talking, You're
- 17:52actually hearing their voices. It's gonna be incredible. I have like deliberately with
- 17:59one exception, I've deliberately avoided like putting anybody like any any like characters voices
- 18:04in there. And the obvious well, actually there's two exceptions, and I
- 18:07think about it. The obvious exceptions are you, Stevie, and the other
- 18:12one is my who I envisioned as Erica E pretty much from the off.
- 18:21But aside from that, I really didn't like I went. I tried hard
- 18:25to avoid imagining even it was really hard with Caroline, like like I really
- 18:30there's really trying not to put Caroline's voice in Victoria's mouth, but like you
- 18:34know, it's gonna happen. It's gonna happen. So anyway, let's get
- 18:40to some games. Yes, okay, yeah, now I tried. I
- 18:42really tried not to make this all about Fane and all about me, because
- 18:49I've seen the show notes are I really genuinely tried? This is this is
- 18:56this? So this first game is kind of an on a basted ego trip.
- 19:03You don't say, uh, we're gonna we're gonna play, ask ask
- 19:08me anything. As basically is what it is. Uh, you're just going
- 19:12to take turns asking me questions about that, any question you want. But
- 19:17here's the kicker. My favorite question is going to win the game and earn
- 19:21their team one point and start us off. Oh jeez. Now we've taken
- 19:25a pretty long time just getting through the intros, so we might go around
- 19:29once, maybe twice, depending on how fast we go. But I'm going
- 19:33to leave it to Augie's team to decide, because Augie knows the least about
- 19:37the book. Aggie and Caroline, would you like to go first? Or
- 19:41would you like to make the other team go first? Do you have any
- 19:42questions prepared ahead of time? One already so we can go first? To
- 19:48go first, because I have I have some questions prepared as well. Okay,
- 19:51let's start with you and Caroline. Do you want to go first?
- 19:55Sure, I'll go first. This is a massive spoiler. Okay, I'm
- 20:02about to ask you, but Aaron, I'm curious, at what point in
- 20:06your story did you come to the slash, Like, at what point in
- 20:11me giving you feedback, did you come to the realization that the twist was
- 20:15going to be that everyone was ai Uh, pretty much immediately that was that
- 20:22was the genesis of the book, like was I think I may have told
- 20:26this story before, but I was finishing up De Rompe V three uh and
- 20:33uh V three At the end without spoiling V three uh, the villain reveals
- 20:40something to the characters that rocks them to their core, and I misunderstood it.
- 20:45I legitimately thought that that she was saying that they were all like AI
- 20:49characters NPCs in a virtual world like we had seen in dang Rope of two.
- 20:56Well for that too, but I'm just going to spoil anything, and
- 21:00sorry Doggie, so uh. The villain eventually clarifies that that's not what she
- 21:07meant. She meant something entirely different. But the idea of characters who were
- 21:12artificial intelligences who didn't know they were artificial intelligences stuck in my brain. Uh.
- 21:19So that was a that was a really hardcore genesis for the Sorry,
- 21:25I just spoiled everything. Headphones on her off, it doesn't matter, you
- 21:30might as well put him back on. I'm like, you're in the same
- 21:33room. By the time I get her on to it, I'll forget it
- 21:34anyway. So the idea really stuck with me and and I between that and
- 21:41a few other ideas like the the the whole, the whole rogue black hole
- 21:51thing came about reading an article and I think it was I think it was
- 21:53crack dot com actually, but I was like, it's scared the Jesus out
- 21:59of me. I'm like, this come along at any time and just there's
- 22:00literally nothing we can do about it. I was. I was genuinely like,
- 22:06holy crap. So I kind of mushed those two ideas together and the
- 22:10whole plot kind of spun out of that. So does that answer your question?
- 22:15Yeah? Awesome, perfect, perfect, great question, Augie. Is
- 22:18there any question you would like to ask? Why? Yes, Smoggy from
- 22:22me, it's for twenty w There was a romo you secretly made a Rule
- 22:26thirty four version of your book titled Thong. Is that book real? And
- 22:33if so, may we see the manuscript? Asking for a friend? You
- 22:36understand, h I genuinely love you Ogi. No, there is there's no
- 22:48and if there is no not safer work version of my book called Thong,
- 22:55you gotta make it now. The sequel. I don't even want to go
- 23:02into what I'd rename the characters. But if you add to this kickstart just
- 23:11that I'm just not doing it. That's very funny. Well done. Let's
- 23:17go to the other team, Dave Ceevie. Do you have any questions that
- 23:21was solid you got? I do I have two? I have too that
- 23:29I really want to ask. Okay, but is that not allowed? We
- 23:32might get around to a second one. Let's do Let's do one first,
- 23:34and if we have time, we'll do the other. Okay, Okay,
- 23:37I think I'm going to ask the one that I think is more important.
- 23:41And I asked this question in no way trying to like read into the psyche
- 23:45of my dear longtime friend Aaron here. So the relationship between Chris Victoria and
- 23:53Alera is I'm sure, you know, a really really cool exploration of poly
- 24:00amory. But you know, I, knowing that Thane was partly inspired by
- 24:04a video game, I also kind of couldn't help but envision the possible,
- 24:10like if this was like a BioWare RPG and these were what the heck cat
- 24:19just watched the man get murdered webcam? What did you just do? Oh?
- 24:29But I can't see what she did. I'm just gonna let it go.
- 24:33You still hear you still sound okay? We can't see you anymore.
- 24:36But we can hear you. You're just fine. So my question is,
- 24:44yes, for you, Aaron, if they were romancible n PCs in an
- 24:49rpgay, who would who would you choose? Victoria or a Lera, assuming
- 24:56it's a binary charge. Okay, so this is this is an interesting question.
- 25:03So I'll just briefly go over the whole thruple thing. So when I
- 25:07initially started writing the book, the plan was for Chris and Alera to get
- 25:12together at the end. And then I wrote chapter eight and the character of
- 25:18Victoria surprised me by kissing Chris. Uh And I say that because it was
- 25:22never intended. I just we literally I got the two of them together.
- 25:26I thought she was interesting and fun, and I thought there might be like
- 25:30a love triangle there. And then, like the whole chapter eight is a
- 25:34very intense scene. It's their first task together. They're figuring things out,
- 25:37they're getting it done, they think they've succeeded, and they celebrate, and
- 25:42it just came out as I was typing it. I'm like, yeah,
- 25:47she kisses him? Why not? And at I think that is the point
- 25:51where I was like what am I doing? It's like, what have I
- 25:56done. That is approximately when I said I sent the first eight chapters to
- 26:00Caroline was like, help, is this any good? What have I done?
- 26:07And I think it was a combination of talking to her about it and
- 26:11also knowing an actual thrupple in my real, everyday life, and knowing that
- 26:18this can work and it does work, that I was like, why not
- 26:22make it not a love triangle, make it an actual polyamorous relationship between all
- 26:30three of them? Why not? Like Victoria was written to be by so
- 26:34yeah, And you know, I was like, Okay, maybe they could
- 26:37both flirt with that idea, and maybe a leraub might be like, sure,
- 26:41let's experiment, let's find out. You know. I was like,
- 26:44yeah, why not, Let's just try it and see if it works.
- 26:47And my greatest fear was that it wouldn't work. But thankfully, everyone I've
- 26:52spoken to about it seems to think that it does actually work in the book.
- 26:56So yeay. But to actually answer your question, Victoria is uh.
- 27:03She was created out of a combination of Uh. Can I say this?
- 27:08I feel like I can say. I hope I can say this. Victoria
- 27:11was Kara was created out of a combination of Caroline herself, and a mutual
- 27:17friend of ours, Dave from and you one of my best friends from college.
- 27:22So basically the two combined sort of the the the bisexual thing kind of
- 27:27came out of thin air, and the polyamorous thing also came out of thin
- 27:33air. That was not tied to either one of those people. But Victoria
- 27:37has a wonderful singing voice and loves to sing. That fits both women,
- 27:41you know. So, but but let me let me be real and say
- 27:45that Alea is based on every ex girlfriend I've ever had rolled into one.
- 27:51So the answer is, Ailara, I I how we get down to you?
- 27:56I very clearly have a type, and it is it is shy,
- 28:03plain, retiring girls who are intelligent. Like that's it's very obvious to me
- 28:10that that's my type. So but yeah, that's the way that worked out.
- 28:15And and my two of my best friends were the victorious, so it
- 28:19was just perfect for me. And I was like, I love everybody.
- 28:22I love everybody in this And just a little extra note, nobody asked for.
- 28:26Chris is based on a kid we went to high school with who passed
- 28:30away very young. Yeah. His name was Nick Batt. Oh shoot,
- 28:34yeah, And I just want to Wow. I just wanted to pay a
- 28:38little tribute to him. And also, you know, I personally would not
- 28:42fit as like the protagonists of this book. I just wouldn't. I wouldn't
- 28:47have survived, so I couldn't base him on me. I just I was
- 28:49like, no, there's no way you have gotten the puzzle. I would
- 28:52have been good at the tax. Yeah, but fine, here's pieces of
- 28:56me and all of it. Let's move on. Cebe. Do you have
- 28:59a question, dude, man? And I needed to know, did you
- 29:03ever think of just completely messing with your characters at first? Like do you
- 29:08know the first I've done that? No? I mean like Psycho lot like
- 29:12more like instead of it being pained like for that instant that felt like it
- 29:17like lasted or whatever. Instead some dude like busts out of a wall and
- 29:19complete like messed up clown outfit and snashes you in the face with a pie
- 29:23and it dumps back into the wall like in the door shuts and ship,
- 29:27and you're just like what the fuck? And you're just like, oh,
- 29:30fuck these chuckleheads man, And you're trying to like do something until you get
- 29:33punished and you get that really long one that really fucks like, oh God,
- 29:37damn, like just like you think it's a fuck up and ship.
