- 0:24Guaranteed boom. There it is.
- 0:30That's the intro. Did you guys just get in the
- 0:33zone right there? I I don't know.
- 0:35Clicked in Yeah. There you go.
- 0:36Now we're locked in. Yeah, we're ready to go, I hear.
- 0:39That yeah, you guys have the Eye of the Tiger now.
- 0:43Right on. We're ready to go, man.
- 0:45Very cool. So we got McLean Arbalo out
- 0:47here, right? Is am I saying the last name?
- 0:49Correctly. How do I arbaio?
- 0:50Arbaio. Arbaio 2 LS in Spanish make AY
- 0:53sound. There you go.
- 0:54So you are Hispanic? Yes, Sir.
- 0:55Like full half, half, half. Yep, Yep.
- 0:58My dad is Spanish and yeah, well, Mexican, but yeah.
- 1:03How long, how long have you guys been in Arizona?
- 1:05You're So we moved here. I was born in Albuquerque and we
- 1:09moved here. My brother is 19, so 19 years
- 1:13ago. My mom was pregnant with him
- 1:15when we moved here. Nice.
- 1:16Yeah. My dad got a job building the
- 1:19hotel right next to the Cardinal Stadium.
- 1:21I think he helped on the Cardinal Stadium, too.
- 1:23I don't know. But yeah, that's where we moved.
- 1:26That's awesome, man. Yeah, so we got in contact from
- 1:30the night we were out at Dylan's and we were watching and you
- 1:33were, you were. What event do you do in Rodeo
- 1:36now? I steer, I team rope too but I
- 1:39mainly bulldog. Yeah.
- 1:41And that was what we saw. And I think I reached out to you
- 1:42that night, yeah, through social media and we got to talking and
- 1:46chatting and we were actually supposed to do this a couple
- 1:47weeks ago. And then we have had some things
- 1:49come up as far as this place flooded during that last
- 1:53rainstorm. So I did a bunch of work out
- 1:54here. But no, it's good to finally get
- 1:56you on and kind of hear your story and what you got going on.
- 1:59So tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 2:02Oh, man, I don't know how I feel like, I don't know.
- 2:06I, we moved here, my dad bulldogged, you know, we've
- 2:11always been in the horses and rodeo and stuff.
- 2:13And yeah, we, once we moved here, I mean, we, my dad, we
- 2:18moved out to Whitman and he we got well, I mean, we always had
- 2:23horses and he knew some guys around here, the Bulldogs.
- 2:25So we kind of never really missed a beat once we got here,
- 2:29kind of hit the. Ground So how?
- 2:30How old were you when you started steer wrestling?
- 2:33I was thir. Well, I was 13 when I started
- 2:35jumping. I was probably 11 when I started
- 2:38throwing them on the ground. What does that mean by jumping?
- 2:41So, you know when you jump like you jump off the horse?
- 2:44Yeah. So you weren't just bringing
- 2:45them down, you were just jumping on them and just getting off.
- 2:48No. So I started throwing them on
- 2:49the ground. That's like shoot, dogging them,
- 2:51like just grabbing them, throwing them down when I was
- 2:53probably 10 or 11. OK.
- 2:55And then yeah, I started actually jumping them when I was
- 2:5913. So my dad wanted me to wait till
- 3:01I was 16, but my buddy had a good Black Horse and there was
- 3:05no way that I was not going to do it all.
- 3:07Yeah, and I already like before that, I've made bulldog and
- 3:10horses. We used to set up a dummy and
- 3:12just run past it when we were kids, and my dad would sell them
- 3:16for bulldog and horses. I'd be so mad at me.
- 3:20Yeah, I remember that. His name was Joe Daddy.
- 3:22Who was the first one? How cool is that?
- 3:23Yeah. So how long was it that you were
- 3:25like, learning to do it before you started actually rodeoing?
- 3:30Like pro rodeon, I got my, well, I got my permit when I was in
- 3:35college, like my freshman year in college, I actually went to
- 3:40New Mexico State on a rodeo scholarship down there.
- 3:43And then yeah, we I got my permit then I think my rookie
- 3:47year was 2020, COVID year, which sucked.
- 3:52That was the worst, no? Fans.
- 3:54No fans. And then, man, the rodeos were
- 3:56tough. They would have.
- 3:58Yeah, they'd have 200 guys entered at a normal rodeo that
- 4:03you know what I mean? And they'd have 5 steers that
- 4:05you could be fast on and the rest were whatever they could
- 4:09find. So you didn't get one of them
- 4:11fast ones. It was tough back then.
- 4:14So yeah, that was my rookie year.
- 4:16We went, we went pretty hard that year too.
- 4:19I mean, we went, I went everywhere.
- 4:20I went Sikes to Missouri, Cross at Arkansas, Montana, North
- 4:25Dakota, I mean everywhere that year.
- 4:27It was a lot of fun. And that was your rookie year,
- 4:29correct? Yeah, my rookie year, yeah, we
- 4:32lived in Texas, 'cause there's only so many places that had
- 4:35rodeos, you know, and Arizona had the first one back Cave
- 4:39Creek, and then, I mean, Texas had some Missouri places like
- 4:46that, but New Mexico didn't have any for a while.
- 4:49California, they started having them in like October that year.
- 4:53Yeah. It's like they didn't have
- 4:55Albuquerque, of course, but they had Santa Fe.
- 4:56Yeah, they got some crazy politics over there.
- 4:58I was actually, I was actually in Albuquerque when they
- 5:01announced the lockdown in New Mexico.
- 5:03I was in the airport. I was the last flight out and I
- 5:06was shit in my pants. 'Cause I was like.
- 5:08Fuck, I'm gonna get stuck here. I'm gonna rent a car to get
- 5:11home. I do not wanna be.
- 5:12Here, that's the worst possible place to be locked down.
- 5:15They say that Albuquerque has the most stabbings stabbings per
- 5:19capita in the world. I believe that's.
- 5:21Crazy. Yeah, people stab each other,
- 5:23but there's guns now. Why do you stab each other?
- 5:25You know what I mean? That's.
- 5:26Jacked up downtown Albuquerque is sketch.
- 5:28Yeah, it's not a good place. It's not fun.
- 5:30I hated covering that territory I got.
- 5:31A buddy that's a firefighter out there.
- 5:33Yeah, and like, he stays busy, I'm sure.
- 5:35Well, when I went to line school, I stopped, I stopped at
- 5:39a station and I did like a little ride along with them,
- 5:41dude. And it's like almost every
- 5:44single call we would, we would go on he, you know, we would get
- 5:48there. And he goes, oh, yeah, it's this
- 5:50guy again. Yeah.
- 5:51So they have. Like, oh, I bet.
- 5:53The same freaking guy is over. And over, yeah, that's where my
- 5:55dad was raised. My whole family still or my
- 5:57dad's side still lives over there.
- 5:59Oh, really? Yeah.
- 6:00Some are good, some are bad, you know.
- 6:02It's anywhere that's anywhere you get.
- 6:04You get further W out here and it gets bad.
- 6:06Oh, absolutely. You know, yeah.
- 6:08But that was just a territory then.
- 6:10Like, I mean, you could have, it was available I guess back then,
- 6:14you know, I don't know where you would ever find that crap.
- 6:17But yeah, you know, this shit is just bad over there.
- 6:20It's everywhere. Did you get a a scholarship for
- 6:23college? Yeah, for rodeoing.
- 6:25I did. OK.
- 6:26Yeah. To New Mexico State.
- 6:27Go Aggies, baby. There you go.
- 6:30Did you graduate? Dang right.
- 6:32Yeah. Yeah, 2021.
- 6:34What'd you get your degree in? Like Coors lattes and campus
- 6:38wildlife. No, that's honestly probably a
- 6:43better degree than I got. I got an individualized studies
- 6:47degree with a minor in business and an emphasis on agriculture.
- 6:51OK. What was your what was your plan
- 6:53on? Man called rodeo.
- 6:55Oh, that was it, Yeah. So you didn't care what you were
- 6:57going to study, You just wanted to go rodeo.
- 6:59Yeah, pretty much. Now do they like recruit you at
- 7:01a high school or something or? Yep.
- 7:03Yeah, it's the same as any other sport.
- 7:05OK, so they go to the high school rodeos and I actually
- 7:08seen the coach. Logan Corbett was his name.
- 7:11He's a good dude. A lot of people don't agree with
- 7:14that, but I think he's a good dude, you know?
- 7:17Anyways, he was the coach and he we're at the Safford High School
- 7:21rodeo and I remember he just, we kind of talked for a second and
- 7:24then I was between there and UNLV and then I decided to go
- 7:29with there. So.
- 7:30They were the actual they're the number one party school in the
- 7:33nation, but you're. Like we're going there.
- 7:37Yeah. Pretty much.
- 7:37I always thought ASU was wasn't like.
- 7:39They were top 10. They were, yeah.
- 7:41So is New Mexico State OK? Yeah, I know, Florida states a
- 7:43big one. The Gators.
- 7:45Yeah, yeah. Well, that's the Florida Gators.
- 7:48Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:49Right. Well, that's kind of like a
- 7:50given, right? It's like Florida, but like New
- 7:52Mexico. That's a sleeper right there,
- 7:53man. Right by El Paso in Mexico.
- 7:55Yeah, okay. Yeah, everybody used to go to
- 7:57Juarez cuz it was 8 and parts of El Paso was 18 to drink.
- 8:01Yeah. So yeah, I never went down there
- 8:03cuz well, I mean, I'd go to El Paso all the time, but.
- 8:07Juarez is scary. Juarez is bad.
- 8:09It sounds scary. So is El Paso.
- 8:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. But just the name sounds scary.
- 8:13Yeah, man, if you just mind your business, everybody minds theirs
- 8:16pretty much. Yeah, but they do have one of
- 8:18the coolest minor League Baseball stadiums in the
- 8:20country. Yeah, the Chihuahuas.
- 8:21Yeah, that stadium's dope. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 8:24Yeah. El Paso's a cool city.
- 8:26Yeah. Juarez is not a cool city.
- 8:27No, no, there's nothing. Juarez looks like, like when
- 8:31you're going by Juarez on the, on the 10, you know, in El Paso,
- 8:34it literally looks like like third world countries.
- 8:37So yeah, it's like shacks. U tap the cars in front of U tap
- 8:40and like U tap the college or full of bullet holes.
- 8:43No, it's just. It's Crossfire and Juarez like
- 8:46I'll never forget. And it's funny, but my first
- 8:50trip down there, when I was running the sales team down
- 8:52there, my dad was like, where are you staying at?
- 8:54I'm like, I'm in downtown El Paso.
- 8:55And he's like, does your does your room face Juarez?
- 8:58And I was like, yeah, why? He goes, wait till tonight and I
- 9:01was like, what do you mean he goes watch out your window
- 9:03tonight. He goes it'll look like
- 9:05fireworks and he goes, it's literally tracer fire.
- 9:07And I swear to God, you open up your blinds and you can just see
- 9:10tracer fire going back and forth and shooting at each other.
- 9:12Yeah, they say it's because four different cartels meet up.
- 9:15And Juarez. Oh, really?
- 9:17Yeah, so it's like gang wars non-stop.
- 9:19And it's still like that to this.
- 9:20Day. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 9:22One time we left the sail barn. We used to go.
- 9:25They had a horse sale every couple months in El Paso and we
- 9:29left the sail barn once. It was me, me, Braden Washburn
- 9:32and Wyatt Hershberger. And I think we had fourteen
- 9:34horses loaded and we blew a tire and this freaking Escalade, like
- 9:39we pulled off and this Escalade got right on our ass and stayed
- 9:42there and he pulled off with us and we're like, oh man, this
- 9:45ain't good. He's going to rob us or
- 9:47something, you know, never did anything.
- 9:48Just stayed right on our ass and we kept like crowbars and
- 9:52whatever. We, none of us had any guns and
- 9:55we changed that tire real quick. Flipped a bitch and the
- 9:58Whataburger parking lot got back on the 10.
- 10:00We got on there. He left us alone.
- 10:03I don't know what the deal was. Why?
- 10:05He was kind of watching out for. You guys or something?
- 10:07I know. Yeah.
