- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Sea Kick. This episode 519.
- 0:19I'll be your host, Kyle Cord, and I'm here with my Co host
- 0:23Nate Reyes. Nate.
- 0:27What's up, buddy? What, what, what day is it?
- 0:30We're I don't know the date. I don't know day of the week.
- 0:35I don't know it is it spring? Is it still the end of winter?
- 0:42Days are longer. It's it's light out when I wake
- 0:47up. Baseball still doesn't feel like
- 0:52it's it's close, but it is close.
- 0:56I haven't watched any spring training.
- 0:58Like I'm in this weird like limbo stuck in between Stranger
- 1:05Things world at the moment and I hate it.
- 1:10I think it's safe to say we're at that point in spring training
- 1:12where it's like, OK, I think we've seen what we need to see.
- 1:15Let's all the. All they're all checked out.
- 1:17Why can't I be? Checked out.
- 1:18Let's yeah, let's, let's get it. Let's get it going towards
- 1:21opening Day. Let's get it going.
- 1:23How about it? I was, I was thinking to you
- 1:27earlier, by the way, I don't, I don't know how to, I don't know
- 1:33how to feel about the Red Sox Netflix docu series.
- 1:52Breaking news, Justin from Jeff Passan.
- 1:56Kansas City Royal star Bobby Wood Junior did not suffer a
- 1:59broken bone when he was hit on the left forearm by a 96 mile an
- 2:02hour fastball today, sources tell ESPN.
- 2:05While the timetable for his return is unclear, wit is wit is
- 2:08expected to avoid a long absence.
- 2:10That's what we like to hear. That's what we like to hear.
- 2:13Friend of the program Bobby Witt Junior avoids the long absence.
- 2:19But this, this docu series you're talking about.
- 2:21Yeah, dude, I don't know. I saw that.
- 2:23I watched the trailer today. They're hyping it up as if it's
- 2:28not a team that finished 500 yeah and missed the playoffs.
- 2:33I don't I'm I'm not entirely sure how you're really going to
- 2:37be able to milk this for eight episodes.
- 2:39I love the concept. Don't get me wrong.
- 2:40I I think this like ML BS take on Hard Knocks whatever is just.
- 2:44That's what I'm saying. Like, yeah, like it, it's, I'm
- 2:48caught it. I'm kind of on the fence about
- 2:50it for multitude of reasons. Obviously it's the Red Sox.
- 2:53So like I'm not super intrigued, but then at the same time, the
- 2:58Red Sox didn't do well last year.
- 2:59So like that makes it a little easier.
- 3:02But then overall, this is like the first Hard Knocks ish show
- 3:08for baseball. Like I want to watch it, but but
- 3:14I but I don't because I don't care about the Red Sox.
- 3:17You know what I'm saying? It's a weird thing.
- 3:19Like if the Yankees were in it for the first one, Like, I feel
- 3:24like you'd feel weird being like, oh, I'm excited that this
- 3:28is a thing, that this, this show has become a thing.
- 3:31Sure, yeah. But like, I don't know if I need
- 3:34to watch it, but at the same time, I feel like I do need to
- 3:36watch it. I'm going to watch it for us.
- 3:40I'm going to watch it for this for this podcast and this.
- 3:42Podcast dude, I, I mean, I'm a socks guy and even 8 episodes on
- 3:47a team that for all intents and purposes uninspiring.
- 3:53I don't, I mean, I'm going to watch the whole thing, no doubt,
- 3:57but it's, it's going to be kind of hard to get through when you
- 3:59know the end result, you know? That that's, that's what I was
- 4:02going to say. So many of the the names that
- 4:05are in in that are already gone. The fact that it's going to be
- 4:09after opening day when this finally comes out, it's like I
- 4:12wish I could have been able to consume this sort of sort of put
- 4:16a bow on last year and and then we go full bore into 2025.
- 4:20But now it's like I got to start 2020, the I got to start the
- 4:252025 season opening day. A few days pass and then I get
- 4:29to look back on an OR I get to watch an 8 part docu series on a
- 4:35team from last year that finished 500.
- 4:37That it's whatever. Yeah, and I'm kind of with you.
- 4:41That's the thing about like Hard Knocks is like live.
- 4:44It's like the week and it's, I don't know, maybe they just have
- 4:51a bigger budget, but it's Netflix.
- 4:53So like they can't have that small of a budget.
- 4:55I don't I don't know what to do. It worked for full swing.
- 4:59Full swing with it was the G1 and that was like after the
- 5:02season. So I like it.
- 5:05For me, I'm like I, I can kind of see how that works.
- 5:09But Hard Knocks is like live. It comes out like two days after
- 5:12you watch that pre season game. They turn that thing around
- 5:16quick. Man that that editing team is on
- 5:18it. I saw a note the other day it
- 5:21said Netflix is set to spend $18 billion on content this year.
- 5:27Just cool. 18 Billy. 18 Bill. Speaking of which, that's
- 5:32basically what Garrett Cole got paid, and he's set to miss the
- 5:36entire 2025 season and presumably maybe a little more
- 5:42or a little bit of the 2026 season with Tommy John.
- 5:49Nate, you saw this coming. It's official.
- 5:54Where's your head at? Wait, how does this impact or
- 5:58affect your expectations or lack thereof for the 2025 season?
- 6:06I don't even know. I don't even know.
- 6:09I'm in a weird place. Like I'm in a real weird place.
- 6:14OK. You knew how I felt last year.
- 6:16You knew how I felt about this team last year because like I
- 6:19was, I feel, I feel like I was one of the few people that saw
- 6:22what that team was in reality. They over performed, but like
- 6:28they're winning, kind of covered up all of their issues and then
- 6:32all their issues were brought to light on the biggest stage.
- 6:37What's weird is that the offseason was spent taking care
- 6:41of those issues that were brought to light.
- 6:47Then you lost a superstar, then injuries came.
- 6:53Like it's like, I don't know, like I'm like there's aspects to
- 6:57it where I'm like, OK, I'm excited to see this team
- 7:00actually play defense. I'm excited to see this team
- 7:04that got rid of like multiple bad baserunners.
- 7:10I'm excited that there are bullpen and staff got stronger
- 7:15and then injuries happened and I'm like, I like the things you
- 7:22fixed, but now this is going wrong.
- 7:26You know, you ever seen those stupid like apps?
- 7:30There's always like an ad for this like app or game where it's
- 7:33just like it's like a little like cartoon family and they're
- 7:37like in the house and it's freezing because the winds
- 7:39blowing through the window because the windows broken.
- 7:43And then it's like, do you want to put firewood in the fireplace
- 7:46or do you want to fix the window or do you you know what I'm
- 7:50saying? Or do you want to stop the
- 7:51flooding? Like, yeah.
- 7:52And then you do that and then like something else goes wrong.
- 7:56That's. It's like it's like those or not
- 7:59Venn diagrams, but those those things where it's like pick two
- 8:03of three. It's like a good paying job,
- 8:05sleep and like free time and you can only pick two and then the
- 8:11if you try to if you try to pick another one then another one
- 8:13says Nope. Good luck.
- 8:15Like all that, like the other stuff goes wrong.
- 8:17I'm just like, that's kind of how I feel at the moment.
- 8:21So like, not to mention, you know, the Red Sox got better and
- 8:30sure did. You got to assume that the Rays
- 8:33are going to be more competitive than last year.
- 8:35You got to assume that the Orioles, despite not doing what
- 8:40everyone hoped for, they're still going to be a problem.
- 8:44Yeah, but we. Blue Jays, are they Like, are
- 8:46they going to have some bounce back seasons from people?
- 8:51Are they going to double down on success?
- 8:54Try and get Vladdy to stay at the deadline like.
