- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where.
- 0:04Speaker 1: The plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:08Speaker 3: To come off the bitch.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Kine Studio.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Welcome in our number, our number two here Monday edition
- 0:35Speaker 4: of Off the Bench. Taylor Sharp, Alondra Villarrial Brex and
- 0:38Speaker 4: Rizzuto hanging out with you here on this Monday morning.
- 0:42Speaker 4: We talked a lot of l Shue Baseball and our
- 0:44Speaker 4: number one and rightfully so, I mean there were dominant
- 0:47Speaker 4: moments over the weekend, the three game series against Milwaukee.
- 0:51Speaker 4: They will take one the Kent State Golden Flashes tonight.
- 0:54Speaker 4: We'll recap all of that tomorrow and I speaking of
- 0:57Speaker 4: what's coming up here in the next two hours. At
- 0:59Speaker 4: eight thirty four, Relship pitcher Patrick Coogan is going to
- 1:01Speaker 4: hop on the show. We'll get his thoughts, a former
- 1:03Speaker 4: player what he saw from the Tigers in the opening weekend,
- 1:06Speaker 4: and of course of Devin Snow in our normal nine
- 1:08Speaker 4: to fifteen spot. We'll have weekend winners at nine am.
- 1:12Speaker 4: We'll get to all of it right now, though. Zach
- 1:16Speaker 4: and Naggy, who covers LSU for SI This is actually
- 1:21Speaker 4: something he put out a week ago was a graphic
- 1:24Speaker 4: of offseason workouts for your LSU Tigers and it was
- 1:29Speaker 4: broken down by position groups of their top speed and
- 1:34Speaker 4: Jabari Mack true freshman twenty two point two miles an
- 1:39Speaker 4: hour he was topped out at He was second on
- 1:42Speaker 4: the team behind Philip rad who was twenty two point seven.
- 1:45Speaker 4: I really hope Jabari Matt can be a difference player.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Like when you look at what he did, he was
- 1:52Speaker 4: a he was a big time player at Destrahan and
- 1:55Speaker 4: that's been an LSU factory for years. I mean, think
- 1:57Speaker 4: about some of the guys that came out of Destrahant.
- 2:00Speaker 4: All three of the Jefferson brothers, so Jordan, Ricky and
- 2:03Speaker 4: Justin John Emery came out of there. Glenn Logan's from there.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I mean, there's so many guys out there that you
- 2:09Speaker 4: could name that came out of desh Ran High School
- 2:12Speaker 4: that were big for this Yellowship football team. He's six one,
- 2:15Speaker 4: he hovers around two hundred pounds. He was a four
- 2:16Speaker 4: star coming out of high school. This is a guy
- 2:19Speaker 4: that if he could have a really good offseason, who knows,
- 2:22Speaker 4: I mean he can, he could potentially make an impact
- 2:26Speaker 4: right away. And I know people laughed at oh, Wayne
- 2:31Speaker 4: Kiffn's only going to bring in wide receivers. They're gonna
- 2:34Speaker 4: play seven on seven on offense. But you have thirteen
- 2:37Speaker 4: receivers between the portal, you have one returner in Philip Wright,
- 2:42Speaker 4: and you have three high school guys. Wayne Kiffin last
- 2:47Speaker 4: year played about six or seven guys that had I
- 2:50Speaker 4: think he had six hundred six guys that had four
- 2:53Speaker 4: hundred yards more receiving and no player with a thousand,
- 2:56Speaker 4: So they spread the ball around a lot.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So we think about it.
- 2:59Speaker 4: If you have five, five, ver six every day receivers,
- 3:02Speaker 4: you're really only too deep that point. With thirteen guys
- 3:05Speaker 4: and maybe a couple to spare, why can't Jabori Mac
- 3:09Speaker 4: be in that number. Like we know about the transfer
- 3:11Speaker 4: portal guys that are coming in, Everyone's excited about Jase Brown,
- 3:17Speaker 4: Jackson Harris was super productive at Hawaii. Winston Watkins comes
- 3:20Speaker 4: over joins Lane Kiffin after showing flashes as a freshman
- 3:23Speaker 4: last year at Old Miss. You bring in Trey Wilson
- 3:26Speaker 4: from Florida, and I get it, Like you go look
- 3:29Speaker 4: up the stats for Eugene Wilson. Nothing's going to jump
- 3:32Speaker 4: off the board at you. But he played with Graham
- 3:36Speaker 4: Mertz and DJ Lagway where his two quarterbacks.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So I'm gonna give Trey.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Wilson a little bit of a pass as far as
- 3:43Speaker 4: uh not having the eye poppy numbers. He's a guy
- 3:45Speaker 4: that was a high recruit. When he got there. People
- 3:48Speaker 4: in Gainesville loved him. I mean like Chris Dorrian's raved
- 3:52Speaker 4: about him, Tebow's raved about him. I mean, anybody connected
- 3:56Speaker 4: to that Florida program has had good things to say
- 3:59Speaker 4: about Trey will I think he's gonna fit in here.
- 4:01Speaker 4: So we know Wilson, Harris, Jason Brown. I mean those
- 4:05Speaker 4: guys are going to play. We got that. But what
- 4:07Speaker 4: about the younger guys. Why can't Jabari Mac be one?
- 4:11Speaker 4: And even outside of Jabari Mac, I think all three
- 4:14Speaker 4: of these freshman wide receivers you brought in have a
- 4:17Speaker 4: chance to be really good.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You look at Braylen Allen.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I mean Braiden Allen was a three star from LCA,
- 4:24Speaker 4: just down the road in Lafayette. He was the he
- 4:26Speaker 4: was actually committed to Lane Kiffen, him and Corey Barber,
- 4:30Speaker 4: who will get to in a minute. He was committed
- 4:32Speaker 4: to Ole Miss with Kiffen. When Kivin got the job,
- 4:34Speaker 4: Kivin immediately flipped him lshoo. So this is a guy
- 4:37Speaker 4: that Lane's had his eyes on for quite some time.
- 4:40Speaker 4: And you can see why. The athleticism is there. Forty
- 4:43Speaker 4: three catches, seven hundred forty one yards, eleven touchdowns, but
- 4:46Speaker 4: on defense thirty four tackles, two interceptions, also had a
- 4:51Speaker 4: defensive score and returned to punt for a touchdown in
- 4:53Speaker 4: twenty twenty five. The athleticism is there with Braidon Allen.
- 4:57Speaker 4: He's a little bit longer of a receiver. He needs
- 5:01Speaker 4: to put on a little bit away, but I mean
- 5:03Speaker 4: the potential is there. And again that's a guy that
- 5:06Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin targeted early on and liked him so much
- 5:09Speaker 4: that he's like, I have to bring him with me.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Tell a shoot.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Kiffen has a certain mode of guys he likes to
- 5:14Speaker 4: put into his offense and clearly thinks Brad now and
- 5:17Speaker 4: fits that well. Which brings me to the last freshman
- 5:23Speaker 4: wide receiver. Then we have, for lshoot Corey Barber, four
- 5:29Speaker 4: star wide receiver from Trussville, Alabama, and he was actually
- 5:32Speaker 4: a five in some services. Nan Corey Barber had a
- 5:35Speaker 4: heck of a finish to his high school career. As
- 5:37Speaker 4: a junior, seventy four catches fourteen hundred yards eighteen touchdowns.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Last season, sixty eight catches eleven hundred yards, fourteen touchdowns.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Corey Barber is a stud. He's got the size, he's
- 5:51Speaker 4: got the production. You go watch the guy's tape. He
- 5:54Speaker 4: can do a little bit of everything. He could run routes,
- 5:57Speaker 4: he's got good hands, he's got the size. When Ulosu
- 6:01Speaker 4: flipped Corey Barber to me, that was one of the
- 6:03Speaker 4: biggest Like Lane Kiffin's really coming in and making an
- 6:07Speaker 4: impact right away out of the high school guys. I mean,
- 6:10Speaker 4: we knew, you know, Lane Kiffin, the portal king. We
- 6:12Speaker 4: knew he was going to bring in big time players.