- 10:08But he was a cartel truck, no doubt.
- 10:11Right? Like you know him down there.
- 10:13Yeah. Well I'm sure they don't want to
- 10:14fuck with just the regular people right?
- 10:17Cuz I don't know. Cuz then I feel like that'll
- 10:19bring more heat on them. I don't know you.
- 10:22Get across? No, if you're that close to the
- 10:23border, that's exactly who they want.
- 10:26Well, yeah, we had a lot of money and well, it looked like a
- 10:28lot of money. Them horses weren't worth
- 10:29nothing, but it looked like we had a lot of money in that rig,
- 10:32so. Yeah, that's you don't want to
- 10:33be, you don't want to be snatched up in Mexico.
- 10:35No, but they all went there were there was a bunch of cartel
- 10:38dudes like at the sale too. Oh, really?
- 10:41Yeah, like it was kind of cool. Well, it wasn't cool, but to me
- 10:44it was because I was like, Dang, this guy's a boss.
- 10:47But anyways, this, you could tell he was the Hefe.
- 10:50He walks in when the race horses came in.
- 10:52Nobody bidded but him. No doubt.
- 10:54Yeah. And he had dudes around like it
- 10:56looked like a movie. It was sweet.
- 10:57That's crazy. Yeah, it was really cool.
- 10:59I think, I think there's like a Netflix documentary about
- 11:01something like that. Maybe Yeah, the race horses.
- 11:04Are big on there yeah where like this like the cartels were
- 11:08buying horses and just kind of it was kind of like a money.
- 11:11Laundering. Laundering, yeah, but now
- 11:13there's big money in it. Oh yeah, it's match racing.
- 11:16Dude, I just saw just two horses.
- 11:18I just saw a reel the other day where I guess they're, they're
- 11:21cloning horses now in like, yeah.
- 11:24Does it work? Yeah, I guess, yeah, they're,
- 11:27they're literally cloning race horses and they're just using
- 11:32them and they just keep cycling them in.
- 11:35They're not like messed up, no, like in the head, no, really.
- 11:39Sometimes they work out and then sometimes they do.
- 11:42Looks like children. Yeah, that's true.
- 11:45I know. I got four of them.
- 11:47Yeah, some of them. Worked out.
- 11:48That's what my dad did. Yeah.
- 11:50He's like my sons and my daughters are good girls, are
- 11:53good chicks. My sons and I don't know about.
- 11:56Them. So how many siblings do you
- 11:57have? I have two sisters and a
- 11:59brother, so there's two of each of us.
- 12:00Where are you at in the age group?
- 12:03Second oldest. I'm the oldest boy.
- 12:06I guess it's my older sister, Me, my little brother and my
- 12:09little sister. Very cool.
- 12:10You guess. What's that you said?
- 12:12You guess, I guess. You're like I'm I'm the second
- 12:15oldest I guess. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:17Remember that that remember that degree I got?
- 12:19Yeah, yeah, I. Skipped a few classes.
- 12:23Yeah, I know. I told you Coors Campus wildlife
- 12:25and Coors Lattes, that's what we majored in there.
- 12:28That's awesome, yeah. How do you like how is steel
- 12:32wrestling compared to like the other rodeos that you feel like?
- 12:36The other events, the other. Events.
- 12:38What do you mean? Like is it, It obviously looks a
- 12:41little bit more physical, right? But.
- 12:43Yeah, honestly. As far as like the like, how
- 12:45hard is it compared to all the other stuff?
- 12:48I feel like we're alphas. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:51I feel like it's the like, I mean, bull riding is scary, you
- 12:55know what I mean? But it's bull riding and then
- 12:59like team roping is team roping. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:02Bulldogging is kind of, I feel like the Bulldoggers are kind of
- 13:06everybody's like Big Brother. You know there's a lot that can
- 13:10go wrong. There.
- 13:11Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, It's happened.
- 13:13Yeah, yeah. Shit's happened.
- 13:15I mean, I've torn. I've torn my PEC.
- 13:17I broke my nose three times. I blow my knee, my shoulder, my
- 13:22elbows, right, my hands. Did you watch the finals last
- 13:25night? Oh yeah, I can't believe he won
- 13:27with a broken leg. Tucker.
- 13:28No, he didn't. What's So who's the guy that's
- 13:31in? Yeah, no.
- 13:33There was one of the. Yeah, there was a dude out there
- 13:35that broke his leg or, or. One of the Bulldoggers, yeah, it
- 13:39was Jorgo. He blew his knee out.
- 13:41Oh, is that what it was? Yeah, he was lumping off.
- 13:43Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's crazy.
- 13:44Yeah, He won the round. Oh, the round.
- 13:46Yeah, yeah. Not the world champ, No world
- 13:48champs. Tuck.
- 13:49Yeah, Tuck earned it. That's my boy.
- 13:51Do you know him? Oh, yeah, really.
- 13:52I know all them guys. That's cool.
- 13:54Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're all good buddies.
- 13:55That's cool, man. Yeah.
- 13:56Were. You hanging out with them last
- 13:57week in Vegas when we were there.
- 13:59Man, no, I'm not really. I'm weird in Vegas.
- 14:04Yeah, yeah. Like that.
- 14:05That stuff's like sacred ground to me.
- 14:07Like that's the finals. You know what I mean?
- 14:08You got to earn your right to be there.
- 14:09It's not. Everybody's there to party and
- 14:12stuff. Not me.
- 14:13Yeah, yeah, I'm there. I mean, like I was there for my
- 14:16girl last week, watching her, but I'm not.
- 14:19I'm not too kind of. You're there to go to work.
- 14:22Kind of, yeah. Like you wouldn't be there to
- 14:24earn your spot there, right? Yeah, I feel like I like, it's
- 14:28not my place, you know what I mean?
- 14:29Yeah. So yeah, I'm just I'm.
- 14:31Is that? Is that one of your goals?
- 14:33Is. To always is to reach that.
- 14:35I think that's everybody's but yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:37How close? How close are you to that?
- 14:39Man, I feel like right now I'm closer than ever.
- 14:41Really. Really.
- 14:42Yeah. I just confidence wise, it's
- 14:46taken me 10 years to learn what that means.
- 14:48People try to explain what, you know, having mentality and stuff
- 14:51means. But they'd I honestly, I mean,
- 14:53not being a jerk, but I don't think they know what that means.
- 14:55Yeah. So I think it takes a long time
- 14:57to learn it. I mean it for me.
- 14:58It did. What is it like?
- 15:00Tuck's two years younger than me, you know what I mean?
- 15:01And he learned it. He's known it forever.
- 15:03I've asked him questions about it, you know?
- 15:06Yeah. And his version of it.
- 15:07My version of it. What's your version, man?
- 15:10It's it's just a confidence thing.
- 15:12Yeah, to me, you know, you got to get that mentality is
- 15:17everybody talks about like the mental game and stuff.
- 15:19But like I said, it took me 10 years to learn to get to where
- 15:23it's like, yeah, I'm going to win that or I expect it, you
- 15:26know what I mean? So if I don't, then it's like,
- 15:28oh, shoot, what? You know, I was thinking or
- 15:31something but. There's an investment into
- 15:33figuring that out. Oh, I literally invested in
- 15:36classes. Yeah, I think.
- 15:37That's what a lot of people don't understand is it's not
- 15:40something you just wake up one day and you're like, oh, I get
- 15:42it. No, no, You know what I mean?
- 15:43Yeah. I took classes for a long time
- 15:45with a a sports psychologist. And then she was a sports
- 15:50hypnosis. Really.
- 15:52Yeah. She'd hypnotize you.
- 15:53Oh, wow. Yeah, she's Miss Tracy.
- 15:55Shout out Miss Tracy. That's cool.
- 15:57Yeah, well, I see that. So I was scrolling through your
- 16:00Instagram and one of your sponsors is a MMA gym.
- 16:05Yeah, right. So yes, Sir, you, you do a lot
- 16:08of working out and getting ready for that.
- 16:10Yeah. Your body has to be physically
- 16:12fit for this. Yeah, it's funny.
- 16:13I wasn't like my rookie year. I was 265.
- 16:18I was a big boy. I was heavy and slow and fat and
- 16:22you know what I mean? And then I found Glenn that
- 16:24Baker's MMA and man, we just started pumping some iron and
- 16:29kind of getting after a little bit and I lost 30 lbs first and
- 16:33I was like 235 and I'm like, man, but I was still slow and I
- 16:36didn't feel springy, you know what I mean?
- 16:37I didn't feel like I, it'd take me 10 years to learn it, but I
- 16:40didn't feel like I learned what body parts to try to engage, you
- 16:45know, what muscles to engage. And fighting's the closest thing
- 16:48to bulldogging for me that I could kind of use that to
- 16:52engage. So, and I was 235 and I was
- 16:54still slow. So I got down to like 180 and
- 16:59that was light for me. Like I was, I was skin and bones
- 17:02and I had no strength. So then I'm like, man, I got to
- 17:05find a happy, happy medium. So I got to 195, which is where
- 17:10I'm at now. Base Thanksgiving not that long
- 17:13ago. I'm like, I'm like 2, a little
- 17:16over 200. But we're not college degree.
- 17:17Yeah, we're not going to talk about that.
- 17:19We're not going to talk about it, but especially after next
- 17:22week Christmas, right? You know what I mean?
- 17:24We won't we won't talk about it. But anyways I started to stay
- 17:26around 200 one 95 and try to stay you know springy type
- 17:32working out so. Yeah, 'cause I was surprised the
- 17:34winner last night was like 185. Tuck.
- 17:36Yeah, on a good day. He's 185.
- 17:39He's getting bigger, though. Yeah.
- 17:41I mean, I've known him for a long time when he was younger.
- 17:43He wasn't, he wasn't his stout. He's getting Pretty Little more
- 17:47muscular. What's like the most important
- 17:49part of steer wrestling? Is it the start?
- 17:52Is it the takedown? Your head?
- 17:56Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 17:58But that's all of life to me, right?
- 18:00Yeah. Honestly, it's all perspective.
- 18:04Well, besides that though, like as far as like the physicality
- 18:07of it, yeah cuz I mean like, dude, they just make it look so
- 18:10easy, right? But I know it's not easy.
- 18:13No, none of this shit's easy. But yeah, I mean, sometimes I
- 18:18just see riders, they'll like, I don't know, I don't want to,
- 18:21like, discredit anybody, right? Yeah, no, none of them events.
- 18:25Yeah, all of them got. It, but it's like, dude, I don't
- 18:28know, like is it getting off the horse?
- 18:31That's the hardest. Yeah, Like what it like, what is
- 18:33it that like that like that like gets people other than like the
- 18:37I. Would think that's the hardest
- 18:38part to overcome is like I'm going to jump off this horse
- 18:41going how it. Just on the first one.
- 18:43Maybe like the timing, the timing of getting on?
- 18:45Yeah, just the know how kind of I don't know.
- 18:48I feel like people have advantages, you know, sort of
- 18:52speak so I can't you just have to figure out what your
- 18:54advantage is kind of yeah, you know, like mine.
- 18:58I feel like like don't know, like your sides and your core.
- 19:04Yeah, maybe your legs. I mean your legs take the most
- 19:06beating for sure, but you have to know how to use them, you
- 19:10know, like you don't. You have to know especially like
- 19:13I'm not the biggest, but you know how to use what I got
- 19:16because I'm not smallest either. Yeah, you just, I would think 1.
- 19:20You got to trust your horse right To put you in the place
- 19:21to. You got to get on a good one.
- 19:23Yeah, yeah. And then two, you got to
- 19:24understand how your body works, right?
- 19:25You really got to know how your. Body works for sure.
- 19:28And it's funny because the Bulldoggers back in the day, you
- 19:31know, they're the beer drinker, Copenhagen chewers, you know
- 19:35what I mean? Like my dad back in his day,
- 19:38they, they drank Coors Light and Drew steers and ate as much as
- 19:42they could and tried to get as big as they could.
- 19:43And you know what I mean? But nowadays the cows are
- 19:45getting smaller, so we have to know how to handle ourselves.
- 19:49And them going Mach 90, you know, that's the fastest you'll
- 19:53go on a horse, period. Yeah.