- 8:56Don't no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 8:58Let me stop you there. Don't let your pessimism after
- 9:02this Garrett Cole, TJ news inflate your feelings about
- 9:08other teams in the league. I mean, jokes aside by aside, I
- 9:11think your your feelings are around.
- 9:13The Red Sox are fair. I think you're correct in saying
- 9:19that the Rays, as they usually do, figure out a way.
- 9:22We've been saying that for literally eternity.
- 9:26But like with the Orioles, we, you just don't know.
- 9:29With the Jays like I, I mean. The Orioles are still going to
- 9:33win. They're still an 86 to 88 win
- 9:38team in my opinion. And what if that offense goes
- 9:42cold for an extended period of time?
- 9:44Then what? Then what I.
- 9:47Don't know. I don't know.
- 9:50Usually in baseball, you need one side of the ball to be to be
- 9:54going right at a given time. If you're at the other side of
- 9:57the ball is falling short and they only have one side of the
- 10:01ball right now, and that's offense.
- 10:04So that offense goes cold. I don't know what the Orioles do
- 10:08all that to. Say if they're bullpen, you
- 10:10know, with Batista coming back, it's like, and then it's hard to
- 10:15say that that offense is going to go cold because like you, you
- 10:18have all this core that's gotten, you know, one year
- 10:21older. It's just like, I don't know, I,
- 10:24I don't I don't know how to feel.
- 10:25I don't know I don't know if the Yankees becoming more balanced
- 10:34after losing Soto makes them better than last year.
- 10:39I don't know if they performed so well last year that it, it
- 10:49was, it was the standard or it wasn't the standard.
- 10:52Like, I don't, I don't know where I'm at.
- 10:54Like, I, I love Max Freed. I I, I, I'm excited about him
- 10:58but like to rely on him as an ace after all the injuries.
- 11:03Like, I don't know. You don't have a choice.
- 11:06To to see a super excited Louis Hill going down with a, you
- 11:14know, a lat and being done for at least two or three months
- 11:18like so. Did I just hear a Louis Hill?
- 11:22Louis Hill? Is it not Louise Hill?
- 11:27You just Shorty. You just shorthand it.
- 11:28OK. That's what I thought.
- 11:30Yeah. I like that.
- 11:30Louis Hill. I like that, yeah.
- 11:35It's flow. It flows.
- 11:36Yeah. Oh yeah, I like it.
- 11:38Well, I I can't go on record as saying that I like that, but.
- 11:41Yeah. And then like, I, I don't know,
- 11:43I don't have any faith in Rodon. I don't have any faith in
- 11:47Stroman. Clark Schmidt is is hopefully
- 11:51going to chew up innings. But like overall, I, I don't
- 11:53doesn't really do it for me. Like Will Warren has gotten some
- 11:57starts, but like, is he going to step up and have 25 starts?
- 12:02I people have talked about like, are they going to go make a
- 12:05splashy trade? But like they've done everything
- 12:07they can to stay under that tax threshold.
- 12:11They're at the cap. They don't have any more room.
- 12:14They can't go anywhere else. So you can't go and add somebody
- 12:18without subtracting somebody. But in reality, there's not
- 12:21really anybody that they can subtract.
- 12:23It's it's a nightmare. It's a nightmare.
- 12:26I would, I'm going to assume some.
- 12:29I mean, I've heard names that are like, they're just, they're
- 12:32not splashy names. They're not exciting names.
- 12:34They're not names that like really do anything for anybody.
- 12:42You know, when when you go look at like the back end of a
- 12:45Cardinal staff at like a Eric Fetty, Steven Matz is over
- 12:51there, like it's like that's the kind of thing that Cashman's
- 12:54going to do. It's going to be that type of
- 12:57stuff. It's not going to be a Sandy
- 12:58Alcantra. It's just not going to happen.
- 13:01Well, you're up against the clock.
- 13:02Yeah. I mean, you got to figure it out
- 13:03because nobody, nobody is going to make even a remotely
- 13:07noteworthy trade for. Like, they don't.
- 13:10Those things just don't happen in the first three months of the
- 13:12season. So either get it done while
- 13:15you're still in camp or you're just going to have to wait till
- 13:17the deadline if you're still in it at that point.
- 13:19Which who's to say if if they would be or not?
- 13:21I don't know. Yeah, I don't think it's going
- 13:23to happen. I, I think I said this last
- 13:25week, they're notorious for snagging a guy that got, you
- 13:32know, let go after spring training, a vet that, you know,
- 13:37maybe had some time with another organization, but they just
- 13:40didn't have the, the roster spot for him.
- 13:43And then that's where they'll kind of swoop in and go get a
- 13:46veteran. They'll like, I thought it was
- 13:48going to be like a, you know, the third baseman or a left
- 13:52fielder, but now it's I don't even know, man.
- 13:57I wasn't super into the roster configuration last year.
- 14:02I'm not super into the roster configuration this year.
- 14:05I'm I'm kind of at that point where like I'm, I'm about done
- 14:10with Brian Cashman. And then overall, like, I can't,
- 14:14I can't blame him too much if Hal is tying one hand behind his
- 14:19back. Got a question in the chat, Nate
- 14:22Cookie Carrasco or Will Warren for the fifth spot?
- 14:25Yeah, I don't even I haven't watched the cookie Carrasco
- 14:30start, so I don't know I'm going to assume will Warren, but I'm
- 14:38it sucks like losing faith this quickly, like they're you and I
- 14:44have talked about having like this.
- 14:47We're all at the this starting line at the same time, like you.
- 14:52Even if you have an inkling, you still have like this, like this
- 14:54random, like delusional faith and like, it's hard to to take
- 15:00hits like this. I don't, I legitimately don't.
- 15:06Don't remember the last time you were a cocky Yankees fan.
- 15:10Like genuinely not like putting up, not like not faking it, not
- 15:14trying to like hype yourself up, like legitimately firing from
- 15:18the hip, letting it eat. Like 2018, because like 2017 was
- 15:24like, right there and close, yeah.
- 15:26I mean 2018 came down to the the LDS between stocks and Yanks and
- 15:31and that was AI mean. That was a heck of a year for
- 15:33both of those teams. Obviously one more so than the
- 15:35other. But I mean that that was the
- 15:37last time you probably were feeling like actually good
- 15:40because even last year, but this you were just waiting for the
- 15:45other shoe to drop for the Yankees last year.
- 15:47Oh, A. 100% the whole year, the whole year, then even through
- 15:52the post season. Like it just, I knew that this
- 15:54I, I, I, when you watch a team everyday, like you can kind of
- 15:58see that it's not just about the win total, it's about other
- 16:03aspects. And, and they were ugly at
- 16:05times. They were very ugly at times.
- 16:07The ceiling was high, but the floor was like really low.
- 16:10And that's not what good teams are, are made-up of.
- 16:14So I don't know, man, they they just, I'm kind of sick of this
- 16:17era of like they hoard prospects.
- 16:21They they act like these prospects are, are worth the
- 16:25world. And then they limit their
- 16:29playing time or keep their playing time inconsistent.
- 16:32And then when they get to the show, they're typically not as
- 16:37good as what everyone made them out to be.
- 16:42And then they're not having any trade value anymore.
- 16:45And then you bring in some old guy like, that's just what they
- 16:50do. It's it's been the same formula
- 16:53for too long. And that's what gets me to this
- 16:56point of like, I'm, I'm going to watch them every day.
- 16:59I'm going to root for him. I'm still going to yell at my TV
- 17:02out of frustration and expect them to play better.
- 17:05But I'm, I'm struggling. I'm struggling.
