- TMC Leatherface: You tr you drive around in the white van. Free aperture lighting. Slide the door open. Actually there's aperture. You just kidnap a bunch of gaffers and fucking Whose music is that? Someone outside. They're playing Drake. That's not me, but someone outside is playing. That's kinda weird 'cause we're just talking about the The the film, the film, the film, film gear, film gear. That that's how you get branded. You just put free C Rue lenses on the side and he's he's getting in that van no matter what. Hell yeah. Yes, yes. They're on sale. They're on sale right now. But I guess I don't need that right now because I got the fifteen to thirty-five. You got the better lens. That was a finally you make a smart decision. I'm proud of you. And and he gave me four a nice discount. He gave me a nice discount because sold it for 1400. That was a very good deal. I will give you that. 1400 and he gave me variable ND filter at five stops. For what lens again? I got the fifteen and thirty-five RF two point eight usually it retails for about like twenty eight hundred online. Yeah, it's I told I told you that's that's that was the smartest way bet way smarter than the EVF. Yeah. That was a good pickup. 'Cause now essentially you throw that on your C seventy, you have basically two twenty four to seventies. Running at the you could run them at the same time. I mean the compression will be a little different, but Yeah. You know, it it's fine. You can work around that. Mm most people not gonna be able to tell like the small differences with like the you know yeah quality. Yeah, it was a it was definitely a a good move. Especially at that price too. That's kind of I'm not gonna say crackhead prices, but it was That's a good fucking price. A hundred dollars right now. Yo, shout out to my man Tim Flores. We gotta get him on the the the podcast. He he's anticipating the review of Project Hail Mary because he loved that movie and I told him I hated it. So he's like waiting to hear why I didn't like it. He's a smart man. Still can't believe you didn't like it, but whatever. So but you know what movie I didn't like? timeout. Timeout timeout. Welcome to the Revisitation Rice Podcast. I'm Pat. Brandon. I'm Justin. We shouldn't have been talking about a rape van to start. That's kind of Yeah, so quick backstory. It's a little weird for this movie, especially what happened in this movie. So Yeah. It's kind of fit. It's kinda kinda fitting. Yeah. But it was about basic it it was a our joke was basically writing free film gear. So we you know, so you just find just free PAs and gaffers and stuff. Hey man, film gear is expensive. That was a joke. Free external hard drive on the van, you'll get a line of people fucking coming up to that shit. Free free SSD. That that I might get in the van for. I might get in the van for a nice four eight terabyte SSD. Free four terabyte Samsung SSD. I might I might get in the van for You check you check how much they're running for, be like, this price is worth the risk. I don't know. Eight I don't have to eight I don't have to think about. I'm going right in. But four or four I might have to I might have to peek inside first before I get in there. Cause four I could still get away with charging. What are these knives doing here? I think I can get away with charging a client for a four. An eight I can't. So Eight, they're gonna look at me like I'm fucking crazy. But anyway, today we're doing charging thousands. What the fuck are we doing? leather shit. Leatherface. Leatherface. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I just I would just like to go on the record to tell Brandon he can go fuck himself for picking Texas Chains on Massacre. I did not realize how bad these films actually were. And I'm gonna be honest, this between this one and the remake in twenty twenty two. They make Leather Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 look like a fucking masterpiece. And I hated two. And Leatherface makes that look like a fucking a masterpiece compared to it. I I'm gonna I'm gonna start this because I don't see one fucking redeemable thing about this movie. Why they would start in like a boys home. I I don't even know if that was supposed to be Leatherface. You never even really It was a Switch. Which kind of confused me when I rewatched it. Like you don't know who's who, like it's it what it was fucking dumb from start to finish. Everybody got shot and everybody still lived. They're walking this guy got shot, he's walking around just willy nilly. Like then they're fucking on the truck. They start fucking on a dead body. Yeah. Yo, that is wild, bro. And she kissed the dead body. I'm like, listen, I d tongue kissed them. I d I don't judge. Whatever, whatever, whatever. I don't judge each other. Whatever tickles your pickle. I'm o I'm okay with it. Nah, I judge. That's fucking wild, bro. Sex positive on this podcast. I don't know about that. Crazy, bro. That might get a little bit of judgment. I judge with that. That might get a little bit of judgment. You're into that. You're fucking wild, dude. Therapy. There's a lot of avenues for therapy. Those people can't afford therapy. The guy didn't even call a timeout. Alternatives. At some point, if you guys fucking are on the dead body, you gotta call a timeout. Like, hey, hey, hey, hey. He was there. We're gonna do this. Yeah, you know that you can't be tongue