- 2:01nineteen fifty six. In the day the toddle of today's episode The Squared Circle
- 2:07Matter from Hollywood. It's time now for Johnny Dellar, Paul Kendrick, Johnny
- 2:17over at Eastern Allied Casualty remember, Oh sure, Paul, how are you
- 2:21seen any good fights? Lavely Prize Fie? That is Yeah, the championship
- 2:24bottled the stadium over in Maulville last week. Were you there? No,
- 2:28I had a miss it, but it didn't miss me. Huh. The
- 2:30minute Georgia hit the canvas in that fourth round, it cost me fifty bucks.
- 2:34Johnny, do you remember al Colornado? Are you kidding? I've watched
- 2:37that boy come up from the Golden Gloves. Well, he fought in one
- 2:39of the preliminary bouts. I know I lost on him to twenty bucks.
- 2:43Come on over, will you, and I'll tell you why the company may
- 2:46lose fifty thousand. Done. Bob Bailey in the Exciting Adventures of the Man
- 2:58with the Action pactickst America's fabulous freelance insurance investigators, Truly Johnny Dollar. Expense
- 3:17account submitted by special investigator Johnny Dollar to Eastern Allied Casualty Insurance Company four to
- 3:23two Spital Building, Hartford, Connecticut. Following is an account of expenses incurred
- 3:27during my investigation of the squared Circle matter. Expense account had a one a
- 3:36dollar ten cents camp from my apartment to the offices of Eastern Allied. When
- 3:39I got upstairs into his personal cubicle, I found Paul Kendrick pacing the floor.
- 3:45Sit down, Johnny, have a drink if you want one. No,
- 3:47no thanks, Hey, looks like you're the one who could use a
- 3:52drink. What are you worried about? Don't tell me you've ben hitting the
- 3:55company till for big money to bet on the fights. Johnny, I'm worried
- 3:59about. Listen, I'm all yours. How long since you've seen al Coronado
- 4:03fight? Ooh six months? Year maybe? But before that, when he
- 4:06was working all the local arenas, you and I were present every time he
- 4:10put on the gloves, so we knew him when he had reflexes quick enough
- 4:13to well, do you remember how he'd show off by picking a fly or
- 4:16mosquito out of the air, grabbing it between his fingers without even hurting it.
- 4:19Yeah. Sure, he was no metal giant, not by a long
- 4:23shot. But he had the fastest eyes and hands I ever saw in the
- 4:26man. Right. But something has happened to him, something very wrong,
- 4:29and I think I know what it is. Listen, a few years ago,
- 4:32his manager, Ricky Malone, took out a fifty thousand dollars policy on
- 4:35him annuity. So what a lot of managers take out policies on their boys
- 4:40and then get him killed. Look Al is fighting again tomorrow night in a
- 4:44small town outside of Joplin, choppin Missouri, little place just across the state
- 4:48line. Johnny, I want you to be there. You mean has a
- 4:53sort of bodyguard. I want you to see the fight. That's all.
- 4:55See Al Coronado fight. Yeah, but this murder crack. I'm having a
- 4:59copy of the policy he made and you can pick it up at the Joplin
- 5:00Post Office General Delivery. Now, Paul, I know, I know I
- 5:03may be all wrong. This may only be a hunch without a single legitimate
- 5:08reason for suspicion. That's why I took a whole week to think it over
- 5:11before calling you. That's why I want somebody who knows AL as well as
- 5:15you and I do to look. Will you go down there and see him?
- 5:18Why? We'll pay the freight pand your expense account anything you like.
- 5:21Oh, now that's an attack, but do it, Johnny? Will you?
- 5:30I had them two another dollar ten back to my apartment a pack.
- 5:34I had them three one hundred and twenty four dollars even playing fair, and
- 5:38incidentals to Joplin by your lead, Paul. The incidentals included a new sports
- 5:43shirt loud enough to startle the whole state of Arizona, an extra pack of
- 5:46razor blades, and a new toothbrush. Also, I had them four three
- 5:48bucks flowers for the stewardess, who managed to find me an extra bottle of
- 5:53champaigne. I arrived at Joplin shortly before noon, and after checking into a
- 5:57hotel founded by some miracle, a copy of AL policy was waiting for me
- 6:00at the post office. A quick glance at that brings up item five four
- 6:04dollars and a quarter phone call. What do you mean holding out on you?
- 6:09I thought you, said, Ricky Malone took out the policy. He
- 6:12did and pays all the premiums. But the beneficiary named is Frankie Fourtina.
