- 0:04Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time presented by
- 0:07Speaker 1: prize picks. My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Wherever you get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:14Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:16Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. Thursdays with Charles McDonald. That's what we do.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And check him out on the athletic live show. Let
- 0:27Speaker 1: me talk about football and stuff. What's going on, man?
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm doing good out here in sunny Los Angeles now.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Last time I did this pod, I was definitely still
- 0:34Speaker 2: a New Yorker, but I got that text from Ryan
- 0:37Speaker 2: where he was like, you're on the West Coast, right?
- 0:39Speaker 2: I was like, yep. He was like, how does 9 a.m.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Pacific sound? I'm like, you know what? I'd be up anyway,
- 0:44Speaker 2: so it's all good.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It's all good. Guess what just happened to you? That
- 0:48Speaker 1: 9 just turned to 8 next time. Yeah. Look at
- 0:52Speaker 1: you being a grown up. Hell yeah.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I know. I know. But I was up hella early
- 0:58Speaker 2: today because I still haven't like I've been here for
- 1:00Speaker 2: like a month now, but I still haven't like fully,
- 1:02Speaker 2: fully adjusted. I'm still like somewhat living on East Coast
- 1:04Speaker 2: time doing NFL stuff. So I will say we like
- 1:07Speaker 2: to hear. These 8 a.m. Not 8 a.m., but the
- 1:10Speaker 2: game's ending at 8.30 p.m.
- 1:12Speaker 1: There's something to that, but I tell you this.
- 1:13Speaker 2: There's something to it, man.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I think the most overrated thing about living in California
- 1:17Speaker 1: is the 10 o'clock kickoffs on Sunday. Because if you
- 1:21Speaker 1: have anything to do, you can't.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. That's tough. The 10 a.m. Luckily, this is
- 1:28Speaker 2: my job. So I kind of have to come here regardless.
- 1:31Speaker 2: But the 9 a.m. kicks on Saturday really get me.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, if you got anything
- 1:36Speaker 1: else that you got to do, when you supposed to
- 1:38Speaker 1: do it? Right?
- 1:39Speaker 2: I'm not waking up at 7.30 on Saturday, you know?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah, like 7.30 on Saturday. No, we getting ready for
- 1:45Speaker 1: other things. You understand what I'm saying? But, you know,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I'm glad you're out there in L.A. doing you good.
- 1:50Speaker 1: We got NFL action to talk about. Lane Johnson retired
- 1:55Speaker 1: out of nowhere, and we're not going to tell any
- 1:57Speaker 1: jokes about that.
- 1:59Speaker 2: No, sir. Nothing funny about that.
- 2:00Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. I do want to say this
- 2:03Speaker 1: right fast, though. Those who follow me, Know my big thing.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I ain't going to lose it all over a joke.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I did a podcast the other day where I told
- 2:18Speaker 1: a very, very funny series of jokes about OJ Simpson.
- 2:23Speaker 1: One of them, perfectly permissible. The other one, little bit
- 2:27Speaker 1: on the line. I got a phone call, and they
- 2:29Speaker 1: were saying to me, or trying to break it to
- 2:32Speaker 1: me softly, that they were going to cut those jokes
- 2:34Speaker 1: out of the broadcast. I'm like, baby, you ain't got
- 2:36Speaker 1: to explain nothing to me. You ain't even have to
- 2:38Speaker 1: call me in the first place. If you think that
- 2:40Speaker 1: this wasn't worth the risk, it's all good, because we're
- 2:44Speaker 1: not going down over a joke. And I'll tell you
- 2:46Speaker 1: the first joke. The second one, I'll tell you later. Okay.
- 2:51Speaker 1: The first joke was simply this. We were talking about B.
- 2:54Speaker 1: John Robinson, and we were trying to figure out who
- 2:56Speaker 1: to comp with for B. John Robinson. And then I
- 2:58Speaker 1: let Jesus Christ himself. Then I let it sit for
- 3:00Speaker 1: a couple of beats. And then I stopped and was like, hey,
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'm just curious. If he reminded you of O.J. Simpson,
- 3:07Speaker 1: would you say it?
- 3:13Speaker 2: OK, see, I don't think that that's a bad.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Right, right, right, right, right, right.
- 3:16Speaker 2: It was OK.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It was OK. But it was OK. Now, the other one.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It just wasn't worth it is the point that I'm making, right?
- 3:26Speaker 1: And that's where Stephen A got himself in trouble. It
- 3:29Speaker 1: just wasn't worth it. He was trying to make the point, man,
- 3:32Speaker 1: things so bad in Philadelphia that dot, dot, dot. And
- 3:35Speaker 1: all people heard was mental health joke. They didn't. He
- 3:42Speaker 1: tried to come back and be like, yo, y'all misconstrued
- 3:45Speaker 1: what I was saying. That's not the point. That's not it.
- 3:48Speaker 2: That's not the point. The first one's fine. When I
- 3:53Speaker 2: used to do Football 301 with Nate, when we were
- 3:57Speaker 2: doing the Harold Fannin draft, he was coming out of
- 4:00Speaker 2: Bowling Green, got drafted by the Browns. I compared him
- 4:01Speaker 2: to Aaron Hernandez, and I was like, look, I'm not
- 4:04Speaker 2: saying he's a murderer, but have you seen this boy play?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Stephen A got caught up. One of my friends who's
- 4:13Speaker 2: a comic was watching that video, and he was like, oh, man,
- 4:15Speaker 2: Stephen A was doing crowd work.
- 4:19Speaker 1: That would be a ride we're talking about. There's nothing
- 4:22Speaker 1: harder than comedy, right? Like I have made the decision
- 4:28Speaker 1: before I got here that I'm going to tell a
- 4:32Speaker 1: joke and that joke is going to land. I used
- 4:36Speaker 1: to work with somebody who didn't understand no matter how
- 4:39Speaker 1: many times you do this in the mirror, you're not
- 4:42Speaker 1: going to find out if it worked until it's too late, right?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Like you can't do that. And I saw where he
- 4:49Speaker 1: was going. I saw what he was going for. And
- 4:51Speaker 1: it was like... As you look around, and there's no
- 4:54Speaker 1: worse feeling in this world from doing game theory, I
- 4:57Speaker 1: realize this, right? Because, like, I think I'm funny, but
- 5:01Speaker 1: it's fair to say I'm not quite a professional, right?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Trying to get there. The biggest problem I'd have with
- 5:07Speaker 1: being a professional, when you have your DMX moment, when
- 5:11Speaker 1: a brother told a joke. And if people didn't laugh,
- 5:16Speaker 1: it was the worst feeling in the world. Stephen A
- 5:21Speaker 1: had that happening to him in real time. He's getting
- 5:24Speaker 1: looks from everybody in front of him, but he's in
- 5:27Speaker 1: too deep.
- 5:28Speaker 2: He cannot stop.
- 5:29Speaker 1: He has to keep going. And then they came and
- 5:32Speaker 1: tried to give him a little, hey, we're not going
- 5:33Speaker 1: to joke about that. And he was like, but I am.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Hear me out.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Everyone else is in such a bad spot, though, because
- 5:44Speaker 2: you can't laugh. You also can't tell him to shut up. No, no, no, no.
- 5:48Speaker 1: And you can't do what's probably best, which is this
- 5:51Speaker 1: one right here. Just cover your face. Check your phone.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You know, just be like, hey, we're going to talk
- 6:01Speaker 1: about something else. We're going to, you know, just right here. Hey, hey, hey,
- 6:05Speaker 1: let's not talk about that.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Easy, easy, easy.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Easy, big dog. Easy, easy, big dog. But anyway, we
- 6:14Speaker 1: told jokes about somebody telling jokes that they should not
- 6:16Speaker 1: have told, but we're not telling the joke. It's very delicate.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's a game. It's a line, but it ain't straight.
- 6:22Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying, right? That's what this is.
- 6:25Speaker 1: All the same, Lane Johnson did stop playing football, which
- 6:28Speaker 1: is not something that the Eagles had planned on on
- 6:31Speaker 1: an offensive line that already is not as good as
- 6:35Speaker 1: we have remembered it being, along with everything else that
- 6:40Speaker 1: is going on. Me and Ryan talk all the time
- 6:43Speaker 1: about how this team shouldn't be so entertaining and it
- 6:45Speaker 1: shouldn't always, if it ain't one thing, it's another with them.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And now it's another. And the Jalen Hurts talk feels
- 6:52Speaker 1: like it's going to get louder. And it's, it's, it's, it's,
- 6:56Speaker 1: it's who boy, they keep it.
- 6:59Speaker 2: That's it. They are better.
- 7:00Speaker 1: They might be better for business than the Cowboys.
- 7:03Speaker 2: No, I mean, they might be now. And I think
- 7:05Speaker 2: that the entertaining point is interesting because they have reached
- 7:08Speaker 2: a point where they're only entertaining like off the field, right?
- 7:13Speaker 2: If you watch that Eagles-Rams game on Sunday, the Eagles
- 7:17Speaker 2: had a touchdown drive of like less than 20 yards
- 7:20Speaker 2: and a touchdown drive of like less than 40 yards.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Other than that, it was punt, punt, punt, punt, punt,
- 7:24Speaker 2: three and out, three and out. So like the drama
- 7:26Speaker 2: has gotten to a point where it's, absolutely superseded the
- 7:29Speaker 2: actual product on the field, which is never a good thing,
- 7:32Speaker 2: you know? Because at least like when, you know, you
- 7:35Speaker 2: had the A.J. Brown stuff where he was, you know,
- 7:38Speaker 2: being A.J. Brown, for all good and all bad that
- 7:41Speaker 2: that is, at least y'all were scoring points. Y'all were
- 7:43Speaker 2: putting up touchdowns, and it was fun to watch. Like, I...