- 17:12Putting a ball on this, Gerrit Cole, obviously, as we mentioned
- 17:16out for the year, any concern moving forward, assuming he
- 17:22comes back at some point next year, returns the bump.
- 17:26Any concern now that he'll have this under his belt?
- 17:34It's hard to say, man. It's hard to say.
- 17:38We saw what it did to Verlander this late in your career, you
- 17:40know what I mean? Like he's obviously not the
- 17:43same. It's one thing if you're 242526
- 17:46years old and you get TJ, you're like, oh, you got plenty of, you
- 17:50got a long, you know, highway ahead of you to, to let that
- 17:53career figure itself out. You know, at this age, it's
- 17:57like, you don't know, not that, you know, Garrett Cole's 3839
- 18:00years old, but he's up there. So there's some concern.
- 18:06There's still, I think, three years left on that contract and
- 18:14yeah, I don't know, really glad they got freed.
- 18:16I'm. Like no kidding.
- 18:19Made that happen. Maybe that's why this was the
- 18:22maybe this was like in the back of their head as as a
- 18:24possibility because he did have elbow issues last year and he
- 18:29obviously missed a lot of last year.
- 18:31So it was like, yeah, it's time to transition into somebody
- 18:35else. This is a transition.
- 18:38It's a heck of a segue. Take 3.
- 18:41This is a heck of a transition. I can't.
- 18:48I'm not going to feel good about this quote, I can already tell.
- 19:10Whose quote was this? Whose quote was this?
- 19:13I mean, probably not a great deal.
- 19:16I mean, I think Yankee fans are hoping for the best pitcher in
- 19:19baseball for about 5 years. I think if you hope for anything
- 19:23more than that, you're getting a little over the top.
- 19:27But you're also seeing a possible trend with, you know,
- 19:30fighting the clock. Verlander is still a stud and
- 19:33he's deep into his 30s. So I mean, you're starting to
- 19:36see a possible trend. This was from the Three O Take
- 19:40episode 110 Free Agent Flurry, December 17th, 2019.
- 19:53Based on certain words being said, I know it's me and I'm
- 20:01not. I'm not going to throw myself
- 20:03under the bus here. Well done, well done.
- 20:05I have a tell and I'm not proud of it, but that's me.
- 20:09But. I, I gave you a softball there,
- 20:12but I figured, man, what a what a, what a transition.
- 20:15It's a. Good little little reality
- 20:16check, though, It's a good little reality check because
- 20:19like that's, I think that holds up.
- 20:21I think it holds up. You know, we've, we'd fall in
- 20:26love with names and we expect everyone to age gracefully
- 20:32because of how big of a name they are or how many milestones
- 20:35they have in their career or even, you know, locking them in
- 20:38as a Hall of Famer. That's great.
- 20:40But like, these contracts just don't age well.
- 20:45These contracts rarely go well when it's all said and done.
- 20:52Yeah, I just don't know. I mean, to be fair, I think
- 20:54we're seeing front front offices and ownership.
- 20:56Do you know, finally seen the write down on the wall and
- 20:59they're just not they're not getting these or you're not
- 21:02seeing as many of these senseless deals.
- 21:05But there for a while I was wondering, I was like, how many
- 21:08of these do we need to see age poorly for for people to realize
- 21:12like I don't know, maybe we shouldn't be locking guys in for
- 21:151415 years. Crazy.
- 21:18And that's and that's the that's AAV problem.
- 21:21That's the that's the issue with like you're going to see it with
- 21:23Soto, you're going to see it with Vladi that they're not
- 21:26going to age well. They never do.
- 21:28That's just how it goes. It is what it is.
- 21:32But Alexandopolis changed the game with these buying out
- 21:37arbitration years early extension, team friendly deals.
- 21:41It's going to be the norm at a certain point.
- 21:46Speaking of locking a guy in, the Dodgers locked up a manager,
- 21:50Dave Roberts, on a four year extension on Tuesday.
- 21:56The new deal runs from the 26th season to the 29th season and is
- 22:02the new record for AV on a manager's contract, topping
- 22:09Craig Counsel's contract. But I think, but I think what
- 22:12like barely topping? Statement contract.
- 22:21Barely topping counsel's contract.
- 22:23I believe it was very small, small margin, but nonetheless,
- 22:29Dodgers get their guy for another four years.
- 22:35I'll be honest, I did if you would have asked me this. 2-3
- 22:39years ago. 2-3 years ago I was, yeah, I was thinking three years
- 22:42ago I would have said no, you're crazy.
- 22:44There's no way Dave Roberts is managing this club in 2029, but
- 22:47here we are. And to be fair, I mean, it's
- 22:48possible he's not like, you know, maybe they cut ties early
- 22:52or something, who knows. But on paper at least, he is
- 22:55locked into 2029. And that's just, it's wild to me
- 22:58because, and I feel like we bring this up anytime we talk.
- 23:02Dave Roberts, there was so much of the fan base calling for this
- 23:08guy's head because they they said this guy over manages this
- 23:12guy's in over his head. This guy is good for nothing
- 23:16more than a divisional title. How now, Now what, how, how we
- 23:24feeling now Dodgers fans, are we happy?
- 23:26Are we finally, finally happy with this decision?
- 23:31Because I mean, you want to talk about a baseball guy.
- 23:34And I know that gets thrown around maybe more than it
- 23:36should, but I genuinely feel like Dave Roberts is just a
- 23:39baseball guy. And I, I, I think we've talked
- 23:43about like with the shift in, in personnel in front offices and
- 23:47now more so I, I feel like with managers, you're, you're, you're
- 23:51seeing maybe a little bit of shine away from the overly
- 23:55analytical minded people. And you're getting to, and I'm
- 23:58not saying that the people that are in these positions aren't
- 24:01analytically minded, but I'm just saying like you're still,
- 24:04you're still seeing people now more so than I think you did a
- 24:09few years ago that have a have a true feel for the game.
- 24:13And I think Dave Roberts has a feel for the game, despite an
- 24:18occasional maybe over reliance on an analytic what an analytic
- 24:24report says or or you know what have you.
- 24:27But I I think this is a good, I think this is a good move for
- 24:31the Dodgers. And with with everything that
- 24:34you have going on right now, like, why not?
- 24:36Why not? This is a This is a extending
- 24:39Dave Roberts is a footnote in this offseason.
- 24:44Yeah. A footnote extending the manager
- 24:49through 29/20/29 would be the highlight for a lot of teams.
- 24:54This is like this is Backpage newspaper type stuff here.
- 24:59Yeah, well, I mean, they've just run out of pages.
- 25:04So much, so much to fill in, man.
- 25:08Yeah, no brainer in my opinion. I've got a question for you
- 25:12though, do you think? I love when you hit me with
- 25:16questions. You should do it more.
- 25:18Do you think Dave Roberts has the easiest managerial job this
- 25:26year or the hardest? No, we've already set.
- 25:32We've we talked about this when they brought in where, where did
- 25:37we draw the line? Like what was what?
- 25:39Remind me, what was the move where we're like, OK.
- 25:44This. I think it was Kirby Yates,
- 25:46wasn't it? Was it?
- 25:49Yeah, Yeah, you're probably right.
- 25:50I think it was one of those. Kirby Yates like minor right
- 25:53after. I know, I know what you're
- 25:59thinking, no. No, it was.
- 26:03It was to What's wrong with me, the freaking lefty, The lefty
- 26:10reliever that everyone wanted this year.
- 26:11Oh, Scott. Tanner Scott.
- 26:12Yeah, Tanner Scott. Yeah, those couple dominoes
- 26:15fell. Yeah, I remember that.
- 26:16Yeah. I think you're right, Tanner
- 26:17Scott was that was like the because it was like a few days
- 26:20after Snell, wasn't it? No, Snow was snow was early.