- 29:41I mean, it's a really funny idea, but I mean the whole idea
- 29:47of the simulation is that it has to run on rules. So who's rules?
- 29:52If if the quote unquote villain of the piece was a bit more of
- 29:57a mischievous individu, well maybe something like that could have happened, but it
- 30:03doesn't. Absolutely all right, I think we might have great to hear book,
- 30:18just don't write her own. I think we might have time for a
- 30:19couple of quick more questions Caroline and Aggie, do you have any more questions?
- 30:26Yes, of course, I have so many questions for bays all the
- 30:29time. So my next question is about Jamie and Maren. God, just
- 30:34wondering what went down? What went down that night the two of them?
- 30:41Really? Which which which night? Are we talking as the recording, first
- 30:47one, the first first cycle, first night, the first time, so
- 30:49first cycle? Yeah, she wrecks him, so she definitely destroys Jamie.
- 30:56Maren is the top is my head cannon? There? Maren not my best
- 31:03friend who this character is named after. No, yeah, Maren. Maren
- 31:11is most definitely a top. She absolutely did wreck Jamie that night. They
- 31:15were both in a very emotionally vulnerable position, both of them, like one
- 31:19right after the other, which was really interesting to me. And I think
- 31:22they both needed some comfort. And I think Maren was just like, we're
- 31:26doing this and Jamie's like, huh and then but no, of course he
- 31:30did content, you know. But yes, I think they absolutely went to
- 31:34Poundtown. I don't know how many times, how many times, probably until
- 31:41probably until the twelve o'clock thing made them pass out. Probably, Yeah,
- 31:52they probably just kept going again and again, which is why he had such
- 31:56a hard time walking in the morning, which makes sense. I mean,
- 31:57you don't know what's gonna happen that I today after that first one said why
- 32:00not just go for it? That was lovable. That was a super fun
- 32:06relationship to write, especially especially in my head canon that Maren is black and
- 32:10Jamie is not. That also in my head canon, Ethan is black as
- 32:15well, in case anyone was curious, uh, And I avoided I deliberate,
- 32:21I deliberately avoided using like skin color, skin tone, you know,
- 32:24descriptions so that anybody could be anybody in the book. Like if you read
- 32:29this and you imagine Chris is being black perfect he is. Then you know,
- 32:32if you read this and imagine Victoria being black, same, you know
- 32:36any of the characters. I mean, my is the only one who,
- 32:38by virtue of her name is kind of shoehorned into a cultural or race identity.
- 32:45But everybody else can pretty much be, you know, whatever you imagine
- 32:47them to be. But in my head canon, you know, Maren is
- 32:52a black woman, and she's incredible. I love her dearly, and I
- 32:58just for some reason, I know it's not really your type Stevie as a
- 33:01person. I don't know, like a like a I don't know. I
- 33:06mean, like, yeah, I'm trying to say this without everything, trying
- 33:12to say this without being inoffensive to either you or go for it. But
- 33:15like, I didn't know if you would be into larger women I have been
- 33:21previously. Okay, good, good, Then I feel a little bit better.
- 33:23But it just seemed natural to me for some reason, that Jamie would
- 33:28be interested in Maren from the off. Yeah, and I feel like that's
- 33:32one of my favorite relationships in the book period. It's my favorite taking the
- 33:37hell out of both of them, uh and Maren and interestingly has a bigger
- 33:45role. Well, you both have a much bigger role in the sequel that
- 33:49I'm currently writing, So that's gonna be exciting. We don't know about it.
- 33:52Keep wanting more. Do you have Do you have another joke question for
- 33:58me? Yes? Five twenty Alright. It has been confirmed that you had
- 34:02hired Caroline, David and Stevie to voice act for your audiobook. Have you
- 34:07ever considered that you may have missed someone? Oh? Yes, absolutely.
- 34:14I wish with all my strength that I had thought back to the time when
- 34:17I was putting the book together that I absolutely could have gotten David Hater,
- 34:23actual, actual, actual contributor to our show. He appeared in episode seven
- 34:31contribute Damn, damn, we do a show all about your Oh yeah,
- 34:47I'm sorry, man, I'm just I got a follow up question wise,
- 34:57ass do you you recall how many words or novels? Yes? Seventy three
- 35:05thousand, three hundred and thirty six at last count. Did you ever consider
- 35:09it a stop sooner? Cold? Cold blooded? But cold blood? That
- 35:20is a lot of words. It is a lot of words. But I
- 35:22do believe one of the conditions of being hired as an actor was having finished
- 35:27the book. I mean, my rule that was. That was Aaron's rule.
- 35:32That is hilarious. I'm just gonna move on because otherwise we're gonna go
- 35:37so long anymore. That was really really funny. Oh good, that was
- 35:43really good. Dave, do you have another question for me? I absolutely
- 35:49do, But Stevie, I want to give you a chance. Oh he
- 35:52was going to get a chance, but he's all right, Stebe, you
- 35:53want to go first? No, I can go second. That's fine,
- 35:55all right, all right, okay, like not like George R. R.
- 36:00Martin. You this book contains lots of sumptuous descriptions of wonderful meals and
- 36:07food stuffs. So Aaron, I would like to know what would you order
- 36:12from VI if you succeeded in a check question? Such a good question surrounding
- 36:22no, that is, that is genuinely a good question. I did not
- 36:24even think about what I would. But you know what, there is one
- 36:27thing that I've wanted to have for ages and ages and ages, and I
- 36:30just haven't. I just haven't come across it, and I don't know how
- 36:32to make it. And I'm a I'm a man, so I'm too lazy
- 36:37to make it. That's that's that's kind of sexist. Sorry, So,
- 36:43uh, I'm a lazy bastard, is what I should say. So the
- 36:49best dessert I ever had in my life I got in a hospital cafeteria and
- 36:54it was when we were working at the VA and then out of nowhere,
- 36:59just just out of nowhere, one day they had like purchasable slices of caramel
- 37:07apple cheesecake. Oh God. And I was like, oh, this looks
- 37:10good. Let me try it. And I had it and I just about
- 37:14melted. I went back for seconds. I'm like, I need to have
- 37:16more. And the very next day they still had some, so I went
- 37:21and got some more. And the day after that they were gone and they
- 37:23never came back. All right, describe this to me because I'm wondering if
- 37:28maybe I can. It was. It was, and I'm not bullshitting you.
- 37:32Like a like a full cheesecake with lines of caramel running through it,
- 37:38and the ribbons ribbons of caramels between, and chinks of apple also inside,
- 37:45embedded inside, not just a topping embedded inside and on top of it.
- 37:50Both. It would be pretty easy to just like slice up some green apple,
- 37:57like get a frozen cheesecake. Yeah, slice up some green apple and
- 38:00then chocolate with caramel syrup if it's nuanced. If I was in that situation,
- 38:06just stuck in a place and no hope of escape, but I could
- 38:08get whatever I wanted to eat, I'd be like comfort food that yes,
- 38:14now, please, that's a good It was, yeah, but yeah,
- 38:16really good question. Really thanks for making me think about something I've never thought
- 38:21of before. Again, not to project too much into the mind of the
- 38:24author, but I have to imagine that every meal that you did describe is
- 38:29something that to you would be inherently delicious. Some of it, Yeah,
- 38:32I had to get I was. I tried to get a little fancier than
- 38:36I usually eat. For Ethan's particular, his favorite stuff that showed up at
- 38:39the end there, but he like chicken cordon blue and garlic butter rice,
- 38:45And I was like, oh, what do what do rich people eat?
- 38:46Like I'm just literally googling, like like I don't know, like Cava.
- 38:57I was trying to put over something a little bit more sophisticated because I felt
- 39:00like Ethan would have more of a sophisticated palette, so it's certainly more than
- 39:04I do. So anyway, Stevie, your question in this will round and
- 39:07the rest. Is it true? That thing too is actually titled Scooting through
- 39:15the Universe with You thain too. I'm thinking of renaming it now. No,
- 39:29actually, Aaron, I'm going to be real. I think that would
- 39:30fit a little. No, I already I already have a title in mind,
- 39:37and I'm I'm reluctant to spoil it here. But then that is a
- 39:44jingle that rights itself, Steve, it is sane to scooting through the Universe
- 39:50with you. No, I will say that I initially can I be the
- 39:55song in the movie when when I initially was putting together the idea of a
- 40:01book series, and it was like, I'm going to continue since I had
- 40:06come up with a book with a five letter title, I was thinking of
- 40:07following that up with the second book. The five letter word I would have
- 40:13chosen has already been used by another book. So I'm going to have to
- 40:15break out of that, I think. But I'm going to I'm going to
- 40:20do something a little bit different with a different language instead. No, but
- 40:24I'm not going to say anymore in that because the book's not even I'm not
- 40:28even finished with the first draft yet and still still working on it. We
- 40:30should have asked him what the second book was about. None of us thought
- 40:32about that. The answer, yeah, crap not Caroline hit me up after
- 40:43that. That is it, And I have to pick which one of those
- 40:51questions was my favorite. Damn. I mean, Augiet were really funny.
- 40:57Augiet were really funny. I really dug those questions with them. And I
- 41:00apologize for roasting you so hard with the second one. Genuinely feel a little
- 41:05bit. I feel like I got yet a little bit. I deserved it,
- 41:12I think, just for making me think about something I'd never thought of
- 41:16before, I have to give it to Dave. Yeah, yeah, well,
- 41:22I mean I love Caroline having me explore the relationships between the characters.
- 41:27I'm always down for talking about the relationships between my characters and whatnot. But
- 41:30I just never thought about what would I ask for if a similar situation.