- 7:48Speaker 2: If someday it's, like, a glimpse at what Lane Johnson-less
- 7:51Speaker 2: offense looks like for the Eagles for the rest of
- 7:54Speaker 2: the season, that's, like, barely a watchable product. And, like,
- 7:57Speaker 2: the Jalen Hurts noise, it's just gonna have to get louder,
- 8:00Speaker 2: even though I kind of think he's just been this
- 8:02Speaker 2: guy the whole time. And I don't... Like, see, I'm
- 8:06Speaker 2: at the part with Jalen Hurts where I'm like... Okay, like,
- 8:08Speaker 2: are we going to do this after every bad game
- 8:10Speaker 2: he has? Because this is just kind of what he is.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yes, the answer to the question is yes, because now
- 8:16Speaker 1: is the time that they need a quarterback that is
- 8:20Speaker 1: a value add. Or like you said.
- 8:24Speaker 2: The other day, overcome. You know, can overcome the stuff
- 8:26Speaker 2: around him.
- 8:27Speaker 1: When they're really good, he can ride the wave. Right now,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it appears that he might be drowning.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Right. And this is where I was always kind of
- 8:34Speaker 2: dubious of him. I was like, okay, obviously if you
- 8:36Speaker 2: put a team around him, and I mean a really
- 8:39Speaker 2: good team around him, you can get to two Super
- 8:40Speaker 2: Bowls in four years and win one of them and
- 8:42Speaker 2: almost win the other. And I still think that first
- 8:45Speaker 2: Super Bowl they played against Kansas City. It's one of the,
- 8:48Speaker 2: it's one of the, it's probably the best game he's
- 8:49Speaker 2: ever played in his career outside of like the, the
- 8:51Speaker 2: fumble six. That was just a disaster. But ever since then,
- 8:54Speaker 2: like he hit that peak and just kind of gotten
- 8:57Speaker 2: down and down and down and down and down. And
- 8:59Speaker 2: he's not really like the same rushy threat that he
- 9:01Speaker 2: used to be. So you kind of watch these games
- 9:03Speaker 2: and you're like, well, What do you do here, man? Like,
- 9:07Speaker 2: if you're not going to be like the rushing threat
- 9:09Speaker 2: that we were, that could actually scare defenses, if you're
- 9:12Speaker 2: not going to be this guy who's really going to
- 9:13Speaker 2: throw in the run and be a big play threat,
- 9:17Speaker 2: it just kind of becomes this nothing offense where, I mean,
- 9:22Speaker 2: not only do you have... what, 93 passing yards on Sunday,
- 9:26Speaker 2: but he got sacked for 25 yards. So you had
- 9:29Speaker 2: 68 total net passing yards for a whole game of football.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Then he had last year, he had two separate games
- 9:35Speaker 2: where he went a full half with zero passing yards.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I mean, this is just kind of what it is
- 9:40Speaker 2: at this point. And I don't think that people have
- 9:42Speaker 2: kind of caught up to, Oh no, like he's just
- 9:44Speaker 2: a guy that you can win with if you have
- 9:47Speaker 2: a really good team around him. But Like, to say
- 9:50Speaker 2: that he's going to sit here and elevate the rest
- 9:52Speaker 2: of this roster, I mean, he would have done that
- 9:54Speaker 2: by now already. where it's not like we're new to
- 9:56Speaker 2: Jalen hurts, you know.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Let me throw some out here for you, um, about him.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Cause he's 28 now.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:04Speaker 1: He's a sneaky, not that young guy anymore. You're talking about,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you know, the rushing threat part. I am going to
- 10:11Speaker 1: add up for you, um, rushing attempts and sacks between
- 10:18Speaker 1: college and and the pros what do you think that number.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Is who between college and the pros i mean it's
- 10:29Speaker 2: it's probably like 1500 1600 it is 1609 whoa that's
- 10:31Speaker 2: a good guess 1609 and that's before.
- 10:32Speaker 1: We add in the postseason stuff okay um all i'm
- 10:35Speaker 1: saying is that dude i took a that's miles.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 1: You know, he's not he has not played like a
- 10:51Speaker 1: Cam Newton career where that was basically the career arc
- 10:54Speaker 1: of a running back just because of the nature of
- 10:56Speaker 1: how they did it. And I imagine a lot of
- 10:58Speaker 1: these carries are the booty play, you know, where they
- 11:01Speaker 1: where he get up there and then he get up
- 11:02Speaker 1: on somebody and somebody get up on his booty. And
- 11:05Speaker 1: then they just be booty bumping all the way to,
- 11:07Speaker 1: you know, to get it in the hole, so to speak.
- 11:12Speaker 2: That certainly has been for a.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Lot of touchdowns I loved that moment that awkward moment
- 11:18Speaker 1: of I couldn't tell if it was a delay like
- 11:21Speaker 1: what the fuck am I supposed to say about that.
- 11:24Speaker 2: No I think it was a little bit of a delay.
- 11:28Speaker 1: On my end I was in the DMX zone I
- 11:31Speaker 1: was looking up at you and I was like nah
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna just let this sit let this make it
- 11:38Speaker 1: make this a little worse.
- 11:41Speaker 2: That was a delay on my end. The aging conversation
- 11:45Speaker 2: is kind of funny sometimes. I think people don't realize
- 11:49Speaker 2: how much time we have spent watching these guys play football.
- 11:53Speaker 2: You brought it back to Jalen Hurts in college. That
- 11:55Speaker 2: was like 10 years ago.
- 11:56Speaker 1: This is the 11th year of us knowing who Jalen
- 11:59Speaker 1: Hurts is.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And you know, like one of my buddies was texting
- 12:03Speaker 2: me last week. He was like, yo, like what's up
- 12:05Speaker 2: with Saquon Barkley? Like he's carried the ball 2000 times
- 12:08Speaker 2: in the NFL.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Like, yo, it's like, it's crazy how people have completely
- 12:12Speaker 1: forgotten how aging works that we have these outlier Tom Brady,
- 12:15Speaker 1: LeBron James, like same thing with Aaron Rodgers at this point,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers is cooked. Why? Cause Aaron Rodgers is 43
- 12:20Speaker 1: years old. What is he doing here? Unless you throw
- 12:24Speaker 1: a knuckle ball, you're not supposed to still be throwing.
- 12:28Speaker 2: No, Aaron's like he's not even having a good time anymore.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Oh, why are you here?
- 12:32Speaker 2: Why are you here? Is barking at Mike McCarthy better
- 12:37Speaker 2: than what you could have been doing?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Well, I'm looking at both of them. Like you guys
- 12:41Speaker 1: both opted into this. Neither of you had to do this.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I don't get it. But like sticking with the Eagles,
- 12:49Speaker 2: like I don't see where– where this is supposed to
- 12:53Speaker 2: get better this year. And it seems like they know
- 12:55Speaker 2: it's not going to get better this year. Because anytime
- 12:58Speaker 2: you see a GM that has job security that's able
- 13:01Speaker 2: to plan for the future, they got two first-round picks
- 13:04Speaker 2: next year. They got a second second-round pick now in 2028.
- 13:08Speaker 2: after trading cam jurgens which look i know cam jurgens
- 13:11Speaker 2: hasn't been good this year but that means someone worse
- 13:13Speaker 2: than cam.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yo i was just thinking that your offensive line is
- 13:16Speaker 1: not good and you traded an offensive lineman and howie
- 13:19Speaker 1: roseman's thing was it's like we got four players for
- 13:22Speaker 1: one but what about right.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Now right now right yeah well right now i i
- 13:27Speaker 2: think they're kind of i think at least howie is
- 13:29Speaker 2: saying and look you can say oh you know we're
- 13:32Speaker 2: we're in on this year our goals for this year
- 13:34Speaker 2: haven't changed but bro look at this team Yes, they have.
- 13:37Speaker 2: They obviously have.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Well, tell me this. How is their defense this year?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Because I feel like all we and we mean people
- 13:44Speaker 1: on my like my my portion of this industry. We
- 13:47Speaker 1: spend so much time talking about the offense. I don't
- 13:49Speaker 1: have a great handle on what this defense is. It
- 13:51Speaker 1: doesn't look like the defense that didn't rush Patrick Mahomes,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but it still looked like they had 15 people on
- 13:56Speaker 1: the field.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah, they were getting better. I think maybe they just
- 14:02Speaker 2: had some roughs earlier in the season where they weren't
- 14:04Speaker 2: playing all that well, or at least not up to
- 14:06Speaker 2: their standard. But I mean, last week against the Rams,
- 14:08Speaker 2: that was the only reason why they were able to
- 14:10Speaker 2: stay in that game and able to get some of
- 14:12Speaker 2: those touchdown drives that were right next to the end zone.
- 14:14Speaker 2: That is the only way they can score these touchdowns now.
- 14:17Speaker 2: So I think the defense will probably be pretty good
- 14:19Speaker 2: by the end of the season, which means you're You're playing, like,
- 14:21Speaker 2: the worst brand of football. Good defense, bad offense. Like,
- 14:25Speaker 2: every game is just going to be an absolute rock fight. And, like,
- 14:29Speaker 2: to their credit, it took Matthew Stafford, like, what, like,
- 14:32Speaker 2: 52 attempts to get to 24 points last week. And
- 14:36Speaker 2: if you just got anything from the offense, they probably
- 14:38Speaker 2: would have won that game. So I think the defense
- 14:40Speaker 2: will probably get better. Definitely not as stalwart as they
- 14:43Speaker 2: used to be. But, like... The Eagles, if you just
- 14:47Speaker 2: look at their drive chart from that game, they had
- 14:50Speaker 2: a field goal drive that was 12 plays, 29 yards.