kissing. You can't be tongue in the fucking dead body. You know, that's just like timeout, bro. What is going on, dude? Stop at that point you gotta call timeout right now. Stop right now. Cut. Cut. Cut. Who wrote this? Who wrote who wrote in the Who wrote and directed this, Brandon? Fucking freaky frog. the person who And then they have sex on dead bodies. There's there's two directors. Alexander Bustilio and Julian Mori. And I actually looked at what they what else they did. I I couldn't find anything else that was like formidable that they did after or before this movie. And screenplay was by Seth Sherwood, which there's not even a wiki. So that's all you kind of need to know. Freaking frog. Freaky frog, bro. They're French. If that makes it Anything. No. Fuck man. I Why would you trust these people with an origin story? Like you read that script and you're like cool. French people? No, these the people who made it. Like you read that script and were like okay, yeah, I really want to make this. What possess what would be they made it specifically bad on purpose because they don't like Americans and they're like, yo, let's let's let's let's make one of their like staple heart characters absolutely. But then you say you wanna shit. directors to be separate from writers that sometimes that when they do it together it's a catastrophe and no no no I'm I'm good with the directors and not writers. I'm good with writers I'm good with director writers directing and directors writing. I'm not good with them editing. I d I don't think somebody should do all three. I I don't even like when I have to DP my own stuff. I would rather somebody else do it. Like you you need those separate MIs in there. How what was the budget? Unless you're I don't see a budget. Box office was one point five million though. That's one point five million dollars worth of pissed off people that saw this movie. And there was no budget listed? Budget was seven hundred and fifty thousand, so hey. Damn, that was close. I was gonna say I was gonna say like eight hundred I thought it was gonna be like eight hundred thousand. So Battle of the Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollar movies, I think I as much as I didn't like it, I would take obsession over this. Ten times over. This was a miserable fucking watch. I don't I don't remember this coming out, but I do remember watching this on sci-fi back when sci-fi used to have horror movies. Was it? I think I saw it. It was like a I don't think it was a sci-fi p specific, but I think it like premiered. Remember when they used to have like that 9 p.m. slot and they would have like new movies if the when they would have like marathons all day? I remember them doing it. There and I watched it. And the only thing I remember before I rewatched this was the girl getting her head, you know, whacked off. That's the only thing I remember. I I honestly I was like, why am I watching this, bro? Like, why, bro? I I I was like, bro, I could be learning a new skate trick right now. Regressing myself. Here I am. Wasting my life. There's one scene. There's one part where I guess the mother face trash. I guess all the people in the Saint Asylum kind of break out and it it's just like havoc. That kind of reminds me of you've seen the nineteen ninety nine version of House on the Haunted Hill. Bits and pieces. I don't know. It kinda it kinda gave me that vibe a little bit. I remember when I was with with Tay Diggs, let me see. But yeah, that really kinda reminded me of that 'cause in that there's like a in the beginning of it, before they go back to the house, they're doing like these crazy experiments on their patients and then they just run ramp shit in there and start killing everyone. And it kind of reminded me of that a little bit. So I I wanted to give the film like Props for starting in the thir I think it started in the thirties, or forties, something like that. Right? It started early, early. This is a period piece. And It just didn't feel like a period piece either. Like I did I didn't get the look of a period piece. I didn't I didn't really get what I was looking for from a nineteen thirties supposedly nineteen thirties horror movie. Nineteen fifty five. Nineteen fifty five. Damn. I use a little fucking film green. Something. She was shot on on the fucking on the Use a little desaturation. Use a four by three aspect ratio. Do something that makes it feel like 1955. More sharpness. Don't just more sharpness. Now don't just use wardrobe and cars. Like that's I I I don't know. I I I would have definitely at least tried something different. the story didn't really there was really nothing to it. I didn't like the boys' home, group home, whatever you want to call it, Mental Institute. I thought that was a stupid addition to it. I didn't like the mo I mean I l I usually like the mo the woman who plays the mom because you know when she's in a horror movie it's gonna be some shit. And this just didn't like land. It was the Steven Dorf was in it, I believe. yes. they shot it on the Ari Alexa. And this is also shot in Bulgaria, of all places. Shot in Bulgaria. What? So I'm I'm looking at I'm I'm looking up some of the details really quick quickly. Was it pretty shoot there or something? Probably shoot there. I guess they had the rights. They lost it. This was a film was made exclusive via direct T V. Direct T V exclusive. I'm