Transcript
- 0:12All right, good afternoon. Welcome Miller and Condon on a
- 0:14Tuesday. See Iowa Sports Radio Network,
- 0:18Trent Condon, Ken Miller for the next two hours talking sports
- 0:21with you. Thanks for starting your
- 0:22afternoon with us. Here's what's coming up on our
- 0:25program 1225, our weekly look at the Missouri Valley Conference
- 0:29with Adam Emmenecker. He will join us Drake Place
- 0:32tonight. By the way, Bradley 8:00, that's
- 0:34an ESPN Plus game as well. Talk to Emma Ecker about the the
- 0:38two local teams in the Valley in general.
- 0:41At 12/25, 12:45 we're going to head to Las Vegas to Circa with
- 0:45the boss. Derek Stevens, the owner of
- 0:48Circa the D and the Golden Gate will join us.
- 0:52We'll have a number of topics for Derrick Stevens.
- 0:54Look forward to catching up with him as we seemingly do once a
- 0:57year on the radio. Our number 2, Rob Doster, he is
- 1:01the one of the owners of the field of 68 talk college hoops
- 1:05on a national perspective with Doster.
- 1:07And then back to Vegas, beloved with Chris Andrews, who is the
- 1:11line maker amongst other duties, one of the longest serving
- 1:17bookmakers in Nevada and a legend without the doubt Chris
- 1:21Andrews from the South Point will join us.
- 1:23We'll go behind that counter with Chris and see what they're
- 1:26doing on the South side of the Strip because it's still the Las
- 1:30Vegas Blvd. I guess you wouldn't call it the
- 1:32strip, but anyways, get my. Point S tip of the strip.
- 1:34South to that's what they called the tip of the strip.
- 1:37Yeah, with Chris Andrews. Look forward to catching up with
- 1:39him, and we'll do so at about 125.
- 1:43Trent will make some picks. We'll turn things over off the
- 1:45bench with the boys there 2 until 5:00.
- 1:48So I watched North Carolina at your request yesterday.
- 1:51I didn't. I saw the 1st oh 28 minutes they
- 1:54worked by 30. Right.
- 1:55Yeah, there's a little comeback there by the cues.
- 1:57I missed every single one of those buckets.
- 1:58I was watching my Jets at that point as they dropped the puck
- 2:01at 7:30, but it must have been a hell of a finish 'cause this
- 2:05game was way out of hand. I, I, I don't think you read too
- 2:09much into it. North Carolina, remember?
- 2:11Also this weekend, they have Duke on tap.
- 2:13I remember, yeah. Just a little look ahead factor
- 2:15maybe there when you're up by 30 and just put it into cruise
- 2:17control. What did you think?
- 2:19North Carolina, I think they're a nice team.
- 2:22I think they're a second weekend.
- 2:24Yeah, second weekend team. I don't think I'll be opening
- 2:27the app to better them in the final four markets.
- 2:29I don't think I would go there. I think there's too many teams
- 2:34that fit that bill, like North Carolina.
- 2:36Like you say, it depends on the draw.
- 2:38They certainly got some dudes. Yes, they got some nice players.
- 2:41How do you say the kids name the big kid?
- 2:43The seven footer #13 yeah, he's a hell of a player.
- 2:47Obviously Wilson. Everybody knows who Caleb Wilson
- 2:49is. And excuse me, I want to quench
- 2:52my thirst. But yeah, it was it was a good
- 2:56watch. It was a good watch watching
- 2:57those 2GO at it. So did Syracuse start making
- 3:00some threes or something? Because that's what you said
- 3:02they had to do to to keep this thing close.
- 3:05But I'll tell you what, I was into that then, watched my squad
- 3:08then and on my iPad I was what? Keeping track of the Big 12
- 3:13until The Jets got got beaten overtime.
- 3:15So I want I have two hockey questions for you.
- 3:17Oh you do Yes, yes I do. This would excite you #1 What
- 3:21was hell about bitching about last night?
- 3:22Strap got knocked off his helmet.
- 3:24OK, they're supposed to blow the whistle.
- 3:26But he was OK when they were coming down and rushing down the
- 3:28other end it. Was fine then, yeah.
- 3:30When it looks like The Jets might score, he didn't have a
- 3:32leg to stand up. Yeah.
- 3:34Yeah. OK.
- 3:34So that's all that was all right.
- 3:36The second one is I saw the rules for when we get to Olympic
- 3:40hockey. Which is coming up man, and
- 3:41you're pumped up. I love it I.
- 3:43Can't your favorite team? Is the Winnipeg Jets your
- 3:45favorite? Team team, though, is Team
- 3:48Canada, the Canadian happy team. I'm disappointed.
- 3:51Not that I'm going to be on vacation, but I would like to be
- 3:53able to be here to talk about it a little bit because the whole
- 3:56tournament, I think the whole Olympics, I'm gone.
- 3:58Oh yeah, yeah, I'm taking two weeks off.
- 4:00I've never taken 2 weeks off. Before it'll be good for.
- 4:02You. I think it will be too.
- 4:04But so I'm kind of disappointed. I'm going to miss that part of
- 4:07it. Yeah, but I can't wait.
- 4:08I can't wait and I just crossed my fingers and hope against hope
- 4:13that it's candidate in the US. You remember it a year ago, the
- 4:15Four Nations when nobody's talking hockey.
- 4:18You remember I captured the country.
- 4:19It really did. It was great, it really was.
- 4:21And thanks to the Chuck brothers in small part for how they
- 4:25started that final game most overtime and McDavid ended it.
- 4:29But I hope we get US and Canada in the gold medal game because
- 4:32my own man, that would move the needle.
- 4:34So anymore hockey, I'm all yours.
- 4:37The other question is, so I see today that when they get to
- 4:41overtime, they will go three on three throughout.
- 4:45No shoot outs. No shoot outs.
- 4:47It is just three on three. That's the way that they're
- 4:50going to determine who moves on right away, not after 10
- 4:53minutes. You take a skid off anything
- 4:54like that as a lifelong hockey guy like you are, do you like
- 4:59it? Is it too?
- 5:01In the beginning I hated it. I remember having this argument
- 5:04in the in the late 90s. What's wrong with the game
- 5:07ending in a tie? I seriously had that thought,
- 5:11but I was dead. Did you also say that the year
- 5:13that Iowa had three ties, that was that was before I think he
- 5:16got to the state. It was, must have been, I don't
- 5:18remember. I think they went 6-3 and three
- 5:20that year. Something like that.