- 26:24Snow was early. I thought it was like really
- 26:27close to another deal. I think you're right.
- 26:32There were some dominoes that fell sort of consecutively
- 26:34there. And and I think I going back to
- 26:37what I was saying, I think you're right.
- 26:38I think it was one of the lesser moves where it was like, man
- 26:43didn't see this happening. But at the same time, you could
- 26:46very easily see this happening in the chat.
- 26:50You mean the move where the Dodgers brought on an entire
- 26:52Japanese pro team? Yeah, that, that one.
- 26:55Maybe it was right after, I think it was Sasaki.
- 26:58And then like 3 or 4 days later, yeah, Tanner Scott came through
- 27:03and we're like, really? Yeah, and, and, and that's where
- 27:06I went on that rant. And I said something to the
- 27:08effect of like, you have no choice but to run the table here
- 27:14because you're too good, not. Yeah, that's the that's the why
- 27:18I brought up the question. That's why, like is it, does he
- 27:22have the hardest job? Does he have the easiest job?
- 27:28Well, if I'm standing by that take of you have no choice but
- 27:32to run, run the table this year, then I have to I have to assume
- 27:36or I have to stick by the fact that I believe he's got the
- 27:39toughest because of the expectations on this team.
- 27:44I mean, you are going to be under the microscope.
- 27:47Every I think he's got the easiest job because he can't be
- 27:52blamed because every button he presses is a freaking star.
- 27:58Every button he presses is a start.
- 27:59Not like it falls on the player this year more than Dave Roberts
- 28:04ever. Like in any of the situations
- 28:06that we've, we've gone after Dave Roberts in the past.
- 28:10It hasn't necessarily been about a player not fulfilling what
- 28:17they're supposed to be. You know, like not living up to
- 28:18the hype. It's it's been Dave Roberts
- 28:22pressing a button in a weird time because of analytics or
- 28:26because of following the script, right?
- 28:29Like now it's like every button you press, it's like, well, I
- 28:34don't blame you. I don't blame you for pulling
- 28:37out glass now in the 5th inning because you're, you know, if
- 28:40you're bringing in Tanner Scott right after Kirby Yates,
- 28:44whatever you're going to be doing in the 6th, 7th, 8th and
- 28:479th innings, like I get you pressing that button.
- 28:52It makes sense. You know what I mean?
- 28:55That's why I feel like it's the I.
- 28:57Guess, but no, I, I just can't I can't get on board with that
- 29:00because it's like if, if for whatever reason this team hits a
- 29:05slide, who are they going to look to Sure, the accountability
- 29:11needs to fall on that roster on that lineup because of how good
- 29:14they are and how otherworldly like half that starting lineup
- 29:19is. But what if no, I'm not even
- 29:22going to say what if when they hit a slide, because it's
- 29:24inevitable in this game. Some some teams are shorter than
- 29:29others in a given year, certainly, but when they hit a
- 29:32slide, who who else is there going to be The Who like who
- 29:36else are you going to have to look at?
- 29:37It's going to have to be Dave Roberts because it's like you're
- 29:42going to have to, you're going to have to be a manager now
- 29:45because your team is at a point right now where they they're
- 29:48just, they're, they're struggling.
- 29:50So, Dave, we're going to have to ask you to step and.
- 29:52Be a. Manager because as a as it
- 29:54stands right now going into the season, he can sit on his hands
- 29:58and do nothing. And they're, they're going to,
- 30:00they're going to, they're going to win 5, four or five games a
- 30:04week in their sleep. But when they.
- 30:07An inevitable slide he's going to have to step in and manage.
- 30:10I think when those slides happen, it's it's going to be
- 30:13other, other factors. I think it's going to be injury
- 30:16based. I think it's going to be, which
- 30:23is weird because like they're basically injury proof for how
- 30:26deep they are every button. I guess.
- 30:33Every button works, it's. The only thing I could.
- 30:39Imagine blaming him for is like if somehow the clubhouse gets
- 30:46out of whack, which is hard to imagine when you have Freddie
- 30:49and Mookie as leaders in there. Everyone's bought in I I think
- 30:57he's not the easiest job. I don't know if I think of
- 30:59Mookie as like a bona fide leader, if we're being honest.
- 31:05Mookie's a guy. I think he's AI, think he's a
- 31:08clubhouse gem. I'm calling him a leader, You
- 31:11know what I mean? Like, I think he's just like,
- 31:12cool as a cucumber, like, you know, just a good teammate.
- 31:17I think he's a really good team. No, no, no.
- 31:18Yeah, for sure. But I'm, I'm saying like it, and
- 31:22understandably so with the money he's making.
- 31:23But if there's a brawl that breaks out, is Mookie Betts
- 31:26going to be in the middle of it? No, he's not.
- 31:30No one's hitting Mookie like no one's going to hit him, so I
- 31:33think he wouldn't. Yeah, but you know how that
- 31:34stuff goes, man. Guys just they, they start
- 31:37seeing red, you sort of lose sight of the bigger picture.
- 31:39That it is weird. Like I, I did hear him in an
- 31:42interview where he was talking about like how Otani, just like
- 31:46he is, isn't around anybody. And I think that's kind of
- 31:51difficult. I wonder if that starts to
- 31:53become a little strange for guys.
- 31:56He doesn't go to dinners, he doesn't go hang out with the
- 31:59he's too big, he's too popular to go out and be with the team.
- 32:05So he just he shows up, you see him in in the locker room, you
- 32:08see him get some working on the field, and then he's gone after
- 32:12the game and just falls back in the shadows like Batman.
- 32:17I don't know that. Like that's the only thing in my
- 32:22head where I'm just like, what? What could go wrong for the
- 32:24Dodgers? Because injuries are going to
- 32:28happen. They have an 8 man rotation.
- 32:33Injuries are going to happen. You have $40 million put into
- 32:38your in your bench. You know what I'm saying?
- 32:43Like I, I'm not worried. In the chat, 562 is Robert's
- 32:52worst season there in terms of winning percentage.
- 32:54His first season. 500 win, 100 plus win seasons.
- 32:58I'm going. To make it this year, they're
- 32:59going to win 100 games. I mean, I see 73 at best.
- 33:08By the way, quick little segue here.
- 33:09You your your your shirt is getting some love in the chat
- 33:14for sure. I mean, that's a, that's just a
- 33:17that's a good TI can't. Imagine.
- 33:19Love some good Mitchell and Ness.
- 33:21Love some good Mitchell and Ness.
- 33:23They they have like a line like this.
- 33:25There's like a whole bunch of different players free, no free
- 33:28ads, but like Mitchell and Ness is fire.
- 33:30So like. You.
- 33:31Yeah, I think, I think I have the Clemente version of that
- 33:33one. Yeah, Yeah, actually.
- 33:35Yeah, I know I do. Looks like an old school
- 33:37baseball card. It's the same line.
- 33:39Yep. I mean I know I have a Clemente
- 33:42share I was just thinking of. Yeah.
- 33:44Thinking of us that same line. Speaking of Roberto Clemente,
- 33:50Major League Baseball is pressuring the Tampa Bay Rays to
- 33:53sell the team. Just go with it.
- 33:56Just go with it. Cuba is close to.
- 34:02Well, not it's not. Cuba, it's he's Puerto Rican,
- 34:06Puerto Rican, that close to. Come on, guy.
- 34:11Where's Puerto Rico? Yeah, it's close, but it's not
- 34:13Cuba. Come on man, you should know
- 34:15this. I thought it was Cubo.
- 34:18Where does dads from there? Biggest, biggest Clemente fan I
- 34:21know. Anyway, Yeah.