- 6:17Now ho see I don't know yet. Well, his address is in New
- 6:20York City. You've better look him up, will you. I've been trying
- 6:23to. But the last time FOURTEENA was at the address on the policy,
- 6:26it was a racetrack bookie joint. Oh so that's why you're worried. That's
- 6:30one reason. Well, if you learn anything about I don't let me know.
- 6:32Well, you I'm staying in the Beverly Arm Okay, Johnny, Johnny,
- 6:35Yeah, call me again, will you? After the fight tonight?
- 6:40Sure, I was tired, so I had a big lunch that had him
- 6:50six, went out to my room and slept. I overslept. It was
- 6:54nearly nine o'clock when I woke up, so I grabbed a cab that sided
- 6:57him seven. I went out to the arena in the nearby town of on
- 7:00Elbow. The five Bucks had a mate. I managed to get a seat
- 7:02a ring side and time to catch the end of the last prelimin where in
- 7:09one minute the program told me how was schedule for the main event against some
- 7:12local boy named Rafe Cummings. I've never heard of him, and I doubt
- 7:16if anybody outside of Tucson ever had. I understood why when he stepped into
- 7:20the ring, this kid looked like the rankest kind of amateur, strong,
- 7:25sure and in good condition, but comes in he almost took over his own
- 7:29size fifteen feet and it was no actor full and opponent either. How when
- 7:33he came in looked as good as ever. He gave me a quick glance
- 7:36of recognition. I'm sure he knew nothing about me except possibly my name at
- 7:42the oldening belly came out fast. All the old speed and timing were there
- 7:45and faint weave and flick out that light but punishing left, sing old pattern
- 7:47and saying, well wait a minute. Those quick left jams were only landing
- 7:51about one in four as though he touched comings only when the comes the ox
- 7:57having to walk into him, but because of his speed out took nothing but
- 8:00a few light ones on the body. He kept his face well out of
- 8:01reach. Oh yeah, his timing was perfect, but his aim was terrible.
- 8:07Every time he shot out his fist he was three four inches wide.
- 8:09It's what a funny thing happened at the end of the round when Al went
- 8:13back to his corner, and remember Raven only tapped him a few times on
- 8:15the body. When he went back to his corner and started to sit down,
- 8:18he almost missed the stool, would have if one of the seconds had
- 8:20named it under him funny. The second round got under weigh the same as
- 8:26the first owl. Was all speed, dodging, weaving, keeping his face
- 8:28out of the way. But again he wasn't hitting his march. And then
- 8:33it happened he missed Cummings. Why then practically ran into his glove, catching
- 8:37it hot on the cheek, and down he went. Why there wasn't enough
- 8:41steam behind Cummings glove to hurt it, But out took the counts he'd been
- 8:46hurt by that tap on the face. Then another thing. The second he
- 8:48was counted out, his handlers practically hauled him out of the ring and back
- 8:52to his dressing round. And believed me owl looked terrible, and his eyes
- 8:54had a strange, almost far away look, as though that little smack had
- 8:58not his Rainslow said, my seat was on the far side of the ring,
- 9:01but I elbowed my way through the crowd and back to the rower dressing
- 9:05rooms. In a hallway building at one end of the building. Al al
- 9:09Carnado, I told you on the way up the aisle, Doc, we
- 9:13don't need you the boys, all right, go on, Doc, beat
- 9:16it you hear me? Dot listen. This is Johnny Dollar, old fan
- 9:20of Al's from Hartford. I want to see him some other No, no,
- 9:24right away, come on, open up, I said some of the
- 9:28time. Don't you understand. We're pulling out of this burg and we ain't
- 9:31got time to stand around and talk. Now, look, buddy Malone's and
- 9:33name my mouths manager. Seeing when I say get out, I mean van
- 9:37moose. Now are you okay? Boy? This is Johnny Doller. Oh
- 9:39no, you duck brother? That sweet your walk? Hey yeah? Now
- 9:50good lord? Now what's the matter with you? Oh? Held, jolly
- 9:54yeah? Look at me? No, no, I mean straight at me
- 9:56here. Al all right, Jaddy, you're in bad shape. You should
- 10:03never have fought tonight. Oh that's all right. Where are your seconds?
- 10:05Your trainer, Ricky though, don't let nobody in to fight? Look out,
- 10:11can you get up off that table? Stand up and walk? Oh?