- 5:21Really. Yeah.
- 5:21So yeah, that would have been brutal.
- 5:24But no, I like it. I think it's going to be good.
- 5:26You're going to see skill like you haven't seen in a long time.
- 5:29These, I know Team USA is loaded.
- 5:32So are the Canucks, I mean the Canadians and they they'll put
- 5:36on a show and I hope we see that game in the gold medal.
- 5:38So, Speaking of putting on a show.
- 5:40And quick sidebar, Yeah, I have to remind myself because this is
- 5:44the way my mind works. 1988, yeah, I hope football team, that
- 5:47was the year it was six. Yeah.
- 5:49They went 6-4 and three that season.
- 5:51They went 4-1 and three in Big 10 play.
- 5:53That's when they opened up the year at Hawaii.
- 5:56They got absolutely robbed by the officials.
- 6:00There were penalties all over the place, leading for Hawaii to
- 6:03get Rainbow Warriors 2724. Iowa was a preseason top ten
- 6:07team that season #9 Iowa goes down.
- 6:10That was the first game of the year.
- 6:11Preseason top 10. September 3rd they go down in
- 6:15that 1/27/24 on a Jason Elam walk off field goal for the
- 6:21Rainbow Warriors. Later on that season they had
- 6:24ties against Michigan State 1010, Michigan 1717, and Ohio
- 6:31State 2424. They ended the year in the Peach
- 6:34Bowl against NC State. Lost NC State, who was a thorn
- 6:37in the side of the Hawkeyes in all sports in the late 80s as
- 6:40they fell 2823 in Fulton County Stadium.
- 6:43Unbelievable. Three ties.
- 6:45Yeah, I'm glad that there's no such thing anymore.
- 6:47Yes, as ties play the damn thing, get it over with.
- 6:49And I'm one of the few that likes the ghost runner.
- 6:52Yes, when it when it comes to baseball anyways, when it comes
- 6:56to the Big 12 man, this this Kansas team, when Peterson is
- 6:59going, he wasn't for the longest part of the game, but when it
- 7:02mattered most, there he was. But Dinga's obviously a heck of
- 7:06a player. Council's really elevated his
- 7:08game. White hit a couple of.
- 7:10Really. Important player too.
- 7:12I'm with you. You know who did not have a good
- 7:14game last night? And I'm not saying it's going to
- 7:17hurt his opportunities to win the Wooden Award, but JT Toppen
- 7:21did not have a game last. Night deal with foul trouble.
- 7:24For a lot of it, you're right. Yep.
- 7:26There were a couple of times inside where he just he
- 7:28couldn't, both hedging out front and then under the rim.
- 7:31It just wasn't completely JT done.
- 7:32A couple of those fouls are just dumb, just dumb fouls too.
- 7:35Like you can't do that. You just can't.
- 7:37Yet Texas Tech looked like that. It wrapped.
- 7:39Up they did have it wrapped. Up.
- 7:40It's over. And then Peterson, he had
- 7:42different ideas. Yeah, so.
- 7:45Where? Where's this Kansas team
- 7:47ceiling? If if indeed he's end of the
- 7:52game, he wants to play in the game.
- 7:54He's not going to let the injuries creep into his head or
- 7:56more importantly, his agent's going to keep his mouth shut and
- 7:59his parents behind the bench. I get it.
- 8:01They want to protect the asset. I do.
- 8:05But once you get to, I'm not even saying you need to do it
- 8:07for the Big 12 tournament. There's there's, there's bigger.
- 8:10Maybe even shut him down for the big.
- 8:12Maybe right, maybe do that. I I don't think that's crazy,
- 8:15Trent, because he is this gifted of a player.
- 8:18And as Peterson goes, so will The Jayhawks.
- 8:20It's as simple as that. And if he goes and if he's
- 8:22motivated and if he wants to play and injuries are not even
- 8:25coming into his head, where can this Kansas team go?
- 8:28Are they a Final Four team? Couldn't they win it all?
- 8:32I don't. Think they can win it all unless
- 8:34it's like a Carmelo type performance.
- 8:36It's it's Glenn Rice with Michigan.
- 8:38Just a historic type of 1. I think he's this kind of player
- 8:41though, Trenton. He's talented enough to do that,
- 8:44but he does he have to want. I mean, we talked about it where
- 8:46he was quiet for he played 35 minutes last night and 22 of
- 8:51those minutes. I forgot he.
- 8:52Yeah, you're right. You're right.
- 8:54Kind of hanging in the back. Yes.
- 8:55Yeah. And that's the maybe that light
- 8:58bulb comes on and when we get to the bright lights of March
- 9:00Madness, suddenly he this trimeter goes.
- 9:02To the red zone. He flips the switch and he
- 9:05becomes the guy we know he can be.
- 9:06It's not talent. The talent is not obvious there.
- 9:10Unbelievably. Gifted player it's the other
- 9:11component the want the the heartbeat, the grit.
- 9:15You know, those those terms that really don't have real beating,
- 9:17but they're things that we talk about.
- 9:19You can't quantify. You can't put a number on it.
- 9:21That's that's what I have. And because of that, I say no.
- 9:24I mean, start where we started the conversation with North
- 9:26Carolina. I would rather put a bet on
- 9:27North Carolina to make a final four with better odds that I
- 9:30would Kansas at this because we just don't know what Peter said.
- 9:34Doesn't it have the feeling of we're sitting there on Saturday
- 9:36or Sunday afternoon, they're a four seed and they get knocked
- 9:39off by A5 and just, yeah, man, what could have been?
- 9:42Yeah, what could have been. That's how his career comes to a
- 9:45close. And in San Diego, you know,
- 9:47something like that, some weird locale.
- 9:49And that's what we get out of Darren Peterson and he's off to
- 9:51the NBA and we almost forget about his Kansas career.
- 9:54That's where I am at this point because I just, I want more out
- 9:57of him. And I don't think I'm alone on
- 9:59that front. But when you watch this guy, you
- 10:00know, the talent is there. You want to see more?
- 10:03So I opened the DraftKings app yesterday just to get an idea.
- 10:06I had not done this. The Wooden Award with the the
- 10:08Most Valuable Player, I guess in college basketball.
- 10:12Did you see the odds on this boozer?
- 10:14Is -900? That's crazy.
- 10:17That's nuts. Debance is the second choice.
- 10:20He's 12:00 to 1:12 to 1:00. That feels like.
- 10:25He's going to win it, but that's that.
- 10:26That's the margin from the favor to the second choice.
