- 1:17That was that was must watch. I, I mean, me and Tommy, when we
- 1:21went to break, we were laughing. It was, it was one of the
- 1:24funniest things. And if I could rewind that and
- 1:27look at your face when you came back into the the conversation,
- 1:31that was something that we definitely have to cut up and
- 1:34pop up because that face was just endlessly funny.
- 1:37So I just want to let you know that it would definitely stood
- 1:40out to me so far in this show, no matter what we talk about now
- 1:44for the rest of the show, your face was perfect.
- 1:48We got to cut that out, fish and put that up.

- 2:24We got some names from the draft.
- 2:27Are you ready to sound it out? All right, Peter Andre Nov.
- 2:34Andre Nov Andre Nov. Hold on.
- 2:38Andre Yanov. Andre Yanov.
- 2:42Peter Andre Yanov. What do you think?
- 2:45I mean, I would say it's Andre Yanov, but we'll allow it.
- 2:52We'll allow it. It's.
- 2:55It's Peter. It's Pieter, you know, but
- 2:57we'll, it's Peter. You're not wrong.
- 3:00That's how it would be spelled for Peter.
- 3:03One for one, Errol on the NHL draft.
- 3:06Didn't expect you this hot out of the gate.
- 3:09Let's keep the music rolling. Our next name coming on up for
- 3:14you, Errol. Can't wait.
- 3:16Here it is. Sounded out Francisco de Leche.
- 3:28What is this? What?
- 3:29What is this? First off, is Francesco all?
- 3:33Right. Well, Francesco?
- 3:34Francesco. What is it?
- 3:40What is it? What's his last name?
- 3:41Speedy, I don't know how to pronounce the last name I know
- 3:43the first name he knows. You know how to pronounce it.
- 3:45Go ahead, Speedy. I gave this one to you guys
- 3:47yesterday so. It doesn't help.
- 3:50Me so I get a half a point because you guys don't know how
- 3:52to spell it. I mean you guys.
- 3:53Certainly not Dolce de leche the type of like.
- 3:58De Leche, I mean, come on, how do you you guys don't even know
- 4:01how to sound it out and you're going to get you got to give me
- 4:04half a point for that. You have to you guys don't know
- 4:07it. So that's a half a point.
- 4:09That's 1 1/2. For me, hold on, but we'll find
- 4:11it out real quick for you. Look at this ladies and
- 4:15gentlemen, we play sounded out and these guys make fun of me on
- 4:19how I pronounce these hockey names.
- 4:21These guys don't even know how to pronounce pronounce their
- 4:23names either. So how am IA loser on this game?
- 4:27I should be a winner every single.
- 4:29Week, I think it's Delotge, so not not going to get that one,
- 4:33but one for 2 is for batting 500 pretty good.
- 4:36We got one more Tommy, get the music going.
- 4:39Here it is. One more chance Errol to sound
- 4:42it out. Oh my God, this one I saw all
- 4:49over the Internet. OK, Ilyas Mago Med.
- 4:56Sultanov. Say it all together.
- 5:00Ilyas Mago Med. Sultanov, Come on, Mag Omed
- 5:13Sultanov all. Right.
- 5:17I don't know. I'm going to give you that one.
- 5:20How do you pronounce it? I'm going to give.
- 5:21It to you 2 out of three. It's definitely Ilias.
- 5:25All right. Ilias Magomed Sultanov.
- 5:29All right, that's not bad. I got.
- 5:32I'm not sure if that's how it's pronounced all right, but I
- 5:35don't see how it could be pronounced something else.
- 5:37It's just the longest last name I've ever seen They so it's the
- 5:43second one was Francesco del del L che Del leche or Del L che?
- 5:50Yep, Del L Che. That's a tough one.
- 5:52Well, hold on one second. I wasn't that far off was.
- 5:55I you were, you got the first name completely wrong.
- 5:58All right, but I wasn't I You made fun of what I said at the
- 6:01end. It sounded like you said dulce
- 6:03de leche. Whatever.
- 6:05It's it's still not fault from what I was saying.
- 6:07Hey, listen, I, I, I'm thinking of food because I can't have it
- 6:10right now. So I might as well enjoy
- 6:13thinking about it. Anyways, please don't don't
- 6:15complain to me about any of that.
- 6:17Well, I, I could eat the stuff, but I'm trying to be a little
- 6:20bit more careful. I, I am not drinking any sugar
- 6:23drinks. I'm going to stay away from it
- 6:25for the next couple of months. But besides that, I should be
- 6:28allowed to eat whatever I want if I'm not drinking the sugar
- 6:30drinks because that's what that's my killer.
- 6:33Anybody that knows anything about sugar drinks, if there is
- 6:36any like crushed soda crush, crushed grape or any of that
- 6:42stuff around me, I am swallowing that bottle down.
- 6:44I like lemonade too. Love my lemonade.
- 6:47So I have to stay away from all of that for the.
- 6:49Next diet dude, just diet. You got to go diet let.
- 6:53Me diet or what? I'm not drinking that.
- 6:55Diet, diet, I'll just drink this tea.
- 6:56Diet lemonade. I'll just drink it.