gonna be seventeen. This is the first time I ever heard of a direct TV original. I didn't know they made like Direct TV. Direct Town the game, bro. So I do remember I think it was like season four or five of Friday Night Lights. They acquired the rights from NBC. So they finished it off when Michael B. Jordan, Journey Spillett got on there. So I meant that's not the first time that they've taken over a property and tried to distribute it before. Was Friday Night Lights better or worse after they took over? I mean it held up, but I think after that they only had like two more seasons, and it was kind of time to wrap up because they kind of stretched it out a little too too thin. a little too long. And they kind of have revolving characters from high school in season one and like season four. So I I wouldn't I mean they graduate, right? So you can't they do, but then there's also like weird stuff happening. The dude has graduated and he's making out with the girl who's in high school. Yeah, we're not doing that. But Kyle Chandler is still a great actor in that show and Connie Britton. Amazing. What grassy is going on, man? Yeah. Which is but that's also reality. That's a reality because looking back now, people can definitely testify to seeing some stuff that didn't seem or feel right in grade school that now you look at it like, that's probably not right. Would you You come straight home from from from school? I'm be honest, there's not much to talk about with Leatherface. Would you say that Friday Night Lights is Kyle Chandler's best series? Sor sorry, Leatherface. 'cause I watched I didn't see it. I would have to watch all of his stuff because I've heard that he's been a phenomenal actor forever, but he's phenomenal in that show. I mean, we we sent that in the group chat Friday nights was in the I think top ten of that century for best TV shows. Although season two was during the the writer strike and it very much did suffer. But I mean that cast was amazing. They for the most part, a lot of them did go on to do great things after that show. So like From what I've seen of him, my favorite is Bloodline. As bad as they fucked up. I do remember Bloodline. As bad as they fucked up the second half of season three. But that was because of the Florida tax credits. So they they were in the middle of filming season three and Florida pulled the tax credits. So they didn't have enough money to finish. So they had to like piecemeal a fine a finale. But with him, Ben Mendelssohn and I think Sissy Spacich was in it. Linda Cartellini was in it. Great fucking show. Crystal Lake. Great show. Yeah. I mean, she she played Kyle Chandler's like younger sister, I believe. Then Mr. Yeah. And Ben Mendelssohn played like the fuck up brother, who's he's a great actor too. It's a shame he signed on with Marvel also. Because they're tuck they're sucking his talent. pause. So Yeah, he played in that other stupid show that they did with Samuel Jackson. And then he also did the Godzillas. Yeah. But he's I I like I think he's a great actor. He is he has a ton of range. So underrated. So underrated as an actor. He's got a ton of range. Kyle Challenger. Good in everything. Shout out to you, man. And he was also good in lanterns. I I I haven't watched that. I don't I know. It's very grounded. It's like a it's like a cop mystery type show. It's not really heavy with Green Lantern lore and that's in in reference to origins. They're trying to they're trying to solve a mystery. Like that's pretty much what the show is. See, I heard I didn't hear any in between reviews, so I can't trust it. So I hear either really good things or really bad things. So I haven't heard very many in betweens. So if it's only really good or really bad, that means it's separated by groups. So I'm already tapped out. But you like penguin, didn't you? Yeah, I like Penguin, but there was a consensus that Penguin was good. But I also watched it as it was happening, so I I didn't fall victim to the consensus. I also know why you like it too, because it's like Mafia, Italian crime fighting, that type of thing. So now I'm I'm locked in. Martin Scorsese of DC. I'm in there. No, I I liked it 'cause it was darker. I like darker material. See? This is dark too. This is pretty dark. The first episode just kicks off and then we're just trying to figure out like what's going on. That's how Penguin should have been talking. So I did. I watched he should have. He should have talked like he used to. I watched the first episode of Lanterns and it didn't it didn't catch me. So I thought it was gonna be like I thought it was gonna be like Mayor of Kingstown. So I don't know if you ever saw Mayor of Kingstown. So I'm not a I'm not a big fan of Jeremy Renner. Like he's he's a good actor. Just he's not gonna be the reason why I want to watch something. But I saw Kyle Chandler was in it. Kyle Chandler's a reason why I would watch something. He still they kill him off in the first episode. He got three seconds left. And I seen well, that that was the point of the show. You know, later on in the in the last seasons, you find out like Jeremy Renner takes over his brother's role and Kyle Chandler was his brother. So that was the point of the show going forward. But tell me that. I didn't want to, you know, lock into it and never see him come back. Like I thought we were gonna get flashbacks of him in there. So I watched the first