- 14:53Speaker 2: How is that possible? That's what I'm saying. I don't
- 14:59Speaker 2: get it. All they're doing is punting and field goals,
- 15:01Speaker 2: and if they can get the ball on the 20-yard line,
- 15:03Speaker 2: maybe they can score a touchdown. But right now, I'm
- 15:08Speaker 2: worried for Eagles fans because I don't know if they
- 15:09Speaker 2: can handle something that's going to look this ugly.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Well, have you seen the Sirianni? They're only going to London.
- 15:15Speaker 1: They're tally-hoing this weekend, and they're not leaving until Friday
- 15:19Speaker 1: to get there. And All I'm saying is this. The Jaguars,
- 15:25Speaker 1: they tally-ho every year. I would probably just do what
- 15:28Speaker 1: they do. Now, I generally don't think do as the
- 15:30Speaker 1: Jaguars do is an appropriate team-building mantra. But at the
- 15:35Speaker 1: same time, I feel like if they get in there early,
- 15:39Speaker 1: you should probably get there early. And I'm looking at Sirianni,
- 15:42Speaker 1: who is so easy to question. Just everything about him.
- 15:45Speaker 1: He begs for your skepticism. If I was a man
- 15:52Speaker 1: like that, you can't be making decisions for so much
- 15:56Speaker 1: based on outside noise. But if I was him, this
- 15:59Speaker 1: is some noise that I don't necessarily need. Let's just
- 16:02Speaker 1: go a little bit earlier, right? He really don't care
- 16:05Speaker 1: what we think.
- 16:06Speaker 2: No, he doesn't at all. He got his big security
- 16:09Speaker 2: guard walking around him all the time. Like, that's not
- 16:11Speaker 2: the weirdest thing in the world. Big Dom's the only
- 16:15Speaker 2: security guy in the NFL that I actively know who
- 16:18Speaker 2: they are, but I guess that's what Sirianni's program is
- 16:20Speaker 2: all about. The only thing, like, I used to be
- 16:24Speaker 2: kind of like a not... contrarian pro sirianni but just
- 16:28Speaker 2: like bro they've won so many games like he's got
- 16:30Speaker 2: to be good at something and then you just watch
- 16:33Speaker 2: the you and then you actually watch like the actual
- 16:36Speaker 2: games and it's just it's just dysfunctional and now now
- 16:40Speaker 2: like he's he's kind of in the same boat as
- 16:42Speaker 2: jalen hurts although i think people have been out on
- 16:45Speaker 2: sirianni for a while which is wild to say like
- 16:47Speaker 2: a team that has had this much success where you
- 16:50Speaker 2: got to two superbowls in four years you you had
- 16:53Speaker 2: you You force Patrick Mahomes to play the worst game
- 16:56Speaker 2: of his life, maybe, like, going back to college, too,
- 16:59Speaker 2: and no one's like, man, this head coach and quarterback, like,
- 17:02Speaker 2: they really got it. Like, this is something you can
- 17:03Speaker 2: build around for a long time. But the Sirianni stuff,
- 17:07Speaker 2: I just don't... I don't really know anymore, like, what
- 17:09Speaker 2: he does, because he doesn't call plays. He never... He
- 17:12Speaker 2: didn't even call plays with the Colts when he was, like, hired.
- 17:15Speaker 2: So he was, like, hired as a non-play calling OC. Then,
- 17:18Speaker 2: you know, they hired Sean Mannion this year, which is, like, why?
- 17:23Speaker 2: Why did he.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I know he was like, he was like their fourth
- 17:26Speaker 2: or fifth choice for the job, which says enough in
- 17:29Speaker 2: its own right. Cause if this team was like actually good,
- 17:31Speaker 2: this team was actually in a good place. You would
- 17:33Speaker 2: think you would have people lining up to go take
- 17:35Speaker 2: that job. Cause I mean, Kellen Moore got a head
- 17:37Speaker 2: coach job off of it. They had right. They had.
- 17:41Speaker 2: players at some point but i think i think it's
- 17:44Speaker 2: just gotten to be so bad that howie is kind
- 17:46Speaker 2: of looking at like all right maybe we eat it
- 17:48Speaker 2: this year y'all might not have job security but i
- 17:51Speaker 2: got job security so we're gonna figure out what's going
- 17:54Speaker 2: on after this season's up.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Uh by the way you mentioned weird things i'm curious
- 17:58Speaker 1: your take on this because i found that i have
- 18:00Speaker 1: an outlier opinion on something that i thought i would
- 18:03Speaker 1: have people behind me on um An NFL owner on
- 18:09Speaker 1: the sideline with a headset asking people questions during the
- 18:12Speaker 1: game is weird to me. I've never seen anything like
- 18:16Speaker 1: it before. I would hate it if I was trying
- 18:19Speaker 1: to do my job and the boss is asking me
- 18:22Speaker 1: how this thing works. There has to be another way
- 18:24Speaker 1: to learn the game. Now, it appears Steve Holder has
- 18:28Speaker 1: written about this. Other people have that people with the Colts,
- 18:31Speaker 1: they say they're OK with it. They say it runs smooth. Okay,
- 18:34Speaker 1: that's fine. But we have got to get out of
- 18:36Speaker 1: this world where there's something wrong with you for thinking
- 18:41Speaker 1: that this looks a bit meddlesome. If they can handle it,
- 18:43Speaker 1: that's fine. I know. I'm trying to imagine if my
- 18:46Speaker 1: CEO was sitting next to Ryan, tapping him on the shoulder,
- 18:50Speaker 1: asking him, all right, so what's that hand signal he
- 18:52Speaker 1: just gave you? Oh, okay. But I just don't know.
- 19:00Speaker 2: If I look now, I, I, the, the, the funny
- 19:03Speaker 2: thing to me where, uh, and I, I don't really
- 19:06Speaker 2: have a, I don't, I don't, I, I, I look,
- 19:08Speaker 2: I think it's strange too. Like I don't see any
- 19:11Speaker 2: other owners doing this. Um, you know, if this is
- 19:14Speaker 2: how she wants to learn about the game, she, I
- 19:17Speaker 2: guess she's on to check. So yeah. That's fine. But
- 19:20Speaker 2: I do think it's funny. And not to poo-poo on
- 19:23Speaker 2: anyone's reporting, but if I was Shane Steigen and somebody
- 19:27Speaker 2: asked me that I knew was going to go to
- 19:30Speaker 2: the public and give my response to this, yeah. I'm
- 19:34Speaker 2: cool with that.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Of course. Of course.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I'm cool with that. I don't think that what he
- 19:39Speaker 2: says actually matters all that much. You can make your
- 19:42Speaker 2: own decision about like how you feel about, you know, uh, uh, uh,
- 19:47Speaker 2: I forget her name, Carly or say Gordon. Yeah. On the,
- 19:50Speaker 2: on the sidelines. Um, I, but like, there's no other
- 19:54Speaker 2: owner doing it, you know, there's no, and that's why
- 19:57Speaker 2: it's worth pointing out. Like, Hey, that's, that's, that's different.
- 20:00Speaker 2: You know, it's different than we normally see.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Is this misogyny is a fair question. Um, Yes, I agree.
- 20:07Speaker 1: To start off with that question, it's fair. I have
- 20:09Speaker 1: seen multiple people on the internet say, more people have
- 20:13Speaker 1: something to say about this than an owner getting caught
- 20:15Speaker 1: for prostitution.
- 20:16Speaker 2: And I'm like.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. First of all, what's your algorithm? Because
- 20:23Speaker 1: we had quite a time with that, number one. And
- 20:25Speaker 1: number two, I'm telling you right now, if they put
- 20:28Speaker 1: his ass on the sideline every week and had the
- 20:30Speaker 1: camera on him, you would see prostitution jokes every week.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Every week.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Especially if he was picking up the prostitute every week.
- 20:38Speaker 1: You would hear about it every week. Every week, this
- 20:40Speaker 1: thing that seems a little odd. I don't see anybody
- 20:43Speaker 1: really mad about it. Just as much like, I don't
- 20:46Speaker 1: think I'd like that.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's different. And, like, also, like, I remember when... And,
- 20:51Speaker 2: you know, she's not, like, quite the first owner, because
- 20:55Speaker 2: I remember, like, Tom Brady had a headset on.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Which.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I guess he got a pass because he's Tom Brady.
- 21:00Speaker 2: But even then, I was like, what?
- 21:01Speaker 1: We asked questions about that.
- 21:02Speaker 2: We did ask questions about that. I was like, that's
- 21:04Speaker 2: a little strange.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And he's in the booth.
- 21:07Speaker 2: He's in the booth, right. He's in the booth. He's
- 21:10Speaker 2: an owner of the team. He's not a coach. He's
- 21:12Speaker 2: not a player. Why is he on the headset? Like,
- 21:14Speaker 2: what's he actually doing? So I do think in that sense, like,
- 21:17Speaker 2: it's fair to bring the same questions here. But people
- 21:22Speaker 2: got mad and they started throwing around, you know. Some
- 21:26Speaker 2: accusations at people.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Yeah, like I'm saying, it's perfectly, it's a fair question.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Their question about whether misogyny is fair. It's a legitimate
- 21:34Speaker 1: discussion to be had that doesn't really require casting judgment
- 21:38Speaker 1: on anyone. She just wants to learn. See, to me,
- 21:41Speaker 1: that's patronizing. Right? Like the, how else is she supposed
- 21:45Speaker 1: to learn the game? Charles, did you learn the game
- 21:46Speaker 1: by standing on an NFL sideline and asking questions at
- 21:49Speaker 1: the same time?
- 21:50Speaker 2: No, but you can ask questions at any other time.
- 21:53Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying is that we're all about a
- 21:57Speaker 1: thirst for knowledge here, right? That's kind of how this
- 22:00Speaker 1: show works. You just ain't got to do it while
- 22:02Speaker 1: they're at the job. You know what it feels like?