- 19:56That's why it's the fastest event.
- 19:58Yeah. But yeah, I mean, one of my
- 20:00buddy's wives, he's a, well, he's an NFR bulldogger and his
- 20:04wife run barrels really good, you know?
- 20:06And she wanted a haze for him real bad.
- 20:08And she kept asking, kept asking and and she and she was a hand,
- 20:11you know, she run barrels really good.
- 20:13And he's like, all right, I'll let you haze one time for me.
- 20:16So he puts her in there and he's, he's like, I'm not going
- 20:18to get off on this steer because she's not going to like get
- 20:22there, you know? And she said she dropped her
- 20:24hand and she said that she dropped her hand and she grabbed
- 20:27the saddle horn and was like, Oh my God, I don't.
- 20:29Want to do a rocket? Yeah, yeah.
- 20:31And she said she got to the back end hand on the horse, never
- 20:33asked Hayes again. She said it was so zero to 100
- 20:38as fast as that horse could run that it scared the hell out of.
- 20:41Her I guess I didn't even think about that.
- 20:43So because I kept thinking to myself, I'm like, I keep hearing
- 20:45that and there's just no way. Because you see how fast the
- 20:48barrel horses come out, but they have a runway.
- 20:51Yeah, they're getting heads before you go, Yeah.
- 20:53But you're right, like they come, they come firing out of a
- 20:55cannon when they come out of that box.
- 20:57Yep, that's why I think of that. People ask like, man, why are
- 21:00the bulldogging horses so crazy or something like that?
- 21:03I mean, you get backed in a corner with a 200 plus pound guy
- 21:07on your back that's getting ready to kick the absolute air
- 21:09out of ya. Yeah, and run as fast as you
- 21:11can. If you slow down, he gonna be
- 21:13pissed, right? Right.
- 21:14You know what I mean? Takes a special kind of horse to
- 21:16do that, yeah. And they know.
- 21:17That's their job. They know it.
- 21:18Yeah. A bulldogging horse is just like
- 21:20a bulldogger. Yeah.
- 21:21They got like a like like a swag about them and you know what I
- 21:24mean? Yeah, for sure.
- 21:26For sure. Yeah.
- 21:27They like going fast. You know what I mean?
- 21:29Just like us. Yeah.
- 21:30Yeah. That's cool.
- 21:31You can always tell. Are they mostly like quarter
- 21:34horses? Or yeah, all of them.
- 21:35Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't. I mean, I'm sure there's
- 21:37different, you know, I'm sure people have used thoroughbreds
- 21:40and stuff before, but. Not us.
- 21:43Now, how important is the hazers for you guys?
- 21:47Oh, everything. Everything.
- 21:48Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 21:50They they're done. Yeah.
- 21:52All right, I'll tell you what they say about hazers.
- 21:55And this is what an old bulldogger told me.
- 21:58Suck one cock. You're a cock sucker, miss.
- 22:00One hazier cock sucker. That's how much pressure is on
- 22:03hazing. You know what I mean?
- 22:04Yeah. Like, and it's like, I'm not
- 22:07going to straight up if you miss, but I'm not going to call
- 22:09you that. You know what I mean?
- 22:11But in your head, the guy who actually missed the haze is
- 22:14going to be like, oh man, I'm such a cock sucker, you know
- 22:16what I mean? Like you're just going to feel
- 22:17like you're this. Bitch.
- 22:18And so like, their job is to be right on the other side.
- 22:21Their job, they control your run.
- 22:23Like, you get a good hazer that could, that knows you.
- 22:26And he doesn't have to be the best hazer in the world.
- 22:28He's just got to know you. He can completely set up
- 22:31everything for you. Really.
- 22:32Yeah. Like if he's up there on a good
- 22:34horse and you got one that runs a little bit and he gets up in
- 22:38their eye and he knows the start you're taking and then you're
- 22:40going to pinch them off right here, you're going to be fast on
- 22:43them. You know, like I think 2 nights
- 22:45ago at the finals, Justin Schafer was 3/6 on one and
- 22:49that's you're supposed to run. If you watch him and tuck, they
- 22:52shut that steer down. They made that whole run up, you
- 22:55know what I mean? That's why they're faster.
- 22:57Damn every. It's so it's so fast that you
- 22:59have to, I mean, you calculate everything.
- 23:01Yeah. Yeah, we're not just, I mean.
- 23:04Like some guys will haze for several riders, right?
- 23:06Oh yeah, when you haze, good. Yeah, you're busy.
- 23:08Yeah. That's do you like split, do
- 23:11they get split the money of the of the winnings and all that?
- 23:14Yeah. So if it's if the hazer owns the
- 23:18haze horse and the bullogging horse, it's a quarter 25%.
- 23:22If it's just like the hazer and the haze horse, it's 12 1/2.
- 23:24OK, OK. It's like a caddy.
- 23:27Yeah, is that? Golfing A caddy, right?
- 23:29Like a caddy gets paid every time a golfer plays.
- 23:31Yeah, but I mean, if you see, like if you see a guy miss a
- 23:35haze, I promise you he did not do it on purpose, right?
- 23:38You know what I mean? That's what that's where that
- 23:40saying comes from. Yeah.
- 23:41It's like, man, there's so much pressure.
- 23:42You want that guy to win so much.
- 23:44Now, are these like hazers? Like wanting?
- 23:47Are they just like young Cowboys that like I want to be a hazer
- 23:50when I grow up or are they just. Kind of old steers.
- 23:52They're all bulldoggers, OK? Yeah.
- 23:54So they kind of know what you're going through to get.
- 23:57Yeah, most of the time we haze for each other.
- 23:59OK. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:01Like, yeah, all the Bulldoggers hates for each other.
- 24:05Bulldoggers. That's why I said they're like
- 24:06everybody's older brother. Bulldoggers are like, I mean,
- 24:09we're cool, you know what I mean?
- 24:10We're not, we're not Dicks. We're all, we're all chilling.
- 24:13We're helping each other out. Yeah, all homies with each other
- 24:16and. Stuff.
- 24:16Yeah, yeah, that's cool. Yeah, that's awesome, man.
- 24:19So I can't even imagine like going that fast that it's.
- 24:21Fun, dude. Yeah, it's awesome.
- 24:23Like team roping's cool, Yeah. You know what I mean?
- 24:26But like, bull logging's different.
- 24:27Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:28I always say, like bull logging's my wife, team roping's
- 24:31my mistress, you know, like team roping I can have and whatever.
- 24:34It's fun, you know? But bull logging I have to have,
- 24:37right? I got, I have to sleep with that
- 24:38bull logging every single night, right?
- 24:40You know what I mean? It's what ticks us.
- 24:42And every bull logger's the same.
- 24:44If you're a real Bulldogger, that's all you think of.
- 24:46Yeah. And you can ask any bulldogger's
- 24:49wife they will. Yeah.
- 24:50That's all Bulldogger thinks of. Yeah.
- 24:53How? Often do you train?
- 24:55Like practice, we're going to like, we're going to practice
- 24:57that like today. Yeah.
- 25:00I don't know. I used to a lot more when I was
- 25:02younger. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:03And then I I've been hurt a lot. So I kind of felt like, you
- 25:08know, when I'm learning myself now and you know, I'm getting
- 25:11older, getting to be a grown man or whatever it it, I kind of
- 25:15learned that gyms and. Recovery.
- 25:18Yeah, and mental. And, you know, I don't even have
- 25:21my own bulldogging horse. I ride everybody else's.
- 25:23So yeah, as long as they keep their horses sharp, I'll stay.
- 25:26I'll keep myself sharp and I'll be all right.
- 25:28Nice. Where are you practicing at
- 25:29today? My dad's house and yeah, in
- 25:32Whitman here, so. Now you're sponsored, you have
- 25:36other sponsors, right? Yep, Cinch jeans, Weaver Leather
- 25:40Synergy by Weaver and Tri Line Incorporated.
- 25:45OK, very cool. Now, do they help you get to
- 25:47these rodeos and entry fees? And all that, I didn't do
- 25:50nothing. They no, I'm just kidding.
- 25:53Yeah. Cinch.
- 25:53I've had cinch forever. I've had cinch since I was, I
- 25:59was in college. And I know I got it 'cause I I
- 26:04was jacked. I was at my little brother's
- 26:06football. I, I don't know, it's probably
- 26:072018-2019. So like 6 years.
- 26:11I've had Weaver for like 7-8 years and then I've had Baker 7
- 26:17made for like 5 years and then Tri line's been kind of hit or
- 26:20miss. It's one of my buddies deals.
- 26:23They're construction business and he's helped me a lot.
- 26:25You know he, he would help me when I was going rodeoing and
- 26:29stuff. Cinch and Weaver, they just kind
- 26:32of, we keep, you know, all their, all their items around
- 26:36and stuff like that. So just use them and everything.
- 26:38Yeah, we just use them. That's all I use.
- 26:40And honestly, I got, I got those two because they're the best.
- 26:45Yeah, you know, I wanted those two.
- 26:47Those are what I wanted. And when I first started, Cinch
- 26:51wasn't allowed in the arena. Oh, really?
- 26:53Yeah, they just changed that. Why three years ago?
- 26:56Because Wrangler was the main sponsor of the TRCA, so it was a
- 27:00conflicting sponsorship. And they paid a lot of money to
- 27:03the PRCA. Yeah, Yeah.
- 27:05But we had not this CEO, but the CEO before he switched that.
- 27:12And everyone's like, oh, dude, the PRCA is going to go broke.
- 27:14But honestly, it's just getting better.
- 27:16So they're working together and just trying to give us the most
- 27:19money. Yeah, it's it's just getting
- 27:21better every year. I mean, Tucker won $400,000 last
- 27:24year doing what he loves. That's awesome.
- 27:27Yeah, that's awesome. You know what I mean?
- 27:28Not including what he makes from his sponsors.
- 27:30I didn't realize. I didn't even realize how much
- 27:32money is in though. Big Money Man 40,000 a night
- 27:35this past week. What did Trevor say is like 12
- 27:38million in one? Day payouts last night.
- 27:40Oh, probably. Just with all the events.
- 27:42Yeah, I don't know that. I don't know the actual number,
- 27:44but yeah, it wouldn't surprise me.
- 27:45Vegas has so much money, though. That's all that town is, is
- 27:48money. Oh yeah, yeah, that's my.
- 27:50Favorite two weeks would be in Vegas.
- 27:52Hell yeah. That's the only time that's
- 27:54right here. Yeah.
- 27:55It it's just different, you know, that's why I mean, that's
- 27:59what I'm saying like earlier, everyone like last week, they're
- 28:03like, oh, you're going to the back number ceremony, you're
- 28:04going to the, you know, the buck presentation after.
- 28:07No, there's some things, like for me personally, I would like
- 28:10to experience on the other side of that.
- 28:12Yeah, You know what I mean? Sacred.
- 28:13Yeah, that's sacred to me. But I still am going to go there
- 28:17and you know, and hang out and support my buddies and use that.
- 28:21You want to see that when you're getting lost.
- 28:24You love it, huh? He's peanut butter and jellis.
- 28:28Never heard. That one that's.
- 28:34Awesome, man, That's cool. Yeah, well, the one complaint I
- 28:36would have about Vegas is their rails, man.
- 28:38Like they need to. They need to tie down those
- 28:40rails that they have there. On what?
- 28:42Everywhere. Shit, you didn't see our Do you
- 28:46follow us at all on social media?
- 28:48Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so we were joking around,
- 28:50right? Stretching how millennials
- 28:52stretch before they dance. Did you see that?
- 28:54I didn't watch that. My wife and his wife, they're
- 28:57stretching and stuff like that. Well, there's a railing where we
- 29:00were at The MGM, right and in the bar.
- 29:03So I go over and I put my leg up on it and I'm stretching.
- 29:06This dumb shit goes over instead of sticking his leg up, grabs it
- 29:10and goes to lean back and pulls the entire section of railing
- 29:13over on himself. And it was so funny to see.
- 29:16They kick you out. No, no, no.
- 29:18They helped us put it back up. He was like, oh shit.
- 29:20Re wasted. No, no.
- 29:22So they probably knew, yeah. But what was funny?