season. And then I was just like, nah, he's not in there. And I at watching the first episode of Lanterns, it ends with him with a bullet in his head. I'm like. This is the same fucking thing as Mary Kingstown, 'cause it ended with him getting shot in the first He's in the entire season. So I was like, Nope, I'm done. I cut it off. He's an entire season. He's in the entire season on this one. So that that that's I mean it it also didn't grab me. Season. I I don't know I don't know anything about Green Lantern. So I d I watched the one with Ryan Reynolds and I shut it off halfway through. So that's about as much as I know of Green Lantern. The Yeah, that that's the only one I've seen too is with Ryan Reynolds. The funniest part was the interrogation when he's talking to the guy, he's like asked him about, hey, like, you know, you drove all the way here for a football game, he says something like, what do you think about Obama? And he's like, Yeah, you know, there's just some controversy around his birth certificate. I'm like, you're telling me a guy in Nebraska in twenty sixteen, that's all you have to say? He's a fucking alien. Poor bro, bro. Bro's an alien, bro. He's a freaking alien, bro. Trust me, man. I know I know this, bro. Trust me, bro. So all right, we'll get back onto Leatherface quickly. any positives to it? No. So I mean my scorecard, when you see my scorecard on Instagram, don't fucking message me about it. It is what it is. I I will defend my scorecard, but I don't even think I gave it a one. I think I gave it below a one. I I did not find a redeemable piece to this to this film. The only thing I can say is watch. Shout out to the crew who made the film. Not the writers, not the directors. Acting wasn't good. Like none of it was good. But shout out to the crew that had to sit there and watch and know right off the bat we're making some bullshit. Shout out to them because it happened to me. I'd have been having a time in my life. I'm in Bulgaria. What? Simon. Maybe if you were making a good show, it would feel better. It would feel better. But when you're when you're stuck, no. No, no, no. Like I I again I'm not gonna put these people I'm not putting these people on blast, but having to sit there. I was really confused this I mean of course you were because none of it made fucking sense. Because rewatching this, I I I thought that the the you know, the more heavier set person like they kind of alluded that that would have been Leatherface and then he wasn't. Mm-hmm. So then it kind of doesn't make any sense because if it if this is a continuation of the first one and then the mix of the last one. He's too small. Like his his frame doesn't fit the other one. No. Yeah, he sees Leatherface was Leatherface was the g w remember Leatherface was the gentleman that was protecting the nurse who they kidnapped. Yeah, yeah, but I'm saying we thought it was the fact at first. So yeah. That would have made more sense. Yeah, that fits with Leatherface. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry, you're a large child or whatever you call it. Well rounded person. A person who enjoys a person who enjoys eating. A snacker too. At a surplus. At a surplus. I have seen the the main actress, the Lily Taylor. She is she I'm telling you, she's been in some movies. She's good. She's every time she's in a horror movie, it's usually decent. 'Cause you she has that like real horror movie look to her. Like you know something's about to go down when she's on screen. So she has a sh she has a very good screen presence. Yeah, her freaking filmography is insane. Long, right? It's gotta be real long. Very And then the the nurse. Justin, this is your first time watching this? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah where would you I don't remember yeah where would you put it first I've seen so this will be eight. So we've done eight out of the nine. Where would you put it in the eight of the nine? Last? By how much though? Like last by like clearly last or a debatable last? Clearly last. Because I still like the Netflix one better than this. Well we didn't get to that one yet, so sh Eve yeah, cause even even 3D like it had like that funny line. The one line made the movie. And Trey saw it. So like that movie wasn't good, but it was not not as good. Like this one, yeah, this one's by far the worst. Yeah. All right, so I gotta I gotta squeeze some kind of positive out of it from you guys. G gib give me a positive. Just force it out if you have to. there was a there was a chainsaw. There was a guy that was dangerous. Are you into cars? Did you like the older cars in the film at least? The cars were cool. I like old cars. Old cars. I like old cars too. Yeah, so. Shout out shout out Bulgaria. Shout out the gaffers. The gaffers did a great job. I was not on set, but I know they did a great job. Umce anymore. I feel it's struggling from you. He's he's Shout out I know that I know the PAs did amazing. this is this is beyond you guys, man. Brandon. Storywise, it still felt that they were kind of on that same theme that they had in three D where he's a he's being manipulated. Because they he felt bad that they kidnapped the nurse. And you like that aspect of it? He you asked me for something. I'm just saying, like you you like that aspect of the story? Like where he's I think it it it shows I think it I think it shows that he's kinda human, like