- 22:05Speaker 1: It feels like a ride-along. The new mayor doing a ride-along.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yeah, everything's going great. We love this.
- 22:15Speaker 1: We love having the mayor. And new cops are in
- 22:17Speaker 1: there like, Look, man, we're going to have to go
- 22:19Speaker 1: fuck this dude up over here. Can you keep the
- 22:22Speaker 1: mayor over there while we, you know, excuse me, Mr.
- 22:27Speaker 1: or Madam Mayor. we got to go handle something. You
- 22:31Speaker 1: don't want to know about this.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Right. Like what you don't need to do is stick
- 22:34Speaker 1: it ahead in the blue tent. Hey, what you guys
- 22:36Speaker 1: doing in here?
- 22:39Speaker 2: The thing is like, you're never going to get a
- 22:41Speaker 2: fully honest answer from, from anyone. Like she, she, she
- 22:46Speaker 2: signs their texts, bro. Why, why would I tell the
- 22:48Speaker 2: truth about how I actually feel about that?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Nope.
- 22:50Speaker 2: It's fine. And, and like, honestly, the truth is it
- 22:52Speaker 2: probably doesn't impact any, uh, decision over the course of
- 22:56Speaker 2: a game no like if she if she's learning like
- 23:00Speaker 2: what this stuff is and obviously she's not in a
- 23:02Speaker 2: space to say hey shane like you need to do
- 23:05Speaker 2: this call this player or run this personnel but she's
- 23:08Speaker 2: still there you know and that that is a different
- 23:11Speaker 2: work environment than the other coaches are.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It's it doesn't appear to be desirable i think but
- 23:18Speaker 1: they say it's okay i don't think i would like
- 23:20Speaker 1: it i think we're all safe there right teach tweets
- 23:23Speaker 1: around uh now changing gears we got seattle and uh
- 23:31Speaker 1: san francisco coming up this guy where are you right
- 23:35Speaker 1: now on the uh 49ers because i think they played
- 23:39Speaker 1: what i considered their first real game last week and
- 23:42Speaker 1: they won um oh by the way sean payton finally
- 23:47Speaker 1: did you have week five on your card.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I thought it was going to be around week four
- 23:53Speaker 2: or week five.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yes, week five. And for those who haven't heard, Sean Payton,
- 23:56Speaker 1: let me get the sticks back. He has told Davis
- 24:00Speaker 1: Webb to pass the sticks, and he will get back
- 24:03Speaker 1: to calling the plays.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got a little bit of a... well maybe
- 24:08Speaker 2: a craving point of view on that i i and
- 24:11Speaker 2: this is this could be completely wrong but i'm just
- 24:13Speaker 2: throwing out my theory here uh because it seemed like
- 24:16Speaker 2: davis webb was going to leave if he wasn't able
- 24:18Speaker 2: to call plays this year was this just sean just
- 24:21Speaker 2: like getting around i don't feel like hiring a new
- 24:24Speaker 2: offensive coordinator yeah i'll let you get the keys for
- 24:26Speaker 2: a few games oh you're trapped here and now no
- 24:28Speaker 2: one wants to hire you you know because i've gone
- 24:30Speaker 2: and pulled the kid you're the new car michael new
- 24:33Speaker 2: pete carmichael right that's exactly what he needed his new
- 24:37Speaker 2: pete carmichael he had.
- 24:39Speaker 1: All these offense guys who never called plays dan campbell
- 24:42Speaker 1: was on that same list there i.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Forgot about pete carmichael yeah that he's got his new
- 24:47Speaker 2: pete carmichael where you say go ahead and sit there
- 24:50Speaker 2: for about 10 15 years you're gonna make a whole
- 24:52Speaker 2: lot of money but like This is it for you.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And Pete seemed okay with that because I'm pretty sure
- 24:59Speaker 2: Pete's still coaching.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I think he's still in New Orleans, right?
- 25:02Speaker 2: I know he's the offensive coordinator for Buffalo now.
- 25:06Speaker 1: With Joe Brady. Joe Brady's like, I need an offensive
- 25:11Speaker 1: coordinator who's okay with not calling plays.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Pete said that you got my routing info, right?
- 25:16Speaker 1: Right, right, right, right. He's like, you know what? That
- 25:19Speaker 1: sounds like stress. That just sounds like a lot of
- 25:25Speaker 1: stress that I don't need.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:28Speaker 1: But with Seattle, I think it's worth noting Seattle, the
- 25:31Speaker 1: game they lost. They lost it in large part because
- 25:33Speaker 1: Stan Darnold was not playing particularly well in that game
- 25:36Speaker 1: against Washington. There is a ceiling on that guy, no
- 25:39Speaker 1: matter what anybody tries to tell me. There's there. But
- 25:43Speaker 1: they still feel like bosses. This is still the team
- 25:47Speaker 1: that won the Super Bowl last year. How do you
- 25:50Speaker 1: think this one goes? They got the game at home.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Man, this is tough. Because the 49ers, that offense is...
- 25:57Speaker 2: It's insane right now. And, like, they also got, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 2: a little bit more, like, a continued, like, proof that
- 26:04Speaker 2: this works to a high level going against Denver last week,
- 26:07Speaker 2: which their defense has had a tough... I would say
- 26:10Speaker 2: they have a tough test of offense to start the season.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Kansas City, Jacksonville, the Rams, and then the 49ers for
- 26:16Speaker 2: Denver to start the season.
- 26:18Speaker 1: So.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I don't think, like, any numbers you see necessarily reflect, like, oh, like,
- 26:22Speaker 2: this defense has really fallen off. Still a good unit. Like,
- 26:25Speaker 2: they still can give teams some headaches. And the fact
- 26:27Speaker 2: that the 49ers were able to do this while not
- 26:30Speaker 2: being at full power is kind of really impressive. And
- 26:35Speaker 2: I get worried about the injuries sometimes, but so far, like,
- 26:38Speaker 2: they still have most of their main guys that are
- 26:40Speaker 2: supposed to be here on the team. They've had some
- 26:43Speaker 2: injuries at wide receiver, but... He's still got Kittle, still
- 26:45Speaker 2: got Mike Evans out there. Debo Samuel looks like 80%
- 26:51Speaker 2: of what he used to be the last time he
- 26:52Speaker 2: was in here, which is obviously still a really useful player.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I think I'm just kind of at the point with
- 26:57Speaker 2: Kyle Shanahan where it's like, I trust you to score
- 27:01Speaker 2: against just about every team, but then also Seattle did
- 27:05Speaker 2: absolutely hammer them when they played them last year. And
- 27:08Speaker 2: it wasn't just in the playoffs. It's also at the
- 27:09Speaker 2: end of the season too. And I think there is
- 27:12Speaker 2: a lot to say about the Seattle front on defense
- 27:15Speaker 2: specifically where they're like, they're just going to beat the
- 27:18Speaker 2: crap out of every one they play. And while like,
- 27:20Speaker 2: like the 49ers, like they got a good scheme and
- 27:22Speaker 2: we got like some quality players up front. Obviously Trent
- 27:24Speaker 2: Williams is great. It's not like the total cohesive unit
- 27:27Speaker 2: that you would need to actually just blow these guys
- 27:29Speaker 2: off the ball. So I, I think it could still
- 27:31Speaker 2: get buddy for the 49ers and where that scares me
- 27:34Speaker 2: is I, I'm not a believer in this 49ers defense.
- 27:38Speaker 2: really like at all. I think Arizona kind of exposed
- 27:40Speaker 2: them on the flip side and, and Sam Donald, he
- 27:44Speaker 2: hasn't had a, he hasn't had like a perfect season,
- 27:47Speaker 2: but that scheme is really good. And obviously Jason is
- 27:50Speaker 2: really good. So I think that they have enough to
- 27:53Speaker 2: score a whole bunch of points on the 49ers defense.
- 27:55Speaker 2: I still think Seattle is a better team overall, but
- 27:57Speaker 2: Kyle man, Kyle's in his bag right now. Like I,
- 27:59Speaker 2: I get and see why they're four. No, but I
- 28:02Speaker 2: still think Seattle might be a class above them just
- 28:04Speaker 2: because they can play with level of physicality that, The
- 28:07Speaker 2: 49ers don't always do.
- 28:08Speaker 1: All right. Coming up next, Charles McDonald on that narcotic.
- 28:11Speaker 1: We're going to find out how he felt after that

- 30:51Speaker 1: The Athletic Live. Check him out Monday night. I don't
- 30:56Speaker 1: know if you understand this in the detailed way of me,
- 30:58Speaker 1: is that I got off that narcotic. I ain't about
- 31:02Speaker 1: that Atlanta Falcons life.
- 31:04Speaker 2: You didn't feel nothing on Monday? You didn't feel nothing?
- 31:05Speaker 1: I still hate the Saints. That part remains, right?
- 31:11Speaker 2: Where's Ryan Brumley?
- 31:13Speaker 1: Ryan Brumley. Ryan Brumley's over there. I don't hate the
- 31:16Speaker 1: Saints so much to taunt him because it's unfair because
- 31:18Speaker 1: you can't say nothing to me about the Falcons because
- 31:20Speaker 1: they just don't care, right? I simply hate the Saints.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And I, you know, my guys, the Detroit Lions, we
- 31:29Speaker 1: got that. But anyway, what I did feel, like imagine
- 31:34Speaker 1: what it's like for me. I quit Texas and I
- 31:38Speaker 1: quit the Falcons. However, I never told no lie about Bijan.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Bijan.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Bijan. Bijan unfortunately brought in the wrong era. You know
- 31:50Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Because he would be everybody's favorite player
- 31:53Speaker 1: if he had hit the league even 20 years ago.
- 31:56Speaker 1: My goodness. He ain't even running hard out there.
- 31:59Speaker 2: No, he makes it look so easy. Like, so easy.