- 6:59I don't want diet lemonade. I don't want diet freaking iced
- 7:02tea. I'll just drink.
- 7:04Welcome to to being part of the anti sugar world.
- 7:08Well, I'm just, I'm not going to stay away from sugar.
- 7:11I'm just going to stay away from sugar drinks.
- 7:13That's what I'm going to stay away from.
- 7:14You should try to stay away from unnatural sugar.
- 7:17That's the general thing they say.
- 7:19Like fruit and stuff like that's not terrible.
- 7:21Refine, refine. Well, I'm going to.
- 7:24I want to have some cake. Why can't I have some cake?
- 7:26I'm not going to stay away from that completely.
- 7:28So I deserve a little bit of sweet.
- 7:30Just get the ones that have the sugar free or the no sugar
- 7:34added. So I have to stay away from
- 7:36sugar completely. Come on, get out of here.
- 7:38I'm not that. Bad Errol, If you just say like,
- 7:41oh, I'm not going to, I'm not going to eat the soda, but I'm
- 7:43going to eat cake, that doesn't change the fact that you need.
- 7:47Say I was going to eat cake every day, but if I want to have
- 7:50cake once a week, I could have cake once a week.
- 7:53Why not? I'm just saying you could you
- 7:56the way that I when I found out I was type 1 diabetic and
- 7:59obviously you don't have that, but I just found a bunch of
- 8:02desserts that were similar to desserts I would want to have.
- 8:05And then after you don't, you don't have sugar for a few
- 8:07weeks, you don't really like miss it like that and you just
- 8:11want to have a dessert so you can have like a very low sugar
- 8:14brownie and ice cream and things like that.
- 8:16And you and it's not that bad. It really isn't, but it's a big
- 8:20change. It is.
- 8:21Man, I like I said, it's 4th of July on Friday, I am going to
- 8:25have, I'm not going to drink any sugar drinks, but I am going to
- 8:27have some cake and I'm going to have the opportunity to enjoy my
- 8:314th of July and then I'll go back to, you know, being being
- 8:35this garbage. Anyways, all right, ladies and
- 8:38gentlemen, we got to get into some NHL conversation.
- 8:41We're going to get Ashley Sarge on the show next week.
- 8:44He was with the Islanders today. He was that their development
- 8:48camps he got a chance to see some of the young players at the
- 8:51Islanders drafted in this past draft.
- 8:54A+ plus we will get into that just a few moments.
- 8:57The Maple Leafs sign winger Matthew 9 to a six year, $46.5
- 9:02million extension and center John Tavares, which we were
- 9:06speaking about a couple of days ago, four years $17.52 million
- 9:11extension. The Canucks gave forward Brock
- 9:14Besser A7 year $50.75 million extension and goalie Thatcher
- 9:21Demco a three-year $25.5 million extent.
- 9:25Actually like that by the way, by the Canucks.
- 9:27That deal was definitely a deal that really stood out to me in
- 9:31his free agency market. The Islanders gave Alexander
- 9:34Romanoff an 8 year, 50 million extension, not a bad one.
- 9:38We will get into that in just a few moments.
- 9:39The Oilers gave defenseman Evan Bouchard A4 year $42.5 million
- 9:45extension, the fourth highest paid defenseman in the NHL.
- 9:49Not a good move as as far as I'm concerned, even though he had a
- 9:52very good playoff and he had a very good season.
- 9:55The Panthers kept all three. Sam Bennett who was the the
- 9:59playoff MVP, Brad Marshawn and Aaron Eckblatt.
- 10:03I think this all of these deals were fantastic.
- 10:07This is the slam dunk for the Florida Panthers.
- 10:09Eight years 64,000,000. Marshawn got a six year 31.5
- 10:13million and Eckblatt, who is one of the more underrated players
- 10:17in the league, got an 8 year, 48.8 billion dollar contract.
- 10:21So let's go with the extensions first, then we'll go with the
- 10:24trades. I think the Canucks slam dunk
- 10:27bringing back Brock Besser. I think he's very underrated.
- 10:30He's an underrated player. He's one of the more underrated
- 10:33two way players in the NHL. He's seven years, $50.75
- 10:37million. You want to keep your own
- 10:39players. You developed him and I think
- 10:41he's a guy that a lot of teams want to.
- 10:43I remember when he was becoming available, the Islanders were
- 10:46very interested in trying to make a trade to bring him to the
- 10:48Islanders. They had no chance of getting
- 10:51Brock. Brock is a a sensational player,
- 10:53big, strong, capable of playing two-dimensional hockey and
- 10:57Thatcher is one of the more underrated goalies in the NHL.
- 11:00Young talented in the contract that he got three years 2425
- 11:05$5,000,000 extension fantastic so that that those to me though
- 11:11them and the Florida Panthers, but I want to know your opinion
- 11:13first. Yeah, I like it from the Canucks
- 11:15standpoint, if they needed to lock in the goalies when he
- 11:18comes to two, yeah, a three-year deal is probably because of his
- 11:22injury risk factor because he's been like that his whole career.
- 11:24He came up kind of as the same as the two New York guys kind of
- 11:27the same time. And I think that level of a
- 11:30goaltender Vancouver has not had for a while since when they had
- 11:33Luongo and they had trouble going for it.