- 6:14Speaker 4: May hell, he brought in Sam Levitt, Prince Will Luman, Miellen,
- 6:18Speaker 4: and Jordan Seeden. That's the number one quarterback, the number
- 6:20Speaker 4: one ed rusher, and the number one left tackle. We
- 6:23Speaker 4: knew what he was going to do in the transfer portal.
- 6:25Speaker 4: But when Corey Barber flipped over from Ole Miss and
- 6:30Speaker 4: followed Lane Kiff and Lsu, that's when it clicked, at
- 6:33Speaker 4: least for me, because I think Corey Barber out of
- 6:36Speaker 4: the three freshman wide receiver we're talking about, I think
- 6:39Speaker 4: Corey Barber has the potential to be the best of
- 6:43Speaker 4: those three. He's got size. I mean, he's over two
- 6:46Speaker 4: hundred pounds right now, he's over six feet tall. And
- 6:50Speaker 4: you saw his production that I just laid out. I mean,
- 6:54Speaker 4: twenty six hundred yards over thirty touchdowns. That guy can
- 6:59Speaker 4: play and that's just the last two seasons of his
- 7:02Speaker 4: high school career. Corey Barber is a really, really good
- 7:06Speaker 4: football player, and I think Ellish's lucky to have all
- 7:08Speaker 4: three of these guys. So, I know there's been a
- 7:10Speaker 4: lot of talk about the big name transfers, and I
- 7:13Speaker 4: get it, the transfer portal era. You know what these
- 7:17Speaker 4: guys can do. You've seen him do it, like I've
- 7:19Speaker 4: seen Jace Brown play at Kansas State. I know he's
- 7:21Speaker 4: an athletic guy. You look at what Jackson Harris did
- 7:24Speaker 4: and you're like, oh, nine hundred yards at ten touchdowns
- 7:27Speaker 4: in only twelve games. It's really good production from a
- 7:29Speaker 4: guy on the college level. Trey Wilson has SEC experience,
- 7:34Speaker 4: Winston Watkins has SEC experience. You're so concerned with those guys,
- 7:38Speaker 4: and rightfully so they've done it here at this level
- 7:40Speaker 4: that you kind of forget about the high school guys
- 7:42Speaker 4: a lot of times. But look, Jabari Mack obviously one
- 7:46Speaker 4: of the fastest guys on the team already, and for
- 7:50Speaker 4: what it's worth, Corey Barber seventeen point five miles per hour,
- 7:53Speaker 4: so not the speed of a Jabari Mac, but I
- 7:58Speaker 4: mean he's going to make an impact for you, no
- 8:00Speaker 4: question about it. Jace Brown third on that list, Jackson
- 8:03Speaker 4: Ara's fit, so I mean, you get the point. A
- 8:05Speaker 4: lot of these guys have big, big time talent. Before
- 8:09Speaker 4: we take a time out, speaking of guys with major speed,
- 8:13Speaker 4: harlem Berry this offseason. Look, you saw him last year
- 8:19Speaker 4: four hundred and ninety one yards on one hundred and
- 8:21Speaker 4: four carries, so little over four yards per carry. That's
- 8:24Speaker 4: something that Jake talks about here a lot, because you know,
- 8:26Speaker 4: even though the running game wasn't good, Cayden Durham over
- 8:29Speaker 4: four yards per carry, Harlan Berry over four yards per carrey.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Harlem Berry has been one of the fastest guys on
- 8:36Speaker 4: the team across offseason workouts. Twenty one point nine miles
- 8:40Speaker 4: per hour. That's impressive. I mean, you look at Cayden Durham.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Durham twenty one point five. Both of these backs for LSU,
- 8:50Speaker 4: whether it's Durham, whether it's Harlem Berry, I think you
- 8:55Speaker 4: brought in some good backs. Dylan Jones from Wisconsin comes in.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I mean you have five running backs. Barry and Durham
- 9:02Speaker 4: are obviously going to be the featured guys. They're going
- 9:05Speaker 4: to headline that room. But whether it's a receiver, whether
- 9:09Speaker 4: it's a running back, this offense has a ton of weapons.
- 9:12Speaker 2: And you can see what Lane Kiffin's doing.
- 9:14Speaker 4: He's prioritized speed, he's prioritized athleticism. It was something that
- 9:19Speaker 4: I brought up, like anytime Jake er Matt were like, hey, Tylor,
- 9:21Speaker 4: what's this receiver we just signed. At one point, like
- 9:25Speaker 4: all of these guys had averaged double digit yards per
- 9:28Speaker 4: catch outside of Trey Wilson, which again Florida quarterbacks couldn't
- 9:31Speaker 4: throw the ball down the field, so that's not on him,
- 9:33Speaker 4: but I mean Jase Brown, Jackson, Harris guys like that,
- 9:38Speaker 4: Like they were averaging sixteen seventeen yards per catch, all
- 9:42Speaker 4: of them across the board. Lane Kiffin definitely had a
- 9:44Speaker 4: vision of what he wanted to do, what he wanted
- 9:47Speaker 4: to accomplish and he's done that. I mean, he's put
- 9:51Speaker 4: together playmakers on the outside, Guys with speed, guys with versatility.
- 9:56Speaker 4: You just saw it there with the freshman wide receivers,
- 9:58Speaker 4: Braylen Allen. It's been committed to Kiffin for quite some time.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Corey Barber, he also flipped from Ole Miss LSU and
- 10:05Speaker 4: then Jabari mac Louisiana native from Destrahn. And I just
- 10:10Speaker 4: broke down earlier all the guys that had come out
- 10:12Speaker 4: of that school, the number of athletes you have at receiver,
- 10:17Speaker 4: at running back, around a guy like Sam Levitt, You've
- 10:20Speaker 4: got to be super excited for what this offense can
- 10:22Speaker 4: do coming up here in twenty twenty six. All Right,
- 10:24Speaker 4: we'll take a quick time out. When we get back.
- 10:27Speaker 4: The New Orleans Saints have some big time decisions to
- 10:29Speaker 4: make in terms of bringing back veteran players. We'll talk
- 10:32Speaker 4: about who they will and won't bring back here on
- 10:34Speaker 4: the other side, on off the bench, Off the bench,

- 13:09Speaker 4: Welcome back in Monday edition of Off the Bench, Taylor SHARPIY,
- 13:12Speaker 4: whether you're sitting in for jcap Heser at Matt Flann.