- 29:25Like what was funny, funny as you saw all the Cowboys just
- 29:27come, yeah, just start fixing fence.
- 29:30I was like, Oh yeah, it. Was.
- 29:31It was hilarious. We all were like.
- 29:33They could hear their dad yelling at him in the
- 29:35background. Got right.
- 29:36To it, yeah. It was just so funny because I
- 29:38was like, when I grabbed it, I felt that it was loose, right?
- 29:42Like I knew it wasn't well. I didn't even see you grabbing.
- 29:45Got that college degree. I didn't.
- 29:46Yeah, exactly she would. Yeah, he's still drinking Coors
- 29:50lattes. I hear you.
- 29:51That's right. Yeah.
- 29:52Yeah. I slowed down.
- 29:53I can't drink. I suck at drinking.
- 29:56Yeah. Like I don't like that word Suck
- 29:58is, but the only time I use it in my vocabulary is when I talk
- 30:01about drinking because I suck at drinking.
- 30:03Yeah, it's hard. Yeah, it is.
- 30:05And I don't know anybody that's that good at it.
- 30:07A lot of people keep trying. I just hate the next day.
- 30:10Yeah, I've got a buddy, Brian. He's full of Irish.
- 30:14You don't drink with that guy? No, we drank till like 3:00 one
- 30:17morning and had to get up for meetings the next day.
- 30:19The dude got up and went to the gym before the meeting.
- 30:22Wow. I was drunk for three days.
- 30:23Yeah, yeah, I couldn't do it. Like I I just can't function.
- 30:26Like they're raised on it. Yeah, that's.
- 30:28Crazy, crazy, but yeah. I'll throw up after 2 beers.
- 30:33Are you like a whiskey guy? I'll.
- 30:35I'll probably throw up after 2 whiskeys.
- 30:37I'll just suck at drinking. Yeah, it's probably.
- 30:39A good thing I'm not even drunk. I just.
- 30:41I don't know. It doesn't suit.
- 30:42It doesn't suit well with me anymore.
- 30:45Yeah, it used to. Thanks for your call.
- 30:48I think so. I honestly, yeah.
- 30:50I try not to admit it, but I think so.
- 30:52Too much Coors lattes in college.
- 30:53Yeah. Well, here let's take a
- 30:54commercial break and then shout out to our sponsors and then
- 30:57we'll come right back. We'd like to take a moment and

- 33:08deal. Yeah, it it was fun when it
- 33:10lasted. I I think I was listening to a
- 33:13podcast actually about a different bulldogger and he was
- 33:17like, man, I put on this goat rope and once and I made bank.
- 33:21He said, I remember I left and I had like 2500 in my pocket cash
- 33:26and I was like Dang at 1st and I was like 2500.
- 33:30You know, looking back I'm like shit 2500, but you know what I
- 33:34mean. But anyways, so once he said
- 33:37that, I'm like, well, that's easy.
- 33:39I could freaking do that. Yeah.
- 33:41And so I, I started just doing it.
- 33:46I just kind of, whenever I get to an idea, I just kind of start
- 33:49doing it. But I start doing it and I'd get
- 33:54all my goats from random backyard people.
- 33:58Everybody in Queen Creek has a goat in their back.
- 34:00Three fainting goats right there.
- 34:01You know what I mean? I mean, they weren't all
- 34:03fainting goats, but. And by the time I would put some
- 34:06on Facebook, I was the only one doing it back then.
- 34:08So by the time I would put some on Facebook, I would have.
- 34:12Everybody was so tired of their goats, they'd give them to me
- 34:14for free. Oh, really?
- 34:15Yeah. So I mean, I honestly, I swear,
- 34:18dude. So yeah, my biggest.
- 34:20Other two. Yeah, yeah, they're so tired of
- 34:23them. They had no, and I mean, and
- 34:24they're not the the little ones, like no offense, those ones and
- 34:27stuff. They're not worth anything.
- 34:28No, they're, you know, they're pets.
- 34:30Yeah. And so I would get, I mean, I
- 34:33would have big little. I have some messed up goat
- 34:37stories. I was full into it.
- 34:38I mean, one time my poor dad, I had 100 goats at his house.
- 34:43Yeah, well, I put on Goat Open two nights a week so I'd have a
- 34:46Thursday and a Friday pen. And the one here at Dylan's was
- 34:49massive. You know, like they're they're
- 34:51doing all right now with theirs. But I mean, we changed the whole
- 34:56ball game with that stuff, honestly.
- 34:57Like, I remember when I was a kid that Luke Kraut guy was
- 35:01telling you about him and his wife did it and I loved him.
- 35:06And I feel like, I mean, if they had a like a world championship
- 35:08for goat Open, I'd be 30 time world champion.
- 35:11Yeah. I mean, I grew up, I grew up a
- 35:13goat. And so I used to always enter
- 35:16his goat opens and I would freaking kick their butt at him.
- 35:19And I used to get in trouble in high school for going to goat
- 35:22opens late and getting getting home late, you know what I mean?
- 35:25And anyways, so I was like, man, I got to, I got to start doing
- 35:30that goat Open. So I did the goat roping and
- 35:33yeah, we give, we give all kinds of, I mean, I can show you
- 35:35pictures on my phone. We'd have our biggest night we
- 35:38had, I cut them off at 500 teams.
- 35:42Holy shit. Out of out of goat roping, dude.
- 35:45Damn. Yeah.
- 35:47That's why like people are like, oh, we got like, I mean, I've
- 35:50heard of a bunch of people have told me like, oh, we got like 50
- 35:53teams is awesome. Or 100 teams or 200 teams.
- 35:55I'm like 200 teams was a slow Thursday for me.
- 35:59Wow. Yeah.
- 36:00Like, I mean, I'd cut them off at 3:50, dude, every single
- 36:03Thursday and Friday. Yeah, everyone.
- 36:06And I mean, and I wouldn't only bring like the bars would pay me
- 36:09to go. So I I wouldn't only I'm like,
- 36:12man, I'm not just going to come here and put on our opens.
- 36:14We're all going to make some money with this thing.
- 36:16So like George Dillon's there. He's like, all right, Dill dude.
- 36:20And yeah, I mean, I, I could give you big numbers of what
- 36:23they made one night from one of my gutter opens.
- 36:25And I mean, he didn't pay me much 'cause I didn't make my
- 36:27money on the gutter opens. But yeah, we're all, I mean, I'd
- 36:30bring a crowd. There'd be like at Dylan's, they
- 36:33used to have I they used to put bleachers around to go rope and
- 36:36there'd be people, I mean, hanging over the bleachers like
- 36:38a damn rap concert and everything.
- 36:41That's cool. Yeah, I was ranked.
- 36:42How did you? Were you just advertising it on
- 36:45Facebook or? Yeah, advertising.
- 36:47Hard at it, huh? Yep, Yep.
- 36:49I feel like Facebook is everybody's best friend.
- 36:51If you want it to be like it's such, you have to learn to use
- 36:54it. You got to learn to use it.
- 36:55Like, I don't, I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a vice, you know
- 36:58what I mean? And it's social media and none
- 37:00of that stuff's good, but it if you use it right, it could be
- 37:04such a tool. Yeah, you know, well, if you're.
- 37:06Going to be in business for anything, anything you have to
- 37:08be able to use social. Yeah, and it's, I mean, and I
- 37:11don't have a million followers on nothing or nothing, but I
- 37:14know that if I keep posting annoying crap, someone's going
- 37:18to see it eventually, right. You know what I mean?
- 37:20And it takes one. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:22Especially now with like the real estate stuff that I only
- 37:25want that one person. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:27So yeah, that's how I the goats. And then dude, I mean, the first
- 37:32year we'd get like this one time we had one and I learned my
- 37:37lesson, but I was, I was entering them.
- 37:40And like I said, I could be a world champ goat Roper.
- 37:43And I, these boys from Arkansas came over and my goat roping was
- 37:47called Arizona goat roping. We rope goats in Arizona, you
- 37:51know what I mean? And especially around here,
- 37:53every Navajo boy next to you can damn sure rope a goat, you know
- 37:58what I mean? Like ain't no joke.
- 37:59And me and I can't, I always roped with this one kid, his
- 38:06name is Brody. And that kid, all he did was
- 38:08rope goats. Like he rope goats and now he
- 38:10ropes really good. But I mean he does rope goats
- 38:13all day. So I always roped with him and
- 38:15me and him demolished everybody if we entered, you know, and
- 38:18these boys from Arkansas, they're quick.
- 38:20They're like 2 on a goat or one on a goat or something.
- 38:24Me and that Brody were .94 on our first one and they were
- 38:29talking shit. So we were .61 on our second
- 38:32one. Then boys pulled up their rigs
- 38:36because I used to back my trailer into Dillon's into the
- 38:39entry. I couldn't get out.
- 38:41They were pissed. Oh shit, yeah, they were going
- 38:43to my brother. Like my brother, I love him to
- 38:46death. But they they were like, come
- 38:48on, let's go outside. My brother's over the fence
- 38:50going. He's like, let's go, you know
- 38:53what I mean? He's like, I'm not kidding.
- 38:54And yeah, I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 38:57And I mean, they're from Arkansas, so I'm like, them boys
- 38:59got stuff. And they were sitting out front
- 39:02like of our truck with like freaking ARS hanging out.
- 39:05I mean, yeah, they're going to shoot us over a damn goat
- 39:07roping. It's.
- 39:08Just because they couldn't beat you?
- 39:09Yeah, Yeah. And they were like, oh, you
- 39:12cheated. I'm like, bro, you could time.
- 39:15Yeah. And then I would always let him
- 39:16pick the goat. Yeah.
- 39:18Because I knew him so good. You know that I'm like, I don't
- 39:21care. So I quit entering for a long
- 39:23time. And then finally, like the year
- 39:26or two after that, I started entering again and then I just
- 39:29got tired of the go roping, dude.
- 39:30Yeah, I was like, man, it's go roping.
- 39:32I feel like I got man champagne taste and that is not a
- 39:36champagne dream right there. Were you?
- 39:38Were you doing something other than go roping?
- 39:41Oh yeah, I was. I shot horses forever and
- 39:44rodeoed and man, whatever. Whatever.
- 39:47Honestly, I always have done whatever I can do to go more
- 39:49rodeos. Yeah, it ain't cheap.
- 39:52Yeah, no doubt. Now you're doing real estate,
- 39:53too. Yep, real estate.
- 39:55How long you had your license doing that?
- 39:57A little over a year, be two years this year I guess.
- 40:00Yep. And it honestly, my rookie
- 40:03everything is a competition to me so.
- 40:05My rookie year in real estate was great.
- 40:07Yeah. I couldn't ask for a better
- 40:09rookie year. That was last year, right?
- 40:11Yeah. OK, Yeah.
- 40:12And then how was your sophomore year going?
- 40:14Well, this coming to my sophomore is still the end of my
- 40:17rookie, I guess. OK, Yeah.
- 40:18So 2025 was your first years? Or first full year.
- 40:21Yeah, I got, I got my license in, you know, September,
- 40:26whatever. I got it in September or
- 40:30whatever the year before. So yeah, my first rookie year
- 40:33was awesome. That's awesome.
- 40:34Yeah. And I had man, I just, I, I kind
- 40:36of like I said, I when I jump into stuff, I try to jump into
- 40:39it. Yeah.
- 40:41How? Come How come you went into real
- 40:42estate? So every I like listening a lot.
- 40:46My dad told me the smartest person in the room is the guy
- 40:49that's listening the most. And so I try to listen to
- 40:53everybody and everybody. And I listen a lot of podcasts
- 40:55and I love like documentaries and stuff and everybody anytime
- 40:59they talk about wealth, they talk about real estate, some
- 41:02form of real estate. Well, I ain't got no money and I
- 41:06don't have anything. So what I do have is the, or I
- 41:10could learn the knowledge to, you know, have some finger in
- 41:14the real estate game. There's so much money in it, you
- 41:17know what I mean? So that's kind of where I got
- 41:19started. And then I men being bent over
- 41:21shooting them horses. You'll sure think of a whole lot
- 41:24more stuff, right? You know what I mean?
- 41:25Which they're farriers are awesome.