- 11:36Besser obviously was disgruntled with the whole JT Miller
- 11:38situation, so they had to make sure they sealed one of them.
- 11:41They traded Miller, they they end up keeping him, but with the
- 11:43lease end of it, John Tavares essentially gets a pay cut,
- 11:46which is a good thing for them because they needed to be able
- 11:49to shed some money. If they traded Marner, we'll get
- 11:51into that later, but they end up getting some money to help other
- 11:54areas. Matthew Nyes is a good young
- 11:56winger, fast type guy and they've been lacking a lot of
- 11:58the wing production for a while. So I think that's a good move.
- 12:01Bouchard is interesting because you're right, ten and a half
- 12:03million is definitely a little bit for a undersized defenseman,
- 12:07but he is very skilled, one of the best offensive defenseman.
- 12:10He still skates well. He's not just over just not
- 12:12overly physical, but besides that does everything else really
- 12:14well. And like you said, Florida, I'm
- 12:15shocked they were able to keep all three.
- 12:17I thought Ekblad. Was I'm not gone.
- 12:18I'm not the Florida Panthers or a smart organization.
- 12:21They've been one of the smarter organizations over the last
- 12:24couple of years and landing Bennett, Marshawn and Ekblad.
- 12:28I mean, could you argue that this team is the Stanley Cup
- 12:31contender that is probably going to be favorites again to win the
- 12:35Stanley Cup next year? I don't think you can argue that
- 12:38this team, we haven't seen a back-to-back to back champion
- 12:42for since the I think it was the the the Islanders, right?
- 12:46Or the Edmonton Oilers. No, it was.
- 12:47The Oilers were three in a row. Islanders were. 4 So it was the
- 12:5080's the last time late 80s early 90's the last time we.
- 12:55Seen goalies were standing up, yes.
- 12:57That's when it was grand fuel. We barely had helmets.
- 13:00At that time and Billy Smith, those were the two goalies, one
- 13:03for the Islanders and the other one.
- 13:04And and that's for you young guys that when we were talking
- 13:07about goalies, Billy Smith and then obviously Grand Fjour, both
- 13:11guys, Hall of Famers, sensational goalies, both of
- 13:15them. Before they had that, that after
- 13:16they had helmets, they had the Michael Myers.
- 13:18Mask I I I can't argue that the Florida Panthers are going.
- 13:21To be John Davidson. Yes, Florida's going to be the
- 13:24favorites and they have a couple of young guys that they're going
- 13:26to be probably calling up playing fourth or third lines
- 13:29because they're loaded on their top two.
- 13:32I mean, there's I don't think there's a team that has more
- 13:34depth than the Florida Panthers do.
- 13:36And I you can ask the Edmonton Oilers where they have the two
- 13:39best players in all of hockey dry Sidal and McDavid.
- 13:43They did all they can do and they still couldn't beat the
- 13:46Florida Panthers. So I would say, I would say the
- 13:49Panthers won Canucks to I'm going to go, I'm going to go
- 13:54with the Islanders bringing out Romanoff.
- 13:56Alexander Romanoff is still young.
- 13:58Four years, 50 million for a guy that had a great season last
- 14:02year and you're bringing all these young guys.
- 14:04Yeah, he's, he's 262526 years old.
- 14:08He's still very young. And he and he, remember, what
- 14:11was it 3-4 years ago? He was drafted by Montreal
- 14:14Canadiens, I mean. He was good on that, that random
- 14:16cup run team, like kind of. The five years, five years ago
- 14:20when he was drafted by but, but nevertheless, he's he's still
- 14:23fairly young. He had a great season, he stayed
- 14:25healthy and what now you're bringing in all these younger
- 14:27guys. What the Islanders need to do is
- 14:29they need a trade, either Mayfield, Poolock or Pellic.
- 14:32That's where they have to go. They're going to have to move
- 14:34one or maybe two of them because I want to see these young guys
- 14:37get brought up a lot sooner than later and I expect them to do
- 14:41that now that Darsh is there. I.
- 14:42Think they're going to trade one in the offseason.
- 14:44They'll probably trade 1 during the season I have a feeling.
- 14:46I think 2 out of the three. I don't like what the Oilers are
- 14:49doing. The Oilers just got beat by a
- 14:52team that just signed their guys.
- 14:54Marshan averaging. I mean, look, Marshan's 37.
- 14:57He's not playing till he's 43. That's done for cap purposes.
- 15:00He's not playing six years on that deal.
- 15:02I'd be very shocked if he played till he's 43.
- 15:05But they're not paying. Bennett's making 8A year,
- 15:08Ekblad's making six point whatever, 6.1 a year.
- 15:12Bouchard's going to be making over 10 a year, I believe
- 15:16Mcdavid's making 12. And so is Dry Sidle that doesn't
- 15:19win against the team that has depth of a bunch of $8 million
- 15:22players that can run you off the ice.
- 15:25They're trying to. Just saw that happen.
- 15:27They're. Trying to go for the Penguins
- 15:28formula because it's the way they built with that type of I
- 15:31guess system. Obviously, Crosby, Mulkin,
- 15:32McDavid, Dry. The same kind of lie.
