- 0:00Speaker 1: Now nine till noon weekdays. The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Guest hosting for Mark today. Here's Ken Rosato. We're going
- 0:11Speaker 1: to go to our calls in just a second. I
- 0:13Speaker 1: just want to point out two things. We've been talking
- 0:15Speaker 1: about Maria Bartiromo and Fox. And John Solomon, I'm sure
- 0:19Speaker 1: you've seen him on Fox News. He owns Solomon Reports. Well,
- 0:24Speaker 1: he just texted out, he tweeted or X'd out. that, quote,
- 0:30Speaker 1: the reports that Maria Bartiromo was fired, he put in quotes,
- 0:34Speaker 1: are not true. She remains under contract with Fox News
- 0:38Speaker 1: and receiving her pay until 2029. She has been removed
- 0:41Speaker 1: from air and won't return, but she continues to remain
- 0:45Speaker 1: with Fox at present under the pay or play provision
- 0:47Speaker 1: of a contract, which is common in television. So, yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 1: we call that the non-compete. So I guess in order
- 0:58Speaker 1: to keep her away from competitors, they still have her
- 1:01Speaker 1: under contract and they continue to pay her her salary
- 1:05Speaker 1: until 2029. I don't know that Fox is going to
- 1:07Speaker 1: want to actually do that the entirety of the time.
- 1:09Speaker 1: A lot of times they settle for an amount and
- 1:11Speaker 1: they say, we'll cut ties, we'll give you this flat
- 1:15Speaker 1: amount and you go your way and we go our way.
- 1:17Speaker 1: That's more than likely going to happen because There are
- 1:19Speaker 1: all sorts of rumors that she's making anywhere from $ 4
- 1:22Speaker 1: to $ 8 million a year. And if I'm Fox, do
- 1:25Speaker 1: I want to keep paying somebody that amount to keep
- 1:28Speaker 1: them off the air?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Depends.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I mean, she is who she is. Maria Bartiromo is amazing.
- 1:34Speaker 1: But we'll see what happens. That is from one person.
- 1:36Speaker 1: That's from John Solomon. And one other quick story before
- 1:38Speaker 1: we go to our calls. I thought this was interesting.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Would you like to make $ 50 an hour? All right.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So he's nodding his head. So there is a restaurant.
- 1:49Speaker 1: in san francisco that is offering 50 an hour for
- 1:54Speaker 1: a dishwasher you heard right they're offering 50 this is
- 1:59Speaker 1: a real story apparently this restaurant can't get somebody to
- 2:02Speaker 1: work the 8 p.m to 4 a.m overnight shift on
- 2:06Speaker 1: the weekends that's how tough it is it is a
- 2:09Speaker 1: vietnamese restaurant And they are in San Francisco. And I
- 2:14Speaker 1: guess the cost of living is so high there, that's
- 2:16Speaker 1: what they pay. But they're paying for real. They're looking
- 2:18Speaker 1: for somebody who has a little bit of restaurant experience
- 2:21Speaker 1: who will be a dishwasher. And because the tech sector
- 2:24Speaker 1: has laid off so many people in San Francisco, most
- 2:27Speaker 1: of the applicants are people who are like coding experts
- 2:30Speaker 1: wanting to come in and make 50 bucks an hour
- 2:32Speaker 1: scrubbing dishes. The catch is you have to be able
- 2:34Speaker 1: to do it faster than the owner. And if you
- 2:36Speaker 1: look online, he could like scrub 100 dishes in a second.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So if you could do it faster than him, you
- 2:41Speaker 1: come in, you got a $ 50 an hour job. There
- 2:42Speaker 1: you go.
- 2:43Speaker 2: 800-321-0710, 800-321-0710.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Let us go to Josh in Westchester County. Josh, good morning.