- 34:28Perfect transition. Major League Baseball pressuring
- 34:32the race to sell the team. I love it.
- 34:37I love it. I love it.
- 34:38Like, make something happen. Let's get the ball rolling here.
- 34:44Let's get the ball rolling and yes, in the chat at the If I
- 34:46remember I will. I'm rocking the Clement nature
- 34:48next episode. Let.
- 34:53Me show off your shirt now. True.
- 34:56Yeah, yeah, yeah. Check this out.
- 34:59If you're watching, you can see the the jersey.
- 35:03I mean, look at that. That's clean.
- 35:05Got the got the word mark on the sleeve.
- 35:08Got the, got the flag and the number on the back.
- 35:13I love the flag. I think, oh, there's no number
- 35:16on this one. That's right, because it's just
- 35:17the chest logo, but I mean, clean dude.
- 35:20Yeah, he's got Nate's, got the Gray one on the chair.
- 35:23And then a little shameless plug.
- 35:24Little baseball guy, old baseball guy, Dad hat.
- 35:27I love this hat so much. Anyway, yeah, let's get
- 35:33something going. Off center freaks me a little
- 35:35bit like the curvature. You're so right dude, what am I
- 35:40doing? Whatever that that needs work.
- 35:44It's fine. That's my own fault.
- 35:46It's my own fault. Yeah. 3otake.com/shop Yeah man,
- 35:55with with the rays like this is kind of a crap or get off the
- 36:00pod situation. Like you know what figured out?
- 36:02I was figured earlier because they're going to be playing at
- 36:07Steinbrenner Field. Why are they playing at their
- 36:11own facility? Don't they have a brand new
- 36:14spring training facility? You know, I've been, I've been a
- 36:23baseball fan for some time, but I don't think I've ever had the
- 36:26thought or or thought to one thought the question like where
- 36:30do the Rays have spring training?
- 36:35I'm ashamed to admit that, but I'm pretty sure it's it's not
- 36:41like the you bore city or whatever, whatever it's called
- 36:45how Ybor Ybor Boy city. Well, that's where the that's
- 36:48where their actual situation is. But aren't they in?
- 36:55I mean, I didn't. I knew they didn't play like the
- 36:59Charlotte Sports Park. It's like a brand new park,
- 37:03Charlotte. County.
- 37:06Oh, is it? It's Port Charlotte, isn't it?
- 37:09Isn't that I know, I know Port Charlotte, But is that the same?
- 37:12Is that that's where they play, right?
- 37:13I've got to be honest, I'm not overly familiar with Florida.
- 37:17Yeah, I'm not a big Florida guy. I mean I I.
- 37:19I love Florida, don't be wrong. I'd.
- 37:22Be open to being a Florida guy, I'd.
- 37:24Be real open to being a Florida guy.
- 37:25Out of Florida Man. Now that's a big difference.
- 37:27I want to clarify, I don't want to be a Florida Man.
- 37:29Not trying to make headlines, but I'd be open.
- 37:31Next half, Florida guy. Florida guy.
- 37:33Yeah, not a hurricane guy personally, but other than that,
- 37:38yeah, warm water. Did you figure it out?
- 37:43Port Charlotte? Is that what you said?
- 37:45Port Charlotte, Yeah. Charlotte.
- 37:46Charlotte. Is that near Tampa?
- 37:48County. Dude, I I OK, let's look at the
- 37:53map. It's north of northwest of Fort
- 37:59Myers. It's South of Tampa, southeast
- 38:02of Saint Petersburg. It's ever so slight.
- 38:06It's it's more S than E if, if you will, Goes to show you how,
- 38:13how little I'm invested in why. Are they?
- 38:16Playing plain conditions of the race.
- 38:20I I don't know. Well, that's obvious because
- 38:24it's that's it's proximity to where your fan base is.
- 38:27Why would you, why would you try?
- 38:29Why would you make your fans travel?
- 38:31What I'm guessing is like, because it's in our damn place.
- 38:35Yeah, that's like, that's like, that's like Fenway burns down
- 38:41and then they're like, hey, hey, we're going to go play our games
- 38:45in in Rhode Island or something. Like no, you would find
- 38:49something that's a little closer and just make it work there.
- 38:52You're not going to tell people to.
- 38:53You're not going to tell people to.
- 38:54They're not going to freaking Georgia.
- 38:57They're still they're down the road.
- 38:59That's. That's not a down the road.
- 39:02Come on. All right, let's let's pull it
- 39:05up here. Tropicana Field.
- 39:10We'll, we'll, we'll use that as home base.
- 39:15It's an hour and 13 minutes, dude.
- 39:17Nobody's driving an hour and 13 minutes.
- 39:20You're asking their games anyway.
- 39:23You're exactly, you're asking the very few that do attend the
- 39:27games to drive an hour, 15 minutes.
- 39:29And that's right now that's nine.
- 39:31That's almost 9:30 Eastern in rush hour, whatever rush hour
- 39:36looks like for them. I don't, I don't know.
- 39:38I hear it's terrible. I hear it's all.
- 39:39To go to their own field, the bridge, the.
- 39:41Bridge. The bridge or the tunnel?
- 39:43Whatever it is, I hear it's terrible.
- 39:46It's just a bridge. It's hour 13, hour 15 with no
- 39:49traffic. You're going to tell people in
- 39:52rush hour 81 * a year, hey, we need you driving hour 15.
- 39:56Not happening. So I don't know why that was
- 39:59even a question of why don't they play their own spring
- 40:02training park Because it's too far away.
- 40:05Come on. Tropicana Field and Steinbrenner
- 40:08Field are 25 minutes away. OK.
- 40:13So. And we just got done talking
- 40:15about how the other option is an hour 15 away.
- 40:19Why is this a conversation? If you're driving 1/2 hour, you
- 40:22might as well drive an hour to go to your own field where you
- 40:26could put up your own freaking merchandise.
- 40:28There's Bears or Yankee players and Yankee.
- 40:32Ones no, no, no, no, no no no name above the field.
- 40:37And you're paying the Yankees millions of dollars.
- 40:41When you just spend. Millions of dollars to build
- 40:44your. Brownfield, you are literally
- 40:47already you're you are so you could be further from being
- 40:51right. You literally idiotic.
- 40:53You're already short changing the amount of time.
- 40:55See, I said it was an hour 15. You're like, well, you might as
- 40:58well drive an hour. It's an hour 15.
- 41:00And again, that's with no traffic.
- 41:03So we'll go ahead and just chalk it up to an hour 45.
- 41:05Are you driving an hour and 45 minutes?
- 41:09This is ridiculous. No, I'm not even this it we're,
- 41:13we're, we're off topic here. We're, this isn't even about
- 41:16what we originally intended to talk about.
- 41:19I mean, I'm, I'm here for it. I'm if there's an opportunity to
- 41:23point out your erroneous ways. Ridiculous dumpster fire of an
- 41:27organization just needs to get out.
- 41:32I know we've, we've probably answered this question a a dozen
- 41:35times, but if and there's, there's more logistically at
- 41:39play here. But say you, you pluck the rays
- 41:44out of Saint Pete, Where do you drop them?
- 41:47Where are you at right now? Because frankly, I, I change, I
- 41:51my answer evolves with at with time.
- 41:54Where are you at right now? If you had to pluck them and
- 41:56drop them somewhere else, where are you putting them?
- 42:03I'd probably just renovate and move the sound out of Nashville
- 42:09just for how big Nashville is right now.
- 42:11Everybody's moving to Tennessee. It's a big deal there.
- 42:14Like I know a lot of a lot of people are saying Portland, OR,
- 42:17but like I don't think Portland and Nashville are on the same
- 42:22trajectory as far as as far as hype and where money is, You
- 42:27know what I mean? I mean, personally, I mean, I've
- 42:31got family in Nashville. It's not like a massive city.