- 13:14Speaker 4: They are all for the Mardi Girl Holiday, hanging out
- 13:17Speaker 4: with the kiddos that are out of school. So Rosse Jackson,
- 13:21Speaker 4: who rights for us at Louisianasports dot Net, put out
- 13:24Speaker 4: on an article on Friday talking about the NFL free
- 13:28Speaker 4: agencies coming up. But the Saints have a few deals
- 13:31Speaker 4: currently on their roster that are set to avoid the
- 13:33Speaker 4: day before the new league year. So the Saints will
- 13:37Speaker 4: have four veteran players that they have until March tenth
- 13:41Speaker 4: to get new deals. And I just want to go
- 13:43Speaker 4: through and see who they could resign. Who they wouldn't
- 13:46Speaker 4: first name up Taysom Hill for me. Unfortunately this this
- 13:53Speaker 4: is going to be a note and it's hard for
- 13:54Speaker 4: me to say because Taysom Hill has been my favorite
- 13:56Speaker 4: Saint for a number of years, but I think it's
- 14:01Speaker 4: best for you to move on from Taysom Hill and
- 14:04Speaker 4: look compared to last season, he was relatively healthy here
- 14:07Speaker 4: like in twenty twenty four, Taysom Hill played eight games.
- 14:12Speaker 4: He had two hundred and thirty nine yards rushing.
- 14:15Speaker 5: He had.
- 14:18Speaker 2: One hundred and eighty seven received six total touchdowns.
- 14:23Speaker 4: This year, he played in thirteen games, but his season
- 14:26Speaker 4: still ended early due to an injury. Now Mickey Loomis
- 14:29Speaker 4: has said it's not a particularly substantial injury, but it's
- 14:32Speaker 4: another injury. Nonetheless, coming off a season where his production
- 14:38Speaker 4: did not live up to the usual expectations, I'm etionured
- 14:40Speaker 4: he played in all thirteen games, but it wasn't great.
- 14:43Speaker 4: So when you look at what Taysom Hill did on
- 14:46Speaker 4: the season, fifty two carries, one hundred and fourteen yards,
- 14:49Speaker 4: one rushing touchdown. That's two point two yards per carry.
- 14:52Speaker 4: That is by far a career low for him. Taysom
- 14:55Speaker 4: Hill's career yards per carry is five point two. For
- 14:58Speaker 4: the New Orleans Saints did point out just how effective
- 15:00Speaker 4: he's been here in the Black and Gold. You just
- 15:03Speaker 4: didn't see it this year. He's thirty five years old again,
- 15:06Speaker 4: coming off of injuries back to back seasons. I just
- 15:10Speaker 4: I just think it's time to move on from Taysom
- 15:11Speaker 4: Mill and again, that's tough for me to say. The
- 15:15Speaker 4: next two names on this list are absolutely yes, his
- 15:19Speaker 4: for me, the first being Cam Jordan. Yes, you bring
- 15:22Speaker 4: back Cam Jordan. I understand that he's an aging veteran
- 15:26Speaker 4: and there's people out there that want to say that
- 15:27Speaker 4: Cam Jordan's lost a step. Kim Jordan turned back the clock.
- 15:31Speaker 2: This past year.
- 15:32Speaker 4: He had ten and a half sacks. That's the most
- 15:34Speaker 4: he's had since twenty twenty one. He's a veteran presence
- 15:39Speaker 4: in that locker room. He is a great leader on
- 15:41Speaker 4: this football team. And if you can get a veteran friendly,
- 15:44Speaker 4: our team friendly veteran deal for Cam Jordan, then you
- 15:48Speaker 4: bring him back.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I mean he played.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Cam Jordan hasn't missed the game since twenty twenty two.
- 15:52Speaker 4: He's played in seventeen games in twenty thirty, twenty four,
- 15:55Speaker 4: and twenty five. They gonna mentioned ten and a half
- 15:57Speaker 4: sacks this year forty seven total tackles, fifteen tackles for
- 16:01Speaker 4: a loss for Cam Jordan. Again, best season he's had
- 16:05Speaker 4: since twenty twenty one. I just think you have to
- 16:10Speaker 4: bring back Cam Jordan. And then that kind of leads
- 16:15Speaker 4: straight into the next player, which is de Mario Davis. Absolutely,
- 16:19Speaker 4: you bring back de Mario Davis. He was healthy this
- 16:22Speaker 4: past season. And he's still super productive.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I get it.
- 16:25Speaker 4: You have a thirty six year old middle linebacker in
- 16:28Speaker 4: the NFL. Normally that doesn't sound ideal, but I don't care.
- 16:33Speaker 4: He's played all seventeen games this year, and in the
- 16:37Speaker 4: seventeen games he played, he missed a total of nineteen
- 16:40Speaker 4: snaps on the year. That's basically one defensive snap per game.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Not only is he healthy, not only is he productive,
- 16:47Speaker 4: he does not come off the field for you. Also
- 16:51Speaker 4: get this, the last two years he's been in New Orleans.
- 16:53Speaker 4: This season one hundred and forty three tackles. That's a
- 16:57Speaker 4: career high for de Mario Davis, and his career high
- 17:00Speaker 4: before that was one thirty six, which yeah, that happened
- 17:02Speaker 4: in twenty twenty four. So the past two seasons in
- 17:04Speaker 4: New Orleans, he said career totals in total tackles his
- 17:08Speaker 4: career highs. He had half a sack this year, two
- 17:12Speaker 4: sacks a year before. He's never gonna be a big
- 17:14Speaker 4: time sack guy. I mean, he's played the league fourteen years,
- 17:17Speaker 4: he has forty five sacks total. He's your middle linebacker.
- 17:20Speaker 4: He's not a guy you asked to rush the passer
- 17:22Speaker 4: a lot. So I mean again, it's a lot like
- 17:25Speaker 4: Kim Jordan. I hear a lot of people say, oh, well,
- 17:27Speaker 4: you know you have an aging guy in the middle
- 17:29Speaker 4: of your defense and it hasn't been up to up
- 17:31Speaker 4: the par He's what they say, he's lost step. Cam
- 17:35Speaker 4: Jordan's lost the step to Mario Davis has lost his step?
- 17:38Speaker 3: Have they?
- 17:39Speaker 2: Because the Mario.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Davis in twenty twenty four and twenty twenty five at
- 17:43Speaker 4: the two best years of his career, and he did
- 17:45Speaker 4: so at age thirty five and age thirty six, So
- 17:49Speaker 4: I don't think he's lost a step. And everyone wanted
- 17:52Speaker 4: to talk about Chase Young in the offseason, Oh, you
- 17:54Speaker 4: signed Chase Young. Oh what kind of production are you
- 17:56Speaker 4: gonna get from him? Cam Jordan on the.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Other side with ten and a half sacks.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I'm not saying long term deals here, but if both
- 18:03Speaker 4: of these guys want to come back and the money
- 18:06Speaker 4: makes sense, you absolutely bring them back because they mean
- 18:10Speaker 4: a lot to your football team, not just on the field,
- 18:12Speaker 4: and the on the field was really good for both
- 18:14Speaker 4: of them, but in the locker room you need leaders.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Tyler Shock, everyone wants to joke that he's twenty six
- 18:19Speaker 4: years old, He's still a rookie. He was still at
- 18:21Speaker 4: his first year in the NFL. Kella Moore was a
- 18:24Speaker 4: first time head coach. It's veteran voices in the locker room,
- 18:27Speaker 4: like Cam Jordan, like de Mario Davis, like Taysom Hill.