- 15:34I will say this about the the New York Rangers.
- 15:37I think it was a slam dunk trading out of that picking and
- 15:40taking the Pittsburgh Penguins first round draft pick next year
- 15:43because Pittsburgh, you don't know what they're going to be
- 15:46next year. Sidney Crosby could be traded
- 15:49some part of the season. So could Malkin.
- 15:51This is an older team. Latang is another guy overpaid
- 15:55at his position. He's a great defenseman.
- 15:56Hall of Famer. All three of them are Hall of
- 15:58Famers. Yeah, Pittsburgh could be an
- 16:00absolute bust this year, and the Rangers could get a lottery pick
- 16:03because of. It I think they didn't reveal
- 16:05the teams obviously, but I think there was a source that said
- 16:07Sidney Crosby actually gave the Penguins three teams he would be
- 16:10traded. He would like to be traded so
- 16:12it. Won't be the Islanders, that's
- 16:13for sure, no. I doubt it.
- 16:16Let's talk about some of those trades we got.
- 16:18We had a whole bunch of trades in here.
- 16:22The biggest one we already you mentioned at the top was Mitch
- 16:24Marner. So Mitch Marner goes to Las
- 16:27Vegas and gets immediately gets an 8 year deal, $96,000,000 to
- 16:34play in Vegas. Let's start right there.
- 16:37I love it. Mitch Marner going over to Vegas
- 16:40with the talent that they have over there from you're talking
- 16:42about, we talked about the Florida Panthers, the second
- 16:45team that has as much depth or second most depth.
- 16:49Now adding niche Marner is the Vegas Knights.
- 16:52I mean, you can't even argue with that.
- 16:54And now you have Reichel and you have Marner.
- 16:58Could you imagine them play on the same line?
- 17:01Scary, scary. And and Mitch Marner with the
- 17:05speed and Reichel who who he could do everything.
- 17:08I mean, he's defense, offense I and and they're loaded from top
- 17:11to bottom. They have two good quality goal
- 17:14tenders, not great goal tenders, but quality goal tending.
- 17:18I and their defense is, is phenomenal.
- 17:20So yeah, I, I love Mitch Marta going over there to Vegas.
- 17:24Shocked that Vegas was the favorites to getting getting him
- 17:28before he even became available. Yeah, I was hearing that he was
- 17:31the favorite. They were the favorites for a
- 17:32while. I was also hearing the Kings
- 17:34were trying to make a swing for it.
- 17:36There were a couple other Western Conference teams that
- 17:37probably had a little bit of. Less he wanted to go to the
- 17:39heat. He wanted, he wanted to
- 17:40definitely go out there and Vegas I probably since George
- 17:44Mcphee's been there and since they became an expansive team,
- 17:46they've been one of the those teams not afraid to make those
- 17:49types of trades. The Islander Guy McPhee.
- 17:51Yes, George McPhee also was with Washington for a while, a guy
- 17:54that like to make swings over there for those big veteran
- 17:56guys. And they obviously they know
- 17:59fish another one of those teams that manipulates the cap very
- 18:01well to make that kind of thing work.
- 18:02And now a lot of those other deals look like bargains in
- 18:04addition to obviously the gems that they hit on in the
- 18:06expansion draft. And now Marner can become that
- 18:08type of really dynamic second scorer well with Eichel.
- 18:12And they'd be just as good, better than Eichel statistically
- 18:15during a year or two. And again, you got all those
- 18:18wing depth to go along with it too.
- 18:19I I would put them as my W favorite right now honestly.
- 18:24I got to talk about the Rangers. Rangers traded, finally traded
- 18:27Key. Andre Miller went to the
- 18:29Hurricanes and and the Hurricanes gave him an 8 year,
- 18:32$60 million deal right away. I could have sworn this was the
- 18:37same guy Speedy that couldn't play dead in the cowboy movie
- 18:41The entirety of last season. And every time they put him out
- 18:44there, they had him haplessly cover better players than the
- 18:48other team. And it never went well except
- 18:50for like two or three guys that he was just able to get the long
- 18:53stick on because let's face it, that was the Miller's best
- 18:55thing. He has the long reach with the
- 18:58left hand, with the stick, everything else with that guy.
- 19:02I'm happy to see him go. I can't believe he got that much
- 19:06money and the Rangers got a first and a second for this guy.
- 19:10I think they're doing it basically, you always judge,
- 19:13especially in baseball trades. You also, but also hockey
- 19:15younger players too. You're judging based on the
- 19:17talent that he does have. And I think Carolina knows that
- 19:19the defensive system that they have has still rebirthed other
- 19:22guys that were worse. So that's the logic they're
- 19:24going to go on. Kiandre Miller still has a lot
- 19:26more overall talent and athleticism than Tony D'Angelo
- 19:29and guys like that that they've tried to make it work in their
- 19:32system. So maybe that's what they're
- 19:33banking on right now. Again, Don Waddell is a very
- 19:35inconsistent like overall GM. I'm not crazy about him, but I
- 19:39think they're still banking on the upside where they he could
- 19:41say, all right, this is a bargain if it does work out.
- 19:43DeAndre Miller is 2223 years old.