- 32:02Speaker 2: He's on pace for... I know it's early. I know
- 32:05Speaker 2: it's early, but he's on pace for 2,100 rushing yards.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And right now, it looks like he could get close.
- 32:10Speaker 2: It certainly looks like he could get close to 2,000. Like,
- 32:12Speaker 2: I mean... I honestly think it's very fitting that he
- 32:18Speaker 2: is like the next big player to wear number seven
- 32:21Speaker 2: for the Falcons because when you watch him run out there,
- 32:24Speaker 2: it kind of gives you the same feelings that I did,
- 32:27Speaker 2: like watching Vic get out there. And the one that
- 32:30Speaker 2: sticks out with me, like from a... Sunday night was
- 32:34Speaker 2: a play where he was dead to rights in the backfield.
- 32:36Speaker 2: As soon as he gets the ball, he just jukes.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Then he's up the field and he jukes again and
- 32:40Speaker 2: he jukes again. I'm like, how are you moving that
- 32:44Speaker 2: fast that many times in a phone booth? You look
- 32:47Speaker 2: up and he's 10 yards downfield. What I think was
- 32:50Speaker 2: cool about him is he just seems to be getting
- 32:52Speaker 2: better every single year. There's no... there hasn't been like,
- 32:57Speaker 2: sometimes you'll see like this running backs, like they'll start
- 32:59Speaker 2: hot and they hit a bunch of carries and you're like,
- 33:02Speaker 2: Oh man, we had like a fun three years, but
- 33:04Speaker 2: this looks like it has like some real staying power for,
- 33:07Speaker 2: for a long time. Like this was like, I didn't
- 33:10Speaker 2: blink when he got that contract extension. I was like, man, he's,
- 33:12Speaker 2: it feels like he's underpaid. Like when I watch a play,
- 33:14Speaker 2: it feels like he's not making enough money, man. I
- 33:17Speaker 2: like after that game on Monday, I felt high, like
- 33:20Speaker 2: actually high. Like I, I, I couldn't go to bed
- 33:23Speaker 2: until maybe like 1 o'clock in the morning. I was
- 33:26Speaker 2: just watching the highlights over and over and over again.
- 33:29Speaker 2: And it's just special. Like, anytime you can go in there, like...
- 33:35Speaker 2: on that day, you know, the anniversary of Katrina, which
- 33:37Speaker 2: is obviously, you know, a horrible event.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Different days mean different things to different people.
- 33:44Speaker 2: People, right. And also the anniversary has kind of become
- 33:49Speaker 2: its own anniversary because the 10-year anniversary featured a 45-32
- 33:52Speaker 2: Falcons win. The 20-year anniversary featured a 45 to 24
- 33:57Speaker 2: Falcons win. So maybe the 30-year will be 45 to
- 34:00Speaker 2: 16 Falcons if we're just going to keep dropping it
- 34:02Speaker 2: down by eight. It feels good. It feels good to
- 34:05Speaker 2: know that you can make your worst rival feel horrendous
- 34:09Speaker 2: on a day that means a lot to them. So
- 34:11Speaker 2: I was really beaming after that game. It felt really good.
- 34:14Speaker 2: And I also think it's funny that you are also
- 34:16Speaker 2: in a large sect of former Falcons fans, which Grew
- 34:21Speaker 2: a lot after 28-3, rightfully so.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I was ahead of that.
- 34:25Speaker 2: You were ahead of that, for sure. But that don't
- 34:29Speaker 2: watch the Falcons anymore, but still hate the Saints. And
- 34:32Speaker 2: it's funny that how many people are in that bucket.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I'm so mad that I forgot to tweet out the
- 34:36Speaker 1: paper bag during that game. You know what I'm saying?
- 34:39Speaker 1: Though I do have a friend of mine. She a
- 34:41Speaker 1: Saints fan. And one time I sent her the paper bag,
- 34:44Speaker 1: and she responded by sending me, The photo shoot that
- 34:48Speaker 1: Jim Brown did for Playgirl magazine, which I thought was
- 34:52Speaker 1: not an apples to apples comparison. I didn't think that
- 34:56Speaker 1: that was the appropriate response, but I'll tell you this.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I ain't sent her that paper bag since. I mean,
- 35:03Speaker 1: I also just want to throw it out there that
- 35:04Speaker 1: she just keeps those pictures on her phone, which I
- 35:08Speaker 1: don't think that she was doing just because Bobani might
- 35:10Speaker 1: antagonize me about the Saints. I didn't think that's what
- 35:15Speaker 1: it is. I will say two things about Bijan and
- 35:19Speaker 1: the Falcons. One, Bijan was in the same draft as
- 35:23Speaker 1: Jameer Gibbs, and both of those picks were pilloried, I
- 35:27Speaker 1: would say, by much of the NFL community, primarily the dorks.
- 35:32Speaker 1: because the idea was they have drafted these running backs
- 35:35Speaker 1: too high, and you were wrong on both of those dorks.
- 35:39Speaker 1: This has worked out very well for both teams. You
- 35:42Speaker 1: happily extended both of these guys as soon as the
- 35:45Speaker 1: opportunity presented itself.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I liked Bijon a lot in college. My Gibbs
- 35:51Speaker 2: thing was I was like, bro, is this guy going
- 35:53Speaker 2: to carry the ball like 200, 300 times in a season?
- 35:54Speaker 2: The answer is yes.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I get their logic. I
- 36:00Speaker 1: don't want to pretend as though I don't understand where
- 36:02Speaker 1: they was coming from. But anyway, Bijan to me was
- 36:04Speaker 1: like Todd Gurley. And I don't care about the arthritis
- 36:06Speaker 1: on Todd Gurley.
- 36:07Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 36:07Speaker 1: That was a pick. Is Bijan better than Todd Gurley?
- 36:13Speaker 2: Yeah, because I think I'm a Georgia fan. I'm a
- 36:16Speaker 2: Georgia fan. I'll say that right now.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I think Gurley is one of those guys that's being forgotten. Right.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Because like to me on the list of Georgia running backs, which,
- 36:22Speaker 1: by the way, is an absurd list. That's easy to
- 36:27Speaker 1: forget is an absurd list. Yeah. To me, it's Herschel.
- 36:31Speaker 1: It's Gurley. And then you get to, like, Garrison Hurst.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Then you get to everybody else, right? But, like.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Nick Chubb. Nick Chubb's up there, too.
- 36:37Speaker 1: He's up there. I mean, Rodney Hampton's up there. Tim
- 36:40Speaker 1: Worley's up there. There's a lot of them. Poor Musa
- 36:43Speaker 1: Smith can't even get in the room.
- 36:45Speaker 2: No Sean Marino had a nice little run, too.
- 36:46Speaker 1: That's right. That's right. He's nowhere... Like, the guys that
- 36:49Speaker 1: can't even get on this... The others receiving votes for
- 36:52Speaker 1: Georgia is nuts. But the fact... Bijan, to me, is
- 36:55Speaker 1: a similar type player than Gurley. And the fact that
- 36:57Speaker 1: we're even there, for me, is a, like, okay. But
- 37:00Speaker 1: my number two thing is... I think there was room
- 37:03Speaker 1: for a lot of skepticism about Stefanski leaving Cleveland because
- 37:06Speaker 1: of how poor they had been those last couple of years.
- 37:08Speaker 1: And all I'm saying is if all it takes to
- 37:10Speaker 1: make this offense work is Michael Pennix, then maybe Stefanski
- 37:13Speaker 1: plus this combination of guys that we all thought may
- 37:16Speaker 1: have been overdrafted a little bit is going to be okay. Like,
- 37:20Speaker 1: cause I'm not there with Pennix. I'm not, I don't
- 37:22Speaker 1: think he's bad, but I think he's a guy.
- 37:24Speaker 2: No, right. I think Penix is... And it's funny because
- 37:28Speaker 2: two weeks ago I said, man, I don't give a
- 37:31Speaker 2: crap about this Michael Penix thing. If this comes to
- 37:35Speaker 2: a season where they go 2-15 and both wins are
- 37:37Speaker 2: against the Saints, I'll take that. I'll take that. Because
- 37:43Speaker 2: I thought, man, this offense just needs a competent quarterback.
- 37:47Speaker 2: And what happened the first two weeks was... I remember
- 37:52Speaker 2: I was going back and I was watching the games.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I'm like... because I saw people, you know, complain about
- 37:56Speaker 2: the scheme when Cooper Rush was starting. I was like,
- 37:58Speaker 2: I'm watching the games like, man, this scheme is fine.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Like there's open guys like all over the place, but
- 38:02Speaker 2: the quarterback play is so bad. Like you're not getting
- 38:04Speaker 2: to it. Like the one, there's one play that really
- 38:06Speaker 2: sticks out my mind from the, the Panthers game where
- 38:09Speaker 2: they lost 34 to three. And it's like clean pocket.