- 18:31Speaker 4: If you will, to a little bit lesser extent, there
- 18:34Speaker 4: can be leaders on this team that are the voices
- 18:36Speaker 4: in this locker room that will help out a rookie quarterback,
- 18:39Speaker 4: a first year head coach, and I get it. Keller
- 18:43Speaker 4: Moore and Tyler Shark they're going into year two together,
- 18:45Speaker 4: but they're both still new to this whole starting quarterback
- 18:48Speaker 4: head coach Kamba.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Why not let Demrio?
- 18:51Speaker 4: Why not let Cam Jordan come in and continue to
- 18:54Speaker 4: be those leaders, provided that they do want to come back,
- 18:56Speaker 4: and I have no reason to believe that they don't.
- 18:58Speaker 4: They should want to come back. They are both perfect
- 19:00Speaker 4: fits in New Orleans. City of New Orleans has loved
- 19:04Speaker 4: both of these guys. I mean, both these guys are
- 19:05Speaker 4: fan favorites. I bet if you go into the Superdome
- 19:09Speaker 4: next year for a football game, if Cam Jordan comes back,
- 19:12Speaker 4: the ninety four jersey is gonna be very popular in
- 19:14Speaker 4: the stands. That's gonna be one of the biggest ones
- 19:17Speaker 4: as far as a number of people wearing it. People
- 19:18Speaker 4: love Cam Jordan, Mario Davis, He's been a stalwart on
- 19:22Speaker 4: this defense for a number of years. The last name
- 19:27Speaker 4: that Ross mentions is Foster Mora. Now, Foster Morow hasn't
- 19:31Speaker 4: done a ton you know that'll show up on the
- 19:33Speaker 4: stat sheet. He's not one of those stats stuffer guys.
- 19:35Speaker 4: But look, he's been a nice veteran voice, a vocal presence.
- 19:40Speaker 4: He's from the city of New Orleans. I mean he
- 19:42Speaker 4: played at Jesuit High School. Again, Ross mentioned right here.
- 19:45Speaker 4: While the stats wearing eye popping in twenty twenty five,
- 19:48Speaker 4: his contributions in protection, the run game, and as a
- 19:50Speaker 4: leader could be worth the reinvestment for a manageable deal.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Foster Mora had seven catch ups for fifty nine yards
- 19:57Speaker 4: no touchdowns this past season, but that's he's not going
- 20:03Speaker 4: to be receiving tight end. That's what you have Juwan
- 20:05Speaker 4: Johnson for Tyler Schuck and Juwan Johnson had a good
- 20:07Speaker 4: connection later in the year. You bring back Foster Morow
- 20:11Speaker 4: for a lot of the things I just mentioned. With
- 20:12Speaker 4: the Mario Davis and Cam Jordan, their veteran presence, their leadership,
- 20:16Speaker 4: they're good locker room guys, and look, I'm all about
- 20:19Speaker 4: bringing back these guys. I'm not saying throw money at
- 20:21Speaker 4: any of them. It needs to be a manageable, team
- 20:24Speaker 4: friendly deal. But if Davis wants to come back and
- 20:27Speaker 4: Cam want to come back, you give them a contract
- 20:29Speaker 4: as fast as you can, because they're studs and they're
- 20:31Speaker 4: still really good players on this team. As well as
- 20:33Speaker 4: Foster Moro goes, yeah, I'd welcome him back. He's been
- 20:38Speaker 4: nothing by all accounts, but a great teammate and a
- 20:41Speaker 4: great locker room guy. And you need somebody to block
- 20:45Speaker 4: in the running game. Your running game hasn't been good.
- 20:47Speaker 4: You run blocky hasn't been good. Can Foster Morrow help
- 20:50Speaker 4: in that area? I think all three of those guys
- 20:53Speaker 4: are yes. It's the Mario Davis and Cam Jordan absolutely.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Taysom Hill, on the other hand, like I love Taysum,
- 20:57Speaker 4: He's done a lot for this franchise, I just I
- 21:00Speaker 4: don't know what his role is on this team going
- 21:03Speaker 4: forward at his age, with his injuries, and how much
- 21:06Speaker 4: you'd potentially have to pay him now. Again, as far
- 21:10Speaker 4: as the team friendly deals, if Tayson wants to come
- 21:11Speaker 4: back on a minimum deal. I'm good with it, but
- 21:15Speaker 4: you can't extend to give him a big top deal
- 21:18Speaker 4: just due to all the injuries that he's had. Speaking
- 21:21Speaker 4: of to Mario Davis, another article on Luisiana sports dot
- 21:24Speaker 4: Net that Ross Jackson puts out does mention that he
- 21:27Speaker 4: believes that the Chicago Bears are actually the biggest threat
- 21:30Speaker 4: to sign to Mario Davis and pull him away from
- 21:33Speaker 4: New Orleans if a team actually did. Obviously, former Saint
- 21:37Speaker 4: said coach of Dennis Allen, the defensive coordinator there and
- 21:40Speaker 4: their defense, you know, it was shaky. You know, a
- 21:42Speaker 4: lot of Saints fans poked fun at the hiring of
- 21:44Speaker 4: Dennis Allen. And I mean, yeah, they were in twenty
- 21:47Speaker 4: third in scoring defense twenty nine and total yards allowed,
- 21:52Speaker 4: but they were number one in the NFL with thirty
- 21:53Speaker 4: three turnouts. If you can have a stud veteran linebacker
- 21:57Speaker 4: in the middle of that defense at twenty three is
- 21:59Speaker 4: going to go up, that twenty nine is gonna go up.
- 22:02Speaker 4: You're gonna start to move up to the higher spots
- 22:04Speaker 4: of total defense because I think Tomrio Davis makes that
- 22:07Speaker 4: big of an impact. That was a defense that had
- 22:10Speaker 4: a lot of young players on it. They could use
- 22:11Speaker 4: a veteran presence like that. Again, they were really consistent
- 22:17Speaker 4: when it comes to taking the ball away, inconsistent everywhere else,
- 22:20Speaker 4: but they knew how to get a good turn of
- 22:22Speaker 4: You plug in the veteran like the Mario Davis, that
- 22:25Speaker 4: would be worthwhile, I would think for the Chicago Bears.
- 22:28Speaker 2: And as far.
- 22:30Speaker 4: As their cap situation goes, they sit at five point
- 22:33Speaker 4: three million overage, you know, right right around where the
- 22:35Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints are. But with a few restructures, they
- 22:40Speaker 4: could be right in the game to spend some money.
