- 0:00made a career-high seven three-pointers
- 0:01all in the second half. So, with that,
- 0:03we'll just open it up to questions for
- 0:05KO.
- 0:06>> Go ahead, Kurt.
- 0:08>> Talk about having the confidence to keep
- 0:10shooting. I mean, you go over in the
- 0:11first half and then couldn't miss hardly
- 0:13in the second half. Just you feel like
- 0:15you just the shots were going to fall
- 0:16for you eventually. You just have to
- 0:17keep taking them.
- 0:18>> Yeah. Um
- 0:21I knew I kind of had to get my legs back
- 0:22under me. That's just kind of the player
- 0:24I am. I've never in my career had three,
- 0:26four days off like I'm just waiting. So,
- 0:29just had to get my legs back under me.
- 0:31But shots were falling in the second
- 0:33half. First half, like I said, trying to
- 0:35find that rhythm, but the zone was kind
- 0:37of funky. I thought I took some bad ones
- 0:38that weren't typical for me, but second
- 0:41half, I just tried to find better
- 0:43windows to take them. And then when you
- 0:44make those simple ones, the other ones
- 0:46become easier. So, yeah.
- 0:48>> Nathan,
- 0:50>> as Pete mentioned that, you know, maybe
- 0:52it was kind of expected for you guys to
- 0:53come out a little flat because human
- 0:55nature. Y'all were disappointed about
- 0:56selection Sunday. What were the
- 0:58conversations like early in the game
- 0:59when y'all were trailing? And from you
- 1:00as a leader, what kind of keep the
- 1:03team's head up early in the game?
- 1:04>> Yeah. Um I think it had more to do with
- 1:07our physical more than our mental state
- 1:09up until that point. Um before the game
- 1:11and during the game, it was more so like
- 1:15let's just keep playing. Let's let's get
- 1:16the flow. We're missing our our big man.
- 1:18So let's let's just try to fill the
- 1:20spots and keep playing together and the
- 1:22game will open up. Shots will fall.
- 1:23We've never we've never played with that
- 1:25ball in that gym also. So, there's a lot
- 1:27of different factors that played into
- 1:28today, but second half I think was
- 1:30better overall. Yeah.
- 1:32>> Defensively, specifically in the second
- 1:34half, it feels like y'all gave up a lot
- 1:35more patience, I guess. What What were
- 1:37you guys able to do that made them
- 1:38uncomfortable in the second half?
- 1:39>> Yeah, just being the aggressor. Um,
- 1:42uh, I heard him speak more to pick our
- 1:45pickup point. Um, that was definitely a
- 1:47difference. I wasn't on the ball as much
- 1:49in the first half. That's always be
- 1:50that'll always be a difference in our
- 1:52team if you pay attention. But I think
- 1:55being more aggressive with
- 1:58the start into the finish of the
- 2:01possessions was was the difference. We
- 2:03weren't letting up through the course of
- 2:04the possession and just being the
- 2:06aggressor.
- 2:08>> What does it say about K that, you know,
- 2:09had played in two months, he's been
- 2:11scouting guy for y'all. He comes in, you
- 2:13know, has a huge second half, just kind
- 2:15of staying ready. What does that say
- 2:16about him?
- 2:17>> Um, yeah, I said earlier just his
- 2:19ability to prevail through the season.
- 2:21um ups and downs, long season for
- 2:22everybody, but specifically his
- 2:24situation to just stay with it and to
- 2:26keep giving us great looks every day. Um
- 2:28his opportunity came and he knocked down
- 2:30shots. Um that's something we knew he
- 2:31could do all the time, so it's nothing
- 2:33new for us. Just good to see it on the
- 2:35court.
- 2:38>> How tough was it for you guys that that
- 2:39decision by Murf, especially I know that
- 2:42you guys have talked about him as being
- 2:43one of the leaders on this team?
- 2:44>> Yeah. Um he just he's doing everything
- 2:46he can for himself at this point and um
- 2:48it's all love. Um, we all love him for
- 2:50his whatever decision he has made and
- 2:52we'll continue to move forward.
- 2:56>> SP was talking about how in the second
- 2:57half y'all did a better job like getting
- 2:59the ball in the paint than getting those
- 3:00threes. You feel like that was kind of
- 3:02the big difference especially for you to
- 3:03get kind of get in your rhythm?
- 3:04>> Yeah. Um, it's always um statistically
- 3:08better to get the ball into the paint
- 3:09before you shoot a three. So, I mean
- 3:10that was obvious, but yeah, like I said,
- 3:13just finding those windows after the
- 3:14ball has reached a certain point to take
- 3:16the shot, I think was better. our
- 3:18selection.
- 3:20>> Anything else for KO?
- 3:21>> All right,
- 3:22>> go ahead.