- 19:45He's a young guy now. He didn't play well in Madison
- 19:48Square Garden. He didn't play well with the New
- 19:50York Rangers. He was a high draft pick.
- 19:52I think he was a top ten pick when the. 25.
- 19:55Yeah, he was. That was the year the every
- 19:56first round pick. So he he was he was a high draft
- 19:59pick for the New York Rangers. Everybody expected.
- 20:01I remember when he played for the Badgers, we had Granado on
- 20:04the show. I was actually our hockey show
- 20:07and Tony Granado told me that this guy is going to be a star.
- 20:10It didn't work in Madison's great Garnet, but Carolina, they
- 20:13are very good defensive team. They have two of the best
- 20:15defensemen in all of hockey and our key Andre Miller gets to go
- 20:18over there and learn from two of the very best in the NHL.
- 20:22And I think a guy like keep always mess up Rob Brindamore,
- 20:28who's a very good defensive mind, offensive player that
- 20:32preaches defense. I think he's going to get
- 20:34Keandre Miller to play a little bit better hockey.
- 20:36I I don't know if he's worth 8 years, 60 million, I would say
- 20:40no, but he's a big body who can hit.
- 20:44If he learns a lick of NHL hockey, this guy could turn from
- 20:49a bust into a star. That's how good Keandre Miller
- 20:52was supposed to be and everything thing that Tony
- 20:54Granado told us about him is he's a no brain superstar in
- 20:58this league. But he hasn't become that.
- 21:00And and that's because he played in Madison Square Ground in the
- 21:03Rangers. Very hard place to play.
- 21:04I was always in on him up until probably the 2023.
- 21:07Player Mikey C loves him. Mikey C still loves him.
- 21:11Says that you watch, he goes to Caroline.
- 21:13He's going to be an old. I could see that just with the
- 21:15way that defensive system. He loves over there.
- 21:17He loves him. He tells me, oh, you don't know
- 21:19how good Keandre Miller is. I think dude, Keandre Miller
- 21:22sucks and the only reason why I think he might accomplish what
- 21:26you're saying is accomplished because he's going to go to a
- 21:28team with two of the best defensive defence mean in all of
- 21:32hockey on one roster. So that would be the only way.
- 21:36And he's going to learn from the best.
- 21:38And Rob Brindle, Moore is a good coach, so we'll see.
- 21:41So the just a quick a smaller trade.
- 21:44John Gibson goes from the Ducks to the Red Wings for their
- 21:46backup. Little goalie trade right there.
- 21:50Just quickly. Gibson definitely an upgrade.
- 21:53How much of an upgrade? Speedy.
- 21:54Enough where I think Detroit, they had flashes of good goalie
- 21:58play last year. Their offense was down at
- 22:00certain points. That was the reason they
- 22:01struggled in the first half of the season.
- 22:03They rallied back to again almost be a playoff team.
- 22:05They were in that cluster with the Rangers and the Islanders
- 22:08and the Canadians at the time. Their goalies choked at the end
- 22:12of the. Season, yeah, but they've always
- 22:13gone through this cycle. They they've tried to make it
- 22:15work. They gave the big money to the
- 22:17Jelkovic who had that Goodyear with Carolina, but he fell off.
- 22:20And this is the best chance that they have, though Gibson
- 22:22actually played really well when the Anaheim core got old.
- 22:25If he played better at that time, they might have won a Cup.
- 22:27It just again, he's still a steady guy, though.
- 22:29I like it. For Detroit.
- 22:29I like it for Detroit. And Stevie Eiserman knows what
- 22:32he's doing. Even though I can't stand the
- 22:33man. I met him a couple of times.
- 22:35He's a nasty piece. So you know what?
- 22:37I, I he he knows how to to build the team.
- 22:39He's won titles over there in Tampa.
- 22:42He built that Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay Lightning team.
- 22:45I don't think he gets enough credit that he should deserve.
- 22:48I think he's going to help this Detroit team be a contender once
- 22:52again. They have a lot of speed over
- 22:53there, a lot of youth over there, have a very good form
- 22:56system and John Gibson is a very underrate goaltender.
- 23:00I would say you can I actually put him in the top ten.
- 23:03I would put him 10 or 11 in on all of hockey.
- 23:07I think he's a steal. I think he's going to, he's
- 23:09going to help the Red Wings. Noah Dobson, I thought was
- 23:13supposed to be the future for the Islanders on the defense, on
- 23:15the blue line. They gave the money to the other
- 23:18guy that we just mentioned and they decided to trade him for
- 23:21the 16th and 17th picks, the 2025 draft in Montreal, who
- 23:26signed him to an 8 year, $76 million deal on the spot.
- 23:31Errol, this, this came out of nowhere for me.
- 23:34What? What's going on with this?
- 23:35Deal. I'll tell you why the Islanders
- 23:37did it and it's pretty obvious they were going with Schaefer no
- 23:40matter what. And I I do owe somebody a dinner
- 23:44because I did not think the Islanders were going to go that
- 23:47route, but they did. They brought in.
- 23:49Now, if it was anybody else besides Josh, I think they go
- 23:52with Misa. Misa is going to be a star in
- 23:54this league just as much as Schaefer is.