- 38:12Speaker 2: There's no pressure. Kyle Pitts is wide open along the
- 38:16Speaker 2: right sideline. And he had the skyscraper to go get
- 38:18Speaker 2: the ball. He's six, six, bro. Like, why does he
- 38:22Speaker 2: have to go full extension when he's not covered and
- 38:25Speaker 2: there's no pressure? Like, that should be hit him right
- 38:27Speaker 2: in the chest and we're running. Like, it's really just, like,
- 38:30Speaker 2: that's how bad Cooper Rush was. And quite honestly, like,
- 38:34Speaker 2: that's how bad the quarterback play in Cleveland was last year,
- 38:37Speaker 2: where you're just trying... Like, the reason why I like
- 38:41Speaker 2: the hires is because they were just... They were finding
- 38:43Speaker 2: any way they possibly could to move the ball. And
- 38:46Speaker 2: most of that was through screens with, like, Quinshawn Jenkins
- 38:48Speaker 2: and the other running backs. But at some point, you
- 38:51Speaker 2: need somebody to hit a throw, somebody to drop back
- 38:54Speaker 2: and make a throw downfield. And that's something that Michael
- 38:56Speaker 2: Panks can do. Is it always going to land in
- 38:58Speaker 2: the right spot? No. But on Monday, it did. So
- 39:01Speaker 2: we can work with that. And I think I don't
- 39:04Speaker 2: want people to get too far ahead of themselves with
- 39:06Speaker 2: Pennix because this has only been two games. And the
- 39:09Speaker 2: large sample size, when you look at the whole totality
- 39:12Speaker 2: of his Falcons run, has been pretty bad. And he's
- 39:14Speaker 2: only played, I think, 14 or 15 games at this
- 39:17Speaker 2: point due to sitting behind Kirk Cousins and then getting
- 39:21Speaker 2: hurt last year. So there's still a long way to
- 39:24Speaker 2: go with that. But I think it does show that
- 39:27Speaker 2: you know, this guy, like, he wanted, coach of the
- 39:30Speaker 2: year awards. He's not, he's not clueless, you know, he
- 39:34Speaker 2: might not be the best coach ever, but he's not,
- 39:36Speaker 2: he's not a Bozo. And I, okay. No, no, no, no.
- 39:39Speaker 2: He was a Bozo when he made that John Watson
- 39:41Speaker 2: trade in Cleveland.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I mean, I don't, I don't know if he did that,
- 39:45Speaker 1: but I got to be part of that. I'm not
- 39:48Speaker 1: sure if he did that. I will put it that way.
- 39:53Speaker 1: But the problems Stefanski had is that much of what
- 39:57Speaker 1: we will call the Atlanta Falcons demographic had a gripe
- 40:02Speaker 1: against him.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Because that's all that was.
- 40:07Speaker 1: And i want and i do wonder this is the
- 40:09Speaker 1: fans he knew that atlanta was going to be his
- 40:10Speaker 1: next stop would he have tried a little harder push
- 40:13Speaker 1: the door just to make his life a little bit
- 40:14Speaker 1: easier because they was going to lose regardless you know
- 40:16Speaker 1: what i'm saying.
- 40:18Speaker 2: See no i remember i came on this show and
- 40:20Speaker 2: i said i wasn't surprised that the fans he went
- 40:23Speaker 2: to atlanta because there's only one other team that couldn't
- 40:26Speaker 2: ask him yo why'd you do what was up with
- 40:28Speaker 2: that deshaun watson that was crazy Because.
- 40:31Speaker 1: The Falcons were in on it too.
- 40:33Speaker 2: They tried so hard. They tried so hard to get
- 40:35Speaker 2: Deshaun Watson. So I'm pleased. And I really think the
- 40:43Speaker 2: part of the Falcons fan base... For like 10 years,
- 40:47Speaker 2: I've been calling these people... Dez Bryant Twitter you know
- 40:51Speaker 2: like where it's just you know if you've seen Dez
- 40:53Speaker 2: Bryant's Twitter account you kind of get what he's about
- 40:56Speaker 2: and I think that a lot of our brothers and
- 41:00Speaker 2: sisters can fall like somewhere in that bucket right where
- 41:04Speaker 2: you're just like I don't know if I I definitely
- 41:06Speaker 2: agree with you that there is racism but I'm not
- 41:08Speaker 2: sure I agree with you on what the racism actually
- 41:10Speaker 2: is you know yeah I need people.
- 41:12Speaker 1: To stop doing that by the way because I find
- 41:15Speaker 1: myself having to give that answer far too much And
- 41:18Speaker 1: I don't like how it makes me feel.
- 41:19Speaker 2: You feel, right? Like, bro, I saw a post that
- 41:23Speaker 2: said Kevin Stefanski was buck-breaking Shador Sanders. I'm like, bro,
- 41:27Speaker 2: do you know what that means?
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. I was like, I don't like how... Do
- 41:29Speaker 1: you know what that means? I don't like how... Like,
- 41:30Speaker 1: for example, when I had the little baby face situation.
- 41:33Speaker 1: They was getting mad at me because Ryan's face would
- 41:35Speaker 1: come up on the screen and they were like, he
- 41:36Speaker 1: talking to a white man about it. I'm like, God damn,
- 41:38Speaker 1: I signed the checks. Y'all ain't happy with that? Like, like, like,
- 41:44Speaker 1: what are we? I mean, I don't, I don't sign. Well,
- 41:46Speaker 1: I kind of do actually. Yeah. Like when it gets
- 41:48Speaker 1: down to the bottom of it, I'm like, damn, we got,
- 41:50Speaker 1: we have a white man lower than me in the
- 41:52Speaker 1: hierarchy and I can't even, I can't ask him a
- 41:55Speaker 1: question to make the show run.
- 41:57Speaker 2: No, no, that's right.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I don't, I don't like how that feels. I don't
- 42:01Speaker 1: like being put in that position.
- 42:04Speaker 2: And I don't like, I don't like like defending Kevin
- 42:08Speaker 2: Savansky against like Shador Sanders.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Cause honestly, I don't care about Shador Sanders.
- 42:15Speaker 2: It's not that interesting.
- 42:17Speaker 1: You know, I don't like how it feels.
- 42:19Speaker 2: So that's why I keep getting stuck. I'm like, I
- 42:22Speaker 2: was trying to explain in, like, the nicest way possible.
- 42:25Speaker 2: I gave up after a while. I'm like, bro, like,
- 42:27Speaker 2: this is someone that the Falcons should try to hire, like,
- 42:30Speaker 2: if it comes to it. Just because the Raheem Morris stuff,
- 42:33Speaker 2: it got so sloppy at a certain point. And, you know,
- 42:39Speaker 2: while I've been telling my friends, like, you just needed
- 42:43Speaker 2: to get somebody competent under center is because, like, we've
- 42:46Speaker 2: seen Kevin Stefanski do this before with, like, Baker Mayfield.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I mean, Baker Mayfield has... I think a lot of
- 42:52Speaker 2: people think Baker may feels a lot better than he is.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I agree.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Yeah. He's certainly competent enough, like running offense that can
- 42:59Speaker 2: score points. If you got pieces around them, I think
- 43:01Speaker 2: Pennix is probably in the same bucket. Will you hit
- 43:03Speaker 2: a wall with this? Yeah. I don't know how the
- 43:06Speaker 2: playoffs are going to look if they could make it
- 43:07Speaker 2: that far. I mean, there's, there's only two and two.
- 43:09Speaker 2: So there's a ways to go, but the past two
- 43:12Speaker 2: weeks is the most fun I've had. watching the Falcons
- 43:17Speaker 2: play in a long, long time. And it also does
- 43:21Speaker 2: bring you back to, you know, a conversation that I
- 43:23Speaker 2: was having with my coworker, Daniel Popper here, where we
- 43:27Speaker 2: were talking about like, like what the dolphins should do with,
- 43:31Speaker 2: you know, the draft pick next year. And I'm like,
- 43:33Speaker 2: what do you mean? They're going to take a quarterback.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Like if they're going to have the first pick in draft,
- 43:37Speaker 2: they're going to take a quarterback. And what I was saying,
- 43:39Speaker 2: I was like, I watch a team with B. John
- 43:41Speaker 2: Robinson and Drake London that can't score.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:44Speaker 2: You know, like, like they, they didn't even get to
- 43:47Speaker 2: the red zone until panics came back two games, zero
- 43:50Speaker 2: red zone plays, not even drives. Like they didn't even
- 43:53Speaker 2: get close. So like as, as fun as the, the,
- 43:57Speaker 2: you know, the Bijon stuff is, and he's fantastic. He
- 44:00Speaker 2: has some, some nice runs in both of those games.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Obviously all this stuff opened up when you had someone
- 44:05Speaker 2: that could just throw the ball downfield. And I'm sure
- 44:07Speaker 2: like you're going to have games where panics can't hit anything,
- 44:10Speaker 2: but when it looks like it did on Monday, it's
- 44:13Speaker 2: pretty fun. Cause at least he's got a bazooka, you know,
- 44:15Speaker 2: like it's, it's, it's fun to watch. I had a
- 44:18Speaker 2: blast on Monday and now Lamar, Lamar Jackson's out on Sunday.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I was about to say they get a home, they
- 44:23Speaker 1: get a home game. It's Snoop Hundley. The Falcons could
- 44:28Speaker 1: be three and two.
- 44:29Speaker 2: They're going red top black pants two on Sunday.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Oh, boy. I'm back. I'm back. They got you. They
- 44:36Speaker 1: got you. They got you. By the way, good chance
- 44:38Speaker 1: that the Browns are going to wind up being four
- 44:40Speaker 1: and one.
- 44:41Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 44:41Speaker 1: They get to play against the Jets. Again, things that
- 44:45Speaker 1: don't make me feel very good. Talking about Eric Glenn.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I got nasty D over here. I got Eric Glenn who,
- 44:56Speaker 1: oh man, this is not going well at all.
- 45:00Speaker 2: No, no. And I think what has become sadly like
- 45:07Speaker 2: apparently clear for the Jets this year is Aaron Glenn
- 45:09Speaker 2: is kind of holding them back. Yeah, because they have enough.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Because honestly, I think the Jets, they're kind of... They're
- 45:20Speaker 2: kind of like the poster boy right now for... Yo,
- 45:23Speaker 2: that tanking shit sounds fun until you're doing it.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Yes.