- 41:35I literally never thought of it. So thank you Dave for pushing me onto
- 41:38my comfort zone. So that is one. Thank you for choosing me so
- 41:42that before I I was going to show some skin if it would sway your
- 41:45decision. Save round two? Right all right? Speaking of speaking of it's
- 41:50been a long round one. Let's let's get around two as fast as we
- 41:52can uh, Dave and Stevie up one point, Caroline and Augie can catch
- 41:58up. We're gonna play game two. Would were two points coming up right

- 43:50welcome back. It is time for game two. Game two is going to
- 43:55be the voice acting challenge. I have here. I have here a few
- 44:02short passages of the worst monologues you have ever seen, and I'm going to
- 44:08have our non voice actors Stevie and Augy. Oh sorry, it's gonna say
- 44:15have you do you turn pro and not tell me? Day one. Day
- 44:17one, they're gonna give their best vocal performance in a style of my choosing.
- 44:28Their partner will then have to coach them to improve their performance, and
- 44:31they will perform it a second time. I'll give your second performance a score
- 44:36of one to five points, and the team with the most points after two
- 44:39readings each will win the challenge and earn two episode points. So Caroline and
- 44:45Augy, you guys are behind. So I'll give you the choice. Do
- 44:49you want to go first or would you rather go second? Are we alternating?
- 44:53You are alternating, We'll go second. I'm gonna go second. Okay.
- 44:57In that case, we're gonna start right. Yeah, we're gonna start
- 45:00with Dave and Stevie. And Stevie go ahead and get your first monologue ready.
- 45:07This is a monologue from the movie Jelie from two thousand and three,
- 45:12and I would like you to read this monologue as if you are a strung
- 45:15out meth fiend. Man. You know what I love to do. Right
- 45:25now, go down to Marie Calendars. Give me a big bull pie,
- 45:30some ice cream on it? Good? Put some on your head. Your
- 45:35tongue would slap your brains out trying to get to it. Interested. Sure,
- 45:40Okay. After hearing that dialogue, I think I've seen some nodding and
- 45:46some some some vocal I like it. I like what I'm hearing already.
- 45:52Stevie. Now all right, David, tell you what what this need is.
- 45:57So you're already that with theency, Yes, you you clearly got the
- 46:02met those methamphetamines are crossing real vein forward, propelling you forward. What I
- 46:12feel would push it out of the top, is if all right? Uh
- 46:16so yeah yeah, no, hesitation, urgency, and the other. So
- 46:27visualize these things very clearly in your head. See that pie. I imagine
- 46:31it looking like Aaron's cheesecake. If you can visualize that clearly, then the
- 46:38words flow out because you're just describing what you're already seeing, right, you
- 46:43are seeing it on top of their head with that tongue coming out, slapping
- 46:46them in the face trying to get to it. So you're just describing something
- 46:52that has clearly already happened, and that makes perfect sense to you. So
- 46:54it is urgent that you get these words out to describe these things that you're
- 46:59envisioning because you need to share these things because it needs to happen. So
- 47:04up the urgency and see imagine it really clearly. Can you do that?
- 47:07Can you do that for me? I believe I got this. I think
- 47:09I got this all right. I think you've gone it. Take control.
- 47:14M h man. You know what I love to do right now, Go
- 47:19down to reclendars, give me a big pie, some ice cream on it.
- 47:23Good. Put some well, man, sorry, let me redo that
- 47:28real quick. Take it back, take it back. Let's get that twitch
- 47:36hit. He's gonna get a chiropractor after this. Oh here. Third tip,
- 47:43don't worry about the twitch. Control the twitch. The twitch is uncontrolled,
- 47:49so you need to summon the strength because the pie is more important.
- 47:52Focus on the pie. Yeah, yeah, man, you know what I
- 47:57love to do right now, go down to Reclendar. Give me a big
- 48:00pie. Oh sorry, damn it, I need a bigger phone next time.
- 48:08Man, you know what I like to do right now, go down
- 48:10to Marie Calendars. Give me a big bull pie. Some ice cream on
- 48:15it? Good, put some on your head. Your tongue would slap your
- 48:19brains trying to get to it. Interested. Sure, the giggle at the
- 48:27end really sold it. Bravo, bravo, bravo. I will give the
- 48:32points at the end of the pass. All right, So let's switch over
- 48:36to Caroline and augiug let me just pull this up on my phone. Yeah,
- 48:42I'm doing or doing the first monologue. Okay, and Augie, your
- 48:45monologue is from the movie Gore I from nineteen eighty eight. Time I would
- 48:53like you to read this. I would like you to read this as an
- 48:58angry Karen speaking to a manager. Oh god, I apologize in advance.
- 49:08What did you offer him? Freedom? But he is my prisoner to be
- 49:14handled as I so wish. Get out of here. Get out of here,
- 49:16you disgusting worm. Very good, great, very good. So Aggie,
- 49:24here is what I liked about your performance. I thought you really encapsulated
- 49:29the soul in the spirit of a Karen. Very very well. So great
- 49:31job. It's called fifteen years of retail relatable. So Aaron said that you're
- 49:43speaking to the manager, I just need you to like imagine, Okay,
- 49:49do it again. And then when you're doing this again, I want you
- 49:52to imagine that there's like a crowd of like ten people surrounding the manager,
- 49:55and you need to make sure that you are the Karen that is being heard
- 50:00right now. And so maybe there's someone talking over you. Maybe you know
- 50:02that, how does that noise and that environment influence and then heighten maybe the
- 50:07performance and the volume. So try it, but a little more like,
- 50:12oh, I have to like make sure I am the one who has heard
- 50:14and yeah, damn it, that's good direction. Okay, never going to
- 50:20win this or not. Might sound like the same. Uh just remember you
- 50:28have to be heard. You have to be heard over things on the muscles.
- 50:30You must be heard, all right, whenever you're ready. Okay mm
- 50:35hmm, what did you offer him? Freedom? But he is my prisoner
- 50:43to be handled his eyes, so wish get out of here. Get out
- 50:46of here, you disgusting worm. Okay, Yeah, I like that.
- 50:53There was definitely a new energy there, improvements on both sides. I feel
- 51:04like I feel like Agie your your your performance was very good. There's a
- 51:07couple of things I would have I would have liked you to have actually liked
- 51:12the movie kind of just focused on that last word, made made worm a
- 51:15little bit more prominent. You disgusting worm. Kind of like that. Yeah.
- 51:22Yeah, uh so I'm gonna go I'm gonna give you four points out
- 51:25of a maximum five. STEVIEE. I liked your performance. I didn't feel
- 51:30like it improved all that much from the first one. It felt very similar.
- 51:34I like it. I actually, I know, I know Dave's direction
- 51:40was to make it more urgent. I actually would have slowed down a little
- 51:45bit just in certain places, just because you were you were rushing through,
- 51:52like especially like the second half. Yeah, but but having said that,
- 51:55like I did like the urgency and you did very well, so I'm gonna
- 51:59give you three points. It's cool, cool, all right. So it
- 52:01is four to three in favor of Caroline and Augie at the moment. But
- 52:05that's okay, I'll bring it back. There's another there's another monologue we're gonna
- 52:07do. Dave and Stevie. You get the choice now, because you're behind.
- 52:13Would you like to go first this time? Or would you like to
- 52:15go second? Steve? I think we should let them. Yeah, yeah,
- 52:19let's turn it on them. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. All
- 52:22right, So Caroline and Augie you are gonna go first. So this is
- 52:25second monologue. Wait can I can I just say something to Augie before we
- 52:30even receive anything. Yeah, okay, Augie, I need you to like,
- 52:35let go just like just don't don't worry about being perceived, okay,
- 52:39okay, invisible, just jump in. You're jumping ahead, jumping ahead of
- 52:45the coaching. Let's let him do his thing and you know, let improve
- 52:52it afterwards. That's the whole point of the case. I asked, and
- 52:59you said, yeah, I did, But I didn't know you were going
- 53:01to be coaching anyway. Ogi. So here is your monologue. It's second
- 53:07monologue. This is a monologue from Zardas from nineteen seventy four, and I
- 53:15want you to read this as a drunk barfly trying to pick up a disinterested
- 53:21patron. He Zarda speaks to you his chosen ones. You've been raised up
- 53:35from brutality to kill the brutals who multiply, and our legion to this end,
- 53:43Zardas, your God gave you the gift of the gun. The gun
- 53:49is good. Yeah, The penis is evil. The penis shoots seeds and
- 53:57makes new life and poisons the earth with a plague of man as once it
- 54:02was. But the gun shoots death and purifies the earth of the filth of
- 54:10the brutals. Go forth and kill. Okay, Aggie, First of all,
- 54:19excellent performance than you, and I want to congratulate you on your improving
- 54:24Continue to do that. Thank you so many good things already. Okay,
- 54:30here's what I'm thinking with this. You're drunk, You're in a bar talking
- 54:34to this girl a couple things. When you're talking about the gun. What
- 54:39is that? It could be anything. It could be her boobies, it
- 54:43could be it could be like I don't know like her guns, you know,
- 54:49but just think of like what that means to your character as he's talking,
- 54:53right, make that more specific. And then the other thing, which
- 54:57is going to be kind of similar to the last note I gave you,
- 54:59is it mad? And where you are You're in a really loud bar.
- 55:01Probably it's like a Saturday night. You've probably had like nine drinks at this
- 55:06point, and your hammers complete and love to be loud or bring them really
- 55:13close. Yeah, give us a little question for walking approach distance of proximity
- 55:21to this person. So you could be yelling at them at Perston and be
- 55:23like hey, hey, come and then like talk yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 55:29I think I got it. You got it. Whenever you're ready,
- 55:32all right, Hey speaks to you his chosen ones. You have been raised
- 55:45up from brutashity to kill the brutals who multiply, and our legion to this
- 55:54end, Zardas your God gave you the gift of a gun. The gun
- 56:09is good. It's good, it's God h The penis is evil. The
- 56:20penis shoots seeds and makes new life and poisons the The penis is evil and
- 56:37shoots seeds, makes new life and poisons the earth with a plague of men
- 56:45as once it was. But the gun is good, very good. But
- 56:51the gun shoots death and purifies the earth that the filth of brutals go fucking
- 57:00kill? What is my drag? Okay? That was excellent? All right,
- 57:12sir, I will save the score for the end of the past.