- 42:37Not not saying that that that there the Ray's future
- 42:41destination or any future incoming expansion team has to
- 42:46end up in a massive city, but just sharing my thoughts on the
- 42:51perception of it. It's not like a huge city which
- 42:52which you know, might be more appealing.
- 42:55It might be more appealing, might be more appealing.
- 43:00Population in Nashville 715,000 according to Google in 2022.
- 43:09What does that do? Doesn't do anything for me 2025.
- 43:20I'm kind of with the dude. 1.3 million.
- 43:22Put him in Nashville. Did you see the I don't, I mean,
- 43:26I don't know if this would be specific to a relocation or if
- 43:30this would apply to a relocation versus just a new expansion
- 43:34team. But the Nashville stars, I
- 43:36don't, I don't know the full situation there, but like I
- 43:43don't, I don't know if that's what the new team would become,
- 43:47but I, I, I dig it, man. I dig the vibes.
- 43:50I I like the location. Where'd that come from?
- 43:53Nashville stars. Look it up.
- 43:55I I dig the location, I dig the the vibe of the city.
- 43:59I think they. Can 600,000.
- 44:03I think they could do wonders there with, I mean, I don't
- 44:07know, not a, I'm not a land expert, but I, I would imagine
- 44:10Nashville would be a great place to do like a battery lights,
- 44:16like you could really build up the surrounding air.
- 44:18Not that you would frankly really need to, because
- 44:21Nashville is already kind of popping.
- 44:22Like that's what I'm saying and I they stay in the LE, you know
- 44:29what I mean? That doesn't, like, mess things
- 44:31up at all. It's true I.
- 44:35Don't think of any other places. I hear true Raleigh, Raleigh
- 44:41Raleigh's in the mix. Utah is tough.
- 44:43I would go Raleigh before I went Utah because North Carolina is a
- 44:47much north. Carolina is great.
- 44:49Much more baseball intensive state.
- 44:51Yeah, couldn't say anything negative about North Carolina
- 44:55even if I tried. It's a good state.
- 44:59I was a resident there for three years.
- 45:01What? Alabama?
- 45:03New Orleans. I could see New Orleans.
- 45:09I could, again, I could see North Carolina before I saw
- 45:13maybe not New Orleans, but what was the other one?
- 45:15You said Alabama, not Alabama. No, I don't think Alabama's
- 45:20never been in the mix. It's been like Raleigh,
- 45:22Portland, Montreal. I don't know where.
- 45:26Which, I don't know, I'm kind of out on Montreal anyway, I mean.
- 45:29I'm out. Yeah, No.
- 45:33I don't know. Anyway, yeah, make something
- 45:36happen. Let's just, whatever you're
- 45:38going to do, figure it out. New ballpark, renovating the
- 45:40trop, relocating. Just do something.
- 45:43Closing the book here, MO Von Reports came out recently.
- 45:47MO Von confirmed he used HGH to recover from a knee injury on
- 45:52the back end of his career. He said he was quote trying to
- 45:57do everything he could said I knew I had a bad degenerative
- 46:02knee. I was shooting HGH in my knee.
- 46:05Whatever I could do to help the process, whatever I'm I'm over
- 46:17making AI mean whatever. This doesn't.
- 46:20And people say oh it's because he play won an MVP with the Red
- 46:23Sox and literally has nothing to do with it.
- 46:25Half the time I I I forget who MO Von even played for outside
- 46:30of Boston. It was with California Angels.
- 46:35Mets there's. Somebody else?
- 46:36The Mets. That's right.
- 46:37Yeah. See, I'm not.
- 46:38I don't have any like personal connection or like I don't have
- 46:44any rooting interest at this this stage in the game.
- 46:47So like it is what it is. The news is what it is, but I
- 46:52whatever, I mean, MO Von, clean or not, he was he was going to
- 46:58hit 43040 home runs in his sleep.
- 47:02So whatever, I don't know. Already a pretty big guy.
- 47:08He's a huge guy. And if you're trying to heal up
- 47:11a knee, I'm not, you know, I'm not saying that's right,
- 47:13whatever. But it's it's worse than
- 47:16sticking it in your butt. Well, let's pause.
- 47:20Pause. Let's not clip that, please.
- 47:26Yeah. So anyway, nothing really.
- 47:31Nothing really noteworthy there. Just wanted to meet you.
- 47:33Move along. Just stick it in the butt.
- 47:38It was reported that Yamamoto and Imanaga are set for game one
- 47:43of the Tokyo series. You confirmed?
- 47:47Because I was, I, I couldn't remember.
- 47:49It's it's next Wednesday. Yeah, what?
- 47:53What is what? Real.
- 47:55Meaningful. Well, we'll just say real
- 47:59baseball is going to be played next Wednesday.
- 48:04I are there people that are like actually like genuinely excited
- 48:08about this? Well, here's here's my take on
- 48:11the matter. I would be more excited and I'm
- 48:15not look, if you if you're into if you're into the the I'm going
- 48:19to call it an exhibition series, even though the games count,
- 48:22it's to me, it's just more of an exhibition.
- 48:24It's more of like a display of ML BS prowess.
- 48:33I if it didn't, if it wasn't presented as like opening day,
- 48:41then I'd be like, you know what this is, this is cool.
- 48:43I would care more about it. I would think I would be more
- 48:45interested in it if I didn't feel like it was, if they were
- 48:49trying to threaten true opening day with this international
- 48:52series, whether it's in Japan or, or, or wherever.
- 48:56Like if this was, which I know it's it's it's tough
- 48:58logistically, but if this was the same, if this was opening
- 49:01weekend, awesome. I, I, I immediately care way
- 49:05more about it because it I don't feel like I'm being force fed
- 49:09this fake opening day. And I know that take probably
- 49:11is, is a little more unpopular. And you know, if for whatever
- 49:15reason, because it's like super early in the morning, if for
- 49:18whatever reason I'm awake, sure, I'll watch it.
- 49:21I might even catch a tail end of it, but I'm not going to go out
- 49:23of my way to watch it. But if this was, if this was if
- 49:26the timing was different, I think I would care more.
- 49:28But I, I'm, I'm, I'm super ultra protective of traditional
- 49:33opening day and I don't want anything coming close to even
- 49:36remotely close to threatening that.
- 49:38Just do it like that same day, like do it like that same
- 49:43Thursday really early. Now that now that I could get on
- 49:49board with like you wake up super early and like it's a
- 49:52whole day that I could get on board with.
- 49:55Half the teams don't play Friday because they always do that for
- 49:58like rain outs and stuff and cancellations.
- 50:01So have them play Friday and then you have another game
- 50:05Friday that you or nearly wouldn't have had anyway.
- 50:08We figured this out last year. They come back right and play
- 50:11more spring training games. Yeah.
- 50:14Because it's Wednesday and then Opening Day isn't for another,
- 50:17what, 8 days that I'm sorry that is.
- 50:22It's so silly. So silly.
- 50:24It's weird. Anyway, you see the Astros City
- 50:30Connect leak. Another one.
- 50:34Yeah, they were one of the one of the teams getting a new one.
- 50:36Socks are another one that's yet to be revealed.
- 50:39I'm going to lie, dude, I'm digging it.
- 50:45Look it up. Yeah, look it up, look it up.
- 50:48No, look, all you got to do, all you got to do to to get people
- 50:53like Nate because you know, I mean, I'm, I'm kind of with you.
- 50:56I'm like, can we just settle on something and and at least stick
- 51:01with it for a while? And so just keep pumping these
- 51:02thing out as a money making machine.