- 45:25Speaker 2: You know? Until you're going out there every Sunday knowing, yo,
- 45:29Speaker 2: we're about to lose, like, 45-6. And we're just going
- 45:32Speaker 2: to eat this on the chin. So, like, they went
- 45:35Speaker 2: in this offseason and they signed basically a bunch of adults. Like,
- 45:39Speaker 2: Minka Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith. Like, real credible NFL players. And
- 45:43Speaker 2: those guys, like, have been big improvements for them to
- 45:46Speaker 2: the point that I can see, man, Aaron... I don't
- 45:50Speaker 2: think that this is– it's the game management stuff, which
- 45:53Speaker 2: is really, really bad. The timeouts, like, man, just count
- 45:57Speaker 2: to three, man.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Man, but that is so interesting. To me, that is game– like,
- 46:02Speaker 1: clock management is such an intuitive thing that clearly– so, like,
- 46:05Speaker 1: in this business, I don't remember if I've done this
- 46:07Speaker 1: comp here, but an amorphous sort of skill in this
- 46:13Speaker 1: business is reading a teleprompter. Some people just can't do it.
- 46:20Speaker 1: And what is it? It's reading. That's all it is,
- 46:23Speaker 1: but it's reading and the thing is moving at the
- 46:24Speaker 1: same time. So you kind of need to go over
- 46:27Speaker 1: and down and there's lines and there's levels and all
- 46:29Speaker 1: this stuff. But at the end of the day, it's
- 46:31Speaker 1: just reading. And I know very intelligent people who just
- 46:34Speaker 1: can't read a teleprompter. or can't read and update as
- 46:38Speaker 1: a radio producer or things like that. And it's not
- 46:40Speaker 1: because they're not smart. It's just the thing that they
- 46:42Speaker 1: can't do. Andy Reid is awful with the clock, for example.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Still awful.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Still to this day. They got so good that we
- 46:50Speaker 1: stopped talking about it. But it's one of those things.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Some people are bad at it. And if you're going
- 46:55Speaker 1: to be bad at that, you better be Andy Reid
- 46:57Speaker 1: and be good at everything else because you're bad at
- 47:00Speaker 1: the things that we can see. I think there are
- 47:02Speaker 1: a lot of coaches that are good at the things
- 47:03Speaker 1: that happen in practice, the things we can't see. Eric
- 47:06Speaker 1: Glenn is awful at all the things that we can see,
- 47:08Speaker 1: including press conferences. He's just really bad.
- 47:12Speaker 2: At press conferences. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not a great situation.
- 47:17Speaker 2: It's not a great situation. And, like, Andy, like, he's
- 47:22Speaker 2: still doing, even a couple weeks ago against the Colts, like,
- 47:26Speaker 2: he could have ended that game before it went to overtime. And, no,
- 47:29Speaker 2: they just sat on the timeouts. And I think that
- 47:32Speaker 2: that's one of the funniest things to me because you'll
- 47:34Speaker 2: hear a You hear people like, oh, you know, why
- 47:38Speaker 2: don't they just hire a game management coach? They do.
- 47:41Speaker 2: They do. They just don't listen to that motherfucker.
- 47:43Speaker 1: You know why? Because if it goes wrong and I
- 47:45Speaker 1: come to the podium, what I'm going to say?
- 47:49Speaker 2: Yo, it was that guy.
- 47:51Speaker 1: That's not my job. What you mean that's not your job?
- 47:54Speaker 1: It's not my job. We outsourced that. We got some
- 47:58Speaker 1: dude in Mumbai on a computer. We sent that job
- 48:02Speaker 1: over to India. Yeah.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Bro, and they'll give you all the information you need.
- 48:06Speaker 2: You know, they'll drill you on, hey, in this situation,
- 48:09Speaker 2: you should use, like, the two-minute warning as, like, your
- 48:11Speaker 2: fourth time out, kind of. And then when it comes
- 48:14Speaker 2: down to the game, there's, like... What's that nerd got
- 48:17Speaker 2: to do with what we've got going on here?
- 48:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Or the four down decisions too, yeah.
- 48:21Speaker 1: That nerd doesn't have to answer for it. Like so
- 48:24Speaker 1: many of these decisions that people like acting like life
- 48:26Speaker 1: is bad, you do all kinds of stuff where you
- 48:29Speaker 1: don't have to answer any questions about it. Now, granted,
- 48:31Speaker 1: should those questions dictate your behavior? Probably not. However, in
- 48:36Speaker 1: real life, I got to answer for this. Right. Like
- 48:40Speaker 1: I'm the one that's got to stand behind it. Nah, man,
- 48:43Speaker 1: not going to happen. I do want to ask you this.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Why we, before we get too far along in this
- 48:48Speaker 1: Monday night, um, All you guys in the secondary, you're
- 48:52Speaker 1: going to have a long day, but it could be
- 48:54Speaker 1: your lucky day because on one side is Josh Allen
- 48:56Speaker 1: and on the other side is Matthew Stafford. You will
- 48:59Speaker 1: have opportunities to put a little something on them incentives, right?
- 49:02Speaker 1: You also might get lit up for a few hundo
- 49:05Speaker 1: in the course of this game. I am very intrigued
- 49:08Speaker 1: by this one because the Rams, I said before the year,
- 49:12Speaker 1: I don't know if I said this about them. I
- 49:13Speaker 1: know I definitely said this about the Sixers, that they
- 49:15Speaker 1: had Eagles dream team potential. You remember the Eagles dream team? Yeah.
- 49:19Speaker 2: I remember the Eagles.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I was like, oh, there's potential for that.
- 49:22Speaker 1: And the Rams are looking kind of like that, right?
- 49:23Speaker 1: Miles Garrett hurt. Aaron Donald old and things going there.
- 49:27Speaker 1: The offense ain't really humming like we thought. And then meanwhile,
- 49:31Speaker 1: in Buffalo, it's amazing, boy. When Josh is humming, it's
- 49:33Speaker 1: all good. Josh do Josh stuff. And then I go
- 49:36Speaker 1: pull up that pull up that turnover package. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Look on the desktop. Yeah, that's the folder right there.
- 49:41Speaker 1: It's always ready.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, this is kind of those other thing.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Another thing where we were talking about Jalen Hurts earlier.
- 49:49Speaker 2: And it's like, man, whatever. Like I've watched so many
- 49:52Speaker 2: of these games replays like this. I don't really get myself.
- 49:56Speaker 2: I don't feel like myself getting charged up about it.
- 49:58Speaker 2: I'm kind of the same way with Josh to Allen turnovers. Like,
- 50:01Speaker 2: and especially with, with Josh, I'm like, what are we
- 50:03Speaker 2: going to do? We're going to bench him.
- 50:07Speaker 1: We're here now.
- 50:08Speaker 2: We're here now. We're locked in. Like he's one of
- 50:11Speaker 2: the best quarterbacks in the league. He's going to make
- 50:12Speaker 2: it to the hall of fame and you're going to
- 50:14Speaker 2: have to eat like a handful of plays per game
- 50:16Speaker 2: where you're like, what the fuck were you thinking? Like,
- 50:19Speaker 2: what was that?
- 50:20Speaker 1: Again, Stafford's the same way. Right.
- 50:24Speaker 2: And Stafford, like, low-key, like, I think you can see
- 50:27Speaker 2: this year, man, he's getting old. It's getting old. He's
- 50:30Speaker 2: missing some throws that he used to hit that used
- 50:32Speaker 2: to be kind of automatic for him. But with Josh,
- 50:35Speaker 2: the Texans game week one, perfect example. The final two
- 50:38Speaker 2: plays of the game where you had Kamari Lassiter. Josh
- 50:43Speaker 2: threw a perfect pass to Houston Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter.
- 50:47Speaker 2: It hit him right in the hands, and he dropped it.
- 50:49Speaker 2: And then what did he do the next play? the
- 50:51Speaker 2: post right up the middle split the safety right missile
- 50:54Speaker 2: right down the middle for a touchdown then let them
- 50:56Speaker 2: win the game uh and you're gonna you you will
- 51:01Speaker 2: you will live with that because you're gonna get more
- 51:03Speaker 2: of the highs for the most part um and i
- 51:06Speaker 2: think in this game like man i think the bills
- 51:08Speaker 2: are kind of in trouble because that secondary is not
- 51:11Speaker 2: in great shape right now not in great shape at
- 51:13Speaker 2: all so we're gonna see a lot of points but
- 51:16Speaker 2: also like Stafford at this point, if you can get
- 51:19Speaker 2: pressure on him, he's not moving. That's a spot where
- 51:22Speaker 2: he's not as spry as he used to be. He
- 51:25Speaker 2: has the healing chambers to come fix his back outside
- 51:28Speaker 2: of the Rams facility. But still, I think they're in
- 51:32Speaker 2: a spot where probably going to see a lot of
- 51:34Speaker 2: points in this one. Going to see a lot of turnovers.
- 51:35Speaker 2: This is probably going to be a pretty fun game.
- 51:38Speaker 2: going on Monday night. But the Josh Allen stuff, I'm
- 51:41Speaker 2: having fun with it as someone who doesn't root for
- 51:43Speaker 2: the Bills. If I root for the Bills, I'd be like, man,
- 51:46Speaker 2: you're so much better than some of the slop that
- 51:47Speaker 2: you put out. But what are you going to do?
- 51:50Speaker 2: Bench him?
- 51:50Speaker 1: It's like me and Russell Westbrook. I never had to
- 51:52Speaker 1: root for him. Therefore, he could be my favorite player.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Right, exactly.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Like, oh, boy, I wish he wouldn't have done that. Oh, well,
- 51:58Speaker 1: moving on. Giants. Who Giants played? Oh, Giants played the Commandos.
- 52:04Speaker 1: How long are they going to keep winning games with Giants?
- 52:07Speaker 1: Is it just as long as they keep playing bombs?
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's about it. That's about it. I mean, the
- 52:13Speaker 2: Cowboys won week one. That looks a little funny, I think, now.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I mean, it's irrelevant. The quarterback they had is not playing.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Yeah, actually, that's a great point. I forgot that Jackson
- 52:25Speaker 2: started playing that game. And then, like, the Titans game,
- 52:28Speaker 2: that was crap. And last week against the Cardinals, I think.