it it humanizes him a little bit more than just someone with a chainsaw and you kinda see what happens and then I mean I don't think that he should have killed the the girl. I would have ran off with her. But then you still see that the family's pulling the strings 'cause it's the mom, it's the you know Cousins, everyone that's on the the farmhouse are doing all this crazy stuff and he's just kind of there. And he's just kind of put in a bad situation in this story because he gets taken away because the sheriff's daughter gets killed, which man, it's brutal death. It was fucked up. She didn't she didn't deserve to go out like that. But they all kinda knew what they were doing over there at the farm, so like why are you even Don't walk up on like that. I thought the diner scene was a little over the top though. That's I was just about to ask about the dino scene. That's when what's his name got shot? And he just walks out like nothing happened. The I forget the names in the movie because I don't even remember the names, bro. Yeah, yeah. It's L movie. You gotta You gotta create some type of distraction if you're not gonna pay for the food. Yeah, it's true. But I mean back then you probably could have just walked out and nobody would have I hope the food on set was good. I hope they enjoyed the set. It was Bulgaria, I don't know. I don't know what kind of What is Bulgarian? What we're eating. I'm trying, man. Yeah, I'm sure it is a whole lot cleaner. Try and think what what try what kind of food do they have? Fresh vegetables, slow cooked clay, pot stews, rich dairy products. I don't grilled meats. I don't do super salad salad. S salata. Cucumber. Diced tomatoes, roasted peppers. Yeah, it looks good. I can get down with that. I'm a roasted peppers kind of guy. I I need a I need a dead cow. Ooh. They got those in Bulgaria. shit, man. We should have kept this, now I'm thinking about it. Damn, we should have kept this for whenever they released a new one with Curry Barker, 'cause they're gonna have another one. So it's like yet bruh You know, you two are like, This is such a awful franchise, but they're still getting movies made even in twenty twenty six. I can imagine like whatever it's money. That's all it is. But we we've we've had more of these movies and I just I just see people the the the big wigs up top getting the getting the script on their desk. So like another one bro. Like another leather face. Another one, man? I I think it's to the point where they have to have a gimmick. They can't just make a leatherface movie. I I think it needs to have a gimmick of some sorts for it to even get close to a green light. And I I think getting the the young director of the hottest low budget movie of the year is a gimmick. So even if he likes the franchise and 'cause everybody that took on the franchise likes the franchise. They swear they could do it justice, they do. So I don't I don't see him doing any better than any of the other leather Texas Chainsville Massacre movies. but I don't know. I I won't see it. Like I I have no desire to see any more Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. All right. So I you know, question, Pat. You're they they give you the opportunity to write another Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What are you gonna do with it? No, I'm not gonna do anything with it. I don't like the phrase. They're cutting you a check. So you're saying you're gonna turn that down if they're gonna cut you a check, that will help me, Justin, Chris Will everyone. You're saying no, I'm not gonna do that? Is that what you're saying on this podcast right now? He's gonna write a five room of him just chopping himself to death. He's like, I'm just a playing in my you're playing into my weakness because I I do shit to get you guys paid and that I don't wanna do. So that's not fair. What if what what if what have you done that that you didn't wanna do that? We all know I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say it on you. That might be only one. That's probably only one, right? No, no. I think no. Well with with all four or five of you, yeah. With all four of you, yeah. But I I've done with some with them to get them paid that I did not want to do. So Dang. But as as a collective, yeah, probably just one or two. I'm not gonna say anything. But I don't I I don't like it enough. Like I I have to like something to To do it. I mean, I'm pretty sure I can write something better than what's been out. I just wouldn't want to. Like it's not it's not something I would have. Maybe they'll give you a contract to do an eight episode prequel origin story. No, because I think I think the prequel was already done well. Like I wouldn't want to touch that. I I liked the new beginning. I thought that was the best or the beginning, whatever they call it. I thought that was the best check to change to a massacre. I wouldn't even want to bother to do something like that. Because then it's stupid. Like they They have it worked well. So I I wouldn't wanna do that. And reimagining is gonna be stupid because they tried it three times already. So unless you're unless you're gonna do like a remake of the first one, which you're not gonna make it look better. You know, you're never gonna you're never gonna get that lightning in a bottle with that family at the table again. So it's I I think it's just a franchise that needs to