- 51:05My biggest hang up with these thing at this stage now is that
- 51:09you call them city connects. Half of these jerseys do not
- 51:12connect to the city whatsoever. It's just an alternate.
- 51:17Brand them differently. Just just call it like the Nike
- 51:20alternate series or something, I don't know.
- 51:22The one picture that's like sitting on a box, fold it up
- 51:27that. Yeah, that's the one.
- 51:32It says strokes. I like it.
- 51:34I'm digging it, dude. It's it's very yeah, very yeah.
- 51:39Taps into the old, old school vibes, which I love.
- 51:43And it's got, it's got the the logo from the 90s.
- 51:47Don't love the socks? Now I hate those Photoshop
- 51:50gradient socks, but the jersey itself?
- 51:52Money. Big fan.
- 51:54Big fan. So the Red Sox are getting one,
- 51:56too. They're getting a new one.
- 51:58It's supposed to be green. No leak.
- 52:00No leak yet, but it's going to be green that we do know.
- 52:05Speaking of orange, the Orioles it was it was it was rumored
- 52:12that they were bringing back the the all orange uniforms, but
- 52:16they officially announced this week that they're bringing back
- 52:21the all orange Uni's. I'm on board, very much on
- 52:24board. There's few colors that work.
- 52:28This is one of those colors. Yeah, with the with the top and
- 52:32bottom give me that all orange uni baby year for.
- 52:38It got to be a universal decision to wear your pants up
- 52:40though. Pants down, looks like your
- 52:46prison suit. Yeah, Yep, yeah, honestly.
- 52:54If you're a baggy pant guy. Yep, didn't have a preference on
- 52:57it until you mention it and I just gave a good look at it.
- 52:59Nope, that's a prison suit if you wear them down.
- 53:01So socks up, O's socks up. That's right.
- 53:06I always say socks up. Really, it's pants up.
- 53:09It's pants. Pants up socks.
- 53:10The socks are always up. Just the.
- 53:13Pants. Does that still have that like
- 53:15that like white stripe that like white and black stripe for like
- 53:18the belt line on the pants when they used to have that like the
- 53:25beltline had its own colour situation going on maybe they
- 53:30back in? It's not.
- 53:31It's not showing on here on on the 2025 versions.
- 53:37Yeah, I'm for it. I'll dig it.
- 53:39I'll dig it. You want to do a little draft a
- 53:42little. Draft.
- 53:43Not a full blown draft, folks. Stick with us if you're going
- 53:46to. Oh God, we got to get a draft.
- 53:4720 people No, this isn't even a this isn't even a player draft.
- 53:52This has nothing to do with people per SE.
- 53:57We are drafting if if you follow us on TikTok and I hope you do
- 54:03if you're listening or watching right now well, if you're
- 54:05watching stay in the chat and they can do it after.
- 54:10But if you're listening to this tomorrow the next day, you can
- 54:14do it simultaneously. Ever head over to our TikTok,
- 54:17hit that follow button. But I put out, I put out a
- 54:21question, put out a question. I said which MLB team has the
- 54:28best thing? And this is what the draft is.
- 54:30It's the best MLB things. And what I mean by that, it can
- 54:35be, it can be anything. Again, this isn't this isn't
- 54:39player related. It's not it's not personnel
- 54:42related. It's like, what is the best
- 54:44thing? And some of the examples, and
- 54:45I'm just going to go ahead and use them as examples because I'm
- 54:48sure they're going to get picked up like the actually, no, I'll
- 54:55stay away from those just in case you hadn't thought about it
- 54:59as much as I have the I haven't the.
- 55:05Fire from the hip today. The the O chant that Orioles
- 55:12fans do for the, for the pregame, the a real common what
- 55:20like the Ivy at Wrigley, Like each team has something or some
- 55:25things plural that make them who they are and that are just
- 55:29iconic. Everybody knows about well, most
- 55:32people, everybody should know about these things.
- 55:35I would, I would hope that we're we're about to draft, but we're
- 55:39going to draft 5 things each and see who has the better lineup of
- 55:44MLB things, the best things, whatever, whatever you it's,
- 55:48it's pretty open-ended. You can make it what you want
- 55:51and, and I'm it's going to take a lot for me to say Boo, shoot
- 55:55down and answer vice versa. You for me like it.
- 55:58It's like that's that doesn't really count as an answer.
- 56:00It's pretty much whatever you want to make it and there's a
- 56:04lot to choose from. So shall we get started?
- 56:08I think what was our last draft? I think I ran away with it.
- 56:18No, the the last draft was the. The hit positions, I didn't
- 56:25erase it. Which one was That was the
- 56:31position though. Yeah, Yeah, I did win that one.
- 56:33Yeah, I won that one that that I do recall.
- 56:35I I do recall. So I'll go ahead and take first
- 56:37pick. Oh boy, I don't know if I won
- 56:40first pick. This is it's a lot of pressure.
- 56:43I'll take back-to-back picks, I don't mind.
- 56:49Well. OK, here's the deal.
- 56:51I I'm just going to, I'm going to go ahead and get out in front
- 56:53of this now because they're like I said, there are so many quote
- 56:57UN quote things in baseball that we're not going to be able to
- 56:59get to all of them. And I'm sure that I'm going to
- 57:02be missing something. Or or.
- 57:05Overlook just a massive pick. So I'm just going to go ahead
- 57:09and get out in front by saying that.
- 57:11With that said, though, and I'm going to you know what this is.
- 57:21This is what a winner looks like.
- 57:24This is what a winner willing to do whatever it takes to get the
- 57:27dub. I'm going to go against my
- 57:30better judgement and go with what I believe is the most
- 57:35iconic thing in the sport. And I'm going to go with my
- 57:41first pick, the New York Yankee pinstripes.
- 57:52OK, good luck. Little gamesmanship, are we?
- 57:59Good luck bouncing back from that.
- 58:02Fair enough. Well, I will take the
- 58:08aforementioned Ivy at Wrigley. Follow me up with Roll Call at
- 58:19Yankee Stadium for the right field bleachers.
- 58:23That's that's strong, not a bad three pick, not a bad three
- 58:27pick. I feel like the Wrigley, the the
- 58:28Ivy's got to go to there, but not a bad, not a bad, you know,
- 58:32maybe could have found some a little better, but that's fine.
- 58:36My second pick. Give it.
- 58:46This is going to ruffle some feathers.
- 58:49I I do believe I do declare with my second pick.
- 58:56Oh, let's try to get back-to-back picks.
- 58:57Give me the tomahawk chop. OK.
- 59:05The tomahawk chop. So I've got the pinstripes and
- 59:09the tomahawk chop. I think I think the leader in
- 59:12the clubhouse right now, if I'm being honest with you.
- 59:14No, I've got, I've got some, some humdingers coming, I think.
- 59:19I've got if if it makes it to my last pick and I and I snag it, I
- 59:23think it's I think it's game over my third pick give me.
- 59:29Wait, what'd you just do? What'd you say?
- 59:31Tomak chop. OK, Yeah, yeah.
- 59:33Tomak chop for I'm can't believe I got this at my 3:00.
- 59:39Go ahead, just give me give me the green monster.
- 59:43Yeah, that's fine. Give me the green monster, is
- 59:51it? Should we just declare the draft
- 59:53over after three picks? How you feeling I mean?
- 59:56Give me. You think you're going to bounce
- 59:58back with four and five. Give me the you mean 3 and 4?
- 1:00:13No, you have. Oh, right.
- 1:00:14Yeah, yeah, yeah. My bad, my bad.
- 1:00:20Give me the Utah St. home run marker.
- 1:00:27That's good. That Camden Yards.