- 57:15Wow, Dave and Stevie, I'm scared. No, no, no,
- 57:21no, no fear. Your second monologue is a joyful classic, and I'm
- 57:28sure that Dave recognized it as soon as I send it to him. This
- 57:30is a monologue from Street Fighter from nineteen ninety four. Yes, and I
- 57:37would like you to read your second monologue as though you are losing confidence until
- 57:42there's nothing left awesome. It's like the beginning of my work weeks. Okay,
- 57:51oh, relatable troopers. I have just received new orders. Our superior
- 58:04say the words canceled, and we can all go home. Bison is getting
- 58:08paid off for his crimes, and our friends will have died here. We'll
- 58:14have died here for nothing, but we can all go home. Meanwhile,
- 58:21ideas like peace, freedom and justice they get packed up, but we can
- 58:28all go home. Well, I'm not going home. I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 58:34get on my boat and I'm gonna go up river and I'm gonna kick some
- 58:40that son of a bitch Bison's ass so hard. Yeah, the next time
- 58:49the next Bison want to be is gonna feel it? Now? Who wants
- 58:53to go home? Who wants to go with me? All right? All
- 59:00right, stee, We've got a solid foundation here. I'm gonna tell you
- 59:06two things, all right. Number one, I think that Aaron's directly what
- 59:12Aaron's asking you to do here. I think it's gonna come through a lot
- 59:14clearer if we can play this as a person for whom maybe English is not
- 59:19their first language. Maybe someone maybe imagine this is a Belgian actors who's doing
- 59:25this, and and you know, I know that Belgian is a difficult accent
- 59:30to pull off. So if you want to just think pepe lapew, just
- 59:34pepe lapew this whole thing, that's what I would say, all right,
- 59:37pepel pw. And secondly, secondly, now Aaron wants you to to like
- 59:46like feel some hopelessness in despair. Right increasingly now I can tell that your
- 59:52inclination was to sort of let the hopelessness sink you into a decline. I'm
- 59:57gonna say opposite. Let the hopelessness get worse, and so you have to
- 1:00:00fight harder against it. And so by the end you're really just trying to
- 1:00:07wicked please the coast me And also that one of the people is international pop
- 1:00:16star Kylie Minogue and you want to impress her, so go with that.
- 1:00:21Oh yeah, I can't do the exit. This is going to be the
- 1:00:30hardest part. This is pebulo puchee. Don't linger on it, don't linger
- 1:00:35on, just push through troopers. I have just received no orders Superior say
- 1:00:47the war is canceled and we all can go home. Bius is getting paid
- 1:00:54off for his crimes, and our friends have died here. We'll have died
- 1:01:00for nothing, but we can go home. Meanwhile, ideas like peace,
- 1:01:08freedom of justice, they get backed up, but we can all go home.
- 1:01:16Well, I'm not going home. I want to get off my boat,
- 1:01:22but I'm gonna go on the river. Kick this out of a pitch
- 1:01:27Bison. That's so hard. The next Bison to be is gonna feel it.
- 1:01:39Now. Who wants to go home? Who wants to go home with
- 1:01:43me? Oh? Standing ovation, That was excellent work. Oh phenomenal work.
- 1:01:59Recording goes to man, it means my job so much harder. Right,
- 1:02:07good good thing, I mean good direction though, man went out the
- 1:02:10direction your your improvisation was awesome. I feel like you only went over the
- 1:02:16top at the end when you fell asleep. That was brilliant. I was
- 1:02:22I was ready to doc you if you did that a second time, but
- 1:02:25you wisely only did it once and you didn't go back that far either,
- 1:02:29which was good. But uh, I mean that was a tour de force
- 1:02:35like that was Yeah, thank you. I I'm gonna give Stevie five points
- 1:02:43and Augie four points, which unfortunately means we have ended in a draw.
- 1:02:52So uh, in the interest of fairness, both teams will receive two points
- 1:02:57and d Stevie half Caroline and Augie have two points. But Game three,
- 1:03:04our final game, is gonna be worth three points and that is going to
- 1:03:07decide it. And we're gonna play that game when we come back. Right
- 1:03:10after this, we're gonna go over some comments and email we got from our
- 1:03:23listeners and Patreon members. Let's start with comments. What do we got?
- 1:03:30Yeah, we got a bunch of things actually on Patreon. I jumped on
- 1:03:34last week and then I jumped back hot today and there was so many I
- 1:03:37had to like copy and paste a bunch of stuff onto a document instead of
- 1:03:39having to go to each tab. So the first one is gonna be from
- 1:03:45the Make It Worse The Godfather TikTok we put up. We put it up
- 1:03:50as free on our Patreon, and on that one we got William man is
- 1:03:54saying the movie is just about freedom. Yes, I love to It Worst
- 1:04:03like so many people. Yeah, that's genius. I've commented so much on
- 1:04:08the Make It Worse, like everybody loves it. The next one is on
- 1:04:13the BFO right, next one's on the BFY two w break uh we got
- 1:04:19William came back. He said, oh my god, oggie, it must
- 1:04:23be something in the air. I'm playing the New Vegas right now and was
- 1:04:26thinking about playing Skyrim next. I think it's I think it was that show
- 1:04:30that came out. I think that's what probably bit me in the ass,
- 1:04:33the Fallout show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and we just got into
- 1:04:36episode three. We just finished yeah three of it. Yeah, so it's
- 1:04:41good. I'm enjoying it. I really am like it's it's goofy. It's
- 1:04:45definitely makes me want to play the games. Yes, yeah, like it
- 1:04:48really does. I'm going to reinstall New Vegas again. I played Skyrim or
- 1:04:51not scrim Cyberpunk because I'm like, oh, I kind of want to play
- 1:04:55Fallout, but I don't have it installed. They have this installed. It
- 1:04:58worked for twenty minutes, and I'm like, now I gotta put Vegas pecon.
- 1:05:01I mean, New Vegas is the ship. It's so good. Yeah,
- 1:05:04and this is not the only person who wanted to talk to us about
- 1:05:08Fallout. Kyla, a regular contributor to the show, called sent me a
- 1:05:14DM asking if we were going to do, like if we were going to
- 1:05:17do any like Fallout stuff, and I was like, oh, we don't
- 1:05:20have anything planned, but you know, you never know. If you want
- 1:05:24to come on the show, we can work it out. So we're trying
- 1:05:26to schedule bring Kyla back, So maybe that'll happen. It'd be fun we
- 1:05:30do a Fallout show, specifically Fallout episode. It'd be fun. I think
- 1:05:33we would know enough to get by. Yeah, you'd be down for that.
- 1:05:36I'll fall Out episode. Yeah, awesome. We got another comment on
- 1:05:41there. You want to read that one? Yeah? This in buire our
- 1:05:43boy Colin, Colin Mags guys never feel bad about doing a chill show because
- 1:05:48one, you guys work hard and entertain us for free, and even more
- 1:05:53so if you pay a little. This is true. This is true.
- 1:05:58And two, the chill shows aren't joryable in their own right, even comparably,
- 1:06:02I lost my place good as the og show. For me, it's
- 1:06:05like I'm sitting with friends, bullshitting about what's going on in life, and
- 1:06:10when one friend suffers with baked brain and the other is a mischievous joy goblin,
- 1:06:15the laugh sar punt, the full that is accurate. Truth doesn't matter
- 1:06:19which one of you is the goblin. No, it really doesn't, right,
- 1:06:23it goes back and forth. I'll tell the world we we are do
- 1:06:28a chill show, but unfortunately we still have a couple more guest shows signed
- 1:06:32up, so it's gonna be a little while before we can actually have a
- 1:06:35It's kind of nice. I know, I feel bad for Mexican because he's
- 1:06:39got he made us such great theme songs, but we also don't want to
- 1:06:43be like he's coming in on the tail end of a run of like seven
- 1:06:45or eight episodes in a row where we've just had constant games. Yeah,
- 1:06:49haven't. We haven't had any time to relax or chill or slow down or
- 1:06:53any of it. So this is gonna be an interesting show. It will
- 1:06:59be fun. Yeah, we might be like petering out, like just starting
- 1:07:02to break down. So I got right chill show every now and then,
- 1:07:06just to relax if nothing else. It's like a mini vacation. Yeah.
- 1:07:10Yeah, so but yeah, we've we've gone for a long time without one
- 1:07:14at this point, so longer than I thought it was too. And I
- 1:07:16look back at the calendar, I'm like, wow, we've been doing guests.
- 1:07:19We've been running NonStop, we've been running hot. Yeah. So I
- 1:07:24mean that's good. That means our our content creation is like up and running.