- 10:31I see him Boozer now -900 yeah, 12 to one for Debansa.
- 10:36Braden Smith. Their schedule eases up now and
- 10:38they have an opportunity for Purdue to make a little bit of a
- 10:40run. Joshua Jefferson, it's crazy to
- 10:42see him in the number four spot in the player of the year
- 10:45rankings. There's top and.
- 10:46Let me stop you right there for just a second yes Joshua
- 10:50Jefferson's the like you said, the four shorts price he's 20 to
- 10:531 to win the Wooden Award is the best player in college
- 10:55basketball. Are we sure that he's the best
- 10:58player on his team? He.
- 11:01He's the most complete player on the team.
- 11:04He's more a complete player than Malan Monchilovich, I will give
- 11:07you that. Is he more important to his team
- 11:09this year than Monchilovich is at at this?
- 11:11Point. It's a good argument.
- 11:12Is it right? Yes, absolutely you can do that
- 11:14and. I'm guessing Monchilovich isn't
- 11:16even listed. Well, I'm looking at him right
- 11:17now and he's not listed. No.
- 11:20And you look at the Ken Pomeroy rankings as they go through the
- 11:23top 10, and I think that's probably a part of it.
- 11:25A lot of people kind of take the shortcut.
- 11:27Boozer is far and away the number one spot in those
- 11:30rankings. Have you seen him play?
- 11:31Yeah, I have two. Yeah, he's a nice player.
- 11:33I watch him against Virginia Tech for almost all the game on
- 11:37Saturday. Well, starting worrying.
- 11:38It was the 11:00 game right after game day and yeah, I like.
- 11:41Him I do too, I saw. Him.
- 11:42I don't love him though. I'm with you, Trent.
- 11:44He's a great player and he could be number one overall pick, but
- 11:47I don't think he's head and shoulders above any of these
- 11:49other dudes. I really don't.
- 11:51Look it off the board. I think you're starting to
- 11:54understand my affinity for Kingston Flemings.
- 11:56Yeah, he's hell of a player, isn't?
- 11:57He he's going to be a one and done and this Houston team,
- 12:01there's some things offensively that are better than really
- 12:04anything that we see. They're always incredibly
- 12:05efficient, but they're able to do it at a little quicker pace
- 12:08this year than what we're used to with with Sampson.
- 12:10I, I think that if you're looking for more of a dark
- 12:12horse, Flemings, if they take the regular season crown, he's a
- 12:16big part of that. That might be a direction that
- 12:18I'd be willing to look like if you're not going to lay -900
- 12:21and. I won't just just one more real
- 12:24quick. How big of a a blow for Texas
- 12:27Tech yesterday was was not having Christian Anderson, their
- 12:30very talented point guard who didn't play.
- 12:32I mean, he came out at half time, stood on the end of the
- 12:34bench. They thought maybe he's going to
- 12:35be able to get back in. He did not.
- 12:37He was sick, apparently was illness.
- 12:39It's not injury related, but obviously not having your point
- 12:44guard is going to hurt your chances right?
- 12:46He is one of the top point guards in the country.
- 12:49He's the third choice to win the koozie, which goes to the best
- 12:52point guard in college basketball.
- 12:53By the way, Bennett Sturtz is the sixth choice of 35 to 1 and
- 12:59Taemon Lipsy is the eighth choice at 50 to 1.
- 13:02How cool would that be come down to the end?
- 13:04We're talking about those two guys for that award.
- 13:06Braden Smith, your runaway favorite.
- 13:08But I think it was impactful not having Anderson out there.
- 13:10You saw a couple of times where just that that offense was
- 13:13really bogged down and it was a little bit too much hero ball.
- 13:17There was that one possession where like two different times
- 13:19guys are asking for the ball and I can't remember who the kid was
- 13:21for Texas Tech. Then just wave him off and then
- 13:23turn it over off his foot. What are you doing?
- 13:25Pass the ball. Yeah, V Anderson out there,
- 13:27That's not going to happen. I still like Texas Tech.
- 13:30I still like this team a lot, talking about upside and those
- 13:33kind of things. I think Texas Tech definitely
- 13:35can be a final 14. No, I won't fall off my chair if
- 13:37they cut down the Nets in Kansas City.
- 13:40I wouldn't. OK, you can make case for half a
- 13:43dozen teams, right? When it comes to that.
- 13:44This tournament's going to be absolutely bananas in the in the
- 13:49Big 12 tournament. Kansas City, my God, talk about
- 13:51a wide open affair. Before we get to the phone, Jim,
- 13:56just give me one second if if you would, I'll come to you
- 13:58right away. While this is on my mind, I want
- 14:00to ask Trent before we get to Adam Emmenecker and then go
- 14:02right into to Derek Stevens. This Cal Sheet, this, this
- 14:08prediction market and now you're davidpertumhadapiece@espn.com.
- 14:13You can actually bet on what an announcer is going to say.
- 14:17It's crazy. That's is it regulated for
- 14:21starters. I don't know exactly how to.
- 14:27This is a betting exchange. It's yes, and it's an exchange
- 14:31without the parameters that you have in place with local.
- 14:35Gambling. With oversight, right with, with
- 14:37the ability to have that. And I've heard so many stories.
- 14:41We'll have Lee Sterling on on Thursday.
- 14:43His daughter almost nails a national anthem every single
- 14:46year. Can't bet on that in Iowa, by
- 14:47the way. But you hear year after year, Oh
- 14:50yeah, I was in the building. I yeah, heard them going through
- 14:53the warm ups. You're able to time it up and
- 14:55we, we give this tip to a couple buddies, right?
- 14:58You have that part of it. That's one thing.
- 15:00But when you're talking about these kind of things that are
- 15:02easy move easily manipulated. Exactly.
- 15:05And it's not just that it is stock markets, it is going after
- 15:10countries before time, something that happened not not too long
- 15:14ago. It's I mean, we talk about the
- 15:17wild, Wild West. That's what this is.
- 15:19Are there no rules? I don't think so.
- 15:22How was how? How was the this getting passing
- 15:25the smell test? Well, and on top of it, there's
- 15:27many people believe that without the regulation that you have,
- 15:31there are so many people in there that are just skimming
- 15:33from the top. I'm sure.
- 15:34Oh absolutely that this because you don't have the same kind of.
- 15:37You're not licensed by the Nevada race or the the Gaming
- 15:40Commission, right? Or the IRGC here in Iowa, are
- 15:43they league? They must be legal.
