- 0:15Speaker 1: thank you guys for joining us every day. And Steve,
- 0:19Speaker 1: you have some clothes?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Junior had asked me at the top
- 0:22Speaker 2: of the show, Junior, do you remember your question at
- 0:25Speaker 2: the top of the show exactly how you asked it?
- 0:28Speaker 3: Do you ever get tired of being the chosen.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Do I ever get tired of being the chosen one?
- 0:36Speaker 3: You know, that's ah.
- 0:40Speaker 2: A question that a lot of people have to grapple
- 0:42Speaker 2: with because the chosen one doesn't.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Mean you're famous or well off. There's nothing to do
- 0:51Speaker 3: with that. It is the position that you've been elevated to.
- 0:58Speaker 2: That has you as the one that people call upon,
- 1:05Speaker 2: that people rely on, that people depend on. Are you're
- 1:10Speaker 2: the fixer in your family. You're usually the first one
- 1:14Speaker 2: to ever make it out. You're the first one to
- 1:17Speaker 2: gain position down at the company. You're the first person
- 1:21Speaker 2: with the title, the first person with the college degree,
- 1:25Speaker 2: the first person to become successful, the first one in
- 1:27Speaker 2: your family to open a business. Once you have separated
- 1:32Speaker 2: yourself from what's called the norm, there are some people
- 1:38Speaker 2: who will consider you different and special, and you are
- 1:44Speaker 2: you are, And because of this, you become the target
- 1:51Speaker 2: for everybody's wants needs. You know, all of a sudden,
- 1:55Speaker 2: you become an expert on advice. All of a sudden,
- 1:59Speaker 2: you become the go to person for answers, You become
- 2:04Speaker 2: the go to person for money, You become the go
- 2:08Speaker 2: to person to problem solve You just get that Monika,
- 2:11Speaker 2: you get tagged with it, and you become the chosen one.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Now there are levels to it, of course, but you
- 2:20Speaker 2: are it.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Now.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Once you are it, you have to understand something. What
- 2:26Speaker 2: makes me grateful about being the chosen one is that
- 2:30Speaker 2: I have discovered something in my life. The Bible says
- 2:34Speaker 2: that he will make you the lender and not the borrower.
- 2:39Speaker 2: That's one of the promises of God. Now you think
- 2:42Speaker 2: about that for a second. With all the times you
- 2:45Speaker 2: get tired of people coming to you for money, ain't
- 2:47Speaker 2: you glad you ain't the one that's got to go
- 2:49Speaker 2: to somebody for money. I would rather be the lender
- 2:53Speaker 2: than the borrower. I would rather be the person who
- 2:57Speaker 2: helps people with their problems than the one that's always
- 3:00Speaker 2: got a problem, because in being the chosen one, you've
- 3:04Speaker 2: obviously learned how the problem solved quite well. You've handled
- 3:07Speaker 2: conflict resolution quite well. You have managed to become a
- 3:13Speaker 2: person who knows how to perform under pressure. You are
- 3:18Speaker 2: a person who is prone to action as opposed to reaction.
- 3:25Speaker 3: So you're the chosen one. Do I get tired of
- 3:28Speaker 3: being the chosen one?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Absolutely? But here's a problem with being the chosen one, y'all.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You don't get to not be the chosen one. You know,
- 3:38Speaker 2: you don't get to give it back. Heavy is the
- 3:41Speaker 2: head that wears a crown. You don't get to take
- 3:43Speaker 2: the crown off. You just don't get to. It's a practice.
- 3:48Speaker 2: But it's what you worked for, it's what you've earned,
- 3:51Speaker 2: it's what you've deserved to be in your life. So
- 3:55Speaker 2: get your head up, put your knuckles in, your lower back,
- 4:00Speaker 2: being your knees, brace up, and deal with it because
- 4:04Speaker 2: it is what it is and it's not going to change,
- 4:09Speaker 2: And for it to change, you would have to no
- 4:13Speaker 2: longer be you now. Are you willing to give up that?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Are you willing to give back all the blessings God
- 4:20Speaker 2: has given you all the means, all the opportunities, all
- 4:27Speaker 2: the grace and favor, and the answer to that is no.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So where you're crown proudly you are the chosen one,
- 4:37Speaker 2: and deal with it.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Is it hard? Yes? But guess what's also hard?
- 4:41Speaker 2: It's also hard not being the chosen one.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I would rather be extraordinary than ordinary. That's just me.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Now. There's nothing wrong with being ordinary. Please don't get
- 4:53Speaker 2: me wrong. I know some beautiful ordinary people. Some of
- 4:58Speaker 2: my best friends are what's called ordinary people. But that
- 5:03Speaker 2: ain't my path. That ain't my walk. My walk was
- 5:08Speaker 2: different and yours is different. Now are no people who
- 5:11Speaker 2: have the exact same footprints in the sand. You can
- 5:14Speaker 2: try to replicate somebody's footsteps, but I got news for you.
- 5:18Speaker 2: That ain't your path. And stop looking at somebody else
- 5:23Speaker 2: wanting that for you, because that ain't what it is.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Do you know something. Comparison is the greatest thief of joy.
- 5:31Speaker 2: If you want to feel not joyful, start comparing yourself.
- 5:37Speaker 2: If I looked at how much money Magic Johnson made
- 5:40Speaker 2: versus what I make, I could go somewhere and get
- 5:43Speaker 2: sad about that. Or Tyler Perry made versus what I mean,
- 5:46Speaker 2: I could go geinst that Robert Smith makes more than me.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I could go geinst that I can't tell how many
- 5:51Speaker 2: people make more than me. I could go somewhere and
- 5:53Speaker 2: get sad, but I'm not. This is my walk, this
- 5:57Speaker 2: is my path. It's okay, am, and you got to
- 6:02Speaker 2: be okay with where you are. Stop comparing yourself to
- 6:05Speaker 2: other people again. Comparison is the greatest thief of joy.
- 6:11Speaker 2: If you want to make yourself feel bad today, start
- 6:14Speaker 2: comparing yourself to everybody that's got more you. You finna
- 6:18Speaker 2: have a bad day. Gratitude affects your attitude, which is
- 6:24Speaker 2: in direct correlation with your altitude.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Remember that it's okay to be the chosen.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's okay you do just find that you can't be
- 6:34Speaker 2: nothing else and you don't get to give it pack.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Y'all have a great day today. Talk to God. He
- 6:38Speaker 3: would absolutely love to hear from y'all. Stay in peace.