- 1:07:28The engine is working right. Yeah, it is a show about having
- 1:07:33fun with friends. Yes, exactly. Why not? It works? It
- 1:07:39just works. Next comment it was on show two nine dozes fur mug from
- 1:07:46Colin Meggs. Great episode, guys, and another stellar round of make it
- 1:07:51worse, Aggie. What an offer you can review? Oh my god,
- 1:07:58it's so good kiss or that one's perfection. And as for the b F
- 1:08:02Y t W board slash card game, I think this is a very game
- 1:08:06that would be a winner if you could, if you could develop it,
- 1:08:10I reckon it could help the top cards against me. Oh my god,
- 1:08:14I think I mean fun. I think it really cosible. And the fact
- 1:08:18you can make your own rules of the game, like you have your blank
- 1:08:20cards here, didn't cost us anything to print those. Yeah, we could
- 1:08:27do like separate decks. We could have like one deck of make it Worse
- 1:08:29cards and it just flip over and it's something awesome. You could have like
- 1:08:34a deck of cards for like you know, I don't know rules. No,
- 1:08:40I was gonna say the the what's what's the fucking game? We played
- 1:08:44block like share block, Like, yeah, you're the one that made them
- 1:08:48up. I know you couldn't find them because that itself. Yeah, it
- 1:08:53is just like cards like where they're choose whoever is is choosing that, flip
- 1:08:57it over and have like one person decide for themselves to write it down somewhere,
- 1:09:00and then the others try and guess what they think. You got like
- 1:09:02chips to say, like share a block, you turn them upside down,
- 1:09:04you put them on the thing, and it's you got your color. So
- 1:09:06you know, they could just be like news stories from across like the last
- 1:09:11ten years or so, like just I mean, it's news, it's not,
- 1:09:15it's not. I can't really copyright news. So we go to the
- 1:09:18library. I got a card catalog. This bitch up, man, we
- 1:09:25gotta figure out the news class ten years. No, I don't watch news,
- 1:09:29all right, Do we have more? Yep? Yep, Oh yeah
- 1:09:33we got uh. I got a comment on the episode Augie Stories, which
- 1:09:41I've not listened to myself, so I don't even remember what the fuck I
- 1:09:45was talking about. So the Augie Stories is when you were reading the HP
- 1:09:48Lovecraft. Oh yeah, okay, so it's a bonus content thing that I
- 1:09:55edited together. I found a bunch of audio and this is like October of
- 1:10:00last year, sitting there reading stuff. It was awesome. He did an
- 1:10:04episode, well, he did like an hour recording when I wasn't here.
- 1:10:09Wow, I don't remember it. So yeah, it's him doing like just
- 1:10:13readings and having fun for like a half hour or something. But Kristen left
- 1:10:18us a comment on this particular episode, why is Augie's voice so soothing?
- 1:10:25Love it? You don't have to lie Tony like that? You know,
- 1:10:29it's funny. When I looked at the comment, I thought it said why
- 1:10:31is Aggie's boice so soothing? Damn it? Like? Yeah, I thought
- 1:10:38it was. At first I thought it was soothing, and I thought it
- 1:10:40was too loud. I'm like, I think she must spelled something there.
- 1:10:45No, she she put soothing. What else we got? We got another
- 1:10:50one from show number two eleven, The Fink Show Overpassed. What a great
- 1:10:55show. It was so good. Well you had to be part of like
- 1:11:02the Patriot to get the fucking We kept the running joke going throughout the whole
- 1:11:08episode. Yeah, we're never gonna pass go through an overpass up there about
- 1:11:14the brain down or comment on heres from Colin Meggs. Great episode, Love
- 1:11:23the Fink Show guests Gita and John are just awesome. Love to finish,
- 1:11:28love to finish the story and got some fun info as I can't read that
- 1:11:32well this expansion of Stevie's mime on the radio answer in the Okay, there
- 1:11:40was a guy called Peter Brow or Brow who was a big radio star and
- 1:11:45his act was ventriloquism. Yes, he stood in the booth with his puppet
- 1:11:49Archie doing his act and people loved it so much, in fact that when
- 1:11:55TV took off the BBC game a sitcom called Here's Archie. The only problem
- 1:11:59was he was a terrible but trillerist and he basically spoke normally with his lips
- 1:12:04plainly. Oh my god, that fantastic on the radio. I mean really,
- 1:12:18it's genius. Like the dude captured it at the perfect time. It
- 1:12:23was like I got a steady paycheck. He gotta think that that's why he
- 1:12:27failed is because he went on the radio and it didn't matter whether his lips
- 1:12:30moved or not. So he's like, fuck it, I'm just gonna fucking
- 1:12:34do you think he started out like legit, like he actually practiced. He
- 1:12:39was like all hyped about it. He went to interview and he did it.
- 1:12:42His lips didn't even fucking vibrate, right, He's doing the whole thing,
- 1:12:45and they're like hired on the spot. And after like week two he's
- 1:12:48like, Yo, nobody's paying attention to me on here. Fuck it,
- 1:12:53Like, I'm just gonna do it. What are you gonna do? I'm
- 1:12:55on the radio. When the TV show came around, he went, oh
- 1:12:58crap, I forgot how to do all that stuff. I've been doing this
- 1:13:01on the radio for so long. It's oh no, he hasn't had to
- 1:13:04do with that, and so long. You're ready for the you're ready for
- 1:13:08the first taping. I let's just do it live, dude, don't worry
- 1:13:10if I will we find all right? Do we have anything else? Thanks
- 1:13:15Colin much appreciate it, my brother, Oh we do, my goodness,
- 1:13:18it's it's rocking, my goodness. What do we got from episode two twelve?
- 1:13:24The eighties music? That's my video es music? Hell then? Heck
- 1:13:29yeah, so David m I had the because you were talking about the computer.
- 1:13:32Oh yeah, yeah, so he said. I had the t I
- 1:13:35ninety nine four Alpha back in the day, first sixteen bit system, I
- 1:13:40believe, not like they could take advantage of that. Back then, I
- 1:13:44was selling Oh it was selling for fifty dollars near the end of end in
- 1:13:48order to sell games. What was your favorite game, mister Pantils. I
- 1:13:53loved Tunnels of Doom. Oh you used an old school tape break Oh gee,
- 1:14:00the old school taper car is diss drive as well as the cartridge great
- 1:14:03game and sound effect. Yeah that thing had tons of add ons. I
- 1:14:06think it even had like a speech add on, like a speech synthesizer add
- 1:14:12on. Really it was wild the tnfore I hit a bunch of stuff.
- 1:14:15I did not have the tape recorder add on, sadly, so I couldn't
- 1:14:17have played tunnelst Doom even if I had it. But I remember amazing which
- 1:14:24was uh Dash Maize Dash Eye Energy, and it was basically just it was
- 1:14:30basically just. It was basically just solving mazes. But you were a mouse
- 1:14:36being chased by a cat. Oh cool? Was there cheese at the end?
- 1:14:41Yes, like a little If you successfully got out of the maze,
- 1:14:44the mouse would get the cheese. Cool, But you had to somehow get
- 1:14:47past the cat like that was the fun part, Like solving the maze was
- 1:14:50like eh, But the fact was like you had to literally like dipsy doodle
- 1:14:54around this cat, Like you had to lead him down one way and then
- 1:14:57go around him so that you could use the exit path to get the hell
- 1:15:00out, and he would chase you around. He would would follow you around.
- 1:15:03I lost as much as I want on that game, and I really
- 1:15:06did enjoy it quite a lot, even though it was just a simple maze
- 1:15:09game. But the choices were limited back then, Like really, right,
- 1:15:13yeah, there's not that much you could do education there was there was a
- 1:15:16pac Man clone that I really liked. I think it was called munch Man.
- 1:15:21And if I recall, I think there was a math educational title that
- 1:15:27I kind of liked. I don't remember the name of it, but I
- 1:15:29seem to recall there being one that I knew you would solve math math problems
- 1:15:33and it would like, I don't know, kill enemies are destroyed like a
- 1:15:35wizard, something like that. I don't remember it was. It was weird.
- 1:15:41I wished, I wished an and just endlessly wish that the freaking math
- 1:15:46pac Man game from Square one would come to actual video game consoles, and
- 1:15:51it never did. It was so mad. I was a little kid.
- 1:15:56But yeah, no, I didn't get a chance to play Tunnels of Doom.
- 1:15:58It sounds awesome though, and I really did love the hell out of
- 1:16:00that t on Internet four A. We still have more the more it was
- 1:16:06another shit I looked today and it was more holy crap, All right,
- 1:16:10what do we got so from the same episode or the two twelve eighties music?
- 1:16:13That's why CAZy I love this one. I was born in nineteen eighty
- 1:16:18nine and love the eighties music. Also, Augie does a fantastic Arnold Swartz
- 1:16:23and Air. Thank you, thank you very much. Oh it's so good.
- 1:16:30That's great. And then finally we got an email as well. Oh
- 1:16:34okay, yeah, so this is from William M again. Okay. Had
- 1:16:40a game. Oh I don't know if you want, well, we can
- 1:16:42get it. Sure, it's my turn. Yeah. Hey, guys,
- 1:16:44had a game idea while watching Cats does countdown that instead of Carrott in a
- 1:16:47box, how about Joint in a box and Stevie in the John Richardson spothst
- 1:16:53guests witchboxes the joint and Augie or a guest has to try and fool him
- 1:16:57in the Sean lockspot. I hope you like get yet so true story Bill.
- 1:17:01Way back in the early days of b FY tw podcast when we started
- 1:17:05out, that was our tiebreaker. It came down to a tie. For
- 1:17:13every episode. I brought along some object. It was it was called Aaron's
- 1:17:17Junk in a Box. Yes, I would pick something from my house,
- 1:17:23something random and weird to put into a box. And I had two of
- 1:17:27these boxes that were very similar. But but you know, in size and
- 1:17:31shape and all that, so it would never be a huge thing. It
- 1:17:34was usually pretty small, but it was things from like like a weird pen
- 1:17:39that I found to like an entire handheld game system. I was like,
- 1:17:45what, So to resolve the tie, we would play Eron's Junk in a
- 1:17:50Box several of those early episodes that have that as the tiebreaker, so when
- 1:17:56teams would go three to three, instead of just calling it a draw,
- 1:17:59we would actually play it out and have them play Aaron's Junk. God,
- 1:18:05I forgot we should bring it back. You know that'd be fun. I
- 1:18:09do like kind of like the idea of joy in the Box only get to
- 1:18:12smoke it if you win. The universe has to sit outside not have any
- 1:18:15and guy has to watch you smoke the whole thing. That's what I'll watch
- 1:18:23and make you do it. Really, it's gonna be funnier as though,
- 1:18:27because we'll be smoking throughout the entire show anyway. So like when we go
- 1:18:30to do that, whoever does it just passes out like I'm going to bed.