- 23:56But as soon as we heard it was a no brainer, they're going
- 23:59Schaefer, I knew Noah Dobson was on his way out.
- 24:02Noah Dobson is a great offensive defenseman.
- 24:05He is not a good defensive defenseman.
- 24:07Is he a top offensive defenseman, elite, Absolutely.
- 24:10He's going home. He's going to Montreal.
- 24:13Montreal giving up a 16 and a 17 for Noah Dobson.
- 24:16I think that's a reach. I think the Islanders slam dunk
- 24:19this trade. They were trying to move up for
- 24:21James Hagen. There were stories coming out
- 24:23they were trying to trade with Philadelphia.
- 24:25Philadelphia had no interest in trading with them.
- 24:27Higgins goes to Boston. But what a consolation prize
- 24:31bringing in the guys that they brought in.
- 24:32They brought one of the most underrated defenseman in this
- 24:35draft class. Canadian kid who how do you
- 24:38pronounce this? HSN agents in who?
- 24:40They think he hits like a rock and and a guy could score.
- 24:44He could do so many different things.
- 24:45You put him with Shaffer in the future, that's your first
- 24:48pairing for the future. 2 very good young defencemen.
- 24:51And then this other kid who fell, he was some people thought
- 24:55was a top ten pick offensively. His brother plays for the San
- 24:58Jose Sharks. He's a great player.
- 25:01They're saying that this kids better than his brother.
- 25:03So I, I mean, if this guy turns into a 3540 goal scorer, it's a
- 25:09slam dunk for the Islanders. This class for the New York
- 25:12Islanders, people are saying could change the franchise.
- 25:17They they didn't reach, they weren't surge, they were playing
- 25:21surgery with any of this. They picked the best guys
- 25:24available and they slam dunked on every single one of them.
- 25:28Every single one of the guys they picked in this year's class
- 25:30will be a part of that roster in the next three years.
- 25:33Yeah, they were talking about going back to HSN.
- 25:35They were talking about how obviously Shaffer was the number
- 25:37one defenseman, the one Buffalo drafted at #9 was thought it to
- 25:40be second and by him to be third and think it was a top ten
- 25:43possible value in that draft. And then they get Echlin, like
- 25:46you're saying, a kind of a different type of player than
- 25:49his brother. They're both kind of smaller on
- 25:51the smaller side, but still definitely room to grow in.
- 25:53Speed, great hands, sees the ice very, very well and they say
- 25:57stamina wise this guy could play a minute and 32nd shifts and not
- 26:02be tired. When you have a player like
- 26:03that, that's what you need defensively, you need that
- 26:06offensively. That is why I think the
- 26:08Islanders that first round was it was sensational for the New
- 26:12York. Island.
- 26:13Yeah, they were saying his brother too, like he doesn't
- 26:15have, I don't think the the raw speed, but he's a better creator
- 26:18with the puck and with his hands than his brother is.
- 26:20And again, it's still a lot of time to grow in his body and
- 26:23Tampa Bay his. Brother was there and said he's
- 26:25a better player than me. I mean, his brother comes out,
- 26:30he's a couple years older than him and it comes out and says
- 26:32his 18 year old brother is better than him already.
- 26:36That says a lot. I mean the again, he was a top
- 26:39ten pick. He fell out to 16.
- 26:42The Islanders were not reaching on that one guys.
- 26:45That was a great pick for the Islanders so.
- 26:48All right, let's finish this off.
- 26:49Talk about some free agent signings and new places.
- 26:53A couple of quick ones. Some veterans, Corey Perry and
- 26:56Cody CC find their way to Los Angeles to play for the Kings.
- 26:59The Red Wings take Van Reems Dyke and Patrick Kane, other
- 27:02great so that again, smart moves with some veteran talent.
- 27:06Michael Grandlin, 3 year, $21 million deal to go to the Ducks,
- 27:10who I don't expect to be good, but he's a good player and he
- 27:13got paid probably a little bit more than he was worth, but got
- 27:16paid. So the Ducks got him.
- 27:17And then there's the two big names.
- 27:19How does? Corey Perry still have a job in
- 27:21the NHL. He was awesome in the playoffs.
- 27:24How does this guy still have a job in the NHL?
- 27:26Fish, fish, place your future's bets.
- 27:28Now, do you forget what Corey Perry did?
- 27:30I mean, come on guys, don't, don't be lost on this.
- 27:34Scores goals, like what's his face for the Cowboys?
- 27:37Used to get to the quarterback. Didn't matter if he was doing
- 27:40stuff going on a bed of guns. Doing other things too.
- 27:43Fish place your your prop bets it out.
- 27:45Corey Perry's been 4 out of 5 Stanley Cup losing teams.
- 27:48You Kings win the Western Conference and lose at the
- 27:50Stanley Cup all. Right.
- 27:53Let's talk about the two defense.
- 27:54I'm going to get out of this Provirov to the blue jacket
- 27:59seven years, just under 60 million and the Rangers decide
- 28:03no to to key Andre Miller yes to Vlad Gavrakov stepped up big
- 28:09last year, I believe for the Kings dowdy out kind of took
- 28:13over the mantle and now he got paid for his effort.