- 15:45I know I'm a buddy of mine's texting me right now.
- 15:47He lives in Des Moines and he's firing on it and he's doing
- 15:50pretty well. Well, good for him.
- 15:52How long will that? Last, that's what my question
- 15:54is. I got to ask Derek that
- 15:55question. All right, let's get Jim in
- 15:57here. Derek, Steve is going to join us
- 15:58in half an hour. Adam Emmenecker is going to join
- 16:00us in about 10 minutes. Jim is going to join us right
- 16:03now. Thanks for being patient, Jim.
- 16:05You bet. No problem.
- 16:06Your conversation about Kansas. Yes.
- 16:08Sir, frustrating that Peterson is so frustrating to the point I
- 16:12can't put a wager on a Kansas game because I don't know how
- 16:14long he's going to play. He has electric.
- 16:17He has electric. Those 2-3 pointers last night.
- 16:19Wow. And then I went down to the
- 16:21rabbit hole. Go look at the under 19 USA team
- 16:26that they had that just demolished Canada in the gold
- 16:29medal game. But like 65, Debansa Peterson,
- 16:33there's like three or four others.
- 16:34I'm like, how do they ever lose under 17?
- 16:39Under 17, I think it was. Yeah, that's amazing, the
- 16:42roster. And then the other thing I
- 16:44would, I would definitely put Texas Tech going further than
- 16:47Kansas just because I think that you can trust them with the when
- 16:49they get their point guard back. I can't trust Kansas because I
- 16:52don't know what Peterson's going to do, but he is Uber talented.
- 16:54Oh, my God. He's unbelievable.
- 16:56Jim, thanks for the call. Appreciate it.
- 16:58Yeah, he really is. Co Pete was also on that team.
- 17:00No, he was. That's not fair.
- 17:04Yeah, Daniel Jacobson, the Big 73 kid that plays for Purdue, he
- 17:07was on that team also. Yeah, pretty good list of
- 17:10players there with the banser and company.
- 17:12So did anybody in this tournament give him a run?
- 17:15I don't know. You don't have the.
- 17:17You don't have the results there.
- 17:18Oh, Jesus. Unbelievable.
- 17:20All right, Amenekar, coming up momentarily.
- 17:23What else did you do last night? Anything after that?
- 17:25I didn't. I was, I think a foot flipped on
- 17:28a hockey game and I wound down. I had one thing that I wanted to
- 17:32watch and I didn't get an opportunity to.
- 17:34And I wonder if you're going to watch this on Netflix.
- 17:37Yeah, the miracle. The new documentary on the 1980
- 17:40Olympic team. You've seen it?
- 17:41No, but it's on your list. Yes.
- 17:44Same. Heard a little something.
- 17:45In fact, I heard Van Pelt talking about it a little bit
- 17:48yesterday on his podcast and. Trancy was unbelievable that
- 17:50that whole that whole Olympics. Well, the only thing you
- 17:55remember, of course, is the Miracle on Ice, but Lake Placid,
- 17:59it was incredible. And the fact that the game was
- 18:01shown on tape delay, yes. And I don't think the world knew
- 18:05because there was no Internet, right?
- 18:08Right. Yeah, your newspaper is not
- 18:10coming to your doorstep till the next morning.
- 18:11Right, exactly. The news stayed away from it and
- 18:14didn't talk about it. Even the 5:00 news didn't talk
- 18:17about it in order for people to be able to just watch it for
- 18:20them in real. Time, my God.
- 18:22And see the way that that vanished up, it's an incredible
- 18:24story. So unlikely.
- 18:26And yeah, I'm very excited about that.
- 18:27And apparently there's a lot of great footage.
- 18:29I've heard the same thing that had never been seen before.
- 18:31I'm wondering myself, well, where was that right?
- 18:33Exactly. Anyways, all right, let's get

- 19:42onlinedokodsm.com dokodsm.com. Let's talk the valley with our
- 19:49guy Adam Emmenecker joins us each and every week.
- 19:52Adam Trenton Ken, thank you for coming on.
- 19:54Appreciate it as always. Drake in action tonight.
- 19:57We'll, we'll get to that in just a second.
- 19:59Want to go back, Drake? And as you know, had been, you
- 20:01know, stringing some wins together and thought maybe
- 20:04things were starting to turn for the better.
- 20:07And then they ran into Bradley. And then they ran into some dude
- 20:10whose name I can't pronounce #3 who just went crazy. 9 of 10
- 20:16from 3. Adam, what a game.
- 20:19Yeah, and it's Alex Hubrix. Hubrix.
- 20:22Hubrix and he was, he was definitely the difference maker.
- 20:26You know, you look at the the last few games for Bradley in
- 20:29particular, because Bradley's been a little bit up and down,
- 20:31right? It's a pretty young team.
- 20:33They're they're strong, they're physical.
- 20:35You saw some of the versatility and depth in the roster.
- 20:38But the prior 3 great games, 6 of 22 from three against UIC, 5
- 20:42of 22 from three against Indiana State, and five of 14 against
- 20:46Illinois State, they've lost two out of those.
- 20:49So they were 16 out of 58 / 3 game in that game against Drake,
- 20:5417 out of 26. So half the attempts and they
- 20:58made more. Bradley was sizzling, and it
- 21:00helps when Hubris goes 9 for 10. So a team goes 17 to 26 and yet
- 21:05Drake had somewhat of an opportunity, got a run to, you
- 21:09know, cut it down there and down to about 12.
- 21:11At one point in the middle of the second-half, he kind of look
- 21:15at it and say, yeah, it stinks to lose and certainly lose in
- 21:17that fashion. But three-point variance is such
- 21:19an important thing in today's age of basketball.
- 21:22Do you look at it in a way for Drake and say maybe this isn't
- 21:24that big of a deal? Nobody is going to go 17 to 26,
- 21:27I guess does the rest of the way.
- 21:29Yeah, I mean that that is definitely part of it.
- 21:31Sometimes it's just kind of not your night.
- 21:33Now, defensively, you know, a guy might go 4 for 5/5 for six,
- 21:37something like that, but you want to make sure they're not
- 21:40getting the breakout to the 9 for 10, right?
- 21:42So a couple of the threes that were made, like Caillou came
- 21:46into the game for Bradley, A7 footer from China.
- 21:49He has scored 31 points all year.
- 21:52Coming into the game, he had 12 at halftime because he hit two
- 21:54threes. Those are the like you shrugged
- 21:57your shoulders because you're you're following the scouting
- 22:00report and sometimes guys just just come off the bench or
- 22:03whatever and make plays. I thought Drake approached the
- 22:06game and started off the game pretty well.