- 41:29I still shoot some horses, you know what I mean?
- 41:32It's one of the only jobs you can have $0.00 in your bank
- 41:34account at 8:00 AM and 1000 at noon.
- 41:37You know what I mean? Pretty easy.
- 41:39So and it's one of the only jobs you could do that every day, you
- 41:42know, and you make your own hours.
- 41:43So shooting horses there is awesome job.
- 41:46So I it's hard. On your back.
- 41:48It's hard on your whole body. It's hard on my leg, my, my hips
- 41:52and stuff when they jerk, you know, and I'm like I said, I'm
- 41:55not small, but I'm not big. And so they it's meant for
- 41:59smaller guys like you just don't have to bend over as far.
- 42:02So now you're also, what's the new venture that you're doing?
- 42:05Dirt, Dirt and grading. Yeah, that's kinda we've we
- 42:10kinda hit the ground running with that too.
- 42:12So yeah, I, like I said, I listen to a lot of stuff and
- 42:17they. Have you ever heard of the book
- 42:19Rich Dad? Poor dad.
- 42:20Oh yeah, I read it. That book changed my life.
- 42:22Yeah. So I just feel like he talks a
- 42:24lot about assets and you might like buying certain assets and
- 42:29stuff like that. Well, equipment's an asset
- 42:31completely, you know what I mean?
- 42:33And like I said, I don't, I have, I have common sense.
- 42:36I feel like, you know, and my dad's in construction and all my
- 42:40buddies that have anything are all construction, so I want a
- 42:43finger in that too. Yeah, there's always going to be
- 42:45a need. Yeah, right.
- 42:46And that's absolutely. I think that's the funny part is
- 42:49like a lot of entrepreneurs look for something that's flashy
- 42:52right now. Yeah, but most of it's not
- 42:54sustainable. Yeah, right.
- 42:56Like, so HVAC and plumbing and electrical and all those, those
- 43:00are all sustainable. You're always, always going to
- 43:02need that, right. Groundwork is always going to
- 43:04need to. Be absolutely.
- 43:06And I feel like if I have enough pennies in the game, it'll make
- 43:08a dollar one day. Sure, you know what I mean?
- 43:11Like I, I could be the smallest business here and smallest here,
- 43:14This, this, this, this or whatever.
- 43:16I always have the real estate. I always have my college degree
- 43:20and I always got shooting horses no matter what.
- 43:22Now I got equipment I could sell that sucker and it'd be all
- 43:25right, you know what I mean? Or whatever I got to do.
- 43:28So there's always stuff like that, I feel like.
- 43:30So yeah, just buying assets and. Well, you also have a job that
- 43:36is a little flexible, right? I mean all of them if you if you
- 43:38want to go do your rodeo stuff and you have to travel.
- 43:41Yeah, well, like last year I went.
- 43:44I went on the California run, which I've never been before.
- 43:47I never had enough money to go. So I went because real estate.
- 43:50So I was able to go and I could still work out there.
- 43:53Every time I was rodeoing, I was like, man, I wish I could have a
- 43:55job that I could do out here. Well, real estate, I can't.
- 43:58Yeah, you know what I mean? I mean, I can't show houses and
- 44:00stuff, but I can mark it, right? Right.
- 44:03I can take my computer and if I have stuff in escrow, I could
- 44:06get it done, right? You know what I mean?
- 44:08I could schedule inspections, I could do whatever I need to do.
- 44:11Outside of. Showing outside, respond to
- 44:12emails, that's how I mean, it's not, it's a lot easier than
- 44:15shooting horses, but you know what I mean?
- 44:17That's how easy it is for me. So I was able and I, I have a
- 44:21little Verizon business deal that I could take Wi-Fi boxes on
- 44:25the road with me. So I, yeah, we went there and it
- 44:28was fun. So we we went to Red Bluff,
- 44:31Clovis, Lakeside. Oh man, what is that rodeo
- 44:35called? It's brand new.
- 44:36It's called the Desert Rodeo. It was during Coachella.
- 44:41Oh, OK. Yeah, in the.
- 44:42Middle of the dunes. It was awesome.
- 44:43I can't remember it was. It was Indio pretty much, but I
- 44:47can't remember what they called the like the town.
- 44:50It was so small of a town. I mean, and then you come around
- 44:53the corner and there's like crazy cartel freaking palm trees
- 44:57and you're like, there's some money.
- 44:58Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:59And then who that like they had Anthony Lucia announcing it and
- 45:02then my buddy Casey Jones was there.
- 45:04And anytime Jones is there, there's money somewhere.
- 45:07He ain't no, he ain't no scrub, you know what I mean?
- 45:09Like he knows in rodeo, he's the man.
- 45:12Like that Casey Jones. You don't know him.
- 45:15No, you know that pro fantasy rodeo.
- 45:18No, the game that you could play, they give away a truck and
- 45:22a trailer and like 100. Grand never heard of it.
- 45:24Oh, you boys need to play it. It's 100 bucks and you pick,
- 45:27they give you a cap, salary cap. I don't remember what it is, 750
- 45:30or something. And every guy is worth so much
- 45:32money. So it's like, it's like fantasy
- 45:34football but for rodeo, but for rodeo, just for the finals.
- 45:38Oh. Yeah, and they pay go rounds.
- 45:41Yeah. So you're watching and say
- 45:42you're bareback rider's rocker or whatever.
- 45:45So you bought rocker. Well, he's 150,000.
- 45:48Well, the bulldogger you're going to have to be cheap on
- 45:50because you also want a bronc rider that's up here or
- 45:52whatever. However you want to make the
- 45:54team you can. There's so many million ways to
- 45:57do it. You know what I mean?
- 45:59That no two teams are really the same.
- 46:01So you got to really pay attention all year.
- 46:03Yeah, 'cause you can't just pick 11111.
- 46:07You'd you'd. Yeah, you.
- 46:09Would have to afford it. Yeah.
- 46:10That was fun. Actually.
- 46:11I I lived with, I've lived with Jonesy two different times.
- 46:14And Jonesy's an entrepreneur. That's what his his major is
- 46:18from college. He went to UW.
- 46:21He's like a like a hero of mine, kind of.
- 46:23He's he's been to the finals 10 times.
- 46:25He didn't make the finals till he was 33.
- 46:27It was the first time he made the finals, the NFR finals.
- 46:30While he was at the finals. He has pro fantasy rodeo, which
- 46:35makes he does very well. He drives.
- 46:38He gave away a cyber truck for the American last year.
- 46:41Yeah, he gave away a brand new Ram called the AG Wagon.
- 46:45Elite trailer, living quarters trailer.
- 46:47I mean $200,000 rig this year gives it away.
- 46:50Wow. For $100 bet that's the best bet
- 46:52in Vegas. Yeah.
- 46:54Yeah, and you can win money. Yeah.
- 46:56Yeah, I'm. I thought everybody knew about.
- 46:58It yeah, I never heard of. It.
- 46:59Yeah, yeah, you gotta play it. So it's called what?
- 47:01Pro fantasy rodeo. OK.
- 47:03Is it an app? Is that what?
- 47:04It is for no so during the finals, honestly, just look now
- 47:08that we're talking about it'll pop up on your Facebook, OK and
- 47:11yeah for the final when the before the NFR starts next year,
- 47:14like the day or two before get it bought.
- 47:16OK, yeah, it's a hard buck. Yeah, that'd be fun.
- 47:19Yeah, it's worth it. And I think in Arizona, I don't
- 47:21know if he got it changed. I haven't played it in like, I
- 47:25didn't play it this year. I might have played it last
- 47:27year, but anyways, in Arizona, it used to not be able to use
- 47:30your Arizona address for it. Oh really?
- 47:32Yeah, 'cause there's some law with gambling.
- 47:35Yeah, you can only gamble on, you know, native land or
- 47:39whatever here. Oh, interesting.
- 47:40Yeah, they opened it up. Yeah, it's open.
- 47:42Yeah, it's open up to everything, I think.
- 47:44So, so I think now you could use your Arizona address, but we
- 47:46used to have to use my Nana's address in New Mexico.
- 47:48You see now I could do that because it's a 10 day stretch,
- 47:51right? I just can't manage fantasy
- 47:53football. Oh dude that's 16 and it makes
- 47:55it way more fun. Because it's by the same you.
- 47:57Feel like you have a a a card some.
- 47:59Skin in the game, but it's every day too every.
- 48:02All 10 days, yeah. Or now.
- 48:04Now he's doing like he's like I said, he's kicking ass.
- 48:06So he's got day games. He's got, you know, different
- 48:10things you could play. You could play 5 game, like 5
- 48:12round game, all kinds of stuff. Oh, that's cool.
- 48:14Yeah. So look into it.
- 48:15He he has that and then he has, you know, rodeo Vegas.
- 48:19Have you ever heard of that? No.
- 48:21OK, so he has a booth at the Cowboy Christmas and he sells
- 48:25these real high dollar jackets that he gives all the
- 48:29contestants. They're rodeo Vegas jackets.
- 48:31And I mean, they're like, he gave me one and I think that he
- 48:34told me the price tag on it was at least like 600 bucks.
- 48:37Yeah. And they're leather jackets.
- 48:38I mean, they're nice jackets. They're the same jackets they
- 48:41give the contestants. So he does that and then he
- 48:45hasn't. What rodeo?
- 48:46Vegas is like an after party for the Cowboys and for the fans to
- 48:51go hang out. Is that is that at the resort?
- 48:54Yeah. World at the Zoo.
- 48:55Yeah. OK.
- 48:56Yeah, it used to be at The Mirage before.
- 48:57I don't think The Mirage is a thing anymore.
- 48:59No, I think that. Yeah, it was.
- 49:01It's always fun, dude. Yeah.
- 49:02And last year, I mean, we felt like such freaking.
- 49:05We felt like studs, me and my girl, like walk in.
- 49:09I'm like, yeah, my buddy puts this on and she's like, yeah,
- 49:11whatever, you know what I mean? Like you're full of shit.
- 49:13And I'm like, no, really, He does.
- 49:15And she's like, yeah, and T pain's coming on that night and
- 49:18Tuck and Shaffer and all them guys are there and I walk in and
- 49:22like I said, it's not my deal, you know what I mean?
- 49:24That's a privilege to get there. And Jonesy always makes it like,
- 49:27no, it's just everybody's deal. But he's like, he sees me right
- 49:31away. He's like, hey, Claire, what's
- 49:32up, dude? I'm like, what's up?
- 49:33And he's like, hey, go in my my box.
- 49:36So we go into his box. It's free drinks, 'cause I just
- 49:39paid like 200 bucks for like 2 drinks, you know, up top.
- 49:43So we go free drinks. T pain supposed to come on at
- 49:461:30 in the morning. He don't show till like 3 or
- 49:49330. And my girl's like this bedtime,
- 49:52we gotta go to bed. I'm like, we're waiting.
- 49:54For T pain. Me and Tuck were out there
- 49:57freaking yeah. It was so fun.
- 49:58Yeah, it was cool. He's a cool dude.
- 50:01Yeah, he's a cool dude. Yeah, 'cause we got invited to
- 50:03the after party with El. Hey, Guy.
- 50:05Oh yeah, yeah, he's cool. We just, we just got some hate
- 50:08from him. Yeah, I, I told him, I said,
- 50:11hey, you know, when somebody sponsored around here, time
- 50:13event guy, I'm your guy. There you go.
- 50:16That's cool. Yeah, we're gonna.
- 50:17He's coming on, yeah. Cool.
- 50:19Yeah, we'll bring him. Yeah.
- 50:20Tell him I said that when he pops up, say, McClain said.
- 50:22What's up? I will.
- 50:23Yeah. If he says who would just be
- 50:26like man, remember the guy that's asking for everything?
- 50:33Dude that's such a good idea man.
- 50:34Is to make a what? What your buddy did is to make
- 50:37like a little draft thing for the rodeo.
- 50:39Oh, dude, yeah, He's, he's an evil genius.
- 50:42Yeah. He's the smartest guy.
- 50:43That's where, oh, that's where this whole thing stemmed from.
- 50:47I wanted to find something I could do while I rodeo that's
- 50:50going to pay for me to rodeo, you know what I mean?