- 1:18:33They won. I guess, Oh, I feel sick. Guys.
- 1:18:40You know the winner On a theoretical level, I like it, but just
- 1:18:43from the culture weed standpoint where everybody just shares it work. But but will
- 1:18:48you absolutely go back and check out some of our early episodes, I want
- 1:18:51to hear some of them were really funny and then so it was just a
- 1:18:56good one. Some just kind of just like nope, taking it. It
- 1:19:01started to prove really difficult. After you played it a bunch of times,
- 1:19:04you could just start to read the other person and know what exactly what.
- 1:19:10Switching it up makes a big It makes it a lot easier. So anyway,
- 1:19:15yeah, thanks for this emission. We'll always take ideas for for games
- 1:19:18and things to cover during games. But yeah, I think that's it.
- 1:19:23So let's get back to the show. Hey man, welcome back. It's
- 1:19:36time for game three of our Thane audiobook celebration episode. And I thought we
- 1:19:43could have a little fun with a game that I've quote unquote borrowed from the
- 1:19:46gate Leapers. It's gonna be called Fine zero Escape or something else. Repay.
- 1:19:57Oh my god, is it Sarah? Anyway? Sorry, Hi Sarah.
- 1:20:01Okay, So I'll just briefly go over the game. Thane takes a
- 1:20:06lot of inspiration from the visual novel slash escape room simulator game series Zero Escape.
- 1:20:14But can you tell the difference. I've got ten lines here, and
- 1:20:17all you have to do is tell me whether they come from Thane zero Escape
- 1:20:24or something else entirely, and I'm gonna have a different third option for every
- 1:20:29single line. Oh boy, to confuse matters even further great, I wanted
- 1:20:35to have Seth MacFarlane read all of the lines as Peter Griffin from Family Guy
- 1:20:41for almost no reason other than it would be absurd, But as of course,
- 1:20:45mister McFarland is very busy, and also we couldn't afford him if we
- 1:20:48tried, so instead, I've asked Casey p from Fiver to do his best
- 1:20:55Peter Griffin impression as he reads the lines. The team who gets the most
- 1:21:00correct after all ten lines wins the game and gets three episode points. So
- 1:21:05this will decide it, all, right, So you're both out. You're
- 1:21:12both gonna guess. Each team is going to get a guess as to whether
- 1:21:15they think it belongs to Thane zero Escape or the third thing that I will
- 1:21:18say what it is after every line, and you'll alternate who goes first and
- 1:21:25who goes second each time. So team who goes first, be careful about
- 1:21:29what you give away as you give your answer. Yeah, so I'm trying
- 1:21:33to convince the other team that's a good idea. Yeah. Having said that,
- 1:21:36Caroline and Augie, you guys are currently behind. So I will give
- 1:21:40you the choice. Would you like to go first on the first one or
- 1:21:43would you like to go second? And you'll alternate back and forth over the
- 1:21:46lines. I think we should go second, Aggie second. Yeah, okay,
- 1:21:51then Dave and Cebe you will answer first, and here is your first
- 1:21:57line. Augie, Okay, please play track one right now. Our primary
- 1:22:01goal should be to gather as much information as possible, and we've ejusted about
- 1:22:05all will get from this hallway. I swear that, I swear that one.
- 1:22:18I swear that that's from the book. What do you think? I
- 1:22:21was going to say the exact same thing. It was within the first few
- 1:22:24chance I was going to say before I think I remember, before you make
- 1:22:27up your mind, let me tell you. Does this belong to Thine zero
- 1:22:30Escape or Clue? The movie from nineteen eighty five? Oh that's such a
- 1:22:35good movie. Good movie. I mean, I see how it could be
- 1:22:40from either of those, but I feel like I remember it. I'm pretty
- 1:22:45sure man pretty was in the book, though I think it was the first
- 1:22:49couple of chapters of the book. I think so. But we're up against
- 1:22:53someone who proofread the booky multiple times, exactly what Aaron said that we shouldn't
- 1:23:01give away like something. No, I think it's from THO. She will
- 1:23:03know better than I heard of us. So I think it's from the book.
- 1:23:06Would you agree? Yes? Okay, So you guys are saying it's
- 1:23:10from Thane. Correct. Okay, Carolina and AUGI, what do you say
- 1:23:14it's from Thane? You think so? I'm pretty sure? Okay, Go.
- 1:23:19I haven't read the book fully yet, and I don't think it was
- 1:23:23in clue. Yeah, I don't think. Yeah. Okay, So Caroline
- 1:23:27and Augi, you are also going with Thane, and that will give both
- 1:23:30teams a point. It is from Thing. To be specific, it is
- 1:23:35Ethan speaking in chapter three, so you probably actually did read it. But
- 1:23:41okay, yeah, I probably forgot it because there's probably a month or two
- 1:23:45ago. Yeah, fair enough, Okay, so good first go let's move
- 1:23:48on to the second line, and this time, Carolina and AUGI you will
- 1:23:53answer first. OGGI played track two when someone betrayed she trushed. It feels
- 1:23:59like a how do you die? For me? I guess it was the
- 1:24:02part that kid is this line from Thane zero Escape or the movie Juno from
- 1:24:11two thousand and seven. Such a good movie. Okay, yeah, I
- 1:24:18didn't think he'd say that. Third one. I think it's insane. I
- 1:24:26do think it issane. Ah. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna go with
- 1:24:32your gut feeling on this because actually, do you like how good? How
- 1:24:36vast is your Juno knowledge? Hockey? Not vast enough? I know Juno
- 1:24:42is uh a movie. It's a movie, right? What's her face and
- 1:24:46what's his face? Michael Sarah and Elliott Page? Yeah those guys. I
- 1:24:54only know the one guy from Scott Filder. Yeah, but the there is
- 1:25:00part of you that this could be Juno too. Are we allowed to hear
- 1:25:02it again? Yeah? Go ahead and play track two a second time.
- 1:25:06When someone betrays she trushed, it feels like a part of it dies for
- 1:25:11me. I guess it was the part that cad that's to you now?
- 1:25:16Yeah? Okay, do you know it is all right? So you're saying
- 1:25:20Juno? Yeah, Dave and Stevie, what do you say? That's messed
- 1:25:25up? As I thought it was Juno. I've only seen that movie once
- 1:25:27and it was like right when it came out. But I want points.
- 1:25:31But Caroline knows Thane better, so I don't know, what do you think?
- 1:25:35All right? At first, I totally thought Caroline was trying to mess
- 1:25:40with us by saying it was from Fay and trying to like incept into our
- 1:25:44minds that it was from the book again, because she's the textual expert on
- 1:25:47this book, right, So I feel like that was a fake out.
- 1:25:53But also that dialogue reads very Diablo Cody to me, uh, because I'm
- 1:26:00I again, I haven't rewatched Juno a million times, but I am familiar
- 1:26:03with a lot of Diablo Cody's work, and that feels very diabolt. It
- 1:26:08feels like a Diablo Cody thing to say, more than like a localized Japanese
- 1:26:14game text would, so I am also I also feel pretty strongly that it's
- 1:26:18got to be from Juno. I concur what do you think? Have I
- 1:26:21convinced you? Yes, you did? And the okay, both teams are
- 1:26:27going with Juno. Correct in that case, nobody gets a point. No,
- 1:26:33this is from zero Escape. This is five saying two sigma in Virtue's
- 1:26:41last reward. I haven't played it well. Sorry. I am pleased that
- 1:26:49I picked a movie that seemed like that could be a line from it,
- 1:26:53though, So let's let's move on. You're still We're gonna move on to
- 1:26:58line number three, and this time, Dave and Cebee you'll be going first,
- 1:27:01So I'll go ahead and play track three. I've had it with them,
- 1:27:05I've had it with you, I've had it with all this. I
- 1:27:09want room servish? Is this line from Fame Zero Escape or the movie Johnny
- 1:27:17Namonic from nineteen ninety five? Man, now I know what I'm gonna choose
- 1:27:23for my movie night right TV? Stevie. What do you think here?
- 1:27:28Brother? Any strong feelings? God? I wish it was in the same
- 1:27:31but I don't know. I don't remember. No, it's definitely not that
- 1:27:35I would have remembered that line. I think, what's there? What's the
- 1:27:40what's the second thing? Zero Escape? Zero Escape series of video games which
- 1:27:45I don't know either, A wildly popular game that only Aaron has played.
- 1:27:51Keeps saying these games are popular, yet I've ever heard of any of them.
- 1:27:55They've got a fan base, I know, yeah, you me.
- 1:28:02My inclination is I think it's from zero Escape because that does sound like good
- 1:28:06like visual novel dialogue. But but since the last one was just zero escape?
- 1:28:15Is he changing it up? Like now this is the third question?
- 1:28:16Isn't going to be from the movie. I don't know. Oh, Aaron's
- 1:28:19big on just like screwing with you? Which answer to blows last too?
- 1:28:23He'll do, He'll like triple up on stuff. I'm really second guessing my
- 1:28:27gut here. So what do you think escape for Johnny mnemonic? It feels
- 1:28:33a little too flippant for Johnny Namonic. Let's go zero escape. Let's go
- 1:28:38zero escape. Okay, so you're going with zero escape? Caroline and Augie,
- 1:28:42what do you think? Could we hear it one more time? Yeah?
- 1:28:45Hit it. I've had it with them, I've had it with you,
- 1:28:48I've had it with all this. I want room services. Such a
- 1:28:56good line. What is Johnny mnemonic about, Augie? I've never seen it?