- 22:08I thought they were competitive. Didn't necessarily keep the
- 22:12physicality and the connectiveness on the defensive
- 22:14end. It wasn't the same intensity
- 22:17that we've seen in other games, especially with Kubrick since he
- 22:19started going off into the first half, into the second-half.
- 22:23But but I think to your point, Trent, that was not the first
- 22:26Bradley loss, which was just laying an egg.
- 22:28This was a competitive game. Bradley shot the crap out of it.
- 22:32And even though Drake would have wanted to get avenged that first
- 22:35loss with the with the win at home, that that is, you know, a
- 22:39bit of a momentum step back, but not something that makes you
- 22:43feel deflated afterwards. Yeah, the only way it could be a
- 22:45bit deflated maybe is with I when I would say both playing
- 22:48Sunday, Drake apparently had their biggest crowd of the year.
- 22:50Would like to see the home folks to see one being put one in the
- 22:53win column, but it didn't happen, obviously.
- 22:56So when it comes to Drake, obviously Quinn's going to be
- 22:58Quinn, right? He's going to lead the most
- 23:00night, if not every night in scoring.
- 23:02Who's that guy who's got to step up and be that number two?
- 23:05Thought that maybe, you know, Shetler might be that guy, maybe
- 23:08Larson, who needs to be consistently, you know, Quinn's
- 23:13running mate, if you will. Yeah, well, I mean, I think you
- 23:16look at the last couple of games and, and part of winning four
- 23:19out of five, a big part of that was Owen Larson being the
- 23:21secondary guard, a secondary creator and a guy that can score
- 23:25it that that really helped bolster and to be able to play
- 23:29the Ying and the Yang with Jalen Quinn.
- 23:31And and I think Kevin Owen Larson, because he really is
- 23:34Jalen Quinn is man #1 the player that's going to be able to break
- 23:38down defenses, right? His quickness, his strength, his
- 23:40ability to finish with both hands.
- 23:42Owen Larson especially, he's getting adjusted back and
- 23:45getting more comfortable. He can breakdown defenses to get
- 23:48him in rotation and start to spray the ball out to shooters.
- 23:51That's what's going to open up your guys like Eli Shetler and
- 23:54your guys like Andrew Aaliyah. But when you look at those two
- 23:57and particular and include Jay Sean Thomas in this a little
- 24:00bit, those 3 scores are primarily finishers more than
- 24:04their creators. So I think your point can of who
- 24:07has to be consistently in a shot creation mode, whether for
- 24:12themselves or others, in addition to Jalen Quinn and Owen
- 24:15Larson, really is the key to that.
- 24:16When Owen Larson has scored 20 points, this team's been a heck
- 24:19of a lot better as he's recovered from injury.
- 24:22We've started to see that more here in the last couple of
- 24:24weeks, but it's just been fewer and further between and his in
- 24:28his first season in a in a drag uniform.
- 24:30Now it's a match up against Belmont.
- 24:32And Speaking of three-point shooting, they're fifth in the
- 24:34country, hitting over 40% of their three pointers this year
- 24:38#2 in the country, an effective field goal percentage.
- 24:41This team efficient on that end of the floor.
- 24:43They play at a quicker pace. They're the favorite definitely
- 24:46and at the top of the standings right now.
- 24:48What do you like about this Belmont team?
- 24:50You know, So what we've known about Belmont since they've
- 24:53entered the Missouri Valley is exactly what you mentioned,
- 24:55Trent, that they are an incredibly efficient and
- 24:58explosive offense. And we got to see that at Drake
- 25:01here a couple weeks ago, right? Remember, Drake was up 44 to 25
- 25:04at halftime against the Bruins of 25 in the second-half.
- 25:08And then just the scoring and the efficiency in the
- 25:11three-point shooting for Belmont really took off.
- 25:14Well, you look at this Belmont team, they scored 54 points in
- 25:18their rivalry game this weekend against Murray State.
- 25:20They held state to 26 points from or 26% from three.
- 25:24And you know, I think what the difference is, it's not just an
- 25:27explosive offense this year. This is a more athletic team.
- 25:31This is a more physical team in the middle.
- 25:32Drew Charnowski, I think for people that were at the Drake
- 25:35game against Belmont in Des Moines, Drew Charnowski at 6
- 25:39foot 11 really was a difference maker in that game.
- 25:41His ability to defend and even to agitate a little bit.
- 25:44The other thing that's different about this Belmont group,
- 25:47they're more potent off the bench.
- 25:48So this guy, Owen Dillon is about 6 foot 9, long, lengthy
- 25:52shooter, red shirt freshman, six straight games coming off the
- 25:55bench for him in double figures. He is 20 of 28 from three in
- 26:00that stretch, 20 of 28. That's basically taking what
- 26:03Alex Hubrick's did and doing that over six games.
- 26:06So it's a more balanced team, it's a more athletic team and
- 26:09it's a thicker team. This Belmont team's for real.
- 26:12Adam, my last thing for you is, and I've talked to Sean Roberts
- 26:15before the show today. We variety tops who do you know
- 26:18periodically during the week we're talking about the valley
- 26:22and I thought we made a really good point.
- 26:23I wanted to run it by you you know back in the day when you
- 26:26guys were there and and you're 2 year guy and you know that when
- 26:30Wichita State comes to comes to the Knapp Center, you go there
- 26:35or Creighton or whoever you know on top of the standings Indiana
- 26:39State, wherever it's going to be.
- 26:41You know, there's a little hatred develops over the years,
- 26:43right? But with NIL now and with
- 26:46rosters being raided seemingly at the end of every season, that
- 26:50passion to play another one of the Valley foes might not be
- 26:54there. Have you noticed that?
- 26:56And and obviously, if that's the case, that's really
- 26:58disappointing. Yeah, You know, I, I think, I
- 27:02think maybe some of the, I'll call it the contrived rivalries
- 27:07from having 4567 years of success.