- 50:52And that's he's the, he's the founding father of that, you
- 50:56know what I mean? He's the guy who did it.
- 50:58Yeah. And he's the only guy who did
- 50:59it. Nobody.
- 51:01Everybody else, like, I mean, they, they think I don't even
- 51:04know of another guy that tries. I mean, there's different guys
- 51:07that go rodeo and have a job, call the rodeo and you know, and
- 51:10have a, all of it's online. But yeah, he's the guy.
- 51:13But he's doing it to where his his work is doing his work.
- 51:16Right. And he's making money.
- 51:17Yeah. And he's got all his guys, you
- 51:20know, doing it. And this dude in his office,
- 51:23this guy's so awesome. One time he started to try to
- 51:27make an app for rodeo. Like, I can't remember what it
- 51:31was, but the app failed, It sucked, nobody downloaded it,
- 51:36whatever. But what he did with that, he
- 51:38learned how to build an app. So he started an app building
- 51:40company that took off. This dude's a genius.
- 51:45He's went to college for being an entrepreneur.
- 51:48Yeah, not no Individualized studies.
- 51:51You know what? I mean, yeah, well, that's why,
- 51:53like they tell you, failure's inevitable.
- 51:55It's about failing forward and learning from Yeah for sure your
- 51:58mistakes. Yeah, and that guy's prime
- 52:00example of it. And like, not making the finals
- 52:02till you're 33. I'm 27 and I can only imagine
- 52:06when you're 33. I mean people by now,
- 52:08everybody's like, oh, you know, you gotta, you gotta think about
- 52:11other stuff. I mean, your family, everybody
- 52:13says stuff like that, you know, and it's all up here.
- 52:16It's like whatever, you know? Yeah.
- 52:18Like you guys have no idea what's going on, right.
- 52:20You know what I mean? Or anyone.
- 52:22I mean, immediate family will tell you that.
- 52:23And you're like, Nah, I mean, you say whatever, but I know
- 52:26what's up to you. Awesome dude.
- 52:27Yeah. Yeah, you got your goals set and
- 52:29you know what you're trying to. Apply, man, you just got the
- 52:31confidence. Yeah, takes a while to get the
- 52:33confidence to back it up. You can always have the goals,
- 52:36but. What's the what's the dirt
- 52:38working company that you're with right now?
- 52:40Just our bio Dirt Engraving LLC. Yeah, you.
- 52:42Just started that right. Yes, Sir.
- 52:44Is it just you? No, we got a couple buddies and
- 52:47stuff that are in it too. Got some skin in it and stuff
- 52:50and it is mainly me. I mean, we're like we're babies
- 52:55with it. We're just getting started.
- 52:57So yeah, we but I got a couple buddies that think sure are good
- 53:01people have in your back pocket. I try to be real loyal.
- 53:05So I got I got only people I trust with stuff like that.
- 53:10So I mean people I trust with anything, like everybody I've
- 53:14ever hired for anything I've ever done has always been in my
- 53:18circle. Yeah, you got to make sure
- 53:19you're bringing the right people.
- 53:20Around, absolutely, yeah. Yeah.
- 53:22And I was always like, it's funny, but I was always obsessed
- 53:24with like, gangster movies or like mob movies, you know what I
- 53:27mean? Well, they're all like.
- 53:28They're all loyal. Yeah, absolutely.
- 53:30That's huge for me. Yeah, for sure, the loyalty
- 53:33piece of it. Yeah, it's the Mexican in me.
- 53:35There you go. Well, there's there's there's a
- 53:37lot about that culture. So my my ex-wife is Hispanic and
- 53:41getting to understand that culture and kind of how I mean,
- 53:44they're, there's a lot of loyalty there.
- 53:46Yeah. And he and that whole like
- 53:48analogy, he messed with one being, he messed with the whole.
- 53:50Burritos. Oh yeah, no, I, I mean, yeah,
- 53:52yeah, I. Mean, you know, there's a prime
- 53:55example. I jump on the fence after some
- 53:57some Bush remarks. Oh yeah, no, that's just, yeah,
- 53:59he's in our bio. Yeah.
- 54:01No joke. We'd all do that.
- 54:02Yeah, yeah. That's just how we were raised,
- 54:04though. That's how my dad is.
- 54:05My dad's a real GI feel like, like he's a he's a paper G, but
- 54:10he was raised on the streets of Albuquerque.
- 54:11Yeah. You gotta be tough to come from
- 54:13there. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:14I mean, he, I mean, he was a middle linebacker to ASU.
- 54:16He's dangster, the toughest guy you've ever met.
- 54:19I saw some pictures of him and I was like damn.
- 54:21That's a big yeah. He's a monster dude.
- 54:22Yeah, yeah. And he's like a big old well, to
- 54:25me, I mean, he's dad, so he's a big old teddy bear.
- 54:28But yeah, yeah, I've. Seen did Did he haze for you?
- 54:32At the circuit finals or at all. My whole life.
- 54:34Oh, my whole life. OK, Yeah, yeah.
- 54:37He's always hates for me. We've always had horses.
- 54:39Yeah. So I've, I've switched my buddy
- 54:42Justin Simon has a really good horse round here.
- 54:44He's and I don't know if he's honestly, to me, he's the best
- 54:48one I ever rode. Like, I don't know if he's just
- 54:51got that speed or whatever, but to me personally, he just fits
- 54:54me so well. And Simon on this side and
- 54:57everything is just such a everything clicks, you know,
- 55:01it's always like that, but it's always been my dad, Hazen.
- 55:03That's cool, man. Yeah, I think I saw a picture on
- 55:06your on your Instagram and I just thought like, man, how cool
- 55:10would that be to be a father and just be able to be there and
- 55:13just watch your son like write front row seat.
- 55:16Dude, so much pressure, so much pressure for him.
- 55:19Yeah, he he hates it. Like he loves to hate it, You
- 55:22know what I mean? But like he's always all through
- 55:25high school, they can't haze in college, but at the pro rodeo is
- 55:28through college because he was still rodeoing too.
- 55:30So yeah, he'd always haze. And then now and then he haze
- 55:36for my brother all through high school.
- 55:37And at the my brother made the junior NFR for like 3-4 times.
- 55:41So he hates for him there. Yeah.
- 55:43So it's always Dad's always there.
- 55:45That's awesome. Yeah.
- 55:45And he, I mean, he, I mean, he, he keeps us rolling, though,
- 55:48like he keeps, especially my brother, my brother, my
- 55:51brother's got some real talent. So he's, he keeps him, you know,
- 55:54mounted and make sure everything is right with him.
- 55:57And he, my brother's on a full ride scholarship.
- 55:59Tarleton State right now. Oh, wow.
- 56:01Yeah. Tarleton for rodeo is like the
- 56:03Alabama rodeo. Really.
- 56:05Yeah. Where's that at?
- 56:06Stephenville, TX OK, Yes Sir, right in the capital.
- 56:10Full ride. Dang, right, he gets paid to be
- 56:12there. Wow, that's cool.
- 56:14Yeah, and he only Bulldogs. Really all he does.
- 56:17Not a lot of bulldoggers. I mean, I can Tuck is the only
- 56:20other one I know, but that went to college just a Bulldog.
- 56:23And they're they're like full ride scholarship, just a
- 56:26Bulldog. How?
- 56:27How is like a college rodeo circuit like?
- 56:30Are you guys going to different colleges to compete?
- 56:32Yeah, so every, every college has like their college rodeo or
- 56:36whatever. So like their home game and you
- 56:39go to all of them and then there's a team.
- 56:42So the coach picks, you know, whoever on the team that he
- 56:46thinks is going to win. And then I think there's six
- 56:50guys and four girls on the team. And then in the region, if
- 56:55you're the top two teams, you go to the college finals.
- 56:57And if you're the top three in your event, you go to the
- 56:59college finals. Oh well.
- 57:01So. What What are the top colleges
- 57:03for rodeo? Honestly, Tarleton, New Mexico
- 57:06State, those are the two best ones I know.
- 57:10Yeah, I'm just kidding. All the mother ones, boys could
- 57:14get freaking smacked. They suck.
- 57:15No, I'm just kidding. No, there's a lot.
- 57:19There's so much more than you think.
- 57:21Like it's funny, Like ASU when I first started called Rodeo and
- 57:24ASU had a team. I don't know if they do anymore.
- 57:27U of A has a team for sure. They always have had a team.
- 57:31CAC, Central Arizona, it's in Casa Grande.
- 57:35They have a damn good team. Like they were always our rivals
- 57:38in the region. So like the region here, same as
- 57:42like our circuit is Arizona, New Mexico.
- 57:45And then like California, they have what, the West Coast
- 57:50region, which is California and UNLV pretty much.
- 57:53And then they have trying to think, I can't remember what the
- 57:57Columbia River 1 is, but pretty much wherever the circuits are,
- 58:00they have a region for their. And then like where my brother
- 58:03is, they just, they had one giant Texas region, but there's
- 58:06so many schools in Texas that they split it in half.
- 58:08Oh, OK. There used to be like 300
- 58:10breakaway ropers in the region. Yeah.
- 58:12Now there's 150, which still is. That's still a lot.
- 58:14Yeah. I mean, them girls make a living
- 58:16during that stuff. Yeah.
- 58:17I'd pay good. Yeah, we had a breakaway Roper
- 58:20on. Yeah, yeah, I know her.
- 58:22Yeah, Kylie. Yeah, yeah, I know her.
- 58:24She's cool. She's nice.
- 58:28Yeah, I know that Iowa State has a team because Tyler's girl
- 58:32ex-girlfriend went and rode there.
- 58:33Oh yeah, dude, everywhere. Yeah, yeah, I didn't.
- 58:36Even know college rodeo was a thing.
- 58:37I know. Oh, yeah.
- 58:38And it's, it's like like a New Mexico State.
- 58:42You didn't really see it, but like Tarleton, where my brother
- 58:44is, you really see it. Like the alumni really, like,
- 58:47give them money. And yeah, yeah, there's a lot of
- 58:50money in that school for the rodeo.
- 58:52When you when you go to college for rodeo, yeah.
- 58:55Do they provide the horses the? Saturn.
- 58:58No, it's all your stuff. Yeah, you're bringing your own.
- 59:00Yeah. You're you're you're you're the
- 59:03sole proprietorship into it. But they're like the overall You
- 59:08rodeo for New Mexico State, you know what I'm saying?
- 59:10Or you rodeo for Tarleton State. You still individually rodeo and
- 59:14try to do the best you can 'cause you still want to make
- 59:17the college finals. OK, but you're writing for your.
- 59:19School. But you're writing for your
- 59:20Yeah, you're representing your school.
- 59:22Gotcha, Gotcha. OK.
- 59:24But, and I mean all they do, they give you a practice
- 59:26facility, they give you steers. My coach back then, I was, he
- 59:31seen me, I was like dropping weight.
- 59:32And usually it's freshman 15, you know what I mean?
- 59:34You're supposed to put on weight.
- 59:35But I, I, I had no money. So I was like, man, I'm just
- 59:39gonna, I was eating frozen yogurts from the dollar store
- 59:43and I was surviving on them. And monsters.
- 59:45I used to be obsessed with monsters back in the day.
- 59:47So like the off brand, yeah, the off brand like Mexican monsters,
- 59:51you know, that's probably just straight battery acid.
- 59:53I was, and buying those. And he's like, and he's seen me
- 59:56losing weight and he's like, dude.
- 59:58And New Mexico State, they I mean, the alumni take care of
- 1:00:01you good down there too. But he handed me a stack of gift
- 1:00:04cards for like fast food places like this and was like, here,
- 1:00:07this is what you're. Gonna go get.
- 1:00:08Yeah, yeah, that's why I said he's like that dude once he
- 1:00:11'cause I was starving to death, me and my dog were going to
- 1:00:14Dollar General and living off whatever we could find Dollar
- 1:00:17General for whatever we counted, you know what I mean?
- 1:00:19So when he handed me that, I'm like, damn dude, you're, you're
- 1:00:23a St. you know what I mean? You're a real dude.
- 1:00:26I just feel like if you're getting a scholarship there, you
- 1:00:29know, and you're representing them like they could at least
- 1:00:32give you like a meal card or. Something absolutely.
