- 0:00Speaker 1: Time not for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: mele It's life Chiropractic. We're here with doctor Harley. Hello,
- 0:04Speaker 1: doctor Harley. Hey John excited to talk about women's health today.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is a topic that is not necessarily for me,
- 0:11Speaker 1: but I know a lot of people listening will absolutely
- 0:13Speaker 1: relate to this.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Well. It is Women's Health month too, and it was
- 0:17Speaker 2: just International Women's Day, so I think it's a good
- 0:19Speaker 2: time to talk about women's health. I feel like women
- 0:21Speaker 2: probably think it, you know, the kind of thing themselves.
- 0:23Speaker 2: It doesn't get talked about it enough.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Absolutely, And I know my wife was just visiting with
- 0:28Speaker 1: you about women's health things, so I was like, oh,
- 0:30Speaker 1: this is the perfect time to talk about this, right.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They kind of made me think a little bit more.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's like, I don't know if I've talked about it much.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Did you know that most medical studies, for most of
- 0:38Speaker 2: modern medicine have only been done on men?
- 0:40Speaker 1: No kidding, I did not.
- 0:42Speaker 2: So that's where when a lot of times I'll get
- 0:44Speaker 2: this with patients. They've gone to their doctor and they
- 0:47Speaker 2: have XYZ going on, and their doctor really doesn't have
- 0:49Speaker 2: an answer for them. There just hasn't been a lot
- 0:52Speaker 2: of research and study done on common problems that a
- 0:55Speaker 2: lot of women get. You know, they hear, oh, you know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: it's probably just your monthly cycle, or you know, you're
- 1:00Speaker 2: gas year bloated, or you know, xyz and I have
- 1:05Speaker 2: had a lot of women sit across from me and
- 1:06Speaker 2: kind of tell me these things, and it's it hurts
- 1:09Speaker 2: that women aren't taken as seriously with their health problems.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I wonder, that doesn't make sense to me, but there
- 1:16Speaker 1: has to be something to it if that's what's happening.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I think it's getting better. You know, over the last
- 1:21Speaker 2: you know, ten twenty years, it definitely has gotten a
- 1:23Speaker 2: lot better. One. We're seeing a lot more women in
- 1:26Speaker 2: health fields, with chiropractic in particular. I know, the graduation
- 1:30Speaker 2: rates at least at Palmer College RUG graduates like at
- 1:33Speaker 2: least fifty to fifty if not slightly higher towards women now.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So we're starting to see a lot more women chiropractors too,
- 1:39Speaker 2: and I think that's going to help kind of push
- 1:41Speaker 2: the envelope to have better information about women's health.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Is there something that women should think of during Women's
- 1:49Speaker 1: Health Month that maybe they don't think of? But it's
- 1:51Speaker 1: like Hey, this would be a good month to think
- 1:52Speaker 1: about doing.
- 1:53Speaker 2: This going to the chiropractor.
- 1:54Speaker 1: There you go, I like that one.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, so I am a female care so
- 2:00Speaker 2: I do tend to see a lot more women, which
- 2:02Speaker 2: is awesome, especially here in Two Falls. We do tend
- 2:05Speaker 2: to be more older men, just as again, chiropractic is
- 2:08Speaker 2: starting to become more and more women focused. But as
- 2:10Speaker 2: we know, South Dakota is kind of ten fifteen years
- 2:13Speaker 2: at least behind most places.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Not some things.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah you know, I've heard that a few you know,
- 2:17Speaker 2: from people or at least in my own experience. When
- 2:20Speaker 2: you go to other cities, you're like, oh, why don't
- 2:22Speaker 2: we have this?
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:23Speaker 2: So yeah, just you know, knowing that there are more
- 2:26Speaker 2: and more options out there for women's health. I know
- 2:29Speaker 2: Sanford and Vera both have you know, women's health specific centers. Chiropractors.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We see a lot of women for common things like
- 2:36Speaker 2: you know, menstrual issues, you know, working on building a baby,
- 2:40Speaker 2: having that baby, postpartum, you know, even as they get
- 2:44Speaker 2: into the change in their fifties. Just all sorts of
- 2:48Speaker 2: very specific things for women that even chiropractic can help with,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and some people might not have thought oh, I didn't
- 2:53Speaker 2: know chiropractic could help with those things.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Absolutely. If somebody listening is going, how do I set
- 2:58Speaker 1: up a time to come in and meet and maybe
- 3:00Speaker 1: they have questions they should be asking during Women's Health Month.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, as simple as giving us a call and getting
- 3:05Speaker 2: a new patient appointments scheduled. Our phone number is six
- 3:07Speaker 2: or five two one five one seven eight five. I'd
- 3:10Speaker 2: love to sit down and chat and talk to you
- 3:11Speaker 2: about how chiropractic can help you with your health.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Very nice. You can also find all of their information
- 3:16Speaker 1: on their website, balanced Life sd dot com