- 27:11You don't maybe feel that as much, but I, I think it's, I
- 27:14think it's not that much different when you get into what
- 27:17is the true fan base rivalries. And I, I think that fits for in
- 27:21State Games, right? So whether it's Drake or you and
- 27:24I, whether it's Bradley and Illinois State, whether it's
- 27:27Murray State and Belmont, right? I, I think those rivalries still
- 27:31produce or engineer the the same type of feelings for the players
- 27:35and partially because you could just feel it oozes through the
- 27:39fan base. I, I do think, you know, Drake's
- 27:41been in an interesting position the last couple of years that
- 27:43the team has turned over pretty completely with the new coaching
- 27:46staff. But if you ask the Bradley, the
- 27:49Bradley Graves, how motivated they were to play against Drake
- 27:53after Drake either eliminated Bradley from by beating them in
- 27:57the regular season of the last few years or beating them in the
- 28:01conference tournament, I guarantee you there was a lot of
- 28:04motivation from that Bradley roster, even if it's only one or
- 28:07two or three guys that were on the team and remember back to
- 28:10those opportunities. So yes, it's a little bit
- 28:13different because it's not maybe 10 or 12 guys out of roster, but
- 28:17I, I do still think those natural rivalries that have
- 28:20existed existed over time. They still persist.
- 28:23One final thing, we go to the other side of the state over to
- 28:25the northeast corner and Cedar Falls.
- 28:27You and I got a win against Evansville.
- 28:29That's what you're supposed to do against the Purple Aces.
- 28:31We definitely know that. But some important news, Tristan
- 28:34Smith looks like a Ben Jacobson yesterday, a possibility of him
- 28:37coming back, 10 points, 5 rebounds, another bigger body
- 28:41for them as he's dealt with that hip injury.
- 28:43How important is getting Smith back back for the Panthers?
- 28:46Well, I mean, it's super important and a big part of the
- 28:49reason, not only because of what he's meant to that team, right?
- 28:52And we've talked about their offensive struggles, but look at
- 28:55their upcoming schedule, host Bradley at Murray at Belmont and
- 29:00then host Drake. So that is a that is an absolute
- 29:04killer schedule for the Panthers.
- 29:06I think what it means though, is it means a couple of things.
- 29:08Yes, that's a lot of risk, a lot of downside, a lot of challenge.
- 29:12But if you can get right coming down now the last eight games of
- 29:16the conference season because you're playing the teams that
- 29:19are where you are or above you in the standings, that that's a
- 29:22pretty good opportunity for the Panthers to be able to take a
- 29:25win, which also means a loss for their opponent to be able to
- 29:28pick up the standings and try to get to that the Friday game in a
- 29:32position to get a feed for a Friday game in Arch Madison.
- 29:35Adam Emmenecker joining us to talk Valley hoops each and every
- 29:38Tuesday. Adam, thanks for jumping on.
- 29:39Have a good week. Thank you.
- 29:42I appreciate it. Thanks guys.
- 29:43Good to talk to you Adam Emmenecker as we check in on the
- 29:45Valley Doko Pizza 2 locations, best New York style pizza in Des

- 29:55Ankeny. Derek Stevens is next.
- 29:58Millery Condon are on the Iowa Sports Radio Network.
- 30:08Hi, Mallory Congton, welcome back Iowa Sports Radio Network,
- 30:11whoever listening in the state of I, we're grateful that you
- 30:14are Lee Sterling for Paramount Sports going to join us on
- 30:17Thursday 12/30, 12:30 is normal spots.
- 30:21He'll have a handful of props that he wants to opine on and
- 30:25you're welcome to listen in and buy service if you want or just
- 30:28listen and do nothing, but he will join us.
- 30:31Lee Sterling coming up here on Thursday.
- 30:34Have you zeroed in on the game? Yes, and I'm kind of surprised.
- 30:39I think I'm going to be on the Patriots.
- 30:40You really are I. Think that I'm going to.
- 30:43I think what we saw in both championship games.
- 30:45Maybe the hate's gone too far in New England.
- 30:48The love has been a little bit too much on Seattle is Drake may
- 30:51hurt. Here's something for you last
- 30:53time that a favorite of four more is covered in the Super
- 30:55Bowl. Oh well, there's been a lot of.
- 30:592007. That's what it was, yeah.
- 31:02It's been a long time. Who?
- 31:03Who was 2007? I don't.
- 31:04Remember I just heard that nugget and thought that was an.
- 31:07Interesting that was in the Bears, was it?
- 31:092006, yeah. I don't know if it was the 2007
- 31:12Super Bowl or the 2007 season, but yeah, just heard that little
- 31:15nugget. Found that one interesting.
- 31:16So why do you like the Patriots? What?
- 31:18Defence, I don't, I think. Seahuks defence is better isn't
- 31:21it? It might be and Sam Darnold.
- 31:24I'm going to dig in my heels one final time.
- 31:26I'm going to go one final time. The trach bait injury, shoulder
- 31:31injury. How bad is it?
- 31:32I don't know. I don't think it's that big of a
- 31:34deal. I don't think so either.
- 31:36When you go back and you look at that throw that he made in the
- 31:38one touchdown like that's a rope and that's it's a velocity on
- 31:42that thing. So but.
- 31:43That was prior to the injury, wasn't it?
- 31:45Wasn't the injury late in the football?
- 31:46Game. Yeah, that's true.
- 31:47Yeah, Fairpoint, Yeah, because you're yes, I forgot about that
- 31:50opponent. I guess that takes that one
- 31:52away. I think he's going to be fine.
- 31:54I do too. I'm not, I'm not even factoring
- 31:56that into my thought on the football game.
- 31:59I just, I just, I've been like, I've been on Seattle since
- 32:02November. I can't get off of him now.
- 32:04I, I don't, I didn't, wasn't going to pick whoever came out
- 32:06of the AFC 'cause I think the NFC just had better teams.
- 32:12How do you, how do you, I guess it's Sam Tarle, right?
- 32:15Sam is going to be your answer. It's going to be your answer.
- 32:18Who for New England is going to have?
- 32:21I'm all over Trayvon Henderson. I guess I should just put it
- 32:23that way. Big game over under reception is
- 32:271/2. Just needs a if he.
- 32:29Catches the football that that props that prop cashes.
- 32:33If he catches the football and it's more than 2 1/2 yards that
- 32:36prop cashes. And these are coming from Circa.
- 32:40That's. Pretty good one to put your back
- 32:42on I. Mean, I know they love Stevenson
- 32:43and and Henderson did not get much run whatsoever against
- 32:47Denver in the AFC Championship. Denver's got a really good
- 32:50defense. They had a backup quarterback.
- 32:51Yeah, I I'm not getting off Seattle.
- 32:55I am not getting off Seattle. Is there anything Cooper Cup
- 32:58related that? You know what?
- 32:59I think he's going to have a good day.