- 1:29:00God, what is it about the future. It's about a courier who
- 1:29:04stores information in his brain. Yeah, near future, cyberpunk, early nineties,
- 1:29:13County Reeves, and some of his brain explodes, I think at some
- 1:29:15point, or maybe I'm thinking right something else, scanners. The only way
- 1:29:23this is from fame is if it's between the two gals who are it could
- 1:29:30be same because there's this scene. There are a couple of scenes with the
- 1:29:32two gals running the program throughout the book, like interspersed, and I can't
- 1:29:39remember if this is an interaction that happens between them. No, I didn't
- 1:29:45think of that. You wouldn't know, honestly, it would. It does
- 1:29:50sound like a line on of Johnny mnemonic. But then why don't we just
- 1:29:55say that I'm cool with that? Why not? Okay? Yeah, Johnny
- 1:29:59mnemonic. Okay, So Caroline and AUGI are going to Johnny and Monic and
- 1:30:02Dave and Sebee have picked zero escape. This line is from Johnny Knamonic,
- 1:30:06So points to Carolina and Augie. Yeah, Keanu Reeves just bursts out and
- 1:30:12just starts screaming. That is where I heard it from him, Like I
- 1:30:15could. I heard the line. He's been dropped into a trash pile and
- 1:30:19he's covered in garbage and he just loses his shit. That's why I recognized
- 1:30:25it is Keanu absolutely going hog wild for it, and it's great. It's
- 1:30:30not a great monologue, but it is very cood. It is worth seeing.
- 1:30:33Okay, so let's move on the line number four. This time,
- 1:30:39Carolina and Augie, you will go first. Uh, and here is Trek
- 1:30:43four og. If you're gonna be an animal, be an animal own it
- 1:30:49is this line from Thane zero escape or fight Club from nineteen ninety nine.
- 1:30:59I feel like Club. I don't know, man, I feel like it
- 1:31:01could be it could be both, really, but I feel like if it
- 1:31:06was fight Club, this wouldn't be the quote. This feels very like I've
- 1:31:11never seen fight Club. You've never seen fight Club? I know. Can
- 1:31:14you believe that that's good? Good? It's a good one ogie? How
- 1:31:18about you as the fight club person who's seen fight Club? I assume it's
- 1:31:23the problem is it's feasible and with very little knowledge of how Vane is right,
- 1:31:29right, I guess I can't really make it. I don't think.
- 1:31:31Yeah that crazy? Okay? Can I hear omar? I have teri oral
- 1:31:39processing, which is so ironic. I'm a voice actor. Go ahead and
- 1:31:44play track four again. If you're gonna be an animal, be an animal
- 1:31:48own it? I could be saying, now, yeah, Honestly, I
- 1:31:55would probably go with your hunch that it's saying Okay, I think it's I
- 1:31:59think it's you're right that Yeah, I think it's sane because there's like This
- 1:32:08is something that I'm pretty sure Chris says to Ethan when they're taught that,
- 1:32:14when he's being like kind of you know, oh you have the buck.
- 1:32:18Oh my god. Okay, but yeah, yes, I think I understand.
- 1:32:23Okay, so you are you are in sync? You think this is
- 1:32:26from Thane? Okay, Dave and Stevie, what do you say? I
- 1:32:30was certain it was not from Faine until sane expert over here just said it
- 1:32:33was from the Thane Right, So now I don't know what to believe.
- 1:32:36It really sounds like it could be from Fight Club too, right, That's
- 1:32:40what I initially thought it was. When uh, yeah, something Tyler Durden
- 1:32:45says to anyone inside the kitchen, I think, yeah, it might not
- 1:32:47have been there. I can't remember if it was at the kitchen after he's
- 1:32:50burning his hand. That's totally Yeah. It's such an obvious Tyler Durden thing
- 1:32:56to say. I visually think it's from the movie it's for Fight Club,
- 1:33:00I agree. I agree. Either that or Aaron is just really good at
- 1:33:05screwing with us, which is also possible. But I'm gonna trust your gut,
- 1:33:10Stevie. Let's go with fight Club. Let's do what happens fight club.
- 1:33:12Okay, so you're going with fight Club? Yeah, yeah, right,
- 1:33:14So David and Stevie have gone with fight Club, Caroline and aug you
- 1:33:16have gone with Fane And the correct answer is zero escape. I am really
- 1:33:23good. It's screwing with you. Damn. Which one is it from?
- 1:33:29That is from Virtuess? Last reward? That is do O, that is
- 1:33:32de Yeah. All right, well let's move on to line number five and
- 1:33:39again this time Dave and Stevie, you're gonna go first? Pay track five?
- 1:33:44Please? I have about as much luck talking to a potato right now?
- 1:33:53Is that line from Thaane zero Escape or Spider Man No Way Home from
- 1:33:59twenty twenty? Anyone? Come on? How is this difficult? Like this
- 1:34:08game should not be this difficult. The three of you have read pain,
- 1:34:13so at the very least you should be able to knock it down to Yeah.
- 1:34:17So, Stevie, if this doesn't raised any alarm bells with you regarding
- 1:34:20Spider Man, I feel like this is something that Chris could have said in
- 1:34:27frustration to VI. Oh okay, like when VI when he's trying to get
- 1:34:33information out of V and she's just, you know, just sticking to her
- 1:34:36program. And he's like, you know, and this is it feels like
- 1:34:41I'm inclined to think it's staying. I'm done with things. I've seen no
- 1:34:45Way Home, but I've only seen it once and I don't remember that.
- 1:34:48But that would be a potato line for a potato thing. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:34:54yeah, like and a Sam Raimie Spider Man movie maybe, but not
- 1:34:58that one. Yes, exactly. So yeah, I think you're gonna go
- 1:35:01with Thane. That sounds stafe. Okay, so you're saying, Caroline and
- 1:35:04Augie, what do you say. I'm pretty sure it's Thane. Okay,
- 1:35:10with that look, she's so smart. Look at her, Look at that
- 1:35:13smile. So you're going with Thane as well? Okay, everybody's going with
- 1:35:18Thane and nobody gets any points. It is from Zero Escape again. I
- 1:35:25had a feeling as he was doing it that I'm like, this is gonna
- 1:35:28be another Zero Escape thing. What I absolutely love is the imaginary situations in
- 1:35:32which you think this line is it's part of the game. I will say
- 1:35:38it is delighting me to no end. Okay, well, hey, no
- 1:35:43point to anybody, but there's still five lines left. Let's move on.
- 1:35:45Is that from BLR as well that is from Zero Time Dilemma, the final
- 1:35:50game of the series. It is Fie speaking that line, so survives I
- 1:35:58guess I will not say. You know how time gets played with? Okay,
- 1:36:02so let's move on to uh line number six. This is for Dave
- 1:36:08and stevieego first this time? Or no? Is that right? Yeah?
- 1:36:12We went first last time? Yeah, we go first? Okay? So
- 1:36:15did I get mixed up as wet linees? What run? Two, three,
- 1:36:17four, five, six? Yeah, Caroline and AUGI go first this
- 1:36:21time? You're right? Okay, So here's track number six. I'm not
- 1:36:27dead? How am I not dead? Is that from Thane zero escape?
- 1:36:34Or Lethal Weapon three from nineteen ninety two? God, I hate you?
- 1:36:41Okay? So which one was three? What is lethal weapon too? Agie?
- 1:36:48Do you know what that is? It's well, the one I said
- 1:36:53was three two Diplomat in the community. Yeah, process, you have a
- 1:36:58verse three. I can't remember three because they don't think three was very well
- 1:37:01received. So I don't believe I ever actually watched it. I'll bet you
- 1:37:05Merta said he's getting tools for this ship. That's probably what it was.
- 1:37:11Well, here's the thing. This could be from Thane, but it's a
- 1:37:16pretty simple quote, which is difficult because it's so short, like there's not
- 1:37:20a whole lot to define it, and I can you can you hear it
- 1:37:25again? Yeah? Yeah, go ahead, I'm not dead. How am
- 1:37:30I not dead? Yeah? I think it's sane. Yeah, because like
- 1:37:40he said something similar to this in theme, I'm pretty sure. But all
- 1:37:45right, anyway, so you're going with Thane, Dave and Cbe. What
- 1:37:48do you think? I thought it was saned before Caroline said it. I
- 1:37:53just want to say that up front, I really did. I was like,
- 1:37:59I think this is thing, like right off the bat, I'm like,
- 1:38:02I'm not even questioning the other two, even though I mean not remember
- 1:38:06what leth the Web in three was about. I don't think anyone number one
- 1:38:10and two. I can't remember what three is right like seriously almost three.
- 1:38:18I can actually clear them for you. The thing, sorry, Lethal Weapon
- 1:38:23three was the development lot like this, this X cop is like building like
- 1:38:28a like for people to buy, like it's so dumb. So it's so
- 1:38:32dumb. But the real estate scams, it's just to have a final shootout
- 1:38:36and then like a barely built parts of houses and whatnot. Anyway, fair
- 1:38:42enough, thank you, Yeah, that movie sucked. So I will say
- 1:38:46again, if if we had to go first and I didn't get to hear
- 1:38:50Caroline's answer, I also I would have thought that it was Thame. But
- 1:38:55I would have assumed that Aaron was messing with us once again, because it
- 1:38:59seems so obvious. Is Lee something that Chris says in Thane? But if
- 1:39:02even Caroline thinks it's from Vain, I'm gonna let her lead me by the
- 1:39:10nostrils here. Let's go with it. Let's say than Fain for both teams,
- 1:39:15and that will get both teams a point something similar to that. And
- 1:39:20I was like, unless, like Chris says exactly that in chapter twenty three.
- 1:39:28Yes, well yeah, obviously obviously expect totally expects to die, wakes
- 1:39:32up not dead. All right, So let's go on to It's time for
- 1:39:38the next line, which means Dave and CB will go first this time.
- 1:39:42And this is track number seven. I was going to take your shied,
- 1:39:45but after that load of horseshit, you're on your own. Is this line
- 1:39:50from Faine zero Escape or the movie Network from nineteen seventy six or first?
