- 0:00Hey, folch Savis is Paul here from Devilskin on the bass player, and
- 0:03man, we're totally looking forward to returning to Australia. I think it's our
- 0:08sixth or seventh time, but they are part of the Lagerfest tour and of
- 0:12course the Froth and Fury gig as well. So man, I'm just really
- 0:17excited to come back to Ozzy. You artful, Paul, Thanks for joining
- 0:20us today. Brother, man, my pleasure, My pleasure mate. You
- 0:23well, yeah, mate, I'm very good, yourself proven. Yeah,
- 0:27yeah, I'm excited. It's excited when we've got things that booked up and
- 0:32yeah, my favorite destination at the moment. So yeah, excited to be
- 0:36coming over. Oh and you. Devil Skin returned to Australia as part of
- 0:41the Traveling Lagerfest shows starting in Auckland on November the eleventh. Then you had
- 0:45the Prist Search christ Church, Brisbane, Sydney and finishing Adelaide on November the
- 0:49nineteenth. It is getting close now, made like ciber levels must be building
- 0:53in the band. It's getting real totally and you know, to be sure
- 1:00the bill with the halo effects for a start. Holy crap, man,
- 1:02there's some legacy in that band, so you know, it's just going to
- 1:04be unreal to be part of that bill and to be you know, get
- 1:07to get to watch them every night Beyond the Black very exciting as well,
- 1:12and man, they've got huge numbers in Germany and around Europe, so man,
- 1:18it's going to be great to see them. And of course Lugensteine Lagostine
- 1:23well, bro, Yeah, it looks intense and it looks like a hell
- 1:29of a lot of fun, really does. If the name is anything to
- 1:34go by, mate, there's gonna be plenty of bear fighting as well.
- 1:38That looks exactly what's going to be going on. Yeah, plenty of drinking
- 1:42out of boots and that sort of carry on. From what I can see,
- 1:48it looks like a you know that. It just looks like fun and
- 1:51you know it's it's a it's a diverse line up, a very cool act.
- 1:55I think the crowd's in for a big treat, you know. And
- 1:57of course you mentioned brother if you're as well, that's just that's the line
- 2:01up from l Yeah, oh bro, yeah totally. I mean I'm a
- 2:05huge Ossie music fan. Butterfly Effects. I've seen them in a tiny little
- 2:08bar here and Hamilton years ago sunk Lodo. I'm absolutely rap they get back
- 2:14together. Of course, emergency role one of my favors at the moment,
- 2:16and we get to share the stage again with our mates Alien Weaponry and not
- 2:22to mention, it'd be my sixth time I think seeing suicidal tendencies, So
- 2:28looking forward to it. So what can we actually expect from Devil Skin at
- 2:32these shows. Well, we've been working out, We've got a little bit
- 2:36of new music under our belts and stuff, but we're going to be aiming
- 2:39for some pretty high impact sets, So get a lot of energy and some
- 2:44some brutal throat punches that we're going to disguise as songs. I like that.
- 2:51It's been a couple of years since Devil Skin will last out here for
- 2:53your own headline shows, mate, So what's changed with the band in that
- 2:57time. I guess we've all sort of grown. You'd hope you're growing mature
- 3:01a little bit, but I mean it's been a challenging a couple of years
- 3:07for rock and roll in general, and we've got a big kicking the nuts
- 3:08with the whole COVID thing, so it's been a good chance to regroup work
- 3:13on new music and just take things one step at a time. You know,
- 3:15made it made a little music video for the song let Me Breathe,
- 3:20and it's been getting some good reactions and stuff, even though the radio stations
- 3:24over here think it's a little bit too heavy to play because it's got Jenny
- 3:29growling in it, but you get that. But man, we're just excited
- 3:35about the new music and where we're just getting. It just feels better and
- 3:38better every time. You know, each church we just get a little bit
- 3:42more tight. We've got some big plans for next year because round about July
- 3:46twenty twenty four, it's going to be ten years since we're released the debut
- 3:52album We Rise, So we've been working on a few bits and pieces.