die, personally. Well we we can't do that anymore because we have unions now for film. I'm just saying, you'll you'll never you'll never get that again. So it's Leatherface is what are you legally What are you gonna bring to the table? You know, you gonna bring more more grief, more trauma, more bullshit horror that fucking everybody wants to do? No, I don't wanna see that. They tried it with carry, it was trash. No, you know, yeah. Save it terrible. Save it, save it. I'll save it. I'm save it. But I'm just saying. They they try it with everything and it's bad. Like it's you can't fit everything into this generation's the way they want the movies. It doesn't work. Time and time again, it just doesn't work. I haven't seen a good version of any of it. But Damn. I mean they they're gonna fuck up Freddy but Allegedly. They got two new so I I will say this on on the show that I am allowed to. so back in twenty twenty, twenty nineteen maybe, the West Craven estate was taking pitches on Freddie. And I believe it was his son who was in charge of all the pitches and whatever. So I had a concept, and me and Casey were gonna shoot a trailer for it. Just to have like a a visual to go along with the Bible that I wrote, the pilot, everything. So I've had this concept since like twenty twelve. Wrote it in twenty twelve. Every year I go back to it and I kind of, you know, update it a little bit. So when we heard they were taking pitches, I was like, all right, you know, now now's my time. I got this fucking series of Freddy. And it spans generations. So it's it's different. Like a different take. And we go down there, pitch it, everything is good. the other people in the room, they love the concept and everything. I get a call maybe three weeks later. we're not interested in doing a series. We don't want to expand it. We don't want to go into the lore of Freddie and his beginning and we don't want to change anything. I was like, Well, okay. They're like, Can you put it in film form? I was like, yeah, but it's it's not a one film kind of thing. Like it it it it needs I wrote it specif that whole concept was specifically for like a series length. You know, it it I mean you can put it in a two hour movie, but it's you're not getting anything with it. It's gonna be mediocre. So like, no, we don't we we just wanna focus on film. We don't want any kind of T V. I like, all right, cool. They're like, do you have a film I was like, no, I don't. This is this is all I had. This is what I prepared. So like, all right, you know, if you, you know, in the next couple of years, if you come up with a film concept, you know, feel free to reach out. I, you know, put it aside. That's not, you know, I I the only Freddy concept I had is this. Like, this is it. I I wouldn't want to touch a film version of it. And throughout the years, I kept hearing, you know, from my literary agent, she's like, you know, they they're still interested in if you have an idea, they really liked your TV concept. I was like, I don't. Like I, you know, it's just not it's not in my head to do it as a as a movie. And then she's like, you know, they're talking to this person, that person, this person, that person. Do it. It's like I can't. So then they announced that, you know, they have two separate projects in the works for Freddie. One internationally because they don't have to go back and get the rights. You know, the rights aren't international. They're just for the United States. And so they're doing one internationally. And then they're doing one locally. So she told me who it was and what their concept was. And I was like, that's just gonna be trash. I was like I I was like it's not gonna be good. Either one of them. Like I don't know too much about the the people in I I don't know if I could even say it, but the people in that part of Europe. Like I I don't know too much about their work. But I know a decent amount of stuff about the person here and it's not it's not something I wanna I wanna see. I hope I hope they bring a really good team on and you know Do it that way, as as like a whole team kind of thing. But if they make this guy like the head showrunner and he has final say, it's gonna be bad. Like it's gonna be carry bad. Maybe they didn't want to do the T V show because they already had one. They didn't specify why they did or didn't. They just said they don't wanna they don't want long form, they wanna focus on film. For the time being. They said for Freddie is a film icon. He's not a TV icon. That but that's That's all they said. That's all they said. They didn't really go into into too much de well, it they didn't go into it with me. They they might have went into it with her and she just wouldn't tell me, but they didn't they didn't go into details. Like if you were to rewrite Leatherface and I don't know, if you want to do a sequel or whatever, I think you could always further lean more into the Ed story, like the or like the actual person. Mm-hmm. Kind of connect that to the mother. Like you could do something with that. I mean, that's where I would try to lean from like a different angle that we haven't seen before and kind of really start to research the actual killer. Yeah, I mean, but then you have then you run the risk of it being because there's so many movies that use Ed Jean as a as like inspiration for it. You run the risk of starting to mix all them together and gel