- 1:00:34Like my brother has one. Yeah, my brother.
- 1:00:36And it's just changed a lot, you know?
- 1:00:39I mean, that was 10 years ago now.
- 1:00:41I'm old, you know? Yeah.
- 1:00:43Well also too, I'm sure your brother could get it like the
- 1:00:46whole nil stuff, right? Like he could get.
- 1:00:49Like the, like the football players.
- 1:00:51Yeah. I don't know.
- 1:00:53I mean, for now, like for what he got for this first semester,
- 1:00:58in my eyes, he's same type of thing, you know what I mean?
- 1:01:02Like they didn't do or my school, they didn't do that, but
- 1:01:05how they're taking care of them there.
- 1:01:07Yeah. But I mean, New New Mexico's
- 1:01:10such a poor state in general that, you know, I don't think
- 1:01:12the school could. All they had was just yogurts.
- 1:01:15Yeah, pretty much, dude, I was. And Mexican monsters.
- 1:01:18Yeah, I couldn't even tell you what they were called.
- 1:01:21That's they were just green and black.
- 1:01:22You know how you see like the hot cheetahs?
- 1:01:24Yeah, they might have been, but they they were keeping me
- 1:01:27steady. And then I would somebody around
- 1:01:30there after practice would have some keystone lights, you know?
- 1:01:33So yeah, you're alright. You survive.
- 1:01:36There's your carbs. Balling on a budget?
- 1:01:38That's what I Yeah, Hell yeah. But I always had enough like my
- 1:01:41dad back then, like my dad does, my dad's all like does well,
- 1:01:44now, you know, but back then he was still, he's still busting
- 1:01:47his ass. So he, I mean, he'd give me what
- 1:01:49he could, But like I always, I always had enough to go to the
- 1:01:51rodeos and my horses were all well, we're not going to say how
- 1:01:56I was feeding them, but I was feeding them.
- 1:01:57I was keeping them fat. You know, the school's hay that
- 1:02:00was there. Should I admit it right now?
- 1:02:02I don't know. But the school's hay that was
- 1:02:03there. I would Dang sure use some of it
- 1:02:05too sometimes, but I was broke, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:10Exactly. I pay, I'll pay for it now if
- 1:02:12they need me to maybe a squeeze in total, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:16But I had to do what I had to do.
- 1:02:17And I I'm pretty sure my coach knew like because I remember he
- 1:02:21had a meeting about it and he's like, hey, there's some hey guys
- 1:02:24that's been getting fed and it's not getting fed by the brawl
- 1:02:26course. And he's just looking at me the
- 1:02:28whole time, and I'm like, yeah, that I can't say.
- 1:02:32Yeah, yeah, pretty much, yeah. Who's doing that?
- 1:02:34I guess. Weird place for piano, do you?
- 1:02:40Plan on getting your own horse, your own steer wrestling horse
- 1:02:44at some time or. Yeah, like my me between me and
- 1:02:47my brother, like my brother's 19.
- 1:02:50So I mean, he's just getting started.
- 1:02:51So there we got to keep the both of us, you know, good, good legs
- 1:02:56underneath us and stuff. My like we got a good yellow
- 1:03:00there that I went like I went Kingman on him.
- 1:03:04I wrote him at Prescott. He worked good there.
- 1:03:07I I took him for a few months and he was really good.
- 1:03:12But he, I think he's just not 100% sound right now.
- 1:03:17And then my brother went to college, so Simon had that
- 1:03:20horse. And I've, I really like that
- 1:03:21horse. So either even if I get my own
- 1:03:23right now, I'm still riding that one in my buddy.
- 1:03:25OK, Absolutely. He's just, he fits me too good.
- 1:03:28Yeah. I'd rather invest in paying
- 1:03:31paying him than not, you know, not having a horse that good.
- 1:03:35Yeah, you know what I mean. I mean, it's better.
- 1:03:38How do they train a a horse to do that?
- 1:03:41I mean like, 'cause you know, you could train.
- 1:03:43A barrel horse, just keep up just kind of you a lot of times
- 1:03:49they're like blown up head horses.
- 1:03:51They're not blown up. You don't want a blown up horse.
- 1:03:53So that you want. So like our last good one that
- 1:03:57we, that I traded for, we, he could have either went to the
- 1:04:01NFR as a head horse or went to the NFR as a bulldog and horse.
- 1:04:04Those guys that make the NFR head and you know what I mean?
- 1:04:07They don't want something that's going to be ready and some they
- 1:04:09want something that stands in the box, scores and runs, you
- 1:04:13know what I mean? As fast as he can for this short
- 1:04:15amount of time and then, you know, go left or whatever his
- 1:04:19problem was if you went past that, he's going to keep
- 1:04:21running, you know what I mean? He's he doesn't want to slow
- 1:04:24down. Yeah, it's a race to him, you
- 1:04:26know what I mean? And it's weird because
- 1:04:29everything cow bred, you're breeding a horse to say behind
- 1:04:32the cow, you know what I mean? Not let the cow go by him, like
- 1:04:36cutting any sort of cutting bread, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:38They're keeping the cow from that herd.
- 1:04:40Bullogging horse, You're pretty much taking that cow right out.
- 1:04:45But they need some cow too, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:47They got a cow up and get near the steer and but they got to go
- 1:04:51by him. They got to have no problem
- 1:04:52running by him. So you just run them like you'll
- 1:04:55feel them that you know, when a bulldogging horse and he has
- 1:04:57that swag and stuff, you just know he's going to make a
- 1:04:59bullogging horse. So like my brothers or my dad's
- 1:05:03yellow horse or brothers or both of their yellow horse, I guess
- 1:05:08you like you ride him and you look at him, you can just tell
- 1:05:11he might kick you when you walk by just for fun, you know what I
- 1:05:14mean? And then a bullocker scratch him
- 1:05:17on the butt. Don't do that again, jerk.
- 1:05:19You know what I mean? But you better run fast.
- 1:05:21Yeah, yeah, but if you slow down, I'm going to freaking
- 1:05:23spank you on the butt. You better run faster, you know,
- 1:05:26or whatever. But yeah, they just have to, I
- 1:05:28don't know, they just have that and then you just run by them
- 1:05:30and you know, after the first one you run by if you're going
- 1:05:33to get off on the next one or run by a few more.
- 1:05:36So when's the next rodeo for you?
- 1:05:39I don't know, I, I, we're talking about going to Denver,
- 1:05:43but I just, I feel like I need a rodeo smarter, you know what I
- 1:05:47mean? And I, I feel like in Arizona in
- 1:05:49the winter, in the spring, there's enough money to win here
- 1:05:52to get you into good summer rodeos.
- 1:05:54You know what I mean? You could waste 6 grand going to
- 1:05:57Denver three times or you can spend that 6 grand going to 20
- 1:06:01of them over the 4th in one week.
- 1:06:03You know, like, Oh yeah. So you just, I feel like it's,
- 1:06:07it's taking a long time to learn that.
- 1:06:09So when I was 22 at Dang grad, I've been going to Denver and
- 1:06:13wherever else they'd let me put my name down.
- 1:06:15But I feel like I don't have the like, I have great sponsors, but
- 1:06:19I don't have the sponsors to go to every one of them and I don't
- 1:06:21have the budget to go to every one of them.
- 1:06:23Yeah. So you got to kind of be
- 1:06:25methodical about it. Completely.
- 1:06:27Yep, completely. Choose the ones that you really
- 1:06:29need to go to. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:06:31Yeah. And my dad used to always say
- 1:06:33that and I thought he was just being ornery, you know, but I
- 1:06:36think he was actually trying to, I think he was actually trying
- 1:06:38to help me. And he was just like, man, you
- 1:06:41don't need to go to that. You're going to waste your
- 1:06:42money. You know, you go to Denver and
- 1:06:44that's cool if you win or if you, you know, go there three
- 1:06:47times and you got to spend 6 grand to go every time and you
- 1:06:51win 7100. It's not very smart business
- 1:06:55decision, you know what I mean? You got to go for a month.
- 1:06:58So you'll be there for a month. Make 1100, you're not going to
- 1:07:00be doing very well. You'll be spending that 1100 get
- 1:07:03back home or to go back to go to Texas, go to them rodeos.
- 1:07:07So, and I've been to all of them, you know, and I they're
- 1:07:09hard. You know, you got to, you got to
- 1:07:12figure out where you can win at, you know, if you're just
- 1:07:15entering, if you're trying to enter against them.
- 1:07:18Fifteen guys just got done last week and you're not ready to,
- 1:07:22you're not sharper than them. You ain't going to beat them.
- 1:07:24Yeah, where's the ROI? Right.
- 1:07:26Yeah, yeah. Where's my money?
- 1:07:27What? Best, yeah.
- 1:07:29Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:07:30So you just, it's taken me a long time and like here through
- 1:07:34the winter, I can work and I could keep my businesses going
- 1:07:38and I could steal rodeo and I could still win, you know, 20-30
- 1:07:42thousand out of the winter here. And you know, Southern Cali or
- 1:07:46wherever we go, I'll probably go back to the California run.
- 1:07:48That was great and that really fit my style out there.
- 1:07:51So I'll probably go back out there.
- 1:07:53But I don't know, I just feel like I got to do it smarter now,
- 1:07:57you know what I mean? I don't think you got to jump in
- 1:07:59on my first rodeo and try to enter all of them because you'll
- 1:08:02be broke by February. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:08:05Yeah. And you'll be right back where
- 1:08:06you were anyways. That's.
- 1:08:07Crazy, man. I never knew all that, you know,
- 1:08:11going into or just watching all the rodeo stuff and everything.
- 1:08:15Yeah, kind of coming. Into the.
- 1:08:17Yeah, exactly. And like you got to earn that
- 1:08:20stuff, you know what I mean? I mean like literally earn it.
- 1:08:22Like those those boys that are making it, those are, I mean,
- 1:08:27they put everything into it. You know, they're not just some
- 1:08:30guys on TV 10 nights in a row. You know, they're, they're Dang
- 1:08:34sure hundreds of thousands of dollars invested into it and
- 1:08:38their entire lives revolve around it.
- 1:08:41Yeah, you know what I mean? And that, I don't know, it's
- 1:08:44just just like a stepping stone type thing.
- 1:08:46You gotta earn it right. How did how did the the name
- 1:08:51Bulldog come about? Oh, it's cool, actually.
- 1:08:54So I had to do AI had to do a book report on this one time.
- 1:08:57There was a old black guy named Bill Pickett and he invented
- 1:09:01bulldogging. And he was on the ranch once and
- 1:09:05he didn't have a rope. And this bull was getting off or
- 1:09:09cow or whatever it was, you know, and it was running off.
- 1:09:12And so he's like, oh, how am I going to get that sucker?
- 1:09:14So he runs up, jumps off his horse and he watched a bulldog
- 1:09:18grab it by the lip and flip it over once, like the day before
- 1:09:21or whatever. So he's, he's seen the bulldog
- 1:09:23do it. So he bit him on the lip,
- 1:09:26flipped him over. Yeah, he actually then he's
- 1:09:29like, man, that was fun, you know what I mean?
- 1:09:31So he started doing it and Buffalo Bill found him and hired
- 1:09:37him onto his, you know, show that he had back then.
- 1:09:40And then he got, he got invited by the Queen of England to go
- 1:09:46perform out there with all his band of heathens, pretty much.
- 1:09:50And Bill Pickett did it and bit that bull on the nose.
- 1:09:54And the Queen's like, hell no. And she locked him up.
- 1:09:56She said, that's animal abuse if I've ever seen it.
- 1:09:59Yeah. And he.
- 1:10:00So Buffalo Bill Cody had to bill him, bail him out of jail and
- 1:10:05got him back here. And he's like, you don't quit
- 1:10:07that. You keep it up and so then it
- 1:10:09just evolves, you know? That's where it came.
- 1:10:11Yeah, that's cool. Yeah.
- 1:10:13And you see them old pictures, that is.
- 1:10:14Yeah, it's cool, huh? You see them old pictures of
- 1:10:17guys, and I mean them steers back then were they were man's
- 1:10:20pretty stout. Yeah.