- 33:01I really do too. You know what other one I was
- 33:03looking at was Sovereign the Draker.
- 33:05Yeah. He's 52 to one to catch an
- 33:08anytime touchdown. OK.
- 33:09Didn't he catch a touchdown late in the year?
- 33:11I know he did. I know he caught a touchdown
- 33:13late in the year. That's a fun one, The local
- 33:15angle. It's the reason that I jumped on
- 33:17Cooper to Jean last year and had that pick 6.
- 33:19Got a pretty good score on that one.
- 33:21So yeah, I'm probably going to jump aboard with you.
- 33:23Fire away at that 152 to one for an anytime touchdown.
- 33:27Yes, love the local connection. Throw a couple bucks on that.
- 33:30And as we have our Super Bowl party every year, I'm always
- 33:32trying to diversify. All right, we got circus
- 33:34squares. We have squares.
- 33:36We don't have them actually trademarked or anything like
- 33:38that. You know, I talked to my son
- 33:40yesterday and I think he's talking about school.
- 33:42He says that more people show up and bet every single one of them
- 33:45that are hosting Super Bowl parties.
- 33:47Oh really? So you put them in a hat and all
- 33:49your guests get to draw one out. Maybe that's something that I
- 33:52could do to change things up this year.
- 33:54Another different kind of game. Have you ever been to a baseball
- 33:58game and play the Pass the Hat game where we got a?
- 34:00Group of buddies, I have you. Throw in a couple bucks at the
- 34:03beginning, guy gets a hit, you get to take some money out, Guy
- 34:06hits a home run, you get the pot.
- 34:07So I've done something like that with football and started it
- 34:10last year where everybody throws in say 5 bucks at the beginning
- 34:13and then pass the hat around each possession.
- 34:16Get a first down, take a buck out, turn it over, you got to
- 34:19pay 5 bucks in, get a touchdown, you get 10 bucks out.
- 34:22You know, something like that. Trying to figure exactly the
- 34:24right parameters for it. But it was a fun way to help
- 34:27everybody, yes, even our wives engaged in the game.
- 34:30Because when you're holding the hat at that time, you know you
- 34:33got a chance to get the score here and get some money out of
- 34:35it. So a different way of playing
- 34:36the hat game, Passing the hat. And I think the prop mark is
- 34:39keep you more engaged as well, right?
- 34:41I mean, if you don't like New England, and in my case, I'm got
- 34:43Henderson, I'm going to watch every single possession closer
- 34:45when he's on the field. We'll see where it goes, but I'm
- 34:49not getting off. I'm sticking with the Seattle.
- 34:51And that's my story. All right, Derek Stevens, he's
- 34:54in Phoenix and we hope to hear from him.
- 34:57He said he was going to call in, so we'll cross our fingers and
- 35:00hope that happens. If it doesn't, maybe later on in
- 35:02the week, we will reschedule him to get the latest from Circa
- 35:08where they will be packed and Vegas will be packed.
- 35:10It is, I think for my, if you can't go to the game and you
- 35:13want to go somewhere and watch it, it's, I mean, it's, it's
- 35:16clear cut #2 right. Yes, yeah, it's clear cut.
- 35:19It's it's so much fun. Have you done the Super Bowl?
- 35:22Like sitting in the book, the whole game, all that stuff.
- 35:24I've had two opportunities. I did that and then one year I
- 35:27actually got to go in the backroom with the company I work
- 35:30for. We had, you know, a bunch of
- 35:31properties on the strip and we were headquartered out of the M
- 35:35and I got to go back into the the think tank that into the
- 35:38brains of it. And this is when in game betting
- 35:41was first, you know, starting to to become more popular.
- 35:44It's just wild. Yeah, just absolutely wild.
- 35:47And the approvals and the shouting back and forth
- 35:50somebody's got. And it was your Bears.
- 35:52It was the Bears and the Colts. Right.
- 35:54OK, yes. Bears, Colts game.
- 35:55That was the Super Bowl that I got.
- 35:57In the rain in Miami, it was with Prince.
- 35:59Yep, it was. On the Super Bowl show.
- 36:02Super Bowl show is getting a lot of headlines this year, isn't?
- 36:04It Oh my. That's politics we're going to
- 36:06stay away from. That yeah, I guess some.
- 36:08People are that upset though. I've never heard of him.
- 36:10Bad Buddy. Yeah, I've never heard of him.
- 36:12He is the most downloaded artist in the world.
- 36:15More so than Taylor Swift? Yep.
- 36:17Worldwide. Worldwide.
- 36:18Worldwide. Yeah.
- 36:19And he's is he a rapper? No, just he a musician.
- 36:24I mean, yeah, more not rapping. No, it's more it's like I, I,
- 36:30what would you call it? Caribbean, you know, that kind
- 36:32of music, something like that. He's hosted SNLA couple of
- 36:35times. I still watch SNL every week so
- 36:37saw him out there. English is not his first
- 36:39language. He won.
- 36:41Either some days. He won the Grammy Award, as we
- 36:43talked about yesterday, for album of the year.
- 36:47We'll see. I don't know his music, but I'm
- 36:49going to watch. Well, I let me know how it is
- 36:52because. What are you going to be?
- 36:53Doing taking Jet for a piss. That's what happens at that
- 36:56time, huh? Is that every year?
- 36:58I mean, is there anybody? I've got them.
- 37:00Is there any more any acts that would say Nope, sorry Jet?
- 37:03No, no. Stones are up there well.
- 37:08Go pee on the floor. No, I yeah, that would be the
- 37:11one. That'd be the one.
- 37:12They did the Super Bowl one year.
- 37:14So I just saw something that came up on Twitter.
- 37:16The first Super Bowl I went to was Super Bowl 31 in New
- 37:20Orleans. It was Green Bay and it was New
- 37:22England and it was Brett Favre's only Super Bowl, and I did not
- 37:26remember the halftime show. OK, I remember that James Brown
- 37:29was a part of it, and I'm not a big as James Brown.
- 37:32Fan You're that Jimmy B? Right.
- 37:34I'd totally forgotten and I and I racked my brain trying to
- 37:37remember that the Blues Brothers were part of there were three
- 37:41acts during the Super Bowl. All right.
- 37:43James Brown, The Blues Brothers and ZZ Top.
- 37:48Wow. And I don't remember this.
- 37:50Well, you were probably all getting a beer.
- 37:52I must have been something because I don't remember the
- 37:54halftime show. I remember Springsteen.
- 37:57He was at 43 when we were in Phoenix, and then he was.