and somebody be like, I saw that before, I saw that, that's that, that's that, that That's the only downside of doing that. But it is a it's an interesting take on it. We haven't had a take with this series from that. So I mean at this point. We've we've seen Leatherface, we've seen Leatherface, we've seen three D, we've seen everything but that avenue for them to try it. What's the worst that could happen? I mean, people are still gonna show up and watch it whether it's bad or not. Yeah. You still have a dedicated candidate that would come to see it. I I just don't think you're gonna get something that tops the origin that beginning did, personally. I I I think that's a well done origin story. The series also isn't that type of heady storyline where you can maybe pull out a lot from it. It's not, but I think it could be. I think it could be. I think you could do your favorite word. your favorite genre actually, I think you could do an elevated horror for it. No, my favorite genre was slashers. No, you like that elevated horror shit. I just watched Hellraiser one and two today. Did you? Yeah. Did you like it? Who you calling Pinhead? There ain't there there ain't no way. There ain't no way for that that woman. There's no way I'm doing all that. There ain't no way. You you wouldn't put the you would have put the rose petals on the thing with the wine and Hey Just Justin, that shit must have been crazy. That's the only thing that's the only thing that makes sense. That shit had to be cor like legendary. must have been so fire. man, it must have been so fire. my god. So see, I I I wouldn't do a prequel again. I I don't think you'd be able to do it to fit better than what they did in in the beginning. even though it wasn't like a perfect movie, it was a really good origin story. I I I thought they they did that well. So I I don't think that would be a a wise move. What I would do is I would just drop all the found footage from one of the earlier remakes. I mean, yeah. You can definitely use more of the found footage. I I liked what they did with in what was that? There was the the first remake, right? Where they leaned heavy into the into the found footage. I would have liked to seen something like that a little more. Like i explore the world around Leatherface instead of Leatherface himself. Like what is you know 'cause you never really heard anything from anywhere else in Texas. Like this guy's in Texas fucking murdering people. What are people in Dallas? You know, what what Houston, Austin? Like w you didn't see anything other than Here it just focused on them. Like expand the world a little. You know. I I would have but that's hard in a movie. You know, if if they do a show it would it would work. You know, you start expanding, you start maybe? Possible. Hey, I have a I have a scenario. no, 'cause they did that with resurrection. And there was like a spy there was like a Spider-Man scene, like, huh? It was it's kind of weird. This is what you do, Pat. You reach out to your agent, you have them call Curry and say, We have a gaffer and some other crew that will work on the set and they will not post anything about you after that film comes successful. How about that? Tell them, bro, tell them to film it in New York. Be like leather face in the Bronx. You don't have to worry about any back pay me, Curry. That's all I'm saying. Leatherface. I want my cash up front. Leatherface at Washington Heights, bro. Well, they tried. They tried with Scream, right? Scream, he's in a fucking bodega with a shotgun. They tried it with Jason. He kicks over a fucking boom box. Every time every time horror movies come to New York, it's never it's never it's never good. Cause then they start playing into every stereotype of New Yorkers and it's stupid. Leatherface goes to Atlanta. He just goes to like the nearest strip club. Every st every stereotype of New Yorker, like, I don't do my I don't use my feelings. I go and work out. We don't hug people. Get out of my face. Lather face goes to Jersey, he goes to one of the Fair enough. Fair enough. Who the fuck is this guy, bro? Yo, you wanna go outside? But yeah, skiddie a little chaser. With films, they use like internet stereotypes of New Yorkers. They don't actually know New Yorkers. It'd be like Ronnie versus Mike from that whatever Jersey Shore. he's killing everybody. Fucking train delays. Train delays, so he hits the button, the call button, he just fucking rips everyone up. Yeah, or the idiot person when they're out, they're waiting for the door and she just gets her head. Listen, slice right off. All I'ma say is, bro, if the way he got packed up by these two old ass cops, your your your gold gym local can take on this leather face, no problem. I wanted the girl to survive in the in the movie. With the chainsaw. I was sad she died. Ten times out of ten, I got I got the gold gym local. Yeah. What I don't know. I I had no She's in like another she's in another bad horror movie that I've seen that I I kinda like. I have no connection to any of the characters here. Yeah, dude. I didn't really care if they lived, died, if they got fucking mutilated, had no At least I had Trey Songs on the other one, you know? Shout out shout out Trey Songs. But then that also that's what happens when you bad mouth someone's mom. You don't talk bad about someone's mom. She found out the hard way. True. Yeah. I don't know. Butt