- 10:13Shore shoo, Jaddy, and come on, I'm taking you out of
- 10:16here day. Look. Look, we hide you, Ricky, He's up,
- 10:20He's got you. Bet I am Tello, Act two of Yours,
- 10:41Truly, Johnny Dollar. In just a moment. Each Monday through Friday evening,
- 10:46most of these same stations bring you the amins and Andy Music Hall variety,
- 10:50entertainment at its best, for top songs, informal visits with top stars,
- 10:54and for a never ending supply of fun. Turn your home into the
- 10:58Aminson Andy Music five nights a week now, Act two of Yours, Truly,
- 11:03Johnny Dollar and the Squared Circle Matter. When I came to the dressing
- 11:15room was dark and quiet. After carefully falling off the table where they'd left
- 11:20me, I groped my way to the light switch, stumbling instantly all the
- 11:24remains of the chair Ricky Malone had used off me. It was well after
- 11:26midnight, so I left by the dressing room window. The second I reached
- 11:31my hotel room and I put through a long distance call, hoping Paul Kendrick
- 11:33would be in home in bed. He was, Johnny Dollar and Paul,
- 11:39You're right, it'll be murder unless I can stop it. Hey, you
- 11:43awake? You mean El Coronado? What's happened? Johnny Plenty and listen.
- 11:48That boy is more than punch drunk. He's had a brain injury or some
- 11:52kind. I'll bet on it. That's when I was afraid. The tap
- 11:54on the face that had knocked him out to night wasn't enough to hurt a
- 11:56kitten, but a good solid blow would probably kill him. That's why protecting
- 12:00his face. But Ricky Maloney's making him keep on. Oh else, I
- 12:03just met that gentleman by the way. What he say? Did you question
- 12:05him? Before I could? He cracked me over the head with a chair.
- 12:09Where's he not? Oh? I don't know. What are you gonna
- 12:11do? See if the police can track them down. Malone said something about
- 12:13leaving town right away and keep after him. Did you read that policy carefully?
- 12:18You're kidding. I haven't had time. It's an annuity that much I
- 12:20saw beginning in three or four years. It'll pay all a nice little income
- 12:24of the rest of his life if he survives. But the beneficiary named,
- 12:28yes, Frankie Fourteina, who gets the full face value of the policy of
- 12:31al dies? Johnny, Yeah, I got a rundown on FOURTEENA. He
- 12:35said he was a boogieer one time. That was the least of his crimes.
- 12:37He has a record as long as your arm as I see it,
- 12:39he owns Al Coronado. Then you're probably thinking what I am. But Al
- 12:46hasn't been doing so well lately. He's taking a big drop in class.
- 12:48Isn't making the purses he used to? You know that? Yes, the
- 12:52ANBA keeps a complete record. So with this injury to his brain, the
- 12:56only way FOURTEENA can clean up on him is by seeing him dead. That's
- 12:58right. What about medical examinations before these fights? Ricky Malone could bribe his
- 13:03own mother, especially in some of the towns where Al has been fighting lately.
- 13:07That's possible, of course. Also, what you and I believe is
- 13:09wrong with Ali, he's one of the hardest things in the world to detect.
- 13:13Yeah, yeah, I must admit he looked great when he entered the
- 13:15ring. Okay, Paul One, things in our favor, either Al nor
- 13:18Ricky Malone knows who I am outside of being a fight fan, just so
- 13:22FOURTEENA doesn't learn different. Well, it is FOURTEENA by the way, I
- 13:24don't know, So Johnny, whatever you do, be careful. Expencer con
- 13:33Item nine three seventy for a couple of phone calls some breakfast in a taxi
- 13:37the police headquarters. I'll say this for the Champlan police when they go into
- 13:41action, they really get things done. Within less than two hours. Sergeant
- 13:45Danny Ruskin dug up all the information I want. Well, that dies into
- 13:48what Conrad I found out at the airport. Now that doesn't hurn. Thanks
- 13:50very much something, and I think it gives us the whole story. Johnny
- 13:56Alan his manager Ricky Malone, checked out of their hotel, the Raybury one
- 14:00o'clock this morning. Just the two of them ride. There was no third
- 14:03party by the name of fourteen or anything else, just the two of them.