- 2:54Speaker 2: All right, Ken. And listen, we're glad you're on, filling
- 2:57Speaker 2: in for Mark. That's a great duo. It's a tandem,
- 3:00Speaker 2: a dynamic duo. But the thing is, I'm an old
- 3:04Speaker 2: Bronx boy, and I think you're an old new Rock
- 3:06Speaker 2: and Shell guy. I am. Yeah, that's good. It's very,
- 3:10Speaker 2: you know, kind of similar. A lot of people would
- 3:13Speaker 2: move to Yonkers and new Shell from the Bronx. But
- 3:16Speaker 2: before I get to Clancy... And what I want to
- 3:20Speaker 2: talk about, I want to say something that will lead
- 3:23Speaker 2: to Clancy. Like, it was 50 years ago that that maniac,
- 3:27Speaker 2: Son of Sam David Berkowitz, was running around murdering young
- 3:32Speaker 2: people in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. And he originally,
- 3:37Speaker 2: people don't realize this, he originally pleaded insanity. But it
- 3:41Speaker 2: was seven months that he was held at a Brooklyn
- 3:44Speaker 2: psych ward. And just before they were supposed to go
- 3:47Speaker 2: to trial, he changed his plea to guilty so there
- 3:51Speaker 2: was no trial. Because he was in that psych ward
- 3:54Speaker 2: for seven months, and he really isn't crazy. I mean,
- 3:56Speaker 2: there is something wrong when we know that. But he
- 3:58Speaker 2: knew what he was doing. He wanted no part of
- 4:01Speaker 2: a psychiatric ward, and he destroyed those families. David Berkowitz
- 4:05Speaker 2: destroyed those families. And the victims of David Berkowitz, the
- 4:08Speaker 2: son of Sam, they will always be remembered. He killed
- 4:11Speaker 2: some really good young kids. Unfortunately, society, we accept this.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I don't accept it, but people accept this. It just
- 4:19Speaker 2: goes on like what happened to the lady Monday at
- 4:21Speaker 2: Times Square. And getting to Clancy, listen, if she knew...
- 4:26Speaker 2: What she was doing, it got told by her husband
- 4:28Speaker 2: to get out of here, to go to the store,
- 4:30Speaker 2: to go to the pharmacy and plan this whole thing.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I think she's it's first degree murder. That's what it
- 4:36Speaker 2: is to me. But I would have to follow Massachusetts law.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And there is a legal definition of insanity. And also,
- 4:43Speaker 2: let's face it, she loses either way because she's going
- 4:46Speaker 2: to go into a state jail prison in Massachusetts. And
- 4:50Speaker 2: people who hurt children are not welcome in state criminal
- 4:54Speaker 2: prisons anymore. And if she goes to a psych ward
- 4:56Speaker 2: and she's really not that crazy, it's not going to
- 4:59Speaker 2: be a comfortable place to be there. But let's hope
- 5:01Speaker 2: they keep her there for like three decades. Yeah.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You know, Josh, can I just, and I'll do a dialogue.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm not going to hang up on you. I just,
- 5:09Speaker 1: the one thing that comes to mind, though, is the
- 5:11Speaker 1: fact that she tried to kill herself suggests the mental
- 5:15Speaker 1: instability there. So, yeah, you know, maybe you could say, well,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it was after the fact. You know, here she already
- 5:20Speaker 1: killed her children. She saw what now she was facing.
- 5:23Speaker 1: So now she attempted. So that's the only thing for
- 5:25Speaker 1: me that suggests the mental instability. That does not, in
- 5:28Speaker 1: my mind, though, condone you from killing the children. But
- 5:32Speaker 1: I do believe that there was mental instability there of
- 5:34Speaker 1: some kind. And we had the caller earlier from the
- 5:37Speaker 1: Carolinas who was saying, I believe her name was Kathy,
- 5:40Speaker 1: who was saying that it is possible to be mentally
- 5:43Speaker 1: unstable even when making a decision to send your husband
- 5:46Speaker 1: to do whatever, that you can be. But again, even
- 5:49Speaker 1: she said that she deserves manslaughter. So Where would you
- 5:53Speaker 1: come down? What do you think it's going to end up?
- 5:55Speaker 2: Again, I would have to follow Massachusetts state criminal law
- 5:59Speaker 2: because every 50 states are all different, plus the commonwealth.
- 6:03Speaker 2: But the thing is, the problem I have is if
- 6:06Speaker 2: she knew what she was doing and she killed the
- 6:11Speaker 2: baby last because she knew one of the two older
- 6:14Speaker 2: ones might have been able to run out and start
- 6:16Speaker 2: screaming and draw attention to this, all right? Right. So
- 6:20Speaker 2: I have to sit on it. But to me, it
- 6:22Speaker 2: looks like if it's a murder convict, it's first degree
- 6:25Speaker 2: because she planned the whole thing out, getting the guy
- 6:27Speaker 2: out of the house. And she was also going to
- 6:29Speaker 2: her phone, seeing what the distance was to that restaurant
- 6:33Speaker 2: that they never used, which was further away from the
- 6:35Speaker 2: one they usually.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Use to take out. We got breaking news. Mistrial declared
- 6:43Speaker 1: in Lindsay Clancy trial just came out.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Uh.
- 6:48Speaker 1: fox news is saying jury deadlocked ms now is saying
- 6:52Speaker 1: mistrial declared so all right we will get uh... and
- 6:56Speaker 1: yeah and cnn now saying clancy judge will declare mistrial
- 7:01Speaker 1: giving defense one hour to appeal for stay so there
- 7:04Speaker 1: you go we'll see where so this is may have
- 7:07Speaker 1: to do it all over again we'll see where that
- 7:08Speaker 1: goes josh i appreciate the call