- 22:42Speaker 4: This is the time for them to build on the
- 22:44Speaker 4: eleven and six sies and they had last year. If
- 22:47Speaker 4: you think you got the coach and the quarterback in place,
- 22:49Speaker 4: and your quarterback's under a rookie deal, you do whatever
- 22:52Speaker 4: you can and bring in whatevery veteran, whatever veteran you
- 22:54Speaker 4: have to to put around them to make a run
- 22:57Speaker 4: at this thing. I know that the city of Chicago
- 23:00Speaker 4: is starving for a championship. They haven't had one in
- 23:03Speaker 4: such a long time. They haven't even been relevant in
- 23:05Speaker 4: such a long time outside of this season. Can you
- 23:08Speaker 4: build on the eleven and six, the Mario Davis could
- 23:10Speaker 4: be a big opportunity to do that, and for what
- 23:12Speaker 4: it's worth. Greg Allman on Fox Sports, he is he's
- 23:15Speaker 4: already predicted that he believes the Chicago Bears will steal
- 23:18Speaker 4: the Mario Davis away. So I mean he thinks that
- 23:22Speaker 4: whether the Saints want to keep him or not, the
- 23:24Speaker 4: Mario Davis would ultimately sign with the Chicago Bears. I
- 23:27Speaker 4: have a little hard time believing that if Davis wants
- 23:30Speaker 4: to come back, New Orleans can't find a way to
- 23:32Speaker 4: make it work. I think that if he went to
- 23:35Speaker 4: the Bears, it would be because he's just he wants
- 23:38Speaker 4: to get out of New Orleans, wants to go try
- 23:39Speaker 4: and chase the title and try to win it. Now,
- 23:42Speaker 4: are there better places to try to win a title
- 23:43Speaker 4: than Chicago traditionally? Yeah, but again, you saw what Caleb
- 23:47Speaker 4: Williams did year one under Ben Johnson. I can only
- 23:50Speaker 4: assume that that's going to get even better. So we'll
- 23:53Speaker 4: see what happens there. But a couple of veterans to
- 23:55Speaker 4: keep an eye on as the March tenth deadline looms closer. Right,
- 23:59Speaker 4: will take a quick I'm out on the other side
- 24:01Speaker 4: of this break former Lshue pitcher Patrick Coogan joins us
- 24:04Speaker 4: on the other side, kind of get his thoughts on
- 24:08Speaker 4: what he saw on the opening weekend as LSU took
- 24:11Speaker 4: on Milwaukee won all three games.
- 24:13Speaker 2: We'll talk to him next year on off the bench.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Off the bench, Well, speaking of diving in, we'd like
- 24:21Speaker 3: to dive into a Russell Pool because when you see
- 24:25Speaker 3: what they can do for you, you'll be blown away.
- 24:28Speaker 3: I mean, they're going to make the pool of your dreams.
- 24:31Speaker 3: In fact, that's their tagline because they know it is factual.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Let's build your dream pool. And what better time they
- 24:40Speaker 3: get that process started than right now because you are
- 24:43Speaker 3: going to enjoy it year long. Look, this is Louisiana.
- 24:47Speaker 3: It is always full season here in Louisiana. But this
- 24:50Speaker 3: is truly a one stop shop. We're talking about construction, maintenance, retail,
- 24:53Speaker 3: all of that you handle with one company. That company
- 24:56Speaker 3: is Russell Pool Company, and you.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Can trust them. We trust them. Everybody they build pools
- 25:03Speaker 2: for trust them. Las Shoe Tigers trust them as well.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Yeah, let them build your dream pool. They can do
- 25:08Speaker 5: everything from design to landscape, architect to financing options. They
- 25:13Speaker 5: can do it all. When you think of quality, Pools.
- 25:15Speaker 5: You think of Russell Pools Russell Pools dot com.
- 25:30Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves. It's off the
- 25:32Speaker 1: bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.

- 26:26Speaker 3: back in here on off the bench. Halfway through today's show.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Here on this Monday, we're gonna work on a hooking
- 26:35Speaker 4: up with a former LSU pitcher, Patrick Coogan here in
- 26:38Speaker 4: just a second. LSU did take down the Milwaukee Panthers here,
- 26:43Speaker 4: which first off, if you've seen the Milwaukee Panthers logo,
- 26:46Speaker 4: my god, it looks like a rat that is not
- 26:48Speaker 4: a panther whatsoever. If you have not seen that, please
- 26:51Speaker 4: go look it up. If you watch the game, I'm
- 26:52Speaker 4: sure you did. It was it was all over the TV.
- 26:55Speaker 4: But they'll take on the Kids State Golden Flashes tonight.
- 26:58Speaker 4: We are actually three and oh on the season and
- 27:01Speaker 4: I'll break that down. But right now, let's go out
- 27:03Speaker 4: to the phone line. Bring on former l SU pitcher
- 27:06Speaker 4: Patrick Coogan. Patrick, how are you this morning?
- 27:09Speaker 6: I'm doing well, Taylor, Thanks for having me.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Man absolutely wanted to have you on because you know,
- 27:14Speaker 4: all the talk going in was, okay, how's Case and
- 27:17Speaker 4: Evans going to look as this ace on the staff
- 27:19Speaker 4: potentially you got Cooper Moore, got the Saturday Star William
- 27:23Speaker 4: Schmid on Sunday. We'll start with Case and Evans first,
- 27:25Speaker 4: what'd you see from him on Friday.
- 27:28Speaker 6: Well, I saw a little bit of kind of what
- 27:30Speaker 6: everyone expected, you know, come out there, very dominant, you know,
- 27:35Speaker 6: struck out a bunch of guys coming in. And then
- 27:39Speaker 6: the the issue potentially was, you know, how would he
- 27:44Speaker 6: adjust to be become a starter, you know, and how
- 27:47Speaker 6: would that look? And so I think he's still gonna
- 27:49Speaker 6: have to navigate through that a little bit because it's
- 27:53Speaker 6: different with a starter's mentality than than coming out of
- 27:56Speaker 6: the bullpen and just emptying the tank one time through
- 27:59Speaker 6: the order. He gonna have to to understand how to
- 28:02Speaker 6: how to hold back some pitches to get guys out,
- 28:05Speaker 6: you know, the second and third time through the order,
- 28:07Speaker 6: and that takes a bit of an adjustment. Anytime ago
- 28:09Speaker 6: a guy goes from a you know, empty the tank
- 28:12Speaker 6: reliever to to the starting uh, the starting staff. It's
- 28:16Speaker 6: it's it's a mentality shift. And you know, I think
- 28:19Speaker 6: that that one that that he's got the ability to make.
- 28:23Speaker 6: But if he can't, he just slides back into the bullpen.
- 28:27Speaker 6: And is that you know all American type believer that
- 28:30Speaker 6: they have and L s U just cycles up through
- 28:32Speaker 6: their their rotation because they've got all the depth in
- 28:35Speaker 6: the world to fill that spot.
- 28:39Speaker 4: As far as the Saturday and Sunday go Cooper Moore,
- 28:42Speaker 4: we kind of knew he was going to be a
- 28:43Speaker 4: starter in this rotation at least to begin the year
- 28:45Speaker 4: in some capacity. And then William Schmidt on uh on Sunday.
- 28:50Speaker 4: What did you see from both of those guys that
- 28:52Speaker 4: you liked well?
- 28:54Speaker 6: Cooper more was you know, kind of ads advertised. You know,
- 28:57Speaker 6: not a lot of people knew a lot about him
- 28:59Speaker 6: coming in. They just yeah, I think we all heard
- 29:01Speaker 6: whispers of how well he was doing and uh man
- 29:04Speaker 6: that he'd delivered. It's it's fun to watch him pitch.