- 28:16Seven years, 40. 9 I don't hate the move by the Rangers.
- 28:20I really don't, but Pravarov is to me what the Blue Jackets got
- 28:26from him. Yvonne Pravarov is the better of
- 28:28the defenseman, all right, and seven years, 59.5 million is a
- 28:32good deal for a top line defenseman.
- 28:36I again, I'm not doing this because I don't like the
- 28:39Rangers. I'm just doing it for what I
- 28:40know. The Rangers bring in free agent
- 28:43defencemen. They never pan out well, they
- 28:46never do. Go back and look at all the free
- 28:48agent defencemen they bring in. It doesn't work.
- 28:51So I wouldn't be surprised if they fall flat on their face
- 28:54with this. That's just my.
- 28:55Opinion. Well, it's interesting because I
- 28:56think the stylistic types of defencemen that they brought in
- 29:00in the past where they're going for more of the speed and
- 29:02offense have. I think Gavikov is a little more
- 29:04of the defensive type. He's great shot blocker, which I
- 29:06think the Rangers have definitely for a while.
- 29:08I think that's where I think the Rangers did well with value.
- 29:11I just worry about the the length when it comes to how
- 29:13injury prone he's been. He's 29 years old and with
- 29:15Columbus he was definitely very injury prone.
- 29:17It's funny because I wanted the Rangers to trade for him a
- 29:19couple years ago when he was with Columbus still before the
- 29:22Kings got him. But I I do think he's a great
- 29:25player for what they need. Great player.
- 29:27Because I think it's a good, it's a good counter for that
- 29:28first pair with Fox, who's wants to be more of that.
- 29:31I'll tell you this, this could seal the deal for Chris Drury if
- 29:35this doesn't work. Well, yeah, I'm not.
- 29:37I'm still not justifying that, OK?
- 29:39Chris Drury's going to be still thought of as anywhere close to
- 29:41a good GM by any means. I'm going to tell you this Chris
- 29:44crowd of going to Anaheim is a slam dunk.
- 29:45Yeah, I love the jerseys. Anybody see their New Jersey?
- 29:48The orange ones, yeah, fantastic.
- 29:50I want to get a pair. I'll buy the jersey just because
- 29:53I love the way it looks. As far as Proverov goes,
- 29:55Proverov is an interesting one because he's a very physical
- 29:58defenseman as well. He he's another guy that I think
- 30:01skating wise has started to regress a little, but he's still
- 30:03young enough where I think they can still make the seven-year
- 30:05deal work. They probably had to.
- 30:07He's a good. Player, He's a good player.
- 30:08I always liked him in Philly. I think again, he's trying to
- 30:11find that role with a new team could be hard.
- 30:13But again, Columbus, they're right on the cusp.
- 30:15Last year they were very close with a very good young team.
- 30:17Now they get a veteran guy to go along with a pretty young
- 30:19defensive core overall, and then obviously one of the best
- 30:22defenseman in the NHL. And Zach Renski kind of
- 30:24revitalized year last year after all the injuries he's had.
- 30:28Look, Errol, I think you just mentioned earlier that the
- 30:31Rangers decided to give away the pick this year so they'd have
- 30:36the pick next year. Think about what what Drury has
- 30:38to play with now. He's got 2 firsts and he's got 2
- 30:40seconds going into the draft. Even if like that pick doesn't
- 30:44turn into a top lottery pick, he's got 2 firsts and two
- 30:46seconds. Let me ask you a question for
- 30:47the trade deadline. Let me ask you a question.
- 30:49In all the drafts that Chris Trey has been there for, tell me
- 30:53one that really has stood out to be.
- 30:55Very no. He's going to trade the picks.
- 30:57He amasses them to trade them on guys that we lose after one
- 31:00year, and then he has to do it all.
- 31:01Over. I will say he he he's smart
- 31:04because next year's class is an absolute slam dunk.
- 31:07That's what they say for all offensive players.
- 31:09And the number one pick, we all know who he's going to be.
- 31:12He's the next Conor Mcdavin in the league.
- 31:14Everybody is going to want to be in that lottery to get a chance
- 31:17to land that kid. You saw the Islanders win from
- 31:20maybe a 12th or 3rd, 13th spot to the number one spot.
- 31:24They got that Shaffer who everybody thinks is going to be
- 31:26a star in the league. This guy is a home run, slam
- 31:30dunk, Grand Slam kind of guy. Everybody's going to want to be
- 31:33in that move, in that spot where they get a chance to get him.
- 31:36I know the Islanders aren't going to be good this year.
- 31:38They'll be right there maybe. And they have two first round
- 31:41draft picks this year, including Colorado's as well.
- 31:44So it's going to be interesting. And the Rangers.
- 31:46Rangers have 3. Yeah, maybe more than they could
- 31:48trade for with two and like like you're saying, fish and getting.
- 31:51Extra Gavin McKenna is the kids name.
- 31:54Dude, dude, McKenna, I've heard so many stories about this kid.
- 31:58He might even be better than Connor McDavid coming out going
- 32:01into the draft. That's how good this kid is.
- 32:04So it's sick. Go watch this.