cheeks, this movie was. And honestly the Netflix one wasn't much better. That's problem, man. They did so one low budget. One it was a low budget, wasn't it? You said eight hundred thousand seven hundred fifty thousand. Yeah. But like one was You know, one was one. And then two, three, or four. We're mid to mediocre. And then you have five and six were good. And then seven, eight, nine again. Terrible. So it's outside of those two. Everything else is they are They are trying to give you like a premium products, but using cheap materials. Outside of those two that Platinum Dunes did, which the budget justified the quality, which was a lot better and higher in production value. everything else outside of the first one has been very low tier quality, but it's also you could say that they're not getting a lot of money, a lot a lot of funds to work with and that kind of represents the product that they end up doing. Because if they had a bigger budget, they probably could be able to hire a better writer. And they're using TV. So that's that's a I would assume that's a pretty good chunk of the budget. No, Direct T V probably had that laying around. Probably. Maybe that's why they took the deal. We have the Aria Alexa. We got one that we use for the NFL Sunday ticket and you know we don't have that anymore. We lost that. So let's just use it for something. Yeah, and I think it was just the Ari Alexa. That's it. No special numbers, no none of that. Just Ari Alexa, bro. Just point and shoot. I don't know. I as far as this movie goes, I don't really think for this story, this characters, these I don't think you could have really done anything different to make it better. I I just think it was a bad all around choice choice to make this type of move to make this type of origin story. I don't think it fit any whatever timeline they say it fits, it doesn't fit. Allegedly. No, it doesn't. There there's no fucking way. Yeah, I just you must have quit. That is true. I just don't see I just don't see a reason for this movie to be exist. Like it tax write off. I guess maybe money laundering. I I don't know, something. But it's money laundering. I don't A lot of films do that. They do. They do. Anyone want to launder money, just just let me know. I'm okay with it. this is the Ozark. I need you to pay three million dollars from me in two hours. Can you do that? I thought you know, I r I really honestly thought two was gonna be the worst of the series. And it was really weird. Good watching the rest of I I definitely would say two is two is easily better than seven, eight, nine. Better than four. So technically it's top five. Yeah. One, two, three, and then technically, yes. I don't know. I unfortunately. Unfortunately, yes. I would go six, five, one. Two and three I think could be a toss up because as bad as two was, like so when you s when you told me like if it was like a standalone movie, like really didn't have just just you'd look at it different, it probably would have been a lot better. But seeing it as a Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel It just wasn't it. And three was just boring. Just a weird problem with three was just just boring. So I I I could probably you could mix and match two and three for me. Doesn't matter which one. So four and five and that would be it. The r the backside of the so four, seven, eight, nine. T absolutely terrible movies. So weak ass series, bruh. Like I get there next week with the last one. Yeah, I don't even want to do it. That's how bad it is. But there there will be a lot of jokes coming. I I I have some ri I actually wrote some down for this. So All right, all right. Because it was so fucking bad watching it. I was like, No, they can't do that. No, why can't why they no. I was like, I gotta write this down. Technically with my with with some prime lenses, I could have shot I could have shot that text chainsaw on my C seventy and submitted it. You could've passed the requirements. It would've looked better too. Damn. Yeah, that shit did not look good. Unf unfortunately shots fired. I'm just doing the coloring. I do like the way two looked. I I like that bold over the top color of it. Like it was very colorful. I I like that. Nothing is touching one look wise. Like I liked five and six, but they had that green they had that they suffer from that of the time green filter that every horror movie had. That's a personal choice though. It is because I I don't like that. I like that. I like that more than the first one. Do you? Like Don't even think it's close. For me it's a toss up. It doesn't it doesn't you know the first one is a more original vintage look. of course 'cause it's the first one. You know, but Yeah, I mean I don't mind the The first remake and then the the sequel or prequel. The Sony look color wise. I don't mind it too much, but too you know in that perspective of of all the horror movies having it, it's like, all right, relax. You know. Yeah, that that's that's my only complaint about it. Is there was like a dozen movies around that time that had that used that that green hue. For horror. Yeah. I d I don't know what room everybody sat in and was like, hey, let's just make everything green. But you know. It wasn't the right emotion needed there. Yeah, I'm done. I got nothing else to say. Revisitation Ray Podcast. I'm Pat. I'm Brandon. I am Justin. Thankfully, this fucking episode is over.