- 29:07Speaker 6: He attacks his own goes right after right after guys,
- 29:11Speaker 6: he had you know, a number of strikeouts and a
- 29:14Speaker 6: limited number of pitches, which is you know, as a
- 29:17Speaker 6: former pitcher, that's impressive for me to watch, right and
- 29:20Speaker 6: you know, you think of a high strikeout number that's
- 29:23Speaker 6: going to really tally up the pitch count and you know,
- 29:25Speaker 6: jeopardize your ability to lengthen out a start. But he's
- 29:29Speaker 6: able to do it really efficiently, throws throws a lot
- 29:32Speaker 6: of strikes, and you know, it was it was fun
- 29:36Speaker 6: to watch. And then uh, you know William Schmidt was
- 29:40Speaker 6: William Schmidt yesterday, and you know, I think that's that's
- 29:44Speaker 6: a compliment, and it's it's also you know that that
- 29:49Speaker 6: that next gear I think everyone's waiting for him to
- 29:52Speaker 6: kick into. You know, he he's got just electric stuff,
- 29:58Speaker 6: you know, the type of stuff that scouts dream about, right,
- 30:02Speaker 6: and that's why I was so highly heralded coming out
- 30:05Speaker 6: of high school and happy to have him on the
- 30:08Speaker 6: staff here. But it's that next gear that we're really
- 30:12Speaker 6: waiting for, and it's the ability to land a first
- 30:15Speaker 6: pitch breaking ball right and to get them off the heater,
- 30:19Speaker 6: because you know, if his only ability is to throw
- 30:24Speaker 6: a heater for a strike early in the account or
- 30:27Speaker 6: a swing and miss type breaking ball, then those guys
- 30:31Speaker 6: are just going to sit on fastball until they don't
- 30:33Speaker 6: have to write. And that's why you saw the early
- 30:36Speaker 6: solo home run, as that guy was just sitting all fastball.
- 30:40Speaker 6: He's probably never seen ninety eight ninety nine in his life,
- 30:44Speaker 6: but he's swinging as hard as he can because he
- 30:46Speaker 6: knows the heater's coming down the middle at some point,
- 30:49Speaker 6: and so he ambushed him. And so William Schmidt's next
- 30:53Speaker 6: step that he has to be able to take is
- 30:55Speaker 6: locate a breaking pitch early in the count. That keeps
- 30:58Speaker 6: those guys on, so they just don't jump ship and
- 31:02Speaker 6: you know, try to try to launch one into the
- 31:05Speaker 6: you know, onto the railroad tracks on him.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Patrick Kruegan our guest right now, former LSU pitcher Patrick.
- 31:10Speaker 4: As far as the bullpen goes, I mean, it almost
- 31:13Speaker 4: seemed like everyone outside of Zach Cowen performed really well.
- 31:17Speaker 4: But I said a little bit earlier in this show,
- 31:19Speaker 4: I'm not concerned about Zach cow when he was excellent
- 31:21Speaker 4: for you a year ago.
- 31:22Speaker 2: I expect him to bounce back.
- 31:24Speaker 4: But as far as the bullpen guys, like, let's start
- 31:26Speaker 4: with with Devin Sheeron and Gavin Gidrey just because we
- 31:29Speaker 4: haven't seen him in over a year due to injury.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Would you what you make of those guys in there
- 31:33Speaker 4: first outing back in a while?
- 31:35Speaker 6: Well, I'll tell you, I feel like we need like
- 31:37Speaker 6: maybe two more segments just falling the bullpen alone, right,
- 31:41Speaker 6: I mean, it's an embarrassment of riches, it really is,
- 31:44Speaker 6: how how good and talented these guys are. And look,
- 31:47Speaker 6: there's another game today and there's still a couple of
- 31:50Speaker 6: names that we haven't seen yet, right, I would guess
- 31:53Speaker 6: that Jadan Nuke gets to start today and you'll see
- 31:56Speaker 6: see you know, Danny lock and Meyer. DJ Primo has
- 32:00Speaker 6: been around forever. He's as you know, good as a
- 32:02Speaker 6: left handed arm as as there is out there, you know,
- 32:07Speaker 6: And then I guess we'll see, you know, repeat of guys.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Maybe we see Gavin Gidry again, just to kind of
- 32:13Speaker 6: test his durability. But Devin Shearing, Oh my goodness, that
- 32:18Speaker 6: that's that is electric stuff. It's just nasty, right, and
- 32:21Speaker 6: it's it's an easy and and this this makes me
- 32:25Speaker 6: embarrassed to say that that's an easy ninety nine, right,
- 32:29Speaker 6: Like it doesn't even look like he's exerting any effort
- 32:32Speaker 6: and it just explodes out of his hand. You know
- 32:36Speaker 6: that that people people aren't just born like you know,
- 32:40Speaker 6: like those people just don't show up on campuses. So
- 32:44Speaker 6: the fact that that he's able to be here and
- 32:46Speaker 6: playing for the Tigers, and guy, we feel like we
- 32:49Speaker 6: were robbed last year of him with the with the
- 32:51Speaker 6: knee injury. But he's going to be He's gonna be
- 32:54Speaker 6: something to watch because his stuff is just unworldly. And
- 32:59Speaker 6: and look, there's three or four other guys we could
- 33:01Speaker 6: name that better exactly like them. These guys are just
- 33:04Speaker 6: aliens that landed on LSU's playing it right.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Uh, Patrick Coogan joining us right now? Patrick, I do
- 33:10Speaker 4: you want to get into the lineup a little bit
- 33:12Speaker 4: as far as the position players go in just a second,
- 33:15Speaker 4: but before we move on from pitching, you mentioned a
- 33:17Speaker 4: little bit earlier like, hey, if case It Evans can't
- 33:20Speaker 4: work out as a starter, you could just move him
- 33:22Speaker 4: into that bullpen roll where he was so excellent for
- 33:24Speaker 4: most of the year. Cooper Williams is a guy that
- 33:28Speaker 4: a lot of people were thinking, Okay, you'll have case
- 33:30Speaker 4: and Evans, you'll have Cooper Moore.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Who will be that third guy? Will it be Schmidt?
- 33:33Speaker 2: Will it be Williams?
- 33:35Speaker 4: If they do have to move case and Evans into
- 33:37Speaker 4: the bullpen, could you see maybe Cooper Williams sliding into
- 33:39Speaker 4: one of those starting roles.
- 33:41Speaker 6: Yeah? I think he was, you know, kind of that
- 33:44Speaker 6: fourth candidate to be a starter, and and it was
- 33:47Speaker 6: kind of up in the air. And so like the
- 33:49Speaker 6: last probably the last weekend of of Innsquads where Schmid
- 33:55Speaker 6: kind of won that race. If you will, I do
- 33:59Speaker 6: feel like there there's a sense of comfortability with having
- 34:04Speaker 6: uh Cooper Williams in the bullpen. I think the staff
- 34:09Speaker 6: you know, really likes his his ability to come in
- 34:12Speaker 6: and shut the door kind of in those middle innings
- 34:14Speaker 6: if if need be, and he can extend out in
- 34:18Speaker 6: that reliever's role, right, so you don't have to you know,
- 34:21Speaker 6: cash in your bullpen too early. But uh, you know,
- 34:25Speaker 6: I do think he translates really well to the start
- 34:28Speaker 6: of rotation. So that's to be seen. Like, don't get
- 34:32Speaker 6: don't get me wrong, I am not advocating one bit
- 34:35Speaker 6: for a change with case and Case and Evans. My
- 34:38Speaker 6: point is just that we know how elite he can
- 34:41Speaker 6: be out of the bullpen, and if if the conversion
- 34:44Speaker 6: to the starting role doesn't work out for him, it's
- 34:47Speaker 6: gonna be just signed for l SU because they can
- 34:50Speaker 6: they can take that blow because of the depth they
- 34:54Speaker 6: have not only in the ability to sub in a
- 34:58Speaker 6: new starter, but to absorb of him into the bullpen
- 35:02Speaker 6: and had that work on the back end.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Patrick want to switch from pitching to to offense here
- 35:09Speaker 4: right now. I mean, you know, when you look at
- 35:11Speaker 4: the lineup, you knew who Zach York was. He had
- 35:13Speaker 4: hit a bunch of dingers over there at Grand Canyon,
- 35:15Speaker 4: and it's funny, you know, his first swing off the
- 35:18Speaker 4: bat of the season ends up halfway into the right
- 35:21Speaker 4: field bleachers for a home run.