- 14:07They caught the one forty plane for Oklahoma City and there they bought tickets
- 14:11Rodingham to Monterey, Mexico, Mexico. How soon can I get a plane
- 14:16going down there? I told you I got to save that guy's life,
- 14:18all right, Look in Monterey. Look up Sergeant Romilia Garcia, Main Homicide
- 14:22Division. You mentioned my name. He'll give you anything you want. Go
- 14:24ahead, Now, what about that plane? The Dilon plane connections turned out
- 14:37to be bad. The best time I could make was by way of out
- 14:39passing rightside Santa one hundred and twenty seven dollars including incidentals. I finally pulled
- 14:45in the Monterey shortly after eight pm. I parked my bag at the airport
- 14:48taxiing into town Adam eleven. I went straight to main headquarters of the Policia
- 14:50are Sagian Romdio Garcia was off Jordan and you had gone to the fights.
- 14:56I had them twelve four dollars American for a fast taxi ride at the Plaza
- 14:58del fist Cups or whatever they call it. Yeah, for rightem thirteen five
- 15:03bucks. I had the sergeant pages over the PA system. After two or
- 15:07three minutes, a short, stocky, important looking figure and police uniforms stood
- 15:09up to the door and you're Johnny Dollar And that's right, sergeant, how
- 15:13are you Americanos? Now? What is so important? I'm goost leave the
- 15:18assl and fights to talk with you. Huh the possible murder of an American
- 15:20fighter right here in your own ring. So what is that to be excited
- 15:24about something that happens all the time. Is because the Mexican fighter is more
- 15:30better than the Americano fighter. So if that is all it is. Pultimately,
- 15:33Sergeant Danny Ruskin at the job Donny. Why do you not say so
- 15:39at the beginning? Well, you didn't give me much of a chance.
- 15:41I is in my good friend, Sergeant Danny. This is too long ifc
- 15:45here? Yeah, well what still in man, Sergeant Danny? When I
- 15:48have trouble with one of our Mexican nationals who escape across the border and go
- 15:52all the way to Missouri Joplin, is Sergeant Danny? Who? But you
- 15:56have a problem man? Yeah? A fighter name of alcohol, not a
- 16:00Coronado. Oh but of course tomorrow night he is fighting here and he will
- 16:06lose. Why do you say that? Come look here and the what you
- 16:11call a billboard a picture of the man he is to fight. So el
- 16:15toro negro. It sounds more like the name of a ball in him.
- 16:19Oh see big man? Is he not? There's this picture realm two hundred
- 16:26and forty pounds in you. But now Corona the only weighs in a one
- 16:29eighty one. See el too, big man is singing a dollar. He
- 16:33is a killer, our best three men. He's knocked out of the ring,
- 16:37but nobody heard, seems so. No wonder you worried, Sagan,
- 16:41unless you when I can stop at that won't be a fight tomorrow night.
- 16:45It'll be a premeditated, cold blooded killing. Oh so I showed Garcia my
- 16:56potentials, then told him what I knew and what I suspected I have proof
- 17:00of. They say, or to start what you call an international situation.
- 17:04You are not now in your own country, you know. Still he agreed
- 17:10to cooperate. First thing, of course, was to locate out and this
- 17:12manager in this city of nearly two hundred thousand. That could be pretty rough,
- 17:17but he said he tried. He drove me by the airport to pick
- 17:19up my bag into a hotel and there is the bell hop unlocked the door
- 17:22of my room. I got a wheel break the next door down the hall
- 17:26open there? Hey kid, how'd you like the Greg meph for glass and
- 17:30warm milk? Now al Coronado? Oh hi, hey boy, just putting
- 17:36my bags inside and leaves the door open. He yeah, are you alone?
- 17:41Sure? Hey? You? Johnny? At you? Yeah, that's
- 17:47right, Johnny, And I want to talk to you. I used to
- 17:48see you excide all the time up and hard for that. You saw me
- 17:52and Jaffain too, Only you don't remember where's Ricky Malone? Your manager?
- 17:59Oh? He says, how to go meet somebody. He's always going out.
- 18:03Look al, I'm an insurance investigator. Oh oh, I got some
- 18:08as shirts. Yeah, one more fight than somebody's gonna collect it. Uh
- 18:12No, Johnny, that's my retiring money. The only one who'll retire on
- 18:18it is Frankie Fourteina. Hey, Frankie, he's my owner. You know,
- 18:25Hey, who takes all the aspin around here? Me? I get
- 18:30a lot of headaches all the time. But maybe that's why I am been
- 18:33hitting so good lately. Yeah, here, can's this bottle? Hey?