- 3:55We might even record some sneaky covers alongside some new songs, and yeah,
- 4:00we look forward to celebrating that as well. Right good. And of course
- 4:04one of the other big things that changes in Nails is now a Gibson artists,
- 4:09So tell us about that what it means, Oh mate, he's absolutely
- 4:13so. He sort of kept it under his hat for a while, but
- 4:15Gibson approached him and he's always been playing the guitars he's a Gibson nut as
- 4:21I myself, you know, but I've got a dem endorsement, but no
- 4:26one ever expects to get a you know, to become a Gibson artist like
- 4:29that. So yeah, he took him by surprise, and he kept it
- 4:32very quiet because he's actually pretty humble dude. And yeah, when when it
- 4:38was all sort of locked and loaded and he had ordered this beautiful twin neck
- 4:44six twelve s g thing, God damn gorgeous, and yeah, when that
- 4:48turned up, Yeah, that's when it felt like things are real and he's
- 4:51he's over the moon. I'm really soaked him because he's worked real hard.
- 4:57There's a lot of guitar players that have I know, that spoker, and
- 5:00he's got a true heart and you're really excited for him, really good.
- 5:04And it's great to see the bigger labels actually, you know, supporting the
- 5:09bands getting behind some names, you know what I mean, rather than just
- 5:13slash or stuff like that. And you mentioned this a bit before, Mabel
- 5:17going through the bit more detail, like next year is going to be the
- 5:20tamped anniversary of your debut album We Rise, So what sort of special things
- 5:25you got planned for that you will at the moment, we're just sort of
- 5:29thrown around some ideas, but looking likely that we might do a couple of
- 5:31vps and put a sprinkle of new songs, some songs that we're going to
- 5:38remaster from We Rise, and maybe throw a couple of covers in there that
- 5:43we're probably playing on stage at that time. But yeah, now we're just
- 5:46going to have a little play with them and see how it goes. Haven't
- 5:49really recorded covers before, we haven't, so that would be pretty cool.
- 5:54Oh did you think that album still holds up a decade later? Yeah?
- 5:59I really, Yeah, I can't fault it after all this time. Ten
- 6:04years seems to be a long time, but it's it still sounds fresh and
- 6:09new and exciting when I listened to it. You know, it's hasn't lost
- 6:12that magic for me at all. And how would you say that Devil Sander
- 6:15Rome musically as a band from that album to what you're doing now, it's
- 6:20just, you know, a natural evolution. Sticking together for ten years,
- 6:24I mean, everyone deserves a medal. You know. It's as hard in
- 6:28the rock and roll business as it is, but yeah, it's it's it's
- 6:31it's a milestone been together that long and you don't get you don't get to
- 6:35stay together that long without sacrifice and compromise and not being a dick. Basically
- 6:43it helps. Three quarters of us are family, so you know, kind
- 6:46of cornered in that respect, but everyone just wants the same thing, you
- 6:53know. It's it's just it's as simple as that. We'll strive to make
- 6:59the next record, to make the next video, to make the next tour,
- 7:01just to make stuff happen and to be a band. And that's that's
- 7:04I think where we're happiest and strongest. So I think the last ten years
- 7:12it's just became more apparent. We've dug in and worked hard. We've toured
- 7:15a lot, and we don't intend to stop anytime soon. Before we let
- 7:21you go, Bro, We've started up three new Spotify playlists to help our
- 7:25listeners get acquainted with the band. So using Devil Skin Songs, can you
- 7:29give us a song to get the party started, a song to potentially save
- 7:32your marriage, and a song that could end your marriage? Okay, let
- 7:38me Breathe could potentially end your marriage. Possibly Burning Tree might be the song
- 7:46that could potentially save your marriage. Yeah, yeah, And how about one
- 7:49to get the party started, the one to get the party started. It's
- 7:54got to be do you see birds? All right, Paul, thanks very
- 7:58much for your time. Brother. You'll be out here in Australia in a
- 8:01couple of weeks, so we'll be here unfortunately, but best to luck with
- 8:03the running shows, bro, and hopefully you catch it early in near Yeah,
- 8:07man, totally. I hope you have a great time in Japan.
- 8:09Hoping score for the bend here.