- 35:22Speaker 6: But how perfect was that? By the way it was?
- 35:25Speaker 2: It was it was awesome.
- 35:26Speaker 4: I was talking about it earlier, you know, I had
- 35:28Speaker 4: I was leaving work because it was the early first pitch.
- 35:30Speaker 4: As soon as I'm getting on the interstate, I hear
- 35:32Speaker 4: it on the radio and like I audibly laughed just
- 35:34Speaker 4: because I'm like, how perfect is this that happen?
- 35:37Speaker 6: Like I heard somebody yell, oh, yeah, I'm in the
- 35:40Speaker 6: middle of nowhere. I heard somebody, and I was like,
- 35:42Speaker 6: that's Jacob Hester. He's cheering so loud. I just heard
- 35:45Speaker 6: him cheering for the big body guy.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 35:48Speaker 4: You know we were talking Jay's first National championship run
- 35:52Speaker 4: back in twenty three. You know, you had a Riley Cooper,
- 35:55Speaker 4: you had a Kate Beloso, like you had these big
- 35:56Speaker 4: buddy guys, and I guy Jake, He's been he's been
- 35:59Speaker 4: asking for more of them for quite some time, so
- 36:01Speaker 4: I'm sure he was happy about Zach Yorke.
- 36:03Speaker 2: But another guy I want to talk about.
- 36:04Speaker 4: They went yard this weekend, except dard Ar you know,
- 36:07Speaker 4: he was in a battle with Braden Simpson and Tanner Reeves.
- 36:10Speaker 4: It's kind of a three headed rotation all throughout the
- 36:13Speaker 4: fall scrimmages at second base.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I thought he was awesome this weekend. What'd you make, Supt. Dardar?
- 36:19Speaker 6: Your assessment is spot on? He was awesome, you know,
- 36:23Speaker 6: And how cool is it? You know you can I
- 36:26Speaker 6: don't know if you've heard any of his interviews, but
- 36:28Speaker 6: I've caught a few of them, and the just the
- 36:33Speaker 6: genuineness and how proud he is to play at LSU,
- 36:37Speaker 6: Like you can't help but cheer for a guy like that,
- 36:40Speaker 6: Like he always wanted to be here, you know, didn't
- 36:44Speaker 6: quite get there coming out of high school. So he
- 36:46Speaker 6: goes and plays at Kansas State, I believe, and has
- 36:51Speaker 6: the opportunity to come back and play for the team
- 36:56Speaker 6: he's always wanted to play for. And to see him
- 36:58Speaker 6: have so much success right of the gate man, it's
- 37:00Speaker 6: just it's just a guy that you you you cheer for,
- 37:03Speaker 6: right But I mean, don't get don't get me wrong.
- 37:06Speaker 6: He has every ability to play. Like you see that
- 37:09Speaker 6: swing and it is violent and when he gets a
- 37:13Speaker 6: bats of ball, you know, it goes right and and
- 37:18Speaker 6: you know, I think I think what the issue potentially
- 37:21Speaker 6: was him And while he wasn't named the definitive starter,
- 37:24Speaker 6: is he struggled with the glove a little bit, right,
- 37:27Speaker 6: and so I think the offense is going to be
- 37:30Speaker 6: there for him. It's it's his ability to you know,
- 37:33Speaker 6: maybe play a position that he's uncomfortable with, whether it's
- 37:37Speaker 6: second base or third b And I don't mean uncomfortable,
- 37:40Speaker 6: just not used to playing, because that's that's his opportunity
- 37:43Speaker 6: to play for l s U. But man, I tell you,
- 37:47Speaker 6: just hear his his voice and how excited he is
- 37:50Speaker 6: to be here and then to see him with the
- 37:52Speaker 6: success he had, it's just a feel good story. And
- 37:55Speaker 6: I love it for local kids that can, you know,
- 37:58Speaker 6: come to l s U and have success that it's
- 38:00Speaker 6: fun for me as a former player getting to watch him.
- 38:03Speaker 2: What'd you think of Jake Brown over the weekend.
- 38:05Speaker 4: I mean, he's a guy, you know, he's been in
- 38:07Speaker 4: the program for a long time, hasn't really been that
- 38:09Speaker 4: every day starter, but it looks like he solidified.
- 38:12Speaker 2: That's bun right field.
- 38:14Speaker 6: He's the guy you know I remember playing and we
- 38:18Speaker 6: go play against Mississippi State or the old miss or stuff,
- 38:21Speaker 6: and you're like, gosh, dang, this guy's still here, you know,
- 38:26Speaker 6: like it just seems like he's been there forever. And
- 38:30Speaker 6: I mean that in the best way possible. And for
- 38:32Speaker 6: Jake Brown, that just means for him that he's comfortable.
- 38:36Speaker 6: You know, there's not a whole lot that can happen
- 38:38Speaker 6: in the game of baseball or a game of college
- 38:40Speaker 6: baseball that Jake Brown hasn't seen at this point, you know.
- 38:43Speaker 6: I mean, he looks and feels like an old soul
- 38:46Speaker 6: out there, just you know, kind of that coach on
- 38:49Speaker 6: the field. He's just got you know, the low heartbeat,
- 38:53Speaker 6: the low pulse, ice water run through it, you know,
- 38:57Speaker 6: whatever cliche you want to use it. But oh, by
- 39:00Speaker 6: the way, he's really good too. It hits the Grand
- 39:04Speaker 6: Slam yesterday, I think he had two home runs yesterday.
- 39:08Speaker 6: And it's just always a good swing to the ball
- 39:11Speaker 6: he takes, you know, very mature professional at Bassie. He
- 39:16Speaker 6: rarely swings at balls out of the zone, you know,
- 39:20Speaker 6: and I know for a coach, you know, it gives
- 39:23Speaker 6: it gives Jay a whole lot of confidence to have
- 39:25Speaker 6: that calming presence, that older presence, the you know, the
- 39:29Speaker 6: mature approach in that line up, not only when he's
- 39:32Speaker 6: at bat, but to help with the with the newer guys,
- 39:35Speaker 6: to say, hey, look here, here's what to expect in
- 39:37Speaker 6: the SEC. And so it's almost like you get an
- 39:41Speaker 6: extra coach on the staff with with a guy like
- 39:44Speaker 6: Jake Brown and oh, by the way, he puts up
- 39:47Speaker 6: kind of like all American numbers and is a really
- 39:49Speaker 6: good player.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Patrick.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Before we get you out of here, one more, you
- 39:53Speaker 4: mentioned you think Jade Noodle'll probably get the start tonight
- 39:55Speaker 4: against ken State, whether it's a pitcher or position player
- 39:58Speaker 4: or somebody we haven't seen yet.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Who are you excited to see tonight?
- 40:02Speaker 3: Oh?
- 40:02Speaker 6: You put me on the spot. God, let me go
- 40:06Speaker 6: with the chalk answer. I want to see news. You
- 40:10Speaker 6: know he's got really good stuff. You know we've seen him,
- 40:14Speaker 6: but like, what does it look like a year later
- 40:16Speaker 6: with another year under his belt? God, I feel bad
- 40:22Speaker 6: for giving you such a chalk look.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Sometimes chalk answer is correct, right that that's why they
- 40:27Speaker 4: call it the chalk answer.