- 18:40Uh now, look what you did? No, no, well you look
- 18:42what you did. You missed that bottle by three inches for the same reason
- 18:48you haven't been hitting. Well, why you have these headaches. I'll give
- 18:52it to you straight. You've had a brain injury. Out One good wallop
- 18:56on that headle, kid, and that's just what Ricky and fourteen want.
- 19:00No, Ricky always says to keep my head protected. So you must be
- 19:04wrong, am I? Whoa? Ricky's good to me? Why you Numbskully's
- 19:08trying to get you killed? Johnny, you are wrong. You know the
- 19:12man you're up against tomorrow night, Well I know his name. Well,
- 19:17he's the one schedule to finish you off good. I don't believe that.
- 19:22And listen, you're gonna believe it now? Was it to here? Who
- 19:27are you gonna call? Hello? This is an emergency. Get me,
- 19:30Sergeant Romano. You gotta see at Central Police Headquarters, the cops, that's
- 19:33right, al and a doctor. Uh No, Ricky says, to stay
- 19:37away from doctors. All they do. All they do is stop you from
- 19:40ever fighting again. And I would make you worth just fifty thousand dollars less
- 19:44to Frankie. Sergeant Johnny Dollar. I found out hotel room right next to
- 19:48mine, room nine to fifteen. Bring a doctor, a brain specialist if
- 19:51you can, even if you have to drag him out of bed. Oh.
- 19:53Look, we'll fight the international situation when we come to it. You
- 19:56get a doctor up here, you hang up or I'll blow your head off.
- 20:03Well, mister FOURTEENA I first, kim Ricky Sure, boys East quan
- 20:11Ah. I hate to shoot an an armed man, Dollar, but if
- 20:15you make one phony move so you know who I am. Ricky here may
- 20:19be stupid in some ways, but he had sense enough to call me from
- 20:22Joplin after you broke in on him there finding out what you're up to.
- 20:26Wasn't difficult. Finding out what you're up to was very toughy the FOURTEENA.
- 20:30But it's all over, not for me, Dollar, That's where you're wrong.
- 20:33That phone call I made was to the police, know, to central
- 20:37headquarters. That's over three miles from here. By the time your sergeant finds
- 20:40a doctor and gets here, you will be dead and I will be gone.
- 20:42Have you forgotten that you have a bordered across fourteen times? Stupid Frankie
- 20:48Fourteina has never been here, has never been even in Mexico because my tourist
- 20:52god reads Charles Edward Smith. Since the next plane leaves for the States in
- 20:56about twenty minutes, Ricky, Yeah, boys, I think mister Dollar had
- 21:02better have an accident fall out of the window perhaps, And I wait a
- 21:07minute, I mean listen to me alone. I had two reasons for coming
- 21:11down here, to see if you were right about Dollar, and to make
- 21:14sure of that fight tomorrow. You've been stalling with al. You've taken too
- 21:18long. The heat is on up north. I need the dough. I
- 21:22told you boys that El Toro will do it. Tomuch. I'll shut up
- 21:25and look if you take care of Dollar what about me. Maybe you can
- 21:30get back to the States, but me with Dollar laying dead here, and
- 21:33if al Al won't talk, you won't either. Thank you. Dollar has
- 21:40given us a perfect setup. He came here to Al's room, you found
- 21:42him here, You had a fight. Dollar ends up in the street below.
- 21:48But what happens to me? And I always taken care of you in
- 21:51the past when you were working for me, you know what will happen if
- 21:55you ever try to cross it. No, all right, all right,
- 21:57I have contacts down here. I have lawyers, good ones. It's going
- 22:02to be self defense, pure and simple, like what if el I told
- 22:06you before. Ricky, you've taken too long with him. While I hold
- 22:11this gun, You're going to take care of Al two the way you should
- 22:14have a long long time ago in his fights. No, listen to me,
- 22:18frank you listen. You do this whole thing just as deep as I
- 22:22have, and deeper because you're the one who's kept out fighting. You've paid
- 22:25off all those phony medicals. You set him up for this El Toro.
- 22:27Tomorrow night, you'll do it, Ricky. No, then I'll use the
- 22:33gun and all three of your Frankie, am I. It will still look
- 22:37like a fight between you and Ricky. I'll just happen to get hit accidentally
- 22:42by the gun that will be found beside your body. Boss, Boss,
- 22:47I'll do it. You bet. You will do anything you say if you
- 22:52just help me get out of it. Okay, Okay, go ahead.