- 1:40:00Yep, I don't think it's Network, No, No, which means I'm
- 1:40:03probably wrong. Is it horseship? Did they just say horseship? Yeah?
- 1:40:09But he also does feel like mad as hell. I'm not gonna take this
- 1:40:11anymore. That was the one right, that was network, right? Yeah?
- 1:40:15Yeah, Okay, so I'm thinking the right movie. So making sure
- 1:40:16I'm thinking the right movie first. Crap. Okay, see, I feel
- 1:40:21like that's a very period thing to say. Is horse I feel like horse
- 1:40:26shit tied out in favor of bullshit. Yeah, you're right, man,
- 1:40:31I'm trying to go through the movie. I haven't seen it in so longsane.
- 1:40:36I don't think it's insane though, No, it's definitely not thane.
- 1:40:39I don't know. It's either escape, either zero escape or network. It's
- 1:40:43a toss up. You want to flip a coin. I don't have a
- 1:40:46coin. I have a I have an SD card car alright, Samsung side
- 1:40:54up, Samsung side up. It is a zero escape. The SDA tails
- 1:41:00its network, all right? One? Two three fell the tails still network?
- 1:41:06Okay, yeah, he lost forever Carolina and Augue. Would you like
- 1:41:13to flip an SD car Well, I don't have one of those around.
- 1:41:18I honestly think it's zero you do, Yeah, just because and specifically it's
- 1:41:26because of the word horseshit being used an old film from nineteen seventy whatever.
- 1:41:31I don't think like I think they kind of kept the language kind of controlled
- 1:41:35there. It's not a comedy movie. Yeah. So I'm heading my bets
- 1:41:42and I'm thinking it's the it's a zero series. Did you play it one
- 1:41:45more time? Yeah? One more time track? So I was going to
- 1:41:50take your shy, but after that load of horseshit, you're on your own.
- 1:41:56Yeah, I'm cool with zero escape. Okay, So Caroline Augure was
- 1:42:00zero escape and David's TV flipped an SD card and went with network and you
- 1:42:06it's a shame it didn't flip the other way because it is zero escape.
- 1:42:11Because you're right, because that is such a localization. I could totally see
- 1:42:15that the adapters putting that in. And for the curious, that is from
- 1:42:23Virtue's last reward. That is ten me Ogi speaking to Alice, who was
- 1:42:27apparently just delivered a load of horseshit and he doesn't want it. So let's
- 1:42:32move on to line number eighth, and this time, Caroline and aug you
- 1:42:36will go first. Go ahead and play track eight, discovering the object of
- 1:42:43the game is the object of the game? Is this line from Thane zero
- 1:42:48Escape or the movie The game from nineteen ninety seven? Help me? There's
- 1:43:00such a dick? You that right? You are such a dick. Hey,
- 1:43:05listen, there's a home I put together good puzzles. Yes, you
- 1:43:11do, you really do. I appreciate the company. You're very gifted at
- 1:43:15this and it's so frustrating. Get extra hugs next time we meet ild Okay,
- 1:43:29yeah, any thoughts. I'm thinking it's the game because I don't want
- 1:43:32to give Aaron credit for being that clever of a line maker, you know
- 1:43:40what. But I love the spiteful answer. I know that seems to be
- 1:43:45a theme in this episode. You're not joking. I'm always joking. Did
- 1:43:53you play it again? Please? Discovering the object of the game is the
- 1:43:59object of a game? Yeah, I think it's the game. Yeah,
- 1:44:05Okay, Caroline and aug go with the game. David Cebe, what do
- 1:44:11you guys think? Are they talking about the game from like when we were
- 1:44:14in high school? The game? He lost the game? That's something stupid.
- 1:44:20All of a sudden, I'm not sure what you're talking about. I
- 1:44:24know what he's talking about and it's completely related. Okay, it's not Thane,
- 1:44:29definitely not the thing. I was sort of if it's gonna be really
- 1:44:31escape because they were talking about that, but we're not talking about that.
- 1:44:33I don't know. I don't know what the I don't know the movie the
- 1:44:35game is. Is it about basketball? It's I mean, it's like a
- 1:44:41thriller. No, it's like it's like Michael Douglass and he's involved in a
- 1:44:45mysterious he gets wrapped up in some mysterious events like twister hand on red,
- 1:44:55Like, what game are they playing? I'm so sorry on behalf of your
- 1:45:00teammate, David, you like to just answer for your team, Stevie,
- 1:45:05I think let's go zero escape, because if they're going the game, let's
- 1:45:10just pull her opposite it. Let's say zero escape. We gotta get that
- 1:45:13point anyway. Yeah right, yeah, we really need this, we really
- 1:45:15do. Oh god, Okay, well it's not the same without this point.
- 1:45:19So Carolina and Augi have gone with the game, and Dave and Stevie
- 1:45:25have said it's zero escape and it is actually the game. That is another
- 1:45:31point for Carolina and Augi. You logic, brain activate, My instincts are
- 1:45:36so raw, I gotta start. Georgia Stanzing tell you, and we're the
- 1:45:45curious. A guy on a television set says this to Michael Douglass. I
- 1:45:48believe somewhere near the start of the whole Ye Throller series. Uh so,
- 1:45:53anyway, so that is line number eight. Let's move to line number nine,
- 1:45:57and this time, Dave and Stevie, you will go first. All
- 1:46:00right, all right, go ahead and play track nine. I know why
- 1:46:03we were kidnapped and brought here. It was all for this moment. Was
- 1:46:14this line from Fane zero escape or the movie Breathing Room from two thousand and
- 1:46:18eight. I don't know that movie at all. I know I've never heard
- 1:46:23of that movie. Yeah, you made that up. That is fake obvious.
- 1:46:32I mean that sounds like something Chris, wait a minute, wait a
- 1:46:35minute, we're brought here. It sounds, but it doesn't. It sounds
- 1:46:42similar to the beginning. Yes, it sounds similar, and that's what's bothering
- 1:46:45me. Yeah, it sounds to me like it sounds similar to when Alera
- 1:46:51suddenly uh decodes the scrambled up letters, like the mixed up words. But
- 1:47:00I don't think anyone actually says that, because that's not the discovery, right,
- 1:47:05Could you play it one more time please? Yeah, tak dye correct
- 1:47:10track nine. Yes, I know why we were kidnapped and brought here.
- 1:47:15It was all for this moment. Yeah, no, because that's not That
- 1:47:21sounds like the big discovery. But the big discovery is is what is what
- 1:47:26is my purpose that in that part of the book, I want to say,
- 1:47:32not knowing anything about this movie, I say we go zero escape because
- 1:47:35I've guessed that so many times. It's got to be right at least one
- 1:47:39right, zero escape? Okay, So David Cebe, you're going to zero
- 1:47:45escape. Yeah, let's try it. Man. If you're a line in
- 1:47:46Augie, what do you say, Aggie? I do actually think this is
- 1:47:50zero escape? You really? Okay? I was actually thinking it was saying,
- 1:47:55but I'll go with her. Do you think it's sane? It's only
- 1:47:59red five chapters. Yeah, I'm gonna go first. So zero zero escape?
- 1:48:10All right, So you're going with zero escape. So both teams go
- 1:48:12with zero escape, and both teams get a point. It is absolutely zero
- 1:48:15escape? Thy good? Yeah, we showed you this team this is also
- 1:48:23got a point at the very end. YEP. Exactly, well done,
- 1:48:28Caroline okay, and our final line, line number ten, go ahead.
- 1:48:33I do have like a million questions, but I think we should just start
- 1:48:38with why m is this line from Thane zero escape or the movie Little Shop
- 1:48:46of Horrors from nineteen eighty six, A great film, Caroline and Augie,
- 1:48:51you are going first this time. I'm just gonna say this screams Aaron's writing.
- 1:48:58So I'm gonna go with Thane. Yeah, because it's definitely not Little
- 1:49:01Horrors. I'm like, I got that whole movie. I just watched it
- 1:49:05all the time. Yeah, constantly, it's always in the background. But
- 1:49:11yeah, think you're right. Yeah, okay, you guys are walking in
- 1:49:15thing Dave and Stevie. What do you think I said we piggyback off of
- 1:49:19them, Stevie, Ye say, we eat and look at their notes.
- 1:49:23Yeah, they did it for our last question, right, Yeah, totally
- 1:49:27we that we solved that one. I think we solved that last one.
- 1:49:33Yeah, so this time I'll play a recording for you later and we answered
- 1:49:38first. That's good. Just yes, we will concur no man explaining over
- 1:49:45the only woman here, like, don't do it? Yeah, guys,
- 1:49:48come on, what sorry, So David CB, you're saying you're You're also
- 1:49:59gonna say correct, I will trust the recent rewatchers of Little Shop, and
- 1:50:03that is absolutely right. It is thing nice. It is Chris in chapter
- 1:50:10forty one. So yeah, that means at the end of game three,
- 1:50:15Dave and Stevie have bravely managed to gather four points. Yes, but Caroline
- 1:50:18and Augie have won seven points. Yes, they come back. I've never
- 1:50:29lost to be a fight tw episode? Is that true? That is absolutely
- 1:50:32yeah. You put me up against an undefeated champion some friend, right,
- 1:50:41Dave? You and I need to hang out war get rid of this.
- 1:50:46Actually no, I think Sarah might have won the episode we filmed in Philly.
- 1:50:50I can't remember she did. Yeah technically, yeah, technically, but
- 1:50:56we are about to be married, so everything that's hers is mind. There
- 1:51:00you go. I like the way you think. Well done. Okay,

- 1:55:47amazing. He did absolutely amazing. But that I'm afraid is going to be
- 1:55:53it from us. Why because it's a mystery. Oh anymore? Got anymore