- 40:28Speaker 6: Like, let me let me give you I'll go wild
- 40:31Speaker 6: card for you. And this is a complete guest. Let's
- 40:36Speaker 6: go with Jack Rutgers to start and get two knocks tonight.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I love it. I love it. Uh, I like it.
- 40:41Speaker 4: We like a bold prediction here on OTB. Patrick, thank
- 40:45Speaker 4: you so much for hopping on with me. Man, you
- 40:47Speaker 4: were awesome. I appreciate the time.
- 40:49Speaker 2: You got it.
- 40:50Speaker 5: Thanks too.
- 40:51Speaker 4: That was former l s U. Pitcher Patrick Coogan. All right,

- 42:17Speaker 1: This is Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Baton
- 42:21Speaker 1: Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 42:27Speaker 4: Welcome in final segment at were number two here on
- 42:29Speaker 4: a Monday edition of Off the Bench, Taylor show up
- 42:33Speaker 4: here with you. I was not a two thousand and
- 42:35Speaker 4: seven national champion. I was in the building, though, is
- 42:37Speaker 4: maybe we can count that. I was told Jaco and Matt.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Out of the three New Orleans national championships, I've seen lsuplay,
- 42:43Speaker 4: and the only one I went to was the only
- 42:45Speaker 4: one that they were actually playing in on the field. Alandra,
- 42:51Speaker 4: I almost watched Traders yesterday.
- 42:55Speaker 2: I just need somebody. I've found like a couple of
- 42:57Speaker 2: people that I can talk to you about. Like I
- 42:59Speaker 2: may my sister start watching, so now I can talk
- 43:02Speaker 2: about it with my sister. But like, I just wish
- 43:06Speaker 2: I had people to like discuss this show with because
- 43:08Speaker 2: it's just so good.
- 43:09Speaker 4: I made the effort. So I had kind of a
- 43:12Speaker 4: busiest Sunday morning. Yesterday, we get home, I put it on.
- 43:16Speaker 4: The baseball game had just ended, so it's I don't know,
- 43:18Speaker 4: four o'clock in the afternoon.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I put it on. I get the first like ten
- 43:22Speaker 2: minutes in.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Guys, I fell asleep, and like I am notorious for like,
- 43:26Speaker 4: so don't think I didn't like it just because I
- 43:28Speaker 4: fell asleep. Like, I'm notorious for putting something on and
- 43:30Speaker 4: falling asleep ten minutes in.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Uh, I did that.
- 43:33Speaker 4: I made the effort. Uh old but old boy that
- 43:36Speaker 4: hosted he's got some energy. Allan, Yeah, Alan, I remember
- 43:39Speaker 4: him from Spy Kids? He uh yeah, he ran the
- 43:43Speaker 4: was it the Thumpkins on Spy Kids? But guys, new season,
- 43:49Speaker 4: Love Is Blonde dropped your boy watched the first two episodes.
- 43:54Speaker 2: It was awful. It was terrible.
- 43:57Speaker 4: So Braxon, Love Is Blind is like my that's that's
- 43:59Speaker 4: my thing, right. I'm not gonna watch any of the
- 44:02Speaker 4: other reality dating shows with my wife, but Love is
- 44:05Speaker 4: Blind I will just because I think it's so ridiculous.
- 44:07Speaker 4: I like to ultimately watch these couples be like, how
- 44:10Speaker 4: come this didn't work out? We've known each other for
- 44:12Speaker 4: six days and got engaged. I can't believe that the
- 44:15Speaker 4: logistics weren't right. But I got a bone to pig
- 44:19Speaker 4: because at the end of the first episode, like a
- 44:23Speaker 4: Landra loves Drama, she would have been all over this.
- 44:25Speaker 4: At the end of the first episode, they tease what's
- 44:28Speaker 4: gonna happen coming up? And it's this girl like screaming
- 44:31Speaker 4: at this dude through a pod. Okay, like she's screaming,
- 44:33Speaker 4: she's crying. They had to remove her, like they removed
- 44:37Speaker 4: her I don't know, from the show or whatever. So
- 44:39Speaker 4: I'm like, Okay, well, I'm gonna watch another episode now.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Didn't play it, so they teased it for the next episode.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Wasn't in there. So what am I gonna do tonight?
- 44:50Speaker 4: Well, probably watch another episode to see I just want
- 44:53Speaker 4: to see that one part.
- 44:55Speaker 2: If you don't know Love is Blind.
- 44:56Speaker 4: So like they're in two pods, they date each other
- 44:59Speaker 4: through a wall, and they get engaged without ever actually
- 45:01Speaker 4: seeing each other. Then they ultimately meet, Then they move
- 45:05Speaker 4: in together, meet each other's families, then decide if they
- 45:08Speaker 4: want to get married or not. I know what you're thinking.
- 45:10Speaker 4: You shouldn't propose unless you know you want to get married.
- 45:12Speaker 4: It's about the point Brixton not relevant in this particular show.
- 45:15Speaker 4: But yeah, it's I watch it for the for the outrage,
- 45:19Speaker 4: like it's it's it's my shameless one that I that
- 45:21Speaker 4: I watch. Everybody's got there one thing, you know, this
- 45:24Speaker 4: is this is my one thing. It's not good until
- 45:26Speaker 4: after they get out of the pods and they start arguing,
- 45:29Speaker 4: and then the one guy's like, oh that girl's way
- 45:31Speaker 4: better looking than the one I picked. Let me go
- 45:32Speaker 4: over there to her, you know, and then the the
- 45:34Speaker 4: one he's engaged to actually gets mad. But uh yeah, disappointed, disappointed.
- 45:39Speaker 4: First two episodes of Love is Blind. Uh not what
- 45:42Speaker 4: I had in mind, but we'll see. Also, guys, I
- 45:45Speaker 4: made the purchase. We're doing Scream on scene tonight instead
- 45:48Speaker 4: of Mystery Movie Monday. Tickets have been purchased, so uh,
- 45:50Speaker 4: I'll give you an update on that tomorrow. Do I
- 45:52Speaker 4: think the movie is going to be terrible. Yes, yes,
- 45:54Speaker 4: I do think it's going to be terrible. Am I
- 45:56Speaker 4: still gonna enjoy it? Yep, that's me.
- 45:59Speaker 2: I'm I'm easily pleased.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Okay, look that's going to do it. For hour two
- 46:04Speaker 4: of Off the Bench, we talked a lot of baseball.
- 46:06Speaker 4: Hour number one, we just had Patrick Coogan, former LSU
- 46:09Speaker 4: pitcher on. We took the little LSU football in Saints
- 46:11Speaker 4: our number three. We are gonna have our weekend winners
- 46:14Speaker 4: at nine am. No, Devin snow Dev is a bit
- 46:18Speaker 4: under the weather, if you know what I mean. We're
- 46:20Speaker 4: gonna move him to tomorrow and then we'll talk LSU
- 46:23Speaker 4: women's basketball since we didn't get to that in hour
- 46:25Speaker 4: number one. So all that coming up and more, stay tuned.
- 46:28Speaker 4: We got one more hour left here on a Monday
- 46:31Speaker 4: edition of Off the Bench.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Off the Bench