- 1:10:21Walk, walk to school uphill both ways type stuff.
- 1:10:24Yeah. Like my he's pretty much like my
- 1:10:26grandpa. He's but he has he made the NFR
- 1:10:30in the 60s and the 70s and I mean them all Herfers they run
- 1:10:33were 750 plus big old frickin fresh and they would have them
- 1:10:38fresh. So like fresh means they've
- 1:10:40never seen any of that. They came out of the ranch.
- 1:10:44Can you imagine going and getting a cow out in the desert
- 1:10:47out here, putting him in the chute and you're gonna throw him
- 1:10:50down and he's never even been chased.
- 1:10:53That's insane. That is, yeah, you gotta have
- 1:10:55'cause you don't know what they're gonna do.
- 1:10:56You have no idea. And you're latching hold of
- 1:10:59something that don't want you on its horns.
- 1:11:02You know what I mean? I mean, if you draw a good one,
- 1:11:04that's like, OK, yes, Sir. But for the most part, you're
- 1:11:06going to draw probably 10 of them that they don't want no
- 1:11:09part of you. Yeah, they're going to let you
- 1:11:11know it. Absolutely, Yeah.
- 1:11:13I mean, somebody grabbed you by the Dang.
- 1:11:15You got something on your head and they grabbed you and tried
- 1:11:17manhandling you around. You're going to say no, Sir, You
- 1:11:20know what I mean? As much as you can so.
- 1:11:22Your neck gets wet. Your neck.
- 1:11:24Yeah. Then you see guys like Will
- 1:11:27Loomis or like, my dad's size, and you're like, I'd say yes,
- 1:11:29Sir, to him. I know.
- 1:11:31That's a big one. Yeah.
- 1:11:32Yeah. He's cool, too.
- 1:11:33That's all. Wilbur.
- 1:11:34He's a good dude. Yeah.
- 1:11:35He's a good buddy of mine. I saw I saw the video where this
- 1:11:38dude he was like about to jump on and like the steer kind of
- 1:11:42turned his head and the horn just.
- 1:11:45Right, like his whole. Body weight dude just jump like
- 1:11:48just fell right on that horn dude and you could just see like
- 1:11:51his chest just cave. In Oh yeah.
- 1:11:54God damn man, that would suck. Yeah.
- 1:11:56That's got to be. Yeah, yeah, I mean, you get
- 1:11:59stuff like that, Yeah. You try to avoid that, you know
- 1:12:02what I mean? I feel like if you're not like
- 1:12:04mentally sharp, your stuff like that's going to happen.
- 1:12:06I mean, shit happens in general, but yeah, I mean, I've had some
- 1:12:09crazy stuff. I had one steer once that
- 1:12:12stopped and rocked his head back and I ate the horn right here
- 1:12:15and my nose is like over here and hit this tooth.
- 1:12:19And then my I remember I called my dad, it was out of collar
- 1:12:22rodeo. And I called my dad and I don't
- 1:12:24even remember what I told him, like I was out of it, you know
- 1:12:26what I mean? And my nose, it was over here.
- 1:12:30And the have you ever had to fix your nose or nothing?
- 1:12:35They put these tubes up it both sides and it lines it up.
- 1:12:39That's why my nose isn't crooked, because I had a sweet.
- 1:12:42We had a trainer at New Mexico State.
- 1:12:44Michael Gregory was his name. He was a stud.
- 1:12:46Like he was a badass. And when it happened, I was just
- 1:12:49raging mad. I don't even remember.
- 1:12:51He's like, alright, I'm going to pop your nose back, you're
- 1:12:53ready. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:54He goes, I'm going to do it on three.
- 1:12:56And I said OK. And he just stuffs these pipes.
- 1:12:59Up. Oh man.
- 1:12:59Yeah, and it lines up all the way back up to your eyes.
- 1:13:03Yeah, that one was. That one was brutal.
- 1:13:05Oh, I bet. Yeah, you can't.
- 1:13:06I was eating like that's probably where I got started
- 1:13:09eating the froyo. But but anyways, yeah, I had a.
- 1:13:13So you had money, you just, you just wanted to know.
- 1:13:15I don't. Know it all went to medical.
- 1:13:17I didn't win nothing at the rodeo, so I probably didn't have
- 1:13:20no money at that time. But yeah, I mean, stuff like
- 1:13:23that happens, you know, you get ribs and stuff.
- 1:13:25But the other time we were, it was we got some sears from
- 1:13:31Tayost here and we broke them in.
- 1:13:33They're dead fresh Mexicans. They just just crossed the
- 1:13:35border, you know what I mean? They hadn't been roped, hadn't
- 1:13:38been nothing. Me and my brother threw them
- 1:13:40down and they were all there. But it was best set of sears
- 1:13:43we've ever thrown down, you know that.
- 1:13:44We're keeping all of them and this one had sharp little horns
- 1:13:48and I call them little devil horns, and they kind of go up
- 1:13:50'cause you just know they're going to gut you.
- 1:13:52Like you just can feel it every time.
- 1:13:54And this one stuck his horn in my belly button and I freaking
- 1:13:58threw him down and I ripped and his horn just straight across my
- 1:14:00belly button. I got a big old belly button
- 1:14:03now. Yeah, that one was that one
- 1:14:06sucked, but other like it just happens.
- 1:14:08Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's part of.
- 1:14:09It, yeah, it's part of it's, it's like you going into a
- 1:14:12fight. If you don't expect to get
- 1:14:13popped in the nose, then what are you doing?
- 1:14:15Yeah, that's part of it. What I like about it too is
- 1:14:18like, you only get that one, right?
- 1:14:19You only get that one run, you know, and you got to make it
- 1:14:23count. Yeah, Hell yeah.
- 1:14:24There's no reruns. No, no, especially in the timed
- 1:14:27events. Yeah, yeah, I've got, I don't
- 1:14:29think I've ever gotten a rerun in the whole time I've ever been
- 1:14:33bulldogging or anything. So like, I mean, they're rough
- 1:14:35stock. They get rerides every day, you
- 1:14:37know. Yeah, I don't think a timed
- 1:14:39event, yeah. Well, cool.
- 1:14:42So for all of those that are listening, you obviously you're
- 1:14:45in real estate and now you're doing groundwork.
- 1:14:47How do they get a hold of you? Man, just on Facebook, honestly
- 1:14:52you'll find I got my number everywhere on one of my real
- 1:14:56estate things has. Facebooks or it's your personal
- 1:14:59that you're promoting it through?
- 1:15:00Both OK, yeah, yeah, my realtor one has, I obviously have that
- 1:15:06or Instagram, I mean either one of them, but yeah, mainly on
- 1:15:09there. And then my dirt one, I still, I
- 1:15:12have like 3 pages, 4 pages. So they're kind of sometimes I'm
- 1:15:17like, I don't want to do that, you know what I mean?
- 1:15:19When I feel like I could just kind of side do it and until it
- 1:15:21gets to where I need to do that, but I probably need to do that.
- 1:15:24Yeah. So, but it's it's all over on
- 1:15:27there. We'll grab your handles and
- 1:15:28we'll post those, too. Yeah, make sure people have a
- 1:15:30way to get a hold of you so they can, yeah, use you for real
- 1:15:32estate or for groundwork. Yeah, or just, you know, snap a
- 1:15:35like on it. Yeah, make me look popular right
- 1:15:37there you go. Follow.
- 1:15:39Kind of fun. Yeah, Yeah, especially.
- 1:15:40That's like, I think the hardest part of it, right?
- 1:15:43What, at least for us, is just getting followers, man.
- 1:15:45Oh yeah, dude, it's a pain. Go.
- 1:15:48Subscribe on YouTube. Yeah, yeah, for.
- 1:15:50Sure, right? Go subscribe on YouTube.
- 1:15:52Follow the Instagram. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:56It that's just, I don't know, when I was younger, I felt like
- 1:15:58it was way easier, right, You know?
- 1:15:59But now it's I think it's because you weren't trying.
- 1:16:02Yeah. I mean, I don't even know if I'm
- 1:16:03trying now. That's probably the bad part.
- 1:16:05Like, yeah, my girl always yells at me about that, like I'll post
- 1:16:08that or something, especially rodeo wise.
- 1:16:10But I feel like everybody just wants to post their accolades,
- 1:16:12you know what I mean? So it's like, I don't want to be
- 1:16:14one of them guys. Like some people are so excited
- 1:16:17to win just to post it. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 1:16:19Everybody's like that. Every single person.
- 1:16:21I don't want to be that person. I don't want to just have a
- 1:16:24reason to post like, oh wow, I won second.
- 1:16:26You know what I mean? I only won $220.00, but I won
- 1:16:29second, you know what I mean? It's like stupid to me.
- 1:16:31But yeah, I need to be better at posting.
- 1:16:33Post your practices man, that's what I would like to see.
- 1:16:36Oh, really? Oh heck yeah.
- 1:16:37See, I Oh, really? Just like the process, right?
- 1:16:39Like that's that to me is what is more exciting.
- 1:16:43Well, it's not more exciting, but it's as exciting to see
- 1:16:46people win. But I like watching the process.
- 1:16:49Yeah. You know, I want to see the
- 1:16:50behind the scenes, like, like the whole dummy thing.
- 1:16:54Yeah. I would love to see stuff like
- 1:16:55that. I.
- 1:16:56Think that's most consumers are that way though.
- 1:16:58Like even when we we had Trevon and he was telling us how they
- 1:17:01trained bucking bulls where they actually had a dummy that they
- 1:17:04would put on, they had a remote release to it and stuff like
- 1:17:07that. Like I had no idea that.
- 1:17:08That Oh yeah. You know what I mean?
- 1:17:10So like, there's a lot about this that nobody knows.
- 1:17:13Oh, dude, yeah, there's so much there's.
- 1:17:17So it's such a big world, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:19But everybody has their own sliver of that world.
- 1:17:23Every single thing has that sliver as well.
- 1:17:27So like your sliver of the HVAC, well, yeah, you're HVAC, you're
- 1:17:31doing great like this. But HVAC in general is this huge
- 1:17:34thing and you can break it down so much, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:38Every single thing with these animals or horses or rodeo is
- 1:17:42all the same thing. You know what I mean?
- 1:17:44Your neighbor here could be an A world champion equestrian guy
- 1:17:47and you have no idea, you know, like it's such a broad
- 1:17:51perspective of all of it that we just have one tiny little sliver
- 1:17:56in and honestly, we have no say in any of it kind of deal.
- 1:17:59You know what I mean? Well, it's gonna be fun to
- 1:18:01follow you for sure, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:03Cool. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:18:04You guys too. It'd be fun, Yeah.
- 1:18:06We'll get John again. Yeah, You gotta get your
- 1:18:08girlfriend on. Yeah, she was.
- 1:18:10Yeah, she was. Missed Rodeo Arizona last year
- 1:18:12but yeah, we both have on Elise Cook.
- 1:18:15Anna Elise Cook. Yep, Yep.
- 1:18:17We. Yeah.
- 1:18:18Well, I mean, I have, I have a bunch of stories.
- 1:18:20We didn't even get into any of them.
- 1:18:21That means we got to do another. Episode yeah, we could, yeah.
- 1:18:25I mean, we used to put on bull ridings, we used to all kinds of
- 1:18:28stuff. We can name off that, yeah, it
- 1:18:30doesn't even scratch the surface.
- 1:18:32So. Yeah, let's schedule another
- 1:18:33another episode. With him down, dude, yeah.
- 1:18:36Well, awesome. We appreciate you coming out,
- 1:18:38spending some time with rad cast and you know, learn a little bit
- 1:18:41about you. And like I said, he's doing real
- 1:18:43estate, he's doing groundwork. So if you need him, hit him up.
- 1:18:47Let us know. If you can't get a hold of him,
- 1:18:48we'll help you. So other than that, man, we
- 1:18:51appreciate you coming out. Yeah.
- 1:18:52Thank you, guys. Yeah, thanks for the
- 1:18:53opportunity. It's fun.
- 1:18:54Yes, Sir. All right.
- 1:18:56Thanks guys. You friends, everyone's going to
- 1:19:01be friends and plus you better ride.
- 1:19:03Like you ride?