- 52:32Speaker 2: The defense played pretty well. I thought Jameis, while his
- 52:35Speaker 2: stat line kind of looked okay, still did not play
- 52:37Speaker 2: that well. I think it's kind of tough for them
- 52:41Speaker 2: when they're wasting as many yards. giving it to camp
- 52:44Speaker 2: waste as many plays as they give it to camp
- 52:46Speaker 2: scataboo like as they do like you got jamis you guys.
- 52:50Speaker 3: They won't you but like but see that's where i'm
- 52:54Speaker 3: with the giants like like my giants fans friends like
- 52:56Speaker 3: you you guys like this like i know you're three
- 52:58Speaker 3: in one but like is that all that matters just
- 53:00Speaker 3: three in.
- 53:01Speaker 1: One look is that it i i know enough about
- 53:04Speaker 1: the giants history we all do and all i'm saying
- 53:06Speaker 1: is If they're going to get stuck playing Jameis, then
- 53:09Speaker 1: damn it, they're going to get a ball to Scatterboo.
- 53:11Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying? If they're going to have
- 53:13Speaker 1: to try Jameis out here, they're going to have to
- 53:15Speaker 1: get a ball to Scatterboo. They're afraid people are going
- 53:17Speaker 1: to stop buying season tickets.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Have you looked at his numbers this year, Cam Scatterboo?
- 53:21Speaker 2: I have not. No, go on. Take a look and
- 53:26Speaker 2: see what Mr. Battery Ram is up to right now
- 53:28Speaker 2: for the Giants. that's not that's not good at all
- 53:34Speaker 2: he's on pace for almost 300 carries in less.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Than a thousand yards you won't talk about somebody riding
- 53:40Speaker 1: that dei wave not that he doesn't deserve his job
- 53:43Speaker 1: but he is definitely there's a novelty effect there's no
- 53:46Speaker 1: question of the novelty situation there yeah if he could
- 53:49Speaker 1: just be a little bit better boy they make him
- 53:50Speaker 1: into john riggins.
- 53:52Speaker 2: And going back to to the quarterback Jameis is the
- 53:56Speaker 2: one that gets to be the guy that gets to
- 53:58Speaker 2: start all these games for the Giants, you know? He's
- 54:02Speaker 2: placating it to a certain type of a palette, I think.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 54:06Speaker 1: I can't tell how in on this he is. I
- 54:09Speaker 1: can't tell how in on the joke he is.
- 54:11Speaker 2: I don't know how any... It doesn't seem like he's
- 54:14Speaker 2: having fun right now. And he also looks like he
- 54:17Speaker 2: didn't lift a weight all summer while he was doing
- 54:19Speaker 2: World Cup coverage. But I digress.
- 54:22Speaker 1: I don't know what to make of any of the Jameis.
- 54:25Speaker 1: It is... Oh my God, it's so much. Here's the
- 54:27Speaker 1: thing though. Do the Giants understand that Jameis is their
- 54:30Speaker 1: guy all year? Because he's still better than... J.J.
- 54:35Speaker 2: McCarthy.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I guess they have to. I thought
- 54:39Speaker 2: that that trade was just kind of more Harbaugh brothers
- 54:43Speaker 2: sharing stuff.
- 54:44Speaker 1: They keep doing it.
- 54:45Speaker 2: They keep doing it.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Hey, man, can you do me a solid, man? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, yeah, yeah,
- 54:50Speaker 1: I need you. Okay.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I said all this stuff about J.J. McCarthy before
- 54:53Speaker 2: the draft, and if he's, like, out of the league, like,
- 54:56Speaker 2: that would kind of bat on me, bro.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Well, what if Jim is like, look, man, you got
- 55:00Speaker 1: to keep Willie. If you get to have Willie, then
- 55:02Speaker 1: you got to do this for me. For those who
- 55:05Speaker 1: don't know, Willie Taggart is Jack Harbaugh, the dad Harbaugh.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Willie Taggart's his favorite player as long as there's a
- 55:12Speaker 1: Harbaugh in the league. And I think that Jim recruited
- 55:14Speaker 1: him to Western Kentucky.
- 55:16Speaker 2: I think so, yeah.
- 55:16Speaker 1: As long as a Harbaugh has a job, Willie Taggart
- 55:20Speaker 1: will also have a job. And I can imagine the
- 55:22Speaker 1: two of them fighting over who got to have Willie.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but man, they love him with some Willie Taggart,
- 55:28Speaker 2: some Greg Roman. Yes. They both had Mike McDonald because
- 55:33Speaker 2: Mike McDonald was at the Ravens and Michigan.
- 55:35Speaker 1: But hold on, think about this. After John Harbaugh leaves
- 55:38Speaker 1: and goes to New York, who do the Ravens hire?
- 55:41Speaker 1: Jesse Mentor and who? A Jim Harbaugh guy.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Yep. Jesse, who also used to coach for the Ravens. Yes! So, yeah,
- 55:52Speaker 2: another guy who coached for both Harbaugh's. That's why I
- 55:56Speaker 2: like mentor a lot, but I think the one thing
- 55:57Speaker 2: that happened to me, I was like, hmm. I was like, man,
- 56:00Speaker 2: this is not all that different than what you were
- 56:03Speaker 2: doing before. But, I mean, they're on a different time,
- 56:06Speaker 2: I think, with that offense. Once they get Lamar back
- 56:09Speaker 2: and if they can get Zay Flowers to just consistently
- 56:11Speaker 2: stay in the lineup down the stretch, like... they're gonna
- 56:14Speaker 2: score a lot of points but you know the giants
- 56:16Speaker 2: man they're they're they're three and one and they could
- 56:19Speaker 2: be four and one and i guess that that's something
- 56:21Speaker 2: right i hope about but even when you look at
- 56:22Speaker 2: some of uh like they're they're they're projected like playoff
- 56:26Speaker 2: chances still not that high even though they're three and
- 56:28Speaker 2: one and leading the division i think people kind of
- 56:30Speaker 2: look at this like it's funny money as you probably should.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Yeah last thing right fast um can the packers beat
- 56:36Speaker 1: the bears with the bears playing tyson.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Bajan i don't think so And see, that is another
- 56:46Speaker 2: reason why I'm trying not to get too ahead of
- 56:49Speaker 2: myself on this Falcon stuff because the Packers look awful.
- 56:51Speaker 2: I mean, like last week, Jalen Daniels, who, I mean,
- 56:56Speaker 2: I liked watching that Kansas.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Like he's a fun little guy.
- 57:00Speaker 2: What'd I say?
- 57:00Speaker 1: No, no, you did say Jalen. I'm just making sure
- 57:02Speaker 1: that people know.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Jalen Daniels, not to be confused with J.D.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Daniels.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Jalen Daniels, the backup quarterback, undrafted rookie for Tampa Bay.
- 57:15Speaker 2: For an undrafted rookie, he looked like okay, which I
- 57:19Speaker 2: think is a really bad sign for the Packers, you know,
- 57:21Speaker 2: because he was a guy who, Jalen, he was a
- 57:25Speaker 2: guy who's supposed to maybe come out like a few
- 57:28Speaker 2: years ago but didn't quite pan out and then he
- 57:30Speaker 2: ended up playing some extra years and like kind of
- 57:31Speaker 2: got together his last year at kansas but certainly not
- 57:34Speaker 2: a guy where you're like oh man like we're we're
- 57:37Speaker 2: barely scraping by against him in the nfl game in
- 57:39Speaker 2: his first start no no no that that's that's a
- 57:42Speaker 2: bad sign so i think like like what you saw
- 57:44Speaker 2: from uh case keaton and the eagles in that game,
- 57:49Speaker 2: I think we're probably going to see something pretty similar.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Ben Johnson's on another level, and Tyson Bates is certainly
- 57:54Speaker 2: good enough to just throw it to wide-open guys if
- 57:56Speaker 2: that's what the Packers are going to allow, like they
- 57:58Speaker 2: did against the Falcons, you know?
- 57:59Speaker 1: The Packers just can't block.
- 58:01Speaker 2: No, they can't. Yeah, that's the biggest thing. Their offensive
- 58:06Speaker 2: line is really, really... like in shockingly bad shape considering
- 58:11Speaker 2: the organization like they because they've always had you know
- 58:13Speaker 2: a handful of guys that you trust up there but
- 58:16Speaker 2: now that uh zach oh becco bewele i think is
- 58:19Speaker 2: his last name now he tours patella tendon uh uh
- 58:23Speaker 2: early in the season back has been bad everyone on
- 58:26Speaker 2: the interior is bad and like the one thing that
- 58:28Speaker 2: was crazy about the the falcons game i remember is
- 58:31Speaker 2: it was week three and jordan love seemed like punch
- 58:34Speaker 2: drunk on the season And then I looked at how
- 58:36Speaker 2: many times he got hit and he was at almost
- 58:39Speaker 2: like 35, 40 quarterback hits through three games. I was like, shoot,
- 58:44Speaker 2: he's getting lit up back there. And like quarterback hits,
- 58:49Speaker 2: like those, those defenders have gotten a little bit scared
- 58:53Speaker 2: of just lighting up the quarterbacks. Like if you can
- 58:54Speaker 2: get enough pressure that you can have games where he's
- 58:57Speaker 2: getting hit 12 times against the Falcons and then like
- 59:01Speaker 2: 15 times against the Vikings in week one, I can
- 59:04Speaker 2: get being a little bit scared, man. That shit hurts.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Hey, man. Charles McDonald. Check him out on the Athletic Live,
- 59:09Speaker 1: my brother. I appreciate you.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Appreciate you, bro.