- 32:07Video and listen to these stats from McKenna.
- 32:10Between regular season, playoffs and Memorial Cup, McKenna put up
- 32:13173 points in 76 games, 129 in the regular season.
- 32:20Is third amongst you under 18 players in the WHL.
- 32:25In the last 35 years, he had points in 54 consecutive games.
- 32:31He's ridiculous. He's going to be.
- 32:34Insane. He like he's going to be better
- 32:36than Bedard and when Bedard came he's been a bust and if I was?
- 32:40In a bad second year. If I was Chicago right now, if
- 32:43Bedard fails in Chicago this coming year at the trade
- 32:47deadline, get as much as you can for Bedard.
- 32:49Send him somewhere where he can develop because they're not
- 32:51developing him right. This guy has got an unbelievable
- 32:54shot and he really last year, what do you have?
- 32:5623 goals, 25 goals. This guy's a sniper.
- 32:59He had a low point total overall.
- 33:00Horrible. I mean, he has been.
- 33:02He's just like Alexis Lafenier. He was the number one.
- 33:05Picker better than Lafenier? Oh, he's better, but I really?
- 33:08Is he really? I don't know.
- 33:09He's. Not the all, he's not the all
- 33:10around player. He's got Lafenier.
- 33:12Spots. Though too.
- 33:13Not in Chicago, not in Chicago. That's all I'm going.
- 33:17To say all right guys, that's hockey for now.
- 33:18I'm sure we'll have more news going forwards.
- 33:21That was the offseason rounds I. I feel bad for Bedard because
- 33:25he's put in a really bad situation in Chicago and
- 33:28ownership. Any executives over there are
- 33:31betting on him to be the Patrick Kane or Jonathan Dames.
- 33:34He's not that type of guy. I, I, I don't think he's a
- 33:38leader. He's a quiet guy.
- 33:39Anybody that's checked out the documentaries about him over the
- 33:42last couple of years, you can see that he's not a big man.
- 33:46He is a decent skater. He's not a great skater.
- 33:48Unbelievable shot. But in hockey, you need speed.
- 33:52Hockey is different now than it ever has been.
- 33:55If you don't have the speed to keep up with some of these fast
- 33:58guys, it's like the Connor Mcdavid's, the Barzell's of the
- 34:00world and some of these younger guys that are just so fast.
- 34:03You're not going to be able to be that elite player that
- 34:05everybody thought you were going to be.
- 34:06But Dart could fix that. John Tavares did.
- 34:08He fixed it up and he he became a better skater.
- 34:11I just don't know in Chicago if it's going to work and he's
- 34:15still very young. Anyways.
- 34:16Ladies and gentlemen, our deuce of the day, The deuce of the
- 34:20day. You log not a log.
- 34:22I don't have a log but. No.
- 34:31Ladies and gentlemen, our deuce of the day.
- 34:33We were speaking about it yesterday.
- 34:35Thank you, Nathan, for reaching out to me and telling me.
- 34:37Guess who's coming out of retirement?
- 34:40Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Darren Waller has come out of
- 34:44retirement and was traded. Yes, the New York Giants traded
- 34:49him for a conditional pick to wear, ladies and gentlemen, the
- 34:53Miami Dolphins. So what is that spell?
- 34:57LOSER, Loser. Loser.
- 35:01Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have no idea why Miami even
- 35:07traded a pick. I don't even know what is the
- 35:09conditional pick is. It could be 1/4, a fifth.
- 35:11It doesn't really matter. Darren Waller has been out of
- 35:13league for a year. He wasn't the same player when
- 35:15he went to the Giants. The Giants couldn't keep him on
- 35:18the field for two years, more than 12 games.
- 35:20The guy is a waste. He.
- 35:22The story is great. This guy was an elite tight end
- 35:25for maybe two years. And then after that, he's
- 35:27completely disappeared. And now he wants to come back.
- 35:30Why? Because he had to pay his wife
- 35:31some money after they had a divorce.
- 35:34She, she's one of the best athletes we've seen in women's
- 35:37women's sports and she's not crying about it.
- 35:40But Darren Waller, his rapid career is completely over.
- 35:43So what is he going to do? He's going to come back to the
- 35:46NFL and try to make a statement with a comeback.
- 35:48But boy oh boy if anybody checked out his rapping it is
- 35:51one of the worst I I daytime. Hoops, Hoops said It was really
- 35:55good. He's horrible.
- 35:57He is horrible. Dame.
- 35:59I, if you want to hear an athlete rap, Dame's actually
- 36:02good. He's actually a pretty good
- 36:03rapper. He's been on with Jada Kiss,
- 36:05he's been on with a bunch of rappers.
- 36:06This guy, Darren Waller, he has been absolutely putrid.
- 36:11It's horrible. His career was one and done, but
- 36:14and I, I believe his comeback is going to be 1 and done.
- 36:17I don't think he's going to last the whole season because the guy
- 36:19can't stay healthy. So my deuce of the day goes to
- 36:22the terrible Miami Dolphins as they bring back the one and only
- 36:27Waller. And maybe it's not such a deuce
- 36:29to the Giants because they got something back for a guy that
- 36:32they didn't think was going to come back.
