- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Is it OK to be tired? Is it OK to be worn out?
- 0:33Is it OK to be like at the end of your rope and just be like,
- 0:38I'm exhausted and I'm done and I just don't know what to do?
- 0:43And the answer is yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 0:46Those are all not just feelings. Those are signs of stopping and
- 0:51pausing and looking at what's going on around you and taking
- 0:54some, you know, quiet time to figure out, you know, what do I
- 0:58need to change? What do I need to do here to
- 1:01feel better about things? Because right now, if I'm tired,
- 1:04if I'm truly physically tired, then I need to sleep.
- 1:07Now, this is something that I personally have a struggle with
- 1:11because I can power through most things.
- 1:14Like that's just my nature. I can power through it.
- 1:17I've seen myself do it over and over and over and over and over
- 1:20throughout my life. And it was taught to me, you
- 1:23know, by my dad. It was definitely how my dad
- 1:25was. And I just, he was my person.
- 1:28So I learned from him, like I learned a lot from him.
- 1:32And I'm very grateful for that. At the same time, I realized
- 1:37when I'm tired, I just need to take a break.
- 1:40The other night full, you know a disclosure in this I went to bed
- 1:44at 7:00 because I was so exhausted.
- 1:47I was just so tired. I just wanted to get in bed and
- 1:50go to sleep and I did. I went to bed at 7:00 and I did
- 1:53not wake up until 5, which is super unusual for me because I
- 1:58usually sleep 7 hours and then I wake up and that's just like my
- 2:02sweet spot 7 hours. But this one was like Nope.
- 2:05I was completely exhausted and when I woke up, while my body
- 2:09felt much better, like I go, it was an exhausted mentally.
- 2:13I was exhausted. And I think it was just based on
- 2:16the fact that I had this very long stretch where I did not
- 2:19take extra time off. And I had been struggling
- 2:24throughout the end of the year figuring out branding and this
- 2:28and that and what I was doing next.
- 2:30And I was putting a ton of pressure on myself.
- 2:33According to my coach, he was informing me how much I was
- 2:36putting pressure on myself. And I was like, this is
- 2:39interesting because I don't put pressure on my clients.
- 2:43I read it, but yet myself I do something completely different
- 2:46with it. So sometimes though, these are
- 2:50messages to us, sometimes it's something simple like go to bed,
- 2:54which that was, but there's also more intricacy to it.
- 2:58There's also more like when you're mentally exhausted and
- 3:01you're feeling like you just need to take a break.
- 3:04Listen to it because if you keep trying to pull through, even if
- 3:09you take a 5 hour break from something, a 2 hour break from
- 3:13something, it gives you a window, it gives you in
- 3:16something. Now, I, I spend a lot of time
- 3:18talking about the value of walking because I walk all day
- 3:21long while I'm doing my sessions because it keeps me focused,
- 3:24keeps me healthy. I mean, there are so many
- 3:26benefits to it, but the here's the here's The funny thing.
- 3:30Walking has become conditioned to me to put me into a creative
- 3:34space. So just to go for a walk without
- 3:37having the the intention of coaching or being creative or
- 3:43thinking something through it doesn't shut my brain off
- 3:46anymore. Going for a walk does not shut
- 3:48my brain off. I've rewired it.
- 3:50What shuts my brain off is gardening.
- 3:53What shuts my brain off is art, painting, sorting through
- 3:56photos, doing something like that.
- 3:58That shuts my brain off. Those things totally different
- 4:03experience for me. So look at what you're you're
- 4:07trying to decompress from and say I really need to just shut
- 4:11my brain off. So how can you do that?
- 4:13The exhaustion is telling you take a damn break.
- 4:15Don't be a fool. Do something for a lot of my
- 4:19clients, men and women are all say like they'll say things
- 4:22like, oh, cooking, baking. I love doing that stuff.
- 4:25OK, great. Do it.
- 4:27Do something. I don't care.
- 4:29Like, oh, I, I don't have anybody to give it to go donate
- 4:32it. I'll tell you one of my favorite
- 4:33places to go in the spring when the chickens are laying more
- 4:35eggs than I know what to do with.
- 4:37I take them to the fire department.
- 4:38They love it. So take them food.
- 4:41They'll love it. I promise.
- 4:42They sit there all day long for the most part.
- 4:45Thank God they're not out, you know, handling emergencies
- 4:48non-stop. But guess what?
- 4:50They love it when you drop stuff off.
- 4:51So do it and and don't be afraid.
- 4:54Don't be afraid to share things. Don't be afraid to say, OK, you
- 4:59know what? I I really need to take this
- 5:01break. I need to share this time.
- 5:04And I'm just going to say it. I'm just going to say it to
- 5:06everybody. I need a break.
- 5:07Don't be afraid. Just do it.
- 5:09Just jump in and tell the truth because that helps you also
- 5:13recognize you need to do it. So when you don't recognize that
- 5:16you need to do it, you torture yourself.
- 5:18So stop it. Be kind, take the break.
- 5:21I know this weekend I am taking the break.
- 5:24I am doing the things that I need to do.
- 5:26I've put the tree up and that was, I didn't spend any time
- 5:29yesterday doing anything except putting up my tree and
- 5:32decorating the inside of the house.
- 5:35And now I'm like, OK, I can today I've got two days, I've
- 5:40got Saturday and Sunday where I can relax and feel like I can
- 5:44compose myself and put myself back together.
- 5:46And that's what I have all the intention of doing.
- 5:48So I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will see you
- 5:52tomorrow. Bye.