- 38:01And then I remember the boss No 43 was Tampa.
- 38:06That was Springsteen anyways. All right, good stuff.
- 38:10I think Derek Stevens is calling in.
- 38:11We'll get to him and only have him for a couple of minutes as
- 38:13we're running quickly out of hours.
- 38:15So maybe we can try and reschedule this for later in the
- 38:18week because I don't think we can do a 2 minute interview with
- 38:22the owner of Circa and the D and Golden Gate.
- 38:27But we'll see what we can do in effort to move him around.
- 38:30We do know for sure that coming up in hour number two, we're
- 38:34going to talk. Rob Doster Field is 68.
- 38:36All right, for a couple of minutes.
- 38:37Let's get Derek Stevens in here. He's the owner of Circuit Derek
- 38:40Trenton. Ken, thank you for coming on.
- 38:41Derek Stevens, how are you? Hey.
- 38:44I'm doing great starting for the here guys.
- 38:46I'm at Waste management open. The weather's 78°.
- 38:50We've had we've had worse troubles, but I'm very sorry I'm
- 38:53a little late to this call. No, no problem.
- 38:55We only got a couple of minutes before I have a hard stop.
- 38:57So let's just a couple of things for you.
- 38:59Obviously a Super Bowl week. Is this your favorite week of
- 39:02the year, Derek, or is there March Madness opening week?
- 39:05And what's your favorite week at Circa?
- 39:08You know, that's like, that's like it is your favorite.
- 39:11I like both of them. March Madness, I love the thing
- 39:14about this right now is you can, you can get circa squares, circa
- 39:18squares not only at the end of the end of the end of the game,
- 39:21but at the end of the second quarter.
- 39:22Third quarter, first quarter ads are unbelievable.
- 39:25Personally, I kind of like the three, three in the first in the
- 39:28first quarter. It's paying 8 to 1.
- 39:30It's paying at the end of the game.
- 39:34Circa Squares is a lot of fun for everybody, but even you're
- 39:36not a game, but it's a great. You love having posters, you got
- 39:40your poster of the NFL schedule. We see up there the Visa studio.
- 39:43You showed that off to me, I don't know, 4-5 years ago for
- 39:45the first time and, and love what you do as you're trying to
- 39:47map things out for obviously the great contest you guys have at
- 39:51Circa when it comes to the prop market that feels like that's a
- 39:53market that maybe is pushed towards the younger generation.
- 39:57Is that what you guys see a lot? Younger people, they like to
- 39:59play those different props anytime. 5 touchdown score, the
- 40:02different yardage props that are out there, do you guys see that
- 40:05in terms of their wagering market?
- 40:07No, I think this year in the Super Bowl, I do think that at
- 40:13circus sports we're seeing some unique prop batting.
- 40:17I, I would say some of the PAT prop bets are, are, are they're
- 40:20going to be very unique. You know, like we posted,
- 40:23circuit sports posted well, first touchdown be scored by
- 40:27someone with a jersey number over or under 10 1/2.
- 40:31The rest of the market went to 11 1/2.
- 40:33In normal times that wouldn't matter, but it means a lot this
- 40:37year because JSN is number 11. So so that's why we have, we
- 40:41have over under 10 1/2 and we're used to be over.
- 40:44So I, I think you're going to see a ton of prop betting on fun
- 40:47bets like that. And then obviously, you know, we
- 40:50take a lot of big wagers. I'm so glad we took our first
- 40:52$1,000,000 wager. I'm hoping we take a couple more
- 40:54at Circa Sports. Yeah, and anticipate that you
- 40:57will do Seattle is not a good result for you guys, Derek based
- 41:00on the futures market or have been able to get out from any of
- 41:03that liability. Yeah, you know it's funny great
- 41:06question. Yeah, we're all over Twitter
- 41:08about about the fact that we took a massive Seattle futures,
- 41:12but effectively with what's what's transpired here with the
- 41:15with the wages we took out on the Patriots circus ports as of
- 41:19this moment needs Seattle. Wow.
- 41:23It could change, it could change, but right now we need
- 41:26Seattle. That's wild.
- 41:27That absolutely is. Hey, final thing, we'll get you
- 41:29out and let you get back to the golf.
- 41:31Speaking of golf season, for a lot of people's kicking off this
- 41:34week with the Waste Management, what you guys do in terms of the
- 41:37odds. We talked about it, baseball
- 41:39season, golf season. If you're betting on golf, there
- 41:42is no better place to bet than at circus sports.
- 41:45Yeah, I feel very comfortable. I got to be careful about what I
- 41:47say from a, from a gaming violation perspective.
- 41:50But I do believe I do. Well, I do believe, I do
- 41:54believe, you know, if you're going to bet golf, you have to
- 41:56look at circuit sports odds because I think it's pretty fair
- 41:59to say like 6060 to 80% of the players are going to have better
- 42:03odds with, with, with, with where we're at.
- 42:05It's interesting. It's interesting.
- 42:06This particular weekend of Waste Management, I personally looked
- 42:10at about 8 different players and yeah, we had seven out of eight
- 42:14that were we're a little bit better.
- 42:16We're a little low on shuffler. We're a little low on shuffler.
- 42:18That's the only one. That's the only one that we're
- 42:20low on this weekend. 3/3 is your circus square prop.
- 42:24That's your, That's your play 33.
- 42:27It's an easy one. It's easy.
- 42:29It's a long shot though. Remember at the end of the game,
- 42:31because you never want to have the pair, the pairs, but but
- 42:34early on, you know, first quarter squares, it could be
- 42:37right there. Good stuff Derek.
- 42:38Enjoy the tournament. Thanks for coming on.
- 42:40Appreciate it. Thanks for everything you guys
- 42:42do for us for circus sports in Iowa.
- 42:44Good stuff. Yep.
- 42:45So thanks, Derek. Derek Stevens, owner, Circus
- 42:47sports. All right, in our number 2, Rob
- 42:50Doster will join us. We'll talk college hoops from a
- 42:52national perspective, head to Vegas and catch up with the guy
- 42:55who runs the South Point, our buddy Chris Andrews.
- 42:58That's Chris. South Point's going to be
- 43:00absolutely mobbed. Yes, each and every weekend.
- 43:02It's it's a locals book. It's on the tip of the spear,
- 43:06tip of the sphere, tip of the Strip is where you can find
- 43:10South Point if you go to the outlet malls and essentially
- 43:13right across the street. Our 2 is next.
- 43:15Miller in Condon coming right back.