- 1:00:29That's a great pick. Then give me the splash down
- 1:00:41counter in San Francisco. So like, we'll just call it for
- 1:00:48for the sake of the draft, we'll just call it like the splash
- 1:00:50hits in San Francisco. All right, all right.
- 1:00:54I like that. See what's left on my list here.
- 1:01:03I jotted down some thoughts earlier just to make sure.
- 1:01:06I feel like I'm doing pretty well for just shooting from the
- 1:01:09hip here. I, I mean, that's I like, I like
- 1:01:12when we shoot from the hip from time to time.
- 1:01:18So this is it for me. 4:00 and 5:00.
- 1:01:24I got to be selective here. What do I want?
- 1:01:30Give me. Give me the Philly fanatic.
- 1:01:45I was hoping to grab him at 5:00.
- 1:01:46Give me Philly Fanatic. And then I got I got my last
- 1:01:52pick here. Try it.
- 1:02:06Yeah, man, I'm trying to like. If you get me here, I'm.
- 1:02:11If you steal this one from me, I got to really take some time to
- 1:02:14think because I don't have a back.
- 1:02:15Trying to spread the love. How to back up to Philly?
- 1:02:24Trying to. Spread the love here.
- 1:02:26But I mean, I have a real chance here to just put the, you know,
- 1:02:40I could finish this thing. Let's do honorable mentions
- 1:02:51after this. Yeah, yeah, I like that.
- 1:02:53Yeah. See, I'm I'm down to 1 left on
- 1:03:01my list because we pretty much actually no, I'm down to two,
- 1:03:06but I don't know which one of these two that I want more.
- 1:03:11In fact, I think I know I you said you have a backup to the
- 1:03:15Philly Fanatic. I have two backups now, I
- 1:03:17thought. I think I know what your backup
- 1:03:20is. Just racking my brain just to
- 1:03:27make sure I don't give me trying to think of which I got to play
- 1:03:39to the audience here. I got to think of which one's
- 1:03:41going to draw more. I'm overthinking this.
- 1:03:52Give me give me go Cubs go. Give me go, Cubs, go.
- 1:04:00Solid. All right, well, you didn't
- 1:04:03steal either of them, so just got to figure out which one I
- 1:04:06want to do. I mean, I guess this is like the
- 1:04:12same like the same. It's kind of like in in line
- 1:04:16with what you did, like Fenway, like the monster at Fenway.
- 1:04:23I'm going to go Roberto Clemente Bridge.
- 1:04:27That's good. Yeah.
- 1:04:28I was going to say I I didn't. I was going to take that angle,
- 1:04:32but I just didn't know how to say it.
- 1:04:33It was like essentially what I was thinking of was like the
- 1:04:36view like PN. I didn't want to say PNC Park
- 1:04:38because of that would be me saying like, oh, I think PNC
- 1:04:40Park is the best, which I mean it's top three for sure, but I
- 1:04:43didn't want to tread in those. I think the bridge is like.
- 1:04:47The bridge in in particular is that's a, that's a strong pick.
- 1:04:51What was the other one you're side in between?
- 1:04:53Is that it for you? Was that your last pick?
- 1:04:54That was my last pick. That's fine.
- 1:04:56Yeah, my honorable mention. What was the one you're deciding
- 1:04:59between? Well, now we kind of like now I
- 1:05:05just thought of a better one that I feel like I I would bump,
- 1:05:08but I don't want to double up with the Orioles so.
- 1:05:10I had the warehouse. The warehouse was like that, but
- 1:05:16the other one I was thinking of was the the Big Apple for the
- 1:05:20Mets coming. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:05:22That's a good one. I also had I had purple row in
- 1:05:27Coors. That's a good one.
- 1:05:29That's a solid one. That's a sneaky 1.
- 1:05:31Yeah, but that it wasn't going to.
- 1:05:33Win. I don't think that, yeah, I
- 1:05:34don't think that gets a ton. But I mean, I mean, if we're
- 1:05:36talking like uniqueness here, I mean it doesn't get much more
- 1:05:39unique than that really. Yeah.
- 1:05:41But I, I mean, I didn't say it had to be unique.
- 1:05:43I just had to say like the best thing.
- 1:05:45So it's, yeah, however you define it, man, there's so many.
- 1:05:49We there's a lot that you could do here reading through some
- 1:05:52reading through some of the comments here.
- 1:05:54Do you like the train and the train?
- 1:05:58Well, Daikin. Well, Daikin, Bernie Brewer down
- 1:06:02the slide. That was what I thought about
- 1:06:04today. Yeah, I know, I know.
- 1:06:07I want to. I want to I want to sub that one
- 1:06:14in. Here's the thing though.
- 1:06:14I don't know how many votes that's winning you either.
- 1:06:17It's a great one. It's a.
- 1:06:19Great one that's better than the splash hits.
- 1:06:22Splash Splash Hits was a. Yeah, but look at the market
- 1:06:26you're playing too. You're playing to a much larger
- 1:06:27market potentially with with the giant pick.
- 1:06:30I'm like getting the fans are dormant.
- 1:06:32I haven't seen them in years. That's not true.
- 1:06:38What else we got? Yeah.
- 1:06:41Good luck. Good luck.
- 1:06:44You. You.
- 1:06:44You chose to not go with the Bernie Brewer slide.
- 1:06:49You lost those votes, and now you just nullified your Giants
- 1:06:52votes. Good.
- 1:06:52Good job. Good job.
- 1:06:56The Sausage Race, also in Milwaukee.
- 1:06:58Not bad. You said the train, Sweet
- 1:07:02Caroline. Somebody said the pot at Rocky
- 1:07:05Stadium, the pool in Arizona. It's good one.
- 1:07:13The Bleacher creatures, which I guess you kind of covered with
- 1:07:16roll call. Yeah.
- 1:07:19Tomahawk, chop towels, Hill throwback, you know, You know
- 1:07:26what else we got here? Philly fanatic.
- 1:07:31Philly fanatic. Yeah, I mean.
- 1:07:34Philly fanatic was was. I was getting him on the way
- 1:07:36back around if you didn't. Handful of folks which this
- 1:07:43would be my final thought here. A lot of folks in the in the
- 1:07:46comments talking about since he's opening day I heard nothing
- 1:07:51but great things. About that, maybe need to like
- 1:07:54do that? We need to do that one year.
- 1:07:56That would be. That would be awesome.
- 1:07:58The Electric. I don't know if we can pull it
- 1:08:00off next year because. You'd have to get you a drone I
- 1:08:03think world. Baseball Classic is next year.
- 1:08:06True. Can you fly a drone you know how
- 1:08:09to? You know how to fly one of
- 1:08:10those? I don't know how to, but I'm an.
- 1:08:12Xbox controller, right? Yeah, I'm sure they there's
- 1:08:16probably some restrictions flying over that many people,
- 1:08:18but who knows, maybe not, who knows.
- 1:08:23Anyway, that's all I got. Good stuff.
- 1:08:26That's a good one. Good quick little draft.
- 1:08:30No research draft except you got new.
- 1:08:34Well, I just pulled some thoughts together.
- 1:08:36I mean, those weren't going to go on Left unsaid had I not
- 1:08:39jotted them down. I just wanted to make sure I I
- 1:08:42didn't forget any of them. Anyway, you got anything else?
- 1:08:49I don't think so. I'm ready for this week to be
- 1:08:52done, I know that. Preach.
- 1:08:56Give me the weekend, you know. Preach.
- 1:09:00I don't know. That's about it.
- 1:09:02We'll talk to you Sunday and. Talk to you Sunday.
- 1:09:08We're almost there, folks. We're almost there, curveballs,
- 1:09:14We're almost there. We love you all.
- 1:09:15And as always, looking forward to talking more baseball with
- 1:09:17you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