- 22:59Dollar is first, brother. If you think it's gonna be easy, either
- 23:02the window or this gun. Dollar, So far as you're concerned, I
- 23:04don't care which go on, Ricky. Just remember your own life depends on
- 23:10it, you bet, Jerdy? Will you the window off? Ricky?
- 23:17The window? I said, remember your life, Ricky? All right?

- 24:11I suggest the company makes some adjustment in his policy that will permit paying his
- 24:15annuities immediately. And why not? The company should have investigated more thoroughly before
- 24:19issuing this policy anyway, And if it doesn't show a little heart, but
- 24:23I'm sure it will. Adam fourteen two hundred and twenty four to fifty hotel

- 25:25story of Yours truly, Johnny Dollar. Stay tuned for five minutes of CBS
- 25:30News, to be followed over most of these same stations by the FBI.
- 25:33In Peace and War, Dan Cumberly speaking, welcome back, Well, happy
- 26:51mean to find the guy that you're looking for in the same hotel you're staying
- 26:56in. That ends to be one of those things that you have to when
- 27:00you only have twenty five minutes to tell your story. But I will say
- 27:03Johnstone's definitely showing some improvement. While Johnstone at times has indulged in having supersonic
- 27:11police officers, he makes things far more believable here with Martinez. While Martina's
- 27:17got there very quickly, it wasn't impossible, after all. It's the way
- 27:22Johnny had to hang up quickly. Probably include martinaz in that something was going
- 27:27on and he wasn't going to bother getting a doctor. He was going to
- 27:32make sure that Johnny Dollar didn't need a corner. Well, now we turn
- 27:37to our listener comments and feedback, and William emails in and he writes,
- 27:45well, I'm sad to see the end of the serialized format of Johnny Dollar
- 27:49and appreciate many of the stories presented Therein I will say the format suffered from
- 27:53one flaw that got annoyed the device of Johnny retelling the events of the previous
- 27:59episodes other characters like police lieutenants. It seems a lot of time was spent
- 28:03every day rehashing the plot in order to catch the audience up. By comparison,
- 28:08the serialized OTR, Superman shows seem to do a better job of quickly
- 28:12recapping previous episodes without getting too bogged down in details, and they were able
- 28:18to recap through narration instead of the device of characters reciting what they already knew.
- 28:23To be fair, maybe Superman's plots weren't as complicated as Johnny dollars well.
- 28:27I will say that I have actually heard quite a few episodes of Superman
- 28:33where Clark Kent will sit down and will actually tell characters what they said,
- 28:37Chief you yourself said, really just to remind the audience of what the chief
- 28:44said. You told you know, you said this, and we decided this,
- 28:48you know. So there would be those sort of contrivances. That is
- 28:52one of the trade offs with serialized stories. I will say that sometimes Johnny
- 29:00A. Dollar managed to do it cleverly by not recapping the plot to someone
- 29:07who already knew, you know. For example, a new police lieutenant.
- 29:11Well, it all started in New Orleans, and I tended to think they
- 29:17were overall a little bit more clever in how they did it. Beginning any
- 29:21story with two or three minutes of backstory can also be a challenge too,
- 29:26particularly told by a narrator. There were a few times where I did find
- 29:30myself shaking my head, but still I prefer the theorialized format and I'll definitely
- 29:37missed those because they provided so much more complex stories. But thanks so much
- 29:41for the email, Liiam Philip, comments on Facebook and joining the shows,
- 29:47especially yours tweely Johnny Dollar. Finally, we have a new review of the
- 29:52app over on Amazon. Susan writes the best old timer radio podcast available bar
- 30:00none. Why is this one the best? There are a number of reasons,
- 30:04but it all starts with the host, Adam Graham. He's taking the
- 30:07time not only in selecting the series to run, but he's also researched the
- 30:11backgrounds of the shows and the stars and presents them like an old friend talking
- 30:15to you about a subject that he truly loves. Many others might play the
- 30:18show, but do they play them in the order they first aired? Adam
- 30:21does do the others clean up the old recordings and make them sound good for
- 30:26seventy year old records. Adam does try this podcast. If you love old
- 30:30time radio detectives or film more as much as I do, this will become
- 30:33the podcast that you will look forward to every day. Well, thanks so
- 30:37much for the comments, Susan. I have to say that on the cleaning
- 30:41up, any improvement of the quality of the recordings from what I have found
- 30:47online, we can thank Andrew Ryns at the Old Time Radio Western Show at
